Dropping Out Of School Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of dropping out of school can be a challenging endeavor that
requires a delicate balance of empathy, critical analysis, and a nuanced understanding of the
various factors that contribute to such decisions. Tackling this topic involves delving into the
complex interplay of personal, social, and educational dynamics, which demands careful research
and thoughtful consideration.
Firstly, one must navigate the emotional aspect of dropping out, understanding the unique
challenges individuals face that may lead them to make such a decision. This requires a sensitive
approach to the human stories behind the statistics, acknowledging the struggles and pressures
that students encounter.
Simultaneously, the essay should delve into the systemic issues within the education system that
may contribute to dropout rates. This involves researching policies, school environments, and
socio-economic factors that could hinder academic success. Analyzing the broader context helps
paint a comprehensive picture of the challenges students encounter.
Additionally, constructing a well-rounded essay demands the ability to provide insightful
solutions or recommendations. Proposing viable strategies to address the root causes of dropping
out involves careful consideration of educational reforms, social support systems, and
community involvement.
However, despite the difficulty of navigating these multifaceted aspects, the essay should
maintain a coherent structure and logical flow. Balancing empathy with analytical rigor, weaving
personal stories with academic research, and presenting a compelling argument requires a high
level of writing skill.
In conclusion, tackling the topic of dropping out of school in an essay is a complex task that
necessitates a deep understanding of human experiences, social structures, and educational
systems. Success in this endeavor requires a skillful blend of empathy, research, and analytical
prowess to offer a nuanced perspective on a topic with significant real-world implications.

Annotated Bibliography On Tomboy
Annotated Bibliography Abate, Michelle Ann. Tomboys: A Literary and Cultural
History. Philadelphia: Temple, 2008. Print. Michelle Abate has put together a
scholarly evaluation of the evolution of the tomboy through recent American history.
She examines this cultural transformation of the female persona by examining
prominent characters in literature and film. She writes about the March sisters in
Little Women but also analyzes lesser known characters like Capitola Black in The
Hidden Hand. Her goal is to help the reader understand how the definition of tomboy
has changed since the 18th century and the impact change has on feminist culture the
21st century. She covers the role race and sexuality have in defining the tomboy

The Scarlet Letter. New York: Penguin, 1986. Print. This classic novel is set during
the infancy of this country. The Puritanical community of 17th century Boston
finds the condemned Hester Prynne with a scarlet letter A upon her chest along
with the product of her indiscretion, an infant. Upon the gallows, she is ordered to
reveal the name of the father of her child yet she remains steadfast in her resolve to
remain silent and create a life for herself and Pearl. This decision allows the reader
to understand the tension that the puritan way of life created for all of the
citizens. The novel begins with the story of the narrator and his role within his
customs house duties two hundred years after Hester s story ended. The narrator s
story is a direct reflection of Hester s story and has many of the same symbolisms.
Within the custom house the narrator is surrounded by men who are the
embodiment of do as I say not as I do. He is also isolated within his own community
much like Hester was in Boston. The Scarlet Letter is an example of early drama
that was created by strong symbols including nature vs nurture, evil and original sin.
This work by Nathaniel Hawthorne s is the beginning of the conflict that really began
in the 18th century of intelligence vs. emotions and how society moved away from
Puritanical idealism with the advent of the
Roderick Usher Paranoia Essay
Poe employs Roderick Usher s constant paranoia and fear as an example of how
one s mind controls their fate, his mind constantly occupied by his own death, his
anticipation and prediction of his own death accelerated it to satisfy his own mind. I
shall perish... I must perish in the deplorable folly... I must abandon life and reason
together in some struggle with the grim phantom, Fear (Poe). Through Poe s use of
anaphora of the word I , the character exhibits paranoia of his own physical state and
future. As displayed by this quote Roderick clearly states his belief that his demise is
soon and that it must happen, this results because of the mental instability he
experiences which are apparently warning him of his future. His constant fear... Show

Her decease, he said, with a bitterness which I can never forget, would leave him the
last of the ancient race of the Ushers (Poe). The narrator s exaggeration stretches the
differences between the Usher s and standard families. Roderick Usher s desperation
affects him in a negative way as he only has one relationship in his life for the many
years that he has been isolated for. His dependence on Madeline allows any influence
by her to affect him negatively without any interference. The narrator notes the
striking similitude between the two Usher siblings, as siblings it is surmised that
they resemble each other, but the author draws attention to this detail, as if proposing
another more complicated factor about their relationship on account of anвЂ
alliteration (Poe). This observation advocates an even closer relationship between
the two siblings. Which can provide a better explanation for why she had to come
back from the vault to kill Roderick, as they were twins, which were born together
and must die together. Finally, Stein postulates that Roderick Usher s mental state
cannot be clearly understood unless it is directly related to the illness of his twin
sister. Stein conveys that Roderick s mental illness is a consequence of his
relationship with Madeline. As twins they share the same mind through a certain
supernatural way allowing her unnamed problem to directly affect him. The
relationship between Madeline and Roderick expresses the twin relationship intrudes
Roderick s mind and his dependence on Madeline allows for negative influence on

Social Media On The Rise No Longer Uses Freedom Of
Speech...
The tech savvy generation on the rise no longer uses Freedom of speech through
the press, but rather, social media outlets. Following this movement is Bernie
Sanders, who uses social media as a driving force of his race for the democratic
nomination. Originally, as an Independent Senator of Washington, Bernie lacked the
popularity that some of the other candidates achieved. Sanders then decided to
align his political campaign with the Democratic Party, in hope to achieve the
nomination for candidacy. The practical and successful Legislator campaign
desires to change the current status quo by focusing his objectives on universal
healthcare purchased by the state, publicly funded elections, free higher education,
more protectionist trade policies and a redistributive tax system that raises money
for job creating infrastructure projects (Roberts, Dan). Sanders advocates his
objective to voters all over social media demographically attracting the young white
generation as a result. This paper will examine how Sanders social media strategy
is used to accomplish his objective, by reaching out to his target audience and how
he could use a different social media strategy to increase his audience. As a former
independent socialist, Sanders struggled with informing the public of what changes
needed to occur. Although this is not the case any longer, Sanders explains how
social media has revolutionized a whole lot of things and in many ways it works for
us because the message
Congenital Birth Defects
I don t care if it s a boy or girl. I just want a healthy baby. Advancements in
technology allow parents to learn more than ever about their baby in utero such as
the sex, developmental milestones and potentially any congenital defects. A new
parents greatest fear is that their baby will be sick or struggle to survive; if parents
were able to know their child would be born with a condition that would keep them
from leading a typical life, should they be able to terminate? Having a disability or
congenital birth defect does not mean the same thing for our youth as it did ten,
twenty, or even fifty years ago. The same advancements in technology and science
that allow us to learn more in utero have enabled us to understand genetic conditions

Meiosis is only performed by a male or female s sex organs because the cells found
in those organs, gametes, contain the X or Y chromosomes (Maayan 2011). When
the gametes are producing more cells, they pass on the X or Y chromosomes to the
new haploid daughter cells. Randomly, during miosis I or meiosis II, the homologue
pairs or the chromatids do not separate in a process called nondisjunction (Mader
2015). When this occurs occurs and some new cells will be left with no
chromosomes and others with double the amount of chromosomes. If a woman has
an egg with no x chromosome is fertilized or if a sperm with no X chromosome
fertilizes an egg, what will result is a zygote with only one X chromosome instead
of the normal two ( Chromosomal Abnormalities 2017). If this zygote is formed, it is
called monosomy X or what we know as Turner Syndrome ( Chromosomal

