Case Study Mercedes
Strategic Architecture:
Once the undisputed leader in the luxury car market, Mercedes Benz India (MBIL) is currently
facing stiff competition from its aggressive rivals BMW and Audi. Bernhard Kern, who recently
took over as the chief of MBIL, points out that it also reflects the absence of Mercedes cars in some
segments, unlike its peers. I have a very different picture (of the rankings) because in the saloon
and luxury SUVs, Mercedes is leading in India. We are not in some segments like smaller SUVs.
There are some gaps but we will close the gap, says Kern. The A class and diesel version of the B
class are part of MBIL s play against its peers at the lower part of the premium and luxury car
market.
Given the challenges and opportunities in India, 49 year old Kern, a 30 year Mercedes veteran,
has his task cut out. He plans to drive MBIL s next phase of growth based on four pillars: new
products, total cost of ownership, driving programmes and a robust network. These steps are being
planned to strengthen connect with existing customers, and rope in new ones, especially first time
buyers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Delta Air Lines: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
A company must have a clear vision for success in order to succeed: a realization of what has

The perception and expectations of the flight attendants was constantly changing. For years prior
to the civil rights movement, Delta imposed strict rules on the women to include prohibition of
children and marriage fearing such would interfere with work. As an added bonus, Delta used the
women s availability as a way to lure businessmen to fly with Delta to be able to pick up eligible
women (Whitelegg, 2011). According to one flight attendant, being associated with the airlines
turned out to be a happy hunting ground for marriage partners for lots of young men and women
with healthy hormones and honorable intentions (Whitelegg, 2005, p.16). Recognizing this, the
image of the flight attendants become provocative as their uniforms became less formal. However,
women still found their jobs were liberating because they were breaking the traditional model and
perception of women s place in society. Delta s corporate social responsibility was not questioned
because the social etiquette for young women during this time was to get married. According to
Nelson amp; Quick, ethical conduct at the individual level can translate into social responsibility at
the organizational level (p.60).

Alfred Hitchcock Identity And Identity
The greatest art in films is by the means of the ability to create an emotion in the viewers of the
film and by the means of and imagery. Alfred Hitchcock, for long time, has been a household name
since he began filmmaking. Hitchcock has been able to accumulate a well known and distinct
cinematic techniques making him stand out as one of the best filmmakers around the globe. What
makes Hitchcock s films must watch movies are how he draws his viewers emotion and leave
them in suspense (Maher 246). Hitchcock s The Birds is an American horror filmdropped in 1963.
The film is loosely based on the 1952 story of Daphne Du Maurierand focuses on a sudden series,
unexplained powerful and violent birds attacking the people of Bodega Bay (Maher 247). In this
movie, the fact that viewers do not get to know the details of the birds makes it an interesting but
a suspense film, which evokes thoughts of the audience to know much about the birds. On the
other hand, Identity, which was directed by James Mangold in 2003, revolves around the life of
ten people who seeks refuge in an isolated motel when a vicious storm breaks out in the desert of
Nevada (Falsafi, Khorashad, and Khorashad 2521). As they seek refuge, a serious murderer, Taylor
Vince awaits his execution for killing a group of motel guests. This paper, using terminology
resources and cinematic techniques, seeks to expatriate the similar technique styles adopted in the
two films to enhance suspense. The cinematic techniques

Jean-Jacques Rousseau s The State of War Essay
Jean Jacques Rousseau s The State of War
Jean Jacques Rousseau s The State of War elegantly raises a model for confederative peace among
the states of Europe, and then succinctly explains its impossibility. Rousseau very systematically
lays out the benefits of such a perpetual peace through arguments based only in a realism of pure
self interest, and then very elegantly and powerfully turns the inertia of the self interest machinery
against the same to explain why it can never come to be. However, this final step may be a bit
too far; in his academic zeal for the simple, I will argue that he has overlooked the real, or at least
ignored the possible. His conclusion may be appealingly reasoned, but it is still insupportable.

While refuting the possibility that this international state of nature is a Hobbesian war of all against
all [which would tend to the destruction of the species, an aim he finds both logically and
religiously untenable (114)], he certainly acknowledges that conflicts occur even among actors
whom we would call naturally virtuous В those seeking peace (112).
This contradiction is problematic because the boundaries between the civil and the natural, the
domestic and the international, overlap at times (112). For instance, war on the outside invariably
affects the civic order on the inside. Because of this contradiction, we are forced to bear the
burdens of supporting both orders separately, thus negating the advantages brought by either. We
are subject to the vagaries of the international system when it affects civil life, and yet as
individuals our hands are tied and we are unable to enjoy natural freedom ourselves because we
are also subject to the authority, at times oppressive, of the civil domestic structures (which, as we
have seen, fail to protect us from all international affects) (112). Even a state that hopes for the
status quo can t count on it В because other states won t allow it to remain (114). Peace is often
lacking even among virtuous actors, but peace and war are not dichotomous. A state of war results
when two actors mutually decide that their existences are incompatible, and each coolly resolves to
annihilate the other however possible, a

Forence And Leadership Of The Renaissance
How did florence gain leadership of Renaissance?
The Renaissance (Rebirth) declined throughout most of the Europe. The renaissance is an Italian
idea, androgen the Italian Renaissance generally covers the periods from the beginning of the 14th
century to the end of the 16th century. And florenceis the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
The artistic and economic changes that are associated with the Renaissance, first began in the
Florence.Trade, crusades and the expansion of commerce in city states (11th and 12th ) centuries
helped florence a lot in economy. Geography also made florence a model of Renaissance culture
because it was central Italy, agriculture thrived in tuscany and Lombardy and Florence conquered
Pisa in 1406 (access to sea , expansion of trade)

They studied the writings and works of the Greeks and the Romans and realized that earlier
civilizations had lived differently. This new way of thinking was called Humanism. The defining
concept of the Renaissance was humanism and was the philosophical backbone of the Renaissance
.Humanism became quite popular during the Renaissance. The Humanists also had a great effect on
education. They supported studying grammar, poetry, and history, as well as mathematics,
astronomy, and music. Humanism relied on flexible thinking and being open to all of the
possibilities of life and less concerned with the thinking of the past. The Florentine people were
very proud of their form of government in the early 15th century. A place that respects the opinions

Ethos, Pathos amp; Logos in The Letter from Birmingham Jail Some varieties of inspiration come
as passionate love while others appeal as injustice as did Martin Luther King in his Letter from
Birmingham Jail. Martin Luther King Jr. effectively crafted his counter argument by first directly
addressing his audience, the clergymen, and then using logos, pathos, and ethos to refute his
opponent s statements and present his own perspective. After stating the general purpose of his
letter, Martin Luther King Jr. specifically addressed the clergymen to set up for his logical
counterargument. First Martin Luther King effectively makes use of logos throughout his letter. He

Euripides As A Tragic Tragedy
The Big Three of Greek tragedy has always been Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides. As a late
comer to the stage of tragedy in comparison to the others, Euripides formed his reputation by
building off the works of others. For instance, in Hekabe, Euripides incorporated already known
characters and concepts from The Orestia written by Aeschylus. Despite the fact that Euripides
appears to build off the work of others, Aristotle honors him with the title of the most tragic
playwright. Euripides stood out by using a novel structure for tragedy. In a typical tragedy, the
protagonist is the central characterin the play and an antagonist brings about the suffering and
downfall of the protagonist, which the audience is supposed to pity. Euripides breaks from this
archaic model by producing tragedies without a clear antagonist. Without this pivotal character
role, the play is able to take on a more tragic persona. Aristotle expresses his thoughts about
tragedy in his book Poetics. In the chapter titled The Best Kinds of Tragic Plot, Aristotle dives
into how a plot should be structured (page 20, Poetics). Aristotle believes a simplistic plot
structure using common households is best (page 20, Poetics). He uses Euripides as an example
of what to do, stating that those who criticize his work for using already established characters
are making a mistake. Euripides utilizes the audience s background knowledge of his characters
to his advantage. He is able to embellish his plays by alluding to references already known to the
audience to further the plot. For example, in Hekabe, during the sacrifice of Polyxena there were
parallels to the sacrifice of Agamemnon s daughter Iphigenia. This detail in the play builds
Agamemnon s character without going off on a long anecdote about his past. Aristotle believed
that despite Euripides s incorporation of already established characters, it was the structure of his
plots which allows him to be regarded as the most tragic of poets. (page 22, Poetics). As
previously stated, Euripides distinguishes himself from other playwrights by embracing a unique
style of having unclear antagonistic roles. His play Hekabe is a perfect example because the
antagonistic role is obscure. The

Paget s Disease Of Bone
Paget s disease of bone (PDB), also known as osteitis deformans, is named after Sir James Paget,
an English surgeon, who first described the disease in 1877. Since then, research has determined
that 15% to 40% of cases are inherited and the balance is thought to be caused by exposure to a
slow viruses like human respiratory syncytial virus or canine distemper virus, however, symptoms
may not appear for many years afterward. In about half of cases that are hereditary, a mutated gene
has been isolated that is known to cause osteoclasts to become rogue and un regulated. PDB causes
long bones to grow unnaturally long causing pain and osteoarthritis, hearing loss and nervous
systems disorders from pressure on the brain caused by cranium overgrowth,... Show more content

