The Importance Of Life In The Nursing Home
Anna Mae Halgrim Seaver felt powerless. The words she used to describe the nursing home facility
and her treatment forced me to imagine myself in a nursing home. I have never experienced what Ms.
Seaver went through, and I can assume that no nursing home facility has experienced it either. Above
all, the main thing that could have been done to make her life more tolerable is educating the staff
members of the facility and staff members in general in the health care field on what it is like to live in
a nursing care facility. Imagine living the majority of your life as a teacher with a degree in music, or
the founder of a multimillion dollar company, imagine having individuals learn from you and respect
you throughout your life and then suddenly have that taken away. Educating staff on the importance of
upholding respect for patients is important, we need to make every patient feel safe and being
respectful plays a large part in doing so.
The attitude towards her placement in the nursing home is more of a sad acceptance. Ms. Seaver
understands she is getting older and that with aging you may lose control over your bowels or be
unable to walk because your bones become a little weaker over time, but her mind is still there, yet she
is treated as if she has lost it. Ms. Seaver accepts why she has been placed in a nursing home but she is
incredibly unhappy that her independence and privacy has been taken away.
I m not entirely sure if her family had other options.

Concussions Management
The purpose of this article is to present both the theoretical and clinical foundations and procedures
for pre and post concussion management used by a university based interdisciplinary team coordinated
by speech language pathology. The Miami University Concussion Management Program is one of the
oldest university based concussion programs in the United States and one of the few where the
neurobehavioral and neurocognitive management is coordinated by speech language pathology. This
article starts off by giving us a definition of a sport related concussion, which is defined as a
traumatically induced brain injury caused by contact with an opponent, a teammate, the ground, or an
object in the playing area. It goes on to talk about how research

Hispanic Culture And Mexican-Americans
In the United States, Mexican Americans comprise 14.5 percent of the total U.S. population. Today,
while most Mexican Americans live in urban areas, significant numbers comprise both the north and
south, across the United States. However, one misconception is that all Spanish or Latino cultures are
the same. The differences between Mexico and other Latin American countries include 500 years of
separate histories and their specific customs. These specific customs were present prior to their
submission to the Spaniards. Although Spanish is the principal language spoken by most Hispanics,
regional pronunciations and dialects differ in their speech patterns. Similarly, the Mexican cultures
each have different dietary patterns. The traditional Mexican American diet is rich in a variety of
foods and dishes that represent a blend of cultures. Primarily, pre Columbian, indigenous Indian,
Spanish, French, and more recently, American culture. Traditional diets reflect the geographic regions
of Mexico and the availability of local fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy products, and protein sources.
Tap water is often unsafe in Mexico new immigrants may need to be reassured that U.S. tap water is
safe. The family unit is the single most important social unit in the life of Hispanics. Family
responsibilities come before all other responsibilities. Gender differentiation and male dominance are
issues to consider while working with Hispanic families. The father is the leader of the family,

Statement Of Purpose For Financial Management Accounting
Financial Management Accounting has been developing since the evolution of International Financial
Reporting Standards. The significance of highly qualified management accountants is crucial for
public and private enterprises, developing countries, startups, and others. Personally, I have chosen
Oulu University and Financial Management Accounting due to several reasons that are based on my
experience and motivation. I am a competent candidate for applying to study in Financial
Management Accounting Master s Degree program at Oulu University. The first reason of applying is
to develop the most essential set of skills in order to produce the best results possible. Some
individuals claim that education is an ongoing process from birth till death. It sounds a bit ruthless, but
this is a true claim. The general objective of a management accountant is to provide decision making
information in a certain economic situation; provide justification for a price increase, forecast and plan
different financial results. Therefore, the data that is provided should be maximum accurate, well

accomplishment is an acquisition of LCCI Business English Certification for managers. This
qualification helps me to write business letters and build efficient communication at work. At college
and university, I participated at some scientific conferences. One of my themes was «The benefits and

Katink A Narrative Fiction
Nyna, I don t know about this. The garden has been off limits since the incident with the Prince. What
happens if that happens to us? Nyna held my hand, leading me into the back garden of the castle.
Leaving me with a view of the back of her blonde head. Kat, aren t you supposed to follow my every
wish? She turned around, letting go of my hand to walk backwards to talk to me. I may be your
servant inside the castle, but in private I m so much more. I gave her a sly smile. But that doesn t mean

I heard her scream, but I was only focused on the looming sense of lost hope. It made my shoulders

body reaching out from me. Mother. I shrank back, shaking the tiredness from my body, replacing it
with cold fear. No, I whispered, my hands coming to my mouth. My mother s body. My poor,

What Is John Steinbeck s Message In Of Mice And Men
During the early years of the Great Depression, hundreds of thousands of American workers became
out of work and began to travel across the country, in search of work, and the fabled American Dream.
John Steinbeck s novel, Of Mice and Men, a historical fiction piece, follows the struggles of two such
American workers, on their journey through the tumultuous era of the Great Depression. However the
novel s message comes from the struggles of the two main characters, George and Lenny, and the
actions they must take to overcome the obstacles in front of them. Steinbeck s purpose for writing the
novel was to express his views on the American Dream and express his experiences through the
characters he creates. The messages that Steinbeck conveys through his novel are how impossible it
truly is to achieve the American Dream, and how it is the nature of man to prey on the weak; this
message adding to the impossibility of the American dream, men making it impossible for their fellow
man to succeed.
As Steinbeck writes the novel, he imbues the story, with his own personal knowledge of the times, as
much of the fictional setting comes from his own experiences supporting himself as a laborer in
California, struggling to achieve his own American Dream. While the American Dream ... Show more

Steinbeck conveys his message using his tone to convey his attitude regarding his messages to readers,
and develop emotions on those topics within the audience; through the use of cultural setting to
develop ideas like the use of racism and sexism, and through the actions and dialogue of his
characters. These methods, along with the overall themes of the novel are how Steinbeck

Post Polio Research Paper
Epidemics have initial devastating consequences; however, what about the patients that survive?
According to Robin Howard in Poliomyelitis and the Postpolio Syndrome (2005), the World Health
Organization (WHO) discussed a significant drop in polio cases between 1988 and 2003 due to
increased immunizations. WHO identified that although there was a drop from 350,000 to 900 cases
worldwide, polio is still considered an epidemic in six third world countries. While its important to
understand polio and its initial symptoms its equally important to understand that polio survivors may
develop significant symptoms decades later; this classified as PPS. Suffers are more likely to have
surgical procedures related to their age as a result of deterioration. Although polio has lost its grip on
the world population as an imminent epidemic threat, the potential for anesthesia providers to
encounter PPS patients is real and present. If health care providers want to avoid the cliché history
repeats itself, its imperative to understand PPS is present and can be invisible.