Holcomb, Kansas In Truman Capote s In Cold Blood
Out there is the phrase used to describe Holcomb, Kansas in the story In Cold
Blood by Truman Capote. Capote paints a picture of a small, run down, and
insignificant western town using imagery, careful attention to detail, and diction.
Upon reading, readers are immediately transported to the prairie, where things will
soon become far more eventful. Using imagery, Capote make the slow town of
Holcomb more than a name. He sketches a mental picture starting from a distance
and slowly working its way in. The town is masterfully illustrated as a desolate
wasteland. From the stark old stucco structures to the flaking gold paint, Capote
makes it very evident that Holcomb, Kansasis no in the running for America s Most
Beautiful Town award.
Segregation In The Movie 42
Segregation is the separation of a racial group, community or even a country. In
Brian Helgeland film 42 it played a huge role which demonstrated what happened
after World War II ended.
In the film 42 actor Harrison Ford played the role of Rickey Branch, who was the
manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Rickey recruited Chadwick Boseman who played
the role of the first African Americanmajor league baseball player known as Jackie
Robinson. Rickey was all about the money which meant he did not see black or
white, he only saw green. In the film 42 Ricky stated ...I m in the baseball business,
you and the other negro players, I hope to bring up next year I can put together a
team that can win The World Series and The World Series means money... ... Show

In the film 42 there was a sce3ne where the whole Brookline Dodgers team could not
stay because he was black. (01:29:14 01:33:18)
The film showed what happened at the end of World War II and how the blacks were
treated and why they were segregated.
Similarities: Segregation in Sports.
Segregation in sports was major and it only got worse the day Branch Rickey
recruited Robeson. For example, in the film there was a scene that shows a white
man yelling at Jackie, calling him a Nigger with his son right beside him. The man
s son soon caught on at began to call Jackie a Nigger as well but when the boys
favorite team member hugged Jackie you could notice the guilt or confusion the
young boy had because the man he looked up to was hugging on a Nigger .
Another example was the rule that was set to prevent colored people to play
baseball with the white, that role was like what happened in real life baseball.
I do not believe that the whites should have be so rude to the blacks, i feel like it
was unnecessary to create a rule about not allowing them to play baseball with

Malik shows that he believes that because he s a track star that he can abuse his
education and he should be put on a pedestal due to his athletic status. Malik s
beliefs are later proven wrong, his professor shows him that just because you are
athletic doesn t give you a free pass or guarantee you anything in life whatever you
want you must work hard for it. Professor Phipps kicks him out of his class for
failure to pay when Malik talks to him about being an athlete so that he can stay in
class the professor cuts him no slack telling him he cannot return until his financial
situation is figured out. After returning to the class Professor Phipps is
continuously hard on him. Once Malik gets a bad grade on his paper and the
teacher explains to him that he will not get good grades do to his athletic status

he is hardworking. Safety issues on campus a raised a huge red flag over the
course of the movie. I feel as though a lot of issues could have been avoided , for

situation more professionally. The police beat Malik but let Remi go , when they

Examples Of Property In The Hobbit
The Hobbit s Property Bilbo Baggins has a great deal of problems with property,
his own and otherwise, throughout the book The Hobbit. In this book there aren t
as many rules on property or any kind of retribution when people take or use
property that doesn t seem to be theirs. There are not many exact rules on what
counts as one s own possessions in the first place. John Lockehad many ideas, on
propertyand rights, that influenced his present day and years to come, as examined
and reviewed in the fourth edition of The Philosopher s Way. John Locke s views
on property, of what property is and the rights one has to it, is severely lacking or
blurred in The Hobbit. John Locke believed that all people have the right to
property. Property included one s own body and anything that someone s labor has
produced. The right to one s own body is considered the freedom to live life and
pursue happiness without interference from others. The right to something that one s
labor has produced comes from Locke s idea... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An example of which is the Lonely Mountain and the treasure inside it. The Lonely
Mountain originally belonged to dwarves and within the mountain they mined and
found countless gems and stones which produced the treasure they built up. It
belonged Thror, the grandfather of one of the main characters in the book until the
mountain was taken over by a dragon named Smaug, who ran out all the dwarves,
taking possession of all the treasure inside. The whole reason that a journey was
taken by a group of thirteen dwarves and a hobbit to the mountain was to get the
stone back and possibly slay Smaug. It would make sense to say the stone belonged
to the dwarves because their labor was mixed into it due to the fact the they had to
mine to get to it and they found it on their property which they had also already
mixed their labor
Hotel Rwanda Essay
In 1994, in the center of 20th century Rwanda and under the Belgian rule, one of the
most devastating, polarizing, and reshaping events in history occurred. It is called
the Rwandan genocide. This event was the cause of the Tutsi rivals, the Hutu, killing
over 1 million innocent lives of Tutsi people. The predicament was substantial
enough to be made into a movie in order to spread the word out on what actually
happened during the genocide. Hotel Rwanda, the film, focused mostly on one man
and his family and how they helped over 1,200 Tutsipeople during the incident, but it
also focused on the overall politics of the event and even how it started. One
conversation in the film, in particular, included a journalist and Rwandan at the hotel

In the beginning, before the Belgians took the power, the Tutsi and Hutuwere
relatively uninvolved with each other. They weren t pleasant with each other, but
they also weren t brutal with each other. Tutsi people had different features than
Hutu and also said that their origins are from Ethiopia, so there was always a
shimmer of tension throughout the two groups to begin with. The big tension
however started when Belgian began their rule in 1916 and began classifying the
people by giving them ethnicity identity cards. This officially formed the racial and
ethnic tension between the two groups because now they knew that they were set to
be against each other. Unprofessionally, the Belgians chose a favorite group, the
Tutsis, which they openly and boastfully accepted. The Tutsis were in good care by
the Belgians and were offered great jobs and a high income for over twenty years.
Obviously, the Hutu were upset about the Tutsis getting to live large while they
struggled to stay financially stable. This eventually lead, in 1959, to over 20,000
deaths of Tutsi people. That s when everything physically changed between the Tutsis
and Hutus. Then to make matters even worse, the Belgians resigned from their rule
causing the Hutu to rise to the power and brutally punish the Tutsi
Essay on The Woman Warrior, by Maxine Hong Kingston
The theme of voiceless woman throughout the book the woman warrior is of great
importance. Maxine Kingston narrates several stories in which gives clear examples
on how woman in her family are diminished and silenced by Chinese culture. The
author not only provides a voice for herself but also for other women in her family
and in her community that did not had the opportunity to speak out and tell their
stories.
The author starts the book with the story of her aunt. This story was a well kept
family secret being that her aunt s actions were of great disappointment to the family.

she had a child that was not from her husband. This story gives a clear ... Show more

After so many years of being subjected by other people, she finally took her life into
her own hands and made an attempt to be happy.
According to the book, this woman gave birth to a baby which was a symbol of
embarrassment and humiliation not only for the villagers but for all the family.
Even though this baby did not have any notion of what was going on, she was still
a victim of Chinese norms. This baby also became forgotten being that she was not
given the opportunity to be alive. Kingston s aunt decision of killing the baby, had
to do greatly with the fact that she was girl. As the book states it was probably a
girl; there is some hope for forgiveness for boys . Without any doubt, if the baby
was given the opportunity to live she would have been mistreated and condemned all
her life. She would not have had the opportunity to developed her own identity or
raise her own voice .
Additionally, another example that implies that Kingston aunt had no voice is when
the author states, The work of preservation demands that the feelings playing about
in one s guts not to be turned into action. Just watch their passing like cherry
blossoms (Kingston 8). This sentence can be interpreted that a women s feelings
and wishes were not allowed to be turned into reality or to be expressed. On the
contrary, their feelings and wishes were only allowed to be kept to their selves as if

17 years old and is the daughter of an Australian mother, and a Pakistani father who
is a devoted Muslim. Ameera s relationship with her father has changed a lot because
of him being strict towards her about cultural and religious beliefs.
At the start of the novel Ameera s relationship isn t that good with her father

shows that her father doesn t trust her at all because of a situation. Ameera s brother

