Gwyneth Paltrow Research Paper
Gwyneth Paltrow is both one of the best paid actresses in Hollywood, and one of the most polarizing.
Love her or hate her. Here are some facts you may not know about the actress! Stay tuned for part
two, coming soon.
Number Fifteen: She Lived in Spain
Paltrow loves Spain. She spent some time in the European country to learn Spanish while in her teen
years. She is still very close to her Spanish adoptive parents , from Talavera de la Reina, and she even
participated in the reality series Spain... on the Road Again in 2008, where she traveled around the
country trying different regional foods.

Abstract
Attribute reduction is a challenge in that is has a big e ect on classification accuracy as the classifier
training time, complexity and running time increases as a number of attributes used increases.
Commonly attributes in a given data set are correlated, noisy and redundant. In this work, a system for
attribute reduction was proposed making use of filter based attribute reduction using the correlation
based attribute reduction. The cuckoo search optimizer was used to search the attribute space of
attribute set with minimum correlation among selected attributes. By running the cuckoo search for a
predetermined ratio of iterations, the selected attribute sets are reevaluated using a new fitness
function based on wrapper based attribute reduction. The initial agents/solutions for this second stage
of optimization are guaranteed to have minor correlation and hence are the candidate for further
improvement towards the classification accuracy fitness function. So, the cuckoo search completes the
rest of optimization steps with the initial

How Does John Dunbar Create Identity In The Film Dances...
I am not scared of you! yelled Wind in His Hair towards John Dunbar. In the beginning of the film,
Dances with Wolves, Lieutenant John Dunbar identifies himself as a union soldier, but towards the
end of the film he is considered a Sioux leader. Over the course of the film the Sioux discover John
Dunbar is not a normal soldier, however he is still a white man. This change in identity is shown by
increasing Sioux language, making many Sioux relationships and in the change of John Dunbar s
name.
When John Dunbar first meets the Sioux they have trouble communicating with each other; by the end
of the film they are having fluent conversations. John Dunbar s first encounter with the Sioux is very
confusing and is misunderstood. The first thing that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However by the end of the film relationships grew and formed between the two groups of people. The
first time John Dunbar saw the Sioux people he was being yelled at by one of them. The Sioux were
afraid of the strange new white man and were not quite sure what to do with him. Eventually the
Sioux visited John Dunbar s post for a second time. This was the first time they started to understand
each other; a small amount of trust was formed. Over time John visited the Sioux area as well. He is
the first person who tells the Sioux where the buffalo have gone. This creates a bond between John
Dunbar and Wind in His Hair. The visits became more and more frequent; eventually John Dunbar
was invited to move in with the Sioux. At first he was hesitant with the idea but he accepted gladly in
the end. Along the way John Dunbar is introduced to Stands with a Fist, who he eventually calls his
wife. John s final step into becoming a Sioux is when he is leaving and Wind in His Hair is screaming
Dances with Wolves you are my friend. This means John Dunbar was no longer an outsider to the
Sioux; had become an important part in the Sioux

Fingerprint Recognition is One of the Oldest and Most...
Fingerprint recognition is one of the oldest and most Researched fields of biometrics. Biometrics is
the automated use of physiological or behavioral characteristics to determine or verify identity data
derived from direct measurement of a part of the human body. In areas of business, the identities of
personnel and employees needs to be verified .This is required for attendance .Thus there is restriction
on the access to computers for unauthorized users since there are no shared or compromised
passwords between the employees. Hundred of years back, fingerprints were used in the forensics and
crime branch investigations with the help of automatic fingerprint identification systems. A fingerprint
is a distinctive or identifying mark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This kind of minutiae based fingerprint recognition systems consists of two steps, i.e., minutiae
extraction and minutiae matching. In the minutiae matching process, the minutiae feature of a given
fingerprint is compared with the minutiae template, and the matched minutiae will be found out. If the
matching score exceeds a predefined threshold, the two fingerprints can be regarded as belonging to a
same finger.Such algorithms are the common ways to utilize the minutiae template for fingerprint
recognition. In various works, the authors have often showed that these kinds of methods cannot
provide enough distinguishing abilities for large scale fingerprint identification tasks hence the need
for edge detection arises. In our study we have tried to integrate the edge detection technique with this
minutia based method and tried to improve on the verification results of these algorithms. Edge
Detection is used to curtail the patterns found in a fingerprint image so that weget only the most
important information. Therefore the edge detected from its original image contains major information
which requires less amount of memory to store. Whenever there isspectacular and evident change of
pixels in the binaryimage for example, from grey to white, we say an edge is present. Edge detection
is a non trivial task because it is often very difficult to establish if the change in intensity between the
adjacent pixels is sufficient enough to be considered as an edge or not, hence

