Case Study Of Kromco
Kromco Case study:
The aim of this case study is to investigate the current strategic position of Kromco, by understanding
the business environment of Kromco. The study will further look at Kromco s current position, and
competitive advantages in the industry and how these competitive advantages can be maintained or
build upon with the anticipated growth in fruit volumes over the next seven years.
Background:
To start off, it would be helpful to give the reader a background of the company s roots. Kromco was
founded in 1971 by a group of apple and pear farmers from the Elgin and Villiersdorp areas, and are
situated outside Grabouw in the Western Cape, South Africa. The original intent for the creation of the
firm was to achieve economies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A yearly growth of 5% is anticipated for the next nine years on this volumes. Currently Kromco packs
4.5 million cartons of fruit, of which 3.15 million cartons are exported and 1.35 million cartons are
being sold on the domestic market. This trend of import volumes vs export volumes are also true for
the South African Deciduous fruit sector. It can therefore clearly be seen that the South African
deciduous industry is an export orientated industry, and therefore heavily influenced by changes in the
external environment of the organisation. Although South Africa is responsible for only 1.4% of world
apple and pear production, (wapa, 2016) South African Apple industry is mainly export focussed and
were ranked seventh largest exporter in USD terms in the world or stated differently, is responsible for
7.5% all world apple and pear exports.(ITC,

My Life Of The Sixth Grade
In the beginning of the sixth grade, I lived in the city of Westlake, Ohio, as I had for just over two
years, and attended Parkside Middle School. As I had for just over two years, I felt very content and
happy with my young life and all it contained. Then came my mother, with the news that we would be
moving away to the city of Canfield. My mother soothed my slight worry with the knowledge that
Canfield was just a few minutes away from Youngstown, Ohio, where I had lived for all the time
before the third grade, and where the vast majority of my family resided. She pointed out that I was
content with life there once, and could indeed be more happy in the area than before. Thus, I meekly
accepted the move, and came to expect nothing severely ill of it. That expectation was a
miscalculation. My living in Canfield proved to be detrimental to my physical and emotional health,
and served greatly to change the core of my personality. The effect of living in Canfield brought onto
me before the others listed previously, and the effect that served actually to precipitate the other two
effects, was the damage to my emotional health. That effect was due to rather prevalent amounts of
bullying that I experienced within Canfield Village Middle School. Other students would often mock
me for my oddities. The brunt of their taunts focussed on the combination of two thingsmy rather
great amounts of outspokenness combined with my uninterest in forging friendships or other common
pursuits.

The Final Subsection Of Market Is The Business Climate
The final subsection of market is the business climate. Business climate is closely related with the
external section of the SWOT analysis highlighted above. Business climate focuses of external factors
that could affect the company or the company s consumers. (Tanner, 2015, p. 345) A tool that best
captures the aspects of the business climate is the PEST analysis which stands for Political, Economic,
Social and cultural, and Technological. (Tanner, 2015, p. 345) The marketing plan should consider
how changes in these environments will impact sales among the customer segments. An example of a
political climate is GLOCK USA, one arm of a firearms manufacturing company based in Austria,
started operating a manufacturing facility in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Tanner, 2015, p. 35) The offering subsection is where the details of the offering are laid out. These
details include the intended benefits, features, bundled services, warrantees, and any other support
such as technical training. (Tanner, 2015, p. 346) Any combination of these features and services can
be combined and utilized to create value for a specific consumer base. The definition of the offering
should be provided for each customer segment outlined in the market section. Businesses should put
forth considerable effort to define the offering for the simple fact that each section of the organization
that will work on the product will consult the marketing plan for the details. Based upon the offering
and the overall strategy and market conditions, the price will need to be set. If the company is utilizing
channel partners, they may want to consider a cost plus pricing model when making deals. This
approach allows the company to make profits when costs are somewhat variable. (Tanner, 2015, p.
331) The company may also consider a high initial price for the product either to convey status
(prestige pricing) or as a skimming approach to recoup any research costs. (Tanner, 2015, p. 330 331)
Depending on the channel choices, the company may use one or more pricing methods. Knowing how
many levels (steps between the company and the consumer) are present in the distribution channel

Human Rights And Non Governmental Organizations
The twentieth century has been seen as a turning point for human rights.
Many business people and ethicists believe that it is time for businesses to start following human
rights. There is however the lack of agreement of human rights laws from transnational corporations.
Transnational corporations support human rights by providing jobs with livable wages and show
respect for rule of law. However, transnational corporations are also known for violating human rights
laws by providing very unsafe working conditions, lower than average pay, have harmful
environmental pollution, commit bribery and seem to ignore the laws of the host nation. Non
governmental and transnational organizations have not been very effective in abiding by human rights
laws and must begin to follow set human rights laws if they want to receive more support. The debate
of human rights extensions to non governmental organizations has focused on the following key
questions. The most basic questions are if and should corporations have any responsibilities at all? For
further question they ask: whose human rights they should consider, which human rights obligations
they should consider, and what are the resources to corporate resources should be devoted to human
rights protection? In 2000, the United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan introduced the global
compact as a policy and framework for responsible business practice in the global economy. The UN
global compact asks businesses to enact, support

