Acid Rain
Acidification of the surface of the water is a major problem in areas of the northeastern United
States, in eastern Canada, and in southern Scandinavia, it also occurs in other parts of the world as
well (Baker Schofield, 1982). The acidification on the surface of water causes many fish
populations to decline in soft water aquatic environments, that are exposed to acidprecipitation
(Neville Campell, 1988). This acidification of the surface water is caused by acid rain. Acid rain
or otherwise known as acid deposition is a term that includes any form of precipitation with acidic
components, such as sulfuric or nitric acid that comes down from the atmosphere in wet or dry
forms. These forms include rain, snow, fog, hail or even dust that can be acidic. Acid rain is
caused by when sulfur dioxide(SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) are put into the atmosphere and
then transported by wind and air currents. Sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides react with water,
oxygenand other chemicals to form sulfuric and nitric acids. These chemicals then mix with
water and other materials before falling into the ground. A small portion of sulfur dioxide and
nitrogen oxides can cause acid rain from natural sources like volcanoes, but most of it comes
from the burning of fossil fuel (Feely, et al., 2010). Sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are two of
the major sources associated towards acid rain. Atmospheric deposition of the sulfur and nitrogen
molecules is derived from coal fired

Augustine Of Hippo ( 354-430 )
Augustine of Hippo (354 430) was a North African man who took an extremely tumultuous path
to sainthood. In his early years, he led a crazy and immoral lifestyle. A driven professor of rhetoric,
Augustine s had lofty worldly goals and a weak sense of conscience. His intense drive to be
successful would later create a major problem for him when trying to fully give his life to God. At
an early age, Augustine began thinking his mother s strong sense of Christianitywas too uneducated
for him. Because he was used to his scholarly readings, he found the Bible to be written in an
extremely unsophisticated way. This, along with questions behind the truth of the Old Testament,
led him to convert to Manichaean beliefs as a young man.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Because of his dealings with Faustus, Augustine learns an important lesson that content is more
important than delivery when looking for spiritual truth. During Augustine s time as a Manichaean,
he converses with Faustus, a North African sage who is known to be extremely persuasive in
Manichaean beliefs. This takes place when Augustine is in Carthage at age twenty nine. Augustine
truly admires his eloquence in speaking, and he was delighted by the force and feeling he brought
to his discourse (Confessions V.vi.11). He is also impressed by Faustus modesty because of the fact
that Faustus will readily admit his lack of knowledge in certain subjects and won t proceed in an
argument or explanation unless he has sufficient knowledge. However, Augustine realizes that this
lack of training in liberal arts that Faustus exhibits leads to his inability to sufficiently answer the
questions that Augustine has about certain Manichaean beliefs (V.vii.12). Augustine is one of the
few people that is able to see through Faustus articulate and educated speech and realize that the
content is lacking. Because of this, Faustus, who had been for many a snare of death (Ps. 17:6),
without his will or knowledge had begun to loosen the bond by which [Augustine] had been
captured (V.vii.13). Augustine s conclusion that Faustus persuasive power wasn t rooted in
substance but in his eloquent discourse

The Effectiveness of The Mitchell College of Business...
Resource centers provide information that concentrate on one particular subject or area. With each
resource center having its own focus, the guidelines to a distinguished resource center can remain
the same but the focus being different. Business resource centers have a list of guidelines to what
makes one effective which can include space, affordability, counseling and education. The Mitchell
Collegeof Business Learning Resource Center can be seen as effective with its view in these four
areas. To illustrate the Mitchell College of Business Learning Resource Center s effectiveness, one
has to first look at the space accommodation. The Learning Resource Center can be divided into
seven different sections. These sections are the reading... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The counseling services provided through the librarians and the group studies with other students
helps to bring stability when searching for pertinent information in certain areas. Other business
research centers tend to have these same services, some on much larger scales when dealing with
vast amounts of information in different field studies and focuses in business. The benefit of the
Learning Research Center is that it is a part of a college which helps the students focus on a
specific study through their classes and help with the education part of the Learning Resource
Center. For instance, having information is a key to learning but without the knowledge to use that
information it is useless. Classes with a study into a specific field help to disperse information into
different groups of studies helping to alleviate trivial information determined by that specific field.
In other words, studying one field in business can help to address what information is needed when
researching and what information is not needed. The Mitchell College of Business and the
Learning Research Center work hand in hand to accomplish this understanding. Some business
research centers might lack this but have other substitutions for this service or might have a much
bigger operation in terms of classes but this is another feature that affects the affordability. In the
end, when doing a full evaluation based off the four different criteria to make a business research
center

The Mine Resistant Ambush Protective
The Mine Resistant Ambush Protective (MRAP) program featured remarkable speed of
development and production at the time the United States shifted its counterinsurgency strategy in
Iraq. The controversy over the MRAP program revolved around the three year delay from when
the field initially identified its need until its production. This paper asserts that while MRAP
development and production speed was impressive, the slow reaction to the enemy s Improvised
Explosive Device(IED) capability and the lack of doctrine and concept development led to delay.
To support this position, this essay describes the strategic environment with its competing efforts,
and it compares the MRAP acquisition to normal Major Defense Acquisition Programs (MDAP).
Furthermore, it recommends rapid acquisition of other MDAPs of equivalent strategic importance
and urgency, and it highlights the key roles of senior leaders, the Services and the CCMDs within
the MRAP acquisition process. The strategic environment of the MRAP program spanned from
2003 through 2008. It began when General Abizaid, Commander of U.S. Central Command,
declared that IEDs were the No. 1 threat. This declaration from one Combatant Commander
(CCDR) was far short of the fundamentals required to develop a joint concept and its subsequent
solutions. Although MRAPs seemingly provided a solution to an enemy capability, there was no
joint concept that was idea focused, collaboratively developed and assessed, or rigorously evaluated.

