Criminal Defense Lawyer
Regardless of where you live, everyone knows that criminal offenses are no joke and come with weighty penalties if one is found
guilty. These might include lengthy jail terms, heavy fines or a combination of the two; it all depends on the nature of the charges. A
good criminal defense lawyer will fight by your side and do everything imaginable to ensure that you do not have to face harsh
penalties. Furthermore they can prevent criminal charges from making an appearance on your criminal record. This very important
element goes a long way in protecting your reputation and credibility whiling ensuring that you do not harm your future chances of
being employed.
A good criminal defense lawyer comes in handy when charged with a crime, whether or not the charge is serious, as even minor
charges can have negative affects on your living conditions. Do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means they will make better and more compelling arguments in their attempt to persuade the judge to make a favorable ruling.
Secondly, a lawyer who combines good presence and respect in the courts is preferable to a criminal defense attorney who has one of
the two qualities. This is for the simple reason that the more respect an attorney has in a court, the better his or her chances of
negotiating with the judge (to rule on critical motions in your favor) will be. Thirdly, experience is key. Always go for a lawyer who
has many years of experience. The more experienced your criminal defense attorney has, the more suited they will be at analyzing
your case. It is especially true if you are charged with a serious crime like vehicular manslaughter. They are also likely to understand
your case better and faster than an attorney who is fresh at the bar. This is because they are more likely to have come across the same

INTERNATIONAL CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND STRATEGY

An Introduction to the Golden Parachute
When we talk about executive compensation, one topic that never fails to come up is the Golden
Parachute. The Golden Parachute, as the name suggest is an executive safety net of sorts that is included in the employment contracts
of senior level executives. Basically it is a special payment usually a lump sum amounting to millions, that is paid in the event of a
change in control of the company1. The reasons for the implementation of the Golden Parachute is something that has been constantly
debated, but the most common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That could occur if a company chooses to adopt the Golden Parachute
Alignment of Management Shareholder Interest
As mentioned at the beginning of this paper, one of the main objectives of the Golden Parachute is to control the behaviour of
management in a acquisition event. During a acquisition event, the bidding company or the acquirer would often bypass the executives
and the management and go straight to the shareholders, offering a premium over the current trading share price, which can be seen as
a increase to shareholder wealth5. However, often times once the acquiring company gains control, the acquired company s
management is usually either sidelined or dismissed from the company. That being the case, there inherently exist a conflict between
the interest of the management (to preserve their source of income) and the interest of shareholders (to maximise wealth).
Management as has been well established in the corporate world has the duty to act in a way that is in the interest of the shareholders,
and often this involves making decisions that maximise shareholder wealth. However, in light of the prospect of losing their jobs after
a acquisition, management might not act in the best interest of the shareholders and oppose the acquisition in order to maintain

Immigration And Mexican Immigration
INTRODUCTION Due to their proximity, the United States and Mexico have a particularly unique relationship. Relations between
the two nations often tend to be problematic due to controversial the issues they associate with, such as immigration and
undocumented immigration into the U.S. because of the uncertainty of its overall effects on the nation. However, the push and pull
factors that attribute to the desire of migrating to the U.S. are often too intense to resist, and thus Mexican immigrants are the most
prominent demographic to migrate the U.S., making up half of the estimated 11.4 million undocumented immigrants residing in the
U.S. are Latino or of Mexican origin (Siemons, 2016). Due to the circumstances in which migrants are influenced to leave their
country of origin, it is imperative to understand the complexity of the process of migration and how it can be a life altering experience,
and can greatly affect the psyche of an individual. Previous research has shown that migrant youth are often driven by the higher
wages in the U.S., which gives them the security and opportunity to build a better life (Tucker, et al., 2012). However, there is not
much information available as to how these individuals adapt to their new surroundings. Not only is a person choosing to leave all that
they know in order to seek a better life, they must also adapt to life in a completely different social structure and cultural practices. For
instance, recent studies have focused on the

The Effect of Life Expectancy in the Current Century The life expectancy has improved over the past century, due to advances in
preventative care and control of infectious diseases, better and more reliable nutrition, housing, hygiene, and medical care. For
instance, advances in medical technology in relation to such treatment of heart disease and stroke, as well as living healthier lifestyles,
improvements in access to health care, and better overall health before age 65, resulted in continued improvements in life expectancy
throughout the second half of the 20th century. Although life expectancy increased from 49 to 80 years due to life and health

According to the Functionalist Theory, there are a number of gender inequalities that women face, which are a product of traditional
divisions in society. More specifically, for centuries men have been known to attend to objectively rewarded tasks such as wage
earning, while women attended to more subjectively rewarded tasks such as child rearing. Although both types of labor are vital for
society s survival, the tasks performed by men have always been more highly rewarded. From childhood, men and women are taught
these traditional roles and have conformed to them. Functionalist Theorists explain that gender roles and their inequalities have
changed somewhat in industrialized societies, however, the traditional arrangement remains in force in most societies. It is these
inequalities that have led to population problems between men and women such as the rape of women and violence against women. In
fact, women between the ages of 15 to 44 suffer more deaths from domestic violence than cancer, malaria, and road traffic. Also, there
are some main differences in the types of health issues that men and women face that shows then gender disparities in developed
countries. For example, women have the added issues of maternal mortality rates that indicate that more than one woman dies every
minute of every day due to preventable complications of pregnancy, childbirth or unsafe abortion. Other hand, men s more risky

Teen Pregnancy Essay
Pregnancies are a wonderful thing. Just imagine being able to create another human being and bringing it into the world. Although this
may be what the majority of mothers think, teen moms may have a different perspective. They might have been forced into pregnancy
and the child may be a reoccurring thought of what happened to her. Chances are the teen will love her baby in the long run, but in the
beginning the teen most likely had different views. Teen pregnancy is a worldwide problem that needs to be educated properly. The
reason why most teen pregnancies occur because teens aren t educated enough. Granted they might become curious or they don t care,

Generally when a teen has a baby, society tends to make her seem like a monster, and that whatever happened to cause this. She gets
shunned and pushed into a dark place where she may not be capable to provide the best care for herself or her baby. The duo may be
ignored by their family and friends, causing them to feel very isolated and alone, which could potentially lead to things such as
insanity, other mental health issues, or the worst case possible, death.
Unfortunately, if the teen gets to the point where she feels like there s no other option, she will most likely turn to drugs and alcohol,
making her situation even worse for herself and those around her. If drugs or alcohol were involved before the teen knew she became
pregnant, medical complications to her or the baby are very likely. The teen has to stop drinking, or doing any type of drugs
immediately if she wants to keep her and her baby safe. If the mother gets hurt in anyway while she is pregnant, she can potentially
hurt and/or kill her baby. Birth deformities are common in mothers who choose to not have a healthy lifestyle. Teen moms are more
likely to have their babies born early, have miscarriages, and underweight babies. This will lead to the need of more medical attention,
which leads to more money. If the teen mother does not have any help from parents, family, or friends, she will most likely not be able
to pay for it and could cause harmful things to occur to her