Pagan And Heathens Stereotypes Essay
3.) The common stereotypes that alternative religious groups have, is that they are considered to be
witches. Others say that they have a pack with the devil in some way. Another stereotype is that they
are considered to be baby eaters; they tend to listen to rock music, wear black clothes. Pagans tend to
work with black magic to cast spells on others. Also, that they were once Christian who turns rebels,
ignorance, and that they lack of knowledge. The people that they hang around are the same group of
people that are considered lonely, Emo or Gothic looks, etc. They said that these people cut
themselves, and/or commit suicide. They are also bullied by others. Another stereotype towards
Pagans is that people think that they are drug addicts. The truth about these stereotypes for Pagans and
Heathens is that in reality, one hundred percent is truly false. Pagans and Heathens do have
foundations in reality. For example the beauty of Mother Nature, they depend ... Show more content

A Blot is a ritual where sacrifices are made to their Gods and ancestors. In this ritual they use a horn
filled by mead, which is pass around. As the horn is being passed around(it also get energy through
every one), they each raise the horn to honor the God or Goddess and drink from the horn, and then it
is pour onto the earth as sacrifice for the God or Goddess. Now if the person is to be sick instead of
drinking from the horn he or she would kiss the rim. What this means is that if they give a gift (mead)
in return they will have their blessings. Blots have changed over time due to the laws that were made,
and for economic purposes. One thing that they change was the sacrifices. They use to sacrificed
goats, cattle, sheep, and sometimes humans, but now a day, the use mead as a sacrificed. Mead is
made from organic honey Secondly, on the bless bowl was use to pure blood and evergreen twing.

Today, on November 10, 2015, I had the opportunity to attend Hopkins County Central High School
and the privilege of interviewing Mrs. Kelly Grimes. Mrs. Grimes went to Murray State and obtained
a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture/Business. After obtaining her degree, she worked one year
and then was laid off. Mrs. Grimes later pursued the Nursing Program at Madisonville Community
College. Two years later she acquired a Staph infection in her leg and almost lost it. A year and 11
surgeries later she was told she couldn t be on her feet so she went back to obtained her first Master s
degree in Mild to Moderate Disabilities. She then obtained her Rank 1 in Moderate to Severe
Disabilities. She worked as an Assistant while finishing her degrees. I feel that Mrs. Grimes is a prime
example of a great teacher and very great candidate for these following questions. And here are the
answers she gave me:
1. Why did you become a teacher? What was the deciding factor to make you choose Special
Education?
While in High School, I was involved in the Peer Tutoring program. Although I had already been
involved with the several other programs, I knew from an early age that a Special Education teacher
was what I wanted to do. Helping students achieve their goals and help them to succeed in life was my
true calling. But the desire to help the most challenged student drove me beyond regular education.
The memories of my Peer tutoring experience kept me striving to be a

Richard Nixon Checkers Speech Analysis
Guilty or Innocent:Richard Nixon s Checkers Richard Nixon successfully used Pathos throughout his
Checkers Speech to appeal to the emotions of the American people. Nixon, more commonly known
for being one of the most hated presidents that the United States has endured, is exceptionally
brilliant. He used technology to help him plead his innocence, as he televised his big Checkers Speech
for the entire United States to hear. While being accused of accepting millions of dollars and putting
them into a slush fund , Nixon stood firm and exclaimed to the public, I want to make this particularly
clear that no contributor to this fund, no contributor to any of my campaigns, has ever received any
consideration that he would not have received as an ordinary constituent (par. 6)that he had no part in
anything fraudulent. However he does admit to taking one gift his Cocker Spaniel named Checkers.
Other than Checkers, which he receives nor gives any favoritism for accepting, he is an honest,
hardworking man. He stated that he did not care for the opinion of the public I just want to say this,
right now, that regardless of what they say about it, we re gonna keep it (par. 26) because his children
fell in love with it, and he couldn t bring himself to take it away from them. Throughout Nixon s
speech, he presents the illusion that he is in fact broke , thus appealing to poverty. He gives multiple
examples of his financial situations by stating, I owe 4500 dollars to the Riggs Bank in Washington,
D.C., with interest 4 and 1/2 percent. I owe 3500 dollars to my parents, and the interest on that loan,
which I pay regularly, because it s the part of the savings they made through the years they were
working so hard I pay regularly 4 percent interest. And then I have a 500 dollar loan, which I have on
my life insurance. (par. 23) which also establishes credibility with his audience. He also says, But Pat
and I have the satisfaction that every dime that we ve got is honestly ours. I should say this, that Pat
doesn t have a mink coat. But she does have a respectable Republican cloth coat, and I always tell her
she d look good in anything (par. 25) showing that money is not the reason he is running

