Love Triangles In The Arthurian Legend
❤The Triangles of Love❤ In the Arthurian legend, there are many love affairs that lead to someone s
demise. The first deadly affair is among Gorlois, Igraine, and Uther Pendragon. Then, towards the
climax of the legend, comes the love between King Arthur, Guinevere, and Sir Lancelot. The
relationship between Elaine, Guinevere, and Lancelot is brought to light towards the end of the
legend. Out of the many love triangles that end in a tragedy, one example is the love among Igraine,
Gorlois, and Uther. At first, Igraine is married to Gorlois who is the Duke of Cornwall. Both Igraine
and Gorlois love each other, but apparently, they were not compatible. According to Merlin and the
Lady of the Lake, Viviane, Igraine is going to be married to Uther ... Show more content on

Lancelot leaves Camelot to attempt to win a diamond at a tournament for his love, Guinevere. Before
the tournament, Lancelot makes a stop at the Castle of Astolat, where Elaine notices him and falls in
love with him instantly. During the tournament, Lancelot wins but gets injured. Elaine nurses him
back to health, and as soon as he is well again, he returns back to Camelot. Because Lancelot is
returning back to Camelot to see Guinevere, Elaine becomes heartbroken and she grew so cheerful
that they deemed her death / Was rather in the fantasy than the blood (Tennyson 84). Elaine s affection
for Sir Lancelot was so strong, that once he left Astolat, she became mournful and ill. Soon after, the
Lily Maid of Astolat was pronounced dead because of her false relationship with Lancelot, where only
she loved him, but he did not love her back. But, the reason her death was considered a fantasy, was
because of the fact that she was positive that Lancelot had feelings for her in return. In reality,
Lancelot was just being a gentleman and following the rules of

two key channels what LM uses to deliver value for its customers: the community and the regional
microfactories. The community is a core element of LM s business model and consists of a group of
car enthusiasts and designers who communicate mainly on an online platform, but they also meet in
person during events organized by LM. Microfactories serve as places for car manufacturing but they
mean a lot more for the company. They are places to gather together with the community and to work
together with customers whilst assembling. Both key channels are important parts of LM s marketing
strategy and play a prominent role in the customer experience. LM uses mainly these own and direct
channels to reach its customers. It raises awareness about its cars using mostly its website. This
platform also helps potential customers in evaluating the offerings of LM as community members

service happen through the channel of microfactories. Customer Relationships Three categories of

Carl Sauer s Notion Of A Cultural Landscape And Why Is It...
Terrence McLaughlin
Landscapes, Place and People
Dr. Harriot Beazley
28 August 2015
What is Carl Sauer s notion of a cultural landscape and why is it useful for understanding the world?
Carl Sauer, one of the foremost geography scholars of the 20th century theorized that the defining
characteristics of a cultural landscape differed from those of his predecessors. His findings, while
contradictory to some of the most respected academics of his time, helped create an entirely new way
of thinking within the discipline (Sauer 1925). However, the influence of Sauer s work extended well
beyond the confines of any one discipline. He helped establish landscape studies in cultural geography
and strongly advocated for a responsible stewardship of the sustaining earth. Additionally, he supplied
an esthetic rationale and a historical perspective to the environmental movement. His theory
denounced the previously supported theory of environmental determinism, and suggested that cultural
landscapes are shaped by humans, as well as many other cultural aspects. In a more complex sense
Sauer proposed that cultural landscapes are the product of the human population, and that the actions
of humans and define the environment in which we all live. In his own words, Sauer states that
Culture is the agent, the natural area is the medium. The cultural landscape the result.
Since Sauer first introduced his theory of cultural landscapes in 1925, much has changed in the way
our society thinks

Rudyard Kipling Metaphors
Rudyard Kipling, an English poet born in India, was known for his classic poems that reflect the harsh
treatment he received in America. From such a harsh past, Kipling was able to describe several topics
through the use of multiple stylistic elements. The author creates a theme of the cruelty of society in
his poems If , The Thousandth Man, and The White Man s Burden through the use of metaphors, little
imagery, and repetition. To begin, Kipling uses a metaphor heavy writing style to effectively get his
point across. In the poem If , Kipling uses metaphors to create more meaning behind the quote, If you
can bear to hear the truth you ve spoken / twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools ( If Lines 13 14).
This metaphor stresses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of where Kipling could ve elaborated on his ideas with imagery is when he implied that
Yours is the Earth and all that s in it ( If Line 31). Here, Kipling presents himself with an opportunity
to further elaborate on the subject. While he could have described what the reader can obtain or gain
from the world, Kipling keeps it open to our imagination to decide what s in it. Another example of
where Kipling could ve elaborated his ideas with imagery is when he exaggerated that Nine hundred
and ninety nine of em go / by your looks, or your acts, or your glory ( The Thousandth Man Lines 11
12). The lack of adjectives used by Kipling in this text prevents him from being able to describe each
of these aspects. This suggests that the nine hundred and ninety nine people are blind by what you are
actually doing, and only view you by your authority. One last scenario of where Kipling could ve
elaborated his ideas with imagery is when he orders his sons to Go bind ... to exile / to serve [the]
captives need ( The White Man s Burden Lines 3 4). Based on Kipling s idea on slavery, he could have
emphasized using more imagery. Using imagery, the author would have better revealed his idea of
slaves being shackled and put to work against their

In the case of Robert Tolan and Marian Tolan vs. Jeffrey Wayne Cotton, I will be discussing what
interest me about this case. I will also deliberating on the liability and criminal liability of this case.
The Tolan vs. Cotton case interests me because the United States have so many police that are
brutalizing citizens. In some cases the police officers are getting away with it. After reading,
reviewing, and studying this case I have learn a lot about the criminal system and laws that men and
women should obey. I will explain how the nine judges on the Supreme courts all came to a verdict
against the police officer Jeffrey Cotton after he shot an innocent suspect. This people ... Show more

Accomplice Liability and Criminal Liability Accomplice liability consents the court to find a person
or persons criminally liable for actions committed by another person. Criminal liability is when a
person is commits the crime or act and that he or she intent to commit the crime at that moment.
Sergeant Cotton was acquitted of all criminal charges against him in the criminal side. However, the
Robert and Marian Tolan felt that the lower court s decision was not fair. I do agree with the Tolans. I
believe that courts did not take the evidence that was present to them inconsideration that Cotton was
guilty. Cotton carelessly made an error on typing in the car tag number that Robert Tolan and his
cousin was driving. Since, he made that mistake he is responsible criminal and civil. He should have
been since to prison time and he should be responsible of the wellbeing of Robert Tolan. On the other
hand Cotton was found not criminal liability for the charges in criminal court but Tolan took his case
to the Supreme Court. Cotton then was found responsible in civil court.
Difference between the various elements of crime including actus reus, mens rea, and concurrence
Mens rea, actus reus, and concurrence are all elements to a crime. These elements must be present to

intent to commit the crime with the mental capacity. The actus reus of an

The Benefits Of Scope Economies
One study of 36 large IDNs that contained hospitals, physicians, and health plans found that the more
providers invested in their IDNs, the lower their operating margins. Moreover, as hospitals diversified
into these different businesses, the larger was the negative impact on their financial position (e.g.,
higher debt to capitalization ratio). (Burns, Gimm, and Nicholson, 2005 pg 21). A more recent study
has found that integration of health plans with providers (hospitals or physician groups) to serve the
Medicare Advantage population is associated with higher plan premiums (Frakt, Pizer, and Feldman,
2013 p 21).
Diversification is defined as the expansion of the firm across product, geographic, and customer
markets. Firms have traditionally relied on this strategy for one of three major goals: growth, risk
reduction, and profitability. Commonly sough benefits include scope economies (via shared resources
and capabilities across businesses), economies from internalized transactions, and improved access to
market information (Grant, 2010). The benefits of scope economies are often referred to as synergies.
Other rationales include the firm s efforts to escape an increasingly unattractive market and to make
effective use of surplus cash flows by investing them in more attractive products or services. (Pg 22).
Research has shown that by diversifying, businesses can decrease its financial losses which is
identified by its higher debt to capitalization ratio.

