Honduras Background Paper
BACKGROUND PAPER
ON
HONDURAS
1. This is a background paper about Honduras, a Central America country. This paper will discuss
the health and economy domains in Honduras. While also explaining the relationship between the
United States and Honduras.
2. In 2006, 60 percent of the population had health services provided by the Secretary of Health,
10 percent by Social Security Institute (IHSS), 10 percent by a private sector and 15 percent did
not have any health services.1 The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Global
Health and Prevention (part of the CDC) have been working with public health institutes around
Honduras. The CDC has been training more individuals to strengthen the health services. The
training focuses on HIV/ AIDS, tuberculosis, infectious diseases, influenza and field
epidemiology.2 Only 78.2 percent of the total population has access to basic sanitation.3 This
makes it difficult for Hondurans to take care of their health. Hondurans do not have the resources
to take care of their hygiene and nutrition. Most of the country s poor live in rural areas and
depend on agriculture for their livelihoods. In 2014, more than 63 percent of the population live in
poverty.4 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Honduras is the second poorest country in Central America. Honduras mainly exports bananas,
coffee, apparel and automobile wire harnessing. Honduras s economy has become dependent on US
trade and remittance.5 Honduras relies on the United States to build their economy up. In 2015,
Honduras faced rising public debt but its economy has performed better than expected due to low
oil prices and improved investor confidence.6 The economy is not the best, but it is improving.
Economic growth went from 2.6 percent in 2010 to 4.0 percent in 2015.7 The corruption and
criminality within Honduras decreases the value for investors. Investors do not want to invest into a
country that has history of corruption, for fear of losing their

Iraq War Between Iran And Iraq
While both Iran and Iraq, the two most powerful states in the Persian Gulf, had boarder disputes
dating back to 1501, Iraq has always had a long history of conflicts with its neighboring countries
but none more conspicuously than Iran. Historians believe that the forty battles of the Iran Iraq war
were fought because of territorial and government disputes. After eight long years, the IranIraqwar
was adequately more than people had every imagined it to be. The bitter war devastated both
countries and left many with unanswered questions. The Iran Iraq War of 1980 was between Iran
and Ba athist Iraq beginning on September 22, 1980, continuing for eight years, and ending on July
20, 1988. This war set the stage for many of the current... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, Iran and Iraq had completely different forms of government. The Iran empire is heir of the
Persian empire, and Iraq is the heir of the Babylonian Empire; meaning the Iranians identify
themselves as Persians, while the Iraqis identify themselves as Arabs. Because of this difference in
government,
From the Iran perspective, the Shatt al Arab was a natural boarder to decipher the two counties
however, because the tribes on both sides of the river were Arab Iraq claimed they had control
over the entire area of the Shatt al Arab. However, Iran completely disagreed. Tension continued
to build between Iraq and Iran when president Hussien publicized his his aspirations to expand
his countries power, prestige, and influence hoping to become the leading nation in the Middle
East. He believed the only way to accomplish his goal is to declare war on Iran. Many believed
that the war would not actually go through, but in the early morning of September 22, 1980, Iraq
attacked Iran and the Iran Iraq War of 1980 began. The fighting of the war commenced along the
southwest boarder of the two countries. That morning, Iraq led the surprise invasion by air strikes
on the Iranian air fields in attempt to destroy the Iranian Air Force. After the attack failed, Iraq then
launched a ground invasion in attempt to cut off the Shatt al Arab from the rest of Iran. This began
what has been described as the 20th Century s longest conventional war. Following the initial

Golden Age Of Islam Dbq Analysis
During the Golden Age of Islam, scientific and mathematical ideas were developed, later spreading
through different regions. There were numerous factors that helped contribute to the spread of
knowledge and ideas. Three primary factors were the education system, the production of paper
and the prosperity of unification of oral language. One condition needed for the spread of math and
science in the Islamic Empire was their way of education. The Muslims were encouraged by the
Prophet Muhammad to seek learning even as far as China. (Doc A). This means, that no matter
where the muslims were, they were challenged to learn all the way to China, which was a big
step for early learning. The Prophet Muhammad also proposed a more scientific way of education.
To try and help for cures to diseases, as Muhammad once said... For every disease, Allah has given
a cure . This shows that seeing the Muslims knew that they all had cures, but they had to find
them... which is what a lot of them did. This attitude towards education shaped Islam, and led them
further into education. This was one of the conditions that helped develop and spread mathematical
and scientific ideas in the Golden Age of Islam. Another condition needed for the spread of math
and science in the Islamic Empire was the production of paper. One major example for why paper

scholars could easily communicate with each other, and ideas were translated from Greek, Latin,

defined the spread of ideas through the region. That was the last condition needed for the spread of

The Scottsboro Boys case took place at the Scottsboro, Alabama town on March 25, 1931. This
case had involved a group of black adolescents who, after such situation was best known as the
Scottsboro boys. To be specific, these boys who were involved in this case were Clarence

The Role Of The Drug War In Mexico
The amount of drugs in mexico is a crazy. The number of drugs they have been bringing into
america is also hardcore. Tens of thousands of people die every year due to this business. On

which is really jacked up. Just imagine a little mexican kid walking down the street eating a taco
and seeing five heads just in a sack by his school. Today, Mexico is a major supplier of herointo the
U.S. market, and the largest foreign supplier of methamphetamine and marijuana. Mexican
production of all three of these drugs has increased since 2005. Which is not a good thing.

Persuasive Essay On Saving For Retirement
When you are young you always hear people saying it is never too early to start saving for
retirement, but at that age the last thing you want to do is put your money towards ending the
career you are just trying to start. It is hard to imagine a time where you won t have to go to
work on a daily basis, to make a wage, in order to pay your bills, but the ultimate goal is getting
to that time in your life where you don t have to go to work and the bills are already taken care
of. The hope for everyone is that the bills are taken care of and you are able to focus on leisurely
things you did not have an opportunity for while employed. What we fail to realize is that the
longer we wait to save the more we have to be concerned with the pressure of time running out and
not enough money saved. Not to mention the sooner you start savingthe more time you give your
money to grow.
Let s be honest, we simply can never have enough money, so when you are planning for a time
where you have no income you must prepare accordingly. Many Americans are under the false
impression that when they retire Social Security will cover their living expenses, but the reality is
that the average Social Security benefit is $1180.80 per month. With the federal minimum wage
being $7.25, a Social Security check is nearly equivalent to a minimum wage job, which is hardly
a livable income for most people. The average wage needed for a two bedroom apartment
throughout our country is $20.30, so that goes to

operations topics related to facility layout have been deemphasized and materials on job design
and work measurement are not included. The book is divided into 14 concise chapters. Our
intent was to design a book that could be used cover to cover in an introductory Operations and
Supply Chain Management course. In developing each chapter we considered how students
would view the material. All chapters are approximately the same in length. Our attempt is to
balance managerial concepts and analysis. This balance does not work out perfectly as some
topics are intrinsically more managerial and others more analytical . Each chapter includes
material that should work well pedagogically in a number of ways. For those who want to
emphasize analysis, problems are developed in each chapter and solved problems included at the
end of each chapter. The short cases at the end of each chapter all require some analysis and
usually have some managerial issues that can be discussed as well. The

Batman What Type Of Character Is The Joker
There is no character who is really like no other in the world of comic book villains, and that
character is the Joker. Which would be hard for a person to actually find a character who is deep
and this disturbed in the world of comic book villains? The mind that originated him, Jerry
Robinson, must have been a very twisted person, undoubtedly. The Jokerrepresents a theory about
existence that part of me believes that all people wish we could embrace in our own way. He is
an outrageous character, the stuff he does to other people is the lowest of the lows. The Joker is
also a fascinating character, with an interesting world view, which is why he is my favorite villain.
He has so many characteristics that make him even more interesting, like his history, his character,
and how is he portrayed.
First of all, there is an argument as to where he actually came from. Different movies and comics
have had different points of view. There is no back story for his character. The Joker has always
had a durable history of crime, of course, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

bored doing what normal criminals do. His apathy led him to seek out Batman. He spent the whole
movie just trying to make a point that Batman was just as corruptible as the rest of us. He nearly
destroyed half of Gotham to in the process, but that was the extent of what he wanted to do. The
little dialogue between Batman and the Joker at the police station showed it best. He didn t care
about anything, other than chaos. The Joker is a purification about the dark side of a part of us
that we don t acknowledge. He is part of the darker side of the way of thinking, not only does he
not wants to follow the rules of society, but he actively seeks to destroy the rules as we understand
them. In his mind, chaos is the only actual truth in the

