Children with Special Needs and How They Interact
As numerous people have stated before, if you want to understand someone, take a walk in their
shoes. From this, one is not able to truly comprehend the feelings someone may have or how many
difficulties a person endeavors on a day to day basis, unless they spend time with them. The topic
that I helped research as a group for our senior project was how students with special needs
cooperate with others like them, and then how they interact with people in society that do not have
these needs. While researching this project, I kept one question in mind, what similarities and
differences occur with these children when they are brought into these situations with new people.
Through our mentor, we were able to interact with the special needs... Show more content on

With proper guidance and support, these children with disabilities can be able to interact with other
children unlike them in a comfortable environment. Furthermore, it has been seen in many instants
where children with disabilities are able to interact with similar children with ease than to that of
others. A variety of reasons can be held accountable for this explanation, such as how much time is
spent with comparable children, and the emotions that are felt during these time periods. For
example, during our interview, our mentor was able to inform us on how caring the children are for
one another, which I feel takes into account where they spend the majority of their day in school
together, and those students are the children that they interact with almost everyday. Additionally,
many will say that the more time you spend with a person, the more you get to know them and care
for them, which is proof with these children. Some however, may not want to branch out and
socialize with other children, which even though I feel these students would benefit from the
experience, people can not be pressured into something they are not comfortable doing. When
doing this sort of project, there are certain risks and learning experiences that come with the
opportunity we were presented with. In order to fully commit myself to this project, a certain level
of commitment and connection had to be made with the task at hand. Before this project was
assigned, I had

Summary Of Be Cool To The Pizza Dude
In the article Be Cool To The Pizza Dude by Sarah Adams it s not actually about a pizza man.
Overall the article talks about the 4 principles to treat the pizza man. During the whole article it
references a pizza man, it is a symbol not a real pizza man. Principle one was about giving him the
benefit of the doubt on the road. By letting it go if they don t signal before changing lanes, letting
them exit before, or even letting them in when they are trying to change lanes. Principle two was
about the practice in empathy to the less fortunate. It talked about how people will take a job just
so that was not their idea, or that is beneath them that they have higher standards. To think that
maybe these people that are delivering the pizza this

Evolution of Tapetum Lucidum
Human Eye Vs. Animal EyeпїјпїјBy:Andrea Torres
ABSTRACT
The tapetum lucidum is an evolutionary advantage for animals. It enables animals to see in dimmer
light than the animal would otherwise be able to see in. The tapetum lucidum is useful to animals,
but it also has a use to humans. Human beings use the tapetum lucidum to scan for reflected eye
shine, in order to detect and identify the species of animals in the dark and to send trained search
dogs and search horses out at night. Historically, its function was regarded as simply to increase the
light intensity of an image on the retina. Using eye shine to identify animals in the dark implies not
only color but, also several other features. The color reciprocates to the type of tapetum ... Show

The tapetum lucidum, reflects with constructive interference allowing it to increase the quality of
light to pass through the retina. For example, on a cat the tapetum lucidum lowers the minimum
threshold of vision 6 fold, empowering the cat to see light that is invisible to the human. пїј
A = optic disk (retina is strongly attached here).
B = tapetum lucidum
C = retina
D = lens
TYPES OF TAPETUM
Tapeta can be classified according to their location in vertebrates and mechanism in invertebrates.
Choroidal tapeta are the most common and are classified as tapetum fibrosum and tapetum
cellulosum. The simplest type is the tapetum fibrosum, which is found principally in mammals,
including herbivores (elephants, horses and goats), cetaceans (whales and dolphins), certain
marsupials (Tasmanian Devil), and a rodent (Cuniculus pacas). The tapetum fibrosum consists of
extracellular collagen fibrils that are stacked orderly with the majority of the its fibers running
horizontally. The number of layered fibrils varies between species and can be up to several hundred
thick. The most studied tapetum fibrosum among mammals is found in the cow and is located
posteriorly and dorsally. The thickness is variable, increasing its thickness posteriorly. In species
with a choroidal tapetum, the retinal epithelium in the area is the tapetum in un pigmented, it
allowing the light to pass subsequently reflected by the tapetum. This contrasts with the pigmented
retinal epithelium

How Did Thomas Edison Contribute To Government
Thomas Alva Edison was born in Milan, Ohio, February 11, 1847. The Edisons came from
Holland in 1730 first settling in Elizabethport, New Jersey. The Edisons had a long proclaimed
history of long lived males, with his great grandfather living until 104 and his grandfather until the
matured age of 102. Back in the early 1800s, the Edison family fled to Canada among many others
interested in the loyalist movement that offered a 600 acre grant to those who moved to the
province of Nova Scotia. Thomas Edisons grandfather was born on Canadian soil, thus hindering
the detailed reports of Edison family. Many years later, Samuel Edison was born and without much
money in the family. Not much is known about Samuel s life besides wedding Miss Nancy... Show

With a head too big for his body and a weak small body, Edison s doctors were worried he had
brain damage. Though Edison was horrid at school, he was an zealous reader and always had
his nose in a book. Edison also had a superb memory being able to clearly remember all the way
back to his toddler years. Edison was so lacking in what was needed of a student of his age that
he was not allowed to go to school for some time. Luckily his mother had the training and was
able to give him a much higher education than the public schools could provide at any given
time. Though Edison loved to read, he was aslo always interested in how things worked. Either
the bridge or the train, Edison loved to watch the world around him come together. As Edison
grew into a man, the family moved from Milan, Ohio to Port Huron, Michigan. While in
Michigan, Edison s mother began to grow old and sick. Edison s father began new work in the
grain and feed distribution business. As he grew older, his father paid him for each factual book
he read and soon after Edison began his own laboratory of sorts. Edison had a love for chemistry
and once he had his hands on a book of chemistry experiments he completed every experiment
there was and labeled all his bottles of chemicals from the drugstore as poison so no one would
lay a hand on them. Realizing he had meager cash to spend on his experiments, he went to find a
way of earning easy money and

As per Walmart, without development, expanded interest for structures, products and
administrations will strain normal assets, increment squander and lift outflows. These variables
contrarily affect our air and water quality, which harms biological communities, jeopardizes our

The Hindenburg disaster of 1937 changed the world of air travel in the 30 s. From a world with
airships commonly and widely used to them almost non existent. Airship travel was a fast and
luxurious way to travel in the 30 s. Thousands of successful trips were made on airships without
injury on a weekly basis. Commercial zeppelins had been around for about 30 years before this
event. Back in the day the Hindenburg was the fasted way to travel across the Atlantic ocean. The
Hindenburg consisted of a dining room, lounge, comfortable cabins, and a smoking room. 7 million

