Race in A Different Mirror’ by Ronald Takaki
In the first Chapter of the book A Different Mirror by (Takaki, 1993) the author embarks on a
descriptive narrative that tries to elaborate the concept of a multiracial America. The chapter begins
with the author taking a taxi ride in which he is subjected to racial discrimination. The taxi driver
questions the author s origin owing to the fact that his English is perfect and eloquent. This incident
prompts a discussion that transpires throughout the chapter as the author tries to explain to his
audience that America is a multiracial country with different ethnic groups that moved from their
homelands to settle in the United States. The chapter discusses the settlement of various racial
groups such as; English immigrants, African... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first theme proclaims the royal monarchy by presenting the individual authority held by both
the King and the queen. King Ferdinand of Aragon is established as the ruling authority of the
Spanish kingdom. His daughter Queen Juana is presented as the ruler of the two regions of Castile
and Leon. God is recognized as the supreme creator of both the heavens and the earth. The origin of
man is explained through the creation of Adam and Eve, whom are the original ancestors that all
men and women descended from. The author then tries to explain the events that led to the
formation of kingdoms, which is attributed to the fact that a single kingdom could not be sustained.
This resulted in the division of mankind into various kingdoms.
The second theme elaborates the transition of power from God to the monarchs. This transition
occurs through an intermediate institution that transfers divine power through religious
mechanisms onto a political leadership. Divine power form God is transferred onto the Papacy
that is given supreme authority and dominion over all men. St Peter is the first pope whose
kingdom is centered in Rome form where he rules over all men: Gentiles, Jews, Christians and
any other religious groups. The Papal lineage is established as the supreme power structure and
all Popes that descend from St Peter are treated with the same respect and proclaimed as lord and
king. One such pope is responsible for donating the lands of the Americas onto the King and

How McCabe and Mrs Miller and Blade Runner Subvert Their Genres and Defy Audience
Expectations
Two genres which have always been Hollywood staples are science fiction and the western. The
genres can be seen in films made as early as Le Voyage Dans la lune (Georges Melies 1902) and
The Great Train Robbery (Edwin S. Porter 1903). On the surface the two genres are very different,
however if one looks closely at them they are similar in many ways. Both genres usually feature
uncharted frontiers, strong silent protagonists, frightening savages (played by either space aliens
or Native Americans) and damsels in distress. The formula for these two genres was established
many decades ago and in recent years it takes a film that defies and ... Show more content on

One important change from traditional western is the cold, the film is set in winter in a cold
climate and Beatty goes around bundled up like a bear in a thick fur coat. The viewer can
almost feel the wind whipping through the poorly built houses and the residents shivering.
Altman features the snow and the weather prominently in his film, this is in stark contrast to a
traditional western which takes place in a warm state and in which the climate is rarely an
issue. Another difference is the way in which Altman peoples his film with realistic characters
whose flaws he makes clear to the audience. This is not an idealized west peopled by beautiful
looking movie stars, even Beatty, sporting a thick beard, and Christie are willing to look less
attractive than usual for their parts. The people who live in Altman s West have had difficult
lives. They have poor hygiene and poor social skills. These realistic characters include the
workers McCabe uses to build his whorehouse as well as the whores he first brings to town, while
Altman treats these people sympathetically and their appearance and actions are realistic it is clear
that they are not prime examples of human beauty, intelligence and cleanliness. This use of
realistic characters is not always the case in idealized westerns such as High Noon (Fred Zinneman
1952) starring the movie star lawman Gary Cooper (Will

Cold War Era Movie Assignment
Cold War Era Movie Assignment
The movie/TV clips that we watched in class were all made between the years 1954 and 1964.
World War II and The Cold War between The Soviet Union and the United States became the
subject of many TV shows and movies of the time period. The paranoia and fear of communism
and nuclear war was very real in the 1950 s/1960 s and it shaped the cultures of both the United
States and the Soviet Union.
You will be asked questions not only about the clips you will view but how they relate to World
War II and The Cold War. You must use the historical events and facts that we have covered in
class in your answers.
Guiding Question:
What do you think the attitude of Americans was towards Germans and Russians during this period
of time? How did movies and television affect their opinions?
Gojira (Godzilla) 1954 and Them! (1954)
1)What is the Japanese film Gojira trying to warn the world about? What happened in 1945 that
influenced this film?
The Japanese film Gojira was made in the early 1950 s, shortly after WW2 and the 2 atomic
bombs dropped on Japan. The nuclear bombs American forces dropped on Hiroshima and
Nagasaki left a sore spot in Japanese society. It reminded and allowed Japanese citizens to relive
the horrible horrors that occurred after the blast.
2)What do you think the Japanese opinion of nuclear war was in the aftermath of World War II?
Why?
Japanese citizens were not too keen as they had witnessed the devastating power a nuclear

Uber Insurance Case
This industry has already started expanding their business more than just ride sharing
application they have gone into electric driving. One of the CEOs Travis Kalanick of this
business said it will be intense, but it is only for expanding the company on making more profit
(Felton). In Ryan Felton article he stresses Uber overall problem is will their money last enough
to have a trucking and a driverless car. I believe that if Uber budgets their money right and avoid
lawsuits they can expand one part of the company at a time. Furthermore, adding in electric cars
and self driving vehicles this will make the drive probably faster. Uber will see a decrease in the
number of lawsuits that come in every year (Lim). This smart idea will come with... Show more

Uber website states that they provide liability insurance that covers any accident that occurs
from when the trip starts to the finish. Even if it was the other car fault and they do not have
proper insurance Uber covers everyone in the ridesharing vehicle. But the drivers are required to
still have auto insurance because of what that is what every state requires. In my academic
journal Jennie Davis expresses on the other hand, drivers are uncertain if Uber will cover them.
Also, that in certain cities they treat their policies differently and may not cover. But they feel
the customers are fully covered in any circumstance. Davis argues that this is really a
concerning factor, because drivers are riding around on their cell phones constantly. I agree this
is a big risk when it comes to keeping your eyes on the road. But Uber clearly states in their
policy that they cover both the passenger and the driver. It is the Uber company job to make it
more clear to their employees on the policy so they will not be driving around wondering if Uber
going to cover. Despite this big concern Uber business model still states that they cover everyone
in the car so drivers not overact and just read their policy on this

Introduction
Clinical trials are research based studies that are performed to determine whether a drug, device,
or medical procedure (depending on the stage of the study) is safe and effective. A complete set
of trials that would include all phases may cost hundreds of millions of dollars which is usually
paid for by a sponsor such as a government agency or a for profit company. Increasingly, clinical
trial activities are contracted out to service providers such as an academic medical center (AMC), a
contract research organization (CRO), or a physician s practice and this outsourcing requires
negotiation and execution of CTAs. Therefore, a clinical trial agreement (CTA) is required between
the sponsor and the organization to conduct the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may sound odd, but it is vital to ensure that the party is a legal entity. In addition, the corporate
identifier and address should appear in the agreement. The individual signing the agreement must be
an authorized representative of that organization who can legally bind it to perform the obligations
stated in the agreement. It is also important to identify the Investigator who is assigned to conduct
the study and whether the Investigator is an employee of the organization. Otherwise, the
Investigator may be considered party to the agreement whose personal obligations, as well as
liabilities, must be included in the agreement. Services: The agreement has to set forth the parties

important that the agreement clearly and succinctly reflects what each party will be responsible

In order to begin understanding Syria is important to take time to know the early history. For the
Syrians history represents the events that leaded to their identity, as they know it and the rest of
the world see it. Those past events shaped the interaction with its border neighbors and the rest of
the world today. Their patterns of life, how they educate citizens and practice of the religion that
has been pass generation to generation, has been portrayed on Syria s history.
From the earliest times until present, Syria has presented a connection between Turkey, Iraq,
Jordan, Israel and Lebanon by its geographical location. This made this country a strategic location
for substantial trades and to influence over the other regional civilizations in the past and present.