Question 1 In the framework of the management research question hierarchy following steps can be developed to solve current
dilemma (Cooper amp; Schindler, 2006): * Dilemma: use of publication reader service cards has been gradually declining which
questioned efficiency of its advertisements to provide necessary information. * Research questions: conducing a research study about
efficiency of reader service cards use would be a reasonable action that are available for taking advantage in the situation. *
Investigation questions: in order for a manager to decide about further use of reader service cards, evaluation of all methods should be

Therefore, based on this information appropriate original sample sizes were selected. On the negative side, even after pilot studies,
questionnaires contained certain limitations, including lack of details about expected outcomes of the study, better structure of
questions, etc. Question 6 In order to digitize collected data and make it in the convenient form that can be used in the statistical
analysis the data has to be coded appropriately. The most suitable way to code the data would be assigning numerical values to the
options of answers in the multiple choice questions. Since there is a possibility of more than one answer to every question, then it
would be right to construct number of variables equal to the number of options to questions 1 4 and 7. These variables will contain 2
numeric values, one will correspond to the case when respondent marked this option and another will indicate he didn t mark this
option. Variable corresponding to questions like 5a, 6, and 8 11) will contain different numeric characteristics, each corresponding to
the available option. Finally, answers from the open question 5b will be directly digitized to the answer sheet. Hence, the data in this
form can be easily analyzed with the help of statistical software. Question 7 Given that manager is interested in the efficiency of
reader service cards, then research report should set its focus on this issue. The only reported finding of the survey

My Writing Course Analysis
I grew up in a extremely small town outside of Birmingham, and the high school I went to is not known for its academia. If I recall
right, my high school english classes assigned only 1 2 papers a year, so writing 4 5 in a semester was a completely new adventure for
me. I learned many things in this course that greatly helped me improve my writing. My writing overall improved in style, flow, and
basic fundamental writing thought processes, which is all the areas that are hard to learn. I started to see my style and flow had grown
bland and very fact based instead of grabbing the attention of the readers. Now that I understand where my writing needs
improvement, I can start focusing on those areas and fixing my papers.
One of my weaknesses in my writing is that I tend to have a one track mind . Once I have an idea about how to word something or
organize an essay, I tend to only see it from that perspective, even if it s not the most optimal way to convey my arguments. This class
helped me think outside of the box and learn to organize things like I would not normally do, this included how I would analyze texts
or synthesize ideas. The in class activities helped me learn to be creative, the class readings gave me examples on how to organize that

Although the most subjective and probably the hardest of our assignments, the argument proposal was easier for me to write about
since I was generally curious about the topic. Writing an argumentative essay can help students improve their writing, develop their
critical thinking skills, and also learn how to perform research. One of my weaknesses with my argument proposal was relying too
much on evidence and synthesizing ideas instead of generating my own or making a definite stance, instead of trying new ways to be
creative and capture the attention of the

Stand And Deliver Movie Citation
Stand and Deliver: Movie about an Educational Setting
In order to complete this assignment, I decided to focus on the educational setting of the film Stand and Deliver . Stand and Deliver
took place in the year 1987 and was focused on demonstrating the life challenges that students faced in the city of East Los Angeles
California. This movie is based on the true story of a mathematics teacher who motivated high school students at Garfield High School
to learn about calculus. Additionally, this film will identify the context, norms, values, language, gender roles and the social structures
of the movie.
In this film, Garfield high school is located in a poor neighborhood in East Los Angeles. The movie portrayed this neighborhood as a
location that was surrounded by violence, fights, and crimes. Every night it was very common for the residents living in this
neighborhood to witness fights among gang members, and hear shootings and ambulance sirens. The majority of people who lived in

complete chores. As a result, the female students believed that completing an education was not important because their role was to

their families. For many male students, their role was to work hard at their jobs in order to help their parents pay for rent and

The Code Of Conduct And How The Corporate Governance Is...

corporate governance is respected and modified. This will define the principles of a code of conduct per the module and the code of
conduct for General Electric will be defined on how GE delivers its code of conduct and how it is either modified or updated

No matter how high the stakes, no matter how great the challenge, GE will do business only by lawful and ethical means. When
working with customers and Suppliers in every aspect of our business, we will not compromise our commitment to integrity. (General
Electric Compliance Resource, 2009).
General Electric has the bullet points from above on every business divisions website and the Code of Conduct for GE in consistent
for all their employees. In other words, no adjusted codes based on various countries throughout the world. This also brings one to
believe that employees will sign the agreement and be held accountable at all levels of the organization as well. It would seem that it
does not allow special privilege as an option to opt out of participating and adhering to their code of conduct. Supposing one would
want to opt out, it would be making a statement that they do not agree and therefore cannot work for General Electric. There are other
codes of conduct for suppliers and vendors of multinational corporations. GE has various codes of conduct in place for these.
According to Multinational Management: A Strategic Approach:
General Electric has their code of conduct policies ranked sixth in the world for the Fortune 500 companies to work for.

The Texas Revolution Essay
The Texas Revolution
By Jessica Bouillon
Texas History
The Texas Revolution was a key point in our nation s history and in the history of the state of Texas. For, if Texas had not revolted the
way that they did, it would probably not have become a state. There are many causes that are speculated on why Texas revolted
whether they are political disputes against the Centralist party in Mexico that had primary control at the time of the Revolution. These
and more will be explored. Also, there are key battles in the Texas Revolution that decided the final fate of Texas, none more famous
than the famous Battle of San Jacinto and The Alamo.
The most popular, speculated cause of the Texas Revolution is that Texas was following in the ... Show more content on

Still another speculated cause for the revolution in Texas was economics. There were many land speculators that were also U.S.
migrants to Texas that were intent on making money from selling land. They had speculators in Texas, and Coahuila and financial
centers in New York and Philadelphia. The speculators would speculate how much a piece of land was worth then sell it and turn the
profits over to a financial center and make a tremendous profit from it.
Yet another reason why Texans might have revolted was that they were trying to preserve and maintain the political values and
economic gain while under the Constitution of 1824. It gave Texas a steady population flow of American migrants moving onto Texas
soil. It also gave them political liberty, freedom to own slaves and a steady economic progression. But Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna,
president of Mexico, wished to impose a stricter rule which could also explain why Texas felt the need to separate from Mexico.
Another speculated cause was that the Anglo Americans that lived there refused to conform to the Mexican rules and laws. Most were
protestant and therefore refused to convert to Catholicism. They also refused to pay their duties to the government and did not support

