Persuasive Speech About Food
Were you ever once in middle school, and just wanted to do dumb things with your childhood
friends? Doing it to the extreme may have been exclusive to just my group of friends, but I can
promise our friendships will last for the rest of our lives. I remember we would all stay the night
at someone s house. Then we would go to bed at an incredibly late time, and we would wake up at
six in the morning to bike to a tacoshop. This wasn t just an ordinary taco shop, it was an authentic
Gas Station Taqueria. It sounds so stupid, which it was, but for some reason doing things like
riding bikes to get tacos just brought me and my best friends closer together.
Going to the taco shop eventually became a tradition of ours, and like National Geographic
claims National Geographic quotes To break bread together a phrase as old as the bible,
captures the a power of a meal to forge relationship . I think that food in general, but more
specifically just sitting down and eating with people is how you get to know them and develop a
relationship with them. These days most teenagers just sit on their phones when they go eat with
friends, and I feel like that distances us from our peers, which is the opposite of what eating
with people naturally does. These days, eating has become one of America s favorite pass times
and it s thought of as a hobby, oppose to a part of survival. When you do things you love, which
in this case would be eating, with the people you love, then a very special bond

Establishment Of The Environmental Protection Agency

had significant impacts on both the human and sea life populations. During the New York
weather inversion of 1965, over 80 people died from the man made smog over the four day
period. In the Santa Barbara oil spill of 1969, over 3,700 sea birds were killed, along with
countless other forms of marine life. The nuclear reactor meltdown in Idaho in 1961 was the only
United States incident by that time that resulted in immediate fatalities, in which three operators

On April 22nd, 1970, the American public gathered in the streets to celebrate clean air, water, and
land. Congressmen in Washington D.C. halted their activities to be their constituents; however, the
Nixon administration was laboring at what would become the capstone of environmental policy, the
EPA. While Earth Day was the launch of environmentalism in the modern sense, individuals had
been combating natural resource degradation for centuries. In 1849, Henry David Thoreau
published a compilation of lectures, Walden, that would become the standard by which all
subsequent nature writings are judged. John Muir, father of the American preservationist
movement, cofounded the Sierra Club, which preserved California wild lands. Both Theodore
Roosevelt and Franklin Delano Roosevelt worked during their tenure as presidents to save the
National Park System ( Environmentalism ). After World War II, the United States birthrate
skyrocketed, and people found themselves living on the edge of parks and nature. The public began
to question whether the government was working to preserve untouched land for future
generations. When Rachel Carson published Silent Spring in 1962, the era of environmentalism
was born. This movement demanded the state not only preserve the Earth, but act to regulate and
punish those who polluted it (Farrah). The work on the pesticide poisoning of man sparked a
powerful public

Drugs And Psychoactive Drugs
Psychoactive drugs are chemicals that affect the nervous system. When a psychoactive drug is
taken it can cause changes in mood, emotions, feelings and thoughts. These drugs can also change
how a person perceives things and can alter the consciousness of that person (Plotnik
Kouyoumdijian, 2014).
Psychoactive drugs can be illicit or licit, illegal or legal. Both licit and illicit psychoactive drugs
can cause affect a person. Some examples of licit psychoactive drugs are coffee, alcohol, and
tobacco. Cocaine, heroin, and LSD are all examples of illicit psychoactive drugs. In most cases the
illicit psychoactive drugs have some more recognizable symptoms. But both illicit and licit drugs
cause visible symptoms in the people that use these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even after a addict has stopped using a drug they often relapse and begin using the drug again. Both
behavioral and environmental factors play a role in addiction. Some environmental factors that can
play a role in addiction are parents, family members, and peers abusing drugs. These
environmental factors play a role in a person developing an addiction because they are around it
and see it, that is all they know. Genetic factors are inherited. If a parent is an addict the children is
likely to be a addict. People who have an addiction are likely to build up a tolerance against the
drug. Tolerance means a person who uses a drug repeatedly over a period of time, the original
dosage of the drug will not give the desired effect, so a higher dosage is needed to get the desired
effect ( Addiction , 2017).
Dependency
There are two main types of dependency. The first type of dependency is physiological dependency,
this means that the change in the nervous system so that a person now needs to take the drug to
prevent the occurrence of painful withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawals are painful physical and
psychological symptoms that take place after a person who is dependent on drugs stops using the
drug. Withdrawals can cause various side effects that range from uncomfortable pain to fatality.
Some of the symptoms of withdrawal are fatigue, anxiety, vomiting, depression,

Gossip-Based Algorithms
1.INTRODUCTION
Gossip based algorithm plays a major part for distributing simple and efficient information in
large networks. One of the examples of gossip based algorithm is rumor spreading model. It is
also called as rumor mongering. It is introduced by Daley Kendall (D K model) in the context of
duplicated databases. The rumor spreading algorithm is an example of epidemic process. It is
mainly used to examine in the view of mathematics. The algorithm follows synchronous rounds.
The main aim of rumor spreading is to spread a rumor to all nodes in a social network in small no
of rounds. At the beginning of the round, the information is sent to initial node known as start node.
Then the information is sent to all nodes. The node having information will not accept to receive
the information again. While executing the algorithm the graph and degree of nodes must be
constant. In case of dynamic networks, an evolving graph is introduced to study the behavior of
graph and nodes.
Fig. 1 Graph connected with rumors
1.1.Problem statement:
To begin with the rumor spreading algorithm mainly concentrates the broadcasting of message that
is the information should reach all nodes of a graph. Secondly it concerns about the completion
time i.e., within how many rounds the information is reached to all nodes. From the above research
the problem can be stated as :each node transfers the rumor what has but in cases the node might not
be knowing what information that the neighbour

Walt Whitman s Relation to the Romantic Period Essay
The time of Romanticism brought upon many trends extending from the idea of individualism
as a rebellious separation from the classics, an idealistic outlook and finally to a strong religious
base. Most of the writers of the Romantic period followed Pantheism God is everything and
everything is God ... the world is either identical with God or in some way a self expression of
his nature (Owen 1971: 74). The idea of Pantheism was that everything in the world worked in
unity. In some of the works of the Romantic period the expression of nature and humans are not
separate entities, but one in the same. Even though in reality it did not work this way Pantheism
was the ideal of most these writers and idealism in itself was yet another trend... Show more content

In the poem he veers from any pattern and words like, abject louse, and maggot, followed his
reputation of having an angry diction. His work is completely impulsive which was seen as exotic
and passionate, which certainly reflected the period. In his poetry he was said by Norton to stay
away from, making any sense or reason, (Saintsbury, 50).
Walt Whitman also had a strong emphasis on religion as well. In most of his poetry, including
`Faces Whitman tended to speak of sprits and in this particular poem; the Lord and the soul.
The Lord advances, and yet advances;
Always the shadow in front always the reach d hand bringing up the laggards.
(Whitman, `Faces )
The soul is also mentioned earlier in the poem as beautiful, despite the faces he sees which are at
most despising, (Whitman, `Faces ). Whitman was apparently very much intrigued by the soul, he
tried to find a path, to the soul even though he admits that he was not sure what the soul was.
However, he was determined he would find a path between reality and their souls, (Allen, 192).
Like most of the pantheists of his time he wanted to connect many things, reality and the soul; even
individualism and the nation. Whitman quoted, The empowerments of each element of the country
individually but at the same time their merger in the collective empowerment of the nation

Medieval Manor Essay
Liana Minguela
1) Describe a medieval manor. How did it work and what agricultural methods governed its
existence? Was it efficient ?
A medieval manor is a region owned by lords, noblemen, kings, or monasteries and were home to
free and unfree peasants who work for the lord. The size of manors varied, according to the wealth
of the owner, from 120 to several thousand acres including several villages within the manor.
Typical manors had manor houses which were built apart from the villages where peasants
lived.Cultivable land of manors was divided into two sections. The first being the home farm, or a

These roles included labor on the farm. Women worked with men in the fields to cultivate wheat
and grain and harvest crops. Many women were hired as day laborers by lords of great estates,
this backbreaking work in the fields was difficult for women though due to frequent pregnancies.
The women of the house sold produce from their garden or kitchen for cash for their family s
income. Women of medieval society were the head of the household. Women had to learn about
their husband s work so that they can continue to do his work while he was away and take over
his business if he were to die. Widows had their own responsibilities as well as the power of their
deceased husband, proving that the women did hold considerable power in the family unit.
Outside of the household, women were very dominant in the production of ale for their
community. The production of ale was very dangerous since it did involve carrying 12 gallons
vats of hot liquid, 5 percent of women died falling into the vats of boiling liquid. Women also
baked bread, the mainstay diet of peasants. They baked bread once a week and women also made
cheese, where goats, sheeps, and cows were raised. The household was where women spent most
if not all of their time and work. They also helped their husbands with their job. While some say
that the men were the head of the household, more agree that the women were the head of the
household and are responsible for everything in

This site contains blocked messages these were the words spray painted on the back wall of a

simple message of how certain industries have been attempting to push the government to put
more restriction on what information people can share on the Internet. Not only that but pushing
for an increase in the censorship of certain websites and how they let there users interact.
However, if one really looks into the history of this message on the wall, they can see an
interesting correlation as to what occurred on the day it was painted. On the same day it was
painted the New York Times had denied a famous artist from publishing his article about his
opinion on the history and design of a memorial for an infamous event that occurred in New York,
that event being the attack on the World Trade centeron September 11th, 2001. Now were these two
seemingly separate events really connected? Only a short time later the artist released the answer to
this question, when the article that had been previously denied by the New York Times, was
mocked up by the artist and shared with the world proving that the two events were connected.
What could have caused the New York Times to deny such an article and why did this artist feel the
need to write it. In order to understand the following arguments about the subject one must truly

necessarily one after another. They happen all at the same time in different areas of the cell, but
they are usually explained in this order because it s easier. Back to the topic: the citric acid

added and being taken away, like becoming an isocitrate, then being a ketglutarate, and a bunch of

