Economic Growth Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of economic growth presents a unique set of challenges. Firstly,
delving into the intricate web of economic theories, statistical data, and historical perspectives
requires a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Navigating through the
complexities of economic models, growth indicators, and their multifaceted implications
demands a thorough grasp of economic principles.
Furthermore, the essay should not merely regurgitate information but should also demonstrate
critical thinking and analytical skills. The ability to synthesize diverse perspectives, analyze
trends, and make informed predictions about the future of economic growth adds another layer
of difficulty to the writing process.
Incorporating relevant examples, case studies, and real-world applications is crucial to
substantiate arguments and provide a practical dimension to the theoretical framework. This
requires extensive research and a keen eye for selecting pertinent and current examples that
resonate with the topic.
Moreover, striking a balance between maintaining a coherent narrative and addressing the
various facets of economic growth is challenging. The essay should seamlessly transition
between macroeconomic factors, policy implications, and microeconomic considerations,
ensuring a holistic and nuanced exploration of the subject.
Lastly, communicating complex economic concepts in a clear and engaging manner for a diverse
audience poses a final hurdle. Striking the right tone, avoiding jargon, and ensuring accessibility
without oversimplification is essential to effectively convey ideas.
In conclusion, writing an essay on economic growth involves navigating through intricate
economic concepts, conducting thorough research, synthesizing diverse perspectives, and
presenting complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner. It is a task that demands a combination
of in-depth knowledge, critical thinking skills, and effective communication abilities.

Sub-Saharan Africa
The scramble for Africa during the late 1870 s had caused many European nations to
invest and get there hands on piece of Africa and also did this with minimal conflicts
among each other. As a result, much of Africa was colonized and countries such as
Britain and France had much territory and influence in Africa. Therefore, colonization
led to lots of exploitations and for African countries to lose there right to govern
their own country. However, the rise of independence began near the late 1950 s and
the 1960 s and can be exemplified through the ending of World War II, educated
African elites and nationalism. These three main factors can be displayed through
events and forces that happened within the continent as well as outside of it.

Lastly, the another example that displays the product of both internal and external
events and forces was nationalism in the Sub Saharan African countries. A lot of
the times the countries that were under colonial rule did not have lots of benefits
for the people living in them. For instance, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga wanted to
form a socialist party in Kenya and realized that the support that he received was
not only from people who were at disadvantaged across the length and breadth of
the country, whom his proposed reforms were to benefit but almost from all sectors
such as the rich and poor of the Luo, which was his own ethnic group (Reader 620).
This unification helped make them become stronger. In addition, another example
would be Chief Obafemi Awolowo became a hero for almost all the classes in
Yoruba land and was hero for the Nigerian independence. This was not easy because a
lot of the times many of the ethnic groups would not get along. Moreover, the
injustices that often occurs of colonial rule inspired nationalist movements that united
the most diverse ethnic group in the drive for independence (Reader 632). Another
example that displays how nationalism helped lead to decolonization is what occurred
in the Congo. First, Lumumba was a vital member that helped lead Congo into their
independence. Lumumba believed that the congolese elite should enjoy the same
freedom and rights as

Mother Daughter relationships have the inevitable destiny of being tense because
mothers follow the ancient How to method of preventing their daughters from The

Multiple Sclerosis Model
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease, distinguished by
inflammation and demyelination in the central nervous system (CNS) that mainly
affects young adults (Bodhankar et al., 2013, Markovic Plese and McFarland, 2001).
The etiology of this heterogeneous disease have been related with immunological,
environmental and genetic factors, but the reason of MS is still unknown (Milo and
Kahana, 2010). The pathogenesis of the disease is accompanied by the activation and
infiltration of mononuclear cells predominantly antigen specific CD4+ and CD8+ T
cells and B cells in the CNS (Mosayebi et al., 2010, Zhang et al., 2014). Experimental

circulating sex hormones especially estrogen. Moreover, we find out lack of
estrogen causes more extensive EAE and different doses of estrogen could protect
against EAE. We demonstrated intermediate dose of estrogen (5 fold lower than
pregnancy level) could reduce the incidence and severity of clinical disease similar
to pregnancy level of estrogen but also lower side effects than high dose estrogen

efficiency in treatment of EAE condition, although it will be necessary to perform

Correctional Facilities in The United States Essay
Throughout United States correctional history, it has been heavily debated as to
whether or not prisons have positive effects on inmates and society. Today, many
prisons attempt to have a positive impact on the lives of the inmates, while giving
society the satisfaction on punishing criminals. The correctional system achieves this
goal through the use of four techniques. The four techniques used by the correctional
system include rehabilitation, deterrence, incapacitation, and retribution. These four
methods work individually as well as collectively to produce felons who can be
productive citizens of society. Firstly, one main, effective method used by
correctional facilities today is rehabilitation. Prisons aim of rehabilitation is to... Show

A Pleas For Help an uneducated inmate realized that the effects would help him to
never return to prison. The inmate was quoted saying, Please give me some
education, or a trade, because I don t want to come back to prison. (Cei) This show
the positive effects of such programs will give this inmate a chance to be
productive in society. Correctional facilities use a wide range of programs to
effectively rehabilitate inmates. There are two categories for correctional programs,
one category is habilitative services, and the other is treatment programs.
Habilitative services aim to teach inmates basic skills needed for a productive life in
society. These skills include education classes on reading and writing, vocational
training, religious programs, and life skill development. Education programs are the
most effective in prison because they help reduce recidivism by encouraging self
discipline, and promoting a sense of investment that discourages criminality. Also,
recidivism is reduced through academic programs by increasing an offender s post
release earnings and job security. (Quinn 249) All federal prisons, and 91% of
states prisons offer educational programs. This is significant because having the
ability to read and write and essential for daily tasks in everyday life. If inmates are
determined enough to become productive citizens, prisons also offer GED preparation
Ethnicity And Ethnicity
Literature Review
The concept of ethnicity is not clearly defined is social science research However,
it is often associated with culture, nationality and language of defined groups
(Chandra, 2006; Shah and Davis, 2017). In 2015, the Office of Management and
Budget revised the Standards for the Classification of Federal Data on Race and
Ethnicity (See Table 1). Socioeconomic status(SES) includes income and educational
attainment, financial security and perceptions of social class (Shavers, 2007;
Nicklett, 2011). Numerous studies have suggested that a strong relationship between
ethnicity and socioeconomic status exists in America. SES pervades many human
functioning to include physical and mental health (Nicklett, 2011; Williams,
Mohammed, Leavell, and Collins, 2010). Studies have suggested that ethnicity is
related to illness, impairment and death rates (Williams, Mohammed, Leavell, and
Collins, 2010). Communities in American are often segregated by SES, race, and
ethnicity. Minority communities commonly share characteristics of low economic
development, poor health conditions and low levels of educational attainment. Low
SES has consistently been implicated as a risk factor for many of these problems that
plague communities. Research indicates that there are large health disparities based
on social status that are pervasive and persistent (McGuire, and Miranda, 2008;
Fiscella, Gold, and Clancy, 2008). These health disparities reflect the inequalities that

Back when I was a dog handler in Afghan, we ran into a lot of trouble. Part of my

It was my final year in the military and then I was gonna go to College, be an

Just never liked either. I guess I only found that out while reflecting during my
years on duty. Boston College, a few months and thousands of miles away. To be
honest I chose Boston to chase after a girl, her name Martha Sinclair. We met in
middle school, it feels like she only noticed me when I said I was going overseas
about the beginning of senior year. We hadn t been dating by then, but now we are. I
didn t wanna see that relationship end, so I panicked and chose a school I wasn t
damn near interested in.

