Theme Of Visual Imagery And Symbolism In The Poem Wilfred...
Decapitated Souls: A Study of Visual Imagery and Symbolism in Wilfred Owen s Disabled and Sylvia
Plath s The Applicant
Poetry often harbors an individual s outlook on society and harnesses their feelings into a work of
literature that evaluates the existential situation and holds a mirror to humanity. The poems Disabled ,
by World War I poet Wilfred Owen, and The Applicant by Confessional poet Sylvia Plath, are
renditions of self identity. In his poem, Wilfred Owen discusses the dark, post war neglect faced by a
war veteran as he struggles to adapt to his life after being decapitated on the battlefield and secluded
from society. Whereas, Sylvia Plath s monologue illustrates women essentially stripped of identity and
being forced to conform to gender stereotypes. Both poems make use of visual imagery and
symbolism to reflect the discrimination that leads to segregation within society and dehumanization of
spirit.
The poems, Disabled and The Applicant both make use of imagery to identify dehumanization of
spirit, however, both poets approach the idea with different images and perspectives. The anti war
poem exhibits the rejection felt by the wounded speaker, presumably Owen, through solemn imagery.
The poem illustrates that no matter how honorable the speaker s sacrifice appeared, his role in the post
war lifestyle is to be in the sidelines while people touch him like some queer disease (Owen 13)
because of his disability. The poem further moves on to reveal

The Importance Of Fighting In The NHL
Fighting has been a part of the NHL since 1922 and it has had a huge impact on the game of hockey
and the sport wouldn t be the same without it. There are a lot of injuries involved with fighting but if
fighting wasn t in pro hockey then there would probably be a lot more injuries. Some players would be
more chippy and run at people and get away with it without facing the consequences for it. Fighting
also has a key part in motivating a team if they aren t playing well.
A fight will spark your team and give them a little more jump in a game most of the time. Skilled
players that rarely fight even agree that fighting should not be taken out of hockey like Henrik
Zetterberg of the Detroit Red wings, Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks and ... Show more

Claude Lemiuex who played for many teams throughout his 21 year career in the NHL was known as
one of the biggest pests that has been in the league. Pests in the NHL are players that attempt to
antagonize opposing players with physical play and by chirping. He is best known for the infamous hit
on Kris Draper where he hit him from behind, forcing Drapers face into the boards. Draper suffered a
broken jaw, shattered cheek, and orbital bone which needed surgery that involved his jaw being wired
shut and a lot of stitches. This hit lead to the rivalry of the Detroit Red Wings and the Colorado
Avalanche. Throughout the next 5 years there were 2 or 3 line brawls between the two teams that even
included the goalies fighting. Darren McCarty got his revenge on Lemieux in the first brawl since the
Draper incident and blindsided him after a whistle in the game. That game had 18 major fighting
penalties that totaled up to 144 penalty minutes combined for both teams. If the NHL didn t have
fighting who knows what else he would have done in games to opposing players but by having
fighting in the game he knew that he would have pay for his actions so he did not play how he usually
did against the Red Wings. Lemieux only received a 2 game suspension and $1000 dollar fine for the
hit so having someone knock him around a little bit was a more suitable punishment. If fighting wasn t
allowed he never would have faced any consequences for that hit because in todays game he would
have been suspended for maybe 20 games or

Importance Of Dominance In Shakespeare s Sonnet 94
In Sonnet 94, Shakespeare shows a separation between those who have, but do not flaunt and those
who have and use to satisfy others. Society s preferred standards where flawed during the 17th
century. They played a part in how people were criticized. Shakespeare has a strong approval for those
who convey themselves in a humble manner, but deeply opposed the individuals who do not; all in all,
those who are differentiated should not be bad mouthed because of their actions, but helped to become
better.
Shakespeare starts Sonnet 94 with situations that present modesty between the ones who show
characteristics that others may not, but these individuals do not flaunt or boast about what they have.
Shakespeare has a deep approval them, but maybe they are unaware of what they have or it could be
that they are subconscious about themselves, which can cause them to act shelled. First, Shakespeare
introduced a person with a high authority than an ordinary individual. Dominance does not initiate
enforced obedience on account of possessing the higher position. Some people subconsciously utilize
their authority for their own personal benefit, but for those who do not, as Shakespeare stated in
Sonnet 94 (line 5), rightly do inherit heaven s grace . Next, an individual who restrained from intimate
activities was introduced. In a biblical sense, the restraint from intimate activity before marriage is the
righteous decision to make; although, if someone decided not to comply, no sin is

Innovation Management in the Automotive Design ...
ABSTRACT The car industry has constantly provided us the consumer with a wide range of choices
and varieties to suit our needs, but with the vast amount of competition how do car manufacturers
attract our attention. Unique designs, impressive technology, price and customer service are all the
areas consumers look for in a car, to meet these demands car manufactures need to constantly come up
with new ideas to stay ahead of other competitors, introducing creative ideas which are better than
what was in use previously is innovation. Innovation can also be implemented internally as it can help
manufacturers be more efficient and reduce costs before products are released. Depending on
resources and stature, each manufacturer will manage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Managing innovation effectively can turn companies around dramatically, allowing companies to be
ahead of its competitors. Introducing new technologies and products will help businesses attract
customers and provide a unique selling point. It can also help cut costs along with raising profits.
Effective innovation allows for new opportunities and may lead companies getting a larger market
share and may even break companies into new markets. Good innovation can also increase employee
motivation and moral creating an efficient working environment.
However having a good idea doesn t mean a company is innovative, making the idea work effectively
so that it brings value to the business is successful innovation. Furthermore innovation can also
propose risks and if not carefully executed innovation may harm the business. New ideas need to be
carefully executed after in depth research, if this is not done correctly a new idea is likely to fail
incurring unnecessary costs and falling profits. It may also result in competitors taking advantage of a
failed idea making a business vulnerable losing its clients as they may begin to look elsewhere.
Ultimately innovation is very important it is a strategy that needs to be implemented with a lot of
thought and analysis.

Exploring Social Patterns in the Renaissance Through Fashion
Exploring Social Patterns in the Renaissance Through Fashion
Fashion reflects the attitudes of a society more than any other art form. Like art, fashion is a material
record of the ideals that swayed the nations at the time of their creation. Through examining the styles,
and tastes of a particular era, we can realize where the interests and priorities of a time lie. As Frank
Parsons wrote in his 1920 study, The Psychology of Dress, There is surly no better field in which to
trace the devious paths of human thought than in that of clothes, where man has ever given free play
to self expression, in a way which, thought not always a credit to his intelligence, is yet quite true to
his innermost self, whether he will acknowledge it or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clothing expression in medieval Europe, like all other forms of artistic expression at this time, found
it s biggest outlet in the ecclesiastical field, as this was where all the money was to be found. The
churches employed all the best builders and craftsmen in creating their great cathedrals, and art works.
In clothing, the church dictated what sorts of materials were made, and brought into the area, what
colors were in use, and what styles were used, influencing the secular as well as ecclesiastical dress. In
the feudal system only great Barons and their families wore fine cloths, as clothing was a symbol of
rank and importance. Each family made their own clothes, so fashion was very individualistic in style,
and each family had their own characteristics. With an increase of wealth in the area, and the
beginning of the crusades, new elaborate styles were introduced into the scene. Fashions became
strange, and grotesque in nature reflecting the constant struggles and wars of the time, as fantasy and
the grotesque generally influence social costumes accompanying times of war. Women in their
headgear actually wore huge horns, like an ox, that towered above them and supported a veil, and men
s shoes were peaked and extended six inches in front of them for common men, and a foot for
gentlemen, and two feet for noblemen.
The church frowned on the extreme finery, painted faces, and low cut dresses of the women. But as

Chevy Colorado Truck Essay
The Chevrolet Colorado Provides Best In Class Performance and Comfort
The Chevrolet Colorado puts the power of a truck into the hands of those who are looking for
something lightweight, but with cargo and towing capacity. A full sized truck is not always the best
answer, especially when driveway or garage space is limited. The smaller midsize Colorado offers all
of the benefits of a truck without taking up the space of a full sized truck.
In 2004, General Motors introduced the Colorado as a replacement for their popular S10 trucks, and
the Colorado has proven to be just as popular. The 2016 diesel model is the proud recipient of the
2016 Motor Trend Truck of the Year award. The diesel is a new model option for 2016.
The Colorado offers power, performance and fuel efficiency. Its 2.8L turbo diesel engine sports 181 hp
and gives the truck the best in class towing capacity of 7,700 lbs, which makes it a good choice for
work or play. It is perfectly equipped to tow a boat or an equipment trailer. This model also delivers
the best in class fuel economy of 31 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg on the city streets. If you want
more power, the 3.6L DOHC V6 delivers 305 hp at 6,800 rpms with a rear axle ratio of 3.42. The V6