Thesis Statement Of Architectural Drawing
CHAPTER 1: THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
Introduction
An artist can make a cart with square wheels, but an architect can t Louis Kahn, American Architect.
An architectural drawing is a technical drawing of a structure or building. These are used by architects
to develop a design, to communicate their ideas and concepts, to convince clients, to enable a building
contractor to construct it, and to make a record of a building that already exists.
Drawing, sketches and animations are just some of non verbal languages used by architects to show
their works. Truly, architects communicate through drawings. Architecture students are going to be
doing a lot of drawing in their five years. Sketching and drawing will seems to be the foundation ...

It may help them to decide whether the students will continue pursuing architecture or not.
College Architecture Students
The study can also help the college architecture students to enhance their drawing skills. Also, this
research can encourage architecture students who have low confidence because they think that being
not good in drawing is a hindrance in succeeding.
College Architecture Professors
The College Architecture Professors will understand more the capabilities of each student. Professors
may conclude that not all the students have the talent or the same level of skills in drawing. This
research will increase the awareness of the professors about the differences of the students and how to
adjust to help them to enhance their drawing skills.
Future Researchers
The research can also be beneficial to the future researches since the information presented in the
study may be used as reference in conducting related researches. This study will also give them a
background and overview about the importance of drawing skills for architecture students.

Garage Door
How to test the balance of a garage door If you are having trouble with the garage door opening and
closing, it may be due to a problem with springs. When the springs are properly adjusted, the door is
balanced and can be opened easily with the garage door opener or manually. It is recommended that
you check the balance of the garage door at least once a year, especially if it is typically operated with
an opener. There are no tools required to test the balance, but if it isn t balanced correctly, to avoid
possible severe injuries call a professional to do the repairs. What Are Garage Door Springs? There
are many different parts that work together to make your garage door operate correctly, but the springs
play an extremely important role. The goal of the springs is to counteract the doors force of gravity,
which means the door spring is meant to make the door light enough for you to lift on your own
and/or for the power from the opener to lift it up easily. There are two primary types of residential
garage door springs; torsion springs and extension springs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In older homes that have less room in the garage, they may be mounted towards the rear of the garage.
Torsion springs, when installed and operating correctly are responsible for balancing the door.
Balanced in this cases basically means that the door should use the same amount of pressure to open
and close and be easy to manually lift. Torsion springs are designed to last a long time, but over time
they weaken and can break. Extension springs in most situations, these are mounted above the garage
door track. However, in some situations they may mounted vertically on the sides of the track.
Extension springs use the pulling force of the spring to pull the door upward, against

Schooled Gordon Korman Analysis
In the book Schooled written by Gordon Korman, we follow the story of a 14 teen year old named
Cap who has lived on a farm his entire life with his grandmother hippie, who is forced to leave his
farm because his grandmother got injured. Because of this he is forced to go into our society and go to
a normal middle school and live with his guidance counselor. And because he is very different, he is a
target in middle school and because of a tradition at that middle school, which elects the weirdest
person to be school president, he becomes school president. In the book there are many craft moves
that the author does, including symbolism, first person perspectives and multiple viewpoints, to
achieve goals such as supporting the theme, setting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This all obviously shows characters inter thinking and as previously mentioned sets up conflict,
however the first person narrative shows what multiple viewpoints does not. By utilizing first person
narrative in the text it shows what the character s motivation is. Multiple viewpoints doesn t shows the
character s motivation because we only see what they are thinking and saying and what kind of
problems they are having but we are not seeing what they want throughout the text. However first
person narrative shows what Cap s person s goal is and how they re going to achieve it. In the text, on
page 20, Cap says, I wonder if I can just go home and get out of this place. this really shows what
Caps motivation is, because of first person narrative, it can show what Caps interthinking is, which
can show his motivation. Another goal that the author tried tried to achieve was stirring empathy. We
se throughout the text, that Cap alwayed asked questions to himself about the world around him. It s
kind of dramatic irony because he asked questions about things that knows so little about and we see
everyday. So because of this the author makes the reader feel sorry for Cap because he is so clueless.
And by the author using first person narrative, we see Caps interthinking and his questions that he
asked himself. An example of this happening is on

