Swot Analysis Example
SWOT usage SWOT has been used by countless practitioners, marketing researchers, and is a frequent
and popular tool for business marketing and strategy students. Its simplicity and catchy acronym
perpetuates its usage in business and beyond as the tool is used to assess alternatives and complex
decision situations. In the business arena the grouping of internal and external issues is a frequent
starting point for strategic planning. It can be constructed quickly and can benefit from multiple
viewpoints as a brainstorming exercise. Typically, managers first consider internal strengths and
weaknesses (at the top row of the 2 × 2 grid) which can include image, structure, access to natural
resources, capacity and efficiency, and financial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 142 studies were examined for trends, issues, uses of SWOT, and value added in long term
planning. Specifically, studies were sought that indicated sole use of SWOT analysis or if SWOT was
used in combination with other long range strategic planning tools. The authors next used affinity
diagrams to group and classify the collected studies using summaries on index cards. Affinity
diagrams are a popular text clustering technique used to categorize large number of seemingly
disparate comments ([41] Dobrzynski, 2007; [106] Levesque and Walker, 2007; [132] Plain, 2007;
[196] White et al. , 2002; [117] Mango, 2006). The affinity diagram methodology was chosen due to
its importance as an interpretative, qualitative approach to research, allowing for investigation and
emergence of multiple contextual variables or classification schemes. The objective of the
methodology is to utilize the qualitative data for explanatory purposes and to generalize findings in
support of theory based on a distillation of the various respondent comments. The clustering of issues
into logical categories helps draw inferences from the data collected. Thus the goal is to better
understand categories of service failures and identify the service failures that result in customer
defection. The researchers summarized, grouped, and clustered the comments by key themes and
focus areas. Through the iterative process, major classifications were identified

The Chinese Room Thought Experiment Analysis
John Searle s thought experiment in paper Minds, brains and programs from 1980 is one of the most
recognisable and broadly accredited critiques of artificial intelligence (AI) an idea that computers are
(or some day will be) able to think. Researchers in AI field often make a claim that our mental activity
can be compared to a computer following a program. In such a view human brains do nothing more
but simply process information on a massive scale. The most important question that Searle wants to
discuss in his paper is: What psychological and philosophical significance should we attach to recent
efforts at computer simulations of human cognitive capacities? (p. 417) In order to tackle this idea he
establishes two different types of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the replies of the Chinese room would then be created in almost the same manner as the
responses of a genuine speaker, Chinese room would truly understand Chinese. Against this, Searle
gives an example of him operating water pipes to give answers in Chinese instead of writing on paper.
He would still not understand Chinese. Simulations do not necessarily have the same features or
properties as what they simulate. A simulation of a hurricane, for example, has nothing of the
capacities of a real hurricane (p.

Essay On Epilepsy
Sixty five million people around the world have epilepsy, three million of those alone are in the
United States. (Joseph I. Sirven MD and Patricia O. Shafer RN, 2014) What is epilepsy? According to
the U.S. National Library of Medicine, epilepsy is a disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of
paroxysmal brain dysfunction due to a sudden, disorderly, and excessive neuronal discharge. The
classification system for epilepsy is usually based upon: (1) clinical features of the seizure episodes,
(2) etiology, (3) anatomic site of seizure origin, (4) tendency to spread to other structures in the brain,
and (5) temporal patterns.

Information Security Threats to the Banking Industry
To start off with I chose to go with our banking or financial industry. The banking industry is
constantly getting attacked by various methods on a daily basis. I chose this industry because I happen
to know someone who works in the security sector at Wells Fargo Bank, he was a good person to get
information on what he sees on a daily or weekly basis. This paper is the opinion of myself and with

This would halt if not shut down the entire bank for the day depending on how severe the attack was.
In most cases the banks have a backup system in place in the event of these types of security breeches
as well as natural disasters. During a security breech within the banking system everyone who does
business with that bank and other banks who do business with that bank could all be effected if the
breech went far enough before being discovered. The security teams within the banking system must
always be constantly checking for attempts or attacks on their systems. Below is a list and description
of the most common types of attacks on the banking or financial industry. Organized Crime targeting

many of these have been located overseas and most of them have been based in Eastern Europe that

Draft One of Term Paper on: Simon Bolivar
IBH History of the Americas
Simon Bolivar does not deserve the title of Liberator of Latin America.
Latin America as we know it today has undergone many changes throughout history. The beginning
for this time of change was 1808. Spain, the country most widely responsible for the colonization of
Latin America, was in trouble with France s master of conquest, Napoleon Bonaparte. Napolien
overthrew the King of Spain and replaced him with his brother, Joseph Bonaparte. The repercusions of
this evet rolled through Latin America and primed the atmosphere for revolution. The colonial people
of Latin America had no loyalty to the new Jing Joseph. This lack of respect for the new ... Show more

In Venezuela, the Republics are torn down by bloody counter revolutions, led by non creoles. In
Mexico, Father Hidalgo and Morelos were crushed by their conservative countrymen.
The second phase, which was less political and more militarily based took place between 1815 and
1825, and ended with the triumph of the patriots. It was an an all out militarization of the war; Simón
Bolívar, for example, was able to incorporate popular elements into his armies, such as the llaneros
(plainsmen), who had previously been formidable enemies of the patriot enterprise, and actually had
forced his early attempts at independence into the ground. There change of loyalty to him indicated his
own changing in value and understanding that he would need to please more than the creole class.
In Mexico, a different process took place, but it reflects the real politics that characterized this
successful predominatly military phase: the Royalist commander Agustín de Iturbide assimilated
conservative and progressive elements into an independent monarchy with him at its head. He did not
last long, but he lasted long enough to ensure the transition from colonial to national Mexico. The
victory of the patriots was ambigious, however the social and political structures of power continued
to be oppressive for the mass majority of the people in the new republics.
Throughout the nineteenth century, incessant civil war resulting from the powder keg of popular

1950s Music
1. The space race was after the cold war, between the United States and the Soviet Union, to see
would get to the moon first. Satellite is sung by Teresa Brewer, it has a powerful message and a catchy
beat. This is the perfect song because the lyrics describe what the United States was going through at
this time. 2. Living in the suburbs in the 50s was viewed as the American Dream. Little Boxes mocks
the suburban life style, with the houses made out of ticky tacky and they all look the same. The song
breaks down what it is truly like to live in the suburbs. 3. In the 1950s women were expected to be a