The Piano Lesson, By August Wilson
In The Piano Lesson, by August Wilson, Berniece struggles with her personal connection with the
piano. Her families past reveal her relationship with the piano. The piano meant a lot of things to
a lot of different people over the years. The piano is a complex and multilayers symbol; its
meanings are both personal and political. For example, Berniece was affected by the piano
positively and negatively. She had a sentimental connection with it and never wanted to get rid
of it. But the piano had a lot of history behind it and it also carries a lot of meaning to it. Berniece
stopped playing the piano for a while because of all the spirits inside of it and how they started to
haunt other people. Berniece saw Boy Willie getting attacked by Sutter s ghost and that made her
realize she needs to let go of the past and play the piano again. But what was ironic is that she tried
her best to forget the familyhistory that came with the piano, she can never let go of her families
past no matter what she does. This reveals that people should come to good terms with their past
and learn to overcome it.
The piano affected her positively because Berniece liked playing the piano. She would play it all
the time for Mama Ola and her daughter learned how to play it as well. It affected her negatively
because it had a gruesome past. Bernieces family would die over that piano. For example, Boy
Charles died in the boxcars in a fire after the piano was found missing. After this tragedy, the piano

Jfk Influence On John F Kennedy
How did the upbringing of Jacqueline Kennedy affect her marriage to John F. Kennedy, and
what was the effect of his death on her? Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy once said, One must not let
oneself be overwhelmed by sadness (Anzia). Jackie Kennedy faced many tremendous ordeals in
her lifetime. When she was a child, her parents divorced, which was unusual for the time period.
The separation of her parents led Jackie to becoming closed off. She became substantially shy and
did not like to endure many social activities. When Jackie Kennedy was married to John F.
Kennedy, she had a miscarriage, a stillborn, and a baby who died shortly after birth. Jackie
Kennedy also had to face the death of her husband, from a communist killer. All the events... Show

get into mischief and would be sent to the headmistress, Miss Ethel Stringfellow, who wrote on

geography class made it necessary to exclude her from the room ( Life ). Since Jackie Kennedy
got into mischief, some people would argue that she did not believe her education was important
and she could do anything she wanted. Despite these hard times, Jackie Kennedy had many
advantages and opportunities in life. She took classical ballet lessons in the old Metropolitan
Opera House. She began taking lessons in French ( Life ). Although, Jackie Kennedy was
rebellious as a child, she was very intelligent and had talent in a fine art. Being able to dance the
ballet shows Jackie Kennedy was very sophisticated and held herself with a regal posture. Her
intelligence is shown through her studying the language of French. Jackie Kennedy s childhood
prepared her for her marriage to Kennedy because during her junior year in college, Jackie
Kennedy studied abroad in France ( Life ). She found through her abroad studies that she liked to

On January 23, 2003, the world s leading computer networking equipment maker Cisco Systems,
headquartered in San Jose California, filed a lawsuit against China based Huawei Technologies and
its United States subsidiaries Huawei America and FutureWei Technologies. In the lawsuit, Cisco
alleged that Huawei stole intellectual property by copying its Internet Operating System (IOS)

After numerous failed attempts to resolve these complaints directly with Huawei, which included a

Huawei also pitched the fact that any Cisco trained engineer could operate the Quidway router
with ease. Cisco s rise to the leadership in networking equipment and technology was the result of
many years of diligent, hard work and creativity. Cisco holds several patents, copyrights, and
trade secrets that are critical to its success. Huawei, on the other hand, chose to make shortcuts
and had complete disregard for the sanctity and legality of intellectual property. In fact, Huawei s
Vice President confessed that all the world s leading equipment suppliers are our learning

stole and copied intellectual property be attributed to a differing ethical perspective due to culture?
We will discuss this in Section 3.
Cisco claims against Huawei involved copying IOS source code, copying technical documentation
and user manuals, copying command line interface (CLI) and screen displays, and patent
infringement.

the Internet is called IOS (Internet Operating System). Huawei s competitive operating system is

A Comparative Look At Space And Law Essay
A Comparative Look at Space and Law
Space means what we want it to mean. Defined by those who occupy it, giving it a purpose and
without it, it is nothing more than an empty area, blank and lifeless. The following two articles
offer different perspectives on the use of this space as it relates to law. In one article, space
provides certain function that determines how those who occupy it are to act, while in another it is
a neutral space and welcoming space representing choice and the freedom; a public stage used to
put on a performance and develop a professional identity.
In Norman Spaulding s article The Enclosure of Justice: Courthouse Architecture, Due Process, and
the Dead Metaphor of Trial, the focus is on adversarial space; the courthouse where confrontation
takes place and justice is administered. With little said about this space Spaulding searches for
deeper, unexplored connections between justice and the space in which it operates. Using a
historical overview, he shows how courtroom structure has become increasingly enclosed signifying
law s liberation from all political, commercial and social aspects. Furthermore, actual courtroom
trials are becoming a dead metaphor as Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) offer better options,
mass processing and immediate justice in private and fully enclosed settings. Spaulding concludes,
complemented by history, there exists a movement towards isolation of traditional courtroom space,
because it eliminates interruption the

Abstract
This investigation is aimed to find whether there is a relationship between cognitive empathy and
primary and secondary psychopathy. A correlational design was used, in which the Levenson self
report scale Levenson (1995) and the Reading Eyes Mind Test (Baron Cohen et al., 2001) were
administered to 452 first year psychology students. Major results showed a weak, significant,
negative correlation between primary psychopathy and empathy; there was no significant
relationship between secondary psychopathy and empathy. Concluding lack of empathy potentially
correlates with primary psychopathy whereas secondary psychopathy shows no noticeable
significance to empathy.
Assessing the Relationship between Cognitive Empathy and both Primary and Secondary
Psychopathy
Previous studies have looked into the topic of psychopaths (e.g. Michael R. Levenson, Kent A.

Mitchell, C. Newman, A. Leonard, S. Baron Cohen R.J.R. Blair 2003). This study specifically
focuses on cognitive empathies relationship within the types of psychopathy. Cognitive empathy,
often referred to as Theory of Mind (ToM), is conceptualised as the ability to understand and infer

Should High Schools Drop Football Because Too Many Players Are Getting Hurt? Friday night
lights is something to look forward to for many high school students and community members.
Being a varsity football cheerleader, I myself look forward to those nights, but, is playing for
only one night a week and 10 weeks out of the year, worth risking your life for? Some think of
football as one of the most harmful sports, considering all of the contact that is involved. With all
of the things like blockings, holdings, sacks, and tackles, it would be hard for one to deny that.
Since many have started to take these dangerous impacts that football may have on those who play
into consideration, school administrators began asking, Should high schools drop football because
too many players are getting hurt? Attempts to make changes to the roughness that comes along
with playing football, trace all the way back to the 1900 s. Before that time, football was

smashed noses, dislocated shoulders, broken necks and fractured skulls. Dozens of young men

Why I Want To Be A Death Metal Argumentative Essay
Death metal is an extreme subgenre of music relating to heavy metal.. It is heavily distorted and
low tuned guitars, sung with deep growling vocals and screams, minor keys, abrupt tempo, key, and
time signature changes and chromatic chord progressions. The lyrical themes of death metal are
often slasher violence religion (sometimes Satanism), occultism, horror, nature, mythology,
philosophy, and politics, and they may mention extreme acts such as mutilation, dissection, torture,
rape, cannibalism, and necrophilia. And most, if not all death metalbands tend to cause a lot of
controversy.
The death metal band from New York called Cannibal Corpse is as all American as it gets: They
test the limits of free speech by pushing the boundaries as far as they can get, and for decades
have lived their own American dream, living off the pay from the hardest way to make a living, a
heavy/death metal band that s very popular. Through songs such as Hammer Smashed Face,
Rancid Amputation, Mummified in Barbed Wire, and even darker songs such as Hacksaw
Decapitation, Blowtorch Slaughter, Cyanide Assassin, Necropedophile, Icepick Lobotomy (do I

