Self-Control And Courage In The Spartan King...
In Thucydides History, the Spartan king Archidamus outlines the values he idealizes in the Spartan
soldiers, namely self control and discipline which in turn create shame and courage. These values are
similar to those defined by Socrates as vital to the formation of virtuous guardians of kallipollis in
Books 2 and 3 of The Republic. Socrates ideal values are courage, moderation and a sense of shame.
Thus, since there are parallels in the values idealized by both Archidamus and Socrates, it is probable
that both the Spartan soldiers and the guardians of kallipollis will resemble each other to an extent.
Archidamus conception of courage is derived from the notions of self control, discipline and shame. In
his speech, he warns the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Courage will be taught by censoring fearful stories of the Underworld and Hades so that the guardians
will be fearless of death (Republic, 386b). Moderation and self control will be taught by removing
stories of gods and heroes living in excess (Republic, 390a d) and of men lamenting (Republic, 388a
d). The modes and rhythms should follow similarly, culminating in an education of music and poetry
that teaches these ideals of courage and moderation. Physical training must be simple as a good soul
that is trained in music and poetry will produce a good body (Republic, 403d). This combined with the
practice of moderation and self control in food and drink (Republic, 404c) will create the physical
aptitude needed to guard the city and fight wars. Socrates ends his dialogue about the guardians
education by emphasizing the importance of the harmony of education in music and poetry and
physical training in making the soul moderate and courageous (Republic, 410d e). Socrates wants the
guardians to embody goodness and for goodness to become a natural instinct and inclination. This is
then the development of a sense of shame. Guardians who are raised in this manner will feel a strong
sense of shame when confronted by ideals that are opposite to their nature such as cowardice and
licentiousness. Thus, it is evident that purifying these stories and correct physical training will teach
the guardians courage,

Names In The Bible
Since day one, names have been important and special. It is the first gift we receive from our parents
the day we are born, and it is how we identify ourselves from that day forward. The first thing that is
said when introducing oneself is your name. There s something about calling someone by name that
indicates meaning and intentionality. Names are important to our parents, our friends, and everyone
around us, but most importantly, they are special and significant to God. In the Bible, there is a pattern
of God giving people new names when they realize their calling. For example, Abram was changed to
Abraham and Saul was changed to Paul after his conversion on the road to Damascus. In Isaiah 43:1 it
says, Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. The God of
the universe knows and calls us by name. You can t get more loving and personal than that. In an
article about the importance of God knowing each of our names, Beth Ariel states, He knows each of
us personally and intimately, calling us by name. It is almost too much for our finite minds to grasp
that the God who created the heavens and the earth knows each of us by name (Ariel 1). In the Bible,

Because Jewish tradition does not allow the pronunciation of this name, in public reading it is
regularly substituted with Adonai, my Lord (Silva 121). The four letters in the tetragrammation are Y,

Lord, Jehovah, or Master. God s name is almost always translated LORD in the English Bible. But the
Hebrew would be pronounced something like Yahweh, and is built on the word for I am (Piper

Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Ulcerative Colitis
Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Ulcerative Colitis Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) refers to a
variety of conditions in which a chronic immune response and inflammation occur throughout the
gastrointestinal tract. Inflammatory Bowel Diseases are triggered by an abnormal response by the
body s immune system. In a normal functioning immune system, the cells protect the body from
infection. However, in those who are suffering from IBD, the immune system mistakes bacteria, food,
and other materials in the intestine as foreign substances and attack the cells in the intestines. As an
immune response, the body sends white blood cells to the lining of the intestines, ultimately causing a
chronic inflammation and the patient then experiences a variety of symptoms.
Symptoms of an IBD can vary, depending on the severity and location of the inflammation. Common
symptoms of an inflammatory bowel disease include abdominal pain and cramping that usually
disappear after a bowel movement, constipation or difficulty passing stool, diarrhea, fever,
gastrointestinal bleeding, gurgling or splashing sound heard over the intestine, nausea and vomiting,
pain in the joints, and undesired weight loss. Since these symptoms can indicate a number of possible
diseases, it can be difficult to determine the correct diagnoses. The two main types of IBD are Crohn s
Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, but determining a patient s exact diagnoses can be challenging.
Although Crohn s Disease and Ulcerative

ABSTRACT
Observed meteorological data collected by two different types of automatic weather stations (AWS)
were statistically analysed in order to verify if there were a difference in the measurements due to the
different sensor types. The hypothesis is that the different types of AWS s will not be statistically
different. Data from January 2014 to February 2016 for six places in South Africa were analysed.
Significant differences were observed for rainfall totals, temperatures and wind speeds by using the
Wilcoxon Mann Whitney test.
1. Introduction
The objective of this study was to compare observed rainfall amounts, maximum air temperature,
minimum air temperature and maximum wind speeds at daily periods from two different types of
automatic weather stations. An automatic weather station (AWS) is defined by the WMO (1992a) as a
meteorological station where observations are made and from which the data is transmitted
automatically. The AWS was designed to accurately measure and record standard meteorological
variables. The design of AWS s may vary from measurement rates, methods on how the data is
retrieved or the intervals of when the data is reported (Tanner, 1990).
All functional AWS s must consist of certain specific features. These

Soft issues, cultural human resource issues will be as much of a driver of cost and schedule as the hard
issues like planning and execution. It is critical to the success of this project, and perhaps the
organization s international growth strategy, that this project be completed on time, and on budget.
The organization anticipates possible schedule delays and cost overruns due to cultural assumptions
and misunderstandings. Knowing that schedule delays will affect costs and international expansion
strategy, we pay particular attention to the project s critical path (see Appendix A, and the
accompanying MS Project file s network diagram view). To deal with these risks, the team has built
several feeding time buffers into the work breakdown schedule, at constraints along the critical path
(Goldratt, 1998). A large project buffer has also been added to protect the end of the project. Attention
to the safety buffers along the critical path will contribute to the team s successful execution of the
project. This plan presents an overview of the project organization, including the team s organization
chart, project responsibilities, and staffing plans. Next, the plan addresses the organization s
management process related to this project. Management s objectives, priorities, Acme Project Plan
and monitoring and control mechanisms are covered in this section. The project s technical process