Technology in the 50s wasn t very advanced as it is now so when the Vacuum tube Amplifier came
out, musicians everywhere came out of the wood works so get their hands on it. It gave rock n roll its
critical element, volume, with the added a warm sound. Rocket 88 by Ike Turner/Jackie Brenston was
recorded on one and had a little tid bit of it in the song. 7. Life of a teenager in the 1950s was very
conventional, they had a lot of rules as to what they can and cannot do. Summertime Blues is a song
about teenagers sterotical problems and the life of a teen. This is the best pick because it literally says
how life was for a teen in the 50s. 8. Love songs are a timeless piece of music, every single generation
has thousands of iconic love songs. I picked Why do Fools Fall in Love out of thousands of love songs
because it is such a beautiful song. It s a lovesick ballad that really connects with the 50s with its
lyrics. 9. Televison was first produced in 1951, but it wasn t untill 1953 when good shows became
accessible. One of the first TV Shows to become very popular in the 50s is I Love Lucy , so I picked
the theme song. I Love Lucy was one of the most Iconic and loved TV s shows in the 50s, so it just

A Summary on James Joyce’s Eveline
In James Joyce s Eveline , Eveline remains in Dublin to care for her father, to take care of the house
and the kids, and she realized she was already comfortable in her current home. Eveline has lived in
Dublin her whole life in Dublin and has seen her siblings either leave home or pass away through
time. Yet she remains in the house that she grew up in, experienced the changes in environment,
changes in time, and the change in the people around her. She has seen her mother pass away, her
father grow older and crueler. She has witnessed the field in which they used to play every evening
with other people s children be destroyed by a man from Belfast who bought the field and built houses

Eveline feared what would happen if she just got up and left her father. She was the one taking care of
him, regardless of his actions towards her. This fear can be backed up by state of Ireland during that
time, as it is written in On the Resources of Ireland Much of the public attention is at this time drawn
to the wants of the labouring poor of Ireland, and the great decay of her trade and manufactures. (425).
Thus in the end Eveline decided to stay in Dublin, her fear swallowed her up. However this isn t a bad
thing all together. It gave her the realization of what she truly wanted in the end, and just because she
gave into her fears, it does not mean she won t be happy where she stays.

Theory Analysis
Sigmund Freud Psychosexual Theory
· Basic Philosophy The basic philosophy is that the sex instinct is the most factor influencing
personality; sexual instinct is present at birth, but it occurs in stages. The sex instinct provides the
driving force for thought and activity. If conflicts from these stages are not resolved fixations may
occur. If overindulgence at a stage may result in a person remaining at that stage. Certain personality
traits develop from difficulty in one stage or another, for instance the anal stage can give the obsession
for a person to be excessively neat and clean.

Literacy Narrative
Most children are not very fond of reading books in school. I was one of those children until I read a
novel called, The Other Side of Dark written by Joan Lowery Nixon in the 4th grade. My school had
held a book fair during the week of open house. As a child, all children want the toys and games they
had at the book fair, not bothering to even glance at the books. My mother told me to look for a book
that was not only easy for me to read but something that I would enjoy. I walked around our petite
library, which was where the book fair was being held, and scanned the various novels that were
displayed until one caught my eye. I was only 10 years old looking for a book without the knowledge
of what types of literature that interested me. As I turned the corner at the end of the library I caught a
glimpse of a hardcover novel called The Other Side of Dark . On the back of novel I read the synopsis
which was about a 13 year old girl who was shot and put into coma until she was 17 years old waking
up to discovering that her family was also murdered by the same person who shot her 4 years ago. I
was quickly captivated by this summary on the back of the novel and persuaded to read further. Open
house was coming to an end and my family and I headed back to our house in La Mirada, California.
One of our homework assignments was to read at least 20 minutes a night to improve our reading
skills. We quickly arrived at our home and I

Polar Bears And Polar Bear
Polar Bear
Introduction
Polar bears live in the Arctic Circle with temperatures that can be minus fifty degrees Celsius. Polar
bears are considered marine mammals because they spend the majority of the life at sea, swimming
for miles, but they are the only marine mammal that has limbs and also roams on ice and land. Male
polar bears generally are twice the size of females, or sow s. An ancestor of the grizzly bear, polar
bears live in the Arctic Circle and spend majority of their time in the ocean hunting for seals. Seals
being the meal of choice for polar bears they have adapted to the harsh climate and learned how to
hunt seals (Willmer, 2004). The population size of polar bears is uncertain but Canada is responsible

Along with being translucent the bears fur is also hollow, this helps the bear swim, also preventing the
freezing water from touching the bears skin. The bears fur is also long, fine and densely packed
insulating the bear further (Willmer, 2004). The polar bear have large feet and the soles are covered in
fur, insulating the feet and also used as grip for walking on the ice and snow. The large feet surface
area on their feet also serves as grip for walking long distances searching for food. They also have
small ears which decrease risk of water getting in them. The small ears also reduce heat loss.
Diet
Polar bears are the most carnivorous of the bear family. Polar bears have large narrow heads allowing
them to fit there heard in small spaces searching for food. They have a great sense of smell allowing
them to sniff out predators form far away. They have the most sensitive nose of any mammal this
allows them to smell a seal that is three feet under the snow, or thirty kilometers away. When they do
find a seal den they jump and push all their body weight into the snow breakings free the seal from
underneath the ice. This hunting tactic mastered by polar bears acts as a surprise attack, and the seal
never knew what was coming. These bears incredible sense of smell allows them to pin point the exact
spot where the seal s den is under the ice, otherwise if the polar bear is wrong the hunt will not be
successful. This method is so important because the

Compare And Contrast Buddhism And Christianity
Buddhism and Christianity are both prominent religions in our world today. There are over billions of
individuals across the globe who take part in the everyday rituals and practices of these two ethical
practices. However, what s so intriguing about these religions is how incompatible they genuinely are.
In Buddhism, its religious beliefs are centered around the teachings of Siddhartha Buddha. Through
the works of Buddha, he was able to discover a way to put an end to the painful cycle of rebirth, death
, and reincarnation. He learned that through extreme meditation and resentment from pleasures, you
will be able to end your cycle of suffering by attaining Nirvana(enlightenment) But, in Christianity, it
revolves around the teachings and miracles of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the anointed son of God
who came down from heaven to redeem us of our sins. It was through his miraculous works that
allowed us to be saved and have salvation in heaven with our heavenly father. In order to get to this
spiritual kingdom, Christians believe that by following in the footsteps of Jesus, we will one day be
righteously granted with the gift to live out the rest of our lives in eternal paradise with God himself.
Nevertheless, although there is a considerable amount of difference between these religions, there are
still numerous similarities. With the assistance of Smart s Seven Dimensions of Religion, these
similarities and difference can be vividly explained. Through the works