Then, characteristic x ray signatures and elevated total alkaline phos phatase (ALP) levels
confirm the disease and bone scans and individual bone x rays determine the extent of damaged
areas. However, total ALP levels remain within reference levels as long as the disease is
monostotic, that is, involving a single bone. Total ALP is not a marker until remodeling has
gone far astray in several bones that are grossly misshapen. And, because it is widely recognized
that prevalence and severity of PDB is decreasing in the world population, total ALP levels
remain within reference ranges far longer, making anecdotal discovery rare. Although there is
no cure for PDB, early detection is vital for commencement of diet, exercise, and drug regimens
that significantly mitigate debilitating symptoms and disease progression. Per Magnusson,
Michael Davie and Christopher Sharp compared total ALP and three isoforms of ALP (B/I, B1,
B2) of 37 patients with various stages of PDB and a control group of 66 healthy patients. Their
findings revealed that the B2 isoform of ALP is increased in asymptomatic PDB patients with a
validity of 80% on a characteristic comparison curve of true postive to false positive ratios. High
bone B2 isoform ALP levels may be of use in early discovery, however, only total ALP levels are
routinely

Evil Vs Secularism
The issue of evil is the favorite point on which secularists hang their atheistic argument.
The secularist rejection is based on the supposed contradiction of the existence of a God, who is
omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent on the one hand, and the existence of evil, on the
other hand. Epicurus stated the incompatibility of belief in a God with those attributes against the
undeniable reality of evil this way: God either wishes to take away evils, and is unable; or he is
able and unwilling; or he is either willing nor able, or he is both willing and able. Epicurus then
attempts to work out each of the stated possibilities in the following way:
1.If God is willing and is unable, he is feeble, which is not in accordance with the character of God.
2.If he is able and unwilling, he is envious [meaning: evil], which is equally at variance with God.
3.If he is neither willing nor able he is both envious [meaning evil] and feeble, and therefore not
God.
4.If he is both willing and able, which alone is suitable to God, from what source then are evils or
why does he not remove them?
The Christian explanation for the issue of evil can be broken into two major ... Show more content

God is truly the only essential and genuinely free being in the universe. All other created beings
are dependent and reliant upon him. Dr. Waita rightly points out that the issue of evil becomes
tricky when we render our theology theocentric, dragging God to the court of human reason to
answer for his actions. Since God is the only truly free being, he was free and very justified in
creating various angelic beings as well as humans. God decided to create them with freewill
instead of being robotic in nature. Because God gave them freewill and intellect, they could
experience self will, emotion, and creativity. Dr. Waita points out that as intellectual, they had the
capacity to know God s will, and the free will to choose to obey or disobey

Carpe Diem Analysis
Aaron Jeu
Ms. Wagner
English 1B
22 June 2017
Rough Draft: Life and Death Carpe Diem is a Latin phrase, which often tends to denote a
significant literary theme found in popular culture, including Peter Weir s Dead Poets Society or
Green Day s song, Carpe Diem. However, it is also especially common in lyrical poetry.
According to Oxford Dictionary, it is used [as encouragement] to make the most of the present life
while it lasts or live for the moment. Both Dylan Thomas s Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good
Night and Robert Frost s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening explore the notion that
individuals should endeavor life to its fullest. In his poem, Thomas expresses a very passionate,
pleading voice to deeply allure his audience. In contrast, Frost communicates his approach in a more
pensive, practical, subtle style that slyly provokes the audience to think about their own fate.
The collective theme of the two poems is similar in that both explain that death is imminent, that
individuals should not take for granted the time they have left on Earth, and that people need
courage to face death, and to realize that death can wait. However, Thomas utilizes an ardent,
compelling tone to assert his beliefs that individuals should partake in a more dynamic role and
embrace what will happen to them during their lives. On the contrary, Frost believes that every
human has a timely death and that people should strive to fulfill their commissions before giving in
to death.

William Blake Argument
Did he who made the Lamb make thee? William Blake, The Tyger. This line in particular turns
William Blake s poem from simple to complex. This line shows that there is two very strong sides
to Blake s thinking. Why would God create such a terrifying creature, as the tiger, when it only
causes harm? In The Lamb, Blake describes Godas meek and mild. However, if God is meek and
mild, how could He possible create such a beast? As many read these two poems, they step back
and wonder, which side do they follow? Should we believe God to be all good, or is there a darker
side to this story? A common defense for the tiger would be, God works in mysterious ways, or, It s
all of God s plan. Nevertheless, that is not a direct answer. Why does He... Show more content on

One thing I like religion for is the morals. Many religions believe that you shouldn t put harmful
things into your body. They may also promote abstinence or not dating until a certain age. They
can also contradict their good morals with something such as being homosexual is bad. I do not
believe gay marriage is wrong, so I would not be able to fully commit to that religion if that was
one of the beliefs. What are the benefits to being a tiger? A tiger may tell you that they don t
have to deal with the religious fluff. By fluff I mean all the stuff a religion includes other than
simply having faith. An example being, going to church, or attending other church gatherings.
This is true, and it is something I quite enjoy while not being devoted to a church. Tigers often
have strong reasoning as to why they are a tiger. One common reason is they were once hurt. If
God exist, why would He allow for any hurt to happen? When they needed him most, where was
He? I have yet to have something happen to me to make me throw the idea of God completely out
the window, but that does not mean it has not happened to others. I completely respect their choice
and if they wish to be a tiger, so be

organizations, such values are thought of as being known, understood, and expressed in context of

A Child Called It By Dave Pelzer
The book A Child Called It is an emotional roller coaster type of book and stomach twisting
subjects appear throughout the chapters. It is an amazing book to read I would recommend it

Illegal Immigration Pros And Cons
Immigration is a very debated topic in the United States right now. Conservative citizens believe
that people who enter the country illegally, or without proper documentation, have no right to
stay. The federal government has laws set in place to prevent illegal immigrants from staying in
their borders for too long such as taking away their right to work and ensuring that businesses do
not hire these people. The government wants to have accountability of its visitors so that it can
keep their citizens safe. Texas borders Mexico for approximately 2000 miles and many of the
illegal immigrants come through there to work in Texas. Many Texans will eagerly jump on the

The total number becomes 4.55 billion dollars. This is not an accurate number because most
illegal immigrants pay their portion of taxes like a regular citizen. Property taxes are collected in
their rent payments. It is illegal to own property if you are not a resident of the United States or are
lawfully permitted to by the government. According to The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on
Texans, the total illegal alien population contributes to about 285 million in property tax revenue
(Martin, 2014). This estimate was calculated by considering that about one third of the illegal
immigrant population is single and two thirds in family units. The average rent property tax
revenue for single residents and family residents were applied appropriately. The sales tax can be
calculated by gathering an average income from illegal immigrants and apply the 8.25 percent
sales tax. This figure is estimated to be about 1.4 billion according to the Immigration Policy
Center. Sin taxes, the taxation on public goods that are not necessary for life and are taxed at a
different rate, are difficult to calculate. The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on Texans reports
approximately 133 million dollars are generated by illegal immigrants (Martin, 2014). They
calculated this number by estimating the average consumption rate of cigarettes and beer and
multiplying it by the tax revenue on each item. The total amount of revenue generated by illegal
immigrants for the state is roughly 2 billion

Andrea enthusiastically participated with the examiner during the language sample. She initiated
the conversation by choosing to explain how to play the game Googly Eyes rather than utilize any

chronological, she occasionally forgot a part of the game, but always corrected herself for any

word could be attributed to her age, rather than a reflection of her lexical diversity. Her
descriptions of the game were spontaneous, mostly fluid, and she was 100% intelligible. These
observations suggest this sample was a valid representation of Andrea s language abilities as the
game required several complex explanations in which she performed well.
Throughout the conversation, Andrea displayed a mastery of complex syntactic and

Psychology the Nervous System Essay examples
Assignment 3 Written Essay Questions 1. a) We are able to experience different types of
sensations because our nervous system encodes messages. German physiologist Johannes Muller
in his doctrine of specific nerve energies described a kind of code which is anatomical. In his
doctrine, Muller explains that different sensory modalities exist because signals received by the
sense organs stimulate different nerve pathways that lead to different areas of the brain. For
example, when the ear receives signals, these signals cause impulses to travel along the auditory
nerve to the auditory cortex. And signals from the eye cause impulses to travel along the optic
nerve to the visual cortex. Because of these anatomical differences, light... Show more content on

An extensive matrix of neurons in the brain gives us the sense of our own bodies and body
parts. Pain results when this matrix produces an abnormal pattern of activity, as a result of
memories, emotions, expectations or signals from various brain centres and not just from signals
from peripheral nerves. Because of the lack of sensory stimulation or a person s efforts to move a
nonexistent limb, abnormal patterns may arise, resulting in phantom pain. 6. a) The role stimulus

vomiting and nausea where a patient who drank lemon lime Kool Aid before their therapy sessions
developed anxiety disorders. They continued to feel anxious even when the drink was offered in
their homes rather than at the clinic. c) Classical conditioning could help patients reduce pain and
anxiety through the use of placebos. For example the use of pills and injections that have no active
ingredients or treatments that have no direct physical effect on the problem. The bigger and more
impressive the placebos are, the stronger their psychological effects are. 7. The evidence shows that