An in-Depth Analysis of the Use of Specific Musical...
The Romantic Era was a period of great change and emancipation. It moved away from strict laws
by allowing artistic freedom, experimentation and creativity. Romantic music evolved from ideas
established in earlier periods, such as the classical period, and went further through the use of
expression and passion. New musical concepts evolved due to current trends and the musicwas
deeply personal and nationalistic. Musical concepts including pitch, tone colour and dynamics and
expressive techniques each express the style of the Romantic period in differing ways. These
concepts are exemplified through Nocturne and Valse, both by Chopin.
Nocturne and Valse are both emotionally expressionistic pieces typical of the romantic era, written
by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the Nocturne is played with legato articulation, this creates more freedom and expression. The
Valse however, is played with Tempo Giusto. This means it is much more strict as it must be played
in exact time. This does not allow for variation, unlike the Nocturne, which is common with waltzes.
The smooth character of the Nocturne and Valse is also linked with the inclusion of sostenuto
articulation. The loud pedal creates an overlapping effect, which contributes to the nature of the
piece.
The type of layer relationship shown in both the Nocturne and Valse is homophonic. They consist
of a dominant melodic layer accompanied by subordinate harmonic layers.
Many composers of this time, reached for extremely high or low sounds. This was in search of
increased brilliance and depth in sound. Throughout the Nocturne the broken chords in the bass
span from relatively high to low pitch with the lowest note, an f, in bar 8 and the highest, an a#, in
bar 37. The treble experiences a similar type of pitch pattern, with notes ranging from mid pitch to
high pitch, which can be seen in bars 30 37 of the piece.
Romantic composers revelled in rich and sensuous sound, using tone colour to obtain variety of
mood and atmosphere. Never before had timbre been so important. Composers sought new ways of
blending and combining tone colours to achieve the most poignant and intense sound.
The Piano, the favourite instrument of the romantic age, was vastly

Your heart muscle mass requires oxygen to make it through. A cardiac arrestoccurs when the blood
circulation that brings oxygen to the heart muscle mass is significantly reduced or removed
entirely (View an animation of blood circulation). Due to the fact that coronary arteries that
supply the heart muscular tissue with blood flow could gradually end up being narrow from a
build up of fat, cholesterol as well as other elements that with each other are called cavity
enducing plaque, this occurs. This sluggish procedure is referred to as atherosclerosis. When a
plaque in a heart artery breaks, a blood clot forms around the oral plaque buildup. This blood clot
can obstruct the blood flow via the heart muscular tissue. When the heart muscle is starved for
oxygen and nutrients, it is called ischemia. When harm or fatality of part of the heart muscle
takes place as a result of ischemia, it is called a cardiac arrest or coronary infarction (MI).

Fairytales are stories that have some magical aspects. They usually tell a story about a castle and
times when kings ruled the land. I always loved the princesses in these stories. When I was

She is faced with troubles trying to prohibit her from her happy ending, of marrying the prince.
Another fairy tale that is very well liked is Little Red Riding Hood. In this story, Little Red Riding
Hood is on a quest to go to her grandmother s house. An evil wolf tricks her and ends up eating her
in the end. The readers of fairy tales have been using these stories as examples for their lives, since
the 18th century.
Since fairy tales set and example for real life situations, it is important to see the naivety of the
main character is a main reason why the evil enemies are able to take advantage of them so
effortlessly. In the fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty in the Wood , the princess curiosity captivates her
and she pricks her finger, on the spindle. The evil old fairy barely had to use her magic powers
on the girl. In Little Red Riding Hood , her curiosity of the grandma s different looks and
gullibility gets her close enough to the wolf for her to be eaten, in the end. Also, in the fairy tale
Blue Beard , the young wife wants to open the locked closet door. Her curiosity guides her to do so,
which leads her husband to put her in a dangerous situation and almost death. Therefore, it is
important to realize and understand the naivety of characters in the stories and their confrontations
with evil characters.
Fairy tales offer a solution to the problem faced in the story, with

The Horizontal World By Debra Marquart Summary
A State of Trickery: Debra Marquart s Response to the Upper Midwest
Debra Marquart, in The Horizontal World, takes the reader through her life in North Dakota,
travelling all the way back to between the years of 1885 and 1911 when her immigrant, Russian
grandparents, first arrived in America. Marquart, from a more modern point of view, feels like her
grandparents were deceived by a facade that enveloped the Midwest claiming that the area is not as
exciting as the media made it out to be. She uses intense diction to condemn the state, proves the
deceitful tendencies of the North Dakota through juxtaposition, and manipulates the pathos of the
reader by triggering sympathy for the incoming settlers.
Opening the excerpt, Marquart describes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately for Marquart s grandparents, North Dakota was not only disappointing in terms of
vividness, but it is also overvalued by the media. Entertainment describes a kind of false facade
in correspondence with North Dakota. This is a state where directors get their actors to be
blond, fresh faced and midwestern in order to make their descent into ruthless behavior in places
like Los Angeles and New York all the more tragic . Even the people already living there are so
monotone that film writers make characters midwestern for shock value. Because everyone
knows how boring the people are in North Dakota, when characters in entertainment begin to
meet their downfall, it is actually seen as a surprise, as if everyone in North Dakota are idols.
By juxtaposing midwestern women with the adventurous cities of New York and Los Angeles,
Marquart successful shows the contrast of the secluded and undesired area of North Dakota.
Marquart shows the difference between the point of view of Keillor s Lake Wobegon, from A
Prairie Home Companion, where all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all
the children are above average and the film Fargo, the macabre land of murder by wood chipper .
Although the two stories make North Dakota seem like an attractive, exciting place, unfortunately,
these two tales are just myths nothing more. The real North Dakota claims to have easy inclines
and farmable plains , yet an official surveyor,

Profitability
Financial ratios reflects the level of the company s profit relative to sales (Titan, 2012, p. 151). In
other words, this is a company s capability of generating profits from its operations. Profitability is
one of four building blocks for analysing financial statements and company performance as a whole.
The balance sheet contains assets that the business owns and which is used in the business for the
purpose of generating profit (Jessop, 2017). See Appendix A, figure II. To determine profitability

Among the great writers of colonial Peru, Guaman Poma stands alone. His First New Chronicle
and Good Government, a massive manuscript only recently rediscovered after nearly 300 years, is a
unique work that walks the often thin line between text and graphic, Spanish and Quechua, and
history and rhetoric. Guaman Poma s goal in writing his First New Chronicle was twofold: to
secure a future for Andean nobility, and a future for Andean customs. These purposes were at odds
with each other. On the one hand, securing power for Andean nobles like himself meant presenting
Andeans to the Spanish as colonized Catholics capable of self autonomy, while on the other,
preserving Andean customs meant preserving religious traditions that were at odds with... Show

from his home (Coronel Molina xiii). Under the shadow of this disillusionment, he wrote his
masterpiece The First New Chronicle, as an outcry against the Spanish, and an argument in the
fight for Andean resurgence. From his unique vantage point as a cultural mestizo, he criticized
both the colonial Spanish and the Incas, whom he also considered to be colonizers of Andean
tribes such as his own. Yet as a biological Andean, he also criticized mestizos, advocating instead
for Andean rule of colonial Peru. The First New Chronicle advances this purpose explicitly. A
massive tome over one thousand pages long, it chronicles the history of the Andean people from
ancient times to 1615 AD. Guaman Poma designed the work to be accessible to Spanish readers,
placing the Andean timeline in parallel with the traditional timeline of Europe, thus also
emphasizing the similarity of European traditions to those of the

Quiz On Human Diversity
Sorry everyone for being late! Since Tuesday, an Internet outage with AT@T occurred until early
Saturday morning. I was able to take the quiz before problems became worse. The quiz on human
diversity was very intriguing in a way that educated me more on understanding race and
similarities. Even though I did pretty well on the quiz, I did answer a few questions incorrectly. In
order for me to understand the questions answered wrong, I did a little more research and found a
lot of information that I was unaware of. Like many other students who mentioned in their
discussion post, I assumed that certain regions possessed a variety of skin color due to
environmental changes, but in all honesty, no one really knows. Another part of the quiz

