Similarities Between Shintoism And Buddhism
In Japan, there are many different religions, some may not be as significant as others, but they are
existing there. Some of these religions include Shintoism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Christianity,
etc.. but I have narrowed it down to the two most prominent religions in the nation of Japan:
Shintoism and Buddhism. In this research paper, I am going to describe these two religions more in
depth, such as the beliefs, the differences, the similarities, how these religions act toward another
(Contradict or compliment each other) and I will even show you how these religions has changed
Japan in the last 50 years.
One of the major religions that have existed in Japan is Shintoism, this religion pretty much as old
as Japan itself. Shintoism was started in Japan, the beliefs in Shintoism include focusing on ritual
practices that are carried out diligently to establish a connection between present day Japan and its
past. Shintoists believe in Kami, or gods, examples of Kami include but are not limited to
Amaterasu, goddess of the sun, Fujin, god of the wind, among the oldest of Shinto gods, Hachiman,

Shintoism and Buddhism are the same because they both had left a large unforgettable mark in the
history of Japan. Another similarity is that both of these religions originated in the same continent.
Two differences between Shintoism and Buddhism are that Shintoism is all about the human spirit
/soul, and buddhism is more concerned with the body and mind. Another difference is that
Shintoists believe in many kami, or gods, while in contrast, buddhists believe in certain deities. In
conclusion, as you can see, these two religions seem like they can compliment each other, right?
Well they can, and they do, even though their origins are different from each other, it is possible to
incorporate both of these religions into

Essay about Operation of National Security Agency (NSA)
This article in particular involved several large companies and government agencies that deal with
vast amounts of peoples private information such as buying habits and personal online activity.
Some of the companies involved in this dispute include social media giants like and Twitter,
LinkedIn, and Facebook as well as other huge internet corporations such as Microsoft, Yahoo,
AOL, Apple, and Google. On the federal side of this fiasco includes government organizations like
the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The

Who Is Gregor Samsa s Existential Crisis In The Metamorphosis
At one point in life, we all begin to question the meaning of our existence. Gregor Samsa
experiences an existential crisis in the story The Metamorphosis. Gregor undergoes an
existential crisis as he believes since he transformed into a pest, he can t provide for his family
anymore, Gregor tries to adapt to his new lifestyle, but ultimately can t. The primary outcome of
Gregor questioning his existence leads to him deciding to kill himself and his family deciding
to move on and look for a husband for Grete. Gregor s existential crisis begins when he starts to
think that his life is worthless as a bug. According to Kafka, At the time Gregor s only concern
had been to devote everything he had to allow his family to forget as quickly as possible the
business misfortune which had brought them all into a state of complete hopelessness. And so at
that point he d started to work with a special intensity and from an assistant had become, almost
overnight, a traveling salesman, who naturally had entirely different possibilities for earning money
and whose successes at work at once were converted into the form of cash... Show more content on

Life for Gregor was tough enough as is, and it never got better. Throughout the story, Gregor
attempts to become accustomed to his new life as a bug. While he tried his hardest to adjust to
his unique situation, he ended up becoming a different being. Grete even said, But how can it be
Gregor? If it were Gregor, he would have long ago realized that a communal life among human
beings is not possible with such an animal and would have gone away voluntarily (Kafka 86). In
the end, Gregor s existential crisis occurred because he could no longer provide for his family and
never adjust to his new life as a bug. This existential crisis has led to multiple outcomes for Gregor

The Little Mermaid: Teaching Young Girls to Be True to Themselves I m sixteen years old, I m
not a child anymore, Ariel says in one of the scenes of the 1989 Disney hit film The Little
Mermaid. Attempt saying that to you parents! With this quote Ariel basically says to parents that
being sixteen makes young girls an adult, able to disobey them and find love in a man. However,
for all young girls the little mermaidis best known as Ariel, a beautiful, red haired mermaidwho is in
love and willing to do anything to be accepted and loved by others. The Little Mermaid has
portrayed significant feminine roles that young girls view and believe to be truthful. As soon as the

Advantages Of Bachelor Degree Vs Associate Degree
Are rising tuition costs reason enough for more people to choose Associate Degrees over
Bachelor Degrees? One of the most socially accepted path ways for students coming out of high
school is going to a four year college and earning a Bachelor Degree. Many, especially if attending a
college prep school like Punahou, view community collegeand the Associate Degree as a
downgrade or a waste of education and money. But truly an Associate Degree is just a stepping
stone for high school graduate s especially if they are undecided on a profession to go into.
When you truly look at the cost benefit analysis of the Associate Degree versus a Bachelor
Degree the results challenge the common expectation of a high school grad. An Associate
Degree should be used as a stepping stone on a student s way to getting a Bachelor and possibly
even a Master Degree in their study of choice. An Associate degree also is much more cost and
time effective. To top it all off earning an Associate Degree you have the ability to make more
money directly out of college than a student who earns a Bachelor Degree. One major reason
why people may start to choosing Associate Degrees is that an Associate can be used as a cheap
stepping stone on one s way to getting their Bachelor Degree or even Master s Degree. Many
people who can t go straight to a four year college, like Omer, start with an Associate degree to
get there starting credits. This way Omer can get a job and have some stability when they go to
try to apply for a bachelor program. An Associate Degree can help a student earn credits needed
to earn a Bachelor Degree. Many four year colleges allow transfer students from community
colleges to use their credits to put forth to earn a Bachelor Degree in some persons preferred
subject. A large advantage of an associate degree is that recipients are more likely to have taken
a structured set of courses leading to a degree in a program of study, and thus may have had an
easier time transferring their credits. This way earning an Associate degree does not put people
behind in their pursuit of a better degree. When looking at the opportunity cost of a two year
Associate degree and a four year Bachelor degree it begins to make more sense to

Location is where exactly something is on a map. Europe is located in western Eurasia and is
surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Eurasia is an area of land that

Place is a general area. A place can be described by the geographical markers around it and the
things that make it unique. (A city could be built over the same area that a previous city was built

Human Environment Interaction is how humans are involved with the land around them and how
their actions affect others. If farmers used up all the minerals in one field, they would use a

Cushing s Disease In Dogs
When a dog has too much Cortisol in their body (usually in their adrenal glands), it can result in
them getting Cushing s disease. It is the most common hormone related disease in dogs. There are
other causes of this disease in dogs like taking medicine with Cortisol in it for a long period of
time or having a tumor in the adrenal gland. However, the main cause of this disease in dogs is
their bodies producing too much Cortisol.
Most of the dogs that get Cushing s disease are over eight years old. The dog breeds that are more
likely to get this disease are Boxers, Dachshunds, Poodles, and Terriers. It is also more prevalent in
female dogs.