How Sleep Disorders Change a Day and Night
Imagine being that person who can t fall asleep or not having control over when
you re about to fall asleep, these might be scenario but for 100 million Americans
who suffer from these disorders it s reality. This is a medical condition called
somnipathy or more commonly known as a sleep disorder, which can affect a
persons sleeping pattern if there are severe effects. There are many sleep disorders
but the most common ones people know about are Insomnia, Sleep apnea, night
terrors, and Narcolepsy. Amongst these four sleeping disorders, their effects could
potentially cause pain to a person not only mentally but physically.

A person is supposed to moving through the different REM stages throughout the
night and so their breathing changes or stop to adjust to new stage, with sleep apnea
they stop breathing for longer period than necessary. After time affects them in a
negative way and takes a toll on their body.
The third sleep disorder, Night terrors are deep episodes that seem to produce terror,
although any terrifying mental experience (such as a dream) is usually forgotten
on awakening (pg. 343). Night terrors are uncommon, and only affect a small
percentage of children between the ages of four and twelve. This percentage is
even smaller for adults. Most children grow out of night terrors by the time they are
adolescents to adults. But it still brings up concern because with night terrors
comes the behaviors like walking in your sleep, punching, kicking and choking
someone you love. Once woken, the sleepers will have no recollection of what they
were scared about. Occasionally some adults may be able to remember bits and
pieces of their terror. Most night terrors come about if a person had something tragic
happen to them sometime throughout their life. For instance if a child was beaten
repetitively or sexually assaulted, they are more prone to night terrors.
The last common sleep disorder is, Narcolepsy which is a disorder of REM sleep,
involving sleep onset REM periods and sudden daytime

Salesforce.com has been considered one of the most disruptive technology
companies of the past few years and is credited with single handedly shaking up the
software industry with its innovative business model and resounding success. This
company provides CRM solutions in the form of software as a service leased over
the Internet, as opposed to software bought and installed on machines locally. It was
founded in 1999 by former Oracle executive Marc Benioff, and has since grown to

Salesforce faces significant challenges as it continues to grow and refine its business.
The first challenge comes from increased competition, both from traditional industry
leaders and new challengers hoping to replicate Salesforce s success. Microsoft,
SAP, and Oracle have rolled out subscription based versions of their CRM products
in response to Salesforce. Smaller competitors like NetSuite also have made some
inroads against Salesforce s market share.
Analysts predict that Microsoft has a chance to compete with Salesforce by
developing merely an acceptable on demand CRM product, because of the average
customer s already established familiarity with Microsoft applications. Also,
Microsoft plans to offer their product at half the price of Salesforce.com, using a
tactic they have employed with great effect in other marketplaces to pressure their
competitors. Salesforce.com still has plenty of catching up to do to reach the size
and market share of their larger competitors. As of 2007, SAP s CRM market share
was 25.7 percent, compared to only 7 percent for Salesforce.com. IBM s customer
base includes 9,000 software companies that run their applications on their software
and that are likelier to choose a solution offered by IBM over Salesforce.com.

Tess Of The DUrbervilles Analysis
Tess of the D Urbervilles, published in 1891, challenges the social customs of
Victorian England. Thomas Hardy uses the main character, Tess, to condemn views
of sexual morality and marriage common in the nineteenth century. Hardy s
willingness to question the contemporary views of his day made the novel
controversial when it first came out. Tess of the D Urbervilles occurs in the fictional
town of Wessex, England. Using this setting, Hardy depicts changes, caused by the
rise of modern technology and industry, transpiring throughout rural England.
Through Tess, Hardy emphasizes the novel s bucolic setting which represents
freedom from the city s corruption. Like other pastoralworks, Tess of the D
Urbervilles portrays the country in an idealized or romantic way. By referencing
specific pastoral elements belonging to nature, Hardy structures the text to develop
the theme of fate. The tragedies that befall Tess appear to be inevitable, giving the
impression that fate is punishing Tess for the wrongdoings of her ancestors. Through
the theme of class division, Hardy expands upon the notion of fate and questions
whether social status should be based on blood or wealth. By emphasizing the rural
setting and marriage customs of his time, Hardy distinguishes between marriage for
social gain and true pastoral love. The rich country setting of Tess of the D
Urbervilles creates a tone of femininity and nature that emphasizes the thematic
portrayal of fate and class division. Infused with other pastoral elements, these themes
and motifs classify the novel as a pastoral tragedy. Thomas Hardydepicts a strong
connection between women and nature. Women in Tess of the D Urbervilles are
depicted as being more in touch with the outdoors. The special relationship women
have with nature separates them from their male counterparts, who are more in tune
with industrialization. This parallelism between women and nature is best witnessed
through Tess, who Hardy describes as a daughter of nature (Hardy.135). Angel Clare
associates Tess with nature when he describes her as a visionary essence of woman,
calling her Artemis, Demeter and other fanciful names (Hardy.146) By comparing
Tess to Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, and

exhibit because I had spent so much time there in the past as a visitor, a historian
and an anthropologist, but never as a student of Museum Studies. However, on my
visit on 26 September 2017, I noticed a few changes to the exhibit in regards to the
collection in the gallery. These changes I believe, were made strategically by the
curators and the Indigenous advisors for a few reasons including the celebration of
Canada s sesquicentennial and/or due to the Task Force Report, and general
reflexivity seen in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are a few of the ways in which the ROM attempts to narrate and weave a story
of Indigenous history and culture that creates a chronologically larger and older
history of Canada that continues today. This strategy most likely is a result of the
recommendations made by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Task
Force Report on Indigenous representation and interpretation within the museum
setting (Task Force Report, 1992). Another effective means of relaying Indigenous
history and culture to the museum s visitors is through the BMO Financial Theatre
located towards the back of the exhibit. This is a brilliant strategy employed by the
ROM because it uses traditional mediums of Indigenous oral history and storytelling
to teach a diverse group of visitors. However, it would have been interesting and
maybe more inclusive to Indigenous audiences to have the stories told not only in
English and French but in native languages as well. The addition of oral storytelling
and oral history is a fantastic method that can be employed to immerse visitors into
better understanding Indigenous traditions. With the sesquicentennial celebrations
occurring throughout Canada during the year, Canadian nationalism and national
identity is something that has been present everywhere via the Canadian media,
governments and various other outlets. The Royal Ontario Museum being a
The Lottery, By Shirley Jackson
Shirley Jackson s, The Lottery, is a story about the need to find a sin offering to
appease the community s superstition while everyone else plays the scapegoat.
The term and practice of using a sin offering and scapegoat can be traced back to
the Bible in Leviticus chapter 16. Aaron, the brother of Moses, is the high priest
for the nation of Israel. He is the only one who could enter into Holy of Holies, the
place in the Jewish tabernacle that held the ark of the covenant and where God
dwelt in a cloud of smoke, to offer sacrifices for the sins of the nation of Israel. This
ceremony could only be performed once and year and included the participation of
two male goats. Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats, one lot for the LORD and
the other lot for the scapegoat. Then Aaron shall offer the goat on which the lot for
the LORD fell, and make it a sin offering. But the goat on which the lot for the
scapegoat fell shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make atonement upon it,
to send it into the wilderness as the scapegoat (Leviticus 16:9 10). The goat that the
lot for the Lord fell upon was sacrifice for the sins of the nation. The goat the lot for
the scapegoat fell upon was released into the wilderness and represented God s
forgiveness of the nation s sins. The Lottery was about sacrifice, except the
townspeople used human sacrifices instead of animal sacrifices.
The story begins with boys collecting rocks. Collecting rock seems to be a thing that a
Elizabethan Vs. Jacobean Periods
The Elizabethan and Jacobean periods characterized the architecture of English
developments in large country houses. Antique styles of earlier times changed by the
architecture of Elizabethan bringing the beauty of Renaissance expose. Even
nowadays, there are everywhere examples of the Elizabethan architecture, places like
country houses, as a proof of the good work of builders and architects. The houses
were built to resist difficulties through the years.
At the present time, the choice of living counts on the income and the social class
with which is identified, just like at the past. This means that they were various kind
of homes. Countryside began to rectify. Small farm houses turned to great houses
with promoted gothic styles and Renaissance detail. The architectural style of
Elizabethan affected England from the late 1500 s until 1600 s. The earliest
characteristic was that churches construction stopped and the building of houses
started.
To express their wealth, the houses were built by strong statesmen, successful
merchants and the enriched nobility. As Elizabethan royalty increase, their homes
also became bigger and better, with gorgeous stone foundations with various levels
and a lot of rooms. The houses were looked and appreciated as symbols of social
class and personal status. Elizabethan visual expression of order and harmony, is the
most unique characteristic in these great dwellings, by the use of classical symmetry.
Symmetrical plans were popular. In
Honor And Glory In The Iliad Of Homer
Honor and glory are two important things for the heroes of Greece. Greek heroes
live all their life to pursue honor and glory, and they always want the society to
know their reputation. Honor and glory create many epic wars which take the lives
of many people, and it exists at every stage. One of them is the fall of Troy, and it is
a thing... whose glory shall perish never (Homer, Iliad2.324). For the Greeks, they
always appreciate the personal honor, family honor and the honor of the country, so
they always try to do everything to achieve that goal. Even they want that after they
die, the honor and the glory of them will persist forever. Honor and glory prove a
hero, so those are the foundations for everything in the Iliad of Homer. First,... Show