Understanding post polio syndrome cannot be explained without investigating polio. Polio, also

nonparalytic polio resembles viral meningitis. Paralytic polio, on the other hand resulted in muscle

Hearts And Minds Documentary Analysis
The documentary Hearts and Minds was interesting and eye opening for me as it was the first in depth
visual of the Vietnam Era and of the war itself. After watching the movie, and thinking about it
without the initial emotional impact, I realized a few things that the director was trying to prove to the
audience. Generally, I thought that the film was biased towards one side. It showed almost no pro war
people except the POW and a few politicians. However, the framing the director used made them look
like fanatics or cold hearted racists. Granted, the human pain they showed on both sides was real and
could not have been exaggerated. It was eye opening to see just how wrong the U.S. was to enter into
Vietnam. The documentary made it seem like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

occurring overseas, and the lies that the government pushed down the peoples throats. To be honest, I
think the documentary could have gone either way with the American public at the time is was
released. I feel that if you saw the film with open eyes that it would have greatly disturbed anyone that
saw it. However, I also feel that there would be individuals who would refuse to believe that that was
really went on if they had gone in believing that it was a necessary military engagement or if they lost
a loved one and did not want to believe their death was in vain. This documentary was a good tool to
get across the needless violence that occurred during the war, however, the film was not very accurate
in the portrayal of every event that they filmed and then incorporated into the documentary. From the
little knowledge that I have of the Vietnam War, even I noticed discrepancies and moments when the
director did not fully explain the situation and left a wrong impression for the audience. Without

Boeing states the following in a company newsletter released August 27, 2009:
Therefore, costs previously recorded for the first three flight test airplanes will be reclassified from
program inventory to research and development expense, resulting in an estimated non cash charge of
$2.5 billion pre tax, or $2.21 per share, against third quarter results. This charge will have no impact
on the company s cash outlook going forward.
The comparison, effectiveness, and positive versus negative reactions to the use of these control
mechanisms are as follows:
Six Sigma affords the avoidance of a hit and miss approach by breaking into measurable bites an
entire chain of events leading to a problem, and then coming up with a corrective action (Roff, 2005,

the time of implementation until its development is fully realized. It is a method that is most useful to
a company when it is tailored specifically to a company s processes. Feedback affords the necessary

Essay On Muscle Dysmorphia
Television ads, social media posts, and news reports regarding weight loss supplements and strategies
reveal society s growing concern over its physical appearances. While anorexia and bulimia are
commonly known eating disorders where people alter their eating habits in unsafe methods because
they feel they are too big, muscle dysmorphia is a less renowned perception that leads those who
suffer from it to feel as if they are too small. Unlike those who feel they are too big and change their
consumption of foods, those who have muscle dysmorphia can develop a dependence on steroids
rather than food alone to achieve the results they desire. In reality, though, those who suffer from

Also known as bigorexia, muscle dysmorphic disorder functions through the mind of those who have
it and wrongs the brain s ability to map body boundaries ( Muscle dysmorphic disorder (bigorexia),
2016). Despite attempts at building their muscles by weightlifting or eating plans, bigorexic people are
never satisfied with their bodies because they mind is incapable of doing so. Simply put, the mind is
unable to see the progress or already existing muscle on those who suffer from this condition,
therefore they are led to continuously work towards building their muscles out of a constant worry that
they are too small. This disorder is more prevalent in males than females, possibly because the
culturally defined ideal male is big and strong while the ideal female is small and thin ( Muscle
dysmorphic disorder (bigorexia), 2016). Despite the higher number of males that suffer with this
disorder, there is a presence of females who believe they are too thin and Levine explains that media
outlets contribute to society s obsession with physical appearances. Levine (2009), also asserts that
disorders and obsessions regarding body image spans across all economic and sociocultural line,
which is a factor that can contribute to the number of those who suffer from

Cataract Research Paper
Cataract is one of the visual problems that we are discussing in this project. They are developing on a
particular tissue from the eye called lens. The lens is located behind the iris and the pupil, this tissue is
fundamental in order to complete the visual process. The lens is a clear part of the eye that helps to
focus light or images on the retina, working like a camera lens. Cataracts produce a clouding on the
lens affecting the vision of the person. Most of them are commonly cause by aging, however they can
be develop on young people as well, but how are cataracts develop? The lens is made of water and
proteins; those proteins are organizing in a precise way that keeps the lens clear letting lights pass
perfectly through the retina. When people age some of those proteins can move and clump together
clouding a part of the lens making it harder for the person to see with the affected eye. Cataracts are
the most common cause of vision loss in people over 40 years and is the leading cause of blindness in
the world. In fact, there are more cases of cataracts worldwide than glaucoma, macular degeneration
and diabetic retinopathy combined. Currently, cataracts affect more than 22 million Americans form
40 years of age or older. In addition, as the population of the United States ages, more than 30 million
cataract cases are expected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

implant (IOL). Sometimes an IOL is not used, and glasses or contact lenses can

Cosmetic Surgery And Its Effects On People And Their Lives
THE DEVIL IN COSMETIC SURGERY
Nowadays, the physical beauty has been considered like a scale to evaluate and measure people,
especially women. Everyone wants to have a perfect body as well as a beautiful face to attract the
others. Some people try to get their beauty through makeup, exercise or diet, but some try to fix their
appearance by the intervention of cosmetic surgeons. Thus, cosmetic surgery somehow has become
the most popular procedure for people to improve their beauty. There is no doubt that cosmetic
surgery has brought for people the ideal beauty in some cases. However, the risks of cosmetic surgery
still exist. People s desires to improve their physical beauty do not always come true. In the other
words, there are many negative results from cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery has several negative
impacts on people and their lives. It makes people addicted, leads people to risk their lives for the
illegal surgery, and causes some serious health complications.
One important reason why cosmetic surgery has a harmful effect is that it makes people addicted.
There are many cases in which people who have cosmetic surgery do not have just a single operation
to reconstruct their faces or bodies. For those people, they try to find the perfection through many
surgery procedures. It is common for a person who has one surgery, wants another one to improve its
looks. One of the example for this is Justin Jedlica, known as a Human Ken Doll, living in New York,
United States.