Powerful Women In The Odyssey
Power is a curious concept that most people have or understand. When women experience power and
strength it is incredible and unique. In The Odyssey by Homer, there are a lot of powerful, strong
women. Women in this poem are tough, strong willed and are treated with the respect and seriousness
they deserve. (Bartleby 1). In this quote, it is talking about how women were treated well, but in
reality women were treated like wasted space. As Homer writes about women, they seemed to be
smarter than the men. The women know what to do, how to do it, and most importantly listen to what
other people say. When Hermes tells Calypso to let Odysseus go, she obeyed. She knew if she would
have ignored the gods, there would have been consequences. The men in this book aren t very good
listeners. When, Odysseus told his men not to eat the sun cattle, they didn t listen and they payed for it
with their lives. This is one of the many reasons Homer seems like a feminist. ... Show more content

Bed Bath And Beyond Pest Analysis
Bed Bath and Beyond is struggling in the current market. This PEST analysis is aimed at determining
what the major Political, Economic, Social, and Technological are in current business environment,
and how these factors are affecting the Home Goods Retail industry. The modern polarized political
sphere, especially in the United States, can mean that elections result in a massive change in policy,
especially regulatory reforms on businesses. With an increasingly global and fluctuating economy,
modern businesses need to be aware of everything from regional tax rates to international tariffs.
Social norms are changing rapidly and are different from region to region, meaning that modern
business needs to be aware of the social landscape they are operating in. Finally, the rate of
technological growth is the highest it has been in the history of the Earth. All of these rapidly changing
and nuanced factors need to be studied and well understood in order to run an efficient and effective
modern business. All of these four factors are imperative in understanding why Bed Bath and Beyond
is in its current financial situation.
Political
It seems as though our country has never been more divide and our two national parties seem to be
drifting further apart. This means there will need to be changed in our national or state legislatures.
Consequently, this can lead to a massive shift in government policy, especially that of business
regulation. The massive political factors

Reflexology Essay
Reflexology
What is reflexology
Reflexology is the theory that the human body can be healed from disease or imbalance through
pressure to specific points on the hands, feet, and ears
(http://www.doubleclickd.com/reflexology.html). This alternative form of healing is doubted by many,
although there are studies that support its theory.
History of Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient method of healing that originated in Egypt and the Orient. More than four
thousand years ago, man discovered this treatment for imbalance, and recorded their discovery in
drawings on cave walls. It is suggested that reflexology evolved from acupuncture and acupressure.
Reflexology flourished in the United Kingdom in the nineteenth ... Show more content on

Ingham began searching for specific parts of the feet that, when properly manipulated, had a positive
effect on another part of the body. Only through trial and error did she find universal locations on the
feet that effect all patients in the same way. She finally created a map of the feet, showing a
reflexology chart (http://www.lagunabeachca.com/reflexol.htm). The chart specifically diagrams each
area of the foot and its corresponding part of the body (http://happyfeet.com/kenkoh/reflx.html).
Cleaning the Blood through Reflexology
There are many theories as to the effectiveness of reflexology. According to their theory, toxins create
congestion in the bloodstream. The congestion prohibits the cleansing of the blood and causes deposits
of waste to form. These deposits build up and settle at the lowest point of blood flow, the feet. Over
time, the waste products build and harden, taking away all energy from the liquid flow of the
circulatory system. One other system in the body, the nervous system, gives energy. As the build up
increases in the feet, it puts pressure on the thousands of nerve endings that collect in the feet. This
causes poorer communication throughout the body (http://lagunabeachca.com/reflexol.htm) Breaking
up calcified deposits that have settled in the feet and hands, increases blood flow. Increased circulation
allows the blood to

Generation X And Millennials In The Workplace
Every work environment is teeming with people from various generations. Though, the majority of
people wish for a healthy work environment this is not the easiest to come by. People from these
different generations have different ways of looking at the world. They were raised differently and
though theoretically want the same things they want to reach these goals in different ways. Rising to
leadership, the understanding of technology, adapting in the workplace, and communication are the
four criteria you need to know to understand how the people of Generation X and Millennials function
together in the workplace. In a work environment everybody wants to climb the totem pole. For
Millennials, they want to rise to leadership without working too hard for it. They are trying to reach
the leadership positions as fast as they can and at times they are unprepared for the position they enter
because they have not experienced enough along the way. Where Millennials are too fast to rise to
leadership, people considered to be Generation X, who are known for their hard work ethic and
experience are often complacent in the workplace. Though they gained their experience (unlike
Millennials) by working their way up the chain of command and gradually paying their dues and
though they also do not expect to be handed a higher position, like Millennials who feel entitled to
higher positions in the workplace, they are also not as motivated as Millennials. (Bresman) To