The Importance Of Bilingual Education
The number of language minority children in the public schools have increased tremendously over the
last ten years. Bilingual Education has continued to grow relentlessly. The number of children who
have enrolled in dual language (DL) programs only continues to increase. Truly though, are DL
teachers ready to teach children in bilingual classrooms? Have these teachers received the appropriate
training so that their instruction would work effectively for the bilingual children? According to Baker,
the outcome of the staff professional development program should benefit the teachers by increasing
their understanding of second language acquisition and developing effective curriculum approaches in
teaching language minority students as well being aware of the students language and cultural
background (Baker, 2011). In the article Dual Language Teachers Use of conventional, environmental,
and personal resources to support academic language development, Lucero carefully considers the DL
teachers instructional practices with their potential to improve bilingual academic language outcomes
for students. Since the allocation of resources is a significant factor impacting teacher instructional
practices, this aspect is divided into three common types of resources composed of the conventional,
environmental, and personal areas. Conventional resources involve curriculum, facilities, teacher
certification, plus professional development sessions. Environmental

American History X Essay examples
American History X
American History X is clearly a film dealing with the social topic of racism. The interesting thing
about this film is the way in which the subject is presented. First of all, it is obvious that, though
racism is always a difficult subject to deal with, American History X presents it without any
reservations or dummying down. Second, the film s figurehead for racism, Derek Vinyard (Edward
Norton), is not an unintelligent redneck racist as films often portray them, but is in fact well spoken,
charismatic and bright, although he clearly holds ideals that are terribly wrong. Finally, the film shows
that it is not only the white, neo nazi racists who are fools for being involved in this, but all those who

The film also did a very good job in the way they tie racial issues in with the portrayal of Derek s
character as a strong and bold leader. The things that make Derek such a powerful and frightening
character is not the fact that he is racist, it is the fact that instead of choosing a somewhat regular,
backwoods, unintelligent racist as the films central character, Derek is well spoken and bright. It is
these qualities that allow him to recruit the youths of Venice Beach and form, with the help of his

causing Americans to suffer a poor standard of living. He tells them America needs to take care of

increasing trend of awareness among the community to go for natural treatments and it s definitely

How is Apple Cider Vinegar made?
Apple cider vinegar is obtained by the fermentation of apple cider or apple must which is made from
crushed organic apples. Just for your information, fermentation means an act of conversion. Organic
apples have some kind of bacteria and yeast on their skins. So when they are crushed, you get pure
apple juice with a mixture of bacteria and yeast.
After which you leave it to mature for a while. During this process, sugar in the apple cider is broken
down by yeast and bacteria which turns into alcohol. It s more like a brewing process which
eventually turns into vinegar after a second fermentation.
If you don t have all the time or resources to make one at home, you can easily purchase ACV from
any departmental stores. First of all, make sure you get the organic ACV with the labels saying With
the Mother with an ideal acidity (pH) level of five to seven. This means that it is in raw and pure form

The Pros And Cons Of The American Civil War
Railroads are not nearly as popular in the United States as they are in European countries. Prior to the
American Civil War, railroads were a fairly new, and untried, invention. Compared to carriages and
the other modes of transportation at the time, the railroad was far superior. Due to this superiority, they
were used to transport soldiers, food, and supplies. A systemic railroad began to spread all across the
nation, and both sides of the war used them to their advantage. The railroad construction started as

and was over 5,550 miles long! In 1831, the state of Maryland granted the B O Railroad and charter to
begin construction of a line connecting Maryland to Washington D.C. The south, which was mostly a
society built on agriculture, was at a huge disadvantage when it came to railroads. Two thirds of all the
railroads in the nation at the time were in the north. The southern states couldn t transport anything as

in the South. In the south, there were cities that

Summary Of Srinivasha RamaanujanBy John Keats
collaborated on several ground breaking papers. But in 1917, as a result of the climate and a poor diet,
Ramanujan contracted tuberculosis. A well known story tells Hardy visiting him in hospital; unable to
think what to say.
Placing Ramanujan along side John Keats may seem a bit paradoxical as he former belonging to
Mahemtics the latter to English Literature. Moreover, Ramanujan has never been marked having an
interest in English language nor in literature. But the juxtaposition is apt and appropriate in the sense
that both the heroes of respective faculties are te best examples of the proverb, Men live in deeds not
in years . John Keats lived for only twenty sic years. In his short span of life granted to him, he dived
deep into the ocean of literature and gave many precious verses that are peculiar and unique. He left
an everlasting imprint on the body of English literature by devoting his life to the service of English
Literarure. He lived through many odds in life. Miseries dominated in his life. He died of tuberculosis.
He stands no way less than the other poets, some were fortunate even to spend enough to a century.
Likewise, Srinivasha Ramanujan lived only thirty three years. For him also, life was not a bed of roses
trails and distributions became part and parcel of his life. But he remained engrossed in his
mathematical passion notching up several milestones in his short life span. Even though he had lived
for only thirty three years, he has contributed a lot

How Did The Framers Create A Democratic Government
Asia Pratka
The United States Constitution was created in fear of protecting the people that it governed from the
government itself. The Framers pursued the Constitution to prevent the government that they had left
behind, the Monarchy of England. After the failed Articles of Confederation, they needed a strong,
balanced federal government. Leaving tyrannical England where leaders were not held accountable,
disparaging towards natural rights, and lack of consent from the people it governs. The Framers were
able to cultivate a constitution dedicated towards the people. They believed that consent from the
governed was the only way to create legitimate governance. The Framers laid out a Constitution that
would provide for a strong, national government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people are the basis for any power that the federal government preserves and must always protect
those who empower them. The written Constitution they created was not to define the rights of the
people, but to limit the powers the national government would hold over the people. The Constitution
would create a National government that would create a strong federal government, while
safeguarding the rights of the people, and conserving checks on power it holds. The framers did not
believe in cataloging individual rights in the constitution. They believed it would be threatening to
define the rights that the people hold. Alexander Hamilton specifically believed that the Constitution
had no power to infringe on the natural rights that all people have. However, the Bill of Rights was
created from a compromise and thus, created the first ten amendments to the Constitution. These
rights listed protections from the National government. These rights have proven to be security against
the federal governments use of an enumerated power that they might hold. It is important for this very
reason to have a written Bill of Rights in the United States Constitution. It does not define what rights
the people hold, it defines what the government is entrusted to protect: the people. It is for this reason
that I agree that the Bill of Rights was necessary to be written in the

