Louis Riel Summary
The second part of the comic strip biography Louis Riel by Chester Brown, starts off in early
September 1870 in St. Joseph, Dakota territory. Louis Riel is reading a note which talks about how the
Canadian soldiers have wreaked havoc on the Red River Colony. It talks about how some Métis men
had been murdered and quite a few were beaten. Women had also been raped in the settlement too.
The Canadian soldiers have brought a reign of fear to the Red River settlement. This is an excerpt
from the note Louis Riel was reading. Also, Schultz returned and was basically running things. The
comic strip biography then fasts forwards to the summer of 1871. Louis Riel is reading another note
now. This one is talking about how the land the people of the settlement had been promised by the
Canadian government was being given to people from Eastern Canada. The exceptional rich farmland
was being given to the British farmers and the requests for land were being delayed. After this Riel
goes to his mother s house in the settlement and finds that many of the soldiers have went home. His
mother though, warns him to lay low. The story then shifts and fast forwards to Ottawa in the
December of 1871, about five to seven months later. Father Ritchot has arranged a meeting with John
Alexander Macdonald to discuss amnesty for Louis Riel s crimes. Father Ritchot immediately
confronts John Alexander Macdonald, demanding to know why the amnesty was not granted. John
Alexander Macdonald responds by

Designing A Mathematical Model For Interpersonal...
Personally speaking, I think the definition of hobbies is that someone prefers do so than go to sleep at
night. In that case, I listed my hobbies as below.
One of them is doing math problems. It is a pleasure for me to solve those intriguing problems. Every
time I solve a problem that was challenging to me, I feel very happy for the self achievement. Even if
it occurs at a deep night, I will get refreshed by the ecstasy. I was only four when I first tasted the
sweetness of math. At the high school, this interest has extended to the enjoyment of modeling,
because constructing a model is arduous too, whereas a good result brings really a lot of happiness at
the end. Much related to modeling, my research problem in 2015 is to construct a ... Show more

With programming skills, I finished a number of projects, whose success facilitated me to continue on
my work. For instance, I celebrated my ten year old birthday party by successfully constructing a
program that could either produce or solve sudoku puzzles. On that day, the program gave me a
puzzle, and solved the puzzle itself. I considered this gift as more memorable than any other one. In
my high school, I made a software that helps us reciting English vocabularies by a technique similar to
flashcards. The advantage in efficiency makes it better than the latter. The software, for example,
supports data importing while flashcards do not. In addition to the improvement of manual efficiency,
the software expressed a strong enhancement of the users speed of reciting words, aka., the
effectiveness. It was based on the forgetting curve proposed by Hermann Ebbinghaus, which
quantifies the interval between each repetition of memorizing process. I made a little adjustment to the
values, and set them as the time intervals between the repetitive appearances of a word. In this sense,
the word repeats again and again, and deepens the memorization every time. The memorization
becomes very deep using this strategy. I made a comparison between the efficiency of reciting
vocabularies using the traditional methodology and using this program. The result was that both in one
hour, the traditional way could only make me fully recall approximately 120 words, whereas the
program

Mrs Mallard Abandonment
Mrs. Mallard was effected with a heart trouble that brought and emotion connection between her
husband s death and her. Her husband died of a tragic railroad accident. I believe her heart trouble was
a broken heart because of the loss of her significant other. Her husband friend stood by her side as she
grieved over her husband s death. Mrs. Mallard felling of abandonment made me feel apologetic for
her and also a connection due to the relation of feeing a sense of sorrow. Instead of her expressing her
feeling; she choose to go to her room. Many people grieve in different ways to cope with the pain and
hurt of losing someone. Mrs. Mallard choose to isolate herself from other which is a way someone

Decarbonize Urban Areas
If we are going to decarbonise our cities and regions, we need to promote high density urban
development. Increasing density reduces the size of houses and overall its consumption of resources
(Rauland and Newman 2011). The authors further contend, therefore that increasing density has
numerous other benefits, including enabling better public transport infrastructure such as light rail and
trains as well as increasing the walkability of cities, all of which will significantly reduce transport
emissions ( Rauland and Newman p. 6. 2011). Adding density to transform cities can also improve
quality of life by offering more local amenities and better lifestyles ( Rauland and Newman 2011). The
Cockburn Town Centre development is perfect example.

How The Civil War Became A War To Free The Slaves
When President Lincoln first called for troops to put down the confederate rebellion, he made no
connection between this action and an attempt to end slavery. In fact, he explicitly stated the utmost
care will be observed to avoid any devastation, any destruction of, or interference with, property... At
this point, slavery was not yet integral to the struggle, it was much more important for the Union to air
on the side of political prudence and avoid angering loyal boarder states. However, despite this lack of
political dialogue, many abolitionists, slaves, and free blacks felt the war to preserve the union could
also be a war to end slavery. In the end, they were right, as military need overwhelmed potential
political dangers, slaves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite these misgivings, the Union policy of returning slaves who had not been employed by the
Confederacy continued as the army moved through the boarder states. When they began to move
deeper south, however, this policy became much more difficult to enforce. General Ambrose E.
Burnside found this to be true after invading coastal North Carolina and finding virtually no loyal
slaveholders but many slaves who seemed to be wild with excitement and delight. This, combined
with ever increasing recognition of fugitive slave labors importance to the Union war effort, led
Congress to declare in March 1892 that Union soldiers were forbidden to return fugitive slaves to their
owners. Even with this change in policy, the federal government continued to overrule emancipation
efforts as they attempted to retain the loyalty of slaveholding boarder states. When General David
Hunter proclaimed freedom for all slaves in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, he was quickly
overruled by President Lincoln. However, while Lincoln clearly stuck down General Hunter s
proclamation, he also offered aid to the boarder states so they may adopt a gradual abolishment of
slavery. Despite this set back, Hunter continued to work for the emancipation of slaves, and went so
far as to enlist ex slaves as soldiers without any authorization to do so. Although his actions may have

Thoughtful Reasoning For The Ultimate Punishment

Thoughtful Reasoning for the Ultimate Punishment
Only the most dangerous criminals in the world are faced with society s ultimate penalty, or at least
that is the theory. Capital punishment, commonly referred to as the Death Penalty has been debated for
many decades regarding if such a method is ethical. While there are large amounts of supporters for
the death penalty as a form of retribution, the process is avoidable financially as taxing for all parties
involved. The financial expenses may be better off saved for life imprisonment with an emphasis in
restorative justice for victims. Overall, there is unreasonable inefficiency with the capital punishment
to justify the taking of another person s life.
The death penalty process is often overlooked in the justice system and exhausts millions of dollars on
trials and repeals. Unlike countries with speedy execution processes, the U.S. judicial system is known
for having lengthy trials and judgement dates because of mandatory appeals. Richard C. Dieter,
Executive Director of the Death Penalty Information Center, briefly describes the fundamentals of a
death penalty case, Every stage of a capital case is more time consuming and expensive than in a
typical criminal case. If the defendant is found guilty of a capital crime, an entire separate trial is
required, with new witnesses and new evidence, in which the jury must decide whether the penalty
should be

What Was Painted In 1937 By Pablo Guerrinca
Pablo Picasso Guerrinca s painting was painted in 1937 in a reaction to the Spanish Civil War
bombing of the small Basque village in Spain. During the years of the Spanish Civil War, Hitler and
Mussolini aided Spanish General Francisco Franco with artillery, airplanes, and tanks. Often soldiers
would test firearm weapons on people of small towns in Spain. On April 27, 1937, the small Basque
village has been bombed by German soldiers due to its population which was considered intimidating.
The outcome of the bomb lasted for more than two hours with outbursting flames, thousands of people
perishing, and others becoming wounded; meanwhile, more soldiers began to fire guns on the ground.

Bhopal, Bhopal And Its Effects
Thirty years ago in Bhopal, India, an accident at the Union Carbide pesticide plant led to around thirty
tons of highly toxic gases to fill the air and spread through the nearby towns. When the accident
occurred, over 600,000 people were exposed to the very deadly gas. Over the past years, 15,000
people have been killed by the disaster and it s effects. (Union Carbide Corporation, 2001 2014) Toxic
material still remains in Bhopal to this day. (Taylor, 2014) This accident occurred in 1984 at the Union
Carbide plant, which had been established in Bhopal in 1969. Reports began months before the
disaster of the possibility of a huge accident. Staff had been being laid off for weeks prior and that had
led to less and less safety checks. (Taylor, 2014) The gas that leaked is named Methyl Isocyanine.
Methyl Isocyanine is used as a popular pesticide. When in it s liquid form, the chemical is odorless
and very flammable. In a gas though, it is highly toxic and irritating. The organic compound can also
be found in small amounts in certain cigarettes. Union Carbide was using Methyl Isocyanate as an
intermediate. Methylamine was made to react with phosgene to produce the Methyl Isocyanate, which
then reacts with 1 naphthol to form carbonyl, which is the final product. The accident was triggered
when water entered Tank E610, which contained more than 40 tons of methyl isocyanate, initiating a
runaway reaction. (Ganesh, 2015) An employee was flushing a corroded pipe and many stopcocks

The Jungle by Upton Sinclair Essay
The Jungle, written by Upton Sinclair was a very touching and motivating story. Sinclair aimed for
our hearts, but instead, he hit our stomachs. The Jungle is a story of hardships and trouble, some
successes and many failures as a family tries to achieve the American Dream. In this book, The Jurgis
Ruckus myth of failure is the other side of the Horatio Alger s myth of success. (xxvi) Although this
book was written about the hardships of a family, it was not just a story for one to read and feel
sympathy for the family, but it had many real life reasons behind the events that went on and
happened. Sinclair wanted to open the eyes of people and make them aware of what was going on, and
ultimately, wanted to start a revolution to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Jurgis looking for a job) He stood in the doorway, looking mournfully on, seeing his friends and
companions at work, and feeling like and outcast. Then he went out and took his place with the mob
of the unemployed But there was no work for him He wandered all day through the buildings; in a
week or two, when he had been all over the yards, and into every room to which he has access, and
learned that there was not a job anywhere there was nothing more for him to do but go with the
crowd in the morning and keep in the front row and look eager. (p. 148 149)
This insert above is a prime example of the hardships of finding jobs during this time. So many people
were looking for jobs and the demand for them was a lot higher than the supply of them. Once people
found jobs, the working conditions were terrible. A new idea came about called speeding up where
once the workers reached a pace, then, they would speed them up more and working at outrageous
speeds. If one could not keep up with the speed and the job, they would get the boot and be replaced
by someone else looking for a job.
It was the first time in his life he had ever really worked and that he had ever had anything to do
which took all he had in him (He) stood with the rest up in the gallery and watched the men on the
killing beds, marveling at their speed and power and never occurred to one to think of the flesh and

