ABSTRACT
Observed meteorological data collected by two different types of automatic weather stations (AWS)
were statistically analysed in order to verify if there were a difference in the measurements due to the
different sensor types. The hypothesis is that the different types of AWS s will not be statistically
different. Data from January 2014 to February 2016 for six places in South Africa were analysed.
Significant differences were observed for rainfall totals, temperatures and wind speeds by using the
Wilcoxon Mann Whitney test.
1. Introduction
The objective of this study was to compare observed rainfall amounts, maximum air temperature,
minimum air temperature and maximum wind speeds at daily periods from two different types of
automatic weather stations. An automatic weather station (AWS) is defined by the WMO (1992a) as a
meteorological station where observations are made and from which the data is transmitted
automatically. The AWS was designed to accurately measure and record standard meteorological
variables. The design of AWS s may vary from measurement rates, methods on how the data is
retrieved or the intervals of when the data is reported (Tanner, 1990).
All functional AWS s must consist of certain specific features. These

So many companies segment their customers by size and other such criteria because this approach is
easy to carry out, and the companies falling into these gross categories do tend to have similar needs.
But to have a truly actionable segmentation scheme, you must divide your customers into much more
precise groupings based specifically on their needs.

because the obvious differences among customers age, income, geography, and so on usually don t
correspond to their preferences for, say, shampoos, books, or even clothing. To solve this problem,
consumer goods companies have developed elaborate statistical mechanisms, such as dual objective
segmentation.1 But because these complicated algorithms are not typically used by business to
business (B2B) suppliers, those companies divide their world by weak identifiers such as size and

I Attended A Narcotics Anonymous ( Na ) Meeting
Meeting Description For the self help meeting in regards for my reaction paper, I attended a Narcotics
Anonymous (NA) meeting. NA is a nonprofit, community based, 12 step recovery organization for
recovering drug addicts (Bowens, 2011, p. 1). The meeting I attended took place outside on a Saturday
afternoon at Magnolia Park in Garden Grove, California. It is an open group tag meeting, where one
speaker will tag another person to share and welcome for anyone to attend. It was very easy to locate
the meeting, as it was right in front of the park s only parking lot with members sitting in a circle on
benches and lawn chairs. The meeting started at 12:00pm and ended around 1:30pm. The group
facilitator was a Caucasian man in his forties named Bob. Bob had been in and out of recovery for
nearly 16 years, but recently relapsed in August of 2015. He has experienced four overdoses since
then, and is on his way to working the 12 steps again. Bob has been sober for about six weeks now. In
the group meeting, there were 20 members (four female, 16 male) in this meeting, composed of 75%
Caucasian, 20% Hispanic/Latino, 5% African American, and 5% Asian (just me). Majority of the
group members appeared to be in the middle class, hypothesized from listening to their stories of
owning cars, homes, apartments, taking care of children, and having employment. Many of them

people kill people. First, I want to define a question that people have. What is the definition of a mass
shooting? Since I will be talking about this a little I want to define a mass shooting. There is not a
specific definition of mass shooting, an accepted one says that an incident in which at least four
people are shot (injured or killed) is considered a mass shooting. The FBI, only considers an incident a

By making the Romans think about this topic, Brutus gains support and the audience feels like the
death of Caesar is justified. After Brutus finishes his speech, Antony speaks about his opinion on the
issue; unlike Brutus, Antony acts slyly and communicates a very manipulative tone to persuade the
Romans to rebel. Because of Antony s use of parallelism, he creates vivid reasoning for his speech. He
states, I come here to bury Caesar, not to praise him (III.ii.44). By using this device, he shows the

In Jewish culture, the Sabbath, or the day of rest is on Saturday, rather than Sunday like the Christians
or Friday like their Muslim counterparts. By having a separate day entirely from their peers, the

Today was one of the hardest days I have experienced in my lifetime. We dug trenches, moved
equipment, and repaired broken equipment from sun up until sun down. To make this even worse, all

ground is important because if some how they were to break through our trenches here they would

surely dead as soon as the orders were sent. Running across no man s land was one of the most
treacherous tasks we ever had. I have only been sent out twice, luckily both times I have been able to
retreat back to our trenches safely after our job was done. Both sides ran at each other like this all day
during battles. As you can tell this hardly lead to any good as hundreds died and only feet were gained
if you were lucky. Today was no different, we engaged in this same type of warfare for hours. I saw
fellow soldiers die attempting to cross to the German s side, and I even personally pulled the trigger