Water is then absorbed by the roots, up the stems of the plant, and brings it through tissues called

The right to die debate has been an ongoing dispute between opposing sides of this controversial
topic. The right to die is the decision made by an individual to die with dignity when they are still
capable of continuing their life with the necessary support and equipment. It is a voluntary decision
by an individual who is regarded as terminally ill to commit suicide with the refusal of any type of
life support that sustains their life. Fatally ill patients who choose to end their own life can do so
through physician prescribed medications.
Brittany Maynard who supports the right to die movement was diagnosed with brain cancer and
when her matter became intolerable and untreatable she took advantage of the death with dignity
law that was passed in Oregon. She made the trip to Oregon where her physician prescribed fatal
drugs and died quietly surrounded by family and friends. Before her death she initiated a campaign
regarding choices by the terminally ill. After the death of Brittany Maynard who became the face of

Transition from Elementary to Middle School Essay
Children confront many transitions throughout their lifetime that can be stressful. They face their
first transition from home to school, elementary to middle school, middle to high school, and high
school to college or work (Schumacher, 1998). However, the transition from elementary to middle
school seems to be harder for adolescents due to the personal changes of puberty. Research
suggests that roles, expectations, and responsibilities are the primary concerns of students (Akos,
2002). In order to make this transition easier, programs such as blocking, shadowing, or buddies
need to be implemented the year preceding middle schooland continue through the first year of
transition.

Another major concern is personal safety. Students worry about aggressive and violent behaviors of
other students (Schumacher, 1998). It is not easy to focus on learning when fear controls your
emotions (Ferguson, Bulach, 1994). Transition programs need to teach children conflict skills they
can use when they are being teased or victimized (Kingery, Erdley, 2007).
Preventive programming is needed to assist students that will be making the change to a new
school (Akos, 2002). The best programs are the ones custom made to suit each district (Dillon,
2008). Three transition programs that are being used by some districts are shadowing, blocking,
and buddies. The shadowing program begins for students the year prior to middle school. Students
from the middle school visit the elementary classes for fifteen or twenty minutes to answer
questions. They also provide sample schedules, extracurricular handouts and demonstrate how to
use an agenda. The next step takes the elementary classes to visit the middle school to shadow
students for a day of instruction. The students begin and end the day by meeting with counselors to
set expectations and answer questions. Some schools set aside extra time to meet with high risk
students. The counselors take these students on a tour of the building to help them locate their
classrooms. During the summer, some middle schools set dates for students and parents to

Causes Of Hepatitis C
Hepatitis C is a form of liver inflammation caused by the hepacivirus, a member of the Flaviviridae
family. It is a highly infectious blood born disease most commonly transmitted by shared needles
among drug users. According to the CDC it affects approximately 3.9 million Americans and
unfortunately 2.7 million of those individuals are chronically infected. Because the signs and
symptoms may not appear sometimes for up to 20 30 years, many people may die from the chronic
illness as the disease has a higher treatment response in the acute stages. Along with shared needles,
other routes of transmission include tattooing, body piercing, needle sticks in health care setting,
and parental infections during pregnancy and child birth. Uncommonly, transmission can occur
through intercourse with an infected person or sharing personal items, such as razors or
toothbrushes, that may have infected blood on them. There has been question whether breast milk
can cause infection, however, there is currently no evidence of this. Many people may not know
they are infected since it can take years for symptoms to appear and the majority of signs and
symptoms typically are related to other conditions such as stress or influenza. Fever, fatigue,

Assembly Line Olympics of History
Assembly Line Olympics of History Assembly lines are a big part of manufacturing in almost
every country in the world. Some work better than others, so an analytical breakdown would be
required to be able to tell which factories and countries are more effective than others, and what
they do to get that way. The function of organized work and division of labor has been around
since ancient times. On the timeline of organized work, the closer one gets to modern day, the
more organized labor becomes, and the more labor gets divided. It started with the three basic
job groups, food, child care, and shelter (Kranzberg, 1). Then, in places such as Greece, Rome,
Egypt, and Mesopotamia, labor was divided up by social classes. The rulers and nobility were
the ones overseeing the work and directing the economy, (Hannan, 2), while the priests held
knowledge of writing, reading, math, and the more scholarly subjects. Next down the line were
clerks and scribes, (Kranzberg, 2), and then merchants and traders underneath them who bought
and sold goods. Then there were peasants, slaves, and lastly prisoners of war who were forced to
work. We can see some similarities of this ancient hierarchy in modern day. The social/working
pecking order of ancient times hasn t faded. We have the government officials, the politicians, the
doctors lawyers, the modern merchants and salesmen, the working class, and even convicts who
work to earn credit or are even forced to work.

The Daoist Outlook On Life
The Daoist Outlook On Life The Daodejing by Laozi is an eastern philosophical piece of
literature; in the Daodejing, the teachings of Daoism are taught. Daoism is a system of
philosophical, ethical, and religious Chinese teachings and practices that focus on living in
harmony with the Dao and ones self. The word Daodejing can be divided into three separate
words; Dao, De, and Jing, which all have different meanings. The Dao means way or path as the
Dao helps guide the individual. The De means virtue , personal character, or inner strength ,
which focuses on self realization, inner peace, and balance; while the Jing means rules or
instructions . Together, these three words can be translated to mean Classic of the Way and
Virtue or The Book of the Way and its Virtue . The practice of Daoism and reading the Daodejing
teaches individuals to flow with life while keeping a balance in all aspects of the their daily life.
Daoism does not make a distinction between metaphysics, epistemology, or other ways of thinking.
It also does not make a distinction between philosophy and religion. Instead, both philosophy and
religion are thought of as one in the Daodejing. For this reason, Daoism is an exemplary type of
philosophy for those who want to focus on their own self realization and development while
keeping in touch with those around them and nature. The Daoist outlook on life focuses on the
relationship between humanity and nature. In the Daodejing, there is a

Verses In a song, a verse is a group of lines that constitutes a unit (similar to verses in poetry).
Typically, a song consists of several verses, and the rhyme scheme and rhythm are usually the same

they have pawned their attitudes and values to one way. Canagarajah offered on her statement what
other authors did not. On her statement she did not lean to one particular side, Christian or non

Leadership And Servant Leadership In The Galileo Seven
In the episode The Galileo Seven , Mr. Spock is in command of a space shuttle craft, which crash
lands on a hostile alien planet. His leadership style and behaviour cause conflict and resentment
amongst the crew of the shuttle craft, as he battles to extract them from the alien planet. Ultimately,
he could save the remaining crew and himself and get back to the USS Enterprise.
The leadership style of Spock can be analysed using several leadership theories that was introduced
during the lecture series such as Trait Approach, Skills Approach, Behavioural Approach,
Transactional Transformational Leadership, Situational/Contingency Approach, Path Goal Theory,
Authentic Leadership and Servant Leadership.
Looking at the Trait Approach it assumes that Leaders are exceptional people, born with innate
qualities, destined to lead. Considering the background of Mr. Spock he was not considered as a
first choice for leadership because captain Kirk was presumed to be better suited for leadership
according to this leadership theory. However, as a lot of other theories suggest a leader cannot be
only assessed by innate qualities. In the mid 20th century, the trait approach was challenged by
research that questioned the universality of leadership traits. Stogdill (1948) suggested that no
consistent set of traits differentiated leaders from non leaders across a variety of situations.
(Nothhouse, 2016) (Stogdill, 1948)
Considering the Skills approach it suggests that leadership is not only about innate characteristics.
Several skills and abilities which can be learned and developed helps a person to become a better
leader.
Based on field research Katz (1955) suggested that effective administration (i.e., leadership)
depends on three basic personal skills: technical, human, and conceptual. Technical skill is
knowledge about and proficiency in a specific type of work or activity. Human skill is knowledge
about and ability to work with people. Conceptual skills are the ability to work with ideas and
concepts. (Northhouse, 2016) (Katz, 1955)
Considering the case of Mr. Spock; in my opinion Mr. Spock was very well equipped with both
Technical skills and Conceptual Skills which helped him to be a successful leader. However, he

Norwegian Black Metal
The Oxford dictionary s definition of Black Metal is a subset of heavy metal music having lyrics
that deal with Satanism and the supernatural . Fans of black metal, or any other music that deals
with the occult, are usually considered outcasts, and some would find it difficult to regard this
genre of music, as Popular , but the growing number of fanatics all over the world, mainly in the
Scandinavian countries, would refute that.
The image in the cover page, is a picture of the three founding members of Mayhem, Per Dead
Ohlin, Oystein Euronymous Aarseth and Jan Helhammer Blomberg. Widely considered as the
pioneers of Norwegian Black Metal, Mayhem will be a focal point of the following paper. The
three founding members are usually regarded as the forefathers of Black Metal. From this image,
several important aspects of Black Metal spring to mind immediately, the leather outfits, spike
and bullet accessories and face paint (also called Corpse Paint ) make up a big portion of what
defines a Black Metal artist or fan.
History and Influences of Norwegian Black Metal In order to delve into the basic intricacies of
Black Metal, we must first consider the history surrounding Black Metal. Why is it that artists and
fans alike of this genre, feel so strongly against Religion, Christianity in particular? Thinking back

