SPF Baboons Case Study
To dissect out the role of hTBM expression for extending the cardiac xenograft survival, three
xenografts from donor pigs not expressing (GTKO.CD46) were transplanted in SPF baboons using
previously used anti CD40 (2C10R4) antibody based immunosuppression. All heterotopic cardiac
xenotransplantation s were done without any technical difficulty or perioperative complications.
Transplanted recipient baboons were successfully extubated immediately following surgery and
were active, eating, and generally well soon after the operation. Use of left ventricular telemetry
implant and serial echocardiograms confirmed vigorous xenograft contractility following
transplantation. All the recipient baboons maintained their hemoglobin, hematocrit and RBC...

In contrast, both IgM and IgG non Gal antibodies were increased when xenograft rejection was
triggered by withdrawal of anti CD40 (2C10R4) antibody in a previous experiment (4). Besides
our earlier report, Anti CD40 (2C10R4) antibody treatment is also shown to be associated with the
prevention of induced anti pig humoral immune response in pig hematopoietic cell transplantation
in baboon (18). We have previously reported a shorter cardiac xenograft survival (median 71
days) from GTKO.hCD46 donor pigs along with anti CD154 antibody based immunosuppression
(2). Perhaps by using clinically available anti CD154 antibody along with GE pigs expressing
hTBM will allow faster clinical transition. However, Anti CD154 antibody has been shown to cause
thromboembolic complications which may limit its clinical application. Anti CD40(2C10R4)
antibody blocks the same CD40/CD154 pathway without causing thromboembolism and has also
been shown to prolong the graft survival in both the xeno and allotransplantation setting by us (4)
and others (12) (19) but this agent is not currently approved for clinical use. In our recently
reported study (4), low doses of anti CD40 (2C10R4) antibody treatment and early withdrawal it
from the immunosuppressive regimen resulted in poor xenograft outcome (20). In the current
study, despite of high

Essay about Overcoming Fear in Frank O’Connor’s First...
Overcoming Fear in Frank O Connor s First Confession
Word Count includes detailed outline
David W. Madden believes several of Frank O Connor s stories reflect his personal life and goals.
Jackie, the young protagonist, in the First Confession, loves his mother as equally as O Connor
loved his mother. Madden also believes O Connor should have selected a religious calling because
the priests mentioned in his stories incorporate the instrumental impact on the laity s lives (3227).
Understanding women, contributed by his mother s influence, frequently are displayed in O
Connor s writings. Madden feels that some of O Connor s stories focus on naГЇve, sensitive figures

They talk about the horrific details of hanging for such vicious crimes. At first, Jackie is unwilling
to confess but regretful for having to part with his new friend (the priest). He values him as an
exceptionally entertaining character in the religious line (182).
Jackie is a young naГЇve boy who is nervous about the transition of obligations according to his
religion. He is planning to make his First Communion, but initially he is required to make his First
Penance. Jackie proclaims, I was scared to death of confession (177). He thinks his sins are
disgraceful, and he may be punished for them. On the other hand, he is petrified to make a bad
confession because he does not want to burn in Hell for eternity like Mrs. Ryan taught him. Jackie
s youth and innocence leads him to believe literally the tales that have been told to him about
confession (178). Jackie thinks that his grandmother and sister are the core to all his evil doing, and
he wishes death upon both of them. Most young children have these same feelings.
Jackie s confidence increases because of the relationships he finds in his mother and the priest.
Jackie s mother is the typical mom. She is always shielding him from the world, and especially his
father s thrashings. It seems she is his only ally in the world until he meets the priest. Jackie feels
betrayed when Nora takes him to confession instead of his mother. As a result, his sister

