Essay on Theories of Personality
Introversion has the greatest chance of negatively affecting SLA. Students that are afraid of
embarrassing themselves by speaking incorrectly or by not being able to speak at all may try to
avoid opportunities that would otherwise aid their learning (Zhang, 2008). Since 1960, personality
has emerged as major field of specialization among doctoral candidates (Vance Macphail, 1964).
Many investigations have been accomplished followed by literature on a variety of theories of
personality. The importance on individual differences and distinctiveness of the individual are the
most frequent features of the study of personality. There is a guarantee that each person s profile is
different from that of another person and thus, each person... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The study can merely be called systematic and scientific when it concerned unbiased observations
that are quantified so that systematic analyses can be performed (Allen, 1990). Dworkin and
Kihlstrom (1978) underlined that the prediction of behavior will be improved by the use of
personality tests. In line with this, many personality inventories with certain extent of reliability
and validity have been developed to aid in the study of personality.
There are essentially two forms of personality tests that can be found in the literature. One of it is
named projective test, allowing an extensive variety of freedom in making response, whereby the
test items are more unstructured, vague or open ended. Example of this is the Rorscharch
Technique (1951). In the meantime another form of test is called the objective test. Objective tests
are extremely structured paper and pencil questionnaires such as true/false or multiple choices,
each of which can be scored with a key. Sidek personality Inventory is one case of an objective
test. As objective tests are highly structured and scientific, they are higher in validity and reliability
compared to projective tests.
Allport (1936) was the first one who considered the conception of traits as the origin of his theory of
personality. Nevertheless, different psychologists have developed different list of essential traits
and different measurement

Natural Monopoly Supplies All for a Lower Price
atural monopoly is a type of monopoly that was because of high fixed or set up cost of operating
a business in an industry. And governments often regulate those in operation, to make sure that
every consumer can get a fair deal. In fact, the size of production that can achieve productive
efficiency may be a high proportion of the total demand of the products in the industry. Natural
monopolies are often associated with industries sector where there is a high ratio of fixed to
variable costs. For example, for a product to establish a national distribution network the fixed
cost can be enormous but the marginal cost of each additional output supply can be very small.
Natural monopoly occurs when one large business can supply the entire market at a lower price
than two or more smaller ones, which there cannot be more than one efficient provider of a
good. In this situation, competition might increase costs and prices. It is an industry where the
minimum efficient scale is a large share of total market demand such there is room for only one
firm to fully exploit all of the available internal economies of scale, and the industry has long run
average cost curve falls continuously as output rises. Market failure is when resources cannot be
efficiently allocated due to the fault of price mechanism caused by factors such as establishment
of monopolies. It s also used to describe when market can t satisfy public interest, and will result of
a loss of economic and social welfare.

Examples Of The Affiliate Model
2.4.4.4. The Affiliate Model
This model consists in selling product(s) or service(s) not created by the company, generating
revenue through a commission. To give some examples to understand how the model works:
Airbnb the company which connects customers and providers of places in different cities
worldwide, doesn t sell any product or service, their business consists in connecting people and
getting a commission for the usage of their website to enable this relation. Skyscanner gives the
customer multiple options to book an airplane ticket from different Airlines, so basically they don t
have an own product/service although they do work based on commissions with the airlines to
promote and display their ticket prices for specific destinations.
The idea would be to charge a commission value for each sale (cost per acquisition), as a broker (as
Ebay does) or charge per click (as Skyscanner does). When the cost per acquisition is used, the
company charges when a user buys directly following the advertisement place in the webpage, at
the same time pay per click charges the company each time a potential ... Show more content on

The app store application model
The idea behind the app store application model is to offer content exclusively for smartphones
and tablets, this content is commonly known as an application (App). The news are filled with
successful cases of this model application like the artillery combat game developed by Ethan
Nicholas, which gathered $600.000 in one month making its way to the first place in the ranking in
the App Store. Other companies had become rich with the app model leading to a digital boom in
the related industry. (Rickman, 2012).
Although most of the apps are usually associated with games, the apps world offers a wide
variety of apps that suit several different functions, like the particular example of the app created
by the Japanese company Sea s Garden which is able to keep mosquitoes away with a produced
high frequency sound. (Rickman,

Fifteen By William Stafford Analysis
Fifteen, by William Stafford is a free verse poem about age. In the poem he talks about being a
fifteen year old boy in which he refers to himself as South on the ridge on Seventeenth (Stafford
Line 1). Where he means that he is not yet seventeen, but he is almost there. He was taking a
walk one day during the summer when he came across a motorcycle with the engine still running.
He picks up the motorcycle and observed it with much awe. He was very fond of the motorcycle,
he admired it very much. He imagined taking off on the motorcycle, then in the grass next to him,
he saw the owner of the motorcycle. But instead of taking off on the motorcycle he helped the
owner up, then realizing that he was in a motorcycle crash. The owner greeted... Show more content

Stafford s idea was very vivid. It started out in the first line of the poem. South of the bridge of
Seventeenth (Stafford Line 1), which I stated previously. He described where he was on the
roads, while also making a play on words by describing his age stance. He is a fifteen year old
boy, as many can tell by the name of the poem. He farther asserted his idea with this initial
opening line, stating that he is under seventeen years old, but he is close to crossing the bridge
to being seventeen. Following after, more into the poem he talks about discovering a
motorcycle on the side of the road with the engine still running. He grabs the motorcycle and
grasps the handles as if he is about to take off. I admired all that pulsing gleam, the shiny flanks,
the demure headlights fringed where it lay (Stafford Line 6 8). He became particularly attracted
to the motorcycle, as if it were an actual human, like a friend. The overall theme clarify s the
aging process, he is fifteen, but closer to seventeen. Every event in the poem shows his still
younger, naive side. The naive feelings comply to the fact that he is only fifteen. The line I was
fifteen was repeated several times to push the theme into the readers

Analysis Of Master Grimke In The Novel The Invention Of...
In the novel The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd, Master Grimke is given two different
poses on the take of the laws in Charleston, each are seen when he is put under different
circumstances of public view and private view. In private he seems to sympathize with the
female population and the slave laws whereas in public he concedes to the idea of anything that
goes against the laws and social standards that he abides to. Master Grimke might have been
viewed as a man that only lived by the laws and social standards of Charleston, but in private he
allows his daughter, young Sarah Grimke, to have extra lessons and the permission to read
advanced books even though in those days women were not permitted to have the same level of
education as men. He found Sarah to be remarkable and even orchestrated a debate between
Sarah and her older brother, Thomas, which lead to Sarah wanting to follow in her father s path to

that Sarah had been teaching her slave girl, Handful, how to read and write. He takes away
Sarah s privilege of her extra lessons and advanced books as punishment, to which he says, I ve

Failure Definition Essay
Success is something that is earned, not given. It s setting a goal for yourself and not letting
failure try and stop you. Failure is a hard lesson to learn, but it teaches us not to give up and to
keep trying. Failure is part of the journey to success. Downs happen so the ups can follow.
Failure just makes us work harder for what we want. The most rewarding thing is overcoming
the obstacles and reaching full potential. Bella Throne was like any other kid her age, excited to

time with the Wolves his teams have never sniffed the playoffs, and for the most part the