Advising Directors Of Flyaway Pty Ltd
I have been asked to advise directors of Flyaway Pty Ltd on the following issues:
Whether Peter and Paul breached their duty of care and diligence as directors when they were not
present for the decision to borrow $10 million from Citibank.
Whether John breached his fiduciary duty as a director when he invested in Speed Bullet Pty Ltd.
Whether board of directors is obliged to follow the resolution passed by the shareholders at the

Whether Peter and Paul breached their duty of care and diligence as directors when they were not

A director has a duty of care and diligence in to the company. The Corporations Act of Australia
(2001) states that:
A corporation s director or officer shall use their powers and carry out their functions with the degree
of care and diligence that a reasonable person would exercise if they:
(a) were a director or officer of a company in the company s circumstances; and
(b) occupied the office held by, and had the same obligations within of the company as, the executive

The Weaknesses Of The Greenhouse Gas Theory
The Weaknesses of the Greenhouse Gas Theory
Greenhouses are used to grow crops such as tomatoes and lettuce under controlled conditions.
Greenhouses consist of a framed building with transparent covering. Sunlight penetrates through the
transparent covering to get to the plants inside. The plants and the soil absorb the sunlight and radiate
some of the absorbed energy as heat.
Quite often, greenhouses ventilate either through controlled openings or by fanning air around. The
ventilation is necessary to avoid the build up of water vapor and to ensure that too much heat doesn t
too negatively affect the plants. The key elements of the greenhouse are the outer shell that traps the
air inside, the trapped air, and controlled ventilation.
A blanket on a bed works rather like the outer shell of the greenhouse. ... Show more content on

There are several weaknesses in the arguments supporting the greenhouse gas theory. These are
explained in the following sections.
Carbon dioxide is heavier than air. Carbon dioxide, deemed as the key offender in the greenhouse
theory, is heavier than air. This means that its highest concentrations are close to the ground in low
lying areas. Without the benefit of experiments to the prove the point, it can still be postulated that the
highest concentrations of carbon dioxide are within 1000 meters (3,500 feet) above sea level, and
concentrations will diminish as air climbs higher into the atmosphere. Incidentally, this is not unusual.
Oxygen is known to diminish with elevation as well.
Since carbon dioxide is most prevalent when close to ground level, it is unlikely that it would absorb
significant levels of outgoing, long wavelength radiation (heat) and hold enough of it to influence

Justice What s The Right To Do Analysis
In the book, Justice What s The Right To Do by Michael Sandel. Michael Sandel brings up the free
market and asks those reading whether or not the free market is fair. He asks if we should be able to
sell anything we have on our body to sell, or that we shouldn t due to moral reasons such as selling
body parts, or sex. Why is it that donating a kidney is looked at with with praise while some argue
selling your kidney is seen as morally wrong, Is selling body parts or even sex for payment unethical
or ethical, at what point do we cross the line between immoral and moral. I agree, though with some
reservations. For instance only allow the selling of certain body parts if the body is born with a pair of
it for instance kidneys. Both kidneys are healthy and you can spare one without damaging your own
health. Even liver transplants won t damage your health as the liver heals fairly quickly and leaves
nothing but a scar, bone marrow transplants are also safe since bone marrow and liver are
regenerative. Selling of body parts would need to be heavily regulated to protect the health of the
donor and the receiver, the government must regulate this heavily and determine a reasonable
compensation for the donor. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Other Side Of The Sky Analysis
In The Other Side of the Sky, Farah, the protagonist and narrator, tells about her life living in Kabul,
Afghanistan, escaping to Pakistan as a refugee, and eventually coming to America. The major threat to
her and her family s survival during their time in Afghanistan was the way it was governed. For most
of Farah s early life, Afghanistan was occupied by the Soviet Union. The mujahideen were formed in
order to resist them, but they eventually began fighting against themselves, sometimes firing rockets
into town facilities. Early on, this wasn t much of a problem, as Farah s family lived one of the quieter
parts of town, but after Farah came back from Germany after her leg amputation following a mine

The Taliban were a specific group of mujahideen who eventually took over Afghanistan. They were
formed in the early 1990s with the backing of the CIA in the U.S. and the ISI in Pakistan. It s mostly

Afghanistan. This was a major problem for Farah, her family, and some of their neighbors, because the
Taliban soon started drafting young men for their army, and they were prejudiced towards their ethnic
group, the Hazaras. Trying to avoid their sons being killed when drafted, they fled to Pakistan, leaving
the rest of them to survive under the rule of the Taliban. But this only added to the problem they were
in, because one of the Taliban s laws they had to follow was that all women must be escorted by a man
in public or else they would be beaten to death. Thankfully Farah and her mother managed to find that
they could pay a man to be their escort so they could cross the Afghan border into Pakistan. Once they
got to a city called Quetta, they found work and housing with a family there, and soon after there was
news that certain Afghan refugees in Pakistan were being sent to the U.S. Farah and her mother

Similarities Between Edgar Allan Poe And Stephen King

writers in every generation for every genre. In the field of horror two writers should spring to
everyone s mind. Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King. Both writers have made their marks in literature
for exploring the darker sides of imagination producing writings that can leave readers shaken from
freight. Although both authors are from different time periods they have similarities in writing that
shows their skills. Not only do both writers have similarities in their life styles they both led similar