How Does Dumas Deserve The Count Of Monte Cristo
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas that centers around the wrongly convicted
Edmond Dantes and how he takes revenge on those who convicted him while also rewarding
those who took care of his father while he was imprisoned. Despite being poorly reviewed by
scholars, this novel is still popular with the general public and is considered to be Dumas
masterpiece. After reading this novel, it is obvious that it does deserve the title of masterpiece .
Dumas work is absolutely genius in The Count of Monte Cristo, however the book itself is not
untouchable like the Count himself. The story itself is the epitome of romanticism, but it is only
hindered by Dumas paid by the word length descriptions.

Saintsbury states that there is no attempt at an impression of growing horror culminating in the
horrible death of Madame de Villefort and her child. The interest is frittered away in endless
details and episodes (Saintsbury 1). I agree that Dumas was far too generous in his descriptions
and often times these descriptions eliminated all sort of mystery or suspense in certain events. In
fact, many of the events that were supposed to be suspenseful were drowned out by massive
amounts of words to describe one scene. The depiction of Villefort s apartment was written as, in
order to call Edouard, he had to awaken the echoes of that apartment transformed into a coffin; to
speak was to violate the silence of the tomb (Dumas 483). the description of the apartment does
provide a sense of creepiness, but the sheer circumlocution takes away from the overall feeling of
terror and suspense. However, even without suspense, the novel still maintained my interest as vivid
images of the scenes were still available rather than being replaced with something vague.
Saintsbury suggests that the dangerous method of introducing long recitals by various characters in
order to help on the movement and join the intrigue is unscrupulously resorted to [in the novel]
(Saintsbury 1). The perfect example is when Andrea says, you, my good man, are my stepfather.
But I don t think it was you who provided me with a hundred thousand

Promotional Strategy Suggestions for Exercise Equipment...
Promotional Strategy Suggestions for Exercise Equipment and Breakfast Cereal
For any product to be sold successfully, especially to the mass market, the firm selling the product
will need to be marketed with a promotion. Promotion is one of the four elements of the marketing
mix, referring to the way in which a product is promoted this is more than just advertising, it
includes public relations, endorsement and any activity which will help to increase awareness of
the product and support the development of sales (Hooley et al, 2007). Promotional strategies are
required in order to create awareness in the potential target market regarding the product, and to
help stimulate sales by influencing the decision making process (Kotler and Keller, 2011). In order
to demonstrate the application of promotion strategies to different products can be examined, with
promotional strategies those products suggested. The two products are exercise equipment and
breakfast cereals.
Exercise Equipment
Designing a commercial strategy to exercise equipment requires the marketer to identify the
message that will suitably communicate not only the purpose and function of the product being
sold, but why and how it will satisfy needs of the consumer. Kotler and Keller (2011) argue that
people do not buy products; they buy the benefits that are provided by the product. For example,
when purchasing a bed the buyer is purchasing the ability to get a good night s sleep, when a
consumer purchases a

Good Will Hunting Essay
A studious young man, an open book these two images swirl around the screen in a kaleidoscope
effect, this was the introductory scene of quot;Good Will Hunting. quot; This scene is followed by
Ben Afflick, knocking on Will s door, when Will comes out a credit rolls by that says,
quot;screenplaywritten by Ben Afflick and Matt Damon, quot; just as the two walk side by side.
This shows how perfectly the makers of this movie have everything timed, down to the credits.
Also, the timing shows when the professors assistant and Will are alone and the assistant tells Will
how lucky he is to have someone believe in him as the professor does. Just as he finishes saying
this the professor walks in and suddenly the assistant has something better... Show more content on

When Will is trying to solve a formula he writes his work on his mirror with a dry erase marker.
The camera blurs out will and focuses on the formula and also does the opposite. While writing the
formula out, the shots fade to the same shot but at a different angle creating a feeling that some
time is passing by. Also, to support this feeling each time the formula is showed there is more
added to it than one can write in the brief moment that it took to come back to it with the camera.
Additionally, the benefit of having the scene of him writing on the mirror lets the viewer see
him concentrating on the formula and lets the viewer see the formula being written out which
shows the viewer how intelligent Will must be, since the formula probably made little sense to
him or her. Another effect was a fight scene captured in slow motion. After the fight scene the
cops showed up and many flashes of the scene from different camera angles appeared creating a
feeling of confusion and made it seem speeded up without it being filmed in fast motion. During
this movie many close ups were filmed where the eyes were the only bit of color on the screen.
When Will starts talking to prove a point, which is several times through out the movie, the
camera zooms in on him concentrating on his eyes. However, while Will and his friends were in
the car the camera looks at each one individually from a distance while mellow music is playing