Canine Life Expectancy With Cushing s Disease

in the adrenal gland, the life expectancy of canines with Cushings Disease is usually about three
years. If the dog has a pituitary gland issue, then they can be expected to live about two years. The
younger a dog is when their Cushing disease is diagnosed, the better their canine Cushing disease
life expectancy will be.
Other health problems, like diabetes and infections, can reduce the life expectancy of canines
with Cushings Disease. Other health problems like tumors that spread from the pituitary gland
into the brain or blood clots in the lungs can also appear not long after a dog starts treatment for
this disease. When health problems like these arise, the owner of the dog must decide whether it is

Negative effects on the health care profession
Physicians privacy concerns
Data mining companies and pharmaceutical manufacturers are able easily access information
about physicians prescribing behaviors. For instance, IMS Health, an American healthcare IT

physicians prescribe. Data collected over time can reveal a physician s prescribing history, his or
her preference for brand name drugs, and the probability of prescribing new drugs. The data can
help pharmaceutical companies identify which physicians prescribe their companies drugs and can

Business Skills For A Business
Business skills
Business skills are skills which are needed by candidates for a business to recruit them. I have
some business skills and they are communication skills, confidence, leadership, I am organised
and I can prioritise tasks appropriately. I have extensive experience in delivering presentations to
large groups. This has enhanced my skills such as confidence, clarity and self belief. One of the
presentations that I delivered included designing a new product for coca cola. The goal was to
provide a drink that was healthy as well as attractive to customers. This task provided me with the
opportunity to gain new skills such as research and teamwork. Further to this, I was also able to
recognise a few weaknesses that I was able to improve through teamwork and effective
communication such as differences of opinion and disagreements.
I am very well organised as I always arrive to school on time, with the required books and
equipment. This shows my punctuality and my desire to progress. My school attendance is 100%
as I have not missed a single day of school. I also have a lot of leadership skills because I have been
appointed to be group leader in many situations. For example, when I had to create a podcast for
cyber bullying with my team, I had to show leadership and organise my team by setting them
different tasks and giving them deadlines according to each individuals skill set. This shows that I
can be responsible and cope under pressure.

Case Study Of A Rabid Dog
Case study of a rabid dog: vaccine failure and owner s ignorance
Summary: Rabies is a severe but preventable anthropozoonosis of developing countries. Wandering
and unvaccinated dogs are the primary source of rabies particularly, in low income countries. The
purpose of this presentation is to highlight the public health risks for pet owners. Despite pre
exposure vaccination, rabies virus was diagnosed in dog brain using histopathology and
immunohistochemistry. Negligence in prophylactic measures and dog bite management constitutes
the main cause of rabies cases, largely in populated cities of Pakistan. Another contributing factor is
the lack of knowledge, regarding rabies prophylaxis, among both non professionals and medical
practitioners.

These problems can be overcome through quick availability of reliable prophylactic measures,
team up regulation of veterinary drug stores and, adequate field serosurviellance (Townsend et al.,
2013). The lack of dog bite management is purely associated with the large communication gap
between general public and veterinarians, which ultimately results in the lack of general awareness
about rabies prophylactic measures in rural and urban communities (Franka et al., 2012). These
issues can be well solved through public private partnerships (Taylor, 2013) canine herd
vaccinations and raising literacy rate in general (Franka et al., 2012). Keeping in context, poor
attitude and response of the health practitioners is also participating indirectly in rabies cases

Essay Correctional Theory
INTRODUCTION Rehabilitation is firmly entrenched in the history of corrections in the United
States. Penitentiaries, for example were formed in 1820 with the belief that offenders could be
morally reformed (Cullen, Jonson, 2012, pp. 27 28). In 1870). The National Congress on
Penitentiary and Reformatory Discipline documented the merits of rehabilitation (Wines, 1871, p.
457). However, by the end of the 1960s, the United States had experienced several years of
discontent within its prisonsystems which resulted in a national call for prison reform and the
development of a disillusionment with rehabilitation (Martinson, 1974, p. 22). In 1966, Robert
Martinson was hired to evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation, the result of which... Show more

By utilizing correctional policies and practices that are not built upon evidence based theories, we
risk not only imposing ineffective treatments on offenders, we risk increasing an offender s
criminality (p. 3). This is especially disconcerting when one considers the potential harm to which
we are exposing society upon the offender s release (Latessa, Cullen, Gendreau, 2002, p. 44).
Evidence based corrections would implement rehabilitation policies, as research shows it to be the
greatest opportunity to significantly impact crime as it addresses what is known to both cause and
reduce criminality (Cullen, Jonson, 2012, p. 11). Inherent in the ideals of effective rehabilitation
are the identification of criminogenic risk factors (i.e., correlates of criminality) such as aggression,
and the establishment of individualized evidence based treatments which address them (p. 30). In
other words, offenders offend for different reasons and until we target those reasons with
empirically sound treatments and interventions, we cannot hope for successful rehabilitation. Worse
yet, by utilizing one size fits all treatments, we risk exposing them to criminogenic risk factors,
further exacerbating their criminal propensities (p. 12). Ultimately, the importance of evidence
based corrections cannot be overstated for it is through careful evaluation of empirically sound
data that we learn how to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the correctional system as
well as the

Response To The Sansburg
Throughout this poem, the Sanburg intentionally uses the concrete and proper nouns to represent
the death that occurs over time in a war zone. These concrete nouns represent the extreme
conditions that happen while at war. The use of the word bodies (1) starts off the poem on a
somber note, by simply representing the amount of people that have passed. Furthermore, the
concrete nouns represent how some of these battles dragged on through the use and repeat of the
word, years. (7) The catastrophic effects of war on the landscape is exemplified by the
passengers asking, What place is this? (8) The people that come back to these war stricken areas

Responsibility For The Tragedy Of Romeo And Juliet
A pair of star crossed lovers take their lives. (Prologue, 7) In this tragedy two families, Montague

Juliet Capulet, fall in love. They marry in secret and the marriage causes many problems, including
a conflict between Romeo and Tybalt, Juliet s cousin. This tragedy is a play resulting in death for
many. Romeo and Juliet are to blame for this tragedy but Tybalt is most responsible. The main
reason why Romeo has partial responsibility for the tragedy is because he was very impulsive.

Tybalt knew he wanted to get revenge on Romeo later. He later got the revenge. Tybalt killed

The Purpose Of The Fourteenth Amendment
The purpose that brought the Fourteenth Amendment into being was equality before the law, and
equality, not separation, was written into the law. A state and its capabilities all come from within
itself; therefore, what brings a nation forth is its ability to unite for a cause and to consistently
keep the members of its nation steadfast in its belief. The Fourteenth Amendment was ratified not
only to guarantee equal protection of the laws , but to also guarantee a more prosperous country
in which its members are not distinguished based on gender, race, culture, ethnicity or religion.
Consequently, every citizen is given a set of rights and the people are reassured that these rights

Krispy Kreme s investors enjoyed a quick return on their investment after the IPO. By the end of
2000 the stock price had doubled, then shot to a high of 4.5x the IPO price by mid 2001. Krispy