In 1947 he was born to Nellie Ruth Pillsbury King. His mother single handedly took care of both king
and his brother while moving about the country following their father who was not apart of their lives.
Unlike Poe s guardian Ms.King was always supportive of her son s writing career, and encouraged
him to write as much as possible. Despite similarities in their lives both homes were very different.
Poe live in a financially stable house but with a parent who was emotionally detached, and did not
support his desire for writing. King lived in a home that was financially unstable, but received support
from his mother. His desire to write, and his mother s support led him to accomplish many great
things. King s writing started from a very early age. a He submitted hundreds of stories to different
publications in the genres of horror. King received his college education at the University of Maine in
Orono. He lacked the finances to pay for his education so he worked a fulltime job to order to pay his
tuition. By the time he reached college he had several writings published and was becoming very
serious about it. He remained focused in college and blossomed as a writer in the experience. Perhaps
this is where the core difference exists between Poe and King ;one lacked a strong emotional
foundation in his youth and went on to make disastrous choices, consequently keeping him out of
reach of success within his lifetime.

Prophets And The Old Testament
The last seventeen books of the Old Testament are books of prophecy. Five of these books are known
as the major prophets while the other twelve books are known as the minor prophets. The prophets in
the Old Testament are very important. The prophets spoke for God and were called by the Lord to do
five specific things (Hindson Yates, 2012 p. 287). They were to tell the people to turn back to the
Lord, remind people to conform to the Law, they were also to rebuild the nation and create a spiritual
revival in the people as well as a regeneration in spiritual birth (Hindson, 2010, p. 123 124). Prophets
were also given a very unique talent that they used for God. One of the most unique features of the
true Old Testament prophets was their ability to predict (Hindson Yates, p. 289). Biblical prophets
speak to future events as though they had already occurred (Hindson Yates, p. 289). Though prophets
are known for their ability to foresee the future, they also address issues that the Israelites were facing.
The prophets spoke on many issues such as idolatry, social injustice, and religious ritualism. Frederick
E. Greenspahn addressed the prophets input on idolatry. Israelite prophets seem particularly concerned
with this problem: their land is full of idols... idols of silver and gold which they made in order to
prostrate [to them], says Isaiah (Greenspahn, 2004). Isaiah was not the only prophet who ran into the
problem of idolatry, Hosea describes the Northern

In our society today, language plays a diverse role in human potential and captures individual unique
human characteristics of expression. Likewise, if a universal language was adopted, these distinctive

Evidently, the base and growth of human intelligence is within the framework of language. In this
case, language unfolds the social formation which portrays the exchange of ideas, views, emotions,
and value. As a result, complex grammatical skills are formulated to grasp greater communication
structure. In other words, the loss of linguistic diversity would be detrimental because every language
has its own uniqueness that adds to our scientific understanding of grammar and social skills.
According to Grenoble, If English were the only language on the face of the earth, we could not know
literally hundreds of things which are permitted, even predicted, by universal grammar and
accidentally missing in English, or any other single language. Clearly, there are many words and
phrases that cannot be translated from one language to another. For that reason, the grammatical
principles of multilingualism have critical impact on how we interpret the need to form social groups
and use diagnostic set of problem solving skills to identify how communication can be formed. To
expand on that, [g]rammar did not come from a set of rules that are somehow hard wired into the
brain. It is more likely that humans needed to solve the social problem of ensuring that everyone
understood each other (Ceriani). In other words, language can be learned

Myth Of The Empty Land By Robert P. Carroll
Myth of the Empty Land:
The myth of the empty land is a widespread debate between biblical critics; the concerns of this debate
lays within the construction of Judean territory during and after the destruction of Jerusalem leading to
their (Babylonian) exile (586 538 BCE). The understanding of the empty land refers to the land left
behind by its people, where the myth therein refers to the interpretation of certain texts and their
beliefs of what the land of Israel was like during their exile. The works of Robert P. Carroll will be
used as the primary basis of this interpretation.
Carroll uses various texts, to demonstrate the state of the land during and after the destruction and
exile, these texts also refers to several issues concerning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To achieve this, I will attend swiftly to the major difference pertaining the myth of the empty land; the
variance between the texts.
The Empty Land of Chronicles and Leviticus:
Under the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, the destruction of Jerusalem took place as a result of the people s
pollution of YHWH S holy sanctuary (Carroll,1992:80) with the destruction of Jerusalem, the exilic
period began. The biblical texts that Carroll use to argue the emptiness of the land is that of 2
Chronicle 36:17 21 and Leviticus 26:27 39, by making specific reference to the following verses it is
evident that according to these narratives the land was left desolated;
2 Chr 36:19 21 19Then his army burned the Temple of God, tore down the walls of Jerusalem, burned
all the palaces, and completely destroyed everything of value. 20The few who survived were taken as
exiles to Babylon, and they became servants to the king and his sons until the kingdom of Persia came
to power. 21So the message of the Lord spoken through Jeremiah was fulfilled. The land finally
enjoyed its Sabbath rest, lying desolate until the seventy years were fulfilled, just as the prophet had
said.