During some points, this season the Timberwolves were in games until the end. Let s chalk it up to
inexperience. How tough is it to play for such a young team?
We have to bring it every night. It seems like we er playing in the second half we re just giving
up leads. We just have to figure out how to play more aggressive with the will to win.
A lot of times I noticed some of the young players rushed their shots at crucial points of the game.
As one of the teams most tenured players are there anything you can do to kind of settle the young
players down?
Sometimes when we see when we re down by five or so we ll take a quick three, instead of a
two. We have to keep pushing, and control the tempo of the game. It s easy to talk about it now. It
hard to do it when you re out there on the court but that s when veterans come in.
Once some of the young guys get a few years in the league under their belt. I think they won t
make some errors that they make now. It s part of growing up. Do you think once they get older
they ll start to slow down?
I mean with experience you learn how to play close games, but like I said you need the will to win,
and play more

Lastly, I was involved with drafting and editing of engineering drawings. This is needed and
essential in almost all engineering sector to communicates ideas and all needed information from
the engineer to the manufacturer. Another important item would be the Engineering orders (EO),
which are used for changes in components, assemblies, or documents such as processes and work
instructions.
I started out with doing EO. As mentioned before, while assembling and inspecting, some
mistakes could be found and were corrected. As such, I had to do an EO for a few components.
Being new, I had the help from the staffs here, especially on the required standards on the EO.
Through this, I learnt of the importance of tolerance, projection view and the decimal places. The
same applied for engineering drawing.

Om Sokdae Characters
To some extent, a person who holds a vast majority of exceptional traits can be classified as the
simple word, hero. A hero requires an abundance of personality, life experience, and achievements.
Heroic people can be found everywhere, everyday. It is only a matter of interpretation to see if that
one particular person is worth the title. I suppose that there can be different types of heros, either in
fantasy or reality. In the novel, Our Twisted Heroby Yi Munyol, that one particular person to be
interpreted prevails a twisted hero. A twisted hero is more or less a hero who represents power,
feeling, and contains the intrepidity of a leader. He is Om Sokdae, a person who is thought to

Han, the main character of the novel, is a grown man recalling his 5th and part of 6th grade class,
where Sokdae held power. Han wondered what made him so substantial. In the United States,
when a child goes to elementary school, she encounters other children who think that they are
better than everyone else just because their teacher always chooses them to volunteer or
compliments their outfit. When I was in the 5th grade, there was a girl who stopped being my
friend because I let my actions speak louder than my words and joined another group, one that
held all of the popularity. I thought I belonged because of the outfit choices I made and
endearment I got from adults. My mind never brooded over what I had done because the power
and new personality I thought I had took over and I was left with uncontained superiority. The
idea of an event like this happening in elementary school is not absurd because it provides
understanding of social stratification in the world outside of the soul. So in the novel, Sokdae s
rank situation should not be declined, for it is an insight of social stratification and almost defines a

Analysis Of Dances With Wolves And Unforgiven
According to the film critic, Phillip French, The Western has always been about America rewriting
and reinterpreting her own past, if this is indeed the case, then the two most popular Westerns of the
early 1990s reveal that many Americans had rejected the traditional interpretation of the Old West.
The critically and commercially successful, Dances with Wolves and Unforgiven, repudiated the
patriotic frontier myth that had characterised the Western when it was the preeminent genre in
American cinema. Informed by new Western historiography, itself an expression of political
concerns that had been moving into the American mainstream since the 1960s, the movies display
a complex and nuanced understanding of the frontier experience. Dances with Wolves rejected the
traditional narrative of the inherent superiority of the Anglo American hero conquering both Native
Americans and the wilderness, and also focused on the environmental destruction that accompanied
the ideology of Manifest Destiny. Unforgiven would similarly reject the frontier myth, replacing
the democratic, civilised frontier town, with a brutal regime in which white men s property rights
prevail over any sense of justice. The film is noted for its self reflexive nature, with a writer
documenting and embellishing the tales of the Old West before the viewer s eyes. This self
reflexion indicates that Americans were re evaluating the myths of the frontier, and seeing them for
what they were, creations by the

Argumentative Essay On Virtual Reality
Technology: a broad term that can define anything that aids human s ability to complete tasks or
increase an individual s quality of life. While technology is commonly thought of in a digital sense,
it can be much more than that. All technology, however, has a potential to impact society in some
way, whether significant or minuscule. It can affect many different tracts of our cultures around the
world such as medicine, government, agriculture, science, business, and education. Education could
be the most powerful, however, because of the weight it holds to mold the future generations and
how they will impact all other areas of our economy.
Virtual reality(VR) is a relatively new frontier in the technology industry. So new in fact, that, at
its current stage, what it is and its potentials are unfamiliar to the general public. VR originally
started gaining momentum as a new platform to game on, but its potential must be analyzed
broadly in more than just one vocation. Because of the immersion VR provides, it has an
immense capacity to benefit the educational field. Everyone is unique in the way they learn best;
some people learn best by reading, some people learn audibly better, and, some people learn
visually. This paper will analyze virtual reality to explain what VR is and any drawbacks it may
have, how and how much it is being used in education currently, how it is benefiting disabled
learners, who are able to have access to it, and what a future with VR may look like.

Literary Analysis Of The Cathedral By Raymond Carver

Literary Analysis of the Cathedral by Raymond Carver
Carver is well known for his short stories and poetries. Among his works, Cathedral is considered
one of the best, favorite, and most optimistic and the most developed. Carver s story revolves
around the theme of seeing and looking. Most people believed they could not live without
cathedrals which brought them closer to their God. Similarly, people place so much importance to
the physical eyesight and tend to think they can hardly live without it. Robert, a blind man, is
invited to the narrator s home and the narrator is shown troubled by Roberts s disability. Later on,
the narrator is amazed to see the blind smoking despite having even thought of helping him with
his drink earlier on (Carver 516 524). The latter brought to attention that as much as natural
looking is essential, more essential is the ability to see or to visualize things. The writer explains
that it might be tougher to be without eyesight; however, it is possible to live without it and make
the best of what else one has, more so the brain. Visualizing brings out a better view of the
significance of life and things surrounding us.
The cathedral is used symbolically to represent the gradual shift in Caver s sensibility. It
symbolically signals the movement towards hope from horror in ambiguity. Despair and
equilibrium redemption replace Emotional tumult. On the other side, Carver s story is

American Cultural Values
When discussing America and its pervasive issue with crime, it is important to note the cultural
values that not only make America but also break it in terms of encouraging criminality and
objectivity of crimes. Furthermore, there are three major cultural values that are held most dear to
the American public: freedom, success, and individualism.
To begin, freedom is at the core of the American culture. In America, freedom can be defined as the
notion that, individuals are guaranteed rights and that those rights can be expanded by the
constitution at any time if needed (Burfeind Westermann, 1991). While in some aspects this
cultural value has led to great advances in individual rights that may not be seen in other nations,
it has some down sides that cause a strain on the American society. For example, because many
individuals value freedom and in particular personal freedom, there is often a disconnect between
their definition and reality of freedom, the governments definition, and of course others. This type
of disconnect and road to eventual criminality can best be represented when discussing one of the
major political discussions to date, Marriage Equality. Some American laws that have passed and
were enforced were unconstitutional at the very nature of their disallowance of American equality
for all and citizens who knew of this used their individual freedom to break this law by practice of
civil disobedience. However, since different sections of American s have

Anti Catholic Beliefs In America
From being the main religion of the entire Roman Empire to its followers being exiled in the early
Puritan settlements, Catholicism and those who follow it are considered a minority in the
American society. The Puritan religion was the first religious group in the colonies to be actively
anti Catholic. America gained religious tolerance after the American Revolution, but state laws
varied on the practice of religion. The Puritan belief system stayed prevalent throughout the
centuries, influencing anti Catholic groups. Anti Catholic sentiment arises in pop culture because
of the misinterpretation in the Church s doctrine in that it never changes while our society does.