The Fifth Amendment For Theu.s. Constitution Essay
The sixth amendment to the U.S constitution guarantees a defendant in a criminal prosecution the
right to a speedy, public, and impartial trial by jury. Once it has determined that the trial will be by
jury, the next step in the criminal proceeding is the selection of the jurors. During this process possible
jurors receive a summons in the mall ordering them to appear in court at a specified time and date the
people who are summoned comprise the venire (the prospective jurors for cases). Voir dire Latin term
meaning to speak the truth, this is an examination conducted by the courts or by the attorneys of a
potential juror or witness to determine if they would be proficient or qualified for services. Jurors
questionnaires reveals information disqualifying them from jury service is only the first step in the
jury selection process. Typical questions relate to whether prospective jurors know the defendant, the
attorneys, or any of the witnesses, whether they have read or heard about the case in the media, and
whether they have racial, nationality, or gender biases. Effective voir dire is getting the prospective
jurors to tell the court or attorneys what they need to know( Ferdico, J 2005).
During the voir dire process, the way jurors are removed is part logic and part legal strategy. The
judge determines that a potential juror is not likely to be fair to both sides in the case, than the juror
will be excused for cause. There are two possible ways prospective jurors may be

Walt Disney s Theory Of Bureaucracy, And Blake And Mouton...
Introduction
Walt Disney Company is a mass media and entertainment company headquartered in Burbank,
California. The Disney brothers Walt and Roy founded Disney in 1923. Originally, Disney was strictly
an animation industry before expanding into television, film, and most notably theme parks. Disney s
theme parks have become world renowned for the experiences and memories they give the people that
visit the park. Disney s parks are also respected for their organizational communication in terms of
their employees and their interactions with visitors of the theme park. As mentioned earlier, Disney is
a company that applies organizational communication to all facets of their operations especially to
their theme parks. This is why we decided to study them so closely for this paper. We will apply Deal
and Kennedy s Strong Culture theory, Weber s Theory of Bureaucracy, and Blake and Mouton s
Managerial Grid to what we have learned about Disney as an organization to analyze where they fit
into each of these theories and critique their organizational practice and identify any ways they can
improve as outlined by these theories.
Deal and Kennedy s Strong Cultures When defining culture, one can say that culture means: a
particular form or stage of civilization as that of a certain nation or period; development or
improvement of the mind by education or training; or the behaviors and beliefs characteristics of a
particular social, ethnic, or age group (Culture). All of

INTRO
Hamlet is a tragedy by William Shakespeare where the main character, Hamlet,
Thesis: In William Shakespeare s Hamlet mythological and biblical allusions informs us of Hamlet s
inevitable fall.
Throughout the play, Hamlet uses many mythological allusions to show his feelings towards other
characters such as Claudius, Gertrude and the old king as well as inform us of his fall . After Queen
Gertrude is re married to Claudius, Hamlet shows his feelings when he compares the late King Hamlet
to Claudius. Hamlet tells his mother, So excellent a king, that was to this / Hyperion to a satyr. (Ham. I
ii 139 40). This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamlet uses Hecuba to exaggerate the difference between the queen in the play who is full of grief
and sorrow, and Queen Gertrude who has remarried quickly and shows little to no emotion for the
death of her first husband. Another example occurs during Hamlet s soliloquy when he imagines his
mother, Like Niobe, all tears (Ham. I. ii. 151). Hamlet not only wishes his mother would mourn and
take revenge, but he also implies responsibility for his father s death. In Greek mythology, Niobe
boasted she had many children and as a result, the gods came down and murdered her children.
Painters and sculptures have portrayed Niobe as a crying woman because of her guilt she felt knowing
she caused her children to die. The fact that Hamlet uses these comparisons suggests his mother is
undoubtedly responsible for his father s death. Finish and relate to thesis
Hamlet also compares himself to the demi god Hercules in Act 1 scene 2: My father s brother but no
more like my father/ Than I to Hercules (I, ii, 152 153). This mythological allusion is important
because Hamlet is comparing himself to Hercules who is known as a strong warrior and earned a place
on Mount Olympus with the gods. Hamlet is saying that his uncle is very much different than his
father, like Hamlet is very much different than Hercules. Hercules is seen as a superhero of Greek
mythology, which is a great difference of Hamlet because Hamlet is in no way seen as a superhero or
someone to look up to. Hamlet

Country Music And Bernie s Song God Bless America
When it comes to singers, rappers, country artists, or anyone who makes music they are usually about
historical events that have happened in the past or are just happening me right now. In country music a
lot of the time they talk about things that are happening in their lives like break ups, deaths in the
family or just about what they are going through. Rappers are usually talking about another rapper, but
some times it is about the difficult times they are going through. When it comes to hard core metal
music or as people call it death metal they do talk about their lives and how they are hard, but in some
peoples mind it is hard to understand. All the music that people make has a meaning to them in some
way that only they understand, or you have to listen to the lyrics very carefully to understand what
they are talking about. During September 11th, 2001 four airplanes were hijacked, two were headed

during at this time. Jackson says at the beginning of the song did you stand there in shock at the rise of
the black smoke rising against the blue sky When he says this he is wondering what the emotions
people had during the very moment they saw what was going on. The way that Bernie says Stand
beside her, and guide her he just wants people to not give up on America, and guide people that are
thinking negative on what they decide to do so everyone can live in peace. Just like comparisons there

Essay The Theme of Humanity in the Time Machine
The Theme of Humanity in the Time Machine
H.G Wells was born in Bromley Kent on the 21st September 1866. He had attended school called
Midhurst Grammar in 1883, soon after he had gone to the normal school of science in London. There
he had learned biology, which could lead to why he had written science fiction novels. He had left the
school without the qualifications to become a writer. He began his career as a writer in 1893 and then
continued to create stories, such as the Time Machine.
H.G Wells had studied the fourth dimension as he felt very strongly about this issue. The fourth
dimension was about moving back and fourth in time. H.G wells had tried to create his own time