Adam Smith Economics
Adam Smith thought that Political Economy considered as a branch of a statesman or legislator
which propose two distinct objects which proposes to enrich both people and the sovereign. First,
to provide a plentiful revenue or subsistence for the people or more properly to enable them to
provide such a revenue or subsistence for themselves. Second, to supply the state or commonwealth
with a revenue sufficient for the public services.
In the chapter I of this book, Smith criticizing the economy theory and policy come first before his
thought about progression about public well being wealth. First, Smith critizes about form of
wealth in money (gold and silver). Wealth and money in common language are considered
synonymous. Adam Smith critizes based on the fact that money is used as an instrument of trade or
exchange in a state or between states. Also, it is used to command labor such as to maintain fleets
and armies in distant countries which are the true measures of wealth. Therefore, this lead the
government to prohibit the exportation of gold and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The benefits are two folds: first, this trade carriers out the surplus part of the produce of a
particular country for which there is no demand at home, and brings back something else for
which there is a demand. Second, it gives value to the surplus produce, which because of a lack
of demand, would otherwise have no value. Foreign trade itself broaden the home market, and by
introducing new goods allows the division of labor be carried out to the highest perfection. Adam
Smith provides the example of the American colonies. He argues that it is not the discovery of
gold and silver in those lands which has enriched Europe, but the provision of a new and ample
market with which to trade. This broad market, in turn, helped encourage the division of

somebody that everybody looked up too and that everybody learned from. He had a way of
impacting every person he met. Ed was one of those people, that everyone wanted to know and
those who did know him, knew how lucky they were. Before I read this book, I knew a little
about him and his story. I had seen various things about him on social media, as well as heard

Rhetorical Analysis
The art of quoting and summarizing an argument is one of the main skills to acquire when it
comes to writing a successful piece of work. In the book, They Say I Say the art of inserting
quotations is mentioned to be one of the highest mistakes made by writers. Many insert a quote that
has no frame of introduction or background information which is considered a hit and run quote.
Readers need to be able to comprehend not only the writings, but the background information and
quotes from another author writing in order to have the whole work cohesive. Dire necessity for the

In discussions of hometown politics, the most controversial issue has been the intentions of
both the Republican and Democratic parties. On one hand the Democrats support the social and

citizens can choose who will represent them. Thus, constant aggressive behaviors from both
parties has become entirely acceptable. Where this argument usually ends however, is now that
Republican Trump is our president how will the constant political battles come to a standstill

To make the house more democratic and representative, Life Peerages Act 1958 was passed to
transform the House of Lords. The original intention behind the legislation was to improve the
party political balance in the House. For the first time, this Act allowed the holders of life
peerages other than those appointed as Law Lords to sit in the House. It also allowed women
awarded life peerages to sit in the House. This appointment of awards allowed the House to fill
with people with more diverse background and expertise.
To further transform the House, the Peerages Act 1963 was passed. It allowed female hereditary
peers and all members of the Scottish peerage to sit in the House. It also enabled hereditary
peerages to be disclaimed for life following the consequence of the Stansgate case of 1960 1961.
The Act allowed the individual to stand for election to the House of Commons and also entitled
them to vote.
Attempts at reforming the House did not stop. It was until 1999, the government introduced the

including Royals and only 92 hereditary peers were exempted. This change was made by the

Gender Stereotypes as a Reflection of Women
Introduction
The media holds up a mirror to our society. As condemned as the media may be, it does reflect
much truth and reality. This is especially so for comics and advertising media because they are
very much inspired by our daily lives and struggles (Klein, 1993).
Commercials and comics should never be solely regarded as the promotion of tangible objects as
they carry subtle messages and reinforces certain ideas subconsciously. Gender roles are underlying
and recurring themes in these commercials and it is crucial to understand the development of the
images media portray because they have a strong correlation with the society. As these forms of
media dominate the industry, we have to be wary of how it validates and ascertains ... Show more

Emotional needs Advertisements often depict women reclining or lying on objects, which convey
dependence and appeasement (Cortese, 2008). Similarly, love and romance comics reinforced the
desirability of women making choices and sacrifices for love. (Klein, 1993, p. 62) Duncombe and
Marsden reported that in their own study, women told the interviewer they wanted their partner to
signal attachment, by unprompted intimate or romantic gestures and actions, because this would
make them feel emotionally special (Delamont, 2001). In addition, Williams found that emotional
sustenance in marriage is especially important for women (Thompson amp; Walker, 1989). A
woman s emotional need for companionship and love can then be seen to be largely fulfilled by a
man, as conveyed in a woman s image of insufficiency (Cortese, 2008). A regular issue with
marriage is when a woman feels that she has not achieved the level of emotional intimacy with her
husband, which she needs, deserves or wants and thus, her unhappiness results in the contemplation
of a divorce (Delamont, 2001). Women s desire for the affection of men consistently prompts them
to attract men s attention. However, men are less expressive with words and often show their
emotional intimacy through sexual activity (Delamont, 2001; Thompson amp; Walker, 1989). This
is repeatedly reflected in the advertising media and comics and demonstrated by how women
construct themselves to be objects for the male gaze

could increase if more people used the buildings, or decrease if they are used less. Taking people

Similarities And Differences Between Baseball And Baseball
Baseball and softball are two demanding sports that require dedication, hard work, and athletic
ability. Softball was created to allow women to play a sport similar to baseball, without having
to play with men, which decreases the number of injuries of female players. The equipment
involved has similarities in design, but some differences were made to fit each sport for their
specific needs. The rules for each sport are also very similar with some modifications that were
constructed to make both sports unique. The way the two games are played is similar as well,
but differences in strategy and how the sports are played also make them different. Many of the
differences have been put into place to ensure injuries are reduced and allow for the games to be
fairly played. The equipment utilized is not only to protect the players, but also make playing the
positions easier. Softball and baseballplayers wear different styles of jerseys with numbers,
baseball/softball pants, a belt, and cleats. The uniforms make identifying fellow teammates and
the opponent easier. Both sports also use a glove to protect the athletes from injury to their
hands, face, or any other part of their body. The glove also makes fielding and catching a ball
much easier. The balls used in each sport have different characteristics. The softball is yellow in
color, has a larger diameter, and has a core that does not allow the ball to travel as far as a
baseball. A baseball, however, is white in color. The baseball also has a smaller diameter and has a
core that allows the ball to go farther than a softball. The differences in equipment are strategically
placed to help distinguish between baseball and softball. Similarities between the sports are
important to keep them equal for both men and women.
The rules are identical in many cases, but changes have been made to fit each sport specifically
and to make the games fair. The amount of strikes and balls allowed for a person are the same
for both baseball and softball. This rule enforces fairness between sexes for both sports. Another
rule that helps keep equality is the infield fly rule. The infield fly rule is used to keep the
defending team from purposefully dropping a fly ball to give them

An Artificial Object Into Space During World War II
From a historical standpoint, the space travel that Americans know today arrived when German
scientists took the first effort toward sending an artificial object into space during World War II. In
1942, Germany accomplished its launching of the V 2 rocket, the first manmade rocket sent into
space (Schombert). Of course, the Soviet Union followed suit, historians writing down the name
Sputnik in history texts to describe the country s first successful, unmanned orbital launch,
completed on October 4, 1957 (Schombert). Before the world could recover from the

Statistically, space travel is too worrisome and dangerous for private industries to maintain. Rather,
of the 536 people who have travelled into space, 3.4 percent, or 18 astronauts, have died during
missions (Silver 1). While this number may appear statistically insignificant, these sets of fatalities
do not consider the overall risk potential, and the many other lives taken from astronaut training and
non astronaut deaths that resulted from spaceflight related activities. In 1986, the Space Shuttle
Challenger exploded 73 seconds into its flight, killing its entire crew. Many years later, the shuttle
Columbia experienced a disastrous event on February 1, 2003, when the shuttle disintegrated over
Texas and Louisiana upon reentrance of the mesosphere, killing another team. Now, Emery reports

Social Norms In A Doll House
When we think of the word dollhouse we think of synonyms like innocence and playful. In
Melanie Martinez s music video she captures the opposite; in Dollhouse Martinez s demonstrates
the corruption social norms and gender roles can have on a family. Martinez shows us that
anyone can be affected by it, we just have to spot the signs before it gets out of hand. The first
thing you notice in the music video is a dollhouse. The dollhouse is a two story furnished home
with rooms to accommodate all the family members which consist of a father, mother, son and
daughter. Already we can tell that the family belongs in a high social class because of the look
of the house but to reassure the audience the director introduces the family wearing high class
attire. The father wears a tailored black suit with glasses and a tie, the mother is in a light pink
suit with heels and a red derby hat on, the son wears a button down white dress shirt with
suspenders and black slacks while the girl wears a baby pink dress and a bow. Not only does the
choice of clothing reveal the social status of the family it reveals the genderroles each member
plays. The women are expected to wear the pink attire while the men are expected to wear the

Up to the point where this quote leaves off, we have not heard much of Lady Macbeth. When she

husband s newly attained power. It is evident that the first impression of Lady Macbeth is negative.