Examples Of Class Conflict In The Inheritance Of Loss
STUDY OF CLASS CONFLICTS IN KIRAN DESAI S INHERITANCE OF LOSS The analysis
of The Inheritance of Loss states that the class conflict varies from community to community, and
with time. This is particularly important as the class concept needs to be approached from two
different points of view, from the West and the East. In general terms, of the western tradition, the
word class means a social division. The Latin word classis , a division according to property of the
people of Rome, came into English in its Latin form.
The development of classes (lower class, middle class, upper class, working class and so on) in its

Thus, the concept of class will be discussed as the term is normally understood in the West. This
will also comprise the class issues described in Bangladesh and India. Like India, the concept of
class has proven difficult to define in Bangladesh. Throughout the history Bangladesh has been
influenced by other cultures and nations, including Britain. In these systems there are several
definitions of the various levels in the class structure, but in this the terms high , middle and low
will usually be sufficient to promote the meaning. Otherwise, more specific terms will be used.
Hence, for practical purposes, the traditional terminology of the class concept from a western point
of view will also be used for the conditions in India and Bangladesh. In particular, this is important
when making comparisons, so that central class terminology like class, class identity and class
consciousness can be used without confusing the analysis

Human Genome Project Essay
Human Genome Project
Human curiosity is one of the most powerful engines that drive new knowledge, development,
advancements and life improvements today. Some 100,000 or 200,000 years ago Homo sapiens
emerged, and up to today humans are still searching for answers such as what we are and where
we came from.
For all of the diversity of the world s more than five billion people, full of creativity and
contradictions, every human mind and body is built and runs with fewer than 100,000 kinds of
protein molecules. And for each of the proteins, a single corresponding gene is responsible to
ensure an adequate and timely supply. Genes are often described as the biological blueprints or
recipes for life and are found in the DNA, carrying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But if we are ever to uncover the mysteries of carcinogenesis, if we are ever to know how
biochemistry contributes to mental illness, if we ever hope to really understand the processes of
growth and development, we must first have a detailed map of the genetic landscape. That s what
the HGP promises and what makes this international effort so breathtaking.
Human Genome Background and History
The idea of the HGP was initiated in 1977, when simple and efficient methods for sequencing
DNA were described. Before that time the possibility of sequencing the entire human genome was
no more than extreme wishful thinking. In the 1980 s it was becoming increasingly apparent to
many scientists that an understanding of basic biology would be greatly enhanced if the detailed
structure of DNA was understood. Over the last two decades, automated DNA sequencers have
made the process of obtaining the base by base sequence of DNA easier. In 1984, for the first time
a meeting was sponsored by the Department of Energy (DOE) to address the problem of detecting
extremely low levels of very rare changes in DNA (mutations) in humans exposed to radiation and
other environmental hazards. At that time, it was realized that the level of effort including the
automation of DNA analysis techniques would be similar to the requirements for sequencing the
human genome.

Burtons Case Study Essay
Burtons Casestudy
Managing Change
Ladislas Rice
1969 1975
1) When Rice took over as CEO at Burtons in 1969, the men s clothing industry was beginning
to have a higher demand. Due to the Beatle s era during the 60 s, men became more fashion
conscience. Up in till Rice was appointed, Burton s menswear specialised in made to measure
suits but young males were buying more ready to wear clothes. Competition was becoming
stronger, coming from Italian designers, which offered ready to wear suits and more colourful
casual clothes. Not only were these garments ready to wear but also they were less expensive to
buy. This was becoming a serious problem for Burtons and changes had to be made.
The first decision Rice made was to switch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
St Remy a French company was bought which retailed men and women clothes. Burtons wanted to
expand in France, as the market for made to measure clothes still had a high demand. This was also
bought to add volume to the Burtons factory, as it wasn t manufacturing to its full capacity due to
the slump in demand in Britain. Another acquisition was Evans Outside, which had 76 shops and
computerised stock control systems, which could help Burtons menswear deal with larger stocks
with increased productivity due to the move into ready to wear clothes. Also with the takeover the
retail skills of Cyril Spencer were acquired. Further acquisitions included Ryman Conram and Green
s. Ryman Conram sold stationary and had 75 retail outlets with four manufacturing units. Greens,
then at the beginning of its growth in the consumer market, were electrical goods retailer. In 1972, a
separate property company was established called Montage Burton Property Investment Limited.
3) Rice s strategy of diversification wasn t very successful; as the switch from made to measure
clothes seemed to disappear. A way of showing this, can be done by using the Kaleidoscope
analysis:
Time: Rice tried to change things to quickly which in the end slowed down the process of changing
to ready to wear clothing. His mass of takeover happened very quickly, enough time wasn t taken to
properly assess the companies. Scope: The changes Rice implemented were to

Essay Dualism in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho
The characters in Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho (1960) each have a dual nature that is masterfully
portrayed through character development and use of mirrors throughout the film. The very first
shot in Psycho is zooming in from an open view of the city where it is a bright and sunny day. As
the shot zooms in further and further it comes into a dark and shaded room that shows Marion
Crane (Janet Leigh) and Sam Loomis (John Gavin) having an affair in a undisclosed hotel. This is
dualistic image is just one example of many that Hitchcock has placed in this film. Marion Crane is
the first main character that is focused upon for the first half of Psycho. All that Marion Wants, after

Marion s death is very symbolic and dualistic in a multitude of ways. The fact that Marion is
nonetheless murdered after her self realization suggests that neither she nor the society that
produced her is recuperable (Gottlieb, Brookhouse 362) [Christopher Sharrett 362] Once Marion
had made that fatal mistake to become a criminal, she was destined to die as a criminal, with no
chance of salvation. This is very dualistic of the ending of the frontier, which was right around the
time Psycho was produced. the movement of the film is steadily downward and inward, away from
the feeling of daylight, abundance, and expanse to a nightmarish claustrophobia that exteriorizes
the unconscious mind. (Gottlieb, Brookhouse 362) [Christopher Sharrett 362] The image of the
West being a gigantic open expanse was coming to an end and Hitchcock showed that the frontier
was finished and there was no chance of it coming back. Hitchcock places a large amount of
dualism between the characters of Marion, Sam, Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), and Lila Crane
(Vera Miles). The first couple, Sam and Marion, engenders the second, Norman and Marion:
Norman has thus taken the place of Sam. Yet he has actually, diegetically speaking, taken the place
of Marion, given the mirror dialectic between the sexes and their psychic structurations.
(Deutalbaum, Poague 357) [Bellour 357] The couple of Marion and Sam never got a chance to be
married, but as the film goes through the

Financial Crisis Of The United States
Financial Crisis in the U.S. In 2008, the world experienced a horrific financial crisis which has
been considered one of the worst recessions since the Great Depression of the 1930s. After posing
an enormous negative effect on the U.S. economy, the financial crisis started to spread across
Europe and the rest of the world. The financial crisis ruined economies, crumbled financial
corporations and deprived lives. Over the past several years, financial innovation has presented U.S.

more demanding consumers, and how to take advantage of new technology. Financial crime costs
an estimated $20 billion in losses annually, and the operational costs of compliance continue to
grow substantially each year. Due to the complexity of financial services, detecting and preventing
fraud within the financial world is nearly impossible. The threats can be either domestic or

Ways in Which the Culture Influences the International...
1. Introduction
International marketing or business is uniquely different from the local market because the product
price, place and promotion is vastly different from what is been offered to local customers
(Johansson, 2000) With the emergence of the information technology, cross border marketing has
never been a distant dream. However, it has never been easier even for giant multinational
companies to face challenges that come in international business. The biggest challenge comes
from the culture which varies from country to country.
At its basic understanding, international marketing engages the firm in making one or more
marketing mix decisions across national boundaries. At its complex level, it involves the firm in

Similarly, in any country whether they are Muslim or non Muslim state, when there are Muslim in
the community they have to cater with halal certified meet as well chicken. Therefore, this
cultural factor has major influence on KFC, McDonalds, as well as Pizza Hut or for that matter all
companies who are involved in restaurant and food sector. Hotel chains in Saudi Arabia are been
influenced by the culture of the society and the country. For instance, Hilton hotel chains in Saudi
Arabia and close to the Mecca and Medina serves mostly to pilgrims rather than the tourist. Hence
all activities in Hilton chain needs to be catered to religious cultural activities (Fallon, 2010).
2. Adaptation and standardization
It was in the Fordism era in the early 19th century where standardization was the most widely
used strategy across the industrialized countries (Johansson, 2000). Henry Ford when he
manufactured Ford Car, the company produced only black Ford. Standardization refers a
company providing the same identical product across the globe (Keegon, 2002). Most of the
time they are considered to be global brands (Johanson, 2000). Some of the example that could be
considered global brands is Coca Cola, McDonalds or Amazon. However, they too have some
degree of adaptation in taste or price when it comes to marketing in a different market. According
to Carl Ritzer (2007) in its journal on Mcdonaldization of society, he found out that in the

Income Inequality In Education
In today s economic society, the presence of income inequality has only grown worse and shows
no visible signs of stopping. According to an economics professor Emmanuel Saez, U.S. income
inequality has been increasing steadily since the 1970s, and now has reached levels not seen
since 1928. This calls for an alarm to the people in social groups such as women and low income
families. Income inequality is brought to life by factors the can be influenced by properties of our
nations policies. The economic and public policies in the United Stateshas led to income inequality
due to the factors of education, discrimination, and monopolypower.
In the United States, education has been known cause a larger economic gap for income
inequality to fill and sustain itself. This gap can be directly correlated with the price or tuition
costs of education. According to Catharine Bond Hill, The increased net price that lower income
students face, hurts both their enrollment and completion. The high cost of education causes low
income individuals to receive lower paying jobs due to the inability to receive higher education.
The ability of the federal government to participate in policies have slightly decreased over the
years. When it comes to the reduction of policies, the correlation between an increase in the income
inequality of education can be seen. This occurs because government policies are responsible for
changes such as allocating resources to entities such as education. The