Psychology Of Fear
Many individuals would agree that at least one thing terrifies them. In fact, there is a whole television
series based on what strange phobias people have. These fears or phobias can range from anything
consisting of being terrified of the dark, to being petrified to simply stand next to a person. People
often wonder what causes a fear. One unique theory as to why these fears develop, is that they are the
effect of a traumatic event that took place in the person s life. In addition, another philosophy is that
fear is the body s natural defense to danger. Whatever the cause may be, fear has the gift to maintain a
person s safety or the capability to render a person s life miserable. However, my apprehensions of

compare to being surrounded by cold water on a hot summer day except, maybe the smell that filled

swimming pool and as a result, I could never get enough. However, in a direct moment all these

R1 Ariane Research Paper

Later in the analysis of the data about the accident, is was found that the same system used in the

, which happened when a 64 bit floating point couldn t be converted to 16 bit signed integer, the value
was too large to be converted, and caused the software exception, and the code wasn t ready to handle
this type of error (exception handling). The software used in the Ariane 4 was clearly not suitable for

system stop working (OperandError), and resulted in the chain of occurrences, causing malfunction

Persuasive Articles on Gun Control Essays
Persuasive Articles on Gun Control
Persuading an audience can be done in several different fashions, one of which is Hugh Rank s Model
of Persuasion. Rank s model states that two major strategies are used to achieve the particular goal of
persuasion. These strategies are nicely set into two main schemas; the first method is to exaggerate an
aspect of something, known as intensify. While the second is to discredit it, which is referred to as
downplay. Al Franken, Jeffrey Snyder, Harlan Ellison, and George Will, have all written persuasive
articles about gun control. In reading all of the various articles on gun control by authors, I found
George F. Will s The Last Word to be the most persuasive. Will wrote his ... Show more content on

Franken was also able to downplay the usefulness of a firearm by including a series of sarcastic tips
for tragedy in a home. For example, 1. Keep the gun loaded... 2. Put the gun in an unlocked drawer...
3. Rest assured. 1 Where Franken s article comes up short is the use of hypothetical numbers to
exaggerate and intensify the deadliness of guns. His sarcasm adds diversity to his piece, but should be
used sparingly. Franken s conclusion causes his argument to lose its effectiveness, after building his
case it just seems ridiculous and out of place.
The least persuasive essay out of the four was Harlan Ellison s An Edge in My Voice. Ellison presents
his argument in a style that seems to me is more of a disgruntled rambling about both famous and
infamous people that die from gun shot, than an article about gun control. Ellison spends the first few
pages asking the reader if they cried when a certain person died; he begins with famous people such as
Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy, and John Lennon, and then moves on to more obscure
examples. Instead of trying to build an argument, Ellison seemed to be more caught up with anger and
the notion of conspiracies. He does however try to use the intensify technique of Rank s model, to
persuade the reader of the horror of deaths caused by guns and their importance. Although Ellison did
try to persuade his audience in a different manor, I felt it was ineffective at best,

between a buyer and non buyer is explained by the four factors taken by us. Table 5. Functions at

given in the above table. The above scores can be used to make a decision rule to classify a customer
into the user or non user category based on the responses given by them in the questionnaire. The cut
off score for classifying a buyer and non buyer is given by the formula C = (n2Y1+n1Y2)/ (n1+n2)
From the data obtained from the survey, we have identified 50 non users and 39 users. Thus
substituting n1= 52 and n2=39, Y1= 1.029 and Y2= 1.373, we get C to be 0.34357. Now any

Comparison of Whitman and Dickenson Poems
America experienced profound changes during the mid 1800 s. New technologies and ideas helped the
nation grow, while the Civil War ripped the nation apart. During this tumultuous period, two great
American writers captured their ideas in poetry. Their poems give us insight into the time period, as
well as universal insight about life. Although polar opposites in personality, Emily Dickinson and Walt
Whitman created similar poetry. Dickinson s Hope is a Thing with Feathers and Whitman s O

Captain! My Captain! Each poem contains an extended metaphor. In Dickinson s poem, a bird clearly
symbolizes hope. The first stanza introduces the bird metaphor: ‘Hope is the thing with feathers /That
perches in the soul. The next lines ‘And sings the tune without the words /And never stops—at all—
illustrate the interminable nature of the bird and hope. The second stanza expands the metaphor by
saying ‘And sweetest—in the Gale—is heard—. The bird s song, or hope, is the sweetest during a

the strangest Sea describe the bird, or hope, as being everywhere. The last lines ‘Yet, never, in
Extremity,/It asked a crumb—of Me show the unselfish nature of the bird; hope never asks for
anything in return. O Captain! My Captain! contains a more complicated and cryptic extended
metaphor. Basically, Abraham Lincoln captains the metaphorical ship of the United States through the
Civil War. The second line ‘The ship has weather d every rack, the prize we sought is won means the
United States survived the tribulation of the Civil War, and the citizens won the prize they sought,
unity. Abraham Lincoln

Descriptive Essay On Present Day
Present day
While walking through the lush green grass of the retirement home, many thoughts began to swirl in
my mind. I started thinking of the years that have flowed by me like a bullet slicing through the wind.
All the years of fun, enjoyment, sadness and grief. All the moments of desire and hope I can still feel
until this day. My experiences in life through the years have helped me to view the world today; in a
new perspective. Some part of me wishes right now that I was raised up in this era, for the people are
much more open minded and open to the unknown.

One afternoon a boy came running up the parchment with his black hair swaying with each step

it. He collapsed onto the floor while the ball he was carrying bounced along the floor. My eyes
followed it until it hit my feet. I raised my gaze from the football that lay at my toes, to suddenly meet
a set of sky blue eyes. I couldn t help but let out a smile, and neither could he.
Hi, he said in a high tone, his voice cracking mid way through.
Hi, I said rapidly darting my eyes back down.
Who are you?, I asked bluntly.
He got up slowly, flinching at the pain in his shoulder; massaging it in order to make them feel better I
guess.

Why Was The Visit From Commodore Perry A Turning Point In...
1. Why was the visit from Commodore Perry a turning point in Japanese history? Before 1853, Japan
remained in isolation from the other Western powers, but the arrival of Commodore Matthew C. Perry
influenced Japan to expand their trade. With the American fleet of warships led by Perry, it
intimidated Japan to open their foreign interests in hope of arising trading opportunities from both
sides. In a way, the U.S. military superiority spurred the Japanese to agree to the Treaty of Kanagawa.
This treaty allowed the return of American sailors, allowed U.S. residence, and opened two ports in
Japan. This indicated that Perry s visit marked a turning point in Japan s history; in addition, Japan
continued to negotiate treaties with U.S. and other countries for opening their ports for trade and
residence. 2. How was Japan s experience after 1854 similar to China? Japan s experiences after 1854
were very similar to those of China s. For instance, China and Japan served as important foreign
interests to the Western powers. The reason why the Western powers were so interested in those two
countries was due to the increasing rivalry and economic interests. As a result of foreign interaction by
force or intimidation, Japan and China faced challenges such as adapting to an industrial and

Multiculturalism and the Canadian identity Essay
Multiculturalism and the Canadian identity.
Introduction
What is Canada? What is a Canadian? Canada, to employ Voltaire s analogy, is nothing but a few
acres of snow. . Of course, the philosopher spoke of New France, when he made that analogy. More
recently, a former Prime Minister, Joe Clark, said that the country was nothing but a community of
communities . Both these images have helped us, in one way or another, try to interpret what could
define this country. On the other hand, a Canadian could be a beer, a hockey playing beaver or even a
canoe floating in a summer day s sunset. A Canadian could also be a sovereigntyphobe , refusing to
see the liquefaction, albeit political, of the second largest country in the world. ... Show more content

While the rest of Canada employs the concept of multiculturalism, Quebec emphasizes on another
theory: interculturalism, or the notion of support in cross cultural dialogue and challenging self
segregation tendencies within cultures. In the province, the word multiculturalism announces
pejorative meanings. This was due, in part, to the fact that a federal commission which was charged
several years ago with the task of developing policies for Canada, based on its bicultural and bilingual
character emerged with a recommendation that Canada think of itself as a multicultural and bilingual
country.3 . Francophones, on the other hand, felt that this concept placed them at the same level as
minority ethnic groups, thus erasing their thoughts of being seen as one of the country s founding
nations.
Religious symbolism and governmental position
In 1985, a request, made by Baltej Singh Dhillon, who asked to allow the addition of a religious
symbol to the RCMP s emblematic red uniform, changed the way the force was perceived, in the
country. This gesture begged one question: Would a religious symbol be accepted, in any given
governmental environment, where religious attire is often seen a source of tension? For many, the
RCMP was seen as the pinnacle of Canadian identity. As a result, many groups felt that a turban would
not have the same level of symbolic sanctity as the Stetson hat, worn by RCMP officers. The Canadian
population also felt that