He illustrated his views of the Victorian times by writing the time machine. In this story he wrote how
the future would re act if the class divisions had not been divided. The time machine represents class
divisions by Elois who are the upper class and lived on top, whereas the Morlocks were the lower
class divisions who lived underground. Chapter one, the time traveller has a dinner party. They had
gone to another room after eating their dinner to discuss the fourth dimension. The time traveller
wanted to demonstrate to them the fourth dimension by his miniature version of the time machine, so
that they could become a witness of the fourth dimensions occurring. At this dinner party there are
only males present, because in the
Victorian times women were not superior to men, this reflects the historical influences that existed in
those times and relates to the essay question. Men who attended the time travellers dinner party was
not named through out the whole book, except for one whose name was
Filby. The other guests were named after their occupation, for example there were psychologists,
provincial mayor, medical man, narrator, the very young man and the time traveller himself. The
reason why Filby is not named after his occupation is that it was not a very important one.
There is also a character who was the time traveller s domestic servant, her name was Mrs

Public speaking is a fear faced by over 75% of the Earth s population. In fact, 5.3 million of
Americans today face social phobia and speech anxiety. Commonly referred to as glossophobia ,
speech anxiety is fear people face when delivering speeches and/or lectures to large audiences. The
article, Conquer Fear of Public Speaking through Emotional Intelligence , written by Gleb Tsipursky,

becoming restless when students began filling up the room. My knees started to quiver, and I began
feeling febrile. However, I knew that I needed to remain composed, and ultimately deliver an excellent
speech. Similar to Tsipursky s positive thinking method, I started to think positively. I used Tsipursky
s method of positive thinking , and thought If you do not believe in yourself, how do you expect other
people to believe in you? (Paragraph 8). By thinking positively and optimistically, I was able to
envision my successful speech. The speech anxiety I once possessed had now disappeared, and I knew
that I was ready to deliver a successful speech. This daunting experience provided me with a valuable
lesson, which was to never think pessimistically. Presently, I apply the same methods that I used

that speech anxiety affects over 75% of the world s population, but we can all use effective methods to

The Anatomy And Physiology Of The Eye
The human eye is a wonderful organ enabling us to perform all our daily tasks. The sense of sight
allows to do almost all activities. There are countless activities including studying, cooking, driving,
or playing an instrument. Other tasks that vision is helpful for would be communicating, working,
making life a lot easier, which are very essential. Most people would agree that vision is more
valuable than the rest. The eyes allow us to interpret colors and shapes. This happens after a long
complex process, starting from the reflect of light on the objects to the eyes and ends up in the brain as
images. Having a healthy eye is very important and improves the quality of a person s life. In this

Retina is the very interior layer which consists of two layers. The pigmented outer layer which absorbs
light and prevents scattering. And the Neural layer composed of bipolar cells, ganglion cells and two
types of photoreceptors.
The eye is protected by a cushion of fat and a bony orbit surrounding the eye s anterior part. There are
also accessory structures that protect the eye and help maintain the eye s function. These accessory
structures include the eyelids, eyebrows, lacrimal apparatus, conjunctiva, and the extrinsic eye
muscles. The eyebrows function is to shade the eye from sunlight and keep out perspiration from
reaching the eye. The eyelids contains the nerves that initiate reflex blinking, and protects the eye s
anterior part, because it contains eyelashes at the edges, which prevents debris or small particles like
dust or sand from entering the eye. It also contains lubrication glands to keep the eye moistened, such
as tarsal glands and ciliary glands. The Conjunctiva is a transparent membrane which also produces
mucus. Next, the lacrimal consists of the lacrimal gland and ducts which produces

Flowers For Alggernon In Flowers For Algernon
Was Charlie better off before or after the operation?
Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes is about Charlie Gordon, a mentally disabled 37 year old that is
offered a one in a lifetime chance of being intelligent by having an operation. Although the operation
works and he becomes very intelligent, he slowly loses his intelligence later on. Although Charlie has
lost his I.Q which is his intelligence, he has still kept his E.Q which is his emotional intelligence.
Charlie also has the involvement of going through all of that which transforms him as a person and he
does not let anyone take advantage of him anymore. This shows that Charlie is still better off after the
operation than before.
To begin, Charlie is still better off after the surgery because he now has E.Q, or emotional intelligence
unlike he did before he got the operation. Before the operation, Charlie did not understand the
emotions of people. For instance, the entry on April 15 (Keyes 291) tells us that when Charlie and Ms.
Kinnian were talking, Ms. Kinnian got something in her eye and had to go into the ladies room, but
we knew that she was actually crying, an example of dramatic irony. This displays that before the
operation, Charlie does not know the emotional standpoint of people, but after the operation Charlie
does. To demonstrate, after Charlie had the operation but lost his intelligence, Charlie went into Ms.
Kinnians class acting like he used to before the operation. Then, he said, She startid to cry

The Importance Of Learning A New Language
Importance of Learning a New Language
All over the world there is around 6,500 languages. Even so in America approximately 20% of
Americans speak another language other than English. This number is relatively low. Learning a new
language is and can be very beneficial. By learning a new language you can meet more people, have
more job opportunities, and introduce yourself to new cultures. Therefore, every person should make
it a life goal to learn another language excluding their native language.
First of all, Learning a new language gives you many more career and college choices. Considering
the fact that not a lot of Americans speak any other languages then Spanish it is rare and a rare skill to
have. Speaking another language looks great on job and college applications. Taking a language SAT
during high school makes your college application stand out, which will increase your chances of
getting into a good college.Alao for college admissions there is a number of scholarships for bilingual
students. This is a great reason to learn a new language because college can get very expensive but is a
thing that is almost necessary. Also the amount of jobs that can use bilingual employees is getting
higher and higher. For example when children move from foreign countries, they are placed in schools
where they can t speak the language, therefore they aren t able to understand teachers or other students
to make new friends. So, to help out the kids they get a special