My Day Of School After Winter Break
Numb Toes and Good Times
There are not many things I love more than the smell of pine trees, the cold brisk wind of the
first snowfall, and the joy of Christmas time. I can see myself now, getting released on my last
day of school before winter break. Second grade might not have been a struggle, but a couple
weeks off of school was just what a little me needed. I trudged home through the snow and slush.
The sidewalks were almost non existent in Michigan winters; you had to search for footprints
made by others or risk a rolled ankle. Muddy slush seeped into my snow boots, yet still I had a grin
peeled across my face. This smile was mostly a result of the day approaching, December 25th.
Christmas mostly meant a couple things to me when I was little, presents, candy, and my favorite
vacation out west to the mountains. The Christmas card had already sent out that year, it was all
seven of us; heads morphed onto the Little Rascals characters. At the time this was probably
relatively funny, but now it s pretty much just embarrassing. The poems on the cards were always
the best, I m sure my second grader friends couldn t interpret the jokes my mom wrote, but their
moms would. We would start planning our Christmas cards around September, it was way too
early but I guess it was necessary, to create a comic masterpiece. I never understood how she made
everything rhyme and flow so well, it still amazes me to this day.
When I finally made it home, like clockwork, my mom yelled at me

Essay on The Gothic Genre and What it Entails
The invaluable works of our elder writers re driven into neglect by frantic novels, sickly and stupid
German Tragedies, and deluges of idle and extravagant stories in verse. The human mind is capable
of being excited without the application of gross and violent stimulants..
William Wordsworth, Preface to The Lyrical Ballads, 1802.
..Phantasmagoric kind of fiction, whatever one may think of it, is not without merit: twas the
inevitable result of revolutionary shocks throughout Europe thus to compose works of interest, one
had to call on the aid of Hell itself, and to find things familiar in the world of make believe..

It was not until around 1960 that academics like Robert Hume rose to its defence. (Maybe its
renewed popularity was something to do with the very unique socio political situation in the 1960s
echoing a the unique situation of the late eighteenth century, the heyday of the genre.) Since then
there has been a deluge of commentary which has elevated the genre to a critical and scholarly
favourite.
It is often said that one of the unifying features of Romanticism is its intentional political relevance.
Much of the canonical Romantic literature is inspired or informed by socio political events. We
need only look at Blake s work or key poems by second generation Romantics like Shelley s Ode to
the West Wind or The Mask of Anarchy to verify this.
The same is true of Romantic Gothic which arose around that unique period in European history
posthumously defined by the French Revolution but significant for its trans European massive
cultural and social upheaval indicated in part by repeated rioting in Britain (Lowe, vii) and a
widespread clamour for various reforms. Victor Sage writes, English Gothick of the eighteenth
century is seen as a collective symptom of political pressure felt all over Europe.

Physical Diversity

A physical disability is one type of diversity in the workplace because it can cause harassment,

Physical diversity in the Workplace
. Diversity encompasses race, religion, gender, background, education, physical disabilities, and
more. In life there are so many diversities that one faces. Unfortunately, the workplace is no

A motto that would benefit all employees would be the Golden Rule which is do onto others as you
would have them do unto you.
A physical disability can cause occupational hazards in the work place.
A physical disability can cause an occupational hazard in the workplace due to no wheelchair
accessible ramps. Occupational hazards in the workplace for employees with physical
disabilities are sometimes difficult to acknowledge by the employer. Ramps for employees in
wheelchairs may need to be installed if steps are the only entrance into the workplace. Also it
may be necessary to install ramps inside the building if there are no elevators that are accessible
for the employees. The reason these may be an occupational hazard is because the wheel chair
may turn over when trying to maneuver steps, which could cause injuries such as broken bones.
A physical disability can also cause occupational hazards in the workplace when there are no
handicap accessible doors located in all work spaces. When there are no doors that have sensors,
buttons, or ramps available that the disabled can use there is a risk for an occupational hazard. If
there are no doors in all works spaces that are handicap accessible with all the features that should
be installed this could cause the disabled to be shut in a door, a wheel to be caught,

Media And Stereotyping On Gender Stereotypes
Several advertisements in the set of stimuli for these interviews inspired reactions which resonate
with this courtship theme. All three informants became emotionally involved in these ads, able to
self project to a tremendous degree and to create imaginative stories about the people portrayed in
the ads. Also importantly, the role portrayals of women in these ads were never seen by any of the
informants as sexist or inappropriate, contrary to the researcher s own introspection.

It was about time someone addressed the phrase like a girl . It s full of negativity and perpetuates
the stereotype that the way women do things is inferior to the way men do them. So, hold high the
foam finger of feminism for this advert that was screened in the Super Bowl, for tackling the issue
with true conviction, like a meaty advertising linebacker. Touch down.

