Essay on Why Girls Become Strippers
Why Girls Become Strippers
For years men and women alike have wondered the same question, that is, Why do girls become
strippers? Well, there are three main reasons. The first reason being the opportunity for monetary gain
to better their future. In Ganttageep s article, Exotic Dancing: Illusion and Fantasy, An Exotic Dancers
Path to Power , he shows this desire for money in this following quote, When asked why they got into
the world of exotic dancing many women state that money is the main reason, (Ganttageep.) In
addition, there own personal desires play a huge role in their life changing decision. Finally, previous
experiences in life and their skills and attributes greatly affect girls in their decision to become
strippers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I asked Tiffany, Why did you decide to become a stripper in the first place?, (See Appendix I.) She
told me that above all else the decision was money driven, Mostly financial reasons.... I needed the
money at the time, (See Appendix I.) She also told me that she didn t like to strip, I hate it, but I don t
really have a choice, (See Appendix I.), and only did it as a temporary means of quick money. Then
Tiffany proceeded to tell me in our interview that many girls who are strippers are people who have
become addicted to the money, You get addicted to the money, (
I believed that she was quite a valid source of information because she has worked at around five to
six strip clubs, varying from holes in the ground to upscale gentlemen s clubs. She seemed like a great
person. She was nothing like what the media and society portray strippers to be, which is a dirty
women with loose or no morals or self respect. In the news article published by BBC News the
following was said, Morals are loose as it is and frankly I just want to enjoy a drink without looking at
another one of England s problems dancing in my face, (BBC News.) This quote shows peoples
negative views on the topic of stripping. If you saw her on the streets you would never guess what she
did for a profession. From what I have found, especially in the older generations, a majority of society
have never been to a strip club, they just look down upon this industry as one that is dirty and a

The Effect Of Suppression And The Consequences Of The...
Wegner, Schneider, Carter first studied suppression in 1987, defining it as a conscious effort used to
direct attention away from a thought. Controlled research were only conducted after their famous
study of the white bear , with most research concluding that suppressive thoughts would actually make
these thoughts more invasive. The current essay draws on example from normal and clinical research
to show the paradoxical effect of suppression and the resulting detrimental outcomes.
In the study of Wegner et al, participants were asked not to think about white bear for five minutes.
During this time, they were asked to verbalise their thoughts and ring a bell every time they though
about a white bear. This was called the suppression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Baumeister et al (1998), these resources are limited and can be depleted temporary. This
suggests that those who had been constantly suppressing thoughts, (e.g.) keeping secrets, or
suppressing thoughts of a secret relationship, might find additional suppression more difficult. Also,
those who had a smaller capacity for active volition (Baumeister et al, 1998) would find suppression
less effective as they might sustain the exclusion of thoughts or the distraction from the target thought
for a shorter period of time. Furthermore, despite obtaining significant results to prove that suppressed
thoughts are not at all inhibited, the generalizability of the result remained questionable; one could
effectively argue that the contradictory effect was provoked by the instruction to ring a bell whenever
the target thought occurred.
On this note, the paradoxical effects of thought suppression has been found to extend from thoughts of
white bears (Wegner et al, 1978), to more realistic conditions, for example the attack of a grizzly bear
(Rassin, Merckelbach an Muris, 1997). In the study of Rassin et al, participants were shown a three
minute video clip of a tourist being attacked by a grizzly bear. The video finished by finishing with an
ambiguous ending so that participants were left uncertain whether the tourist survived the vigorous
attack, it was also recorded deliberately in the form of accidental real life footage to heighten the
emotion impact. By using an

Characters In Alice Munro s Differently
In Alice Munro s short story Differently, the main character Georgia recounts memories of Maya and
their fallout when she visits her friend s widowed husband many years later. Upon her visit, her mind
is flooded with memories of friendship, infidelity, and broken trust which inevitably disconnected her
from Maya and Ben (Georgia s husband). Throughout the text, the author highlights the main
character s inability to filter through many details as she describes the end of various relationships
following Maya s betrayal. The author s thorough description of settings, characters, and events
emphasizes Georgia s difficulty in focusing on what details of her life are important, as most of them
seem important to her.
The opening words of Alice Munro s Differently introduce the style the author uses throughout the
short story: Georgia once took a creative writing course, and what the instructor told her was: Too
many things. Too many things going on at the same time; also too many people [...] What do you want
us to pay attention to? Think (Munro 1). These lines echo in the mind of the reader as they dive further
into the text, reading about too many things and meeting too many people.
Munro introduces Georgia, Raymond, Maya, Ben, Harvey, Anne, Hilda and her former creative
writing instructor all within the first few pages. The role of each character (aside from the creative
writing instructor) is clouded with the details of their physical appearance or small mannerisms.

