Analysis Of Black Forest Christian Fellowship
As one enters Black Forest Christian Fellowship s building, a school auditorium, the first thing he
would notice was the talking. Groups of people are gathered throughout the building, conversing
animatedly; they are mostly white and young. No one sits alone. Floor to ceiling windows fill the
auditorium with welcoming light as slides flash on the screen announcing events coming up during the
next month: mostly fellowship picnics and guest speakers. The worship band quietly gathers onstage,
and the worship leader, a tall man in his fifties, plays a few notes on the baby grand piano. Everyone
moves to their seats like clockwork, still whispering amongst themselves. One of the church s pastors
greets everyone with prayer and announcements, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the songs to the preaching to the prayers BFCF sets itself apart as a place for loyalists,
Christians who already know what they re looking for in a church. The songs and prayer specifically
appeal to more Christians seeking fellowship and growth with an emotional undertone. Unbelievers
would be welcome, but they would feel out of place, especially due to BFCF s overarching views on
culture. Black Forest Christian Fellowship makes their cultural views clear from the first song. They
sing about winning the nation back, begging God to set their hearts on fire for Him. Even the sermon
illustration about comic books begs the question as to why Christians are spending so much time and
effort on the things of the world. They believe there is hope for the culture, but that God must bring
about change. Seclusion is not preached, but there is a distinct separation between church and culture.
And while some of the songs, sans lyrics, could easily be the background to a song playing on the
radio, the lyrics are distinctly worshipful. Black Forest Christian Fellowship is attempting to be in the
world but not of it, strengthening already converted Christians in their faith. It utilizes aspects of the
culture, such as music, but it is not incredibly involved in evangelism on a church basis. Certainly,
members of the church are highly involved in evangelizing the community. Some are even
missionaries. It is simply a church not for

Getting to Yes Negotiaion Exercise

Master of Criminal Justice Administration (M.C.J.A.) Andrew W. Darlington March 24, 2011
Negotiations occur in our everyday lives, both in our professional and personal experiences. We must
learn to master the art of negotiation not only to get the things we want, but to assist us in dealing with
people and separating the person from the problem. One suggested way to do this in the text Getting to
Yes: Negotiating Agreement Without Giving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After taking who the defendant in the case was out of the equation, I next focused on the interests not
the positions. It is good to see someone who has victimized others to be locked away for as long as
possible and receive a just punishment . As part of the second step, my ultimate goal was to ensure
that David received a fair punishment and reduced his likelihood of recidivism for similar actions. The
third step involves inventing options for mutual gain. In this type of situation you do not want the
defendant to gain anything, but if the defense does not feel they are getting something in return it can
drag out the legal process and frustrate both parties. I examined the charges and determined which
were the most important and what the ultimate results I wanted from this plea agreement. In the fourth
step I used an objective criterion. What do others in this type of situation receive in punishment for
these types of crimes? I knew that probation was unacceptable, and that I had to make a suggestion of
what a fair amount of incarceration would be based on impartial sources of state code and precedent
(Fisher, Ury, Patton, 1991). During the negotiation, I attempted to ensure that there were no
misunderstandings or emotions that would obstruct agreements or reinforce prejudices. I wanted to
ensure that not only the other side, but also the prosecutor and judge in the case understood my
perception and basis for

Tale Of Two Cities Resurrection
The book Tale of Two Cities has is a book of resurrection and death. My character in the book, Roger
Cly, is an example of resurrection. In the book he is a spy for both the English and French. Cly plays a
small part in the book, but his purpose is to make Jerry Cruncher a better person and to help Darnay
escape quartering, death. The first time Roger is mentioned in the book if when Charles Darnay if on
trial for allegedly being a French spy. Cly says that he began working for the prisoner, Darnay, four
years ago. But initially became suspicious when, In arranging his clothes, while travelling, he had seen
similar lists to these in the prisoner s pockets, over and over again, and that he had seen the prisoner
show these identical lists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But he has a dark side, because during the night he is out robbing graves. During this time in history
people were buried along with some jewelry and other valuable things they owned. People like
Cruncher would go dig them back up and take these valuables; they were called grave robbers. It was
an illegal business and looked down upon by most people. At one point in the story Jarvis Lorry, Jerry
Cruncher s boss, accuses him of robbing graves and says he will lose his job when they got back to
London. This is the point where Jerry basically begs for Jarvis to at least keep his son hired to run
errands and messages for Tellson s. This gives us a sense that deep down Cruncher is a family man,
and that maybe he robs the graves to support is family. The last time we anything about Roger Cly is
near the end of the book when Charles Darnay is a prisoner at La Force; we never actually see him
again. He was brought up in a conversation between John Barsad, Jerry Cruncher, and Sydney Carton.
In this conversation we find out a couple of pivotal pieces in the story like how Roger Cly wasn t
really dead, and how John Barsad is actually John Solomon, the brother of Ms.

Percy Bysshe Shelley, Percy Wordsworth And Ode To The West...
When readers think of romantic poems, poets such as William Blake, William Wordsworth, and
Samuel Taylor Coleridge comes to mind. These poets had an instinctive feeling that they were chosen
to direct others through the French Revolution. In the early 1820 s, the great age of English romantic
poetry ended with Shelley. He was also a supporter of the French Revolution, hoping that he too could
bring on a political change by regenerating mankind spiritually. Shelley spoke of high praise about
poets, saying: They measure the circumference and sound the depths of human nature with a
comprehensive and all penetrating spirit... . Shelley, along with the rest of the poets, inspired others to
speak out against what is wrong, and they continue to this day to influence pop culture. It is important
to realize that PB Shelley was one of many revolutionary writers. by analyzing two of his poems,
Song to the Men of England and Ode to the West Wind, it will provide us with the evidence needed to
support Shelley as a revolutionary writer. Percy Bysshe Shelley, the rebellion against authority, was an
English poet that focused on romanticism, but many of his work concerns protest and revolution. This
could be because the romantic age in the 1800 s was filled with turmoil. Many poets amongst Shelley,
were desired to write about social injustice, inequality, and politics in their poems. Shelley strongly
believed that expressing those factors into poetry would make people and

Artemis
There are many wonders in the world, but there are only a select few known as the Seven Wonders of
the Ancient World. Those ancient wonders are as follows: the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, the Great
Pyramid of Giza, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Lighthouse of
Alexandria, the Colossus of Rhodes, and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Unfortunately, there is not
a surplus of information on some of these wonders, so this paper will only talk of a select few. The
Temple of Artemis was once a spectacular temple designed with a mixture of Classic Greek and near
Egyptian styles. It was the first temple to be made entirely out of marble and was one of the largest
greek temples at 377 feet in length by 180 feet wide. It was built of marshy grounds ... Show more

The art inside the temple consisted of bronze sculptures of Amazon warriors and several paintings.
The temple was located in Ephesus, modern day Turkey. The temple was built at a commercial
crossroad and, because of this, the temple had many visitors of various religious beliefs. According to
the Penelope website, these visitors were the reason that the cult of Artemis that worshipped at the
temple, incorporated elements of worship from other religions into their version of Artemis. For
example, the statue of Artemis had many breasts and her legs tapered together like a sarcophagus,
neither of which were typical Greek customs (penelope.edu). The greek version of Artemis was a
goddess of hunting and of maidans, but the Ephesus version was the goddess of fertility and birth. The
Temple of Artemis went through many destructions and many reconstructions. According to the
Ancient Origins website, the temple was built by the Amazons as they were hiding from a god.