Karen Armstrong The Will To Believe Essay
Experiences, religious or otherwise, possess and exude a subjective nature in and of itself it is
with this in consideration that one must realize the difficulty of analyzing a personal experience
cognitively, objectively, or literally. Particularly, religious experiences symbolically bring forth
ideals and values commonly seen in theistic beliefs and moral values, such as a strong urge to do
good deeds unto others, advocating peace and love, and feelings characteristic of humanity. To its
fullest extent, a religious experience occurs as a result of letting go of egotistical thoughts in order
to truly appreciate the universe, or a higher force not necessarily seen in theistic religions such as
Christianity and Islam. In abandoning the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On a similar note, by dissociating oneself from the literality, one finds in symbolic expressions,
such as those of poetry and biblical stories, important truths that help humanity be aware of
instances whose circumstances prevent the literality from being considered, such as in the case of
moral arguments and moral relationships, as suggested in William James essay, The Will to
Believe. James repudiates solutions without sensible proof in moral arguments. Arguably, religious
experiences themselves are of moral nature, as they ultimately dictate which values and morals one
depicts in everyday life. William James furthermore repudiates Pascal s attempt at rationalizing
belief in a theistic God he discourages thinking of religious experience theistically, claiming it is a
misinterpretation. To emphasize, religious experiences must be seen in a spiritual light, as
religious experiences are often too mundane and earthly to be used as rationalization for God s
existence. Henceforth in religious experiences, passional tendencies and personal proof factor into
a belief like theistic or nontheistic religion. When faced with a genuine option one that is live,
forced, and momentous one must allow passional tendencies to rule due to the subjective nature of
the context. There are multiple solutions to one

The Influence Of Social Media On The Fashion Industry
Influence of Social Media on the Fashion Industry According to Katie Hope, from the BBC News,
Burberry, a fashion retailer, has nearly 40 million followers across 20 different social media
platforms and openly admits that it has become as much a media content producer as a design
company. Burberry, as well as other name brand designers, has ditched the catwalk and other
ancient fashionrituals for a more edgy approach towards promoting their identity. During the turn
of the century, the creation of media outlets are used by both consumers and producers alike. The
producers within the industry, use the top three social media platforms, Twitter, Instagram, and
Facebook, to project upcoming sales, designer lines, and hire famous people from all different
fields to advertise their brand, (Moving Faster). Although many in the fashion industry continue to
utilize magazines and commercials to promote their brands, this practice has become less
common due to the rapid development of various social media outlets. Fashion producers need to
embrace social media as an increasingly important platform with which to promote their products
because of its large fan base, relatively inexpensive means of spreading the word and its very wide
adoption for millennials but increasingly more so for people of all generations.
Due to the invention of social media, many producers have approached celebrities, many of whom
have a large quantity of followers, to use their accounts in order to reach a

West England White Terrier Research Paper
The West Highland White Terrier is an adorable, hardy small dog that is relatively easy to train.
This breed has gained an enormous popularity over the recent years due to its attractive overall
appearance, particularly his coat which is one of the breed s most striking features. His cute and
handy size, along with his superb sporting instinct makes him suitable for town or country living.
He gets along very well with children as well as other dogs which makes him a wonderful family
dog.
Size: The average size for a healthy adult West Highland White Terrier is about 11in. There is no
particular weight standard for this breed in the United States or the United Kingdom.

He would love an occasional marrow or chop bone; this dog loves to dig, usually to recover a long
discarded much enjoyed bone.
Exercise: He can easily get used to town or country living and be satisfied either indoors or in a
kennel. However, he will be happiest as an indoor pet that is allowed to run around inside the house
and gets enough chance to be taken out for a walk. Keep in mind that this breed was originally
used as a working dog with the job to hunt badger and fox. He is also a good ratter and enjoys a
lively game of ball.
Grooming: The West Highland White Terrier is a great choice for a family who wants an active
and healthy dog. But if you have a busy lifestyle and do not have the time to spend on regular
grooming, perhaps you should think twice about getting this breed. His coat needs to be brushed
and combed everyday. In addition, he needs his coat trimmed twice a year, particularly in the
neckline. Straggly hairs need to be removed from ears and tail. Ideally, his coat should be more or
less 2in long with the neck and throat hair

Objective Theory of Contracts
The four elements of a valid contract are offer and acceptance, meeting of the minds, consideration
and competent parties. The contract must cover a legal purpose or objective as well (Binder, 2012).
The objective theory of contracts holds that contract formation is dependent on what is
communicated, rather than what is thought by one of the parties (Barnes, 2008).
The Pepsi Harrier case (Leonard v. PepsiCo) is an example of a situation where the four elements of
a contract are simply not met. Advertisements in general constitute an invitation to treat, rather than
an offer. Therefore, Leonard was not able to accept the offer, because the offer never existed. As
such, the basic elements of a contract were not present in their entirety, meaning that no contract
existed between Pepsi and the Seattle man.
The objective theory of contracts is relevant to this case, because there was a clear difference
between what Pepsi was thinking and what Leonard was thinking. Each had their own view of what
the advertisement constituted, and it is from these differing views that the contract dispute arose.
The judge in this situation must use the objective theory to decide the case. This means that the
case can only rest on what has actually been communicated between the two parties. In this case,
Pepsi has an advertisement that discusses its promotion. The promotion describes a bargain in
which a customer presents Pepsi with points and Pepsi allows the customer to redeem those points

Buddhism And Its Views On Buddhism
Buddhism is one of the major religions of the world; it was founded in India and is based on the
teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, Buddha, or the Enlightened One/Awakened One. Buddhism is
non theistic and is not based on any concept of a supreme or one ruling God. A Buddhist approach
is a naturalistic one and the sole purpose of the followers is to end or reduce suffering (dukkha)
and attain a state of liberation or enlightenment and the freedom from the cycle of death and rebirth
(Nirvana). Buddhist are their own Buddha and the answers of the world will not end their suffering
but within themselves they are capable of reaching nirvana. Buddhismhas two major points of view
that differ in their telling of Buddha and claim to be the correct story.1 Theravadin is considered
the more conservative view and Mahayanais considered the more creative view, these two views
tell the story of Buddha and the followers believe their version is the correct version. These
differing views make up the religion of Buddhism and the followers carry out the word of their
branch. The view of Theravadin Buddhism is the more conservative view and it follows more
firmly the original teachings of Buddha it is often referred to as the path of the elders . 1
Theravadin Buddhists believe Buddha is an inspirer and supreme teacher not a God but the very
highest human. Buddha believed that the human experience included great suffering, nothing is
permanent and nothing in this world should be desired.