The Importance Of The CSI Effect On Crime Scene Investigation
Introduction Television has been around for years making money off of the public s interests. Starring
shows such as CSI Miami, Forensic Files, Cold Case, Bones, and many more demonstrate the
procedures of forensic science at active crime scenes. However, these shows have given the wrong
perception of forensic science and the procedures to investigating an active crime scene. These
television shows have made a lasting impact on the public s perception of Crime Scene Investigation
still today. Often times these shows have made it difficult for judges, attorneys, lawyers, and juries to
understand forensic science. CSI Effect Crime Scene Investigations are fascinating to the public and
have been portrayed on television for many years. These television shows have influenced how the
public perceives the procedures of investigating crime scenes. Forensic science and investigating a
crime scene is a very complex and unique career. Television has exaggerated and wrongly influenced
the perception of forensic science, crime scene investigation, and procedures in criminalistics. The
effect that these crime scene television shows have on the public is called the CSI Effect (Shelton,
2008). The CSI effect can lead to jurors wrongly acquitting an individual because they believe the job
wasn t thorough enough. There are more than 100 million viewers who watch television shows about
scientific evidence in criminal cases (Shelton, 2008). The general public assumes what they

Income Inequality In America
Jack Flanagan 12 15 14
Religion 3 Period A
Income Inequality The problem of income inequality is one that is very prevalent in this time in
America. The disparity of wealth in this country is very vast and a growing problem. These problems
of income inequality are taking away peoples aspect human dignity, this is a major moral issue
because everyone is entitled to human dignity and when it is taken away from them that is moral
wrong. Additionally this is an issue in which the Church is very involved in. Additionally President
Obama in his State of the Union Address back in January also made note of the problems in the nation
with regards to income inequality and the minimum wage. The United States Catholic Conference ...

They believe that all people were created and deserved to be treat as so also. In this the church
believes that all people deserve an equal chance to work and provide a living for not only themselves
but their families as well. According to the USCCB the bottom 50% controls just 4.5% of the overall
wealth in this country and that is not an even distribution of wealth. This means that those people who
are in the bottom 50% do not have the same opportunities as the others because simply put they do not
control nearly close to the same amount of money. Additionally the top 10% of people s income has
increased by over 200% since 1948 while the other 90% has increased by only 100%. This shows that
the top 10% s wealth has increased by double the amount the rest of the population has, meaning that
the disparity of wealth in the nation is only begun to increase during the last 66 years. This is one of
the problems that the Church has addressed because if people are living in poverty but still trying to
work full time they are not being treated equally and to say that this is okay is morally

The New England And Chesapeake Colonies
The seventeenth century brought plenty of changes to North America. One of the most significant
ones was the formation of the thirteen colonies along the North American east coast. These colonies
are generally divided into New England, Middle and South or the Chesapeake regions. Most of these
colonies were settled by the British, yet they developed differently as the years went by. Some
developed into more egalitarian colonies and some not. The greatest differences could be seen in the
New England and Chesapeake regions. Even though the New England and Chesapeake regions were
settled originally by The British, they had their own differences which were influenced by many of
factors, including the reasons they were founded, their social ... Show more content on

These colonies all had economic factors that contributed to their founding. These factors later
developed into different customs and traditions which led to the varied differences between the New
England and Chesapeake colonies.
The differences between these colonies also arose due to different opinion on functioning of the
government and ideologies. New England, being majorly settled by the Puritans, was intolerant to all
other religions. The one exception to this was the colony of Rhode Island. Because it was settled by a
dissenter from the Massachusetts Bay colony, it was the only New England colony to have complete
religious freedom. Most of the New England based groups wanted to reform the Anglican Church
from inside. The Chesapeake region was completely tied to the Anglican Church and did not care
about reforming it in any way. The New England colonies also had a large central government which
allowed for their administrations to be more organized and uniform throughout the region. This idea
came from the Mayflower Compact signed at Plymouth by the Pilgrims. The American Pageant
describes it as, It was simple agreement to form a crude government and submit to the will of the
majority under the regulations agreed upon (Bailey 47 ). According to Document A,

Women Hollering Creek And The Boarding House Essay
What is a good relationship? Many people get asked this question every day and there are many
different answers. Throughout history love and lust has been a very interesting topic to write about or
in portraying in writings. Two stories that portray love in a different light, that are intriguing, is The
Boarding House by James Joyce and Women Hollering Creek by Sandra Cisneros. These so called
love stories main theme is disillusionment. The Boarding House and Women Hollering Creek both
have a conflict, thematic development, and the epiphanies.
The Boarding House is a story that starts off in the beginning with complications, but the main
conflict of the story is that Mrs. Mooney, Mr. Doran, and Polly all want different thing. Mrs. Mooney,
mother of Polly, want to find a husband for Polly. She wants to bring Polly out of the lower social
class and to find her a marriage that will not end in failure like Mrs. Mooney did. Polly also wants a
relationship, but is going about it all wrong. Polly is ruining her reputation in the processes. Mr. Doran

Disillusionment plays a big role though out this story. Disillusionment is the discovery that one thing
was not as good as it was before. Disillusionment is revealed when Mr. Doran understood that the
affair was not as good as it once seemed. He went to the priest to figure out what to do for he had
sinned. The story stated ... the priest had drawn out every detail of the affair and in the end had so
magnified his sin that he was almost thankful at being afforded a loophole of reparation (p.418). The
priest had further exposed his disillusionment about the affair. The priest help shed more light on the
subject and had brought him to rationalization. The theme for Women Hollering Creek is the same as