Asoka: The Enlightened Ruler
Intro: To begin with Asoka has shown good depth into his community and personality, because of
this he is an enlightened ruler. He himself has made many mistakes but fixed them on the journey
of life. For example, he was responsible for many deaths but he showed remorse throughout the
community. Then he spread Buddhism throughout the community. The acts of Asoka showing
remorse, helping his communities, and spreading the Buddha teachings, was clear that Asoka was
an enlightened ruler.
Paragraph 2: Secondly, he showed remorse for what he did in the war of Kalinga. Asoka is
responsible for many death so many people thought he was a ruthless conqueror for endangering
innocent civilians and soldiers. After all the war of Kalinga killed 200,000 people. Also, When
the war in Kalinga was over ... and the people conquered, he felt inside him a great crisis, a

How Youth Online Culture Is Perceived
How Youth Online Culture Is Perceived
The impact of online culture on youth is hugely significant in today s society. Youth of today, all
around the world, have grown up in the midst of rapid technological development. It now plays a
part in the social, work, leisure, and private spheres of people s lives. Adults perceive youth
interactions online as negative, harming their ability to develop and function in the adult world.
Youth perceive their involvement in online culture quite differently, seeing it as a way to keep
socially connected, express themselves, and participate in society. Youth do not need to change
their behaviours to suit adult s perceptions, but rather, adults and youth need to be more
understanding of the other s views.
Adult concepts regarding youth online culture are mostly negative and result from the moral panic
of current society promoted by the media. Gray s blog article (2014) draws attention to and
challenges stereotypical views that adults hold about youth online. Firstly, that youth are simply
wasting time on the internet when they could be doing school work, going out, or being active.
Secondly, that it is socially isolating, preventing youth from going out and physically interacting
with peers in person. Thirdly, that youth do not understand the concepts of privacy and safety
online and that they will inevitably regret sharing some information, once they have reached
adulthood. It is also argued that youth should adjust their behaviours to

Meatloaf For My Family Research Paper
I do not cook very much but I have learned to cook meatloaf for my family and they love it!
I make a trip to the store to get the items that I need and once I am back home I begin to prepare
my meatloaf by mixing the main ingredients in a large bowl and that includes: hamburger meat,
milk, bread and/or crackers, and a few eggs. This helps hold the meat together and to keep it moist.
I prefer to crumble up fresh bread pieces myself.
Make sure to get some hamburger meat that has some fat in it so that your meatloaf isn t too dry.
I dice up some onions, carrots and peppers to put in my meatloaf to give it more flavor and to also
help to keep it moist. You can cook them before adding them if you want
I place aluminum foil in a medium Pyrex glass bowl and input my mixture into this and make it
into a loaf. The actual best pans is the pans that are an actual loaf and used only for meatloaf.

Aristotle Soul Of Tragedy Analysis
For Aristotle, the unity of temporality guarantees the unity of the plot s action. The dramatic
action, being the mimesis of representation, demands a certain magnitude to expand the
temporality of the plot, a length which allows of the hero passing by a series of probable of
necessary stages from bad fortune to good, or from good to bad, may suffice as a limit for
magnitude of a story (Aristotle, 1450b45) Aristotle uses the subject of the Odyssey as an example
of a tragic plotwhich encompasses the coherent totality of unity of time and unity of action,
Homer, in writing an Odyssey, he did not make the poem cover all that ever befell his hero it
befell him (Aristotle, 1451a25). Plot is the soul of tragedythat forms meaning necessary to make
sense of human action for the spectacle (L3, Aristotle Tragedy). Thus, the spectator is able to
reason and make probable through the mimesis of action contain in the plots soul of tragedy.
Reversal, recognition, and suffering are elements that encompass the soul of tragedy the plot. The
dramatic plot, the soul of tragedy, is a, whole that that which has a beginning, middle, and end
(Aristotle, 1451a19). According to Aristotle, a good poet often stretched out beyond its capabilities,
and is thus obliged to twist the sequence of incident (Aristotle, 1451b37). With this, he believes that
the reversal is the change in fortune, described from one state of things within the play to its
opposite, and that too as we say, the

The Police Powers of Search, Arrest, and Interrogation Essay
The Powers of Police
Individuals have civil rights; people are entitled to be allowed to move freely and to have their
person and their property respected. However the police must have sufficient powers to investigate
crimes. Therefore Parliament has given the police special powers that can be used in certain
circumstances. These powers include the rights to stop and search suspects, to arrest and interview
people when necessary and to take fingerprints and samples (blood samples) for scientific analysis.
Without the police having these certain powers then it would be nearly impossible to investigate
any crimes. But it is also important for the police to remember that, at the same time, they ... Show

To use this power under PACE the police officer must have reasonable grounds for suspecting that
the person is in possession of or the vehicle contains stolen goods or prohibited articles, such as
items of offensive weapons, and articles for use in connection with burglary or theft.
As these powers are very wide there are safeguards in that the police officer must give his name
and station and the reason for the search. If he or she fails to give reason for the search, then the
search is unlawful. This was shown in the case of Osman v DPP 1999, where the officers did not
give their names and station. The Queens Bench Divisional Court held that this made a search of
Mr. Osman unlawful and so he could not be guilty of assaulting the police in the execution of their
duty.
If the search is in public, the police can only request that the suspect removes his or her outer coat,
jacket and gloves.
The code of practice A contains details and guidance on when these powers should be used. In
particular it stresses that police officers must not act just because of a person s characteristics.
Paragraph 1.7 of code A says:
Reasonable suspicion can never be supported on the basis of personal factors alone. For example,
a person s colour, age, hairstyle or manner

Cruelty, By Stanley Milgram
Mohammad Asif Mohammad Prof: S.Bridges Essay 5 April 19, 2016 Cruelty The amount of
cruelty one possess varies individually depending on the situations an individual has experienced
throughout their life. This is why Milgram received such shocking results in his obedience
experiment and why only a few reacted in Darley and Latane s studies. Although cruelty is within
from birth, the test subjects in Milgram s, Darley and Latane s experiment had no intentions of
being cruel because they believed they were simply following orders and still fighting a personal
conflict which is to respond or not to a situation, while still conforming to the norms of social
etiquette. Cruelty is something that is innate. It is not something we learn but rather something that
is nurtured into existence. Individually, cruelty levels differ from one to another as each being
may have experienced different situations causing them to react differently. In the experiment
conducted by Stanley Milgram, a psychologist who wanted to test the level of cruelty a normal
citizen would go to when instructed by a person of authority. He brought in many different people
as the test subjects and as we see from the results how each persons obedience to inflict pain on
someone else differed amongst the subjects, we understand this is the results of their cruelty that is
within. This experiment was set up in a room where there was a teacher who was the test subject

Craft Of Memo Writing
The recommendations from the readings on memo writing share many similarities and some
differences that are beneficial, but depend on the type of memo being created. For example all the
readings agree on the importance of using evidence to fortify arguments and recommendations to
the receiver of the memo. In The Craft of Memo Writing by Robert Behn, he writes that the author
of a memo must ask themselves if their sentences makes sense, and if they are addressing the flaws
in the core idea, of their argument. Behn argues that evidence is needed to create an effective policy
memo that is convincing since evidence supports the logic of the arguments, thus making it
conceivable. Marie Danziger agrees with Behn, by arguing that a person must... Show more content

It can tell you how to get them, and help you make buying decisions that are hard. (Anderson 48)
Titus continues his thought by explaining how: Everything we think and feel is taken in by the
corporations, mainly by data ones like Feedlink and OnFeed and American Feedware, and they
make a special profile, one that s keyed just to you...so all you have to do is want something and

All I saw were ambulance lights shining in every direction. It was like the world was dark and

Three Weeks Before
I pulled my beanie down even further down my head, the cold winter breeze hitting me like a ton