Descriptive Concert
Up until this moment, I had never been to a concert from my favorite band. This
concert would be one of the best moments of my life. The concert took place at the
Oregon state fairgrounds in Salem, Oregon. It was during the time when the annual
state fair was taking place. The sky was filled with clouds that only allowed the sun
to peek through on occasion. Sweat drips down our faces just by standing outside in
the humid air. Walking into the fairgrounds dirt, and musty smells surrounded the
senses. Looking to the left and right, crowds of people were surrounding barn
animals to be able to pet and feed them. The strong scent of manure settled in our
noses and pushed us to walk farther into the fair at a quickened pace. We walked
through an area that resembled a saturday market. Booths were set up and the people
inside them smiled brightly at us with clearly hidden intentions behind their smiles.
Sounds of people chattering amongst themselves floated through the air making it
hard to hear the person standing next to you. As we rushed through the crowdpeople
cut in front of us causing our group to get split up several times. Looking above us
a fairlift was moving people from far ends of the park. Legs could be seen swing
forward and back as they enjoyed staring at the ants below them. We rushed forward
to get to the amphitheater as quickly as we could. When we arrived at the
amphitheatrewe are forced to slow to a sluggish pace as people filled the amphitheatre

Manufacturing Of Lithium Ion Batteries Essay
Globally, 78% of mobile phone users have a smartphone (Close Up Media, Inc,
Deloitte Report: Mobile Consumers Check Phones over 80 Billion Times a Day
Globally. ). Lithium ion batteries, which were introduced by Sony in the early
1990s, are the most common battery to be used in smartphones and other mobile
devices due to their high levels of efficiency, their lightweight design, and their
ability to be recharged (Hock, Power Up ). As a result of worldwide demand for
lithiumion batteries, mobile technology producers, such as Microsoft and Apple, are
dependent on the acquisition of cobalt a key element in the manufacturing of
lithium ion batteries at the lowest price possible. In their quest for low prices, these
companies purchase cobalt from cobalt producers that mine in impoverished areas
which lack workplace regulations that ensure safety and fair treatment of laborers.
One of the preeminent cobalt suppliers in the world is a Chinese company named
Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt, and this firm receives a vast amount of cobalt from a
Congo based subsidiary called Congo DongFang International Mining. A majority of
the world s cobalt, 60%, is mined in the Congo (Frankel, This Is Where Your
Smartphone Battery Begins. ).
One need not look far to see the ethical implications of obtaining cobalt from these
Congolese mines. Many worldwide organizations, for example Amnesty International,
have criticized the practices of these mines. Viewing this issue from the Kantian lens,

The Pilgrim Festivals By The Jewish People
There are three pilgrim festivals followed by the Jewish people. Shavuot is the
second festival celebrated. Shavuot is a holiday that is celebrated by the Jewish
community two days in a row each year. Shavuot is followed by the counting of
Passover because the months are variable and determined by observation. Though,
roughly the days of Shavuot fall on the 5th of Sivan until the 7th of Sivan. On the
Gregorian calendar Shavuot is celebrated on Saturday the 11th of June for two days
until Monday the 13th of June. Generally Shavuot falls in spring in late May or the
beginning of June. This Jewish festival is celebrated to re accept the Torahwhen it
was revealed to the Israelite in Mount Sinai. It also celebrates the revelation of the
Old Testament by god and Moses to the Israelites. The Jews believe that this time of
the year is to redeem the Jewish community spiritual beliefs from the oppression of
idolatry and immorality. The giving of the Torah on the night of Shavuot is what
makes the festival significant and special to the community. There is no customary
belief system that acknowledges the Jewish community to be celebrating the days of
Shavuot in a particular place. There is a major percentage of the Jewish community
that prefer spending the two days of Shavuot at home. However, on the first day of
Shavout all women, men and children attend a religious place or go to the temple to
chant or hear the 10 commandments.

Military Accountability Essay
Being late does not make one important. Tardiness is a very unattractive quality
when it comes to most aspects of one s life: family functions, meetings, interviews,
and especially a job. While a family may forgive tardiness, a job will not. Being late
once or twice in one s life is unavoidable. Being consistently tardy makes one
unreliable and shows a lack of respect for other people s time and obligations.
Being late tells others that one person can be waited on, while everyone else can t.
People do not like when their feelings were not taken into consideration, when they

What could have been done the night before? Punctuality is a habit. It s a matter of
creating the routine and sticking with the routine. Punctual people will be winners
everywhere and will be one step ahead of the others. Planning ahead will contribute
to being punctual, less stress, and the ability to navigate around unforeseen
circumstances. This all helps avoid difficult situations as far as time is concerned.
This show of respect will also command respect from others. Someone who shows,
over and over, that they are the master of their time is someone who will be taken
seriously in areas far removed from time management. That foresight and
adaptability that gets you where you need to be, when you need to be there, tells
the people around you that you can handle whatever is thrown at you. When it
comes to the military certain things are automatically expected of a person. One of
the most important expectations is time management and being on time. Every day
there are any number of places a soldier is required to be at a certain time and as the
old saying goes, if you re not fifteen minutes early, you re late no matter the situation.
Some soldiers understand the importance of showing up fifteen minutes prior to an
event or scheduled activity. To others, it makes no sense at all. Extreme as it may
sound, when dealing with the number of people that

in difficult situations. Eat Well s clientele is roughly 75% male, if not more, and
although we have a lot of gay customers, our typical patron is a middle aged,
heterosexual, white, working class male. The strangest thing is that the balance of
power seems to shift, from myself to the customers and back again. Sometimes I
feel violated or threatened when a customer is overtly ogling me, and other times it
seems to enhance my power over them. These are palpable undercurrents that are
difficult to put into words, but are quite clear both to the customers and myself. To
hazard a guess, I d say that the power shifts to me when the male customer in
question is frank about his actions. When he seems comfortable acknowledging that
he is, in fact, leering at me, the ball is in my court. He has, in a sense, conceded his

The Characteristics Of Male And Women In Detective
Novels
In detective novels and films, men characters are portrayed to be the definition of a
masculine male and women are portrayed as the persuasive, and vulnerable female.
The man detective is grounded, straightforward, attentive to detail, and a lone wolf.
Women are portrayed as a distraught, damsel in distress, not independent searching
for a man for support and saving. In the film, The Big Sleep directed by Howard
Hawks and written by Raymond Chandlercreates the character Detective Marlowe
who interest and passion is his detective work. He shows no emotion to not make
himself vulnerable to the outside world and all the people that are connected with it.
In detective stories women are portrayed as being flirtatious using the title of being a
women to get what they want. A damsel in distress is what the majority of women
play in detective novels. They turn to the detective or other men in the story for
protection and guidance. Carmen is presented as a flirtatious, promiscuous woman
but yet evil and tainted.
In the novel Too Many have lived and They Can Only Hang You Once both written
by Dashiell Hammett introduces the reader to Detective Samual Spade who similar
to Detective Marlowe dedicated his time and efforts into solving crimes, catching
killers, and protecting the people s safety. He creates a hard exterior to the world and
shows no sympathy or emotion. There are many similar characteristic traits shared
between both Detective Marlowe and Detective Spade. The man
Fish Selection Paper
Harvesting more desirable species from wild populations reduces the frequencies of
those desired phenotypes by influences that affect selection. Humans have effectively
reduced the average size of fish in the sea by harvesting larger fish and imposing
restrictions that prohibit the harvesting of smaller fish. In response to human fishing
methods, fish have evolved to now reproduce at an earlier age or at a smaller size.
One paper I have selected focuses on humans as an evolutionary force instead of one
particular topic. The paper not only speaks of human fishing methods, but also
mentions antibiotics resistance, weed control in agriculture, and even pollution. In
regards to fishing and how we have proven to be agents of selection, the paper
Social Structural Inequality And Crime
Inequality is not an unfamiliar concept, it has been prevalent for quite some time.
Inequality is growing and more people are experiencing the crisis of inequality .
Many scholars are saying that we are approaching two societies one black and one
white (Walker, Spohn, DeLone, 2016). There are many different types of inequality,
although they all have a similar meanings. Structural inequality can be defined as
when one group of people is given a disadvantage or unequal social status than other
groups of people (Walker, Spohn, DeLone, 2016). Structural inequality can be seen
through many different relationships or social institutions. Race/ethnicity is one of the
largest areas that is affected by social structural inequalities. Structural inequality and
crimego hand in hand. This is because they both can have an effect on each other,
one can potentially be a factor to the other. Race/ethnicity also plays a role in crime
causation. All three of these ideas are intertwined and can effect one another.
According to Walker, Spohn, DeLone... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If minorities are living in these poverty driven neighborhoods that are being
deteriorated and are full of crime, education may be sufficient. If the individuals
living in these communities do not have access to an equal education they are going
to be at a disadvantage. They will then be experiencing another part of structural
discrimination. If these individuals do not have the same opportunities they will
probably be more likely to participate in crime causation according to the Differential
Association Theory (Walker, Spohn, DeLone, 2016). Based on the evidence
presented, impoverished neighborhoods are likely to more suitable for criminal
activity. Due to structural inequality, minorities need to reside in these types of
communities; therefore, they are exposed at higher rates to this behavior. This could
explain why minorities have a disproportionate statistic to