Comments of the German Delegation to the Paris Peace...
Case Study Week Two: Comments of the German Delegation to the Paris Peace Conference 1919 1.
According to the authors of Germany s complaint. The various provisions of the treaty hurt Germany s
economy by forcing Germany to accept full responsibility for the damages caused not only by the
Germans but also by everyone associated with them and the damage that was caused. As stated in the
article, Comments of the German Delegation to the Paris Peace Conference, 1919 President Wilson
recognized in his speech of 1916 no single fact caused the war, but that in the last analysis the whole
European system is in a deeper sense responsible for the war, with its combination of alliances and
understandings, a complicated texture of intrigues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead they were pretty much treated as if everything was their fault and they had sole responsibility
for the war and they were going to pay the price. 3. The fundamental Laws the document appeal to in
order to strengthen German assertions was the right to self determination. They felt that by being
deprived of that right, the feelings and wishes of all the people were being taken away and not being
considered. They were forced to abide by other nations wishes without any input as to what they
wished for themselves. 4. Personally I do agree that Germany was being mistreated. In my opinion,
they were being unfairly treated because what applied to one nation did not apply to them. They were
pretty much treated like they were the sole reason why the war started and they were being punished
for the actions and choices of many nations. It was as if in order to live in peace they had to give up
the very land and rights everyone was fighting for, especially the basic rights of the nations of self
determination. It is unreasonable and not right to force Germany to give up all power of their land, by
having another nation determine everything for them, for Germany to have to rebuild their country
and not benefit from it, rather the only benefit to rebuilding would be to other nations. I think
defenders of the treaty would respond to Germany s complaints by

A Short Summary Of Chapter 2 Self-Realization On Page 117...
In chapter 2 self realization on page 117 Krishna states, You were never born; you will never die. You
have never changed. Our soul is a constant energy. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed.
Krishna is saying that your soul will not die when your body that is in dies. Often when someone
passes you still have this notion that their soul is looking over you.
Our bodies give us our human looks but our souls are what gives us personality gives us what makes
us who we are. Krishna goes onto say in chapter 2 on page 117, As one abandons worn out clothes and
acquires new ones, so when the body is worn out a new one is acquired by the Self, who lives within. I
think Krishna is touching on the idea that when one body that a soul is in

Comparing The Once And Future King
Written by T. H. White, The Once and Future King tells the life of King Arthur. In four books, T. H.
White chronicles the rise and fall of King Arthur. The Sword and the Stone, the first book of The Once
and Future King, details what King Arthur learned as a child when he was not known to be the next
King of England under the influence of his pacifistic tutor Merlyn. He learns that being fair and just is
better than power and tyranny. In the next book, The Queen of Air and Darkness, King Arthur is
guided by Merlyn and applies what he learned as a child to his reign as King to create the Round Table
, where all knights are equal and will use their Might for Right , using their power for good, not
tyranny. In the third book, The Ill Made Knight, King Arthur tries to keep his Round Table from
splitting, all the while his wife, Guenever, and his best knight and friend, Lancelot, are rumoured to be
having an affair. In The Candle in the Wind, the last book, King Arthur creates laws and uses trials,
juries, and evidence to instil justice as his last attempt to create a perfect society. Throughout his life,
King Arthur is seen as benevolent, brave, chivalrous, open minded, progressive, determined,
optimistic, and faithful. King Arthur s traits portray him positively, but he is not perfect and his flaws
can sometimes portray him negatively. King Arthur was told he would be a squire for his brother, Kay,
who would be knighted. Arthur did not know who his biological parents were,

Analysis Of John Milton s The Of Mere Christianity
Often in life we are faced with choices. They could be as simple as what you should wear that day or
as important as what degree you should pursue. It is the more important choices in our lives however,
that will define who we are and effect our future. C.S Lewis stated in his book, Mere Christianity, that
Every time you make a choice you are turning the central part of you, the part that chooses, into
something different than it was before. And taking your life as a whole, with all your innumerable
choices, all your life long you are slowly turning this central thing into a heavenly creature or a hellish
creature. There are two books, Pilgrims Progress and Paradise Lost, that are perfect examples of this
quote. Pilgrims Progress, by John Bunyan, is about the difficulties that a Christian faces throughout
his journey towards the Celestial City. Paradise Lost, by John Milton, is, on the other hand, a story
about Satan s fall from heaven and His deception of Adam and Eve. These two great works of
literature give clear examples of how choices effect the outcome of one s life. In John Bunyan s
Pilgrims Progress there are several characters whose choices greatly implement their situation. The
main character, whose name is Christian, has striking illustrations of this. Christian is depicted in the
book as a man who has a great burden to be saved, which leads him to journey to the Celestial City to
be with Christ. The first decision he makes, the choice

Teaching Students With Special Needs
We live in a world where we exclude people who are different and that needs to change not only in the
workplace, but also school. Students with special needs have always been separated from a regular
classroom. By including special needs children, this will help the student not only thrive in academics
but also in life by gaining social and technical skills. Students will feel like they are part of a regular
classroom and are not excluded because of their disability. By students having a regular learning
environment they can start to master particular content and skills. Parents are scared because they
have many questions that they don t feel like are being answered. For example, are there children
going to be getting the attention needed in a general education classroom? and are there effective
methods for students with disabilities to accommodate to in an inclusive setting? . These students will
not receive the support needed but with inclusion they will have the services needed in a regular
classroom. General education teachers will receive the supportive resources in their classroom and
will be prepared for having special needs children in their classrooms. If we keep students separated
from regular classrooms we are not allowing them to thrive. Special needs students are not pushed to
their full potential because they are put into a classroom that clusters all ages and teaches to all
students at once. There are many issues that come with inclusion. An issue with

Government Interaction after Hurricane Katrina
According to the Business Dictionary, government involvement is considered any regulatory action
taken by a government in order to affect or interfere with decisions. Many accuse the United States
national government of minimal and slow actions taken after the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina. Others
share the blame of this response between local, state, and national governments. This research paper
will focus on the government s interaction after the strike of a furious Hurricane Katrina.
Katrina hit New Orleans, Louisiana on August 29th, 2005, but the failure of the government started
before this day by allowing building and growing in areas in low flood lands. The government did not
regulate these land areas that have always been at a threat for flooding and natural disaster, which was
ignored by the government and public, and was in place, still a place for growing infrastructure.
Failures included by the author of the national agencies include design limits that can lead to levees
being overtopped by flood and hurricane events that are larger than they were designed for and design
flaws and construction and maintenance shortcomings that lead to protective works being breached
when they cannot stand up to the forces exerted by large flood and hurricane events. The author also
points out the problems with the hundred year flood event, which only has a one percent chance of
happening every year. When the NFIP focuses on this possible catastrophe, it losses the

There is no question that there are helpful and harmful attributes to elevation. The argument is
whether these effects are enough to cause an unfair advantage and are they dangerous enough to
warrant a rule to be made about it. There are many things that come into question when addressing the
affects elevation has on athletes such as: the effects of air resistance, air density, low oxygen levels,
and a weaker gravitational pull (Ward Smith). When people think of elevation most people think of in
the mountains or thousands of feet in the air. That is not the case. All of these handicaps and issues can
affect athletic events that are held in heights as low as one thousand five hundred feet. At this altitude
there is approximately 16% less oxygen in the air (Altitude). At first glance this does not seem like a
big difference but when a highly trained athlete is competing this can be the difference between a loss
or a win. Another measurement of oxygen intake at elevation is the study published in the Journal of
Applied Physiology in 1996, trained and untrained cyclists were asked to undergo a Vo2max test,
Vo2max is the rate of oxygen consumed during the exercise test, at while at sea level and again at five
hundred and eighty meters. The result: the effects were negligible in the untrained group, but in the
trained group VO2max dropped by an average of 6.8% due to a fall in arterial oxygen saturation
(Runner s Connect). If a hypothetical athlete is at one hundred

Civil war, and is meticulously written about two snipers. Although the story was written almost one

The main conflict in the story is the two snipers, and how each try to outsmart and kill the other. What