The Atkins V. Murrey Atkins Library
Libraries customarily serve as providers of vast arrays of knowledge, provoking introspection and
musing enabling the creation of original notions serving as a haven for independent thought, but
also as an area to exchange knowledge. In the case of the J. Murrey Atkins Library explicitly the
ground floor the underlying message provided by the facilitators is considerably complex. The
Atkins Library, is committed to being academically resourceful and reliable, striving to preserve a
tranquil and safe environment for students; ensuring comfort, socialization, and multitasking in a
diverse setting. This message is insinuated in posters and signs exhibited throughout the ground
floor, the technologically advanced appliances, the wide variety of seating arrangements, and the
alarm systems, scattered across the ceiling.
The Atkins Library gives the impression of being intellectually rewarding, as perceived on the
ground floor; however, whether students take advantage of this situation depends solely on the
individual. There are various ways in which this message is conveyed, namely in the form of
posters. There are two posters one of which can be found at the immediate north entrance of the
library and the other in the general vicinity of Peete s Coffee; informing students of Upcoming
Workshops. Librarians regularly hold these workshops to aid scholars in researching topics,
whether it be for a social science course or social work. These seminars are not required, but are

Drug Use And Its Effect On The Global Increase Of Death...
Introduction Illicit drug use is a prevalent issue in today s society. According to the Australian
Institute of Health and Welfare, the global increase of death and disease can be largely attributed
to the illegal use of drugs (Illicit Use of Drugs, 2013). Though the rates of illegal drug use have
remained constant in recent years, there has been a shift in the use of specific drugs (Illicit Use of
Drugs, 2013). One drugthat has received a lot of attention due to an apparent increase in usage is
Methamphetamine. Methamphetamine is a highly addictive stimulantdrug that has been a source of
controversy within Australia. Though the usage of methamphetamine in Australia has remained
constant over the past few years, there has been a significant change in the preferred form of the
drug (Illicit Use of Drugs, 2013). For example, the usage of methamphetamine powder saw a
significant decrease from 2010 to 2013. In contrast, the use of the crystalline form more
commonly know as ice nearly doubled in the same time frame (Illicit Use of Drugs, 2013). Due to
the increase of ice usage, as well as the highly addictive nature of the drug, many are concerned that
Australia is in the midst of an ice epidemic. This essay will examine methamphetamine s
pharmacokinetic properties, its pharmacological mechanisms, the long and short term effects of
use, as well as discuss the prevalence of ice in Australia.
Overview of Methamphetamine Methamphetamine is a stimulant drug that is

Distance Between Clusters And Nearest Neighbor
Distance between clusters
Nearest neighbor (single linkage). In this measure the similarity between two clusters is defined as
the smallest distance between two objects in different clusters. Distance between cluster A and
cluster B is the minimum amongst the following pairs (1,5), (1,6), (1,7), (2,5), (2,6), and (2,7). In
each iteration, the distance between two different clusters is equal to the distance between its
closest members.
Furthest neighbor (complete linkage). With this similarity measure, the distance between two
different clusters is equal to the maximum amongst all pairs. It is equal to the distance amongst
their members who are the farthest.
UPGMA Using the average linkage method, called UPGMA, the distance between two different
clusters is equal to the average of the distance of all their pairs. This method is usually preferred
over nearest neighbor or farthest neighbor because it encompasses the knowledge of all pairs
instead of focusing on one single pair.
Average linkage within groups. UPGMA considers average of all pairs. The average linkage
method combines clusters in such a way that the average distance in the resulting cluster from all
the pairs is as small as possible. This method is particularly useful when it is computationally
expensive to calculate distances between all pairs.
Ward s method. In each cluster the means for each variable is computed. Then the Euclidean
distance of each member from this means is calculated. These

Mallard s Point Of View
A Mallard s Point of View In The Story of an hour by Kate Chopin, the use of third person
limited omniscient is significant to the story for three main reasons. First, if it were not for the
narrator, the reader would be unaware of many details which the characters themselves would
likely have been blind to. Second, the narrator uses words which set a tone as to how the reader
should feel about Louise Mallard and her situation. Third, had the narrator been completely
omniscient, the reader would have known about the ending, thereby spoiling the surprise. A
Mallard s point of view, either Louise s or Brently s, never would have given the reader the correct
amount of information needed in order for the story to have the impact that it does.... Show more

Chopin used words and details to set a tone as to how the reader should feel about Louise
Mallard and the situation she is in. Chopin described the physical exhaustion that haunted her
body and how she was pressed down from it. She wrote There stood, facing the open window, a
comfortable, roomy armchair; into this she sank, pressed down by a physical exhaustion that
haunted her body and seemed to reach into her soul (547). Without third person limited
omniscient point of view, the reader would not have been able to know or feel the pain that
Louise was feeling. Chopin also describes how she felt free because of her husband s death and
how she has accepted it, she says, There would be no one to live for her during those coming
years; she would live for herself (547). This quote described how free she felt as she would be
able to live her own life. The details and words used by Chopin describe the pain and the
eventual acceptance of the death of her husband. If the story had been completely omniscient the
reader would have known about every detail. This would have spoiled the ending and the
surprise it caused as there would have been no reveal at the end. Someone was opening the front
door with a latchkey. It was brently Mallard who entered, a little travel stained, composedly
carrying his grip sack and umbrella. He had been far from the scene of the accident,

Match Point Aristotle
Recipe for Tragedy Aristotle, who was one of the greatest philosophers of Ancient Greece,
analysed the different elements of tragedies and the ideal form for tragic plays. He also came up
with the definition, which stated that a tragic play would need to have six elements to be
successful. Aristotle felt that the plot and characters are the most important elements in a tragic
play. However, thought, diction, spectacle and melody must also be done well to make a
successful play. Match Point is an example of a modern tragic film that follows Aristotle s
elements. The plot had peripety, which is the change from one state to another at the beginning to
the exact opposite at the end, and unity of plot. The characters were believable and consistent and
the melody blended in with the film. These elements will be... Show more content on

Before important events the music would play to signal that something important was going to
happen. Before Chris murders Nola, the opera music started playing so we know that something
significant was going to happen. It was also blended in very well with the scene to make it more
dramatic and suspenseful. Also, when Chris threw the old ladies ring, the music started to play.
This also made it more suspenseful and dramatic because the music was blended into the scene
and signifies the importance of the scenes it is played in. Match Point is a perfect example of a
modern tragedy. The film fits all of the criteria and elements that Aristotle thought had to be in a
tragic play. The plot was unified and all of the scenes was based on one main issue and Chris state
changed from happiness to a state of misery. Chris character was very believable and was never out

This is a measuring that is not an exact measuring tool and is relative. It is based on comparing
group to group or individual to individual. Individual ranking according to Robbins and Judge, an
evaluation method that ranks orders employees from best to worst. (pg.599 2009). This is
evident in the EPR system as there are quotas on the ranking system and how many people can
achieve each rating and in turn is a forced comparison and also group comparison as each rank is
split into a group. This system has gone through many changes and continues to change based
on necessity. No one evaluation system is better than the other and that is why I believe they
use the current system as it employs multiple systems for the annual evaluations. From scripture

Honor Killing
An honor killing is the homicide of a member of a family by other members, due to the
perpetrators belief that the victim has brought shame or dishonor upon the family, or has violated
the principles of a community or a religion, usually for reasons such as refusing to enter an
arranged marriage, being in a relationship that is disapproved by their family, having sex outside
marriage, becoming the victim of rape, dressing in ways which are deemed inappropriate, or
engaging in homosexual relations.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_killing)
There are many Cases of Honor killing all over the world but for me the most shocking incident was
the Aarushi Talwar MurderCase. That incident shocked the whole nation as a 16 year old girl was
murdered and the most interesting part is that the blame was on her father to kill her. With this, one
more dead body was found and that was of their servant. After all this the blame was again on
father that he has killed his daughter and servant as he saw both of them in a compromising position.