Selma Our lives are not fully lived if we re not willing to die for those we love, for what we believe.
This quote was said by Martin Luther King Jr during the film Selma, and epitomizes his determination
presented in the film. Selma, produced in 2014 and directed by Ava DuVernay is an extraordinary
film. This film tells about King and supporters determination to obtain equal voting rights for African

Race Theories And Its Consequences
Race has evolved through the scientific endeavor to forward knowledge, from a categorisation of
people based on geographic origin and physical traits, to a hierarchical concept that is used as a tool to
racially vilify, discriminate and marginalize particular races. The term race was introduced in the 16th
century and referred to a group category of people (Smedley, 1999). From then, the concept of race
was scrutinized and redefined by the western world. America bought about the concept of race present
in modern day, however the intellectual framework that served as a guide was European (Brace,
2005). Understanding of the evolution of race theories and its consequences are crucial to analyse how
contemporary Indigenous Peoples are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the use of visual art to portray ideas is more connected to Indigenous cultures than imposed
western political and academic settings. This essay will critically discuss the work of Carl Linnaeus,
Johann Friedrich Blumenbach and Charles Darwin in defining race and its application to Indigenous
Australians. Followed by, analysis of the works of contemporary artists, Richard Bell, Bindi Cole,
Bronwyn Bancroft, Daniel Boyd, Michael Riley, Gordon Bennett and Lin Onus in challenging the
effects social constructions of race have had on Indigenous peoples. These issues include authenticity,
homogenous stereotyping, racial hierarchy and discrimination.
Carolus Linnaeus (1707 78), a Swedish botanist, physician and zoologist, is known for his taxonomic
system, which laid the foundations of the modern biological categorization (Brace, 2005). His
ambition was to make order the chaos of biological life based on distinctiveness and established
categories of generic and specific names. It divided humans into six categories; four based on
geographic location, and Homo ferus (wild man) and homo monstrosus (monster man) (Fish, 2011).
He further tried to make scientific sense of life by assigning traits to each of these categories. Racial
stereotyping has derived from this concept of Linnaeus taxonomy, with static conceptions of a
particular race that does not allow for individual variation and intergradations (Fish, 2011). Australia
was colonized at a time

Essay On Lobbyist And Advocate
Nurses do more than simply care for the ill, they promote health and wellbeing as well as prevention
of disease. In addition, nurses help mold policies, laws, and educate legislators about society s needs.
In my discussion I will define compare and contrast a lobbyists and advocate. I will also discuss their
importance and two nursing organizations that assist in changing healthcare policies. A lobbyist is a
person that represents a group of individuals or organizations that attempts to influence legislators to
make or oppose laws in favor of these groups (Nies McEwen, 2015). Legislators rely heavy upon
lobbyists to education them with accurate and current information on the issues that are important in
society today. Consequently, an advocate means to speak on someone else s behalf or for them. Nurses

Allowing the nursing body to better make decisions and take the lead in policy making initiatives.
Through these initiatives this organization, is able to assist the nursing body in achieving the core
principles of nursing excellence (National League of Nurses, 2016). They rely on grassroots advocates
to raise the awareness of certain issues. As a grass root advocate, they influence legislation and the
society at large via way of general public, not lobbyists, to contact legislators in attempt to make a
change. In conclusion, both lobbyists and advocates are needed to change policies that affect every
person in regard to healthcare. Although both have the same intentions their methods to arriving at the
needed change are different. Although some nurses never realized their importance in politics and

Infanticide Essay
In Warren s article concerning infanticide and her view on the issue, she makes it clear to make a
distinct separation from her stance regarding abortion since people have thought that her article on
abortion led to a similar belief about infanticide. Because abortion and infanticide are so closely
related, Warren wanted to discuss how they should be treated as morally different situations. She
explains that infanticide is not the same as abortion, since the fetus has already been born. Thus, once
the infant is born, it no longer is violating any rights against the mother since she does not have the
physical connection to the baby as she did when it was inside of her. The baby would not technically

In the online story, the issue of apathy regarding abortion is focused on by the author, saying that too
many people lack sympathy for both survivors of abortion, botched abortions, as well as the fetuses
that are aborted and have had their organs harvested and sold. The article includes quotes from two
women that survived attempted abortion procedures, which incline readers to sympathize with them as
well as be more open to their beliefs regarding abortion since they have a direct connection to it. This
emotional draw is used with seemingly true facts plus a religious push that together make a
compelling reason to believe abortion is immoral. Throughout the article, it mentions the harvesting
and selling of fetal organs, in this case a brain, but the author makes it seem like centers that perform
abortion, such as Planned Parenthood, do so in order to only make simply make a profit in order to
benefit themselves however, this is not the case as I learned by researching the topic. Planned
Parenthood states that they only extract fetal tissue with full, appropriate consent from patients and
under the highest ethical and legal standards. There is no financial benefit for tissue donation for either
the patient or for Planned Parenthood (Levitan, 2015). They do not sell fetal organs in order to make

The Lion King Essay
Disney s success continued in adapting their hit animated film into a theatrical phenomenon. I finally

The Lion King was a festive and fantastic production. The success relied heavily on its use of masks
and costumes to make the production a complete musical. For starters, director Julie Taymor turned
the cartoon movie s story into a musical that takes not only the movie, but also the concept of
theatrical spectacle to a new level. The cartoon characters have been reinvented with wildly
imaginative masks and puppets, (co designed by Michael Curry) with actors and mask/puppets clearly

Welfare Against Mandatory Minimum Law
Families Against Mandatory Minimum also known as FAMM advocate for smart sentencing such as
individualized and fair criminal sentencing that protect the public. FAMM is nonprofit supported by
attorneys, judges, criminal justice experts and concerned citizens. Their objectives include:
uncrowding jails, which use citizens tax money, shift resources from uncrowded jails due to excessive
incarceration to other departments such as law enforcement and additional programs whose aims
include reducing crime and recidivism, and lastly, encourage individuals who have suffered from
mandatory minimum sentencing and whose lives have been harmed by these practices to be
constructive. To achieve their goal of fair sentencing, FAMM advocates for their objectives on a state
and national level. Sometimes FAMM gets involved in appeals and works with lawyers, however most
of the time FAMM just does presentations for governmental positions such as Congress or the U.S.
Supreme court, asking for change. In addition, FAMM encourages people to call their local

Public Funding should not support Public Schools in Music and Arts
Education is one of the major problems faced by US as a nation and several debates pertaining to
allocation of education funds are underway. The use of public education funds is one such matter
which is debated very highly. The consequences of public education fund s spending are long term
which makes this issue very important. Also, limited availability of public funds makes it essential for
these funds to be used in a manner which are more beneficial. The essays will discusses why public
funds should not supporting arts and music education and the social impact.