Despite the age of these systems, the Catholic Church continues to operate close to them, similar to
when they were adopted. The misunderstanding and prejudice towards these systems cause many
people to adopt anti Catholic beliefs for contemporary issues in America. The democratic political
system in America clashes with the hierarchical lineage that the Catholic Church possesses. The
problem arises when anti Catholics claim that Catholics are un American because they follow a
hierarchy, rather than the American system of democracy. The democratic system allows the
people to vote for their leader to govern them, however, the Catholic leader, the Pope, is not chosen
by the people of the Catholic Church. Un American criticism continues with the debates and
movements on Sexism and Feminism. As women s roles are changed, the Catholic Church is
keeping true to its origins by keeping the governing body, the priesthood, bishops, Cardinals, and
the Pope, a completely male role. The Church is criticized by many as being sexist and by that, un
American, for not allowing ordination for women. Many Americans / view the church s ban on
women s ordination largely in terms of democratic principles, or rights and representation (Martin).
Anti Catholics throw up these accusations of sexism without contemplating the true role of women
in the Catholic Church. Pope Francis said in an interview Look, in the Church women are more
important than men, because the church is a woman / The Church is the bride of Jesus Christ. And
the Madonna is more important that popes and bishops and priests (Ruiz). This governing structure,
as well as other beliefs of the Catholic Church, seem confusing or silly to post enlightenment ideas.
As human philosophy has developed after the Enlightenment, the Church has kept the doctrine the
same. This has not caused the anti Catholic community to criticize

The Three Types of Annoying Shoppers
Tires squeal across the hot asphalt; exhaust fumes fill the air. Innocent shoppers leap to safety as
cars circle the neighborhood grocery store lot in search of the ideal parking spot. Engines revving.
Adrenaline rushing. The driver s sole mission is to obtain a white lined rectangle of pavement

shoppers should be aware of the distinct character traits of the three annoying types of shoppers:

Compare And Contrast Toddlers And Teenagers
Toddlers and teenagers, when it comes to these two there are both similarities and differences.
They both are similar because they need structure, their moody and emotions, they strive for
independence, and they are always taking risks. There are also some differences between the two
because of the way you have to communicate with them, discipline, and how much attention is
needed to each one. When it comes to the two, all of these differences contribute to ho they grow
up. Each child is different in their own way, and so are the technics of how you interact with them.
Toddlers and teenagers can be so moody and emotional. The reason for this is because toddlers are
still growing, and so is their brain. They can t express how they feel therefore they react in the only
way they know how and that is through emotion. They rely on emotion to communicate. If they are
tired, hungry, sick, and or possibly need to be changed they cry, or become extremely cranky.
Teenagers are moody and emotional because they are going through so much change. Their
hormones are going crazy and they are also in school with a lot of other kids and they tend to act
like the people they are around. They are moody sometimes for no reason.
Independence is what both want. Toddlers strive to do things on their own even though they cannot.
They want to brush their teeth, get dressed, or walk to class alone. Teenagers want independent,
because they are at the age where they will eventually become a young

Middle East around 3000 BC, where art forms from the Ancient Middle East began to become
abundant in Europe. As artistic development was made, different cultures would adopt their own
forms of it and cause it to spread to most of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.

Louis Art Museum has over ten galleries full of European Art, I felt like I saw years of European

When I arrived at the museum, I was astonished at its external appearance before I even went in.
The three story building stood tall and mighty, and it seemed to have been made based off Ancient
Roman architectural techniques. As I entered the museum and found my way to the galleries of
European Art, I noticed that the museum was calm and bright, which I thought made the art stand
out more and conveyed a sense of liveliness. The first picture that stood out at me as I strolled
through the galleries was Vineyards at Auvers by Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh. After Van Gogh
had spent two years in France, he had moved to the village of Auvers, slightly north of Paris in
around May 1890. While he was there, he produced seventy paintings, one of which was

It could be argued that managers follow up for benefit of the owner, for instance in an

Henri Fayol (1841 1925) was the first father of management and was an overseeing executive for a

Hair Fibers
The word hair usually refers to two distinct structures:
the part beneath the skin, called the hair follicle or when pulled from the skin, called the bulb.
This organ is located in the dermis and maintains stem cells, which not only re grow the hair after
it falls out, but also are recruited to regrow skin after a wound.[2] the shaft, which is the hard
filamentous part that extends above the skin surface. A cross section of the hairshaft may be divided
roughly into three zones.
Hair fibers have a structure consisting of several layers, starting from the outside:
the cuticle, which consists of several layers of flat, thin cells laid out overlapping one another as
roof shingles, the cortex, which contains the keratin bundles in cell structures that remain roughly

The cortex contains melanin, which colors the fiber based on the number, distribution and types
of melanin granules. The shape of the follicle determines the shape of the cortex, and the shape
of the fiber is related to how straight or curly the hair is. People with straight hair have round
hair fibers. Oval and irregularly shaped fibers are generally more wavy or even curly. The
cuticle is the outer covering. Its complex structure slides as the hair swells and is covered with a
single molecular layer of lipid that makes the hair repel water.[4] The diameter of human hair
varies from .017 to .18 millimeters (0.00067 to 0.00709 in).[6] There are two million small, tubular
glands and sweat glands that produce watery fluids that cool the body by evaporation. The glands at

Morning Routine Beep, beep, beep. Once I have heard that for the third time I finally drag myself
out of bed, and when I do, there is a flurry of events that happen before I get myself to school. The
events that take place on a day to day basis are showering, getting dressed, fixing my hair, eating
breakfast, doing leftover homework, and brushing my teeth. Mentioned above, the first thing I do
after getting out of bed is take a shower. The right way to take a shower is with lukewarm or cold
water because scalding water is bad for your skin and it also hurts. After I ve gotten in the
shower, I wet my hair down, and then get a quarter sized amount of shampoo. From there, I
lightly rub my hands together for five seconds; then, I gently scrub my scalp with shampoo
covered hands. After I completely cover my entire scalp in the shampoo lather, I tilt my head

sized amount of conditioner onto my hands. Then, I spread the conditioner evenly in both of my

The Marxist Formula in Emecheta s The Joys of Motherhood
Marx states that we are truly free only when [people] place themselves in a position to control their
own historical destiny (Slaughter 25).
Britain s imperial colonization of Africa triggered vast change within the tribal civilizations thriving
on the continent prior to European occupation. For the Africans, these changes altered every level
of their culture: language, religion, as well as ancient tribal customs. But one of the most
devastating aspects of the British colonization in Africa was the European economic system:
capitalism. Capitalism left many Africans reeling from its destructive impact on tribal economies.