The Debate Over Nuclear Waste
It is established that energy cannot be created nor destroyed and it could not be made out of
nothing according the law of conservation of energy. The way that science explains the
phenomenon of energy conservation is by portraying the conservation of energy as a physical
transfer of energy between mediums through various forms such as heat, sound, and light. Since
the discovery of fire in the early days of humanity, it can be understood that heat is the most
versatile form of energy. On the expense of sacrificial physical matter, heat is produced
particularly natural resource such as fossil fuels. While time progresses, the anticipated rate of
decrease in fossil fuels has lead to the exploration of prospectively innovative long term energy
supplies. Nevertheless, like fossil fuels, injurious resources have professed many questions
regarding the discarding of nuclear waste. This controversy paper will be mainly focusing on the
question of whether nuclear waste can be disposed of safely.
Contrasting on the issues with fossil fuels, the depletion of nuclear resources cannot tangibly be
consumed. Relatively when creating heat by utilizing fossil fuels, nuclear resources do not
breakdown into individual byproducts for example, carbon dioxide and water. In contrast, electrical
power plants use nuclear resources such as uranium and plutonium pellets. When these nuclear
resources are used, they remain undamaged and become considered as consumed fuel once it
reaches an industrial

The Philosophy Of Political Science
Ohlone College The philosopher, Thomas Hobbes, started out with the philosophy of political
science while on his trips and visits neighboring countries outside of England to listen to other
scientists discuss and learn about different forms of government. While studying, Thomas Hobbes
wondered about why people allow themselves to become ruled by the governmentand would be the
ideal form of government best for England. He answered that questioned by stating that since
people were naturally wicked and shouldn t become trusted to govern themselves because they
were selfish creatures and would do anything to better their position and social status, it would be
best to have an absolute monarchy, which would stop the people when left alone to go back to their
own evil impulse to be led into the right direction and leadership to make sure the country doesn t
go into turmoil. To support this viewpoint, Thomas Hobbesasked the question, If men are naturally
in a state of war, why are they carrying arms and need keys to lock their doors. In other words,
even when the country is at peace, people are still using things which can get them a better
advantage over others and keeping their own interests a secret from others arms to protect their
interests and a lock to lock away their secrets so no one can get to it. According to Thomas
Hobbes, the reason that this is the case is because people are selfish and evil and that they must
protect their interests

Where and when an excavation takes place is contingent upon the archaeologist s research project
and the local weather. Excavation season is typically during the summer and archaeological digs
typically last one week to three months, Before, during and after archaeologists dig for artefacts,
they collect data about the archaeological site, record interviews and make notes of their
observations. Some types of data include photographs, maps, soil samples, measurements,
drawings and detailed reports about the excavation. Archaeologists also survey the site using GPS
technology and other electronic devices and input data into databases. Artefacts discovered and
obtained through excavation undergo a conservation process in a lab. They are cleaned and

Max Weber’s and Mircea Eliade’s Disagreement with...
Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, and Sigmund Freud were intelligent theorists that tried to reduce
religion to simple explanations. Marx explained religion as a phenomenon created by economic
position meant to give reason to people s social economic position and thus provide them
satisfaction, while they are promised salvation in paradise. Durkheim reduced religionas something
created by the social interaction of people, thus making religion a social phenomenon, in which
people interact and have rites. Freud, on the other hand, explained religion as being neurotic due
to people s obsession with security alongside the father. All in all, these three theorists attempted
to reduce religion to its basic elements, which they later used to explain primitive life, and the
reason for the continuity of religion in modern life. However, Mircea Eliade and Max Weber did
not agree with the views. Weber and Eliade determined that the reductionist view did not give
enough insight into religion, because they focused on primitive culture to say what religion was,
information was confined to only western civilization, and in Freud s case religion was neurotic.
Thus, Weber and Eliade rejected the reductionist views of Durkheim, Marx, and Freud.
In Max Weber s refute of the three reductionists his ideal types point of view is applicable, which
are formalized general categories. The meaning behind the ideal types is that they helped to create
a framework, by which cases can be brought into an

Identifying Areas That Expose Hospitals Essay
Identifying areas that expose hospitals to WSPEs are critical for managing risks. Key
recommendations for safety improvement include mandatory reporting of near misses, improving
safety education, improving time out effectiveness, addressing the unique needs of LEP patients,
and monitoring time out effectiveness and compliance.
Mandatory Reporting of Near Misses. Reporting near misses is fundamental to error prevention.
Near misses reflect potential failures in current processes, which proves invaluable for proactively
reducing errors. According to Neily et al. (2011, p. xx), the prevalence of medical errors decrease
when the rate of reporting near miss events increase. Share lessons learned from patient safety
events with all staff to provide ongoing continuous learning and training. Wolf Hughes (2008, p.
601) suggest near misses occur 300 times more often than actual adverse events. Therefore,
tracking and analyzing near misses will reveal system vulnerabilities, determine frequency of error
types, and predict the likelihood of a future error.
Education. Haugen et al. (2013, p. xx) claim a poor safety culture will undermine the effectiveness
of interventions like checklists. Knowledge changes perceptions and can assist with shifting safety
behaviors in a positive direction. Education is paramount to creating a safety driven culture and an
important tool for preventing never events. To prevent another wrong patient surgery, education

Utilitarianism And Its Moral Value
Utilitarianism is a theory that delineates the bounds of morality with respect to actions taken by
individuals in terms of what produces the greatest amount of happiness for the greatest number of
people. The principle seeks to define first the morality of an action, allowing for the morality of a
person to be derived based on the intent behind the respective action. The fundamentals of a person
s moralityare then presented in a form that labels the person behind a morally defined action as
either praiseworthy or blameworthy, a conclusion based directly on the intent behind an action.
The central concept behind utilitarianism, happiness, requires that there be an objective fact of the
matter about how much happiness exists. Before defining happiness, instrumental and intrinsic
value must also be introduced, as they are necessary concepts for defining the relationship between
an action and its moral value. Instrumental value revolves around a certain anything s usefulness in
seeing a process through completion, while a certain anything s intrinsic value stems from
existential value alone. For example, a pair of glasses instrumental value comes from its usefulness
in allowing a person to see clearly, while happiness itself is the certain anything with intrinsic value.
As such, happiness exists as a plausible measure in defining the morality behind an action. If
happiness is the only anything that has value simply in and of itself, then measuring total net
happiness