Grief In The Story Of Tom Brennan By J. C Burk
The novel The Story Of Tom Brennan by J.C Burk is about the aftermath of drink driving and the
effects it has on the families. This review aims to highlight why I believe the themes of loss, grief, and
conflict are so significant to my generation when discussing the issue surrounding drink driving. I
found this book not relatable, to me Tom wasn t realistic. Personally, I don t find Toms character to be
unrealistic, he was too dramatic and his reactions to situations were unreasonable. The novel has
redeeming aspects when it come to Joe, Kylie, Brendan and Gran were more realistic to me, these
characters drew me in more. The Loss is presented throughout the novel. The Story of Tom Brennan
shows the families dealing with some form of loss after the drink driving incident. Luke and Nicole s
families both lose their children from the accident. Luke and Nicole s families both lost seeing their

Trends In African-American Music
There are many different genres or categories of music. These can range from the smooth layered
sound of classical music to the harsh thrashy sound of heavy metal in a seemingly endless list of
geners and sub genres. Amongst these genres few have been as influential in contemporary music as
the Blues. The blues can be attributed as being the foundation for many modern generes including
rock and roll and jazz. (Nicole 2005)
The blues are often known for their meloncholic overtones and simplistic chord progressions. These
characteristic are a direct result of the genres origins. During the 19th century in southern America
black slave groups would often sing work songs to pass the time and maintain a steady work pace.
These field hollers were songs with simple meloncholic lyrics, often using a call and response style in
full a capella.(Oliver 1969) The 1890s was a pivitol time in african american history. It saw the change
from black slave labour to paid manual labour bringing with it a sense of indivdualaity for the african
american people.(Davis 2003) In turn using the influences of the old work songs and the current
western trends in music the early blues were formed.

Biomimicry is a New Science to Solve Human s...
Biomimicry
What is biomimicry?
From bios, meaning life, and mimesis, meaning to imitate Biomimicry is a new science where
entrepreneurs imitate nature s time tested processes, systems and designs to solve human s
sustainability problems.
Sustainability Problem
The sustainability problem referred to in this research project is the high energy consumption of air
conditioners in industrial facilities but also in households and its global and personal health problems
(National Geographic online).
There is too much money and electricity spent on air conditioning all around the world, and
percentages are rising. Air conditioners have a negative impact on the environment as they can release
refrigerants into the atmosphere, which deplete the ozone layer.
Health hazards can also occur if air conditioners are not maintained properly, as dirty filters allow
allergens and pesticides to enter house and buildings.
Nature s solution
Termites build some of the most impressive structures in the animal world, consisting of materials
such as soil, dung and termite saliva and can be 8m high. The extremely porous walls allow
ventilation and cooling systems, due to outside air being able to permeate the entire structure.
Hypothesis: Modeling houses, offices, malls and other large buildings according to the principles of
termite mounds would serve as a sustainable solution, as it would save money and decrease the
amount of energy consumption.

The Roots Of The Enlightenment
Between the years of 1685 1815 the focus of European thought had drastically shifted as a result of

of the enlightenment sprang about during the time of the Renaissance. Enlightenment thinkers such as
David Hume, Voltaire, and Jean Jacques Rousseau questioned the traditional ways of authority, and
looked to improve mankind with logical changes. The American Revolution, was partially due to
members of the enlightened sect, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. The Enlightment roots

Pre Screening For Disabilities And Genetic Enhancement
Pre screening for disabilities and genetic enhancement are vital factors in the decision to place
restrictions for selective genetic abortion. All human life should be of equal worth, supporting the

transgression of divine laws, transgression of natural laws, introduction of an unacceptable risk of
harm, introduction of a threat to genetic diversity, introduction of a threat to one s common genetic
heritage, paradoxical counterproductively, a misuse of social resources, a widened gap between the
haves and have nots , promotion of social conformity and homogeneity, and lastly undermining free
choice (Fisher, 2013). From these points it is important to recognize the impact it has upon our society,
and how we perceive, and behave towards those with a disability. The practise of introducing selective
abortion through the use of IVF and genetic testing will create a hostile environment going forward
into the future for those who escape detection before birth. This will cause potential discrimination
against those with a disability, making them liable to be looked down upon by the community and
unfit to be alive (Fisher, 2013). Thus this can create a second class or even a

