Case Study-Hershey
I. INTRODUCTION Think of Hershey Food Corporation and chocolate comes immediately to mind.
Hershey is the leading manufacturer of chocolate in North America but that is not all what Hershey is
all about. Considering the humble beginnings of its founder, Milton Hershey, Hershey Food
Corporation s success is as sweet as the chocolates it produces and as lovely as the candies it offers its
customers. But before gaining its sweet success, it had undergone business dilemma like bankruptcy.
But due to good governance, it was able to turn this dilemma to strengths. Its growth in its local
markets can be described to be vast. In a few years of establishment, it had large acquisitions of
different companies which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Almond Joy and others. It also purchased Nacional de Dulces and renamed this company Hershey
Mexico, which today produces, imports, and markets chocolate products for the Mexican market
under the Hershey brand name. In 1996, it gain market share leader in North America after acquiring
leaf North America. In 2004, Hershey acquired two firms: Grupo Lorena in Mexico and Mauna Loa
Macadamia Nut Corporation. Mauna Lao is the leading processor and marketer of macadamia snacks
and has an annual sales of about $80 Billion. Grupo Lorena, on the other hand, is the leader in Mexico
in the spicy candy market and has an annula sales of over $30 million. Hershey also manufactures and
markets grocery products. IV. COMPANY HISTORY Hershey Food Corporation was the result of
Milton Hershey s love for making candy which began with a child apprenticeship under candy maker

How Is Sound Used In Film
Sound has been used in films since the silent era to denote the change in mood and develop characters
actions through piano soundtracks played through the film. Better sound systems have developed with
time allowing for the use of actors voices and special sound effects. This has led to better diegetic
a¬¬nd non diegetic effects. Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Darjeeling Limited are films directed by Wes
Anderson released in 2009 and 2007 respectively. As shown below sound techniques were used to
develop themes, cue audience on acts they can t see and change mood in the films. Sound and its
absence in modern day cinema is considered as an effect to develop suspense as well as to indicate
whether within a story sound can be heard or not by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Darjeeling Limited the director shows the audience the culture shock the characters are going
through by changing the volume of the music. When the film starts a prologue can be heard that
introduces the audience to the setting. With the end of the prologue the movie plays Jalsaghar by
Satyajit Ray at a louder volume to shock the audience and show the change in culture (Gilbey, 2007).
The song has an Indian tune and playing it tells the audience that they should expect an Indian setting
as they watch the film. Prammagiore and Wallis say, Loudness usually connotes a character
experiencing intense emotion, such as anger, fear, or passion (247). The loudness of the music is
intended to let the audience experience the shock of the actors as they leave the common western
setting of American film to the Indian

Gogh And Vincent
The song Vincent by Don McLean makes the best connection to van Gogh and his artwork thanks to
several key observations. The other poetic responses to van Gogh s The Starry Night all lacked
enough evidence to convey a well supported message to the reader and were more poorly developed
than Vincent. A careful analysis of van Gogh and Vincent is necessary to see the various literary tools
McLean used to give an accurate and encompassing description of van Gogh and The
Starry Night.
On April 26, 2016, a study was performed on van Gogh s The Starry Night based on the similarity
between the artistic strokes van Gogh used in the psychotic period of his life and laminar flow and
turbulent flow. Using an approximate model for laminar flow estimation,

The chances of successfully enforcing the contractual agreement between Casino Ltd. and its
employees depends upon the issues raised, the rules and subsequent applications that could be
established by the trade union against Casino Ltd.
Issues 1. Whether Casino Ltd. (the parent company) and Caterers Ltd. (its wholly owned subsidiary
company) are considered as separate legal entities. Additionally, whether the concept of corporate veil
applies to the corporate groups (between Casino Ltd and Caterers Ltd). 2. Is it possible to lift or pierce

CA s596AB prohibits a person from entering into agreements with the intention of, or with intentions
that include the intention of: (a) Preventing the recovery of employees entitlements; or (b)
Significantly reducing the amount of entitlement that the employees can recover.
CA s596AC states that a person will be liable to pay compensation for contravention of s596AB: * to
employees who suffer loss or damage because of it * for actions taken to give effect to an agreement
or transaction involved in the contravention.
Applications
Casino Ltd. and Caterers Ltd. are separate legal entities. The fact that Casino Ltd wholly owns
Caterers Ltd. gives rise to the concept of corporate groups existing between the two companies.
Regardless of this, one company is separate from the other company and the concept of corporate veil
applies.
The court may pierce the corporate veil when there is an implied agency relationship inside the
corporate groups. By applying the 6 point test from SSK case in an orderly manner, Casino Ltd. may
have argued that the profits earned by Caterers Ltd. are separate from them, given that distribution was
made in the form of dividends. However, in reality the profits belong to Casino Ltd. This is because all
the profits are given to them and Caterers Ltd. gets nothing. This means that the first criterion is
satisfied. Additionally, since all the