The Struggle In Mary E. Wilkins Freeman s A New England Nun
A woman is like a tea bag; you never know how strong it is until it is in hot water. The imagery
created by Eleanor Roosevelt emphasizes the emotional strength of a woman, which may often be
overshadowed by her physical inferiority, as compared to her male counterpart. The hot water is a
representation of the hostile or conflicting situation that women encounter on a daily basis. This
would come in the form of emotional obstacles and mental tribulations, as they have to oppose
many of society s wishes before they can achieve their dreams. Although women may appear fragile,
docile, and porous to the desires of men, their course of action as they overcome their adversity
would prove their character to be strong, willful, and self reliant. Authors Mary E. Wilkins Freeman,
in The England Nun, and Nella Larsen, in Sanctuary, portray protagonists that exhibit characteristics
of strong will and independence that resist the social confinements of their time. In both cases, the
protagonists have to overcome the obstacle that is classified as an internal conflict; therefore, their
ultimate decision presents their strong mental... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Wilhelm Negligence Case
In this introduction of the case, we see that there was a question on the floor being asked about
if Wilhelm acted negligently by failing to remind Flores of the dangers of working with
beehives. I read this case twice and speculated on if Mr. Curtis Wilhelm acted negligently in
failing to warn Flores of the dangers of functioning with beehives because John Black provided
Santos with a protective suit to have as you re picking them up. So, after realizing Wilhelm nor his
compliance that was John Black, didn t mention how difficult it is to operate beehives, he did act
negligent in failing to communicate with Santos on the dangers of working with beehives. The core

Accounting Information System Essay
Introduction The application of Accounting Information Systems has become widespread among
enterprises in Australia due to improved affordability and efficiency resulting from their technical
power. The vendors have moved from desktop systems to cloud accounting, and it has led to a
challenge of selection and implementation to customers and users. This paper offers a synthesis of
literature on AIS in Australia, its history, development, and adoption, analysis of the current market
size and how the leaders in the market have managed to carve out their competitive advantage.
There are also gaps in the sector, in particular for customers. Hence the paper also provides
recommendations.
History
At the beginning of computerization, accounting software was automated and mainly included
modules such as accounts receivable, payroll, accounts payable and the general ledger. McMickle
(1989) provides that accountants were the only professionals who first used IT related systems.
Late in the 1970s, increase technical accounting issues led to the use of technical assistants who
developed and maintained AIS for organizations resulting in the emergence of the system
information sector within accounting. In the 1990s, resources events agents (REA) were initiated
and with database technology advancement, new accounting models emerged (Walker and Denna,
1997). AIS could capture data which sometimes was not financial related accounting hence REA
led to applications for detailed business

Dealing With Breakups
Breakups are something that people go through all the time. It is something that can be painful and
difficult to go through. This is why it is important to know how to deal with the problem as
opposed to reacting to the breakup in a way that makes the process even harder to go through.
However, when you re mourning from a broken relationship, you need to make sure that you avoid
a couple things that totally go against the entire breakup etiquette rules.
Mistake #1 Pretend You Are Fine
After a breakup, don t act like you are fine. Give yourself time to mourn, or punch a pillow, cry,
write in your journal and tell your friends exactly how you feel. The temptations might be to just
pretend that you are totally unaffected regarding the breakup, ... Show more content on

When you do this, not only will you be disconnected from your ex, but it will make your entire
physical appearance from the public quite negative. You need to fully distance yourself from your
ex and everyone who knows him or her, so dating their friends shouldn t be an option.
Mistake #9 Starting Useless And Meaningless Relationships
Randomly dating people and sleeping with them may temporarily heal your wounds, but it
definitely won t help you fully cope. If you want to start a relationship, it must be when you are
completely over your ex, because if not, you will just be hurting yourself and the person or the
people you decide to be with.
Mistake #10 Seek Revenge
Don t try to break down your ex s car, or teepee their house. Never do something that can cause
you legal trouble and a restraining order. If you are hurting, deal with it through venting out on
your friends and not on your ex. The temptation of revenge won t feed anything but your bitterness.
You might have been betrayed, but revenge won t heal your wounds. Move on, it really is the best

Destruction of the American Dream in Death of a Salesman...
We may have different backgrounds, but we believe in the same dream that says this is a country
where anything s possible. No matter who you are. No matter where you come from. President
Obama, Commenting on the American Dream
The American Dream is a set of ideals in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and
success. It is the belief that, no matter how poor you begin life, you can achieve upward social
mobility for your family and children. Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman, crushes the ethos of the
American Dream. Miller s ability to portray this delusional idea through the life and relationships
of Willy Loman, a typical, low income American, is exquisite. America, in 1949, was experiencing

perfect quotes form Willy that show his insecurities, and that he is not the successful
businessman he claims he is. Miller uses Willy to show that although the American dream is still
alive, there are those who just do not make it. Willy will not face the truth though. Willy is a
failure in life, but he feels even more so because of the fact that success in the American Dream
is supposed to be available to anyone. This figure has significantly affected his family, especially
his sons. He consistently blames the world throughout the play, such as blaming the teacher for
flunking Biff, and causing his failure at getting a good paying job. He also goes on to blame
Chevrolet for the carburetor tearing up, Bernard for not letting Biff cheat, and eventually realizes it
was his entire fault all along. Once he realizes this, instead of facing the truth about his failure, he
commits suicide.
Many would say that this heart breaking story of Willy s life epitomizes moral law . Moral law
is the indestructible will of man to achieve his humanity (Tragedy and the Common Man).
Basically, it s man drive to save his pride, or gain sort of power. There is no better example of a
man struggling with moral law than Willy Loman. He not only struggles with the other characters,
but with himself. His inner conflict is exaggerated in his multiple flashbacks.

earn the power. Lady Macbethchanges his idea of masculinity when she keeps telling Macbeth
what kind of man he has to be, and she accuses Macbeth of not adhering to the typical male

just in general hating things. All three of these pretty much sum up how I feel when working out.

How Rich In America Is A Rich Country
Throughout the world, many countries have found a way or a (niche) to which they (the country)
can profit from global trade (import and export). This particular niche could be a multitude of
things such as manufacturing (machining metals or developing electrical components) or
agriculture (raising animals or growing plants) or raw minerals (metal ore or oil). Some countries
are capable of doing almost all things listed above, but not all countries are capable of this. Which
leads to my point, that some countries are setup better, whether it be land, technology, or the raw
materials which lead to a thriving economy. Another variable for which the countries well being can
be affected is how that country s government is setup (republic democracy, communism, etc). Many
will say that the United Statesis a rich country; however, I would have to completely disagree. For
example, the national... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Back to the main point, I believe, that a richer country if capable would suppress another to
stand atop the global pyramid. One could compare the similarities of being rich as an individual
to that of a country. For example, if a person has large amount of money, he or she can invest or
create a company and make even more money. Basically, it takes money to make money. A poor
man or woman cannot become rich without money. For instance, if a poor person has enough
money to buy a powerball ticket and in turn wins, it proves that it took money regardless of the
amount to acquire more money. The last factor for a country to advance would be an education
system, if the country lacks a proper education system, then the people would lack the potential to
make the country better. I find it tough to assert that a rich country makes a poor country poor, but
I find it easier to state that a poor country is poor because it lacks certain variables which would