Aerobic And Anaerobic Cellular Respiration
Aerobic and Anaerobic Cellular Respiration Respiration describes sequences of enzyme catalysed
biochemical reactions within cells to produce life sustaining energy (Turtle, 2015). Muscle
activity relies on biochemical energy from Adenosine triphosphate (ATP), a high energy molecule
in cells which stores and supplies energy. To make ATP, a muscle cell (Myocyte) utilises Oxygen
provided by Myoglobin (a muscle fibre oxygen binding protein) and breaks down glucose in aerobic
cellular respiration. The chemical reaction yields Carbon dioxide, water and energy.
Structure of glucose molecule (BBC, 2014) Glucose (C6H12O6) + Oxygen (6O2) = Carbon
dioxide (6CO2) + Water (6H2O) + ATP Energy
To yield energy ATP is broken down, with the aid of ATPases, into Adenosine diphosphate (ADP), a
phosphate and energy.
ATP вћ™ ADP + Pi (phosphoric acid) + Energy
A sequence of Glycolysis, pyruvate oxidation, Krebs cycle and Oxidative Phosphorylation linked
oxidation reduction (Redox) biochemical reactions are involved in respiration. Glucose is stripped
of electrons which are added to oxygen and reaction releases tiny amounts of energy that drives ATP
formation.
(Horne and Bear, 2014) In the cytoplasm, Glycolysis involves the breakdown of a six carbon ring
glucose molecule and requires a two ATP investment but yields 4 ATP, two three carbon ring
pyruvates and two energy rich NADH. B vitamin NAD+ combines with energised electrons and a

Free will is the concept proposed by the mind and executed by the body, to openly control its
actions without outside comments. Freedom and free will come at a price. Millions of people
across the span of time have laid down their life to close the deficit to pay for these two things.
During the Revolutionary War, the United States fought for their freedom against the United

The Grand Inquisitor is set during the Spanish inquisition. During this time, the church had total
control over everyone and what they could or could not do. If someone was found to be in
violation of the church s code, they would be tortured or even killed(CITATION HERE). One of
such tortures can be read about in Edgar Allan Poe s The Pit and the Pendulum . In The Pit and
the Pendulum the main character is forced to choose between jumping in a pit to his inevitable
doom, or being sliced in half by a giant pendulum swinging over top of him(Poe, 17). In the
Grand Inquisitor Jesus has come back to Earth to see how things are going. Upon his arrival he
sees how many people are in need of help. He than begins to perform miracles on the needy and
the church does not approve. Jesus is then taken into custody. While in his cell it is explained to
him that his miracles were making the general population question the integrity of the church. He
is also told that when people begin to question, they are starting to act on their own free will,
which is very dangerous. When people are given the option between good and evil, they will
always choose evil. So if Jesus was allowed to continue to perform miracles, the church would be
overthrown and the streets would be ruled by chaos. The Grand inquisitor acts as the person
holding the leash and the population acts as the animal ( The Brothers Karamazov: ). As long as the
person holding the leash can distinguish between good and evil, the population will follow the

The Counter Reformation and Catholic Mass
Rising nationalism, the Western Schism, and even new philosophies arising from the renaissance
were contributing factors. But on October 31, 1517 every event prior seemed less significant. On
this date, Martin Luther nailed a paper listing ninety five theses, all magnifying problems within the
Catholic Church. This was the birth of the protestant reformation, a major blow to the Catholic
Churchand her followers. This drove the church to make many in house adjustments, from religious
orders to political influences of the church, reworking the framework of the traditional Mass itself
and even restructuring many in house positions. This list of corrections made and actions taken in

Alexander Farnese was positioned as Governor General of the Spanish Netherlands. Farnese led a
successful campaign against the Dutch Revolt, in capturing the main cities in the south and
returned them to the control of Catholic Spain. By the treaty of Arras in 1579, he secured the
support of southern Catholic nobles. Although this treaty did not last forever, and the northern
seven provinces eventually became free and independent, forming the Dutch Republic, this was a
victory for the Catholic Church, seeing as the treaty lasted until the end of the reformation period.
To keep a solid foothold in both political and religious worlds, the Church believed institutional
reform was necessary. In 1545, Pope Paul III initiated the Council of Trent, which lasted until 1564.
In this council, a group of cardinals was assigned the duty of addressing many controversial issues
such as indulgences, corrupt priests and bishops, and other financial abuses.
The council based itself off of the Medieval Church. All the way down to its doctrine, sacramental
systems, and religious orders. While this group reaffirmed the traditional fundamentals, noticeable
differences were visible. One correction that made a visible difference was fixing the growing
divide between clerics and the laity. Clerics were commonly rural priests that did not know Latin
and did not have proper theological training. Whereas the laity were more educated in theology and

poem describing a parents emotional state as her daughter goes away. In the poem the stanzas all

Memi And Sabu Comparison
Sculpture is a fascinating form of art because it documents the human experience going far back
before languages were developed to convey meaning. In the case of the Egyptian statute of Memi
and Sabu as well as Gudea from ancient Mesopotamia each culture was advanced enough to use
hieroglyphic scripture and yet they still cultivated these careful representations of important people
from the time. Although they come from different corners of the globe they have many similarities,
perhaps even more in common than they have different. As we explore both statues the principles
of design, including line, texture, shape and technique make it apparent how intelligent these
civilizations were and how much care and pride went into them.

Memi and Sabu clearly have an intimate relationship and unlike Gudea, great detail has gone into
shaping the contours and details of their bodies. One can see the feminine slope of Sabu s torso
making her much more delicate and small in comparison to her partner. We can see the muscular
detail of Memi s arms, as well as his legs and even his knobby knees. The couple s value is much
lighter compared to Gudea giving the impression that the sculpture carries a lighter mass overall.
There is also a much greater sense of space and depth between the two. Memi and Sabu look
almost as if they could come to life and walk right off the slab they were carved, but Gudea feels
more cemented. He is formed from much darker stone and is fully clothed, giving him a sense of
weight and importance. His texture is different too, pitted and much shallower. Gudea s pose is
much more thoughtful, his hands clasped, his shoulders squared and together these elements echo
the inscriptions of his great work as a religious

Hip Hop And The Music Genre
What is Hip Hop? According to Encyclopedia Britannica, Hip Hop can be delineated as a music
genre consisting of a stylized rhythmic music that commonly accompanies rapping, a rhythmic
and rhyming speech that is chanted.1 Originating from a disparaged subculture in the South
Bronx and eagerly spreading through other sectors of New York City during the 1970 s, Hip
Hop evolved from formerly being a relatively fraudulent style to currently being a
commercialized and disseminated music genre among diverse areas around the globe. Hip hop s
evolution into a composition distinct from R B ensued around the time that drum machines and
sampling technology became widely available to the general public at a financially affordable
cost for the average consumer. Turntablist techniques (i.e. scratching, beat mixing, matching, and
beat juggling) ultimately developed along with the breaks, producing a base that could be
rapped over, in a manner similar to signifying, as well as percussive breaks (an influence found
in Jamaican dub music). The art of manipulating sound and creating illustrious music were few
of the techniques that identified the aeon of the hip hop genre: Three of whom will be presented

that set.
a. The integers greater than 10.
This is countably infinite.
Starting from the first integer greater than 10, which is 11, one can infinitely count upwards since
there is no boundary on the right side of the number line for this instance.
The equation Ж’(x) = x + 11 can be used to show a one to one correspondence. x: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ...

Ж’(x): 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, ...
b. Integers divisible by 5 but not by 7.
This is countably infinite.
This is similar to part (a); we can simply list the elements of the set in order of increasing absolute
value, listing each positive term before its corresponding negative: (x): 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9...

c. The real numbers with decimal representations consisting of all 1s.
This set is countable but a little tricky.
We can arrange the numbers in a 2 dimensional table as follows:
Thus we have shown that our set is the countable union of countable sets (each of the countable sets
is one row of this table).
Therefore by Exercise 27, the entire set is countable.
For an explicit correspondence with the positive integers, we can zigzag along the positive sloping
diagonals as in Figure 3: 1↔ .1 , 2↔ 1.1 , 3↔.1, 4↔.11, 5↔1, and so on.
d. The real numbers with decimal representations of all 1s or 9s.
This set is not countable.
We can prove it by the same diagonalization argument as was used to prove that the set of all reals

The Mortality Rate Of Sex Workers Essay
Regarding the mortality rate of sex workers, One study found that workplace murder risk is 51
times greater [for prostitutes] than for the next most dangerous profession which is operating a
liquor store (Dir. J. K. Wasson and J. Wells). Because prostitution is ultimately seen as a consensual
profession, some may interpret this information with indifference, believing that the sex workers
were willing participants. More often than not, however, sex workers are being coerced into the
industry by some form of force; leading them to be exploited for physical and economic gain. In
order to convince someone that the prostitutionindustry influences the victimization of women, I
would need to counteract the notions endowed onto us by society that lead people to believe that
prostitution is a fair system. Ethnomethodology, Symbolic interaction, and conflict theory have
contributed to the the false impression of sex workers endorsed by the mainstream.
Ethnomethodology is the study of everyday actions of people as an expression of their reality.
Every reality contains five features that describe how one s perspective is maintained and
occasionally transformed. In order to change the reality of people who believe that sex workers are
independently engaging in prostitution, I would need to address the five features of reality. The
first feature, reflexivity, states that reality is maintained by the process of absorbing interactions

The Albatross
The particular meaning of death is evidently endless, and with the limitless range of possibilities
that follow along with it comes with no amazement that the death scenes in literature sometimes
create the most significant themes in their relevant stories. One similar case to this would be the
death of the Albatross, in the poem The Rime of the Ancient Marinerby Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
In the poem, the Mariner carelessly shots the Albatross, guiding him and his men, without giving
any good reasons why he did so. This can be related to religion because the Albatross represents
Christ because he was our one and only option at achieving eternal life in Heaven, even after man
continued to torture him. The Albatross was the crew s one and only chance at salvation from the
icy region, but the Mariner destroys all their chances after killing the bird. His impression then
would reveal his carelessness for nature, a moment that would illuminate the logical purpose of the
poem clearer now than it did before.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

cursing the mariner and his crew. After all his crew members have died is when he starts to

Gender Discrimination in Emergency Medical Services Essay
Gender Discrimination in Emergency Medical Services

all those involved. The street comes alive with flashing red and white lights and screaming sirens.
Ambulances tear down the street to the accident scene. They arrive to find four cars involved in a