Who Is Edward Gein
Ed Gein Spenser Wiles Born: August 27, 1906 Death: July 26, 1984 Edward Theodore Gein was born
in La Crosse County, Wisconsin in 1906. The second son of George Philip and Augusta Wilhelmine
Gein. Augusta despised her husband, an alcoholic who was unable to keep a job. He worked various
times as a carpenter and an insurance salesman. Augusta owned a local grocery shop and later sold it
in 1914 for a farm to live in isolation near Plainfield, Wisconsin, which was there permanent home.
Augusta took advantage of the isolation by turning away outsiders from getting close to her sons.
Edward only left the farm to attend school. Outside of school, he spent most of his time doing chores
on the farm. Edward was shy, and classmates and teachers remembered him as having strange
mannerisms, such as random laughter. He tried to make friends but his mother would punish him
whenever he tried. Lacking Social development, he did fairly well in school, particularly reading
class. Later in 1940 his father died from a heart failure caused by his alcoholism on April 1, at age 66.
Ed and his brother Henry began doing odd around town to help pay living expenses. The brothers
were reliable and honest by the community. Henry later began dating a divorced, single mother of two

Stewart And Hurtado
Stewart (1998) examined the applications of feminist theories in personality research, stating how the
incorporation of these concepts may enrich our understanding, while helping us to overcome our
traditional individualism and universalism . In the second chapter of The Handbook of Diversity in
Feminist Psychology, Hurtado (2010) demonstrates many of the concepts discussed by Stewart in this
week s reading. One of Stewart s main points involves reframing one s own perspective in order to
better construct the research question. She believed researchers often construct research problems
from the perspective of educated, middle class professionals and many constructs measured have
different meanings for participants with varying backgrounds (more often idiosyncratic than concrete).
Stewart advocates researchers analyze their own positions in order understand the research problem
more comprehensively. When discussing multicultural feminist theory, Hurtado (2010) touches on
alterations to research methods by implementing self reflexivity and states collaborating with
additional authors, especially across academic disciplines, will broaden researcher s perspectives. This

Three Models And Theories Of Classroom Management
Analysis of Three Models/Theories of Classroom Management
A teacher s classroom duties and responsibilities vary. However, the key role of a teacher is to
maintain effective classroom management by creating a safe and supportive learning environment. To
avoid disorder in the classroom, teachers need to establish an environment where rules or procedures
guide students conduct. The absence of such classroom organisation creates an ineffective and
unsustainable teaching and learning environment. Therefore, an understanding of the different theories
of classroom management such as Goal Centered Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Theory and
Assertive Discipline equips teachers with the knowledge and skills needed to offer students the best
chance to succeed at school. A teacher s beliefs, attitudes and values help inform the best approach;
therefore, an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the three aforementioned theories will be
conducted, in addition to a concluding summary detailing the similarities and differences.
Firstly, Goal Centered Theory [GCT] is a classroom management approach developed by Rudolf
Dreikurs. Dreikurs founded GCT on the psychoeducational philosophies of Alfred Adler s Individual
Psychology Theory (Wright, 1957). The key principles of GCT advise that students behaviour is goal
directed, purposeful and aimed at attaining social approval (Dreikurs, Grunwald Pepper, 1998; Lyons,
Ford Slee, 2014). This instinctive need to belong is reflected in

Should Students Be Allowed To Bring Their Blanket To...

Dec. 1 2016
Students are losing work time due to being cold. Should students be able to bring their blankets to
school with them? Why or why not? If we allow students to bring their blankets to school with them
then there s going to be less kids stressed out about their work because they ll be content and soothed.
There s going to be less students who will be late to school in the mornings because they won t be
freaking out on what they should wear to match the different temperatures throughout the school.

The group feels that students shouldn t be able to bring their blankets to school with them because
students around them or themself will become off topic because more kids will be focused on what s
going on with the blankets. This group feels that by allowing blanket use in the classroom, students
would actually get bad grades. With that argument made students who bring their blankets are going to
cause other around them to get bad grades on their assignments because they won t have a clue on
what s going on in class, the kids who have blankets will cause problems for others who are trying to
do what their told. Some feel that the students who bring their blankets will fall asleep due to being
too comfortable during their school hours, causing them to lose out on getting work done and they ll
fall behind the rest of the class. With students becoming more tired because of having their blankets
then they re more likely to get bad grades, fall behind, be confused on what s going on, in class, and
even distract the other students around them who actually want to get their work

The Wages For Equal Wages
Mind the (Pay) Gap Men in Travis Country, and all over the United States, are almost always paid
higher wages than their female coworkers for doing the same work. Women have been fighting for
equal rights and equal pay since the 19th century and it is about time women and men doing the same
job are paid the same amount. The solution to this is simple: pay women and men equal wages for
equal work. This would seem to be common sense, but it is still something we are fighting for. Census
data shows median yearly income for men in Travis County is approximately $10,000 higher than for
women (kxan.com). Freda Bryson, a Texas State doctoral student and equal pay advocate said, When I
go to buy food or groceries, I don t get a woman s discount, I pay the same thing as a male pays. So
why shouldn t my wages be the same? This quote should send a message: by paying women less than
men, many women simply cannot afford the same basic living expenses as men can. One in four
households with children is headed by a single woman (austincf.org). If a single mom is making
significantly less than a man doing the same work, it is almost impossible to provide a child with a life
above the poverty level. Many women in Travis County are living more than 100% below the line of
poverty, and over half of these women have children to take care of as well. How can you take care of
a child if you cannot even afford to take care of yourself? The gender pay gap is unacceptable and
changes needs to be

The Economy Of Oklahoma During Early Statehood
The economy of Oklahoma during early statehood, from the period 1907 to 1929 can be divided into
two main economic sectors: the economy from the land and the economy from beneath the land. Both
of the economic activities have driven and shaped Oklahoma s history from statehood to now.
Although through most of Oklahoma s history the state s economy has been an extractive economy
using the resources from the land and exporting the raw products out of the state for modest, yet
profitable returns.
As the United States grew in the beginning of the 20th century the demand for meat was always
needed. Fortunately for the young state of Oklahoma the prairie lands of the Great Plains were a
perfect area to feed the numerous heads of animals sent to the butchers that fed America. In 1907,
there were 1,206,800 animals within Oklahoma; nearly all farmers in every country of Oklahoma
raised hogs (Goins and Goble, 171). Oklahoma s ranching economy changed in the youthful years of
statehood as the profession of ranching became more commercialized with intent to maximize the
meat per hoof, which would increase the profit margins (Baird and Goble, 194). One way the ranchers
maximized the meat per hoof was the replacement of Spanish breed longhorn cattle for the heartier
English breed, Hereford (Baird and Goble, 194). Herefords were raised in such numbers that many
referred to Oklahoma as Hereford Heaven (Goins and Goble 172) . As mentioned before plains of
Oklahoma were ideal for grazing

Food services, industrial, personal business, retail and specific shops, state services, auto, river, and
miscellaneous were the main industries. Industrial and personal business surprisingly showed
prominence over the other eight industries New Orleans citizens operated in. Industrial employment
embodied 27.5 percent of the working population, and personal business represented 24.2 percent.
Notably, the marine industry was one of the lowest industries in district one exhibiting only 5.7
percent of the population.
An equivalent simplification process was used for the seventy distinct types of industries listed by
Pittsburgh s fifteenth census. Entertainment, water services, retail and general stores, food services,
industrial work, transportation, general and state services, and self business signified the eight main
industries. Differentiating from the theories specified, water services commanded the data pool by
comprising 27.1 percent of the census population s employment. Unexpectedly, industrial work only
comprised 17.5 percent of the population making it the third largest behind general and state services,
which housed around 21.7 percent.
While researching secondary sources on the southern area of Louisiana, I found during 1930, the state
was beginning to focus on region and structural improvement work because of desired stimulation into
the decreasing economic stability of the state. Marie

The Battle
Perpula listened intently she reported to Armaila that she could hear nothing. It was quiet too quiet
Armaila thought. Florine had instructed them to place pillows and extra clothing underneath their
blankets, to make it looks as if they were sleeping. They were all hiding in the underbrush, ready to
spring out and defend themselves Armaila was sitting on Perpulas back, ready to wield her sword in
battle. Perpula was armed with naught but her sharp claws and teeth, Florine with her sword and
magic, and Fredgar with a small, jagged edged dagger. Earl had Armailas bow, and he and Marie were

Suddenly Perpula straightened up higher she had heard something.
They are coming, Florine stated grimly. After a little bit, Armaila also could hear the sound of hooves
beating the dry ground.
As the riders which Armaila counted as about eighteen, but it was hard to tell came up to the edge of
the firelight, they looked around cautiously. Two dismounted their horses, and slowly and silently
approached what seemed like sleeping bodies. Florine did not give the signal to attack yet.
The two riders went back to the others Armaila could not hear what they were saying, but she did hear
the world Dragon. She suddenly realized something Perpula was not there. That would alert their
enemies to the fact that it must be a decoy.
The two went back, and one carefully pulled back one of the blankets the one that would have been
Florine and held up one of the pillows. The others rode up, a horse stepped on what would have been
Fredgar.
Now! Florine yelled.
Perpula roared loudly and jumped up out of her hiding space, landing on top of one of the riders and
horse she was larger than most horses now. She grabbed the rider, clamping it between her jaws and
swung her head vigorously. She then tossed the still warm body out of the ring of firelight. Florine cut
the head off one, and stabbed another in the heart. The third cut her along the side of her left arm
before she also cut his head off. As Perpula was busy dealing with a rider the same was she had

Stephen Crane Figurative Language Essay
When many people think of war they just think of a bunch of soldiers fighting on a battlefield. Many
people don t think about the families who have just lost loved ones in the war. Some people don t
realize the trauma that the soldiers have to go through because of everything they saw and endured in
the war. Stephen Crane uses figurative language in both his poem and short story to prove that war is
very violent and dangerous. Crane shows his readers different perspectives of the war in order to show
his readers what war is really like. Stephen Crane uses irony in War is Kind and A Mystery of Heroism
to reveal that he is against the war by using figurative language and by showing different perspectives
of the war.