With ESP, the moment the car deviates from its ideal line, ESP takes over to attempt
to prevent a spin.
The car is brought back on course in two ways. First, ESP stability control precisely
regulates the braking action on one or more wheels. ESP can individually brake each
wheel as if you had four feet to apply four brake pedals. Secondly, it automatically
adjusts engine output if necessary. ESP stability control thus corrects an incipient

The ESP has the capability to be turned off by the driver of the vehicle with the push

A Proposal For A Legalization Of Abortion
Executive Summary The purpose of this policy paper is to address the egregious
violation of rights that Ireland has submitted it s citizens to by outlawing abortion
procedures. This proposal calls primarily for a decriminalization of abortion and for
the government to examine the religiosity of both Ireland s political administration
and the cultural view of abortion. The 2013 Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act
fails to protect the maternal health of woman and is failing due to the vagueness in

The Impact Of Technology In Airport Security
Sixteen years and billions of dollars invested in the growth of aviation security after
the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, threats to airport
security continuously progress as the United States aviation security encounters
numerous changes. Since the September 11th attacks, the Transportation Security
Administration, also known as the TSA, initiated their plan to ensure the safety of
nearly 2 million air passengers at approximately 440 airports nationwide. (Carraway)
Although the TSA implemented new training procedures, the aviation screeners fail

It is not logical to invest a significant amount of federal funds into airline security
employment if there is a large discrepancy between their current performances and
expected results. However, technology utilizes a significantly less amount of funding,
but continues to perform its tasks. The Trump administration plans to eliminate three
airport security programs that were implemented after the 9/11 terrorist attack:
Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response program that conduct random sweeps
through airports and other modes of transportation, Behavior Detection Officer
program that identifies potentially high risk individuals exhibiting behavior
indicative of excessiveness then re routes them for additional screening, and the
grant program to support local police at airports, specifically, likely target cities.
(Halsey) These plans indicate that the Trump administration believes that the
termination of these programs will increase the budget for the Department of
Homeland Security, but does not reduce the number of TSA officers at
checkpoints. There is also more funding for the government to invest in other areas
to improve the security for the general public. There is also a current decline in
airport staffing. In this report, the TSA admits that TSO staffing levels fell from
47,147 full time employees to 42,525 between 2013 and 2016; concurrent passenger
volume rose 15 percent in this period, while the TSA only hired 373 workers to

Americans aren t idyll daydreamers; they take the initiative. (Cato.org) In his
statement, Edward Hudgins, the director of regulatory studies at the Cato Institute,
captures the essence of Americaness. Since the publishing of Ben Franklin s
Autobiography in 1790, this definition of Americans as go getters and self made
men has become stock. While Franklin s life story helped define the American
identity, the discussion of what an American is began decades before, as can be seen
through J. Hector St. John de Crevoeur s Letters of an American Farmer. Franklin and

The Yeoman Farmer Ideal has laid the foundation for a national identity that embraces
work ethic, self motivation and reaping the fruits of one s own labor.
Through his journey towards moral perfection, Franklin exhibits one of the
cornerstones of the self made man: the idea that, through diligent labor, man can
raise himself above oppression. According to Crevecoeur, this idea hinges on the
fact that in America, one is free to raise himself above his circumstances, because
there ...are no aristocratical families, no courts, no kings, no bishops, no
ecclesiastical dominion, no invisible power giving to a few a very visible one...
(658) In America, economic success is dependent solely upon virtue and work ethic,
not one s birth name. Franklin furthers the idea that success is a result of hard work
with his can do American attitude. He exemplifies this entrepreneurial spirit in his
proposal to render the Benefit from Books more common by commencing a Public
Subscription Library. Both Crevecoeur and Franklin poignantly include being a free,
self made man as the basement of the house of the American identity, the cinderblocks

get to pick what all goes into our bubble. I agree with that but the people to blame
is the ones who withholds the information we need to challenge us and the things

The Vulnerabilities Of Passwords And Security Essay
Introduction
Passwords for access to personal phones, computers, online portals, and websites has
become very prevalent and the best practice for authentication. Additionally,
passwords authenticate mobile phones, computer networks and databases for many
software applications. However, ensuring that passwords are encrypted, and safe
have become one of the greatest challenges for most organizations. This paper will
review some of the vulnerabilities of the use of passwords and provide controls to
implementation to assist with the management and handling of passwords.
Ineffectiveness of Passwords
We are living in an information driven world today that requires us to protect what
and how we share this information. To access the guarded data or information we
want to protect requires either a password or a pin. A password is a string or group of
combined characters precise in length. Passwords and pins are suppositional, and
more consideration is seriously required. They are the primary defense against
intrusion. However, they can be easily captured and deciphered by cyber criminals.
The security in this area is challenging due to the ineffectiveness of the creation of
passwords and pins. Kirushnaamoni (2013) elicits that making logging in
straightforward and convenient for users and trying to prevent password cracking is
problematic. Cyber criminals will continue to persist and target the vulnerabilities in
this area. Therefore, personally, financial, health and
Social Media Is A Form Of Political Activism
Social media is a form of political activism that has received a significant amount of
debate. Does it offer major value to political parties hoping to gain traction with key
demographics? Or does it simply detract from the real message, creating a giant
distraction that does not turn into actual voter turnout? Pew Research Institute and
others have shown that social media popularity has actually led to improvements in
voter turnoutand that there is a positive correlation between a candidate s Facebook
likes and his or her actual voter numbers. This conclusively shows that social
media has real political value, offering a candidate the opportunity to communicate
a point to many new viewers who may have otherwise never heard the message.
Today, many candidates are using social media to the exclusion of more expensive
methods like TV campaigns, because they are able to gather significant support
with the added expense. Social media has also provided many groups with the
opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings and to recruit new members.
Regardless of what a group believes, it can create a social media account and work
to share its message with others. This may seem like a fairly simple opportunity at
first, but it offers a significant value to many marginalized communities, especially
those with very little money. As social media is free, it does not discriminate against
people who do not have money and can instead be adopted by basically anyone. This
means that
What Do You Do When You re Not Sure
What do you do when you re not sure... so begins Father Flynn s sermon near the
beginning of the play Doubt. Father Flynn delivers his sermon to the people of St.
Nicholas Catholic church in the Bronx in the year following President Kennedy s
assassination. His sermon builds upon a story of a sailor lost at sea who has doubts
about the course he has set and his doubt becomes the metaphor for the community
who has lost its certainty. So, in other words, when someone loses certainty they
doubt about someone or something and want to belief the uncertain is true. To do so
they make anything in their power to find out that their doubt is a belief even if it
means to lie.
Doubt can be a bond as powerful and sustaining as certainty. Based upon a few
indirect details and various intuition, the ultra strict, Sister Aloysius Beauvier believes
that one of the priests, Father Flynn, at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church and School
has been molesting a twelve year old boy named Donald Muller, the school s only
African American student. To help her, Sister Aloysius recruits a young and naive nun
, Sister James, to assist her in monitoring the suspicious yet charismatic Father
Flynn. She also addresses her concerns to Donald s mother, who surprisingly is not
horrified or even shocked by the allegations. She is more concerned about her son
getting through high school and avoiding a beating from his dad instead of what her
son is going through at school. Close to the ending of the play
Computer Science And Artificial Intelligence
Computer Science Computer science can be defined as a many number of
technological variables, but is primarily defined as the science and processes of
information processing in computer hardware and software, as well as its
applications within. Computer science is comprised of many aspects that form a
larger whole, that take a practical and theoretical approach to the capabilities of
computers and how they process input and output information. With computers being
conceived as early as the 1830 s, their capabilities have grown exponentially
throughout the course of the 20th century, with many aspects of computer science
becoming commonplace for the modern consumer. For the purposes of this report, the
aspects of computer science that will be covered are formal languages and artificial
intelligence. Artificial Intelligence Artificial intelligence can be defined as the theory
that a technological system such as computers are able to independently perform
tasks that would normally require the operation of a human being to achieve. The
primary goal of an artificial intelligence system in a machine is to autonomously
make decisions based on its perceived environment and efficiently complete a range
of given tasks. Artificial intelligence in all forms seeks to mimic aspects and
functions of human interaction and cognitive reception, and in doing so, the
machines adapt to these functions and become a standardised system. Such
technologies initially serve as an exemplary