The Birth Of A Baby With Genetic Defects
Science has evolved rapidly, from paternal test, to vitro fertilization (IVF) and testing embryos
for genetic defects; and recently talks of designer babies. The first genetically tested embryo
was in the US in 2000 . With his birth, came a law in the UK, (which was where this baby was
born) prohibiting the creation of more of these babies. This law was created since the British
Medical Association, Dr Vivienne Nathanson, said that these babies would feel as medical
products . This law still remains today, but the UK has allowed the creation of babies with DNA
from two women and one man (Gallagher), to prevent the birth of a baby with mitochondrial

Why is this? Why is it alright to wish for our child to look a certain way, but when presented with
the technology to choice how a child will look like, it is seen as morally wrong? Improvement or
enhancements made for health related issues are seen as acceptable but non health related
modifications are not acceptable.
To understand what a designer baby is, genetics also has to be understood. Generics is the study of
heredity, discovered by Gregor Mendel (also known as the father of genetics) and his pea plants
experiment. In Mendel s experiment he described the unit of heredity as a particle that does not
change and is passed on to offsprings (Mandal). This means that a living being gets half of their
genes from one parent and the other half from the second parent. These genes are what get
modified in designer babies. The term designer babies is the media s name for eugenics.
Eugenicists believe that it is in our society s best interest to encourage families with good genes
to reproduce, and to condemn the unfit families. These genetically modified children are
considered as the new eugenics ; today s version is positive : it allows for the creation of more
desirable babies (Tuhus Dubrow, 40), also the original version deprived people of their rights and
liberties.
The process used to modify genes is called CRISPR/Cas9. It was discovered in china in 2013;

Abuse is something that has been happening for a while now and seems to be a recurring problem.
People are not aware of this problem because they do not step up and speak up for themselves. In

are many different kinds of abuse, but these are the most common.
Domestic abuse is something that happens to a lot of people, and is very common. As stated by
the department of justice every 9 seconds a woman is beaten, every 20 minutes people are

The Relationship Between Discipline and Obidience from...
Montessori Philosophy
Question: Explain the relationship between discipline and obedience from the Montessori
perspective. Explain how discipline and obedience are linked to the development of the will.
Maria Montessori (1988) believed that the discipline of a child is something to come, not something
that is already present. It means discipline must be stimulated, observed and let it grow by itself.
How to start stimulating or awakening discipline inside a child? Montessori says, В… an
individual is disciplined when he is the master of himself and when he can, as a consequence,
control himself when he must follow a rule of life (Montessori, 1997, p. 51).

realize or note should he/she make any mistake. By being able to do so, subsequently for the next
opportunity he/she will make sure that he/she should not do the same error again, which means he
/she could correct the error by himself/herself.
Obedience could be attained only when a child has fully developed and controlled his/her will,
and he/she freely chooses to follow other s instruction or orders. This could happen because the
child recognizes that the person who gives the order loves him/her and is more knowledgeable
than him/her, also this child is sure that the order given will be useful to perfect his/her skill.
Having explained the discipline and obedience, now we could conclude that these two features
will only be developed in a child if he/she is already able to control the inner power from within.
This is whether to do something based on his/her likes, or to do something just because the child
has already understood that he/she has to follow orders from others, because there are common
norms that a child have to obey should he/she want to live with other people collectively. In case a

United for One
In the book, Outcasts United, by St. John, my favorite chapter is actually the first one. Chapter
one is all about Luma, the soccer coach of the refugees. The reason chapter one is my favorite is
because she reminds me a lot of myself. Luma wants to part from her parents and stay in the
United States of America. Her choice came with the consequences of her parents and sister not
communicating with her again if she chooses to stay in the US. Her grandma would still
communicate about the family until she passes away in a later chapter. Another example of
why this is my favorite is because I can relate to tons of it. My dad no longer talks to me due to
me moving out at too young of an age. I moved to the city to be closer to work and school but in
his eyes I was sinning. This is also why I think I relate most to Luma. There are other reasons why
I think that I relate to Luma. Throughout the whole book, Luma never wants to give up. For
example in chapter nine, Get Lost , when Luma knows she has to find a new field for her fugeesto
play on. According to St John, on page 93, the YMCA calls and lets Luma know they found a
field for her. She never gave up on her high hopes. Luma always wanted the best for her players.
I am just like Luma, as I never give up on things. My number one struggle I never give up on is
my exercise. Luma has a great strength in her hopes. She honestly doesn t care about anyone s
negative opinions. It is crazy how much I think I relate to Luma. Just

The Nottingham Pulse Rig Towards Determining The Mechanism...
This Chapter discusses the progress made using the Nottingham Pulse Rig towards determining
the mechanism of the Fischer Tropsch reaction. A summary of the three main mechanisms
proposed in the literature was outlined in Chapter 1 but is still the subject of much debate.1 6
Generally the carbide mechanism is accepted for Fe catalysts,7 but the mechanism over Co
catalysts is less clear.1 Ge and Neurock,8 as well as Ojeda et al.,4 have suggested that the carbide
mechanism is the pathway for FT synthesis on Co catalysts. However, they disagree over the
route to CO dissociation; direct dissociation of the carbonyl bond has been proposed by Ge and

3.1.1 On the Mechanism and Active Site of the FT Process Over Co Catalysts Several studies
have investigated the effect of syngas on the structure of metallic Co catalysts.9 12 For instance,
Karaca et al. investigated the effect of syngas on a CoPt/Al2O3 catalyst using X Ray Diffraction
(XRD).9 After reducing the catalyst in H2 at 623 K, XRD peaks were observed for face centred
cubic (fcc) and hexagonal close packed (hcp) structures of metallic Co. After exposure to 20 bar
of syngas at 493 K, the fcc XRD peaks became narrower over 5 hrs, which was suggested to be
due to an increase in the particle size due to sintering of the Co metal phase. Over the subsequent
5 hrs this peak decreased in intensity and a new peak assigned to a carbide phase grew in.
Therefore, the authors concluded that deactivation of the catalyst was due initially to sintering
and then, over longer periods of time, to carbidisation. Wilson and de Groot have investigated
the surface reorganisation of a model Co catalyst upon exposure to 4 bar of a H2/CO mixture
(2:1 ratio) at 523 K.10 11 The surface was examined ex situ in an Ultra High Vacuum (UHV)
chamber before and after exposure to syngas using a Scanning Tunnelling Microscope (STM).
Before exposure to CO the surface consisted of flat terraces, with a Co(0001) structure. The terrace

ЂЁDue Date: April 14, 2016
Instructions: Please answer all questions
Question 1
Define the following terms used in food and agribusiness value chains. Give specific examples in
your answers
a.Agrifood value chains
A value chain is the range of activities required to bring a raw product to market. It is in a vertical
sequence and is often described as pond to plate, plough to plate, or farm to fork in an agri
business value chain. (Sturgeon, 2001)
b.Value creation
Value is created as goods move along the chain; at each stop value must be added for the consumer
to be willing to pay the price. Value can include packaging, cleaning labeling but also through
auctioneers and wholesalers. (Sturgeon, 2001)
c.Value chain market orientation
Market orientation refers to how the end market receives the value added product. To be successful
a value chain must be receptive to the demands of the market orientation. This can be monitored
through customer feedback processes. (Sturgeon, 2001)
Question 2
Distinguish clearly following key concepts applied in food and agribusiness value chains?
a.Form utility, Time utility and Place utility
*Form utility refers to the processing of a good; this can include actions such as transforming milk
into ice cream.
*Place utility is the transportation of a good, for example milk is produced on farms through out