Compare And Contrast Snow White And Ravenna
By fairest blood it is done, by fairest blood it is undone Snow white and the huntsman is the battle
between beauty and innocence for fairest blood. This is a four star dark twist to the traditional fairy
tale of the orphaned princess, Snow White (Kristen Stewart), and her escape from her step mother and
evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron). From the producers of Alice and the Wonderland, An Evil
Queen, Ravenna, tricks, seduces, and kills the king; she takes the kingdom and rules with intimidation
and magic. She draws her life force and youth from magic which is fuelled by the draining of other
beautiful young hearts and souls. Her life is to be the fairest in all of the land yet another has come of

Unlike the role she played in twilight, she has no other main characters to hold her up. She drains the
personality from Snow White in addition to the lack of importance felt in her character. This is
predominantly seen in the fight to the death scene with Snow White and Ravenna. While Theron oozes
fire and elegance, Stuart can t seem to capture a believable character. Snow White is supposed to be
innocence and humility in contrast to the Queens magic and pride. Her sharp angled face, greasy
voice, and empty facial expressions she was a flawed choice by the directors. Drunk, bitter and half
dead. The gorgeous Chris Hemsworth plays the in between of life and death as the Huntsman. Once
being a small point in the original brothers Grimm fairy tale, Hemsworth s huntsman has created a
new take on the contrast between the two main roles. This is greatly shown when he is pulled out of a
dirty tub of water with a hangover and a debt and he is brought to the queen s throne. When the queen
s guards draw spears against him he says Do me the favour, I beg of you. He can t stand to be alive
because the Queens magic killed his wife for her youth. Finn tells the Huntsman She screamed your
name but you weren t there. Now you can beg her forgiveness in the other world. Now as Snow White
lay dead the Huntsman begs for forgiveness from her I m so sorry I failed you. I m

crucial to winning a job. Not all job application letters will go directly to an employer. They may need
to go through a third party such as an employment agency, recruitment firm or job network agency.
This section identifies 8 different types of employment or job application letters you may need in your
job search such as prospecting letters for cold calling, letters to generate leads through networking,
and letters of interest to an employment agency: Each job search method will require you to write a
letter with different content. You need to be able to create a message with irresistible appeal to your

Genocide In The Ottoman Empire
The events of World War I in the Ottoman Empire, where approximately two million Christian
inhabitants were killed or disappeared traceless, are usually described as the 1915 genocide or the
Armenian genocide since the Armenians constituted up to 1.5 million of these victims. The genocide
practically emptied the Ottoman Empire and current Turkey from its Christian population, leaving an
almost entirely Muslim/Turkish Turkey. Genocide is considered to have been intended as a solution to
the Armenian Question, but also other minorities in the Ottoman Turkey, mainly Christian
Assyrians/Syrians/Chaldeans and Greeks suffered as well.
The massacres were an attempt to create a new homogenous Turkish state. The former ethnic and
religious diversity that characterized the Ottoman Empire, had in the accelerating decomposition of
the empire from early 1800s, disappeared, namely when the Christian nations in the Balkans began to
free themselves and proclaim independence. This made the Ottoman Empire, from being multi
religious, now converted to a virtually Muslim empire. It did not take long until the Arabs of North ...

Riboflavin Fluorescence Spectra Essay
Experiment Three Report
Riboflavin Fluorescence Spectra
Name: Holly
Experimental Section: Include all details on preparation of standard solutions. Also include the
vitamin tablet brand name; the listed mass of vitamin B2 per tablet; procedure used for extraction of
the tablet and dilutions performed.
The experiment began by determining the best wavelength at which to excite the riboflavin molecule,
by examining the graph given in the laboratory manual[1]. Because plastic cells that absorb UV light
were being used to hold the solutions, the wavelength had to be 320nm. To ensure that we could
clearly see the peak of the riboflavin fluorescence in the stock solution, the peak we chose to measure