He played football, swimming, water basketball and was the track team manager. He liked to also
work on the high school newspaper called the Trapeze, where he wrote his first articles. He imitated
the style of writer Ring Lardner who wrote with a sense of humor. Hemingway graduated high school
in 1917 but instead of going to college like his parents wanted him to, he took a job as a reporter for
the Kansas City Star. His uncle was responsible for him getting the job, because he knew the top
editor. While Hemingway worked for the Kansas City Star he learned about how to write, and it
showed in his later works of fiction. The newspaper advocated short sentences, short paragraphs,
active verbs, authenticity, compression, clarity and immediacy. Hemingway later said: Those were the
best rules I ever learned for the business of writing. I ve never forgotten them (Young 36). The same
time Ernest was graduating, World War I had started in Europe. Even though President Wilson tried to
keep the US out of the war, they helped other countries in the fight against Germany and Austria.
When Hemingway turned eighteen he tried to enlist in the army, but they turned him away because of
poor vision. He had a bad eye like his mother. When he heard the Red Cross wanted volunteers for
ambulance drivers he quickly signed up. The Red Cross accepted him so he left his job at the paper in

motivations of David and the members of the Hayden family. David Kaczynski and Wes have parallel
viewpoints on adherence to the principled administration of the law. David has lived the typical life of
most civilians until he learns that his brother Ted is the infamous Unabomber. He is interviewed by
Pilkington and describes his experience of unfolding the grim truth. Pilkington describes David
Kaczynski s initial thoughts after revealing Ted to law enforcement: Kaczynski confessed to his
mother that he had informed on Ted to the FBI, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[He] won t. By God [he] won t (Watson 143). Wes s role in the justice system suddenly strikes him as
he recognizes that burying the truth only encourages falsehood to build. This awareness provokes
forceful emotions to course through Wes s mind as he expresses frustration with a violent fist. At first,
Wes criticizes himself for thinking he could offer mercy to a convict. It becomes apparent to him that
lawbreakers invariably deserve some form of punishment for their wrongdoings. He shakes his head at
the bias of the the corrupt jury which would cut [Frank] loose simply because of his infallible
reputation. Nonetheless, Wes swears to God that he will penalize his brother despite the county s
majority point of view. Obeying and prosecuting the rules should be prioritized over one s image. The
fact that the criminal is his own brother fails to persuade his mindset. A lawbreaker will be a
lawbreaker regardless of his or her assumed character. Wes is prepared to take the first initiative and
perhaps stir up trouble in the community in order to do what is morally right. Both pieces of literature
strongly convey the message that one must defend the law. David voluntarily exposes Ted to the FBI
knowing he is jeopardizing his brother s life while Wes concludes that Frank is not entitled to mercy
and should serve time in jail. These men are in similar scenarios, for they are conflicted by the choice
between family or justice. Nonetheless, they feel the

Analysis Of Stability In Motion By Marina Keegan
Stability in Motion is written by a Marina Keegan about her car. While reading this short story, readers
get an insight of what her car means to her. This short story lets readers into the happy and sad times
in the life of Marina Keegan, with the many personal elements and stories that she includes. In
Stability in Motion , Marina Keegan shows her audience that her car is not only her transportation, but
her place of happiness and her best friend.
Marina Keegan s title Stability in Motion is important to the purpose of the story. Stability in Motion
describes her car. Her car is her stability , her rock , the thing that keeps her sane. Her car is also the
motion because she finds her sanity inside of her car while she is driving, or when she is in motion . In
paragraph 12 she says, I talked a lot in my car. Thousands of words and songs and swears are absorbed
in its fabric, her car is her safe place that she can turn to whenever she needs time by herself. The
purpose of Stability in Motion is to show how a relationship with an inanimate object, such as a car,
can help a person through each day. The context of Stability in Motion is very genuine. Marina
Keegan writes as if this story is meant to be kept in private and not for other eyes to see. It is very
personal, as she includes many details about herself. Her reflections show vulnerability, giving readers
an honest view of Marina that is unexpected from a writer. She shows in stories how much her friends
and family members mean to her. In paragraph 11 she says, There was a folder left behind from the
day I drove my dad to an interview the month after he lost his job. It was coincidental that his car was
in the shop, but I knew he felt more pathetic that it was he, not his daughter, in the passenger seat. I
kept my eyes on the road, feeling the confused sadness of a child who catches a parent crying. This is
a sad time in her family s life that she chooses to share with her readers to show how much she cares
and is willing to help her father, even if all she can do to help is to drive him to an interview. One of
the most personal stories she shares is in paragraph 10 when she says, Above this newspaper are the

Food Waste Disposal and Reduction
According to the Society of St. Andrew the United States spends about 1 billion dollars a year just to
dispose of food waste (1). Food waste is food material that is unable to be eaten or sold which is
discarded as trash. Food should be too precious to Americans to waste. It nourishes people s bodies
and brings families together, and they treat food as if it has little to no worth. Food is discarded on
farms, while being transported and in retail stores before being sold; it is also discarded in everyday
households. Americans are their own enemy, increasing food waste everyday by not being aware of
the outcome. Reducing food waste will bring upon many benefits within society but consumers and
businesses have to be willing to put forth the effort. There are simple solutions that can be implicated
in production, distribution and households in order to decrease food waste. The quality of food in
society has declined due to its accessibility. There are convenient grocery stores in a communities
selling food. There is an enormous amount of people suffering from poverty and hunger. There are
854 million people in the world who are chronically malnourished. (Sanchez 1). People suffering from
world hunger, do not receive enough intake of nutrients that are composed in food, some do not eat at
all receiving no nutrients. The increase of food waste is decreasing other natural resources like water,
land, and energy. Landfills are becoming more popular, the thrown out food has to be

The Importance Of Attention Autism In Special Schools
This action research project takes place in a primary special school. The school caters for 96 children
with a range of complex learning difficulties, across 3 sites, 2 of which are based within mainstream
schools. In 2010 I became aware of the Attention Autism approach after attending a masters
residential weekend at Birmingham University where I attended a presentation by Gina Davies
(Davies, 2010a). Following this I attended the Day 1 and Day 2 training days (Davies 2010b) and
Gina supported the setup of Attention Autism across the Key Stage 1 classes of the school. There was
an immediate benefit seen across the school with a significant rise in PSHE attention attainment. The

There is plenty of time to think and pauses are used to allow pupils the opportunity to spontaneously
use language, without pressure. Bellon, Ogletree and Harn (2000) used similar strategies to promote
spontaneous language in a child with autism: pausing; adapting language complexity and expanding
on the child s own utterances. Across the school everyone is much more aware of the use of language
that is appropriate to a child s needs. However, we identified times when it is appropriate to give
children time to watch something, and provide them with key words that naturally describe what is
happening. A discussion occurred around the importance of not always using this strategy and at many
points throughout the school day immersing children in a range of language

What Is The Theme Of Mrs Frisby
Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is a story about a group of animals on a farm who do everything in
their power to salvage their home. Mrs. Frisby is the head of the farm who everyone turns too because
she is so kind and loving. Lately, it hasn t been easy for Mrs., Frisby because she has been caring for
her very sick son. In efforts to help him get better, she seeks out Mr., Agnes, a wise mouse, for some
medicine that will work its magic on her son Timothy. Although things begin looking up for Timothy s
well being, summer was quickly approaching and Timothy was in charge of changing over their home

This storyline was all based around moving Mrs. Frisby home to safety in order to steer clear of
plowing season. Throughout the story, we are able to witness Mrs. Frisby go to extreme lengths to
save her home and keep her family happy. Although it is not an easy process, Mrs. Frisby never gave
up. Her home was her safety net and the place where her family could all be together. Mrs. Frisby and
her children were especially lucky to even have a house. Although it was a slightly damaged cinder
block, the hollow kind with two ovals through it, but it was the place they called home and they would
make it work no matter what the season (pg. 38). There was no way she was going to let it all be
destroyed by the farmers. Instead of relocating, she travels all over to find a way to solve her problem,
which, in the end, is accomplished. In comparison to the impact Mrs. Frisby s home has on her life,
the rats of NIMH don t really have a set home. They are not dependent on one certain place, which is
why they come up with a plan to re locate when they find out the rosebush is going to be torn down.
To them, home is wherever they can live independently or create a place for themselves. At this stage
in their life, they are more focused on trying to be independent enough so they don t have to depend
on anyone for anything. They are highly trained to live and work in any condition. Unlike Mrs. Frisby,

A Process For The Patient And Family Unit Essay
Cancer survivorship transitioning is a process for the patient and family unit. Patients and families
navigate to a new normal . Current transitioning from oncology care to primary care leaves a gap in
continuity of care. Patients must adapt to a change in the health care regimen. Patients and their
families may feel anxiety, returning to primary care, or patients and their families may have
psychological distress as vigilance becomes more ominous in primary care. Cancer survivors
transitioning from oncology care to primary care at a rural Minnesota health care facility may not
receive the same vigilance of all the biopsychosocial elements obtained in oncology care; there is no
standardization of screening for psychological distress by a cancer survivor in primary care unless
patient and/or family self reports or provider recognizes apparent symptoms of the psychological
distress.
Purpose of Project
The PICOT question is: In cancer survivors and their families residing in a Minnesota rural population
(P), how does the initiation of the Distress Thermometer screening tool to monitor psychological
distress (I) compared to patient self report (C) soften the impact of transitioning to primary care after
oncology care (O) during a three month period (T).