Finally, in the last and most significant part of the sentence Lady Macbeth says, unsex me here.
In context, she wants the spirits to come and take away her soft, feminine characteristics. She
feels that her husband is too nice to get the greatness he is promised, and the only way he can
succeed is if she helps him. From what we have seen, Lady Macbeth seems to be the man of the

murder. She is also quite smart, she knows that her husband tends to be passive, and is not about to
give up on him now. In the first half of the novel, Lady Macbeth is the brain behind the operation.
She not only provides the actual plan, but encourages her husband as well. During the period the
novel was written, women were considered to be submissive. However in her case, she is so

Cause And Effect Of Stress
Stress plays a prominent role in one s daily life. Thus, it is important to identify stress and learn
to reduce and cope with stress in order to prevent stress related illnesses that may occur. Stress
has a major influence upon one s health, thinking, behavior, and mood. Stress is commonly
mistaken for generally evoking negative associations; however, it is actually part of the human
experience that places pressure on people so that they may be able to perform at a higher level
achievement. Nonetheless, when stress becomes too much to handle, or becomes chronic, it
can affect an individual physically, mentally, behaviorally, and emotionally. What is stress?
According to Debra L. Nelson and James C. Quick, in Organizational Behavior, Stress, or the
stress response, can be described as the unconscious preparation to fight or flee that a person
experiences when faced with any demand (103). When an individual is stressed, the body thinks
it is under attack, releasing chemical messengers and hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol
to prepare the body for physical action. Through the release of hormones, it enables a person to
quickly respond to fight or flight. For example, a group of explorers are in the Amazon
rainforest, and they come across a jaguar; this sends a signal to the individuals that a threat has
approached, and sends information to their body giving them the fight or flight ability.
Furthermore, stress can be classified into two different branches: internal and external. Internal
is the ability to send messages and waves throughout our body, resulting in the release of
chemicals and hormones. On the other hand, external is the ability to sweat, blush, itch, or
anything that physically affects a person. Both of these factors control one s entire bodily
function of stress. Stress can be both positive and negative, and can impact how one interact and
function on a daily basis. Stress is commonly mistaken for generally evoking negative
associations, however a little stress can actually be good for a person. Accordingly, when the
body experiences a stressor, its fight or flight response kicks in as a way to protect oneself by
staying focused, alert, and allowing one the extra energy he or she need

The myth about Hephaestus had many connections which relate to real life and society. The
connection I made while reading the myth were that looks do not matter, everyone has a talent and

Inclusion Education For Children With Disabilities
Abstract
This assignment will give an insight into what inclusion education is, and the way in which a target
school relates inclusion to their students. It will focus upon Asperger s within the school, and show
how Asperger s is treated to ensure inclusion is met. The assignment will argue the policies set in
place and, with the literature review, will source findings and compare them with the schools ethos.
Introduction
The earliest legislation and act brought about that acknowledged a disability within the UK came
about in the 1300 s. This simple act stated that;
The English monarch to seize the property of people with mental illness or disability
(De Praerogativa Regis). (See Appendix B)
Clearly legislation has come a long way from this point, and schools have a variety of inclusion
policies that are aimed at Special Education Needs (SEN). The first act aimed towards the education
of children with disabilities was that of the Elementary Education (Blind and Deaf Children Act of
1893) which transferred responsibility for the education of blind and Deaf children to local
education authorities .
(NHS, 2012)
This act was then followed with the updated 1944 Act which stated mainstream schools are likely to
be the most appropriate environment in which to teach disabled children .
(The Education Act of 1944)
It was in 2010 that all previous anti discrimination laws were unified together under a single act:

to them, but as I went out into the field those little extra efforts seemed to not be important. My
first day opened my eyes to how some medical professionals took care of their patients. As I was
walking through the doors of the radiology department, I was taking in the atmosphere.
Everyone had a purpose and was moving around like they were on a mission. The first patient I
helped with was a man who was going in for CT. This patient had had a history of being on
illegal drugs and came into the ER a lot for pain relievers. The technologists were not happy that
this patient was back and was complaining of his shoulder/clavicle area being hurt. I went down to
the ER to get the patient with a technologist and as they were talking to a nurse about this patient
there was eye rolling and huffing from the both of them. As we were placing him on the table the
technologist was very rough with him, he was half crying telling this technologist to being easy on
this arm. The technologist just kept doing what they needed

Learning Geometry Requires Steps Or Levels
Learning Geometry requires steps or levels that need to be completed by students. These levels
of learning need to be completed in a particular order, so that students can progress and move
along to the next level. Difficulties in grasping geometric concepts by students may be caused by
the lack of exposure to a particular level or the lack of preparation by their leaning facilitator. A
combination of the two needs to be present for students to learn and maximize the learning
experience. Instructors need to be aware how students learn and determine if they are a level
appropriate for their age. If they are not at that level then, it is up to the instructor to make sure that
students reach the desired level. Instruction should be modified to incorporate ways to assist those
students that are not at their level.
Van Hiele suggested that students must pass through five levels of learning in a sequence and must
move level by level, so that they can learn appropriately. The levels are: visual, descriptive/analytic,
abstract/relational, formal deduction, and rigor/mathematical. By the time a student enters high
school they should be at formal deduction level and be able to create proofs. Students should know
identify shapes, identify properties, and understand relationships. Having this levels of the Van
Hiele model should be sufficient for students to comprehend high school geometry. Yet, educators
feel that students are not at this level and emphasis should be

Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart
Are men always supposed to be represented as superior and tough? The novel, Things Fall Apart is
about the tragic fall of the Ibo culture and main character Okonkwo. Reason why things fall apart is
due to the men within the Ibo culture converting to a new religion. Chinua Achebe shows that men
in the Ibo culture are expected to be superior, successful, and strong. Okonkwo is one man who
embodies all the traits of a successful man. Achebe also shows how unsuccessful men of the Ibo
culture led to things falling apart. The novel shows this with multiple events that happened in the
the book for example when Okonkwo the main character becomes successful by beating Amalinze
the Cat in a wrestling match and much more. In the novel men are represented... Show more content

Frms take a lot of hard labor in order to keep it stable. For example, Okonkwo has two farms and
in order to keep a farm in good shape, multiple tasks have to be done. The numerous tasks are:
feeding livestock, harvesting yams, and cleaning. Another example is when Agbala is telling
Unoka, When your neighbors go out with their axe to cut down virgin forests. They cross seven
rivers to make their farms (17). Agbala tells Unoka this because Unoka is an example of a
unsuccessful man. Unoka has a farm but the farm is so bad it doesn t even require hard
labor.Agbala mentions other hard working men so Unoka can probably motivated. The hard
labor men do represents them as being hard workers. Thus why men are represented as hard
workers. How men are represented as successful is due to their fame, titles, and amount of farms
they have. For example, Okonkwo has attained all these three attributes to be shown as successful.
What really makes men in the Ibo culture successful is titles. Titles are everything in the Ibo
culture. If a man does not own a single title then the man is worthless. For example, when
Okonkwo, Had won fame as the greatest wrestler in the nine villages (8). Due to Okonkwo s fame,
he was being shown

The Priceless Treasure By Peggy Bacon
In the illustration The Priceless Find (Antique Shop) , the artist Peggy Bacon is satirizing the
idea of an antique by both emphasizing the idea of beauty and rarity which is considered
directly with an antique as well as point out the literal definition of an antique . The artwork,
created in 1943, was made in a time where America was preoccupied World War II. This
historical detail allows the viewer furthermore to understating the reason why Bacon chose to
point out the absurdity of antiques. Before we can look at Bacon s message, I must first state
why the artwork is a humorous account of a real life event. This illustration was created two
years after Peggy Bacon divorced her husband Alexander Brooks (Meng, 18). Though it could be
plausible that the antique shop could symbolize of her broken marriage, argued with crackled
paint, shattered mirror, and dark atmosphere, but Bacon is a realist (Tarbell, 32). Peggy Bacon
was documented in an interview to never create scenes and caricatures but simply draw from her
surroundings. Therefore making up a scene to symbolize an event in her life is not valid. As to
why the artwork is a satirical representation of the real scene, I derived this from both Bacons love
of satire created during her studies at the Arts Student League and from an excerpt taken from an
interview with Bacon. In this interview, Bacon stated the main purpose of a caricature is to
heighten the absurdity of its quality (Meng, 18). Though plausible this could