In War is Kind Crane talks about the soldier from the north when he says The unexplained glory flies
above them... because the north is winning. When Crane talks about the south he says Swift, blazing
flag of the regiment... because the south is losing the war. This shows us two different perspectives of
the war the winning side and the losing side. Another perspective Crane shows us is in A Mystery of
Heroism when Collins puts himself in a dangerous situation to prove a point and doesn t realize how
dangerous it really is. Collins only went to go get water after this argument There was a quarrel in A

The Little Grand Canyon Research Paper
Oh my! What a beautiful view! This has to be the most alluring view I have ever seen in my entire
life. Providence Canyon, or as you may know it by the little grand canyon should be considered as a
national park instead of a state park. You may know what I mean if you have visited it yourself you
may even see that it has an exquisite view from the very top of the canyon. Taking this trip was the
best idea I have ever came up with. The Providence Canyon was formed every time it would rain the
soil was very soft and sandy so the plowed soil would be washed away by erosion. When small
ditches were etched into the farmland, and every rainstorm the ditches kept expanding wider and
deeper. It was like a natural cause and effect pattern as the author stated in the second paragraph. It
kind of went into a sequence first the rain would fall; then another inch or two of soil would flow
downstream leaving behind a trench. There was absolutely no way you could stop it from forming.

based on the data provided by TRI, a quick service restaurant company. Given the data, their goal of
this research is to predict the revenue so that they can decide whether it is wise to open a new
restaurant at some places. In this paper, we first want to find a linear model to predict this data. Due to
the limitation of the linear model, several methods, such as PCA (principle component analysis), ridge
regression and robust regression, are used for improving the performance of the original model. Main
issue solved in this paper is the multicollinearity problem. In the original data, 37 continuous variables
are highly collinear. The PCA, ridge regression and robust regression are helpful in some ways.
Finally, we come up with some predictions and use the known data to test the accuracy of our model.

It was then that police were called to the home and evidence started to be collected. Due to Mr. and
Mrs. Simpson s previous police record of domestic violence calls, we were in desperate need to talk to
Mr. Simpson. We called Mr. Simpson shortly after he arrived at his hotel in Chicago. When we
informed him of the murder of his wife, Simpson acted surprisingly calm and collected. He never
asked how, where, or if there are any suspects. During his interrogation, when we asked about a cut on
his hand, he claimed the cut was from golfing and that he reopened it when he smashed some glass in
his hotel room (Linder). He boarded the first plane back to Los Angeles, that s when he found us at his
home conducting a full scale investigation. After we obtained enough evidence, we released a warrant
for the arrest of Orenthal James Simpson. After searching the homes of O.J. Simpson and Nicole
Simpson we came up with much evidence to use in prosecuting O.J. Simpson. First off, the previous
history of violence in the Simpson home was considered evidence. On October 25th, 1993, Nicole
called 9 1 1 asking for someone to be sent to her home, because O.J. had broken in and was violently
yelling at her and banging on her bedroom door. But this was not the first case of domestic violence in

Unit 207 Understand Person Centred Approaches Essays
Unit 207 Understand person centred approaches in adult social care settings.
Outcome 1 Understand person centred approaches for care and support.
1.1 Define Person centred values.
Person centred values means the people whom we support are treated as equals and are involved in all
aspects and areas of their care and that they are respected and valued as individuals. This means being
involved in their assessments, care delivery and support planning, basically person centred values is
making sure all approaches, policies and procedures and care practices put the residents at the centre
of the day to day activities. It should also include the residents and their families in the planning and
maintaining of this.
1.2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The development of a support plan is the perfect example of how person centred working operates.
Instead offering people a choice of what is currently available and finding what best fits their needs,
person centred working looks at someone s needs and built the support package around them. One of
the important aspects of person centred planning is to look at what people are able to do for
themselves and to ensure that services are not taking over aspects of a person s life that they could
perfectly well manage without support.
Outcome 3 Understand the importance of establishing consent when providing care or support.
3.1 Define the word consent
Consent is the informed agreement to an action and/or decision. Permission for something to happen
or agreement to do something.
3.2 Explain the importance of gaining consent when providing care or support.
When working with an individual it is important to uphold their rights to be fully involved in their
own care, whilst adhering to legal requirements. It is also the individuals right to refuse any care,
support or treatment they do not want. It is also essential that people not only give you their consent
but also that they understand what they are consenting to and the implications of this. Gaining consent
protects not just the career but the individual receiving the care and support as well. If no consent is
given then you cannot proceed with the care. It is illegal to pressure anyone into

Reflection Paper On Rock Of Ages
On 21 July 2017, I attended the Rock of Ages jukebox musical, which incorporated popular 1980 s
rock music with the love story of an upcoming rock star and a hopeful actress. Apart from the cast,
dancers and ensemble, there was Ben Walley on keyboard, Phil Simpson on electric guitar, Greg
Fryhling on bass guitar, and Ben Chambers on percussion. The performance took place at the CBC
outdoor Diane Hoch Amphitheatre, which was set up to look like the Bourbon Room in Las Angeles
in the 1980 s. The walls were made of brick, with signs saying, Hollywood BLVD and live nudes,
with a sign saying girls, with an arrow pointing to a door. The audience dressed casual, however, there
were some who dressed up like the 1980 s. The performers, however, were dressed like rock stars and
waitresses, acting out the 1980 s. The performance was laid back, the performers made jokes and the
audience would laugh, and at the end of a scene the audience would clap. The musical consisted of 2
acts, and in the following paragraphs I will explain how the music and the performance made me feel,
the good and the bad.
The performance began with a beautiful introduction, followed by the beginning of the song Come On

My Greatest Accomplishment Was Being A Three Time...
My greatest accomplishment was being a three time heavyweight champion. I got my first title when I

ugly bear, named Sonny Liston. I told him he was too ugly to be a champion and I should be the
Champ because I was young, fast, and handsome. I was right, I beat that ugly bear in the seventh
round. Float like a butterfly sting like a bee is what I told that him. After that fight, I won 11 fights
before losing the belt to Joe frazier. Then in 1975 I regained the title back by beating him in 15
rounds. I said no one could beat me twice and I meant it. Unfortunately, I later lost it to some chump
named Leon Spikes in 15 rounds. Never count me out because I won the title back again one more
time. I got revenge on Leon Spikes and got back what was mine in a unanimous decision. I finished
my boxing career with a 55 6 record and best of all being called the greatest of all time, which I
cannot disagree with. The biggest obstacle people thought I would have, was to overcome being an

Prokaryotic And Eukaryotic Cells Similarities
Cells are the basic unit of all living things. The two most important types of cells are prokaryotic and
eukaryotic cells. These two types of cells differ in many ways, but they also share similarities. One
thing prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells have in common is that they both contain a plasma membrane
and cytoplasm. Another similarity between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells is that they contain
ribosomes.
Prokaryotic cells are usually single celled organisms much small than eukaryotic cells. Bacteria and
archaea are prokaryotes. Prokaryotic cells have no nucleus and no membrane bound organelles.
Prokaryotic cells also do not have chloroplasts or mitochondria. The main difference of prokaryotic
cells from eukaryotic cells is that prokaryotic cells lack a nucleus. Since prokaryotes lack a nucleus
the majority of DNA is stored inside the nucleoid. The DNA inside the nucleoid is looped around
making the DNA circular in shape. Prokaryotic cells contain one chromosome which causes these
cells to reproduce asexually. For prokaryotes to reproduce they must clone itself through a process
called binary fission. A few examples of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eukaryotes are much larger than prokaryotes and consist of many organelles. In eukaryotic cells a
nucleus is present. The nucleus within a eukaryotic cell houses the DNA. The DNA is bound to
proteins and organized into multiple chromosomes. The DNA is linear in shape. Eukaryotic cells
house many important organelles such as the plasma membrane, nucleolus, nucleus, chromosomes
that are paired, ribosomes, lysosomes, vesicle, endoplasmic reticulum, golgi apparatus, mitochondria,
centrioles, cytoplasm, and cytoskeleton. Eukaryotic cells reproduce through a process known as
mitosis. During mitosis the nucleus divides itself. Once divided in half the nuclei becomes separate
cells called cytokinesis. Some examples of eukaryotes are potatoes, grass, pine trees, algae,
tapeworms, and

Multiculturalism Has Had a Rough Start
Obama once said that a multicultural society shows strong economy and a strong country. But is it
true? What about those who cannot integrate? What about all those people who look down at the
immigrants and always blame them for the bad things there happening? And is it a strong society if it
cannot provide its citizens? In Denmark we are having a hard time accepting our immigrants. We
blame them for almost everything. But it is not our immigrants in general; it is primarily those from
the Middle East. If the immigrants come from Sweden, France, England and so on, we have no
problems with them. We do not blame them for those things there going bad, but why? Is it because of
the cultural differences, or is it just easier to blame the Arabs after 9/11? In the UK and the US they
have more success by integrating the immigrants, but they do as well experience the same problems
with the immigration of Arabs. I believe that it is a result of the huge media covering of the terror
situation in the world. And as long as the media are exhibiting people from the Middle East as
terrorists there will be a general negative opinion about the Arab people, and therefore the accepting of
the people from Arabian will be difficult. The problem with the immigrants is the missing integration
of them in the society. But the Danes cannot be blamed for this, because the immigrants are trans
national. What I mean by that is very simple: the immigrants care more for the countries they escaped

A cipher is any method to decoding a secret message in any form. Most people consider Sherlock
Holmes to be the king of all ciphers. Conan Doyle wrote many books about how to figure out ciphers.
Most of the books he wrote were about how to decode written messages. Conan Doyle was influenced
by many but the main persons who influenced him was Edgar Allan Poe, and ?mile Gaboriau. If it was
not for these fames writers Sherlock Holmes would never have been made. He decided to write his
story?s in criminal investigations because he felt the good should win sometimes. He felt that his
stories would influence the way the detective story would be written. Many people in the writing
industry have adapted to Sherlock?s Holmes?s detective style. Being influenced by Conan Doyle
people become inspired to write stories like his. Everyone knows that Conan Doyle had a very

to expand its online market share, thus they want to be perceived as a multichannel retailer for online

The media channels have played a crucial role in transmiting their campaign to the desired public. The