Reasons Why Student Athletes Should Not Be Paid For...
Division 1 and Division 2 colleges provide over 2.9 billion dollars a year in scholarships to
student athletes. Student athletes should not be compensated for participating in college sports.
College athletes can receive full ride scholarships for playing their sport of choice. Is the 40,000
dollars they are receiving in scholarships not compensation; thus prompting the question is the top
tier education they are being provided with, not compensation enough? Most of the thousands of
students that participate in college sports compete for the love of the game, not for a paycheck.
Furthermore, college athletes understand that they may not compete at the pro level, in fact, only
2 % of college athletes go on to play professionally. The main part of the term student athletes is
student. Students do not go to college expecting a check at the end of every month or to land a
spot in the first round of the draft, instead the purpose is to receive an education. All things
considered, student athletes should not receive compensation for playing sports in college because
it would be almost financially impossible, some are already provided with money from
scholarships , and finally they are being provided with an excellent higher education.
Some say colleges should pay athletes because it s a full time job, scholarships aren t enough, not
all players get scholarships or because the NCAA and universities make money off of the sports
teams and players. A big reason the controversy came

This is designed to provide an incentive for people to work extra hours and keep more of what they
earn.
Changes to the tax and benefit system also seek to reduce the risk of the poverty trap where
households on low incomes see little net financial benefit from supplying extra hours of their labor.
If tax and benefit reforms can improve incentives and lead to an increase in the labor supply, this
will help to reduce the equilibrium rate of unemployment (the NAIRU) and thereby increase the
economy s non inflationary growth rate.
Changes to indirect taxes in particular can have an effect on the pattern of demand for goods and
services. For example, the rising value of duty on cigarettes and alcohol is designed to cause a
substitution effect among consumers and thereby reduce the demand for what are perceived as de
merit goods . In contrast, a government financial subsidy to producers has the effect of reducing
their costs of production, lowering the market price and encouraging an expansion of demand.
The use of indirect taxation and subsidies is often justified on the grounds of instances of market
failure. But there might also be a justification based on achieving a more equitable allocation of
resources e.g. providing basic state health care free at the point of use.
Lower rates of corporation tax and other business taxes can stimulate an increase in business fixed

Neoliberalism In Canada
Introduction Unions have a long and sometimes contentious history in Canada, although they are
also the source of many of the labour laws and standards that we have come to accept as normal.
However, since the 1980s, an increasing trend towards favouring neoliberal policies has erased
many of the social welfare and employment standards gains by unions, with particularly harsh
effects on more vulnerable populations including women, immigrants, younger workers, and
Aboriginal peoples. A striking example of these shifts is seen in the restaurant sector in B.C.,
where recent controversies with Canada s temporary foreign worker program has at least brought
some discussions of worker s rights to the headlines in regional and national newspapers.
Unfortunately, despite this new attention the current political climate continues to be hostile to
workers groups and to workers rights. Changes: Neoliberalism in Theory and Practice in Canada

drama with deep psychological approaching in to the world of urban English society in the
summer of 1923, five years after the end of World War I. The book begins in the morning with
the arrangements for a party Clarissa Dalloway will give and it ends late in the evening when the
guests are all leaving. There are many flashbacks to tell us the past of each character, but it does
not leave the range of those few hours. It presents several stream of consciousness devices: indirect

Septimus sensibility is the same as Clarissa s, but he does not control it as she does. She retains
her awareness of reality while she responds to it. Septimus, by contrast, is not always able to
distinguish between his personal response and the external reality in his madness, he feels that if
the birds sing they must be speaking to him; if the aero plane writes in the sky it must be signaling
to him. Even though the two never meet, these two correspond in that they attempt to maintain
possession of themselves, of their souls. Almost all the action occurs in the thoughts of characters,
and, the reader must piece together the story from random pieces of information that Woolf
provides. The point of view changes from one character to the other so naturally that the reader
only realizes it much later. Woolf s characters reveal their depths gradually and slowly; fragments
of thought and memory emerge as they respond to and interact with their environment and other
characters , and from these fragments we piece together each character s past. While most
conventional 3rd person narratives stick close to one character, this narrative gets close to many.
The characters in this type of narrative, especially Mrs. Dalloway are round, this is, are complex,
they have been through a process of transformation throughout the novel being able to in a
convincing way surprise us, as they are built based on various ideas and qualities leaving apart the
idea of the character mind.

Essay On Inherit The Wind
The battle between the relationship of science and religion has always been a controversial topic
in society. It has been a subject of study since the classical era from scientists, theologists,
philosophers, and regular citizens. It is understandable that the perspective on culture and religion
are unquestionably varied due to different geographical regions, but why are there so many heated
debates regarding the global discussion and what is it that causes those controversies? Is it
possible that there is more than two outlooks and theories? Jerome Lawrence and Robert E.Lee
contrasts the two perspectives in Inherit the Wind by bringing back an historical and legendary
trial. Matthew Harrison Brady, an established lawyer in America demonstrates his ideology in God.
Addition to Mr. Brady, his arch nemesis, Henry Drummond, defends his morals by expressing his
vision that evolutionis where human come from.
Some scientists repetitively states that evolution has no conflict between the two debates; however,

Stereotype Threat And Self Handicapping
For the past century, stereotype threat and self handicapping have been of extreme interest to
social psychologists. The reasoning behind why people react in certain ways due to the
circumstances they are in is a huge discussion topic that interests the field in big way. Stereotype
threat occurs when an individual is at risk of confirming a negative stereotypeabout them or about
one s group (Steele Aronson, 1995). Previous research has shown that being the victim of a
stereotype threat can actually alter one s performance (Spencer,Steele, Quinn, 1998). Studies have
shown an effect of stereotype on performance in relation to many different domains. One particular
experiment done by Spencer, Steele Quinn (1998) wanted to observe if the stereotype that women
have weaker math ability compared to men would hinder math performance. The results showed
that being explicitly primed of this stereotype prior to taking a difficult math test led to an
impairment in math performance within women compared to men. This suggests that being the
victim to a negative stereotype can indeed affect one s performance. The previously stated evidence
shows that negative stereotypesmight have a much bigger impact on individuals than we may think.
Previous research has furthered this notion and shown that self handicapping is often used in order
to cope with being the victim of a stereotype threat (Stone, 2002). Self handicapping is defined as
the opportunity to excuse failure and internalize

millions of money than they can ever use have shown a rabid hunger for more (Twain 537).
Although these men are already rich, they want everything they do not already have. Men are
constantly wanting more and doing things to try to fulfill this greed, even when others have

Aquinas Humility Essay
The first tension, as previously mentioned, is the love of oneself the magnanimous person loves to
do good things, but finds satisfaction in being superior to others. Another tension that the
magnanimous person experiences is that although he desperately tries to focus his life on doing
great deeds, at the end of the day, he is left with emptiness. However, Aquinas believed that the
virtues of gratitude and humility in particular could overcome these tensions. In his writings, he
brought up humaninterdependence. At the essence, he believed all humans needed each other, and
that this was a good thing. He asserted that humans are not self sufficient, and we must be
comfortable with this idea because we are a part of a society in which even the... Show more content

He also believed that the virtue of humility could relieve tensions within the magnanimous person.
Although humility seems to be incongruous with magnanimity because one who is extremely
humble does not strive for admirable and outstanding goals, Aquinas argued that when these two
virtues were well understood, they were not just virtues that go together, but exist together. If one
does not have virtuous humility, they will not be able to obtain virtuous magnanimity. This is
because humility helps people create a truthful self assessment of themselves and helps them let go
of passions and pursuits that are not achievable, and instead seek goals that are achievable.
Moreover, humility allows humans to respect others by helping them realize that there are
dimensions to each human being that only God can see; true humility presupposes that each and
every human has hidden yet remarkable qualities that just cannot be perceived with the human eye.
By being humble, serving others and maintaining relationships with equality is easier to do for even
the magnanimous person. At the core, Aquinas agreed with Aristotle that magnanimous people
needed to be courageous and eager to do incredible things, but also believed that they needed to
humble, grateful, and recognize that humans are not God, nor will they ever be able to do what God

Chimera Cather s The Lightning Thief
Books are often the inspiration to well known movies. However, people who love to dwell in a
book find themselves frustrated while watching the movie verse. When people read the book,
they create their own little movie in their minds. People use their imagination to make sense of
many parts of the book. When they watch the movie they are often disappointed since it doesn t
match their expectations. Books can easily project ideas to the reader that movies cannot. It is
difficult for a movie to follow a book precisely because it would be too much to sit through and
watch. Therefore many scenes are cut off. Scenes that is easy to imagine but hard showing.