In some cases, people may achieve honor and also love, but there are a lot of cases
that people have to sacrifice love or honor because they cannot have both. It s a
very difficult choice for those who encounter this case. They must weigh the
decision very carefully because they choose the wrong one, they will regret for all
their life. For the Greeks, their honor is always paramount. If they have to choose
between love and honor, they will choose to sacrifice love to keep their honor. For
example, Agamemnon sacrifices his daughter to wrest the victory to him to gain
honor and glory. To stain with virgin blood a father s hands, and slay My daughter,
by the altar s side! (Aeschylus, Oresteia 232 233). By doing that, Agamemnon had
respect from his men, but he lost respect from his wife. Agamemnon was killed by

Essay on A Discourse of Remours for the Amorous
The great playwright Christopher Marlowe also wrote one of the most famous
lyrical poems in British literature, The Passionate Shepherd to His Love. In this
pastoral portrait, Marlowe reveals the shepherd s desire for a certain young lady to
be his love. In The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd, Sir Walter Raleighvoices the
young lady s answer to this invitation. The two poems share the identical structures
of rhyme scheme and meter. Also, the speakers share a similar desire for youthful
love. However, these similarities are overshadowed by the differences in the author s
backgrounds which, in turn, influence the starkly different characteristics of the
speakers of the poems their view of reality and their motive for love.

The few similarities in these two poems, however, are far overshadowed by the
differences that exist. When analyzing these differences, it is helpful to first examine
the contrasts in the lives of the authors. Christopher Marlowe was born into a lower
class family, but his education enabled him to work for a theatre company in
London. From there, he became a dramatist, a poet, and a playwright for the rest of
his short life. Marlowe was known for the interesting company that he kept. On the
night of his death, he was with three friends a moneylender, a con artist, and a spy
for the Queen s secret service. The four of them were eating and got into an
argument which ended with Marlowe being stabbed and killed. Sir Walter Raleigh
lived a quite different lifestyle. He was an explorer who led an exhibition to the
fabled City of Gold. He also founded several colonies and named the territory of
Virginia. This was done in honor of the virgin queen , Elizabeth I. This was no
surprise because Raleigh was a favored suitor of the Queen. She gave Raleigh the
honorary title Sir and lavished him with money and land. However, the Queen
discovered that Raleigh was, in fact, not interested in her, but was instead interested
in a lady named Bess Thockmorton. Because of this, the Queen promptly had Raleigh
imprisoned in the Tower of London for thirteen years. His great
Battered Woman Syndrome In Susan Glaspell s Trifles
While the male characters in Susan Glaspell s on act play Trifles are oblivious to
the distress of Mrs. Wright, it is clear to the female characters and any modern
reader that Mr. Wright and Mrs. Wright s marriage was unhappy at best. There is
also cause to believe that Mrs. Wright is responsible for her husband s death,
especially in light of Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters discovering the dead bird in Mrs.
Wright s sewing bag. An unhappy marriage does not excuse murder, but there is
evidence to support the claim that John Wright was mentally and/or physically
abusive. Such behavior on the part of Mr. Wright over an extended period of time
could result in a mental state known as Battered WomanSyndrome, a precursor to

Mr. and Mrs. Wright have been married for approximately thirty years. The way
Mrs. Wright s bird was killed and the way Mr. Wright was killed indicates that Mrs.
Wright is responsible for the death of her husband. The legal defense of murder as
a result of Battered Woman Syndrome is that, while the abused party was not in an
immediately life threatening situation, the prior abuse and the stress it caused
impacted her mental state to the point where she believed that killing the abuser
was the only way to save herself from him. This makes the killing an act of self
defense, rather than cold blooded murder. In a modern legal system, it is possible
that Mrs. Wright would be given a reduced sentence due to the nature of her

Moral Dilemma Essay
A moral dilemma is to be placed in a situation which involves conflicts between
moral requirements. These situations have a very apparent conflict between moral
imperatives such that obeying one will result in transgressing the other. This paper
will demonstrate choices, tragedy, respect, individuality, and values in the
following stories: The Moose and The Sparrow by Hugh Garner, The Yellow
Sweater by Hugh Garner, The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant, The Painted Door
by Sinclair Ross, and David by Earle Birney A choice is something one must make
frequently throughout each and every day of ones lifetime. Some choices may be
easier to make than others. One must choose to get out of bed each morning, what

If Mathilde Loisel chose to tell Mme. Forester that she lost the necklace in the first
place, Mme. and M. Loisel wouldn t have faced as many hardships to replace the
necklace. This reflects back to honesty being the best policy. In the story The
Painted Door John chose to leave Ann at home with a snow storm on its way so
that he could walk five miles to his fathers house to make sure he would be warm
and to help with the chores. John knew that Ann would be lonely, so he also chose
to walk an extra two miles to Steven s home to ask if he could keep Ann company
until John returned home. Ann chose to commit adultery. She loved John, she is
dedicated to him, but she felt neglected by him and was in desperate need for love
and comfort. She chose to let Steven to ease her emotions by taking advantage of her
situation. Ann decided not to stay faithful to John, but to give into her desires and

understanding of the unfulfilled woman that until this moment had lain within her

After September 11, 2001 I ve had trouble finding what makes me more angry; the
way the authorities handled the hurricane of Katrina or the way the Arabs were
treated. I have herd countless stories related to the 9/11 attack and until today I see
the way that has affected the lives of many. Through Eggers story, I was able to
comprehend more about the tragedy in New Orleans and even though I thought I
already knew about the aftermath that Katrina brought, Eggers grabbed my attention
by introducing me to the story of a Syrian American middle aged man named
Abdulrahman Zeitoun. He was a father of four, married to an American wife Kathy

Can you imagine sleeping in a tent on the the flat part of the roof? and during the
day trying to save others while fighting the high polluted water with not only trash
but dead people that once was shared this beautiful state. I couldn t help worry
about his wife Kathy, not only because she was alone with her four kids but if that
s not bad enough for her she is given a hard time because since she converted, her
hijabb brought a lot of controversies not only to the citizens of American but to her
own family as well. If that s not enough to keep you in the edge of your seat I was
worried along with her when she couldn t get a hold of him, especially when she
called her own home and some stranger answered her call. If I were her I would ve
lost it thinking the worst. The story soon looped into something more overwhelming
than the simple tale of the hurricane Katrina. Zeitoun was arrested in his own home
by six officers and it broke my heart that he actually thinks that they are there to help
him, little did he know that they were there to hurt him and falsely charge him with
looting. Obviously he was treated with the upmost unfair treatment because he was
Muslim. He was immediately sent to a makeshift prison and wasn t even allowed to
have his one call, of course, had he been American this wouldn t be the case.

