Marigolds By Eugenia Collier Essay
Elements of a Short Story Essay Living in poverty and having to face one s crumbling society is
extremely stressful. In Eugenia Collier s short story, Marigolds, the main character, Lizabeth, and the
other citizens of the town she lives in, including her parents, her friends, and Miss Lottie, must learn
to cope with that stress, and in Lizabeth s case, learn how to deal with the effects of maturation. The
different types of conflict within Marigolds are man versus man, man versus society, and man versus
self because Lizabeth has to face peer pressure, the living conditions brought by the Great Depression,
as well as the development of her own emotions. Due to the lack of entertainment, Lizabeth and her
friends have to resort to bothering Miss Lottie for fun, and they compel Lizabeth to ransack the
marigolds Miss Lottie pours her love into. At first, she is hesitant to perform such an immature act, but
her friends continue to taunt her, jeering, You scared, Lizabeth? (Collier 3). Their attitude influences
her negatively;not only does it encourage behavior that is pointless and problematic, it also makes
Lizabeth feel as if she is somehow less of a person if she does ... Show more content on

The desire to continue seeing the world through rose tinted glasses despite any occurrences that may
force one to do otherwise is understandable;most individuals have likely experienced this emotion at
least once in their lives. This type of conflict is man versus self because Lizabeth is uncomfortable
with this change, as she wants to continue to have fun with the mind of a child but cannot help but feel
guilty for her actions. As a result of the problems she faces, Lizabeth becomes

Analysis Of Xxxtentacion s Song Everybody Dies In Their...
Music is a form of art that affects everyone in one way or another. Music is a piece of art that fully
reflects the artist s feelings or lifelong experiences. Art affects everyone emotionally and everyone can
relate to music because the lyrics are meaningful in every way just like a story. For example,
XXXTentacion s music reflects his feelings and his emotional struggles and how he had problems
with suicide and clinical depression. I relate to one of his songs, Everybody Dies in Their Nightmares
.
In this song, he talks about how he is trapped in his mind. The line Tired of feeling like I am trapped
in my damn mind demonstrates this very clearly. By this, he means that he is stuck feeling the same
emotions, is depressed and not able to change. I relate to this line from the song because I have dealt
with a lot of emotional issues related to my childhood. This song is a reminder of my past issues and
helps to remind myself that life is worth living and that all my efforts were worth it. XXXTentacion
has an introduction to his album 17 where he talks about how ... Show more content on

Everyone in their life as trouble with their emotions and how they are viewing life and XXXTentacion
is no different than the rest of us. In the song I chose, he talks about how he doesn t want to go outside
because of his anxiety. I relate to XXXTentacion in a way because I had problems finding friends all
the way until my ninth grade year due to my anxiety that I still have trouble with often. Tired of
feeling like my life is a damn game is another lyric I relate to. Throughout my life my parents have
used me as a way to upset the other parent by making them look bad. Being a child of divorced
parents who have both remarried, it always seems as though the parents are playing a game of who is
better than the other. I feel like a chess piece in the boardgame of

Srinivasa Ramanujan
Srinivasa Ramanujan was one of India s greatest mathematical geniuses. He made contributions to the
analytical theory of numbers and worked on elliptic functions, continued fractions, and infinite series.
Ramanujan was born in his grandmother s house in Erode on December 22, 1887. When Ramanujan
was a year old his mother took him to the town of Kumbakonam, near Madras. His father worked in
Kumbakonam as a clerk in a cloth merchant s shop. When he was five years old, Ramanujan went to
the primary school in Kumbakonam although he would attend several different primary schools before
entering the Town High School in Kumbakonam in January 1898. At the Town High School,

Ramachandra Rao told him to return to Madras and he tried, unsuccessfully, to arrange a scholarship
for Ramanujan. In 1912 Ramanujan applied for the post of clerk in the accounts section of the Madras
Port Trust. Ramanujan was appointed to the post of clerk and began his duties on 1 March 1912.
Ramanujan was quite lucky to have a number of people working round him with training in
mathematics. In fact the Chief Accountant for the Madras Port Trust, S N Aiyar, was trained as a
mathematician and published a paper On the distribution of primes in 1913 on Ramanujan s work. The
professor of civil engineering at the Madras Engineering College, T. Griffith was also interested in
Ramanujan s abilities and, having been educated at University College London, knew the professor of
mathematics there, namely M. Hill. He wrote to Hill on 12 November 1912 sending some of
Ramanujan s work and a copy of his 1911 paper on Bernoulli numbers. Hill replied in a fairly
encouraging way but showed that he had failed to understand Ramanujan s results on divergent series.
The recommendation to Ramanujan that he read Bromwich s Theory of infinite series did not please
Ramanujan much. Ramanujan wrote to E. W. Hobson and H. F. Baker trying to interest them in his
results but neither replied. In January 1913 Ramanujan wrote to G H Hardy having seen a copy of his
1910 book Orders of infinity. Hardy studied the long list of unproved theorems which Ramanujan

The Power Of Boarding Schools
Fulfilling god s plan, America forced Native Americans to attend boarding schools where the ideals of
Christianity were implemented. In Abigail Graham s article, The Power of Boarding Schools, a
History of Education professor at Indiana University writes that boarding schools is a tool used to
reinforce one s ideas into individuals. Graham writes, Boarding schools...significantly impact the
social development of their students; for this reason...schools used [this] as tools for reinforcing power
relationships and cultural identities. America s goal was to eliminate any existence of the Native s
culture by constantly embedding the values of being an American and being Christian inside the
school. The boarding school is completely new to the Natives, and having someone tell them what to
do was something unheard of. Within a school s system the students have the least authority, the
teacher is second in line, and the principal is the highest. The students were of Native American
descent, of course the teachers were white, and this demonstrates the power relationship with the
Native Americans and the Whites; the whites had more power than the other race. Children were
targets because if America were able to change the younger generation s ideals, than as they get older
their offsprings will be what America envisioned, a non Native American who has no knowing of their
culture. In Mary A. Stout book, Native American Boarding Schools, the author mentions that boarding