They speculate about the condition of their patient, the other patients at the scene, and their co

Having been exposed to a typical accident scene that most emergency medical personnel are used
to working can be somewhat shocking. There are many questions, which arise after working a
call like that just described. The one I would like to focus on is what were the names of the EMTs
and Paramedics involved in the accident scene depicted? Jeff, Will, and John? Or could they
possibly have been Charlene, Lee, and Tracy?
Even in today s world of political correctness, there is still a very large gender bias when it comes
to certain things, such as Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The number of men in the field is
much higher than the number of women. Women, for the most part, are looked at as not being as
capable of performing what is required of an Emergency Medical Technician(EMT) or a Paramedic
as men are. EMTs and Paramedics are required to make split second, possibly life saving decisions,
lift large amounts of weight, and work long hours in all conditions. Since most women are
physically smaller than most men are, they are viewed as not being strong enough to lift patients or
equipment in many situations.

technical process and as funding becomes competitive and harder to source (Couzin Miller, 2007),
grant writing process will rely on the involvement of all the collaborators including the non
scientific trained community members. Fundamental to the principles guiding CBPR is assembling
and building up the research team from role and responsibility allocation, staffing of the team,
structure of decision making, training, collaborative study design to sustaining equal involvement.
To engage the community partners in grant writing process, it is important to collectively consider,
identify and select which faculty, community members, other partners that should be involved in
the grant writing. By aligning individuals who have the experience with grant writing with other
individuals coming to the table with their knowledge and

Essay On College Athletes Are Not Paid
College athletes have always been worked beyond imagine, and it is ridiculous to think that even
in today s society, college athletes are not paid. Unlike regular college students, student athletes
are not able to work jobs or make extra money because they put over forty hours a week in to their
respective sport. More often than not collegeathletes are taken advantage of because they put their
bodies at risk for injury and have no insurance or income to make it worthwhile. Of course, some
college athletes do go on to make millions of dollars, but that is only the case for a small
percentage of college athletes, and since college sports brings in billions of dollars a year, college
athletes should earn at least a small profit. Furthermore,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Allen Sack, athletes are already essentially paid to play, by getting to go to college
for free, but they also deserve the same rights and benefits as other employees, which could
include medical benefits, workers compensation when injured, and the right to build financial
security for their family while in college, and the denial of these rights is morally
unconscionable (Sack). It does not make sense that college athletes are not paid because these
athletes are the sole reason for popularity in the college athletic apparel market, which brings in
millions of dollars a year, yet college athletes do not see a dime, even though they are the reason
for sold jerseys and other apparel. Even worse is the fact that college athletes are prone to getting
injured and a rising star with a great future ahead of him or her can have their contract
(scholarships) canceled once a school realizes that they will no longer be bringing value or money
to their school. Of course, this sounds cruel, but it is the reality for some college athletes, and it is
an option that must be extinguished because not only do regular students deserve reassurance and
stability, but college athletes do

In order for you to understand how I did this, I will explain that a z score gives you a way to
compare different sets of data using their standard deviations and averages. In statistics, standard
deviation is a measure that is used to quantify the amount of variation or dispersion of a set of data
values. A standard deviation close to zero tells you the data points are close to the meanor average.
Having a high standard deviation shows data points are spread out over a wider range of values. If
x is a data point in a normal distribution, then the equation for the z score of x is x equals x minus
the average all divided by the standard deviation. Normal distribution is just a function that
represents the distribution of many random variables as a symmetrical bell shaped graph. To start
off, I made a spread sheet full of statistics in the program Excel. I listed ten of the leagues top
players to calculate their averages and standard deviations in points, assists, offensive and
defensive rebounds. To do this I just used the Excel function. The players I used were Kevin
Durant, Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant, Derrick Rose, Russell
Westbrook, Chris Paul, James Harden, and Anthony Davis. I chose these specific players based on
numbers, age, position, contract, salary and popularity. From there in each category in the

Abstract Now a days the importance of electrical energy is very severe, that no one could live
without it. In such a condition, in India and especially in southern India there is a great demand
for electricity. This article refers to such a problem and also gives a solution .Moreover

This indicates that India s future energy requirements are going to be very high and solar energy
can be one of the efficient and eco friendly ways to meet the same.
Solar thermal power generation technologies
Solar Thermal Power systems, also known as Concentrating Solar Power systems, use concentrated
solar radiation as a high temperature energy source to produce electricity using thermal route.
Since the average operating temperature of stationary non concentrating collectors is low (max up
to 1200C) as compared to the desirable input temperatures of heat engines (above 3000C), the
concentrating collectors are used for such applications. These technologies are appropriate for
applications where direct solar radiation is high. The mechanism of conversion of solar to
electricity is fundamentally similar to the traditional thermal power plants except use of solar
energy as source of heat.
In the basic process of conversion of solar into heat energy, an incident solar irradiance is
collected and concentrated by concentrating solar collectors or mirrors, and generated heat is used
to heat the thermic fluids such as heat transfer oils, air or water/steam, depending on the plant
design, acts as heat carrier and/or as storage media. The hot thermic fluid is used to generated
steam or hot gases, which are then used to operate a heat engine. In these systems, the efficiency of
the collector reduces marginally as its operating

Why You Should Outlaw Credit And Debit Cards
The Best Way to Kick Start Your Money Resolutions For the New Year
As the new year rolls around many of us decide to enrich our lives in numerous ways. As many of
us venture towards a life of salads and gym memberships, we tend to forget about our fiscal
resolutions. Dieting can be quite an expensive lifestyle change. Luckily there s a diet out there that
can kick start your money resolutions!
Why You Should Outlaw Credit and Debit Cards
We are lucky to live in a society with easy and secure access to our money through the use of
credit and debit cards. We re even given register books to manage the amount of money that goes
in and out of our accounts on a daily basis. However, most people are forgoing the hour long
process of jotting down every receipt in their wallet in favor of online transaction summaries
that most banks provide. Debit and Credit cards are great things, don t get me wrong. But, let s
be honest, it s a lot easier to lose track of how much money you spend when you can t visually see a
wad of money slowly disappearing inside your wallet. Losing the credit and debit card is the perfect
way to kick start your money resolutions.
Here is a list of several reasons that switching to cash can help kick start your money resolutions
You can actually see how much money you spend if you use cash
You can t go into debt or procure pesky overdraft fees
You can learn how to budget better (you can t spend cash that s not there)
Using cash instead of card can

Our Ears and Eyes Deceive Us Essay
We have eyes to see with, ears to hear with, why then do we err?
We have been blessed with five senses that we are expected to survive with. But as technologies
improve and our knowledge is broadened, the more we realize that our senses are not as glorious
as previously thought. Indeed, man has been blessed with eyes and ears, yet he still errs. What he
sees before him, is it correct? What he hears and what he is told, is it inaccurate?
Our perception of our world has been shaped by centuries worth of studies, and recently with the
help of technology. We believe what we see in textbooks, we nod in agreement to what we are told.

What we don t see as quickly are its many limitations. The relative size of the land masses is
distorted. Greenland and Africa seem to be about the same size, but actually Africa is fourteen
times bigger. Europe s size is exaggerated, and placed in the center of the map, which is also untrue.
But most importantly it is based on the convention that the Northern hemisphere is at the top of the
world, and the Southern hemisphere is at the bottom . Such an assumption is made mainly out of
habit, but it is also a topic of contradictory ideas.
It is inaccurate to assume that the Northern hemisphere should be on top, for depending on which
angle one looks at the Earth, the Southern hemisphere is on top. This is illustrated by another type
of map projection, known as the Hobo Dyer projection. Although the shapes of the continents are
distorted, sizes are reflected accurately. Many people find this map faulty due to the habitual
way of thinking that north should be on top. We only believe in this because we have heard this
all our lives, and we have seen it in textbooks and read about it. But could it not be possible to we
err on this matter? It was simply a coincidence that the first maps were drawn with the North on
top. Had it been drawn any other way, then what we believe today would be considered a mistake.
Our perception is clouded with such assumptions, and so it is possible that we have made lapses in
judgment, and without realizing it

Essay about History of the Computer
History of the Computer
The first devices that resemble modern computers date to the mid 20th century (around 1940
1945), although the computer concept and various machines similar to computers existed earlier.
Early electronic computers were the size of a large room, consuming as much power as several
hundred modern personal computers.[1] Modern computers are based on tiny integrated circuits
and are millions to billions of times more capable while occupying a fraction of the space.[2]
Today, simple computers may be made small enough to fit into a wristwatch and be powered from
a watch battery. Personal computers in various forms are icons of the Information Age and are

This effort was funded by ARPA (now DARPA), and the computer network that it produced was
called the ARPANET. The technologies that made the Arpanet possible spread and evolved. In time,
the network spread beyond academic and military institutions and became known as the Internet.
The emergence of networking involved a redefinition of the nature and boundaries of the computer.
Computer operating systems and applications were modified to include the ability to define and
access the resources of other computers on the network, such as peripheral devices, stored
information, and the like, as extensions of the resources of an individual computer. Initially these
facilities were available primarily to people working in high tech environments, but in the 1990s the
spread of applications like e mail and the World Wide Web, combined with the development of
cheap, fast networking technologies like Ethernet and ADSL saw computer networking become
almost ubiquitous. In fact, the number of computers that are networked is growing phenomenally.
A very large proportion of personal computers regularly connect to the Internet to communicate and
receive information. Wireless networking, often utilizing mobile phone networks, has meant
networking is becoming increasingly ubiquitous even in mobile computing environments.