Economic And Political Inequalities Of America
Economic and Political Inequalities
Public subsidies are allowing for multinational companies like Walmart and McDonald s to pay such
low wages, which in turn provides social services like food stamps, Medicaid and public housing. Out
of all U.S. companies Wal mart employees are the largest recipients of public welfare, receiving about
$6.2 billion a year in mostly federal subsidies. Because they are making such nominal hourly wages
these services are essential for the well being of the American public. Workers and consumers alike
are encapsulated within this system, with the Walton family even controlling a large portion of the
region s banking system. Jim Walton, son of Sam Walton, controls 96% of Arvest Bank. His father and
mother purchased the Bank of Bentonville in 1961 when it had a holding of approximately $3.5
million. Today, it controls over $15 billion of assets. If you look at their growth, it is clear that Arvest,
the Walton banking industry, is following the path of Walmart and headed toward the path of
globalization.
Public policy is a driving factor behind all of this. Walmart holds supreme legal power due to its vast
wealth, meaning stakeholders are able to pay off any organization or individual that stands in the way
of their economic development goals. From Hillary s involvement with Walmart to Bill s signing
signing into effect NAFTA and WTO, the Clinton administration is a direct example of how political

Cultural Competence In Social Work
Cultural competence is a major component in social work as it enables us to communicate effectively
with people of different background and cultures. (Suppes Wells, p. 79.) By definition, culture is a
universal phenomenon as it refers to family values, education, work, religion, success, food, and social
class. (NASW, p. 14.) In this paper, I will compare and contrast my own cultural background with that
of one of my best friends, Dawn Denny who happens to be a Guyanese.
Most Haitians place a great emphasis on family values regardless of their social status. While both
parents play a vital role in the family, the male is the dominant one, the head of the house, despite the
fact that the mother works, rears, cares for the children and maintains the house. It s tremendously
hard to get a job in Haiti as the labor industry is extremely bias, you not only need to know someone
from the inside, but it is also based on age and color of your skin. The younger, the lighter the skin
pigment, and the more likely it is to get hired. As a result of that, women often struggle with sexual
harassment in the work place. The probability of getting a job without a college degree is very slim to
none so therefore, a college education is crucial. A child primary responsibility is to focus in school
and get good grades until graduated college, but because college tuition is so expensive, only the
upper class can afford to send their kids to school. The middle and the lower

Most people in our society generally have the opinion that violence on television increases aggression
in children and adolescents. Does it ? Who is to say whether television has a positively direct effect or
a positive correlation ? However, the majority of the people who have researched this topic have
discovered that violence on television is indeed one of the prime factors contributing to the increase in
violent and aggressive behavior among the youth in society. That is to say there has been a growth of
strong evidence to suggest that television violence does play an important and contributory part in the

In the minds of young children, television is a source of entirely factual information regarding how the
world works. For instance, as a child I could remember imitating violent acts after watching violent
movies such as Superman, Star Wars, Star
Trek, and Rocky. It felt fun to imitate these so called heroes because it seemed like the characters in
the movies were invincible. Moreover, the main characters in the movies were always liked and
respected. There are many other examples that confirm that people imitate violence scenes on
television. For instance, the cartoon Beavis and Butthead on MTV in the United States was widely
criticized for depicting the cartoon characters shaped like cigarettes. The cartoon also gained national
attention when a young five year old fan from the United
States set fire to his house after watching the show. This was due to the fact that in one of the
episodes, Beavis and Butthead were going around setting fires to houses. Furthermore, in a resent
incident in Norway, two children beat another child by jumping and kicking the child in the head and
other parts of her body numerous times. As a result, the child died from being left out in the cold
because she was not able to move due to her injuries. Later the officials had discovered that the
barbaric incident was due to the fact that the children had watched the violent cartoon Mighty
Morphin Power
Rangers. The children thought that the girl would later get up because

TS1 Task Scenarios

Task Scenarios in Sequential Way
According to the table2 of department responsibility and corresponding tasks, the most frequent task
scenarios will be defined as following.
TS1 Inform a Meeting Notice
Intents
To notify the people whom should attend a meeting.
Trigger
The meeting is going to be initiating (after 30 minutes).

1. The GM just checked the schedule of today in the morning, on 10:00 o clock there is a meeting

The primary Intents are normally from the initiator of a task. If taking a deep reflection of those steps
of task scenarios, individuals of their corresponding roles in a same task scenario could have goals or
expectations diversely. Therefore, as designers should consider the individual needs from their each
respective roles in a same task process, rather than just locate the initiator s intents at the highest
priority position.
Take TS1 for an instance, the Intents of this specified task from an initiator is to let all related persons
be successful informed with an impending meeting message. From the message receiver s perspective,
there are no explicit intents for them. However, the task couldn t even be perceived as achieved
without considering the message deliveries, moreover, how could these messages be delivered,
whether any confirmation or feedback from the receiver to initiator?
Imaging of those task processes being executed via the design system, the same, the initiator shall
utilize functional modules to achieve his or her intents, and receivers will get or be aware of those
intents via some objects

The Relationship Between Government Revenue From Taxes And...
The Laffer curve is a concept which explains the relationship between government revenue from taxes
and tax rates. The concept of the Laffer curve is that the higher the tax rate is the lower the output, that
is to say for example, if the government imposed a higher tax rate, production would be lower and
government revenue would therefore be lower. The Laffer curve was developed by an economist by
the name of Arthur Laffer, a professor at the University of Chicago. Arthur Laffer does not take all
credit for this theory, he claimed it was not new and that the concept was pretty straightforward and
people already knew about it many years ago. The origin of the Laffer curve goes back to an article
written by Jude Wanniski, associate editor of the Wall street journal at that time. Sometime in
December of 1974, Wanniski had dinner with Laffer, Donald Rumsfeld who was the chief of staff to
president Gerald Ford, and Rumsfeld s deputy Dick Cheney, who was a former classmate of Laffer at
Yale. All four were having dinner at a restaurant in Washington D.C. while they were talking about
President Ford s Whip Inflation Now proposal for tax increments then suddenly Laffer grabbed a
napkin and a pen then proceeded to sketch a curve on the napkin about the relationship between tax
rates and tax revenues. Jude Wanniski decided to name this relationship The Laffer Curve . And that is
how The Laffer curve began. Vast majority of companies want to maximize their profit, so it