Why Is Anzac Day Important
Why is the Anzac Centenary important for Modern Australia?
Every year, Anzac Day is celebrated across the nation, unifying Australians regardless of their
background or place of birth to commemorate the service and sacrifice displayed by the men and
women of the Anzac Forces. The 25th of April 2015, will mark the Centenary of the Gallipoli
Campaign, and will be one of the most significant commemorations to take place of its generation.
Despite the Campaign having been deemed a disaster with a large number of casualties along with the
failure to achieve military victory, it has contributed tremendously to the development of Australia s
culture and identity. This Campaign observed the emergence of the Anzac Legend, encompassing the

During the Victorian Bushfires, for example, many Australian communities were confronted with
tremendous loss and hardship. It was during these times that the Anzac Spirit was very apparent
amongst the community, with the emergence of everyday Australians surfacing as heroes. Australian
volunteers from across communities, along with official government services came together to assist
victims and to ease their suffering in providing them shelter, basic necessities, as well as moral
support. Nick Jans, a Vietnam Veteran, said the generosity shown after the bushfires invoked the
Anzac spirit, which he stated was not just a matter of the armed forces but deeply embedded in the
Australian psyche 4. It is through the influence of Anzac Legend that has inspired Australians to
recapture the Anzac spirit, engraining the attributes displayed by them to their very own thinking
process. Through such times, the significance of the Anzac Legend and its strong links and influence
to the Australian community are clear. Therefore, the Anzac Centenary is tremendously important for
modern Australia in acknowledging and honoring the Anzac soldiers that fought in Gallipoli, forming
an inheritance that presently, has great meaning and relevance

Analysis Of The My Lai Massacre
The My Lai Massacre is a prime example of America s actions in an attempt to preserve their image,
but this genocide also indepthly grasps the concept of the transitional period from war to sadism. The
23rd Infantry Division of the Charlie Company under the command of Lieutenant William Calley Jr.
committed this heinous massacre, in sum murdering around 500 unarmed civilians. The victims
included men, women, children, elderly ... no one was spared. According to Dr. O Connell, a
sociology professor in UC Irvine among various other universities, men in Vietnam were taught to
mutilate jack rabbits starting from the throat to their genitalia and afterwards perform that exact action
on Vietnamese villagers who were unlucky enough to meet their ... Show more content on

But then again, how are these men, these regular human beings, capable of such horrific actions?
Monstrous acts are not always committed by monstrous people, but from those who have witnessed
incomprehensible pain and suffering. It was reported by Jeffrey Kimball that the members of
Company C had arrived in Vietnam beginning of December and were struggling to keep alive by
March. During their three months in Nam, the Charlie Company had lost four soldiers along with the
thirty eight wounded. To continue, a popular Sargent had been blown to pieces two days before the
My Lai Massacre, which could have acted as a triggering device for what was looming in the not so
distant future. These soldiers were also fighting against guerrilla warfare, meaning they weren t able to
relaiate their frustrations and angers against the enemy because it wasn t open combat. According to
my uncle who had fought in the war, the men in your unit are your brothers, your family. Since
soldiers have minimal contact with the outside world, with the exception through letter mail and the
very occasional television news broadcasts, the fellow soldiers besides you are what keeps you sane ...
at least as sane as one can stay in a perpetual state of war. I argue that the men who took part in the

Sexual Desires In The Awakening And Adventure By Sherwood...
Women in history have always been the less dominant sex. They have to conform to societal standard
and act the part that is stereotypically place in society for them. Women are stereotypically mothers,
wives and caretakers of their family. The Awakening by Kate Chopin and Adventure by Sherwood
Anderson are two literature pieces that share the theme of suppressed sexual desires. Chopin work
tells of a woman by the name of Edna, who is living in the Victorian era. She is a mother and wife that
is unhappy with the life she is currently living. To bring happiness and pleasure into her life she starts
to seek attention from other men, which leads to her sexual awakening and eventual suicide. Similarly,
Anderson work tells of a young woman by the name of Alice who fell in ... Show more content on

Eventually her desperate need for love took a toll on her causing her to run naked in the rain. Chopin
and Anderson are telling us by suppressing one sexual desire it leads to deep frustration. The main
character in the two texts, Edna and Alice, both yearn for sexual freedom that is guarded by a
constraining society, as a result they become isolated, lonely and frustrated. Edna find fulfillment
through her experiences with other men, while Alice find fulfillment through her obsession with
inanimate objects.
Edna and Alice are both isolating themselves because they cannot express their sexual feelings the
way they want to, due to societal standards. Edna in The Awakening is detached from people around
her because she is realizing she doesn t have to conform to a woman role that is defined by society. As
quoted, Once she stopped, and taking off her wedding ring, flung it upon the carpet. When she saw it
lying there, she stamped her heel upon it, striving to crush it (57). This is the turning point to Edna s
isolation because now as she embarks on what she wants internally everyone around her is starting to

Owning Exotic Pets Research Paper
Currently, in the pet market, a very prominent issue is present. Should private citizens be legally
allowed to own exotic pets? Owning exotic pets is dangerous, expensive, and cruel. The average
human should not be allowed to own exotic pets. In the first place, owning an exotic pet can be a risk
to your safety. The size of the animal does not determine how dangerous it is. In the article Do You
Really Want A Baby Tiger? the author Mia Lewis states It s not just big cats, poisonous snakes and
chimpanzees that can be harmful even smaller exotic pets can cause serious injuries. How dangerous
exotic pets can be is just another reason why they should not be owned by private citizens.
Along with being dangerous, exotic pets are also very expensive. Buying exotic pets is costly enough,
but they also require a great deal of money to maintain. A strong, large, sturdy habitat must be built for
the animal along with buying large amounts of food. On page 7, paragraph 3, Lewis states If keeping a
dog can be time consuming and costly, that s nothing compared to a adult lion or chimpanzee. Aside
from the cost of keeping a exotic pet, they need lots of of time and frequent attention that most people
simply don t have. Exotic pets being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Shakti Chit And Prana Essay
Shakti, Chit, and Prana
Every act, every thought, every activity involves awareness, do these actions instinctively,
unconsciously, and without deliberateness and awareness is consumed in the maintenance of the Self.
Perform these acts deliberately and with impeccable Intent and one increases awareness.
Shakti, Chit, and Prana are terms that have interconnected meanings; Shakti (aether) is the most subtle
or pure of the forces and is the original source of Chit and Prana, while the latter is also the power that
flows through the Sri Yantra when activated. Shakti is often referred to as Spirit, Divine Spirit, or Holy
Spirit in western esoteric circles. In Hinduism in it is considered the primordial cosmic energy
representing the dynamic forces that are thought to move through the entire universe, a divine
feminine creative power, sometimes referred to as The Great Divine Mother.
Concepts similar to Shakti, Chit, and Prana can be found in many cultures; for example, it is Prana or
vital air in yoga, Qi (Chi or Ch i) in Chinese culture, Mana in Hawaiian culture, Lüng in Tibetan
Buddhism, Ruah in Hebrew culture, and Vital Force, or Orgone energy in current Western esoteric
philosophy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast The Cost Of Blockbuster Movies
How much does it cost to make a blockbuster movie? It takes a lot of work and money to make
movies. A film has to go through three stages of preproduction, production and post production in
order to create that film. There are many similarities from the studio system and the independent
system but today majority of the films are established with a combination of independents and the
major studios. Movies start in the preproduction phase where they began the process and start to try to
secure financing for their project. Sometimes producers have enough money to begin their project. If
they don t have any start up money to begin, they will have to try and market their ideas of projection
of costs and profits to investors. According to Barsam and Monahan (2016), No ... Show more content

The movies are so expensive because there are so many costs that go in to a budget for a film.
Typically, the highest costs in films are for the cast and the industry has gotten creative to finding
ways to assist instead of paying a fee for an actor or producer upfront, to include it in the contract as a
percentage of the profits goes to them. Some examples of the costs of a movie are: Story, director,
producer, cinematography, cast and etc. The studio system will use a general manager to assist with
budget, while the independent system uses a producer. The marketing and distribution are a very
important stage in the post production phase. They need to gauge the interest of audiences by using
preview screenings along with questionnaires. Once they analyze all the information, they can adapt
or modify the distribution to ensure the most effective ways of getting their profits. Before the
Supreme Court Paramount Decision, the studio system controlled everything from production,
distribution and exhibition and now they have to use other companies to assist in the distribution and
exhibition. The independent system had different routes they could take by

Cloning Essay
Cloning
Cloning is an unethical action that should not be tampered with physically in any animal form
regardless of what it is. This is a genetically engineered process by humans, in which, perfectly
generated genes from someone or something is copied into its own life form to be an exact replica. In
the article Calves cloned to produce drugs there are two cows involved with cloning. People should
not be tampering with this, but letting God create people and animals the way he has it planned out to
be. Not to mention, no two or more life forms should ever be exactly alike with the exact same genes
(except for plants who are that way anyhow). With this happening to animals now and evolving
toward humans, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one should ever try and alter genes to any animal coming into this world, therefore in this news
article, the cows should have never been cloned. In an article in Time magazine, Richard Seed (a well
educated man that graduated from Harvard)
Page 2 wanted to start up a commercial cloning clinic. As soon as that was released to public,
President Clinton blasted the idea as untested and unsafe and morally unacceptable (Nash 58). People
around the country reacted nervous and uneasy. This was an example of one person that has the desire
and knowledge to do such a thing as this. If we don t stop him now, then there will be many more
doctors who will follow and set up this idea of cloning around the world. Then the next thing you
know, there will be hundreds of people identical and healthy everywhere. There is nothing wrong with
the people being healthy, but not becoming that way from cloning. Being healthy should be our job as
humans to keep up with our own body. As the article continued, Seed posed his whole idea of opening
the clinic from his interest in biomedicine and discovered a technique for transferring embryos in
cattle (58). This is a whole new idea that cloning of animals can lead to cloning of our human race.
Seed began his work with embryos in cattle and now he has expanded his idea to form a human
cloning clinic. These are the kind of people that are going to want to go further in the cloning of