Psychology Of The Piece Of Literature
Psychoanalysis is a type of criticism focused on the psychology of the piece of literature. Through the
analysis of the psychology behind a work, a conclusion can be made about it s meaning.
Psychoanalysis plays a huge role in the play Hamlet. In Hamlet, William Shakespeare utilizes id, ego,
superego, the oedipal complex, and depression to show how Old King Hamlet s murder and Gertrude
s marriage to Claudius causes Hamlet to eventually go mad.
Sigmund Freud coined the term Oedipal Complex to describe a phenomenon he observed where the
child has sexual feelings of desire for the parent of the opposite gender and has feelings of hostility
and jealously towards the parent of the same sex. The child feels as if they are in a competition with ...

Because of this fear, the boy develops castration anxiety. Since the father is receiving the attention of
the mother, the boy then sets out to become like the father. He imitates and partakes in dad type
behaviors. This act is referred to as identification and how the boy gets over the Oedipal Complex.
This phenomenon is shown through the play Hamlet. Hamlet is extremely jealous of the attention that
his mother, Gertrude, has shown to both his father, Old King Hamlet, and his uncle and new step
father, Claudius. Hamlet says,
Must I remember? Why, she would hang on him
As if increase of appetite had grown
By what it fed on, and yet, within a month
Let me not think on t. Frailty, thy name is woman!
A little month, or ere those shoes were old
With which she followed my poor father s body,
Like Niobe, all tears. Why she, even she
O God, a beast that wants discourse of reason
Would have mourned longer married with my uncle (Act I, scene ii, lines 143 153)
What Hamlet is saying in modern English, is that he does not want to remember that. His mother
would hang on to him (Old King Hamlet) and the more she was with him, the more she wanted of
him. But even though she could not get enough of Old King Hamlet when he was alive, she barely
even mourned. She was almost immediately married to Claudius. This quote from Hamlet is showing
how jealous he is of his mother and her affection towards both his

A Choppy Estuary And Pass Of Leny
The two pieces of artwork being compared in this paper are two different ships made via the use of
different mediums. These pieces, while similar in concept, are different in their executions. Through
these two pieces, people will see that the two different mediums can achieve similar lifelike results.
The first piece, A Choppy Estuary, created by Hulk Abraham, was created with the use of wet media,
this one being painted with oil paints. The picture consists of four ships, clouds, and some people on
nearby land. It uses various colors, with major focus on various reds and blues, to place emphasis on
the ship on the front right of the piece.
The second piece, Drawing of the ship Pass of Leny as a three masted square rigged sailing ship, is an
illustration created by dry media, this one using graphite pencils. It focuses on one ship, the Pass of
Leny. The creator of the illustration is unknown, but the piece is held by the John Oxley Library. ...

Gender Stereotypes In The United States Today
Gender stereotypes are present in the United States today. Women are only supposed to act in feminine
ways while men are only supposed to act in masculine ways. Women and men have different standards
when comparing one another. Men and women have different roles that society says is more feminine
or masculine. Gender stereotypes are present throughout any race. Race stereotypes are also a problem
today and still have their own gender stereotypes with in their culture. When people act outside what
society says those gender roles are, they are seen in a negative way. Society has determined what we
consider to be acceptable definition of feminine or masculine. Throughout history, gender stereotypes
have played a significant role in peoples lives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Society has defined what it means to be masculine or feminine. If people go against the gender roles
and the definitions society has set people are seen in a negative way. Gender stereotyping within
occupations is present in today s society. Men and women as supposed to be in occupations that fit
into the feminine or masculine definition. If someone goes against those definitions then people being
to stereotype a person just because of their occupation. Society has set the stereotype that women
should not be making the most money and should be taking care of the children. This stereotype has
been around a long time and still is present today. Adichie is an example of how gender stereotyping
plays a role in her life. People stereotyped her based on where she is from and what they have heard
without getting the correct information. Gender or skin color should not define who people are or what
they can do. Stereotypes do not define who we are. People should care more about who that person is
on the inside instead of judging them because of what s on the outside. No matter what gender, race,
religion you are it should not cause negative impacts in a person s life. Everyone deserves to be treated
equally no matter what the color of their skin is or their gender. To fix this problem people need to go
into situations with an open mind and no stereotypes that would cloud their judgment. No person
wants to be judged on stereotype