These parents regard playing a musical instrument as a highly difficult and demanding task. This
implies that those students who aim to get good grades with music are likely to receive very poor
grades in other conventional subjects. therefore, should not have compulsory status in public schools
which are funded by taxpayers resources. Further, it is argued that the standard curriculum teaches
abstract reasoning, mathematics, sciences and medicine which has great value, even if the skills
acquired are not, thereafter, directly usable in everyday life. The study of arts and music gives no
practical application. The objective of public education funds must be of helping students to develop
valuable skills for their practical lives. It is believed that the study of mathematics, language, science,
etc. provides both useable knowledge and abstract skills.
The paper discussed why public funds should not support arts and music education and evaluated the
assertion that education for arts and music is a less useful allocation of educational resources than
traditional subjects. It is concluded that the cost for provision of arts and music education in public
school system is very high. Further, it is discussed that eliminating music education from the
curriculum of public schools would enable

Leadership Interview
For my leadership interview, I chose my cousin Angie. She is a chemical engineer, and I chose her
because she has always been someone I have looked up to. She is similar to me in that she is science
oriented and enjoys problem solving. She is also very confident and outgoing, and those are some of
the things that I would like to work on in myself. When someone asks me a question, nine times out of
ten, I will say the answer and then add, ...but I am not 100% sure . I think that I leader needs to
possess confidence, especially when they are answering questions and making decisions. I am trying
to work on that myself, and I thought that talking to Angie would be helpful for me. Angie is the

At first, she had a pretty tough time coming up with an answer. This was sort of a relief because it
showed me that even someone who has a successful leadership reputation has trouble putting into
words exactly what leadership is. Angie said that leadership, for her, is seeing the value that your team
brings to the table, and recognizing that you cannot complete all projects or fix all problems on your
own. She said leadership is about nurturing each individual s strengths while making sure your efforts
are cohesive and working toward the same goal. I liked her definition because I am the type of person
that wants to fix every problem. I am working on learning to accept that I cannot fix everything, but as
a leader, I can work with other people to accomplish whatever goal we set to the best of our

Ho How The Other Half Lives Summary
Riis, Jacob How the Other Half Lives New York: Charles Scribner s Sons, 1890. In 1890, Jacob Riis, a
Danish immigrant worked as a police reporter and photographic journalist in New York City. How the
Other Half Lives, prompted legislative reforms, focused attention on the desperate lives of poor urban
immigrants and left an enduring mark on the history of documentary photography. (NY TIMES).
During this time, America was going through social and economic stress due to rapid industrialization.
It was a time full of greed and neglect from the wealthier class leaving the middle and poor class
helpless and suffering day to day. Jacob Riis used his photography to document real lives that were
being affected by this crisis and presented these photos to the public to open their eyes to what was
going on. The economy, society, and government started to be controlled by large corporations who
were owned by immigrants filled with greed and materialism. With this industrialization, Riis
documented the over worked lower class who were given low wages and placed in overpriced slums.
The real world did not notice the truth behind this madness until Riis s photography opened their eyes.

Essay on American Schools Need Music Education
American Schools Need Music Education
For years, I have studied music. I cannot picture my life without it. In my schooling, I participated in
various orchestras and choirs, learning eight different instruments along the way. It was my high
school music program that instilled a passion for music inside me. Not only did I enjoy attending my
music classes in high school, but I enjoyed all my classes, a fact that many of my peers cannot claim.
Learning how to think as a musician has also taught me how to think as a mathematician, a writer, a
scholar, and as a future educator.
Most people are not aware of the advantages children have in after taking classes in the arts. These

Essay on Personality Analysis
Abstract The purpose of this paper is to discuss characteristics of my personality. The main focus of
this paper will be how my personality has developed over time. As I age and encounter new and
different experiences, my personality has adapted and developed further. This paper will give an in
depth exploration into the people and events that have influenced my personality. Personality is
defined as a) the sum total of the physical, mental, emotional, and social characteristics of an
individual. b) the organized pattern of behavioral characteristics of the individual (Dictionary.com,
2010). Whether we realize it or not, personality defines us as people. There are many facets to my

I had to step out of my comfort zone and do what needed to be done in order to reach my goals. On
the graduate level, I find that it is easier to be an introvert and participate. Once the human element is
taken away, I can find myself being open. I do not see my classmates face to face so I can allow
myself to say things that I ordinarily would not do or say. As I have gotten older, some of the
introversion has faded to a certain extent, but it is still present. Through my job as a Special Education
Teacher, I have had to overcome a majority of my introversion so I can effectively do my job. On any
given day, I will have to speak to not only my students but also the office staff, coworkers, and
possibly some of the children s parents. Conversation goes both ways, so to be successful at my job; I
would have to be willing to be open and communicate with others more. I also have to realize that I

going to have to go to others. Another characteristic of my personality is care. Despite my ever present
introversion, I have always harbored a deep care for most people. Early in my childhood, my parents

The Role Of Playing Game ( Mmorpg )
Runescape is one of the first massive multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) that many
gamers have started with. Released in 2001, there were no games like it out there for its time. For
many of us gamers, Runescape was the beginning of an amazing journey. The game was free to play
on your web browser, no download necessary. Once your account was created you were able to start
your adventure in the exploration of Runescape, there is no better game you can get lost in. Runescape
is the missing piece of achievement, adventure, and connection that you are searching for. The concept
of the game was revolutionary from the questing to the combat system. Players would have complete
control on what they wanted to do. There was a ray of activities such as what type of combat, crafting,
merchanting, cooking, mining, hunting, and many others. With each milestone you hit a player would
feel a sense of accomplishment. The longer it took to reach that goal the more satisfying it was. This
sense of achievement was what all of us craved. For many players this system of gameplay at this
level was never seen before. We were used to the console games such as Zelda or Super Mario that
had a set storyline to follow and a goal to reach, once completed the game was over. Unlike the typical
game of the time Runescape was a never ending story. There was always something to achieve and
conquer within the game setting it apart from Zelda and Super Mario. Each day there is always

Red Tide Research Paper
Madison Easterbrook David Fugate OCE 3008C April 25, 2016 Red Tide in West Florida Red tide is a
very serious issue that severely affects the West Coast of Florida. Red tide is defined as a toxic bloom
in red dinoflagellates. It has major impacts on its surroundings. Algal species that have harmful effects
are commonly referred to as Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs). Toxic red tide is threatening tourism in
West Florida as well as wildlife, specifically the endangered manatees as it extends down the Florida
coast. When conditions are right, dinoflagellates will bloom in very large numbers. Red tides name
comes from the color that the blooms give the water when there are high concentrations of algae. Don