The Wright Brothers Essay
The Wright Brothers The world was changed on December 17, 1903 when Orville Wright flew the
first airplane for a period of 12 seconds. Orville, born in 1871 and his brother Wilbur, born in 1867
grew up in Dayton Ohio with two other brothers, Reuchlin and Lorin and one sister Katherine. They
grew up in a loving family, which helped the brothers with the success in their future. Many people
are not aware that much of their knowledge that went into the makings of the airplane came from their
mother Susan and the bicycle repair shop they owned. Interestingly, Wilbur and Orville were not the
men who first thought of flying. In the 16th century, Leonardo de Vinci had thoughts of a flying
machine that was ahead its time, though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for Orville, he did not enjoy or excel in school, as had his brother. He was an average student. He
was problematic, and his behavior caused him to drop out of high school in his junior year. He
developed aspirations to start a printing press firm. The brothers built their own press with cheap
parts, and used it to print their own newspaper as well as other printing jobs. Their attempt at the firm
was unsuccessful, so the boys bought a bicycle shop in 1893. This bike shop became a place where
much thinking and production towards aviation took place. The Wright Cycle shop opened in 1893.
They made bike repairing their own business. After three years of this business they made their own
bikes called Van Cleves and St. Clairs. They moved their store 6 times before they converted their
store into machinery shop for their manufacturing business. The men of aviation before the Wright
brothers had little but significant impact on the process of building the airplane. George Cayley lived
in the late 1700 s and early 1800 s. He was one of the first men to understand that to fly is not to
imitate the flapping wings of a bird but to use rigid wings. This was a very important idea that proved
to be true for the future. Europeans were at work to beat the Americans in building the first heavier
than air plane. Otto Lilienthal, a German engineer, experimented with hang gliders. His main focus
was on a fixed wing glider not on a

Civic Vs Honda Research Paper
You have narrowed down your options to just two cars. Now, you have to decide on an answer. Honda
Accord versus Civic: Which is Right for You? Depending on the driver s circumstances in life, needs
and price range, the answer to this question can vary. While Honda Accords and Honda Civics are
grouped together as sedans, there are actually a number of differences between the two vehicles.
Size Matters
The most obvious difference between an Accord and a Civic is the size. In 1982, Honda introduced the
Accord as their first vehicle in the Untied States. While both vehicles seat five passengers, the Honda
Civic is a compact car. The Accord is a mid size sedan, which gives it more leg room for passengers.
Since the Accord weighs about 500 pounds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Honda Accord gets 27 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles on highways. Meanwhile, the
Honda Civic gets 31 miles per gallon in the city and 42 miles per gallons for highway driving. Due to
this, the Civic is an ideal vehicle for commuters who have to drive long distances to get to work every
day. The continuously variable transmission and responsive steering make it easier to navigate through
traffic.
For extra room, choose the Accord. This model is ideal for car shoppers who want to have comfortable
seating and a lot of space. The lower gas mileage makes it less suited for commuting, although it
would be extremely comfortable to drive in over long distances. The Accord is also a better choice for
moving items due to the extra space in the interior of the car and the spacious trunk.
For Power, Choose the Accord
While the Honda Civic is the best for gas mileage and commuting, the Honda Accord has much more
power. Currently, the Accord has 185horsepower, a torque of 181 lb ft and a 2.4 liter engine.
Meanwhile, the Civic has a 1.8 liter engine with 143 horsepower and 129 lb ft of torque. This means
that the Honda Accord has more power and a better hauling capacity than the

Write An Essay On White Tailed Deer
7. Van der Hoek D, Knapp AK, Briggs JM, and Bokdam J. 2002. White tailed deer browsing on six
shrub species of tallgrass prairie Great Plains Res 1:141. White tailed deer have made a tremendous
impact on native plant species and endangered ecosystems such as the tallgrass prairie. The purpose of
this article is to show how increasing deer populations effect the native shrubs in the Great Plains. In
this paper, researchers assessed six shrub species on deer activity in the summer time. Plant species
and deer trail placement had strong effects on the amount of shrub cover and browse pattern.
Researchers found that shrub cover was higher around deer trails than off or away from deer trails.
The data suggests that the shrub species most likely impacted by white tailed deer browsing were
woody plant species, or small trees and shrubs. The results suggest that even in summer when deer

It examines the how browsers can encourage positive conditions for temperate forest soils, such as
providing extra nitrogen in the soils as a fertilizer. They found evidence that deer populations promote
plant species biodiversity because it promotes invasive species that thrive off of degradation and
habitat disturbance. Also, researchers found one cost about deer browsing was that even though it
promotes plant biodiversity, it also decrease the amount of palatable, or edible, plant species. This is
useful in my paper because it provides a different outlook of the effects of deer because most articles
are negative towards deer browsing. The authors of this paper all work for the United States
Department of Agriculture Forest Service as research ecologists, all have their doctorates in ecology
and/or biology. This finding sharply contrasts with the negative impact that deer have when their
populations kill and over browse, harming native plant

Worldview Of The Bhagavad Gita
The Bhagavad Gita looks at the purpose of life in their own unique way. Cycles of human life can be
perceived on varying levels, dependent on your religion and beliefs. When considering the Hindu
beliefs, their worldviews can be described as the actions you enforce here on earth, motivated by
either desire or duty. When living in a world dominated by personal inclinations, it is easy to fall into
the temptations of selfish desire. Krishna radiates his concerns of exactly this in the form of
apprehension, keeping his people s best interests in mind. Due to the Hindu belief of reincarnation, the
pressures of enforcing your actions through duty, not desire, is essential to restoring your karma .
Regardless the worldview each religion holds, I understand that everyone s common goal is joy in
some form. In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna establishes the worldview of Hinduism, while allowing for
explanation of worldly desire and the cycle of life.
Each religion provides a quite hopeful ambiance. Hinduism in particular, allows for a guideline to all
who will listen about eternal hope. Every being is faced with the choice of action, either by duty or
desire. Krishna is yearning to voice to humanity that if our actions are inclined by any form of desire,
it will cloud our understanding and only result in deeper, endless indulgences. This temptation of
earthly desires can be controlled by the essence of self control, eventually leading to tranquility and
joy. Although humanly urges may