Child Workers During The Industrial Revolution
There were child workers part of the Industrial Revolution and there were some kids
that worked in mines, and after this time the Africans became part of the Berlin
Conference. After the Berlin Conference Africa s lad became useless, and the
Africans were left with nothing. During both these time the child workers were more
negatively impacted.
The children started working when they were four or five years old, and they were
working full time jobs. They would wake up at five o clock in the morning to start
walking to work, and they would walk all the way to work and back by themselves.

they sat in all day and most of the night. The women seem to suffer especially from
this work, and are seldom , if ever, as straight as other women. There is a testimony
here, too, to the fact that deformities of the pelvis and consequent difficult, even
fatal, child bearing arise from the work of the women in the mines. As they took the
pain of not being able to have a child of their own, so did the African women and
men, just in a different way. They got their children taken away and some were
killed or raped. They got attacked and everyone was suffaring. They are armed in by
the government and sent into various African villages where they proceed to kill

Eating less added sugar may help. The problem is those who advocate quitting sugar

Growing up with my mother and sister and being the only male in my household
definitely played a part in my ability to recognize my emotions. In our society,
being a male is often portrayed as not acknowledging feelings and being strong
emotionally, but that s not what makes a great doctor. I was fortunate to go to a
medical school that stressed the importance of the humanistic aspect of medicine
and instilled these principals in me. It s not womanly to care for someone and
show emotion during times of loss and it s not feminine to acknowledge a patient
who is upset and comfort them. However, approaching the patient humanistically
can be difficult to accomplish while in the hospital. The lessons taught to me at my

During my internal medicine rotation I saw how fast the admissions piled up and
it was always a challenge to get the history, make the diagnosis and make a

and we had to be concise. The main worries were, did I make the correct diagnosis,
did I give the appropriate medications and of course did I miss something that could
be detrimental to their health? If a doctor does all of these correctly then he did a
good job. The patient survived, crisis averted, now on to the next patient, right? The
question is did he do a great job? What makes a doctor great in my mind is not just

Maria Theresa was generally well liked as she accomplished much for her people. In

that both Dr. Dre, a well known legendary artist and music producer and Jimmy

also unleashed Beats Music, a streaming music service.
The negotiations take place at a critical time: the music market has seen a massive

The Differences Of Alexander Hamilton And Thomas
Jeffersons
Like many in their time, Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson were friends
and on the same side to absolve colonial ties with Great Britain. But once the war
was over and independence was documented in the Treaty of Paris, the new business
of creating a new nation was at hand. During this time, it became apparent that those
who shared the same side during the revolution would now find themselves at odds
with one another. Both men had visions and desires for the new nation. However,
nearly one hundred years later and following the civil war, one vision in particular,
was closer to reality than the other. Both of these men were fundamental in the birth
of this nation, but their views on government, economics, and politics differ
substantially. Economically speaking, Hamilton wanted a growing and thriving
society based on trade and large manufacturing companies. In contrast, Jefferson
envisioned a society that was based mainly on the presence of many small farmers.
Jefferson particularly did not want large amounts of manufacturing to be done in the
US. He argued that manufactured goods could be imported from Europe, while the
US could remain primarily agrarian. During the Reconstruction period, the South
went through a major reconstruction and rebuilding phase. Although farming was
still a large part of the economy, large manufacturing facilities emerged as well. The
increase in large manufacturing facilities and international trade mirrored the vision
of Hamilton much more so than Jefferson s. Jefferson and Hamilton differed
widely in their views of politics and the structure of society. Jefferson envisioned an
egalitarian country vs Hamilton s aspirations of a more stratified society. Jefferson
wanted pure equality for everyone regardless of social, economic, or background. In
contrast, Hamilton wanted a growing manufacturing society were owners of
factories and large industries were politically more powerful than the people that
worked for them. Although the Reconstruction was designed to create a perfect
equal rights society, other than freeing the slaves, it failed miserably and was unlike
Jefferson s vision of an egalitarian society. Although the slaves were free, they still
didn t receive equal

been directed towards attempts at providing high quality service for real time
applications of IP based networks in the past decade. The core idea of these
techniques is to control the IP network congestion level which is the main cause of
delays/losses, and also imposes upper bounds on these events. Traffic policing is one
of the techniques used for this purpose. These techniques makes the assumption that
users generating flows/calls will specify the setup time by using Service Level

Therefore, these techniques are employed to ensure that the generated traffic is
within the conforms of previously agreed contracts. One of the most popular
traditional traffic policing techniques is the Leaky Bucket (LB). Average rate and the

Inventory Systems Paper
Inventory Systems Summary
Inventory control systems are used so that companies can track materials or
products. Before technology was so readily available, employees of companies
had a harder time tracking inventory. Today one can go into a large retailer and ask
an employee to check if an item is in stock and all the employee would have to do is
check a little hand held device. The four types of inventory systems that Team A
decided to research and discuss were: Advanced Tracking System (ATS), Perpetual
Inventory System, Periodic Inventory System, and Just In Time Inventory System.
Advanced Tracking System (ATS)
Advanced Tracking System, or ATS, is a system that operates standalone or front end
that interfaces with almost any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also well suited for the type of industries where there isn t much processing to
do, so the inventory exists at only one level (for sale) rather than at three levels (raw
materials, work in progress and for sale) (Kulkarni, 2010).
Periodic Inventory System A periodic inventory control is a system with no
continuous record of changes. Inventory is only tracked periodically instead of per
the transaction. At the end of a specific period, usually an accounting period;
quarterly or monthly, the ending inventory is found by a physical count. The cost of
each item is computed and deducted from the sum of purchases and the beginning of
the inventory to calculate cost of goods sold (Business Dictionary, 2010). The
periodic inventory system keeps the inventory balance at the same value that it was at
the beginning of the period. The inventory level is not updated after purchases, for
accounting purposes; this system uses an account called purchases at the end of the
period, rather than debiting inventory.
Just In Time (JIT) Inventory System
Just In Time inventory system known as JIT is one of inventory systems used in
companies to deliver a finished product to customers quickly to reduce the overall
ordering and inventory holding cost (Atkinson, 2005). The system proves to be most
effective for companies that lose money for holding a product in its inventory for an
extended period of time and

Comparing the American Presidential System and the Parliamentary System
As at present constituted, the federal government [of the United States of America]
lacks strength because its powers are divided, lacks promptness because its authorities
are multiplied, lacks wieldiness because its processes are roundabout, lacks efficiency
because its responsibility is indistinct and its action is without competent direction.
Although this statement, by Woodrow Wilson, was made in the 1920 s, it can still be
argued today on account of the fact that not much has changed in the way the United
States government operates. Still existing in the American way of governing is the
theory of the separation of powers, which was evolved within the ... Show more

parlance). These ministers are usually not simultaneously members of the legislature,
although their appointment may require the advice and consent of the legislative
branch. Because the senior officials of the executive branch are separately elected of
appointed, the presidential political system is characterized by a separation of
powers, wherein the executive and legislative branches are independent of one
another. Presidents have greater control over their cabinet appointees who serve at
the President s pleasure, and who are usually selected for reasons other than the
extent of their congressional support (as in parliamentary systems). The U.S.
represents the strongest form of presidentialism, in the sense that the powers of the
executive and legislative branches are separate, and legislatures (national and state)
often have significant powers.
The parliamentary system, unlike the American presidential system, is recognizable
by a fusion of powers between the legislative and executive branches. The Prime
Minister, who is the chief executive, may be elected to the legislature in the same
way that all other members are elected. The Prime Minister is the leader of the party
that wins the majority of votes to the legislature either de facto, or in some cases
through an election held by the legislature. The Prime Minister appoints Cabinet
Ministers. However, unlike in the presidential system, these members are typically