The Roles Of Monogatari
Male domination even in the world of literature is a widely accepted fact in the West prior to the 19th
century. However, it does not purport the same phenomenon that women were not writing literature in
the far eastern Asian continents. Japan, being one of the many, produced literature such as Japanese
folk tales and fables locally known as monogatari. History even tells that men were often disinterested
on these, so, in cases when the author has not been identified or the identity of the author has not
survived the test of time, all archived monogatari may be attributed to women. Incorporating all the
western classics will take decades, centuries even and it is, quite possibly, the main reason why a very

One of the scenes in the second chapter is the famous rainy night conversation between Genji, his
closest male companion (the Secretary Captain), and two other men of little consequence as they
discuss women and past love affairs. The scene is immediately painted following the first chapter,
serving to introduce Genji s background and position him at the center of the narrative. Hence, the
rainy night conversation is essentially allows the readers to dig in further into the plot. Frequently, in
between conversations, direct allusions are made to women who will later become significant figures
in at least an episode if not in the entire tale. For example, the Secretary Captain expresses the view
that even among those known as Governors can be found a house [which] boasts every luxury, and all
those daughters of his, showered with love and dazzling wealth, grow up in grand style. Girls like that
often do better in palace service than you might imagine (Tale of Genji 23). Readers who are familiar

to do so well in Genji s service that she achieves the unheard of (for a Governor s daughter) rank of

Pollution In Air Pollution
Demolition and Construction sites are bad when it comes to the control of particulates causing an
increase in air pollution. The particulates can be emitted by the process of knocking down or
disturbing the building letting the particulate free and get into the air reducing the quality. If the
workers do not manage what they are doing correctly, it can have harmful impacts on not only their
health but the communities and the environment. At times enforcing the laws and good practice can be
expensive and very disruptive. The legislation includes things like Identifying activities that create
pollution, Environmental risk assessment, selecting low emission materials and getting the right
training and using the proper methods. But what is classified as particulates and what are they? They
can be very broad but things such as Dust and asbestos from knocking buildings down that can float
away causing harm to the environment, and people s health, motor vehicle emissions and smoke from
power tools also can have a significant impact.
There are many ways in which emissions can be controlled including things such as Demolition
workers can Water down the building as they are knocking it down to weigh down the particulates.
Using the water to weigh down particualtes can be harmfull, as if the workers use to much water to
weigh down this particualtes it can cause run off. This run off can end up in the river sytems and throw
this way the particualtes can polute and cause harm to the enviroment and the animals in th eater.
Workers can also time it to the wind, i.e. on windy days don t do work that will cause a lot of
particulates to float around. They can even be aware of the environment in which they are working in
and know the restrictions and the history s (mainly for older homes) of other houses to get a broader
idea if the particulates cause more harm than a newer house might. For things such as Sanding,
grinding and welding the workers can also use water to weigh down the particulates or use a type of
grad method to trap the particulates. There are many more methods to different kinds of activities that
may occur, but they are all mainly using the same type of techniques.
But on the other hand, implementing these

Silent auctions often work better if they are done consistently. So, this will work better if this is a

Ultraviolet rays damage the DNA of skin cells in human bodies. Sunlight is the main source of UV
rays. The purpose of sunblock is to protect your skin from Ultraviolet rays that are caused by the sun.
This can be very important because it can cause someone to get hurt by the rays of the sun or anything
that has a lot of heat to it. For example, if you live in an area with a bright sun all the time, you have a
higher risk of skin cancer. This is because the more sun it is the more you are going to be outside in
the sun, so too much sun can cause you to have black spots or sunburn, etc. on your body, which is too

healthy relationship can contribute to an individual s attainment of goals, moral construction, and

teetering on the husband s impartiality to his wife and the wife s resentment towards her husband s
impartiality. However, Brewer Davis states that, loving someone sometimes seems to appropriately

During the decline of the Roman Empire, control over the development of law slowly left the hands of
the Jurists and come under the complete control of the Emperor. The Institutes of Gaius and The
Institutes of Justinian are two notable legal textbooks written approximately at the beginning and the
end of this process. As legal summaries, these texts may be useful sources to identify major changes in
Roman law, more specifically concerning the laws of obligations, during that period. Analyses of the
changes between the laws of obligations The Institutes of Gaius and The Institutes of Justinian are few

