The implied texture of the leaves in the painting is sturdy and prickly, and the
texture of the yellowed grass appears to be dry and coarse, however, the actual
texture of the painting itself is smooth. The artist also uses both curvilinear and

the resulting motion of objects as they fly through the air. Today we know that

barometric conditions of the air and the shape of the object. Additionally the
velocity of the object and its relationship with the air plays a role as well. For a
spinning ball, the speed of rotation affects the magnitude of the aerodynamic force

The orientation of the axis of rotation or spin axis can be varied by the pitcher
when the ball is thrown. If the axis is vertical, the lift force is horizontal and the

Introduction
Some fifty years ago, the perpetrator of Holocaust, Adolph Eichmann was put on
trial. The prosecutor referred to him as a new killer, but reporting about the same
trial, Hannah Arendt made a different conclusion. She made a point that Eichmann
was a bureaucrat, referring to him as a law binding citizen who performed his duties
and subscribed to relevant orders. The main assertion was that when a good person in
placed in a bad situation, then it is definite that bad things will happen Haidt 2012).
Since then, numerous evidences have always emerged to support this claim. A

While some, like in the case of Lucifer and Adam turn evil as a result of
disobedience and pride, a majority of good people always get themselves doing evil
as a result of innovation and creativity. As illustrated in the paper, different
perspectives have always been applied to explain how good people turn evil.

Pardoners in the Middle Ages Essay
Though told by a self confessed liar and hypocrite, the tale has a powerful moral and
imaginative effect. How far do you agree with this view of the text?
Chaucer s pardoner is an enigmatic, paradoxical figure, both intriguing yet repulsive.
From the very beginning of his Prologue the
Pardoner makes no attempts to hide his ypocrise, instead taking a perverse pleasure
in the extent of his corruption. As seen in the portrait of the Monk in The General
Prologue, Chaucer allows the
Pardoner to condemn himself. He purposely reveals his methods of extracting
money from the povereste widwe in a village his contempt for his usual audience of
lewed peple and complete disregard for the doctrines of the Church. The Pardoner s ...
Of course, we have to bear in mind that while the pilgrims hear the
Pardoner s rhetorical skills we hear Chaucer s skill as a poet. In his digression the
Pardoner melodramatically denounces a number of sins, making extensive use of
rhetorical devices such as hyperbole, anaphora and apostrophe:
O glotonye, ful of cursednesse!
O cause first of oure confusioun!
O original of oure dampnacioun.
He seems to use these to involve and unnerve his audience and effectively keep all
eyes on him. He alludes to both the Bible and classical mythology, citing Biblical
prophets, historical figures and philosophers. In contrast the tale itself is relatively
plainly told and we can safely assume that the Pardoner is well practiced in the art
of telling this specific tale and even inserts some of his sermon into it. His sermon is
based on several medieval conventions, such as that of the mysterious old man, whom
Dr. McIntyre identifies as a
representation of the immanence and inescapability of death, something which would
have struck a chord with a medieval audience suffering from the onslaught of the
Black Death.
The tale is an example of a very well defined genre with its own conventions and
devices; nevertheless the pardoner makes it his own through his own use of rhetorical
flourishes and poetic detail. He

There are two persons represented through this story as the supreme God. The
Supreme God is Lord Krishna, who reveals himself as Vishnu. Unlike Jesus,
Krishna only reveals himself to one person, Arjuna. Arjuna was having a hard time
deciding whether or not to fight his cousins. If Arjuna was to fight he would be
going against his family but, on Lord Krishna s side. Arjuna devoted himself
completely to Lord Krishna and fought his cousins, knowing this was what he had to
do. Lord Krishna realizes the devotion Arjuna undertook and revealed himself. Lord