African Americans And Reconstruction Essay
Throughout the duration of the Civil War in 1861 to the 1920s, African Americans made significant
strides toward their advancement in America and toward equity with whites. After having being
subjected to white governance and enslaved for so long, their dependence generated a sense of
unfamiliarity with their newly acquired emancipation. This uncertainty sparked many debates
regarding the most effectual way to go about receiving their inalienable rights as human beings, not
merely substandard Negros as they were perceived to be. However, some thought that the most
effective approach would be to acquiesce to the subservient status upheld by whites in order to earn
their respect until equity permeated. Others were more combative in their ... Show more content on

Moreover, the subsequent time period following the war was deemed the period of Reconstruction, a
time of mending a restoration after the detriment of war. However, it was during that time that
southern whites attempted to regress back to enslavement by perpetuating their preeminence over
blacks and instituting restraints on the rights of the freshly freedmen. Such measures as the Black
Codes and the KKK were implemented within the South to regulate the actions of African Americans
as though they were in slavery but without the security of safety that comes with being considered
property. Though chattel slavery had been abolished, the abruptness of its termination left several
pertinent issues unresolved in relation to the status of African Americans. The terms of the war only
required the southern states to remove the succession clause from their state constitutions. However, in
spite of its connotation of brutality, the period of Reconstruction was also beneficial in some repute as
it established public education for both blacks and whites. Although their predicament didn t improve
much, gradually there was a transformation in the manner in which African Americans regarded
themselves. This self realization is what

Student Engagement And Learning Environment
The use of technology tools is one of the key components to preparing learners for the 21st century.
However, with the overwhelming abundance of technology tools and resources, educators are faced
with the challenge of selecting and implementing the most effective tools that lead to the highest level
of student learning. Although reading and writing text has been the focus of learning for thousands of
years (Myers, 1996), developments and changes in technology have made a vast impact on recent
literacy instruction and learning. Integrating technology into classrooms prepares students to be
successful learners in a dynamic world (November, 1998). During the last half of the 20th century,

the adopted curriculum, guided by standards of best practice. Digital Learning World (2011) reports
the following:
The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has developed National Education
Technology Standards (NETS) which are a set of benchmarks that help to measure competence for the

Elizabeth Siddal And The Femme Fatale
In pre Raphaelite paintings, a famously known model, Elizabeth Siddal appears as an idealised form
of female body. In the 19th century, she was the central figure of the muse that often combined with
man s fantasy and sensuality with poetic idealism. Although Rossetti and Siddal s marriage was not so
idealised rather a tragedy, but they formed a relationship of an artist and the muse. After the death of
Siddal, Rossetti departed from the notion of ideal women but he was preoccupied with the theme of
Lilith in both his paintings and poetry. Rossetti manifested many of the demonized figure imagery, the
femme fatal , in his art and to a certain extent, we could see that he was not free from the memory of
his wronged wife. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that many male artists depicted the female body
imagery in two categories, which are either the idealised, the muse or the cult of feminine beauty, the
femme fatale. Those binary structured perception between the muse and the femme fatale have a
strong relationship with the man s agony and anxiety over the female challenges that were emerging at
different levels of society. Bear this ideas in mind, the paper attempts to explore the Lilith images in
Rossetti s art with the particular focus on how the muse turned into femme fatale. Furthermore, it will
discuss Rossetti s engagements with his wife, Elizabeth Siddal from the perspective of personal and
psychological aspects. First, the paper will briefly discuss the

Why Is Mahatma Gandhi Unjustified
You must be the change you wish to see in the world Mahatma Gandhi (source from Mahatma Gandhi
Quotes. ). Many assassinations occur due to political, religious, and cultural reasons. Some
assassinations occur without explanation, or with explanations that sound illogical or ridiculous. On
January 30, 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was shot three times by his assassin, Nathuram Godse. Gandhi
was a man who only wanted what was best for his fellow Indians, and his love for his country and its
people were what motivated him to do what he did. He was the leading figure responsible for India
achieving independence, and he wanted to see a free and united country. Some may argue that he was
not a good politician however, having to put politics within every view can sometimes be too much,
which can cause arguments, leading to chaos. The first reason why Gandhi s death was unjustified was
because Gandhi wanted only what was best for for his fellow Indians, and his love for his country and
its people were what motivated him to do what he did. An example of him wanting what was best for
his fellow Indians is Gandhi leading several campaigns in which he intended to make public of what
unfortunate situation Indians were in inside their Country. This include the protest against the South
African government s refusal to allow for Indians to vote. He was significant to the the founding of the
Natal Indian Congress in 1894. This is an organization that became center in 1894 and helped political
resistance develop over a seven year period which began in 1906 (All stated in the article, Great Soul:
Mahatma Gandhi and His Struggle with India. ). Another example was that in future years, is in 1913,
Gandhi negotiated with colonial laborers with Jan Smuts. Smuts was an Afrikaner (Afrikaans speaking
person in South Africa, especially one descended from the Dutch and Huguenot settlers of the 17th
century) and a racist who later became colonial secretary after the Boer War. The final decision
between the two managed to gain Indians rights by a little (All stated in the article, The Problem with
Purity. ) The second reason why Gandhi s death was unjustified because he was the leading figure
responsible for gaining India s