In the novel, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz written by Mordecai Richler, we meet Duddy
Kravitz, a young entrepreneur who is trying to become successful, as any other business man would.
Throughout the novel Duddy meets numerous different people who are either business partners or
people he believes he can get advice from to allow Duddy to gain wealth. Duddy is a well known

point towards times when Duddy acted selfish, which is why there is no reason for anyone to believe
that Duddy is successful just because of the people around him. With this being said, there is no
reason to judge anyone for making a reasonable selfish decision in this novel, if it will allow them to

specific form of turning a blind eye to something that is none of your business , a very different kind

  • 2. Louis Riel Summary The second part of the comic strip biography Louis Riel by Chester Brown, starts off in early September 1870 in St. Joseph, Dakota territory. Louis Riel is reading a note which talks about how the Canadian soldiers have wreaked havoc on the Red River Colony. It talks about how some Métis men had been murdered and quite a few were beaten. Women had also been raped in the settlement too. The Canadian soldiers have brought a reign of fear to the Red River settlement. This is an excerpt from the note Louis Riel was reading. Also, Schultz returned and was basically running things. The comic strip biography then fasts forwards to the summer of 1871. Louis Riel is reading another note now. This one is talking about how the land the people of the settlement had been promised by the Canadian government was being given to people from Eastern Canada. The exceptional rich farmland was being given to the British farmers and the requests for land were being delayed. After this Riel goes to his mother s house in the settlement and finds that many of the soldiers have went home. His mother though, warns him to lay low. The story then shifts and fast forwards to Ottawa in the December of 1871, about five to seven months later. Father Ritchot has arranged a meeting with John Alexander Macdonald to discuss amnesty for Louis Riel s crimes. Father Ritchot immediately confronts John Alexander Macdonald, demanding to know why the amnesty was not granted. John Alexander Macdonald responds by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Designing A Mathematical Model For Interpersonal... Personally speaking, I think the definition of hobbies is that someone prefers do so than go to sleep at night. In that case, I listed my hobbies as below. One of them is doing math problems. It is a pleasure for me to solve those intriguing problems. Every time I solve a problem that was challenging to me, I feel very happy for the self achievement. Even if it occurs at a deep night, I will get refreshed by the ecstasy. I was only four when I first tasted the sweetness of math. At the high school, this interest has extended to the enjoyment of modeling, because constructing a model is arduous too, whereas a good result brings really a lot of happiness at the end. Much related to modeling, my research problem in 2015 is to construct a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With programming skills, I finished a number of projects, whose success facilitated me to continue on my work. For instance, I celebrated my ten year old birthday party by successfully constructing a program that could either produce or solve sudoku puzzles. On that day, the program gave me a puzzle, and solved the puzzle itself. I considered this gift as more memorable than any other one. In my high school, I made a software that helps us reciting English vocabularies by a technique similar to flashcards. The advantage in efficiency makes it better than the latter. The software, for example, supports data importing while flashcards do not. In addition to the improvement of manual efficiency, the software expressed a strong enhancement of the users speed of reciting words, aka., the effectiveness. It was based on the forgetting curve proposed by Hermann Ebbinghaus, which quantifies the interval between each repetition of memorizing process. I made a little adjustment to the values, and set them as the time intervals between the repetitive appearances of a word. In this sense, the word repeats again and again, and deepens the memorization every time. The memorization becomes very deep using this strategy. I made a comparison between the efficiency of reciting vocabularies using the traditional methodology and using this program. The result was that both in one hour, the traditional way could only make me fully recall approximately 120 words, whereas the program ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Decarbonize Urban Areas If we are going to decarbonise our cities and regions, we need to promote high density urban development. Increasing density reduces the size of houses and overall its consumption of resources (Rauland and Newman 2011). The authors further contend, therefore that increasing density has numerous other benefits, including enabling better public transport infrastructure such as light rail and trains as well as increasing the walkability of cities, all of which will significantly reduce transport emissions ( Rauland and Newman p. 6. 2011). Adding density to transform cities can also improve quality of life by offering more local amenities and better lifestyles ( Rauland and Newman 2011). The Cockburn Town Centre development is perfect example. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. How The Civil War Became A War To Free The Slaves When President Lincoln first called for troops to put down the confederate rebellion, he made no connection between this action and an attempt to end slavery. In fact, he explicitly stated the utmost care will be observed to avoid any devastation, any destruction of, or interference with, property... At this point, slavery was not yet integral to the struggle, it was much more important for the Union to air on the side of political prudence and avoid angering loyal boarder states. However, despite this lack of political dialogue, many abolitionists, slaves, and free blacks felt the war to preserve the union could also be a war to end slavery. In the end, they were right, as military need overwhelmed potential political dangers, slaves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite these misgivings, the Union policy of returning slaves who had not been employed by the Confederacy continued as the army moved through the boarder states. When they began to move deeper south, however, this policy became much more difficult to enforce. General Ambrose E. Burnside found this to be true after invading coastal North Carolina and finding virtually no loyal slaveholders but many slaves who seemed to be wild with excitement and delight. This, combined with ever increasing recognition of fugitive slave labors importance to the Union war effort, led Congress to declare in March 1892 that Union soldiers were forbidden to return fugitive slaves to their owners. Even with this change in policy, the federal government continued to overrule emancipation efforts as they attempted to retain the loyalty of slaveholding boarder states. When General David Hunter proclaimed freedom for all slaves in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, he was quickly overruled by President Lincoln. However, while Lincoln clearly stuck down General Hunter s proclamation, he also offered aid to the boarder states so they may adopt a gradual abolishment of slavery. Despite this set back, Hunter continued to work for the emancipation of slaves, and went so far as to enlist ex slaves as soldiers without any authorization to do so. • 7. Thoughtful Reasoning For The Ultimate Punishment Linda Chin Mr. Hoague AP Lit and Comp, Period 1 14 October 2015 Thoughtful Reasoning for the Ultimate Punishment Only the most dangerous criminals in the world are faced with society s ultimate penalty, or at least that is the theory. Capital punishment, commonly referred to as the Death Penalty has been debated for many decades regarding if such a method is ethical. While there are large amounts of supporters for the death penalty as a form of retribution, the process is avoidable financially as taxing for all parties involved. The financial expenses may be better off saved for life imprisonment with an emphasis in restorative justice for victims. Overall, there is unreasonable inefficiency with the capital punishment to justify the taking of another person s life. The death penalty process is often overlooked in the justice system and exhausts millions of dollars on trials and repeals. Unlike countries with speedy execution processes, the U.S. judicial system is known for having lengthy trials and judgement dates because of mandatory appeals. Richard C. Dieter, Executive Director of the Death Penalty Information Center, briefly describes the fundamentals of a death penalty case, Every stage of a capital case is more time consuming and expensive than in a typical criminal case. If the defendant is found guilty of a capital crime, an entire separate trial is required, with new witnesses and new evidence, in which the jury must decide whether the penalty should be ... During the years of the Spanish Civil War, Hitler and Mussolini aided Spanish General Francisco Franco with artillery, airplanes, and tanks. Often soldiers would test firearm weapons on people of small towns in Spain. On April 27, 1937, the small Basque village has been bombed by German soldiers due to its population which was considered intimidating. • 9. Bhopal, Bhopal And Its Effects Thirty years ago in Bhopal, India, an accident at the Union Carbide pesticide plant led to around thirty tons of highly toxic gases to fill the air and spread through the nearby towns. When the accident occurred, over 600,000 people were exposed to the very deadly gas. Over the past years, 15,000 people have been killed by the disaster and it s effects. (Union Carbide Corporation, 2001 2014) Toxic material still remains in Bhopal to this day. (Taylor, 2014) This accident occurred in 1984 at the Union Carbide plant, which had been established in Bhopal in 1969. Reports began months before the disaster of the possibility of a huge accident. Staff had been being laid off for weeks prior and that had led to less and less safety checks. (Taylor, 2014) The gas that leaked is named Methyl Isocyanine. Methyl Isocyanine is used as a popular pesticide. When in it s liquid form, the chemical is odorless and very flammable. In a gas though, it is highly toxic and irritating. The organic compound can also be found in small amounts in certain cigarettes. Union Carbide was using Methyl Isocyanate as an intermediate. Methylamine was made to react with phosgene to produce the Methyl Isocyanate, which then reacts with 1 naphthol to form carbonyl, which is the final product. The accident was triggered when water entered Tank E610, which contained more than 40 tons of methyl isocyanate, initiating a runaway reaction. • 10. The Jungle by Upton Sinclair Essay The Jungle, written by Upton Sinclair was a very touching and motivating story. Sinclair aimed for our hearts, but instead, he hit our stomachs. The Jungle is a story of hardships and trouble, some successes and many failures as a family tries to achieve the American Dream. In this book, The Jurgis Ruckus myth of failure is the other side of the Horatio Alger s myth of success. (xxvi) Although this book was written about the hardships of a family, it was not just a story for one to read and feel sympathy for the family, but it had many real life reasons behind the events that went on and happened. Sinclair wanted to open the eyes of people and make them aware of what was going on, and ultimately, wanted to start a revolution to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (p. 148 149) This insert above is a prime example of the hardships of finding jobs during this time. So many people were looking for jobs and the demand for them was a lot higher than the supply of them. Once people found jobs, the working conditions were terrible. A new idea came about called speeding up where once the workers reached a pace, then, they would speed them up more and working at outrageous speeds. If one could not keep up with the speed and the job, they would get the boot and be replaced by someone else looking for a job. It was the first time in his life he had ever really worked and that he had ever had anything to do which took all he had in him (He) stood with the rest up in the gallery and watched the men on the killing beds, marveling at their speed and power and never occurred to one to think of the flesh and blood side of it – that ... • 11. Psychology Of Fear Many individuals would agree that at least one thing terrifies them. In fact, there is a whole television series based on what strange phobias people have. These fears or phobias can range from anything consisting