Tax Dollars Should Fund Religious Schools Essay
Tax Dollars Should Fund Religious Schools
The issue of whether or not to use tax dollars to provide private schools with vouchers has been
controversial for many years now. Many people feel that it is our governments obligation to
provide private institutions with the proper funds, while others believe that if private schools
inherit our tax dollars then it is violation of our constitution as it promotes a particular religion. I
think it is our government s responsibility to provide each and every school with tax dollars,
regardless of its orientation. Many reasons, especially popularity and success rates provide
substantial evidence that private schools should be funded by government vouchers.
The main concern of those who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition there is no evidence supporting that it is unconstitutional to involve the state with
religion or that anyone was coerced into practicing religion. The Supreme Court ruled in Everson
vs. Board of Education that the taxes that would be spent would be for a public purpose; that being
educating children. That is the purpose of our government to provide education to our children. In
the Supreme Court case Mitchell vs. Helms the court ruled that taxpayers money can be used to
provide certain materials for religious schools. So obviously it is not unconstitutional to fund
private schools if they already decided to give materials to these schools. Therefore there is no
evidence supporting the fact that the publics taxes should not go to private schools.
Our job as a community and a society is to provide children with education. It should not matter
what school these students choose to attend, we should still provide them with the opportunity to
learn. As stated in USA Today, 47% of school age students would use private schools if they had the
right resources. Students should be able to decide where they want to get their education. The more
a student likes their environment, the more apt they are to learning. We should not deprive them of
learning in any form. By not funding these schools we are in fact then depriving the students.
According to the Wall Street Journal, voucher students are more likely to stay in school, learn more,

Descriptive Essay On My House
A bang on my door interrupts my quiet slumber and jolts my body into a sitting position. I rub
my blurry eyes and swing my legs over the side of my bed, trying to move forwards. My foot gets
caught in the fluffy blanket and I tumble to the ground. Gahh! My head hits my side table when I
bolt into a sittingposition. My hand reaches up and rubs my head whilst my other hand balances
my glasses on the bridge of my nose. Come downstairs and get dinner! My cousin s rough,
irritable voice comes through my door. I ll be down in a minute. My voice comes out quiet and
hoarse, making it sound like I need a large glass of water. I open my closet doors and scan over
the contents before picking out a pair of boots, a white, chunky sweater, a black scarf, and some
thick jeans. With a click, my door unlocks and swings open to reveal the bathroom door in front
of me. The cold hardwood floor makes my feet tingle whilst I cross into the even colder bathroom.
Although the room is cold, I feel warm inside with excitement while I change into my clothing and
flash an indeterminate smile at the mirror. A second click sounds when I open the door and head
to the large kitchen. I almost make it without any accidents only to break the streak by tripping on
air and face planting into the maroon colored wood. Mara, one of my two bratty kin, remarks, Can
you not go 5 minutes without hurting yourself? Her statement is met with a half hearted laugh and
grin whilst pushing myself up and walking

Essay on Hamlet and Tragedy
Hamlet and Tragedy
Hamlet: A Tragedy When you think of William Shakespeare, Hamlet is the first thing most
people think of, as his work. Hamlet is also a classic example of a tragedy. In all tragedies the
hero suffers, and usually dies at the end. All good pieces of literature written way back when, are
usually tragedies. The most important element is the amount of free will the character has. In every
tragedy, the character must display free will. If every action is controlled by a hero s destiny, then
the hero s death can t be avoided, and in a tragedy the sad part is that it could. Hamlet s death could
have been avoided many times. Hamlet had many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tragic hero must possess many good traits, as well as one flaw, which eventually leads to his
downfall. A tragic hero must be brave and noble. Hamlet is the perfect example of the tragic
hero. Hamlet has all the good traits needed to be a tragic hero. He is brave and daring. One
example of this is that when he went to England, he was taking a big risk and knew they were
out to kill him. His loyalty to his father, was the reason he was so angry with Claudius and his
Mother. Eric Bentley said that a Tragedy is dependent on comedy. Comic relief is used in
tragedies to change the atmosphere of the reader, who is constantly focusing on the death and
corruption of a tragedy. If a play were full of the death and sorrow, as in tragedies, it would make
the reader very depressed and not like the play. Some examples of this in Hamlet, are in the
Gravedigger Scene, Talking to the Skull and the Throwing of the book.
Towards the end of the play, there are two scenes in the graveyard. One is when Hamlet picks up
a skull, and the gravedigger tells him that the skull belonged to Yorick, the old king s jester.
Hamlet tells Horatio that he knew Yorick, and then realizes what we all become after we die,
dust. He then plays with the idea of life and death, and describes the finality of it. The
gravedigger scene is the tragic conclusion of the play. The second scene of comedy in this scene is
when the gravediggers argue whether Ophelia should be allowed to be

If I had it my way, I would tone down the zero tolerance act. It just punishes too harshly for some

a toy gun, and major problems, like having drugs.
Zero Tolerance
The zero tolerance policies call for students to receive automatic suspensions or expulsions as
punishment for certain offenses, primarily those involving weapons, threats, or drugs. I agree that
safety is an important concern in schools, but sometimes the zero tolerance policy is taken too far. It
is as if administrators don t distinguish between minor and major discretions.

If anything, he/she might have gotten the idea from television or video games. I understand that
those who are disruptive to the learning process should be removed from school. It is not fair to
other students who actually want to learn. If they aren t very disruptive, I think other punishments
should be implemented, such as in school suspensions.
In the movie we watched, it discussed an eight year old boy who was suspended for playing with a
paper gun. I see no harm in this. He obviously wasn t trying to hurt anyone; he just wanted to
play cowboys and Indians like a normal young boy. However, due to the zero tolerance act, he
was suspended. I see no fairness. I would understand if he would have purposely hurt someone
with his paper gun, but he was just pretending. Also in another school, a school mascot wasn t
allowed to carry a cardboard sword around. It s not as if he wanted to attack someone with this
fake sword; it is just part of his costume.
Again, I don t think this is at all fair.
If I had it my way, I would tone down the zero tolerance act. It just punishes too harshly for some
things. I think that it needs to distinguish the difference between minor problems, like playing with
a toy gun, and major problems, like having drugs. I completely understand that schools just want to
make the environment violence free, but this just can t be done by punishing light offenders. The
world is a violent place, so until everyone can

Security And The OSI Model Essay
Security and the OSI Model Network security is a topic that reaches far beyond the realm of
firewalls, passwords, and user ID accounts. For a network and data to remain secure there must be
protective measures at each level in the OSI interconnect model. While each layer basically
operates autonomously of the other it is important to ensure that the data being transmitted from the
host to destination has not been tampered with or is being prevented from reaching its destination.
There are seven level to the OSI interconnect model; each with its own special tasks, abilities, and
weaknesses. There are seven layers in the OSI interconnect model; they are the Physical, Datalink,

ARP is a simple protocol that was never designed for authentication. Any end station that has
access to the layer two environment can claim any IP address if the proper security measures are
not taken. ARP spoofing or ARP poisoning occurs when an attacker s computer forges its
credentials to allow the host to believe that it is the intended recipient. If the attackers computer
forwards all of the data that is to be sent to the intended host it is very likely that the man in the
middle would go undetected. At any time the attacker can make changes to the data that is
forwarded, copy and use the data, or flood the network with erroneous packets that cause data
collisions and effectively bring network traffic to a halt. The process of wardriving is a new
threat that has surfaced with the popularity of 802.11 style wireless connections. Poor security
with these devices allows an attacker virtually unrestricted access to the data link layer and
beyond. It is not very difficult to walk around various areas in a busy metropolitan area and pick
up unsecured wireless signals and gain access to private networks where the owner has little idea
of you presence. The third layer is the network layer. In the network layer data is routed through
various physical networks while traveling to a known host. Information contained in the network
layer allows routers to make decisions on how the data gets to its destination. Security