Course Affects on My Views Regarding Sexuality Essays
Overall, I found the course to be freeing, liberating and challenging. I have what many think to be an
unorthodox view regarding sexuality and the way that the physical union between husband and wife
reflects our relationship with God. It was freeing to be confirmed in my open exploration and beliefs.
It was liberating to apply areas of Penner s readings to my marriage. It is good to introduce freshness
to a marriage along the way and even more so as the years go by. I am challenged to new levels and
depths of biblical thinking regarding sex and sexuality. The Crooks and Baur text was a good contrast
to Penner s text. The two text books coupled with the Bible made for interesting discoveries and
confirmations.
Writing out my story of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knowing one s self is essential to bringing wholeness and health to the union. Physical and emotional
self awareness are crucial elements in satisfying sexual experiences (Morehouse, 2001; Schwartz,
2003). After one has embraced the gift of sex, one still must be whole, healthy and know one s self
well. The individual who is confident and comfortable with self is ready to be united in marriage and
experience the enjoyment of all aspects of the gift of marriage with another. Any attempt to become
one with another apart from wholeness will most likely result in the unrealistic expectation of
completeness coming from one s spouse. This is idolatry, because it is Christ who completes us and
giving that responsibility to someone else is wrong. And you are complete in him, which is the head of
all principality and power (Colossians 2:10). Self awareness is a personal responsibility to God, self,
and one s mate. While I know myself well, I still discovered that I can know myself better as self
evolves as one experiences seasons of life.
Another concept that was thought provoking was attachment styles. One is a product of those that are
influential in their lives. Individuals transfer attachment styles and patterns acquired from parent child
relationships to peers with whom they become emotionally and sexually involved. In this sense,
romantic partners come to serve as attachment figures (Aspelmeier Kerns, 2003;

The Drug Of Red Blood Cells
Erythropoietin is a hormone that is produced by the kidneys in response to a decrease in the oxygen
carrying capacity of red blood cells in circulation (2). From the kidneys, erythropoietin (EPO) enters
the blood stream and enters the bone marrow where it stimulates an increase in the production of red
blood cells (1, 2). This mechanism functions as a negative feedback loop since the signaling of an
increase in the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood due to an increased number of red blood cells
inhibits further production of EPO. The release of EPO is very sensitive to the level of oxygen
carrying capacity in the blood. The simple occurrence of red blood cells death will trigger its release to
ensure normal levels are maintained (1). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An important aspect to producing synthesized EPO is the use of mammalian cells. EPO contains 40%
carbohydrates which are important to the stability and biosynthesis of recombinant EPO (5). In 1984,
EPO was able to be cloned and synthesized for use by using recombinant DNA technology (1, 3, 4, 5).
The biological properties of synthesized EPO are very similar to the original hormone found naturally
in the body (3). The importance of the mammalian cell carbohydrate composition allowed for the
carbohydrate portions of recombinant EPO to be almost identical to the carbohydrate portions of
native EPO (3). Success in creating synthetic EPO on a large scale that mimics native EPO in humans
allowed for the implementation of synthesized EPO for medicinal purposes. Synthesized
erythropoietin became the first hematopoietic growth factor to be used in clinical settings (1). The
discovery of synthesized EPO has provided patients with renal failure and severe anemia the ability to
reverse the effects of these disorders and improve the oxygen carrying capacity of their circulatory
system (1, 5). Individuals with kidney damage or renal failure are in need of EPO the most. Since
adults make EPO in their kidneys, any damage to the renal system will alter the ability to produce
enough EPO to sufficiently restore red blood cell levels (1, 5).

House Of Bernarda Alba

A whip and a mule for men can be seen as the reason for Angustias timid communications with Pepe
el Romano as seen in the extract. Moreover, Bernarda s ideals on social status are made clear when
Lorca has her reveal the reason for her sending away Enrique Humanes. This was because His father
was a farmhand , the effect of this being Martirio s assurances that she will never marry. The
uncertainties Bernarda s eldest daughter, Angustias, feels about love, and her inexperience of this is
revealed by her apprehensive questions and statement of I ought to be happy but I m not . This naivety
is emphasised by the all woman cast. The play opens with the death of the house s sole male
inhabitant which furthers this impression and creates an ironic foreshadowing of the extreme
conditions of siege which Bernarda forces upon her daughters. The distance between Bernarda and her
eldest daughter is made apparent by the short answers Angustias confidences receive and the physical
violence Bernarda directs at her when she strikes her with her stick in Act one. This, combined with
the large sum Angustias inherits from her stepfather, intimates that she was favoured in his will
because of some closer relationship; a possibility that she, like the Servant, was sexually taken
advantage of. This adds a greater emphasis to the implication of hidden secrets held by the household.

The Triangle Shirtwaist Industry During The 19th Century
During the 19th century, the population of the United States was booming and the Industrial
Revolution was in full swing. American industry was growing faster than any other nation in the
world. Settlers from European territories flooded into the country in hopes of a better life (Lambert).
The United States was doing things that had never been done before, and mistakes were made. The
Triangle Shirtwaist Factory was a horrific incident that demonstrated the need for factory regulations.
Many lessons can be learned from the factory, the fire, and the effect it had.

adopting safety standards. Some of the changes they made included: fire drills in large companies,
sprinkler systems in big buildings, and sturdy fire escapes. Since then OSHA (Occupational Safety
and Health Administration) was created and work safety is made a priority.
[That day] is remembered as one of the most infamous incidents in American industrial history, as the
deaths were largely preventable most of the victims died as a result of neglected safety features and
locked doors within the factory building. The tragedy brought widespread attention to the dangerous
sweatshop conditions of factories, and led to the development of a series of laws and regulations that
better protected the safety of workers. (Fire of 1911)
Conclusion
In summary, the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory was a grim fire that led to the development of factory
regulations. The condition of the factory, the fire, and what was done to prevent history from repeating
itself play important roles into the story. Standards are now in place to protect the safety of workers,

Mechanism Of The Electoral College
The electoral college is the mechanism established by the United States constitution for the indirect
election of the president of the United States and Vice president. The electoral college was created was
created because the founding fathers were afraid a tyrant could manipulate the system. Because a state
s electoral votes are equal to its representatives plus its two senators, and every state has two senators,
the electoral college gives excessive weight to states with small populations.
The Constitution assigns each state a number of electors that equals to the combined total of the state s
Senate and House of Representatives. The number of electoral votes per state is equal to the number of

Wal Mart Is A Key Customer For Any Consumer Brand Essay
There is no doubt that Wal Mart is a key customer for any consumer brand. And keeping a
strategically long term relationship with a retailer giant like Wal Mart is inevitable, yet balancing sales
with plenty of others is vital to a brand s health. P G has to find ways to reduce its dependence on
these retailers. This is the strategy that P G is using today, focusing on its core products and distinctive
capabilities to serve those high end segments. P G also faces competition from Wal Mart s private
brands. The retailer has been very aggressive in recent years in offering private brands. (Cravens

sales through other retailers require the following actions: Strengthening core premium, biggest and
most profitable brands such as Pampers, Crest and Head Shoulders. Because it has so many brands, P

ad campaigns and events to package design and product launches, PR and displays inside Wal Mart
and other retailers. (Tadena Ng, 2015) Perform intense market research to achieve successful

What Was The Role Of US Intervention In Guatemala
The U.S. intervened in Guatemala in 1954 because Jacobo Árbenz became president and began to
modernize Guatemala. Árbenz was said to have had close allies who were communists. The U.S.
assumed that the funding for these modernization projects were coming from a foreign power, the
Soviet Union. Former President Árbenz also began a land reform project in which he bought land
from land owners and distributed it to peasants. He attempted to buy the land of the United fruit
company, for a little over a million dollars, from the U.S.. The U.S. declined this offer and sent their
U.S. Ambassador to speak with Árbenz. The U.S. then organized an operation to overthrow the