Essay about Primary Education in Uganda
Primary Education in Uganda A Policy Analysis
Over the past five years, Uganda s education system has proved both effective and successful.
Although in the process of further development, it has nonetheless served as a model for many
developing African countries. The Ugandan government, with President Yoweri Museveni at its
forefront, has determined primary education to be one of the major channels toward poverty
eradication and as a vital resource for economic and social development. The Ugandan government
has made a national commitment to eradicate illiteracy and educate its citizens through the 1997

As a consequence, policy was adopted that would better Uganda s financial position, which led to
an emphasis of secondary and higher education in order to fill the demand for high level
manpower. (Bell, p. 4) The emphasis soon changed as it was realized by the Commission of
Education in Uganda in 1965 that the content and structure of primary school education should also
be geared toward meeting the economic needs of the country. P. Beghin wrote in Recent Trends in
Primary Education Policy in Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, primary education is no longer regarded as
a mere preparation to secondary and higher education. Primary school is, in the view of the
Syllabus, a terminal education for a part of the pupils, which at present is actually the majority of
them. (1968, pg. 6) From this time, documented Ugandan education policy on issues such as
instructional language, examinations, and scientific literacy was expanded and reformed to include
primary education.
During the political turmoil of the 1970s and 1980s when leadership changed hands, the education
system suffered, yet functionally operated by relying on local and regional based administrators
and nation wide standardization. (Upenn Sas) As the political situation settled in Uganda, education
became the new hot topic and was regarded as an issue of international development. President
Yoweri Museveni and the National Resistance Movement Government, initiated a review of

Why The French Revolutionaries View The Months Of The...
In 1793, the National Convention in Paris created a new calendar for the French republic. The
new calendar renamed the months of the Gregorian calendar and rearranged them so that each
month contained three weeks of ten days each; at the end of each year there were five days of

Dyslexia In The Classroom
Method Participants For the purpose of this study, data were collected from 60 pre K students, half
girls and half boys between the ages of 4 to 6 years old that have dyslexia in the Upper East Side of
New York City. The participants were recruited by letting their parents know through the
distributions of fliers and announcements about the experiment and the big compensation of $1000

Gender And Politics James Joyce s Dubliners
Gender and Politics in James Joyce s Dubliners At the turn of the 20th century, a young Irish
novelist, James Joyce, released his first collection of short stories on Irish identity and what it
means to exist in Ireland. In some of his most well known stories, you can see Joyce building a
contrast between the men and the women in Irish society. One of his most well known short
stories, The Dead takes a very explicit approach to gender politics as well as the idea of identity
and race. My intention is to build a web from several stories in Dubliners and their political, racial
and cultural implications as well as how they have influenced Irish culture. Dubliners was one of the

His solipsistic assumptions that he is the reason she developed a liking for alcohol is indicative
of how he views how truly important he was to her. His response is characteristic of how Joyce
began to view the Irish later in life, especially since many Irish were very reserved and buttoned
down, and Mr. Duffy s response of disgust toward Mrs. Sinico s putting his hands on her face
directly affirms that he is trying to exemplify what a true Irish citizen should be. Yet he is also
paralyzed by his sense of moral superiority and what he believes he must represent. It ends with
him being alone yet again. A character that contrasts Mr. Duffy s initially composed nature is
Farrington in Counterparts whose anger towards his unrepentantly callous boss spreads through
him and eventually infects his family. He starts off arguing with his boss, showing a disregard for
authority and restraint is a contrast to what would be expected of those in the Anglo Irish middle
class; instead, he represents himself as a stereotype of an Irish Catholic middle class, which is
especially pronounced when he goes to the pub and begins

Euthyphro Approach To Divine Command Theory
The Divine Command Theory states that something is morally good because God commands or
has commanded it to be done or is morally evil because God forbids it from being done. So,
saying that it is good to love our neighbors as yourself is basically the equivalent of saying that
God commands us to love our neighbors. It is the same with saying that it is evil to commit murder
because Godforbids murder. From that, immediately someone can object to Divine Command
Theoryby saying that good and evil become subjective to the notion of God. If good and evil are
solely based on the notion of God, then moralityis merely a will to power. Since God is mightier
than any of us, all of morality boils down to it is either His way or nothing.
The alternative to Divine Command Theory is the statement that the basis for morality lies
outside of God and His commands, rather than at the mercy of His whim. This is the approach
that is referred to as the Euthyphro Dilemma. This Euthyphro Dilemma can be stated best as a
question: Is an action morally good because God commands it, or does God command an action
because it is morally good? This question may cause someone to be tempted to abandon Divine
Command Theory and instead see morality as something external to God. By saying that God
commands something because it is morally good threatens the authority and independence of God.
If an external principle, in this case the objective view of morality, is outside of God, then God is
therefore

Upton Sinclair s The Jungle
From the arrival of Jurgis family to an America that was not what they expected, to the loss of all
hope in their lives, Upton Sinclair s The Jungle shows many instances where the immigrants and
workers of the industries are severely exploited. Sinclair traveled to the stockyards in Chicago in
order to observe the conditions the workers lived and worked in. What he found was disturbing,
disgusting, and something of major importance to the public. Sinclair then decided to write his
story about the abuse of the workers, published the story, and accurately called it The Jungle, since
the chaos in Packingtown could be compared to an actual jungle. His novel was considered to be a
part of a newer type of writing, called yellow journalism, since... Show more content on

His narrative is part of numerous attempts to document those living on the margins of American
society , which is why the story is considered to be part of yellow journalism (Connery). Upton
Sinclair s The Jungle provides an excellent example of the yellow journalism and muckraking that
opened the eyes of many Americans during the 1900 s by showing the exploitation of the workers,
the conditions of the workplace, and the products sold to the public.
Before the time of muckrakers and yellow journalists came along, the conditions held in
workplaces like Jurgis were disgusting and nauseating, but the public had no clue of any of this
since this news was not being shared with the public. In The Jungle , many secrets about the
sanitation and work laws conducted in the industries were kept secret from the public. Sinclair s
character, Jurgis, provides an excellent point of view as a worker having to make a living in
these conditions. For example, Jurgis points out that the livestock the businesses used for food
production was unfit to be fed to human beings, saying that the meat was old and crippled and
diseased , steerly , or covered in boils , and of course, company owners kept this from the public to
continue sales and production (Sinclair 709). The Jungle also shows a great deal