Hamlet Appearance Vs Reality Essay
While Hamlet believes that [to] be or not to be, (Shakespeare 3.1. 64), is the question, I would argue
that a larger question exists that remains unanswered: what is? How does one differentiate between
what is real, and what is an illusion created by the depths of the mind? In The Tragedy of Hamlet,
Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare, the characters are challenged to constantly distinguish
between what is and what seems the presence of reality or appearance. Reality, in a literal sense, is the
state of things as they actually exist, (Fowler); however, it s possible that existing or not existing is
subjective. Hamlet, the protagonist and tragic hero of the play, interprets a much different reality than
the surrounding characters and devises appearances that drive others away from understanding his
truth; in turn, he is made a pawn in the illusions of others, specifically Gertrude, Claudius, and
Laertes, to the point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Laertes claims, I am justly killed with mine own treachery, (Shakespeare 5.2. 337). Laertes faces the
reality that in his own illusion, he has made himself, Gertrude, and Hamlet victims in King Claudius s
power seeking plot, realizing [the] King, the King s to blame, (Shakespeare 5.2. 351). Hamlet,
mourning Gertrude and forgiving Laertes, finally takes action, killing King Claudius by turning his
own weapons of destruction against him. As Hamlet passes from life, the audience is left with one
large, overarching question regarding the reality of the situation: who is

Myth #1
Truck drivers are drug users or serial killers Truck drivers often get stuck with a bad reputation thanks

How Did Al Capone Use Manipulation
Chief gangster Al Capone used violence, intimidation, and manipulation to shape the identities of the
citizens in Chicago IL. Capone was capable of doing what needed to be done, he wouldn t stop for
anything. Capone would use strategies such as violence to get whatever he wanted and needed, and at
the end he would always get it. Al Capone was known for usually gunning down all his enemies, by
1929, authorities counted about six teen gang related murders; this brand continued until 1964,
reaching a high of sixty four murders in one year during that time. Since the citizens of Chicago knew

He did this took take others off his radar and save himself from many situations he found himself. The
first way Capone used manipulation was when anyone discovered his acts and his behavior he would

happening because everyone in Chicago knew what he was capable of and didn t want to get on his
bad side, some would even partner up with Capone to be on his good side to there s no chance of him
hurting their close ones and friends. The second way Capone manipulated others was on the day of the
St.Valentine s Massacre, Capone was the one who set it all up, yet he stayed in his home in Florida
with his girlfriend while his gang did the work. This made the police not know at first that he was in
charge and was the one behind it all until later clearance, he would ve let his gang be in charge an take
them blame if the police hadn t added it all up and lead it to him. The final way Capone used
manipulation was when he was finally put into jail people would make accusations of how he was
messing with the guards and the system to receive treatment so his time there wasn t as bad. Since
people already knew who he was most wouldn t mess with him, so when they knew how he was able

How Did Klimt Make The Kiss
Gustav Klimt created his oil on canvas painting The Kiss between 1907 and 1908 using oil with layers
of gold leaf. This piece also uses mosaic techniques as well as fresco. Just as the title suggests, the
painting is a depiction of a couple embraced in a kiss. The man is kissing and embracing the woman,
the woman in return is accepting the kiss and leaning up to him (Cruz 34). The painting is exhibited at
the Osterrelchische Galerie Belvedere in Vienna, Austria. The Kiss is a large piece measuring 180 x

White Man s Burden Imperialism
Views on Imperialism
Imperialism is the extension of a nation s authority by territorial acquisitions or by the establishment
of economic and political dominance over other nations (American Heritage Dictionary). Both
Imperialists and Anti Imperialists in the late nineteeth century published arguments for or against the
justification of Westerners civilizing less advanced peoples. Western societies Imperialist motives
were to further their own economic and political standings. Humanitarianism outreach and Social
Darwinism were excuses to assert Western dominance. British writer, Rudyard Kipling s poem The
White Man s Burden aimed to persuade Europeans why they could and should civilize primitive non
white people; British Parliament and anti imperialist, Henry Labouchere responds with his own poem,