What Is Wendy Kop s Senior Thesis
More than 16 million children grow up in poverty. One in three of those kids will not graduate high school. From the kids who do
graduate 18% won t be able to attend four years of college. Knowing those statistics and how they affected children all around the
U.S. Wendy Kopp wanted to change those statistics. Wendy Kopp was born in Austin, Texas on June 29th, 1867. Wendy Kopp
believed that it was the responsibility of everyone to stop children from being uneducated. As Wendy grew up she felt that since she
was a woman there would be limits but as the years passed by she learned she wasn t limited. She attended Princeton as a public
policy major and was involved in many activities. She met a variety of people during her college years and learned more about
students who come from poor communities and found that they have lower academic achievement because they were less prepared for
the challenges ahead.
Wendy eventually used this same idea in her senior thesis. So, for her senior thesis she proposed that they should assign graduates
from the nation s top universities to teach in disadvantaged communities. Wendy used her senior thesis to move to an office space in
New York and gather teacher corps. Gathering enough support, Wendy eventually grew her organization and called it Teach For

What I Learned New Imagery And Pedagogies Into My Dance...
I initially took Jazz III because it is required for my dance minor; I also hoped to gain a better understanding of the Jazz Technique.
Throughout this course I achieved the goals that I set at the beginning of the semester. My goals were to be very confident doing
double pirouettes and comfortable doing triple pirouettes. I also wanted to focus on being a more conscious turner and dancer. I
pushed myself to break my habit of just going for pirouette and hoped that it all worked out. Each class I learned new imagery and
pedagogies that have been extremely beneficial to my dance career. A few images and pedagogies that resonated were the idea of my
pelvis being an elevator, taking my pelvis with me, especially when doing battement s, and understanding the placement of a turned in
passé. I have already taken and applied the goals, imagery, and pedagogies into my dance career. At first, I was concerned with such
varied levels but throughout the course I felt challenged in the Jazz III/I class. Jazz III is required for dance minors to complete. I was
excited to take this course because I wanted to expand my Jazz Technique. Throughout the course I have learned a lot about the Jazz
Technique and Vernacular. Before this course I had never done a grand píle in parallel. I also learned how to do turns from second
position, which was new to me. This course made me feel more comfortable performing and having fun with Jazz Dance. In the past, I
have felt timid performing Jazz

Why Teenagers Should Start Later Essay
Imagine this, it s 10:30 p.m. and you are walking down the street when a cop approaches you. The next thing you know you re in big
trouble for being on the streets after 10:00 p.m. Don t like the sound of that do you? My city council is considering a curfew that
would make it illegal for teenagers to be out on the streets after 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and after midnight on weekends. I disagree
with this consideration because teenagers may have to work late, they could be in danger, or there could be an emergency.
First of all, some teenagers end up working late at night and can t help that. Working night shift causes teenagers to get home late.
Most teenagers don t have a car, so they walk to and from work. If there is a curfew it will get the

This article provided new information about Marian reliefs that I had never considered, before. In Johnson s writing, she describes the
role of Marian relief sculptures in fifteenth century Italy. The most interesting aspects of these sculptures was the role they played in
worship and marital rituals. In this essay, I will discuss Johnson s writings about the necessity of naturalistic sculptures and Marian
reliefs part in these rituals. As described by Johnson, Italian s increasingly strong urge to become more in tuned with God and Jesus
Christ became apparent through the sculpted reliefs that were created for public and private worship. This need resulted in a more
naturalistic approach to statues that concerned the Madonna and

The Application Of Quantitative, Quantitative And Mixed...
Abstract
The primary goal of this study is to systematize the knowledge about different research methodological approaches applied in high
ranked academic journals in the area of Business Management. The essay will examine the application of qualitative, quantitative and
mixed research methods in journals, assess their usefulness and present the results of the analysis. An examination of research
methods and research design will identify trends in research methodologies employed in journals and try to explain the reason of its
application in academic papers.
Key words: qualitative research, quantitative research, mixed method research, methodology
Introduction
Defining a case study method indicates the problem and entails finding a solution to solve it. However, to answer the research
questions it is vital to demonstrate deep consideration of the elements related to particular research design, and to show the ability to
reflect upon research philosophy and approach to theory (Easterby Smith et al., 2012; Eisendhardt, 1989).
In business and management research a regular investigation not only leads to solving business problems, but also contributes to
management knowledge (Edmondson and McManus, 2016). There are different methods solutions as well as various ways of
conducting them. Based on the literature review, we can distinguish qualitative, quantitative and mixed research methodological
approaches. Despite the fact that the quantitative method based their theory on

Developing A Human Resource Strategy For Effective Job...
Conceptual Framework
According to Bono and Judge (2003) there is no single approach to developing a human resource strategy for effective job
performance. As a matter of fact, the specific approach will vary from organization to organization. Even so, the literature reviewed so
far and a consideration of the organizational culture that pertains in the National Commission for Civic Education makes the model
presented below an excellent approach. This conceptual model identifies six specific steps in developing an effective human resource
strategy:
a) Setting the strategic direction
b) Designing the human resource management system
c) Planning the total workforce
d) Generating the required human resources
e) Investing in human resource development and performance
f) Assessing and sustaining organizational competence and performance Strategic direction
Strategic direction basically looks at the direction and outcomes that the organization seeks to achieve. It entails detailing out the
overall policy framework of the organization (NCCE) with regards to its human resources. In setting these strategies key questions
such us;
1. What the current strategy of the organization is.
2. How to achieve sufficiency and attain organisational goals in line with the set direction of its human resource strategies needs to be
factored in setting the strategy direction.
Furthermore, particular attention must be given to social, economic, legislative, and technological and most importantly

The Theory Of Plate Tectonics And Continental Drift
The concept of plate tectonics is that the lithosphere, which is the higher layers of the Earth s surface, is separated into a number of
plates that float independently over the mantle and along the boundaries that initiate the development of new crust, the building of
mountains, and the seismic movement that triggers earthquakes (Geosystems 340). Scientists have discovered that the landforms and
geographic regions we know and live on today were formed when plate tectonics shift and create movement on the Earth, forming
many land structures. In 1977 two scientists created the most elaborate and detailed picture of the earth that has ever been designed,
called the Tharp Heezen map of the seafloor (National Geographic, PT). Because of this map, the theory of plate tectonics and
continental drift was accepted widely across the world and still known today.
A German geophysicist, Alfred Wegener, presented an idea in his book Origin of the Continents and Oceans, evoking the topic of
continental drift, which is the gradual movement of the continents across the earth s surface through geological time. He named the
large supercontinent Pangaea , meaning all Earth (Geosystems 340). The two types of tectonic plates are the oceanic and continental
plates. The plate s shift and slide over the asthenosphere, the molten upper portion of the mantle. The two types of plates meet at the
boundaries that cross our planet and since 71% of the earth covered in water the majority of the