Analysis of Ralegh s Nature, that washed her hands in milk
Nature, that washed her hands in milk can be divided structurally into two halves; the first three
stanzas constitute the first half, and the last three stanzas make up the second half. Each stanza in
the first half corresponds to a stanza in the second half. The first stanza describes the temperament
of Nature, who is, above all, creative. This first stanza of the first half corresponds to stanza four,
the first stanza in the second half of the poem. Stanza four divulges the nature of Time, who, unlike
Nature, is ultimately a destroyer. Time is introduced as the enemy of Nature, and Ralegh points out
that not only does Nature despise Time, she has good reason for it ... Show more content on

We still die, and often we are not remembered.
Ralegh conveys this somber realization through his plain style of verse. Though he describes the
mistress in detail, she is not the subject of his poem. Ralegh uses Love s mistress and her
destruction as a vehicle to address the destructive nature of Time. He approaches that subject in the
plain style, using short, proverbial phrases intended to make the reader aware of time and
mutability. The poem contains several lines that are made entirely of one syllable words, which
draw out the time it takes to read the line. Contrast lines 31 32 in Nature, that washed her hands in
milk with lines 8 and 10 in Christopher Marlowe s The Passionate Shepherd to His Love (p. 989).
Marlowe describes the land in which he lives, where Melodious birds sing madrigals, and beds
are made of a thousand fragrant posies . Marlowe s verse sounds quick and light when spoken,
simply because he uses fewer words in an eight syllable line. Ralegh, in contrast, often uses seven
or eight words to fill the same eight syllable line: Oh, cruel Time! which takes in trust/Our youth,
our joys, and all we have... Line 32 especially requires that the reader take more time to pronounce
each syllable, which adds weight to each word.

Drinking On College Campuses
There are three particular birthdays every person looks forward to in their lifetime: sixteen,
eighteen, and twenty one. Sixteen brings the freedom of driving. Eighteen brings the freedom of
being mostly an adult. Finally, twenty one brings the freedom to consume alcohol. As an
eighteen year old, you re probably wondering how it s fair you can be tried as an adult but not
have a glass wine at dinner. Or how you can die for your country, but not have a beer. It s not. It s
simply not right or fair. The United States needs to allow states to lower the minimum legal

Or, if there is an emergency at a party with underage drinkers, there s a chance help won t be

held at a college campus. To add, the fear of getting caught builds a level of disrespect for law
enforcement. Even a student is not 21, they could easily gain access to a person that would
design them a fake ID (Reilly). So, even though the drinking age is 21, students are still able to
illegally legally purchase alcohol if they are not of age. Curiosity is something most people are
born with. Kids in the United States grow up watching the people they look up to, their parents,
frequently drink alcohol. When a child gets old enough, they will become curious as to what it

they also reach a rebellious phase. When something is banned, kids are just going to want to do it

against doing something, it will just motivate them more to do it. Hans Nichols, an NBC

sentiment against the law (Nichols). This is exactly the case when it comes to alcohol consumption

Are Competitive Sports Really Good for Kids?
Competitive sports are a topic that is still heavily debated on, even today. Most people have
formed a very strong opinion on this issue, and on whether or not competitive sports is
detrimental to children s and teens health and well being. However, I believe that when children
and teens play competitive sports, this leads to many downsides, and negative side effects,
including: the increased risk of health issues compared to other types of sports, a decreased
enjoyment of the actual activity, and the loss of kids and teens confidence and self esteem, which
could lead to other, but no less important, issues, such as substance abuse and stress, due to the
competitive and winning focused nature of these kinds of sports. ... Show more content on

The term non State actors are a superordinate concept that encompasses all those actors in
international relations that are not states. It comprises individuals as well as entities, the latter
spanning a large range of organizations and institutions on the global, regional, sub regional as well

Non state actors (NSA) are entities that participate in international relations, these entities cannot be

corporations, non governmental organizations ( NGOs ), trade associations, and transnational
corporations, terrorist groups and transnational criminal organizations. They are organizations with
sufficient power to influence and cause a change even though they do not belong to any established

Summary of Defending Against the Indefensible Essay
In Neil Postman s Defending Against the Indefensible , he suggests that our society has been
culturally brainwashed. Therefore, Postman has given us seven key elements of critical thinking to
help us understand the English language and avoid the manipulation of language: definition,
questions, simplicity of words, metaphors, reification, style and tone, and the non neutrality of
media. Postman s first principle is that a definition is only a means of helping us achieve our
goals. Definitions do not have the power to stop us from achieving our purposes. Definitions will
always have a bias. It is our job to spot that bias and questionwho wrote the definition, why, and for
what purpose. The word organic is seen quiet frequently... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What was considered right to Hitler was very contrary to what was right to Churchill during World
War Two. Students who can understand the meanings of these small words will be able to
understand how the media, politicians, and preachers may try to mislead or cover up. Fourth,
students must realize how much metaphors are used in the english language. Not only are
metaphors used so commonly, they also greatly influence the way we think about things. All
subjects are based on metaphors. Education is currently seen as a business with the students as the
clients. Language is a tree with deep roots. Metaphors are a cornerstone to how we grasp concepts
and understand the knowledge we have. We really only know things in relation to other things,
often by a metaphor Postman s fifth concept is reification. This is the confusing of words with
things. It is with reification, that we can manipulate words to help us conceal ideas. Words like
ethnic cleansing or final solution make a concept sound like it is a good thing, yet it really
involves the massacre of millions of people. Reification displays to us that a person s word choice
is profoundly influential to how we perceive a concept. Style and tone is the sixth concept used by
Postman. All subjects of knowledge are like genres. They share certain qualities that are distinctive
to the subject matter. A man of science could not write about history

An Article On Turning Water
Turning water to ice is a relatively long process from start to finish. Is there a way to speed up this
process by simply changing the water temperature?
Problem statement: If an average person needs ice in a hurry, is there a way to speed it up?
Would they be able to make ice faster by using cold water or would they be better off using hot
water? If adjusting the water temperature by a couple of degrees will this provide ice quicker; would
it be worth trying? The following experiment will address this question and the results of using
different water temperatures will include a more expedient way for the average person to make ice.