Emecheta criticizes European colonialism using three approaches: (1) capitalism s separation of
worker and her/his product, (2) capitalism s use of organized religion to reinforce the dominant
economic paradigm, and (3) Britain s conscription of Africans into military service for the colonial
state during the Second World War. Emecheta reveals the exploitative and destructive power of
capitalism by creating characters who sacrifice their identities and their culture to survive under a
colonial system; and the only way to survive within the imperialistic structure is to excel within the
capitalist organization. To accurately examine the oppressed nature of the female characters in The
Joys of Motherhood, however, we must first briefly examine their tribal culture. It is also necessary
to define Ibo culture in economic terms so that we have a benchmark against which to compare
changes that occur within the characters as they move into the capitalist system.
The Ibo tribal system that forms and influences the characters in The Joys of Motherhood is by no
means free from the authorГs criticism. The traditional tribal structure from which Nnu Ego and the
other characters emerge is a rigid hierarchical, patriarchal culture; and Emecheta clearly sees the
hypocrisy in criticizing the British paradigm without first

When it comes to corruption in politics, no one is immune. Both parties have had their share.
Not too long ago three members of Congress who are Republican were indicted due to political

Comparing Kinetian Devil And Visigoth
The Tasmanian Devil is a vicious creature. The Tasmanian Devil and the Visigoths are similar in
personality and actions, desperate to reach their desires, and they both lack subtlety and depth in
their language.
Tasmanian Devil represents the personality and actions of a Visigoths. Visigoths are marauders
ruthless and brutal. If something did not work out they will do anything wicked for their own
advantage. The Tasmanian Devilalso resembles that through his actions. He is ferocious, short
tempered and has an enormous appetite. He will go around scaring away all the forest animals and
destroying their homes for food.
The Tasmanian Devil represents Visigoths, they are both desperate to reach their desires. To a
Visigoth, the quest for knowledge is useless unless it can help you earn or to gain power over
other people. This is clear proof that Visigoths are blinded by their goal for only one thing,
power. Overall, this could play a huge factor in their down fall because having more knowledge
does not affect people negatively especially in the Dark Ages where knowledge was power. Just

Carole Boyce Davies discussion on Zora Neale Hurston s essay How It Feels to be Colored Me
she uses posits Hurston s proffering to travel piece of the way with visitors as a new way of
thinking about the periphery in academia . Beginning her chapter Coming to Terms with Theory,
Boyce expresses how outdated and inefficient the current theoretical practices have become. She
states that scholars are intellectually trapped by the hierarchical systems within scholarship. Her
main critique comes from the reality of upcoming scholars having to laboriously quote Euro
American male scholars in order to establish them within their field. Under this standard what we
find is that in the constant referencing of these European scholars the racial and cultural hierarchy
of western society is sustained. Boyce suggests that common favoring of European scholarly
contributions reinforces structural biases towards the consciousness of those in the periphery. As a
result, western epistemology continues to drive current scholarship through its standardization.
And, moreover, European theory is falsely applied to the estranged consciousnesses. The
standardization of European scholarship places limitations on how the marginal subject can
articulate its existence. Barbara Christian s The Race for Theory asks For whom are we doing
what we are doing when we do literary criticism? Davies would respond to this query by stating
that current scholarship is written to and for the center. Based

Marx s Theory On Class Conflict And Society Essay
Since the french and industrial revolution in 18 century, the world had come to a new era:
capitalist society. Capitalism represents a big step forward in human productive abilities
compared with previous forms of society. Along with the social development, there was a new
group of people who was called the sociologist who analyze and try to understand how this
society works. Marx was one of them and his ideas were influential. His theory mostly emphasis
on class conflict and the society from economic aspects. This essay will first analyze Marx s
theory in detail. Then I will explain how economy and social conflict related to Marx s theory
along with the role of these factors in the capitalist society.
Marx defined social class as the class which sets the scene and moves things forward. He
sometimes talked about there are only two classes: Bourgeoisie and proletariat, the class in itself
and the class for itself, sometimes talked about there are many numbers of classes such as
capitalist, working class and landowner. There is no simple unambiguous, and universally
accepted body of Marxist doctrine. As Bob Jessop said, the thoughts of Marx in his life time
were various and far ranging. In general, Marx refers bourgeoisies as capitalists and they are
major class in that period leading into industrialization. And he thinks the petty bourgeoisie as
middle classes who cannot see themselves as part of class, only as individual. The last one, the

Benefits Of Live And Virtual Domains Enhances Training
Air Force units and personnel need to train in a complex tactical, operational, and strategic level
environment, under all likely threat and weather conditions, emulating potential contingency
locations world wide, while integrating with composite, joint, and coalition partners. XX
Combining the unique benefits of live and virtual domains enhances training by increasing
opportunities to train with joint and multinational partners, enabling realistic combat scenarios, and
ensuring interoperability of systems. While live training exercises are limited by the number of
players available, through distributed LVC OT more players can be brought into training
scenarios. This expanded access to training events allows for a realistic blue forcelaydown for
readiness training that supports specific theater campaign plans and named operations. Rather
than relying on costly just in time live mission rehearsals, joint and combined forces tied together

The Internet Web On An Interruption And Disruption Model
The Internet Web 1.0 worked on an interruption/disruption model. For example, television
suddenly disrupts your scheduled programming to provide paid commercials from sponsors. In
today s world with Web 2.0, the current web environment is an interactive social system
(Solomon, 2015, Unit 1). People are constantly connected through their PCs, phones, and tablets.
They can connect their TVs to the Internet now for streaming video. Audio can be downloaded
through iTunes and other such platforms with the click of a button. Looking to the future,
wearable technology is becoming a trend. Fitbits can clip on your clothes or strap to you wrist
to track your activity for the day and give data for how many calories you should be consuming
based on that amount of exercise. Google has dabbled in wearable technology with Google Glass.
These glasses have a processor that can project your apps into the lens. Apple just debuted their
iWatch last week, which was reported as costing between about $400 and $17,000. People will pay
for this technology, which keeps them connected to their home, work, and social network at all
times.

Summary Of The Sunflower
An Analysis of The Sunflower The Holocaust was a genocide that occurred from 1933 1945, and
one of its survivors was Simon Wiesenthal. After he was set free from the concentration camp, he
dedicated his life to finding Nazi war criminals and persecuting them in court. Later on in his life,
he wrote a memoir, The Sunflower. It was about one of his many experiences at the Lemberg
concentration camp where he got roped into listening to a dying SS soldier, Karl. Right before
Wiesenthal left Karl s room, Karl asked Wiesenthal, on behalf of all the Jews he persecuted, for
forgiveness. Wiesenthal left Karl s room without forgiving him, and then asked his readers, What
would I have done? At the end of The Sunflower, people who Wiesenthal picked to respond to his
question, had their answers published. The most interesting response was Jose Hobday s.
Hobday believed that Wiesenthal should have forgiven to Karl because it would have given
Karl a sense of peace, making it easier for him to pass on. Hobday had the correct answer to
Wiesenthal s question because even though all of the Jews that Karl persecuted are dead and will
not be able to forgive him in person, Karl just wanted someone to know that he was sorry for his
actions. Jose Hobday was a Franciscan nun of Seneca, Iroquois, and Seminole descent. She wrote
about Catholic and Native American spirituality, and her writings appeared in many publications

The Last Battle Of The Civil War
Leadership through Redemption
In Nicholas Lemann s story Redemption: The Last Battle of the Civil War, it shows a theme of
leadership through the main character of the story, and Adelbert Ames effectively demonstrates the
required traits of a main character and a leader. The book focused on a lot of events that happened
in the Reconstruction era. It tells about both the political characteristics and the social
characteristics that are unraveled throughout the reformation of the South and giving the African
Americans the right to vote along with other political freedoms. Throughout the story, Adelbert
Ames successfully demonstrates the qualities of a great protagonist and a leader. Adelbert Ames
shows the theme of leadership and how his change in his ambition and morality would make him a
better leader in his life.
In the story, Adelbert Ames shows his great leadership and guidance. He was one of the great
leaders after the time of the Civil War. He was also a key contributor in the American Civil War
. He
was quoted as a beau ideal of a division leader (32). His great leadership was awarded with the
Medal of Honor, which is one of the highest medals in the army. He was known as a man who
would do anything for his people and he would go the distance to help them out. As told by the
story, he was a leader that also treated his soldiers right. This is seen in this quote: Although he
never permitted anything to stand in his way, and never asked men to go where he would