Rupert Brooke s The Soldier And De Dulce Et Decorum Est
Rupert Brooke s The Soldier and Owen s De Dulce et Decorum Est while written about the same
war are two very different perspectives about the same incident in history. Each piece is told by
a speaker that has a vastly different mindset and perspective than the other as well as from a
different moment within the time frame of the war. One piece seems to have a pre occurrence
perspective while the other has a post experience perspective. After reading each piece it is
obvious to see that while two people can experience the same historical event in time their
experiences and perspectives of the event will not be the same. Brookes The Soldier and Owen s

Owen believes that the consequences of war are well worth it for England. Brooke on the other
hand opposes this and shows the more harsh trials of war. Brooke wrote, Men marched asleep.
Many had lost their boots, but limped on, blood shod (2036). Brooke in contrast to Owen shows
that the war is not worth the suffering of these soldiers, England is not worth the suffering.
Although Owen and Brooke share similar underlying themes of soldiers and war, their
viewpoints on the matter are vastly different. Brooke seems to romanticize the idea of dying for
one s country. That even though the speaker might die it is all worth it and to think about this
sacrifice as a well worth sacrifice. Brooke leads with this outlook of the poem with If I should
die think only this of me: That there is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England ( ).
It is obvious that the speaker believes whole heartedly the sacrifice of their life is well worth it
for the country and those who will continue to be alive and part of England. This poem also
seems to be spoken by an individual that has not yet been to war. There is no mention of the
darker sides of war within this poem as there is in Owen s piece. Death is spoken of without any
gore or vivid details. Instead it is spoken about honorably and the tone is rather light especially
when compared to Owen s piece. The very end of the poem itself conjures up a happier scene Her

A key term used when describing the exhibition space is mise en scГЁne . Mise en scГЁne is an
expression used to describe the design aspects of a theatre or film production, which means
visual theme or perhaps more pertinently telling a story both in visually artful ways through
storyboarding, cinematography and stage design, and in poetically artful ways through
direction. It is also commonly used to refer to multiple single scenes within the film to represent
the film. This is particularly the case in this show as each room has a different look and feel like
one would experience in a theatre; for example the Main Stage has a very different look and feel

Argumentative Essay On Hypnotism
Hypnotism is defined as a state of consciousness where a person loses power over their actions.
Hypnosis is used in multiple kinds of therapy. In psychotherapy, it can be used to treat conditions
more effectively. When hypnosis is used on top of psychotherapy to treat disorders such as
obesity, insomnia, anxiety, and hypertension, it is more effective than doing just therapy in over
half of the cases. But, it isn t known how effective hypnosis is for disorders such as
dermatological issues or irritable bowel syndrome. (Soundview Prep). Hypnosis has so far been

There are three major theories in hypnotism. One is that hypnotizability is affected by a person s
desire to be hypnotized. If someone wants to be hypnotized by the person, then they will be more
likely to be hypnotized. The second is that hypnotizability is affected by how suggestible someone
is. If they are open to suggestions then they will be more likely to be hypnotized. The third is that
hypnotism is another state of consciousness they are not conscious and are blindly just following
any request made to them. These are the three main theories that are the most meaningful. Evidence
has shown that responsiveness to hypnosis may be hereditary. A study shows that identical twins
are more likely than fraternal twins to have similar levels of hypnotizability. All research shows that
personality characteristics do not affect hypnotizability. These include gullibility, aggressiveness or
passiveness, and imagination. But, the only trait so far known to link to hypnotizability is how
easily someone is absorbed by leisurely activities such as listening to

Literature Influence On American Literature
A Tale Intended to be After the Fact... is how Stephen Crane introduced his harrowing story, The
Open Boat, but this statement also shows that history influences American Literature. People
wanted a language and writing style that was distinctly American, different from Great Britain.
Noah Webster published Webster s American Dictionary of the English Language in 1828.
Previously, words pronunciations and spellings differed from area to area. In other words, people
made up words and wrote them however they liked. Webster s dictionary made American English
more consistent, as well as unique from Great Britain. Abraham lincoln once said, America will
never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we
destroyed ourselves. Throughout history, there have been connections on literary works from
different times. The connection is that History, current events, and social events have influenced
and affected American Literature. Authors, and their work are influenced by the society
surrounding them. Authors have used experiences they have lived in or taken out of history to help
create and personalize their writings. Writingstyles are also affected by the current trends and
opinions of the time they show. By reading American Literature, we have seen the diabolical
treatment of slaves, the destruction and trauma caused by wars, and the ruin of eras such as The
Great Depression. Literature is so very important to our generation

United States Health Care System
TITLE OF PAPER
For many years the condition of the United States health care system has been a hot topic for
debate. Some would like to believe that the U.S has the best health care system in the world, but
unfortunately that may not be the truth. In 2000 The World Health Organization (WHO) released a
world health report. The report ranked the overall health system performance of 191 countries; the
United States was ranked at 37 out of the 191. With out of control costs, highly inequitable
coverage and comparatively low health outcomes, the US healthcare system has failed to provide