A Rhetorical Analysis of David Leonhardt s Deporting Dreamers 2017
The job of a writer is never done. New information is always being thrown at writers such as David
Leonhardt, begging to be judged and characterized, not as good nor bad, but worthy of reading.
Immigration is ingrained in our society as Americans, that s how America was born.
In this article, David Leonhardt assesses the ins and outs of illegal immigration, while simultaneously
stating his opinion on the matter. In this article, Leonhardt argues about the severity and use of
prosecutorial discretion on laws of immigration and how it affects the American people.
The author s credibility is established before, throughout, and at the end of the article by giving
sources from media news, such as CNN and other publications from the New York Times. The
problem with CNN being a media news source is that information isn t always proven true and is often
opinionated. On , Karen Douglas, Business Insider, 2017 , from a poll taken of 3000 random
participants, CNN was considered more or less distrustworthy. This poll supports the statistical
evidence that declares CNN s information 47% untrue or false on (CNN File PunditFact 2017) . If
David uses CNN for statistical reports to support his left sided point of view, how can we know if
what he says is even true? We can t. However, the author uses emotional reasoning and empathy to
sway the reader into understanding and accepting his point of view, even if the view is not 100% true.
In the first paragraph, the author presents the reader with multiple quotes from the Former White
House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer. Spicer argues about the subject of prosecutorial discretion against
Dreamer and uses Felony Tax Evasion to explain the absurdity of selectively choosing when to uphold
laws. The author does include a solution from Sean Spicer s quote, saying They should petition our
lawmakers and the government will change it (Spicer Paragraph three). This quote doesn t support the
author s point of view and leaves the reader confused. The author then proceeds to imply that the
President is, Taking to the Extreme when it comes to upholding the law. The author switches tones in
the next paragraph to more of

profound message that resonated in the minds of black youth during the end of the 20th century. It
meant that, as a black youth, you had to either be a successful drug hustler or an amazing athlete to
live comfortable financially. Young Christopher Wallace, a boy growing up in Brooklyn, New York
during the rise of crack, was set on becoming rich and this was his formula for doing so. He was far
too overweight for sports and besides, hustling crack gave a much quicker payout (Coker). So if
selling drugs was, in his opinion, the only means of hitting it rich, why is the above quote not being
cited as coming from Christopher Wallace: Drug ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though Gladwell is correct in telling us that opportunity is a key component to success, his emphasis
on the importance of opportunity and less on a person s own individuality and character traits, is
absurd. A person s traits are important because they are characteristics upon which talent is dependent,
and talent is no less an important factor to success than opportunity is. If a talent without opportunity
leads to little to no achievement, then what kind of outcome does one get from opportunities without
talent? The opportunities that Wallace received as Biggie Smalls were simple, and ones that Gladwell
would most certainly agree with. Like hundreds of other black youths, Biggie grew up in the 1980s,
during the golden age of hip hop. Hip hop, to young blacks and the recently paroled, was a means of
leaving the streets and a life of poverty ( Remembering the Golden Age of Hip hop. ). He took to
rapping on street corners, which was also a popular thing to do at the time ( Notorious B.I.G. Bigger
Than Life ). The biggest opportunity of his life was probably Sean Puffy Combs insistence that he be
signed to a record deal. But why Biggie Smalls and not the countless other young rappers, such as
Chico Del Vec and Lonnie Common Lyn, who also rapped on the street corners of New York, given
the same opportunity? Furthermore, how did he become so successful despite being an overweight,
dark black kid with a lazy eye during a time when hip hop was

Consumer Perception Of Consumer Behavior Essay
Consumer Perception
Consumer behaviours are constructed by their attitudes, and the attitude itself is the result of the
consumers perception (Fishbein Ajzen, 1975). This construct is explored in the Theory of Reasoned
Action, where Fishbein and Ajzen (1975) state this in regards to attitude behaviour relationships.
When it comes to greenwashing, research has found that this attitude behaviour relationship could
manipulate the perception of the consumer. The consumer perceptions when it comes to companies
can be explained by: perceived deception, which is caused by an organization which misleadingly
advertises its product as being green (Newell et al., 1998); perceived scepticism, from consumers
regarding an environmental claim which could then decrease any possible positive impact on
consumer behaviour (Albayrak et al., 2011), and; perceived inconsistency, which is caused by a
company s inconsistency in relation to advertising claims about being green versus their actual
behaviour (Gallicano, 2011). Consumer perceptions towards products can be explained using the
concepts of: perceived distrust, which is an unwillingness to have confidence in a product, this can
stem from an expectation resulting from a lack of credibility and/or environmental performance (Chen
Chang, 2013); perceived risk, which is connected to possible consequences of a wrong decision (Peter
Ryan, 1976), and; perceived confusion, which arises as a result of consumers failing to acquire

The Journal of Christopher Columbus Essay
The Journal of Christopher Columbus is the day to day journal/diary writing of Christopher
Columbus. He started taking notes of his journey starting the year of 1492. This took place mostly on
his voyage over the Atlantic Ocean on his way to the Indies, and also on the lands he discovers on the
way to his destination. He wrote every day of his journeys as a journal to the king and queen of his
discoveries.
The period it came from was a very long time in the past during the year 1492. Back when the Moors
ruled most of Europe and was just over came by the King and Queen of Spain. Columbus wrote many
entries in the journal. Some were fairly large entries consisting of a few paragraphs, then some might
only be a few sentences of where his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people of the lands Columbus and his crew touched down on were very welcoming. As said by
Columbus in his journal Presently we discovered two or three villages, and the people all came down
to the shore, calling out to us, and giving thanks to God. An old man came on board my boat; the
others, both men and women cried with loud voices: Come and see the men who have come from the
sky. Bring them victuals and drink.
The main idea behind the voyage was to find a faster route to the Indies, as well as introduce
Christianity and The King and Queen to the new world along with its inhabitants. As said by
Columbus Your Highnesses, as Catholic Christians, and princes who love and promote the holy
Christian faith, and are enemies of the doctrine of Mahomet, and of all idolatry and heresy, determined
to send me, Christopher Columbus, to the above mentioned countries of India, to see the said princes,
people, and territories, and to learn their disposition and the proper method of converting them to our
holy faith; and furthermore directed that I should not proceed by land to the East, as is customary, but
by a Westerly route, in which direction we have hitherto no certain evidence that any one has gone.
Like said, it shows that Columbus wished to find a faster route, so Spain could easily be able to
obtained traded goods which would produce more profit for the country of Spain. This kind of shows
that Spain needed to find this route due

Deception In Cyrano De Bergerac
In the Play Cyrano De Bergerac the author contrast the characters against each other to show the
theme of inner and outer beauty, and the danger of deception. In play Cyrano, the hero, has all the
traits of a Gascon except one. He is not a ladies man, because he believes his large nose makes him
undesirable. This self doubt leads to him helping Christian De Neuvillette win Roxanne s love, but it
is under false pretense. What Roxanne loves most about Christian is his intellect but, Roxanne only
thinks he s smart because of the letters Cyrano wrote.
In the play several characters are contrasted with Cyrano, to show his inner and lack of outer beauty.
Count De Guiche, the villain of the story is used to show Cyrano s honor and bravery. Count De

Examples Of Cowardice In The Kite Runner
In the novel The Kite Runner the text explores many different ways the relationships and people
surrounding a person can shape one s self, this is most prevalent in Amir. During Amir s childhood, he
is constantly vying for Baba s attention and affection. Amir s cowardice is seen through many
different examples in the novel, mainly Assef and his violent actions bring forth his cowardice in
many forms. Hassan is Amir s best friend in the beginning of the novel, he is also a role model to
Amir. In the novel, Baba shapes Amir s negative sense of self through his obvious discontent with his
own son, If I hadn t seen the doctor pull him out of my wife with my own eyes, I d never believe he s
my son (Hosseini 23). Amir feels ashamed of himself due to his father s disappointment, which in turn
triggers more feelings of self doubt. Amr believes he must redeem himself to Baba because of how his
mother died. Amir strives to redeem himself in Baba‟s eyes, primarily because his mother died giving
birth to him, and he feels responsible (Saraswat 169). This inevitably leads to Amir s obsession with
pleasing Baba. Through Amir s need to please his father, he in turn ends up disregarding those around
him. This is shown when Amir ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As well as his need to recognize the past not hide from it. I became what I am today...because the past
claws its way out. Looking back now, I realise I have been peeking into that deserted alley for the last

define himself as a result of them. Later in the novel, Amir finds a form of redemption for his inaction
that night in the alleyway when he chooses to return to Afghanistan and save Hassan s only

Environmental Science Career Paper
When I am finished with my Master s Degree through Kaplan University I plan on becoming an
Environmental Health Scientist. In this paper, I will explain what an Environmental Health Scientist
is, the educational requirements including any certifications and credentials and the personality traits
that best suit this career. I will also outline my career goals and how Kaplan can help me achieve
them. Finally, I will go over where I see myself in five years.
An Environmental Health Scientist conducts research for eliminating hazards or pollutions that
negatively affect the environment or population. This is most often done by collecting samples from
air, food, soil and water and then analyzing to see if it contains any hazards. After the research and
analysis is complete, the data reported on and recommendations on eliminating or avoiding the hazard
are made. The reporting and recommendations are provided to government agencies, environmental
agencies, industry and to the public. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dwight D. Eisenhower was the thirty forth president of the United States. He was born on October 14,
1890 in Denison, Texas. He soon moved to Abilene, Kansas, the place where he grew up, at one and a
half years old. Eisenhower was the third oldest of his parent s seven children. Eisenhower attended
Abilene High School until he graduated in 1909. For the next two years after his graduation, he
worked at a creamery with his uncle and his father to help pay for his brother s college tuition. In
1911, he was admitted into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Throughout high school and
college, Eisenhower enjoyed participating in various sports, but academically, he was average. After