Diagnosis And Treatment Of Prostate Cancer
When we have diseases or don t feel well, we tend to seek treatments and try to cure it as soon as
possible. However, what if there is no reliable treatment or nearly no treatment available? Then,
the only option is to do research. Life can be really difficult and no one wants any sickness or
diagnosed with such a hard to cure disease like cancer. Prostate Canceris a known cancer that
happens to men only and a lot of men in the U.S are diagnosed with it, and happens to male s
reproductive system. Specifically speaking, it is a gland found in the most private area of a man.
In the following paragraphs, I will be explaining why we need to find a way to combat prostate
cancer, how to detect this cancer at early stages, and the risks associated with prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death by cancer for men in the U.S. It mostly
affects African American men than men of other races. In addition, those men who suffer from
prostate cancer would not know that they are affected until they participate in a health checkup
or conduct self diagnoses. A healthy prostate gland should be about the size of a walnut or
smaller depend on individuals. According, to a cancer research center stated about why men are
more likely to get cancer ... men were more likely to die from any of the cancers investigated in the
report, and ... were also more likely to develop the disease in the first place (Arney, 2009). Also,
men are more likely to die from any kind of cancer

The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Weapons Proliferation
Equally important to the safety standards forced upon nuclear engineers, is the prospect of nuclear
weapons proliferation as a byproduct of energy production. It has been a topic of debate since the
mid 1940s when the first nuclear bombs were being produced for war under the United States
Manhattan Project, and since then has received varied attention throughout the years. In its simplest
form, there is concern that the same technologies that are being used to produce nuclear power,
may also be able to allow access to nuclear weapons in the process. The Nuclear Threat Initiative
covers these issues, pointing explicitly to fuel enrichment and reprocessing as the most dangerous.
It is believed that high grade uranium (which is only used in laboratory... Show more content on

The Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT), for instance, is a well versed piece that covers these
risks. Within the treaty, enacted in 1970, each state subscribed is responsible for the disarmament,
nonproliferation, and peaceful uses of nuclear energy. The first Articles disavow any acceptance or
transfer of weapons between nuclear or non nuclear states, followed by Article III which mandates
safeguards that must be followed by all participating members. While maintaining the ability for
each state to conduct research on nuclear energy peacefully, the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty
ensures that each country signing (a total of 190 have signed), is monitored for the improper use of
nuclear energy within the country. This treaty was made in light of the truth of preventing nuclear
weapons proliferation, such that it requires the international cooperation and participation a
cooperation of industry, civility, and security to further the safety of nuclear energy for the public.
The countries possessing nuclear weapons during the treaty s conception (China, Russia, France,
the U.K. and the U.S), are all committed to the steady reduction of weapons stockpiles in their own
countries; all signing countries are not permitted to produce nuclear weapons

Pokemon and the Steel Industry
The steel industry is something that has been evolving and changing for the past 3 centuries in
which the braced metal has been around. As we come into the modern age of mining and metal
production we can find that there have been difficulties in the way of our resources are beginning
to run low, mining is dangerous, we may not have enough fuel to smelt ironin the next century, and
abrasive water cutters are not innovating since their introduction. In the recent wake of these events
an unlikely source has been uncovered to help aid these problems and that source is the math and
physics of pokemon. Pokemon is a franchise of turn based RPG games in which creatures with
many crazy features fight each other for glory. Over the years pokemon has been getting crazy with
what these creatures are based on and some designs and descriptions hold the key to remedying
these problems with the metal industry. Currently, the metal industry, while strong, has many
problems due to the shrinking of natural resources and lack of innovation. the mathematics of
pokemon could lead a revolution in steelproduction because Excadrill design could lead to a more
efficient drill, the heat given off by magmortar is enough to create a new smeltingand improve
process for stronger steel, and the amount of pressure that Blastoise s cannons would be forcing out
can make a already good tool even better.

An Exploration of Media and its Effects on Social...
Media is becoming an important aspect of today s society. Each and every day, people interact with
media of many differentforms. Media is commonly defined as being a channel of communication.
Our everyday lives are saturated by radio, television, newspapers, books, the Internet, movies,
recorded music, magazines, and more. In the twenty first century, we navigate through a vast mass
mediaenvironment unprecedented in human history. (Croteau and Hoynes, p. 3)This is also true
when we say media companies do not impose their own control upon the information being supplied
to media users. Since many people use media frequently, we can assume that it affects people.

Media has taken on an all new meaning to me from just taking this class. I feel truly that this is the
first class I can honestly say, I have learned something and grown because of what I have learned.
Media now is much more than the entertainment, news and advertisements I once thought it was.
We argue that the creators of media content have often reproduced the inequalities that exist in
society based on race, class, gender and sexual orientation. (Croteau and Hoynes, p.195) As a
society we are working our way toward a more equal society. As we know media is present in
many aspects of our lives therefore if they reinstating some of the widely known inequalities, thus
reinforcing these negative aspects of society. We are aware that the few media corporations that
are out there are owned but successful, white men. So when they choose the shows/music/movies
they want to produce these works, will include how they see the world. Thus the reinforcement of
inequalities present in our society. So when society evolves into a more accepting community
what happens to the media world? Creators of media products are often aware of this fact and use
entertainment media to comment on the real social world. (Croteau and Hoynes, p.97) Race refers
to the color/ethnic background of a person. There is no biological difference between an African
American and a Caucasian person,

Antipsychotic Therapy For Schizophrenia Essay
Medications used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia are often used when the individual is in a
state of psychosis. These medications are commonly antipsychotics, but can also include atypical
antipsychotics as well. Types of antipsychotics include phenothiazines, chlorpromazines,
butyrophenones, and thioxanthenes. Phenothiazines work by blocking dopaminereceptors in the
brain, preventing excess stimulation and thus reduced symptoms. All antipsychoticmedications do
help reduce positive symptoms, but none reduce negative symptoms. However, they also result in
many negative motor side effects. Atypical antipsychotics work by influencing serotonin receptors
and typically have less motor side effects than antipsychotics. Some of these medications include

Psychoanalytic therapists most involved in developing a treatment approach for this disorder are
Sullivan and Reichmann. They emphasize the trusting and open relationship the therapist and
patient should share. It introduces more methods of communication to the patient that are effective.
Also, recent therapy methods are reality based and more focused on the present than the past. There
is currently no evidence supporting this type of therapy. Social skills training focuses on enhancing
the individual s functioning and experiences in society. Thus the therapist may have the patient
practice how to interact with people when buying food, receiving medical care, etc. This treatment
may include positive reinforcement of skills that are useful for a fulfilling life in society as well as
modeling or role playing behaviors. This treatment is most effective in preventing the individual

Cross Langston Hughes
The poem Cross by Langston Hughes utilizes word choice, figurative language and literary
devices to add to and enforce its theme. Langston Hughes word choice in his poem Cross,
affects the theme of the poem. The title alone has many denotations that pertain to the story. For
example, the word cross can be defined as a crossbreed, or mix, a grouping the speaker can
easily fall under, due to their mixed heritage. It also can mean a problem or burden. This can be
applied to the speaker, because they have to deal with the problem, or burden of only half
belonging to the white or black races. A cross can mean a crossroad, or a decision that must be
made that can affect the rest of the decision maker s life. This is applicable to the poem... Show