He supported the imperialist aim that, Westerners shouldered the responsibility for governing and
converting the supposed savages under charge and strove to remake them superior European models
(Mckay, 809). The hope was that these primitive nonwhite people would eventually benefit from
imperialism and modern achievements and higher levels of living (Mckay, 810). The white man s
burden was to send forth the best yet breed the brightest white men to go over to these under
performing primitive countries and work hard at converting and modernizing theses evil and immature
people Kipling refers to as, Half devil and half child (Mckay et al., 810). Kipling s poem makes a case
for imperialism by telling the Europeans it is their moral obligation. It was a burden because the task
would it be easy. The nonwhites will not be open to new ways and the Europeans will have weariness
and the hate of those ye guard (Mckay, 810). This hate for imperialism is very evident in Henry

The mere presence of antisocial behavior is not sufficient...
The mere presence of antisocial behavior is not sufficient to diagnose a person with antisocial
personality disorder. In order to be diagnosed with this disorder one must display a pattern of violation
of other s rights and of disrespectful behavior, which appear after the age of 15. This individual will
also display some behavioral problems so called before the age of 15 such as conduct disorder. The
individual must be at least 18 years old. The occurrence of antisocial behavior is not exclusively
during the course of Schizophrenia or a Manic Episode. In addition, according to DSM V diagnosis of
antisocial personality disorder can be made only if a person meet at least the three of the following

According to Cecley(1988) people with Antisocial Personality Disorder have congenital inability to
understand and express emotional experience despite proper understanding of the language. Thus, a
person suffering from antisocial personality disorder could not understand that their behavior cause
suffering, they are not able to develop conscience and are deprived of empathy and remorse. Other
researchers indicate reduced activity in the frontal lobes of the brain. These lobes are responsible for
executive functions: long term planning, prioritizing objectives, assessment and concentration of
attention. EEG pattern in individuals manifesting antisocial behavior resembles that in young children.
This may indicate that the physical presence of a delay in the maturity of the brain. People with
antisocial personality disorder also have difficulty in achieving the state of physical arousal their heart
rate remain unchanged or does not increase until the last minute. They also have no fear so they take
action despite the risk. Literature also draws attention to the relationship between high levels of
testosterone and antisocial behavior. There are also publications (Cloninger, Reich, Guze, 1978;
Grove, Eckert, Hestory, 1990) that indicate a genetic basis for antisocial and criminal behavior. For
example: studies of adopted children whose biological parents were characterized by antisocial
behavior, show that children are more likely to exhibit such behavior.

Measuring The Effectiveness Of The Coastal Zone Management...
Measuring the Effectiveness of the Coastal Zone Management Act in the United States
Emily M. Joyce
ENVM 646 Fall 2014
Introduction
In 1972, the U.S. Congress approved the federal Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA). The CZMA
gives a structure for improved management of the coastal and lands and waters of the nations coastal
zone. It was intended to provide broad policy direction, federal fiscal means, and legal tools as
incentives to coastal states wishing to modernize their aptitude for coastal management. Participating
states had to go through a planning and development stage and then submitted a proposal for approval.
Most of the state programs were approved in the late 1970s and early 1980s, with ongoing
implementation.
Since it s passage, the CZMA there have been numerous efforts to evaluate the success of the state and
local programs. The evaluations have varied broadly in scope, focus, and methods used. Most have
relied on the descriptions of the processes, case studies, expert opinions and public perceptions to
gauge success.
Structure and Policy Context of the CZM in the United States
A main item of coastal management exercise in the U.S. is the series of programs and activities of all
levels of government that directly linked to the federal CZMA. Under the CZMA, federal, states, and
local, are given important roles to play and flexibility in choosing their roles. This results in varied
costal programs, which gives certain challenges for a

Stepfamilies In Cinderella And The Brady Bunch
Q: There are all types of stepfamilies some are happy and satisfying, some are grim and stressful.
Most stepfamilies, like most other family forms, fall somewhere between these extremes. FATRA,
Chapter 22, page 357
A: The readings form this week primarily focused on familial relationships, particularly dealing with
divorce and remarriage. The reaction of children within the aforementioned families was also
examined. Divorce, although traditionally thought of as a detriment to the quality of family life, was
found to be perfectly appropriate and even positive in certain instances. This same concept can be
applied to the quality of life within families dealing with remarriage as well. It also focused on the
idea that families that faced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On one end of the spectrum, there is the wicked stepmother and stepsiblings, doing everything they
can to make Cinderella s life awful and miserable. On the other end, the Brady Bunch encompasses an
idea of the perfect, blended family; always able to work out their issues, learn valuable lessons, and be
happy at the end of the day. Clearly, neither of these symbols are realistic to the everyday divorced and
remarried family. The issue with Cinderella is that the research used to support the real life likelihood
is too simplified, not taking into account other factors. For example, maybe the tendency for
stepparents to provide fewer resources to their stepchildren is due to the added on need to support
biological children elsewhere. In the Brady Bunch, the new, challenging dimensions of a reformed
family seem to be largely avoided and even ignored. These inaccurate portrayals motivate their
research because they seek to explore stepfamilies as they really are and delve much deeper than the
superficial images in the media. They want to get past the early, deficit comparison approaches, and
explore the histories of the individuals rather than comparing them to other groups that are simply
unlike