College Is A Great Feeder School For Brigham Young University
University or Community College.
Ever since I can remember my parents told me that college was key to being successful in life. If you didn t attend a good college your
life was most likely not going to be a very happy one. This message has stayed with me throughout my life , education was of great
importance and college was the key factor of where you ended up in life. High school counselors, teachers, parents, and mentors all
emphasized that the better the college you attend the more opportunities you ll have. When I was a high school senior and had to think
seriously about the future, I applied for many schools and landed at Utah Valley University, a great feeder school for Brigham Young
University. I attended Utah Valley University for 1 semester, following Utah Valley I attend a community college instead, Coastline
Community College. I have so far been enrolled at coastline for about a month and can see the likenesses and the differences between
the university life and the community college life. I can see no college is alike, and that doesn t mean one college is better than
another. It took transferring to a community college to see that not even a university is better than a community college.
Utah Valley University and Coastline Community College, weren t the same type of college, but actually had quite a bit of similarities
in many aspects. One of these very noticeable aspects, is the teaching staff at the colleges. Both of the colleges had teachers that

In China, Why Piracy Is Here To Stay Introduction:
The focus of this article is to address about the digital piracy problem happening in China. The problem of Piracy exists ever since the
birth of copyright law. Never the less most of the countries do have certain amount of digital piracy problem going on. Piracy cannot
be easily controlled, hence comes the copyright laws and digital piracy law into action.
Summary:
China is largest and developed country in the world and where piracy prevails since very long and still to continue. Before it was in
the form of material copying and today it exists as digital copying. Therefore, there is a strong call for a more powerful copyright
protection. Piracy is a serious ethical problem in China. China is getting more concern on the piracy now than the past. Piracy is an
illegal duplication and distribution and selling of copies of the materials copyrighted, without the permission by law ( Digital piracy,
2011). Today, the term is universal and is used not only in relation to books but also for music, movies, software, pharmaceuticals and
inventions as well as other intellectual properties.( Adrian Johns, 2011),
China has more complexity than other countries with its distinctive cultural, political and social conditions. The piracy problem is
hence complex and difficult to predict in China. As the second largest economic entity in the world, its national legislation and

Environment and Root Cause Analysis Navistar considered quality and on time delivery as a priority that came before costs; therefore,
top management as well as initiatives to improve processes and on time delivery supported various improvement initiatives to quality
programs. Andy is an assembly supervisor but had very broad job responsibilities. Andy s time was taken up in areas such as supplier
quality evaluations, internal process documentation, process improvement, and much more. His focus was very widespread and his
day was drawn away from scheduled and unscheduled meetings; this position required long hours and weekend work. In addition to
the quality issues, truck interior trim shortages was another challenge, which resulted in reordering of trim parts leading to additional
material handling, and post assembly installation. These delayed parts required overtime that increased cost and delayed delivery of
the finished truck of the customer. Issues came from both Navistar and their supplier Trimco. Navistar had design changes such as
different sizes, repositioning of mechanisms and other various designer and material changes; however, these changes to the truck
interiors were not communicated to Trimco before production runs were completed. As a result, parts were shipped with different
specifications than those needed for proper fit during assembly. Due to the lack of coordination and communication,

The Sumarians Essay
Sumarians, an ancient group of people who lived in southern Mesopotamia around 3500 BC, are attributed with the very first attempts
to transcribe symbols onto moveable materials. The Sumarians developed a cuneiform alphabet, which were then etched into clay
tablets with a triangle shaped stylus called a calamus and then allowed to dry or fired in a kiln to make them last as long as possible.
The Sumarians are speculated to be the earliest people to ever use the first known written system in the world. The earliest surviving
Papyrus scrolls that contain written text originate in Egypt and date back to around 2400 BC during the Fifth Dynasty of King
Neferirkare Kakai, although historians have suggested papyrus could have been used as early as 3100 BC during the First Dynasty.
Papyrus is a very thick paper like material that is made from the pith , center of the stem, of the papyrus plant, a reed like swamp plant
that used to be found in abundance along the Nile river. This pith was cut into thin strips, pressed together, and then glued and dried to
form a thin flat surface that could be written on. A calamus, like the Sumarians used, was cut from the stem of a reed and then
sharpened to form a writing utensil, but bird feathers were also used. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Advantages Of Langston Hughes
1. The African American Dream: Let America be America again. Let it be the dream it used to be. (Hughes, New Song 9) According to
the Declaration of Independence proclaimed in 1776 the democracy of the United States rests upon the fundamentals of freedom,
equality and the pursuit of happiness. Imparting the precept that all men are created equal , the American Dream emerges. Often being
described as a national ethos, it is spreading the belief that anyone has the opportunity for prosperity and success, regardless of race or
social class. The Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 emphasises these beliefs and promises everlasting freedom. Despite the official
equalisation, especially African Americans could not avail themselves of their rights, still facing severe restrictions and isolation in
everyday life. At the beginning of the 20th century the desire for freedom and self representation among the African American
community grows and culminates in the Harlem Renaissance a cultural and intellectual movement, celebrating the African origin and
developing a new black self confidence known as the New Negro . As one of the most important literary figures of this movement

Oil in Alaska
When oil was discovered on the north slope of Alaska, congress was faced with another Indian problem. Just how was it going to send
an 800 mile pipeline right through the middle of Indigenous lands successfully without completely ignoring Native rights? ANCSA
was the answer to that question. In 1971, due to ANCSA, 100 shares were given to every Alaska Native that could prove they had a
quarter blood of Alaska Native heritage and lived in a local traditional Alaskan native village. These shares were considered payment
for the pipeline. However they did not take on the form of money like most lands do. These land shares could not be traded or sold.
They could only be handed down through inheritance. The federal government also put a requirement on the ANCSA formed
corporations which were to turn a profit. This was a way for the federal government to ensure economic advance. The way the federal
government would ensure this is, if the ANCSA formed corporation could not turn a profit, the federal government could go in and
seize the land and dismantle the corporation for breaching their duty to profit the land. Not only was this a way of ensuring economic
advance but it was another way the federal government could gain land. Because of these steep requirements some native lands have
been seized by the federal government, and those who have not already been lost have either gone bankrupt or merged with other
ANCSA corporations to keep their land. Other native corporations have

Catalase on Hydrogen Peroxide Essay
Abstract
The aim of this study was to test the rate of reactivity of the enzyme catalase on hydrogen peroxide while subject to different
concentrations of an inhibitor. The hypothesis was that hydrogen peroxide will be broken down by catalase into hydrogen and oxygen,
where a higher concentration of inhibitor will yield less oxygen, resultant of a lower rate of reaction. Crushed potato samples of equal
weight were placed in hydrogen peroxide solutions of various temperatures. The results showed that less gas was produced as the
concentration of the inhibitor rose. This Is because more enzymes were inhibited, and so less active sites were available for reaction.