A Bar At The Folies Bergere Essay
A Bar at the Folies Bergère was one Manet s last pieces and was part of the avant garde and
Impressionists movement into modernism. He was inspired by Gustave Courbet s realism and how he
approached modernism with the working class like his piece The Stone Breakers. He also wanted to
rise to a challenge from an argument made in Charles Baudelaire s essay The Painter of Modern Life
to be painters of contemporary manners . . . using both modern subjects and new approaches to seeing
and representing the visual world. He often painted controversial pieces like Le Déjeuner Sur L Herbe
(The Luncheon on the Grass) and Olympia to shock the bourgeoisie with subject matters that were
considered immoral to the art world showing the reality of society during that time. While painting
this, he was incredibly ill with syphilis thus A Bar at the Folies Bergère was his last major piece to be
completed and hung in the Salon.
Just like his major pieces, he is also demonstrating modernism by having a working barmaid at the
Folies Bergère as the focal point of the piece (Fig. 1). Unlike his piece Olympia, Manet painted the
barmaid with softer strokes instead of intense lining of the body, yet she still has that pale tone with
some pinkness in her cheeks. While the Folies Bergère was a place of entertainment, her gaze is rather
a look of boredom or aloofness perhaps to show that she is not fully part of the bourgeoisie. Because
her dress, it makes her class ambiguous and possibly a

Heathcliff Characteristics
Geographical Surroundings Shape Traits Throughout the novel, issues of setting and social status can
reflect onto the characters, therefore shaping their traits. Each character is connected to their differing
settings, which in return creates the character s differing attitudes and psychological or moral traits.
Heathcliff, Edgar Linton, and Catherine Earnshaw are the three characters in which their settings
reflect their personalities, and therefore create their physical and moral traits. Heathcliff is harsh and
fierce, for he seems dark and mysterious because he never shows his emotions. When first introduced
to Heathcliff in the novel, he lacked hospitality and comfort towards Lockwood when he had come to
visit him as a guest. Heathcliff, for the beginning parts of his life, stood in a lower social class than the
people he lived around, and therefore created a dark attitude towards others out of anger and jealousy.
His dark and evil traits are connected to landscape around his house, Wuthering Heights, for they have
the same characteristics as Heathcliff. The landscape that surrounds the house can be described as
rugged, and it is exposed to extreme weather elements that reflect Heathcliff s emotions and traits. The
harsh snow that falls at Wuthering Heights makes the outdoors uninviting, just as Heathcliff s
personality makes him seem uninviting. Neither the snow, the landscape, nor Heathcliff give off a
warm, comforting feeling, but instead give off harsh, cold

Imagine leaving your wealth, home, family, and even country behind for twenty years. While away,
people will inevitably attempt to steal your possessions, seduce your spouse, and act as though you
will never return. Most likely, more people will try to harm your estate than those who will continue
working and behaving in an honest manner. This notion holds true in Homer s epic poem, The
Odyssey. While Odysseus wages war and struggles to return to Ithaka , a multitude of suitors court his
wife and live at the cost of his possessions. On the other hand, a few people like Eumaios remain

Eumaios feels the pain and hardship that Laërtês endures, as he feels that the distressed Laërtês needs
instantaneous notice of his grandson s return.
In addition to being empathetic throughout the poem, Eumaios loves those who need it most:
Odysseus, Telémakhos, and the swine entrusted to him. When everyone else had finished dinner and
went to bed for the evening, Eumaios took a sharpened lance, and went to rest / under a hollow rock
where swine were sleeping (14.629 30). Homer uses this as an opportunity to show that Eumaios truly
treasured his swine; instead of sleeping like the others, he ventures out into the cold to watch over the
vulnerable swine. Later, when Telémakhos returns from searching for Odysseus, it is remarked that
Eumaios kissed the young man s head, his shining eyes / and both hands, while his own tears brimmed
and fell (16.21 2). In Odysseus absence, Eumaios essentially assumes the paternal role in Telémakhos
life, and Eumaios was ecstatic to see that his son had returned safely to Ithaka and avoided the
murderous suitors. Another emotional scene takes place when Odysseus reveals himself to the faithful
swineherd and cowherd. When Eumaios hears the news, he puts his arms around the old soldier,
weeping, / kissing his head and shoulders (21.251 2). Eumaios beams with excitement and joy when
he finds out his long last master has finally returned;

The Intrinsic Description Of Adequate Boarding
This past weekend I went back to my home town; Jacksonville, Fl, and visited with some of my old
friends from high school. Since we all live so close to the beach we all decided to have a beach day on
Saturday. While we were at the beach on Saturday we all decided to rent two paddleboards and try it
out. None of us have ever paddled boarded before this just surfed, but we always see people paddle
boarding at the beach so we thought it was going to be pretty easy. My friend Michelle and I were the
first two people that went out to try it and my other friend jo just laughed at us from the beach. It was
a lot harder than what we thought especially in not a calm ocean. We kept getting up then falling down
over and over again, but despite all our efforts it was a very fun experience. I don t think I stood up on
the paddle board for more than 2minutes, but it was a great challenge. I loved it because there was ...

One of the motivators paddle boarding can be described as is Intrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation
is the performance of an activity for the behaviors itself and the feels that result from the activity.
People want to go paddle boarding because they want to feel peace, happiness, and a boasted self
esteem just like how I felt. They want to paddle board because they have experienced that the result of
this activity leaves them feeling good. The second motivation would be Identified motivation.
Identified motivation means people participate because they see the value and get something out of it
(skill building or increasing physical fitness). While I was paddle boarding I what kept me getting
back up on the board was the fact that if I kept getting on the board I would improve my skill. As well
as myself, people want to keep paddle boarding and getting back up on the board because they believe
that if they continue to not give up not only will their skill improve, but also their physical

Diamond is a giant covalent network structure, having each Carbon atom sharing electrons with four
other Carbon atoms, therefore having four single covalent bonds formed. These Carbon covalent
bonds are extremely strong and account for two of diamond s most prominent physical properties
among all elements, hardness and a high melting point. Diamond has a high melting point due to the
fact that diamond is a covalent lattice, hence, melting this covalent lattice involves breaking many
strong covalent bonds. This melting process requires a large amount of energy and, as a result, melting
diamond requires a high temperature, approximately around 35500C. Having strong covalent bonds,
diamond also has a high level of hardness due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It are these properties which allow graphite to be used to draw with (using a pencil), as the friction
against weak intermolecular forces on paper causes layers of graphite to rub off onto the paper. It is
this layered structure and the weak bonding between the sheets that determines the soft slippery feel of
graphite, thus, creating graphite s self lubricating property. Being used a lubricant, graphite can be
used at very high or low temperatures for many different works, such as: steelmaking, wire die
extrusion lubricant, gear lubricant for mining machinery and to lubricate locks. While natural graphite
can be used in zinc carbon batteries in electric motor brushes and other specific works.
From all of these uses, graphite also has the ability to conduct electricity, and we can the reason as to
why when looking at the electron arrangement in graphite. As each Carbon atom bonds to three other
Carbon atoms, there is a fourth electron remaining in the bonding level. These remaining electrons in
each Carbon atom form into a sea of delocalised electrons, moving around the whole sheet of atoms in
the one layer. It is the ability of these delocalised electrons to move freely through their own Carbon
layer, hence, making graphite a good conductor of electricity. Being a good conductor of electricity
graphite, can be used as electrodes to an arc lamp and to carry the electricity that heats electric arc
furnaces.