Donatello was the greatest Italian sculptor before Michelangelo and was the most influential artist of
the 15th century in Italy. Donatello was born in Florence, in 1386, and was recognized by populars
sculptors and quickly learned the gothic style. By 1408, Donatello was working to the cathedral and
there, he completed a life size marble sculpture named David. The sculpture was in the Gothic style,
and was placed in Palazzo Vecchio (the town hall) as a symbol of the challenge of authority to the
people who lived at Florence. After a while, Donatello´s style began to be more mature and he created

The Irish And Chinese Immigrants In The 1950 s
The Irish and Chinese immigrants during the 1950 s were subjected to cruel judgment and unjust
regulations. Even though both of these races had such a major impact on American history, they were
once seen as an invasive species that were sucking up all available jobs. This forced the American
government and its people to take a stand against the Cheese and Irish. The Chinese faced exclusion
and economic laws, while the Irish were plagued with the label of being poor, diseased, and
considerably different from the prior Irish. The first sight of Chinese immigrants came in 1848 on the
coast of California. These immigrants came left all they knew back in the Guandong Providence in
search of a more prosperous American future. Overpopulation mixed with economic and political
crisis were the defining factors for their departure. During 1815 1855 on the entire opposite side of
America, Irish immigrants were landing in Boston and New York. Their appearance in America can be
divided through the time period in which they came. 1815 1844 Irish immigrants left their native
island due to British encroachment, cruel landlords, as well as a explosive population growth from
around four million to nine million. Yet, from 1845 1855 a majority of Irish immigrants left due to a
fungal infection that wiped out the primary crop in Ireland, the Potato. While the Irish and Chinese
had their separate reasons for leaving their original domicile, they ended in the same country facing
the same racial

Old Ben And Fox Hunt Comparison Essay
Some things can be very similar, but also very different. For example, stories can be different. They
have different plots and different authors, but they can also have similar elements and plot ideas. Some
examples of that in a story could be that a character makes a friend, or attempts to achieve a goal. In
this essay, I will be comparing and contrasting Old Ben and Fox Hunt , two stories with different plots
and similar elements. While some similarities are evident between Old Ben and Fox Hunt , the
differences are also distinct.
There are many similarities between Old Ben and Fox Hunt . One of them is the use of foreshadowing
in both narratives. Foreshadowing is when there are indications throughout the text that hint at events
to come. In Old Ben , it is foreshadowed that the snake will die in the end. In Fox Hunt , it is
foreshadowed that Lee is the fox spirit. Another similarity is that the two stories both have main
characters that are either animals, or have animal characteristics, such as Ben from Old Ben , who is a
snake, and Andy, from Fox Hunt , who is part fox. A closing similarity is that both of the stories use
narrative structure. Narrative structure is when a narrative is arranged in chronological order. Looking
at these examples, we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conversely, there are also distinct differences. One of those differences is Fox Hunt using flashbacks
to tell a story. Flashbacks inform you of events that happened in the past. Old Ben does not use any
flashbacks at all. A second difference is that Old Ben transpires over a longer period of time; months
pass during the story. In Fox Hunt , the story only takes place over a few weeks. A concluding
difference is that Fox Hunt uses fantasy ideas, such as fox spirits, while Old Ben does not, and only
uses real life ideas. Therefore, Old Ben and Fox Hunt are quite different in many

ethical impact of our technology: (1) Health benefits gained from drinking clean water and (2) the
environmental impact with regards to using plastic water bottles. This memo will present the research
that I have found concerning the two aforementioned perspectives. Then I will discuss what further

Protections and improvement of the environment, morally is a good thing as you help protect the
homes of the animals that live there. Similar to helping the sick, there is little to no ethical dilemmas
when it comes to being eco friendly. Since the SODIS method has some environmentally based
drawbacks, it could be harmful to the environment and it will present some moral concern when it
comes to recommending the technology. The SODIS method uses plastic PET water bottles to help
disinfect the water. PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and also referred to as polyester, is a common
plastic used in plastic bottles for water, soft drinks, juice and many other common items (American
Chemistry Council, 1988). The production of plastics, its frequent and disposable role and the hazards
it poses once it needs to be disposed of has made the use of plastic an environmental drawback to the
SODIS method. PET can be reused but only to a certain extent. PET bottles should be replaced within
6 to 12 months and should no longer be used if they get scratched or show signs of wear (SODIS,
2009). When it comes to the disposal of the bottle, there are two methods each with its own
drawbacks. The first method, landfills use up lots of space which could be better used. Also, due to the
lack of oxygen found in landfills, plastic can take more than 20 years to decompose. The other method
is incineration which creates harmful compounds such as carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases which
easily can get released into the atmosphere (Webb, Arnott, Crawford, Ivanova, 2012). However a
study conducted found that PET can undergo microbial degradation by Nocardia with help of the
esterase enzyme (Sharon Sharon, 2012). Although this is evidence of progress, currently there is no
commercial scale method capable of the biodegradation of PET (Webb,