Increasing Water Quality In U-High Creek
The quality of the U High creek was identified as excellent. However, water quality is not excellent in
all areas. There are many ways that water is polluted by humans, including pesticides and fertilizers
from farming. Farmers use chemicals to help their crops grow better, but those chemicals are washed
through the ground when precipitation comes, causing the levels of nitrate and phosphate to increase
in the creek (Lenntech, 1998 2016). These chemicals allow for more algae to grow in the process of
eutrophication (Lenntech, 1998 2016). When that algae dies, lots of dissolved oxygen is needed to
form bacteria. Thus, there is less oxygen in the water for the organisms to breathe, causing them to
die. Bioaccumulation can occur, where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These organisms need energy from nutrients to do their job (Advanced Biotech, 1995 2015). There are
two types of this, bio stimulation and bio augmentation (Advanced Biotech, 1995 2015). In
stimulation, nutrients are added to the water, therefore depending on the microbes being in the water
(Advanced Biotech, 1995 2015). Not all forms of microbes can break down every type of bacteria. In
the process of augmentation, scientifically chosen micro organisms are added to the water and
monitored, therefore being more effective than stimulation because it is positive that the organism(s)
being added are the right type and will do the job (Advanced Biotech, 1995 2015). Some benefits to
this process are that it is very effective in killing the bacteria and it will work quickly once it is
effective. Once the bacteria and micro organism types are identified, this method is sure to work. Once
the organisms are added, it won t be long before they are done breaking down the bacteria. However,
there are some downsides. This method could take lots of time to find the right organisms to kill off
the bacteria. Not only will it take long, but it could be costly to purchase the right type of micro
organism to kill of that specific type of

Quality And Characteristics Of Different Platforms
Aim of this report is to identify nature, quality and characteristics of different platforms available such
as Peer to Peer, Client Server, and virtualization architecture to establish a communication network
between computers in relation with administration, security and usability. Communication is the need
for all businesses, with the growing number of population the demand to use better ways to
communicate and share resources are increasing, and thanks to the fast emerging new technologies
now organizations are able to share their resources efficiently. Today organizations can easily
established a network of the computers and devices to fulfill their need to share information, files and
resources over network. To do so, there are mainly three platforms available, each has its own pros
and cons. Even after establishment of the network there is also a need of care so that network keep
running smoothly without any problems. To optimize the working of the network, we need to
administrate the network with best practice in place. There are many roles and responsibilities
associated to in maintaining a network such as building, configuring, managing user s permissions to
performing regular test and optimizing network, but with the rise in the shift the organization do their
business also increases the threats associated to them. That is where the need for security arises to
protect with the increasing threats of malicious attack such as viruses, hacking and botnets etc. So

Freakonomics A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side...
Freakonomics A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything by Steven D. Levitt and
Stephen J. Dubner
Freakonomics brings together many combinations of thoughts that one wouldn t find relevant in
companionship. The two authors discuss comparisons that are so off the wall, that you almost question
reading the book; however, that is the reason many read the book in the first place. The authors Levitt
and Dubner compare in one chapter of Freakonomics the reason why drug dealers live with their
moms. Throughout this chapter, the authors discuss questions about why intelligent people sometimes
do not ask questions that people really care about, advertising and surveys, and why, in general, do
drug dealers still live with their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, I find that throughout this topic of discussion from Freakonomics, the author s use
examples that help clarify the reader s curiosity to why such a question should be asked in the first
place, and thus, setting the reader s mind to think about the following topics in the chapter.
The second point I aim to prove, is the author s use of advertising and examples of misused surveys to
prepare the reader for the chapter s topic. The evidence in this section is based on an example of Mitch
Snyder, who was an advocate for homeless people, a Listerine advertising campaign, and the Atlanta
Police Department s instantly cleaner image to prepare for the 1996 Olympic Games. All three of
these examples leave the reader feeling like they have just wasted 15 minutes reading something that
does not even pertain to the chapter s content.
Levitt and Dubner use Mitch Snyder s case as an example to show how surveys and statistics, when
given in error, provide the media with an informational field day. Snyder was an activist for homeless
people who testified before Congress about the enormous size of the current homeless rate.Their use
of this example is hard to understand, because sufficient evidence is not given to the reader as to why
this example is important. The section on advertising seems to take the reader away from the chapter s
context for a while, confuse them, and then land them back to

Anthropogenic Waves
Rays of pale sunlight pass through a gradient of cerulean blue. The wide open space seems almost
eerie until a humpback whale gently swimming sings his song, and the space fills with wonder, that is
until there is a disturbance.
Cetaceans evolved to use sound as their way of sensing the environment, navigating, foraging, and
selecting mates. Anthropogenic sounds have negative effects on marine life. Humans produce their
own underwater sounds through activities such as aircraft over flights, boats and ships (vessels),
tourism, stationary offshore activities, air gun firing, sonars, explosions, and methods to control
movement of marine life (W. Johnson Richardson and Bernd Würsig, 1997). Many studies have

Killer whales utilize calls, clicks, and whistles for navigation and foraging (Juliana Houghton et al.,

major threats to this endangered whale. The killer whales in the Salish Sea were studied as part of a
larger ongoing project to understand vessel noise and its affects in more detail. This study used a new
version of digital acoustic tag technology. These tags contain two hydrophones that record all
underwater sounds (I will discuss this more further on). Vessel speed was found to contribute the most
to anthropogenic noise on this killer whale population. This study can help managers regulate the
speed restrictions of vessels in order to help this endangered whale species. Again, we have
confirmation that vessels are the primary anthropogenic noise affecting cetacean

William Shakespeare s Othello, The Moor Of Venice
A tragedy is typically explained as a type of drama that displays pain and suffering, and where the
main character, the protagonist, experiences a life changing event that alters his fortune from good too
bad. William Shakespeare s play, Othello, the Moor of Venice is classified as an Aristotelian classical
tragedy based on the guidelines Aristotle sets when examining a tragedy. Othello is a general in the
Venetian army, and the husband of Desdemona, and well respected by society. The play describes how
Othello s fate has an undesirable change in fortune, the reversal. In brief, Othello is portrayed as a
happy, powerful man in the beginning of the play, and by the end of the play he endures pain and
suffering from his own misfortune ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The play demonstrates recognition of Othello in Act V, his character changes from gullible and
insecure to aware. The ideas of Aristotelian tragic components are discussed in depth in his Poetics.
Aristotelian components include; the importance of events, the catharsis, the dramatic form, the
reversal and recognition, and the tragic hero giving substantial proof that the play is an Aristotelian
tragedy, and that Othello is a tragic hero according to Aristotle.
The tragic hero, Othello, is a Moorish general in the Venetian army that has just married the Venetian
nobleman s daughter, Desdemona. Although Othello was not born into nobility (upper class), his
marriage to Desdemona brings him to a noble stature in Venice society. Othello is much older than his
wife and of different descent and race, but he willingly stood before Desdemona s father and fought
for their love and right to marriage, he states, How I did thrive in this fair lady s love, / And she is
mine (1.3.127 28). This qualifies him to meet the first Aristotelian component for being the plays
tragic hero. The first distinguishing feature Aristotle identifies in regards to the tragic hero is that he is
the protagonist in high