Conjoint analysis and needs based segmentation
So many companies segment their customers by size and other such criteria because this approach is
easy to carry out, and the companies falling into these gross categories do tend to have similar needs.
But to have a truly actionable segmentation scheme, you must divide your customers into much more
precise groupings based specifically on their needs.
SHEDDING THE COMMODITY MIND SET
81
In the business to consumer (B2C) market, this kind of segmentation is often quite hard to undertake
because the obvious differences among customers age, income, geography, and so on usually don t
correspond to their preferences for, say, shampoos, books, or even clothing. To solve this problem,
consumer goods companies have developed elaborate statistical mechanisms, such as dual objective
segmentation.1 But because these complicated algorithms are not typically used by business to
business (B2B) suppliers, those companies divide their world by weak identifiers such as size and
geography. The good news is that B2B companies don t necessarily need to use elaborate and
sophisticated methods; only a large consumer goods customer base often comprising millions of
individuals demands them. In many B2B markets, 25, 15, or even just 10 customers

I Attended A Narcotics Anonymous ( Na ) Meeting
Meeting Description For the self help meeting in regards for my reaction paper, I attended a Narcotics
Anonymous (NA) meeting. NA is a nonprofit, community based, 12 step recovery organization for
recovering drug addicts (Bowens, 2011, p. 1). The meeting I attended took place outside on a Saturday
afternoon at Magnolia Park in Garden Grove, California. It is an open group tag meeting, where one
speaker will tag another person to share and welcome for anyone to attend. It was very easy to locate
the meeting, as it was right in front of the park s only parking lot with members sitting in a circle on
benches and lawn chairs. The meeting started at 12:00pm and ended around 1:30pm. The group
facilitator was a Caucasian man in his forties named Bob. Bob had been in and out of recovery for
nearly 16 years, but recently relapsed in August of 2015. He has experienced four overdoses since
then, and is on his way to working the 12 steps again. Bob has been sober for about six weeks now. In
the group meeting, there were 20 members (four female, 16 male) in this meeting, composed of 75%
Caucasian, 20% Hispanic/Latino, 5% African American, and 5% Asian (just me). Majority of the
group members appeared to be in the middle class, hypothesized from listening to their stories of
owning cars, homes, apartments, taking care of children, and having employment. Many of them
appeared to be in their late thirties to late forties. There were a few children (children of group
members) and one

Middle-Class Life Narrative
On the way to work, I tried not to think about Jacob being engaged, but it was impossible. Questions
filled my head as I stopped at red lights and stop signs. Could he actually propose to someone else if
we were still legally married? Did I really want to sign the papers when it was time? Was I going to
change my last name back to Blue? Was I going to have to move? I had no clue, but I knew that I
couldn t afford the mortgage on my house by myself and the rest of the bills. I liked the lifestyle I
lived. I drove a Volvo SUV and didn t have a closet full of high dollar clothes, which was perfectly
fine with me because I didn t need all of that. Middle class living was fine with me. I was satisfied
with just having the bills paid. Coming home to a decent house, in a decent neighborhood was
definitely a blessing. I deserved to be happy, with or without Jacob and that was the bottom line. From
that second forward, I decided that I would hang Jacob out to dry. I was ... Show more content on

Over the years of our marriage, I kept a journal of the verbal abuse as well as the phone records from
Jacob s cell phone bills. I knew that he was having hour long conversations in the middle of the night
and on his lunch breaks. I was going to use all of that evidence against him in court. I couldn t wait to
see his face when he found out that I had kept up with his every move. As the pictures that Trudy had
shown me on Erica s Faceplace page came to mind, I could have sworn that I was actually looking at
them. They were embedded in my mind, and I couldn t stop thinking about them. All of a sudden, I
wanted to hurt Jacob all over again. Before I got out of my car, I prayed that a lightning bolt would
strike him down. Not tomorrow, but today. I quickly took back my prayer of Jacob s demise and asked
God to forgive me. I knew that vengeance wasn t mine and that God would deal with Jacob for
breaking his vows in due

Three Examples Of Ultranationalism
Nationalism involves an individual identifying with, or becoming attached to one s nation. A nation
often trying to develop people s nationalism within their country. Nationalism will lead to a state of
ultranationalism an extreme form of nationalism ultranationalists are often fanatically loyal to their
own nation and hostile and racist toward other nations. Three examples of ultranationalists are
Hirohito(Japan), Adolf Hitler(Germany), and Joseph Stalin(Russia).
During WWI, increased Japanese exports to western countries gave Japan a great success both
politically and economically; suddenly, when the Great Depression stated, the trading with other
country failed and Japanese suffered for a long time. And after the death of Crown Prince Yoshihito,
his son Hirohito Emperor Showa (1901 1989) became the 124th Emperor of Japan according. He
gradually turned his country toward ultranationalism and militarism. During WWII, Japan allied with
Nazi Germany and attacked nearly all of its Asian neighbors, also launched a surprise assault on the
Pearl Harbor to express his sovereignty. Although Hirohito later portrayed himself as a powerless
constitutional monarch, many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Well, don t you look like the cat that ate the canary Angelique said as she sailed from the bedroom to

Assault On Gun Control
Assault on Gun Control
Over the years gun control has been an issue that has been argued over and over. Some say stricter
laws are needed to control the guns that are out in the public. Other say harsher background checks
need to be done. Even gone as far as banning certain weapons that someone can own in the United
States. But not matter what laws or restrictions are in place, the fact remains, guns don t kill people,
people kill people. First, I want to define a question that people have. What is the definition of a mass
shooting? Since I will be talking about this a little I want to define a mass shooting. There is not a
specific definition of mass shooting, an accepted one says that an incident in which at least four
people are shot (injured or killed) is considered a mass shooting. The FBI, only considers an incident a
mass murder if three or more people are killed Lord (2017) So some of the facts or statistics may not
be as correct as one would like. This is tough when trying to present an accurate figure during an
argument.
Everyone is so eager to jump on the band wagon to restrict or ban weapons or mainly semi/full
automatic assault style weapons. They talk about the mass shootings of recent time; Sandy Hook
Elementary School shooting, 26 deaths, Route 91 Music Fest in Las Vegas, 58 deaths, and 26 deaths at
the Baptist church in Texas. Nestel Keneally (2017) These are all because of semiautomatic or fully
automatic weapons. These facts are true. But they