Oxygen depletion will create stress which can take years to recover. These HABs can also suppress
mammalian immune functions which results in mass mortalities of dolphins and manatees. This can be
seen by a significant reduction in manatee lymphocytes in cell culture that are exposed to these toxins.
With all of this evidence of the negative impacts of these toxins, it shows the need to recognize these
biotoxins as significant stressors within south west Florida coastal ecosystems. HABs in Florida have
had a major impact on seabirds in the west Florida area. Seabirds that were admitted for rehabilitation
in 2005 2006 after a severe bloom on the west coast of Florida showed signs of disorientation,
inability to stand, and seizures. Scientists tested the blood, biologic fluids, and tissues of the seabirds
in search of brevetoxin, and found that 69% of the seabirds tested had this toxin present in their
bodies. The four species that were most affected were the Double crested Cormorants, Brown
Pelicans, Great Blue Herons, and Common Loons. Through blood and fecal samples taken from
several of the seabirds during rehabilitation, it was found that the brevetoxin was expelled from their
bodies within 5 19 after being admitted to the rehabilitation facility. In the seabirds that died, high

Identity Of The American Identity
The American culture is made up of bits and pieces combined into one American Identity. Throughout
the process of finding this identity, came with courage, religion, and fear. These three concepts
provide compelling examples and experiences that have shaped Americans into the best country there
is. Having courage in life is often half the battle. John Smith encounters so many hardships that prove
he dares to keep pursuing his goal. Eventually, after defeating and beheading a succession of three
Turkish officers in single combat in Rumania, Smith was wounded in battle, taken as a prisoner and
sold into slavery to a Turk. Smith was passed from place to place until held prisoner on the Black Sea,
he murdered his master and fled back to Rumania via Russia and Poland, returning to England in the
winter of 1604 05. (Smith, pp. 82). Most people at this point would typically become slightly
discouraged because he has gotten beaten up and is questioning if he can accomplish this or fail. The
lesson we should take from Smith in this story is that no matter how hard things get if you have a goal
achieve it. There will defiantly be hardships that come your way, but nothing in this life comes easy.
For example, the British encounter many hardships such as hunger, sickness, and unfamiliarity. Being
thrown into adapting to new situations is often hard. The natives saw many things they were not

that he has to be the opposite of his father. This means he has to be hardworking. The clan also expects
him to be a man and perform the duties expected. The combination of him resenting his father and the
clan s expectations is what causes him to be headstrong. Even though The Good Earth and Things Fall

he sees it as the most important object in his life. Okonkwo is also trying to get more land and crops to
increase his status in clan. As you can see everything is going well for the two, but then disaster struck

Food, noun, is any nutritious substance that people or animals eat or drink in order to maintain life and
growth. Many people don t know a lot about where their food came from and who makes it, but there
is way more behind the food. Working conditions are a huge problem across the country and world.
To start with, many workers get injured and sick doing this job. There are many reports about body
parts getting amputated during the meat process, but the factory kept running and the limb was sold to
the public. The book Chew on This has a list of injuries that includes: Employee s Eye Injured When
Struck By Hanging Hook, Employee Killed When Head Crushed by Conveyor, and many more.
Employees are also susceptive to get many diseases from touching the raw meat. Some of these
diseases are brucellosis, erysipeloid, leptospirosis, and dermatophytosis. ... Show more content on

The production lines go fast so they can keep up or beat their competitors and a result of that is all the

Lastly, some workers aren t allowed to take a break just to use the restrooms. Some of the employees
are forced to pee on the floor near the meat that people would eat soon. And they are still working, so
they don t have enough time to stop and wash their hands which is another problem with the assembly
line going so fast.

The issue of personal privacy should alarm Americans to focus on established privacy in America,
infringements on privacy and efforts aiming at protecting personal information in lieu of a right to
privacy.
Privacy has been legally established in the United States over the course of its history mostly through
Congressional Acts and Supreme Court decisions: specific privacy rights are not stated in the
Constitution, and several amendments have been interpreted as giving privacy rights. In 1974
Congress passed into law the Privacy Act, which protects records that can be retrieved by personal
identifiers such as a name, social security number, or other identifying number or symbol, and also
grants access to personal information for the purpose of correcting any inaccuracies. While the act
prevents the disclosure of personal information, this stipulation has twelve exceptions; furthermore,
only Federal databases are subject to the Privacy Act. Considering the liberties given to citizens by the
Act and its two significant shortcomings, it hardly established the protection of Privacy in America.
Credit reports, bank accounts and medical history are some examples of personal information not
covered by the Privacy Act, in addition to any data local or state governments and businesses collect.

Natural Rights Vs Transcendentalism Essay
The American philosophy of the 18 century emerged as an outstanding phenomenon that has made an
immense contribution to the development of the American state. The two most prominent personalities
with respect to the development of philosophical ideas were Thomas Jefferson and Ralf Waldo
Emerson with their theories of natural rights and the view of Transcendentalism respectively. While
both of their philosophies have developed to become equally important as a basis of the American
country, its principles of life, and the idea of an American person, they reflect on rather different
aspects and promote quite different outlooks on the personality. The theory of transcendentalism
promotes an idea that a person is complete in himself or herself and needs to listen to his or her
intuition and to act in a harmonious way. The idea of natural rights, in contrast to the previous one,
refers to the existence of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The natural rights by Jefferson proclaim that the rights are given by God, and people are not
empowered to break them. At the same time, transcendentalism was developed as a search for
spirituality and the revealing of religion. They examined the role of religion in the life of people and
sought for the ways to reach actual spirituality that, according to transcendentalists, was hidden in the
person s thoughts and soul. At the same time, the transcendentalism and natural rights tend to be rather
different. For example, while transcendentalism promotes intuition and personal thoughts as the basis
for behavior, the theory of natural rights puts the essential rights of people in the center and claims
that all interactions should be based on it. Hence, the transcendentalists might be said to promote the
strong idea of individualism that might have negative implications for the society while the natural
rights theory provides a basis for the harmonious relationship among the people within the

Weeping Shades of Cozened Indigo
Schizophrenia is present within 1.1% of people worldwide, regardless of economic, ethnic, or racial
background. Schizophrenia is a debilitating mental illness that is a culmination of many symptoms
related to mental illnesses, there is no cure. Holden is seen as an outsider but not entirely a pariah, but
he appears to be off in his behavior. In the novel The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger,Holden
appears to have symptoms of schizophrenia such as delusions, lack of pleasure or interest in life, and
disorganized speech.
Ideas can be creative, they can be revolutionary, and sometimes they can be delusions leading
someone over a metaphorical cliff. A possible explanation for Holden s delusion is schizophrenia,
being that they are a symptom of the disorder. But for a symptom to attribute to a disorder, it has to be
prevalent enough. Holden clinging to his vision of being the catcher in the rye seems irrelevant at first,
but when that s all he d want to do all day (Salinger 173) one might question just how deep the roots
of his vision go. Holden was obsessed with a song that was actually a poem he mistook the wording
of. Then he took that idea and personified it in his own imagination as a literal interpretation. Finally,
he pursued the manifestation and strove to be a modern day catcher in the rye a protector of
innocence. As appointed catcher in the rye by