Professor Kraychir A motivated workforce can be a significant success when employees are motivated
to work at a higher levels of productivity. Also this means the whole organization is more effective at
reaching it s goals. Rewards can be a positive outcome when it comes to boosting your organizations
self confidence and higher employee satisfaction. Having a reward system can always be a good
outcomes because this shows how much your workers are willing to work to achieving a goal in order
to receive something in return. This not only gets things done but brings out another side of your
organizations as a whole. Of course when using a reward systems and you decide to put one in place
for your organization, there should be a good enough reward placed. Just for example a worker will
not work two times as hard for something they do not want. The reward has to get your organization,
employees motivated to achieve the goal you have set. There are aligned organizational goals, when
an employee helps achieve one of its goals a heft reward often follows. And that s what get the worker

Essay On Calypso
Calypso has played a significant role in the politics of the country and acts as medium for the masses

communication remained the strength of the calypsonian, well after slavery. They were experts in their
art form on the communication of political and other relevant messages to the population of Trinidad

artists derive their inspiration from while making out visuals for the nativity scene. Some choose to

specific themes or to better portray the culture for which the scene is for. The artist Dora Gelsinger

seem to flicker over the water. Piggy dismisses these images as mirages caused by sunlight striking the

Gender Inequality And The Aristotelian Society
Gender Inequality in an Aristotelian Polity Aristotle s philosophies were deeply influenced by his
upbringing and interest in biology. He believed that the reason of a thing lies in its function.
Everything that exists has a purpose, and that purpose is the reason that thing is the way it is. For
example, all the substances that make up a seed are there because the way those particular substances
interact with each other causes that seed to grow. When the seed grows, it reaches its full potential as a
plant. Humans are the same. Human beings have a potential to live up to, which is finding true
happiness by living an honorable life. One lives an honorable life by complying with societal
standards, which are built through community based on three levels of organization. The first of these
is the household, which is designed to manage the necessities of individual existence, such as
procreation, sleep, nourishment, and shelter (pg. 35). The second is the village, which in simple terms
is the market place of society, where people buy and sell goods and services. The last of the levels is
the polis, the political community in charge of making collective decisions in the public s best interest.
Each of these levels performs an essential, inescapable function in any society (pg. 35) Species
survival is crucial to any society, and is covered under the household level of government. But

Persuasive Essay On Health Care
America is a great nation, that is full of independent people. This is great, it leads to many good
inventions and progressive ideas. But when it comes to the way healthcare works, America is lacking
compared to the rest of the first world countries. The fully privatized health insurance leaves people of
lower income without the access to the great healthcare we as Americans deserve. So, I think that
America s healthcare system should be rebuilt where everyone can go to the doctors without fear of
the outrageous pricing. America is such a great place, as far as medical advancements. The fact that
this is walled off so heavily to most people because of cost is something that needs to change. The
problem isn t going to be easy to fix. Whatever you want to say about Obama s presidency his plan
with the Affordable Health Care Act was the pioneering steps towards moving our, seemingly ancient,
healthcare system into the future. Even as much as Trump hates to admit it he is in favor of this idea
too. He has stated that he doesn t think anyone should go without getting help when they are sick. The
country needs a base level of insurance. The fact people would rather get drove to the hospital than to
call an ambulance because of costs. This shows we really need to think about reforming the way we
treat our people. The problem isn t just with serious injuries that require immediate medical attention.

A Common Trope Within International Relations That Is Often
A common trope within international relations that is often discussed by analysts and average
individuals alike, is the inevitable decline of American power. Delving into this trope in his book, IS
THE AMERICAN CENTURY OVER?, Joseph S. NYE, JR, argues that the period of American pre
eminence in military, economic, and soft power resources is not over (116). In structuring his
argument, Nye first analyzes Europe, Japan, Brazil, and India and their potential role in challenging
America s ability to maintain an international order. Then, Nye turns his attention towards China, and
comparatively analyzes its military, economic, and soft power to that of the United States. Conversely,
Nye explores potential American responses to China s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within these terms, Nye contextualizes his argument. For example, Nye explains that though China s
economic and military power allow it to be a more of a potent threat than other challenger, it has a
host of domestic issues, ranging from an underdeveloped countryside to rapid industrialization (50).
Even if China were to overcome its domestic problems, which would translate to an increase in
Chinese economic power, a preponderant role for China in the world economy would not equate to a
Chinese hegemony. It s political and military actions would still have to account for the United States.
Through dissecting how any economic advantage China has over America is negligible, as it comes at
a price for it as well, Nye makes the argument that interdependence constrains China into working
with America in maintaining the international order, rather than working against it. As the United
States derives power from the dollar, much has been said about China s massive holding of dollars,
and how it could potentially use it as a bargaining chip in its relationship with the United States.
However, Nye claims that in the interdependent relationship between the nations, power depends on
asymmetries in interdependence (54). Thus, if China were to dump its dollars on world financial
markets, it could bring America to its knees, but it would also bring

When faced with hardships in life, a person is often given two choices, to either give up or persevere.
Many people who are faced with these choices choose to give up, these people never got to live life to
their full potential. If they would have persevered then they would have eventually overcame their
challenge and been able to move on from it. If a person does not persevere they will never be able to
move on and will always be ok with where they are at and never grow. This is why a person should
persevere, but what exactly is a person who perseveres? In the dictionary, perseverance is defined as a,

The Theory Of The Equilibrium System
In this lab, Le Chatelier s Principle was observed by shifting different equilibriums to the left or right
in order to make the colors of the rainbow. The equilibrium shift could be identified by the colors of
the solution. In the tray 5 experiment, the reactant was pink and the product was a dark blue color.
After stressing the equilibrium, a pink color indicated that the equilibrium was shifted to the left, and a
blue color indicated that the equilibrium was shifted to the right. The stresses that were studied in this
experiment were changes in the temperature of the system and changes in concentrations of reactants
or products. Le Chatelier s Principle states that when an equilibrium system is subject to a stress, the
system responds by attaining a new equilibrium condition that minimizes the imposed stress. The
main stresses on an equilibrium system are changes in concentration of the reactants or products,
changes in temperature, and changes in pressure or volume for gaseous equilibria. The stress will
either not cause a shift in equilibrium or will cause the system to shift left of right in order to establish
an equilibrium. Adding or removing a pure solid or liquid does not change the concentration;
therefore, it does not affect equilibrium. Only aqueous solutions and gases affect equilibrium.
Increasing the concentration of the reactants will cause a shift to the right. Decreasing the
concentration of the products also has the same effect. Decreasing the

decimating the city, and killing around 140,000 people within months of the explosion. 3 days later,
the US dropped a second bomb over the city of Nagasaki in Japan, killing roughly 80,000 people. The
second World War had been going on for 7 years, the Germans had surrendered but the Japanese had
yet to do so. So the United States created and atomic bomb in a program called the Manhattan project

A narratively complex show thus rejects the episodic convention of a return to the original status quo
at the end of each episode, as one might see in an episode of Friends. Problems are often left
unresolved to be expanded upon in future episodes. Narrative complexity is thus cumulative and
unconventional: it is a combination of episodic closure and serial accumulation, and employs new and
engaging narratives and forms of storytelling (Jackson). Of the many ways to achieve narrative
complexity, Mittell discusses operational aesthetic, which can best be described as something similar
to special effects. Operational aesthetic is augmented in certain moments within a narratively complex
program. That being said, complex television employs something called the narrative special effect,
which is when a program makes use of certain storytelling tools, to engage the viewer (Mittell 43). It
is by way of the narrative special effect that the media makers attempt to foster engagement in
audiences by planting clues, and this can be achieved through, for example, shifts in perspective or
time, dreams or fantasy sequences, and the absence of clear storytelling cues. The result is that
audiences focus and speculate on form and structure in addition to content (Jackson). As a narratively
complex program, AHS: Murder House makes use of narrative special effects to drive its storyline and
to develop its characters. Episodes start in different time periods, and characters are often

shortages, an increase in population density, and an overall loss of quality of life. In order to prevent
these potential effects, Barnosky and Hadly suggested three possible solutions to combating
overpopulation a global catastrophe, a one child policy, or an increase in education, job, and
contraception availability among girls. Any one of these solutions will potentially help us prevent
overpopulation; however, exactly which solution it ends up being all depends on our preparation and
the actions we take now. Ideally, we would like to avoid a global catastrophe that would decimate the
population. But, if we are unable to lower our growth rate another world war, or something like a
pandemic could occur. While no correlation between population density and nation level conflict has
been made, the connection between overcrowding and increased internal conflict has been (Tir 1998).
Thus, it would be preferable to take advantage of the other solutions like the one child policy that