Brutus Funeral Speech Analysis
According to picturequotes.com, Words are powerful. They can create or they can destroy. So choose
your words wisely. In Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, conspirators slay Julius Caesar,
resulting in anarchy in Rome. Some agree with the death, while others oppose the sudden and violent
death of Caesar. Unlike Antony, Brutus uses emotion rather than fact to sway the Roman people that
Caesars death is justified. Although Brutus puts rules in place so he can not talk disrespectfully of the
conspiracy, Antony, Caesar s closest friend, uses his slyness and manipulation in his funeral speech to
persuade the Romans. Although both characters use analogies, parallelism, loaded words and
hyperboles, their speeches convey very different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By making the Romans think about this topic, Brutus gains support and the audience feels like the
death of Caesar is justified. After Brutus finishes his speech, Antony speaks about his opinion on the
issue; unlike Brutus, Antony acts slyly and communicates a very manipulative tone to persuade the
Romans to rebel. Because of Antony s use of parallelism, he creates vivid reasoning for his speech. He
states, I come here to bury Caesar, not to praise him (III.ii.44). By using this device, he shows the
people of Rome that he isn t praising Caesar, he is putting the leader to rest. This particular line creates
a very manipulative tone, because his speech is all about what great this Caesar has done and how he
wants to rebel against the conspirators. Further more, Antony uses a lot of irony to slyly get his point
across. One example that he uses throughout the speech is Yet Brutus says he was ambitious, and
Brutus is a honorable man (III.ii.44). Because of the repitition of this ironic statement, the meaning of
it changes and intensifies. At first, his tone was sincere, but as the speech progresses, you can see his
sarcastic tone increases. Antony does this because he has to use this device to surpass the regulations
of Brutus, as well as make the romans listen. Lastly, he uses personification to give life and further
meaning to a word. Early in the speech, Antony says, The evil

Early Human Traits
There are many traits and behaviors which can be used to define as early humans, such as big brains,
language, and distinctive cultural or behavioral traits such as tool technology. One of the most
fundamental human characteristic which distinguish early hominins from other apes is bipedalism.
(Kottak) Walking upright on two legs is the trait that defines the hominin lineage. It took
paleoanthropologists a long time to realize that bipedalism is the key difference between human and
ape. They tended to believe large brains made hominins unique and it was a reasonable conclusion at
that time because the only available hominin fossils were Neanderthals and Homo Erectus. However,
with more and more earlier hominin fossils being found, paleoanthropologists

Batman Vs The Dark Knight
It is challenging to find a movie that delivers on all cinematic aspects, and is able to make the viewer
feel intrigued, thrilled, and humored. Nonetheless, Christopher Nolan s The Dark Knight fulfills all
criteria for a masterpiece during its 152 minute runtime. Nolan s realistic adaptation of the classical
Batman series incorporates interesting dialogue while remaining true to the original comics, and
possesses the detailed setting and talented actors that bring it to life.
After viewing The Dark Knight for more than 20 minutes, it is apparent that the director, Christopher
Nolan, spared no expense when casting the actors for the film. The film s all star cast is composed of
Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Morgan
Freeman. Yet, out of the entire A list cast, there is one actor that stands out the most: the late Heath
Ledger. Ledger s portrayal of The Joker is able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Jewish Identity During The Middle Ages
During the Middle Ages, Jewish individuals maintained a strong sense of a collective unity while
living without autonomy. Jewish people in the Middle Ages were stateless, and many felt as if they
were foreigners inside of countries that they have lived in for years. However, despite this disconnect,
Jews were a part of the everyday community life and often associated with their Christian or Muslim
counterparts. It was this complex social structure that allowed Jewish members of society to both able
to maintain a separate identity during the Middle Ages through their sacred time, communal ties,
literacy, and family ties, while still being acculturated into the society in which they lived. In order to
understand how Jews were able to create ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Jewish culture, the Sabbath, or the day of rest is on Saturday, rather than Sunday like the Christians
or Friday like their Muslim counterparts. By having a separate day entirely from their peers, the
Sabbath publically demonstrated their separation of beliefs from those around them. The separate days
of rest indicate the difference between the religions and thus create a separate identity for Jews
because they have an entirely different day of worship. Moreover, in addition to the actual separation
of days, the Sabbath sought to create a Jewish identity because the Sabbath immersed the Jewish
people in a full day of worship and ritual based activities. For instance, leading up to Sabbath men and
women had to partake in certain duties in order to prepare for the holy day of the week. Men and
women were supposed to partake in ritual bathing before entering the synagogue, they were meant to
read the Torah, and women were meant to light the candles (nerot) and make the challah bread for the
Sabbath meal. The Sabbath meals were generally made by the wife or women of the home and eaten
on Friday nights before the Sabbath day. At these meals, the family would thank God for the food at
hand and remember that even though the temple was gone, that they were continuing Gods good
work. Typically, the Sabbath meals were meant to have challah bread, wine, and meat if the family
could afford it because the Sabbath meals were meant to be a good meal. These meals especially
played a role in the creation of a separate Jewish identity because psychologically they reaffirmed to
Jews that in this moment they were elite. No matter what had happened the week prior or what was
about to happen in the week to come, the Sabbath meals offer a feeling of strength because it gathers
those who love each other to break bread and unify together through their religion. The

The Causes Of Childhood Obesity
Causes of Childhood Obesity Imagine yourself walking into a kindergarten class, and all you see are
obese children not walking, but moving on wheels because they simply cannot walk anymore due to
their excess body weight. Their legs are so weak since they have to handle so much more weight than
what they are designed to do. This vision may no longer be fictional if the world keeps ignoring the
issue of childhood obesity. Nowadays, not only adults, but the number of children who are obese are
incredibly high. The topic has to be taken more seriously because it is not only bad for their health
obviously but it is also abusive. Youngsters with obesity will tend to stay obese when they grow up
and we can all agree that it is not so pleasant to be in such circumstances. These children are our
worthiest fortune and the world s future generation. When the time comes, their quality of life and
level of happiness will accurately reflect how we raise them and how much caring and love do we
have toward them. Every issue has its own roots of problems and we have to identify those before
heading to find solutions. Definitions: According to researches over decades, overweight or obese are
usually used to describe the condition of having too much excess body fat. The most common way to
measure if someone is overweight is based on their BMI. Someone with a BMI over 30 will be
considered as obese. In the 21th century where technology has become another irreplaceable factor of