absorption, excitation and fluorescence spectra maxima. Upload your spectra in this section. Figure 1.
Fluorescence vs Wavelength graph of Riboflavin 50ppb Stock Solution
The first part of the experiment involved graphing the fluorescence intensity of a 50ppb
Riboflavin stock solution. The wavelength to begin measuring from was based on two factors, the fact
that the plastic UV cells that were being used absorbed light up to 320nm, and that the molecule
needed to absorb light very strongly, and needed to be seen clearly on the graph. Thus, reading the
graph provided in the lab manual[1], it could be seen that there was a peak at around ~450nm which
would easily be able to be seen without interference from the plastic cells. In the sample measured
from the stock solution, the peak occurred at a
wavelength of 523.52nm and reached a peak of 115.52.
The excitation spectrum was then measured on the same graph. The wavelength at which the peak
occurred on the fluorescence spectrum was entered into the program, and a scan range from 350nm to
800nm was used. The excitation spectrum had two peaks, the first occurring at a wavelength of
366.15nm

Conversions of Alcohols to Alkyl Halides
Conversions of Alcohols to Alkyl Halides: 1 Propanol and 2 Pentanol Introduction One way scientist
gets alkyl halides is by using the manipulation of an alcohol. When alcohols are treated with HBr or
HCl; they can undergo a nucleophile substation reaction to generate an alkyl halide and water2. Using
the structure of the alcohols they are able to use SN1 or SN2 mechanisms. For both these mechanisms
though, the OH group must be pronated shown in Figure 1. R OH + H Br + R OH2 +Br Figure 1. This
figure is the protonation of the OH group from the alcohol SN1 is a limiting mechanism that is a
unimolecular nucleophic substation reaction. In this mechanism it involves two steps, one in which the
leaving group leaves and then forms a carbocation intermediate, shown in figure 2. Then it is able to
break bonds between carbon and making it able for carbon to leave the group before the bond forming
with nucleophile begins1. R OH2 R+ + H2O Br Figure 2.In this figure it shows the cation
intermediate that is forming and the attack of Br resulting in the production of RBr While the

Narrative In Rashomon
The Curious Case of Rashomon
When a samurai is murdered and his wife is raped in the woods it is necessary for the courthouse to
find the murderer and bring punishment upon him according to the law. Albeit this is seemingly a
typical murderer solving case film it is the method of narration that makes the film differ from others.
Rashomon is a famous Japanese film by Akira Kurosawa that tells a story of the same circumstance in
four different versions according to the story teller. This particular type of narrative is so intriguing
resulting for it to become its own effect. Not only is Rashomon famous for its narrative but also how it
reflects and reveal many aspects about truth and lies.
While it may not look like it, it can be seen that there are three main frames to this narrative. The big
story or the main frame of narrative is at the gate of Rashomon where a woodcutter, a priest, and a
commoner are discussing the samurai s murder cases. The woodcutter begins the film by telling the
background and the general story about the cause of his confusion about the case. The second frame
narrative is consists of the bandit s story, the wife s story, and the samurai s story told through a
medium. In between each of the flashbacks the film returns to its main narrative of the film at the gate
of Rashomon with the mean discussing each of the accounts. However, thinking about it closely it can

What Are The Basic Concepts Of Liberty Each Civilized...
What are the basic concepts of liberty each civilized individual reserves? What are the limits to which
a person can accept and exercise such sovereignty? In the first chapter, Introductory , and the second,
Of the Liberty of Thought and Discussion , J.S Mill displays such limits and provides an analysis and
debate to the common concepts of how an individual works within a society, while simultaneously
diverging into how society works with and against a sole figure. In On Liberty, he construes the
conflict between liberty and authority and administers the historical diversity amongst social classes.
Within the Introductory chapter, Mill definitively expresses the extensive history of the struggles of
authority versus liberty. He sets this with time periods as far back as ancient Greece, Rome, and
England. The hierarchy of classes sets the precedence for the amount of liberty an individual reaps.
Mill explains, ... [the government s] power was regarded as necessary, but also as highly dangerous; as
a weapon which they would attempt to use against their subjects... (Mill 2). This exertion of power left
the lower classes weak, with a minimal say in government. By inheritance of power, the lack of
expression in lower classes consistently remained throughout the years. This is the initial claim from
Mill, that wealthier individuals maintained the most liberty in early societies, due to possessing the
most money. To oppose this, patriots attempted to limit the set