Hypothesis:
Catalase will break down hydrogen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Planning I will be studying the rate of catalase activity on hydrogen peroxide while varying the amount of inhibition, which should
influence the rate of the reaction, and thus the amount of oxygen, observed in a given time. The concentration of the inhibitor will
therefore be the independent variable, while the amount of oxygen will be the dependent variable. There should a smaller volume of
oxygen observed as the concentration of the enzyme increases. As I am comparing two variables to each other, it would be wise to
calculate the correlation of the two variables. To calculate the correlation, I should use Spearman s rank correlation coefficient. To find
a suitable correlation, I should use at least 8 samples. After plotting a scattergraph, I will proceed to find out the correlation if the
correlation looks reasonable enough. Variables Temperature: Temperature is an extremely important variable to consider, as it can
affect the rate of reaction in a number of ways. If the temperature of a system is increased, more molecules will reach the activation
energy and the rate of reaction will increase. The number of collisions will also increase. As enzymes must collide with substrates, an
increase in temperature and thus kinetic energy will result in more collisions occurring in a given time. Increasing the temperature will
also increase the heat of the molecules.

sixth of February 1840 by 43 Northland chiefs and Lieutenant Governor Hobson. The Treaty recognized Maori people occupied New
Zealand prior to British. The Treaty of Waitangi allowed the Crown to set up a government to establish laws, and recognised that
Māori people owned their lands and other properties. The immigrants (British citizens) could come and live here in peace. Meanwhile,
Maori gained the some rights as British citizens. At the signing of the treaty got around constraints in both British and Maori , but in a

Essentially the Treaty was an attempt to establish a system of property rights for land with the Crown controlling and overseeing land
sale, to prevent abuse.
Initially this worked well. Māori were eager to sell land, and settlers eager to buy. The Crown mediated the process to ensure that the
true owners were properly identified (difficult for tribally owned land) and fairly compensated, by the standards of the time. However
after a while Māori became disillusioned and less willing to

make in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The company grew rapidly during the 1950s and 1960s due to its strong brand name and near monopoly share of the consumer and
professional power tools markets. This monopoly was based on Black Decker s pioneering development ofhandheld power tools. It
was during this period that Black Decker expanded rapidly in international markets, typically by serting up wholly owned subsidiaries
in a nation and giving them the tight to develop, manufacture, and market the company s power tools. As a result, by the early 1980s,
the company had 23 wholly owned subsidiaries in foreign nations and rwo joint ventures. During its period of rapid international
expansion, Blade Decker operated with a decentralized organization. In its 1979 annual report, the company described how In order to
be effective in the markerplace, Black Decker follows a decentralized organizational approach. All business functions (marketing,
engineering, manufacturing, etc.) are kept as close as possible to the market to be served. In effect, each wholly owned subsidiary was

corporate management was likely to leave it alone. By the 1990s, however, it was clear that this change had not gone far enough. The
rise of powerful retailers such as Home Depot and Lowe s in the United States had further pressured prices in the power tools market,
Blacker Decker responded by looking for ways to gamer additional manufacturing

Old Spice Ad
Smell like a Man, Man
For years Old Spice has been the immediate brand that comes to mind when anyone mentions a manly fragrance. The first
advertisement is a poster created by Old Spice that shows a man in the bathtub with bubbles on him depicting a lumberjack. The
second image shows a nerdy guy that is revealed to be a rock star deep down. Both of these advertisements were produced by Old
Spice to promote one of their products called After Hours body wash. Old Spice has found the ability to make every man wish that he
were something better by using appeals to men s want for women and manliness. Deep down, underneath that soft outer shell, is a
strong man that is released with just the use of an Old Spice product.
Old Spice attempts to connect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first poster displays the main character with far less details than the second poster. While the first mainly focuses on the main
character having a vague resemblance to a lumberjack, the second shows a highly detailed outer and inner character. Giving the
audience a more vague view of the character allows for a more personal understanding of what the advertisement is portraying;
whereas, displaying the character with more details and features shows a more specified character that could help the audience further
understand the connection between the nerdy guy and his tough inner self. The more intricate details of the second poster show that
the nerdy guy on the outside, is simply a man with little talent compared to his inner rock star self. His inner self is shown to be
playing a two guitars and a saxophone all at the same time portraying his more advanced skills. He has the ability to do what the nerdy
guy wishes he could do but can t. The bikini top jumps at the fact that the rock star does well with women, something that the nerdy
guy could never accomplish himself without the help of the Old Spice body wash. These differences reiterate the main character s
need for the body wash because it allows them to be what they always wanted to be. Another aspect of both advertisements is that
there are visuals that act on text contained in them.
The word man is contained in

Large Events Of Philadelphia
Liabilities of Large Events
Philadelphia consistently ranks among one of the most popular cities in the United States, both in terms of visitation and in terms of
global recognition. This ranking is driven by prominent events in the past, and 2016 will be no different. Events such as the papal visit
and the democratic nomination convention will inevitably influence Philadelphia s economy, and it has long been an accepted notion
that these events cause a positive impact. However, recent studies have begun to erode this misconception. The disastrous papal visit
proved the economic harm of large scale events, and in events such as the upcoming Democratic national convention, Philadelphia
shouldn t expect any significant economic windfall. The large influx of tourists coming to city for large events repels local citizens
who consume from local businesses, resulting in local businesses being forced to fall behind schedule.
The Papal visit was projected to generate 400 million dollars for the city, but instead exemplifies the way in which super events can go
awry (Debree 2). Pope Francis visited the city of Philadelphia from September 26th through the 27th, and predictably paranoia
ensued. Hundreds of thousands of people flooded the city for the opportunity to watch the pope speak. The damage was assessed
weeks later. City controller Alan Butkovitz published an analysis in October of 2015 detailing the Papal visit s economic impact and
his conclusions were undeniably grim.

Army Leadership Definition
Too often the Army seeks to solve dynamic issues through management processes while underutilizing leadership. The Army is prone
to this in part because it does not distinguish between leadership and management in doctrine or practice. There has been an ongoing
debate in Military review as to the relationship between command, leadership and management. In the Army, leadership and
management merge into one concept. As leadership is doctrinally conceptualized in managerial terms, it limits the scope of personal
power. It is difficult, if not impossible, to conduct management functions that stretch outside the bounds of a given authority.
Management is important and necessary; however, leadership initiates effective and lasting change in our Soldiers. The Army s
definition of leadership is the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation (ADP 6 22, 2012).
However, the Army s, Army Doctrinal Reference Publication (ADRP) 1 02 does not include a doctrinal definition for management nor
is there a definition in the Joint Publication 1 02. Merriam Webster defines management as the act or art conducting or supervising

I was a Field Artillery Section Chief, now put in charge of 14 Soldiers, two HUMVEEs, and a M105 MM Towed Howitzer. I was
eager to take on the challenge of leading my Soldiers. In the Artillery world, there is a muzzle cover that the Top Gun section gets, this
award visualizes to the rest of the battalion who the best gun crew is. That soon became my goal as a Section Chief. For months, I
practiced with my gun crew, I would watch videos, and read our doctrine to ensure that I was leading my section down the path of
victory. It took my section almost a year and a half to accomplish this collective goal of ours, and it was a prideful day when it

have to find that passion in writing. You have to keep the fire burning. But the ultimate question is, how?