The Role Of Realism In The Yellow Wallpaper
The literary movement of the first story The Yellow Wallpaper is realism because of the events of the
story itself. The story s plot is about a woman who s mental health goes bad postpartum. After a while,
she goes insane and kills herself because she sees figures in the wallpaper. Realism titles were often
about the average person and their troubles and successes. The story is about an average woman who
goes insane postpartum, which was common during that time. This contributes to realism, which was
about the problems of the poor and average person. The literary movement of the second story The
Machine Stops is romanticism because of the characters. For example, the main character Vashti treats
the machine like a god. Organized religion

Should Students Be Able To Graduate In Three Years
Most kids now want to graduate in three years, but it s not as easy as they think, they will have to
work really hard. Students should be able to graduation in three years instead of four. It will lead to
success and much more lately in life. I agree that students should be able to graduate in three years
instead of four, by start making money, attended college early, and decrease high school dropouts.
First off, students can make money earlier by graduating faster. For example by getting a job early
they can have more experience in the work force. Teen having more experience will have better
chance of getting a job that provides more money. The teen experience will increase rapidly through
time. This will benefit them by providing them

The PERT method requires three estimates of time; optimistic, most likely and pessimistic. This
method assumes that actual project times are distributed according to the beta probability distribution.
Most time estimates often exceed the best estimate or the most likely estimate because managers like
to be optimistic with their time estimates. Communication The product design department states once
a product is developed it is thrown over the wall to manufacturing. Lack of communication between
departments can cause problems with product quality, increase costs and lower productivity. One way
to resolve this is to create a quality and safety position. This position would be responsible for
gathering suggestions from the manufacturing and product design managers regarding new product
challenges and/or reservations. After analyzing this information it would be shared with the designers
to improve the product prior to it going to market. Question 4 Evaluate the plans and the expected
results from the new CAD CAM system. Implementing the restructuring plan, network scheduling
method, change in communications and quality control measures will improve the product process at
FHE. These changes will also improve costs, employee moral and increase speed and delivery of new
products. FHE will continue to see increases profits and maintain their competitiveness in the market.

The Meaning Of Love, By John Clare
This poem was written by John Clare, an English poet. This poem is about love and he used the nature
to describe love because many poems of John Clare was about rural life and scenery. This poem will
present the love that is secret love. There are three stanzas, twenty four lines and eight lines in each
stanza. In the first stanza, in the line 1 2, when the speaker was young, he fell in love with a woman
and he kept his love all along. He never told her. The word buzzing of fly was like a sound of his heart
that was always loud in his heart and he cloud not control it. It was like he could not keep this secret
love. In the line 3 5, he did not dare to gaze her face. He felt that it had something in his mind that
made him could not dare to see her face like he had sin that was dark and could not touch the light.
The word light refers to her face. In the line 6 8, when he went to somewhere, he always thought of ...

It was hard to hide and forget this love. Even though he tried to leave his love in the field and the town
that he found her, he could not stop thinking about her. The breeze made him fall in the daydream
again and the bees still was singing the love song in his mind. The word bass (line 20) refers to the
word buzzing (line 2 in first stanza). In the first stanza the buzzing of fly was the sound of his heart,
but in the third stanza the sound of his heart was louder than first stanza because the line 20 said that
the fly s bass turned a lion s roar. It means that it was hard to hide his love and could not keep his love
anymore. It felt like his heart was going to burst. If he met the silence or he felt alone, his mind still
thought of her. The word tongue in line 21 refers to the woman that he fell in love. The picture of her
will appear and remind him every summer. Finally, it could not prove that why and how it happened

Homicide (Latin: homicidium, Latin: homo human being + Latin: caedere to cut, kill) means the
killing of a human being [Irving, Shae, ed (2009) and may be lawful where, for example, fatal force
was necessary to defend oneself. The two most important offences of unlawful homicide are murder
and manslaughter. Although both are common law offences, elements of murder and manslaughter

The Development of Gross negligence manslaughter
For many years the courts have used the terms recklessness and gross negligence to describe the fault
required for involuntary manslaughter, other than constructive manslaughter, without any clear
definition of either term. It was not clear whether these terms were merely two ways of describing the
same thing, or whether they represented two distinct conditions of fault.
All previous cases must now be read in the light of Prentice, Adomako and Holloway in the Court of
Appeal, and Adomako in the House of Lords. The background to the decisions is that the House of
Lords decided in Seymour that the law governing involuntary manslaughter, other than unlawful act
manslaughter, was the same as that of the statutory offence (now repealed) of causing death by
reckless driving, that is, that the fault required was Lawrence recklessness, as set out above subject to
the omission of any reference to a risk of causing damage to property. There had to be a risk of
physical injury to some other person [Kong Cheuck Kwnan]. According to this controversial decision
of the House of Lords in Seymour, the Lawrence direction was comprehensive and of general

Sociological Perspectives Of Sociology And Its Impact On...
Sociology is an important part of today s society as it is all around us and is in everything we do.
Sociology is the study of, the behaviour of people within society. It helps us to understand how society
works and how the impact of relationships and interactions between people influence society.
Sociology is shown through relationships, cultures, class, religion, education and upbringing.
Sociology has different sociological perspectives for example symbolic interactionism and
functionalism. Symbolic interactionism studies individuals and small groups within society and how
they behave, interact and believe about how society is what it is. Symbolic Interactionism was created
by Herbert Blumer. He based symbolic interactionism on three things which were that people act on
the meanings of things, social interactions build meanings and meanings depend and are modified by
people interacting with each other. Through communication and language, symbols are provided to
understand the world that we live in. Smoking is an example of symbolic interactionism as teenagers
believe it is cool to smoke, even though it Is bad for you and could lead to killing you but they think it
makes them look good in front of their friends.
Functionalism is the belief of everyone in society sharing the same norms and values that get passed
on through generations. Functionalists see society like a human body they believe that if one thing
stops working then everything else will slowing stop working