While the relative debt and equity values can be easily determined, calculating the costs of debt and
equity can be problematic. In calculating each component, we are given many different options and
proxy values (boundless.com, 2015). In addition the calculation is based on assumptions of the capital
mix that cannot always be maintained, One of main limitation of using WACC is that it does not take
into consideration the floatation cost of raising the marginal capital for new projects. Another problem
with WACC is that it is based on an impractical assumption of same capital mix which is very difficult
to maintain (Borad, 2012).
Conclusion
Calculating a firm s cost of capital has always been a key issue in financial management. To tackle
this issue, WACC is one of the most widely used formulas even though the process is difficult, and
results seem ambiguous. However, it is clear that WACC is the average cost of capital the firm must
pay, in this case Home Depot (HD), to all its investors, both debt and equity holders. Since HD has
debt to the tune of $29.6 billion (2012), it means that rwacc is an average of its debt and equity cost of
capital. Based on the limiting factors revealed on the page 5, our confidence level in HD s WACC is
moderate. Nevertheless, since HD s WACC is 5.97% it means that the company should only invest in

Explain The Gothic Elements In Dr. Faustus And The Devil s...
This essay will explain the corresponding gothic elements that are seen in both the play Doctor
Faustus and the film The Devil s Advocate. These gothic elements that will be explained are the
supernatural aspects and the form of diction to create a more sinister mood. Both these gothic
elements will be examined to determine in which way they caused pandemonium throughout the main
characters lives.
When examining the supernatural aspects of both The Devil s Advocate and Doctor Faustus it is
imperative to come to terms with the fact that both have religious connections and that even religion
caused pandemonium in the lives of Faustus and Kevin Lomax. Faustus was a well educated man and
even had a degree in theology but because of his knowledge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One of the most palpable diction aspects that we can examine is the use of foreshadowing. In both
Doctor Faustus and The Devil s Advocate there are similar warnings that may be seen as
foreshadowing. Mephastophilis says Think st thou that I, that saw the face of God, And tasted the
eternal joys of heaven, Am not tormented with ten thousand hells In being deprived of everlasting
bliss? (Act 1, scene 3, lines 75 78). Even though Mephastophilis is loyal to Lucifer it can be assumed
that he is not happy and that is why he warns Faustus. Lomax was also warned by his devil that he
should be taking care of his wife and to spend time with her but this was only a way Milton/Satan
used to subconsciously manipulate Lomax. Another warning that Lomax received can be found in the
words of Milton/Satan when they first met We kill you with kindness, that s our secret . Both Faustus
and Lomax suffered at the hands of their devils (they may not even have been aware of this) and these
examples of foreshadowing mentioned above are clear examples of their inevitable fates. Both Faustus
and Lomax s fates lead to damnation and at the end both tried to repent in their own ways, Faustus
pleaded to God and Lomax committed suicide to prevent Milton s plan from reaching

Good Morning Ladies And Gentlemen Of The Jury
Good morning ladies and gentlemen of the jury. I am Alan Zhao, attorney for the defendant. Folks,
you ve all heard the expression: There are two sides to every story. And that s true. The plaintiff just
told you one side, the side they want you to hear. But you need to hear both sides before you can know
what really happened that evening. Here s what you will find out when we get our chance to present
evidence. Once you hear all the evidence, including our cross examinations, if it convinces you of
anything, it will convince you that the wrong person was liable and that a grave injustice has
happened. The prosecution wants you to believe that the waiter negligently served an intoxicated
customer who assaulted the plaintiff. That may sound good, but there s a problem: that s not how it
happened. Members of the jury, go back to March 29, 2014, at 10:30 pm. We re at the Mr. Gatsby, a
evening restaurant and sports bar. Inside there are 350 people watching and cheering for the
University of Nita basketball team compete against Nita State University. Suddenly, glass dishes
shatter all over the place, tables are turned over, the spotlight is focused on two young men embroiled
in a fury fist fight hailing out their war cries. That man, the defendant. That young man [指着 witness]
sitting right there on the witness bench is responsible for starting the conflict. Folks, this case is about
scapegoating. The plaintiff made a bet with Butch Turner that University of Nita would win the

How Did Catholics Pose A Significant Threat In England
There is much historical debate as to whether Catholics posed a significant threat in England. Duffy
has found through the study of wills that Catholic views were still seen in a large section of the
population. However, Doran suggests that long and relentless government persecutions forced many
Catholics from their faith. This would indicate that there is uncertainty as to the Catholic threat
domestically and Murphy would certainly argue that due to the increasingly hostile situation in Europe
that the bigger Catholic threat came from abroad. When the Elizabethan Church Settlement was
created Elizabeth attempted to return religious policy to the way it had been at the end of Henry VIII s
reign; there is also an indication the settlement was driven by a need for political expediency.
Elizabeth herself is seen by historians such as C Haigh as a sincere and committed protestant due to
her upbringing; however, she recognised that a large population of England was still Catholic ... Show