Essay about Cultural History of Alcohol
Alcohol has been the lifeblood of civilization dating thousands of years back in time, and it is clear to
see the culture impact it has made throughout history. People perceive alcohol in many different ways;
depending on gender, age, religious background, or social upbringing. Throughout history alcohol has
affected different cultures and various demographics. It has been a source of pleasure and aesthetic in
many cultures, along with being one of the oldest rites of passage, especially in modern day American
society. Alcohol and drinking were also an integral part of religious observances throughout history

In American culture especially, drinking is seen as a rite of passage or assimilation into adulthood.
Young people in many cultures are introduced to drinking early in life, as a normal part of daily living.
Whereas in America, drinking at a young age is looked down upon, the reverse is true in societies that
maintain the best moderate drinking practices. The idea of a minimum as before someone should be
protected from alcohol is alien in China and France. Children learn to drink early in Zambia by taking
small quantities when they are sent to buy beer; children in France, Italy, and Spain are routinely given
wine as part of a meal or celebration. In the United States, the legal age to drink varies dramatically
form others around the world but is still look upon as a step into adulthood. Though attitudes and
behaviors vary in different places, drinking can be seen as a routine way of assimilating a youth into
their respective culture s social customs.
The relationship between alcoholic beverages and religion goes back thousands of years. The use of
wine is at the heart of many Christian Religions and important Jewish ceremonies are marked by
drinking a prescribe number of glasses. The Ancient Egyptians believe the much worship god Osiris.

Hitchcock s Film Adaptation Of The 39 Steps
The 39 Steps is a theatrical production based on John Buchan s 1915 novel and Alfred Hitchcock s
1935 film. Unlike the original source material, the production was designed for four actors to play
over a hundred characters in total. Overall, it was an incredibly successful performance which did not
fail to bring in a good story and laughs throughout.
The story is set in Britain during the 1930s and the stage production shows points to this in a few
ways. The most noticeable hints I found towards the time period was the costumes, which is what
tends to draw my eye a lot. Alfred Hitchcock s film adaptation of The 39 Steps was very much in the
film noir style. Black and white colour scheme, somewhat melodramatic acting, the whole lot. While
the theatre production is not completely in this style, it still makes some allusions towards Hitchcock s
film. For example, the acting is still very hammy and overdramatic (though not in a bad way by any
means) and the main protagonist does monologue about himself.
The production has only four actors to play all the characters, around ... Show more content on

The Pros And Cons Of The Alberta Oil Sands
Have you ever thought about if the Alberta Oil Sands are an economic and environmentally sufficient
enough that we should still utilize the resource of oil? The Alberta Oil Sands also known as the tar
sands were first mined in 1967 and ever since they have done a great deal to Alberta s economic
stability. The issue is that all good things have a bad side as well. Some main disadvantages to the oil
sands is that natural habitats get destroyed, creates greenhouse gas emissions which are harmful to
humans and the environment and the issue of is it more environmentally friendly to use another source
for energy such as methane?

Some pros of the oils sands are they made Canada the biggest supplier of oil to the US which allowed
for the beginning of a fruitful economic partnership. The oil sands are also a stable source of energy
due to the oil sands being the second largest site in the world. Alberta has flourished due to the oils
sands which creates thousands of jobs for locals. On the downside there are also cons to every project.
Some disadvantages to the oils sands are since the oil is so deep underground; the process of
extraction is very carbon intense which creates more greenhouse gas. Thousands of bird species have a
loss of their breeding grounds due to the fact that the mining operation is located where the breeding
ground used to be. As of right now and our rate of consumption of oil we have approximately only 40
years worth of oil left. Some people say that we rely on the oils sands too much and eventually we will
have to find a new source of energy. I say, for now it s fair to say that we will have an issue in the
future about energy but for as of now it is not a huge problem. In my opinion, the pros outweigh the
cons on the sole fact that we have this resource at our disposal and we might as well take advantage of
what God has given us. From what I understand is that we are also reconstructing the landscape once
we are finished with the sites so the native species will be able to inhabit the area once

The Pros And Cons Of Bottled Water
Bottled water can do more harm than good, making tap water the best choice. What had I once
believed, that bottled water had a superior taste and smell than tap, was proven to be wrong in that
case. Is bottled water really better than tap water if there s not a distinct difference that appeals to our
senses and health? Bottled water is known to be harmful to our health, marine animal s health, and
even our planet s. Tap water is good for our environment and our bodies. It does not require the use of
big machinery and factories leaking fossil fuels into the atmosphere to enjoy. This is because tap water
is right at home. The untreated water is also rich in natural vitamins, such as vitamin C, a plentiful
amount of vitamin B s. It also contains bone strengthening minerals that include both calcium and
magnesium.
In contrast, plastic bottles used to hold drinking water contain dangerous materials such as Bisphenol
A and phthalates, which can cause harm to your body. Bisphenol A, similarly known as BPA, is a
harmful chemical that is used to make plastic hard and clear, also has been linked to several illnesses
such as cancer and premature labor. It is also said that BPA holds an estrogen like shape, making it
easier for the chemical to attach to and interact with other hormone receptors and alter its function.
Studies have furthermore shown that womankind that had BPA in their systems were 91% more likely
to give birth before completing their third trimester. Phthalates, which are also commonly used in
plastic production are also endocrine disrupting chemicals. They can be linked as being one of the
causes to reducing sperm count in males, abnormality and tumors, and etcetera. Not merely is it bad
for our bodies as humans but also for the animals that call our oceans, seas, lakes, and rivers their
home.
As numerous people may or may not recognize, not all of the plastic from bottles of water are
decomposable. Bottle tops and caps are not. As a result, making them easier and more likely to wind
up in the sea. This a major health hazard to marine life. Like many other plastic merchandises, and
contamination, the bottle tops get discovered and consumed by many sea creatures like sea turtles,

A Brief Note On The Country Of South Africa

of South Africa (SA), sharing 909km of borders with its land locking neighbor. The terrain is mostly

the totality of its land above 1000 meters. Arable land and permanent crops account for 10.27% of the

population can read and write at the age of fifteen thanks to Lesotho being the country that spends the