3. To what degree do you think Iger s calmer and less confrontational approach to running Disney has
helped the company position itself to survive a major economic recession?
When Bob Iger succeeded Michael Eisner, he was considered a safe Mr. Inside who was a competent
operator and an unobjectionable personality.
Iger has steered Disney shrewdly since succeeding Michael Eisner. Where Eisner seemed forever
awash in controversies, Iger has chosen a shrewder, less confrontational path. It has helped Iger build
a stellar reputation on Wall Street, where the money barons don t like provocation.
His calmer approach helped repair key relationships that were strained during Eisners reign as CEO.
He believed in being productive instead of fighting wars and that gave a sign of relief to the company.
He was not too adherent to the company tradition rather he focused on being more innovative. He
encouraged risk taking as a means of innovation and development. He took risk to expand Disney
business adding broad mix of business to its portfolio like ABC family, ESPN and Disney channels.

children s parents cannot afford their child and their needs (especially education), they will send them

without the proper knowledge of these organizations in rural cities there is no way of these parents of

moon, with one bright star / Within the nether tip (line 210 211) is a pagan symbol signifying the
absence of God.
It is only when the Mariner began to bless all living things and saw beyond his own self that the
Albatross fell off. He then felt a connection with nature and God, for Heaven sent down rain that
refreshed the ancient Mariner and angelic spirits led him onward. He needed to change and become
penitent before he could be rid of the guilt. In repenting, he was given a penance of life: whenever his
heart burns within him, he must tell his tale to those who are meant to hear it.
The Wedding Guest became wise and he realized that he needed a change of heart. He, like the
Ancient Mariner, needed to change his ways so that the Albatross s blood all the sin in his life would
be washed away and his soul would be shrieved. And it is only when he begins to consider the
significance and consequences of his actions that he will become closer to God and nature and
develop connections with each. There is hope for the Wedding Guest, for it says, He rose the morrow
morn. (line 625) With the coming of each new day, there also come the hope

Boeing Case Summary
The Boeing Aerospace Corporation was under investigation by the Justice Department in 2003, for
two high profile cases involving Pentagon contracting scandals, the judgment against the corporation
at that time was one of the fines against a military contracting company, the investigation took three
years and at the conclusion Boeing was fined $615 million and their reputation was smeared, their
stocks Shares of Boeing fell $1.15 to close at $85.86. Case one: in July 2003, the Pentagon stripped
Boeing of a $1 billion dollars in A rocket launch business for possessing proprietary documents stolen
from a competitor, Lockheed Martin. Nine employees were disciplined, while two executives were
indicted and Phillip Condit the Chief Executive resigned even though he was not charged with
improper acts. Boeing could not work with the federal government for twenty months. Case one:

Identify Underlying Causes and Theories
In our previous discussion, we determined the specific area of research, which was how the field of
computer science is invaluable to the field of medical research. The result of this came from analyzing
three research papers that focused on the past and recent use of computer science within the
conjunction of the life science field. It showed that with new technology rapidly growing, computer
science has not only become extremely important to the medical science field, it has become an
extremely vital part of the life science field. Now that we have accomplished this, to adequately
concentrate on this we will continue our research by further conducting a review of more literature on

The State Of The Electoral College
Tyranny naturally arises out of democracy. These words from the Greek philosopher Plato summarize
the most fundamental concern of the delegates to the Constitutional Convention when they considered
what the best way to conduct presidential elections would be. While, in concept, democracy sounds
like the fairest form of government, in practice, it is less than ideal. Fear of tyranny of the majority
prompted discussion over how the president should be elected. The Founders chose the Electoral
College which incorporates democracy, federalism, and republicanism for presidential selection,
because it provided for the best balance of power. The Electoral College was the product of no small
amount of debate during the Constitutional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While he agreed that the sense of the people should operate in the choice of the [president], he made
clear the importance of afford[ing] as little opportunity as possible to tumult and disorder. This would
require the will of the people to be tempered by an intermediate body of electors. Not only would this
be a compromise between the competing ideas in the Constitutional Convention, it would prevent any
one group from having undue discretion when it came to electing the most powerful person in
government. Of these competing ideas, two are prominently reflected in the Electoral College. The
first is democracy, an idea largely advanced by Alexis de Tocqueville in Democracy in America.
Democracy, loosely defined as the direct representation of people in government, seems the most
logical way to conduct an election. The second is federalism. Understanding how this could become
problematic, the founders decided to include states in the election process. According to Federalist 68,
this would allow the people of each State [to] choose a number of persons as electors...who shall
assemble...and vote for some fit person as President. This balance of individual and state discretion
would soon be codified in Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution.
The Electoral College has remained steadfast in our ever changing world. What

Plessy V. Korematsu Research Paper
Throughout history people s views on certain subjects have often changed, and with these changes
have come disagreements. In some cases, when one disagrees on a subject, such as a law, there will be
a dissent of some kind, most likely going against the law. Even so, people will still voice their
opinions if it goes against one law or another in most cases. People will stand up for their beliefs when
there are consequences because keeping their basic civil rights intact is more important to them than
abiding by the law.
People have stood up for their beliefs all throughout history, and have faced many consequences for
doing so. One example of a man standing up for his beliefs is in 1892 a man by the name of Homer

Analysis Of The Story The Story Of An Hour By Kate Chopin
Death is the wish of some, relief of many, and the end of all. Death, which is often seen as a great evil,
can sometimes be seen as something for the greater good of someone. To many, death is a liberator
and a comforter. It is a journey we ll all have to embark, sooner or later. Death can be the beginning of
the end to many people, an event which can bring everlasting happiness, but also a shattering sadness.
The short story The Story of an Hour, by Kate Chopin, which was published in 1894, presents a not so
common viewpoint of death. One could say that this story has brought about a brief renewing love for
life with one of the main characters. On the other hand, The Moths by Helena Maria Viramontes
shows a painful reaction to death, that is quite relatable to what one may usually experience. The death
in The Moths can be looked at as a moment of grief in pain, but also a moment for maturity and
rebirth. Moreover, The Story of an Hour depicts death as a problem solver and something that can
bring unimaginable amounts of freedom. Death can be looked at as perhaps a sort of liberation that
can bring about a renewal for life. In other aspects, death can be viewed as a moment of grief and
pain. Lastly, death may work as a spark which brings another loved one back into your life.
Renewing love for life and freedom are two things that many suddenly feel once they ve finished
grieving from the loss of a loved one. As seen in Chopin s The Story of an Hour the main