Religious Tolerance In The American Colonies
Religious Tolerance
In the year 1776, the American Colonies drafted the Declaration of Independence. This document
symbolized freedom from Great Britain. According to Essentials of American Government Roots and
Reform, Englishmen and other Europeans left home seeking to enhance their fortunes. With them
came a host of laborers who hoped to find their own opportunities for riches [in the American
colonies] (O Connor, Sabato, and Yanus 6). As the colonies grew in size and stability, an influx of
Englishmen came to America for a variety of incentives. Two of these incentives would include:

This argument is based on information found on oyez.org. In 1963 a federal program, Higher
Education Facilities, created grants for educational institutions. These institutions were sponsored by
local churches. The grant specifically said the new buildings could have no religious associations for
twenty years. After the twenty year period, the building could be used for any purpose the church
needed it to. The grant attempted to neutralize the moral background that may influence the college
students in the new building. In 1970 a law suit was filed. The sponsors believed if they were
sponsoring these educational institutions, they should be able to use the building for religious reasons.
In 1971 the court decided the twenty year wait for the building to be able to be used for any
recreational purpose was unconstitutional. The court argued grants are considered federal aid;
therefore, the federal government has no right to intervene with religious purpose. The first
amendment claims the federal government cannot deny anyone of practicing religion anywhere
including in a granted building. The court also said since the money was not used to fund religious
activity the building was like any other building. The court believed college students would be able to
decide with their own opinions on rather to attend these church services. The services were not
mandatory to attend. Also, the court decided the period

United States Six Economic Social Classes
Society is set up into a hierarchical triangle that essentially determines social class. A social class is
any person or group of people with the same educational, social or economical status. Social class can
be broken down into many different categories such as race, age, gender, economic status, educational
status and many more. Social class can be measured in many different ways such as financial status,
family values, appearance, and demeanor. In America there are six main economical social classes
which are the: Very poor, Poor, Working class, Middle class, Upper middle class, and the ruling class.
The very poor class contains all citizens that have a very low economic status. Most have no economic
security, are unemployed, and have no education after high school. American citizens in this class
have just enough money to survive. The poor class includes any American citizen who does not have
enough money to have basic necessities. The working class includes American citizens who have
enough to provide basic needs for their family. They do not have some of the simple luxuries; if they
do; they have to save up to buy it. In the middle class, most citizens go to college. People in the
middle class do not necessarily live paycheck to paycheck, but have enough money to spend on
leisure. The next social class in America is the upper middle class, whose citizens mainly attend
private or charter schools. ( Hancock, 1998). They hold professions such as doctors and

A Research On Telehealth And Telemedicine Is A Tool For...
Telehealth Consultation Telehealth is becoming a widely used tool for seeking medical care, or
consultation. The world of technology we live in is ever growing, making healthcare easily accessible
through telehealth. While many different organizations define telehealth using different words, they all
have the same idea. I found in my research that telehealth and telemedicine are defined differently.
Definition
Per the healthit.gov website, telehealth is different from telemedicine, because it refers to a broader
scope of remote healthcare services than telemedicine. While telemedicine refers specifically to
remote clinical services, telehealth can refer to remote non clinical services, such as provider training,
administrative meetings, and continuing medical education, in addition to clinical services. According
to healthit.gov, the Health Resources Services Administration defines telehealth as the use of
electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support long distance clinical health
care, patient and professional health related education, public health and health administration.
Medicare defines it as Telehealth (or Telemonitoring) is the use of telecommunications and
information technology to provide access to health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, consultation,
supervision and information across distance.

I Have Collected Artifacts For The Association For Middle...
Throughout this fall semester, as a Preservice Middle Level Educator, I have been observing and
engaging in Ms. Mahdi s 7th grade Science class. It is at this placement that I have collected artifacts
for a portfolio to illustrate a competency and achievement related to the Association for Middle Level
Education standards. In this portfolio summary you will find various artifacts that help demonstrate
these AMLE standards. The AMLE standards as a whole, cover academic growth and set an
expectation for middle school teachers to be mindful that their middle school students are
continuously experiencing social and cognitive changes that should be addressed thoughtfully, just as
much as their academic needs.
The first artifact I included was a sample of student work where the students were asked to fill out a
survey to verify and understand their learning styles. This artifact was introduced with some history
and with an emphasis on how important it is for students to know and understand their own learning
styles. After a discussion on the importance of knowing thyself the students graded and scored their
learning style preferences. Next followed a discussion on the various types of learning styles and ways
students could incorporate their preferred learning styles when doing homework, classwork, and
studying for assessments. This artifact is a good example of how Standard 4: Element b., Middle
Level Instructional Strategies, can be applied directly to student assessments.

Co Teaching Is Like A Professional Marriage Because
A) First, complete this sentence with at least 4 ideas Co teaching is like a professional marriage
because......
1) Communication is vital in keeping a marriage and collaboration together. There has to be clear
communication on both parties. Thoughts and ideas should be address. In doing this there needs to be
face to face interaction. Both parties need to make good eye contact, face their partner and discuss
their ideas or problems they are having. Just like in a good marriage communicate what are the
responsibilities of each person.
2) Listen is another component of how marriage and collaboration go together. Everyone in the
marriage and team needs to active listen to each other. This builds trust and shows your partner that
you care and are interested in what they have to say. Some great strategies for active listening are to
use reflection statements for instance; paraphrase what the speaker said and responding to underlying
feelings (Tindall, 2000).
3) Co teaching and a marriage have to display the same philosophy and values for any relationship to
work. It is a give and take situation. There should be a great deal of respect for each other. Both people
view each other as equal with the same attitude and expectations.
4) Finally co teaching and a marriage shared the load, have fun, and problem solve together. When

Gender Socialisation Gender
Socialisation refers to the lifelong social experience by which people develop their human potential
and learn culture . (Macionis, 2012)
In the society we live in today there is a strong difference between what is considered boy and what is
considered girl . This is because from the time we are born, to the time we die we are expected to
conform to a gender role. Gender socialisation is the development for boys and girls to be socialised
differently. Boys are raised to conform to the male gender role, and girls are raised to conform to the
female gender role. Behaviors, attitudes, and personality characteristics are gender roles, which are
expected and encouraged of a person based on his or her sex . (Spark Notes, 2017) Today it is
essentially believed that most gender differences are attributed to differences in socialisation, rather
than genetic and biological factors . (Boundless, 2017). By gender socialisation, the simplest
explanation is the process of learning what it means to be a male or female in the society, in which
gender stereotypes and bias are usually involved. For example, boys should be tough, brave, strong,
sporty, while girls on the other hand are soft, moody, passive, and allowed to cry. And another
example girls are expected to be clean and quiet, while boys are messy and loud.
Gender socialisation appears very early in childhood, and it is generally regarded as one of the most
related issues. (Early Childhood, 2007) Children learn the

behaviours (Channing Bete Company 2004). The separation of a child s parents can put him/her at risk
especially if there are a lot of changes or that the child does not have a good relationship with at least
one parent (Burt 2002). It has been indicated in a study that girls in two parent families are less likely
to act out risky behaviours than those in single parent families. (M.D. Resnick et al 1993). Children or
adolescents who are well reasonably well adjusted after divorce nearly always come from an
environment where there is a firm, responsive, nurturing, supportive adult (Henderson 2002). Pauline
s recent history is shows this sort of environment has not been there for her. A factor that protects an
adolescent is having an adult in her life she can trust and with whom she can confide. The presence of
an adult Mentor in an adolescents life helps reduce the participation in risk taking behaviours. (Beier
et al 2000). Pauline reports having a close relationship with her Aunty Sarah who lives down the road
with her Nan. She is able to confide with Aunty Sarah and feels close to her. This is a significant
protective factor for Pauline.