Liberalism is define by the desire to minimise the role of...
Liberalism is defined by the desire to minimise the role of the state Discuss. Liberalism as an ideology
revolves around the idea of freedom for the individual. The reason for this is due to the liberal s view
of human nature; they see the human being as unique and rational; able to make decisions in their best
interest. Although all liberals agree on individual freedom, when it comes to the role of the state they
are split down the middle. On one side there are the classic liberals who believe in as little state
intervention as possible, and on the other side there is the modern liberals who believe state
intervention is necessary as it can develop people and create equal opportunity. When looking at a
liberal view of the state it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In classic liberals eyes, true freedom is that when the individual is left completely to their own desire,
at best the state can be seen as a necessary evil , or as Jefferson summed up, Government is best when
governed least . On the other hand there are the modern liberals, who in contrast, have advanced a
developmental form of individualism that prioritises human flourishing over the quest for interest
satisfaction. This idea says that people can be developed in order to become the best person they can
be. In contrast to classic liberals, modern liberals follow positive freedom. This was an idea proposed
by Green in the late nineteenth centaury; it recognizes that liberty may also be threatened by social
disadvantage and inequality. This, in turn, implied a revised view of the state. By protecting
individuals from the social evils that threaten to limit their lives, the state can expand freedom, and not
merely diminish it. In the place of the old minimal state, modern liberals have devised a new enabling
state , exercising an increasingly wide range of social and economic responsibilities. Therefore
modern liberals differ from the classic liberal in terms of the individual, as the classics believe the
state restricts and limits individual freedom, whereas modern liberals see the state as enabling and
protective, and can therefore boost levels of individual freedom

Causes Of The American Revolution The Antagonizing British
American Revolution: The Antagonizing British The American Revolution had initiated due to chain
reaction events caused by the British that infuriated the colonists. Many of the colonist felt that the
British were violating their constitutional rights, so the colonist eventually fought back. The three
major events that led up to the American Revolution where the French and Indian War, Intolerable
Acts, and the Battle of Lexington and Concord. The British fueled the American Revolution by
limiting colonist s expansion, violating their rights, invading U.S. soil. All three of these events
against the colonists came together like a puzzle to start the American Revolution War. The French
and Indian War started in 1754 and it was a war between the French with United States help against
the Indians with Britain s help. The war was fought in North America, eventually the British won the
war and French was kicked out of the North America territory. The British were able to gain a
substantial amount of land from the colonists although they suffered some repercussions. The war had
been enormously expensive, and the British government s attempts to impose taxes on colonists to
help cover these expenses resulted in increasing colonial resentment of British attempts to expand
imperial authority in the colonies. British attempts to limit western expansion by colonists and
inadvertent provocation of a major Indian war further angered the British subjects living in the

My Favorite Quote Analysis
My favorite quote will always be by Sappho in which she says, Someone, I tell you, in another time
will remember us. She was right. She s remembered for being a gay poet and is immortalized despite a
lot of her works not being found completely. It s one of my favorite quotes because identifying as a
nonbinary queer person who also likes girls, I can relate to Sappho a lot when she writes about her
desire for love and personal heartbreaks. This quote also brings me ease as even in another time
someone will still remember me. I think we all want to leave a legacy of some sort, and for me I want
my legacy to be centered around my experience and accomplishments as an American born Punjabi
artist and social activist, who was also highly active in the LGBTQ+ community. I want someone to
remember me because it is a vicious cycle that people of color and members of the color in the
LGBTQ+ community get forgotten in history. History is white washed. But the idea that I will do
enough in my life to be remembered in some shape or form, reminds me that my efforts and failures as
a Punjabi artist and social activist are just part of a legacy I am starting.
Moving on, my strength and determination did not magically appear one day. I had a lot of amazing
people who are a part of my support network who helped show me what healthy self love and growth
is supposed to be. One of the people I will be highlighting is my AP English teacher. Candice Ligator,
was one of the best, and one of my favorite teachers in my high school career. She was a big part of
my support system when it came to being a trans and queer student who had a lot of family issues. She
was also a big inspiration to me as she told us stories full of struggles growing as a teacher. She talked
about how starting off as a teacher at first made her cry every night, showing me that it takes
persistence to be adept in a profession. Her choices on the pieces of literature she taught were
engaging as they touched upon feminism, gay rights, and race. This allowed me to explore both my
interest in writing and in social justice. Reading about personal experiences from Mary Shelley, Oscar
Wilde, and Ralph Ellison was inspiring as it allowed me to see that I can

Nathan Bedford Forrest And Thomas Jackson Essay
Nathan Bedford Forrest and Thomas Jackson, both where extraordinary individuals living for the
cause which they saw fit.
General Nathan Bedford Forrest was a man born with determination and Grit. He started off with
nothing and lost his father when he was only 16 years old. He lived with his uncle for some time but
before long his uncle was killed in the streets over a dispute. Forrest then rode out in search of those
who killed his uncle, hunted them down and killed two of the murders. At the break out of the
American Civil War Forrest who sided with the confederacy, was quite a wealthy man owning his own
plantation with slaves. Forrest brought along 45 slaves. They fought just as any other soldier in the
Confederate army. This always interested me that General Forrest placed his men together both black
and white and they were all one body of men united, while the Union army had segregated units for
African Americans.
On the field of battle Forrest was a magnificent fighter, and a very Tactical Commander. He fought in
battles like Shiloh in Chickamauga. Here is the crazy part about General Nathan Bedford Forrest when
he served as a general in the Confederate Army.
He had 29 horses shot out from under him he killed Thirty union men with his own hands. If that is
not crazy enough at the end of the Battle of Shiloh his forced lead a cavalry charge into a main body
of Union troops. Slashing with his sabre, General Forrest was stuck by a Union bayonet it went into

Cold War Ethical Reflection
Reflection of the Cold War The Cold War, from 1945 to 1991, is one of the most important periods of
time that has greatly influenced and shaped the modern world. It was not just a battle between two
super powers, the USA and the Soviet Union, but also a clash of two really popular ideologies during
that time. There was the American claim of fighting for freedom and democracy and the Soviet claims
of fighting for the interests of the workers and the common people. Now in theory, these ideologies
seemed ethical, but throughout this period, both countries actions severely opposed the ideologies they
represented on numerous occasions. Some say it all came down to a competition of achieving the most
power and influence and just using what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Marshal Plan although was one of the greatest actions USA had taken and they gave about 13
million dollars in aid to the war devastated countries in order to help them rebuild. Some might argue
that they only did this to improve their trade business with these countries and to help form NATO in
order to compete with the Soviets and this is partially true. Other things they did which showed they
actually stood up for democracy was supporting the democratic revolutions in the Korean War, Polish
Solidarity Movement, and the Velvet Revolution. They not only did they do this for freedom, but also
to stop the authoritarian spread of Communism which they deemed highly undemocratic and even
propagandized it as evil especially during the Berlin Airlift which is one of the most famous
benevolent event that the USA orchestrated. But those were the only freedom fighting they took.
Everything else they did was highly undemocratic. USA has a tendency to overthrow foreign
government if they don t please their interests. Their first major anti freedom action was overthrowing
the democratically elected government of Iran simply because the new leader decided to nationalize
the oil for benefit of the Iranian People. Then they did the exact same thing in Guatemala because the
interests of their fruit companies were in danger. All of these overthrows were done through US
backed coups and the School of America played a key

The Little Albert Experiment Of Classical Conditioning
The Little Albert Experiment In 1920, behaviorist John B. Watson and his graduate student Rosalie
Rayner wanted to study classical conditioning in people. Classical conditioning is when two stimuli
are paired and produce an effect off of the second stimulus, but eventually produce the same effect
with the first stimulus individually. Watson believed they were capable of furthering psychologist Ivan
Pavlov s research on conditioning dogs to conditioning humans. Watson was a professor at John
Hopkins University and of course, that was Rayner s alma mater. Watson wanted to justify that
emotions were something learned and not inherently placed in the human mind. According to
Alexander Burgemeester, Watson hypothesized that although it was uncommon for a baby to have a
phobia of animals, if one animal succeeds in arousing fear, any moving furry animal thereafter may
arouse it (Burgemeester). Both, Watson and Rayner fed off of scientist Ivan Pavlov s classical
conditioning experiment. Ivan Pavlov was a Russian scientist who is famously known for his classical
conditioning experiment on dogs, better known as Pavlov s Dogs. Pavlov originated classical
conditioning unintentionally (McLeod). His experiment consisted of a dog, its saliva glands, dog food,
and a bell. Pavlov noticed that dogs had natural reflexes and wanted to point out that they did not need
to be taught certain things (McLeod). The dog s saliva glands were the main implements while
conducting this experiment.