Percy frees his friends, and chops Procrustes head off. Another challenge was in chapter 18,
where they meet Cerberus, the three headed guard dog of the Underworld. The three friends
reach underworld, and see the way they have to enter is behind a three headed beast. In order to
pass the dog, Annabeth started playing fetch with Cerberus knowing that would distract it while
they enter to see Hades. It quotes in page 314, Annabeth gets the idea to play fetch with Cerberus
using a red rubber ball she stole from a gift store... Cerberus doesn t get to play very much as he
guards the entrance to Hades, watching dead people walk around him all day. Annabeth plays
fetch with Cerberus, until she throws the ball very distant to give them time to cross the gate.
These were the extra obstacles the three had to face. Scenes like these are easy to imagine in the
mind, however, they would be hard to show in screen. If the director were to involve such scenes
in the movie, it would mean more running time, more actors, more locations, and it would cost
more money. In order to not take the burden it was decided to not include such scenes. The
downside of that idea is that, these specific scenes would have made the movie much more
interesting. Sure it would be a lot to sit through but viewers would enjoy watching the action. There
are many things to consider while making a movie, which is why it was hard to include everything

My Goals Are Important And Goals In Life
I usually do not ask myself about what lies forward in my future ahead. We do not realize how
goals can be important and exciting in our lives. It is a distinct thought that we do not often ask
ourselves where am I headed and how will I get there? . Our goals make us who we are and what
distinguishes us from other people. There are moments in our life where we have timeto think about
what lies ahead, and when we do, we worry how we are going to pursue to head to the direction.
There are many pathways to endure it, but it depends all on your mindset that you believe. My
goals are all important to me because they give me a long term vision and I also realize the
importance of the goal and they let me apply this knowledge into my life. I... Show more content on

It builds so much negativity inside that sometimes it can possibly make that person break down a
little. Procrastination is a voluntary delay in a task despite knowing the consequences. It has
become a typical human characteristic. I always stress over the smallest tasks and thoughts
because of procrastination. It would help with building accountability and I will also avoid
building up fear over upcoming deadlines on projects such as this one and hopefully not any
more projects.I find myself demanding to stop procrastinating. People who procrastinate seem
to less likely to graduate and more likely to stress over even the smallest projects assigned. Once
I can get past procrastination, I will be able to harness the fear within me and be able to finish
my assignments more thoroughly and efficiently. The most substantial obstacle is taking no
action at all. It is one of the biggest obstacles to overcome in order to make a change in a new
behavior. My strategy to overcome procrastination is preparing such as gathering supplies,
seeking a tool and making a plan. Avoiding to overanalyze what I need to do and keep it
manageable. Tasks become hopeless when the goal seems far off instead focusing and forming a
habit rather than targeting the goal. Breaking it down to smaller bits of pieces so when completing
those tiny victories, you achieve small steps of motivation. A feeling of gratification. Another way
to minimize procrastination is

Social Stereotypes In Zootopia
Quote: Because he s a sloth he can t be fast
This quote is a great example of a stereotype. Judy made an incorrect statement about a sloth just
because of what type of animal he was. This statement was later proven not true, as the sloth was
speeding throughout the streets of Zootopia.
Concepts
Stereotypes: Generalized (sometimes accurate but often overgeneralized) beliefs about a group of
people. Throughout the movie, there are a lot of stereotypes evident. The main one is that
predators are bad, and prey is good. Many believed in the movie that the predators could not be
trusted after all the attacks that were happening, but that was not true. The rare cases of a predator
going savage was due to toxic flowers.
Discrimination: Unjustifiable negative behavior toward a group or its members. In Zootopia, an
act of discrimination is seen in a flashback when Nick Wilde is joining the Ranger Scouts. In this
scene, the members of the scouts put a muzzle on him just because he is a fox and They cannot
trust a fox .
Situational Attribution: Believing the cause of a behavior is based on the person s situation, not
their attitude. An example of this in the movie was when Judy found out the reason for predators
going savage was due to the flowers, not due to their attitudes or genetics.
Dispositional Attribution: Believing that the cause of a behavior is based on the person s
attitude, not situation. In the scene where Nick Wilde was trying to buy a popsicle for his son ,
Judy assumed that he was a great father. However, he was just trying to hustle her out of a free
popsicle to sell later.
Conformity: Adjusting one s behavior or thinking to coincide with a group standard. In the movie,
when Judy said that she though that the predator s attacks were due to genetics, everyone
conformed to this idea. The prey started to separate themselves from the prey and conform to this
idea.
Normative Social Influence: Influence resulting from a person s desire to gain approval or
disapproval. In the movie, Judy Hopps works extra hard while on parking duty to get approval
from Chief Bogo and get more interesting cases.
Deindividuation: The loss of self awareness and self restraint occurring in group situations that

Transporting Crude Oil By Rail
Transporting Crude Oil by Rail: Overview of Policy Issues and Options By: Alicia Tighe

requirements6 First responder training and equipment7 Overview A rapid increase in the
transport of crude oil by rail will require updated regulations to ensure the safety of lives and
property, a topic that will likely be a key issue in the coming months due to pending legislative
and regulatory activity. In 2013, railroads originated more than 400,000 carloads of crude oil, or
about 800,000 barrels per day, which represents a 42 fold increase from 2008. This trend is
expected to continue as domestic production of shale oil grows, since rail offers a convenient
method of transportation to refineries from these newer production sites that are not well served by
existing pipeline infrastructure. Accompanying this growth is an increasing number of incidents
and amount of property damage, setting records the past three years. Many of the laws and
regulations regarding the shipment of crude oil were created before this rapid increase, and are
inadequate for the unforeseen boom in transporting oil by rail. This document provides an overview
of major policy issues and recommendations on this topic gathered from

American Involvement In Foreign Affairs
A Muslim immigrant shoots his two daughters to death on concerns about their western lifestyle .
The people of the United States are firm believers of this country being the land of the free. Yes,
the U.S. has problems of their own to worry about, for example the poverty and all the hate crimes
going on, but the United States has historically taken on the responsibility on aiding other countries
in need. Although people believe the U.S. should not be involved in foreign affairs, historical data
has proven that U.S. involvement with foreign affairs is beneficial because it results in economic
benefit, more allies, and larger military ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Obama administration did a good job of bolstering Jordan against chaos from Iraq and Syria
so far, but stepping back from the region could still stir up some problems with the neighboring
countries of Jordan such as Lebanon, Turkey, Tunisia, and Egypt. Although it being risky for the
United States, it may not always work to be involved in other countries because of cost and
resources that would be used to stabilize the foreign countries rather than reconstructing them. All
of these countries want and need western economic, diplomatic, technical, and military assistance,
but in order to make that happen, the U.S. needs to get rid of the root of the problem, stating that
no matter how many terrorists the United States kills, if these civil wars don t stop, more young
men will turn to terrorism (Pollack). There are urgent requests from the Yemeni government for
economic reconstruction, which is in a deadly competition with Al Quaeda (C. Chosky J. Chosky).
Hence, the United States could do a better job in foreign nations.
If the American people were at risk of a failed economy, surely American allies would come to the
rescue and help, moreover if the U.S. goes into other Nations, they gain allies along with providing
the other country aid and support. Although the United States has had a respectable amount of
experience in reconstructing countries ever since after WWII ended, the United States has not
really invested similarly adequate

Dicore Case Study
1. External Analysis
In order to understand the environment of the mining industry and evaluate Dicore s competitors
and customers, this chapter will adopt some tools, such as PESTEL and Porter s five forces, to
analyze the external environment of Dicore International.
2.1. PESTEL Analysis
The PESTEL framework is often used to analyze the broad macro environment of an organization
(Johnson et al, 2014). Thus, it is used in this chapter to identify how the trend of drilling industry
can be affected by the political, economical, social, technological, ecological and legal factors.
2.2.1. Political Factors
There were two bans on offshore drilling raised during 1980s in the United States, in response to
the damage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, drilling sites are always located in inaccessible areas that cannot provide a
comfortable working condition. Therefore, it could contribute to a lower level of operational
productivity.
2.2.4. Technological Factors
The overall mining industry profits declining in 2013 came along with the declining of investment,
which may lead to a lack of funds in research and development in the mining industry, and slow
down the innovation process of drilling equipment to achieve faster and more accurate drilling.
Besides, better equipment can also address the issue raised by the bonus pay which often results in
damaging equipment or mineral.
2.2.5. Ecological Factors
The environmental regulations could impose the operating expenses of drilling, particularly in the
southwestern region. To be more specific, the drilling company has to take full responsibility to
reverse any damage that it may cause to the environment.
2.2.6. Legal Factors
More than one licence is required for a company to offer a full range of drilling services in
southwestern region. This may be a slow and complex process and may influence the company s
performance to some extent. Yet it is still much more stable than the rest of the factors that might
change the macro environment.
2.2. Porter s Five Forces Analysis
The Five Forces Framework will be adopted in this chapter to identify the attractiveness of the
drilling industry

Designing A Computer Network -such
There are many things to consider when designing a computer network such as costs of
components, software and labor; communication, cohesion, expandability and many others.
However, the end goal in such an enterprise is to have a fully functional, harmonious, and
cohesive tiered system where duties and actions are divided, and delineated accordingly. One of
the major network architectures used to facilitate this process is known as the TCP/IP Protocol
Suite. The TCP/IP Protocol Suite was designed by scientists in the effort to support a new type
of network known as the ARAPNET that was being installed across the US in the late 60 s to 70
s. (White, 2013, p. 15) The challenge was to create an open system whereby all networks could
freely communicate with each other. The design was based on a layered system whereby the
user would connect at the topmost (or application) layer, while at the same time being removed
or separated from the lower (physical) layer. Although the number of layers is not exactly set,
depending on the source this number can range between five and seven layers, with each layer
providing services to the layer above it. For the purposes of this discussion however, we will
address the five layer model. The five layers of the TCP/IP Protocol Suite are: Application,
Transport, Network, Network Access (or Data Link), and Physical. (White, 2013, p. 15) Application
This layer supports all of the applications on the network. Some of the most frequent