The Code Of Life And The Human Genome
As was said in the beginning of the video, the ultimate achievement that one can make
scientifically is to look at our own human genome, or instruction book if you will, and try to figure
out what it is telling us, what it reads. This began happening in the late 1990s, to 2000s, when
people began diving deeper into what DNAreally tells us. In a sense, we have found the key to
unlock, or crack, the code of life, and this is also the key to diagnosing and curing genetically
transmitted diseases. This key is what the Human Genome Projectsearched to find, and what
Cracking the Code of Life is all about. A single message, which we call DNA, has been passed
down from the very first microscopic organism all the way to us today. It travels in a continuous
thread that flows through all living things, and is the secret of all life. This message within all
of us is made up of four nitrogen bases, Guanine (G), Thymine (T), Cytosine (C), and Adenine
(A), which are connected in a double helix, which looks like a twisted ladder. These bases come
in pairs, as G connects with C, and A with T, and the order of these base pairs is what creates the
variance we see in every organism today. There are approximately 3 billion base pairs in the human
genome, but only about 30,000 are actually our genes. However, one wrong letter out of 3 billion
can cause extreme various in humans To put this into perspective, every human body is 99.9%

If Darby Company drops the shipping limitations and allows any distribution center to supply to

objective function, the distribution plan without restrictions reduces the cost of shipping to

its meters at its more cost efficient San Bernardino plant in fact, under this plan it produces at

Breaking Down Music
Breaking Down Music
Music tells a personal story in a way that communicates to people s emotions. Some songs are
upbeat and create excitement and others, as some would say it, touch the soul. Many variations of
music exist, it has been broken down into categories. A few categories of music include indie pop,
dark pop, and electronic dance music.
Indie pop music is known as the upbeat version of dark pop. This kind of music possesses a
carefree, bohemian feel. An artist that does a perfect interpretation of this music is Lana Del
Rey. Her music consist of mellow instruments that are joined by her warm, rich voice. Despite
the entrancing sound of Lana Del Rey s songs, her lyrics tell the real story. Based off her songs,
one could interpret that she struggles with insecurities and stereotypes. Zella Day is also an indie
pop artist. Her airy voice is easily distinguishable out of many artists. The instruments in her songs,
such as Sweet Ophelia , are much more intense than the ones heard in Lana Del Rey s songs. Zella
Day s lyrics describes the thoughts and feelings of today s teenagers. ... Show more content on

Dark pop is said to be depressing and goth like. Bishop Briggs and Melanie Martinez are a few of
many dark pop artists. Way I Do by Bishop Briggs is about her feelings that she can not express
to someone she cares deeply for. The song is filled with deep bass throughout along with a
brilliant, alto voice. Melanie Martinez s music supports the stereotype that dark pop is depressing.
From her songs, one can interpret that Melanie was subjected to bullying and emotional abuse. Her
song Training Wheels is about her experience with a guy who ultimately just ended up using her.
Throughout her songs one can distinguish a variety of bass and

Essay on Milton and the Natural World
Blessed Be the Time: Changes in the Natural World as a Result of the Fall
The differences between prelapsarian and postlapsarian life as it pertains to mankind must be stark.
The Fall would lose all meaning otherwise, were the consequences of the original sin to be slight.
Everything that Adam and Eve had experienced must change so that they could comprehend the
vastness of their transgression. This would include everything of a spiritual nature: their
relationship with God, the angels, their ability to get into Heaven. However, as a fallen human, the
reader might find the physical changes that Adam, Eve, and the world around them undergo as a
result of the Fall to be very compelling. As someone who has never and can never ... Show more

In his infancy in Eden, Adam is presented with all the animals which instinctively subjugate
themselves before him. Not only is he clearly meant by God to be superior the animals, he also
seems to have some deeper knowledge of their essence, shown by how he named them as they
passed and understood/Their nature: with such knowledge God endued/[His] sudden
apprehension. (VIII.352 354) Similar to how the fertile earth of Eden provided for Adam and
Eve all they wanted, the animals too were at Man s beck and call in the prelapsarian world. Just
as the earth seems to have turned against Man after the fall, so do the animals. The special
relationship Adam shared with the animal kingdom is dissolved, the animals ceased to stand
much in awe/Of Man but fled him or with count nance grim/Glared on him passing. (X.712 714)
Animals were now not only scared of Man but more importantly began to actively menace him,
whereas Man knew no physical menace in his prelapsarian state. This is because the concept of
death has been introduced to the postlapsarian world, starting with the lower animals. In addition to
threatening Man, animals began to see each other as predator and prey. This new predatory
relationship between animals also portends a predatory relationship between people, when Milton
compares those who eventually take over the Church to grevious Wolves (XII.508) who prey on the
faithful and subvert God s word. After eating the forbidden fruit, Man

Thomas Labyrinth
The tale of the labyrinth is exceptionally fascinating and dramatic. It incorporates a plot that catches
and the gathering of people to contemplate over the result. The hero is a kid named Thomas, who is
to a great degree inquisitive over the circumstance he is set in. In this motion picture, denoting the
start of the arrangement, the crowd is given that an organization sends young men to take an
interest in a labyrinth. The thought is to see the members and check whether any of them can
figure out how to get away. In any case, none of the young men could make sense of a method for

compacted with both uncertainty and negative contemplations. Notwithstanding, Thomas
demonstrates that he could survive one night in the maze. That is the defining moment in light of
the fact that the young men can witness the potential. The thought was that Thomas was
uncommon for his fortitude and interest. Likewise, the will to live outside the labyrinth. Be that as
it may, Thomas did not have more physical quality than alternate young men. The young men
started to think, on the off chance that he can, I can. Thomas was the living zone. The main
purpose behind them not getting away before Thomas was the absence of conviction, inside every
person. The labyrinth is essentially the obstruction that not giving them a chance to get away. In the
labyrinth there is something many refer to as the grevers, a grevers is an animal that lives in the

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) ADHD and its diagnosis and treatment have
been considered controversial since the 1970s. The controversies have involved clinicians,
teachers, policymakers, parents and the media. Opinions regarding ADHD range from not
believing it exists at all to believing there are genetic and physiological bases for the condition as
well as disagreement about the use of stimulant medications in treatment. Some sociologists
consider ADHD to be a classic example of the medicalization of deviant behavior, defining a
previously non medical problem as a medical one. Most healthcare providers in U.S. accept that
ADHD is a genuine disorder with debate in centering mainly around how it is diagnosed and...