Right Choice In Antigone

English II
24 September 2014 ANTIGONE In Antigone written by Sophocles and translated by David R. Slavitt,
Antigone decides to risk her own life to be able to bury her brother in a respectful way in which she
thinks is right. Antigone had an enthusiastic determination about it, approached it without regret, and
also choose her destiny and her sisters. Her father s fate was a big affect on if she was going to
precede with burying her brother or to no give him the respect like the rest of the surrounding
community. Even though Antigone risked her whole life and her entire future she made the right
decision by burying her brother and sticking to her own judgment. Antigone thought positively from

She knew that in her mind, knowing her fathers fate that this was definitely the right choice. She did
not care about other people s options and the consequences were not affecting her at the time they
were decided. Antigone feels, as though that this is a good way to die, it s a way that she is going to be
remembered for what she has done. Sister, forbear, or I shall hate thee soon, and the dead man will
hate thee too, with cause. Say I am mad and give my madness rein to wreck itself; the worst that can
befall is but to die an honorable death. (92 96). Because Antigone approaches her consequences
(death) without regret, her demise takes a tone other than the tragic feel of the suicides of Haemon and
Eurydice. By choosing this path she did not only choose her life/future but she also the rest of her
family s. Her whole family will be affected by her choice of following her father s fate, either now or
in the future. Antigone and Ismene have a very in depth conversation before it takes place. Ismene is
somewhat upset about the choice Antigone is about to make not only for her sake but also her own
destiny. Antigone: Claim not a work in which thou hadst no

4. Initiation of global financial crisis: The entire financial crisis since 1930 has proximity to one
another overpriced stocks, trouble free credit expansion, insatiability of power money and substantial
fraud(Yeoh, 2010). However, 2008 economic catastrophe resembles that markets are more closely
linked to each other and systemic risk can be originated from many market resources and can be
transferred very quickly due to lack of proper corrective measures(Kindleberger et al., 2005). The
crisis mainly begun in January 2007, when US market reported losses in mortgage market and credit
exposure due to certain delinquencies, especially in sub prime loan category. Stage 2 of crisis came up
with fast deflation of housing value in slowing world economy, and it damaged property market in UK

The Black Cat Thesis
The Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe is a horror story about a man who loses everything he once had due
to his alcohol use/abuse. The story begins when the narrator confesses his love for animals. The
narrator marries a woman and introduces her to a black cat, named Pluto. The narrator begins to suffer
from violent and uncontrollable mood swings, caused from influence of alcohol. After coming home
drunk one night the narrator lashes out at Pluto, he quickly tries to grab the cat, only to be bitten. To
get revenge the narrator pulls a knife from his pocket and cuts out one of Pluto s eyes. He then goes on
to blame this on the spirit of perverseness, which means rejecting what is good, right, and/or proper.
Meaning that the narrator believes that in his alcoholic haze, he is possessed and it is making him
wicked and corrupt. The narrator says the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator even claims not to be crazy, but then he goes on to think and act in such a way that the

of sanity, Poe does hint that madness might happen at any time to any person, just like how the
narrator transforms from a gentle animal lover into an evil killer. The narrator does address the fact
that he is an alcoholic, But my disease grew upon me for what disease is like Alcohol (Poe 46).
Professor McMurran, a psychologist at the University of Nottingham, says that, Alcohol reduces our
ability to think straight, it narrows our focus of attention and gives us tunnel vision. If someone
provokes us while we re drunk, we don t take other factors into account, such as consequences, this
can lead to violent reactions from people who would usually shrug things off (Alcohol and
Aggression). This would explain why the narrator in The Black Cat would have had such violent
mood swings which lead him to do the insane things that he

Country Music Research Paper
Johnny Cash said it best, Of emotions, of love, of breakup, of love and hate and death and dying,
mama, apple pie, and the whole thing. It covers a lot of territory, country music does. Country music is
everywhere, blasting from a lifted truck, a store, or a local bar, ranging from Classical country to Pop
country. Country music is not just words written down on a piece of paper, they are more than that.
The artists can write songs that most people can relate to. Alan Jackson and Luke Bryan are both very
known country singers, but are different when it comes down to managing their careers.
Jackson was born in Georgia in 1958 and had his first job at age twelve at a shoe store. He married his
high school sweetheart and has three daughters. Jackson started his career in Nashville, Tennessee, in
1979. He has sold fifteen different albums, eighty million records, and sets the record for having the
most nominations in a single year. Alan also won many awards throughout his career, like single song
of the year for CMA in 1994. As long as I m still able to have a hit on the radio and sell a few albums

Kids Must Do More Than Recite the Pledge of Allegiance Essay
Children in the United States go through many years of school reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, but
does it encourage loyalty in their nation or fear of it? The years that I spent in school reciting the
pledge did little to instill patriotism in me.
I do not even remember the words to it. Having a more hands on approach to community involvement
would be a better way to teach children pride for their country. Encourage children to be concerned
about their school, neighborhood, city and nation by letting them be a part of their community. It is the
job of not just schools, but also the parents to play a part in showing the next generation what true
devotion to their country is all about. True patriotism is the selfless giving of oneself ... Show more

Reciting the pledge doesn t prove loyalty and refusal to recite it doesn t prove treason. We should take
it for granted that our children love their country and nurture those ideas rather than make them recite
an unnecessary, therefore meaningless pledge.
I wish that my parents and my school did more to show me what true patriotism was instead of just
teaching me to blindly recite the Pledge of Allegiance without asking why it was done, or what it
meant. I think that if they would have encouraged me to be a part of my community, I would have
more loyalty to my nation today. I would want the greater good for my country more so than I do now.
Community service is a fantastic technique to show children that there is more to their world than their
own backyard. Encourage them to get involved with or even plan community events such as helping
to paint over graffiti in their neighborhood, cleaning up trash after an event, or help repair a run down
playground. Children may complain about spending their Saturday working rather than playing a
video game or staring at a mind numbing television set all day, but the lessons that they will learn and
the way they feel after the event will be beyond compare. Chances are, they will feel so strongly about
their newly found pride in what they have accomplished, they will continue to do bigger and better
things to show pride in their community.
The next generation can make a vast change in the world with