Regression Method Essay
The traditional method for the determination of the time lag resorts to a limited portion of the
downstream pressure rise curve to perform the required extrapolation to the time axis. When a
numerical model is available, an alternative method to obtain the membrane properties is to fit the
variation of the pressure change in the downstream reservoir as a function of time using a nonlinear
least squares method [30]. By minimizing the sum of squares of the differences between the
experimental data and the numerical model, the optimal combination of S and D can be obtained. The
nonlinear regression method has three advantages in diminishing the noise effect: 1) it uses the whole
range of pressure data instead of only the quasi steady state ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The details of the CV system used in this work are described elsewhere [15,16]. The design of the
downstream compartment allows varying the volume for gas accumulation from 77.6×10 6 m3 to
1009.7×10 6 m3; at the same time, the effects of resistance to gas accumulation reported in ref. [31
33] are minimized. The absolute pressure transducer (MKS model 627B11TBC1B) to monitor gas
accumulation operates in a range of 0 to 1333 Pa (10 torr), with an accuracy of 0.0133 Pa (0.0001 torr)
and a maximum error of 0.12% of the pressure reading. This level of precision is typical of the best
precision from pressure transducers currently available on the market. Prior to each experiment, the
system is evacuated using a rotary vacuum pump (Edwards model RV3) for at least 48 h, and just
before the experiment, leak tests for both upstream and downstream sides of the membrane are
performed. During the leak tests, the vacuum pump is disconnected from the system and gas
accumulation (if any) in the downstream reservoir is monitored for a period of time (from 20 minutes
to 1 hour depending on the duration of the experiment). The membrane used in the tests was a solution
cast, high molecular polyphenylene oxide (PPO) film prepared by a spin coating technique. The
details of membrane preparation are described elsewhere [34]. Other relevant experimental parameters

Analysis Of The Article A Modest Proposal
The article A Modest Proposal is a proposal made by a man named Jonathan Swift who is also known
for Gulliver s Travels which is another well spoken essay of satire. When the people of Dublin are
suffering from poverty and overpopulation, Swift writes up a satirical hyperbole that mocks the
heartless Irish attitudes towards the poor. The bottleneck effect of people was so dreadful that all the
Catholic families of Dublin were not able to support their own children. Due to these conditions Swift
writes this proposal to end the kingdom s issues in a serious but derisive way. All of his solutions tend
to be ethically wrong, but he backs up his solutions with statistical facts. Swift s proposal is a satire
made to jolt the people of Dublin, Ireland into understanding the growing issues the kingdom faces
with poverty and overpopulation. Swift s method of choice for a long term elucidation is to turn the
Dubliner s problems into their own solution. The proposal consists of feeding the fattened up children
of the poor and selling them to the rich citizens of the kingdom as food. Swift states that doing this
will help relieve families from paying for expensive children, decrease overpopulation, add culinary
values, increase employment, and will overall add to the economic status of the kingdom. Swift
concludes his proposal saying that it is in his greatest interest that his proposal does not take effect,
and that his only motives are improving the public good of his country,

Paul begins chapter twelve of second Corinthians in a very interesting fashion; he begins to relate an
experience of a person that had a vision of heaven and indirectly implies it is himself. Then he seems
to think better of going into detail about this vision and transitions into why he must be humble and
how the Lord had given him a thorn in the flesh to keep him humble. Of such a one will I glory yet of
myself I will glory not, but in my infirmities of this verse Gill states he [Paul] might lawfully glory of
such a person so highly exalted and favoured, yet since this was his own case, he chose to forbear, and

Godbey adamantly believed that Paul s aliment was physical not spiritual. He felt that Paul was
troubled by a physical problem because Paul called it his thorn in the flesh equating the term flesh
with the mortal body. Godbey also draws out an important clue from this passage; he shows that Paul
willingly identified that he had human weaknesses and limitations as the result of the Fall. Godbey
asserts I am satisfied that this thorn in the flesh was ocular feebleness which was the most prominent
infirmity in his life. He goes on to build a case as to why he believes this was Paul s infirmity. He cites
Galatians 4:15 Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been
possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me which seems to imply
that the Galatians would have relieved Paul of his eye failure if they were able to. Godbey also
mentions that Paul was an avid scholar and reader in his early years which would have taken a
tremendous toll on his eyes because of the poor light in those days and the sheer volume of reading
Paul devoured. Third Paul was blinded by a fierce light on the Damascus road when he encountered
Christ and although he was later healed by Ananias Godbey advocates that Paul had suffered with

goals of teaching through number talk sessions are to help students compute with accuracy, efficiency,
and flexibility (5). Chapter one gives examples of how to highlight different strategies. For example, it
was helpful to me to see the adding up strategy highlighted by a number line. I often use this strategy
myself with subtraction (only because I took MA 316). I believe there is a great need in every
elementary class for number talks. I took MA 316 and in doing so it was very eye opening. Growing
up, I was taught math through standard algorithms. I was always amazed how other people just
seemed to be good at computing numbers in their head. If I tried, I would visualize the problem
vertically and try to solve it by the algorithm that I had been taught. I did not have an understanding of
the number relationships in depth. I have a daughter in the second grade. I know by observing her ...

In chapter two, it stated how important errors are in helping to clear up misconceptions One rule in
math that I have learned and love is that it is always okay to change your mind. As a student thinks
through a problem and self corrects then learning is taking place. In addition, number talks is
invaluable in teaching children how to articulate their thinking while they defend their answer. In
addition, it is important that children have time to turn and talk to their partner to share their thinking
process. This will help students who are reluctant to share with the whole

Argumentative Analysis Of Nova Scotia s Music Industry
The music industry has undergone radical changes since the end of the 1990 s, largely a function of
the internet and its effects on sales and copyright. Besides placing artists and their music on the world
stage, the internet also permitted the downloading of music from free file exchange networks. A
parallel and equally worrisome, phenomenon is record pirating, a practice made easier by the
proliferation of CD burners and access to high speed internet. Unauthorized downloading and pirating
circumvent intellectual property laws and result in reduced sales. In Atlantic Canada, average annual
household expenditures on CDs and audio cassettes dropped by 27 percent between 1996 and 2001,
from $96.00 to $70.00.
The data on employment in the music industry do not take into account the many artists for whom
singing and music are secondary occupations.
The music industry, like many other culture sectors, includes commercial activities for which no
revenues are declared or that do not appear in statistics. For example, Atlantic ... Show more content

Without a tax credit, Nova Scotia risks seeing our artists choose to record in other provinces already
offering such programs, such as Ontario.
We ve seen the success of the film tax credit and what it has meant to that particular industry here in
Nova Scotia this will inject the same momentum into our already highly regarded music industry. This
bill is a winner for government and will unquestionably deliver a net benefit to Nova Scotia. Now that
s music to our ears.
Shortly after this announcement, the present government under Stephen MacNeil reduced the film tax
credit significantly causing a huge uproar in the creative culture sector. The chances of the present
provincial government looking at a tax credit model for the music sector could be very slim.