S. Lewis. Lewis, though the joys of the sub genre of fantasy, managed to create an
entertaining story while also upholding and spreading the Christian worldview. One
of his most famous works, The Chronicles of Narnia, is a series filled with magic and
the impossible, but the entire series is riddled with allusions to the Bible, allusions
that fell into place because of his Christian faith. The creation of Narnia (The
Magician s Nephew, Chapter 9) matches the account found in Genesis; the lion
present throughout the series, Aslan, is similar to God and Christ, and the symbol of

Even when the body goes to sleep, the mind stays up all night, telling itself stories.
There is a feeling of greatness and satisfaction in reading and thinking about
different situations, of looking at things form the point of view of another. It is
here, in the art of story and of writing fantastical literature, in which I have found
both my passion and, as I believe at this time in my life, calling. There is more to
telling a story than simply pulling story elements from thin air. In a miniscule
nutshell, it takes, to various degrees, planning, delving into psychology, and
research. A good story takes imagination, work, prayer, and, of course, a good deal
of coffee. It has been twelve years since I first discovered the joy of writing, and
since then, the desire and joy of this action of creation has only grown, much like a
seed of a great oak tree. To me, there are few things that match the euphoria of
writing and completing a story, or even just a chapter in a manuscript. I have a
passion for both writing and reading: indulgences (in the right moderation) which
tend to go hand in hand. After all, what greater teacher for the writer than those who
have written and kept moral standards which they released into
Pipe Bench Project
This project is on building a pipe bench. Most people have no idea what this is.
Well simply put it is a bench that is a combination of wood and metal piping. This
way the bench has a sturdy frame and unique look. Most benches are either wood, or
metal. These benches are set up for the best of both worlds. Most wooden benches
just aren t as durable as an iron/metal bench. Also lost is the comfort factor with most
metal benches. The idea of a pipe benchis all around a great idea. The pipe bench is a
fairly modern design. More and more people across the globe are starting to build
and buy these benches. Parks and recreational facilities are beginning to purchase
these types of benches and use them for their respective businesses. One really...

Pipe benches were used in parks and things of that nature for years. A roughly
estimated time for the start of the design would be around the year 1850, during the
industrial revolution. During that time people realized they could melt down metal
and make it into, essentially anything they want. Although the idea of the pipe bench
didn t come from one specific person, it sort of became a normality. More and more
of them started appearing across the world seemingly overnight. The simplicity must
have captivated the world because of the shear number that started popping up in
major cities at the turn of the 19th century. The design made so much sense at the
time, because companies were getting into the metal crafting business and why not
make a bench with a comfortable wooden seat and a strong metal frame. Cities were
expanding and the idea of large rural communities were beginning to fade into the
past. This rapid expansion in city size caused many problems with space,
transportation, and the need for the public facilities. So bench builders took
advantage of the new, very functional design and started implementing these new
benches all over cities
Dickens Creation of a Picture of Nineteenth Century...
Dickens Creation of a Picture of Nineteenth Century School in Nicholas Nickleby
This essay demonstrates how Charles Dickens, the author of the novel Nicholas
Nickleby creates an image of the 19th century school Dotheby s Hall School for
Boys. Also I will be discussing the conditions of the school, the description of the
boys and the protagonists (Mr. Squeers, Smike and Nicholas.) In the 19th century the
rich students were treated pleasantly because they had the money to pay the school
however the poor students were treated harshly. Also, in the 19th century there was
no social service so the teachers could do as they wished to the students.
When Dickens was writing this novel, conditions in ... Show more content on

In addition here is another quotation an unhealthy looking boy with warts all over his
hands. This portrays that the children are not being given any medicine for any
wounds. Dickens is trying to make the reader create a picture that makes them feel
repentant for the boys.
However, Dickens shows the character Mr. and Mrs. Squeers as the symbol of evil
and violence in this novel. Mr. Squeers has power in the beginning of the story but
through the extent of the novel he looses the power to Nicholas Nickleby and the
children gain hope from Nicholas Nickleby. For example administering a cut with
the cane . This examines that Mr. Squeers has the power to do what ever he wishes
to the children. Mr. Squeers looses his power over the children at the end for
example beat the ruffian till he roared for mercy . This studies how Mr. Squeers is
weakened by one man. Nickleby also uses violence to gain power over Mr. Squeers
Nickelby uses violence for the right reason.
The character Nickleby is shown to be nice, mature and understanding. Nickleby
stands up to Mr. and Mrs. Squeers for example flung Squeers from him with all the
Analysis Of The 1995 Chicago Heat Wave Essay
Durkheimian Analysis of the 1995 Chicago Heat Wave Emile Durkheim was a
French sociologist in the late 1800s and early 1900s who came up with the
concepts of social regulation and integration. These concepts have to do with the
state of societies and how they work. More specifically, social regulation is the
norms created by either formal laws or social pressure. The way people are
expected to live and perform their daily tasks or jobs are somewhat decided by
social regulation. In its most basic form, it s what is and isn t deemed acceptable by
societies standards. Social integration on the other hand is the extent to which the
group or society matters. This brings up the importance of the individual as opposed
to the importance of the society. Strength of social ties within the community are big
influences on how socially integrated a society is. These two concepts helped
Durkheim better form an understanding for things such as suicide rates. Once
understood, these concepts were applied by Durkheim to suicide rates and the
reasoning behind why they are the way they are. Before this though, Durkheim
checked through many other factors such as mental illness, ethnicity, and climate to
see what affected suicide rates. None of these factors correlated with the rate until he
tested religion. He realized that different religions had different suicide rates.
Methodists and Episcopalians had higher suicide rates while Southern Baptists had
lower rates. To find out why he applied
Top 10 Major Record Labels Nowadays Essay
Top 10 Major Record Labels Nowadays. Music and Business Music has several
functions in the society, such as the expression of emotions; creation of joy;
communication; entertainment; integration of a society; and the continuity of
culture. These functions of music make music a human need, which results in
humans demanding for music. The human need or demand for music makes music
a valuable item (good). Therefore, humans (artists) create music as a good that can
be sold for revenues and profits. This is how music relates to business. Music is a
good that many people (artists) and business (record labels) are involved in its
production, distribution, and sale for profits. In fact, musicians have to acquire
business skills that will help them manage their public image, organize for tours
and shows, design their merchandise, and build a loyal fan base. This is how music
and business are related. Main Problems Faced by Musicians Music is an industry
that has a number of aspiring artists wishing to be mainstream musicians. The road
from aspirations to the establishment as a mainstream artist is often marred with a
lot of problems. These problems are failure to attract record labels with demos;
failure to have one s songs reviewed in local and national newspapers and
magazines; failure to attract people to one s show; meeting con promoters, who are
not serious about developing one and one s work, and running out of money in the
course one s struggles. Successful aspiring artists
Should United States Use Nuclear Energy
In my opinion i think we in the United States should use Nuclear power plants. There
is so many safeties and good benefits and so many more positive things that can
come the Nuclear power plants. About Thirteen percent of the world s electricity
comes from Nuclear power plants that emit little to no greenhouse gases. In the
United States saves twelve billion dollars each year for energy costs. These Nuclear
powerplants actually emit fewer radioactive materials into the environment than a
traditional coalburning plants. The main benefit of Nuclear power plants are that it is
more efficient than burning fossil fuels as the amount of energy released from
uraniumper gram is much more than the fuels such as oil or coal approximately eight