In 1580 s both the Throckmorton Plot, a planned invasion of England from Scotland and the
Netherlands, and the Babington Plot, in which it was planned to murder Elizabeth and release Mary
Queens of Scots from house arrest, were uncovered. Furthermore, England experienced the invasion
of the Spanish Armada, which Philip of Spain viewed as a crusade and thought would lead to a full
Roman Catholic restoration. However all of these plots were unsuccessful and many historians would
argue that this was because there was no appetite from English Catholics for an invasion from abroad.
Also, many Catholics saw Elizabeth as the rightful Queen and many of these plots were regarded with
horror or distaste by most of the English Catholic laity whose religious differences with the Queen did
not readily convert them wither into supporters of assassination or a foreign conquest of

The Importance Of The Public Education System Essay
Specific purpose: After reading my paper, my audience will understand the importance of the public
education system in America, as well as the areas in which it could improve to have a more
meaningful, lasting effect on the students.
I. Introduction
A. Background
1. Higher education costs are rising and the demand for basic supplies and services are increasing
exponentially, due to a growing population and a consumer society.
a. This means that the career path for high school graduates is more diverse than the singular college
route that the school system would like every student to believe is the best avenue to success.
2. Many students exit the education system with a lack of employability due to the gap of topics taught
in school and the skills needed in entry level jobs.
3. Not all students prevail in the same topics, and as the system currently exists, a child who does not
excel in one of the heavily tested subjects will likely fall behind.
B. Thesis: The education system in America can be vastly improved if the curriculum is expanded to
include vocational studies, teachers are paid more, and students are evaluated by their own skills.
II. Body
A. Vocational Studies
1. Explanation of current issue:
In the article Is Algebra necessary? Andrew Hacker, an emeritus professor at Queens College, explains
the immense amount of time and resources that are wasted to teach high school students higher level
math that will likely never be used. Hacker expands on