Analysis Of James Baldwin s Sonny s Blues
James Baldwin was raised in poverty in Harlem where, at the age of fourteen, he became a
preacher in the Fireside Pentecostal Church. After high school he decided to become a writer
and with the help of the black American expatriate writer Richard Wright, won a grant that
enabled him to move to Paris, where he lived most of his remaining years. He wrote a variety of
novels mostly about the intellectual trials of black men in a white, racist society and homosexual
themes. James Baldwin wrote Sonny s Blues which was about the experiences he had with Sonny
and he also learned many new things from both of his parents. The intended audience is towards
people giving their loved ones a second chance. Sonny goes through addiction, he recovers from it
and he tries to change his life around.
James Baldwin uses darkness and light multiple times throughout this writing. Darkness and light
is used as a motif in Sonny s Blues. A motif is a recurring pattern used in writing that means
something. Darkness and light represent the good times and bad times. Light is the positive and
darkness is the negative aspects of life. In the beginning of the story James Baldwin writes about
not seeing Sonny in a while and starts to think about him while he is teaching. I stared at it in the
swinging lights of the subway car, and in the faces and bodies of the people, and in my own face,
trapped in the darkness which roared outside. This quote describes the way he feels about the city

The Trojan War
In the beginning of the semester, I believed that I knew most of the history of the Trojan War. I
knew that members of the Greek army hid inside of a wooden horse an attacked the Trojans
inside of their walls. Before taking this class, I thought the movie Troy was an accurate account of
the war. I also had no idea that the Gods had a large role in the Iliad. I was shocked to learn that the
majority of the history of the Trojan Warinvolves the Gods. In my opinion, it seems very
unbelievable. According to homer, people believed in Zeus, Hades, Apollo, Poseidon, and the
other Gods. Something I don t understand is how people actually believe homers account of the
Trojan War. The Iliad had so many parts where the Gods were directly involved the war between
the Trojans and the Greeks. Almost none of Homers accounts of the Gods were mentioned in the
movie because the history the Trojan War wound sound less believable. The Iliad and the movie
Troy have similar content. When I read the Iliad and watched the movie, the movie sounds more
believable then the Iliad. Toward the beginning of the Iliad a conversation between Achilles, Tetis
and Zeus was not mentioned the movie. Probably because most people would automatically

Essay On Smitten Ice Cream
I doubt that you have taste buds. The rather offensive comment was what my friend heard from a
stranger who overheard our conversation at Patricia s Green in Hayes Valley. My friend just
admitted that he was not a huge fan of Smitten Ice Cream, a local nitrogen ice cream shop located
in San Francisco. It was almost unacceptable not to be in love with such rich and creamy thing
nitrogen icecream often referred as revolution of ice cream among San Franciscans. I loved
living in Hayes Valley because it had Smitten. On the weekends, I would go to the ice cream
place converted from an old shipping container. What was special about Smitten is that it has a
viewing area for customers to enjoy watching their orders being prepared with fog oozing out like
in a chemistry experiment. The secret of Smitten lies with that fog of liquid nitrogen. Smitten
always had four flavors: Classic Vanilla and TCHO chocolate were the fixed. The other two
depended on the ingredients they had that day. Besides Brown sugar with cinnamon shortcake ,

Ice cream is rather a complex mixture of different particles interacting with each other to create
unique properties of the food. The first component ice crystals are formed when water in ice
cream base freezes. The key to make smooth ice cream is to prevent ice crystals to form in big
size during freezing. Rapid freezing and constant churning of base lead water contents to form
many minute sized crystals. The texture of ice cream with many smaller ice crystals is better
than that with fewer big crystals. Also, by reducing the amount of water in the base that will be
formed into ice crystals by increasing other ingredients such as milk fat, sugar and other solids can
be a way. However, while normally water takes up 60% of ice cream base, more than 47% of the
total solids will give heavy and chewy

Supreme Court Packing Scandal
NPR s legal affairs correspondent, Nina Totenberg, described a horrible political storm brewing
over the Supreme Court of the United States ( CNN, 2016, p. 1). While reporting for CNN,
Totenberg used these words to draw attention to the untimely death of Justice Antonin Scalia in an
era of modern politics in which the court has become more polarized than ever. The Supreme
Court, the highest court of the land, is not only being severely impacted by partisan ties, but is now
also deciding cases according to these biased beliefs. The Democratic and Republican parties, after
corrupting and encroaching upon the federal judiciary, have made court nominations and rulings
into a game of party politics, inevitably destroying the impartiality of the... Show more content on

They allude to the unanimous 9 0 decisions the Supreme Court has made as a strong indication
that the court remains neutral. Chief Justice Roberts also recently stated at a Boston law school:
We don t work as Democrats or Republicans (Savage, 2016, p. 1). Moreover, Justice Scalia, when
defending his conservative vote in a 5 4 ruling, claimed: I prefer not to take part in the
assembling of an apparent but specious unanimity (Kuhn, 2014, p. 3). However, decisions
become unanimous only when the ideological stakes are not large enough. As for extremely
controversial topics, nearly every single recent 5 4 decision has been divided perfectly along
ideological lines. The conservative majority, praised by Republicans, has unbelievably struck
down major parts of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, upheld an individual s right to own guns, and
has allowed unlimited corporate spending in campaigns (Kuhn, 2014). These types of decisions
have caused the divided Supreme Court that we have today. Looking at a more psychological and
scientific perspective on this overall issue, an investigation by Anna Harvey and Michael J.
Woodruff of the New York University found that the direction of decision and vote of the Supreme
Court is frequently contaminated by confirmation bias; justices seeking out facts and reasoning that

My First Day In High School
Today is August 10th, 2065 and it is my first day of Year 6 and I am only 9 years old. I sighed as
I finished speaking for the online journal and I watched the spoken words turn to typed words on
the holographic screen. I closed my eyes and put my head in the palm of my pale hand as I
closed up the journal, unable to think of anything else to write at the moment. After a few more
seconds of just sitting at the desk, I decided I could just finish writing later, so, I decided to get
ready for my final year at the Skill School.
Skill School is the first school all kids are enrolled in. Everyone starts at age 5 and typically leaves
at age 11 to go to one of four secondary schools: Offense, Defense, Agriculture, or Health. Or if you
aren t skilled enough to make it to one of those schools you got placed in the fifth, inferior school,
the Other School. I started school at age 5, just like every other normal kid does. I went through
Years 1, 2, and 3 but last year I got a letter during our break saying I was being bumped to Year 6 at
barely 9 years old.
My heart raced along in time with my thoughts about the day. If I was being honest, I was feeling
rather nervous and..scared I guess, though, scared doesn t really cover exactly how I m feeling. It
s like I m scared and nervous and excited and so many other things and I just couldn t explain it. It
was the strangest I had felt since my actual first day in Year 1.

Marriage In Pride And Prejudice Essay
Introduction Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice wasn t alike any other Romantic or Gothic novels
written at the time, it was the first novel to porttrait real characters and everyday life. Jane doesn t
display much evidence of the Romantic movement in her works and she is the only author that
seems to be untouched by the political, intellectial and artistic revolutions of her time. As Rebecca
West stated Austen s novels contain no mention of the Napoleonic wars because she had nothing to
say about them
From the 16 to the 19th century, the richest people in England were those who owned most of the
land. The land was rented to tenants for farming and the landowning families lived entirely off of

Bennet and her relations have already acquired a higher social status by the marriage with Mr.
Bennet and this status is only to become higher with the marriages of Elizabeth and Jane.
Elizabeth, who is a daughter of an aristocratic gentleman and mother from the middle class, at
the end marries to one of the wealthiest aristocrats in England. Elizabeth s marriage to Mr.
Darcy is one of the greatest match in Austen s novels. Until the very end of the story it is nearly
impossible for Eliza to think of marrying Darcy because of the great social distance between their
families. It is equally difficult for Darcy to think of marrying her. When Darcy proposes to
Elizabeth, he says that the reason why he hardly admitted his feelings towards her was the
distinction between the classes they belonged to. There are different views on the extent of social
difference between them. In Lady Catherine s eyes Elizabeth is a nobody, with upstart pretensions ,
a woman shrewdly on the make, who will pollute the shades of Pemberley . Elizabeth herself,
however, is not overwhelmed by the social difference. He is a gentleman; I am a gentleman s
daughter; so far we are equal , she claims calmly. (Coperland et al. 1997). She demonstrates that
marriage should be a choice made for love by allowing Elizabeth to remain in the power of choice
even in spite of social pressures. Austen shows the good effects of a marriage based on love and
the positive effects, which can come from it.
As mentioned above, Lady Catherine represented the dying aristocratic class. That she has lost
much of her social authority can be seen in the scene where Lady Catherine visits Elizabeth to
speak about the relationship between her and her nephew Mr. Darcy. A few decades earlier she
would have summoned Elizabeth to Rosings Park where she