On March 23, 2010 congress approved and President Obama signed The Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act (PPACA) into law. The PPACA is more commonly known as just the
Affordable Care Act (ACA) or negatively as Obamacare. In order for the ACA to be passed, the
President had to appease the different political parties. As a result, the ACA is not entirely an
original idea. Some of the main provisions already had the support of various political parties,
because they had been introduced by past presidents and political parties in their health reform
plans over the past few decades. Some examples include: both Nixon and Carter had employer
mandates; Bush had a version of the individual mandate, both Bush and Clinton proposed similar
ideas to the insurance marketplace, among a few others. The ACA is similar to universal health care;
the objective is to ensure that the US citizens have access to affordable quality healthcare, instead
of a free market for all like in other countries it is still for profit. The Affordable Care Act increases
access to care, makes health insurance more affordable, strengthens Medicare and ensures that
Americans have more rights and protections (U.S. Department of

Framing Carpenter Framer
This carpenter contractor specializes in constructing commercial buildings and residential homes
from wood products. They work with sheet wood, composite lumber, rough timber, and regular
lumber. This material is used to create the skeleton of the building or home that is being built. The

protect the people who live or work in the structure and all the stuff inside.
The majority of the day a framing carpenter contractor will spend on a construction site. Framing
the structure is one of the first steps in the process of construction. Working as a framer you will

B amp;Q plc works with many vendors such as Kingfisher Asia (KAL) who supply products to B

their vendors. The code of conduct is based on the international labour and envirnmental standards
set by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conventions which factories and worksites of
all vendors throughout the world need to comply to.
In summary, vendors need to let B amp;Q have full visibility of the enitre supply chain and fulfill
and obey the code of conduct criteria at all facilities. Any failure to meet the nine Critical Failure
Points (CFPs) will result in B amp;Q not buying or purchasing their products.
Through this code of conduct, we can deduce that B amp;Q adopts a possession of knowledge

guidelines from ILO conventions and uses the basic context to write down or capture in an

Gertrude Stein Tender Buttons Sparknotes
In Tender Buttons, Gertrude Stein uses her method of proetry to paint not only descriptions of
subjects around her in the domestic sphere, but also to illustrate their meaning as well. At first
glance, Stein s sentences and stream of consciousness narrations seem nonsensical and almost
impossible to understand their meaning, and, in some cases, are absolutely frustrating to the reader
who hopes to understand them and see the meaning behind them. However, this work is not
intended to be read by its surface text at face value. The reader must understand how and why Stein
changes and, in a sense, rewrites the English sentencestructure and how the matter of perspective
can illuminate the purposes to her OBJECTS, FOOD, and ROOMS. In the three parts OBJECTS,
FOOD, and ROOM, about every small proem, besides in ROOMS, has a title to accompany it,
usually an item which the proem talks about. When looking at these descriptions, however, one can
t help but notice Stein s wordchoice and sentence structure and how it strays from proper English
syntax. In her proem A PIANO, she writes, If the speed is open, if the color is careless, if the event
is overtaken, if the selection of a strong scent is not awkward...and there is no color, not any
color (Stein 19). We ask, how can a speed be open? How can a color be careless? It shouldn t
grammatically make sense, but we as readers are able recognize these as readable phrases that,

ruling reads: The lack of vigilance by the bank in monitoring the only existing limits, acting as alert
signs, hardly exempted JГ©rГґme Kerviel from his duty to inform his hierarchy of the reality of
his excesses or to come back within the limits imposed. In this case, the prosecution had the

The Unitarian View Of Religion
The author, James B. Torrance writes concerning the distinction between two views of worship.
One of the views of worship is called the Unitarian view. The Unitarian view is the common
practice of several churches. It is considered a religious concept of human wisdom, worship to God.
These concepts include, going to church, singing psalms and hymns to God, interceding for the
world, listen to a sermon, offering money, time and talents to God. After all, these actions of
worship are simply part of traditions, without the substance JesusChrist s redemption. It is in a
sense going through the motion, without the relevance of the Holy Spirit.
Trinitarian view, on the other hand, is the participation with the Son s communion with the Father.

Persuasive Essay On The Vietnam War
The question is how can we begin to change what s going on in this country? Let s take a look at
the Vietnam War. It is an illegal and immoral war. President Johnson lies about bringing
democracy to Vietnam. How does one expect to bring democracy to a country that doesn t want
it? By sending hundreds of thousands of troops and bombing their lands to ashes? That is
textbook for tyranny and absolute power. Just because a nation doesn t want to live the same
way as you doesn t mean you have the right to go across the world and kill them. Our country
wants to be the ruler of all. And our marines are its policemen. What can we do to stop it? What
can we do to stop the killing of women and children? We have to power to stand up and say no.
The only way to stop this war is if our young soldiers follow Muhammad Ali and say No, we ain t
going to fight your war. Why should we travel 8000 miles to kill someone who never called him
a Negro? We should not be obliged to kill someone we are told to kill. We will not allow them to
make us hired killers. If I want to kill someone I decide who. But to put a gun in a man s hands
and send him to kill someone is wrong. It is wrong. How come this country adamantly fights
communism worldwide, but ignores domestic racial oppression? It is because the United States
fails to recognize it. Now there s a rule in Alabama that a political party must have an animal as