Utilitarianism Is Wrong And Consequentialism
The ethics of persons and happiness this week shows that as human beings we value
other people s happiness, as well as our own.
Utilitarianism is the highest principle of morality and to increase the welfare of
happiness is to balance pleasure over pain (Sandel). Utilitarian actions are correct if
they promote the welfare of the greatest amount and wrong if it decreases that
welfare or well being(Baggini and Fosl, 57).
Consequentialism is a moral theory that claims that the wrongness of actions results
in consequences (Baggini and Fosl, 56). It also is actions or rules that are right or
wrong which depends on the result being a good or bad consequence.
Hedonistic is actions that are correct for the greatest happiness and wrong if it
destroys that happiness (Baggini and Fosl, 57). Also, it is classified as being the
only thing that is of value in itself which is happiness and the only bad thing in itself

Illusion and Reality in Ryunoske AkutagawaВґs In a Grove
Japanese writer Ryunoske Akutagawa makes it difficult to distinguish the differences
between illusion and reality. It suited his ironic taste to play the illusionist who
leaves his audience staring blankly into a mirror . We see this in Akutagawa story In
a Grove because each of three main characters gives conflicting confession, and each
have a motivation to possibly lie. Tajomaru was the first of the three main characters
to confess, and throughout his confession he is motivated to establish a greater
reputation for himself knowing he has nothing to lose. Tajomaru willingly
confesses to the police commissioner that he was the one who murdered Takehiko.
He later elevates himself to the same level as the police commissioner. Am I the
only one who kills people? You, you don t use your swords. You kill people with
your power, with your money. Sometimes you kill them on the pretext of working
for their good. It s true they don t bleed. They are in the best of health, but all the
same you ve killed them. It s hard to say who is a greater sinner, you or me . By
elevating himself to the same status as the commissioner he is making himself an
equal to justify that both of them are murderers and that they are the same. Tajomaru
also told the police commissioner that he untied Takehiko before there battle. I untied
him and told him to cross sword . In this quote Tajomaru wants to be view as a fair
and honorable person. He further establishes his reputation when he described the
Essay on Cycles of Violence in The Battler
Cycles of Violence in The Battler
Ernest Hemingway s The Battler provides a continued account of Nick Adams
dangerous and violent life. Previous stories compiled in The Short Stories edition of
Hemingway s work documents some of the tribulations of Nick Adams, one of
Hemingway s protagonists. Apparently, Nickhas been plagued by moments of sheer
humility, terror, and immutable violence. In the Hemingway short story Indian
Camp, Nick is a young boy who witnesses a dreadfully difficult birth by a Native
American woman, enduring all the while the hubris of his surgeon father, who is
contestibly insensitive to Nick s innocence. Once the birth has ended, the husband of
the woman is found with a freshly slit throat, again ... Show more content on

His state of affairs does not improve, however. Nick happens upon a camp of tow
men, one of whom is an ex prizefighter, Ad Francis. Upon arrival, Nick calls out,
Hello, and is greeted by Ad with Where d you get that shiner? (p. 130) Not a typical
response, but Nick is about to learn he is not in a set of typical circumstances. Ad
Francis face is described queerly formed and mutilated...putty in color, with a
sunken nose, slitted eyes and with only one ear. (p. 131) Clearly, the implication is
that Ad Francis has seen some beatings in his day. This is confirmed by the man
himself: They all bust their hands on me...they couldn t hurt me. (p. 132) The
extreme physical toll taken by Ad has affected him mentally. Listen, he tells Nick,
I m not quite right. (p. 132) Like Nick, Ad is a man who has encountered violence
and humiliation all of his life. Countless blows have found their mark on his now
deformed face. In a way, Ad is a physical representation of Nick s fortitude and
perserverance, a fellow sufferer whose pain has surfaced in a more tangible way, who
takes immediate notice of things like black eyes.
Soon after Nick s introduction to Ad, another man approaches the fire. Nick is
introduced to Bugs as Ad s pal...he s crazy too. (p. 133) Physically, Bugs is a stark
contrast to Ad s figure: tall, black, low voiced and calm. Bugs begins to cook a
dinner of ham and eggs over the campfire that the

The Analysis of The Irish Stew by J.Jerome
Jerome Klapka Jerome was an English novelist and humorist. His books are loved
by readers even nowadays, though Jerome s contemporaries didn t give high praise
of his works and some literature critics thought that his novels and romances didn t
concern serious and actual problems of life being a little bit senselessness. But these
suggestions were erroneous. On the contrary we can see his attitude to modern
English reality and how he discloses absurdity of well established norms of behavior,
morals and manners. Jerome is best known for the humorous travelogue Three Men in
a Boat.
The novel narrates about three fellows George, Harris, Jerome, who discuss their
problems with health of which they suffer so much. So they take a decision to ...

The author uses different stylistic devises to communicate to reader his image and
a comic situation happened to him as exact as he can. Actions of George seem to
be really silly because he tries to present himself as an expert in this sphere, we can
understand by his yearning to make a dinner, for example he wants to show his
friends what could be done up the river in the way of cooking. And soon in the end
of the extract reader can see the result of his attempts to do an Irish stew.
Harry plays there a role of such kind of a man who is a chap and simpleton. We can
see the funny side of the situation when he is ready to add a dead water rat into the
stew. He is a nice fellow and takes everything easy despite of George s big words
about the precedent.
Special attention should be also paid to the narrator Jerome. It s a usual thing the
presence of the narrator in Jerome s works of art. Here the narrator Jerome plays an
important role, it means that he steadily observes everything that happens and notices
all the nonsense of life, and moreover he comments on this or that situation speaking
ironically of it. For example the situation with the dead water rat, he thinks over if it
is such kind of sarcasm or a real desire to make a contribution to the dinner. The
purpose of the narrator is not the fighting with man s vices, it is a desire to show
things as they are not in satiric way but with the

Methane Hydrates And Its Effects On The Environment
Essay
Methane hydrates, also known as Methane clathrates, are rapidly becoming a topic of
interest to many looking for alternative energy sources that would ease our reliance
on fossil fuels while scientists are working on innovative new ways to extract the
energy with minimal damage to the climate. These natural gasdeposits resting under
ocean sediment appear very alluring to governments and other entities looking for
more energy independence. Nations look at energy independence favorably as a
way to stay geopolitically independent and perhaps gain an upper hand in trade with
nations that still rely on imported energy. The total amount of carbon located in gas
hydrates in the ocean exceeds the amount of all the oil, gas, and coal currently being
refined in total (Nersesian 2007).

Noor Inayat Khan Biography
The biographical documentary Enemy of the Reich: The Noor Inayat Khan Story
discloses the life story of a British radio operator who during the World War II was
sent to the occupied France to perform secretive and dangerous tasks. Noor Inayat
Khan was one of the main assets of the secret British Agency SOE in 1940. Noor s
life and service time were short but very productive. To understand if Noor s life
was prosperous according to the Aristotelian concept of ethics, we should examine
her background, personal values and virtues, and fulfillment of her life perspectives.
Noor s childhood had a big impact on her character. Her father s doctrine played a big
role of forming Noor s values and beliefs. She was seeing a lot of people from