Williams Honors College Experience Essay
The Williams Honors College was extremely influential in my college experience. The Williams
Honors College provided me with peers, mentors, and experiences that allowed me to have an
unforgettable college experience.
My first experience with the University of Akron was through an Honors Scholarship Friday. When I
came to campus for that event as a high school senior, I went through a series of interviews. These
interviews, despite being nerve wracking, provided me with a first hand opportunity to interact with
and ask questions about the Honors College at the University of Akron. As someone who was very
interested in studying business, I had my heart set on Miami University. My mind quickly opened
after my exposure to the then University ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this lesson in mind, I joined the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, which deepened my friendships and
enthusiasm for service. Through Phi Delta Theta, I also had a chance to meet passionate University of
Akron alumni who deepened my commitment to the Akron community. I also sought out internships
earlier than most students in my field, and was able to complete two before entering my senior year.
During the summer following my sophomore year, I was honored to have the opportunity to complete
an internship with the J.M. Smucker Company. More recently, I completed an internship with Ernst
Young, LLP, one of the four largest professional services firms in the world, where I will be working
full time upon graduation. I would not have had the knowledge or the confidence to pursue these
opportunities without the mentoring I received through the Williams Honors College.
Though the Williams Honors College had a tremendous impact on my undergraduate days, I am very
excited about how it will impact my future. The Honors College has deepened my commitment to the
University of Akron and the greater Akron community. Though neither of my parents are from Akron,
they moved me here when I was two years old. Akron is my home and my time at the University has
secured my roots. I am appreciative of everything the Williams Honors College has given me, and I
cannot wait to give some of that back to the University of Akron and the Williams Honors College in

Dale Carnegie s How To Win Friends And Influence People
The German writer Franz Kafka once said, A book should serve as the ax for the frozen sea within us.
Kafka is saying that a novel presents a medium for people to connect to millions of thoughts, words,
and actions all around us. I believe that opening a book exposes a person s mind to the ever changing
world around us that is the blessing of a novel. How to Win Friends and Influence People (1936) by
Dale Carnegie has served as a manual for people of all ages to learn the art of communicating
effectively with others. The novel incorporates evidence from psychologists as well as short narratives
in order to relay the multitude of themes and ideas found in the book. Throughout his work, Carnegie
s themes prove to be omniscient in three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dale Carnegie gives the narrative of Charles Schwab, who was appointed president of the United
States Steel Company by mogul Andrew Carnegie. Author Dale Carnegie says that Mr. Schwab s 1921
fecund salary of $1,000,000 was not granted because of Schwab s knowledge of the steel industry, but
rather, because of his ability to deal with people and get workers to perform to the best of their
abilities. Schwab says, The greatest asset I possess, and the way to develop the best that is in a person
is by appreciation and encouragement. In Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, the theme of showing
appreciation and encouragement is prevalent at the end of the novel, when the African American
community presents Atticus with gifts for defending their own, Tom Robinson, in the trial of an
alleged rape against a white woman. Tom Robinson s family, friends, supporters, and acquaintances
send Atticus roasted chicken, rolls, hunks of salt pork, tomatoes, beans, scuppernongs, and pickled
pigs knuckles enough food to bury the family. To this, Atticus responds by breaking down in tears of
joy because he understands how much he meant to their community. He simply felt appreciated. How

appreciation can

Feminism And The Second Wave Feminism
There was a strong and invigorated feminists movement in America from 1960s into the 1980s which
was later spread into Europe and parts of Asia. Compare to first wave feminism in which advocates
sought for women suffrage, this feminist movement, which had a broader and deeper influence,
focused on dealing with issues which hindered legal sexual equality, rights to reproduce as well as
family roles. This feminism movement is named the Second wave feminism. It was politically
powerful and influential that it obtained significant gains including the pass of the Equal Pay Act in
1963, Title IX of the Educational Amendments in 1972 (Title IX prohibited discrimination by sex in
educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance), and in 1973, the Roe v. Wade
case which disallowed state laws prohibiting abortion during the first three month of pregnancy, and
slowly equalized the balance between two genders in workforce positions. Women gain tremendous
power: women s share of lawyers more than quadrupled, of economists more than tripled, and of
police detectives more than doubled. This women s movement opened up public discussion of issues
previously seen in the grey area , and therefore out of the reach of public scrutiny. In the mean time,
the Congress sent the Equal Rights Amendment(ERA), which would benefit women, to the states for
ratification on March 22, 1972. Within a year, thirty states had ratified the ERA.
In the 80 s, however, feminists and

Lab Report Cell Diffusion
Lab Report Introduction: Background Information The plasma membrane of a cell is like the skin of a
human. It is selectively permeable which means it selects what it wants to allow into the cell and
blocks out what it doesn t want. The cell membrane is made up of a phospholipid bilayer which
contains 75% phospholipids, about 20% cholesterol and 5% glycolipids. Phospholipids are
amphipathic which means they contain both polar and non polar parts, these are their polar heads and
non polar tails. The lipid bilayer is like a sandwich in which the polar heads are the bread of the
sandwich and one slice of bread faces the extracellular fluid and the other faces the cytosol. The non
polar tails are like the contents inside of the sandwich. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It showed that if the pore of a membrane is not large enough, diffusion will not occur. However, if the
pore was large enough and diffusion subsequently occurred, the rate of diffusion was the same even if
the molecular weight cut off (pore size) was bigger. The following solutes and their simple diffusion
data will be explained in order from smallest to largest, smallest being one that was able to fit through
smaller a pore size.
NaCl was able to diffuse starting at 50 MWCO and the pore size there after did not affect the rate of
diffusion, (0.0150 mM/min) which stayed was the same. Urea was not able to diffuse until 100
MWCO and the rate of diffusion stayed the same at 0.0094 mM/min. Glucose was able to diffuse only
at a 200 MWCO and Albumin was too large to fit through any of the pore sizes and did not diffuse.
Activity two: Simulating Facilitated Diffusion
This activity did support the hypothesis which was that the rate of diffusion increases when the
quantity of carrier proteins increases. One thing to be noted is that when the glucose concentration was
increased the rate of diffusion also increased which was not something that was expected. However if
there are not enough carrier proteins available to combine with the solute not all of the solute will be
transported/diffused down the concentration