The Recent Engagement of Contemporary Islamic Thought with Modernity in the West
Modernization theory has been one of the master theoretical narratives to understand the major
institutional and cultural transformation from traditional societies to modern ones. It was
developed by the founders of sociology and has dominated the widespread understanding and
explanations of many social differentiation processes including rationalization, individualization,
urbanization, and secularization for several decades. Thus, sociologists believed that the
consequences of modernization were unavoidable route and common destinations and patters for

They suggest that we should re systematize and correct the classical theory of modernization in the
light of multiple modernities frameworks because multiple modernities do not assume that global
modernity is derived from the West as a single pattern (source) and describe the possibility of a
plural modernity experiences. In fact, there are many modernities, not only one single patter of
modernization. These developments forced sociologists for a paradigm shift in the dominant one
side understanding of western modernity.
In this context, Islam and the discourse of western Muslim intellectuals have gradually gained
visibility and significance through the continuing migration and the growth of new generations in
the western societies. Western Islam also has emerged in the hearth of modernity; yet did not
follow the same patters of classical modernization trends. However, it could not escape the
hegemonic influence of modernity. As a result, western Islam is emerging not only as a response to
the challenges (premises) of modernity, but also through a transformative dialectical engagement
with the ethos of modernity, which gradually pave the path towards the rise of Islamic modernism
(Islamic modernity) in the west. Hence, the multiple modernities thesis serves as a more adequate
theoretical approach than the prevailing modernization, the secularization perspective or many
other approaches to

The Film Precious by Lee Daniels Essay
When you think of the word poverty or poor what comes to mind? Some think of hunger,
minorities, dirty areas, women, and homeless people. What about when you hear the term abuse ?
For most people, abuse means physical; getting beat up or hit. Although abuse can mean getting
beat up or hit, there is far more that follows. Abuse can take on many forms like physical,
emotional or sexual. The filmPrecious by Lee Daniels, based on the novel Push by Sapphire,

These stereotypes are very disadvantaging to the African Americanrace because they are putting out
messages that you have to look a certain way to be attractive.
Although this film is disadvantaging to many people, it is also very beneficial. I think people
that come from the lower class or an abusive household can really benefit from this film. The
main point of this film is to show people that you can achieve anything you want to do no matter
what background you come from, and although it might be hard because of economical
/ personal issues you are not less of a person than anyone and you can still be successful. I love
the idea of success because it doesn t really have a set definition. You don t necessarily need
money to be/feel successful. You can work at Subway and still be successful while a twelve time
Oscar winning actor can be successful. You sort of carve out your own success and make your
own definition for it. This movie will also teach people that they are not on their own. Although
you might think nobody is there for you, when you enter a room you don t know what everyone
is thinking or how everyone feels; you might now even know everyone. It is kind of like when
you re putting together a puzzle, you put certain pieces together and you get closer to finishing
and you just need to keep trying to solve the puzzle because if you give up you just wasted your
money on a puzzle

Sassanid Persians Analysis
One point of contention between Halsall and Heather is the labeling of the Sassanid Persians. The
former said pays little mind to the Persians, saying that they were not considered to be barbarians
(Halsall 52). He moves on to the next people with no explanation other that there was more to being
barbarian than simply living outside the Roman Empire(Halsall 52). The latter, on the other hand,
clearly states that they were thought of as a barbarian culture (Heather, 57 58). This causes the
reader to question what exactly the term barbarian meant to the citizens of the Roman Empire and
how this related to the Sassanid Persians. The label of barbarian was related to the lifestyle,
morality, and martial skill of a group. The Sassanid Persians... Show more content on

One example of Persian military capability was Emperor Julian s failed invasion of Persia in 363
(Maas, 336). Not only did the emperor die due to wounds inflicted in battle, but his successor,
Jovian, had to make a truce with the Persians in order to return home (Maas, 336). Considering
the view that barbarians represented humanity s irrationality, the Romans would not have
wanted to believe that their greatest military rivals were barbarians. Therefore, it is only natural
that they did not label the Persians as such. One should remember that while they might have
believed that Western barbarian cultures were less able to plan a battle due to a lack of reason,
it does not mean that they were actually poor fighters. In fact, they could rival the Roman army
in all but training and numbers (Halsall, 146). They were even able to defeat Roman troops from
time to time. One example from the early empire, was the loss of three legions led by P.
Quinctilius Varus to an alliance of Germanic fighters (Heather, 46). Nor did it meant that barbarian
forces were seen as universally weak. Barbarian peoples had been incorporated into the army even
when the empire was new (Halsall, 105). This inclusion could be seen in the potentially inherited
ethnic names that certain regiments, even

There were numerous factors that helped contribute to the spread of knowledge and ideas. Three primary factors were the education system, the production of paper and the prosperity of unification of oral language. One condition needed for the spread of math and science in the Islamic Empire was their way of education. The Muslims were encouraged by the Prophet Muhammad to seek learning even as far as China. • 8. Persuasive Essay On Saving For Retirement When you are young you always hear people saying it is never too early to start saving for retirement, but at that age the last thing you want to do is put your money towards ending the career you are just trying to start. It is hard to imagine a time where you won t have to go to work on a daily basis, to make a wage, in order to pay your bills, but the ultimate goal is getting to that time in your life where you don t have to go to work and the bills are already taken care of. The hope for everyone is that the bills are taken care of and you are able to focus on leisurely things you did not have an opportunity for while employed. What we fail to realize is that the longer we wait to save the more we have to be concerned with the pressure of time running out and not enough money saved. Not to mention the sooner you start savingthe more time you give your money to grow. Let s be honest, we simply can never have enough money, so when you are planning for a time where you have no income you must prepare accordingly. Many Americans are under the false impression that when they retire Social Security will cover their living expenses, but the reality is that the average Social Security benefit is $1180.80 per month. With the federal minimum wage being $7.25, a Social Security check is nearly equivalent to a minimum wage job, which is hardly a livable income for most people. Which would be hard for a person to actually find a character who is deep and this disturbed in the world of comic book villains? The mind that originated him, Jerry Robinson, must have been a very twisted person, undoubtedly. The Jokerrepresents a theory about existence that part of me believes that all people wish we could embrace in our own way. He is an outrageous character, the stuff he does to other people is the lowest of the lows. The Joker is also a fascinating character, with an interesting world view, which is why he is my favorite villain. He has so many characteristics that make him even more interesting, like his history, his character, and how is he portrayed. First of all, there is an argument as to where he actually came from. Different movies and comics have had different points of view. There is no back story for his character. The Joker has always had a durable history of crime, of course, ... His apathy led him to seek out Batman. He spent the whole movie just trying to make a point that Batman was just as corruptible as the rest of us. He nearly destroyed half of Gotham to in the process, but that was the extent of what he wanted to do. The little dialogue between Batman and the Joker at the police station showed it best. He didn t care about anything, other than chaos. The Joker is a purification about the dark side of a part of us that we don t acknowledge. He is part of the darker side of the way of thinking, not only does he not wants to follow the rules of society, but he actively seeks to destroy the rules as we understand them. Her families past reveal her relationship with the piano. The piano meant a lot of things to a lot of different people over the years. The piano is a complex and multilayers symbol; its meanings are both personal and political. For example, Berniece was affected by the piano positively and negatively. She had a sentimental connection with it and never wanted to get rid of it. But the piano had a lot of history behind it and it also carries a lot of meaning to it. Berniece stopped playing the piano for a while because of all the spirits inside of it and how they started to haunt other people. Berniece saw Boy Willie getting attacked by Sutter s ghost and that made her realize she needs to let go of the past and play the piano again. But what was ironic is that she tried her best to forget the familyhistory that came with the piano, she can never let go of her families past no matter what she does. This reveals that people should come to good terms with their past and learn to overcome it. The piano affected her positively because Berniece liked playing the piano. She would play it all the time for Mama Ola and her daughter learned how to play it as well. It affected her negatively because it had a gruesome past. Bernieces family would die over that piano. For example, Boy Charles died in the boxcars in a fire after the piano was found missing. After this tragedy, the piano ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. A Comparative Look At Space And Law Essay A Comparative Look at Space and Law Space means what we want it to mean. Defined by those who occupy it, giving it a purpose and without it, it is nothing more than an empty area, blank and lifeless. The following two articles offer different perspectives on the use of this space as it relates to law. In one article, space provides certain function that determines how those who occupy it are to act, while in another it is a neutral space and welcoming space representing choice and the freedom; a public stage used to put on a performance and develop a professional identity. In Norman Spaulding s article The Enclosure of Justice: Courthouse Architecture, Due Process, and the Dead Metaphor of Trial, the focus is on adversarial space; the courthouse where confrontation takes place and justice is administered. With little said about this space Spaulding searches for deeper, unexplored connections between justice and the space in which it operates. Using a historical overview, he shows how courtroom structure has become increasingly enclosed signifying law s liberation from all political, commercial and social aspects. Furthermore, actual courtroom trials are becoming a dead metaphor as Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) offer better options, mass processing and immediate justice in private and fully enclosed settings. Spaulding concludes, complemented by history, there exists a movement towards isolation of traditional courtroom space, because it eliminates interruption the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