Even though freezing water seems like a pretty basic concept by many people; a lot actually goes
on within this so called simple process. There have been many experiments that examined the
scientific process of freezing water.
Nature International weekly journal of science had an article about freezing water and how it the
process was so complicated that it had never been successfully simulated by a computer. In this
experiment the experimenter was noticing how larger bodies of water would start to freeze
throughout nature when the water would start to cool until finally freezing to ice. The complicated
problem is when the water starts to cool and the hydrogen bonding between the individual water
molecules yield a disordered three dimensional hydrogen bond network. The experimenter noticed

family structures consist of the nuclear family, single parent household, lesbian/gay family,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Speed Control Of Induction...
Abstract The three phase squirrel cage induction motor is the most widely used motor type in the
industry because of its good self starting capability, simple and rugged structure, low cost and
reliability. In spite of this popularity, the induction motor has two basic limitations: (i) The
standard motor is not a true constant speed machine, its full load slip varies from less than 1% (in
high horsepower motors) to more than 5% (in fractional horsepower motors), and (ii) It is not
inherently capable of providing variable speed operation. The limitations of induction motor can be
solved through the use of adjustable speed control method of induction machine. In this paper,
various method of speed control of induction motor drive are presented.... Show more content on

Switching power converters offer an easy way to regulate both the frequency and magnitude of
the voltage and current applied to a motor shown in fig(1). As a result much higher efficiency and
performance can be achieved by these motor drives with less generated noises[3]. Figure 1
Variable Voltage Variable Frequency Control Schematic The most common principle of this kind is
the constant V/Hz principle which requires that the magnitude and frequency of the voltage applied
to the stator of a motor maintain a constant ratio. By doing this, the magnitude of the magnetic
field in the stator is kept at an approximately constant level throughout the operating range. Thus,
(maximum) constant torque producing capability is maintained. When transient response is
critical, switching power converters also allow easy control of transient voltage and current
applied to the motor to achieve faster dynamic response. II. METHODS OF SPEED CONTROL
OF INDUCTION MOTOR Mathematically, relation between speed of induction motor and
synchronous speed can be stated as, n = (1 s) ns where n_s=120f/P which implies that there are
two basic ways of speed control, namely Slip control for fixed synchronous speed. Control of

When CAP occurs, it is determined if the need for hospitalisation is necessary as it depends on the
seriousness of the infection. Gram positive organisms such as S. pneumoniae, naturally occur in the
upper respiratory tract, is one cause of lower respiratory infections such as pneumonia, but is also a
culprit in causing upper respiratory infections like otitis media. H. influenzae is just one of many
bacterial infections that can result in CAP, it therefore can be subacute and present with a low
grade fever and a persistent cough for a few weeks before a patient has a diagnosis. Adults that have
very little or no immunity are an easier target for certain viruses such as that of the
Cytomegalovirus, which is a viral pathogen that is commonly contracted within the community,
other common virus are adenovirus and herpes simplex. When a virus starts to become acute, it
starts an infection within the ciliated cells within the airway. When pneumonia occurs from this
viral infection, the inflammatory action starts to seep into the alveolar areas and leads to the

Body Based Anesthetic Procedures
Introduction Among the abundant concerns prior to surgery that medical staff and patients share is
the fear of losing control. A patient must surrender her physical comfort in anticipation of painful
needles used during surgery and the medical team must be vigilant to obey correct instrumental
spatial orientations when applying force lest damage result from muscle jerking. A valuable
component of many surgeries is included to ease the minds of both medical staff and patients:
anesthetics. By suppressing pain and consciousness of the patient and serving as a muscle relaxant
to make the surgical experience more effective, anesthetics are ameliorating agents that have greatly
improved outcomes from surgery. This paper serves to compile and compare... Show more content

It is commonly administered directly before surgery to cause analgesia until an intravenous
anesthetic is administered [8,10]. Nitrous oxide is a gas at room temperature [8,17]. This anesthetic
does not lead to respiratory depression and is not teratogenic [8,17]. A volatile liquid analogue to
N2O is halothane, an inhalant anesthetic that does not show hepatotoxicity in pediatrics making it a
useful inhalant anesthetic in that population [9,17]. While anesthetics like sevoflurane and
isoflurane have superseded its use in many countries due to its action of causing cardiac and
respiratory depression, halothane remains of the shelves for medical teams because it provides
good muscle relaxing abilities and it s used in obstetrics

The Syrian Refugee Crisis Essay
A refugee is defined as an individual who has been forced to leave their country due to political
or religious reasons, or due to threat of war or violence. There were 19.5 million refugees
worldwide at the end of 2014, 14.4 million under the mandate of the United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), around 2.9 million more than in 2013. The other 5.1
million Palestinian refugees are registered with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency
(UNRWA). With the displacement of so many people, it is difficult to find countries willing to
accept all the refugees. There are over 125 different countries that currently host refugees, and with
this commitment comes the responsibility of ensuring these refugees have access to... Show more

Despite the efforts of parents to keep traditions alive, children are changing, fighting over food,
clothing and anything of any value. Many children feel like they are prisoners in their host
countries. Many are not allowed to leave their homes due to safety concerns and chores that
need to be completed. Twenty nine percent of Syrian refugees leave their home less than once a
week. In many cases, multiple families are crammed into the same, often one roomed house.
People who held jobs, and often led successful lives now live off of handouts, or by working odd
jobs. Many children have been out of school for over two years, and there is no opportunity to
begin school in their host country. Last year, over 40% of elementary children dropped out of
school due to the civil war and resulting displacement. With no job and no opportunity of
education for their children, there is little hope for those who have fled Syria. Aside from the
difficulty of finding a place within a school, many children are also expected to work and to help
provide for their families, as many parents cannot find a job. Many go to school all day, and then
work night shifts at restaurants or factories. Many children are often exposed to extremely long
working hours, dangerous types of work and many are exposed to illegal activities. Those that do
manage to go to school are faced with harsh discrimination, and often segregation. The parents of