  • 2. Essay on Why Girls Become Strippers Why Girls Become Strippers For years men and women alike have wondered the same question, that is, Why do girls become strippers? Well, there are three main reasons. The first reason being the opportunity for monetary gain to better their future. In Ganttageep s article, Exotic Dancing: Illusion and Fantasy, An Exotic Dancers Path to Power , he shows this desire for money in this following quote, When asked why they got into the world of exotic dancing many women state that money is the main reason, (Ganttageep.) In addition, there own personal desires play a huge role in their life changing decision. Finally, previous experiences in life and their skills and attributes greatly affect girls in their decision to become strippers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I asked Tiffany, Why did you decide to become a stripper in the first place?, (See Appendix I.) She told me that above all else the decision was money driven, Mostly financial reasons.... I needed the money at the time, (See Appendix I.) She also told me that she didn t like to strip, I hate it, but I don t really have a choice, (See Appendix I.), and only did it as a temporary means of quick money. Then Tiffany proceeded to tell me in our interview that many girls who are strippers are people who have become addicted to the money, You get addicted to the money, ( I believed that she was quite a valid source of information because she has worked at around five to six strip clubs, varying from holes in the ground to upscale gentlemen s clubs. She seemed like a great person. She was nothing like what the media and society portray strippers to be, which is a dirty women with loose or no morals or self respect. In the news article published by BBC News the following was said, Morals are loose as it is and frankly I just want to enjoy a drink without looking at another one of England s problems dancing in my face, (BBC News.) This quote shows peoples negative views on the topic of stripping. If you saw her on the streets you would never guess what she did for a profession. From what I have found, especially in the older generations, a majority of society have never been to a strip club, they just look down upon this industry as one that is dirty and a fountain of ... • 3. The Effect Of Suppression And The Consequences Of The... Wegner, Schneider, Carter first studied suppression in 1987, defining it as a conscious effort used to direct attention away from a thought. Controlled research were only conducted after their famous study of the white bear , with most research concluding that suppressive thoughts would actually make these thoughts more invasive. The current essay draws on example from normal and clinical research to show the paradoxical effect of suppression and the resulting detrimental outcomes. In the study of Wegner et al, participants were asked not to think about white bear for five minutes. During this time, they were asked to verbalise their thoughts and ring a bell every time they though about a white bear. This was called the suppression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Baumeister et al (1998), these resources are limited and can be depleted temporary. This suggests that those who had been constantly suppressing thoughts, (e.g.) keeping secrets, or suppressing thoughts of a secret relationship, might find additional suppression more difficult. Also, those who had a smaller capacity for active volition (Baumeister et al, 1998) would find suppression less effective as they might sustain the exclusion of thoughts or the distraction from the target thought for a shorter period of time. Furthermore, despite obtaining significant results to prove that suppressed thoughts are not at all inhibited, the generalizability of the result remained questionable; one could effectively argue that the contradictory effect was provoked by the instruction to ring a bell whenever the target thought occurred. On this note, the paradoxical effects of thought suppression has been found to extend from thoughts of white bears (Wegner et al, 1978), to more realistic conditions, for example the attack of a grizzly bear (Rassin, Merckelbach an Muris, 1997). In the study of Rassin et al, participants were shown a three minute video clip of a tourist being attacked by a grizzly bear. The video finished by finishing with an ambiguous ending so that participants were left uncertain whether the tourist survived the vigorous attack, it was also recorded deliberately in the form of accidental real life footage to heighten the emotion impact. • 4. Characters In Alice Munro s Differently In Alice Munro s short story Differently, the main character Georgia recounts memories of Maya and their fallout when she visits her friend s widowed husband many years later. Upon her visit, her mind is flooded with memories of friendship, infidelity, and broken trust which inevitably disconnected her from Maya and Ben (Georgia s husband). Throughout the text, the author highlights the main character s inability to filter through many details as she describes the end of various relationships following Maya s betrayal. The author s thorough description of settings, characters, and events emphasizes Georgia s difficulty in focusing on what details of her life are important, as most of them seem important to her. The opening words of Alice Munro s Differently introduce the style the author uses throughout the short story: Georgia once took a creative writing course, and what the instructor told her was: Too many things. Too many things going on at the same time; also too many people [...] What do you want us to pay attention to? Think (Munro 1). These lines echo in the mind of the reader as they dive further into the text, reading about too many things and meeting too many people. Munro introduces Georgia, Raymond, Maya, Ben, Harvey, Anne, Hilda and her former creative writing instructor all within the first few pages. The role of each character (aside from the creative writing instructor) is clouded with the details of their physical appearance or small mannerisms. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance Of The CSI Effect On Crime Scene Investigation Introduction Television has been around for years making money off of the public s interests. Starring shows such as CSI Miami, Forensic Files, Cold Case, Bones, and many more demonstrate the procedures of forensic science at active crime scenes. However, these shows have given the wrong perception of forensic science and the procedures to investigating an active crime scene. These television shows have made a lasting impact on the public s perception of Crime Scene Investigation still today. Often times these shows have made it difficult for judges, attorneys, lawyers, and juries to understand forensic science. CSI Effect Crime Scene Investigations are fascinating to the public and have been portrayed on television for many years. These television shows have influenced how the public perceives the procedures of investigating crime scenes. Forensic science and investigating a crime scene is a very complex and unique career. Television has exaggerated and wrongly influenced the perception of forensic science, crime scene investigation, and procedures in criminalistics. The effect that these crime scene television shows have on the public is called the CSI Effect (Shelton, 2008). The CSI effect can lead to jurors wrongly acquitting an individual because they believe the job wasn t thorough enough. There are more than 100 million viewers who watch television shows about scientific evidence in criminal cases (Shelton, 2008). The general public assumes what they ... In this the church believes that all people deserve an equal chance to work and provide a living for not only themselves but their families as well. According to the USCCB the bottom 50% controls just 4.5% of the overall wealth in this country and that is not an even distribution of wealth. This means that those people who are in the bottom 50% do not have the same opportunities as the others because simply put they do not control nearly close to the same amount of money. Additionally the top 10% of people s income has increased by over 200% since 1948 while the other 90% has increased by only 100%. This shows that the top 10% s wealth has increased by double the amount the rest of the population has, meaning that the disparity of wealth in the nation is only begun to increase during the last 66 years. This is one of the problems that the Church has addressed because if people are living in poverty but still trying to work full time they are not being treated equally and to say that this is okay is morally ... • 8. The New England And Chesapeake Colonies The seventeenth