PSYC 121: Introduction Psychology 1 Assessing the Relationship between Cognitive Empathy and both Primary and Secondary Psychopathy A.Craig 300353012 Amanda Richardson Monday, 5:10 7:00pm, EA404A Abstract This investigation is aimed to find whether there is a relationship between cognitive empathy and primary and secondary psychopathy. A correlational design was used, in which the Levenson self report scale Levenson (1995) and the Reading Eyes Mind Test (Baron Cohen et al., 2001) were administered to 452 first year psychology students. Major results showed a weak, significant, negative correlation between primary psychopathy and empathy; there was no significant relationship between secondary psychopathy and empathy. Concluding lack of empathy potentially correlates with primary psychopathy whereas secondary psychopathy shows no noticeable significance to empathy. Assessing the Relationship between Cognitive Empathy and both Primary and Secondary Psychopathy Previous studies have looked into the topic of psychopaths (e.g. Michael R. Levenson, Kent A. Similarly, love and romance comics reinforced the desirability of women making choices and sacrifices for love. (Klein, 1993, p. 62) Duncombe and Marsden reported that in their own study, women told the interviewer they wanted their partner to signal attachment, by unprompted intimate or romantic gestures and actions, because this would make them feel emotionally special (Delamont, 2001). In addition, Williams found that emotional sustenance in marriage is especially important for women (Thompson amp; Walker, 1989). A woman s emotional need for companionship and love can then be seen to be largely fulfilled by a man, as conveyed in a woman s image of insufficiency (Cortese, 2008). A regular issue with marriage is when a woman feels that she has not achieved the level of emotional intimacy with her husband, which she needs, deserves or wants and thus, her unhappiness results in the contemplation of a divorce (Delamont, 2001). Women s desire for the affection of men consistently prompts them to attract men s attention. However, men are less expressive with words and often show their emotional intimacy through sexual activity (Delamont, 2001; Thompson amp; Walker, 1989). • 33. Similarities And Differences Between Baseball And Baseball Baseball and softball are two demanding sports that require dedication, hard work, and athletic ability. Softball was created to allow women to play a sport similar to baseball, without having to play with men, which decreases the number of injuries of female players. The equipment involved has similarities in design, but some differences were made to fit each sport for their specific needs. The rules for each sport are also very similar with some modifications that were constructed to make both sports unique. The way the two games are played is similar as well, but differences in strategy and how the sports are played also make them different. Many of the differences have been put into place to ensure injuries are reduced and allow for the games to be fairly played. The equipment utilized is not only to protect the players, but also make playing the positions easier. Softball and baseballplayers wear different styles of jerseys with numbers, baseball/softball pants, a belt, and cleats. The uniforms make identifying fellow teammates and the opponent easier. Both sports also use a glove to protect the athletes from injury to their hands, face, or any other part of their body. The glove also makes fielding and catching a ball much easier. The balls used in each sport have different characteristics. The softball is yellow in color, has a larger diameter, and has a core that does not allow the ball to travel as far as a baseball. A baseball, however, is white in color. The baseball also has a smaller diameter and has a core that allows the ball to go farther than a softball. The differences in equipment are strategically placed to help distinguish between baseball and softball. Similarities between the sports are important to keep them equal for both men and women. The rules are identical in many cases, but changes have been made to fit each sport specifically and to make the games fair. The amount of strikes and balls allowed for a person are the same for both baseball and softball. This rule enforces fairness between sexes for both sports. Another rule that helps keep equality is the infield fly rule. The infield fly rule is used to keep the defending team from purposefully dropping a fly ball to give them ... • 34. An Artificial Object Into Space During World War II From a historical standpoint, the space travel that Americans know today arrived when German scientists took the first effort toward sending an artificial object into space during World War II. In 1942, Germany accomplished its launching of the V 2 rocket, the first manmade rocket sent into space (Schombert). Of course, the Soviet Union followed suit, historians writing down the name Sputnik in history texts to describe the country s first successful, unmanned orbital launch, completed on October 4, 1957 (Schombert). Before the world could recover from the technological whiplash, the race to the heavens had already become a trend among several world powers, and at once, shooting objects into the void became a display of national power... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These dangerous endeavors lurk in a new unknown, and the journey to it is rife with explosive mishaps literally. Statistically, space travel is too worrisome and dangerous for private industries to maintain. Rather, of the 536 people who have travelled into space, 3.4 percent, or 18 astronauts, have died during missions (Silver 1). While this number may appear statistically insignificant, these sets of fatalities do not consider the overall risk potential, and the many other lives taken from astronaut training and non astronaut deaths that resulted from spaceflight related activities. In 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded 73 seconds into its flight, killing its entire crew. Many years later, the shuttle Columbia experienced a disastrous event on February 1, 2003, when the shuttle disintegrated over Texas and Louisiana upon reentrance of the mesosphere, killing another team. Now, Emery reports in his article that privately contributed space exploration continues this deadly trend, stating, The crash of the SpaceShipTwo was the second catastrophe in a gloomy week for the commercial space industry. In Melanie Martinez s music video she captures the opposite; in Dollhouse Martinez s demonstrates the corruption social norms and gender roles can have on a family. Martinez shows us that anyone can be affected by it, we just have to spot the signs before it gets out of hand. The first thing you notice in the music video is a dollhouse. The dollhouse is a two story furnished home with rooms to accommodate all the family members which consist of a father, mother, son and daughter. Already we can tell that the family belongs in a high social class because of the look of the house but to reassure the audience the director introduces the family wearing high class attire. The father wears a tailored black suit with glasses and a tie, the mother is in a light pink suit with heels and a red derby hat on, the son wears a button down white dress shirt with suspenders and black slacks while the girl wears a baby pink dress and a bow. • 37. Cause And Effect Of Stress Stress plays a prominent role in one s daily life. Thus, it is important to identify stress and learn to reduce and cope with stress in order to prevent stress related illnesses that may occur. Stress has a major influence upon one s health, thinking, behavior, and mood. Stress is commonly mistaken for generally evoking negative associations; however, it is actually part of the human experience that places pressure on people so that they may be able to perform at a higher level achievement. Nonetheless, when stress becomes too much to handle, or becomes chronic, it can affect an individual physically, mentally, behaviorally, and emotionally. What is stress? According to Debra L. Nelson and James C. Quick, in Organizational Behavior, Stress, or the stress response, can be described as the unconscious preparation to fight or flee that a person experiences when faced with any demand (103). When an individual is stressed, the body thinks it is under attack, releasing chemical messengers and hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol to prepare the body for physical action. Through the release of hormones, it enables a person to quickly respond to fight or flight. For example, a group of explorers are in the Amazon rainforest, and they come across a jaguar; this sends a signal to the individuals that a threat has approached, and sends information to their body giving them the fight or flight ability. Furthermore, stress can be classified into two different branches: internal and external. Internal is the ability to send messages and waves throughout our body, resulting in the release of chemicals and hormones. On the other hand, external is the ability to sweat, blush, itch, or anything that physically affects a person. Both of these factors control one s entire bodily function of stress. Stress can be both positive and negative, and can impact how one interact and function on a daily basis. Stress is commonly mistaken for generally evoking negative associations, however a little stress can actually be good for a person. Accordingly, when the body experiences a stressor, its fight or flight response kicks in as a way to protect oneself by staying focused, alert, and allowing one the extra energy he or she need ... During my first few weeks of clinical I really started to understand why patient care was something that we needed to know. In the beginning of my first term when I was taking Patient Care everything that we were being taught seemed like common sense; keep the patient warm, make sure they are comfortable, try to do the procedure accommodating to them, but as I went out into the field those little extra efforts seemed to not be important. My first day opened my eyes to how some medical professionals took care of their patients. As I was walking through the doors of the radiology department, I was taking in the atmosphere. Everyone had a purpose and was moving around like they were on a mission. The first patient I helped with was a man who was going in for CT. This patient had had a history of being on illegal drugs and came into the ER a lot for pain relievers. • 42. Learning Geometry Requires Steps Or Levels Learning Geometry requires steps or levels that need to be completed by students. These levels of learning need to be completed in a particular order, so that students can progress and move along to the next level. Difficulties in grasping geometric concepts by students may be caused by the lack of exposure to a particular level or the lack of preparation by their leaning facilitator. A