Persuasive Essay On Intensive Driving
INTENSIVE DRIVING LESSONS DEEDS
Intensive driving alludes to a guideline strategy in which students are instructed how to drive in a
short period of time. The typical driving lessons would take few weeks to mouths to finish; intensive
driving lessons, on the other hand, is especially similar to an intense training that is finished within
weeks. Since the lessons over a drawn out stretch of time is confined into week, the lessons for
intensive driving regularly goes on for up to eight hours per day for five back to back days.
You had a driving lesson, yet there are still limitations that have been set for you. Spots where you are

How Did William Tweed Lead To The Tamobilier Scandal
William Tweed was the boss of Tammany Hall. Tammany Hall was a political organization that was
formed in 1789 and was in opposition to the Federalist Party. The business was very popular in its
time for the willingness it had to help the city s poor and immigrant populations. William Tweed,
however, corrupted the company s reputation, and turned it into an image of greed and twisted motive.
As political boss, Mr. Tweed used his formal and informal authority to make profit for himself and the
other accomplices. The group altogether became known as the Tweed ring, and somehow they found a
way to extort an estimated $30 million to $200 million. Tweed used this money to become one of the
city s largest landowners by the end of the 1860 s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This company was given contracts to build railroads. Congressmen were then offered great shares in
the construction which allowed the congressmen to approve federal payments without paying attention
to the expenses. This meant that the railroad builders made large amount of profit, but had no idea
how they were affecting the railroad. The railroad companies were entirely impoverished by the end of
the whole process. Those involved in the scandals realized through time that much more money could
be gained from construction contracts than from operating the completed road. The vice president at
the time, Schuyler Colfax, who was then Speaker of the house, had even bought shares. When the
scandal became a public matter, James Blaine appointed an investigation committee ran by
Representative Luke Poland in 1872. Mr. Blain said that, A charge of bribery is the gravest that can be

Ratios And Ratio Analysis
Ratios Ratio Analysis Reading a company s financials requires a deep understanding of financial
statements and relationships between them. Calculating different performance indicators from the
statements requires knowing each sector/segment in them. Finally, the numbers by itself do not say
anything specific or definitive about a company because numbers need to be compared to the
historical figures of the same company, competitors and an industry. Ratios and their analysis are
helpful in revealing at least part of a story, but as with the statements numbers ratios by itself are not
useful until they compared to the historical ratios of a company and to other companies within the
industry. There are four categories of ratios: Profitability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, any ratio must be computed correctly. It means, that we should now how a ratio was computed
before making any conclusions. As with the numbers in the financial statements any ratio can be
calculated to look more favorable. Second, any ratio by itself is meaningless unless we know a
company s industry. In addition, we should know what strategy a company is pursuing. Otherwise,
looking at low leverage and liquidity ratios while a company is aggressively expanding and using
every possible way to finance that, may lead us to the wrong assumptions. Third, comparing current
ratios with the past ones should include any conditions that directly affect a company s performance
from the inside and outside. For example, economic conditions (recession); maybe an industry has
changed; or maybe a company was sold, merged, went through bankruptcy or CEO stepped down;
maybe a company from a hardware manufacturer became a service company like Xerox or IBM; even
things like currency exchange rates do affect a company s performance. Fourth, benchmarking a
company to other companies requires a careful selection of competitors. Not only the size matters, but
also if the products or services are similar (Dell Apple, while in the same industry, do not have the
same products except sharing the category computers). Moreover, a different business strategies these
companies are using matter. Fifth,

A Research Study On Financial Aid
DISCUSSION
Not all El Paso ECHS students decide to enroll this four year Hispanic Serving institution, attributing
to the relatively low number of cases (n=315). The ECHS students who enrolled in other universities
may have successfully completed the ECHS model in their respective institutions, but were not
considered in the study. The low number of ECHS graduates (n=125) can be attributed to different
factors; such as financial aid and data dates. For example, if a student does not meet the academic
standards in one of the semesters, the student may not qualify for financial aid the following year.
Many ECHS students rely on financial aid, due to their low income status. A lack of financial aid
could force these students to take out a loan, get a job, and take fewer classes (putting them behind). It
is also important to note that this study was done using data from the Fall 2009 to the Spring 2012
semesters. Graduation rates could have increased significantly from the Fall 2012 to Spring 2015
semesters.
The study proved that first term GPA is a strong indicator of future academic performance, supported
with a strong significant difference. This finding supported our hypothesis that a student s first term
GPA is crucial to overall academic performance and the successful completion of the ECHS model.
Positive intervention upon entry to a four year university by counselors and educational staff could
potentially increase first term suc cess. The data also showed that graduate

and the different ways Halloween is celebrated around the world. Like in the U.S, Mexico and Japan.
According to History.com, Halloween originated about 2000 years ago on Nov. 1 with the ancient
Celtics festival of Samhain (sah win) that was located in Ireland. The Celts would leave wine and
bread outside of their homes for the dead because they believed that on October 31st the dead would
arise and roam as ghost. So when people would step out of their house on that day, they would put on
masks to try and blend in with them. In the 8th century (701 800) they changed Samhain day to All

November 2, Friends and family then visit the tombstones of the deceased to honor them by cutting
the grass surrounding their grave, making repairs to their tombstones, and by painting it. They then
decorate the grave with flowers, paper streamers or wreaths. They bring picnics and sit around the
gravesites sharing stories of the departed and eating foods such as spicy meat dishes, batter bread and
lots of sweets; some shaped like skulls. It is common for get togethers to include tequila and mariachi.
Towns also throw parades and people dress as skeletons and dance in the streets. Some families attend

disaster recovery plans and whether or how the plan has been executed. Whether the plan was