For the first interview, the advertisements were initially presented as a holistic set to encourage
comparisons among the ads, and then each ad was discussed individually. As this process was
rather cumbersome and resulted in tremendous repetition, for the second interview each ad was
discussed only individually. Often, however, this individual presentation did not directly encourage
informants to comment on gender in the ads. In the final interview, the researcher clustered the ads
into groups of twos or threes that facilitated direct comparisons

c. Conducting Research
This is perhaps the most important step in the research paper writing process. Your research not
only provides you ethos as a writer by revealing your knowledge and understanding of the topic,
but also will very likely shape both your understanding and interpretation of the topic. Listed
below are several important tips for conducting research and notetaking: * In order to avoid later
confusion, begin each section by recording the author s name, book or article title, and page
numbers (if relevant). * As you examine each source, record important or unique notions which
you may wish to incorporate within your paper. Make certain to outline the general arguments
of each source by including a descriptive heading after the citation. This will aid you in more
quickly and easily distinguishing between sources in the future. Additionally, it may be useful to
group sources into categories based on more refined topics. * In order to diminish the risk of
plagiarizing, do NOT directly lift phrasing or entire segments of the text from sources without
properly indicating that you have done so. If you find it necessary to directly quote an author,
clearly indicate what has been copied from the author and record the page number on which this
information can be found. * Remain critical of your sources: Do not assume that an idea or
criticism is valid, because it appears in the argument of a single critic or even multiple

A Research Study On Sex Trafficking Study Essay
As far as the reliability was concerned in the study I believe there should be no concern. The
individuals in the study were all young women of whom were adjudicated from 1990 to 2011l. If
there was any reason to believe that their information was not reliable one could check into police
records and other background checks that were available. The presence of the court files helps with
the researchstudy being reliable. If those files did not exist, one would question the reliability of the
stories from younger ladies. To adjust for the credibility, the researcher obtained information from
official criminal histories, interviews from offenders and law enforcement records (Hargreaves
Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34).
Sample
When looking for a sample for a research project one must be sure that it is going to provide us
with the answers to the questions we are looking to answer and it represents the sample that was
in mind (Yegidis et al., 2012, p. 210). In the sex trafficking study, the researchers had obtained
their participants by selecting 179 survivors of young ladies who had performed the act of sex
trafficking. The ladies were selected from a pool of women who had been adjudicated between
1990 2011 (Hargreaves Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34). After reading the who research study I
do feel that the sample size was effective and it gave the results that the researchers were looking
for. The authors did not offer any justification for the sample size that was selected.

Global Governance Is The Most Significant Undertaking...
Introduction
Global governance is the most significant undertaking towards political collaboration that addresses,
mediates and provides leadership to issues that affect member states and has huge impacts on world
trade. In the last few decades, various communities in the world have become increasingly
interconnected due to economic integration and increasing change in technology (Ikenberry, 2015).
Global governance constitutes organizing, administering and supervision of global affairs and
processes without a prescribed world government. Correspondingly, it offers real and
accommodative problem solving engagements in social, environment, economic and political issues
(Iorio, 2014). There are various entities within the global governance ... Show more content on

Besides, the governance bodies are interested in coordinating specific mechanisms regarding
accountability, legitimacy, and transparency (Jackson, 2008). Consequently, they emphasize on
transparency, bureaucratic participation, reasoned decisions, and accessibility to assessment
mechanisms. Besides, they focus on circumvention of unnecessary measures and illegitimate
avoidance expectations (Busch Reinhardt, 2003). Global governance is made up of an incongruent
assortment of regulatory entities that facilitate decision making and administrative activities facing
member states. Such bodies include Basel Committee that regulate and supervise banking sector
through of the territories of the member states. This committee liaises between governments of the
member countries, the secretariat of the global governance entities and the banks.
Global governing bodies develop laws that monitor the operations of trading international regulatory
entities like world trade organization to help in enhancing transparency and accountability (Weiss
Kammel, 2015). This activity has huge impacts on operations of free trade and ensures that each
member transacts freely, fairly and performs the legitimate trade. Besides, the institution ensures
that fairness, due process, and procedural participation been adhered accordingly. Without due
process, the legal system will lack legitimacy and efficacy. Fairness is significant