The Witch Trials Essay
In the three documents, Bull Summis desiderantes written by Innocent VIII, The Ant Hill , written
by Johannes Nider and Extracts from The hammer of witches written by Malleus Maleficarum,
regarding the hunting of witches, the beliefs of witchcraft and the trail process for those accused
of witchcraft all show a great deal of evidence that those accused of witchcrafthad no chance at a
fair trial.
In the document, Bull Summis desiderantes written by Innocent VIII, sheds light on how the
catholic faith viewed those whom were thought to be practicing witchcraft. For the accused, there
was little to no hope of a fair trial, for the accusers had already made their minds up on what they

In the document by Johannes Nider, The Ant Hill , the writing suggests an unfair perceived
perspective on women whom practiced witchcraft compared to their counterparts, men whom
practiced witchcraft. By Johannes Nider stating his belief on his example he gave of the man and
wife accused of witchcraft, Johannes Nider described the man as penitent while describing the
mans wife as a, witch invincible to persuasion ( Witchcraft Documents [15th Century] ). Johannes
Nider seemed to be implying throughout his letter, that men saw women as the witch while men
accused were seduced into witchcraft. Men were willing to repent their sins while women were
willing to endure the flames rather than confess the least whit of the truth ( Witchcraft Documents
[15th Century] ). Regardless of whether or not those accused of witchcraft confessed their sins, they
were still sent to death, suggesting there was no fair trial for those accused and found guilty of
witchcraft ( Witchcraft Documents [15th Century] ).
In the document, Extracts from The Hammer of Witches by Malleus Maleficarum, Malleus
describes the methods of getting a confession from suspected witches. Through torture, lies and
enticed confessions, witches were brought to their death without a fair trail( Witchcraft Documents

Camera Angles In Beowulf
An iconic film that has shown the generations of Anglo Saxon culture is called Beowulf, created
in 2007 by Robert Zemeckis. Beowulf is the legendary warrior, he and his men set out on a
journey to Denmark to fight a battle and conquer a foreign beast. During the specific portion of
the film Beowulf, being the noble king that he is, ignored Wiglaf s word of advice to not fight as
it is not a king like thing to do. Secondly, Beowulf stood out in the scene as he removed his armor
and stood tall compared to Fin from Frisian, which represents body language. Lastly, the battle took
place on the shoreline of Denmark, close to the castle, the cinematography included the ocean with
many guards and warriors surrounding the foreign warrior. To begin... Show more content on

Beowulf arrives on the scene with along with Wiglaf right behind, and demand his soldiers to
finish the foreign warrior off quickly. Authority is shown by the specific camera angles as
Beowulf is shown in depth to the low angle shot and also the close up during their engagement
between each other. With the camera committing a close up on Beowulf it shows the buildup of
an important scene coming up and it builds the stage for the viewer. With the camera angle
showing Beowulf with the low angle shot, it resembles his appearing larger and more dominant
than the opponent. His opponent was given the high angle shot showing isolation and having a
lesser importance compared to the king. An over the shoulder camera angle was also used, the
camera goes through Finn s shoulder while he is holding his weapon up high and Beowulf s face
is right in the center dominating his opponent just by verbally speaking to him. Secondly, body
language is equally important as the camera angles are, as body language shows how a character
responds to an event happening. A body has many secret meanings and during this scene, Beowulf
is seen being dominant by taking control of an escalating situation near the shores of Denmark.

The Effects Of Gangster Rap And Appropriation Of The West...
As N.W.A fell into the laps of the mainstream target audience: white, middle class, suburban
males and their angst filled teens, more problems began to arise regarding the misconceptions of
gangster rap and appropriation of the experience of black men in low income cities. Most of the
rap that this demographic would hear on the radio was the lighter Pop Rap of MC Hammer and
The Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff. According to GZA, the founder of the Wu Tang Clan, the label
(Gangster Rap) was created by the media to limit what we can say. We just deliver the truth in a
brutal fashion...They don t like that, so you hear ban this, ban that . We attack people s emotions.
It s a real live show that brings out the inside in people . But many people outside the scene just
associated it with the violent rivalry between the East Coast s Bad Boy Records and the West
Coast s Death Row records that ultimately resulted in the mysterious murders of The Notorious
B.I.G. and 2Pac. However, when Efil4zaggin hit number #1 on Billboard charts, the genre became
more widely acknowledged and accepted by mainstream audiences. Although, in a general sense,
Fuck Tha Policewas relatable to the Every Man in it s dissatisfaction with unfairness it cannot be
separated completely from it s specific context. Although facing discrimination and brutality at the