Disaster recovery plan defines how an organization will deal with a possible disasters whether is
natural or man made. A disaster is just an event that makes the business process of normal functions
impossible or challenging. A disaster recovery plan comprises of the protections taken so that the
effects of a disaster will be mitigated and the organization will be able to continue or rapidly resume
their normal operation roles. Normally, disaster recovery planning includes an analysis or risk
assessment of the organizations processes and stability needs; it may also consist a major focus on
disaster prevention. Disaster recovery plan in the United States usually has been controlled by State
and local governments, with the Federal government as a supporting role. While we remain truthful to
the basic constitutional principle, we must also accept that events such as hurricane Katrina and the
terrorist attacks of 9/11, require the government, both local and State to tailor the application of these
principles to the

Limb Reduction And The Prosthetic Rehabilitation Process
Introduction
There is an estimated 1.9 million people living with an amputated limb in America, each day 500 more
Americans loss a limb (Ziegler et al., 2008). Of those who lose a limb later in life, 60 80% of them
experience phantom limb pain. (Nikolajsen et al., 2001) Phantom limb pain refers to a pain or
sensation that seems to come from the limb that was amputated. ( Nikolajsen et al., 2001) Of those
who are congenital amputees, an estimated 1500 of them are born with upper limb reduction, while
750 of them are born with a lower limb reduction. (Canfield et al, 2006) Limb reduction refers to a
defect during birth that causes a part of a limb or the entire limb to fail to fully form during pregnancy.
( Vasluian et al, 2013) A look within the quality of life of these various forms of amputees may
produce viable information that could be used to assist in the prosthetic rehabilitation process.
With such differences within the amputee community, there could be a possibility of certain factors
uniquely effecting the quality of life before, during, and after prosthetic rehabilitation. Amputees and
prosthetics are often viewed from a general perspective by the public. We often do not look further
then what we see with our eyes, allowing sympathy to take the place of genuine research regarding
amputees and prosthetics. The rehabilitation process for those who require limb prosthesis can be

The main reason these women stay is because they are single mothers that sadly do not have other job

group lecture, the community of the Massachusetts Bay Colony had become so hardened in their
Puritan values that the sand that made up the community (the people) became glass. The values of the
community Anne Hutchinson, a spiritual advisor with her own interpretations of the Bible, held the

This idea went strictly against the authority, not because they were actually teaching a covenant of
works, but because Hutchinson was challenging their views whether they were true or not. Any
corruption in the authority seen by the community could disrupt the order of the society and cause
anarchy for the masses. John Winthrop, a puritan lawyer as wells as an authoritative figure in the
Massachusetts Bay Colony thought highly of Hutchinson, claiming she a woman of ready wit and
bold spirit (Foner 74). He felt no ill will towards her specifically, but once she went against the
authority and criticized the ministers, she broke away from the society, becoming a force pushing
against the glass and threatening to break its very foundations. Only three years after her arrival in
1634, Anne Hutchinson was put on trial for antinomianism and sedition. This trial became the contact

Introduction To Gun Control Essay
English Research Paper Gun Control Introductory If you take guns away from legal gun owners, then
the only people who would have guns would be the bad guys. Bruce Willis. Americans of the age of
twenty one should be able to own guns, with a mandatory background and mental check before
purchase. Before any firearm sale at antique shops, background checks should be performed. Parents
should keep unloaded weapons locked away in a safe place, and should talk to their children about
gun safety, and why it is important. Before shooting on the range, kids should be safely taught how to
dry fire (if possible), and learn how to safely handle guns. Unsafe gun handling should never be
permitted.
History
The Second Amendment states, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state
the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. In other words, people should
freely be able to access guns, in order to keep our country safe. 464,033 total gun deaths occurred
from 1999 2013. There were 270,237 suicides, 174,773 homicides, and 9,983 unintentional deaths.
Firearms were said to be the 12th leading cause of all deaths. Guns were the leading cause of death by
homicide (66.6% of all homicides) and suicide (52.2% off all suicides) (Should More Gun Control

Chicago had 2,089 shooting victims including at least 390 murders. Approximately 50,000 guns were
recovered by Chicago Police Department between 2011 and March 2012. Guns came from all 50
states, more than half from outside Illinois (Should More Gun Control Laws Be Enacted in the United
States?¬). In Nevada, voters barely approved a measure to expand background checks to private gun
sales and transfers, with just 50.45% voting in favor (Sanburn). Most of private gun sales will not

Agriculture-the Alleopathic Effect of Weeds on Crops
Practical Research Report Assessment.
Allelopathy and interference and the effect they have on plant growth.
Allelopathy occurs in plants. Many plants produce chemicals that may be harmful or beneficial to
other plants. In some cases a species can produce chemicals that can prevent the growth or
germination of another species. An example of this is Australian native plants such as Casuarinas and
Eucalypts which produce allelochemicals that prevent competition of other plants. This is a form of a
defence mechanism in order to survive. A negative effect of Allelopathy includes Patterson s Curse.
Patterson s curse releases allelochemicals that inhibit the germination and growth of other plants.