In a nuclear power reactor, the energy released is used as heat to make steam to
generate electricity .All matter is composed of elements. The important elements for
our discussion of nuclear energy are uranium, plutonium, carbon and hydrogen.
Uranium and plutonium are involved in nuclear energy production, and carbon and
hydrogen are the main elements in conventional fuels like coal, oil and natural gas.
You can find nuclear energy in the United States has more than 100 reactors,
although it creates most of its electricity from fossil fuels and hydroelectric energy.
Nations such as Lithuania, France, and Slovakia create almost all of their electricity
from nuclear power plants. Uranium is the fuel most widely used to produce
nuclear energy. There is two kinds of nuclear power plants Fission reactors can be
divided roughly into two classes, depending on the energy of the neutrons that sustain
the fission chain reaction: Thermal reactors the most common type of nuclear reactor
use slowed or thermal neutrons to keep up the fission of their fuel. In my opinion i
think Nuclear power plants are safer and a lot more beneficial than any other energy

Michelle Abate has put together a scholarly evaluation of the evolution of the tomboy through recent American history. She examines this cultural transformation of the female persona by examining prominent characters in literature and film. She writes about the March sisters in Little Women but also analyzes lesser known characters like Capitola Black in The Hidden Hand. Her goal is to help the reader understand how the definition of tomboy has changed since the 18th century and the impact change has on feminist culture the 21st century. She covers the role race and sexuality have in defining the tomboy image and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Scarlet Letter. New York: Penguin, 1986. Print. This classic novel is set during the infancy of this country. The Puritanical community of 17th century Boston finds the condemned Hester Prynne with a scarlet letter A upon her chest along with the product of her indiscretion, an infant. Upon the gallows, she is ordered to reveal the name of the father of her child yet she remains steadfast in her resolve to remain silent and create a life for herself and Pearl. This decision allows the reader to understand the tension that the puritan way of life created for all of the citizens. The novel begins with the story of the narrator and his role within his customs house duties two hundred years after Hester s story ended. The narrator s story is a direct reflection of Hester s story and has many of the same symbolisms. Within the custom house the narrator is surrounded by men who are the embodiment of do as I say not as I do. He is also isolated within his own community much like Hester was in Boston. The Scarlet Letter is an example of early drama that was created by strong symbols including nature vs nurture, evil and original sin. This work by Nathaniel Hawthorne s is the beginning of the conflict that really began in the 18th century of intelligence vs. emotions and how society moved away from Puritanical idealism with the advent of the
  • 3. Roderick Usher Paranoia Essay Poe employs Roderick Usher s constant paranoia and fear as an example of how one s mind controls their fate, his mind constantly occupied by his own death, his anticipation and prediction of his own death accelerated it to satisfy his own mind. I shall perish... I must perish in the deplorable folly... I must abandon life and reason together in some struggle with the grim phantom, Fear (Poe). Through Poe s use of anaphora of the word I , the character exhibits paranoia of his own physical state and future. As displayed by this quote Roderick clearly states his belief that his demise is soon and that it must happen, this results because of the mental instability he experiences which are apparently warning him of his future. His constant fear... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her decease, he said, with a bitterness which I can never forget, would leave him the last of the ancient race of the Ushers (Poe). The narrator s exaggeration stretches the differences between the Usher s and standard families. Roderick Usher s desperation affects him in a negative way as he only has one relationship in his life for the many years that he has been isolated for. His dependence on Madeline allows any influence by her to affect him negatively without any interference. The narrator notes the striking similitude between the two Usher siblings, as siblings it is surmised that they resemble each other, but the author draws attention to this detail, as if proposing another more complicated factor about their relationship on account of an†alliteration (Poe). This observation advocates an even closer relationship between the two siblings. Which can provide a better explanation for why she had to come back from the vault to kill Roderick, as they were twins, which were born together and must die together. Finally, Stein postulates that Roderick Usher s mental state cannot be clearly understood unless it is directly related to the illness of his twin sister. Stein conveys that Roderick s mental illness is a consequence of his relationship with Madeline. As twins they share the same mind through a certain supernatural way allowing her unnamed problem to directly affect him. The relationship between Madeline and Roderick expresses the twin relationship intrudes Roderick s mind and his dependence on Madeline allows for negative influence on him to be
  • 4. Social Media On The Rise No Longer Uses Freedom Of Speech... The tech savvy generation on the rise no longer uses Freedom of speech through the press, but rather, social media outlets. Following this movement is Bernie Sanders, who uses social media as a driving force of his race for the democratic nomination. Originally, as an Independent Senator of Washington, Bernie lacked the popularity that some of the other candidates achieved. Sanders then decided to align his political campaign with the Democratic Party, in hope to achieve the nomination for candidacy. The practical and successful Legislator campaign desires to change the current status quo by focusing his objectives on universal healthcare purchased by the state, publicly funded elections, free higher education, more protectionist trade policies and a redistributive tax system that raises money for job creating infrastructure projects (Roberts, Dan). Sanders advocates his objective to voters all over social media demographically attracting the young white generation as a result. This paper will examine how Sanders social media strategy is used to accomplish his objective, by reaching out to his target audience and how he could use a different social media strategy to increase his audience. As a former independent socialist, Sanders struggled with informing the public of what changes needed to occur. Although this is not the case any longer, Sanders explains how social media has revolutionized a whole lot of things and in many ways it works for us because the message
  • 5. Congenital Birth Defects I don t care if it s a boy or girl. I just want a healthy baby. Advancements in technology allow parents to learn more than ever about their baby in utero such as the sex, developmental milestones and potentially any congenital defects. A new parents greatest fear is that their baby will be sick or struggle to survive; if parents were able to know their child would be born with a condition that would keep them from leading a typical life, should they be able to terminate? Having a disability or congenital birth defect does not mean the same thing for our youth as it did ten, twenty, or even fifty years ago. Meiosis is only performed by a male or female s sex organs because the cells found in those organs, gametes, contain the X or Y chromosomes (Maayan 2011). When the gametes are producing more cells, they pass on the X or Y chromosomes to the new haploid daughter cells. Randomly, during miosis I or meiosis II, the homologue pairs or the chromatids do not separate in a process called nondisjunction (Mader 2015). When this occurs occurs and some new cells will be left with no chromosomes and others with double the amount of chromosomes. If a woman has an egg with no x chromosome is fertilized or if a sperm with no X chromosome fertilizes an egg, what will result is a zygote with only one X chromosome instead of the normal two ( Chromosomal Abnormalities 2017). If this zygote is formed, it is called monosomy X or what we know as Turner Syndrome ( Chromosomal Abnormalities
  • 6. Holcomb, Kansas In Truman Capote s In Cold Blood Out there is the phrase used to describe Holcomb, Kansas in the story In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. Capote paints a picture of a small, run down, and insignificant western town using imagery, careful attention to detail, and diction. Upon reading, readers are immediately transported to the prairie, where things will soon become far more eventful. Using imagery, Capote make the slow town of Holcomb more than a name. He sketches a mental picture starting from a distance and slowly working its way in. The town is masterfully illustrated as a desolate wasteland. From the stark old stucco structures to the flaking gold paint, Capote makes it very evident that Holcomb, Kansasis no in the running for America s Most Beautiful Town award.