The Role Of Racis Bacon And Sir Francis Bacon
From the very basis of civilization and the rise of man, the idea of governing the masses was
widespread easily. Even with this ease, it seemed a more difficult task to figure out how the people
should be governed. From that came the common idea of monarchy, ruling families commanding the
populace with iron fists. Even when this was a commonplace form of government, members of the
English court, specifically Sir Francis Bacon, found this form of rule to be unsatisfactory. To escape
the watching steel eyes of the monarchy, Bacon and a few cohorts began to collaborate on plays to
overthrow the rosy image the civilians had of royalty in the 17th century, giving the people the sight to
see what corruption and shaky leadership would come of the royalties that held their country sway.
The works of somebody known as William Shakespeare have been highly debated as to who wrote
them, ever since the First Folio was published. One of the candidates for authorship is Sir Francis
Bacon, a cog in the wheel of the pro republican machine. In his book, Contested Will: Who Wrote
Shakespeare?, James Shapiro wrote about Sir Francis Bacon s motivation, There could be no
mistaking their radical political agenda: these men were committed republicans whose plays were
vindications against tyranny by another name, works produced for the ostensible purpose of
illustrating and adorning the tyrannies which the men, under whose countenance and protection they
were produced, were vainly attempting, or

Positive Impact of Christopher Columbus s Discoveries
The world is a better place because of Christopher Columbus important discoveries in the New World.
His explorations resulted in the vast expansion of property for Europe, the exchange of goods and
cultures between countries and a change in the worldview of geography. Columbus s explorations
were the catalyst for unprecedented trade known as the Columbian Exchange, which started the
exchange of goods and ideas that would last for centuries and change the world forever. His
discoveries unearthed new perspectives and created a mix of diverse biology between Europe and the

Analysis Of A Bronx Morning And Manhatta

Final Draft Resubmission
Although they may seem very different on the surface, the two city symphonies, A Bronx Morning
and Manhatta converse very well with each other. They both manage to capture and emphasize the
aspects of New York City that make up what they love about or what they see the city as. What the
filmmaker wants to show their audience members, and how they wish to portray the city they are
filming is what dictates what he or she chooses to focus in on, or graze over in their filmmaking
process. Both A Bronx Morning and Manhatta capture the city of Manhattan in completely different
yet similar ways, and this all has to do with the film makers choice of how to organize and present
their material to their audience, yet they both manage to mystify New York City.
This can be related to what Michael de Certeau speaks about in his essay, Walking in the City . A
person, through walking and living in one place, writes their own story or poem; or draws their own
picture. A person s experience living in a particular place during a particular time, can be completely
different from a person born at the exact same time and who lives in the exact same place as they do
its all about perspective and life experience. In his article, de Certeau introduces this concept of
walkers being wandersmanners, whose bodies follow the thicks and thins of an urban text they write
about without being able to read it (93). This

Christianity Protestant Reformer Research Paper
Christianity: Protestant Reformer Martin Luther
Martin Luther, born into the Catholic Church in 1483, is considered to be the father of Protestantism. 1
Luther was a devout man who dedicated himself to the study of the bible; in addition to being a
Professor of Biblical Studies at the University of Wittenberg, he was also a priest and a monk. He
spent a lot of his time focusing on what one could do to earn eternal salvation as it was written about
in the Bible. This was especially troubling to him given the actions of his colleagues at the University
of Wittenberg and his fellow priests and monks. He felt the actions of many of those in the Church that
he loved were both immoral and corrupt, and especially in the midst of his own struggles with the idea
of salvation, these actions troubled him deeply. 2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had issues with abuses of power amongst clergy, especially with regard to church finances. He
disliked the idea of indulgences, which involved members of the congregations paying priests and
other leaders for abolition of their sins, effectively bribing church leaders for their own salvation.
More than this, spiritual merit was attached to donations made to the church, and masses were able to
be purchased for the dead. The University of Whittenberg held many sacred relics, including hairs said
to have been from the Virgin Mary and the crown of thorns placed on Jesus head during crucifixion.
Rather than cherishing these items for their religious worth, they were sold. 3
Because of these things, Martin Luther was raged with a fierce and agitated conscience . 4 After
intense study, Luther followed the traditional method of protesting within the Catholic church he
nailed his complaints to the Church door and invited them to meet with him. Because of his refusal to
take back these complaints, and despite his intention to stay in the church, he was excommunicated in
1521.

Recent studies suggested that CD4 domain specific monoclonal antibody such as mAb (15A7) and
Ibalizumab have a great revolution in HIV 1 treatment area. The majority of previous mentioned
treatments constitute to either restore the immune response or decline the plasma vireamia, however,
this type of treatment is more likely to interfere with the HIV 1 structure. Before explaining how this
category of drugs works, it is necessary to clarify the reaction between HIV 1 glycoproteins and CD4.
Once the virus enters the body, HIV 1 envelope glycoprotein (gp120) attaches to a cellular CD4
receptor. As CD4/gp120 is formed, it allows gp120 to attache to chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5) or CX
chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) allowing gp41, another viral envelope molecule, to insert into the
target cell membrane leading to fusion the viral envelope and cellular membrane (Christopher et al.,
2010). Ibalizumab is CD4 domain 2 monoclonal antibody using as an effective treatment to enhance
the CD4 counts. In a study which set out to determine the antiviral efficacy of Ibalizumab on HIV 1
positive patients not on (ART), (Christopher et al., 2010) found that the CD4 counts increase after one
day of drug initiation even before the viral load decline. This suggested that the rise of CD4 counts is
possibly due to redistribution of CD4 cells from lymphoid tissues rather than regeneration of these
cells. Notably, niegher

has been many revolutions in the past, and one of the most well known ones is the Meiji Restoration

involving a 1973 Ford Pinto that killed three teenagers. The Pinto they were driving was hit from
behind by a van which ruptured the vehicle s gas tank engulfing the car in flames. This provoked the
Elkhart County prosecutor to push for a criminal homicide charge against Ford Motor Company. This
trial was big and would affect many American businesses in concerns of corporate responsibility and
product liability.
Even though this was the first criminal case against Ford Motor Company it doesn t mean these were
the first people to lose their lives. There had been hundreds of people who either burned to death or
were left scared and disfigured in similar accidents involving the Pinto. Ford Motor Company
knowingly sold an unsafe car to their customers and paid out millions to settle law suits for damages
out of court. They also spent many more millions lobbying against Federal Motor Vehicle Safety
Standard 301. They fought against this standard until they felt it was profitable to make the change to
the Pinto design which was determined by their cost benefit analysis. This to me was not a wise
ethical decision as it would eventually ruin the company s reputation as well as the lives of people
involved.
During this 20 week trial Judge Staffeldt advised the jury that Ford Motor Company should only be
found guilty if it could be proven the company had committed plain, conscious