We cannot know for sure what her main reason to join the British SOE was. She
differently had nothing else to lose; therefore, she had fewer weaknesses that
many others. According to the Aristotelian theory of happiness, human happiness
might be reached by exercising rational activities. Human happiness consists of
positive human values and virtues. As we know, Noor s life decisions were based
on her values and beliefs. She was dedicated to her work and she acted in interests
of other people. She knew that her work in France is dangerous, but she had no
doubts of performing them. She knew her tasks well and she was performing them
the best way she could. By doing so, she was fulfilling her human nature. Her
biography reveals her strongest values self sufficiency, generosity, and
commitment Of course Noor was afraid of death, but she stayed faithful to her
country and did not give away valuable information. The decision of staying loyal
to the SOE Agency points us to Noor s main value sacrifice. She prefers to die
instead of giving in and cooperate with Reich. According to the Aristotelian concept
of magnanimity, Noor is a magnanimous person. She is afraid of a reasonable thing,
but she had chosen an honorable death for keeping national secrets. Most likely, she
questioned herself, if a good person, in her case, it might be her father, would give
Actions Speak Louder Than Words
Actions speak louder than words. Just one of the many sayings my father always
said. He had a few he liked, but I believe this was his favorite. He is a very proud
man, with great morals. He served in the Vietnam War in the Marine core. He is
the type of man where you never had to guess how he felt, he was more than happy
to let you know. Being the oldest of six, he had the responsibility of caring for his
siblings. He was not able to enjoy the joys of a usual childhood. He had the burden of
helping his struggling parents, hold the family together by working very young, and
acting as another parentto the other kids. There were no summer camps, vacations,
or free time for him. Only changing dipers, cleaning the house, and going to work.
He once told me The only time I felt like a normal kid was at school After he
graduated high school, he joined the Marine s. He felt that he had already been
living a very structured life and believed it would be a smooth transition. He was
right. He was finally able to be the man he wanted to be, not another parent in a full
house. Although there were many guidelines he had to follow in the military, he
enjoyed the fact that he could be himself. He doesn t talk a lot about the war. Only
some stories of partying and having fun. The parts about the war itself he keeps to
himself. I can only imagine some things he s seen, and had to do. He was a gunner
on a helicopter. Sometimes he provided ground troops
The Movie Crash By Paul Higgins
In the film, Crash by Paul Higgins there is the incorporation of numerous
perspectives and theories of societal issues. The film brought up various issues we
face in our world today such as racial discrimination, stereotyping, and prejudice
etc. One theory that is seen is the symbolic interaction theory. There is the usage of
different symbols in the film. Each character in the film comes from a different
culture; socioeconomic background etc. and they each have their own story. There
are many hidden messages in the film through the usage of symbols. The title of
the film is Crash which can be interpreted in many different ways. In the beginning
of the film, I believed the title to just speak about car collisions or accidents, but
throughout the film you re able to see collisions between diverse ethnic groups and
socioeconomic status. There are also many different vehicles used in the films,
which could also be a symbol representing class and wealth. Ludacris s character
named Anthony stated, You don t have any idea why they put great big windows on
buses, one reason only, to humiliate the people of color riding on them. () In
Anthony s perspective, riding a bus meant that you re poor and or part of the
minority population. At the end of the film when he actually rode a bus it allowed
him to see that he was wrong. Anthony saw individuals from different cultures and
statuses and understood he was wrong about his pre judgments. A vehicle used by the
two wealthier
Gender In Dracula
The Gothic horror novel Dracula by Bram Stoker introduced a new literary taste in
the Victorian era, one that tends to be one of the most read literary genres to this age.
The novel excavates several themes like role of women in the Victorian society,
immigration, sexual conventions, colonization and post colonialism.
Dracula has been a subject to major literary criticism upon its release and its
controversial portrayals tend to be a part of modern literary discussion as well. The
novel received acclaim from literary critics on being one of the best pieces of gothic
horror fiction of the century.
Though released in 1897, Dracula gained prominence with the onset of 20th century.
American theatre and movie productions played a key role in visually dramatizing
the appearance of Count Dracula, the sisters and contemporary social tension. The
novel has never been out of print since the early 20th century.

Mina is a true woman, and there is naught in common between them. They are
devils of the Pit! (Pg 87) Stoker s distaste for the changing era can be derived from
Jonathan s quote. Stoker presented Mina as a conventional Victorian woman,
passive and submissive. On the contrary the three sisters are denoted as prototypes
of New Women in the society, who were sexually aggressive, active and voluptuous.
During the mid 19th century, there were radical alterations in social and political
positions of women and the prestige of educated and working women were elevated.
It may be concluded that as per Stoker s taste, the newfound class of New Women
appeared quite free and may have had sexual relationship with the same gender along
with the opposite one, which may have been estimated as a ground to social
aftermaths like homosexuality and venereal disease. Stoker may have intended to
present New Women as immoral and threatening,
Theodor Herzl Analysis
The European Jewish thinkers, Theodor Herzl, Ahad Ha am and Simon Dubnow, all
agreed that Jews were to experience severe problems by the late nineteenth century.
However, they differed in their assessment of the value of Jewish life and culture in
the Diaspora. Furthermore, they differed in their expectations for the future of Jewish
life and culture. This midterm will address the differences these European Jewish
thinkers had, specifically on their views on language, culture, and location of the
Jewish state. It will also compare what they believed was the solution to the problems
Jewsfaced and how they went about to remedy these problems through the political

He goes on quite extensively in The Jewish State on how he felt the new state
should be structured in terms of labour and economics and, according to him, the
migration of Jews into the new state would be slow and gradual. It would start with
the poorest of Jews who will go first to cultivate the soil (Herzl The Jewish State )
and construct the means of transportation. Through their labour trade will be
created, ultimately creating markets and attracting more settlers. The political
ideology that he truly felt would accomplish this sort of state was one that created
an aristocratic republic form of government which would satisfy the ambitious
spirit in [Jews] (Herzl The Jewish State ). The form of government had to be an
aristocratic one with the Society of Jews being the main vessel because short
sighted or ill disposed (Herzl The Jewish State ) people could not be the ones
making or interpreting the decisions. If there were any oppositions, they needed to
be supressed by the Society so that mistakes could not be made in this new state. In
regards to language and culture, Theodor Herzl was an intellectual from central

goods allowed individual to feel as if they are part of something bigger. Attaining
goods such as new Refined taste was proof of gentility, a term that became
synonymous with the attributes associated with wealth and sophistication. With the
idea of wealth and sophistication, slaves became in high demand for profits to the

When Africans fell in the hand of black traders, they experience horrific sufferings,
they are cuffed, starved and made them travel long distance without getting

Economic Growth Essay

  • 1. Economic Growth Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of economic growth presents a unique set of challenges. Firstly, delving into the intricate web of economic theories, statistical data, and historical perspectives requires a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Navigating through the complexities of economic models, growth indicators, and their multifaceted implications demands a thorough grasp of economic principles. Furthermore, the essay should not merely regurgitate information but should also demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills. The ability to synthesize diverse perspectives, analyze trends, and make informed predictions about the future of economic growth adds another layer of difficulty to the writing process. Incorporating relevant examples, case studies, and real-world applications is crucial to substantiate arguments and provide a practical dimension to the theoretical framework. This requires extensive research and a keen eye for selecting pertinent and current examples that resonate with the topic. Moreover, striking a balance between maintaining a coherent narrative and addressing the various facets of economic growth is challenging. The essay should seamlessly transition between macroeconomic factors, policy implications, and microeconomic considerations, ensuring a holistic and nuanced exploration of the subject. Lastly, communicating complex economic concepts in a clear and engaging manner for a diverse audience poses a final hurdle. Striking the right tone, avoiding jargon, and ensuring accessibility without oversimplification is essential to effectively convey ideas. In conclusion, writing an essay on economic growth involves navigating through intricate economic concepts, conducting thorough research, synthesizing diverse perspectives, and presenting complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner. It is a task that demands a combination of in-depth knowledge, critical thinking skills, and effective communication abilities. • 2. Sub-Saharan Africa The scramble for Africa during the late 1870 s had caused many European nations to invest and get there hands on piece of Africa and also did this with minimal conflicts among each other. As a result, much of Africa was colonized and countries such as Britain and France had much territory and influence in Africa. Therefore, colonization led to lots of exploitations and for African countries to lose there right to govern their own country. However, the rise of independence began near the late 1950 s and the 1960 s and can be exemplified through the ending of World War II, educated African elites and nationalism. These three main factors can be displayed through events and forces that happened within the continent as well as outside of it. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lastly, the another example that displays the product of both internal and external events and forces was nationalism in the Sub Saharan African countries. A lot of the times the countries that were under colonial rule did not have lots of benefits for the people living in them. For instance, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga wanted to form a socialist party in Kenya and realized that the support that he received was not only from people who were at disadvantaged across the length and breadth of the country, whom his proposed reforms were to benefit but almost from all sectors such as the rich and poor of the Luo, which was his own ethnic group (Reader 620). This unification helped make them become stronger. In addition, another example would be Chief Obafemi Awolowo became a hero for almost all the classes in Yoruba land and was hero for the Nigerian independence. This was not easy because a lot of the times many of the ethnic groups would not get along. Moreover, the injustices that often occurs of colonial rule inspired nationalist movements that united the most diverse ethnic group in the drive for independence (Reader 632). Another example that displays how nationalism helped lead to decolonization is what occurred in the Congo. First, Lumumba was a vital member that helped lead Congo into their independence. Lumumba believed that the congolese elite should enjoy the same freedom and rights as