  • 2. Persuasive Speech About Food Were you ever once in middle school, and just wanted to do dumb things with your childhood friends? Doing it to the extreme may have been exclusive to just my group of friends, but I can promise our friendships will last for the rest of our lives. I remember we would all stay the night at someone s house. Then we would go to bed at an incredibly late time, and we would wake up at six in the morning to bike to a tacoshop. This wasn t just an ordinary taco shop, it was an authentic Gas Station Taqueria. It sounds so stupid, which it was, but for some reason doing things like riding bikes to get tacos just brought me and my best friends closer together. Going to the taco shop eventually became a tradition of ours, and like National Geographic claims National Geographic quotes To break bread together a phrase as old as the bible, captures the a power of a meal to forge relationship . I think that food in general, but more specifically just sitting down and eating with people is how you get to know them and develop a relationship with them. These days most teenagers just sit on their phones when they go eat with friends, and I feel like that distances us from our peers, which is the opposite of what eating with people naturally does. These days, eating has become one of America s favorite pass times and it s thought of as a hobby, oppose to a part of survival. When you do things you love, which in this case would be eating, with the people you love, then a very special bond ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Establishment Of The Environmental Protection Agency Zoe Brown Mrs. Helms English III Honors 7 November 2014 Establishment of the Environmental Protection Agency Environmental disasters during the 1960s in the United States had significant impacts on both the human and sea life populations. During the New York weather inversion of 1965, over 80 people died from the man made smog over the four day period. In the Santa Barbara oil spill of 1969, over 3,700 sea birds were killed, along with countless other forms of marine life. The nuclear reactor meltdown in Idaho in 1961 was the only United States incident by that time that resulted in immediate fatalities, in which three operators were killed ( Learn the Issues ). On April 22nd, 1970, the American public gathered in the streets to celebrate clean air, water, and land. Congressmen in Washington D.C. halted their activities to be their constituents; however, the Nixon administration was laboring at what would become the capstone of environmental policy, the EPA. While Earth Day was the launch of environmentalism in the modern sense, individuals had been combating natural resource degradation for centuries. In 1849, Henry David Thoreau published a compilation of lectures, Walden, that would become the standard by which all subsequent nature writings are judged. John Muir, father of the American preservationist movement, cofounded the Sierra Club, which preserved California wild lands. Both Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin Delano Roosevelt worked during their tenure as presidents to save the National Park System ( Environmentalism ). After World War II, the United States birthrate skyrocketed, and people found themselves living on the edge of parks and nature. The public began to question whether the government was working to preserve untouched land for future generations. When Rachel Carson published Silent Spring in 1962, the era of environmentalism was born. This movement demanded the state not only preserve the Earth, but act to regulate and punish those who polluted it (Farrah). The work on the pesticide poisoning of man sparked a powerful public ... • 4. Drugs And Psychoactive Drugs Psychoactive drugs are chemicals that affect the nervous system. When a psychoactive drug is taken it can cause changes in mood, emotions, feelings and thoughts. These drugs can also change how a person perceives things and can alter the consciousness of that person (Plotnik Kouyoumdijian, 2014). Psychoactive drugs can be illicit or licit, illegal or legal. Both licit and illicit psychoactive drugs can cause affect a person. Some examples of licit psychoactive drugs are coffee, alcohol, and tobacco. Cocaine, heroin, and LSD are all examples of illicit psychoactive drugs. In most cases the illicit psychoactive drugs have some more recognizable symptoms. But both illicit and licit drugs cause visible symptoms in the people that use these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even after a addict has stopped using a drug they often relapse and begin using the drug again. Both behavioral and environmental factors play a role in addiction. Some environmental factors that can play a role in addiction are parents, family members, and peers abusing drugs. These environmental factors play a role in a person developing an addiction because they are around it and see it, that is all they know. Genetic factors are inherited. If a parent is an addict the children is likely to be a addict. People who have an addiction are likely to build up a tolerance against the drug. Tolerance means a person who uses a drug repeatedly over a period of time, the original dosage of the drug will not give the desired effect, so a higher dosage is needed to get the desired effect ( Addiction , 2017). Dependency There are two main types of dependency. The first type of dependency is physiological dependency, this means that the change in the nervous system so that a person now needs to take the drug to prevent the occurrence of painful withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawals are painful physical and psychological symptoms that take place after a person who is dependent on drugs stops using the drug. Withdrawals can cause various side effects that range from uncomfortable pain to fatality. Some of the symptoms of withdrawal are fatigue, anxiety, vomiting, depression, ... • 5. Gossip-Based Algorithms 1.INTRODUCTION Gossip based algorithm plays a major part for distributing simple and efficient information in large networks. One of the examples of gossip based algorithm is rumor spreading model. It is also called as rumor mongering. It is introduced by Daley Kendall (D K model) in the context of duplicated databases. The rumor spreading algorithm is an example of epidemic process. It is mainly used to examine in the view of mathematics. The algorithm follows synchronous rounds. The main aim of rumor spreading is to spread a rumor to all nodes in a social network in small no of rounds. At the beginning of the round, the information is sent to initial node known as start node. Then the information is sent to all nodes. The node having information will not accept to receive the information again. While executing the algorithm the graph and degree of nodes must be constant. In case of dynamic networks, an evolving graph is introduced to study the behavior of graph and nodes. Fig. 1 Graph connected with rumors 1.1.Problem statement: To begin with the rumor spreading algorithm mainly concentrates the broadcasting of message that is the information should reach all nodes of a graph. Secondly it concerns about the completion time i.e., within how many rounds the information is reached to all nodes. From the above research the problem can be stated as :each node transfers the rumor what has but in cases the node might not be knowing what information that the neighbour ... • 6. Walt Whitman s Relation to the Romantic Period Essay The time of Romanticism brought upon many trends extending from the idea of individualism as a rebellious separation from the classics, an idealistic outlook and finally to a strong religious base. Most of the writers of the Romantic period followed Pantheism God is everything and everything is God ... the world is either identical with God or in some way a self expression of his nature (Owen 1971: 74). The idea of Pantheism was that everything in the world worked in unity. In some of the works of the Romantic period the expression of nature and humans are not separate entities, but one in the same. Even though in reality it did not work this way Pantheism was the ideal of most these writers and idealism in itself was yet another trend... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the poem he veers from any pattern and words like, abject louse, and maggot, followed his reputation of having an angry diction. His work is completely impulsive which was seen as exotic and passionate, which certainly reflected the period. In his poetry he was said by Norton to stay away from, making any sense or reason, (Saintsbury, 50). Walt Whitman also had a strong emphasis on religion as well. In most of his poetry, including `Faces Whitman tended to speak of sprits and in this particular poem; the Lord and the soul. The Lord advances, and yet advances; Always the shadow in front always the reach d hand bringing up the laggards. (Whitman, `Faces ) The soul is also mentioned earlier in the poem as beautiful, despite the faces he sees which are at most despising, (Whitman, `Faces ). Whitman was apparently very much intrigued by the soul, he tried to find a path, to the soul even though he admits that he was not sure what the soul was. However, he was determined he would find a path between reality and their souls, (Allen, 192). Like most of the pantheists of his time he wanted to connect many things, reality and the soul; even individualism and the nation. Whitman quoted, The empowerments of each element of the country individually but at the same time their merger in the collective empowerment of the nation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A medieval manor is a region owned by lords, noblemen, kings, or monasteries and were home to free and unfree peasants who work for the lord. Many women were hired as day laborers by lords of great estates, this backbreaking work in the fields was difficult for women though due to frequent pregnancies. The women of the house sold produce from their garden or kitchen for cash for their family s income. Women of medieval society were the head of the household. Women had to learn about their husband s work so that they can continue to do his work while he was away and take over his business if he were to die. Widows had their own responsibilities as well as the power of their deceased husband, proving that the women did hold considerable power in the family unit. Outside of the household, women were very dominant in the production of ale for their community. The production of ale was very dangerous since it did involve carrying 12 gallons vats of hot liquid, 5 percent of women died falling into the vats of boiling liquid. Women also baked bread, the mainstay diet of peasants. They baked bread once a week and women also made cheese, where goats, sheeps, and cows were raised. Looking at that this seemingly innocuous sentence it seems to convey the simple message of how certain industries have been attempting to push the government to put more restriction on what information people can share on the Internet. Not only that but pushing for an increase in the censorship of certain websites and how they let there users interact. However, if one really looks into the history of this message on the wall, they can see an interesting correlation as to what occurred on the day it was painted. On the same day it was painted the New York Times had denied a famous artist from publishing his article about his opinion on the history and design of a memorial for an infamous event that occurred in New York, that event being the attack on the World Trade centeron September 11th, 2001. Now were these two seemingly separate events really connected? Only a short time later the artist released the answer to this question, when the article that had been previously denied by the New York Times, was mocked up by the artist and shared with the world proving that the two events were connected. What could have caused the New York Times to deny such an article and why did this artist feel the need to write it. How can you use NAD+ in glycolysis if you create it the step after? Well random person that I don t know, these steps aren t necessarily one after another. They happen all at the same time in different areas of the cell, but they are usually explained in this order because it s easier. Back to the topic: the citric acid created is now being oxidized through a complicated chain of events with carbon molecules being added and being taken away, like becoming an isocitrate, then being a ketglutarate, and a bunch of other steps until it becomes a oxalaocetic acid all over again giving off a bunch carbon... Photons are light energy blobs that have traveled 93 million miles just to feed you people. The photon ends up smacking into chlorophyll and that energy gets absorbed by an electron then the electron gets all jittery and excited like Chaney eating cookies. The right to die is the decision made by an individual to die with dignity when they are still capable of continuing their life with the necessary support and equipment. It is a voluntary decision by an individual who is regarded as terminally ill to commit suicide with the refusal of any type of life support that sustains their life. Fatally ill patients who choose to end their own life can do so through physician prescribed medications. Brittany Maynard who supports the right to die movement was diagnosed with brain cancer and when her matter became intolerable and untreatable she took advantage of the death with dignity law that was passed in Oregon. She made the trip to Oregon where her physician prescribed fatal drugs and died quietly surrounded by family and friends. Research suggests that roles, expectations, and responsibilities are the primary concerns of students (Akos, 2002). Transition programs need to teach children conflict skills they can use when they are being teased or victimized (Kingery, Erdley, 2007). Preventive programming is needed to assist students that will be making the change to a new school (Akos, 2002). The best programs are the ones custom made to suit each district (Dillon, 2008). Three transition programs that are being used by some districts are shadowing, blocking, and buddies. The shadowing program begins for students the year prior to middle school. Students from the middle school visit the elementary classes for fifteen or twenty minutes to answer questions. They also provide sample schedules, extracurricular handouts and demonstrate how to use an agenda. The next step takes the elementary classes to visit the middle school to shadow students for a day of instruction. The students begin and end the day by meeting with counselors to set expectations and answer questions. Some schools set aside extra time to meet with high risk students. Causes Of Hepatitis C Hepatitis C is a form of liver inflammation caused by the hepacivirus, a member of the Flaviviridae family. It is a highly infectious blood born disease most commonly transmitted by shared needles among drug users. According to the CDC it affects approximately 3.9 million Americans and unfortunately 2.7 million of those individuals are chronically infected. Because the signs and symptoms may not appear sometimes for up to 20 30 years, many people may die from the chronic illness as the disease has a higher treatment response in the acute stages. Along with shared needles, other routes of transmission include tattooing, body piercing, needle sticks in health care setting, and parental infections during pregnancy and child birth. Uncommonly, transmission can occur through intercourse with an infected person or sharing personal items, such as razors or toothbrushes, that may have infected blood on them. There has been question whether breast milk can cause infection, however, there is currently no evidence of this. Many people may not know they are infected since it can take years for symptoms to appear and the majority of signs and symptoms typically are related to other conditions such as stress or influenza. • 14. Assembly Line Olympics of History Assembly Line Olympics of History Assembly lines are a big part of manufacturing in almost every country in the world. Some work better than