Both of these things reinforce and add detail to the meaning of the poem. For instance, My old
man died in a fine big house./My ma died in a shack (9 10). These lines use symbolism in order
to show the difference between the speaker s parents. While their old man died in a fine big
house (9), which symbolizes that he was wealthy, their mother died in a shack (10). Symbolism
and imagery are used within the two lines to show that while the speaker s dad had a significant
amount of money, their mother was poor and had little to no money. The aforementioned lines
also use imagery, because they allow the reader to see both houses in their mind s eye. A fine
big house (9), makes one think of a mansion, while a shack (10) brings a small, run down home
to mind. These add to the gap between the parent s races, and help further display the dilemma
that the speaker is facing, in deciding, or figuring out, where they belong. In the final two lines
of the poem, the poet uses apostrophe to drive their point home. The speaker says: I wonder
where I m going to die, /Being neither white nor black? (11 12). The two lines are used in order
to show the speaker s dilemma in full, as well as displaying the speaker s desperation to fit in
somewhere. Figurative language and literary devices including apostrophe and symbolism allow
the poet to deepen

Being told by her own grandfather that she has something rotten in her (71), telling her father

the fate of misfortune, leading her to endless unhappiness. Glory believed she was bound to a

Cultural Studies On Race And Social Classes
In today s society, culture is impacting our everyday life, experience and social relations; we are
all categorized by our cultural groups , but this has changed rapidly throughout the years from one

the British academic scholars. The British scholars were able engaged cultural analysis and the

religious beliefs that sway society over they have and have not s. We come in contact every day
with cultural diversity in the workplace, schools and need to learn to not offend another person
based on their cultural group. Most people assume how a person is based on their appearances and
their race.
In today s society, people are closed minded, and do not take the opportunity getting to know the
other person because of stereotyping and racism. Even though we all have different opinions
toward other cultures, norms, beliefs and values we should all respect each other differences. We
should consider learning from one another and not judge a person based on their race, ethnicity,
gender and religion. As a society, it is very important; we educated ourselves in other cultures, even
though we all have different values and beliefs.
Cultural studies are influenced by the Marxist interpretation of society, but according to, Stuart Hall
believed that mass media has highlighted those people that are already in positions of power and
the media has exploited the poor keeping them powerless. Hall says that he describes mass media as

Early Church Fathers Attitudes Toward Women Essay
Chapter 6 Early Church Fathers Attitudes Toward Women Then, as the church became fused
with the secular, misogynistic society of Rome, Christ s attitude toward women and the
doctrine of equality were purposely forgotten, 21, 34 Following are only a few of the mean
spirited quotes made by the early church so called fathers and from modern preachers. This
researcher believes this kind of leadership has instigated erroneous beliefs about women and
their place in the Christian church. Furthermore, it has promoted discrimination against women
in general and female clergy in particular. Quotes are courtesy of John Wijngaards34 (2015) and

socialist, anti family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill

Gender Inequality in Hollywood Essay
Stereotypes in our society are not uncommon. We come across them every day without realizing
it. It is in our human nature to create expectations of the people around us, which could be based
upon their ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender or other factors. Stereotypes help us categorize a
vast group of people that we may not know anything about, to think that they are smaller and less
intimidating. I believe that the blame for these cookie cutter patterns can lead directly back to the
media in every sense of the word. Media is all around us, and affects our opinions and ability to
think for ourselves. Whether it s the latest box office hit or the headlining news, we are getting
assumptions from every point of view, which makes it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But the bias stereotypes are also expanded to men in the media as well.
A common action movie consists of a physically and mentally equipped male lead who often
saves himself and his attractive female supporting lead. The status quo for a man in Hollywood
is quite simple; strong and handsome. BBC: Culture wrote an article about the blandness in
actors these days. They said that men in the media are always set to play one specific role, and it
is hard to break out of that category that Hollywood has cast them as. For example, Daniel
Radcliffe will always be Harry Potter in the eyes of it s fans. Ryan Gosling will always play a
bad boy heartthrob, and is ostracized when he doesn t. The article says that these categories are
pushing young actors into divisions based on their looks, not necessarily their talents. This is also
known as type casting, or when an actor becomes known as only being able to play one role.

Female Marginality In The Catholic Church
As the society continues to strive for gender equality within the work force, there is neglect in one
specific component of culture: religion. Female marginality is very much prominent in the Catholic
Church. As women around the world strive to create a greater voice in corporation, there should
also be goals toward a greater feminine voice in Catholicism. Understanding femalerole in
Catholicism and analyzing prominent females in Catholicism enables women of the future to
develop a greater influence in the church. Women should seek for female advocacy in the Catholic
Church by examining female roles in Catholicism, exceptional women in Catholicism, and
traditions of Catholicism.
Understanding the definition of female marginality is important before being able to apply it to the
Catholic Church. Female marginality is defined as females who hold limited options or opinions on
any matter. Traditionally, women were defined as the caretaker of the household and children,
limiting women to domesticated duties while men held superiority in the work force. In the past,
men supported their families in terms of wealth while female roles were placed in occupations with

Canadian Tire s Current Data Warehouse
Overview of Canadian Tire s Current Data Warehouse Gathering requirements from end users was
an important step in resolving the issues that currently exist at Canadian Tire. Gathering
requirements for a data warehouse is not the same as defining the requirements for an operational
system (Ponniah, pg. 121). When you research and then develop any system, it is critical that the
system produces exactly what the users need to perform their specific tasks. CTC did not have this
production for their end users. These users typically do not understand the big picture workings of a
data warehousingprocess. Therefore, the help of a business analyst is critical. From the results
provided in the case study, we can agree that these requirements must be addressed:
Capacity constraints
User query times
Defined data model
Full enabling of access to enterprise data
Overview of Canadian Tire s Business Intelligence The current process for CTC to acquire BI is a
broken system. Much of the information derived, from the current data in the warehouse, was
done by FRAG, individual user groups and hired business analysts who extracted data and created
reports. This was creating a serious misallocation of resources and responsibilities throughout the
company. Shadow groups, created to complete some of the required BI tasks, were not only less
efficient than an organized strategy, but were also a security risk to CTC. With small groups taking
over the responsibility of creating BI, the

John Somer s Cue For The Assassination
Betrayal is common when somebody has more power than the other individual. Geoffrey Trease
did the title of the novel Cue for Treason justice and he kept the significance of it in many ways.
First of all, the conspirators and villagers of England did not like the changes that Queen Elizabeth
I was making and they started turning against her. Secondly, the treason is that Sir Philip Morton
and other conspirators are planning to overthrow the government. Lastly, the cue for the
assassination was very well planned out by the ruthless landlord as well as the other men involved.
To begin, the conspirators and people who live in England do not like the changes that the Queen