Further, we discovered administration of low dose estrogen has a beneficial efficiency in treatment of EAE condition, although it will be necessary to perform supplementary investigations in the future
  • 5. Correctional Facilities in The United States Essay Throughout United States correctional history, it has been heavily debated as to whether or not prisons have positive effects on inmates and society. Today, many prisons attempt to have a positive impact on the lives of the inmates, while giving society the satisfaction on punishing criminals. The correctional system achieves this goal through the use of four techniques. The four techniques used by the correctional system include rehabilitation, deterrence, incapacitation, and retribution. These four methods work individually as well as collectively to produce felons who can be productive citizens of society. Ethnicity And Ethnicity Literature Review The concept of ethnicity is not clearly defined is social science research However, it is often associated with culture, nationality and language of defined groups (Chandra, 2006; Shah and Davis, 2017). In 2015, the Office of Management and Budget revised the Standards for the Classification of Federal Data on Race and Ethnicity (See Table 1). Most children grow out of night terrors by the time they are adolescents to adults. But it still brings up concern because with night terrors comes the behaviors like walking in your sleep, punching, kicking and choking someone you love. Once woken, the sleepers will have no recollection of what they were scared about. Occasionally some adults may be able to remember bits and pieces of their terror. Most night terrors come about if a person had something tragic happen to them sometime throughout their life. For instance if a child was beaten repetitively or sexually assaulted, they are more prone to night terrors. The last common sleep disorder is, Narcolepsy which is a disorder of REM sleep, involving sleep onset REM periods and sudden daytime

This company provides CRM solutions in the form of software as a service leased over the Internet, as opposed to software bought and installed on machines locally. It was founded in 1999 by former Oracle executive Marc Benioff, and has since grown to 2,600 employees and earned $748 million in revenue in 2007. However, it s still too soon to tell whether this prediction will turn out to be true. Salesforce faces significant challenges as it continues to grow and refine its business. The first challenge comes from increased competition, both from traditional industry leaders and new challengers hoping to replicate Salesforce s success. Microsoft, SAP, and Oracle have rolled out subscription based versions of their CRM products in response to Salesforce. Smaller competitors like NetSuite also have made some inroads against Salesforce s market share. Analysts predict that Microsoft has a chance to compete with Salesforce by developing merely an acceptable on demand CRM product, because of the average customer s already established familiarity with Microsoft applications. Also, Microsoft plans to offer their product at half the price of Salesforce.com, using a tactic they have employed with great effect in other marketplaces to pressure their competitors. Salesforce.com still has plenty of catching up to do to reach the size and market share of their larger competitors. As of 2007, SAP s CRM market share was 25.7 percent, compared to only 7 percent for Salesforce.com. IBM s customer base includes 9,000 software companies that run their applications on their software and that are likelier to choose a solution offered by IBM over Salesforce.com. Another challenge for Salesforce.com is to expand its business model into other

  • 11. Tess Of The DUrbervilles Analysis Tess of the D Urbervilles, published in 1891, challenges the social customs of Victorian England. Thomas Hardy uses the main character, Tess, to condemn views of sexual morality and marriage common in the nineteenth century. Hardy s willingness to question the contemporary views of his day made the novel controversial when it first came out. Tess of the D Urbervilles occurs in the fictional town of Wessex, England. Using this setting, Hardy depicts changes, caused by the rise of modern technology and industry, transpiring throughout rural England. Through Tess, Hardy emphasizes the novel s bucolic setting which represents freedom from the city s corruption. Like other pastoralworks, Tess of the D Urbervilles portrays the country in an idealized or romantic way. By referencing specific pastoral elements belonging to nature, Hardy structures the text to develop the theme of fate. The tragedies that befall Tess appear to be inevitable, giving the impression that fate is punishing Tess for the wrongdoings of her ancestors. Through the theme of class division, Hardy expands upon the notion of fate and questions whether social status should be based on blood or wealth. By emphasizing the rural setting and marriage customs of his time, Hardy distinguishes between marriage for social gain and true pastoral love. The rich country setting of Tess of the D Urbervilles creates a tone of femininity and nature that emphasizes the thematic portrayal of fate and class division. Infused with other pastoral elements, these themes and motifs classify the novel as a pastoral tragedy. Thomas Hardydepicts a strong connection between women and nature. Women in Tess of the D Urbervilles are depicted as being more in touch with the outdoors. The special relationship women have with nature separates them from their male counterparts, who are more in tune with industrialization. This parallelism between women and nature is best witnessed through Tess, who Hardy describes as a daughter of nature (Hardy.135). Angel Clare associates Tess with nature when he describes her as a visionary essence of woman, calling her Artemis, Demeter and other fanciful names (Hardy.146) By comparing Tess to Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, and

I chose this specific exhibit because I had spent so much time there in the past as a visitor, a historian and an anthropologist, but never as a student of Museum Studies. However, on my visit on 26 September 2017, I noticed a few changes to the exhibit in regards to the collection in the gallery. These changes I believe, were made strategically by the curators and the Indigenous advisors for a few reasons including the celebration of Canada s sesquicentennial and/or due to the Task Force Report, and general reflexivity seen in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These are a few of the ways in which the ROM attempts to narrate and weave a story of Indigenous history and culture that creates a chronologically larger and older history of Canada that continues today. This strategy most likely is a result of the recommendations made by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Task Force Report on Indigenous representation and interpretation within the museum setting (Task Force Report, 1992). Another effective means of relaying Indigenous history and culture to the museum s visitors is through the BMO Financial Theatre located towards the back of the exhibit. This is a brilliant strategy employed by the ROM because it uses traditional mediums of Indigenous oral history and storytelling to teach a diverse group of visitors. However, it would have been interesting and maybe more inclusive to Indigenous audiences to have the stories told not only in English and French but in native languages as well. The addition of oral storytelling and oral history is a fantastic method that can be employed to immerse visitors into better understanding Indigenous traditions. With the sesquicentennial celebrations occurring throughout Canada during the year, Canadian nationalism and national identity is something that has been present everywhere via the Canadian media, governments and various other outlets. • 13. The Lottery, By Shirley Jackson Shirley Jackson s, The Lottery, is a story about the need to find a sin offering to appease the community s superstition while everyone else plays the scapegoat. The term and practice of using a sin offering and scapegoat can be traced back to the Bible in Leviticus chapter 16. Aaron, the brother of Moses, is the high priest for the nation of Israel. He is the only one who could enter into Holy of Holies, the place in the Jewish tabernacle that held the ark of the covenant and where God dwelt in a cloud of smoke, to offer sacrifices for the sins of the nation of Israel. This ceremony could only be performed once and year and included the participation of two male goats. Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats, one lot for the LORD and the other lot for the scapegoat. Then Aaron shall offer the goat on which the lot for the LORD fell, and make it a sin offering. But the goat on which the lot for the scapegoat fell shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make atonement upon it, to send it into the wilderness as the scapegoat (Leviticus 16:9 10). The goat that the lot for the Lord fell upon was sacrifice for the sins of the nation. The goat the lot for the scapegoat fell upon was released into the wilderness and represented God s forgiveness of the nation s sins. The Lottery was about sacrifice, except the townspeople used human sacrifices instead of animal sacrifices. The story begins with boys collecting rocks. Collecting rock seems to be a thing that a