combination of the two needs to be present for students to learn and maximize the learning experience. Instructors need to be aware how students learn and determine if they are a level appropriate for their age. If they are not at that level then, it is up to the instructor to make sure that students reach the desired level. Instruction should be modified to incorporate ways to assist those students that are not at their level. Van Hiele suggested that students must pass through five levels of learning in a sequence and must move level by level, so that they can learn appropriately. The levels are: visual, descriptive/analytic, abstract/relational, formal deduction, and rigor/mathematical. By the time a student enters high school they should be at formal deduction level and be able to create proofs. Students should know identify shapes, identify properties, and understand relationships. Having this levels of the Van Hiele model should be sufficient for students to comprehend high school geometry. Yet, educators feel that students are not at this level and emphasis should be ... The Priceless Treasure By Peggy Bacon In the illustration The Priceless Find (Antique Shop) , the artist Peggy Bacon is satirizing the idea of an antique by both emphasizing the idea of beauty and rarity which is considered directly with an antique as well as point out the literal definition of an antique . The artwork, created in 1943, was made in a time where America was preoccupied World War II. This historical detail allows the viewer furthermore to understating the reason why Bacon chose to point out the absurdity of antiques. Before we can look at Bacon s message, I must first state why the artwork is a humorous account of a real life event. This illustration was created two years after Peggy Bacon divorced her husband Alexander Brooks (Meng, 18). Though it could be plausible that the antique shop could symbolize of her broken marriage, argued with crackled paint, shattered mirror, and dark atmosphere, but Bacon is a realist (Tarbell, 32). Peggy Bacon was documented in an interview to never create scenes and caricatures but simply draw from her surroundings. Therefore making up a scene to symbolize an event in her life is not valid. As to why the artwork is a satirical representation of the real scene, I derived this from both Bacons love of satire created during her studies at the Arts Student League and from an excerpt taken from an interview with Bacon. In this interview, Bacon stated the main purpose of a caricature is to heighten the absurdity of its quality (Meng, 18). Though plausible this could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That is the purpose of our government to provide education to our children. In the Supreme Court case Mitchell vs. Helms the court ruled that taxpayers money can be used to provide certain materials for religious schools. So obviously it is not unconstitutional to fund private schools if they already decided to give materials to these schools. Therefore there is no evidence supporting the fact that the publics taxes should not go to private schools. Our job as a community and a society is to provide children with education. As stated in USA Today, 47% of school age students would use private schools if they had the right resources. Students should be able to decide where they want to get their education. ARP is a simple protocol that was never designed for authentication. Any end station that has access to the layer two environment can claim any IP address if the proper security measures are not taken. ARP spoofing or ARP poisoning occurs when an attacker s computer forges its credentials to allow the host to believe that it is the intended recipient. If the attackers computer forwards all of the data that is to be sent to the intended host it is very likely that the man in the middle would go undetected. At any time the attacker can make changes to the data that is forwarded, copy and use the data, or flood the network with erroneous packets that cause data collisions and effectively bring network traffic to a halt. The process of wardriving is a new threat that has surfaced with the popularity of 802.11 style wireless connections. Poor security with these devices allows an attacker virtually unrestricted access to the data link layer and beyond. It is not very difficult to walk around various areas in a busy metropolitan area and pick up unsecured wireless signals and gain access to private networks where the owner has little idea of you presence. The third layer is the network layer. In the network layer data is routed through various physical networks while traveling to a known host. Information contained in the network layer allows routers to make decisions on how the data gets to its destination. Security ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. The Recent Engagement Of Contemporary Islamic Thought With... Serhan Tanriverdi Contemporary Islamic Thought Dr. Ermin Sinanovic Reflection Paper The Recent Engagement of Contemporary Islamic Thought with Modernity in the West Modernization theory has been one of the master theoretical narratives to understand the major institutional and cultural transformation from traditional societies to modern ones. It was developed by the founders of sociology and has dominated the widespread understanding and explanations of many social differentiation processes including rationalization, individualization, urbanization, and secularization for several decades. Thus, sociologists believed that the consequences of modernization were unavoidable route and common destinations and patters for modern or all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They suggest that we should re systematize and correct the classical theory of modernization in the light of multiple modernities frameworks because multiple modernities do not assume that global modernity is derived from the West as a single pattern (source) and describe the possibility of a plural modernity experiences. In fact, there are many modernities, not only one single patter of modernization. These developments forced sociologists for a paradigm shift in the dominant one side understanding of western modernity. In this context, Islam and the discourse of western Muslim intellectuals have gradually gained visibility and significance through the continuing migration and the growth of new generations in the western societies. Western Islam also has emerged in the hearth of modernity; yet did not follow the same patters of classical modernization trends. However, it could not escape the hegemonic influence of modernity. As a result, western Islam is emerging not only as a response to the challenges (premises) of modernity, but also through a transformative dialectical engagement with the ethos of modernity, which gradually pave the path towards the rise of Islamic modernism (Islamic modernity) in the west. Hence, the multiple modernities thesis serves as a more adequate theoretical approach than the prevailing modernization, the secularization perspective or many other approaches to ... • 54. The Film Precious by Lee Daniels Essay When you think of the word poverty or poor what comes to mind? Some think of hunger, minorities, dirty areas, women, and homeless people. What about when you hear the term abuse ? For most people, abuse means physical; getting beat up or hit. Although abuse can mean getting beat up or hit, there is far more that follows. These stereotypes are very disadvantaging to the African Americanrace because they are putting out messages that you have to look a certain way to be attractive. Although this film is disadvantaging to many people, it is also very beneficial. I think people that come from the lower class or an abusive household can really benefit from this film. The main point of this film is to show people that you can achieve anything you want to do no matter what background you come from, and although it might be hard because of economical / personal issues you are not less of a person than anyone and you can still be successful. I love the idea of success because it doesn t really have a set definition. You don t necessarily need money to be/feel successful. You can work at Subway and still be successful while a twelve time Oscar winning actor can be successful. You sort of carve out your own success and make your own definition for it. This movie will also teach people that they are not on their own. Although you might think nobody is there for you, when you enter a room you don t know what everyone is thinking or how everyone feels; you might now even know everyone. It is kind of like when you re putting together a puzzle, you put certain pieces together and you get closer to finishing and you just need to keep trying to solve the puzzle because if you give up you just wasted your money on a puzzle ... • 55. Sassanid Persians Analysis One point of contention between Halsall and Heather is the labeling of the Sassanid Persians. The former said pays little mind to the Persians, saying that they were not considered to be barbarians (Halsall 52). He moves on to the next people with no explanation other that there was more to being barbarian than simply living outside the Roman Empire(Halsall 52). The latter, on the other hand, clearly states that they were thought of as a barbarian culture (Heather, 57 58). This causes the reader to question what exactly the term barbarian meant to the citizens of the Roman Empire and how this related to the Sassanid Persians. The label of barbarian was related to the lifestyle, morality, and martial skill of a group. The Sassanid Persians... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example of Persian military capability was Emperor Julian s failed invasion of Persia in 363 (Maas, 336). Not only did the emperor die due to wounds inflicted in battle, but his successor, Jovian, had to make a truce with the Persians in order to return home (Maas, 336). Considering the view that barbarians represented humanity s irrationality, the Romans would not have wanted to believe that their greatest military rivals were barbarians. Therefore, it is only natural that they did not label the Persians as such. One should remember that while they might have believed that Western barbarian cultures were less able to plan a battle due to a lack of reason, it does not mean that they were actually poor fighters. In fact, they could rival the Roman army in all but training and numbers (Halsall, 146). They were even able to defeat Roman troops from time to time. One example from the early empire, was the loss of three legions led by P. Quinctilius Varus to an alliance of Germanic fighters (Heather, 46). Nor did it meant that barbarian forces were seen as universally weak. Barbarian peoples had been incorporated into the army even when the empire was new (Halsall, 105). This inclusion could be seen in the potentially inherited ethnic names that certain regiments, even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