of being terrified of the dark, to being petrified to simply stand next to a person. People often wonder what causes a fear. One unique theory as to why these fears develop, is that they are the effect of a traumatic event that took place in the person s life. In addition, another philosophy is that fear is the body s natural defense to danger. Whatever the cause may be, fear has the gift to maintain a person s safety or the capability to render a person s life miserable. Yet, why is something so nourishing also, the same factor that terrorizes me. Water was not always a fear that I possessed, after all I spent a majority of my summer days at our local swimming pool. Nothing could possibly compare to being surrounded by cold water on a hot summer day except, maybe the smell that filled the atmosphere. R1 Ariane Research Paper R1 Ariane is a disposable rocket, that carries charges for low altitude orbits (300km to 2000km altitude), it can carries from 6 to 9,5 tons, depending on the orbit of the charge (lower more, higher less), the company responsible for the production is the EADS SPACE transportation, this company is supervisioned by ESA, and the rocket is operated by the company Arianespace. The rocket Ariane 5, on June of 1996, exploded 40 seconds after launch, on an altitude of 3.7 km, the debris of the rocket felt in an area of 5x2.5 km^2, in an area of hard access, because of it, not all the parts of the rocket were found, the sequence that originated the explosion was: 22 seconds after the hour zero (H0) there was a variation of 10Hz in the hydraulic pressure in ... Later in the analysis of the data about the accident, is was found that the same system used in the rocket Ariane 5, was used in the rocket Ariane 4, the cause for the system failure was an error in a subroutine in the computer responsible for the Inertial Reference (SRI), the error was an operand error , which happened when a 64 bit floating point couldn t be converted to 16 bit signed integer, the value was too large to be converted, and caused the software exception, and the code wasn t ready to handle this type of error (exception handling). The software used in the Ariane 4 was clearly not suitable for the Ariane 5, the variation of behavior between the two launchings was too big, the alignment function was operative based in the data of the Ariane 4, where the system operable for the first 40 seconds of flight could handle the data (based on acceleration), this characteristics was valuable only for this rocket, but not usable in Ariane 5, due this rocket had higher initial acceleration (5x more), it made the system stop working (OperandError), and resulted in the chain of occurrences, causing malfunction and subsequently the ... • 13. Persuasive Articles on Gun Control Essays Persuasive Articles on Gun Control Persuading an audience can be done in several different fashions, one of which is Hugh Rank s Model of Persuasion. Rank s model states that two major strategies are used to achieve the particular goal of persuasion. These strategies are nicely set into two main schemas; the first method is to exaggerate an aspect of something, known as intensify. While the second is to discredit it, which is referred to as downplay. Al Franken, Jeffrey Snyder, Harlan Ellison, and George Will, have all written persuasive articles about gun control. In reading all of the various articles on gun control by authors, I found George F. Will s The Last Word to be the most persuasive. Will wrote his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Franken was also able to downplay the usefulness of a firearm by including a series of sarcastic tips for tragedy in a home. For example, 1. Keep the gun loaded... 2. Put the gun in an unlocked drawer... 3. Rest assured. 1 Where Franken s article comes up short is the use of hypothetical numbers to exaggerate and intensify the deadliness of guns. His sarcasm adds diversity to his piece, but should be used sparingly. Franken s conclusion causes his argument to lose its effectiveness, after building his case it just seems ridiculous and out of place. The least persuasive essay out of the four was Harlan Ellison s An Edge in My Voice. Ellison presents his argument in a style that seems to me is more of a disgruntled rambling about both famous and infamous people that die from gun shot, than an article about gun control. Ellison spends the first few pages asking the reader if they cried when a certain person died; he begins with famous people such as Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy, and John Lennon, and then moves on to more obscure examples. Instead of trying to build an argument, Ellison seemed to be more caught up with anger and the notion of conspiracies. He does however try to use the intensify technique of Rank s model, to persuade the reader of the horror of deaths caused by guns and their importance. Although Ellison did try to persuade his audience in a different manor, I felt it was ineffective at best, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The above scores can be used to make a decision rule to classify a customer into the user or non user category based on the responses given by them in the questionnaire. The cut off score for classifying a buyer and non buyer is given by the formula C = (n2Y1+n1Y2)/ (n1+n2) From the data obtained from the survey, we have identified 50 non users and 39 users. Thus substituting n1= 52 and n2=39, Y1= 1.029 and Y2= 1.373, we get C to be 0.34357. New technologies and ideas helped the nation grow, while the Civil War ripped the nation apart. During this tumultuous period, two great American writers captured their ideas in poetry. Their poems give us insight into the time period, as well as universal insight about life. Although polar opposites in personality, Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman created similar poetry. Dickinson s Hope is a Thing with Feathers and Whitman s O Captain! My Captain! share many qualities. br br Hope is a Thing with Feathers and O Captain! My Captain! contain a similar scansion. Unlike in Dickinson s poem, the rhyming scheme carries throughout the whole poem, although the AABBCDED rhyme pattern contains a few cases of near rhyme. br br Dickinson and Whitman also use similar poetic devices in Hope is a Thing with Feathers and O Captain! My Captain! Each poem contains an extended metaphor. In Dickinson s poem, a bird clearly symbolizes hope. The first stanza introduces the bird metaphor: ‘Hope is the thing with feathers /That perches in the soul. The next lines ‘And sings the tune without the words /And never stops—at all— illustrate the interminable nature of the bird and hope. The second stanza expands the metaphor by saying ‘And sweetest—in the Gale—is heard—. The bird s song, or hope, is the sweetest during a Gale, or troubled times. The first lines in the final stanza ‘I ve heard it in the chillest land / And on the strangest Sea describe the bird, or hope, as being everywhere. The last lines ‘Yet, never, in Extremity,/It asked a crumb—of Me show the unselfish nature of the bird; hope never asks for anything in return. O Captain! • 16. Descriptive Essay On Present Day Present day While walking through the lush green grass of the retirement home, many thoughts began to swirl in my mind. I started thinking of the years that have flowed by me like a bullet slicing through the wind. All the years of fun, enjoyment, sadness and grief. All the moments of desire and hope I can still feel until this day. My experiences in life through the years have helped me to view the world today; in a new perspective. Some part of me wishes right now that I was raised up in this era, for the people are much more open minded and open to the unknown. Early 1960 s One afternoon a boy came running up the parchment with his black hair swaying with each step towards the window. Upon reaching the window, he effortlessly climbed onto the windowsill and over it. He collapsed onto the floor while the ball he was carrying bounced along the floor. My eyes followed it until it hit my feet. I raised my gaze from the football that lay at my toes, to suddenly meet a set of sky blue eyes. I couldn t help but let out a smile, and neither could he. Hi, he said in a high tone, his voice cracking mid way through. Hi, I said rapidly darting my eyes back down. Who are you?, I asked bluntly. He got up slowly, flinching at the pain in his shoulder; massaging it in order to make them feel better I guess. I saw that the window was open and just thought I had to investigate. • 17. Why Was The Visit From Commodore Perry A Turning Point In... 1. Why was the visit from Commodore Perry a turning point in Japanese history? Before 1853, Japan remained in isolation from the other Western powers, but the arrival of Commodore Matthew C. Perry influenced Japan to expand their trade. With the American fleet of warships led by Perry, it intimidated Japan to open their foreign interests in hope of arising trading opportunities from both sides. In a way, the U.S. military superiority spurred the Japanese to agree to the Treaty of Kanagawa. This treaty allowed the return of American sailors, allowed U.S. residence, and opened two ports in Japan. This indicated that Perry s visit marked a turning point in Japan s history; in addition, Japan continued to negotiate treaties with U.S. and other countries for opening their ports for trade and residence. 2. How was Japan s experience after 1854 similar to China? Japan s experiences after 1854 were very similar to those of China s. For instance, China and Japan served as important foreign interests to the Western powers. The reason why the Western powers were so interested in those two countries was due to the increasing rivalry and economic interests. • 18. Multiculturalism and the Canadian identity Essay Multiculturalism and the Canadian identity. Introduction What is Canada? What is a Canadian? Canada, to employ Voltaire s analogy, is nothing but a few acres of snow. . Of course, the philosopher spoke of New France, when he made that analogy. More recently, a former Prime Minister, Joe Clark, said that the country was nothing but a community of communities . Both these images have helped us, in one way or another, try to interpret what could define this country. On the other hand, a Canadian could be a beer, a hockey playing beaver or even a canoe floating in a summer day s sunset. A Canadian could also be a sovereigntyphobe , refusing to see the liquefaction, albeit political, of the second largest country in the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While the rest of Canada employs the concept of multiculturalism, Quebec emphasizes on another theory: interculturalism, or the notion of support in cross cultural dialogue and challenging self segregation tendencies within cultures. In the province, the word multiculturalism announces pejorative meanings. This was due, in part, to the fact that a federal commission which was charged several years ago with the task of developing policies for Canada, based on its bicultural and bilingual character emerged with a recommendation that Canada think of itself as a multicultural and bilingual country.3 . Francophones, on the other hand, felt that this concept placed them at the same level as minority ethnic groups, thus erasing their thoughts of being seen as one of the country s founding nations. Religious symbolism and governmental position In 1985, a request, made by Baltej Singh Dhillon, who asked to allow the addition of a religious symbol to the RCMP s emblematic red uniform, changed the way the force was perceived, in the country. This gesture begged one question: Would a religious symbol be accepted, in any given governmental environment, where religious attire is often seen a source of tension? For many, the RCMP was seen as the pinnacle of Canadian identity. As a result, many groups felt that a turban would not have the same level of symbolic sanctity as the Stetson hat, worn by RCMP officers. The Canadian population also felt that ... Augusta took advantage of the isolation by turning away outsiders from getting close to her sons. Edward only left the farm to attend school. Outside of school, he spent most of his time doing chores on the farm. Edward was shy, and classmates and teachers remembered him as having strange mannerisms, such as random laughter. • 20. Stewart And Hurtado Stewart (1998) examined the applications of feminist theories in personality research, stating how the incorporation of these concepts may enrich our understanding, while helping us to overcome our traditional individualism and universalism . In the second chapter of The Handbook of Diversity in Feminist Psychology, Hurtado (2010) demonstrates many of the concepts discussed by Stewart in this week s reading. One of Stewart s main points involves reframing one s own perspective in order to better construct the research question. She believed researchers often construct research problems