Texting and Driving Accidents
Texting and Driving (Taylor) just loved everybody and was an amazing friend, said Shauna
Sauer, mother of a teen killed in a texting and driving accident. She wanted to take on the world,
and she would have. Taylor was killed going 80 plus miles an hour on I 84 when she hit a tank
truck that was rounding the corner at 15 mph in the opposite lane. I think she was probably
(texting) to stay awake, she was probably tired, said Clay Sauer, Taylor s father. Texting and
driving ruined this young girl s life, causing a huge impact in the lives of her loved ones. Each
year, thousands of people are severely injured or die in car accidents that are caused by cell
phone use while operating a motorized vehicle. People need to put their phones aside while they
are driving because when people use their phones their attention is not focused on the road, more
unnecessary deaths occur, there is a higher risk of accidents, and insurance rates sky rocket.
Texting and driving is dangerous because when our attention is focused on the messages that
pop up on our phones we cannot focus on the road and are unaware of our surroundings.
According to LA Times, people who text and drive are 23 times more likely to be involved in an
accident. Associated Press of The LA Times mentioned, We all agree that things like taking your
eyes off the road are dangerous. The popularity of mobile devices is increasing, and with the press

Devy Essay
Discussion It is firstly important to note that our gaze dynamics are consistent with random walk
processes. These movements are constant with what could be expected from long tailed LГ©vy
distributions. Our results showed strong evidence for LГ©vy flights during both aesthetics rating
and shape tasks. This makes sense, even in the presence of potentially larger inter individual
differences. Since participants would find the tasks engaging, and would elicit more exploration.
Interestingly our free viewing tasks trended towards H values that were less than 0.5. This indicates
gaze dynamics that were sub diffusive or anti persistent, movements. These types of movements are
more commonly found during fixation the need to keep the gaze... Show more content on

That is, as the task at hand changes, so must the way in which our eyes engage with it. This
further supports the previously proposed fixational exploration continuum model suggested by
Otero Millan. We see consistent changes of scale invariance in gaze dynamics in multiples tasks,
which is consistent with the model. However, with the changes in the Hurst component, it would
be interesting to explore whether the gaze dynamics changes due to task also lie on such a
spectrum. Even with the differences in the H values we observed, only the lower ends of both
sub diffusive and super diffusive scales were seen values were only just above or below 0.5.
Presumably, ranges of values exist far from this point which were not seen in this study. It could be
that the low levels of content in our fractal images, whilst giving us control over our images, could
illicit only weak exploration from the human visual system. Real world scenarios can contain a
multitude of complexity. With different levels of spatial complexity, static and dynamic stimuli,
and attentional/task demands. The aim of this study was to further the investigation of eye
movements. Which is why images were simplified to black and white fractal images with tightly
controlled spatial complexity. The conditions in this trial, whilst abstract, allowed us to observe the
human visual system as it engages with stimuli. Free viewing and judgement tasks are just a few of

Effect Of Anaerobic Respiration On Yeast
In this experiment, my group designed our own experiment in which we explored anaerobic
respiration using yeast by measuring the rate of fermentation and examining the amount of carbon
dioxide produced by active yeast. We did this by obtaining one mole of sucrose, glucose, and
fructose and testing their effects they had on fermentation in a water and yeastmixture.
Fermentation is more often referred to as anaerobic respiration, which takes place in the absence
of oxygen, and yeasts are single celled fungi, often used in commercial bread and alcoholic
beverage production. Anaerobic respiration is helpful to the body because it helps produce lactic
acid in the muscles when exercising, and stops your body from overworking itself. During
alcoholic fermentation, cells break down glucoseto form ethanol and carbon dioxide, as well as two
ATP molecules. I hypothesized that if the same amount of glucose, sucrose, and fructose are added
to a solution, then the rate of fermentation will increase, varying among the sugars. My null
hypothesis stated if the same amount of sucrose, glucose, and fructose is added to the solution, then
no reaction will occur. To start our experiment, we created our control that was filled with water
heated to sixty degrees Fahrenheit, then added a yeast packet to the water and mixed the solution.
Next, we acquired one mole of sucrose, glucose, and fructose. The independent variables in our
experiment included sucrose, glucose, and fructose, while the

The City Of Athens, Plato, Aristotle, Epicurus, And Zeno
Paul s message to the Athenians demonstrates a perfect example of witnessing to unbelievers
without using Scripture.
As we open the text this morning, remember Paul is now in the intellectual city of Athens (show

Plato, Aristotle, Epicurus, and Zeno lived and taught.
However, Paul viewed the city through the lens of Scripture. Instead of seeing the magnificent
buildings and the fine art, he saw a city full of idols. Paul saw the city as most unappealing and
distressed filled his heart. He took advantage of the opportunity to speak to the situation in the
synagogue and in the Market Place. In the market place, he encountered two groups of ... Show

I see that you are extremely religious in every respect. With much wisdom, he commended them
for at least having a concept of religion. He did not accuse them of their philosophy or idolatry.
By beginning on a positive note, you avoid alienating your audience at the very outset. People who
are genuinely interested in others will often look for the positive in every negative situation and
focus on the positive instead of the negative. Yet, despite being religious, the Athenians were not
saved by the grace and blood of Jesus Christ. Just because a person attends church every Sunday
does not make him a Christian. Religion is empty without the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
2.Connect with your audience (v:23).
Here we see the art of effective communication. Paul began his discourse where the people were by
referring to their altar dedicated to the unknown god. He used the altar to build a bridge to reach the
intellectual unbelievers. In other words, it became his launching pad to present his argument for
the monotheistic God. There were many altars in the city dedicated to different gods and for fear of
offending some deity of whom they were unaware, the Athenians erected an altar to this unknown
god. The fact that they established an altar to an unknown god, proved their ignorance. Paul said to
them, what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you. Here, Paul took the opportunity to

In the past century, what has cause more amount of deaths than wars? Epidemic diseases. Bill
Gates, the CEO of Microsoft, has vigorously brought to concern how unprepared we are for the
next outbreak. For example, in the Ebola disease outbreak, the panics of thousands and/or
millions across the globe rose since we weren t prepared for such an event to happen. Therefore, in
order to reduce the catastrophes around the world, we must spread the information of how to deal
with the epidemic diseases before they spread. With this being said, Gates utilizes an effective

The Doctor Of Nursing Practice ( Dnp ) Program
Since the capstone project started early on beginning of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
program, I was able to discuss and work personally with Dr. Spicer as my practice mentor in
selecting the appropriate topic for my project. Dr. Spicer was very involved in choosing my
second option for new capstone project # 1 related to simulation lab and faculty teaching and
learning. The patient simulation laboratory (SIM lab) uses state of the art equipment that provides
students and faculty with the opportunity to tackle real life scenarios in a safe and supported
environment. Further, I learned that active learning involves the faculty through participation and
investment in exploring content knowledge in all phases of the learning process. It requires
educational activities that provide faculty with the opportunity to engage actively in courses and
respond to the learning situation.
My initial problem was my capstone project # 3 on how can a charge nurse help patient s family
cope and avoid the effects of ICU decisions that could lead to post traumatic stress disorder
(PTSD)? I was informed by Dr. Spicer that the initial approval of capstone #3 may have legal
consequences per legal department for Kaiser Permanente because of contract issue that would
cause further delay in my advancement in the DNP program. He further advised me to contact my
academic mentor Dr. Carrion to inquire about changing the approved capstone project. Telephone