The group is made up of six people they are Siu, Wing, Olivia, Shae, Shelby and I (Min).
Johnson and Johnson (2013) argued that group as a number of individual who join together to share or
serve various purposes including goal, independence and interpersonal interaction, structured
relationship. Finley (2002) categorized the types of therapy group as activity groups and support
groups. Activity group mainly incorporated into task and/or social component. Task groups focus on
developing skills and tend to produce individual and the end products.
In fact, the group is formed based on the task group to complete any tasks required in each lab session
in the meantime each member is able to develop their skills participates in the group work and
contribute the ideas of the final products. All the group members get together to achieve a goal in each
activity. For example, the group goal is to build the tallest Spaghetti Tower to beat the other groups in
the Spaghetti Tower activities. The group members are also interdependent and interpersonal
interaction with each other to understand the rules or instruction in each task. For example, when we

Dolly the Sheep in 1997, research of human cloning has been on the edge of the seat. It brings many

The Word Folly In Advertising Campaign Analysis
In agonizing over the use of the word folly in its advertising campaign, it was necessary that New

your thought process is distorted, which hinders appropriate decisions, of which many drinkers enjoy.
A study conducted revealed that beer drinkers consume alcohol to relieve stress, relax their minds, and

The Values Of A College Is A Community College

Religious Rights And Gay Rights
As stated directly in the Constitution, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of

fact that some feel sexual orientation ties into religious beliefs. There are some people who are in

article that, In certain cases, extending new rights to LBGT workers will necessarily lead to religious
freedom objections, and vice versa. No matter what side you agree with in the controversy of same sex
marriages, it is important to remember that the Constitution states, all men are created equal , therefore
we must handle this controversy in a way that everyone is treated equaled in the eyes of the law.
Girgis and Anderson, the writers of What is Marriage? Man and Woman: A Defense, are against same
sex marriages. Their view on same sex marriage is considered traditional. The framework that Girgis
and Anderson erect for for approaching questions of religious liberty is that when analyzing claims
based on theoretical accounts of the values served by religious liberty and antidiscrimination we can
achieve win win outcomes by respecting the moral and religious liberty claims in the debate without
undoing anyone s legitimate policy goals. Personally, I disagree

Porsche is a company that prides itself in quality and customer satisfaction. Because of this customers
are always considered to be first priority for the company. The only issue with this business method is
that the shareholders do not feel valued. Porsche operates more like a family owned firm instead of
focusing mainly on shareholder value. While operating like a family owned firm may be admired by
some, it also has a downside. The company has been somewhat infamous for occasional stubbornness
when it comes to disclosure and compliance with reporting requirements. Following these guidelines

2. Vesi wondered if her position on Porsche might have to distinguish between the company s ability
to generate results for stockholders versus its willingness to do so. What do you think?
We think all companies should take shareholders value into consideration as long as they issue stocks
publicly traded, and thus need to have some ability to at least stimulate the shareholders interest or
curiosity. Yet a company still has a choice whether to actually focus on its shareholders value like
other companies do. This Porsche s case clearly explains its unique managerial/marketing strategy that
the company essentially focuses on cost control, development of new products, and brand loyalty and
high quality of its automobiles that arouse customers desire to possess. Therefore, in our opinion,
Porsche doesn t put its shareholders value on the first priority, but it still has to show some returns
(results) for its shareholders.
3. Is pursuing the interests of Porsche s controlling families different from maximizing the return to its
public share owners?
Pursuing the interests of Porsche s controlling families seems different from maximizing the return to
its public share owners because in general increasing owner s interests doesn t necessarily mean
maximizing shareholders interests. Like other companies

Zoot Suit Essay
The play is titled Zoot Suit because the clothing transcends the play. It could either represent historic
Chicano style or criminal garb. The zoot suit comes to represent the struggle of Mexican Americans to
be accepted into American culture. This play shines light on that struggle, not just a single murder
case, but the broader cultural impact that the zoot suit had.
The zoot suit is critical to the story s progression. The family conversation before the dance show the
intergenerational conflict between the kids and parents. The mother and father are against Henry,

the entire culture became vigilant to anyone wearing a zoot suit. The press causes this state of fear in

though they are portrayed to us as protagonists.
The discrimination towards the pachuco and zoot suit culture can be seen in the trial. Now that the
press has labeled the zoot suit as a criminal outfit, having the boys in court wearing the zoot suit adds
to the anger towards the boys. They are perceived as dirty Mexicans by the jury and their peers.
George notes that the system is unfair, having the boys ungroomed and in controversial clothes would
lead to an unfair trial. This adds fuel against the Chicano culture. The zoot suit and those who wear it
become the target for racism during Act 6. We can see the press is out to frame zooters as the enemy.
They are relentlessly racist and use their power to demean El Pachuco. This angers El Pachuco and
leads him to fight and be stripped of his luxorious zoot suit, being belittled to nothing. This
symbolizes pachuco culture going at war with the press and losing because of the power they have to