With regard to genetic studies, research has demonstrated the fact that genetic influences are
involved. Family studies, molecular genetics, and twin studies have explained the familial
nature of ADHD. Regarding family studies, there is a high probability of a child being
diagnosed with the disorder if the siblings or parents are also affected. In addition, about 33.3%
of fathers who in their childhood had ADHD are likely to bear children who have the disorder.
This is an indication that among first degree relatives of affected parents or siblings, there is a 6
8X risk of an ADHD relative to the prevalence of ADHD in the general population. Further
evidence has been obtained from twin studies by comparing the rate of concordance between
monozygotic (MZ) and dizygotic (DZ) twins. All of the genes are shared in the case of MZ
twins whereas in DZ twins only 50% of segregating genes are shared on average. A study that
involved comparing the rate of concordance between the two types of twins revealed that among
MZ twins, the rate of concordance ranged between 58% and 82%. For the same sex in DZ twins,
the rate was 31% 38%. These results provided more evidence to the heritable nature of ADHD.
However, the fact that the rate of concordance in MZ twins was less than 100% in all the studies
conducted implies the involvement of environmental components in the aetiology of ADHD.
Several environmental factors

Interpreters of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri is a short story that focuses on a far from average

My group consisted of me my, my friend, and my roommate. We were able to balance
personalities fairly well. This may be due to the fact of having arguments about various topics

bringing them before the group. Each group was giving all the time they needed to prepare there

of all other group members. We actively listened to each other point of view. After each group

After discussing the topics were able to come to a consensus to allow students 1, 3, and 6 into the
school. We were able to agree on the fact that the students with the highest chance of success should
be allowed into the school. This would be based on the student s track record and whether they
possess positive mental and social state of mind. We agreed that well rounded students who were
already self determined stood a good chance of maximizing their potential in the school. My

Sociological Perspective Essay
The purpose of this paper is to construct an essay and define the sociological perspective. To be
able to explain how my knowledge of the Sociological Perspective has helped me to understand
the social world on both a macro and micro level. This essay will include the definition, discussion
and application of specific sociological terms, concepts and theories.
The study of sociology brings people to view topics in a unique way than others. The way we see
the world, human behavior, as well as its connection to society from an outside point of view is
called social imagination or perception. The sociological imagination searches for the link between

Second each structure has a function that contributes to the continued stability or equilibrium of the
unified whole. Therefore, everything is perceived in a big picture from a macro point of view on
life in our society. Manifest functions are the obvious, intended functions of a social structure,
while latent functions are the less obvious, perhaps unintended functions.
Conflict theory is the second major school of thought in sociology. It is a macro level type of
approach to understand social interactions in social life, just like functionalism. A difference in
conflict theory is that our society is viewed as always being in a constant struggle, unlike
functionalism which theorizes that our society is stable. Conflict theory is a paradigm that sees
social conflict as the basis of society and social change, and emphasizes a materialist view of
society, a critical view of the status quo, and a dynamic model of historical change. Some
sociologists may believe that if these tensions, stresses, and struggles never existed in our society
people may be more driven to achieve greatness in education, or simply more motivated to set
higher goals. Just like functionalism, the conflict theory viewed society on a macro sociological
level, but the individual person in our society are having their lives shaped by the economy, control
and power. The conflict perspective s main idea is that there are opposing interests

Humanity has grown and developed an intelligence that allows itself the ability to extirpate every
single human on the planet. Human can make the world into a destitute wasteland with the flip of a

spreads around the Earth that renders one third of the population infertile. While in the novel
Angels Demons, Robert Langdon is employed to find the people who have murdered a scientist at

This statement is supported by this quote: he wore Mickey as a daily reminder to stay young at
heart, (Brown 143). This explains that the Mickey Mouse watch represents that no matter how
professional and aged one is, they must always take some time to lay back and have some fun in a
childish manner. Furthermore, the watch is important because as Robert embarks on his
tremendously imperative and perilous mission to recover the mass of antimatter, he faces difficult
and harrowing situations. The watch will always be there to remind Langdon that he must always
remember to have some fun and remember the bliss of youth. The Mickey Mouse watch is an
innocent childish tokenв є (hyphenated modifier). Moreover, the Mickey Mouse watch relates to
the plot of the novel because of how much it contrasts the situation that Robert finds himself in. In
essence, the watch acts as a foil to the harrowing situation that the antimatter theft creates. The
mention of the Mickey Mouse watch provides irony due to its contrast with the present situation.
Undoubtedly, through the examination of the abovementioned quote it becomes apparent that the
Mickey Mouse watch is not only important in the novel, but also symbolizes youth and

An UT will therefore underwrite two requests. After underwriting both each team member will
rate one of the two requests. It is important that the DCs distribute similar requests in terms of
rating time to one certain UT. Due to the fusion of step two and three 25% (time savings in
writing and getting into the case) or more of rating time will be saved. In order to stay within a
save margin we reduced the weighted average rating time by 25% and added this to the
weighted average time of underwriting. We divided the weighting time of the first request lying
on the desk while the second is being processed on both requests. In average 12 requests will be
processed by the UTs every 109.6 minutes. Every 54.8 minutes (109.6/2 min) 6 requests can be
processed by the policy writing department. Hence the average service rate in step two and three is
the same. This would also increase productivity by decreasing queuing time.
Including all these changes our calculations lead to a TAT of 3:53 hours (see Apendix)
We will not set priorities on certain products (RUNs, RERUNs, RAPs, RAINs). We will rather
implement FIFO for all products, independent of the profit generated. In order to motivate the
employees to do so Salary/Plus can set incentives by rewarding an increase of the weighted
average time needed to process a request. This is also a very fair solution with regard to the clients.

Analysis Of What s Going In By Marvin Gaye
Marvin Gaye composed What s Going In , along with fellow Motown songwriters, Al Cleveland
and Renaldo Obie B Jenson. This song was released May 21, 1971 by Motown Records. Gaye
was overwhelmed by the stories his brother, Frankie Gaye, was telling him about the tragedies he
witnessed while serving in the Vietnam War. His song was more of questioning why these
tragedies were occurring and basically stating we should love more and battle less. Gaye s lyrics
proclaim, picket lines picket signs, don t punish me with brutality, which is the American people
protesting the Vietnam War and being against U.S. involvement in this war. Gaye feels as though
we need more love and less war to solve this issue. He is seeking peace and happiness for all
mankind.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Gaye states, brother, brother, brother there s far too many of you dying. You know you
ve got to find a way, to bring some lovin here today. This creates an emotion not only for Gaye,
but for his listeners too. He is showing that he is upset for the lives lost in the Vietnam war.
During this time, clearly several issues occurred in Gaye s life. From the tragedies that happened
while his brother was in the Vietnam war and the American people protesting on the war, these
were two significant issues he experienced. When Gaye states, picket lines, and picket signs/don t
punish me with brutality this shows a type of emotion, because he witnesses the police officers
that are physically assaulting, and throwing tear gas at anti war protestors. Gaye also shows anger
in the song because he is showing ways to reflect on the stories told to him by his brother, Frankie

The Repeated Failure of the League of Nations in Keeping Peace
The League of Nations repeatedly failed in keeping the peace because, first of all Hitler went
against the Treaty of Versailles and started World War 2 yet the League of Nations failed to
react. The Treaty of Versailles also failed because Mussolini in Abyssinia went against the league
and Manchuria also contributed towards the failure to keep the peace. The structure of the league
didnГ‚ t help as the council only met once a year. The power of the league was very weak as there
was no military force. Finally the lack of strong nations joining the league contributed to the failure
of the League of Nations.