sectors of the food industry in many different ways. Self serve checkouts can impact on agriculture
and fisheries by needing more produce to be grown/farmed. Due to having attracted more people by
having check outs so people don t have to wait in line. They also impact food processing and
manufacture because they may need the barcodes on the products they sell to be longer/shorter or a

more efficient and easier to purchase goods. Self serve Checkouts can also impact on food service and

The online shopping app can impact on agriculture and fisheries due to the app being accessible to
anyone with a smartphone meaning more people can order from home because they don t have to go
into the store. Therefore meaning they will have to produce more stock to keep up with the demand.

Ethical Issues In Counselors Essay
Ethical Issues Faced When Counseling Oppressed Populations
Psychologists are aware of cultural, individual, and role differences, including those due to age,
gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, language, and
socioeconomic status. Psychologists try to eliminate the effect of their work of biases based on those
factors, and they do not knowingly participate in or condone unfair discriminatory practices. (APA,
1992, pp. 1599 1600)
The American Psychological Association, American Counseling Association, and other professional
mental health associations affirm that counselors should be aware of the prevailing community
standards and of the possible impact on their practice of deviation from these standards. Ethical
standards are created to help professionals identify ethical issues in practice and provide guidelines to
determine what is ethically acceptable and unacceptable behavior (Reamer, 1998). Ethical issues are
frequently intertwined, which makes it imperative that counselors not only follow the codes of ethics

School Security Essay
School Security
Seeing students wear uniforms in school may seem either too strict or too traditional, but when one
figures out, and understand, the reason why for this formality, more will see the advantage of wearing
school uniforms. Some may feel that uniforms should not be required in schools because they think it
s a waste of money, students don t want to be told what to wear, or because they don t want to look the
same like everyone else at school. However, uniforms are much less expensive than the clothing
brands that students wear, so parents are saving more money. Students also need to understand that
they can t always get what they want, they need to realize that not everything is going to be their way.
Students don t want to wear the same clothing like others because they want to stand out, but this can
create conflict at school because the students will begin to judge each other by what they wear, and if
everyone wears uniforms we would be avoiding these types of conflicts.
This uniform policy turned out to be very successful that President Clinton even mentioned it in his
1996 State of the Union address. Statistics showed that there was a major decrease in overall crimes,
suspensions, and offenses which means that wearing uniforms was successful for this school district.
A study in Long Beach was conducted in the 1990s with school uniforms. The Long Beach district
was the first in the nation to require uniforms. 41% of parents and 86% of teachers agreed that