The Tax Should Be Replaced With A Lifetime Accessions Tax...
The estate tax is a tax upon your right to transfer property at the time of your death. It is often called
the death tax and it has been a partisan point of disagreement for quite some time. As the tax only
applies to estates of $5.45 million and over, this tax only applies to the wealthy. Enacted in 1916 to
help finance World War I, the estate tax has come under more scrutiny lately because of our
government s financial situation and the one hundredth anniversary (Caron 825). The intellectual
world is divided on whether to repeal, reform, or keep unchanged the estate tax. Some even argue that
transfers of wealth should not be taxed at all. This essay will contend that the current estate tax should
be replaced with a lifetime accessions tax to encourage donors, reduce concentrations of wealth, and
safeguard equality of opportunity. Additionally, this paper will compare the lifetime accessions tax to
other proposed alternatives. In place for over one hundred years now, the estate tax was put into place
to do more than just finance World War I. In 1916, there were extremely wealthy families, such as the
Vanderbilt s and the Carnegie s, that dominated industries and held a large portion of the nation s
wealth. Part of the purpose of the estate tax was to curb massive amounts of inter generational wealth
that was common amongst these families. The government saw the money being passed down from

Carbon-14 Dating
The key principle behind radiocarbon 14 dating is plants and animals exchange carbon with their
surroundings and thus contain the same ratio of carbon 12 to carbon 14 once an organism dies it no