The United States Involvement In The Korean War
The Korean War was described to be one of the main reasons how the Cold War became a global
conflict in 1945. The main conflict of the Korean War was the disagreement of Communism between
North and South Korea. North Korea followed Communism and wanted South Korea to be under the
same type of government. As South Korea refused to have Communism in their country, it led North
Korea to take action, by using violence. With the help of the Soviet Union and China helping the
North, South Korea looks to the United States for aid into helping them with this conflict (Lin Lin).
The United States decision to be involved in the Korean War was due to the fact it started with
Communism and they wanted to prevent the influence of it from spreading.

My Life In The Trenches
Today was one of the hardest days I have experienced in my lifetime. We dug trenches, moved
equipment, and repaired broken equipment from sun up until sun down. To make this even worse, all
day the wind blew fiercely towards our trenches forcing us to endure the horrific stench of the soldiers
who have lost their lives in no man s land. I feel so horrible for the families of those lost brothers of
mine. They will never have the opportunity to give their sons, husbands, fathers, and brothers a proper
burial. It can get depressing here in these trenches as I do nothing but stare at the sky for hours on end
with no sign of life in sight. I try to keep my mind busy, but every still moment my mind goes back to
my brothers I have lost. I try to justify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are positioned at the point where the River Aisne and River Oise meet. We know that holding our
ground is important because if some how they were to break through our trenches here they would
have clear access to Chantilly and then they would move to our most beloved city, Paris. Although we
know that holding our ground is very important, we had hoped for a chance to drive those nasty
Germans back to where they came from. The day started slow, the sleep I longed for had eluded me as
normal. Being tired in battle was no good thing, and almost no one on our side got much sleep.
Thankfully, we re sure no one on the other side got much sleep either. In the wee hours of the morning
before daybreak we prepared for battle. I had all those feelings rushing back to me; scared, anxious,
excited, and nervous. Once we felt we were ready we all quickly headed for our posts. There was no
good way to fight a battle in these trenches. Whoever got chosen to attempt an attack was almost
surely dead as soon as the orders were sent. Running across no man s land was one of the most
treacherous tasks we ever had. I have only been sent out twice, luckily both times I have been able to
retreat back to our trenches safely after our job was done. Both sides ran at each other like this all day
during battles. As you can tell this hardly lead to any good as hundreds died and only feet were gained
if you were lucky. Today was no different, we engaged in this same type of warfare for hours. I saw
fellow soldiers die attempting to cross to the German s side, and I even personally pulled the trigger
on Germans who attempted to cross to our side. Many soldiers say they struggle when killing others,
but honestly I do not. I have seen too many of my brothers shot by those Germans across from us that