Managing Challenging Behaviors Within Classroom Management
Managing challenging behaviours in our classroom continues to be as one of the most challenging
problems in education today. Conte (1994, p.308) mentioned, If teachers, administrators, parents, and
students acknowledge that the lack of discipline is a serious concern and interferes with the teaching
learning process, one would think that steps would be taken to remedy the problem. Today s
classrooms are more complicated than in the past. Discipline is now known as classroom behaviour
management where new dimensions to classroom management are used with the inclusion, bilingual
classes, and students with disabilities.
Classroom management is necessary to maintain the positive behaviours and attitudes. A well
managed classroom can provide an amazing learning experience for all the involved students as their
behaviour can always affect this process. Classroom discipline plays a large part in today s educational
system. Many teachers feel powerless when dealing with discipline problems in their classrooms.
Canter (1997) discussed, in the past, only a look from a teacher to the students was enough to manage
and control the classroom. Then, because of the social and political eruptions of the late 60s and early
70s, the respect to any authority was dramatically declined. Therefore, it is important to find a
behaviour management approach that is suitable to the students of this generation.
My Philosophy as mentioned in part 1 is influenced by various behaviours theories.

Kneeling to the National Anthem On September 21st, Christine Brennan reported Colin Kaepernick s

Kaepernick, a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, refused to stand for the national anthem. He
clarified that he took this stance to point out what he sees as wrongdoings against African Americans
and different minorities, especially with regards to certain atrocities in police activities. Kaepernick
has stated he is showing support for the Black Lives Matter movement, which was sparked by a

added that this was much bigger than any game and that it would be selfish on his part to look away.
He also claims that there were bodies lying on the streets and people were getting away with murder. I

Crimes against Business
In crimes that are related to business, it s not always the employees of those businesses that that stray
away from their morals, and greed overcomes their judgment. On May 19th 2014, a Brooklyn, N.Y.,
man was sentenced to state prison for orchestrating a bank fraud system with at least two defendants.
The defendants in this case were found to be impersonating people to whom are holders of legitimate
business bank accounts. In their scheme, they were able to steal more than half a million dollars. The
New York authorities sentenced Nurlin Wright, the 35 year old Brooklyn, NY and two other
defendants to racketeering and conspiracy. Racketeering as a federal crime may come with some very
hefty penalties, and especially used in major organized crimes cases. Racketeering is the federal crime
of conspiring to organize to commit crimes, especially on an ongoing basis as part of an organized
crime operation. The Acting Attorney, General Hoffman said in this article, This was a huge bank
fraud scheme in which the defendants attempted to use the casinos to launder the stolen funds. This

Norway Treats Its Citizens Better Than The U.s. America
Paper Title
Thesis: Norway treats its citizens better than the U.S.
America, a compilation of 50 states expanding about 2,680 miles from East to West. Moving far to the
East we can meet the big apple, the American dream, New York. Its gray stone buildings towering
high above all underfoot, its inner streets lined with large screens as colorful images belonging to
several different adds dash across them, some bright neon swirls wriggling across the screen as an
invitation to try these new brightly colored hard candies, others of lanky, fair skinned women dressed
in the newest fashions while striking a pose. Moving to the coast, in New York s harbor, stands the
mighty green giant, Lady Liberty, holding her torch high in the air as if to ... Show more content on

If the communities of our people were so strong why would there be mass shootings and hate crimes?
If the government truly cared then why are so many people going without proper healthcare or without
homes or jobs? If America is truly great and free, then why are so many people within it, so very
unhappy?
Traveling across the sea, far to the North east, one could be introduced to the vast snow tipped
mountains and pristine blue lakes of Norway. A country famous for its beautiful forests, mountain ski
slopes, fjords, its friendly and accepting people, and beer. Here, in this, close to nature mountainous
country we find a peaceful alternative to America s bustling politics and war time issues. Despite their
chilly and snow encrusted habitat, the people of Norway are amongst the friendliest, warmest people
on Earth. Not only that but, their happy, truly happy, with their homes, their jobs, their communities,
and their government. So the question is, why? Why is a country ruled under a matriarch, compared to
America s superior democracy, flourishing so vividly while the citizens of America are groaning and
moaning about all the different inconveniences that their government has provided? There are many
factors that could contribute to this, such as the suck it up and get on with it Norwegian mentality, but
to be truthful, Norway just treats its citizens better than the U.S.A. Now most Americans would

Analysis Of The Poem The King Of Babylon
Have you ever wondered if you have a plan over your life or what your future holds?
It is important that we need to understand what the people of God were taught in the Old Testament
and what they went through. This can be taken and used in todays society and culture as we can look
at the New Testament and see the similarities of what they faced. In this essay I plan to show how the
people of Jerusalem learnt that God had a plan and a promise for them and that plan and promise is
still as relevant to them as to what it is to you and I today. Them
The people of Jerusalem are currently in exile in the land of Babylon, they were taken by
Nebuchadnezzar the King of Babylon. The book is written around 627 585 BC and is described as
being a book of oracles. The passage in question is a narrative inside the book describing the time in
which the people of Jerusalem were taken from their promised land . The feelings that would be felt
hearing For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm
you, plans to give you hope and a future. would bring a feeling of hope and that their promises will
become a reality. (Jer 29:14). When in the land of exile the feeling of being forsaken or having the
promise land taken away from them would lead them to doubt and lack their trust in God, so when
Jeremiah presents this letter, they can have a hope. They now have a future And I will bring you back
from your captivity. Jer 29:14 Jeremiah

The Operational Characteristics And Functionality Of A...
The operational characteristics and functionality of a variable speed pump compared to a centrifugal
pump. Sultan aljulaud Instructor: Joseph P. Ruane ME323: Fluid Mechanics Laboratory 12 08 2015
Abstract Pumps and its functions are a necessity in industries and homes nowadays. Buildings and
lands with distinct topographical characteristics need pumps to provide water to users. The basic
function of a pump is to transfer liquid from a low pressure area to a higher one. Without the
application of a pump, it is impossible to move a liquid to a high pressure zone because of the force
that prevents the liquid to move. The old cliché goes that water, or liquid, seeks its own level. This can
only be countered by means of a pump. There are different types of pump that facilitate this operation.
In this paper, we are concerned with centrifugal pump and pumps applied with variable speed drive.
How it works and which one is more applicable, whether in homes or industries, is the aim of this
essay. A variable speed pump is operated by a circuit consisting of a rectifier that converts alternating
current (AC) to direct current (DC), and another circuit known as inverter circuit to transform the DC
into a different version of the AC. Then, the AC produced by the inverter controls the speed of an
electric motor. This is the operation of the variable frequency drive (VFD) which is also known as
variable speed drive (VSD). By controlling the speed of the centrifugal pump