The League of Nations also failed because Mussolini, a dictator from Italy, prepared to invade
Abyssinia. Abyssinia then asked the League for help; while the League of Nations talked to
Mussolini he used the time to send an army into Africa. The League of Nations then suggested
giving Abyssinia to Italy. Mussolini ignored the League of Nations and invaded Abyssinia. In
secret however Britain and France agreed to give Abyssinia to Italy, the Hoare Laval Pact.
Manchuria became a factor or the failure of the League of Nations in 1932 when the Japanese
army invaded Manchuria and threw out the Chinese residents. They then set up their own
government called the Г‚ ManchoukuoГ‚ . When china asked the League of Nations for help it
sent a group of officials led by Lord Lytton to study the problem, this however took a year, but in
February 1933 they ordered Japan to leave Manchuria.
However Japan refused to leave Manchuria and instead left the League of Nations. As many
countries had important trading links with Japan the League of Nations couldnГ‚ t agree on
sanctions or even ban weapon sales. Britain and France didnГ‚ t want a war therefore nothing was
done. This showed the League of Nations as weak and powerless therefore adding to the failures
and breakdown of the League of Nations.

  • 6. Advantages Of Bachelor Degree Vs Associate Degree Are rising tuition costs reason enough for more people to choose Associate Degrees over Bachelor Degrees? One of the most socially accepted path ways for students coming out of high school is going to a four year college and earning a Bachelor Degree. Many, especially if attending a college prep school like Punahou, view community collegeand the Associate Degree as a downgrade or a waste of education and money. But truly an Associate Degree is just a stepping stone for high school graduate s especially if they are undecided on a profession to go into. When you truly look at the cost benefit analysis of the Associate Degree versus a Bachelor Degree the results challenge the common expectation of a high school grad. An Associate Degree should be used as a stepping stone on a student s way to getting a Bachelor and possibly even a Master Degree in their study of choice. An Associate degree also is much more cost and time effective. To top it all off earning an Associate Degree you have the ability to make more money directly out of college than a student who earns a Bachelor Degree. One major reason why people may start to choosing Associate Degrees is that an Associate can be used as a cheap stepping stone on one s way to getting their Bachelor Degree or even Master s Degree. Many people who can t go straight to a four year college, like Omer, start with an Associate degree to get there starting credits. This way Omer can get a job and have some stability when they go to try to apply for a bachelor program. An Associate Degree can help a student earn credits needed to earn a Bachelor Degree. Many four year colleges allow transfer students from community colleges to use their credits to put forth to earn a Bachelor Degree in some persons preferred subject. A large advantage of an associate degree is that recipients are more likely to have taken a structured set of courses leading to a degree in a program of study, and thus may have had an easier time transferring their credits. This way earning an Associate degree does not put people behind in their pursuit of a better degree. When looking at the opportunity cost of a two year Associate degree and a four year Bachelor degree it begins to make more sense to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Case Study Of A Rabid Dog Case study of a rabid dog: vaccine failure and owner s ignorance Summary: Rabies is a severe but preventable anthropozoonosis of developing countries. Wandering and unvaccinated dogs are the primary source of rabies particularly, in low income countries. The purpose of this presentation is to highlight the public health risks for pet owners. Despite pre exposure vaccination, rabies virus was diagnosed in dog brain using histopathology and immunohistochemistry. Negligence in prophylactic measures and dog bite management constitutes the main cause of rabies cases, largely in populated cities of Pakistan. Another contributing factor is the lack of knowledge, regarding rabies prophylaxis, among both non professionals and medical practitioners. These problems can be overcome through quick availability of reliable prophylactic measures, team up regulation of veterinary drug stores and, adequate field serosurviellance (Townsend et al., 2013). The lack of dog bite management is purely associated with the large communication gap between general public and veterinarians, which ultimately results in the lack of general awareness about rabies prophylactic measures in rural and urban communities (Franka et al., 2012). These issues can be well solved through public private partnerships (Taylor, 2013) canine herd vaccinations and raising literacy rate in general (Franka et al., 2012). • 13. Essay Correctional Theory INTRODUCTION Rehabilitation is firmly entrenched in the history of corrections in the United States. Penitentiaries, for example were formed in 1820 with the belief that offenders could be morally reformed (Cullen, Jonson, 2012, pp. 27 28). In 1870). The National Congress on Penitentiary and Reformatory Discipline documented the merits of rehabilitation (Wines, 1871, p. 457). However, by the end of the 1960s, the United States had experienced several years of discontent within its prisonsystems which resulted in a national call for prison reform and the development of a disillusionment with rehabilitation (Martinson, 1974, p. 22). In 1966, Robert Martinson was hired to evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation, the result of which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By utilizing correctional policies and practices that are not built upon evidence based theories, we risk not only imposing ineffective treatments on offenders, we risk increasing an offender s criminality (p. 3). This is especially disconcerting when one considers the potential harm to which we are exposing society upon the offender s release (Latessa, Cullen, Gendreau, 2002, p. 44). Evidence based corrections would implement rehabilitation policies, as research shows it to be the greatest opportunity to significantly impact crime as it addresses what is known to both cause and reduce criminality (Cullen, Jonson, 2012, p. 11). Inherent in the ideals of effective rehabilitation are the identification of criminogenic risk factors (i.e., correlates of criminality) such as aggression, and the establishment of individualized evidence based treatments which address them (p. 30). In other words, offenders offend for different reasons and until we target those reasons with empirically sound treatments and interventions, we cannot hope for successful rehabilitation. Worse yet, by utilizing one size fits all treatments, we risk exposing them to criminogenic risk factors, further exacerbating their criminal propensities (p. 12). Ultimately, the importance of evidence based corrections cannot be overstated for it is through careful evaluation of empirically sound data that we learn how to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the correctional system as well as the ... The imagery created by Eleanor Roosevelt emphasizes the emotional strength of a woman, which may often be overshadowed by her physical inferiority, as compared to her male counterpart. The hot water is a representation of the hostile or conflicting situation that women encounter on a daily basis. This would come in the form of emotional obstacles and mental tribulations, as they have to oppose many of society s wishes before they can achieve their dreams. Although women may appear fragile, docile, and porous to the desires of men, their course of action as they overcome their adversity would prove their character to be strong, willful, and self reliant. Authors Mary E. To understand what a designer baby is, genetics also has to be understood. Generics is the study of heredity, discovered by Gregor Mendel (also known as the father of genetics) and his pea plants experiment. In Mendel s experiment he described the unit of heredity as a particle that does not change and is passed on to offsprings (Mandal). Montessori says, В… an individual is disciplined when he is the master of himself and when he can, as a consequence, control himself when he must follow a rule of life (Montessori, 1997, p. 51). This Chapter discusses the progress made using the Nottingham Pulse Rig towards determining the mechanism of the Fischer Tropsch reaction. A summary of the three main mechanisms proposed in the literature was outlined in Chapter 1 but is still the subject of much debate.1 