The first deadly affair is among Gorlois, Igraine, and Uther Pendragon. Then, towards the climax of the legend, comes the love between King Arthur, Guinevere, and Sir Lancelot. The relationship between Elaine, Guinevere, and Lancelot is brought to light towards the end of the legend. Out of the many love triangles that end in a tragedy, one example is the love among Igraine, Gorlois, and Uther. At first, Igraine is married to Gorlois who is the Duke of Cornwall. Elaine s affection for Sir Lancelot was so strong, that once he left Astolat, she became mournful and ill. Soon after, the Lily Maid of Astolat was pronounced dead because of her false relationship with Lancelot, where only she loved him, but he did not love her back. But, the reason her death was considered a fantasy, was because of the fact that she was positive that Lancelot had feelings for her in return. • 4. Carl Sauer s Notion Of A Cultural Landscape And Why Is It... Terrence McLaughlin Landscapes, Place and People Dr. Harriot Beazley 28 August 2015 What is Carl Sauer s notion of a cultural landscape and why is it useful for understanding the world? Carl Sauer, one of the foremost geography scholars of the 20th century theorized that the defining characteristics of a cultural landscape differed from those of his predecessors. His findings, while contradictory to some of the most respected academics of his time, helped create an entirely new way of thinking within the discipline (Sauer 1925). However, the influence of Sauer s work extended well beyond the confines of any one discipline. He helped establish landscape studies in cultural geography and strongly advocated for a responsible stewardship of the sustaining earth. Additionally, he supplied an esthetic rationale and a historical perspective to the environmental movement. His theory denounced the previously supported theory of environmental determinism, and suggested that cultural landscapes are shaped by humans, as well as many other cultural aspects. In a more complex sense Sauer proposed that cultural landscapes are the product of the human population, and that the actions of humans and define the environment in which we all live. In his own words, Sauer states that Culture is the agent, the natural area is the medium. The cultural landscape the result. Since Sauer first introduced his theory of cultural landscapes in 1925, much has changed in the way our society thinks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Rudyard Kipling Metaphors Rudyard Kipling, an English poet born in India, was known for his classic poems that reflect the harsh treatment he received in America. From such a harsh past, Kipling was able to describe several topics through the use of multiple stylistic elements. The author creates a theme of the cruelty of society in his poems If , The Thousandth Man, and The White Man s Burden through the use of metaphors, little imagery, and repetition. To begin, Kipling uses a metaphor heavy writing style to effectively get his point across. In the poem If , Kipling uses metaphors to create more meaning behind the quote, If you can bear to hear the truth you ve spoken / twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools ( If Lines 13 14). This metaphor stresses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of where Kipling could ve elaborated on his ideas with imagery is when he implied that Yours is the Earth and all that s in it ( If Line 31). Here, Kipling presents himself with an opportunity to further elaborate on the subject. While he could have described what the reader can obtain or gain from the world, Kipling keeps it open to our imagination to decide what s in it. Another example of where Kipling could ve elaborated his ideas with imagery is when he exaggerated that Nine hundred and ninety nine of em go / by your looks, or your acts, or your glory ( The Thousandth Man Lines 11 12). The lack of adjectives used by Kipling in this text prevents him from being able to describe each of these aspects. This suggests that the nine hundred and ninety nine people are blind by what you are actually doing, and only view you by your authority. One last scenario of where Kipling could ve elaborated his ideas with imagery is when he orders his sons to Go bind ... to exile / to serve [the] captives need ( The White Man s Burden Lines 3 4). Based on Kipling s idea on slavery, he could have emphasized using more imagery. Using imagery, the author would have better revealed his idea of slaves being shackled and put to work against their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In some cases the police officers are getting away with it. After reading, reviewing, and studying this case I have learn a lot about the criminal system and laws that men and women should obey. Accomplice Liability and Criminal Liability Accomplice liability consents the court to find a person or persons criminally liable for actions committed by another person. Criminal liability is when a person is commits the crime or act and that he or she intent to commit the crime at that moment. Sergeant Cotton was acquitted of all criminal charges against him in the criminal side. However, the Robert and Marian Tolan felt that the lower court s decision was not fair. I do agree with the Tolans. I believe that courts did not take the evidence that was present to them inconsideration that Cotton was guilty. Cotton carelessly made an error on typing in the car tag number that Robert Tolan and his cousin was driving. Since, he made that mistake he is responsible criminal and civil. He should have been since to prison time and he should be responsible of the wellbeing of Robert Tolan. • 7. The Benefits Of Scope Economies One study of 36 large IDNs that contained hospitals, physicians, and health plans found that the more providers invested in their IDNs, the lower their operating margins. Moreover, as hospitals diversified into these different businesses, the larger was the negative impact on their financial position (e.g., higher debt to capitalization ratio). (Burns, Gimm, and Nicholson, 2005 pg 21). A more recent study has found that integration of health plans with providers (hospitals or physician groups) to serve the Medicare Advantage population is associated with higher plan premiums (Frakt, Pizer, and Feldman, 2013 p 21). Diversification is defined as the expansion of the firm across product, geographic, and customer markets. Firms have traditionally relied on this strategy for one of three major goals: growth, risk reduction, and profitability. Commonly sough benefits include scope economies (via shared resources and capabilities across businesses), economies from internalized transactions, and improved access to market information (Grant, 2010). The benefits of scope economies are often referred to as synergies. Other rationales include the firm s efforts to escape an increasingly unattractive market and to make effective use of surplus cash flows by investing them in more attractive products or services. (Pg 22). Research has shown that by diversifying, businesses can decrease its financial losses which is identified by its higher debt to capitalization ratio. There is no solid ... • 8. Course Affects on My Views Regarding Sexuality Essays Overall, I found the course to be freeing, liberating and challenging. I have what many think to be an unorthodox view regarding sexuality and the way that the physical union between husband and wife reflects our relationship with God. It was freeing to be confirmed in my open exploration and beliefs. It was liberating to apply areas of Penner s readings to my marriage. It is good to introduce freshness to a marriage along the way and even more so as the years go by. I am challenged to new levels and depths of biblical thinking regarding sex and sexuality. The Crooks and Baur text was a good contrast to Penner s text. The two text books coupled with the Bible made for interesting discoveries and confirmations. Writing out my story of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Knowing one s self is essential to bringing wholeness and health to the union. Physical and emotional self awareness are crucial elements in satisfying sexual experiences (Morehouse, 2001; Schwartz, 2003). After one has embraced the gift of sex, one still must be whole, healthy and know one s self well. The individual who is confident and comfortable with self is ready to be united in marriage and experience the enjoyment of all aspects of the gift of marriage with another. Any attempt to become one with another apart from wholeness will most likely result in the unrealistic expectation of completeness coming from one s spouse. This is idolatry, because it is Christ who completes us and giving that responsibility to someone else is wrong. And you are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power (Colossians 2:10). Self awareness is a personal responsibility to God, self, and one s mate. While I know myself well, I still discovered that I can know myself better as self evolves as one experiences seasons of life. Another concept that was thought provoking was attachment styles. One is a product of those that are influential in their lives. Individuals transfer attachment styles and patterns acquired from parent child relationships to peers with whom they become emotionally and sexually involved. In this sense, romantic partners come to serve as attachment figures (Aspelmeier Kerns, 2003; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Drug Of Red Blood Cells Erythropoietin is a hormone that is produced by the kidneys in response to a decrease in the oxygen carrying capacity of red blood cells in circulation (2). From the kidneys, erythropoietin (EPO) enters the blood stream and enters the bone marrow where it stimulates an increase in the production of red blood cells (1, 2). This mechanism functions as a negative feedback loop since the signaling of an increase in the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood due to an increased number of red blood cells inhibits further production of EPO. The release of EPO is very sensitive to the level of oxygen carrying capacity in the blood. The simple occurrence of red blood cells death will trigger its release to ensure normal levels are maintained (1). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An important aspect to producing synthesized EPO is the use of mammalian cells. EPO contains 40% carbohydrates which are important to the stability and biosynthesis of recombinant EPO (5). In 1984, EPO was able to be cloned and synthesized for use by using recombinant DNA technology (1, 3, 4, 5). The biological properties of synthesized EPO are very similar to the original hormone found naturally in the body (3). The importance of the mammalian cell carbohydrate composition allowed for the carbohydrate portions of recombinant EPO to be almost identical to the carbohydrate portions of native EPO (3). Success in creating synthetic EPO on a large scale that mimics native EPO in humans allowed for the implementation of synthesized EPO for medicinal purposes. Synthesized erythropoietin became the first hematopoietic growth factor to be used in clinical settings (1). The discovery of synthesized EPO has provided patients with renal failure and severe anemia the ability to reverse the effects of these disorders and improve the oxygen carrying capacity of their circulatory system (1, 5). Individuals with kidney damage or renal failure are in need of EPO the most. Since adults make EPO in their kidneys, any damage to the renal system will alter the ability to produce enough EPO to sufficiently restore red blood cell levels (1, 5). Moreover, Bernarda s ideals on social status are made clear when Lorca has her reveal the reason for her sending away Enrique Humanes. This was because His father was a farmhand , the effect of this being Martirio s assurances that she will never marry. The uncertainties Bernarda s eldest daughter, Angustias, feels about love, and her inexperience of this is revealed by her apprehensive questions and statement of I ought to be happy but I m not . This naivety is emphasised by the all woman cast. The play opens with the death of the house s sole male inhabitant which furthers this impression and creates an ironic foreshadowing of the extreme conditions of siege which Bernarda forces upon her daughters. The distance between Bernarda and her eldest daughter is made apparent by the short answers Angustias confidences receive and the physical violence Bernarda directs at her when she strikes her with her stick in Act one. This, combined with the large sum Angustias inherits from her stepfather, intimates that she was favoured in his will because of some closer relationship; a possibility that she, like the Servant, was sexually taken advantage of. This adds a greater emphasis to the implication of hidden secrets held by the household. Later in the extract the blackness of the sky outside, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