The Effects of Sociocultural Factors on Individuals Essay
Swami Nirmalananda, a disciple of the Indian mystic Ramakrishna, once said Our modern society is
engaged in polishing and decorating the cage in which man is kept imprisoned. Society is seen as a
cage by many because the cultural beliefs that make up the society are what guide the actions and
behaviors of those people within. Sometimes the culture in societies result in helping people develop
successfully and positively, but this is not always the case. For instance, societies that were challenged
by racism during the mid twentieth century were marked by rage and were the causes of some
troublesome lives. In two short stories set during the mid twentieth century, Sonny s Blues, by James
Baldwin and The Man Who Was Almost a Man, by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Sonny s father was alive, Sonny would often fight with him, and after fighting Sonny just
moves back, inside himself, where he can t be reached (42). Also, after Sonny s mother passed away, it
was only Sonny and his brother; however, the two were separated for a long period of time. Having
support or being cared for by family members is invaluable, but Sonny did not have this and it
ultimately resulted in one of the reasons for his troubled life. In Richard Wright s short story The Man
Who Was Almost a Man the main character, Dave Saunders, also faces a problem which can be
similarly traced to sociocultural factors. While shooting his gun for the first time Dave accidentally
shoots his boss , Mr. Hawkins, mule, and the mule dies. The only reason Dave purchased a gun in the
first place was to prove to the others in society, specifically those who worked alongside him at Mr.
Hawkins plantation, that he was not a boy anymore, but rather a man. While working on Mr. Hawkins
plantation Dave is often humiliated by the older workers because they think [he] ain t nothing but a
boy (878). Also, the narrator states near the end of the story that a group of people that has gathered
around the dead mule on the plantation laughs at Dave as he is walking away with tear filled eyes
(886). Once again this emphasizes that he receives no respect from the others. Mr. Hawkins plantation
is similar to the social environment in Harlem described in Sonny s Blues . Both

What Happened To Disney Films Summary
Disney movies are in themselves fairy tales meant to be enjoyed by young audiences and approved by
parents concerned with how they re children are developing. In John Evans What s Happened to
Disney Films? the author believes Disney films aren t what they used to be like. He argues that Disney
has produced children movies that have overly dark villains such as Ursula from Little Mermaid
whose bizarre appearance can strike fear into small children, and argues little mermaids has suggestive
undertones. He makes a similar case for Aladdin, stating that several scenes could strike fear into
children specifically the main antagonist Jafar who manipulates others violently for his own sinister
agenda in the movie. He again states there s suggestive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He clearly is a devoted Christian which is fine, but getting upset over movies that depict other beliefs I
find is too sheltering. I suppose I m more of a believer that everyone should go on their own path
regardless of your parent s beliefs, of course when you reach an age where you can decide on your
own. He was very negative towards all the movies that depicted any beliefs that weren t his own,
bringing the idea that he s a close minded individual. I do agree Disney should refrain from putting
suggestive material from their movies intended for children, but in that same mindset should we
refrain from teaching of natural sciences that may depict material of the same nature. In the end
censorship leads to a false sense of reality, like it or not people have sex and reproduce. Children will
find all of this through studying animals in grade school, the idea of a stork bringing babies will only
work for so long. His criticism of Little Mermaid is border line sexist; women should feel empowered
by their bodies not ashamed of them. Regarding his feelings towards colonists being depicted rather
monstrous in Pocahontas, what I recollect from history is colonists largely were monstrous. The
romanticized version of the colonists shaking hands and having a nice Thanksgiving isn t how most
encounters between the various tribes and settlers went. Colonists brought disease and war which
leveled populations of natives;

School Uniforms And The American Civil Liberties Union Of...
Traditionally favored by charter and private schools, and institutions of the like, school uniforms are
being introduced to public schools at an increasing rate. The First Amendment of the United States
Constitution guarantees all citizens the right to express oneself; The American Civil Liberties Union
of Nevada states that having a choice in clothing is ...Crucial form of self expression. The ACLU also
argues that allowing students to choose their clothing is an empowering message from the schools that
a student is a maturing person who is entitled to the most basic self determination, (Four Reasons).
Self expression of style aside, choices in clothing are also a popular method of expressing support for
any variety of social causes, ideologies, and affiliations, and school uniforms strip students of this
option completely. Schools broadcast a mixed message of sorts when boasting their appreciation and
encouragement for diversity, yet enforcing a standardized uniform which severely limits individuals
from expressing this diversity. The Huffington Post published the argument of a Kyler Sumter, 16, of
Lindblom Math and Science Acadamy in Chicago. Kyler argues They decide to teach us about people
like Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony and Booker T. Washington... We learn how these people expressed
themselves and conquered and we can t even express ourselves in the hallways, (Sumter). Arguments
against school uniforms as a means of limiting self expression do not belong only

The East India Company ( Eic )
A corporation, as defined by the Business Dictionary, is a Firm that meets certain legal requirements
to be recognized as having a legal existence, as an entity separate and distinct from its owners. One of
the earliest known corporations was the East India company (EIC), receiving its Royal Charter from
Queen Elizabeth I, in 1600, which granted it the right to incorporate during a time when most people
were either sole proprietors or in partnerships. The EIC was a charter company whose most lucrative
commodity was tea, opium and textiles. Their power and influence was unparalleled and unyielding,
acting as a governing authority in places with weak or no governments. By taking control of the
Bengal opium industry, they were able to trade opium for tea in China, using the excess gains to buy
textiles in Bengal and use them to trade for slaves in Africa, which ultimately they sold for gold in
America. These army backed bandits were above the law and beneath the bailout. By the time of their
eventual demise, the world had changed and laws were put into place to prevent another EIC era,
which better fit Ambrose Bierce s Devil s Dictionary description of a corporation as, an ingenious
device for obtaining profit without individual responsibility .
Introduction
In this essay, I will discuss the basic requirements for starting a business corporation in China, and do
the same for both India and the United States. I will further identify the level of complexity of the

Psychological Resistance In A. S. Byatt s Possession
Chapter three Psychological Resistance In more detail, A.S Byatt s Possession is redolent of certain
aspects of Freudian psychology, more specifically, repression. In this novel the reader is told of the
undertakings of the main character Roland Mitchell not only because of growing up in a society filled
with a pretty blank day but because of growing up in the hands of a drunken mother. A.S Byatt writes
that [H]e thought himself as a latecomer and adds: He (Roland) had arrived too late for things that
were still in the air but vanished, the whole ferment and brightness and journeying s and youth of the
1960s, the blissful dawn of what he and his contemporaries saw a pretty blank day. Through
psychedelic years he was a school boy in a depressed Lancashire cotton town. His father was a minor
official in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such redirection for Roland at first stage is non conscious repression of those feelings. He represses
those anxiety producing feelings to protect him against emotional issues which are probably the most
valuable and intuitively accessible picture of his internal mental that he has. Of course the painful
Memories and urges which are exiled to Roland s unconscious, will not fade. In fact they will continue
to have an influential effect on his behavior through whole his life. There are some forces, which try to
keep painful or socially undesirable thoughts and memories out of the conscious mind. These forces
are called defense mechanisms. There is a continuous combat between the wish (repressed into the id)
and the defense mechanisms. Defense mechanisms are used to protect one from feelings of anxiety or
guilt, which arise because one feels threatened, or because ones id or superego becomes too