6 Generally the carbide mechanism is accepted for Fe catalysts,7 but the mechanism over Co catalysts is less clear.1 Ge and Neurock,8 as well as Ojeda et al.,4 have suggested that the carbide mechanism is the pathway for FT synthesis on Co catalysts. However, they disagree over the route to CO dissociation; direct dissociation of the carbonyl bond has been proposed by Ge and Neurock, whilst Ojeda et al. have concluded that carbonyl dissociation proceeds via an H assisted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3.1.1 On the Mechanism and Active Site of the FT Process Over Co Catalysts Several studies have investigated the effect of syngas on the structure of metallic Co catalysts.9 12 For instance, Karaca et al. investigated the effect of syngas on a CoPt/Al2O3 catalyst using X Ray Diffraction (XRD).9 After reducing the catalyst in H2 at 623 K, XRD peaks were observed for face centred cubic (fcc) and hexagonal close packed (hcp) structures of metallic Co. After exposure to 20 bar of syngas at 493 K, the fcc XRD peaks became narrower over 5 hrs, which was suggested to be due to an increase in the particle size due to sintering of the Co metal phase. Over the subsequent 5 hrs this peak decreased in intensity and a new peak assigned to a carbide phase grew in. Therefore, the authors concluded that deactivation of the catalyst was due initially to sintering and then, over longer periods of time, to carbidisation. Wilson and de Groot have investigated the surface reorganisation of a model Co catalyst upon exposure to 4 bar of a H2/CO mixture (2:1 ratio) at 523 K.10 11 The surface was examined ex situ in an Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) chamber before and after exposure to syngas using a Scanning Tunnelling Microscope (STM). Before exposure to CO the surface consisted of flat terraces, with a Co(0001) structure. The terrace surfaces were separated by cliff edges ranging in size from single atom high steps ... The Code Of Life And The Human Genome As was said in the beginning of the video, the ultimate achievement that one can make scientifically is to look at our own human genome, or instruction book if you will, and try to figure out what it is telling us, what it reads. This began happening in the late 1990s, to 2000s, when people began diving deeper into what DNAreally tells us. In a sense, we have found the key to unlock, or crack, the code of life, and this is also the key to diagnosing and curing genetically transmitted diseases. This key is what the Human Genome Projectsearched to find, and what Cracking the Code of Life is all about. A single message, which we call DNA, has been passed down from the very first microscopic organism all the way to us today. It travels in a continuous thread that flows through all living things, and is the secret of all life. This message within all of us is made up of four nitrogen bases, Guanine (G), Thymine (T), Cytosine (C), and Adenine (A), which are connected in a double helix, which looks like a twisted ladder. These bases come in pairs, as G connects with C, and A with T, and the order of these base pairs is what creates the variance we see in every organism today. There are approximately 3 billion base pairs in the human genome, but only about 30,000 are actually our genes. However, one wrong letter out of 3 billion can cause extreme various in humans To put this into perspective, every human body is 99.9% identical in its genetic code. That means that .01% of ... After underwriting both each team member will rate one of the two requests. It is important that the DCs distribute similar requests in terms of rating time to one certain UT. Due to the fusion of step two and three 25% (time savings in writing and getting into the case) or more of rating time will be saved. In order to stay within a save margin we reduced the weighted average rating time by 25% and added this to the weighted average time of underwriting. We divided the weighting time of the first request lying on the desk while the second is being processed on both requests. In average 12 requests will be processed by the UTs every 109.6 minutes. Every 54.8 minutes (109.6/2 min) 6 requests can be processed by the policy writing department. Hence the average service rate in step two and three is the same. This would also increase productivity by decreasing queuing time. Including all these changes our calculations lead to a TAT of 3:53 hours (see Apendix) We will not set priorities on certain products (RUNs, RERUNs, RAPs, RAINs). We will rather implement FIFO for all products, independent of the profit generated. In order to motivate the employees to do so Salary/Plus can set incentives by rewarding an increase of the weighted average time needed to process a request. This is also a very fair solution with regard to the clients. Conclusion We will be able to renew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. Analysis Of What s Going In By Marvin Gaye Marvin Gaye composed What s Going In , along with fellow Motown songwriters, Al Cleveland and Renaldo Obie B Jenson. This song was released May 21, 1971 by Motown Records. Gaye was overwhelmed by the stories his brother, Frankie Gaye, was telling him about the tragedies he witnessed while serving in the Vietnam War. His song was more of questioning why these tragedies were occurring and basically stating we should love more and battle less. Gaye s lyrics proclaim, picket lines picket signs, don t punish me with brutality, which is the American people protesting the Vietnam War and being against U.S. involvement in this war. Gaye feels as though we need more love and less war to solve this issue. He is seeking peace and happiness for all mankind.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Gaye states, brother, brother, brother there s far too many of you dying. You know you ve got to find a way, to bring some lovin here today. This creates an emotion not only for Gaye, but for his listeners too. He is showing that he is upset for the lives lost in the Vietnam war. During this time, clearly several issues occurred in Gaye s life. From the tragedies that happened while his brother was in the Vietnam war and the American people protesting on the war, these were two significant issues he experienced. When Gaye states, picket lines, and picket signs/don t punish me with brutality this shows a type of emotion, because he witnesses the police officers that are physically assaulting, and throwing tear gas at anti war protestors. Gaye also shows anger in the song because he is showing ways to reflect on the stories told to him by his brother, Frankie Gaye. Frankie was a Vietnam war ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Repeated Failure of the League of Nations in Keeping Peace The League of Nations repeatedly failed in keeping the peace because, first of all Hitler went against the Treaty of Versailles and started World War 2 yet the League of Nations failed to react. The Treaty of Versailles also failed because Mussolini in Abyssinia went against the league and Manchuria also contributed towards the failure to keep the peace. The structure of the league didnГ‚ t help as the council only met once a year. The power of the league was very weak as there was no military force. Finally the lack of strong nations joining the league contributed to the failure of the League of Nations. The League of Nations failed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The League of Nations also failed because Mussolini, a dictator from Italy, prepared to invade Abyssinia. Abyssinia then asked the League for help; while the League of Nations talked to Mussolini he used the time to send an army into Africa. The League of Nations then suggested giving Abyssinia to Italy. Mussolini ignored the League of Nations and invaded Abyssinia. In secret however Britain and France agreed to give Abyssinia to Italy, the Hoare Laval Pact. Manchuria became a factor or the failure of the League of Nations in 1932 when the Japanese army invaded Manchuria and threw out the Chinese residents. They then set up their own government called the Г‚ ManchoukuoГ‚ . When china asked the League of Nations for help it sent a group of officials led by Lord Lytton to study the problem, this however took a year, but in February 1933 they ordered Japan to leave Manchuria. However Japan refused to leave Manchuria and instead left the League of Nations. As many countries had important trading links with Japan the League of Nations couldnГ‚ t agree on sanctions or even ban weapon sales. Britain and France didnГ‚ t want a war therefore nothing was done. This showed the League of Nations as weak and powerless therefore adding to the failures and breakdown of the League of Nations. The way the League of Nations was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