John Somers was to be the chosen assassin to do the deed of murdering the Queen. This is odd
considering that he had been a member of the acting troupe and he is a known conspirator but he
has never, ever been an assassin. Additionally, The cue for the assassination was missed. John
Somers was waiting backstage for his cue but it was never heard and he got taken away by the
guardians of the Queen. Peter and Kit were relieved that their plan to get him caught worked.
They also knew that they would now have no problems with the law and Peter can return to his
home in Cumberland. From the hard work the protagonists put in and the risks they took for the
Queen s life would be worth it in order to save England. In conclusion, the author definitely proved
the importance of the title Cue for Treason in the novel. These are the following main reasons how
he proved the title in the book. First of all the inhabitants of England despised the adaptations that
the Queen made to their country, also the important men of the area prepared a superb plan to
dethrone royalty and the cue for the elimination was excellently organized. Once an individual
receives additional control over something more than other people, deception will

  • 2. Essay on Theories of Personality Introversion has the greatest chance of negatively affecting SLA. Students that are afraid of embarrassing themselves by speaking incorrectly or by not being able to speak at all may try to avoid opportunities that would otherwise aid their learning (Zhang, 2008). Since 1960, personality has emerged as major field of specialization among doctoral candidates (Vance Macphail, 1964). Many investigations have been accomplished followed by literature on a variety of theories of personality. The importance on individual differences and distinctiveness of the individual are the most frequent features of the study of personality. There is a guarantee that each person s profile is different from that of another person and thus, each person... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The study can merely be called systematic and scientific when it concerned unbiased observations that are quantified so that systematic analyses can be performed (Allen, 1990). Dworkin and Kihlstrom (1978) underlined that the prediction of behavior will be improved by the use of personality tests. In line with this, many personality inventories with certain extent of reliability and validity have been developed to aid in the study of personality. There are essentially two forms of personality tests that can be found in the literature. One of it is named projective test, allowing an extensive variety of freedom in making response, whereby the test items are more unstructured, vague or open ended. Example of this is the Rorscharch Technique (1951). In the meantime another form of test is called the objective test. Objective tests are extremely structured paper and pencil questionnaires such as true/false or multiple choices, each of which can be scored with a key. Sidek personality Inventory is one case of an objective test. As objective tests are highly structured and scientific, they are higher in validity and reliability compared to projective tests. Allport (1936) was the first one who considered the conception of traits as the origin of his theory of personality. Nevertheless, different psychologists have developed different list of essential traits and different measurement ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Natural Monopoly Supplies All for a Lower Price atural monopoly is a type of monopoly that was because of high fixed or set up cost of operating a business in an industry. And governments often regulate those in operation, to make sure that every consumer can get a fair deal. In fact, the size of production that can achieve productive efficiency may be a high proportion of the total demand of the products in the industry. Natural monopolies are often associated with industries sector where there is a high ratio of fixed to variable costs. For example, for a product to establish a national distribution network the fixed cost can be enormous but the marginal cost of each additional output supply can be very small. Natural monopoly occurs when one large business can supply the entire market at a lower price than two or more smaller ones, which there cannot be more than one efficient provider of a good. In this situation, competition might increase costs and prices. It is an industry where the minimum efficient scale is a large share of total market demand such there is room for only one firm to fully exploit all of the available internal economies of scale, and the industry has long run average cost curve falls continuously as output rises. Market failure is when resources cannot be efficiently allocated due to the fault of price mechanism caused by factors such as establishment of monopolies. It s also used to describe when market can t satisfy public interest, and will result of a loss of economic and social welfare. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Examples Of The Affiliate Model 2.4.4.4. The Affiliate Model This model consists in selling product(s) or service(s) not created by the company, generating revenue through a commission. To give some examples to understand how the model works: Airbnb the company which connects customers and providers of places in different cities worldwide, doesn t sell any product or service, their business consists in connecting people and getting a commission for the usage of their website to enable this relation. Skyscanner gives the customer multiple options to book an airplane ticket from different Airlines, so basically they don t have an own product/service although they do work based on commissions with the airlines to promote and display their ticket prices for specific destinations. The idea would be to charge a commission value for each sale (cost per acquisition), as a broker (as Ebay does) or charge per click (as Skyscanner does). When the cost per acquisition is used, the company charges when a user buys directly following the advertisement place in the webpage, at the same time pay per click charges the company each time a potential ... Other companies had become rich with the app model leading to a digital boom in the related industry. (Rickman, 2012). • 5. Fifteen By William Stafford Analysis Fifteen, by William Stafford is a free verse poem about age. In the poem he talks about being a fifteen year old boy in which he refers to himself as South on the ridge on Seventeenth (Stafford Line 1). Where he means that he is not yet seventeen, but he is almost there. He was taking a walk one day during the summer when he came across a motorcycle with the engine still running. He picks up the motorcycle and observed it with much awe. He was very fond of the motorcycle, he admired it very much. He imagined taking off on the motorcycle, then in the grass next to him, he saw the owner of the motorcycle. But instead of taking off on the motorcycle he helped the owner up, then realizing that he was in a motorcycle crash. The owner greeted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stafford s idea was very vivid. It started out in the first line of the poem. South of the bridge of Seventeenth (Stafford Line 1), which I stated previously. He described where he was on the roads, while also making a play on words by describing his age stance. He is a fifteen year old boy, as many can tell by the name of the poem. He farther asserted his idea with this initial opening line, stating that he is under seventeen years old, but he is close to crossing the bridge to being seventeen. Following after, more into the poem he talks about discovering a motorcycle on the side of the road with the engine still running. He grabs the motorcycle and grasps the handles as if he is about to take off. I admired all that pulsing gleam, the shiny flanks, the demure headlights fringed where it lay (Stafford Line 6 8). He became particularly attracted to the motorcycle, as if it were an actual human, like a friend. The overall theme clarify s the aging process, he is fifteen, but closer to seventeen. Every event in the poem shows his still younger, naive side. The naive feelings comply to the fact that he is only fifteen. The line I was fifteen was repeated several times to push the theme into the readers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the novel The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd, Master Grimke is given two different poses on the take of the laws in Charleston, each are seen when he is put under different circumstances of public view and private view. In private he seems to sympathize with the female population and the slave laws whereas in public he concedes to the idea of anything that goes against the laws and social standards that he abides to. Master Grimke might have been viewed as a man that only lived by the laws and social standards of Charleston, but in private he allows his daughter, young Sarah Grimke, to have extra lessons and the permission to read advanced books even though in those days women were not permitted to have the same level of education as men. He takes away Sarah s privilege of her extra lessons and advanced books as punishment, to which he says, I ve asked myself how you are able to disobey with such ease and disregard. Failure is a hard lesson to learn, but it teaches us not to give up and to keep trying. Failure is part of the journey to success. Downs happen so the ups can follow. Failure just makes us work harder for what we want. The most rewarding thing is overcoming the obstacles and reaching full potential. We just have to figure out how to play more aggressive with the will to win. A lot of times I noticed some of the young players rushed their shots at crucial points of the game. As one of the teams most tenured players are there anything you can do to kind of settle the young players down? Sometimes when we see when we re down by five or so we ll take a quick three, instead of a two. We have to keep pushing, and control the tempo of the game. It s easy to talk about it now. It hard to do it when you re out there on the court but that s when veterans come in. Once some of the young guys get a few years in the league under their belt. I think they won t make some errors that they make now. It s part of growing up. Do you think once they get older they ll start to slow down? I thought I belonged because of the outfit choices I