Culture and Society in The Odyssey
Homer s epic poem, The Odyssey reveals many aspects of ancient Greek life and culture through
character and plot. Through each of the tales circling the life of Odysseus and the Greek people,
Homer depicts the history, legends, values, and merits of the ancient Greeks. Greek culture is
known to be one of the most flavored and thorough in history, and each facet of it from religion to
ideology to mentalities and beliefs.
The Greeks valued intelligence and wit very strongly. The Odysseyoffers countless examples of
this. In fact, Odysseus himself gets out of many tough situations and conquers many obstacles with
his wit and cleverness. He tells Polyphemos the Cyclopes that his name is Nobody and succeeds in

Feasting was commonplace at the time. In The Odyssey the suitors are constantly feasting, hosting
drinking contests, and so on.
Finally, perhaps the most vital and well known aspect of Greek culture is its religious beliefs and
ideologies. Deeply pious in the gods, the Greeks believed the Zeus guarded the world with other
Olympian gods, and these higher beings determined each individual s future. Fate and destiny
were believed in, and sacrifices were constantly committed in order to please the gods and gain
their favor. Prayers to the gods for aid and help were common. Prophecies were numerous,
although accurate ones were rare. And of course, the Greeks believed in the Underworld, a
dreadful land with Hades as its ruler. The Odyssey , being in a Greek lifestyle, is naturally filled
with references to these religious beliefs and thoughts. Odysseus and his companions often made
sacrifices to the gods. He visits the Underworld to speak with the blind prophet Tiresias who
accurately predicts Odysseus s travels. Because of the prophet s words, Odysseus is able to make
his journey safely.
As for a general point of view on life, the Greeks were extremely optimistic. They believed strongly
in the strength of justice and that righteousness would always prevail over evil. They believed that
determination and endurance would always win in the end. Homer constantly refers to this broad,
universal point in The Odyssey with the triumph of Odysseus over the

What Is Harper Lee s Intentions Good

bad, but In Harper Lee s, To Kill a Mockingbird she imposes that deep down all people are good.
In Harper Lee s, To Kill a Mockingbird she imposes that deep down all people are good. She first
introduced characters as sometimes judgemental then later showed they were not all judgemental
and could even empathize with their worst enemies. At the beginning of the novel, Harper Lee
introduces the town with all of its bad attributes first. She focused on the racism and prejudice the
town displayed for example, when Scout judged Walter Cunningham based on how he ate at their
dinner table (32). Harper Lee was showing us how Scout was judging Walter because he ate
differently and didn t understand that Walter knew no manners. Later in the chapter, Atticus
explained to Scout how You never really understand a person until you consider things from his
point of view (39). After Atticus had explained this to Scout, she started to understand that different
does not equal bad. Harper Lee is illustrating to us that even though Scout judged Walter, she grew
to know him and even further, accept him. This showed us that deep down Scout is good and...

Essay on Dental Amalgam
Dental Amalgam Amalgam dental restorations which are also known as silver fillings are the
number one choice for restoring teeth. These silver fillings have been used for over a hundred
years to fill in cavities where there has been tooth decay. The question many have is what is dental
amalgam? Dental amalgamis a mixture of materials containing powdered alloy, metals and mercury.
There have been some concerns, however about the safety of this mercury containing filling
material. Amalgam is in the same safety class as gold and composite fillings (FDA) and does not
pose the safety concerns as once thought. Compared to other dental materials, such as composite
and glass ionomer, amalgam is the most studied and tested. (NCAHF) Many... Show more content

In order to have enough retention for the crown to stay in place, a build up is done on the tooth
before the crown is made. Also, when using an amalgam alloy for a filling, not as much natural
tooth structure has to be removed in order to place the filling. Whereas, when using a composite
filling, also known as tooth colored or a white filling, the retention of the filling requires
removal of more tooth structure in order to have the filling stay in place. Also, there is a
concern by some dentists about the longevity of composite fillings. Replacing fillings can get
quite expensive for the patients and is not a very cost effective choice. Most insurance
companies will not cover the costs of having tooth colored fillings placed, but they will pay for
amalgams, which is another good reason for using amalgam. When a filling lasts longer and
does not need to be replaced as often, it is much more cost effective for the patient. There are
other facts to take into consideration. Patients who have poor oral hygiene are great candidates
for amalgam fillings. (CDC). Amalgam tends to arrest decay and this is extremely helpful for a
patient who has poor oral hygiene and is cavity prone. Silver fillings are more affordable (ADA)
than composite, insurance companies will recognize them and they are safe. There has been quite a
controversy on whether dental amalgam is safe for the patients as well as the practitioners who

Analysis Of The Last Man By Thomas Campbell Essay
The Encompassing of Solitude and the Manifesting of a Post Apocalyptic Prediction The Earth s
apparent boundary between tangible existence and conceptual objectives consequently ignites
curiosity throughout humanity, while the beckoning of man kind s search for reason throughout
the unexplained components of life, thus, has become inevitable. In contrasting demeanor, some
individual beings have lavished in the comfort that is granted to them through faith and religion.
The repression of one s inquisitive behavior reaps growth in acceptance of trivial mysteries
regarding life. Likely, humanreactions to genuine solitude vary and are ultimately subjective in
accordance to each human s differing perception. Debuting during the Revolutionary era in
literature, The Last Man by Thomas Campbell embraced societal speculation, and provided
interesting documentation that regarded the termination of the human race. The narrator of
Campbell s poem, who presumably lacks the mortal conditions of the human species, garners a
pessimistic outlook upon the forced separation between he and all mortal beings. Opposing
Campbell s dreary attitudes on the topic, Wordsworth delivered a speaker within his poem titled I
Wandered Lonely as a Cloud who insistently, and gleefully observed and portrayed nature from an
area of chosen detachment. Within these poems, Wordsworth and Campbell centralized the concept
of the complete isolation of man from all but the nature that surrounds him. In