Examples Of Mental Illness In The Tell Tale Heart
Schizophrenia Character Diagnosis
Edgar Allan Poe is a world renowned author, whose works are taught in schools and universities
across the United States and the world. His works of literature encompasses an array of complex
and diverse characters. Poe s writing often explored the mysterious topic of mental illness. One
character that exhibits a mental illness is the narrator in one of his most popular and well known
short stories. The narrator of Edgar Allan Poe s short story The Tell Tale Heartsuffers from the
mental illness schizophrenia, which in turn causes him to fixate on murdering the old man and
motivates his actions throughout the whole story.
In the story The Tell Tale Heart the narrator tries to convince the readers that he is not insane by

Catatonia is associated with mental diseases, usually schizophrenia, and involves the subject to
be abnormally still. The narrator of the story for sure has this symptom. In the story he states It
took me an hour to place my whole head within the opening so far that I could see him as he lay
upon his bed (Poe). A person without the symptom catatonia would have quickly became bored
or would have opened the door quicker and hoped that the old man did not wake from his
slumber. Later on in the story he claims [After awakening the old man] I kept quite still and said
nothing. For a whole hour I did not move a muscle, and in the meantime I did not hear him lie
down (Poe). This provides another example of him being immobile for an extremely long period
of time. His catatonia is obviously not in the advanced stage because he is only immobile for a
short period of time. In the advanced stages people could possibly become still for days, weeks,

Should the United States congress adopt the presumed consent method for organ donations?
Introduction to Policy Controversy The current system of the United States as well as most of
Europe for organ obtaining is through presumed refusal, which is also known as the opt in system.
In this system a person s organs cannot and, will not be removed from his/her postmortem body
unless he/she has explicitly consented to this being done. (Taylor 383) Under this system, citizens
must opt in to become organ donors by registering to become donors. Consequently, this method of
obtaining organs does not produce very many organs up for donation. This is true for a variety of
reasons, which is why many are suggesting the United States should adopt a new system of
presumed consent. Totally opposed to presumed refusal, under presumed consent it is presumed
that persons would prefer to donate their organs for transplantation after their death (Taylor 383).
Perspectives on Existing Social Problems
Presumed consent is also referred to as the opt out system because individuals would have the
option of opting out of the system and not donating their organs. On a moral level, the debate
between presumed refusal and presumed consent seeks to achieve the fundamental goal of organ
donation. The goal is to show that their respective systems of organ obtainment are morally and
economically superior to the other methods.

Violent Crime Issues
Violent crime has been a part of history since centuries ago. Early Romans and Greeks witnessed
a good rate of crime which lead to development of punishments and written laws such as the Draco
s code and later came ethical issues. As the time passed, new laws were created as human nature got
creative with crime. Constitutions were laid and documented. The United States constitution was
adopted from the English code of laws. Yet the most significant change was the development of
police. The role of police has been very questionable in the past years. There has been a lot of
tension between community and police. It is very disappointing that despite strong laws and police
force heinous crimes still occur. In the past couple years, the major adversarial crime the United
States has been dealing with is the mass shootings. Some of the prime examples of such shootings
are Sandy hook elementary shooting, San Bernardino shooting, Virginia Tech campus shooting and
Orlando, Florida shooting which occurred before the year 2017. Nevertheless, little did we know

As tennis players we all strive to have the very best strokes and hit the ball as hard and as

Normative Ethical Relativism
The objective of this essay is to provide reasons as to why normative ethical relativism provides an
unattractive view on the nature of morality and why it should be rejected. In order to see this
negative relationship, this essay will identify three features of this theory that makes it problematic.
The first problematic feature of normative ethical relativism is based on the claim that moral
principles cannot be validated on a universal level. This means that different cultures should be free
to establish their own principles and basic values as a foundation for morality. As a result, correct
moral principles are based on the views of the majority or predominant population. Therefore it
would be wrong for any minority group to criticise against the moral views held by the majority
population in a society at any given time because the minority will always be wrong in virtue by
default because they hold the minority view. It is easy to see why this feature is problematic. This
feature in practice leads to inequality and unfairness towards the people within a society. This may
result in minorities being faced with a great danger of being oppressed by the majority. An example
of this is Nazi Germany and the holocaust. This feature is contradictory with the main message
behind normative ethical relativism in terms promoting equality among all.
Because minority criticism against the views of the majority does happen, this feature of normative
ethical relativism is criticized

Diversification is severely meaningful in the American Stock Exchange, and you need to know

medical industries, you would choose several different industries to spread out the risk. You use