  • 2. Self-Control And Courage In The Spartan King... In Thucydides History, the Spartan king Archidamus outlines the values he idealizes in the Spartan soldiers, namely self control and discipline which in turn create shame and courage. These values are similar to those defined by Socrates as vital to the formation of virtuous guardians of kallipollis in Books 2 and 3 of The Republic. Socrates ideal values are courage, moderation and a sense of shame. Thus, since there are parallels in the values idealized by both Archidamus and Socrates, it is probable that both the Spartan soldiers and the guardians of kallipollis will resemble each other to an extent. Archidamus conception of courage is derived from the notions of self control, discipline and shame. In his speech, he warns the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Courage will be taught by censoring fearful stories of the Underworld and Hades so that the guardians will be fearless of death (Republic, 386b). Moderation and self control will be taught by removing stories of gods and heroes living in excess (Republic, 390a d) and of men lamenting (Republic, 388a d). The modes and rhythms should follow similarly, culminating in an education of music and poetry that teaches these ideals of courage and moderation. Physical training must be simple as a good soul that is trained in music and poetry will produce a good body (Republic, 403d). This combined with the practice of moderation and self control in food and drink (Republic, 404c) will create the physical aptitude needed to guard the city and fight wars. Socrates ends his dialogue about the guardians education by emphasizing the importance of the harmony of education in music and poetry and physical training in making the soul moderate and courageous (Republic, 410d e). Socrates wants the guardians to embody goodness and for goodness to become a natural instinct and inclination. This is then the development of a sense of shame. Guardians who are raised in this manner will feel a strong sense of shame when confronted by ideals that are opposite to their nature such as cowardice and licentiousness. Thus, it is evident that purifying these stories and correct physical training will teach the guardians courage, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Names In The Bible Since day one, names have been important and special. It is the first gift we receive from our parents the day we are born, and it is how we identify ourselves from that day forward. The first thing that is said when introducing oneself is your name. There s something about calling someone by name that indicates meaning and intentionality. Names are important to our parents, our friends, and everyone around us, but most importantly, they are special and significant to God. In the Bible, there is a pattern of God giving people new names when they realize their calling. For example, Abram was changed to Abraham and Saul was changed to Paul after his conversion on the road to Damascus. In Isaiah 43:1 it says, Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. The God of the universe knows and calls us by name. You can t get more loving and personal than that. In an article about the importance of God knowing each of our names, Beth Ariel states, He knows each of us personally and intimately, calling us by name. It is almost too much for our finite minds to grasp that the God who created the heavens and the earth knows each of us by name (Ariel 1). In the Bible, God not ... • 4. Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Ulcerative Colitis Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Ulcerative Colitis Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) refers to a variety of conditions in which a chronic immune response and inflammation occur throughout the gastrointestinal tract. Inflammatory Bowel Diseases are triggered by an abnormal response by the body s immune system. In a normal functioning immune system, the cells protect the body from infection. However, in those who are suffering from IBD, the immune system mistakes bacteria, food, and other materials in the intestine as foreign substances and attack the cells in the intestines. As an immune response, the body sends white blood cells to the lining of the intestines, ultimately causing a chronic inflammation and the patient then experiences a variety of symptoms. Symptoms of an IBD can vary, depending on the severity and location of the inflammation. Common symptoms of an inflammatory bowel disease include abdominal pain and cramping that usually disappear after a bowel movement, constipation or difficulty passing stool, diarrhea, fever, gastrointestinal bleeding, gurgling or splashing sound heard over the intestine, nausea and vomiting, pain in the joints, and undesired weight loss. Since these symptoms can indicate a number of possible diseases, it can be difficult to determine the correct diagnoses. The two main types of IBD are Crohn s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, but determining a patient s exact diagnoses can be challenging. Although Crohn s Disease and Ulcerative ... • 5. Comparing Observed Meteorological Data From Two Different... Comparing observed meteorological data from two different types of automatic weather stations Petro Burger 11048990 HONOURS REASEARCH PROJECT WKD 763 2016 DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY, GEOINFORMATICS AND METEOROLOGY UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA ABSTRACT Observed meteorological data collected by two different types of automatic weather stations (AWS) were statistically analysed in order to verify if there were a difference in the measurements due to the different sensor types. The hypothesis is that the different types of AWS s will not be statistically different. Data from January 2014 to February 2016 for six places in South Africa were analysed. Significant differences were observed for rainfall totals, temperatures and wind speeds by using the Wilcoxon Mann Whitney test. 1. Introduction The objective of this study was to compare observed rainfall amounts, maximum air temperature, minimum air temperature and maximum wind speeds at daily periods from two different types of automatic weather stations. An automatic weather station (AWS) is defined by the WMO (1992a) as a meteorological station where observations are made and from which the data is transmitted automatically. The AWS was designed to accurately measure and record standard meteorological variables. The design of AWS s may vary from measurement rates, methods on how the data is retrieved or the intervals of when the data is reported (Tanner, 1990). All functional AWS s must consist of certain specific features. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Soft issues, cultural human resource issues will be as much of a driver of cost and schedule as the hard issues like planning and execution. It is critical to the success of this project, and perhaps the organization s international growth strategy, that this project be completed on time, and on budget. The organization anticipates possible schedule delays and cost overruns due to cultural assumptions and misunderstandings. Knowing that schedule delays will affect costs and international expansion strategy, we pay particular attention to the project s critical path (see Appendix A, and the accompanying MS Project file s network diagram view). To deal with these risks, the team has built several feeding time buffers into the work breakdown schedule, at constraints along the critical path (Goldratt, 1998). A large project buffer has also been added to protect the end of the project. Attention to the safety buffers along the critical path will contribute to the team s successful execution of the project. This plan presents an overview of the project organization, including the team s organization chart, project responsibilities, and staffing plans. Next, the plan addresses the organization s management process related to this project. Management s objectives, priorities, Acme Project Plan and monitoring and control mechanisms are covered in this section. • 7. The Fifth Amendment For Theu.s. Constitution Essay The sixth amendment to the U.S constitution guarantees a defendant in a criminal prosecution the right to a speedy, public, and impartial trial by jury. Once it has determined that the trial will be by jury, the next step in the criminal proceeding is the selection of the jurors. During this process possible jurors receive a summons in the mall ordering them to appear in court at a specified time and date the people who are summoned comprise the venire (the prospective jurors for cases). Voir dire Latin term meaning to speak the truth, this is an examination conducted by the courts or by the attorneys of a potential juror or witness to determine if they would be proficient or qualified for services. Jurors questionnaires reveals information disqualifying them from jury service is only the first step in the jury selection process. Typical questions relate to whether prospective jurors know the defendant, the attorneys, or any of the witnesses, whether they have read or heard about the case in the media, and whether they have racial, nationality, or gender biases. Effective voir dire is getting the prospective jurors to tell the court or attorneys what they need to know( Ferdico, J 2005). During the voir dire process, the way jurors are removed is part logic and part legal strategy. The judge determines that a potential juror is not likely to be fair to both sides in the case, than the juror will be excused for cause. There are two possible ways prospective jurors may be ... • 8. Walt Disney s Theory Of Bureaucracy, And Blake And Mouton... Introduction Walt Disney Company is a mass media and entertainment company headquartered in Burbank, California. The Disney brothers Walt and Roy founded Disney in 1923. Originally, Disney was strictly an animation industry before expanding into television, film, and most notably theme parks. Disney s theme parks have become world renowned for the experiences and memories they give the people that visit the park. Disney