In Brian Helgeland film 42 it played a huge role which demonstrated what happened after World War II ended. In the film 42 actor Harrison Ford played the role of Rickey Branch, who was the manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Rickey recruited Chadwick Boseman who played the role of the first African Americanmajor league baseball player known as Jackie Robinson. Rickey was all about the money which meant he did not see black or white, he only saw green. (01:29:14 01:33:18) The film showed what happened at the end of World War II and how the blacks were treated and why they were segregated. Similarities: Segregation in Sports. Segregation in sports was major and it only got worse the day Branch Rickey recruited Robeson. For example, in the film there was a scene that shows a white man yelling at Jackie, calling him a Nigger with his son right beside him. The man s son soon caught on at began to call Jackie a Nigger as well but when the boys favorite team member hugged Jackie you could notice the guilt or confusion the young boy had because the man he looked up to was hugging on a Nigger . Another example was the rule that was set to prevent colored people to play baseball with the white, that role was like what happened in real life baseball. I do not believe that the whites should have be so rude to the blacks, i feel like it was unnecessary to create a rule about not allowing them to play baseball with

Professor Phipps kicks him out of his class for failure to pay when Malik talks to him about being an athlete so that he can stay in class the professor cuts him no slack telling him he cannot return until his financial situation is figured out. • 9. Examples Of Property In The Hobbit The Hobbit s Property Bilbo Baggins has a great deal of problems with property, his own and otherwise, throughout the book The Hobbit. In this book there aren t as many rules on property or any kind of retribution when people take or use property that doesn t seem to be theirs. There are not many exact rules on what counts as one s own possessions in the first place. John Lockehad many ideas, on propertyand rights, that influenced his present day and years to come, as examined and reviewed in the fourth edition of The Philosopher s Way. John Locke s views on property, of what property is and the rights one has to it, is severely lacking or blurred in The Hobbit. John Locke believed that all people have the right to property. Property included one s own body and anything that someone s labor has produced. The whole reason that a journey was taken by a group of thirteen dwarves and a hobbit to the mountain was to get the stone back and possibly slay Smaug. It would make sense to say the stone belonged to the dwarves because their labor was mixed into it due to the fact the they had to mine to get to it and they found it on their property which they had also already mixed their labor
  • 10. Hotel Rwanda Essay In 1994, in the center of 20th century Rwanda and under the Belgian rule, one of the most devastating, polarizing, and reshaping events in history occurred. It is called the Rwandan genocide. This event was the cause of the Tutsi rivals, the Hutu, killing over 1 million innocent lives of Tutsi people. The predicament was substantial enough to be made into a movie in order to spread the word out on what actually happened during the genocide. Hotel Rwanda, the film, focused mostly on one man and his family and how they helped over 1,200 Tutsipeople during the incident, but it also focused on the overall politics of the event and even how it started. In the beginning, before the Belgians took the power, the Tutsi and Hutuwere relatively uninvolved with each other. They weren t pleasant with each other, but they also weren t brutal with each other. Tutsi people had different features than Hutu and also said that their origins are from Ethiopia, so there was always a shimmer of tension throughout the two groups to begin with. The big tension however started when Belgian began their rule in 1916 and began classifying the people by giving them ethnicity identity cards. This officially formed the racial and ethnic tension between the two groups because now they knew that they were set to be against each other. Unprofessionally, the Belgians chose a favorite group, the Tutsis, which they openly and boastfully accepted. The Tutsis were in good care by the Belgians and were offered great jobs and a high income for over twenty years. Obviously, the Hutu were upset about the Tutsis getting to live large while they struggled to stay financially stable. This eventually lead, in 1959, to over 20,000 deaths of Tutsi people. That s when everything physically changed between the Tutsis and Hutus. Then to make matters even worse, the Belgians resigned from their rule causing the Hutu to rise to the power and brutally punish the Tutsi

Maxine Kingston narrates several stories in which gives clear examples on how woman in her family are diminished and silenced by Chinese culture. The author not only provides a voice for herself but also for other women in her family and in her community that did not had the opportunity to speak out and tell their stories. The author starts the book with the story of her aunt. This story was a well kept family secret being that her aunt s actions were of great disappointment to the family. After so many years of being subjected by other people, she finally took her life into her own hands and made an attempt to be happy. According to the book, this woman gave birth to a baby which was a symbol of embarrassment and humiliation not only for the villagers but for all the family. Even though this baby did not have any notion of what was going on, she was still a victim of Chinese norms. This baby also became forgotten being that she was not given the opportunity to be alive. Kingston s aunt decision of killing the baby, had to do greatly with the fact that she was girl. As the book states it was probably a girl; there is some hope for forgiveness for boys . Without any doubt, if the baby was given the opportunity to live she would have been mistreated and condemned all her life. She would not have had the opportunity to developed her own identity or raise her own voice . Additionally, another example that implies that Kingston aunt had no voice is when the author states, The work of preservation demands that the feelings playing about in one s guts not to be turned into action. Just watch their passing like cherry blossoms (Kingston 8). This sentence can be interpreted that a women s feelings and wishes were not allowed to be turned into reality or to be expressed. On the contrary, their feelings and wishes were only allowed to be kept to their selves as if

The concert took place at the Oregon state fairgrounds in Salem, Oregon. It was during the time when the annual state fair was taking place. The sky was filled with clouds that only allowed the sun to peek through on occasion. Sweat drips down our faces just by standing outside in the humid air. Walking into the fairgrounds dirt, and musty smells surrounded the senses. Looking to the left and right, crowds of people were surrounding barn animals to be able to pet and feed them. The strong scent of manure settled in our noses and pushed us to walk farther into the fair at a quickened pace. We walked through an area that resembled a saturday market. Booths were set up and the people inside them smiled brightly at us with clearly hidden intentions behind their smiles. Sounds of people chattering amongst themselves floated through the air making it hard to hear the person standing next to you. As we rushed through the crowdpeople cut in front of us causing our group to get split up several times. Looking above us a fairlift was moving people from far ends of the park. Legs could be seen swing forward and back as they enjoyed staring at the ants below them. We rushed forward to get to the amphitheater as quickly as we could. When we arrived at the amphitheatrewe are forced to slow to a sluggish pace as people filled the amphitheatre like grains of

Manufacturing Of Lithium Ion Batteries Essay Globally, 78% of mobile phone users have a smartphone (Close Up Media, Inc, Deloitte Report: Mobile Consumers Check Phones over 80 Billion Times a Day Globally. ). Lithium ion batteries, which were introduced by Sony in the early 1990s, are the most common battery to be used in smartphones and other mobile devices due to their high levels of efficiency, their lightweight design, and their ability to be recharged (Hock, Power Up ). As a result of worldwide demand for lithiumion batteries, mobile technology producers, such as Microsoft and Apple, are dependent on the acquisition of cobalt a key element in the manufacturing of lithium ion batteries at the lowest price possible. In their quest for low prices, these companies purchase cobalt from cobalt producers that mine in impoverished areas which lack workplace regulations that ensure safety and fair treatment of laborers. One of the preeminent cobalt suppliers in the world is a Chinese company named Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt, and this firm receives a vast amount of cobalt from a Congo based subsidiary called Congo DongFang International Mining. A majority of the world s cobalt, 60%, is mined in the Congo (Frankel, This Is Where Your Smartphone Battery Begins. ). One need not look far to see the ethical implications of obtaining cobalt from these Congolese mines. Many worldwide organizations, for example Amnesty International, have criticized the practices of these mines. Viewing this issue from the Kantian lens, once can