Tomkins does not go in depth about any of the differences between the books. Conversely, a very
specific subsection of obligations are examined by Olivia Robinson in her article Justinian s
Institutional Classification and the Class of the Quasi Delict. She starts by clarifying that a quasi delict
is a subset of obligations and arguing that the quasi delict is an imaginary idea created for the purpose
of keeping a nice symmetry of four categories. Robinson points out inconsistencies in Justinian s
descriptions of other subsections of obligations and other instances where substance was sacrificed for
this symmetry. In this section, Robinson refers several times to places in which Justinian either
follows Gaius example or breaks from it. She concludes with an analysis of the quasi delict and legal
arguments for as to why it does not exist. Robinson concedes that the quasi delict in Justinian s system
of using four subcategories of ideas likely makes it easier to teach legal concepts. The article is much
longer and more detailed than the section in Tomkins book. However, its main focus is proving that
the quasi delict is a non sensical category rather than the differences between Gaius and Justinian s
Institutes, which is what Tomkins concentrates on. Dalzell Chalmers and Lionel Barnes compare
Justinian s and Gaius Institutes in a chapter of their book, Student s Guide to Roman Law (Justinian
and Gaius). In this chapter, the purpose is to summarize

Daoist Sage Themes
Daoism is one of the main philosophical traditions in China and the East. Daoism uses nature as a
guide to understand the way to live and by using common themes like the Yin and Yang and The One
or better known as the child, the Daoist Sage reflects a harmonised way of living. These two themes
from chapters stated above help identify the meaning of Daoism, and what this way of living reflects.
Laozi and the Dao de Jing reflect the Yin and Yang throughout the book, although chapter 28 delves
further into the idea of the Yin and Yang through the representation of female and male.

ideas that there is a balance of both black and white in this symbol representing balance reflect the

Chapter 28 also involves the power of inclusivity instead of dividing the way of the cultivating order,
which can signify the idea of the Yin and Yang symbol of balance.

The Riddle Of Latin America Chapter Summary
Cities and towns in Latin America capture the remnants of the past. They hold stories of the people
that once inhabited such places and give a sense of lastingness. In chapter 6 of The Riddle of Latin
America, Lane describes cities having divisions called barrios that were distinctively characterized by
a mixture of people that advocated the colonial city life. There was a mixture of indigenous people
who were of lower class and African Americans who were the slaves of the elitist (113). The epitome
of colonial city transcended a civilized life filled with educational units, theaters, buildings for legal
systems, and, monumental churches religious causalities. Cities held a prestige, often times the
capitals held the wealthiest and most elite (priests, people in power) of the population. Cities had
around 100,000 citizens whereas towns were less dense.
The elite lived in two story houses that were in close proximity to the plaza traza. Everything in the
city was regulated: curfews, water supplies, even to what the people could wear in public. ... Show

Christian Mysticism Essay
Mysticism is a word we find in many books that relate to religious experiences. Mysticism is
interpreted as searching for spiritual truth and wisdom through the unification with the Divine. Many
Christians today believe that the words associated with mysticism like meditation and mystic are not
coherently related with Christianity, but more with many Eastern religions. Eastern religions are
definitely known for their mysticism, but it is believed to not be a part of Christianity. Mysticism is
actually a vital part of Christianity in ways that are more spiritual rather than only being engaged with
Christian rituals. Mysticism is the faith that spiritual reality is believed to be from human knowledge

Some believe there are two ways of interpreting the religious proposition of mysticism. One is the
indirect experience of God. It takes the form of reported mystical experiences, which are believed to
be the experiences of the foundations for what a mystical experience is all about. The other is the
intellectual aspect. Individuals believe that as a result of the mystical experience, a better knowing and
revelations are attained from the mystical experience. Jesus Christ is believed to be the son the God
and is believed to have said that to be close to God one must look into his or her inner self, not in how
much time you devote to God, or the places you praise him in. The Christian concept of the mystical
union can be defined as the search for and experience of an intimacy with God through Jesus Christ.
The experience of the mystical union represents the total absorption of the humankind to the point,
that it loses itself in the communion with God. Another characteristic of the Christian mystical union
is the concept of a spiritual or heavenly marriage. The use of the image of sacred and spiritual
marriage between God and one s soul is a symbolization of the mystical union. The idea of a wedding
is the biblical metaphor of the Jewish covenant between Israel and God. The ultimate goal of the
mystical experience is the union between oneself and the divine presence and of the contemplative
way. The mystical union is arrived at in stages of

Historical Impact Of 1968
THE IMPACT OF 1968
The world revolution of 1968 of course primarily concerned a series of major political issues: the
hegemony of the United States and its world policies, which had led it into the Vietnam war; the
relatively passive attitude of the Soviet Union, which the 1968 revolutionaries saw as collusion with
the United States; the inefficacy of the traditional Old Left movements in opposing the status quo. In
retrospect, 1968, the year of global revolt halfway between the end of World War II and the end of the
Cold War, looked like a failed revolution. Nonetheless, the impacts of 1968 formulated ever gradually
progressing definitions of today s world system.
The change protagonists attributed for in the belief of a common cause, opposing the domestic and
international status quo establishments in the name of participatory democracy, political freedom, and
personal self determination, were fundamentally doomed from the basic cornerstones of their

The Psycological Effects of Masochism and Sadism
The Psychological Causes and Effects of Masochism and Sadism
Katelyn Mueller