Patterson s Curse was the most dominant weed in the experiment. Out of the 50 seeds that were
watered by Patterson s Curse tea only 8 of the seeds reached germination. This is because of the strong
allelochemicals that are released by the weed that take over the plant.
A similar result was seen by Blue Weed which is a very close relative of Patterson s Curse. Blue Weed
sufficiently stunted germination of the seeds with only 17 out of 50 seeds reaching germination. This
is because of the strong allelochemicals released by the plant.
Saffron thistle also had a clear negative impact on the seeds with only 21 out of the 50 seeds reaching
germination. Saffron Thistle is a fierce competitor for most plants because of its hardiness and
tolerance of low rainfall allows it to out do the competition.
Broom and Sorrel both had a minimal impact on the seeds with 36 out of the 50 seeds reaching
germination for each. Broom and Sorrel are not very strong competitors.
The control was almost a 100% success with 49 of the seeds reaching germination.
The experiment carried out conformed with the scientific protocol. In this experiment independent

Research Paper On Frederic Chopin
When deciding on a composer from the romantic period to research, I realized that I didn t have much
insight or knowledge on the topic. I chose Frederic Chopin using completely superficial reasoning: He
is of Polish descent and so am I. I also found that most of his works were solo piano pieces, and that
really appealed to me for some reason. Chopin was born Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin in the small
town of Zelazowa Wola, just outside of Warsaw, Poland on March 1st, 1810. His father was a French
native who immigrated to Poland in 1787, and joined the Polish National Guard, severing his ties with
his former homeland. Chopin s mother was from a poor, but respected Polish family. They married in
1806 and had their four children in quick succession soon after. Although the father made his living by
tutoring the children of Polish nobles in French, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
TB is highly contagious and easily spread through the air. The fact that he suffered for most of his life,
paired with the fact that the people around him were not also dropping like flies from it, makes me
question if Chopin was really suffering from Cystic Fibrosis. CF, a chronic genetic lung disease, could
also have been the cause of his younger sister s illness that she died of. These are just my own
thoughts and opinion on that subject. * Living in Paris, Chopin was in the elite artistic social circles of
the time. It is in those circles that he met an outgoing, author who penned under the name George
Sand. George was actually a woman named Amandine Aurore Lucille Dupin Dudevant who was a
major figure in Parisian culture. Artistically, they were on the same level. Personally, they were polar
opposites. This might have been what the attraction was that they had for one another. Chopin was
quiet and reserved, while Sand was a cigar smoking woman who often dressed in men s clothing. (V.

Henry Jenkin s Transmedia Storytelling
Riverdale is a television series that is based on the Archie comic books and can be considered an
example of transmedia storytelling according to Henry Jenkin s criteria in his article Transmedia
Storytelling 101. The series follows Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, and Jughead,
characters from the Archie comic books, as the town of Riverdale is dealing with the aftermath of
Jason Blossom s death. Riverdale puts a mysterious and dark twist on the Archie comic books.
However, the characters and setting carryover from the comic books, which creates the argument that
Riverdale could be considered an example of transmedia storytelling. Riverdale is an example of
Henry Jenkin s transmedia storytelling as it expands the market for Archie ... Show more content on

The show permits people who have never read the Archie comic books to enjoy it, but it still has
elements from the comic books that people will enjoy too. Henry Jenkin s in his blogpost Transmedia
Storytelling 101 states, Transmedia storytelling practices may expand the potential market for a
property by creating different points of entry for different audience segments (Jenkins). As seen in the
case of Riverdale, the market surrounding the Archie comic books is expanding from the comic books
to a television series based on the comic books. Riverdale appeals to a teen and young adult
demographic and this allows for people who may not have grown up with the Archie comics to
become familiar with the characters. It also provides a darker series of events than what was portrayed
in the Archie comics which may appeal to a different audience than the comics. Additionally, viewers
of the television series who have never read the comic books may start reading them because of their
interest in the television show. Accordingly, people who are fans of the comic books may be drawn to
Riverdale because it is based on the comic books. Therefore, this creates several entry points for
people to become involved in Riverdale and the Archie comic

The Nigerian Stock Market and Its Impact on the Economy
CHAPTER ONE
OVERVIEW
Nigeria, like many other African countries, was created from a multi ethnic, socially and culturally
diverse people, situated between the Equator and the tropic of cancer, its climate and vegetation can
afford the growth of many tropical commodities such as cocoa, groundnuts, palm produce and rubber.
Starting from a low technological base after political independence in 1960, the country embarked on
the arduous task of building a state with one identity by integrating the different ethnicities and
transforming the barter economy into financial exchange economy. The country provided
infrastructure and social amenities for a very young population. Over the years, policies were pursued
in order to achieve the goal of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fakiyesi, O.M. in his paper also said that the poor in Nigeria have limited access to savings and credit
facilities, good roads, pipe borne water, innovative technology and low output markets. They are
predominantly in subsistence agriculture and in petty trading, utilising traditional input. This is why
the role of the capital market as agent of growth and development is very important, thus this role has
been subject of concern and has drawn comments from different fora. It is under this background this
study was proposed, to further clarify the symbiotic relationship between the capital market and
economic development.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Economic advancement and allocation of the aggregate investment in an economy for production of
goods and services are too prominent factors in our national development. The importance of capital
market can be ascertained from the increasing emphasis and recognition accorded to investment as
veritable instruments of development by policy makers in Nigeria and the world over.
Capital mobilisation and allocation are very essential if the regular features of poor infrastructural
facilities (i.e. bad roads/poor road networks, lack of electricity, water, indecent accommodation,
inadequate educational institutions, lack of health centres and poor

Coachman Essay
Women had very little opportunities before Title IX existed, especially in sports. They were not able to
participate in any organized sports because they were only designed for men. Women only played
sports or participated in any physical activities recreationally and without rules. In the past, many
believed that engaging in physical activity was harmful for women s health, especially when they
were in their menstruation period. Obviously, this idea was thought by a man who believed that it is
only fair for women to limit their level of physical activity. However, this did not stop women from
going against the norm; many began to value physical activities more as participation and interest
increased. This drove them to become more competitive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coachman for instance, had to improvise her training when she first fell in love with track and field;
she ran barefoot in fields or dirt roads and only had access to old equipment or had to make her own
equipment. For example, to practice her high jump she would attach a rope on sticks and practice with
just that. She was very creative. Her perseverance to excel caught the eye of her high school s boy s
track and field coach, Harry E. Lash, who eventually helped her earn a scholarship at Tuskegee
Institute, in Tuskegee, Alabama. Coachman had to compete barefoot during her first competition but
still manage to break high school and college level high jump records during the Amateur Athletic
Union (AAU) competitions, finally dominating the AAU competitions. Coachman, however, did not
become popular until the Olympic Games of 1948, where she set a high jump record, winning her the
gold medal and making her the first black woman to win an Olympic gold medal and she became the
first black woman to also earn an endorsement deal by the Coca Cola Company ( Alice Coachman,
2016). She was even invited at the White House to meet the President and was celebrated with a
motorcade that traveled from Atlanta to her hometown in Albany. Hearing that sounds like she had a
good experience on her way home, but that was not the case. Coachman still returned to a segregated
home and even though she was honored with a motorcade parade, her audience and fans had to, by
law, stand separately and sit separately inside the auditorium where the mayor honored her
accomplishments. In addition, the mayor refused to shake her hand because ...he refused to shake the
hand of a woman who has shaken the hand of the President, a King, and a Count and even Coachman
had to enter and exit the auditorium from a side door (Ingram,