My Desire For An Electric Guitar
Ever since I was younger I had this urge to play various instruments. No one in my family played an
instrument so there was no influence there for me. The only muse I had was from music and the
television shows that I watched. Moreover, from that influence I thought all the people who knows
how to play an instrument are remarkably nifty. The quality of sounds that the musicians are able to
produce made me feel like I was put into a trance. The intense passion that the musicians produced
gave me an itch to recreate the same feeling for myself to ignite something within me. Thus, the four
instruments that I have acquired over time, but haunts me from being left untouched for a prolonged
time.
Around the age of seven, my family and I went to the mall that included a music store. I would roam
all around the store to experiment with almost every instruments that were put on display. This led to
the first instrument that I got, which was an electric guitar. I would continually beg my mother for it,
promising that I will be the most exceptional child ever. Now I don t fully recall as to why I had a
desire for an electric guitar, but I do remember there was a time in my life that my brothers and I
wanted to form a band. Which was a ridiculous idea because neither of us knew how to play an
instrument or how to sing, so our band would have been a tremendous fiasco. I was ecstatic with the
new guitar I received that as soon as we came home I went berserk upon opening it. I even have

Specifically, studies were sought that indicated sole use of SWOT analysis or if SWOT was used in combination with other long range strategic planning tools. The authors next used affinity diagrams to group and classify the collected studies using summaries on index cards. Affinity diagrams are a popular text clustering technique used to categorize large number of seemingly disparate comments ([41] Dobrzynski, 2007; [106] Levesque and Walker, 2007; [132] Plain, 2007; [196] White et al. , 2002; [117] Mango, 2006). The affinity diagram methodology was chosen due to its importance as an interpretative, qualitative approach to research, allowing for investigation and emergence of multiple contextual variables or classification schemes. The objective of the methodology is to utilize the qualitative data for explanatory purposes and to generalize findings in support of theory based on a distillation of the various respondent comments. The clustering of issues into logical categories helps draw inferences from the data collected. Thus the goal is to better understand categories of service failures and identify the service failures that result in customer defection. The researchers summarized, grouped, and clustered the comments by key themes and focus areas. Through the iterative process, major classifications were identified ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The second phase, which was less political and more militarily based took place between 1815 and 1825, and ended with the triumph of the patriots. It was an an all out militarization of the war; Simón Bolívar, for example, was able to incorporate popular elements into his armies, such as the llaneros (plainsmen), who had previously been formidable enemies of the patriot enterprise, and actually had forced his early attempts at independence into the ground. There change of loyalty to him indicated his own changing in value and understanding that he would need to please more than the creole class. In Mexico, a different process took place, but it reflects the real politics that characterized this successful predominatly military phase: the Royalist commander Agustín de Iturbide assimilated conservative and progressive elements into an independent monarchy with him at its head. He did not last long, but he lasted long enough to ensure the transition from colonial to national Mexico. There are over billions of individuals across the globe who take part in the everyday rituals and practices of these two ethical practices. However, what s so intriguing about these religions is how incompatible they genuinely are. In Buddhism, its religious beliefs are centered around the teachings of Siddhartha Buddha. Through the works of Buddha, he was able to discover a way to put an end to the painful cycle of rebirth, death , and reincarnation. He learned that through extreme meditation and resentment from pleasures, you will be able to end your cycle of suffering by attaining Nirvana(enlightenment) But, in Christianity, it revolves around the teachings and miracles of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the anointed son of God who came down from heaven to redeem us of our sins. It was through his miraculous works that allowed us to be saved and have salvation in heaven with our heavenly father. In order to get to this spiritual kingdom, Christians believe that by following in the footsteps of Jesus, we will one day be righteously granted with the gift to live out the rest of our lives in eternal paradise with God himself. • 21. The Pros And Cons Of The American Civil War Railroads are not nearly as popular in the United States as they are in European countries. Prior to the American Civil War, railroads were a fairly new, and untried, invention. Compared to carriages and the other modes of transportation at the time, the railroad was far superior. Due to this superiority, they were used to transport soldiers, food, and supplies. A systemic railroad began to spread all across the nation, and both sides of the war used them to their advantage. The railroad construction started as soon as possible. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was founded in 1828 and its first section of rails was open in 1830. At its peak, The B O Railroad spread from the east coast all the way to the Illinois, and was over 5,550 miles long! In 1831, the state of Maryland granted the B O Railroad and charter to begin construction of a line connecting Maryland to Washington D.C. The south, which was mostly a society built on agriculture, was at a huge disadvantage when it came to railroads. Two thirds of all the railroads in the nation at the time were in the north. The southern states couldn t transport anything as easy as the north, and their income mostly relied on the exportation of their crops. Without this source of income, the Confederacy s economy was crippled. Arguably, railroads were the reason for the South s eventual defeat. By 1861, 22,000 miles of track had been laid in the Northern states and 9,500 miles in the South. In the south, there were cities that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But the juxtaposition is apt and appropriate in the sense that both the heroes of respective faculties are te best examples of the proverb, Men live in deeds not in years . John Keats lived for only twenty sic years. In his short span of life granted to him, he dived deep into the ocean of literature and gave many precious verses that are peculiar and unique. He left an everlasting imprint on the body of English literature by devoting his life to the service of English Literarure. He lived through many odds in life. Miseries dominated in his life. He died of tuberculosis. He stands no way less than the other poets, some were fortunate even to spend enough to a century. Likewise, Srinivasha Ramanujan lived only thirty three years. For him also, life was not a bed of roses trails and distributions became part and parcel of his life. But he remained engrossed in his mathematical passion notching up several milestones in his short life span. Even though he had lived for only thirty three years, he has contributed a lot ... The Framers pursued the Constitution to prevent the government that they had left behind, the Monarchy of England. After the failed Articles of Confederation, they needed a strong, balanced federal government. Leaving tyrannical England where leaders were not held accountable, disparaging towards natural rights, and lack of consent from the people it governs. The people are the basis for any power that the federal government preserves and must always protect those who empower them. The written Constitution they created was not to define the rights of the people, but to limit the powers the national government would hold over the people. The Constitution would create a National government that would create a strong federal government, while safeguarding the rights of the people, and conserving checks on power it holds. The framers did not believe in cataloging individual rights in the constitution. They believed it would be threatening to define the rights that the people hold. Alexander Hamilton specifically believed that the Constitution had no