made and endearment I got from adults. My mind never brooded over what I had done because the power and new personality I thought I had took over and I was left with uncontained superiority. • 11. Analysis Of Dances With Wolves And Unforgiven According to the film critic, Phillip French, The Western has always been about America rewriting and reinterpreting her own past, if this is indeed the case, then the two most popular Westerns of the early 1990s reveal that many Americans had rejected the traditional interpretation of the Old West. The critically and commercially successful, Dances with Wolves and Unforgiven, repudiated the patriotic frontier myth that had characterised the Western when it was the preeminent genre in American cinema. Informed by new Western historiography, itself an expression of political concerns that had been moving into the American mainstream since the 1960s, the movies display a complex and nuanced understanding of the frontier experience. Dances with Wolves rejected the traditional narrative of the inherent superiority of the Anglo American hero conquering both Native Americans and the wilderness, and also focused on the environmental destruction that accompanied the ideology of Manifest Destiny. Unforgiven would similarly reject the frontier myth, replacing the democratic, civilised frontier town, with a brutal regime in which white men s property rights prevail over any sense of justice. The film is noted for its self reflexive nature, with a writer documenting and embellishing the tales of the Old West before the viewer s eyes. This self reflexion indicates that Americans were re evaluating the myths of the frontier, and seeing them for what they were, creations by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Argumentative Essay On Virtual Reality Technology: a broad term that can define anything that aids human s ability to complete tasks or increase an individual s quality of life. While technology is commonly thought of in a digital sense, it can be much more than that. All technology, however, has a potential to impact society in some way, whether significant or minuscule. It can affect many different tracts of our cultures around the world such as medicine, government, agriculture, science, business, and education. Education could be the most powerful, however, because of the weight it holds to mold the future generations and how they will impact all other areas of our economy. Virtual reality(VR) is a relatively new frontier in the technology industry. So new in fact, that, at its current stage, what it is and its potentials are unfamiliar to the general public. VR originally started gaining momentum as a new platform to game on, but its potential must be analyzed broadly in more than just one vocation. Because of the immersion VR provides, it has an immense capacity to benefit the educational field. Everyone is unique in the way they learn best; some people learn best by reading, some people learn audibly better, and, some people learn visually. This paper will analyze virtual reality to explain what VR is and any drawbacks it may have, how and how much it is being used in education currently, how it is benefiting disabled learners, who are able to have access to it, and what a future with VR may look like. ... • 15. Literary Analysis Of The Cathedral By Raymond Carver Olga Castillo Professor Zink ENC 1102 01084 October 25, 2017 Literary Analysis of the Cathedral by Raymond Carver Carver is well known for his short stories and poetries. Among his works, Cathedral is considered one of the best, favorite, and most optimistic and the most developed. Carver s story revolves around the theme of seeing and looking. Most people believed they could not live without cathedrals which brought them closer to their God. Similarly, people place so much importance to the physical eyesight and tend to think they can hardly live without it. Robert, a blind man, is invited to the narrator s home and the narrator is shown troubled by Roberts s disability. Later on, the narrator is amazed to see the blind smoking despite having even thought of helping him with his drink earlier on (Carver 516 524). The latter brought to attention that as much as natural looking is essential, more essential is the ability to see or to visualize things. The writer explains that it might be tougher to be without eyesight; however, it is possible to live without it and make the best of what else one has, more so the brain. Visualizing brings out a better view of the significance of life and things surrounding us. The cathedral is used symbolically to represent the gradual shift in Caver s sensibility. It symbolically signals the movement towards hope from horror in ambiguity. Despair and equilibrium redemption replace Emotional tumult. On the other side, Carver s story is ... • 16. American Cultural Values When discussing America and its pervasive issue with crime, it is important to note the cultural values that not only make America but also break it in terms of encouraging criminality and objectivity of crimes. Furthermore, there are three major cultural values that are held most dear to the American public: freedom, success, and individualism. To begin, freedom is at the core of the American culture. In America, freedom can be defined as the notion that, individuals are guaranteed rights and that those rights can be expanded by the constitution at any time if needed (Burfeind Westermann, 1991). While in some aspects this cultural value has led to great advances in individual rights that may not be seen in other nations, it has some down sides that cause a strain on the American society. For example, because many individuals value freedom and in particular personal freedom, there is often a disconnect between their definition and reality of freedom, the governments definition, and of course others. This type of disconnect and road to eventual criminality can best be represented when discussing one of the major political discussions to date, Marriage Equality. Some American laws that have passed and were enforced were unconstitutional at the very nature of their disallowance of American equality for all and citizens who knew of this used their individual freedom to break this law by practice of civil disobedience. However, since different sections of American s have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The problem arises when anti Catholics claim that Catholics are un American because they follow a hierarchy, rather than the American system of democracy. The democratic system allows the people to vote for their leader to govern them, however, the Catholic leader, the Pope, is not chosen by the people of the Catholic Church. Un American criticism continues with the debates and movements on Sexism and Feminism. As women s roles are changed, the Catholic Church is keeping true to its origins by keeping the governing body, the priesthood, bishops, Cardinals, and the Pope, a completely male role. In Coates novel, Between the World and Me, he discusses his education through living in the world opposed to just reading about it. The knowledge you earn from experiencing is in my opinion way more worthwhile than the knowledgeyou receive from a classroom. So, what is the difference between the places you may learn? Tasmanian Devil represents the personality and actions of a Visigoths. Visigoths are marauders ruthless and brutal. If something did not work out they will do anything wicked for their own advantage. The Tasmanian Devilalso resembles that through his actions. He is ferocious, short tempered and has an enormous appetite. To a Visigoth, the quest for knowledge is useless unless it can help you earn or to gain power over other people. This is clear proof that Visigoths are blinded by their goal for only one thing, power. Caribbean American Women Carole Boyce Davies discussion on Zora Neale Hurston s essay How It Feels to be Colored Me she uses posits Hurston s proffering to travel piece of the way with visitors as a new way of thinking about the periphery in academia . Beginning her chapter Coming to Terms with Theory, Boyce expresses how outdated and inefficient the current theoretical practices have become. She states that scholars are intellectually trapped by the hierarchical systems within scholarship. Her main critique comes from the reality of upcoming scholars having to laboriously quote Euro American male scholars in order to establish them within their field. Under this standard what we find is that in the constant referencing of these European scholars the racial and cultural hierarchy of western society is sustained. Boyce suggests that common favoring of European scholarly contributions reinforces structural biases towards the consciousness of those in the periphery. As a result, western epistemology continues to drive current scholarship through its standardization. And, moreover, European theory is falsely applied to the estranged consciousnesses. The standardization of European scholarship places limitations on how the marginal subject can articulate its existence. He sometimes talked about there are only two classes: Bourgeoisie and proletariat, the class in itself and the class for itself, sometimes talked about there are many numbers of classes such as capitalist, working class and landowner. There is no simple unambiguous, and universally accepted body of Marxist doctrine. As Bob Jessop said, the thoughts of Marx in his life time were various and far ranging. In general, Marx refers bourgeoisies as capitalists and they are major class in that period leading into industrialization. And he thinks the petty bourgeoisie as middle classes who cannot see themselves as part of class, only as individual. The last one, the proletariat, was described by ... After he was set free from the concentration camp, he dedicated his life to finding Nazi war criminals and persecuting them in court. Later on in his life, he wrote a memoir, The Sunflower. It was about one of his many experiences at the Lemberg concentration camp where he got roped into listening to a dying SS soldier, Karl. Right before Wiesenthal left Karl s room, Karl asked Wiesenthal, on behalf of all the Jews he persecuted, for forgiveness. Wiesenthal left Karl s room without forgiving him, and then asked his readers, What would I have done? At the end of The Sunflower, people who Wiesenthal picked to respond to his question, had their answers published. The most interesting response was Jose Hobday s.