Though, roughly the days of Shavuot fall on the 5th of Sivan until the 7th of Sivan. On the Gregorian calendar Shavuot is celebrated on Saturday the 11th of June for two days until Monday the 13th of June. Generally Shavuot falls in spring in late May or the beginning of June. This Jewish festival is celebrated to re accept the Torahwhen it was revealed to the Israelite in Mount Sinai. It also celebrates the revelation of the Old Testament by god and Moses to the Israelites. The Jews believe that this time of the year is to redeem the Jewish community spiritual beliefs from the oppression of idolatry and immorality. The giving of the Torah on the night of Shavuot is what makes the festival significant and special to the community. There is no customary belief system that acknowledges the Jewish community to be celebrating the days of Shavuot in a particular place. There is a major percentage of the Jewish community that prefer spending the two days of Shavuot at home. However, on the first day of Shavout all women, men and children attend a religious place or go to the temple to chant or hear the 10 commandments. What could have been done the night before? Punctuality is a habit. It s a matter of creating the routine and sticking with the routine. Punctual people will be winners everywhere and will be one step ahead of the others. The strangest thing is that the balance of power seems to shift, from myself to the customers and back again. Sometimes I feel violated or threatened when a customer is overtly ogling me, and other times it seems to enhance my power over them. These are palpable undercurrents that are difficult to put into words, but are quite clear both to the customers and myself. Computer Science And Artificial Intelligence Computer Science Computer science can be defined as a many number of technological variables, but is primarily defined as the science and processes of information processing in computer hardware and software, as well as its applications within. Computer science is comprised of many aspects that form a larger whole, that take a practical and theoretical approach to the capabilities of computers and how they process input and output information. With computers being conceived as early as the 1830 s, their capabilities have grown exponentially throughout the course of the 20th century, with many aspects of computer science becoming commonplace for the modern consumer. For the purposes of this report, the aspects of computer science that will be covered are formal languages and artificial intelligence. Artificial Intelligence Artificial intelligence can be defined as the theory that a technological system such as computers are able to independently perform tasks that would normally require the operation of a human being to achieve. The primary goal of an artificial intelligence system in a machine is to autonomously make decisions based on its perceived environment and efficiently complete a range of given tasks. Artificial intelligence in all forms seeks to mimic aspects and functions of human interaction and cognitive reception, and in doing so, the machines adapt to these functions and become a standardised system. Such technologies initially serve as an exemplary

Lin , D.(2014 ) expresses that , Wild animals in circuses are abused because they are required to perform in ways that are not natural to them, such as balancing on stools, interacting with other wild animals, jumping through hoops of fire, riding bicycles, or playing with balls. Trainers usually claim that they use only positive reinforcement, such as food rewards and verbal praise. But, they often react in ways that harm humans. As Alycia ,N. Jesse,M. Allusions In The Chronicles Of Narnia One Christian man who utilized and clearly enjoyed literature both of fiction entertainment and non fiction as a means of spreading the Christian worldview is C. S. Lewis. Lewis, though the joys of the sub genre of fantasy, managed to create an entertaining story while also upholding and spreading the Christian worldview. One of his most famous works, The Chronicles of Narnia, is a series filled with magic and the impossible, but the entire series is riddled with allusions to the Bible, allusions that fell into place because of his Christian faith. The creation of Narnia (The Magician s Nephew, Chapter 9) matches the account found in Genesis; the lion present throughout the series, Aslan, is similar to God and Christ, and the symbol of the... There is a feeling of greatness and satisfaction in reading and thinking about different situations, of looking at things form the point of view of another. It is here, in the art of story and of writing fantastical literature, in which I have found both my passion and, as I believe at this time in my life, calling. There is more to telling a story than simply pulling story elements from thin air. In a miniscule nutshell, it takes, to various degrees, planning, delving into psychology, and research. A good story takes imagination, work, prayer, and, of course, a good deal of coffee. It has been twelve years since I first discovered the joy of writing, and since then, the desire and joy of this action of creation has only grown, much like a seed of a great oak tree. To me, there are few things that match the euphoria of writing and completing a story, or even just a chapter in a manuscript. I have a passion for both writing and reading: indulgences (in the right moderation) which tend to go hand in hand. After all, what greater teacher for the writer than those who have written and kept moral standards which they released into
  • 43. Pipe Bench Project This project is on building a pipe bench. Most people have no idea what this is. Well simply put it is a bench that is a combination of wood and metal piping. This way the bench has a sturdy frame and unique look. Most benches are either wood, or metal. These benches are set up for the best of both worlds. Most wooden benches just aren t as durable as an iron/metal bench. Also lost is the comfort factor with most metal benches. The idea of a pipe benchis all around a great idea. The pipe bench is a fairly modern design. More and more people across the globe are starting to build and buy these benches. Parks and recreational facilities are beginning to purchase these types of benches and use them for their respective businesses. One really... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pipe benches were used in parks and things of that nature for years. A roughly estimated time for the start of the design would be around the year 1850, during the industrial revolution. During that time people realized they could melt down metal and make it into, essentially anything they want. Although the idea of the pipe bench didn t come from one specific person, it sort of became a normality. More and more of them started appearing across the world seemingly overnight. The simplicity must have captivated the world because of the shear number that started popping up in major cities at the turn of the 19th century. The design made so much sense at the time, because companies were getting into the metal crafting business and why not make a bench with a comfortable wooden seat and a strong metal frame. Cities were expanding and the idea of large rural communities were beginning to fade into the past. This rapid expansion in city size caused many problems with space, transportation, and the need for the public facilities. So bench builders took advantage of the new, very functional design and started implementing these new benches all over cities

Dickens Creation of a Picture of Nineteenth Century School in Nicholas Nickleby This essay demonstrates how Charles Dickens, the author of the novel Nicholas Nickleby creates an image of the 19th century school Dotheby s Hall School for Boys. Also I will be discussing the conditions of the school, the description of the boys and the protagonists (Mr. Squeers, Smike and Nicholas.) In the 19th century the rich students were treated pleasantly because they had the money to pay the school however the poor students were treated harshly. This portrays that the children are not being given any medicine for any wounds. Dickens is trying to make the reader create a picture that makes them feel repentant for the boys. However, Dickens shows the character Mr. and Mrs. Squeers as the symbol of evil and violence in this novel. Mr. Squeers has power in the beginning of the story but through the extent of the novel he looses the power to Nicholas Nickleby and the children gain hope from Nicholas Nickleby. For example administering a cut with the cane . This examines that Mr. Squeers has the power to do what ever he wishes to the children. Mr. Squeers looses his power over the children at the end for example beat the ruffian till he roared for mercy . This studies how Mr. Squeers is weakened by one man. Nickleby also uses violence to gain power over Mr. Squeers Nickelby uses violence for the right reason. The character Nickleby is shown to be nice, mature and understanding. Nickleby stands up to Mr. and Mrs. Squeers for example flung Squeers from him with all the
  • 45. Analysis Of The 1995 Chicago Heat Wave Essay Durkheimian Analysis of the 1995 Chicago Heat Wave Emile Durkheim was a French sociologist in the late 1800s and early 1900s who came up with the concepts of social regulation and integration. These concepts have to do with the state of societies and how they work. More specifically, social regulation is the norms created by either formal laws or social pressure. The way people are expected to live and perform their daily tasks or jobs are somewhat decided by social regulation. In its most basic form, it s what is and isn t deemed acceptable by societies standards. Social integration on the other hand is the extent to which the group or society matters. This brings up the importance of the individual as opposed to the importance of the society. Strength of social ties within the community are big influences on how socially integrated a society is. These two concepts helped Durkheim better form an understanding for things such as suicide rates. Once understood, these concepts were applied by Durkheim to suicide rates and the reasoning behind why they are the way they are. Before this though, Durkheim checked through many other factors such as mental illness, ethnicity, and climate to see what affected suicide rates. None of these factors correlated with the rate until he tested religion. He realized that different religions had different suicide rates. Methodists and Episcopalians had higher suicide rates while Southern Baptists had lower rates. To find out why he applied

You can find nuclear energy in the United States has more than 100 reactors, although it creates most of its electricity from fossil fuels and hydroelectric energy. Nations such as Lithuania, France, and Slovakia create almost all of their electricity from nuclear power plants. Uranium is the fuel most widely used to produce nuclear energy. There is two kinds of nuclear power plants Fission reactors can be divided roughly into two classes, depending on the energy of the neutrons that sustain the fission chain reaction: Thermal reactors the most common type of nuclear reactor use slowed or thermal neutrons to keep up the fission of their fuel.