He was able to defeat Robert A. Taft to get his name on the ballot, and Richard Nixon became
Eisenhower s running mate. In his campaign, he promised to end the Korean War. Also, he promoted
the Taft Hartley Act to stop labor union acts. He also promised for the government to stop spending so
much money on military. On November 4, 1952, Eisenhower was elected president against his
political opponent, Adlai Stevenson, by a landslide. Eisenhower served as president for eight years
from January 20, 1953 to January 20, 1961, winning the presidential election in 1956. In 1956, his
opponent was, once again, Adlai Stevenson. Eisenhower s success in ending the Korean War and
helping the nation as a whole helped him win the election even with his health conditions. During his
time as president, the biggest challenge he faced was how to deal with the Civil Rights issue. Many
African Americans and minorities were still discriminated in this time period. Also, after the Cold
War, Joseph McCarthy convinced many people to believe that the government was being overtaken by
communism. Also, Eisenhower had to deal with some recessions during this time. However, the 1950s
was actually a quite peaceful period economically for the most part. Eisenhower completed a lot
during his eight years as president. He helped stop the Korean War and developed the interstate
highway system. Also, in 1957 and 1960, he signed two Civil Rights Acts that helped protect African

  • 2. Theme Of Visual Imagery And Symbolism In The Poem Wilfred... Decapitated Souls: A Study of Visual Imagery and Symbolism in Wilfred Owen s Disabled and Sylvia Plath s The Applicant Poetry often harbors an individual s outlook on society and harnesses their feelings into a work of literature that evaluates the existential situation and holds a mirror to humanity. The poems Disabled , by World War I poet Wilfred Owen, and The Applicant by Confessional poet Sylvia Plath, are renditions of self identity. In his poem, Wilfred Owen discusses the dark, post war neglect faced by a war veteran as he struggles to adapt to his life after being decapitated on the battlefield and secluded from society. Whereas, Sylvia Plath s monologue illustrates women essentially stripped of identity and being forced to conform to gender stereotypes. Both poems make use of visual imagery and symbolism to reflect the discrimination that leads to segregation within society and dehumanization of spirit. The poems, Disabled and The Applicant both make use of imagery to identify dehumanization of spirit, however, both poets approach the idea with different images and perspectives. The anti war poem exhibits the rejection felt by the wounded speaker, presumably Owen, through solemn imagery. The poem illustrates that no matter how honorable the speaker s sacrifice appeared, his role in the post war lifestyle is to be in the sidelines while people touch him like some queer disease (Owen 13) because of his disability. The poem further moves on to reveal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of Fighting In The NHL Fighting has been a part of the NHL since 1922 and it has had a huge impact on the game of hockey and the sport wouldn t be the same without it. There are a lot of injuries involved with fighting but if fighting wasn t in pro hockey then there would probably be a lot more injuries. Some players would be more chippy and run at people and get away with it without facing the consequences for it. Fighting also has a key part in motivating a team if they aren t playing well. A fight will spark your team and give them a little more jump in a game most of the time. Skilled players that rarely fight even agree that fighting should not be taken out of hockey like Henrik Zetterberg of the Detroit Red wings, Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Claude Lemiuex who played for many teams throughout his 21 year career in the NHL was known as one of the biggest pests that has been in the league. Pests in the NHL are players that attempt to antagonize opposing players with physical play and by chirping. He is best known for the infamous hit on Kris Draper where he hit him from behind, forcing Drapers face into the boards. Draper suffered a broken jaw, shattered cheek, and orbital bone which needed surgery that involved his jaw being wired shut and a lot of stitches. This hit lead to the rivalry of the Detroit Red Wings and the Colorado Avalanche. Throughout the next 5 years there were 2 or 3 line brawls between the two teams that even included the goalies fighting. Darren McCarty got his revenge on Lemieux in the first brawl since the Draper incident and blindsided him after a whistle in the game. That game had 18 major fighting penalties that totaled up to 144 penalty minutes combined for both teams. If the NHL didn t have fighting who knows what else he would have done in games to opposing players but by having fighting in the game he knew that he would have pay for his actions so he did not play how he usually did against the Red Wings. Lemieux only received a 2 game suspension and $1000 dollar fine for the hit so having someone knock him around a little bit was a more suitable punishment. If fighting wasn t allowed he never would have faced any consequences for that hit because in todays game he would have been suspended for maybe 20 games or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Importance Of Dominance In Shakespeare s Sonnet 94 In Sonnet 94, Shakespeare shows a separation between those who have, but do not flaunt and those who have and use to satisfy others. Society s preferred standards where flawed during the 17th century. They played a part in how people were criticized. Shakespeare has a strong approval for those who convey themselves in a humble manner, but deeply opposed the individuals who do not; all in all, those who are differentiated should not be bad mouthed because of their actions, but helped to become better. Shakespeare starts Sonnet 94 with situations that present modesty between the ones who show characteristics that others may not, but these individuals do not flaunt or boast about what they have. Shakespeare has a deep approval them, but maybe they are unaware of what they have or it could be that they are subconscious about themselves, which can cause them to act shelled. First, Shakespeare introduced a person with a high authority than an ordinary individual. Dominance does not initiate enforced obedience on account of possessing the higher position. Some people subconsciously utilize their authority for their own personal benefit, but for those who do not, as Shakespeare stated in Sonnet 94 (line 5), rightly do inherit heaven s grace . Next, an individual who restrained from intimate activities was introduced. In a biblical sense, the restraint from intimate activity before marriage is the righteous decision to make; although, if someone decided not to comply, no sin is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