Greek heroes live all their life to pursue honor and glory, and they always want the society to know their reputation. Honor and glory create many epic wars which take the lives of many people, and it exists at every stage. One of them is the fall of Troy, and it is a thing... whose glory shall perish never (Homer, Iliad2.324). For the Greeks, they always appreciate the personal honor, family honor and the honor of the country, so they always try to do everything to achieve that goal. When analyzing these differences, it is helpful to first examine the contrasts in the lives of the authors. Christopher Marlowe was born into a lower class family, but his education enabled him to work for a theatre company in London. From there, he became a dramatist, a poet, and a playwright for the rest of his short life. Marlowe was known for the interesting company that he kept. On the night of his death, he was with three friends a moneylender, a con artist, and a spy for the Queen s secret service. The four of them were eating and got into an argument which ended with Marlowe being stabbed and killed. Sir Walter Raleigh lived a quite different lifestyle. He was an explorer who led an exhibition to the fabled City of Gold. He also founded several colonies and named the territory of Virginia. This was done in honor of the virgin queen , Elizabeth I. This was no surprise because Raleigh was a favored suitor of the Queen. She gave Raleigh the honorary title Sir and lavished him with money and land. However, the Queen discovered that Raleigh was, in fact, not interested in her, but was instead interested in a lady named Bess Thockmorton. Because of this, the Queen promptly had Raleigh imprisoned in the Tower of London for thirteen years. His great

Battered Woman Syndrome In Susan Glaspell s Trifles While the male characters in Susan Glaspell s on act play Trifles are oblivious to the distress of Mrs. Wright, it is clear to the female characters and any modern reader that Mr. Wright and Mrs. Wright s marriage was unhappy at best. There is also cause to believe that Mrs. Wright is responsible for her husband s death, especially in light of Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters discovering the dead bird in Mrs. Wright s sewing bag. This makes the killing an act of self defense, rather than cold blooded murder. But once the war was over and independence was documented in the Treaty of Paris, the new business of creating a new nation was at hand. During this time, it became apparent that those who shared the same side during the revolution would now find themselves at odds with one another. Both men had visions and desires for the new nation. However, nearly one hundred years later and following the civil war, one vision in particular, was closer to reality than the other. Both of these men were fundamental in the birth of this nation, but their views on government, economics, and politics differ substantially. Economically speaking, Hamilton wanted a growing and thriving society based on trade and large manufacturing companies. In contrast, Jefferson envisioned a society that was based mainly on the presence of many small farmers. Jefferson particularly did not want large amounts of manufacturing to be done in the US. He argued that manufactured goods could be imported from Europe, while the US could remain primarily agrarian. During the Reconstruction period, the South went through a major reconstruction and rebuilding phase. Although farming was still a large part of the economy, large manufacturing facilities emerged as well. The increase in large manufacturing facilities and international trade mirrored the vision of Hamilton much more so than Jefferson s. Jefferson and Hamilton differed widely in their views of politics and the structure of society. Jefferson envisioned an egalitarian country vs Hamilton s aspirations of a more stratified society. Jefferson wanted pure equality for everyone regardless of social, economic, or background. In contrast, Hamilton wanted a growing manufacturing society were owners of factories and large industries were politically more powerful than the people that worked for them. Although the Reconstruction was designed to create a perfect equal rights society, other than freeing the slaves, it failed miserably and was unlike Jefferson s vision of an egalitarian society. Although the slaves were free, they still didn t receive equal

INTRODUCTION A significant amount of research efforts have been directed towards attempts at providing high quality service for real time applications of IP based networks in the past decade. The core idea of these techniques is to control the IP network congestion level which is the main cause of delays/losses, and also imposes upper bounds on these events. Traffic policing is one of the techniques used for this purpose. These techniques makes the assumption that users generating flows/calls will specify the setup time by using Service Level Agreement (SLAs) i.e. the characteristics of the traffic that they emit to the network. Therefore, these techniques are employed to ensure that the generated traffic is within the conforms of previously agreed contracts. One of the most popular traditional traffic policing techniques is the Leaky Bucket (LB). Average rate and the maximum burst size/length of a

  • 34. Inventory Systems Paper Inventory Systems Summary Inventory control systems are used so that companies can track materials or products. Before technology was so readily available, employees of companies had a harder time tracking inventory. Today one can go into a large retailer and ask an employee to check if an item is in stock and all the employee would have to do is check a little hand held device. The four types of inventory systems that Team A decided to research and discuss were: Advanced Tracking System (ATS), Perpetual Inventory System, Periodic Inventory System, and Just In Time Inventory System. It is also well suited for the type of industries where there isn t much processing to do, so the inventory exists at only one level (for sale) rather than at three levels (raw materials, work in progress and for sale) (Kulkarni, 2010). Periodic Inventory System A periodic inventory control is a system with no continuous record of changes. Inventory is only tracked periodically instead of per the transaction. At the end of a specific period, usually an accounting period; quarterly or monthly, the ending inventory is found by a physical count. The cost of each item is computed and deducted from the sum of purchases and the beginning of the inventory to calculate cost of goods sold (Business Dictionary, 2010). The periodic inventory system keeps the inventory balance at the same value that it was at the beginning of the period. The inventory level is not updated after purchases, for accounting purposes; this system uses an account called purchases at the end of the period, rather than debiting inventory. Just In Time (JIT) Inventory System Just In Time inventory system known as JIT is one of inventory systems used in companies to deliver a finished product to customers quickly to reduce the overall ordering and inventory holding cost (Atkinson, 2005). The system proves to be most effective for companies that lose money for holding a product in its inventory for an extended period of time and

Comparing the American Presidential System and the Parliamentary System As at present constituted, the federal government [of the United States of America] lacks strength because its powers are divided, lacks promptness because its authorities are multiplied, lacks wieldiness because its processes are roundabout, lacks efficiency because its responsibility is indistinct and its action is without competent direction. Although this statement, by Woodrow Wilson, was made in the 1920 s, it can still be argued today on account of the fact that not much has changed in the way the United States government operates. These ministers are usually not simultaneously members of the legislature, although their appointment may require the advice and consent of the legislative branch. Because the senior officials of the executive branch are separately elected of appointed, the presidential political system is characterized by a separation of powers, wherein the executive and legislative branches are independent of one another. Presidents have greater control over their cabinet appointees who serve at the President s pleasure, and who are usually selected for reasons other than the extent of their congressional support (as in parliamentary systems). The U.S. represents the strongest form of presidentialism, in the sense that the powers of the executive and legislative branches are separate, and legislatures (national and state) often have significant powers. The parliamentary system, unlike the American presidential system, is recognizable by a fusion of powers between the legislative and executive branches. The Prime Minister, who is the chief executive, may be elected to the legislature in the same way that all other members are elected. The Prime Minister is the leader of the party that wins the majority of votes to the legislature either de facto, or in some cases through an election held by the legislature. Utilitarianism is the highest principle of morality and to increase the welfare of happiness is to balance pleasure over pain (Sandel). Utilitarian actions are correct if they promote the welfare of the greatest amount and wrong if it decreases that welfare or well being(Baggini and Fosl, 57). Consequentialism is a moral theory that claims that the wrongness of actions results in consequences (Baggini and Fosl, 56). It also is actions or rules that are right or wrong which depends on the result being a good or bad consequence. Hedonistic is actions that are correct for the greatest happiness and wrong if it destroys that happiness (Baggini and Fosl, 57).