4. Set deadlines and make sure to implement it
Many of us have difficulties in setting deadlines and keeping it (especially when no one supervises you in meeting those). If that s the
case, why not try looking for a partner who can help you with that?
When you find one, ask one another to hold each other s deadline in a healthy and a beneficial way. Keeping in mind that someone is
expecting an output for a particular day or time can fuel the passion inside you. But don t misunderstand it, this is good pressure.
One good way is to enroll yourself in a writing class or join a group of writers. There, aside from learning something from your
colleagues, you will also help each other in attaining your goals and fulfilling your

Essay On Space Race
When people talk about the events in the space race, the first thing they often talk about is Neil Armstrong being the first man to walk
on the moon. While Neil Armstrong played a big part in the race to the moon, there are many other people who contributed to the
great space race. Many people do not know who the major people involved in the space race were, what the race was trying to
accomplish, why it happened, and when this historical event took place in American history.
Dwight D. Eisenhower was the president who founded the space program, also known as NASA (National Aeronautics and Space
Administration.) The whole goal of NASA was to gain information and fix the problems with flight within our atmosphere and outside
of our atmosphere (https://history.nasa.gov/factsheet.mht). There was also another reason why NASA was created, for military and
defense against enemies (https://history.nasa.gov/factsheet.mht). America s biggest enemy at the time was the Soviet Union lead by
Nikita Khrushchev. Shortly after Eisenhower founded the space program, John F. Kennedy took over as president. President Kennedy
met with Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev on June fourth, 1961 to see if the Soviet Union wanted to work together in achieving their
common goal of sending a man to the moon. Khrushchev denied Kennedy s offer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This very important element goes a long way in protecting your reputation and credibility whiling ensuring that you do not harm your future chances of being employed. Secondly, a lawyer who combines good presence and respect in the courts is preferable to a criminal defense attorney who has one of the two qualities. This is for the simple reason that the more respect an attorney has in a court, the better his or her chances of negotiating with the judge (to rule on critical motions in your favor) will be. Thirdly, experience is key. Always go for a lawyer who has many years of experience. The more experienced your criminal defense attorney has, the more suited they will be at analyzing your case. The Golden Parachute MGMT 322 G1 INTERNATIONAL CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND STRATEGY THE GOLDEN PARACHUTE Prepared for: Professor Toru Yoshikawa By: Matthew Lim Zhi Liang S9118245I An Introduction to the Golden Parachute When we talk about executive compensation, one topic that never fails to come up is the Golden Parachute. The Golden Parachute, as the name suggest is an executive safety net of sorts that is included in the employment contracts of senior level executives. Basically it is a special payment usually a lump sum amounting to millions, that is paid in the event of a change in control of the company1. The reasons for the implementation of the Golden Parachute is something that has been constantly debated, but the most common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That could occur if a company chooses to adopt the Golden Parachute Alignment of Management Shareholder Interest As mentioned at the beginning of this paper, one of the main objectives of the Golden Parachute is to control the behaviour of management in a acquisition event. During a acquisition event, the bidding company or the acquirer would often bypass the executives and the management and go straight to the shareholders, offering a premium over the current trading share price, which can be seen as a increase to shareholder wealth5. However, often times once the acquiring company gains control, the acquired company s management is usually either sidelined or dismissed from the company. That being the case, there inherently exist a conflict between the interest of the management (to preserve their source of income) and the interest of shareholders (to maximise wealth). Management as has been well established in the corporate world has the duty to act in a way that is in the interest of the shareholders, and often this involves making decisions that maximise shareholder wealth. However, in light of the prospect of losing their jobs after a acquisition, management might not act in the best interest of the shareholders and oppose the acquisition in order to maintain ... • 4. Immigration And Mexican Immigration INTRODUCTION Due to their proximity, the United States and Mexico have a particularly unique relationship. Relations between the two nations often tend to be problematic due to controversial the issues they associate with, such as immigration and undocumented immigration into the U.S. because of the uncertainty of its overall effects on the nation. However, the push and pull factors that attribute to the desire of migrating to the U.S. are often too intense to resist, and thus Mexican immigrants are the most prominent demographic to migrate the U.S., making up half of the estimated 11.4 million undocumented immigrants residing in the U.S. are Latino or of Mexican origin (Siemons, 2016). Due to the circumstances in which migrants are influenced to leave their country of origin, it is imperative to understand the complexity of the process of migration and how it can be a life altering experience, and can greatly affect the psyche of an individual. Previous research has shown that migrant youth are often driven by the higher wages in the U.S., which gives them the security and opportunity to build a better life (Tucker, et al., 2012). However, there is not much information available as to how these individuals adapt to their new surroundings. Not only is a person choosing to leave all that they know in order to seek a better life, they must also adapt to life in a completely different social structure and cultural practices. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the Functionalist Theory, there are a number of gender inequalities that women face, which are a product of traditional divisions in society. More specifically, for centuries men have been known to attend to objectively rewarded tasks such as wage earning, while women attended to more subjectively rewarded tasks such as child rearing. Although both types of labor are vital for society s survival, the tasks performed by men have always been more highly rewarded. From childhood, men and women are taught these traditional roles and have conformed to them. Functionalist Theorists explain that gender roles and their inequalities have changed somewhat in industrialized societies, however, the traditional arrangement remains in force in most societies. It is these inequalities that have led to population problems between men and women such as the rape of women and violence against women. In fact, women between the ages of 15 to 44 suffer more deaths from domestic violence than cancer, malaria, and road traffic. Also, there are some main differences in the types of health issues that men and women face that shows then gender disparities in developed countries. Generally when a teen has a baby, society tends to make her seem like a monster, and that whatever happened to cause this. She gets shunned and pushed into a dark place where she may not be capable to provide the best care for herself or her baby. The duo may be ignored by their family and friends, causing them to feel very isolated and alone, which could potentially lead to things such as insanity, other mental health issues, or the worst case possible, death. Unfortunately, if the teen gets to the point where she feels like there s no other option, she will most likely turn to drugs and alcohol, making her situation even worse for herself and those around her. If drugs or alcohol were involved before the teen knew she became pregnant, medical complications to her or the baby are very likely. The teen has to stop drinking, or doing any type of drugs immediately if she wants to keep her and her baby safe. If the mother gets hurt in anyway while she is pregnant, she can potentially hurt and/or kill her baby. Birth deformities are common in mothers who choose to not have a healthy lifestyle. I learned many things in this course that greatly helped me improve my writing. My writing overall improved in style, flow, and basic fundamental writing thought processes, which is all the areas that are hard to learn. The speculators would speculate how much a piece of land was worth then sell it and turn the profits over to a financial center and make a tremendous profit from it. Yet another