  • 2. Acid Rain Acidification of the surface of the water is a major problem in areas of the northeastern United States, in eastern Canada, and in southern Scandinavia, it also occurs in other parts of the world as well (Baker Schofield, 1982). The acidification on the surface of water causes many fish populations to decline in soft water aquatic environments, that are exposed to acidprecipitation (Neville Campell, 1988). This acidification of the surface water is caused by acid rain. Acid rain or otherwise known as acid deposition is a term that includes any form of precipitation with acidic components, such as sulfuric or nitric acid that comes down from the atmosphere in wet or dry forms. These forms include rain, snow, fog, hail or even dust that can be acidic. Acid rain is caused by when sulfur dioxide(SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) are put into the atmosphere and then transported by wind and air currents. Sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides react with water, oxygenand other chemicals to form sulfuric and nitric acids. These chemicals then mix with water and other materials before falling into the ground. A small portion of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides can cause acid rain from natural sources like volcanoes, but most of it comes from the burning of fossil fuel (Feely, et al., 2010). Sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are two of the major sources associated towards acid rain. Atmospheric deposition of the sulfur and nitrogen molecules is derived from coal fired ... • 3. Augustine Of Hippo ( 354-430 ) Augustine of Hippo (354 430) was a North African man who took an extremely tumultuous path to sainthood. In his early years, he led a crazy and immoral lifestyle. A driven professor of rhetoric, Augustine s had lofty worldly goals and a weak sense of conscience. His intense drive to be successful would later create a major problem for him when trying to fully give his life to God. At an early age, Augustine began thinking his mother s strong sense of Christianitywas too uneducated for him. Because he was used to his scholarly readings, he found the Bible to be written in an extremely unsophisticated way. This, along with questions behind the truth of the Old Testament, led him to convert to Manichaean beliefs as a young man.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of his dealings with Faustus, Augustine learns an important lesson that content is more important than delivery when looking for spiritual truth. During Augustine s time as a Manichaean, he converses with Faustus, a North African sage who is known to be extremely persuasive in Manichaean beliefs. This takes place when Augustine is in Carthage at age twenty nine. Augustine truly admires his eloquence in speaking, and he was delighted by the force and feeling he brought to his discourse (Confessions V.vi.11). He is also impressed by Faustus modesty because of the fact that Faustus will readily admit his lack of knowledge in certain subjects and won t proceed in an argument or explanation unless he has sufficient knowledge. However, Augustine realizes that this lack of training in liberal arts that Faustus exhibits leads to his inability to sufficiently answer the questions that Augustine has about certain Manichaean beliefs (V.vii.12). Augustine is one of the few people that is able to see through Faustus articulate and educated speech and realize that the content is lacking. Because of this, Faustus, who had been for many a snare of death (Ps. 17:6), without his will or knowledge had begun to loosen the bond by which [Augustine] had been captured (V.vii.13). Augustine s conclusion that Faustus persuasive power wasn t rooted in substance but in his eloquent discourse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With each resource center having its own focus, the guidelines to a distinguished resource center can remain the same but the focus being different. Business resource centers have a list of guidelines to what makes one effective which can include space, affordability, counseling and education. The Mitchell Collegeof Business Learning Resource Center can be seen as effective with its view in these four areas. To illustrate the Mitchell College of Business Learning Resource Center s effectiveness, one has to first look at the space accommodation. The counseling services provided through the librarians and the group studies with other students helps to bring stability when searching for pertinent information in certain areas. Other business research centers tend to have these same services, some on much larger scales when dealing with vast amounts of information in different field studies and focuses in business. The benefit of the Learning Research Center is that it is a part of a college which helps the students focus on a specific study through their classes and help with the education part of the Learning Resource Center. For instance, having information is a key to learning but without the knowledge to use that information it is useless. Classes with a study into a specific field help to disperse information into different groups of studies helping to alleviate trivial information determined by that specific field. In other words, studying one field in business can help to address what information is needed when researching and what information is not needed. The Mitchell College of Business and the Learning Research Center work hand in hand to accomplish this understanding. Some business research centers might lack this but have other substitutions for this service or might have a much bigger operation in terms of classes but this is another feature that affects the affordability. In the end, when doing a full evaluation based off the four different criteria to make a business research center ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Mine Resistant Ambush Protective The Mine Resistant Ambush Protective (MRAP) program featured remarkable speed of development and production at the time the United States shifted its counterinsurgency strategy in Iraq. The controversy over the MRAP program revolved around the three year delay from when the field initially identified its need until its production. This paper asserts that while MRAP development and production speed was impressive, the slow reaction to the enemy s Improvised Explosive Device(IED) capability and the lack of doctrine and concept development led to delay. To support this position, this essay describes the strategic environment with its competing efforts, and it compares the MRAP acquisition to normal Major Defense Acquisition Programs (MDAP). Furthermore, it recommends rapid acquisition of other MDAPs of equivalent strategic importance and urgency, and it highlights the key roles of senior leaders, the Services and the CCMDs within the MRAP acquisition process. The strategic environment of the MRAP program spanned from 2003 through 2008. It began when General Abizaid, Commander of U.S. Central Command, declared that IEDs were the No. 1 threat. This declaration from one Combatant Commander (CCDR) was far short of the fundamentals required to develop a joint concept and