from the perspective of educated, middle class professionals and many constructs measured have different meanings for participants with varying backgrounds (more often idiosyncratic than concrete). Stewart advocates researchers analyze their own positions in order understand the research problem more comprehensively. • 21. Three Models And Theories Of Classroom Management Analysis of Three Models/Theories of Classroom Management A teacher s classroom duties and responsibilities vary. However, the key role of a teacher is to maintain effective classroom management by creating a safe and supportive learning environment. To avoid disorder in the classroom, teachers need to establish an environment where rules or procedures guide students conduct. The absence of such classroom organisation creates an ineffective and unsustainable teaching and learning environment. Therefore, an understanding of the different theories of classroom management such as Goal Centered Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Theory and Assertive Discipline equips teachers with the knowledge and skills needed to offer students the best chance to succeed at school. A teacher s beliefs, attitudes and values help inform the best approach; therefore, an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the three aforementioned theories will be conducted, in addition to a concluding summary detailing the similarities and differences. Firstly, Goal Centered Theory [GCT] is a classroom management approach developed by Rudolf Dreikurs. Dreikurs founded GCT on the psychoeducational philosophies of Alfred Adler s Individual Psychology Theory (Wright, 1957). The key principles of GCT advise that students behaviour is goal directed, purposeful and aimed at attaining social approval (Dreikurs, Grunwald Pepper, 1998; Lyons, Ford Slee, 2014). • 23. The Wages For Equal Wages Mind the (Pay) Gap Men in Travis Country, and all over the United States, are almost always paid higher wages than their female coworkers for doing the same work. Women have been fighting for equal rights and equal pay since the 19th century and it is about time women and men doing the same job are paid the same amount. The solution to this is simple: pay women and men equal wages for equal work. This would seem to be common sense, but it is still something we are fighting for. Census data shows median yearly income for men in Travis County is approximately $10,000 higher than for women (kxan.com). Freda Bryson, a Texas State doctoral student and equal pay advocate said, When I go to buy food or groceries, I don t get a woman s discount, I pay the same thing as a male pays. So why shouldn t my wages be the same? This quote should send a message: by paying women less than men, many women simply cannot afford the same basic living expenses as men can. One in four households with children is headed by a single woman (austincf.org). If a single mom is making significantly less than a man doing the same work, it is almost impossible to provide a child with a life above the poverty level. Many women in Travis County are living more than 100% below the line of poverty, and over half of these women have children to take care of as well. • 24. The Economy Of Oklahoma During Early Statehood The economy of Oklahoma during early statehood, from the period 1907 to 1929 can be divided into two main economic sectors: the economy from the land and the economy from beneath the land. Both of the economic activities have driven and shaped Oklahoma s history from statehood to now. Although through most of Oklahoma s history the state s economy has been an extractive economy using the resources from the land and exporting the raw products out of the state for modest, yet profitable returns. As the United States grew in the beginning of the 20th century the demand for meat was always needed. Fortunately for the young state of Oklahoma the prairie lands of the Great Plains were a perfect area to feed the numerous heads of animals sent to the butchers that fed America. In 1907, there were 1,206,800 animals within Oklahoma; nearly all farmers in every country of Oklahoma raised hogs (Goins and Goble, 171). Oklahoma s ranching economy changed in the youthful years of statehood as the profession of ranching became more commercialized with intent to maximize the meat per hoof, which would increase the profit margins (Baird and Goble, 194). One way the ranchers maximized the meat per hoof was the replacement of Spanish breed longhorn cattle for the heartier English breed, Hereford (Baird and Goble, 194). Herefords were raised in such numbers that many referred to Oklahoma as Hereford Heaven (Goins and Goble 172) . As mentioned before plains of Oklahoma were ideal for grazing ... The Providence Canyon was formed every time it would rain the soil was very soft and sandy so the plowed soil would be washed away by erosion. When small ditches were etched into the farmland, and every rainstorm the ditches kept expanding wider and deeper. It was like a natural cause and effect pattern as the author stated in the second paragraph. It kind of went into a sequence first the rain would fall; then another inch or two of soil would flow downstream leaving behind a trench. There was absolutely no way you could stop it from forming. In this paper, we first want to find a linear model to predict this data. Due to the limitation of the linear model, several methods, such as PCA (principle component analysis), ridge regression and robust regression, are used for improving the performance of the original model. Main issue solved in this paper is the multicollinearity problem. In the original data, 37 continuous variables are highly collinear. The PCA, ridge regression and robust regression are helpful in some ways. Finally, we come up with some predictions and use the known data to test the accuracy of our model. Person centred values means the people whom we support are treated as equals and are involved in all aspects and areas of their care and that they are respected and valued as individuals. This means being involved in their assessments, care delivery and support planning, basically person centred values is making sure all approaches, policies and procedures and care practices put the residents at the centre of the day to day activities. It should also include the residents and their families in the planning and maintaining of this. 1.2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The development of a support plan is the perfect example of how person centred working operates. Instead offering people a choice of what is currently available and finding what best fits their needs, person centred working looks at someone s needs and built the support package around them. One of the important aspects of person centred planning is to look at what people are able to do for themselves and to ensure that services are not taking over aspects of a person s life that they could perfectly well manage without support. Outcome 3 Understand the importance of establishing consent when providing care or support. 3.1 Define the word consent Consent is the informed agreement to an action and/or decision. Permission for something to happen or agreement to do something. 3.2 Explain the importance of gaining consent when providing care or support. When working with an individual it is important to uphold their rights to be fully involved in their own care, whilst adhering to legal requirements. It is also the individuals right to refuse any care, support or treatment they do not want. It is also essential that people not only give you their consent but also that they understand what they are consenting to and the implications of this. Gaining consent protects not just the career but the individual receiving the care and support as well. If no consent is given then you cannot proceed with the care. • 36. Reflection Paper On Rock Of Ages On 21 July 2017, I attended the Rock of Ages jukebox musical, which incorporated popular 1980 s rock music with the love story of an upcoming rock star and a hopeful actress. Apart from the cast, dancers and ensemble, there was Ben Walley on keyboard, Phil Simpson on electric guitar, Greg Fryhling on bass guitar, and Ben Chambers on percussion. The performance took place at the CBC outdoor Diane Hoch Amphitheatre, which was set up to look like the Bourbon Room in Las Angeles in the 1980 s. The walls were made of brick, with signs saying, Hollywood BLVD and live nudes, with a sign saying girls, with an arrow pointing to a door. The audience dressed casual, however, there were some who dressed up like the 1980 s. The performers, however, were dressed like rock stars and waitresses, acting out the 1980 s. The performance was laid back, the performers made jokes and the audience would laugh, and at the end of a scene the audience would clap. The musical consisted of 2 acts, and in the following paragraphs I will explain how the music and the performance made me feel, the good and the bad. The performance began with a beautiful introduction, followed by the beginning of the song Come On Feel The Noize, by Quiet Riot. During the introduction, the music made me feel free and alive. I could picture myself drinking a cold beer with a guitar in my lap. Immediately following the beginning of the song Noize was the song Just Like Paradise, by David Lee Roth, which flowed ... The fight was February 25, 1964 in Miami Beach, Florida. I was a 7 1 underdog against that ugly bear, named Sonny Liston. I told him he was too ugly to be a champion and I should be the Champ because I was young, fast, and handsome. I was right, I beat that ugly bear in the seventh round. Float like a butterfly sting like a bee is what I told that him. After that fight, I won 11 fights before losing the belt to Joe frazier. Then in 1975 I regained the title back by beating him in 15 rounds. I said no one could beat me twice and I meant it. Unfortunately, I later lost it to some chump named Leon Spikes in 15 rounds. Never count me out because I won the title back again one more time. I got revenge on Leon Spikes and got back what was mine in a unanimous decision. I finished my boxing career with a 55 6 record and best of all being called the greatest of all time, which I cannot disagree with. The biggest obstacle people thought I would have, was to overcome being an african american. But I took pride in the fact that I was labeled black. • 38. Prokaryotic And Eukaryotic Cells Similarities Cells are the basic unit of all living things. The two most important types of cells are prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. These two types of cells differ in many ways, but they also share similarities. One thing prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells have in common is that they both contain a plasma membrane and cytoplasm. Another similarity between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells is that they contain ribosomes. Prokaryotic cells are usually single celled organisms much small than eukaryotic cells. Bacteria and archaea are prokaryotes. Prokaryotic cells have no nucleus and no membrane bound organelles. Prokaryotic cells also do not have chloroplasts or mitochondria. The main difference of prokaryotic cells from eukaryotic cells is that prokaryotic cells lack a nucleus. Since prokaryotes lack a nucleus the majority of DNA is stored inside the nucleoid. The DNA inside the nucleoid is looped around making the DNA circular in shape. Prokaryotic cells contain one chromosome which causes these cells to reproduce asexually. For prokaryotes to reproduce they must clone itself through a process called binary fission. A few examples of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What about all those people who look down at the immigrants and always blame them for the bad things there happening? And is it a strong society if it cannot provide its citizens? In Denmark we are having a hard time accepting our immigrants. We blame them for almost everything. But it is not our immigrants in general; it is primarily those from the Middle East. If the immigrants come from Sweden, France, England and so on, we have no problems with them. We do not blame them for those things there going bad, but why? Is it because of the cultural differences, or is it just easier to blame the Arabs after 9/11? In the UK and the US they have more success by integrating the immigrants, but they do as well experience the same problems with the immigration of Arabs. I believe that it is a result of the huge media covering of the terror situation in the world. And as long as the media are exhibiting people from the Middle East as terrorists there will be a general negative opinion about the Arab people, and therefore the accepting of the people from Arabian will be difficult. The problem with the immigrants is the missing integration of them in the society. But the Danes cannot be blamed for this, because the immigrants are trans national.