others, so an analytical breakdown would be required to be able to tell which factories and countries are more effective than others, and what they do to get that way. The function of organized work and division of labor has been around since ancient times. On the timeline of organized work, the closer one gets to modern day, the more organized labor becomes, and the more labor gets divided. It started with the three basic job groups, food, child care, and shelter (Kranzberg, 1). Then, in places such as Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Mesopotamia, labor was divided up by social classes. The rulers and nobility were the ones overseeing the work and directing the economy, (Hannan, 2), while the priests held knowledge of writing, reading, math, and the more scholarly subjects. Next down the line were clerks and scribes, (Kranzberg, 2), and then merchants and traders underneath them who bought and sold goods. Then there were peasants, slaves, and lastly prisoners of war who were forced to work. We can see some similarities of this ancient hierarchy in modern day. The social/working pecking order of ancient times hasn t faded. We have the government officials, the politicians, the doctors lawyers, the modern merchants and salesmen, the working class, and even convicts who work to earn credit or are even forced to work. ... Daoism is a system of philosophical, ethical, and religious Chinese teachings and practices that focus on living in harmony with the Dao and ones self. The word Daodejing can be divided into three separate words; Dao, De, and Jing, which all have different meanings. The Dao means way or path as the Dao helps guide the individual. The De means virtue , personal character, or inner strength , which focuses on self realization, inner peace, and balance; while the Jing means rules or instructions . Together, these three words can be translated to mean Classic of the Way and Virtue or The Book of the Way and its Virtue . The practice of Daoism and reading the Daodejing teaches individuals to flow with life while keeping a balance in all aspects of the their daily life. Daoism does not make a distinction between metaphysics, epistemology, or other ways of thinking. It also does not make a distinction between philosophy and religion. Instead, both philosophy and religion are thought of as one in the Daodejing. For this reason, Daoism is an exemplary type of philosophy for those who want to focus on their own self realization and development while keeping in touch with those around them and nature. On the other hand, believers feel rejected because they have pawned their attitudes and values to one way. Canagarajah offered on her statement what other authors did not. His leadership style and behaviour cause conflict and resentment amongst the crew of the shuttle craft, as he battles to extract them from the alien planet. Ultimately, he could save the remaining crew and himself and get back to the USS Enterprise. The leadership style of Spock can be analysed using several leadership theories that was introduced during the lecture series such as Trait Approach, Skills Approach, Behavioural Approach, Transactional Transformational Leadership, Situational/Contingency Approach, Path Goal Theory, Authentic Leadership and Servant Leadership. Looking at the Trait Approach it assumes that Leaders are exceptional people, born with innate qualities, destined to lead. Considering the background of Mr. Spock he was not considered as a first choice for leadership because captain Kirk was presumed to be better suited for leadership according to this leadership theory. However, as a lot of other theories suggest a leader cannot be only assessed by innate qualities. In the mid 20th century, the trait approach was challenged by research that questioned the universality of leadership traits. Stogdill (1948) suggested that no consistent set of traits differentiated leaders from non leaders across a variety of situations. (Nothhouse, 2016) (Stogdill, 1948) Considering the Skills approach it suggests that leadership is not only about innate characteristics. Several skills and abilities which can be learned and developed helps a person to become a better leader. Based on field research Katz (1955) suggested that effective administration (i.e., leadership) depends on three basic personal skills: technical, human, and conceptual. Technical skill is knowledge about and proficiency in a specific type of work or activity. Human skill is knowledge about and ability to work with people. Conceptual skills are the ability to work with ideas and concepts. Examples Of Class Conflict In The Inheritance Of Loss STUDY OF CLASS CONFLICTS IN KIRAN DESAI S INHERITANCE OF LOSS The analysis of The Inheritance of Loss states that the class conflict varies from community to community, and with time. This is particularly important as the class concept needs to be approached from two different points of view, from the West and the East. In general terms, of the western tradition, the word class means a social division. The Latin word classis , a division according to property of the people of Rome, came into English in its Latin form. The development of classes (lower class, middle class, upper class, working class and so on) in its modern social sense, belongs essentially to the period between 1770 1840, which is also the period of the Industrial Revolution and its decisive reorganization of society. Human Genome Background and History The idea of the HGP was initiated in 1977, when simple and efficient methods for sequencing DNA were described. Before that time the possibility of sequencing the entire human genome was no more than extreme wishful thinking. In the 1980 s it was becoming increasingly apparent to many scientists that an understanding of basic biology would be greatly enhanced if the detailed structure of DNA was understood. Over the last two decades, automated DNA sequencers have made the process of obtaining the base by base sequence of DNA easier. In 1984, for the first time a meeting was sponsored by the Department of Energy (DOE) to address the problem of detecting extremely low levels of very rare changes in DNA (mutations) in humans exposed to radiation and other environmental hazards. At that time, it was realized that the level of effort including the automation of DNA analysis techniques would be similar to the requirements for sequencing the human genome. ... This is very dualistic of the ending of the frontier, which was right around the time Psycho was produced. the movement of the film is steadily downward and inward, away from the feeling of daylight, abundance, and expanse to a nightmarish claustrophobia that exteriorizes the unconscious mind. Student athletes should not be compensated for participating in college sports. College athletes can receive full ride scholarships for playing their sport of choice. Is the 40,000 dollars they are receiving in scholarships not compensation; thus prompting the question is the top tier education they are being provided with, not compensation enough? Most of the thousands of students that participate in college sports compete for the love of the game, not for a paycheck. Furthermore, college athletes understand that they may not compete at the pro level, in fact, only 2 % of college athletes go on to play professionally. The main part of the term student athletes is student. Students do not go to college expecting a check at the end of every month or to land a spot in the first round of the draft, instead the purpose is to receive an education. This is designed to provide an incentive for people to work extra hours and keep more of what they earn. Changes to the tax and benefit system also seek to reduce the risk of the poverty trap where households on low incomes see little net financial benefit from supplying extra hours of their labor. If tax and benefit reforms can improve incentives and lead to an increase in the labor supply, this will help to reduce the equilibrium rate of unemployment (the NAIRU) and thereby increase the economy s non inflationary growth rate. Changes to indirect taxes in particular can have an effect on the pattern of demand for goods and services. For example, the rising value of duty on cigarettes and alcohol is designed to cause a substitution effect among consumers and thereby reduce the demand for what are perceived as de merit goods . In contrast, a government financial subsidy to producers has the effect of reducing their costs of production, lowering the market price and encouraging an expansion of demand. The use of indirect taxation and subsidies is often justified on the grounds of instances of market failure. But there might also be a justification based on achieving a more equitable allocation of resources e.g. providing basic state health care free at the point of use. • 33. Neoliberalism In Canada Introduction Unions have a long and sometimes contentious history in Canada, although they are also the source of many of the labour laws and standards that we have come to accept as normal. However, since the 1980s, an increasing trend towards favouring neoliberal policies has erased many of the social welfare and employment standards gains by unions, with particularly harsh effects on more vulnerable populations including women, immigrants, younger workers, and Aboriginal peoples. A striking example of these shifts is seen in the restaurant sector in B.C., where recent controversies with Canada s temporary foreign worker program has at least brought some discussions of worker s rights to the headlines in regional and national newspapers. Unfortunately, despite this new attention the current political climate continues to be hostile to workers groups and to workers rights. The book begins in the morning with the arrangements for a party Clarissa Dalloway will give and it ends late in the evening when the guests are all leaving. There are many flashbacks to tell us the past of each character, but it does not leave the range of those few hours. Septimus, by contrast, is not always able to distinguish between his personal response and the external reality in his madness, he feels that if the birds sing they must be speaking to him; if the aero plane writes in the sky it must be signaling to him. Even though the two never meet, these two correspond in that they attempt to maintain possession of themselves, of their souls. Almost all the action occurs in the thoughts of characters, and, the reader must piece together the story from random pieces of information that Woolf provides. The point of view changes from one character to the other so naturally that the reader only realizes it much later. Woolf s characters reveal their depths gradually and slowly; fragments of thought and memory emerge as they respond to and interact with their environment and other characters , and from these fragments we piece together each character s past. While most conventional 3rd person narratives stick close to one character, this narrative gets close to many. It has been a subject of study since the classical era from scientists, theologists, philosophers, and regular citizens. It is understandable that the perspective on culture and religion are unquestionably varied due to different geographical regions, but why are there so many heated debates regarding the global discussion and what is it that causes those controversies? Is it possible that there is more than two outlooks and theories? Jerome Lawrence and Robert E.Lee contrasts the two perspectives in Inherit the Wind by bringing back an historical and legendary trial. • 36. Stereotype Threat And Self Handicapping For the past century, stereotype threat and self handicapping have been of extreme interest to social psychologists. The reasoning behind why people react in certain ways due to the circumstances they are in is a huge discussion topic that interests the field in big way. Stereotype threat occurs when an individual is at risk of confirming a negative stereotypeabout them or about one s group (Steele Aronson, 1995). Previous research has shown that being the victim of a stereotype threat can actually alter one s performance (Spencer,Steele, Quinn, 1998). Studies have shown an effect of stereotype on performance in relation to many different domains. One particular experiment done by Spencer, Steele Quinn (1998) wanted to observe if the stereotype that women have weaker math ability compared to men would hinder math performance. The results showed that being explicitly primed of this stereotype prior to taking a difficult math test led to an impairment in math performance within women compared to men. This suggests that being the victim to a negative stereotype can indeed affect one s performance. The previously stated evidence shows that negative stereotypesmight have a much bigger impact on individuals than we may think. Previous research has furthered this notion and shown that self handicapping is often used in order to cope with being the victim of a stereotype threat (Stone, 2002). Another tension that the magnanimous person experiences is that although he desperately tries to focus his life on doing great deeds, at the end of the day, he is left with emptiness. However, Aquinas believed that the virtues of gratitude and humility in particular could overcome these tensions. In his writings, he brought up humaninterdependence. He also believed that the virtue of humility could relieve tensions within the magnanimous person. Although humility seems to be incongruous with magnanimity because one who is extremely humble does not strive for admirable and outstanding goals, Aquinas argued that when these two virtues were well understood, they were not just virtues that go together, but exist together. If one does not have virtuous humility, they will not be able to obtain virtuous magnanimity. This is because humility helps people create a truthful self assessment of themselves and helps them let go of passions and pursuits that are not achievable, and instead seek goals that are achievable. Moreover, humility allows humans to respect others by helping them realize that there are dimensions to each human being that only God can see; true humility presupposes that each and every human has hidden yet remarkable qualities that just cannot be perceived with the human eye. By being humble, serving others and maintaining relationships with equality is easier to do for even the magnanimous person. Concepts Stereotypes: Generalized (sometimes accurate but often overgeneralized) beliefs about a group of people. Throughout the movie, there are a lot of stereotypes evident. The main one is that predators are bad, and prey is good. Many believed in the movie that the predators could not be trusted after all the attacks that were happening, but that was not true. The rare cases of a predator going savage was due to toxic flowers. Discrimination: Unjustifiable negative behavior toward a group or its members. Designing A Computer Network -such There are many things to consider when designing a computer network such as costs of components, software and labor; communication, cohesion, expandability and many others. However, the end goal in such an enterprise is to have a fully functional, harmonious, and cohesive tiered system where duties and actions are divided, and delineated accordingly. One of the major network architectures used to facilitate this process is known as the TCP/IP Protocol Suite. The TCP/IP Protocol Suite was designed by scientists in the effort to support a new type of network known as the ARAPNET that was being installed across the US in the late 60 s to 70 s. (White, 2013, p. 15) The challenge was to create an open system whereby all networks could freely communicate with each other. The design was based on a layered system whereby the user would connect at the topmost (or application) layer, while at the same time being removed or separated from the lower (physical) layer. Although the number of layers is not exactly set, depending on the source this number can range between five and seven layers, with each layer providing services to the layer above it. For the purposes of this discussion however, we will address the five layer model.