  • 2. Children with Special Needs and How They Interact As numerous people have stated before, if you want to understand someone, take a walk in their shoes. From this, one is not able to truly comprehend the feelings someone may have or how many difficulties a person endeavors on a day to day basis, unless they spend time with them. The topic that I helped research as a group for our senior project was how students with special needs cooperate with others like them, and then how they interact with people in society that do not have these needs. While researching this project, I kept one question in mind, what similarities and differences occur with these children when they are brought into these situations with new people. Through our mentor, we were able to interact with the special needs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With proper guidance and support, these children with disabilities can be able to interact with other children unlike them in a comfortable environment. Furthermore, it has been seen in many instants where children with disabilities are able to interact with similar children with ease than to that of others. A variety of reasons can be held accountable for this explanation, such as how much time is spent with comparable children, and the emotions that are felt during these time periods. For example, during our interview, our mentor was able to inform us on how caring the children are for one another, which I feel takes into account where they spend the majority of their day in school together, and those students are the children that they interact with almost everyday. Additionally, many will say that the more time you spend with a person, the more you get to know them and care for them, which is proof with these children. • 4. Evolution of Tapetum Lucidum Human Eye Vs. Animal EyeпїјпїјBy:Andrea Torres ABSTRACT The tapetum lucidum is an evolutionary advantage for animals. It enables animals to see in dimmer light than the animal would otherwise be able to see in. The tapetum lucidum is useful to animals, but it also has a use to humans. Human beings use the tapetum lucidum to scan for reflected eye shine, in order to detect and identify the species of animals in the dark and to send trained search dogs and search horses out at night. Historically, its function was regarded as simply to increase the light intensity of an image on the retina. Using eye shine to identify animals in the dark implies not only color but, also several other features. The color reciprocates to the type of tapetum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... B = tapetum lucidum C = retina D = lens TYPES OF TAPETUM Tapeta can be classified according to their location in vertebrates and mechanism in invertebrates. Choroidal tapeta are the most common and are classified as tapetum fibrosum and tapetum cellulosum. The simplest type is the tapetum fibrosum, which is found principally in mammals, including herbivores (elephants, horses and goats), cetaceans (whales and dolphins), certain marsupials (Tasmanian Devil), and a rodent (Cuniculus pacas). The tapetum fibrosum consists of extracellular collagen fibrils that are stacked orderly with the majority of the its fibers running horizontally. The number of layered fibrils varies between species and can be up to several hundred thick. The most studied tapetum fibrosum among mammals is found in the cow and is located posteriorly and dorsally. The thickness is variable, increasing its thickness posteriorly. In species with a choroidal tapetum, the retinal epithelium in the area is the tapetum in un pigmented, it allowing the light to pass subsequently reflected by the tapetum. This contrasts with the pigmented retinal epithelium ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To its fullest extent, a religious experience occurs as a result of letting go of egotistical thoughts in order to truly appreciate the universe, or a higher force not necessarily seen in theistic religions such as Christianity and Islam. Arguably, religious experiences themselves are of moral nature, as they ultimately dictate which values and morals one depicts in everyday life. William James furthermore repudiates Pascal s attempt at rationalizing belief in a theistic God he discourages thinking of religious experience theistically, claiming it is a misinterpretation. The Influence Of Social Media On The Fashion Industry Influence of Social Media on the Fashion Industry According to Katie Hope, from the BBC News, Burberry, a fashion retailer, has nearly 40 million followers across 20 different social media platforms and openly admits that it has become as much a media content producer as a design company. Burberry, as well as other name brand designers, has ditched the catwalk and other ancient fashionrituals for a more edgy approach towards promoting their identity. During the turn of the century, the creation of media outlets are used by both consumers and producers alike. The producers within the industry, use the top three social media platforms, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, to project upcoming sales, designer lines, and hire famous people from all different fields to advertise their brand, (Moving Faster). Although many in the fashion industry continue to utilize magazines and commercials to promote their brands, this practice has become less common due to the rapid development of various social media outlets. Fashion producers need to embrace social media as an increasingly important platform with which to promote their products because of its large fan base, relatively inexpensive means of spreading the word and its very wide adoption for millennials but increasingly more so for people of all generations. • 11. Objective Theory of Contracts The four elements of a valid contract are offer and acceptance, meeting of the minds, consideration and competent parties. The contract must cover a legal purpose or objective as well (Binder, 2012). The objective theory of contracts holds that contract formation is dependent on what is communicated, rather than what is thought by one of the parties (Barnes, 2008). The Pepsi Harrier case (Leonard v. PepsiCo) is an example of a situation where the four elements of a contract are simply not met. Advertisements in general constitute an invitation to treat, rather than an offer. Therefore, Leonard was not able to accept the offer, because the offer never existed. As such, the basic elements of a contract were not present in their entirety, meaning that no contract existed between Pepsi and the Seattle man. The objective theory of contracts is relevant to this case, because there was a clear difference between what Pepsi was thinking and what Leonard was thinking. Each had their own view of what the advertisement constituted, and it is from these differing views that the contract dispute arose. The judge in this situation must use the objective theory to decide the case. This means that the case can only rest on what has actually been communicated between the two parties. In this case, Pepsi has an advertisement that discusses its promotion. The way that science explains the phenomenon of energy conservation is by portraying the conservation of energy as a physical transfer of energy between mediums through various forms such as heat, sound, and light. Since the discovery of fire in the early days of humanity, it can be understood that heat is the most versatile form of energy. On the expense of sacrificial physical matter, heat is produced particularly natural resource such as fossil fuels. While time progresses, the anticipated rate of decrease in fossil fuels has lead to the exploration of prospectively innovative long term energy supplies. Nevertheless, like fossil fuels, injurious resources have professed many questions regarding the discarding of nuclear waste. This controversy paper will be mainly focusing on the question of whether nuclear waste can be disposed of safely. Contrasting on the issues with fossil fuels, the depletion of nuclear resources cannot tangibly be consumed. Relatively when creating heat by utilizing fossil fuels, nuclear resources do not breakdown into individual byproducts for example, carbon dioxide and water. • 14. The Philosophy Of Political Science Ohlone College The philosopher, Thomas Hobbes, started out with the philosophy of political science while on his trips and visits neighboring countries outside of England to listen to other scientists discuss and learn about different forms of government. While studying, Thomas Hobbes wondered about why people allow themselves to become ruled by the governmentand would be the ideal form of government best for England. He answered that questioned by stating that since people were naturally wicked and shouldn t become trusted to govern themselves because they were selfish creatures and would do anything to better their position and social status, it would be best to have an absolute monarchy, which would stop the people when left alone to go back to their own evil impulse to be led into the right direction and leadership to make sure the country doesn t go into turmoil. To support this viewpoint, Thomas Hobbesasked the question, If men are naturally in a state of war, why are they carrying arms and need keys to lock their doors. In other words, even when the country is at peace, people are still using things which can get them a better advantage over others and keeping their own interests a secret from others arms to protect their interests and a lock to lock away their secrets so no one can get to it. • 17. Max Weber’s and Mircea Eliade’s Disagreement with... Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, and Sigmund Freud were intelligent theorists that tried to reduce religion to simple explanations. Marx explained religion as a phenomenon created by economic position meant to give reason to people s social economic position and thus provide them satisfaction, while they are promised salvation in paradise. Durkheim reduced religionas something created by the social interaction of people, thus making religion a social phenomenon, in which people interact and have rites. Freud, on the other hand, explained religion as being neurotic due to people s obsession with security alongside the father. All in all, these three theorists attempted to reduce religion to its basic elements, which they later used to explain primitive life, and the reason for the continuity of religion in modern life. However, Mircea Eliade and Max Weber did not agree with the views. Weber and Eliade determined that the reductionist view did not give enough insight into religion, because they focused on primitive culture to say what religion was, information was confined to only western civilization, and in Freud s case religion was neurotic. Thus, Weber and Eliade rejected the reductionist views of Durkheim, Marx, and Freud. In Max Weber s refute of the three reductionists his ideal types point of view is applicable, which are formalized general categories. Mandatory Reporting of Near Misses. Reporting near misses is fundamental to error prevention. Near misses reflect potential failures in current processes, which proves invaluable for proactively reducing errors. According to Neily et al. • 19. Utilitarianism And Its Moral Value Utilitarianism is a theory that delineates the bounds of morality with respect to actions taken by individuals in terms of what produces the greatest amount of happiness for the greatest number of people. The principle seeks to define first the morality of an action, allowing for the morality of a person to be derived based on the intent behind the respective action. The fundamentals of a person s moralityare then presented in a form that labels the person behind a morally defined action as either praiseworthy or blameworthy, a conclusion based directly on the intent behind an action. The central concept behind utilitarianism, happiness, requires that there be an objective fact of the matter about how much happiness exists. Before defining happiness, instrumental and intrinsic value must also be introduced, as they are necessary concepts for defining the relationship between an action and its moral value. Instrumental value revolves around a certain anything s usefulness in seeing a process through completion, while a certain anything s intrinsic value stems from existential value alone. For example, a pair of glasses instrumental value comes from its usefulness in allowing a person to see clearly, while happiness itself is the certain anything with intrinsic value. As such, happiness exists as a plausible measure in defining the morality behind an action. If happiness is the only anything that has value simply in and of itself, then measuring total net happiness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is the same with saying that it is evil to commit murder because Godforbids murder. From that, immediately someone can object to Divine Command Theoryby saying that good and evil become subjective to the notion of God. If good and evil are solely based on the notion of God, then moralityis merely a will to power. Since God is mightier than any of us, all of morality boils down to it is either His way or nothing. The alternative to Divine Command Theory is the statement that the basis for morality lies outside of God and His commands, rather than at the mercy of His whim. This is the approach that is referred to as the Euthyphro Dilemma. This Euthyphro Dilemma can be stated best as a question: Is an action morally good because God commands it, or does God command an action because it is morally good? This question may cause someone to be tempted to abandon Divine Command Theory and instead see morality as something external to God. By saying that God commands something because it is morally good threatens the authority and independence of God. If an external principle, in this case the objective view of morality, is outside of God, then God is therefore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Upton Sinclair s The Jungle From the arrival of Jurgis family to an America that was not what they expected, to the loss of all hope in their lives, Upton Sinclair s The Jungle shows many instances where the immigrants and workers of the industries are severely exploited. Sinclair traveled to the stockyards in Chicago in order to observe the conditions the workers lived and worked in. What he found was disturbing, disgusting, and something of major importance to the public. Upton Sinclair s The Jungle provides an excellent example of the yellow journalism and muckraking that opened the eyes of many Americans during the 1900 s by showing the exploitation of the workers, the conditions of the workplace, and the products sold to the public. Before the time of muckrakers and yellow journalists came along, the conditions held in workplaces like Jurgis were disgusting and nauseating, but the public had no clue of any of this since this news was not being shared with the public. In The Jungle , many secrets about the sanitation and work laws conducted in the industries were kept secret from the public. Sinclair s character, Jurgis, provides an excellent point of view as a worker having to make a living in these conditions. For example, Jurgis points out that the livestock the businesses used for food production was unfit to be fed to human beings, saying that the meat was old and crippled and diseased , steerly , or covered in boils , and of course, company owners kept this from the public to continue sales and production (Sinclair 709). Analysis of Ralegh s Nature, that washed her hands in milk Nature, that washed her hands in milk can be divided structurally into two halves; the first three stanzas constitute the first half, and the last three stanzas make up the second half. Each stanza in the first half corresponds to a stanza in the second half. The first stanza describes the temperament of Nature, who is, above all, creative. This first stanza of the first half corresponds to stanza four, the first stanza in the second half of the poem. Stanza four divulges the nature of Time, who, unlike Nature, is ultimately a destroyer. He approaches that subject in the plain style, using short, proverbial phrases intended to make the reader aware of time and mutability. The poem contains several lines that are made entirely of one syllable words, which draw out the time it takes to read the line. Contrast lines 31 32 in Nature, that washed her hands in milk with lines 8 and 10 in Christopher Marlowe s The Passionate Shepherd to His Love (p. 989). Marlowe describes the land in which he lives, where Melodious birds sing madrigals, and beds are made of a thousand fragrant posies . Marlowe s verse sounds quick and light when spoken, simply because he uses fewer words in an eight syllable line. Ralegh, in contrast, often uses seven or eight words to fill the same eight syllable line: Oh, cruel Time! which takes in trust/Our youth, our joys, and all we have... Postman s first principle is that a definition is only a means of helping us achieve our goals. Definitions do not have the power to stop us from achieving our purposes. All subjects are based on metaphors. Education is currently seen as a business with the students as the clients. Language is a tree with deep roots. Metaphors are a cornerstone to how we grasp concepts and understand the knowledge we have. We really only know things in relation to other things, often by a metaphor Postman s fifth concept is reification. This is the confusing of words with things. It is with reification, that we can manipulate words to help us conceal ideas. Words like ethnic cleansing or final solution make a concept sound like it is a good thing, yet it really involves the massacre of millions of people. Reification displays to us that a person s word choice is profoundly influential to how we perceive a concept. Style and tone is the sixth concept used by Postman. Abstract The three phase squirrel cage induction motor is the most widely used motor type in the industry because of its good self starting capability, simple and rugged structure, low cost and reliability. In spite of this popularity, the induction motor has two basic limitations: (i) The standard motor is not a true constant speed machine, its full load slip varies from less than 1% (in high horsepower motors) to more than 5% (in fractional horsepower motors), and (ii) It is not inherently capable of providing variable speed operation. The limitations of induction motor can be solved through the use of adjustable speed control method of induction machine. In this paper, various method of speed control of induction motor drive are presented.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By doing this, the magnitude of the magnetic field in the stator is kept at an approximately constant level throughout the operating range. Thus, (maximum) constant torque producing capability is maintained. When transient response is critical, switching power converters also allow easy control of transient voltage and current applied to the motor to achieve faster dynamic response. II.