The Cuckoo Search Guided By Correlation And Classi Cation... 20th International Conference on Knowledge Based and Intelligent Information and Engineering Systems Cuckoo Search Guided by Correlation and Classification Accuracy for Dimensionality Reduction Waleed Yamany a a,c, , E. Emary b , Aboul Ella Hassanien Fayoum University, Faculty of Computers and Information, Fayoum, Egypt b Cairo University, Faculty of Computers and Information, Cairo, Egypt c Scientific Research Group in Egypt (SRGE) b,c Abstract Attribute reduction is a challenge in that is has a big e ect on classification accuracy as the classifier training time, complexity and running time increases as a number of attributes used increases. Commonly attributes in a given data set are correlated, noisy and redundant. In this work, a system for attribute reduction was proposed making use of filter based attribute reduction using the correlation based attribute reduction. The cuckoo search optimizer was used to search the attribute space of attribute set with minimum correlation among selected attributes. By running the cuckoo search for a predetermined ratio of iterations, the selected attribute sets are reevaluated using a new fitness function based on wrapper based attribute reduction. The initial agents/solutions for this second stage of optimization are guaranteed to have minor correlation and hence are the candidate for further improvement towards the classification accuracy fitness function. So, the cuckoo search completes the rest of optimization steps with the initial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In areas of business, the identities of personnel and employees needs to be verified .This is required for attendance .Thus there is restriction on the access to computers for unauthorized users since there are no shared or compromised passwords between the employees. This kind of minutiae based fingerprint recognition systems consists of two steps, i.e., minutiae extraction and minutiae matching. In the minutiae matching process, the minutiae feature of a given fingerprint is compared with the minutiae template, and the matched minutiae will be found out. If the matching score exceeds a predefined threshold, the two fingerprints can be regarded as belonging to a same finger.Such algorithms are the common ways to utilize the minutiae template for fingerprint recognition. In various works, the authors have often showed that these kinds of methods cannot provide enough distinguishing abilities for large scale fingerprint identification tasks hence the need for edge detection arises. In our study we have tried to integrate the edge detection technique with this minutia based method and tried to improve on the verification results of these algorithms. Edge Detection is used to curtail the patterns found in a fingerprint image so that weget only the most important information. Therefore the edge detected from its original image contains major information which requires less amount of memory to store. Whenever there isspectacular and evident change of pixels in the binaryimage for example, from grey to white, we say an edge is present. Edge detection is a non trivial task because it is often very difficult to establish if the change in intensity between the adjacent pixels is sufficient enough to be considered as an edge or not, hence ... When the springs are properly adjusted, the door is balanced and can be opened easily with the garage door opener or manually. It is recommended that you check the balance of the garage door at least once a year, especially if it is typically operated with an opener. There are no tools required to test the balance, but if it isn t balanced correctly, to avoid possible severe injuries call a professional to do the repairs. What Are Garage Door Springs? There are many different parts that work together to make your garage door operate correctly, but the springs play an extremely important role. The goal of the springs is to counteract the doors force of gravity, which means the door spring is meant to make the door light enough for you to lift on your own and/or for the power from the opener to lift it up easily. There are two primary types of residential garage door springs; torsion springs and extension springs. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Odyssey by Homer, there are a lot of powerful, strong women. Women in this poem are tough, strong willed and are treated with the respect and seriousness they deserve. (Bartleby 1). In this quote, it is talking about how women were treated well, but in reality women were treated like wasted space. As Homer writes about women, they seemed to be smarter than the men. The women know what to do, how to do it, and most importantly listen to what other people say. When Hermes tells Calypso to let Odysseus go, she obeyed. She knew if she would have ignored the gods, there would have been consequences. The men in this book aren t very good listeners. Cleaning the Blood through Reflexology There are many theories as to the effectiveness of reflexology. According to their theory, toxins create congestion in the bloodstream. The congestion prohibits the cleansing of the blood and causes deposits of waste to form. These deposits build up and settle at the lowest point of blood flow, the feet. Over time, the waste products build and harden, taking away all energy from the liquid flow of the circulatory system. One other system in the body, the nervous system, gives energy. As the build up increases in the feet, it puts pressure on the thousands of nerve endings that collect in the feet. The wavelength to begin measuring from was based on two factors, the fact that the plastic UV cells that were being used absorbed light up to 320nm, and that the molecule needed to absorb light very strongly, and needed to be seen clearly on the graph. Thus, reading the graph provided in the lab manual[1], it could be seen that there was a peak at around ~450nm which would easily be able to be seen without interference from the plastic cells. In the sample measured from the stock solution, the peak occurred at a wavelength of 523.52nm and reached a peak of 115.52. The excitation spectrum was then measured on the same graph. What are the limits to which a person can accept and exercise such sovereignty? In the first chapter, Introductory , and the second, Of the Liberty of Thought and Discussion , J.S Mill displays such limits and provides an analysis and debate to the common concepts of how an individual works within a society, while simultaneously diverging into how society works with and against a sole figure. In On Liberty, he construes the conflict between liberty and authority and administers the historical diversity amongst social classes. Within the Introductory chapter, Mill definitively expresses the extensive history of the struggles of authority versus liberty. He sets this with time periods as far back as ancient Greece, Rome, and England. The hierarchy of classes sets the precedence for the amount of liberty an individual reaps. Mill explains, ... This exertion of power left the lower classes weak, with a minimal say in government. By inheritance of power, the lack of expression in lower classes consistently remained throughout the years. Vesi wondered if her position on Porsche might have to distinguish between the company s ability to generate results for stockholders versus its willingness to do so. What do you think? We think all companies should take shareholders value into consideration as long as they issue stocks publicly traded, and thus need to have some ability to at least stimulate the shareholders interest or curiosity. Yet a company still has a choice whether to actually focus on its shareholders value like other companies do. This Porsche s case clearly explains its unique managerial/marketing strategy that the company essentially focuses on cost control, development of new products, and brand loyalty and high quality of its automobiles that arouse customers desire to possess. Therefore, in our opinion, Porsche doesn t put its shareholders value on the first priority, but it still has to show some returns (results) for its shareholders. 3. It is often called the death tax and it has been a partisan point of disagreement for quite some time. As the tax only applies to estates of $5.45 million and over, this tax only applies to the wealthy. The intellectual world is divided on whether to repeal, reform, or keep unchanged the estate tax. Some even argue that transfers of wealth should not be taxed at all. This essay will contend that the current estate tax should be replaced with a lifetime accessions tax to encourage donors, reduce concentrations of wealth, and safeguard equality of opportunity. Additionally, this paper will compare the lifetime accessions tax to other proposed alternatives. In place for over one hundred years now, the estate tax was put into place to do more than just finance World War I. Part of the purpose of the estate tax was to curb massive amounts of inter generational wealth that was common amongst these families.