s parks are also respected for their organizational communication in terms of their employees and their interactions with visitors of the theme park. As mentioned earlier, Disney is a company that applies organizational communication to all facets of their operations especially to their theme parks. This is why we decided to study them so closely for this paper. We will apply Deal and Kennedy s Strong Culture theory, Weber s Theory of Bureaucracy, and Blake and Mouton s Managerial Grid to what we have learned about Disney as an organization to analyze where they fit into each of these theories and critique their organizational practice and identify any ways they can improve as outlined by these theories. Deal and Kennedy s Strong Cultures When defining culture, one can say that culture means: a particular form or stage of civilization as that of a certain nation or period; development or improvement of the mind by education or training; or the behaviors and beliefs characteristics of a particular social, ethnic, or age group (Culture). Throughout the play, Hamlet uses many mythological allusions to show his feelings towards other characters such as Claudius, Gertrude and the old king as well as inform us of his fall . Hamlet uses Hecuba to exaggerate the difference between the queen in the play who is full of grief and sorrow, and Queen Gertrude who has remarried quickly and shows little to no emotion for the death of her first husband. Another example occurs during Hamlet s soliloquy when he imagines his mother, Like Niobe, all tears (Ham. I. ii. 151). Hamlet not only wishes his mother would mourn and take revenge, but he also implies responsibility for his father s death. In Greek mythology, Niobe boasted she had many children and as a result, the gods came down and murdered her children. Painters and sculptures have portrayed Niobe as a crying woman because of her guilt she felt knowing she caused her children to die. The fact that Hamlet uses these comparisons suggests his mother is undoubtedly responsible for his father s death. Finish and relate to thesis Hamlet also compares himself to the demi god Hercules in Act 1 scene 2: My father s brother but no more like my father/ Than I to Hercules (I, ii, 152 153). This mythological allusion is important because Hamlet is comparing himself to Hercules who is known as a strong warrior and earned a place on Mount Olympus with the gods. Hamlet is saying that his uncle is very much different than his father, like Hamlet is very much different than Hercules. Hercules is seen as a superhero of Greek mythology, which is a great difference of Hamlet because Hamlet is in no way seen as a superhero or someone to look up to. Hamlet ... Country Music And Bernie s Song God Bless America When it comes to singers, rappers, country artists, or anyone who makes music they are usually about historical events that have happened in the past or are just happening me right now. In country music a lot of the time they talk about things that are happening in their lives like break ups, deaths in the family or just about what they are going through. Rappers are usually talking about another rapper, but some times it is about the difficult times they are going through. When it comes to hard core metal music or as people call it death metal they do talk about their lives and how they are hard, but in some peoples mind it is hard to understand. All the music that people make has a meaning to them in some way that only they understand, or you have to listen to the lyrics very carefully to understand what they are talking about. There he had learned biology, which could lead to why he had written science fiction novels. He had left the school without the qualifications to become a writer. He began his career as a writer in 1893 and then continued to create stories, such as the Time Machine. H.G Wells had studied the fourth dimension as he felt very strongly about this issue. Chapter one, the time traveller has a dinner party. They had gone to another room after eating their dinner to discuss the fourth dimension. The time traveller wanted to demonstrate to them the fourth dimension by his miniature version of the time machine, so that they could become a witness of the fourth dimensions occurring. At this dinner party there are only males present, because in the Victorian times women were not superior to men, this reflects the historical influences that existed in those times and relates to the essay question. Men who attended the time travellers dinner party was not named through out the whole book, except for one whose name was Filby. The other guests were named after their occupation, for example there were psychologists, provincial mayor, medical man, narrator, the very young man and the time traveller himself. Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes is about Charlie Gordon, a mentally disabled 37 year old that is offered a one in a lifetime chance of being intelligent by having an operation. Although the operation works and he becomes very intelligent, he slowly loses his intelligence later on. Although Charlie has lost his I.Q which is his intelligence, he has still kept his E.Q which is his emotional intelligence. Charlie also has the involvement of going through all of that which transforms him as a person and he does not let anyone take advantage of him anymore. This shows that Charlie is still better off after the operation than before. To begin, Charlie is still better off after the surgery because he now has E.Q, or emotional intelligence unlike he did before he got the operation. Before the operation, Charlie did not understand the emotions of people. For instance, the entry on April 15 (Keyes 291) tells us that when Charlie and Ms. Kinnian were talking, Ms. Kinnian got something in her eye and had to go into the ladies room, but we knew that she was actually crying, an example of dramatic irony. This displays that before the operation, Charlie does not know the emotional standpoint of people, but after the operation Charlie does. After Brutus finishes his speech, Antony speaks about his opinion on the issue; unlike Brutus, Antony acts slyly and communicates a very manipulative tone to persuade the Romans to rebel. Because of Antony s use of parallelism, he creates vivid reasoning for his speech. He states, I come here to bury Caesar, not to praise him (III.ii.44). By using this device, he shows the people of Rome that he isn t praising Caesar, he is putting the leader to rest. By having a separate day entirely from their peers, the Sabbath publically demonstrated their separation of beliefs from those around them. The separate days of rest indicate the difference between the religions and thus create a separate identity for Jews because they have an entirely different day of worship. Moreover, in addition to the actual separation of days, the Sabbath sought to create a Jewish identity because the Sabbath immersed the Jewish people in a full day of worship and ritual based activities. For instance, leading up to Sabbath men and women had to partake in certain duties in order to prepare for the holy day of the week. Men and women were supposed to partake in ritual bathing before entering the synagogue, they were meant to read the Torah, and women were meant to light the candles (nerot) and make the challah bread for the Sabbath meal. Typically, the Sabbath meals were meant to have challah bread, wine, and meat if the family could afford it because the Sabbath meals were meant to be a good meal. • 35. My Life In The Trenches Today was one of the hardest days I have experienced in my lifetime. We dug trenches, moved equipment, and repaired broken equipment from sun up until sun down. To make this even worse, all day the wind blew fiercely towards our trenches forcing us to endure the horrific stench of the soldiers who have lost their lives in no man s land. I feel so horrible for the families of those lost brothers of mine. They will never have the opportunity to give their sons, husbands, fathers, and brothers a proper burial. It can get depressing here in these trenches as I do nothing but stare at the sky for hours on end with no sign of life in sight. I try to keep my mind busy, but every still moment my mind goes back to my brothers I have lost. I try to justify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We are positioned at the point where the River Aisne and River Oise meet. We know that holding our ground is important because if some how they were to break through our trenches here they would have clear access to Chantilly and then they would move to our most beloved city, Paris. Although we know that holding our ground is very important, we had hoped for a chance to drive those nasty Germans back to where they came from. The day started slow, the sleep I longed for had eluded me as normal. Being tired in battle was no good thing, and almost no one on our side got much sleep. Thankfully, we re sure no one on the other side got much sleep either. In the wee hours of the morning before daybreak we prepared for battle. I had all those feelings rushing back to me; scared, anxious, excited, and nervous. Once we felt we were ready we all quickly headed for our posts. There was no good way to fight a battle in these trenches. Whoever got chosen to attempt an attack was almost surely dead as soon as the orders were sent. Running across no man s land was one of the most treacherous tasks we ever had. I have only been sent out twice, luckily both times I have been able to retreat back to our trenches safely after our job was done. Both sides ran at each other like this all day during battles. As you can tell this hardly lead to any good as hundreds died and only feet were gained if you were lucky. Today was no different, we engaged in this same type of warfare for hours. I saw fellow soldiers die attempting to cross to the German s side, and I even personally pulled the trigger on Germans who attempted to cross to our side. Many soldiers say they struggle when killing others, but honestly I do not. I have seen too many of my brothers shot by those Germans across from us that I find pride in ...