American industry was growing faster than any other nation in the world. Settlers from European territories flooded into the country in hopes of a better life (Lambert). The United States was doing things that had never been done before, and mistakes were made. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory was a horrific incident that demonstrated the need for factory regulations. And keeping a strategically long term relationship with a retailer giant like Wal Mart is inevitable, yet balancing sales with plenty of others is vital to a brand s health. P G has to find ways to reduce its dependence on these retailers. This is the strategy that P G is using today, focusing on its core products and distinctive capabilities to serve those high end segments. P G also faces competition from Wal Mart s private brands. The retailer has been very aggressive in recent years in offering private brands. (Cravens Piercy, 2013) Creation of outstanding customer demand for the firm s products, and the generation of sales through other retailers require the following actions: Strengthening core premium, biggest and most profitable brands such as Pampers, Crest and Head Shoulders. He was inspired by Gustave Courbet s realism and how he approached modernism with the working class like his piece The Stone Breakers. He also wanted to rise to a challenge from an argument made in Charles Baudelaire s essay The Painter of Modern Life to be painters of contemporary manners . . . using both modern subjects and new approaches to seeing and representing the visual world. He often painted controversial pieces like Le Déjeuner Sur L Herbe (The Luncheon on the Grass) and Olympia to shock the bourgeoisie with subject matters that were considered immoral to the art world showing the reality of society during that time. While painting this, he was incredibly ill with syphilis thus A Bar at the Folies Bergère was his last major piece to be completed and hung in the Salon. Just like his major pieces, he is also demonstrating modernism by having a working barmaid at the Folies Bergère as the focal point of the piece (Fig. 1). Unlike his piece Olympia, Manet painted the barmaid with softer strokes instead of intense lining of the body, yet she still has that pale tone with some pinkness in her cheeks. Heathcliff, Edgar Linton, and Catherine Earnshaw are the three characters in which their settings reflect their personalities, and therefore create their physical and moral traits. When first introduced to Heathcliff in the novel, he lacked hospitality and comfort towards Lockwood when he had come to visit him as a guest. Heathcliff, for the beginning parts of his life, stood in a lower social class than the people he lived around, and therefore created a dark attitude towards others out of anger and jealousy. His dark and evil traits are connected to landscape around his house, Wuthering Heights, for they have the same characteristics as Heathcliff. The landscape that surrounds the house can be described as rugged, and it is exposed to extreme weather elements that reflect Heathcliff s emotions and traits. While away, people will inevitably attempt to steal your possessions, seduce your spouse, and act as though you will never return. Most likely, more people will try to harm your estate than those who will continue working and behaving in an honest manner. This notion holds true in Homer s epic poem, The Odyssey. While Odysseus wages war and struggles to return to Ithaka , a multitude of suitors court his wife and live at the cost of his possessions. When everyone else had finished dinner and went to bed for the evening, Eumaios took a sharpened lance, and went to rest / under a hollow rock where swine were sleeping (14.629 30). Homer uses this as an opportunity to show that Eumaios truly treasured his swine; instead of sleeping like the others, he ventures out into the cold to watch over the vulnerable swine. Delving into this trope in his book, IS THE AMERICAN CENTURY OVER?, Joseph S. In structuring his argument, Nye first analyzes Europe, Japan, Brazil, and India and their potential role in challenging America s ability to maintain an international order. Even if China were to overcome its domestic problems, which would translate to an increase in Chinese economic power, a preponderant role for China in the world economy would not equate to a Chinese hegemony. It s political and military actions would still have to account for the United States. Through dissecting how any economic advantage China has over America is negligible, as it comes at a price for it as well, Nye makes the argument that interdependence constrains China into working with America in maintaining the international order, rather than working against it. As the United States derives power from the dollar, much has been said about China s massive holding of dollars, and how it could potentially use it as a bargaining chip in its relationship with the United States. The equilibrium shift could be identified by the colors of the solution. In the tray 5 experiment, the reactant was pink and the product was a dark blue color. After stressing the equilibrium, a pink color indicated that the equilibrium was shifted to the left, and a blue color indicated that the equilibrium was shifted to the right. The stresses that were studied in this experiment were changes in the temperature of the system and changes in concentrations of reactants or products. Le Chatelier s Principle states that when an equilibrium system is subject to a stress, the system responds by attaining a new equilibrium condition that minimizes the imposed stress. The main stresses on an equilibrium system are changes in concentration of the reactants or products, changes in temperature, and changes in pressure or volume for gaseous equilibria. The stress will either not cause a shift in equilibrium or will cause the system to shift left of right in order to establish an equilibrium. Adding or removing a pure solid or liquid does not change the concentration; therefore, it does not affect equilibrium. Only aqueous solutions and gases affect equilibrium. Increasing the concentration of the reactants will cause a shift to the right. Decreasing the concentration of the products also has the same effect. Decreasing the ... The History Of Nuclear Fission On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped an Atomic Bomb over the City of Hiroshima in Japan, decimating the city, and killing around 140,000 people within months of the explosion. 3 days later, the US dropped a second bomb over the city of Nagasaki in Japan, killing roughly 80,000 people. The second World War had been going on for 7 years, the Germans had surrendered but the Japanese had yet to do so. So the United States created and atomic bomb in a program called the Manhattan project in order to force the Japanese to surrender. Although the atomic bomb ravaged the environment around where it was detonated and would continue to have an impact on the wildlife for many decades to come, it was an extreme advantage in the game of war. With the development of the atomic bomb, the US was able to kill a larger area of people then with normal TNT and missile strikes, and from the areas not directly affected from the blast it would still devastate civilizations in the form of cancer, which was a result of the immense radiation emitted from the reaction. It forced the opposing sides to change their military strategies, and it cause this fear in all the country s that they might be the ones whose country get a bomb dropped on next. There was a feeling of uneasiness and fear in the US s enemies (Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, 2009). Because of the creation of the atomic bomb, countries were now able to harm their opponents without endangering the lives of their own soldiers. In 1955 the US created the first nuclear submarine (USS Nautilus) which was a submarine that could function without refueling through the use of nuclear energy and nuclear reactors (Bamburg, n.d.). It is only in the sixth episode that she finds out that Tate is not in fact alive: he was shot and killed in 1994 by police following his murder of 15 students at his high school. A narratively complex show thus rejects the episodic convention of a return to the original status quo at the end of each episode, as one might see in an episode of Friends. Problems are often left unresolved to be expanded upon in future episodes. Narrative complexity is thus cumulative and unconventional: it is a combination of episodic closure and serial accumulation, and employs new and engaging narratives and forms of storytelling (Jackson). Of the many ways to achieve narrative complexity, Mittell discusses operational aesthetic, which can best be described as something similar to special effects. Operational aesthetic is augmented in certain moments within a narratively complex program. That being said, complex television employs something called the narrative special effect, which is when a program makes use of certain storytelling tools, to engage the viewer (Mittell 43). It is by way of the narrative special effect that the media makers attempt to foster engagement in audiences by planting clues, and this can be achieved through, for example, shifts in perspective or time, dreams or fantasy sequences, and the absence of clear storytelling cues. The result is that audiences focus and speculate on form and structure in addition to content (Jackson). As a narratively complex program, AHS: Murder House makes use of narrative special effects to drive its storyline and to develop its characters. Episodes start in different time periods, and characters are often ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Overpopulation Is A Global Catastrophe Naturally, as our population grows in size our growth rate increases exponentially. As