  • 2. The Importance Of Life In The Nursing Home Anna Mae Halgrim Seaver felt powerless. The words she used to describe the nursing home facility and her treatment forced me to imagine myself in a nursing home. I have never experienced what Ms. Seaver went through, and I can assume that no nursing home facility has experienced it either. Above all, the main thing that could have been done to make her life more tolerable is educating the staff members of the facility and staff members in general in the health care field on what it is like to live in a nursing care facility. Imagine living the majority of your life as a teacher with a degree in music, or the founder of a multimillion dollar company, imagine having individuals learn from you and respect you throughout your life and then suddenly have that taken away. Educating staff on the importance of upholding respect for patients is important, we need to make every patient feel safe and being respectful plays a large part in doing so. The attitude towards her placement in the nursing home is more of a sad acceptance. Ms. Seaver understands she is getting older and that with aging you may lose control over your bowels or be unable to walk because your bones become a little weaker over time, but her mind is still there, yet she is treated as if she has lost it. Ms. Seaver accepts why she has been placed in a nursing home but she is incredibly unhappy that her independence and privacy has been taken away. I m not entirely sure if her family had other options. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, one misconception is that all Spanish or Latino cultures are the same. The differences between Mexico and other Latin American countries include 500 years of separate histories and their specific customs. These specific customs were present prior to their submission to the Spaniards. Although Spanish is the principal language spoken by most Hispanics, regional pronunciations and dialects differ in their speech patterns. Similarly, the Mexican cultures each have different dietary patterns. The traditional Mexican American diet is rich in a variety of foods and dishes that represent a blend of cultures. • 7. What Is John Steinbeck s Message In Of Mice And Men During the early years of the Great Depression, hundreds of thousands of American workers became out of work and began to travel across the country, in search of work, and the fabled American Dream. John Steinbeck s novel, Of Mice and Men, a historical fiction piece, follows the struggles of two such American workers, on their journey through the tumultuous era of the Great Depression. However the novel s message comes from the struggles of the two main characters, George and Lenny, and the actions they must take to overcome the obstacles in front of them. Steinbeck s purpose for writing the novel was to express his views on the American Dream and express his experiences through the characters he creates. The messages that Steinbeck conveys through his novel are how impossible it truly is to achieve the American Dream, and how it is the nature of man to prey on the weak; this message adding to the impossibility of the American dream, men making it impossible for their fellow man to succeed. As Steinbeck writes the novel, he imbues the story, with his own personal knowledge of the times, as much of the fictional setting comes from his own experiences supporting himself as a laborer in California, struggling to achieve his own American Dream. According to Robin Howard in Poliomyelitis and the Postpolio Syndrome (2005), the World Health Organization (WHO) discussed a significant drop in polio cases between 1988 and 2003 due to increased immunizations. WHO identified that although there was a drop from 350,000 to 900 cases worldwide, polio is still considered an epidemic in six third world countries. While its important to understand polio and its initial symptoms its equally important to understand that polio survivors may develop significant symptoms decades later; this classified as PPS. Suffers are more likely to have surgical procedures related to their age as a result of deterioration. Although polio has lost its grip on the world population as an imminent epidemic threat, the potential for anesthesia providers to encounter PPS patients is real and present. A social class is any person or group of people with the same educational, social or economical status. Social class can be broken down into many different categories such as race, age, gender, economic status, educational status and many more. Social class can be measured in many different ways such as financial status, family values, appearance, and demeanor. In America there are six main economical social classes which are the: Very poor, Poor, Working class, Middle class, Upper middle class, and the ruling class. The very poor class contains all citizens that have a very low economic status. Most have no economic security, are unemployed, and have no education after high school. • 22. Gender Socialisation Gender Socialisation refers to the lifelong social experience by which people develop their human potential and learn culture . (Macionis, 2012) In the society we live in today there is a strong difference between what is considered boy and what is considered girl . This is because from the time we are born, to the time we die we are expected to conform to a gender role. Gender socialisation is the development for boys and girls to be socialised differently. Boys are raised to conform to the male gender role, and girls are raised to conform to the female gender role. Behaviors, attitudes, and personality characteristics are gender roles, which are expected and encouraged of a person based on his or her sex . (Spark Notes, 2017) Today it is essentially believed that most gender differences are attributed to differences in socialisation, rather than genetic and biological factors . (Boundless, 2017). By gender socialisation, the simplest explanation is the process of learning what it means to be a male or female in the society, in which gender stereotypes and bias are usually involved. For example, boys should be tough, brave, strong, sporty, while girls on the other hand are soft, moody, passive, and allowed to cry. And another example girls are expected to be clean and quiet, while boys are messy and loud. Gender socialisation appears very early in childhood, and it is generally regarded as one of the most related issues. (Early Childhood, 2007) Children learn the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kids Must Do More Than Recite the Pledge of Allegiance Essay Children in the United States go through many years of school reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, but does it encourage loyalty in their nation or fear of it? The years that I spent in school reciting the pledge did little to instill patriotism in me. I do not even remember the words to it. Having a more hands on approach to community involvement would be a better way to teach children pride for their country. Encourage children to be concerned about their school, neighborhood, city and nation by letting them be a part of their community. Even with this ease, it seemed a more difficult task to figure out how the people should be governed. From that came the common idea of monarchy, ruling families commanding the populace with iron fists. Even when this was a commonplace form of government, members of the English court, specifically Sir Francis Bacon, found this form of rule to be unsatisfactory. To escape the watching steel eyes of the monarchy, Bacon and a few cohorts began to collaborate on plays to overthrow the rosy image the civilians had of royalty in the 17th century, giving the people the sight to see what corruption and shaky leadership would come of the royalties that held their country sway. The works of somebody known as William Shakespeare have been highly debated as to who wrote them, ever since the First Folio was published. One of the candidates for authorship is Sir Francis Bacon, a cog in the wheel of the pro republican machine. In his book, Contested Will: Who Wrote Shakespeare?, James Shapiro wrote about Sir Francis Bacon s motivation, There could be no mistaking their radical political agenda: these men were committed republicans whose plays were vindications against tyranny by another name, works produced for the ostensible purpose of illustrating and adorning the tyrannies which the men, under whose countenance and protection they were produced, were vainly attempting, or ... What the filmmaker wants to show their audience members, and how they wish to portray the city they are filming is what dictates what he or she chooses to focus in on, or graze over in their filmmaking process. Both A Bronx Morning and Manhatta capture the city of Manhattan in completely different yet similar ways, and this all has to do with the film makers choice of how to organize and present their material to their audience, yet they both manage to mystify New York City. The majority of previous mentioned treatments constitute to either restore the immune response or decline the