African Americans And Reconstruction Essay Throughout the duration of the Civil War in 1861 to the 1920s, African Americans made significant strides toward their advancement in America and toward equity with whites. After having being subjected to white governance and enslaved for so long, their dependence generated a sense of unfamiliarity with their newly acquired emancipation. This uncertainty sparked many debates regarding the most effectual way to go about receiving their inalienable rights as human beings, not merely substandard Negros as they were perceived to be. However, it was during that time that southern whites attempted to regress back to enslavement by perpetuating their preeminence over blacks and instituting restraints on the rights of the freshly freedmen. Such measures as the Black Codes and the KKK were implemented within the South to regulate the actions of African Americans as though they were in slavery but without the security of safety that comes with being considered property. Though chattel slavery had been abolished, the abruptness of its termination left several pertinent issues unresolved in relation to the status of African Americans. The terms of the war only required the southern states to remove the succession clause from their state constitutions. However, in spite of its connotation of brutality, the period of Reconstruction was also beneficial in some repute as it established public education for both blacks and whites. • 13. Elizabeth Siddal And The Femme Fatale In pre Raphaelite paintings, a famously known model, Elizabeth Siddal appears as an idealised form of female body. In the 19th century, she was the central figure of the muse that often combined with man s fantasy and sensuality with poetic idealism. Although Rossetti and Siddal s marriage was not so idealised rather a tragedy, but they formed a relationship of an artist and the muse. After the death of Siddal, Rossetti departed from the notion of ideal women but he was preoccupied with the theme of Lilith in both his paintings and poetry. Rossetti manifested many of the demonized figure imagery, the femme fatal , in his art and to a certain extent, we could see that he was not free from the memory of his wronged wife. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that many male artists depicted the female body imagery in two categories, which are either the idealised, the muse or the cult of feminine beauty, the femme fatale. Those binary structured perception between the muse and the femme fatale have a strong relationship with the man s agony and anxiety over the female challenges that were emerging at different levels of society. Many assassinations occur due to political, religious, and cultural reasons. Some assassinations occur without explanation, or with explanations that sound illogical or ridiculous. On January 30, 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was shot three times by his assassin, Nathuram Godse. Gandhi was a man who only wanted what was best for his fellow Indians, and his love for his country and its people were what motivated him to do what he did. He was the leading figure responsible for India achieving independence, and he wanted to see a free and united country. Some may argue that he was not a good politician however, having to put politics within every view can sometimes be too much, which can cause arguments, leading to chaos. The first reason why Gandhi s death was unjustified was because Gandhi wanted only what was best for for his fellow Indians, and his love for his country and its people were what motivated him to do what he did. An example of him wanting what was best for his fellow Indians is Gandhi leading several campaigns in which he intended to make public of what unfortunate situation Indians were in inside their Country. In The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare, the characters are challenged to constantly distinguish between what is and what seems the presence of reality or appearance. • 30. Solar Water Disinfection Memo 1. Introduction This memo is a progress report on the feasibility of implementing solar water disinfection in areas without access to clean drinking water. The purpose of this assessment is to provide you with two different perspectives from which to evaluate the proposed technology of solar water decontamination from an ethical perspective. I have found 2 main areas to consider for the ethical impact of our technology: (1) Health benefits gained from drinking clean water and (2) the environmental impact with regards to using plastic water bottles. This memo will present the research that I have found concerning the two aforementioned perspectives. Then I will discuss what further research needs to be done and propose what modifications or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Protections and improvement of the environment, morally is a good thing as you help protect the homes of the animals that live there. Similar to helping the sick, there is little to no ethical dilemmas when it comes to being eco friendly. Since the SODIS method has some environmentally based drawbacks, it could be harmful to the environment and it will present some moral concern when it comes to recommending the technology. The SODIS method uses plastic PET water bottles to help disinfect the water. PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and also referred to as polyester, is a common plastic used in plastic bottles for water, soft drinks, juice and many other common items (American Chemistry Council, 1988). The production of plastics, its frequent and disposable role and the hazards it poses once it needs to be disposed of has made the use of plastic an environmental drawback to the SODIS method. PET can be reused but only to a certain extent. PET bottles should be replaced within 6 to 12 months and should no longer be used if they get scratched or show signs of wear (SODIS, 2009). When it comes to the disposal of the bottle, there are two methods each with its own drawbacks. The first method, landfills use up lots of space which could be better used. Also, due to the lack of oxygen found in landfills, plastic can take more than 20 years to decompose. The other method is incineration which creates harmful compounds such as carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases which easily can get released into the atmosphere (Webb, Arnott, Crawford, Ivanova, 2012). However a study conducted found that PET can undergo microbial degradation by Nocardia with help of the esterase enzyme (Sharon Sharon, 2012). Although this is evidence of progress, currently there is no commercial scale method capable of the biodegradation of PET (Webb, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Psychologists try to eliminate the effect of their work of biases based on those factors, and they do not knowingly participate in or condone unfair discriminatory practices. (APA, 1992, pp. 1599 1600) The American Psychological Association, American Counseling Association, and other professional mental health associations affirm that counselors should be aware of the prevailing community standards and of the possible impact on their practice of deviation from these standards. Ethical standards are created to help professionals identify ethical issues in practice and provide guidelines to determine what is ethically acceptable and unacceptable behavior (Reamer, 1998). • 35. School Security Essay School Security Seeing students wear uniforms in school may seem either too strict or too traditional, but when one figures out, and understand, the reason why for this formality, more will see the advantage of wearing school uniforms. Some may feel that uniforms should not be required in schools because they think it s a waste of money, students don t want to be told what to wear, or because they don t want to look the same like everyone else at school. However, uniforms are much less expensive than the clothing brands that students wear, so parents are saving more money. Students also need to understand that they can t always get what they want, they need to realize that not everything is going to be their way. Students don t want to wear the same clothing like others because they want to stand out, but this can create conflict at school because the students will begin to judge each other by what they wear, and if everyone wears uniforms we would be avoiding these types of conflicts. This uniform policy turned out to be very successful that President Clinton even mentioned it in his 1996 State of the Union address. Statistics showed that there was a major decrease in overall crimes, suspensions, and offenses which means that wearing uniforms was successful for this school district. A study in Long Beach was conducted in the 1990s with school uniforms. The Long Beach district was the first in the nation to require uniforms. 41% of parents and 86% of teachers agreed that ...