its subsequent solutions. Although MRAPs seemingly provided a solution to an enemy capability, there was no joint concept that was idea focused, collaboratively developed and assessed, or rigorously evaluated. ... • 6. How Does Dumas Deserve The Count Of Monte Cristo The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas that centers around the wrongly convicted Edmond Dantes and how he takes revenge on those who convicted him while also rewarding those who took care of his father while he was imprisoned. Despite being poorly reviewed by scholars, this novel is still popular with the general public and is considered to be Dumas masterpiece. After reading this novel, it is obvious that it does deserve the title of masterpiece . Dumas work is absolutely genius in The Count of Monte Cristo, however the book itself is not untouchable like the Count himself. The story itself is the epitome of romanticism, but it is only hindered by Dumas paid by the word length descriptions. Bryan Aubrey addresses the philosophical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Saintsbury states that there is no attempt at an impression of growing horror culminating in the horrible death of Madame de Villefort and her child. The interest is frittered away in endless details and episodes (Saintsbury 1). I agree that Dumas was far too generous in his descriptions and often times these descriptions eliminated all sort of mystery or suspense in certain events. In fact, many of the events that were supposed to be suspenseful were drowned out by massive amounts of words to describe one scene. The depiction of Villefort s apartment was written as, in order to call Edouard, he had to awaken the echoes of that apartment transformed into a coffin; to speak was to violate the silence of the tomb (Dumas 483). the description of the apartment does provide a sense of creepiness, but the sheer circumlocution takes away from the overall feeling of terror and suspense. However, even without suspense, the novel still maintained my interest as vivid images of the scenes were still available rather than being replaced with something vague. Saintsbury suggests that the dangerous method of introducing long recitals by various characters in order to help on the movement and join the intrigue is unscrupulously resorted to [in the novel] (Saintsbury 1). The perfect example is when Andrea says, you, my good man, are my stepfather. But I don t think it was you who provided me with a hundred thousand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Promotional Strategy Suggestions for Exercise Equipment... Promotional Strategy Suggestions for Exercise Equipment and Breakfast Cereal For any product to be sold successfully, especially to the mass market, the firm selling the product will need to be marketed with a promotion. Promotion is one of the four elements of the marketing mix, referring to the way in which a product is promoted this is more than just advertising, it includes public relations, endorsement and any activity which will help to increase awareness of the product and support the development of sales (Hooley et al, 2007). Promotional strategies are required in order to create awareness in the potential target market regarding the product, and to help stimulate sales by influencing the decision making process (Kotler and Keller, 2011). In order to demonstrate the application of promotion strategies to different products can be examined, with promotional strategies those products suggested. The two products are exercise equipment and breakfast cereals. Exercise Equipment Designing a commercial strategy to exercise equipment requires the marketer to identify the message that will suitably communicate not only the purpose and function of the product being sold, but why and how it will satisfy needs of the consumer. Kotler and Keller (2011) argue that people do not buy products; they buy the benefits that are provided by the product. This shows how perfectly the makers of this movie have everything timed, down to the credits. Also, the timing shows when the professors assistant and Will are alone and the assistant tells Will how lucky he is to have someone believe in him as the professor does. When Will is trying to solve a formula he writes his work on his mirror with a dry erase marker. The camera blurs out will and focuses on the formula and also does the opposite. While writing the formula out, the shots fade to the same shot but at a different angle creating a feeling that some time is passing by. Also, to support this feeling each time the formula is showed there is more added to it than one can write in the brief moment that it took to come back to it with the camera. Additionally, the benefit of having the scene of him writing on the mirror lets the viewer see him concentrating on the formula and lets the viewer see the formula being written out which shows the viewer how intelligent Will must be, since the formula probably made little sense to him or her. Another effect was a fight scene captured in slow motion. After the fight scene the cops showed up and many flashes of the scene from different camera angles appeared creating a feeling of confusion and made it seem speeded up without it being filmed in fast motion. During this movie many close ups were filmed where the eyes were the only bit of color on the screen. When Will starts talking to prove a point, which is several times through out the movie, the camera zooms in on him concentrating on his eyes. Each piece is told by a speaker that has a vastly different mindset and perspective than the other as well as from a different moment within the time frame of the war. One piece seems to have a pre occurrence perspective while the other has a post experience perspective. Owen believes that the consequences of war are well worth it for England. Brooke on the other hand opposes this and shows the more harsh trials of war. Brooke wrote, Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots, but limped on, blood shod (2036). Brooke in contrast to Owen shows that the war is not worth the suffering of these soldiers, England is not worth the suffering. Although Owen and Brooke share similar underlying themes of soldiers and war, their viewpoints on the matter are vastly different. Brooke seems to romanticize the idea of dying for one s country. That even though the speaker might die it is all worth it and to think about this sacrifice as a well worth sacrifice. Brooke leads with this outlook of the poem with If I should die think only this of me: That there is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England ( ). It is obvious that the speaker believes whole heartedly the sacrifice of their life is well worth it for the country and those who will continue to be alive and part of England. This poem also seems to be spoken by an individual that has not yet been to war. There is no mention of the darker sides of war within this poem as there is in Owen s piece. Death is spoken of without any gore or vivid details. Instead it is spoken about honorably and the tone is rather light especially when compared to Owen s piece. Literature Influence On American Literature A Tale Intended