Due diligence is simply the method of undertaking a little bit of inquiries with a few ordinary
attention. Due diligence in real estate would include doing research over the property, its
surroundings, and the factors that may affect the rent from tenant to property holder. Due
diligence is done to eliminate the unknown kind of risk to the property holder , Dolf de Roos,
2010. It is an important section of granting the property to the resident to check whether the
resident is qualified to pay the rent. It must be verified whether the party of interest will be able to

were many issues surrounding the property and that is way it was priced so low. The
improvements had been done without permits and that placed the property in situations too hard

Pollution: the presence in or introduction into the environment of a substance or thing that has
harmful or poisonous effects. Over the years pollution has become a growing epidemic that, when
taken into the proper hands, can be stopped. Many citizen would argue that caring for the earth is
too much work, unrealistic to solve, and unaffordable. Citizens should understand that earth is an
amazing home and should not be taken for granted. Although most people do not see the earth as
dying, but rather see it as a home, the government should require conservation for all citizens
because of the condition the earth is in, future generations, and preventable outcomes. With earth s
unstable conditions growing, government officials need to implement conservation by advocating
all citizens to put an end to pollution. Even though all the problems are not going to be solved
within a day, it is still necessary to understand and learn about crises such as this one. The author

Touching Bottom And Chrysanthemums
Seeing these stories Touching Bottom and Chrysanthemums I see feminism through women s
strength, weakness and overcome from struggles. In the story Touching Bottom women s strength
showed that the protagonist is a strong person in physically and mentally. In the story
Chrysanthemums I see Elisa s strength, she is very optimistic and satisfactory person. She can live
happy within a small circle. However through feminist point of view I found weakness in both
stories too. In the story Touching Bottom Kari s weakness is male dominance and lack of self
confidence on herself. As the story Touching Bottom in the story Chrysanthemums the weakness of
the protagonist is male dominance and lack of self confidence. However through feminist lenses I
see whether the protagonist of the story could able to overcome or not. In the story Touching
Bottom the protagonist Kari was able to overcome from struggles in contract in the story
Chrysanthemums the protagonist could not overcome from obstacles and she is still in immature
state of mind.
Women s strengthens is one of the important part in feminist critical theory. In the story Touching

realist. The novel presents various examples of picaresque genre and American journey narratives.
Thompson uses picaresque narrative of a rogue hero s desert journey for the American Dream in
bars, casinos, hotels only to find that it is essentially unattainable. At the same time, Thompsons
examines the generation s failure to achieve the American Dream by commenting on their cultural
behavior in the 1960s and 1970s.
The principles of Picaresque genre are revealed throughout the novel: first person narrative and
episodic structure of a rogue hero. Thompson portrays an episodic plot in the novel where the
rogue hero travels back and forth in search of the American Dream. Duke and his attorney drive

Border Security and Transatlantic Counter-Terrorism Measures
Border Security and Transatlantic Counter Terrorism Measures
ABSTRACT: The United States and the European Union share common values, economic interests,
and security challenges. The expansion of the European Union into the countries which were under
the Soviet sphere of influence continues to complicate the internal border security of the European
Union. Given the liberalization of trade within the EU and in turn into the US, the port and border
security of each trading partner is connected in this global economy. This paper examines some of
the border security issues facing the EU and how these challenges affect the United States.
Particular interest is paid to the porous borders of the former Warsaw Pact countries given their ...

The United States created a more protective stance on homeland security after the terrorist attacks
in 2001. This defensive mentality has effected allies and enemies alike and placed more stringent
security barriers at America s gates. The changing global environment created by these terrorist
activities has challenged the transatlantic relationship and its ability to produce effective counter
measures. Cooperation between the US and the EU in this arena is critical to the security and
economic prosperity of both regions. The EU s limited executive authority over Justice and
Homeland Affairs presents obstacles to the equal implementation of counter terrorism measures
throughout the Union.
COUNTER TERRORISM MEASURES
The US has enacted new counter terrorism measures since the attacks of 2001. Several of these
measures affect the travel standards and economic interaction with allied nations. The developments
of the Security Container Initiative, the Passenger Name Record exchange, and the freezing of
terrorist financial networks have created opportunities for both cooperation and conflict between
the US and the EU. The declarations from the US EU Summit in Ireland on counter terrorism
measures provide only part of the solution. The EU must also develop and utilize the executive
power required to ensure equal implementation across the union.