Differences in Marketing for B2C and B2B Sites
Introduction
Marketing in an electronic business/commerce (e business/e commerce) arena today is truly no
different than the ole В‘brick and mortar business. Business to business (B2B) and business to
consumer (B2C) sites need to have a crafty approach to implement marketing strategies and develop
an effective marketing plan to reach the intended (targeted) market. Thus, the mixing or blending
of the four Ps (product, place, price, and promotion) in such a way to attain both the business and
target market s goals and objectives is the key to success. The correct marketing mix, or blend, will
help both a B2B or B2C site ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the relationships that are developed between a B2C business and a consumer are
normally shorter in duration than the relationship between a B2B business and their customer (http:
//www.vista consulting.com/marketing articles/b2b b2c marketing.htm, 2006).
Business to Business (B2B)
Like B2C sites, B2B sites must also have a good understanding on the target market they are
attempting to reach, but B2B marketing is more focused on relationship building than transaction
building like B2C sites. Additionally, the business buyer is sophisticated, understands your product
or service better than you do, and wants or needs to buy products or services to help their company
stay profitable, competitive, and successful (http://www.vista consulting.com/marketing articles
/b2b b2c marketing.htm, 2006). Furthermore, the visitor to the B2B site might not be the actual
buyer, but a member of the decision making team. Thus, B2B sites must fulfill the needs of the
В‘researcher who may be just wanting to locate detailed information about the product, long term
customer care, and the financial stability of the B2B (Grove, 2005). And, in most cases, B2B site s
target market is smaller and well defined versus the B2C target market. For B2B sites, they are
building their customer base on long term relationships, trust, and commitments not on the number

Similarities Between Mengzi And Shuangzi
Mangzi and Zhuangzi, both very influential Asian philosophers, have very differing opinions on
how one should might respond in an adverse situation such as a child in danger or a parent dying.
While Mengzi believes that human nature is good and someone in either of these situations would
feel bad, Zhuangzi takes a different perspective in which he accepts life as it is and would not
respond in a negative way if confronted with these situations.
To understand how Mengzi believes a human responds in certain events such as a parent dying or a
baby in danger, it is crucial to understand his metaphor of Sprouts. Mengzi believes that humans
have internal innate capacities of benevolence, righteousness, wisdom and propriety which he refers

Zhuangzi employs the idea of perspective in his ideology. Exemplifying perspective through the
relativity of beauty, People say that Mao Qiang and Lady Li are beautiful. But if fish saw them
they would dive deep, if birds saw them they would fly high, and if deer saw them they would cut
and run (216). He points out that even if humans generally agree that she is a beautiful person,
animals do not have the same perspective of beauty that we do and may find her disgusting. He
links this to critique Mengzi s sprouts of virtue, saying that the sprouts of benevolence and
righteousness look at right and wrong objectively, while Zhuangzi believes that right and wrong
are relative to the perspective that you take. He believes that people who are perfected can shed
their perspective and see that there is no right or wrong, there just is, and once you can embrace it,
you can mount the clouds and mists, straddle the sun and moon, and roam beyond the four seas.
Death and life make no difference to them, how much less the sprouts of benefit and harm (217).
Embracing the subjectivity of perspective is liberating and allows one to view the world much

Jean Toomer- An African American Writer
Jean Toomer was an African American writer. He was known as the leading American writer of
the 1920s after he established his book Cane which inspired authors of the Harlem Renaissance.
Jean Toomer was born on December 26, 1894 as Nathan Pinchback Toomer. His mother was the
governor of Louisiana during Reconstruction and the first U.S. governor of African American
descent (Jones 1). In 1985, Toomer s father abandoned him and his mother. He forced them to live
with his mother cruel father in Washington. P.B.S. Pinchback made a deal to support them only if
they changed Toomer s name to Eugene Pinchback. Toomer later shortened Eugene to Jean.

Toomer s poems enhanced the moods of wistful and mournful pastoralism that pervades the book.
His poems provide transitioning from one narrative to another, incorporating myths and symbols.
Toomer is a controversial literary and cultural figure who gets criticized by people for rejecting his
race. He is praised by others for the confines of rigid ethnic distinctions. Toomer s rejection of
race drew sharp criticism from many people, especially from members of the African American
community. They found him being self loathing rather than racial unification (Claypool 2). Toomer
has been criticized for failing to write about the experience after Cane. Many people said he denied
his African American heritage out of shame and cowardice (Claypool 4). Many critics have
credited his work with ushering in the Harlem Renaissance noting the book s representations of
African American characters and culture. Others have located it within the lost generation owing to
its literary experimentation, romantic primitivism, and its critiques of postwar values (Jones 3).
The analysis of Cane contains Toomer denying his racial heritage. This book also contains the
extracts from most of the important early Cane criticism (Golding 3).
As an idealist philosopher, he valued the power of the mind and the imagination of physical
reality (Claypool 3). In the summer of 1924 he spent time at Gurdjieffs schools. He became a
disciple and led Gurdjieff groups in New