  • 3. Marigolds By Eugenia Collier Essay Elements of a Short Story Essay Living in poverty and having to face one s crumbling society is extremely stressful. In Eugenia Collier s short story, Marigolds, the main character, Lizabeth, and the other citizens of the town she lives in, including her parents, her friends, and Miss Lottie, must learn to cope with that stress, and in Lizabeth s case, learn how to deal with the effects of maturation. The different types of conflict within Marigolds are man versus man, man versus society, and man versus self because Lizabeth has to face peer pressure, the living conditions brought by the Great Depression, as well as the development of her own emotions. Due to the lack of entertainment, Lizabeth and her friends have to resort to bothering Miss Lottie for fun, and they compel Lizabeth to ransack the marigolds Miss Lottie pours her love into. At first, she is hesitant to perform such an immature act, but her friends continue to taunt her, jeering, You scared, Lizabeth? (Collier 3). • 4. Analysis Of Xxxtentacion s Song Everybody Dies In Their... Music is a form of art that affects everyone in one way or another. Music is a piece of art that fully reflects the artist s feelings or lifelong experiences. Art affects everyone emotionally and everyone can relate to music because the lyrics are meaningful in every way just like a story. For example, XXXTentacion s music reflects his feelings and his emotional struggles and how he had problems with suicide and clinical depression. I relate to one of his songs, Everybody Dies in Their Nightmares . In this song, he talks about how he is trapped in his mind. The line Tired of feeling like I am trapped in my damn mind demonstrates this very clearly. By this, he means that he is stuck feeling the same emotions, is depressed and not able to change. I relate to this line from the song because I have dealt with a lot of emotional issues related to my childhood. This song is a reminder of my past issues and helps to remind myself that life is worth living and that all my efforts were worth it. Tired of feeling like my life is a damn game is another lyric I relate to. Throughout my life my parents have used me as a way to upset the other parent by making them look bad. Being a child of divorced parents who have both remarried, it always seems as though the parents are playing a game of who is better than the other. I feel like a chess piece in the boardgame of ... Ramanujan was quite lucky to have a number of people working round him with training in mathematics. In fact the Chief Accountant for the Madras Port Trust, S N Aiyar, was trained as a mathematician and published a paper On the distribution of primes in 1913 on Ramanujan s work. The professor of civil engineering at the Madras Engineering College, T. He wrote to Hill on 12 November 1912 sending some of Ramanujan s work and a copy of his 1911 paper on Bernoulli numbers. Hill replied in a fairly encouraging way but showed that he had failed to understand Ramanujan s results on divergent series. The recommendation to Ramanujan that he read Bromwich s Theory of infinite series did not please Ramanujan much. Ramanujan wrote to E. W. Hobson and H. F. Baker trying to interest them in his results but neither replied. In January 1913 Ramanujan wrote to G H Hardy having seen a copy of his 1910 book Orders of infinity. In Abigail Graham s article, The Power of Boarding Schools, a History of Education professor at Indiana University writes that boarding schools is a tool used to reinforce one s ideas into individuals. Graham writes, Boarding schools...significantly impact the social development of their students; for this reason...schools used [this] as tools for reinforcing power relationships and cultural identities. America s goal was to eliminate any existence of the Native s culture by constantly embedding the values of being an American and being Christian inside the school. The boarding school is completely new to the Natives, and having someone tell them what to do was something unheard of. Within a school s system the students have the least authority, the teacher is second in line, and the principal is the highest. The students were of Native American descent, of course the teachers were white, and this demonstrates the power relationship with the Native Americans and the Whites; the whites had more power than the other race. Children were targets because if America were able to change the younger generation s ideals, than as they get older their offsprings will be what America envisioned, a non Native American who has no knowing of their culture. Sociology is the study of, the behaviour of people within society. It helps us to understand how society works and how the impact of relationships and interactions between people influence society. Sociology is shown through relationships, cultures, class, religion, education and upbringing. Sociology has different sociological perspectives for example symbolic interactionism and functionalism. Symbolic interactionism studies individuals and small groups within society and how they behave, interact and believe about how society is what it is. Symbolic Interactionism was created by Herbert Blumer. He based symbolic interactionism on three things which were that people act on the meanings of things, social interactions build meanings and meanings depend and are modified by people interacting with each other. Through communication and language, symbols are provided to understand the world that we live in. Smoking is an example of symbolic interactionism as teenagers believe it is cool to smoke, even though it Is bad for you and could lead to killing you but they think it makes them look good in front of their friends. These words from the Greek philosopher Plato summarize the most fundamental concern of the delegates to the Constitutional Convention when they considered what the best way to conduct presidential elections would be. While, in concept, democracy sounds like the fairest form of government, in practice, it is less than ideal. Fear of tyranny of the majority prompted discussion over how the president should be elected. The Founders chose the Electoral College which incorporates democracy, federalism, and republicanism for presidential selection, because it provided for the best balance of power. While he agreed that the sense of the people should operate in the choice of the [president], he made clear the importance of afford[ing] as little opportunity as possible to tumult and disorder. This would require the will of the people to be tempered by an intermediate body of electors. Not only would this be a compromise between the competing ideas in the Constitutional Convention, it would prevent any one group from having undue discretion when it came to electing the most powerful person in government. Of these competing ideas, two are prominently reflected in the Electoral College. The first is democracy, an idea largely advanced by Alexis de Tocqueville in Democracy in America. Democracy, loosely defined as the direct representation of people in government, seems the most logical way to conduct an election. The second is federalism. Understanding how this could become problematic, the founders decided to include states in the election process. According to Federalist 68, this would allow the people