ABSTRACT The car industry has constantly provided us the consumer with a wide range of choices and varieties to suit our needs, but with the vast amount of competition how do car manufacturers attract our attention. Unique designs, impressive technology, price and customer service are all the areas consumers look for in a car, to meet these demands car manufactures need to constantly come up with new ideas to stay ahead of other competitors, introducing creative ideas which are better than what was in use previously is innovation. • 6. Exploring Social Patterns in the Renaissance Through Fashion Exploring Social Patterns in the Renaissance Through Fashion Fashion reflects the attitudes of a society more than any other art form. Like art, fashion is a material record of the ideals that swayed the nations at the time of their creation. Through examining the styles, and tastes of a particular era, we can realize where the interests and priorities of a time lie. As Frank Parsons wrote in his 1920 study, The Psychology of Dress, There is surly no better field in which to trace the devious paths of human thought than in that of clothes, where man has ever given free play to self expression, in a way which, thought not always a credit to his intelligence, is yet quite true to his innermost self, whether he will acknowledge it or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clothing expression in medieval Europe, like all other forms of artistic expression at this time, found it s biggest outlet in the ecclesiastical field, as this was where all the money was to be found. The churches employed all the best builders and craftsmen in creating their great cathedrals, and art works. In clothing, the church dictated what sorts of materials were made, and brought into the area, what colors were in use, and what styles were used, influencing the secular as well as ecclesiastical dress. In the feudal system only great Barons and their families wore fine cloths, as clothing was a symbol of rank and importance. Each family made their own clothes, so fashion was very individualistic in style, and each family had their own characteristics. With an increase of wealth in the area, and the beginning of the crusades, new elaborate styles were introduced into the scene. Fashions became strange, and grotesque in nature reflecting the constant struggles and wars of the time, as fantasy and the grotesque generally influence social costumes accompanying times of war. Women in their headgear actually wore huge horns, like an ox, that towered above them and supported a veil, and men s shoes were peaked and extended six inches in front of them for common men, and a foot for gentlemen, and two feet for noblemen. The church frowned on the extreme finery, painted faces, and low cut dresses of the women. But as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The smaller midsize Colorado offers all of the benefits of a truck without taking up the space of a full sized truck. In 2004, General Motors introduced the Colorado as a replacement for their popular S10 trucks, and the Colorado has proven to be just as popular. The 2016 diesel model is the proud recipient of the 2016 Motor Trend Truck of the Year award. The diesel is a new model option for 2016. The Colorado offers power, performance and fuel efficiency. Its 2.8L turbo diesel engine sports 181 hp and gives the truck the best in class towing capacity of 7,700 lbs, which makes it a good choice for work or play. It is perfectly equipped to tow a boat or an equipment trailer. This model also delivers the best in class fuel economy of 31 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg on the city streets. According to the authors of Germany s complaint. The various provisions of the treaty hurt Germany s economy by forcing Germany to accept full responsibility for the damages caused not only by the Germans but also by everyone associated with them and the damage that was caused. As stated in the article, Comments of the German Delegation to the Paris Peace Conference, 1919 President Wilson recognized in his speech of 1916 no single fact caused the war, but that in the last analysis the whole European system is in a deeper sense responsible for the war, with its combination of alliances and understandings, a complicated texture of intrigues ... They felt that by being deprived of that right, the feelings and wishes of all the people were being taken away and not being considered. They were forced to abide by other nations wishes without any input as to what they wished for themselves. 4. Personally I do agree that Germany was being mistreated. In my opinion, they were being unfairly treated because what applied to one nation did not apply to them. They were pretty much treated like they were the sole reason why the war started and they were being punished for the actions and choices of many nations. It was as if in order to live in peace they had to give up the very land and rights everyone was fighting for, especially the basic rights of the nations of self determination. It is unreasonable and not right to force Germany to give up all power of their land, by having another nation determine everything for them, for Germany to have to rebuild their country and not benefit from it, rather the only benefit to rebuilding would be to other nations. I think defenders of the treaty would respond to Germany s complaints by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Sword and the Stone, the first book of The Once and Future King, details what King Arthur learned as a child when he was not known to be the next King of England under the influence of his pacifistic tutor Merlyn. He learns that being fair and just is better than power and tyranny. In the next book, The Queen of Air and Darkness, King Arthur is guided by Merlyn and applies what he learned as a child to his reign as King to create the Round Table , where all knights are equal and will use their Might for Right , using their power for good, not tyranny. In the third book, The Ill Made Knight, King Arthur tries to keep his Round Table from splitting, all the while his wife, Guenever, and his best knight and friend, Lancelot, are rumoured to be having an affair. In The Candle in the Wind, the last book, King Arthur creates laws and uses trials, juries, and evidence to instil justice as his last attempt to create a perfect society. Throughout his life, King Arthur is seen as benevolent, brave, chivalrous, open minded, progressive, determined, optimistic, and faithful. • 12. Analysis Of John Milton s The Of Mere Christianity Often in life we are faced with choices. They could be as simple as what you should wear that day or as important as what degree you should pursue. It is the more important choices in our lives however, that will define who we are and effect our future. C.S Lewis stated in his book, Mere Christianity, that Every time you make a choice you are turning the central part of you, the part that chooses, into something different than it was before. And taking your life as a whole, with all your innumerable choices, all your life long you are slowly turning this central thing into a heavenly creature or a hellish creature. There are two books, Pilgrims Progress and Paradise Lost, that are perfect examples of this quote. Pilgrims Progress, by John Bunyan, is about the difficulties that a Christian faces throughout his journey towards the Celestial City. Paradise Lost, by John Milton, is, on the other hand, a story about Satan s fall from heaven and His deception of Adam and Eve. These two great works of literature give clear examples of how choices effect the outcome of one s life. In John Bunyan s Pilgrims Progress there are several characters whose choices greatly implement their situation. The main character, whose name is Christian, has striking illustrations of this. Christian is depicted in the book as a man who has a great burden to be saved, which leads him to journey to the Celestial City to be with Christ. The first decision he makes, the choice ... Students with special needs have always been separated from a regular classroom. By including special needs children, this will help the student not only thrive in academics but also in life by gaining social and technical skills. Students will feel like they are part of a regular classroom and are not excluded because of their disability. By students having a regular learning environment they can start to master particular content and skills. Parents are scared because they have many questions that they don t feel like are being answered. For example, are there children going to be getting the attention needed in a general education classroom? and are there effective methods for students with disabilities to accommodate to in an inclusive setting? . These students will not receive the support needed but with inclusion they will have the services needed in a regular classroom. Government Interaction after Hurricane Katrina According to the Business Dictionary, government involvement is considered any regulatory action taken by a government in order to affect or interfere with decisions. Many accuse the United States national government of minimal and slow actions taken after the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina. Others share the blame of this response between local, state, and national governments. This research paper will focus on the government s interaction after the strike of a furious Hurricane Katrina. Katrina hit New Orleans, Louisiana on August 29th, 2005, but the failure of the government started before this day by allowing building and growing in areas in low flood lands. The government did not regulate these land areas that have always been at a threat for flooding and natural disaster, which was ignored by the government and public, and was in place, still a place for growing infrastructure. Failures included by the author of the national agencies include design limits that can lead to levees being overtopped by flood and hurricane events that are larger than they were designed for and design flaws and construction and maintenance shortcomings that lead to protective works being breached when they cannot stand up to the forces exerted by large flood and hurricane events. There is no question that there are helpful and harmful attributes to elevation. The argument is whether these effects are enough to cause an unfair advantage and are they dangerous enough to warrant a rule to be made about it. There are many things that come into question when addressing the affects elevation has on athletes such as: the effects of air resistance, air density, low oxygen levels, and a weaker gravitational pull (Ward Smith). When people think of elevation most people think of in the mountains or thousands of feet in the air. That is not the case. All of these handicaps and issues can affect athletic events that are held in heights as low as one thousand five hundred feet. At this altitude there is approximately 16% less oxygen in the air (Altitude). At first glance this does not seem like a big difference but when a highly trained athlete is competing this can be the difference between a loss or a win. Another measurement of oxygen intake at elevation is the study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology in 1996, trained and untrained cyclists were asked to undergo a Vo2max test, Vo2max is the rate of oxygen consumed during the exercise test, at while at sea level and again at five hundred and eighty meters. Hemingway graduated high school in 1917 but instead of going to college like his parents wanted him to, he took a job as a reporter for the Kansas City Star. His uncle was responsible for him getting the job, because he knew the top editor. While Hemingway worked for the Kansas City Star he learned about how to write, and it showed in his later works of fiction. The newspaper advocated short sentences, short paragraphs, active verbs, authenticity, compression, clarity and immediacy. Hemingway later said: Those were the best rules I ever learned for the business of writing. I ve never forgotten them (Young 36). The same time Ernest was graduating, World War I had started in Europe. Even though President Wilson tried to keep the US out of the war, they helped other countries in the fight against Germany and Austria. When Hemingway turned eighteen he tried to enlist in the army, but they turned him away because of poor vision. He had a bad eye like his mother. Trapped in the Body of Society Born in the beautiful, wet and green country of England in 1818, Emily Jane Brontë would grow up and write one of the literary world s most acclaimed work of literature. Before she wrote Wuthering Heights in 1847, Emily Brontë came from a very creative household