power to infringe on the natural rights that all people have. However, the Bill of Rights was created from a compromise and thus, created the first ten amendments to the Constitution. These rights listed protections from the National government. These rights have proven to be security against the federal governments use of an enumerated power that they might hold. It is important for this very reason to have a written Bill of Rights in the United States Constitution. It does not define what rights the people hold, it defines what the government is entrusted to protect: the people. There are many ways that water is polluted by humans, including pesticides and fertilizers from farming. Farmers use chemicals to help their crops grow better, but those chemicals are washed through the ground when precipitation comes, causing the levels of nitrate and phosphate to increase in the creek (Lenntech, 1998 2016). These chemicals allow for more algae to grow in the process of eutrophication (Lenntech, 1998 2016). When that algae dies, lots of dissolved oxygen is needed to form bacteria. The authors Levitt and Dubner compare in one chapter of Freakonomics the reason why drug dealers live with their moms. Therefore, I find that throughout this topic of discussion from Freakonomics, the author s use examples that help clarify the reader s curiosity to why such a question should be asked in the first place, and thus, setting the reader s mind to think about the following topics in the chapter. The second point I aim to prove, is the author s use of advertising and examples of misused surveys to prepare the reader for the chapter s topic. The evidence in this section is based on an example of Mitch Snyder, who was an advocate for homeless people, a Listerine advertising campaign, and the Atlanta Police Department s instantly cleaner image to prepare for the 1996 Olympic Games. All three of these examples leave the reader feeling like they have just wasted 15 minutes reading something that does not even pertain to the chapter s content. Some disadvantages to the oils sands are since the oil is so deep underground; the process of extraction is very carbon intense which creates more greenhouse gas. What had I once believed, that bottled water had a superior taste and smell than tap, was proven to be wrong in that case. Is bottled water really better than tap water if there s not a distinct difference that appeals to our senses and health? Bottled water is known to be harmful to our health, marine animal s health, and even our planet s. Tap water is good for our environment and our bodies. It does not require the use of big machinery and factories leaking fossil fuels into the atmosphere to enjoy. This is because tap water is right at home. The untreated water is also rich in natural vitamins, such as vitamin C, a plentiful amount of vitamin B s. It also contains bone strengthening minerals that include both calcium and magnesium. In contrast, plastic bottles used to hold drinking water contain dangerous materials such as Bisphenol A and phthalates, which can cause harm to your body. Bisphenol A, similarly known as BPA, is a harmful chemical that is used to make plastic hard and clear, also has been linked to several illnesses such as cancer and premature labor. It is also said that BPA holds an estrogen like shape, making it easier for the chemical to attach to and interact with other hormone receptors and alter its function. Studies have furthermore shown that womankind that had BPA in their systems were 91% more likely to give birth before completing their third trimester. Phthalates, which are also commonly used in plastic production are also endocrine disrupting chemicals. They can be linked as being one of the causes to reducing sperm count in males, abnormality and tumors, and etcetera. Not merely is it bad for our bodies as humans but also for the animals that call our oceans, seas, lakes, and rivers their home. As numerous people may or may not recognize, not all of the plastic from bottles of water are decomposable. Bottle tops and caps are not. • 42. Analysis Of The Poem The King Of Babylon Have you ever wondered if you have a plan over your life or what your future holds? It is important that we need to understand what the people of God were taught in the Old Testament and what they went through. This can be taken and used in todays society and culture as we can look at the New Testament and see the similarities of what they faced. In this essay I plan to show how the people of Jerusalem learnt that God had a plan and a promise for them and that plan and promise is still as relevant to them as to what it is to you and I today. Them The people of Jerusalem are currently in exile in the land of Babylon, they were taken by Nebuchadnezzar the King of Babylon. The book is written around 627 585 BC and is described as being a book of oracles. The passage in question is a narrative inside the book describing the time in which the people of Jerusalem were taken from their promised land . The feelings that would be felt hearing For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. would bring a feeling of hope and that their promises will become a reality. (Jer 29:14). When in the land of exile the feeling of being forsaken or having the promise land taken away from them would lead them to doubt and lack their trust in God, so when Jeremiah presents this letter, they can have a hope. They now have a future And I will bring you back from your captivity. Jer 29:14 Jeremiah ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Operational Characteristics And Functionality Of A... The operational characteristics and functionality of a variable speed pump compared to a centrifugal pump. Sultan aljulaud Instructor: Joseph P. Ruane ME323: Fluid Mechanics Laboratory 12 08 2015 Abstract Pumps and its functions are a necessity in industries and homes nowadays. Buildings and lands with distinct topographical characteristics need pumps to provide water to users. The basic function of a pump is to transfer liquid from a low pressure area to a higher one. Without the application of a pump, it is impossible to move a liquid to a high pressure zone because of the force that prevents the liquid to move. The old cliché goes that water, or liquid, seeks its own level. This can only be countered by means of a pump. There are different types of pump that facilitate this operation. In this paper, we are concerned with centrifugal pump and pumps applied with variable speed drive. How it works and which one is more applicable, whether in homes or industries, is the aim of this essay. A variable speed pump is operated by a circuit consisting of a rectifier that converts alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC), and another circuit known as inverter circuit to transform the DC into a different version of the AC. Then, the AC produced by the inverter controls the speed of an electric motor. This is the operation of the variable frequency drive (VFD) which is also known as variable speed drive (VSD). By controlling the speed of the centrifugal pump ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. My Desire For An Electric Guitar Ever since I was younger I had this urge to play various instruments. No one in my family played an instrument so there was no influence there for me. The only muse I had was from music and the television shows that I watched. Moreover, from that influence I thought all the people who knows how to play an instrument are remarkably nifty. The quality of sounds that the musicians are able to produce made me feel like I was put into a trance. The intense passion that the musicians produced gave me an itch to recreate the same feeling for myself to ignite something within me. Thus, the four instruments that I have acquired over time, but haunts me from being left untouched for a prolonged time. Around the age of seven, my family and I went to the mall that included a music store. I would roam all around the store to experiment with almost every instruments that were put on display. This led to the first instrument that I got, which was an electric guitar. I would continually beg my mother for it, promising that I will be the most exceptional child ever. Now I don t fully recall as to why I had a desire for an electric guitar, but I do remember there was a time in my life that my brothers and I wanted to form a band. Which was a ridiculous idea because neither of us knew how to play an instrument or how to sing, so our band would have been a tremendous fiasco. I was ecstatic with the new guitar I received that as soon as we came home I went berserk upon opening it. I even have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