reason why Texans might have revolted was that they were trying to preserve and maintain the political values and economic gain while under the Constitution of 1824. It gave Texas a steady population flow of American migrants moving onto Texas soil. It also gave them political liberty, freedom to own slaves and a steady economic progression. But Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, president of Mexico, wished to impose a stricter rule which could also explain why Texas felt the need to separate from Mexico. From the kids who do graduate 18% won t be able to attend four years of college. Knowing those statistics and how they affected children all around the U.S. Wendy Kopp wanted to change those statistics. Wendy Kopp was born in Austin, Texas on June 29th, 1867. Wendy Kopp believed that it was the responsibility of everyone to stop children from being uneducated. She attended Princeton as a public policy major and was involved in many activities. She met a variety of people during her college years and learned more about students who come from poor communities and found that they have lower academic achievement because they were less prepared for the challenges ahead. Wendy eventually used this same idea in her senior thesis. I initially took Jazz III because it is required for my dance minor; I also hoped to gain a better understanding of the Jazz Technique. Throughout this course I achieved the goals that I set at the beginning of the semester. My goals were to be very confident doing double pirouettes and comfortable doing triple pirouettes. I also wanted to focus on being a more conscious turner and dancer. I pushed myself to break my habit of just going for pirouette and hoped that it all worked out. Each class I learned new imagery and pedagogies that have been extremely beneficial to my dance career. A few images and pedagogies that resonated were the idea of my pelvis being an elevator, taking my pelvis with me, especially when doing battement s, and understanding the placement of a turned in passé. I have already taken and applied the goals, imagery, and pedagogies into my dance career. At first, I was concerned with such varied levels but throughout the course I felt challenged in the Jazz III/I class. Jazz III is required for dance minors to complete. I was excited to take this course because I wanted to expand my Jazz Technique. Throughout the course I have learned a lot about the Jazz Technique and Vernacular. Conceptual Framework According to Bono and Judge (2003) there is no single approach to developing a human resource strategy for effective job performance. As a matter of fact, the specific approach will vary from organization to organization. Even so, the literature reviewed so far and a consideration of the organizational culture that pertains in the National Commission for Civic Education makes the model presented below an excellent approach. This conceptual model identifies six specific steps in developing an effective human resource strategy: a) Setting the strategic direction b) Designing the human resource management system c) Planning the total workforce d) Generating the required human resources e) Investing in human resource development and performance f) Assessing and sustaining organizational competence and performance Strategic direction Strategic direction basically looks at the direction and outcomes that the organization seeks to achieve. It entails detailing out the overall policy framework of the organization (NCCE) with regards to its human resources. In setting these strategies key questions such us; 1. What the current strategy of the organization is. 2. • 30. The Theory Of Plate Tectonics And Continental Drift The concept of plate tectonics is that the lithosphere, which is the higher layers of the Earth s surface, is separated into a number of plates that float independently over the mantle and along the boundaries that initiate the development of new crust, the building of mountains, and the seismic movement that triggers earthquakes (Geosystems 340). Scientists have discovered that the landforms and geographic regions we know and live on today were formed when plate tectonics shift and create movement on the Earth, forming many land structures. In 1977 two scientists created the most elaborate and detailed picture of the earth that has ever been designed, called the Tharp Heezen map of the seafloor (National Geographic, PT). Because of this map, the theory of plate tectonics and continental drift was accepted widely across the world and still known today. A German geophysicist, Alfred Wegener, presented an idea in his book Origin of the Continents and Oceans, evoking the topic of continental drift, which is the gradual movement of the continents across the earth s surface through geological time. He named the large supercontinent Pangaea , meaning all Earth (Geosystems 340). The two types of tectonic plates are the oceanic and continental plates. The plate s shift and slide over the asthenosphere, the molten upper portion of the mantle. The two types of plates meet at the boundaries that cross our planet and since 71% of the earth covered in water the majority of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Sumarians Essay Sumarians, an ancient group of people who lived in southern Mesopotamia around 3500 BC, are attributed with the very first attempts to transcribe symbols onto moveable materials. The Sumarians developed a cuneiform alphabet, which were then etched into clay tablets with a triangle shaped stylus called a calamus and then allowed to dry or fired in a kiln to make them last as long as possible. The Sumarians are speculated to be the earliest people to ever use the first known written system in the world. The earliest surviving Papyrus scrolls that contain written text originate in Egypt and date back to around 2400 BC during the Fifth Dynasty of King Neferirkare Kakai, although historians have suggested papyrus could have been used as early as 3100 BC during the First Dynasty. Papyrus is a very thick paper like material that is made from the pith , center of the stem, of the papyrus plant, a reed like swamp plant that used to be found in abundance along the Nile river. This pith was cut into thin strips, pressed together, and then glued and dried to form a thin flat surface that could be written on. (Hughes, New Song 9) According to the Declaration of Independence proclaimed in 1776 the democracy of the United States rests upon the fundamentals of freedom, equality and the pursuit of happiness. Imparting the precept that all men are created equal , the American Dream emerges. Often being described as a national ethos, it is spreading the belief that anyone has the opportunity for prosperity and success, regardless of race or social class. The Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 emphasises these beliefs and promises everlasting freedom. Despite the official equalisation, especially African Americans could not avail themselves of their rights, still facing severe restrictions and isolation in everyday life. At the beginning of the 20th century the desire for freedom and self representation among the African American community grows and culminates in the Harlem Renaissance a cultural and intellectual movement, celebrating the African origin and developing a new black self confidence known as the New Negro . In 1971, due to ANCSA, 100 shares were given to every Alaska Native that could prove they had a quarter blood of Alaska Native heritage and lived in a local traditional Alaskan native village. These shares were considered payment for the pipeline. However they did not take on the form of money like most lands do. These land shares could not be traded or sold. They could only be handed down through inheritance. The federal government also put a requirement on the ANCSA formed corporations which were to turn a profit. This was a way for the federal government to ensure economic advance. The way the federal government would ensure this is, if the ANCSA formed corporation could not turn a profit, the federal government could go in and seize the land and dismantle the corporation for breaching their duty to profit the land. Not only was this a way of ensuring economic advance but it was another way the federal government could gain land. Because of these steep requirements some native lands have been seized by the federal government, and those who have not already been lost have either gone bankrupt or merged with other ANCSA corporations to keep their land. Other native corporations have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Catalase on Hydrogen Peroxide Essay Abstract The aim of this study was to test the rate of reactivity of the enzyme catalase on hydrogen peroxide while subject to different concentrations of an inhibitor. The hypothesis was that hydrogen peroxide will be broken down by catalase into hydrogen and oxygen, where a higher concentration of inhibitor will yield less oxygen, resultant of a lower rate of reaction. Crushed potato samples of equal weight were placed in hydrogen peroxide solutions