as both of her sisters, Charlotte and Anne Brontë, were also writers with whom Emily would enjoy spending time with writing prose and poetry. Because the Brontë sisters lived a strongly patriarchal society where the ideal Victorian woman only dealt with domestic matters and left everything else to men, they wrote their novels and poems under the male pseudonyms of Currer, Ellis, and Acton Bell. In My Brother the Unabomber by Ed Pilkington and Montana 1948 by Larry Watson, the authors have a similar viewpoint on the importance of justice in a society. They show these similarities through the motivations of David and the members of the Hayden family. David Kaczynski and Wes have parallel viewpoints on adherence to the principled administration of the law. David has lived the typical life of most civilians until he learns that his brother Ted is the infamous Unabomber. This awareness provokes forceful emotions to course through Wes s mind as he expresses frustration with a violent fist. At first, Wes criticizes himself for thinking he could offer mercy to a convict. It becomes apparent to him that lawbreakers invariably deserve some form of punishment for their wrongdoings. He shakes his head at the bias of the the corrupt jury which would cut [Frank] loose simply because of his infallible reputation. This short story lets readers into the happy and sad times in the life of Marina Keegan, with the many personal elements and stories that she includes. In Stability in Motion , Marina Keegan shows her audience that her car is not only her transportation, but her place of happiness and her best friend. Marina Keegan s title Stability in Motion is important to the purpose of the story. Stability in Motion describes her car. Her car is her stability , her rock , the thing that keeps her sane. Her car is also the motion because she finds her sanity inside of her car while she is driving, or when she is in motion . In paragraph 12 she says, I talked a lot in my car. Thousands of words and songs and swears are absorbed in its fabric, her car is her safe place that she can turn to whenever she needs time by herself. The purpose of Stability in Motion is to show how a relationship with an inanimate object, such as a car, can help a person through each day. The context of Stability in Motion is very genuine. Marina Keegan writes as if this story is meant to be kept in private and not for other eyes to see. It is very personal, as she includes many details about herself. Her reflections show vulnerability, giving readers an honest view of Marina that is unexpected from a writer. She shows in stories how much her friends and family members mean to her. In paragraph 11 she says, There was a folder left behind from the day I drove my dad to an interview the month after he lost his job. It was coincidental that his car was in the shop, but I knew he felt more pathetic that it was he, not his daughter, in the passenger seat. I kept my eyes on the road, feeling the confused sadness of a child who catches a parent crying. This is a sad time in her family s life that she chooses to share with her readers to show how much she cares and is willing to help her father, even if all she can do to help is to drive him to an interview. Food waste is food material that is unable to be eaten or sold which is discarded as trash. Food should be too precious to Americans to waste. It nourishes people s bodies and brings families together, and they treat food as if it has little to no worth. Because they are making such nominal hourly wages these services are essential for the well being of the American public. (Suppes Wells, p. 79.) By definition, culture is a universal phenomenon as it refers to family values, education, work, religion, success, food, and social class. (NASW, p. 14.) In this paper, I will compare and contrast my own cultural background with that of one of my best friends, Dawn Denny who happens to be a Guyanese. Most Haitians place a great emphasis on family values regardless of their social status. While both parents play a vital role in the family, the male is the dominant one, the head of the house, despite the fact that the mother works, rears, cares for the children and maintains the house. It s tremendously hard to get a job in Haiti as the labor industry is extremely bias, you not only need to know someone from the inside, but it is also based on age and color of your skin. • 39. The Relationship Between Government Revenue From Taxes And... The Laffer curve is a concept which explains the relationship between government revenue from taxes and tax rates. The concept of the Laffer curve is that the higher the tax rate is the lower the output, that is to say for example, if the government imposed a higher tax rate, production would be lower and government revenue would therefore be lower. The Laffer curve was developed by an economist by the name of Arthur Laffer, a professor at the University of Chicago. Arthur Laffer does not take all credit for this theory, he claimed it was not new and that the concept was pretty straightforward and people already knew about it many years ago. The origin of the Laffer curve goes back to an article written by Jude Wanniski, associate editor of the Wall street journal at that time. Sometime in December of 1974, Wanniski had dinner with Laffer, Donald Rumsfeld who was the chief of staff to president Gerald Ford, and Rumsfeld s deputy Dick Cheney, who was a former classmate of Laffer at Yale. All four were having dinner at a restaurant in Washington D.C. while they were talking about President Ford s Whip Inflation Now proposal for tax increments then suddenly Laffer grabbed a napkin and a pen then proceeded to sketch a curve on the napkin about the relationship between tax rates and tax revenues. Jude Wanniski decided to name this relationship The Laffer Curve . And that is how The Laffer curve began. Vast majority of companies want to maximize their profit, so it ... • 40. Rhetorical Analysis Of David Leonhardt s Deporting... A Rhetorical Analysis of David Leonhardt s Deporting Dreamers 2017 The job of a writer is never done. New information is always being thrown at writers such as David Leonhardt, begging to be judged and characterized, not as good nor bad, but worthy of reading. Immigration is ingrained in our society as Americans, that s how America was born. In this article, David Leonhardt assesses the ins and outs of illegal immigration, while simultaneously stating his opinion on the matter. In this article, Leonhardt argues about the severity and use of prosecutorial discretion on laws of immigration and how it affects the American people. The author s credibility is established before, throughout, and at the end of the article by giving sources from media news, such as CNN and other publications from the New York Times. The problem with CNN being a media news source is that information isn t always proven true and is often opinionated. On , Karen Douglas, Business Insider, 2017 , from a poll taken of 3000 random participants, CNN was considered more or less distrustworthy. This poll supports the statistical evidence that declares CNN s information 47% untrue or false on (CNN File PunditFact 2017) . If David uses CNN for statistical reports to support his left sided point of view, how can we know if what he says is even true? We can t. However, the author uses emotional reasoning and empathy to sway the reader into understanding and accepting his point of view, even if the view is not 100% true. In the first paragraph, the author presents the reader with multiple quotes from the Former White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer. Spicer argues about the subject of prosecutorial discretion against Dreamer and uses Felony Tax Evasion to explain the absurdity of selectively choosing when to uphold laws. The author does include a solution from Sean Spicer s quote, saying They should petition our lawmakers and the government will change it (Spicer Paragraph three). This quote doesn t support the author s point of view and leaves the reader confused. The author then proceeds to imply that the President is, Taking to the Extreme when it comes to upholding the law. The author switches tones in the next paragraph to more of ... • 41. Malcolm Gladwell s Influence On Black Youth Ready To Outlie Either you re slinging crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot . A strong and profound message that resonated in the minds of black youth during the end of the 20th century. It meant that, as a black youth, you had to either be a successful drug hustler or an amazing athlete to live comfortable financially. Young Christopher Wallace, a boy growing up in Brooklyn, New York during the rise of crack, was set on becoming rich and this was his formula for doing so. He was far too overweight for sports and besides, hustling crack gave a much quicker payout (Coker). So if selling drugs was, in his opinion, the only means of hitting it rich, why is the above quote not being cited as coming from Christopher Wallace: Drug ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though Gladwell is correct in telling us that opportunity is a key component to success, his emphasis on the importance of opportunity and less on a person s own individuality and character traits, is absurd. A person s traits are important because they are characteristics upon which talent is dependent, and talent is no less an important factor to success than opportunity is. If a talent without opportunity leads to little to no achievement, then what kind of outcome does one get from opportunities without talent? The opportunities that Wallace received as Biggie Smalls were simple, and ones that Gladwell would most certainly agree with. Like hundreds of other black youths, Biggie grew up in the 1980s, during the golden age of hip hop. Hip hop, to young blacks and the recently paroled, was a means of leaving the streets and a life of poverty ( Remembering the Golden Age of Hip hop. ). He took to rapping on street corners, which was also a popular thing to do at the time ( Notorious B.I.G. Bigger Than Life ). The biggest opportunity of his life was probably Sean Puffy Combs insistence that he be signed to a record deal. But why Biggie Smalls and not the countless other young rappers, such as Chico Del Vec and Lonnie Common Lyn, who also rapped on the street corners of New York, given the same opportunity? Furthermore, how did he become so successful despite being an overweight, dark black kid with a lazy eye during a time when hip hop was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Consumer Perception Of Consumer Behavior Essay Consumer Perception Consumer behaviours are constructed by their attitudes, and the attitude itself is the result of the consumers perception (Fishbein Ajzen, 1975). This construct is explored in the Theory of Reasoned Action, where Fishbein and Ajzen (1975) state this in regards to attitude behaviour relationships. When it comes to greenwashing, research has found that this attitude behaviour relationship could manipulate the perception of the consumer. The consumer perceptions when it comes to companies can be explained by: perceived deception, which is caused by an organization which misleadingly advertises its product as being green (Newell et al., 1998); perceived scepticism, from consumers regarding an environmental claim which could then decrease any possible positive impact on consumer behaviour (Albayrak et al., 2011), and; perceived inconsistency, which is caused by a company s inconsistency in relation to advertising claims about being green versus their actual behaviour (Gallicano, 2011). Consumer perceptions towards products can be explained using the concepts of: perceived distrust, which is an unwillingness to have confidence in a product, this can stem from an expectation resulting from a lack of credibility and/or environmental performance (Chen Chang, 2013); perceived risk, which is connected to possible consequences of a wrong decision (Peter Ryan, 1976), and; perceived confusion, which arises as a result of consumers failing to acquire accurate ... On November 4, 1952, Eisenhower was elected president against his political opponent, Adlai Stevenson, by a landslide. Eisenhower served as president for eight years from January 20, 1953 to January 20, 1961, winning the presidential election in 1956. In 1956, his opponent was, once again, Adlai Stevenson. Eisenhower s success in ending the Korean War and helping the nation as a whole helped him win the election even with his health conditions. Also, after the Cold War, Joseph McCarthy convinced many people to believe that the government was being overtaken by communism. Also, Eisenhower had to deal with some recessions during this time.