to be After the Fact... is how Stephen Crane introduced his harrowing story, The Open Boat, but this statement also shows that history influences American Literature. People wanted a language and writing style that was distinctly American, different from Great Britain. Noah Webster published Webster s American Dictionary of the English Language in 1828. Previously, words pronunciations and spellings differed from area to area. In other words, people made up words and wrote them however they liked. Webster s dictionary made American English more consistent, as well as unique from Great Britain. Abraham lincoln once said, America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. Throughout history, there have been connections on literary works from different times. The connection is that History, current events, and social events have influenced and affected American Literature. Authors, and their work are influenced by the society surrounding them. Authors have used experiences they have lived in or taken out of history to help create and personalize their writings. Writingstyles are also affected by the current trends and opinions of the time they show. Furthermore, Khubilai Khan built schools and restored the Chinese Hanlin Academy, which not only shows that he treasured education, but also showed that wanted the Chinese to continue using their system of learning. Khubilai Khan s actions produced successful outcomes because this academy was comprised of the brightest scholars in China. In addition, he reprinted their old texts in order to restore their history, culture, and philosophies. • 32. Should The United States Congress Adopt The Presumed... Ozair Manji Dr. Moses Capstone 24 September 2015 Should the United States congress adopt the presumed consent method for organ donations? Introduction to Policy Controversy The current system of the United States as well as most of Europe for organ obtaining is through presumed refusal, which is also known as the opt in system. In this system a person s organs cannot and, will not be removed from his/her postmortem body unless he/she has explicitly consented to this being done. (Taylor 383) Under this system, citizens must opt in to become organ donors by registering to become donors. Consequently, this method of obtaining organs does not produce very many organs up for donation. This is true for a variety of reasons, which is why many are suggesting the United States should adopt a new system of presumed consent. Totally opposed to presumed refusal, under presumed consent it is presumed that persons would prefer to donate their organs for transplantation after their death (Taylor 383). Perspectives on Existing Social Problems Presumed consent is also referred to as the opt out system because individuals would have the option of opting out of the system and not donating their organs. On a moral level, the debate between presumed refusal and presumed consent seeks to achieve the fundamental goal of organ donation. The goal is to show that their respective systems of organ obtainment are morally and economically superior to the other methods. Issues for social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The issue we are faced with today is the one of whether or not Mayella Ewell is a victim or a criminal. You will find that in the following paragraphs that there will be a profusion of proof that Mayella Ewell is a victim of rape, and child abuse, by her own father. Today I argue that Mayella Ewell is a victim, a girl living a life of hardship, who was abused and raped by her father, Bob Ewell. Firstly, Mayella Ewell lived a life with limited social interaction and no friends. During Atticus questioning, He asked, A nineteen year old girl must have friends, who are your friends? • 35. Violent Crime Issues Violent crime has been a part of history since centuries ago. Early Romans and Greeks witnessed a good rate of crime which lead to development of punishments and written laws such as the Draco s code and later came ethical issues. As the time passed, new laws were created as human nature got creative with crime. Constitutions were laid and documented. The United States constitution was adopted from the English code of laws. Yet the most significant change was the development of police. The role of police has been very questionable in the past years. There has been a lot of tension between community and police. It is very disappointing that despite strong laws and police force heinous crimes still occur. In the past couple years, the major adversarial crime the United States has been dealing with is the mass shootings. Some of the prime examples of such shootings are Sandy hook elementary shooting, San Bernardino shooting, Virginia Tech campus shooting and Orlando, Florida shooting which occurred before the year 2017. Nevertheless, little did we know that the deadliest mass shooting was about to shake the entire nation. Sunday, October 1 2017 was recorded as one of the distressing days in the history of America. However, this strategy is not always the best and most intelligent one to employ. Tennis is a very unique sport that takes a lot of physical and mental strength, along with unyielding strategical discipline. In order to be a successful player you must resist the temptation of trying to rip every single ball past or through your opponent on the majority of your shots. There are less than 1% of players who can do this and still win the majority of their matches. In other words, the selection of different shots and playing styles are all like a different type of poison, each with an accompanying antidote. • 39. Normative Ethical Relativism The objective of this essay is to provide reasons as to why normative ethical relativism provides an unattractive view on the nature of morality and why it should be rejected. In order to see this negative relationship, this essay will identify three features of this theory that makes it problematic. The first problematic feature of normative ethical relativism is based on the claim that moral principles cannot be validated on a universal level. This means that different cultures should be free to establish their own principles and basic values as a foundation for morality. As a result, correct moral principles are based on the views of the majority or predominant population. Therefore it would be wrong for any minority group to criticise against the moral views held by the majority population in a society at any given time because the minority will always be wrong in virtue by default because they hold the minority view. It is easy to see why this feature is problematic. This feature in practice leads to inequality and unfairness towards the people within a society. This may result in minorities being faced with a great danger of being oppressed by the majority. An example of this is Nazi Germany and the holocaust. This feature is contradictory with the main message behind normative ethical relativism in terms promoting equality among all. Because minority criticism against the views of the majority does happen, this feature of normative ethical relativism is criticized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