  • 2. Analysis Of Black Forest Christian Fellowship As one enters Black Forest Christian Fellowship s building, a school auditorium, the first thing he would notice was the talking. Groups of people are gathered throughout the building, conversing animatedly; they are mostly white and young. No one sits alone. Floor to ceiling windows fill the auditorium with welcoming light as slides flash on the screen announcing events coming up during the next month: mostly fellowship picnics and guest speakers. The worship band quietly gathers onstage, and the worship leader, a tall man in his fifties, plays a few notes on the baby grand piano. Everyone moves to their seats like clockwork, still whispering amongst themselves. One of the church s pastors greets everyone with prayer and announcements, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the songs to the preaching to the prayers BFCF sets itself apart as a place for loyalists, Christians who already know what they re looking for in a church. The songs and prayer specifically appeal to more Christians seeking fellowship and growth with an emotional undertone. Unbelievers would be welcome, but they would feel out of place, especially due to BFCF s overarching views on culture. Black Forest Christian Fellowship makes their cultural views clear from the first song. They sing about winning the nation back, begging God to set their hearts on fire for Him. Even the sermon illustration about comic books begs the question as to why Christians are spending so much time and effort on the things of the world. They believe there is hope for the culture, but that God must bring about change. Seclusion is not preached, but there is a distinct separation between church and culture. And while some of the songs, sans lyrics, could easily be the background to a song playing on the radio, the lyrics are distinctly worshipful. Black Forest Christian Fellowship is attempting to be in the world but not of it, strengthening already converted Christians in their faith. It utilizes aspects of the culture, such as music, but it is not incredibly involved in evangelism on a church basis. Certainly, members of the church are highly involved in evangelizing the community. Some are even missionaries. It is simply a church not for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Darlington Student ID 112635 Mountain State University School of Graduate Studies GCJA 504 Transforming Organizational Cultures Spring 2011 Semester Submitted in Partial Fulfillment Getting to Yes Without Giving In Negotiation Exercise For Program Requirements Of Master of Criminal Justice Administration (M.C.J.A.) Andrew W. Darlington March 24, 2011 Negotiations occur in our everyday lives, both in our professional and personal experiences. We must learn to master the art of negotiation not only to get the things we want, but to assist us in dealing with people and separating the person from the problem. After taking who the defendant in the case was out of the equation, I next focused on the interests not the positions. It is good to see someone who has victimized others to be locked away for as long as possible and receive a just punishment . As part of the second step, my ultimate goal was to ensure that David received a fair punishment and reduced his likelihood of recidivism for similar actions. The third step involves inventing options for mutual gain. In this type of situation you do not want the defendant to gain anything, but if the defense does not feel they are getting something in return it can drag out the legal process and frustrate both parties. I examined the charges and determined which were the most important and what the ultimate results I wanted from this plea agreement. In the fourth step I used an objective criterion. What do others in this type of situation receive in punishment for these types of crimes? I knew that probation was unacceptable, and that I had to make a suggestion of what a fair amount of incarceration would be based on impartial sources of state code and precedent (Fisher, Ury, Patton, 1991). During the negotiation, I attempted to ensure that there were no misunderstandings or emotions that would obstruct agreements or reinforce prejudices. I wanted to ensure that not only the other side, but also the prosecutor and judge in the case understood my perception and basis for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the book he is a spy for both the English and French. Cly plays a small part in the book, but his purpose is to make Jerry Cruncher a better person and to help Darnay escape quartering, death. The first time Roger is mentioned in the book if when Charles Darnay if on trial for allegedly being a French spy. Cly says that he began working for the prisoner, Darnay, four years ago. During this time in history people were buried along with some jewelry and other valuable things they owned. People like Cruncher would go dig them back up and take these valuables; they were called grave robbers. It was an illegal business and looked down upon by most people. At one point in the story Jarvis Lorry, Jerry Cruncher s boss, accuses him of robbing graves and says he will lose his job when they got back to London. This is the point where Jerry basically begs for Jarvis to at least keep his son hired to run errands and messages for Tellson s. This gives us a sense that deep down Cruncher is a family man, and that maybe he robs the graves to support is family. The last time we anything about Roger Cly is near the end of the book when Charles Darnay is a prisoner at La Force; we never actually see him again. He was brought up in a conversation between John Barsad, Jerry Cruncher, and Sydney Carton. • 5. Percy Bysshe Shelley, Percy Wordsworth And Ode To The West... When readers think of romantic poems, poets such as William Blake, William Wordsworth, and Samuel Taylor Coleridge comes to mind. These poets had an instinctive feeling that they were chosen to direct others through the French Revolution. In the early 1820 s, the great age of English romantic poetry ended with Shelley. He was also a supporter of the French Revolution, hoping that he too could bring on a political change by regenerating mankind spiritually. Shelley spoke of high praise about poets, saying: They measure the circumference and sound the depths of human nature with a comprehensive and all penetrating spirit... . Shelley, along with the rest of the poets, inspired others to speak out against what is wrong, and they continue to this day to influence pop culture. It is important to realize that PB Shelley was one of many revolutionary writers. by analyzing two of his poems, Song to the Men of England and Ode to the West Wind, it will provide us with the evidence needed to support Shelley as a revolutionary writer. Percy Bysshe Shelley, the rebellion against authority, was an English poet that focused on romanticism, but many of his work concerns protest and revolution. This could be because the romantic age in the 1800 s was filled with turmoil. Many poets amongst Shelley, were desired to write about social injustice, inequality, and politics in their poems. Shelley strongly believed that expressing those factors into poetry would make people and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Race Theories And Its Consequences Race has evolved through the scientific endeavor to forward knowledge, from a categorisation of people based on geographic origin and physical traits, to a hierarchical concept that is used as a tool to racially vilify, discriminate and marginalize particular races. The term race was introduced in the 16th century and referred to a group category of people (Smedley, 1999). From then, the concept of race was scrutinized and redefined by the western world. These issues include authenticity, homogenous stereotyping, racial hierarchy and discrimination. Carolus Linnaeus (1707 78), a Swedish botanist, physician and zoologist, is known for his taxonomic system, which laid the foundations of the modern biological categorization (Brace, 2005). His ambition was to make order the chaos of biological life based on distinctiveness and established categories of generic and specific names. It divided humans into six categories; four based on geographic location, and Homo ferus (wild man) and homo monstrosus (monster man) (Fish, 2011). He further tried to make scientific sense of life by assigning traits to each of these categories. A lobbyist is a person that represents a group of individuals or organizations that attempts to influence legislators to make or oppose laws in favor of these groups (Nies McEwen, 2015). Infanticide Essay In Warren s article concerning infanticide and her view on the issue, she makes it clear to make a distinct separation from her stance regarding abortion since people have thought that her article on abortion led to a similar belief about infanticide. Because abortion and infanticide are so closely related, Warren wanted to discuss how they should be treated as morally different situations. She explains that infanticide is not the same as abortion, since the fetus has already been born. When a numerical model is available, an alternative method to obtain the membrane properties is to fit the variation of the pressure change in the downstream reservoir as a function of time using a nonlinear least squares method [30]. By minimizing the sum of squares of the differences between the experimental data and the numerical model, the optimal combination of S and D can be obtained. • 36. Analysis Of The Article A Modest Proposal The article A Modest Proposal is a proposal made by a man named Jonathan Swift who is also known for Gulliver s Travels which is another well spoken essay of satire. When the people of Dublin are suffering from poverty and overpopulation, Swift writes up a satirical hyperbole that mocks the heartless Irish attitudes towards the poor. The bottleneck effect of people