  • 2. Case Study Mercedes Strategic Architecture: Once the undisputed leader in the luxury car market, Mercedes Benz India (MBIL) is currently facing stiff competition from its aggressive rivals BMW and Audi. Bernhard Kern, who recently took over as the chief of MBIL, points out that it also reflects the absence of Mercedes cars in some segments, unlike its peers. I have a very different picture (of the rankings) because in the saloon and luxury SUVs, Mercedes is leading in India. We are not in some segments like smaller SUVs. There are some gaps but we will close the gap, says Kern. The A class and diesel version of the B class are part of MBIL s play against its peers at the lower part of the premium and luxury car market. Given the challenges and opportunities in India, 49 year old Kern, a 30 year Mercedes veteran, has his task cut out. He plans to drive MBIL s next phase of growth based on four pillars: new products, total cost of ownership, driving programmes and a robust network. These steps are being planned to strengthen connect with existing customers, and rope in new ones, especially first time buyers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The perception and expectations of the flight attendants was constantly changing. For years prior to the civil rights movement, Delta imposed strict rules on the women to include prohibition of children and marriage fearing such would interfere with work. As an added bonus, Delta used the women s availability as a way to lure businessmen to fly with Delta to be able to pick up eligible women (Whitelegg, 2011). According to one flight attendant, being associated with the airlines turned out to be a happy hunting ground for marriage partners for lots of young men and women with healthy hormones and honorable intentions (Whitelegg, 2005, p.16). Recognizing this, the image of the flight attendants become provocative as their uniforms became less formal. However, women still found their jobs were liberating because they were breaking the traditional model and perception of women s place in society. Delta s corporate social responsibility was not questioned because the social etiquette for young women during this time was to get married. According to Nelson amp; Quick, ethical conduct at the individual level can translate into social responsibility at the organizational level (p.60). • 4. Alfred Hitchcock Identity And Identity The greatest art in films is by the means of the ability to create an emotion in the viewers of the film and by the means of and imagery. Alfred Hitchcock, for long time, has been a household name since he began filmmaking. Hitchcock has been able to accumulate a well known and distinct cinematic techniques making him stand out as one of the best filmmakers around the globe. What makes Hitchcock s films must watch movies are how he draws his viewers emotion and leave them in suspense (Maher 246). Hitchcock s The Birds is an American horror filmdropped in 1963. The film is loosely based on the 1952 story of Daphne Du Maurierand focuses on a sudden series, unexplained powerful and violent birds attacking the people of Bodega Bay (Maher 247). In this movie, the fact that viewers do not get to know the details of the birds makes it an interesting but a suspense film, which evokes thoughts of the audience to know much about the birds. On the other hand, Identity, which was directed by James Mangold in 2003, revolves around the life of ten people who seeks refuge in an isolated motel when a vicious storm breaks out in the desert of Nevada (Falsafi, Khorashad, and Khorashad 2521). As they seek refuge, a serious murderer, Taylor Vince awaits his execution for killing a group of motel guests. This paper, using terminology resources and cinematic techniques, seeks to expatriate the similar technique styles adopted in the two films to enhance suspense. The cinematic techniques ... • 5. Jean-Jacques Rousseau s The State of War Essay Jean Jacques Rousseau s The State of War Jean Jacques Rousseau s The State of War elegantly raises a model for confederative peace among the states of Europe, and then succinctly explains its impossibility. Rousseau very systematically lays out the benefits of such a perpetual peace through arguments based only in a realism of pure self interest, and then very elegantly and powerfully turns the inertia of the self interest machinery against the same to explain why it can never come to be. However, this final step may be a bit too far; in his academic zeal for the simple, I will argue that he has overlooked the real, or at least ignored the possible. His conclusion may be appealingly reasoned, but it is still insupportable. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While refuting the possibility that this international state of nature is a Hobbesian war of all against all [which would tend to the destruction of the species, an aim he finds both logically and religiously untenable (114)], he certainly acknowledges that conflicts occur even among actors whom we would call naturally virtuous В those seeking peace (112). This contradiction is problematic because the boundaries between the civil and the natural, the domestic and the international, overlap at times (112). For instance, war on the outside invariably affects the civic order on the inside. Because of this contradiction, we are forced to bear the burdens of supporting both orders separately, thus negating the advantages brought by either. We are subject to the vagaries of the international system when it affects civil life, and yet as individuals our hands are tied and we are unable to enjoy natural freedom ourselves because we are also subject to the authority, at times oppressive, of the civil domestic structures (which, as we have seen, fail to protect us from all international affects) (112). Even a state that hopes for the status quo can t count on it В because other states won t allow it to remain (114). Peace is often lacking even among virtuous actors, but peace and war are not dichotomous. A state of war results when two actors mutually decide that their existences are incompatible, and each coolly resolves to annihilate the other however possible, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The renaissance is an Italian idea, androgen the Italian Renaissance generally covers the periods from the beginning of the 14th century to the end of the 16th century. And florenceis the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. The artistic and economic changes that are associated with the Renaissance, first began in the Florence.Trade, crusades and the expansion of commerce in city states (11th and 12th ) centuries helped florence a lot in economy. Essay on Ethos, Pathos, Logos Kings Letter to Birmingham Ethos, Pathos amp; Logos in The Letter from Birmingham Jail Some varieties of inspiration come as passionate love while others appeal as injustice as did Martin Luther King in his Letter from Birmingham Jail. Martin Luther King Jr. effectively crafted his counter argument by first directly addressing his audience, the clergymen, and then using logos, pathos, and ethos to refute his opponent s statements and present his own perspective. After stating the general purpose of his letter, Martin Luther King Jr. specifically addressed the clergymen to set up for his logical counterargument. • 8. Euripides As A Tragic Tragedy The Big Three of Greek tragedy has always been Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides. As a late comer to the stage of tragedy in comparison to the others, Euripides formed his reputation by building off the works of others. For instance, in Hekabe, Euripides incorporated already known characters and concepts from The Orestia written by Aeschylus. Despite the fact that Euripides appears to build off the work of others, Aristotle honors him with the title of the most tragic playwright. Euripides stood out by using a novel structure for tragedy. In a typical tragedy, the protagonist is the central characterin the play and an antagonist brings about the suffering and downfall of the protagonist, which the audience is supposed to pity. Euripides breaks from this archaic model by producing tragedies without a clear antagonist. Without this pivotal character role, the play is able to take on a more tragic persona. Aristotle expresses his thoughts about tragedy in his book Poetics. In the chapter titled The Best Kinds of Tragic Plot, Aristotle dives into how a plot should be structured (page 20, Poetics). Aristotle believes a simplistic plot structure using common households is best (page 20, Poetics). He uses Euripides as an example of what to do, stating that those who criticize his work for using already established characters are making a mistake. Euripides utilizes the audience s background knowledge of his characters to his advantage. He is able to embellish his plays by alluding to references already known to the audience to further the plot. For example, in Hekabe, during the sacrifice of Polyxena there were parallels to the sacrifice of Agamemnon s daughter Iphigenia. This detail in the play builds Agamemnon s character without going off on a long anecdote about his past. Aristotle believed that despite Euripides s incorporation of already established characters, it was the structure of his plots which allows him to be regarded as the most tragic of poets. (page 22, Poetics). As previously stated, Euripides distinguishes himself from other playwrights by embracing a unique style of having unclear antagonistic roles. His play Hekabe is a perfect example because the antagonistic role is obscure. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Paget s Disease Of Bone Paget s disease of bone (PDB), also known as osteitis deformans, is named after Sir James Paget, an English surgeon, who first described the disease in 1877. Since then, research has determined that 15% to 40% of cases are inherited and the balance is thought to be caused by exposure to a slow viruses like human respiratory syncytial virus or canine distemper virus, however, symptoms may not appear for many years afterward. In about half of cases that are hereditary, a mutated gene has been isolated that is known to cause osteoclasts to become rogue and un regulated. PDB causes long bones to grow unnaturally long causing pain and osteoarthritis, hearing loss and nervous systems disorders from pressure on the brain caused by cranium overgrowth,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, characteristic x ray signatures and elevated total alkaline phos phatase (ALP) levels confirm the disease and bone scans and individual bone x rays determine the extent of damaged areas. However, total ALP levels remain within reference levels as long as the disease is monostotic, that is, involving a single bone. Total ALP is not a marker until remodeling has gone far astray in several bones that are grossly misshapen. And, because it is widely recognized that prevalence and severity of PDB is decreasing in the world population, total ALP levels remain within reference ranges far longer, making anecdotal discovery rare. Although there is no cure for PDB, early detection is vital for commencement of diet, exercise, and drug regimens that significantly mitigate debilitating symptoms and disease progression. Per Magnusson, Michael Davie and Christopher Sharp compared total ALP and three isoforms of ALP (B/I, B1, B2) of 37 patients with various stages of PDB and a control group of 66 healthy patients. Their findings revealed that the B2 isoform of ALP is increased in asymptomatic PDB patients with a validity of 80% on a characteristic comparison curve of true postive to false positive ratios. High bone B2 isoform ALP levels may be of use in early discovery, however, only total ALP levels are routinely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Evil Vs Secularism The issue of evil is the favorite point on which secularists hang their atheistic argument. The secularist rejection is based on the supposed contradiction of the existence of a God, who is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent on the one hand, and the existence of evil, on the other hand. Epicurus stated the incompatibility of belief in a God with those attributes against the undeniable reality of evil this way: God either wishes to take away evils, and is unable; or he is able and unwilling; or he is either willing nor able, or he is both willing and able. Epicurus then attempts to work out each of the stated possibilities in the following way: 1.If God is willing and is unable, he is feeble, which is not in accordance with the character of God. 2.If he is able and unwilling, he is envious [meaning: evil], which is equally at variance with God. 3.If he is neither willing nor able he is both envious [meaning evil] and feeble, and therefore not God. 4.If he is both willing and able, which alone is suitable to God, from what source then are evils or why does he not remove them? The Christian explanation for the issue of evil can be broken into two major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... God is truly the only essential and genuinely free being in the universe. Dr. Waita rightly points out that the issue of evil becomes tricky when we render our theology theocentric, dragging God to the court of human reason to answer for his actions. Since God is the only truly free being, he was free and very justified in creating various angelic beings as well as humans. God decided to create them with freewill instead of being robotic in nature. Because God gave them freewill and intellect, they could experience self will, emotion, and creativity. • 11. Carpe Diem Analysis Aaron Jeu Ms. Wagner English 1B 22 June 2017 Rough Draft: Life and Death Carpe Diem is a Latin phrase, which often tends to denote a significant literary theme found in popular culture, including Peter Weir s Dead Poets Society or Green Day s song, Carpe Diem. However, it is also especially common in lyrical poetry. According to Oxford Dictionary, it is used [as encouragement] to make the most of the present life while it lasts or live for the moment. Both Dylan Thomas s Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night and Robert Frost s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening explore the notion that individuals should endeavor life to its fullest. In his poem, Thomas expresses a very passionate, pleading voice to deeply allure his audience. In contrast, Frost communicates his approach in a more pensive, practical, subtle style that slyly provokes the audience to think about their own fate. The collective theme of the two poems is similar in that both explain that death is imminent, that individuals should not take for granted the time they have left on Earth, and that people need courage to face death, and to realize that death can wait. However, Thomas utilizes an ardent, compelling tone to assert his beliefs that individuals should partake in a more dynamic role and embrace what will happen to them during their lives. On the contrary, Frost believes that every human has a timely death and that people should strive to fulfill their commissions before giving in to death. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This line shows that there is two very strong sides to Blake s thinking. Why would God create such a terrifying creature, as the tiger, when it only causes harm? In The Lamb, Blake describes Godas meek and mild. However, if God is meek and mild, how could He possible create such a beast? As many read these two poems, they step back and wonder, which side do they follow? Should we believe God to be all good, or is there a darker side to this story? German physiologist Johannes Muller in his doctrine of specific nerve energies described a kind of code which is anatomical. In his doctrine, Muller explains that different sensory modalities exist because signals received by the sense organs stimulate different nerve pathways that lead to different areas of the brain. For example, when the ear receives signals, these signals cause impulses to travel along the auditory nerve to the auditory cortex. And signals from the eye cause impulses to travel along the optic nerve to the visual cortex. Because of these anatomical differences, light... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, the global increase of death and disease can be largely attributed to the illegal use of drugs (Illicit Use of Drugs, 2013). Though the rates of illegal drug use have remained constant in recent years, there has been a shift in the use of specific drugs (Illicit Use of Drugs, 2013). One drugthat has received a lot of attention due to an apparent increase in usage is Methamphetamine. Methamphetamine is a highly addictive stimulantdrug that has been a source of controversy within Australia. Though the usage of methamphetamine in Australia has remained constant over the past few years, there has been a significant change in the preferred form of the drug (Illicit Use of Drugs, 2013). For example, the usage of methamphetamine powder saw a significant decrease from 2010 to 2013. In contrast, the use of the crystalline form more commonly know as ice nearly doubled in the same time frame (Illicit Use of Drugs, 2013). Due to the increase of ice usage, as well as the highly addictive nature of the drug, many are concerned that Australia is in the midst of an ice epidemic. • 28. Aerobic And Anaerobic Cellular Respiration Aerobic and Anaerobic Cellular Respiration Respiration describes sequences of enzyme catalysed biochemical reactions within cells to produce life sustaining energy (Turtle, 2015). Muscle activity relies on biochemical energy from Adenosine triphosphate (ATP), a high energy molecule in cells which stores and supplies energy. To make ATP, a muscle cell (Myocyte) utilises Oxygen provided by Myoglobin (a muscle fibre oxygen binding protein) and breaks down glucose in aerobic cellular respiration. The chemical reaction yields Carbon dioxide, water and energy. Structure of glucose molecule (BBC, 2014) Glucose (C6H12O6) + Oxygen (6O2) = Carbon dioxide (6CO2) + Water (6H2O) + ATP Energy To yield energy ATP is broken down, with the aid of ATPases, into Adenosine diphosphate (ADP), a phosphate and energy. The first one was the moment as she ran along side her daughter teaching her to ride a bike, which symbolizes how the speaker has raised her daughter and was with her through all the wobbles in her life. The second one is the daughter rides further and further away on the bike, the speaker is growing more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Memi And Sabu Comparison Sculpture is a fascinating form of art because it documents the human experience going far back before languages were developed to convey meaning. In the case of the Egyptian statute of Memi and Sabu as well as Gudea from ancient Mesopotamia each culture was advanced enough to use hieroglyphic scripture and yet they still cultivated these careful representations of important people from the time. Although they come from different corners of the globe they have many similarities, perhaps even more in common than they have different. As we explore both statues the principles of design, including line, texture, shape and technique make it apparent how intelligent these civilizations were and how much care and pride went into them. Memi and Sabu clearly have an intimate relationship and unlike Gudea, great detail has gone into shaping the contours and details of their bodies. One can see the feminine slope of Sabu s torso making her much more delicate and small in comparison to her partner. We can see the muscular detail of Memi s arms, as well as his legs and even his knobby knees. The couple s value is much lighter compared to Gudea giving the impression that the sculpture carries a lighter mass overall. There is also a much greater sense of space and depth between the two. Memi and Sabu look almost as if they could come to life and walk right off the slab they were carved, but Gudea feels more cemented. He is formed from much darker stone and is fully clothed, giving him a sense of weight and importance. His texture is different too, pitted and much shallower. • 33. Hip Hop And The Music Genre What is Hip Hop? According to Encyclopedia Britannica, Hip Hop can be delineated as a music genre consisting of a stylized rhythmic music that commonly accompanies rapping, a rhythmic and rhyming speech that is chanted.1 Originating from a disparaged subculture in the South Bronx and eagerly spreading through other sectors of New York City during the 1970 s, Hip Hop evolved from formerly being a relatively fraudulent style to currently being a commercialized and disseminated music genre among diverse areas around the globe. Hip hop s evolution into a composition distinct from R B ensued around the time that drum machines and sampling technology became widely available to the general public at a financially affordable cost for the average consumer. Turntablist techniques (i.e. scratching, beat mixing, matching, and beat juggling) ultimately developed along with the breaks, producing a base that could be rapped over, in a manner similar to signifying, as well as percussive breaks (an influence found in Jamaican dub music). The art of manipulating sound and creating illustrious music were few of the techniques that identified the aeon of the hip hop genre: Three of whom will be presented The Diamond Era (1983 1988), The Golden Era (1989 1993), and The Silver Age (1994 1998). To commence, the first era (The Diamond Era) arose in the year 1983. Although Hip Hop emerged before 1983, The Diamond era predates the introduction of a new foundation to the hip hop genre with ... For those that are countably infinite, exhibit a one to one correspondence between the set of positive integers and that set. a. The integers greater than 10. This is countably infinite. Starting from the first integer greater than 10, which is 11, one can infinitely count upwards since there is no boundary on the right side of the number line for this instance. The equation Ж’(x) = x + 11 can be used to show a one to one correspondence. x: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ... Ж’(x): 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 ... b. The odd negative integers. This is countably infinite. We can arrange the numbers in a 2 dimensional table as follows: Thus we have shown that our set is the countable union of countable sets (each of the countable sets is one row of this table). Therefore by Exercise 27, the entire set is countable. For an explicit correspondence with the positive integers, we can zigzag along the positive sloping diagonals as in Figure 3: 1↔ .1 , 2↔ 1.1 , 3↔.1, 4↔.11, 5↔1, and so on. d. The Mortality Rate Of Sex Workers Essay Regarding the mortality rate of sex workers, One study found that workplace murder risk is 51 times greater [for prostitutes] than for the next most dangerous profession which is operating a liquor store (Dir. Because prostitution is ultimately seen as a consensual profession, some may interpret this information with indifference, believing that the sex workers were willing participants. More often than not, however, sex workers are being coerced into the industry by some form of force; leading them to be exploited for physical and economic gain. In order to convince someone that the prostitutionindustry influences the victimization of women, I would need to counteract the notions endowed onto us by society that lead people to believe that prostitution is a fair system. Ethnomethodology, Symbolic interaction, and conflict theory have contributed to the the false impression of sex workers endorsed by the mainstream. Ethnomethodology is the study of everyday actions of people as an expression of their reality. Every reality contains five features that describe how one s perspective is maintained and occasionally transformed. In order to change the reality of people who believe that sex workers are independently engaging in prostitution, I would need to address the five features of reality. The first feature, reflexivity, states that reality is maintained by the process of absorbing interactions and bending them to fit one s incorrigible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Albatross The particular meaning of death is evidently endless, and with the limitless range of possibilities that follow along with it comes with no amazement that the death scenes in literature sometimes create the most significant themes in their relevant stories. One similar case to this would be the death of the Albatross, in the poem The Rime of the Ancient Marinerby Samuel Taylor Coleridge. In the poem, the Mariner carelessly shots the Albatross, guiding him and his men, without giving any good reasons why he did so. This can be related to religion because the Albatross represents Christ because he was our one and only option at achieving eternal life in Heaven, even after man continued to torture him. The Albatross was the crew s one and only chance at salvation from the icy region, but the Mariner destroys all their chances after killing the bird. Even in today s world of political correctness, there is still a very large gender bias when it comes to certain things, such as Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The number of men in the field is much higher than the number of women. Women, for the most part, are looked at as not being as capable of performing what is required of an Emergency Medical Technician(EMT) or a Paramedic as men are. It does not make sense that college athletes are not paid because these athletes are the sole reason for popularity in the college athletic apparel market, which brings in millions of dollars a year, yet college athletes do not see a dime, even though they are the reason for sold jerseys and other apparel. A standard deviation close to zero tells you the data points are close to the meanor average. Having a high standard deviation shows data points are spread out over a wider range of values. This indicates that India s future energy requirements are going to be very high and solar energy can be one of the efficient and eco friendly ways to meet the same. Solar thermal power generation technologies Solar Thermal Power systems, also known as Concentrating Solar Power systems, use concentrated solar radiation as a high temperature energy source to produce electricity using thermal route. Since the average operating temperature of stationary non concentrating collectors is low (max up to 1200C) as compared to the desirable input temperatures of heat engines (above 3000C), the concentrating collectors are used for such applications. These technologies are appropriate for applications where direct solar radiation is high. The mechanism of conversion of solar to electricity is fundamentally similar to the traditional thermal power plants except use of solar energy as source of heat. In the basic process of conversion of solar into heat energy, an incident solar irradiance is collected and concentrated by concentrating solar collectors or mirrors, and generated heat is used to heat the thermic fluids such as heat transfer oils, air or water/steam, depending on the plant design, acts as heat carrier and/or as storage media. The hot thermic fluid is used to generated steam or hot gases, which are then used to operate a heat engine. In these systems, the efficiency of the collector reduces marginally as its operating ... But most importantly it is based on the convention that the Northern hemisphere is at the top of the world, and the Southern hemisphere is at the bottom . Such an assumption is made mainly out of habit, but it is also a topic of contradictory ideas. It is inaccurate to assume that the Northern hemisphere should be on top, for depending on which angle one looks at the Earth, the Southern hemisphere is on top.