plasma vireamia, however, this type of treatment is more likely to interfere with the HIV 1 structure. Before explaining how this category of drugs works, it is necessary to clarify the reaction between HIV 1 glycoproteins and CD4. Once the virus enters the body, HIV 1 envelope glycoprotein (gp120) attaches to a cellular CD4 receptor. As CD4/gp120 is formed, it allows gp120 to attache to chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5) or CX chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) allowing gp41, another viral envelope molecule, to insert into the target cell membrane leading to fusion the viral envelope and cellular membrane (Christopher et al., 2010). In a study which set out to determine the antiviral efficacy of Ibalizumab on HIV 1 positive patients not on (ART), (Christopher et al., 2010) found that the CD4 counts increase after one day of drug initiation even before the viral load decline. While shooting his gun for the first time Dave accidentally shoots his boss , Mr. Hawkins, mule, and the mule dies. The only reason Dave purchased a gun in the first place was to prove to the others in society, specifically those who worked alongside him at Mr. Hawkins plantation, that he was not a boy anymore, but rather a man. While working on Mr. Hawkins plantation Dave is often humiliated by the older workers because they think [he] ain t nothing but a boy (878). Also, the narrator states near the end of the story that a group of people that has gathered around the dead mule on the plantation laughs at Dave as he is walking away with tear filled eyes (886). Once again this emphasizes that he receives no respect from the others. Mr. Hawkins plantation is similar to the social environment in Harlem described in Sonny s Blues . Both ... • 44. What Happened To Disney Films Summary Disney movies are in themselves fairy tales meant to be enjoyed by young audiences and approved by parents concerned with how they re children are developing. In John Evans What s Happened to Disney Films? the author believes Disney films aren t what they used to be like. He argues that Disney has produced children movies that have overly dark villains such as Ursula from Little Mermaid whose bizarre appearance can strike fear into small children, and argues little mermaids has suggestive undertones. He makes a similar case for Aladdin, stating that several scenes could strike fear into children specifically the main antagonist Jafar who manipulates others violently for his own sinister agenda in the movie. He again states there s suggestive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He clearly is a devoted Christian which is fine, but getting upset over movies that depict other beliefs I find is too sheltering. I suppose I m more of a believer that everyone should go on their own path regardless of your parent s beliefs, of course when you reach an age where you can decide on your own. He was very negative towards all the movies that depicted any beliefs that weren t his own, bringing the idea that he s a close minded individual. I do agree Disney should refrain from putting suggestive material from their movies intended for children, but in that same mindset should we refrain from teaching of natural sciences that may depict material of the same nature. In the end censorship leads to a false sense of reality, like it or not people have sex and reproduce. Children will find all of this through studying animals in grade school, the idea of a stork bringing babies will only work for so long. His criticism of Little Mermaid is border line sexist; women should feel empowered by their bodies not ashamed of them. Regarding his feelings towards colonists being depicted rather monstrous in Pocahontas, what I recollect from history is colonists largely were monstrous. The romanticized version of the colonists shaking hands and having a nice Thanksgiving isn t how most encounters between the various tribes and settlers went. Colonists brought disease and war which leveled populations of natives; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. School Uniforms And The American Civil Liberties Union Of... Traditionally favored by charter and private schools, and institutions of the like, school uniforms are being introduced to public schools at an increasing rate. The First Amendment of the United States Constitution guarantees all citizens the right to express oneself; The American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada states that having a choice in clothing is ...Crucial form of self expression. The ACLU also argues that allowing students to choose their clothing is an empowering message from the schools that a student is a maturing person who is entitled to the most basic self determination, (Four Reasons). Self expression of style aside, choices in clothing are also a popular method of expressing support for any variety of social causes, ideologies, and affiliations, and school uniforms strip students of this option completely. Schools broadcast a mixed message of sorts when boasting their appreciation and encouragement for diversity, yet enforcing a standardized uniform which severely limits individuals from expressing this diversity. The Huffington Post published the argument of a Kyler Sumter, 16, of Lindblom Math and Science Acadamy in Chicago. Kyler argues They decide to teach us about people like Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony and Booker T. Washington... We learn how these people expressed themselves and conquered and we can t even express ourselves in the hallways, (Sumter). Arguments against school uniforms as a means of limiting self expression do not belong only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The East India Company ( Eic ) A corporation, as defined by the Business Dictionary, is a Firm that meets certain legal requirements to be recognized as having a legal existence, as an entity separate and distinct from its owners. One of the earliest known corporations was the East India company (EIC), receiving its Royal Charter from Queen Elizabeth I, in 1600, which granted it the right to incorporate during a time when most people were either sole proprietors or in partnerships. The EIC was a charter company whose most lucrative commodity was tea, opium and textiles. Their power and influence was unparalleled and unyielding, acting as a governing authority in places with weak or no governments. By taking control of the Bengal opium industry, they were able to trade opium for tea in China, using the excess gains to buy textiles in Bengal and use them to trade for slaves in Africa, which ultimately they sold for gold in America. These army backed bandits were above the law and beneath the bailout. By the time of their eventual demise, the world had changed and laws were put into place to prevent another EIC era, which better fit Ambrose Bierce s Devil s Dictionary description of a corporation as, an ingenious device for obtaining profit without individual responsibility . Introduction In this essay, I will discuss the basic requirements for starting a business corporation in China, and do the same for both India and the United States. I will further identify the level of complexity of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Psychological Resistance In A. S. Byatt s Possession Chapter three Psychological Resistance In more detail, A.S Byatt s Possession is redolent of certain aspects of Freudian psychology, more specifically, repression. In this novel the reader is told of the undertakings of the main character Roland Mitchell not only because of growing up in a society filled with a pretty blank day but because of growing up in the hands of a drunken mother. A.S Byatt writes that [H]e thought himself as a latecomer and adds: He (Roland) had arrived too late for things that were still in the air but vanished, the whole ferment and brightness and journeying s and youth of the 1960s, the blissful dawn of what he and his contemporaries saw a pretty blank day. Through psychedelic years he was a school boy in a depressed Lancashire cotton town. His father was a minor official in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such redirection for Roland at first stage is non conscious repression of those feelings. He represses those anxiety producing feelings to protect him against emotional issues which are probably the most valuable and intuitively accessible picture of his internal mental that he has. Of course the painful Memories and urges which are exiled to Roland s unconscious, will not fade. In fact they will continue to have an influential effect on his behavior through whole his life. There are some forces, which try to keep painful or socially undesirable thoughts and memories out of the conscious mind. These forces are called defense mechanisms. There is a continuous combat between the wish (repressed into the id) and the defense mechanisms. Defense mechanisms are used to protect one from feelings of anxiety or guilt, which arise because one feels threatened, or because ones id or superego becomes too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