of each State [to] choose a number of persons as electors...who shall assemble...and vote for some fit person as President. This balance of individual and state discretion would soon be codified in Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution. The Electoral College has remained steadfast in our ever changing world. What ... • 27. Analysis Of The Story The Story Of An Hour By Kate Chopin Death is the wish of some, relief of many, and the end of all. Death, which is often seen as a great evil, can sometimes be seen as something for the greater good of someone. To many, death is a liberator and a comforter. It is a journey we ll all have to embark, sooner or later. Death can be the beginning of the end to many people, an event which can bring everlasting happiness, but also a shattering sadness. The short story The Story of an Hour, by Kate Chopin, which was published in 1894, presents a not so common viewpoint of death. One could say that this story has brought about a brief renewing love for life with one of the main characters. On the other hand, The Moths by Helena Maria Viramontes shows a painful reaction to death, that is quite relatable to what one may usually experience. The death in The Moths can be looked at as a moment of grief in pain, but also a moment for maturity and rebirth. Moreover, The Story of an Hour depicts death as a problem solver and something that can bring unimaginable amounts of freedom. Death can be looked at as perhaps a sort of liberation that can bring about a renewal for life. In other aspects, death can be viewed as a moment of grief and pain. Lastly, death may work as a spark which brings another loved one back into your life. Renewing love for life and freedom are two things that many suddenly feel once they ve finished grieving from the loss of a loved one. As seen in Chopin s The Story of an Hour the main ... The ECHS students who enrolled in other universities may have successfully completed the ECHS model in their respective institutions, but were not considered in the study. The low number of ECHS graduates (n=125) can be attributed to different factors; such as financial aid and data dates. For example, if a student does not meet the academic standards in one of the semesters, the student may not qualify for financial aid the following year. Many ECHS students rely on financial aid, due to their low income status. A lack of financial aid could force these students to take out a loan, get a job, and take fewer classes (putting them behind). Bio power also focuses on these different systems of oppression to manipulate and/or discipline docile bodies in order to occupy the same status and space in society. The Virtual Speculum in the New Order by Donna J. Haraway and the Right of Death and Power over Life by Michel Foucault are two good articles where the concept of bio power has been explored in two different areas. Haraway focuses on women s choices when it comes to health and technology. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A perfect example is the Maquilapolis documentary, which reveals the exploitation of Mexican women. They continued to be treated as objects in industries, essentially forced into labour with the purpose of making more money. The idea discipline was best captured in the moment where all of the women mimicked the different movements that they have to do during their work day how they were observed by others who would complete the job was the most telling. Even though all of these women were making their voices heard, their bodies were still being disciplined to work for these companies. The main reason these women stay is because they are single mothers that sadly do not have other job opportunities. They have a lower economic status due to their class and cannot leave. Although they receive some benefit is it minimal it keeps them in the industry. It s a cycle that really only benefits the different capitalist industries. In order to discipline these bodies, specific knowledge is produced for the purpose of controlling their choices to profit from their work. As it was showed in the documentary, women are being lied to by these companies that promise them a secure and safe environment to work in. The documentary is not dated, but it is clear that these issues are happening in many countries where bodies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Massachusetts Bay Colony, like many other towns in New England banished individuals for such offenses as criticizing the church or government (Foner 71). Before shooting on the range, kids should be safely taught how to dry fire (if possible), and learn how to safely handle guns. Unsafe gun handling should never be permitted. Many plants produce chemicals that may be harmful or beneficial to other plants. In some cases a species can produce chemicals that can prevent the growth or germination of another species. An example of this is Australian native plants such as Casuarinas and Eucalypts which produce allelochemicals that prevent competition of other plants. • 45. Research Paper On Frederic Chopin When deciding on a composer from the romantic period to research, I realized that I didn t have much insight or knowledge on the topic. I chose Frederic Chopin using completely superficial reasoning: He is of Polish descent and so am I. I also found that most of his works were solo piano pieces, and that really appealed to me for some reason. Chopin was born Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin in the small town of Zelazowa Wola, just outside of Warsaw, Poland on March 1st, 1810. His father was a French native who immigrated to Poland in 1787, and joined the Polish National Guard, severing his ties with his former homeland. These are just my own thoughts and opinion on that subject. * Living in Paris, Chopin was in the elite artistic social circles of the time. It is in those circles that he met an outgoing, author who penned under the name George Sand. George was actually a woman named Amandine Aurore Lucille Dupin Dudevant who was a major figure in Parisian culture. Artistically, they were on the same level. Personally, they were polar opposites. This might have been what the attraction was that they had for one another. Chopin was quiet and reserved, while Sand was a cigar smoking woman who often dressed in men s clothing. (V. The show permits people who have never read the Archie comic books to enjoy it, but it still has elements from the comic books that people will enjoy too. Henry Jenkin s in his blogpost Transmedia Storytelling 101 states, Transmedia storytelling practices may expand the potential market for a property by creating different points of entry for different audience segments (Jenkins). As seen in the case of Riverdale, the market surrounding the Archie comic books is expanding from the comic books to a television series based on the comic books. Riverdale appeals to a teen and young adult demographic and this allows for people who may not have grown up with the Archie comics to become familiar with the characters. It also provides a darker series of events than what was portrayed in the Archie comics which may appeal to a different audience than the comics. Additionally, viewers of the television series who have never read the comic books may start reading them because of their interest in the television show.