December 6, 2015
Abstract
Masochism and sadism are very alike in nature. Masochism is a sexual perversion characterized by
pleasure in being subjected to pain or humiliation; especially by a loved object. Sadism is the pleasure
in being abused or dominated. Sadists have a taste for suffering. Masochism could be a means of
escaping from one s self. It could be a temporally extended identity. The awareness of one s self is
replaced by the focus on immediate present and on bodily sensations. Psychologists have found that
the principle feature of masochism such as pain, bondage, and humiliation help accomplish ... Show

In the past, masochists have been labeled as extremely disturbed, but recent studies show a
surprisingly different picture. Empirical observers think that practicing masochists are normal, at least
when it comes to their nonsexual activities.
Whether sexual masochism is considered pathological depends on whether one accepts the sexual
practices of masochists as symptoms. If someone does not judge the sexual patterns alone in these
masochist behaviors, then the majority of the people who are considered masochists appear to be
normal and healthy. It is said that participating in sadomasochistic relations is compatible with a
normal, sane, and even a successful life.
The prevailing theoretical position since Sigmund Freud has been that masochism is derived from
sadism. In some clinical experiments, sadism is possibly the main attraction. It is also possible that the
mentally ill are drawn to inflicting pain rather than receiving it. Most theorists have thought that there
is a strong link between masochism and sadism and have accentuated sadism. It is apparently the more
important and essential pattern. A lot of evidence contradicts these views. Masochism is far more
common than sadism. The number of submissive people outnumbers the number of dominant people.
The pattern in which one partner wants to dominate but the other partner is reluctant to submit is very
rare. The only study that

the idea that that the powerful are untouchable. Another case would be that the ICC has been heavily
criticized for being prone to prosecute cases only in Africa, which raises the question why do they

what one fails to understand is there is a need for an international court. In this paper I will be