century brought plenty of changes to North America. One of the most significant ones was the formation of the thirteen colonies along the North American east coast. These colonies are generally divided into New England, Middle and South or the Chesapeake regions. Most of these colonies were settled by the British, yet they developed differently as the years went by. Some developed into more egalitarian colonies and some not. These factors later developed into different customs and traditions which led to the varied differences between the New England and Chesapeake colonies. The differences between these colonies also arose due to different opinion on functioning of the government and ideologies. New England, being majorly settled by the Puritans, was intolerant to all other religions. The one exception to this was the colony of Rhode Island. Because it was settled by a dissenter from the Massachusetts Bay colony, it was the only New England colony to have complete religious freedom. Most of the New England based groups wanted to reform the Anglican Church from inside. The Chesapeake region was completely tied to the Anglican Church and did not care about reforming it in any way. The New England colonies also had a large central government which allowed for their administrations to be more organized and uniform throughout the region. This idea came from the Mayflower Compact signed at Plymouth by the Pilgrims. The American Pageant describes it as, It was simple agreement to form a crude government and submit to the will of the majority under the regulations agreed upon (Bailey 47 ). • 11. Grief In The Story Of Tom Brennan By J. C Burk The novel The Story Of Tom Brennan by J.C Burk is about the aftermath of drink driving and the effects it has on the families. This review aims to highlight why I believe the themes of loss, grief, and conflict are so significant to my generation when discussing the issue surrounding drink driving. I found this book not relatable, to me Tom wasn t realistic. Personally, I don t find Toms character to be unrealistic, he was too dramatic and his reactions to situations were unreasonable. The novel has redeeming aspects when it come to Joe, Kylie, Brendan and Gran were more realistic to me, these characters drew me in more. The Loss is presented throughout the novel. These can range from the smooth layered sound of classical music to the harsh thrashy sound of heavy metal in a seemingly endless list of geners and sub genres. Amongst these genres few have been as influential in contemporary music as the Blues. The blues can be attributed as being the foundation for many modern generes including rock and roll and jazz. (Nicole 2005) The blues are often known for their meloncholic overtones and simplistic chord progressions. These characteristic are a direct result of the genres origins. During the 19th century in southern America black slave groups would often sing work songs to pass the time and maintain a steady work pace. These field hollers were songs with simple meloncholic lyrics, often using a call and response style in full a capella.(Oliver 1969) The 1890s was a pivitol time in african american history. It saw the change from black slave labour to paid manual labour bringing with it a sense of indivdualaity for the african american people.(Davis 2003) In turn using the influences of the old work songs and the current western trends in music the early blues were formed. From bios, meaning life, and mimesis, meaning to imitate Biomimicry is a new science where entrepreneurs imitate nature s time tested processes, systems and designs to solve human s sustainability problems. Sustainability Problem The sustainability problem referred to in this research project is the high energy consumption of air conditioners in industrial facilities but also in households and its global and personal health problems (National Geographic online). There is too much money and electricity spent on air conditioning all around the world, and percentages are rising. Air conditioners have a negative impact on the environment as they can release refrigerants into the atmosphere, which deplete the ozone layer. Health hazards can also occur if air conditioners are not maintained properly, as dirty filters allow allergens and pesticides to enter house and buildings. Nature s solution Termites build some of the most impressive structures in the animal world, consisting of materials such as soil, dung and termite saliva and can be 8m high. The extremely porous walls allow ventilation and cooling systems, due to outside air being able to permeate the entire structure. Hypothesis: Modeling houses, offices, malls and other large buildings according to the principles of termite mounds would serve as a sustainable solution, as it would save money and decrease the amount of energy consumption. ... Pre Screening For Disabilities And Genetic Enhancement Pre screening for disabilities and genetic enhancement are vital factors in the decision to place restrictions for selective genetic abortion. All human life should be of equal worth, supporting the ideal that life and death decisions for seriously compromised newborns should not be based on the quality of life (CITE 3). Screening for genetic diseases through the use of in vitro fertilization, or IVF, limits and excludes those with disabilities from our society, exposing limits on morality. These include transgression of divine laws, transgression of natural laws, introduction of an unacceptable risk of harm, introduction of a threat to genetic diversity, introduction of a threat to one s common genetic heritage, paradoxical counterproductively, a misuse of social resources, a widened gap between the haves and have nots , promotion of social conformity and homogeneity, and lastly undermining free choice (Fisher, 2013). From these points it is important to recognize the impact it has upon our society, and how we perceive, and behave towards those with a disability. The practise of introducing selective abortion through the use of IVF and genetic testing will create a hostile environment going forward into the future for those who escape detection before birth. This will cause potential discrimination against those with a disability, making them liable to be looked down upon by the community and unfit to be alive (Fisher, 2013). Cycles of human life can be perceived on varying levels, dependent on your religion and beliefs. When considering the Hindu beliefs, their worldviews can be described as the actions you enforce here on earth, motivated by either desire or duty. When living in a world dominated by personal inclinations, it is easy to fall into the temptations of selfish desire. Krishna radiates his concerns of exactly this in the form of apprehension, keeping his people s best interests in mind. Due to the Hindu belief of reincarnation, the pressures of enforcing your actions through duty, not desire, is essential to restoring your karma . Regardless the worldview each religion holds, I understand that everyone s common goal is joy in some form. In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna establishes the worldview of Hinduism, while allowing for explanation of worldly desire and the cycle of life. Each religion provides a quite hopeful ambiance. Hinduism in particular, allows for a guideline to all who will listen about eternal hope. Every being is faced with the choice of action, either by duty or desire. Krishna is yearning to voice to humanity that if our actions are inclined by any form of desire, it will cloud our understanding and only result in deeper, endless indulgences. This temptation of earthly desires can be controlled by the essence of self control, eventually leading to tranquility and joy. Although humanly urges may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In calculating each component, we are given many different options and proxy values (boundless.com, 2015). In addition the calculation is based on assumptions of the capital mix that cannot always be maintained, One of main limitation of using WACC is that it does not take into consideration the floatation cost of raising the marginal capital for new projects. Another problem with WACC is that it is based on an impractical assumption of same capital mix which is very difficult to maintain (Borad, 2012). Conclusion Calculating a firm s cost of capital has always been a key issue in financial management. Duffy has found through the study of wills that Catholic views were still seen in a large section of the population. This would indicate that there is uncertainty as to the Catholic threat domestically and Murphy would certainly argue that due to the increasingly hostile situation in Europe that the bigger Catholic threat came from abroad.