a result, we face the issue of overpopulation, one of the many dangerous trends discussed in Anthony Barnosky and Elizabeth Hadly s Tipping Point for Planet Earth. Currently, if we do not make any changes, it is expected that we will reach a population size over twenty seven billion people by the year 2100. Along with this massive increase in population size, we will also face a rise in food and water shortages, an increase in population density, and an overall loss of quality of life. In order to prevent these potential effects, Barnosky and Hadly suggested three possible solutions to combating overpopulation a global catastrophe, a one child policy, or an increase in education, job, and contraception availability among girls. Any one of these solutions will potentially help us prevent overpopulation; however, exactly which solution it ends up being all depends on our preparation and the actions we take now. Ideally, we would like to avoid a global catastrophe that would decimate the population. But, if we are unable to lower our growth rate another world war, or something like a pandemic could occur. While no correlation between population density and nation level conflict has been made, the connection between overcrowding and increased internal conflict has been (Tir 1998). Thus, it would be preferable to take advantage of the other solutions like the one child policy that China ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Liberalism as an ideology revolves around the idea of freedom for the individual. The reason for this is due to the liberal s view of human nature; they see the human being as unique and rational; able to make decisions in their best interest. Although all liberals agree on individual freedom, when it comes to the role of the state they are split down the middle. On one side there are the classic liberals who believe in as little state intervention as possible, and on the other side there is the modern liberals who believe state intervention is necessary as it can develop people and create equal opportunity. When looking at a liberal view of the state it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In classic liberals eyes, true freedom is that when the individual is left completely to their own desire, at best the state can be seen as a necessary evil , or as Jefferson summed up, Government is best when governed least . On the other hand there are the modern liberals, who in contrast, have advanced a developmental form of individualism that prioritises human flourishing over the quest for interest satisfaction. This idea says that people can be developed in order to become the best person they can be. In contrast to classic liberals, modern liberals follow positive freedom. This was an idea proposed by Green in the late nineteenth centaury; it recognizes that liberty may also be threatened by social disadvantage and inequality. This, in turn, implied a revised view of the state. By protecting individuals from the social evils that threaten to limit their lives, the state can expand freedom, and not merely diminish it. In the place of the old minimal state, modern liberals have devised a new enabling state , exercising an increasingly wide range of social and economic responsibilities. Therefore modern liberals differ from the classic liberal in terms of the individual, as the classics believe the state restricts and limits individual freedom, whereas modern liberals see the state as enabling and protective, and can therefore boost levels of individual freedom ... Causes Of The American Revolution The Antagonizing British American Revolution: The Antagonizing British The American Revolution had initiated due to chain reaction events caused by the British that infuriated the colonists. Many of the colonist felt that the British were violating their constitutional rights, so the colonist eventually fought back. The three major events that led up to the American Revolution where the French and Indian War, Intolerable Acts, and the Battle of Lexington and Concord. The British fueled the American Revolution by limiting colonist s expansion, violating their rights, invading U.S. soil. All three of these events against the colonists came together like a puzzle to start the American Revolution War. The French and Indian War started in 1754 and it was a war between the French with United States help against the Indians with Britain s help. The war was fought in North America, eventually the British won the war and French was kicked out of the North America territory. The British were able to gain a substantial amount of land from the colonists although they suffered some repercussions. The war had been enormously expensive, and the British government s attempts to impose taxes on colonists to help cover these expenses resulted in increasing colonial resentment of British attempts to expand imperial authority in the colonies. • 45. My Favorite Quote Analysis My favorite quote will always be by Sappho in which she says, Someone, I tell you, in another time will remember us. She was right. She s remembered for being a gay poet and is immortalized despite a lot of her works not being found completely. It s one of my favorite quotes because identifying as a nonbinary queer person who also likes girls, I can relate to Sappho a lot when she writes about her desire for love and personal heartbreaks. This quote also brings me ease as even in another time someone will still remember me. I think we all want to leave a legacy of some sort, and for me I want my legacy to be centered around my experience and accomplishments as an American born Punjabi artist and social activist, who was also highly active in the LGBTQ+ community. I want someone to remember me because it is a vicious cycle that people of color and members of the color in the LGBTQ+ community get forgotten in history. History is white washed. But the idea that I will do enough in my life to be remembered in some shape or form, reminds me that my efforts and failures as a Punjabi artist and social activist are just part of a legacy I am starting. Moving on, my strength and determination did not magically appear one day. I had a lot of amazing people who are a part of my support network who helped show me what healthy self love and growth is supposed to be. One of the people I will be highlighting is my AP English teacher. Candice Ligator, was one of the best, and one of my favorite teachers in my high school career. She was a big part of my support system when it came to being a trans and queer student who had a lot of family issues. She was also a big inspiration to me as she told us stories full of struggles growing as a teacher. She talked about how starting off as a teacher at first made her cry every night, showing me that it takes persistence to be adept in a profession. Her choices on the pieces of literature she taught were engaging as they touched upon feminism, gay rights, and race. This allowed me to explore both my interest in writing and in social justice. Reading about personal experiences from Mary Shelley, Oscar Wilde, and Ralph Ellison was inspiring as it allowed me to see that I can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He lived with his uncle for some time but before long his uncle was killed in the streets over a dispute. Forrest then rode out in search of those who killed his uncle, hunted them down and killed two of the murders. At the break out of the American Civil War Forrest who sided with the confederacy, was quite a wealthy man owning his own plantation with slaves. Forrest brought along 45 slaves. They fought just as any other soldier in the Confederate army. This always interested me that General Forrest placed his men together both black and white and they were all one body of men united, while the Union army had segregated units for African Americans. On the field of battle Forrest was a magnificent fighter, and a very Tactical Commander. He fought in battles like Shiloh in Chickamauga. Here is the crazy part about General Nathan Bedford Forrest when he served as a general in the Confederate Army. There was the American claim of fighting for freedom and democracy and the Soviet claims of fighting for the interests of the workers and the common people. • 50. The Little Albert Experiment Of Classical Conditioning The Little Albert Experiment In 1920, behaviorist John B. Watson and his graduate student Rosalie Rayner wanted to study classical conditioning in people. Classical conditioning is when two stimuli are paired and produce an effect off of the second stimulus, but eventually produce the same effect with the first stimulus individually. Watson believed they were capable of furthering psychologist Ivan Pavlov s research on conditioning dogs to conditioning humans. Watson was a professor at John Hopkins University and of course, that was Rayner s alma mater. Watson wanted to justify that emotions were something learned and not inherently placed in the human mind. According to Alexander Burgemeester, Watson hypothesized that although it was uncommon for a baby to have a phobia of animals, if one animal succeeds in arousing fear, any moving furry animal thereafter may arouse it (Burgemeester). Both, Watson and Rayner fed off of scientist Ivan Pavlov s classical conditioning experiment. Ivan Pavlov was a Russian scientist who is famously known for his classical conditioning experiment on dogs, better known as Pavlov s Dogs. Pavlov originated classical conditioning unintentionally (McLeod). His experiment consisted of a dog, its saliva glands, dog food, and a bell. Pavlov noticed that dogs had natural reflexes and wanted to point out that they did not need to be taught certain things (McLeod). The dog s saliva glands were the main implements while conducting this experiment. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