of various temperatures. The results showed that less gas was produced as the concentration of the inhibitor rose. This Is because more enzymes were inhibited, and so less active sites were available for reaction. Reasearch and rationale Hypothesis: Catalase will break down hydrogen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Planning I will be studying the rate of catalase activity on hydrogen peroxide while varying the amount of inhibition, which should influence the rate of the reaction, and thus the amount of oxygen, observed in a given time. The concentration of the inhibitor will therefore be the independent variable, while the amount of oxygen will be the dependent variable. There should a smaller volume of oxygen observed as the concentration of the enzyme increases. As I am comparing two variables to each other, it would be wise to calculate the correlation of the two variables. To calculate the correlation, I should use Spearman s rank correlation coefficient. To find a suitable correlation, I should use at least 8 samples. After plotting a scattergraph, I will proceed to find out the correlation if the correlation looks reasonable enough. Variables Temperature: Temperature is an extremely important variable to consider, as it can affect the rate of reaction in a number of ways. If the temperature of a system is increased, more molecules will reach the activation energy and the rate of reaction will increase. The number of collisions will also increase. As enzymes must collide with substrates, an increase in temperature and thus kinetic energy will result in more collisions occurring in a given time. Increasing the temperature will also increase the heat of the molecules. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Treaty of Waitangi TREATY OF WAITANGI The Treaty of Waitangi is an agreement between the British Crown and the Maori people. The Treaty of Waitangi was signed on the sixth of February 1840 by 43 Northland chiefs and Lieutenant Governor Hobson. The Treaty recognized Maori people occupied New Zealand prior to British. The Treaty of Waitangi allowed the Crown to set up a government to establish laws, and recognised that Māori people owned their lands and other properties. The immigrants (British citizens) could come and live here in peace. Meanwhile, Maori gained the some rights as British citizens. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essentially the Treaty was an attempt to establish a system of property rights for land with the Crown controlling and overseeing land sale, to prevent abuse. Initially this worked well. Māori were eager to sell land, and settlers eager to buy. The Crown mediated the process to ensure that the true owners were properly identified (difficult for tribally owned land) and fairly compensated, by the standards of the time. However after a while Māori became disillusioned and less willing to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Old Spice Ad Smell like a Man, Man For years Old Spice has been the immediate brand that comes to mind when anyone mentions a manly fragrance. The first advertisement is a poster created by Old Spice that shows a man in the bathtub with bubbles on him depicting a lumberjack. The second image shows a nerdy guy that is revealed to be a rock star deep down. Both of these advertisements were produced by Old Spice to promote one of their products called After Hours body wash. Old Spice has found the ability to make every man wish that he were something better by using appeals to men s want for women and manliness. Deep down, underneath that soft outer shell, is a strong man that is released with just the use of an Old Spice product. Old Spice attempts to connect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first poster displays the main character with far less details than the second poster. While the first mainly focuses on the main character having a vague resemblance to a lumberjack, the second shows a highly detailed outer and inner character. Giving the audience a more vague view of the character allows for a more personal understanding of what the advertisement is portraying; whereas, displaying the character with more details and features shows a more specified character that could help the audience further understand the connection between the nerdy guy and his tough inner self. The more intricate details of the second poster show that the nerdy guy on the outside, is simply a man with little talent compared to his inner rock star self. His inner self is shown to be playing a two guitars and a saxophone all at the same time portraying his more advanced skills. He has the ability to do what the nerdy guy wishes he could do but can t. The bikini top jumps at the fact that the rock star does well with women, something that the nerdy guy could never accomplish himself without the help of the Old Spice body wash. These differences reiterate the main character s need for the body wash because it allows them to be what they always wanted to be. Another aspect of both advertisements is that there are visuals that act on text contained in them. The word man is contained in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Large Events Of Philadelphia Liabilities of Large Events Philadelphia consistently ranks among one of the most popular cities in the United States, both in terms of visitation and in terms of global recognition. This ranking is driven by prominent events in the past, and 2016 will be no different. Events such as the papal visit and the democratic nomination convention will inevitably influence Philadelphia s economy, and it has long been an accepted notion that these events cause a positive impact. However, recent studies have begun to erode this misconception. The disastrous papal visit proved the economic harm of large scale events, and in events such as the upcoming Democratic national convention, Philadelphia shouldn t expect any significant economic windfall. The large influx of tourists coming to city for large events repels local citizens who consume from local businesses, resulting in local businesses being forced to fall behind schedule. The Papal visit was projected to generate 400 million dollars for the city, but instead exemplifies the way in which super events can go awry (Debree 2). Pope Francis visited the city of Philadelphia from September 26th through the 27th, and predictably paranoia ensued. Hundreds of thousands of people flooded the city for the opportunity to watch the pope speak. The damage was assessed weeks later. City controller Alan Butkovitz published an analysis in October of 2015 detailing the Papal visit s economic impact and his conclusions were undeniably grim. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Army Leadership Definition Too often the Army seeks to solve dynamic issues through management processes while underutilizing leadership. The Army is prone to this in part because it does not distinguish between leadership and management in doctrine or practice. There has been an ongoing debate in Military review as to the relationship between command, leadership and management. In the Army, leadership and management merge into one concept. As leadership is doctrinally conceptualized in managerial terms, it limits the scope of personal power. It is difficult, if not impossible, to conduct management functions that stretch outside the bounds of a given authority. Management is important and necessary; however, leadership initiates effective and lasting change in our Soldiers. The Army s definition of leadership is the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation (ADP 6 22, 2012). However, the Army s, Army Doctrinal Reference Publication (ADRP) 1 02 does not include a doctrinal definition for management nor is there a definition in the Joint Publication 1 02. Merriam Webster defines management as the act or art conducting or supervising (Merriam Webster, 2017). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 49. Essay On Space Race When people talk about the events in the space race, the first thing they often talk about is Neil Armstrong being the first man to walk on the moon. While Neil Armstrong played a big part in the race to the moon, there are many other people who contributed to the great space race. Many people do not know who the major people involved in the space race were, what the race was trying to accomplish, why it happened, and when this historical event took place in American history. Dwight D. Eisenhower was the president who founded the space program, also known as NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration.) The whole goal of NASA was to gain information and fix the problems with flight within our atmosphere and outside of our atmosphere (https://history.nasa.gov/factsheet.mht). There was also another reason why NASA was created, for military and defense against enemies (https://history.nasa.gov/factsheet.mht). America s biggest enemy at the time was the Soviet Union lead by Nikita Khrushchev. Shortly after Eisenhower founded the space program, John F. Kennedy took over as president.