was so dreadful that all the Catholic families of Dublin were not able to support their own children. Due to these conditions Swift writes this proposal to end the kingdom s issues in a serious but derisive way. All of his solutions tend to be ethically wrong, but he backs up his solutions with statistical facts. Swift s proposal is a satire made to jolt the people of Dublin, Ireland into understanding the growing issues the kingdom faces with poverty and overpopulation. Swift s method of choice for a long term elucidation is to turn the Dubliner s problems into their own solution. The proposal consists of feeding the fattened up children of the poor and selling them to the rich citizens of the kingdom as food. Swift states that doing this will help relieve families from paying for expensive children, decrease overpopulation, add culinary values, increase employment, and will overall add to the economic status of the kingdom. Swift concludes his proposal saying that it is in his greatest interest that his proposal does not take effect, and that his only motives are improving the public good of his country, ... In spite of the fact that a religious development, the Awakening had ramifications in social and political circles also. Traditions of thoughtfulness and obligingness, the overseeing standards of life in the colonies, were put aside for a more difficult stage. The Great Awakening is generally partitioned into four times of American history. The initially happened while America was still a part of the English settlements. • 38. Second Corinthians Paul begins chapter twelve of second Corinthians in a very interesting fashion; he begins to relate an experience of a person that had a vision of heaven and indirectly implies it is himself. Then he seems to think better of going into detail about this vision and transitions into why he must be humble and how the Lord had given him a thorn in the flesh to keep him humble. Of such a one will I glory yet of myself I will glory not, but in my infirmities of this verse Gill states he [Paul] might lawfully glory of such a person so highly exalted and favoured, yet since this was his own case, he chose to forbear, and say no more of it: Paul seems to be rejoicing at the privilege that was given to him, yet he also seems to understand in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Godbey adamantly believed that Paul s aliment was physical not spiritual. He felt that Paul was troubled by a physical problem because Paul called it his thorn in the flesh equating the term flesh with the mortal body. Godbey also draws out an important clue from this passage; he shows that Paul willingly identified that he had human weaknesses and limitations as the result of the Fall. Godbey asserts I am satisfied that this thorn in the flesh was ocular feebleness which was the most prominent infirmity in his life. He goes on to build a case as to why he believes this was Paul s infirmity. He cites Galatians 4:15 Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me which seems to imply that the Galatians would have relieved Paul of his eye failure if they were able to. Godbey also mentions that Paul was an avid scholar and reader in his early years which would have taken a tremendous toll on his eyes because of the poor light in those days and the sheer volume of reading Paul devoured. Third Paul was blinded by a fierce light on the Damascus road when he encountered Christ and although he was later healed by Ananias Godbey advocates that Paul had suffered with poor eye sight until the day he ... Have you ever told yourself I can t do it or you just give up on the first try and never attempt it at all because it never worked? I bet the majority of us do several times. I enjoyed reading this article because it gives us tips on how to overcome this self doubt. Dr. Cynthia mentioned that as babies whether we fall tons of times trying to learn how to walk the thought of I can t is never in our minds. Perhaps, this is true because babies go through the process of learning until they are grown up the process slows down. • 40. Number Talks Summary Chapter one in the book Number Talks introduces the rationale for number talks and gives an overview of the basis of what a number talk would look like in a classroom. Number talks can be conducted in a small group or whole group setting. It is used to help children develop strategies for solving math problems and to deepen their understanding of numerical relationships. The three main goals of teaching through number talk sessions are to help students compute with accuracy, efficiency, and flexibility (5). Chapter one gives examples of how to highlight different strategies. For example, it was helpful to me to see the adding up strategy highlighted by a number line. I often use this strategy myself with subtraction (only because I took MA 316). I believe there is a great need in every elementary class for number talks. I took MA 316 and in doing so it was very eye opening. Growing up, I was taught math through standard algorithms. I was always amazed how other people just seemed to be good at computing numbers in their head. If I tried, I would visualize the problem vertically and try to solve it by the algorithm that I had been taught. I did not have an understanding of the number relationships in depth. • 41. Argumentative Analysis Of Nova Scotia s Music Industry The music industry has undergone radical changes since the end of the 1990 s, largely a function of the internet and its effects on sales and copyright. Besides placing artists and their music on the world stage, the internet also permitted the downloading of music from free file exchange networks. A parallel and equally worrisome, phenomenon is record pirating, a practice made easier by the proliferation of CD burners and access to high speed internet. Unauthorized downloading and pirating circumvent intellectual property laws and result in reduced sales. In Atlantic Canada, average annual household expenditures on CDs and audio cassettes dropped by 27 percent between 1996 and 2001, from $96.00 to $70.00. The data on employment in the music industry do not take into account the many artists for whom singing and music are secondary occupations. The music industry, like many other culture sectors, includes commercial activities for which no revenues are declared or that do not appear in statistics. For example, Atlantic ... • 46. Feminism And The Second Wave Feminism There was a strong and invigorated feminists movement in America from 1960s into the 1980s which was later spread into Europe and parts of Asia. Compare to first wave feminism in which advocates sought for women suffrage, this feminist movement, which had a broader and deeper influence, focused on dealing with issues which hindered legal sexual equality, rights to reproduce as well as family roles. This feminism movement is named the Second wave feminism. It was politically powerful and influential that it obtained significant gains including the pass of the Equal Pay Act in 1963, Title IX of the Educational Amendments in 1972 (Title IX prohibited discrimination by sex in educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance), and in 1973, the Roe v. Wade case which disallowed state laws prohibiting abortion during the first three month of pregnancy, and slowly equalized the balance between two genders in workforce positions. Women gain tremendous power: women s share of lawyers more than quadrupled, of economists more than tripled, and of police detectives more than doubled. This women s movement opened up public discussion of issues previously seen in the grey area , and therefore out of the reach of public scrutiny. In the mean time, the Congress sent the Equal Rights Amendment(ERA), which would benefit women, to the states for ratification on March 22, 1972. Within a year, thirty states had ratified the ERA. It is selectively permeable which means it selects what it wants to allow into the cell and blocks out what it doesn t want. The cell membrane is made up of a phospholipid bilayer which contains 75% phospholipids, about 20% cholesterol and 5% glycolipids. Phospholipids are amphipathic which means they contain both polar and non polar parts, these are their polar heads and non polar tails. The lipid bilayer is like a sandwich in which the polar heads are the bread of the sandwich and one slice of bread faces the extracellular fluid and the other faces the cytosol. The non polar tails are like the contents inside of the sandwich. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It showed that if the pore of a membrane is not large enough, diffusion will not occur. However, if the pore was large enough and diffusion subsequently occurred, the rate of diffusion was the same even if the molecular weight cut off (pore size) was bigger. The following solutes and their simple diffusion data will be explained in order from smallest to largest, smallest being one that was able to fit through smaller a pore size. NaCl was able to diffuse starting at 50 MWCO and the pore size there after did not affect the rate of diffusion, (0.0150 mM/min) which stayed was the same. Urea was not able to diffuse until 100 MWCO and the rate of diffusion stayed the same at 0.0094 mM/min. Glucose was able to diffuse only at a 200 MWCO and Albumin was too large to fit through any of the pore sizes and did not diffuse. Activity two: Simulating Facilitated Diffusion This activity did support the hypothesis which was that the rate of diffusion increases when the quantity of carrier proteins increases. One thing to be noted is that when the glucose concentration was increased the rate of diffusion also increased which was not something that was expected. However if there are not enough carrier proteins available to combine with the solute not all of the solute will be transported/diffused down the concentration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