  • 2. Race in A Different Mirror’ by Ronald Takaki In the first Chapter of the book A Different Mirror by (Takaki, 1993) the author embarks on a descriptive narrative that tries to elaborate the concept of a multiracial America. The chapter begins with the author taking a taxi ride in which he is subjected to racial discrimination. The taxi driver questions the author s origin owing to the fact that his English is perfect and eloquent. This incident prompts a discussion that transpires throughout the chapter as the author tries to explain to his audience that America is a multiracial country with different ethnic groups that moved from their homelands to settle in the United States. The chapter discusses the settlement of various racial groups such as; English immigrants, African... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first theme proclaims the royal monarchy by presenting the individual authority held by both the King and the queen. King Ferdinand of Aragon is established as the ruling authority of the Spanish kingdom. His daughter Queen Juana is presented as the ruler of the two regions of Castile and Leon. God is recognized as the supreme creator of both the heavens and the earth. The origin of man is explained through the creation of Adam and Eve, whom are the original ancestors that all men and women descended from. The author then tries to explain the events that led to the formation of kingdoms, which is attributed to the fact that a single kingdom could not be sustained. This resulted in the division of mankind into various kingdoms. The second theme elaborates the transition of power from God to the monarchs. This transition occurs through an intermediate institution that transfers divine power through religious mechanisms onto a political leadership. Divine power form God is transferred onto the Papacy that is given supreme authority and dominion over all men. St Peter is the first pope whose kingdom is centered in Rome form where he rules over all men: Gentiles, Jews, Christians and any other religious groups. The Papal lineage is established as the supreme power structure and all Popes that descend from St Peter are treated with the same respect and proclaimed as lord and king. One such pope is responsible for donating the lands of the Americas onto the King and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How McCabe and Mrs Miller and Blade Runner Subvert Their... How McCabe and Mrs Miller and Blade Runner Subvert Their Genres and Defy Audience Expectations Two genres which have always been Hollywood staples are science fiction and the western. The genres can be seen in films made as early as Le Voyage Dans la lune (Georges Melies 1902) and The Great Train Robbery (Edwin S. Porter 1903). On the surface the two genres are very different, however if one looks closely at them they are similar in many ways. Both genres usually feature uncharted frontiers, strong silent protagonists, frightening savages (played by either space aliens or Native Americans) and damsels in distress. The formula for these two genres was established many decades ago and in recent years it takes a film that defies and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One important change from traditional western is the cold, the film is set in winter in a cold climate and Beatty goes around bundled up like a bear in a thick fur coat. The viewer can almost feel the wind whipping through the poorly built houses and the residents shivering. Altman features the snow and the weather prominently in his film, this is in stark contrast to a traditional western which takes place in a warm state and in which the climate is rarely an issue. Another difference is the way in which Altman peoples his film with realistic characters whose flaws he makes clear to the audience. This is not an idealized west peopled by beautiful looking movie stars, even Beatty, sporting a thick beard, and Christie are willing to look less attractive than usual for their parts. The people who live in Altman s West have had difficult lives. They have poor hygiene and poor social skills. These realistic characters include the workers McCabe uses to build his whorehouse as well as the whores he first brings to town, while Altman treats these people sympathetically and their appearance and actions are realistic it is clear that they are not prime examples of human beauty, intelligence and cleanliness. This use of realistic characters is not always the case in idealized westerns such as High Noon (Fred Zinneman 1952) starring the movie star lawman Gary Cooper (Will ... • 4. Cold War Era Movie Assignment Cold War Era Movie Assignment The movie/TV clips that we watched in class were all made between the years 1954 and 1964. World War II and The Cold War between The Soviet Union and the United States became the subject of many TV shows and movies of the time period. The paranoia and fear of communism and nuclear war was very real in the 1950 s/1960 s and it shaped the cultures of both the United States and the Soviet Union. You will be asked questions not only about the clips you will view but how they relate to World War II and The Cold War. You must use the historical events and facts that we have covered in class in your answers. Guiding Question: What do you think the attitude of Americans was towards Germans and Russians during this period of time? How did movies and television affect their opinions? Gojira (Godzilla) 1954 and Them! (1954) 1)What is the Japanese film Gojira trying to warn the world about? What happened in 1945 that influenced this film? The Japanese film Gojira was made in the early 1950 s, shortly after WW2 and the 2 atomic bombs dropped on Japan. The nuclear bombs American forces dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki left a sore spot in Japanese society. It reminded and allowed Japanese citizens to relive the horrible horrors that occurred after the blast. 2)What do you think the Japanese opinion of nuclear war was in the aftermath of World War II? Why? Japanese citizens were not too keen as they had witnessed the devastating power a nuclear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the CEOs Travis Kalanick of this business said it will be intense, but it is only for expanding the company on making more profit (Felton). In Ryan Felton article he stresses Uber overall problem is will their money last enough to have a trucking and a driverless car. I believe that if Uber budgets their money right and avoid lawsuits they can expand one part of the company at a time. Furthermore, adding in electric cars and self driving vehicles this will make the drive probably faster. Uber will see a decrease in the number of lawsuits that come in every year (Lim). This smart idea will come with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Uber website states that they provide liability insurance that covers any accident that occurs from when the trip starts to the finish. Even if it was the other car fault and they do not have proper insurance Uber covers everyone in the ridesharing vehicle. But the drivers are required to still have auto insurance because of what that is what every state requires. In my academic journal Jennie Davis expresses on the other hand, drivers are uncertain if Uber will cover them. Also, that in certain cities they treat their policies differently and may not cover. But they feel the customers are fully covered in any circumstance. Davis argues that this is really a concerning factor, because drivers are riding around on their cell phones constantly. I agree this is a big risk when it comes to keeping your eyes on the road. But Uber clearly states in their policy that they cover both the passenger and the driver. It is the Uber company job to make it more clear to their employees on the policy so they will not be driving around wondering if Uber going to cover. Despite this big concern Uber business model still states that they cover everyone in the car so drivers not overact and just read their policy on this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction Clinical trials are research based studies that are performed to determine whether a drug, device, or medical procedure (depending on the stage of the study) is safe and effective. A complete set of trials that would include all phases may cost hundreds of millions of dollars which is usually paid for by a sponsor such as a government agency or a for profit company. Increasingly, clinical trial activities are contracted out to service providers such as an academic medical center (AMC), a contract research organization (CRO), or a physician s practice and this outsourcing requires negotiation and execution of CTAs. It is also important to identify the Investigator who is assigned to conduct the study and whether the Investigator is an employee of the organization. To create this paper I used the Political, Military, economic, Social, Infrastructure, Information aspects of the country. In order to begin understanding Syria is important to take time to know the early history. For the Syrians history represents the events that leaded to their identity, as they know it and the rest of the world see it. Those past events shaped the interaction with its border neighbors and the rest of the world today. Their patterns of life, how they educate citizens and practice of the religion that has been pass generation to generation, has been portrayed on Syria s history. • 9. An in-Depth Analysis of the Use of Specific Musical... The Romantic Era was a period of great change and emancipation. It moved away from strict laws by allowing artistic freedom, experimentation and creativity. Romantic music evolved from ideas established in earlier periods, such as the classical period, and went further through the use of expression and passion. New musical concepts evolved due to current trends and the musicwas deeply personal and nationalistic. Musical concepts including pitch, tone colour and dynamics and expressive techniques each express the style of the Romantic period in differing ways. These concepts are exemplified through Nocturne and Valse, both by Chopin. Nocturne and Valse are both emotionally expressionistic pieces typical of the romantic era, written by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the Nocturne is played with legato articulation, this creates more freedom and expression. The Valse however, is played with Tempo Giusto. This means it is much more strict as it must be played in exact time. This does not allow for variation, unlike the Nocturne, which is common with waltzes. The smooth character of the Nocturne and Valse is also linked with the inclusion of sostenuto articulation. The loud pedal creates an overlapping effect, which contributes to the nature of the piece. The type of layer relationship shown in both the Nocturne and Valse is homophonic. They consist of a dominant melodic layer accompanied by subordinate harmonic layers. Many composers of this time, reached for extremely high or low sounds. This was in search of increased brilliance and depth in sound. Throughout the Nocturne the broken chords in the bass span from relatively high to low pitch with the lowest note, an f, in bar 8 and the highest, an a#, in bar 37. The treble experiences a similar type of pitch pattern, with notes ranging from mid pitch to high pitch, which can be seen in bars 30 37 of the piece. Romantic composers revelled in rich and sensuous sound, using tone colour to obtain variety of mood and atmosphere. Never before had timbre been so important. Composers sought new ways of blending and combining tone colours to achieve the most poignant and intense sound. The Piano, the favourite instrument of the romantic age, was vastly ... Marquart, from a more modern point of view, feels like her grandparents were deceived by a facade that enveloped the Midwest claiming that the area is not as exciting as the media made it out to be. Even the people already living there are so monotone that film writers make characters midwestern for shock value. His First New Chronicle and Good Government, a massive manuscript only recently rediscovered after nearly 300 years, is a unique work that walks the often thin line between text and graphic, Spanish and Quechua, and history and rhetoric. Guaman Poma s goal in writing his First New Chronicle was twofold: to secure a future for Andean nobility, and a future for Andean customs. These purposes were at odds with each other. Under the shadow of this disillusionment, he wrote his masterpiece The First New Chronicle, as an outcry against the Spanish, and an argument in the fight for Andean resurgence. From his unique vantage point as a cultural mestizo, he criticized both the colonial Spanish and the