As I had for just over two years, I felt very content and happy with my young life and all it contained. Then came my mother, with the news that we would be moving away to the city of Canfield. My mother soothed my slight worry with the knowledge that Canfield was just a few minutes away from Youngstown, Ohio, where I had lived for all the time before the third grade, and where the vast majority of my family resided. She pointed out that I was content with life there once, and could indeed be more happy in the area than before. Thus, I meekly accepted the move, and came to expect nothing severely ill of it. That expectation was a miscalculation. My living in Canfield proved to be detrimental to my physical and emotional health, and served greatly to change the core of my personality. The effect of living in Canfield brought onto me before the others listed previously, and the effect that served actually to precipitate the other two effects, was the damage to my emotional health. That effect was due to rather prevalent amounts of bullying that I experienced within Canfield Village Middle School. Other students would often mock me for my oddities. The brunt of their taunts focussed on the combination of two thingsmy rather great amounts of outspokenness combined with my uninterest in forging friendships or other common pursuits. ... • 5. Human Rights And Non Governmental Organizations The twentieth century has been seen as a turning point for human rights. Many business people and ethicists believe that it is time for businesses to start following human rights. There is however the lack of agreement of human rights laws from transnational corporations. Transnational corporations support human rights by providing jobs with livable wages and show respect for rule of law. However, transnational corporations are also known for violating human rights laws by providing very unsafe working conditions, lower than average pay, have harmful environmental pollution, commit bribery and seem to ignore the laws of the host nation. Non governmental and transnational organizations have not been very effective in abiding by human rights laws and must begin to follow set human rights laws if they want to receive more support. The debate of human rights extensions to non governmental organizations has focused on the following key questions. The most basic questions are if and should corporations have any responsibilities at all? For further question they ask: whose human rights they should consider, which human rights obligations they should consider, and what are the resources to corporate resources should be devoted to human rights protection? Richard Nixon Checkers Speech Analysis Guilty or Innocent:Richard Nixon s Checkers Richard Nixon successfully used Pathos throughout his Checkers Speech to appeal to the emotions of the American people. Nixon, more commonly known for being one of the most hated presidents that the United States has endured, is exceptionally brilliant. He used technology to help him plead his innocence, as he televised his big Checkers Speech for the entire United States to hear. While being accused of accepting millions of dollars and putting them into a slush fund , Nixon stood firm and exclaimed to the public, I want to make this particularly clear that no contributor to this fund, no contributor to any of my campaigns, has ever received any consideration that he would not have received as an ordinary constituent (par. 6)that he had no part in anything fraudulent. However he does admit to taking one gift his Cocker Spaniel named Checkers. Other than Checkers, which he receives nor gives any favoritism for accepting, he is an honest, hardworking man. Throughout Nixon s speech, he presents the illusion that he is in fact broke , thus appealing to poverty. He gives multiple examples of his financial situations by stating, I owe 4500 dollars to the Riggs Bank in Washington, D.C., with interest 4 and 1/2 percent. I owe 3500 dollars to my parents, and the interest on that loan, which I pay regularly, because it s the part of the savings they made through the years they were working so hard I pay regularly 4 percent interest. And then I have a 500 dollar loan, which I have on my life insurance. (par. 23) which also establishes credibility with his audience. He also says, But Pat and I have the satisfaction that every dime that we ve got is honestly ours. I should say this, that Pat doesn t have a mink coat. • 15. The Weaknesses Of The Greenhouse Gas Theory The Weaknesses of the Greenhouse Gas Theory Greenhouses are used to grow crops such as tomatoes and lettuce under controlled conditions. Greenhouses consist of a framed building with transparent covering. Sunlight penetrates through the transparent covering to get to the plants inside. The plants and the soil absorb the sunlight and radiate some of the absorbed energy as heat. Quite often, greenhouses ventilate either through controlled openings or by fanning air around. The ventilation is necessary to avoid the build up of water vapor and to ensure that too much heat doesn t too negatively affect the plants. The key elements of the greenhouse are the outer shell that traps the air inside, the trapped air, and controlled ventilation. There are several weaknesses in the arguments supporting the greenhouse gas theory. These are explained in the following sections. Carbon dioxide is heavier than air. Carbon dioxide, deemed as the key offender in the greenhouse theory, is heavier than air. This means that its highest concentrations are close to the ground in low lying areas. Without the benefit of experiments to the prove the point, it can still be postulated that the highest concentrations of carbon dioxide are within 1000 meters (3,500 feet) above sea level, and concentrations will diminish as air climbs higher into the atmosphere. Incidentally, this is not unusual. Oxygen is known to diminish with elevation as well. Since carbon dioxide is most prevalent when close to ground level, it is unlikely that it would absorb significant levels of outgoing, long wavelength radiation (heat) and hold enough of it to influence global ... Five of these books are known as the major prophets while the other twelve books are known as the minor prophets. The prophets in the Old Testament are very important. The prophets spoke for God and were called by the Lord to do five specific things (Hindson Yates, 2012 p. 287). They were to tell the people to turn back to the Lord, remind people to conform to the Law, they were also to rebuild the nation and create a spiritual revival in the people as well as a regeneration in spiritual birth (Hindson, 2010, p. 123 124). Prophets were also given a very unique talent that they used for God. One of the most unique features of the true Old Testament prophets was their ability to predict (Hindson Yates, p. 289). Biblical prophets speak to future events as though they had already occurred (Hindson Yates, p. 289). Though prophets are known for their ability to foresee the future, they also address issues that the Israelites were facing. In other words, the loss of linguistic diversity would be detrimental because every language has its own uniqueness that adds to our scientific understanding of grammar and social skills. Hence, the rainy night conversation is essentially allows the readers to dig in further into the plot. Frequently, in between conversations, direct allusions are made to women who will later become significant figures in at least an episode if not in the entire tale. For example, the Secretary Captain expresses the view that even among those known as Governors can be found a house [which] boasts every luxury, and all those daughters of his, showered with love and dazzling wealth, grow up in grand style. If the workers do not manage what they are doing correctly, it can have harmful impacts on not only their health but the communities and the environment. At times enforcing the laws and good practice can be expensive and very disruptive. The legislation includes things like Identifying activities that create pollution, Environmental risk assessment, selecting low emission materials and getting the right training and using the proper methods. But what is classified as particulates and what are they? They can be very broad but things such as Dust and asbestos from knocking buildings down that can float away causing harm to the environment, and people s health, motor vehicle emissions and smoke from power tools also can have a significant impact. There are many ways in which emissions can be controlled including things such as Demolition workers can Water down the building as they are knocking it down to weigh down the particulates. Using the water to weigh down particualtes can be harmfull, as if the workers use to much water to weigh down this particualtes it can cause run off. This run off can end up in the river sytems and throw this way the particualtes can polute and cause harm to the enviroment and the animals in th eater. Workers can also time it to the wind, i.e. on windy days don t do work that will cause a lot of particulates to float around. They can even be aware of the environment in which they are working in and know the restrictions and the history s (mainly for older homes) of other houses to get a broader idea if the particulates cause more harm than a newer house might. For things such as Sanding, grinding and welding the workers can also use water to weigh down the particulates or use a type of grad method to trap the particulates. Tomkins does not go in depth about any of the differences between the books. Conversely, a very specific subsection of obligations are examined by Olivia Robinson in her article Justinian s Institutional Classification and the Class of the Quasi Delict. She starts by clarifying that a quasi delict is a subset of obligations and arguing that the quasi delict is an imaginary idea created for the purpose of keeping a nice symmetry of four categories. Robinson points out inconsistencies in Justinian s descriptions of other subsections of obligations and other instances where substance was sacrificed for this symmetry. In this section, Robinson refers several times to places in which Justinian either follows Gaius example or breaks from it. She concludes with an analysis of the quasi delict and legal arguments for as to why it does not exist. Robinson concedes that the quasi delict in Justinian s system of using four subcategories of ideas likely makes it easier to teach legal concepts. The article is much longer and more detailed than the section in Tomkins book. However, its main focus is proving that the quasi delict is a non sensical category rather than the differences between Gaius and Justinian s Institutes, which is what Tomkins concentrates on. If someone does not judge the sexual patterns alone in these masochist behaviors, then the majority of the people who are considered masochists appear to be normal and healthy.