Incas, whom he also considered to be colonizers of Andean tribes such as his own. Yet as a biological Andean, he also criticized mestizos, advocating instead for Andean rule of colonial Peru. The First New Chronicle advances this purpose explicitly. A massive tome over one thousand pages long, it chronicles the history of the Andean people from ancient times to 1615 AD. These powers include the rights to stop and search suspects, to arrest and interview people when necessary and to take fingerprints and samples (blood samples) for scientific analysis. If he or she fails to give reason for the search, then the search is unlawful. This was shown in the case of Osman v DPP 1999, where the officers did not give their names and station. The Queens Bench Divisional Court held that this made a search of Mr. Osman unlawful and so he could not be guilty of assaulting the police in the execution of their duty. If the search is in public, the police can only request that the suspect removes his or her outer coat, jacket and gloves. This is why Milgram received such shocking results in his obedience experiment and why only a few reacted in Darley and Latane s studies. Although cruelty is within from birth, the test subjects in Milgram s, Darley and Latane s experiment had no intentions of being cruel because they believed they were simply following orders and still fighting a personal conflict which is to respond or not to a situation, while still conforming to the norms of social etiquette. Cruelty is something that is innate. It is not something we learn but rather something that is nurtured into existence. Individually, cruelty levels differ from one to another as each being may have experienced different situations causing them to react differently. In the experiment conducted by Stanley Milgram, a psychologist who wanted to test the level of cruelty a normal citizen would go to when instructed by a person of authority. He brought in many different people as the test subjects and as we see from the results how each persons obedience to inflict pain on someone else differed amongst the subjects, we understand this is the results of their cruelty that is within. After high school he decided to become a writer and with the help of the black American expatriate writer Richard Wright, won a grant that enabled him to move to Paris, where he lived most of his remaining years. He wrote a variety of novels mostly about the intellectual trials of black men in a white, racist society and homosexual themes. James Baldwin wrote Sonny s Blues which was about the experiences he had with Sonny and he also learned many new things from both of his parents. The intended audience is towards people giving their loved ones a second chance. Sonny goes through addiction, he recovers from it and he tries to change his life around. James Baldwin uses darkness and light multiple times throughout this writing. Darkness and light is used as a motif in Sonny s Blues. A motif is a recurring pattern used in writing that means something. Darkness and light represent the good times and bad times. Light is the positive and darkness is the negative aspects of life. In the beginning of the story James Baldwin writes about not seeing Sonny in a while and starts to think about him while he is teaching. Elizabeth, who is a daughter of an aristocratic gentleman and mother from the middle class, at the end marries to one of the wealthiest aristocrats in England. Elizabeth s marriage to Mr. Darcy is one of the greatest match in Austen s novels. Until the very end of the story it is nearly impossible for Eliza to think of marrying Darcy because of the great social distance between their families. It is equally difficult for Darcy to think of marrying her. When Darcy proposes to Elizabeth, he says that the reason why he hardly admitted his feelings towards her was the distinction between the classes they belonged to. There are different views on the extent of social difference between them. In Lady Catherine s eyes Elizabeth is a nobody, with upstart pretensions , a woman shrewdly on the make, who will pollute the shades of Pemberley . Elizabeth herself, however, is not overwhelmed by the social difference. He is a gentleman; I am a gentleman s daughter; so far we are equal , she claims calmly. (Coperland et al. 1997). She demonstrates that marriage should be a choice made for love by allowing Elizabeth to remain in the power of choice even in spite of social pressures. Austen shows the good effects of a marriage based on love and the positive effects, which can come from it. As mentioned above, Lady Catherine represented the dying aristocratic class. Effect Of Anaerobic Respiration On Yeast In this experiment, my group designed our own experiment in which we explored anaerobic respiration using yeast by measuring the rate of fermentation and examining the amount of carbon dioxide produced by active yeast. We did this by obtaining one mole of sucrose, glucose, and fructose and testing their effects they had on fermentation in a water and yeastmixture. Fermentation is more often referred to as anaerobic respiration, which takes place in the absence of oxygen, and yeasts are single celled fungi, often used in commercial bread and alcoholic beverage production. Anaerobic respiration is helpful to the body because it helps produce lactic acid in the muscles when exercising, and stops your body from overworking itself. During alcoholic fermentation, cells break down glucoseto form ethanol and carbon dioxide, as well as two ATP molecules. I hypothesized that if the same amount of glucose, sucrose, and fructose are added to a solution, then the rate of fermentation will increase, varying among the sugars. My null hypothesis stated if the same amount of sucrose, glucose, and fructose is added to the solution, then no reaction will occur. To start our experiment, we created our control that was filled with water heated to sixty degrees Fahrenheit, then added a yeast packet to the water and mixed the solution. The patient simulation laboratory (SIM lab) uses state of the art equipment that provides students and faculty with the opportunity to tackle real life scenarios in a safe and supported environment. Further, I learned that active learning involves the faculty through participation and investment in exploring content knowledge in all phases of the learning process. It requires educational activities that provide faculty with the opportunity to engage actively in courses and respond to the learning situation. My initial problem was my capstone project # 3 on how can a charge nurse help patient s family cope and avoid the effects of ICU decisions that could lead to post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)? I was informed by Dr. Spicer that the initial approval of capstone #3 may have legal consequences per legal department for Kaiser Permanente because of contract issue that would cause further delay in my advancement in the DNP program. He further advised me to contact my academic mentor Dr. Carrion to inquire about changing the approved capstone project. Telephone conference was initiated with Dr. ... Marketing Differences Between B2C and B2B Websites Differences in Marketing for B2C and B2B Sites March 27, 2006 Differences in Marketing for B2C and B2B Sites Introduction Marketing in an electronic business/commerce (e business/e commerce) arena today is truly no different than the ole В‘brick and mortar business. Business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) sites need to have a crafty approach to implement marketing strategies and develop an effective marketing plan to reach the intended (targeted) market. Thus, the mixing or blending of the four Ps (product, place, price, and promotion) in such a way to attain both the business and target market s goals and objectives is the key to success. The correct marketing mix, or blend, will help both a B2B or B2C site ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because the relationships that are developed between a B2C business and a consumer are normally shorter in duration than the relationship between a B2B business and their customer (http: //www.vista consulting.com/marketing articles/b2b b2c marketing.htm, 2006). Business to Business (B2B) Like B2C sites, B2B sites must also have a good understanding on the target market they are attempting to reach, but B2B marketing is more focused on relationship building than transaction building like B2C sites. Additionally, the business buyer is sophisticated, understands your product or service better than you do, and wants or needs to buy products or services to help their company stay profitable, competitive, and successful (http://www.vista consulting.com/marketing articles /b2b b2c marketing.htm, 2006). Furthermore, the visitor to the B2B site might not be the actual buyer, but a member of the decision making team. Thus, B2B sites must fulfill the needs of the В‘researcher who may be just wanting to locate detailed information about the product, long term customer care, and the financial stability of the B2B (Grove, 2005). And, in most cases, B2B site s target market is smaller and well defined versus the B2C target market. For B2B sites, they are building their customer base on long term relationships, trust, and commitments not on the number of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Similarities Between Mengzi And Shuangzi Mangzi and Zhuangzi, both very influential Asian philosophers, have very differing opinions on how one should might respond in an adverse situation such as a child in danger or a parent dying. While Mengzi believes that human nature is good and someone in either of these situations would feel bad, Zhuangzi takes a different perspective in which he accepts life as it is and would not respond in a negative way if confronted with these situations. To understand how Mengzi believes a human responds in certain events such as a parent dying or a baby in danger, it is crucial to understand his metaphor of Sprouts. Mengzi believes that humans have internal innate capacities of benevolence, righteousness, wisdom and propriety which he refers to as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Zhuangzi employs the idea of perspective in his ideology. Exemplifying perspective through the relativity of beauty, People say that Mao Qiang and Lady Li are beautiful. But if fish saw them they would dive deep, if birds saw them they would fly high, and if deer saw them they would cut and run (216). He points out that even if humans generally agree that she is a beautiful person, animals do not have the same perspective of beauty that we do and may find her disgusting. He links this to critique Mengzi s sprouts of virtue, saying that the sprouts of benevolence and righteousness look at right and wrong objectively, while Zhuangzi believes that right and wrong are relative to the perspective that you take. He believes that people who are perfected can shed their perspective and see that there is no right or wrong, there just is, and once you can embrace it, you can mount the clouds and mists, straddle the sun and moon, and roam beyond the four seas. Death and life make no difference to them, how much less the sprouts of benefit and harm (217). Embracing the subjectivity of perspective is liberating and allows one to view the world much ... Toomer s poems enhanced the moods of wistful and mournful pastoralism that pervades the book. His poems provide transitioning from one narrative to another, incorporating myths and symbols. Toomer is a controversial literary and cultural figure who gets criticized by people for rejecting his race. He is praised by others for the confines of rigid ethnic distinctions. Toomer s rejection of race drew sharp criticism from many people, especially from members of the African American community. They found him being self loathing rather than racial unification (Claypool 2). Toomer has been criticized for failing to write about the experience after Cane. Many people said he denied his African American heritage out of shame and cowardice (Claypool 4). Many critics have credited his work with ushering in the Harlem Renaissance noting the book s representations of African American characters and culture. Others have located it within the lost generation owing to its literary experimentation, romantic primitivism, and its critiques of postwar values (Jones 3). The analysis of Cane contains Toomer denying his racial heritage. This book also contains the extracts from most of the important early Cane criticism (Golding 3). As an idealist philosopher, he valued the power of the mind and the imagination of physical reality (Claypool 3). In the summer of 1924 he spent time at Gurdjieffs schools.