Monster The Autobiography Of An L. A Gang Member Sparknotes
During the 1970s and 1980s criminal street gangs were one of the most serious criminal offenses
in California. A gang member is defined as any person who actively participates in any gang with
knowledge that its members engage in or have engaged in a pattern of criminal gang activity, and
who willfully promotes, furthers, or assists in any felonious criminal conduct by members of that
gang. In the novel Monster: the Autobiography of an L.A. Gang Member by Sanyika Shakur, the
author depicts the life of Kody Scott, also known as Monster Kody. Kody grows up in Southern
Los Angeleswith his mom and five other siblings. At the age of eleven, Kody aspires to be a
famous gangster. Through Monster Kody s initiation as a member of 8 Trays Crips Gang, the trials

Lawyer
The working field I want to link my future with is becoming a lawyer. Lawyer is a complicated
profession that has a lot of responsibilities to find evidence, to defend a person using them, to
argue someones rights, to give advices on the right ruling of the company. Even though lawyer
is one of the hardest and most risky professions, many people choose it as their future career
because of its prestige in the society and the amount of money it gives them. A lawyer is needed
not only in court, he is also needed in the personnel of the company, so he would tell the owner if

The salary of lawyers varies depending on the field they work in (court, private firm). Lawyers that
opened their own firms often make less money than those who are partners in a law firm. The
biggest parts of life the salary depends on are: education, experience, level of responsibility and
degree of specializations. Lawyer salaries range from very low all the way up to several hundred
thousand dollars a year. Some lawyers can make up to $700,000 a year. As you can see above,
lawyer is a profession which is very required in now days, this is also a base for the salary of the
lawyer as also said above.
Applying into Law School, which are abundant in U.S., for example, is hard and expensive. A few
of good U.S. universities to go to are Yale, Harvard, and Stanford. These are the three universities I
will choose from if I actually decide to be a lawyer.

Analysis Of The Pianist
The Pianist is a film directed by Roman Polanski that took place in Poland, in the year 1939, and
was based on the autobiography of Wladyslaw Szpilman. Szpilman was a Polish Jewish pianist
that played live on the radio in Warsaw. The story follows Szpilman as he and his family struggle to
live through the German occupation of Warsawin World War II. Szpilman and his family are forced
to adapt to the new rules and discrimination of the Nazi regime. They are later forced to move to
the Warsaw ghetto with the rest of the Jewish population, which was over 400,000 people(United

a train going to a concentration camp, however a Jewish police officer saved Szpilman and let
him escape. The film then tells of the harsh times Szpilman spent in hiding in the Warsaw ghetto
and the people that hid and fed him. Wladyslaw Szpilman was played by Adrien Brody, who won
an Oscar for his amazing performance in the film. The Pianistdemonstrates the timeline and
conditions of Warsaw through German behavior towards the Jews, subtleties in the background, and
the change in mood through the color tones. When the Germans annexed Poland they established a

Essay about No One Would Listen

A True Financial Thriller. Harry Markopolos, ed. New Jersey: John Wiley and Sons, Inc. 2010.
Pp. 345. $17.35 (hard cover) This book brought out the failures of the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) in one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in America s history, as orchestrated by
Bernie Madoff. Harry Markopolos caught up with Madoff s Ponzi scheme earlier on in his career
and saw all the red flags. There was no explanation of the continuous one percent yield in over
forty five stocks that Madoff dealt with. Madoff took advantage of the laxity by the SEC officials
in failing to follow up complains with an investigation, and the trust... Show more content on

The employees and traders shrugged it off. As it would later turn out, Madoff s illegal
investment business was indeed subsidizing his legal trading operation. Among the charges to
which Madoff pleaded guilty in March were three counts of money laundering, which involved
transferring millions of dollars from Madoff s fraudulent business through his London operation
to his legitimate New York business. At least $250 million was transferred in this manner,
according to the charges. In 2006 when the SEC launched an investigation into Madoff s
dealings it was from persuasion from Markopolos that Madoff was running a Ponzi scheme and
he was also a key source for the Mar/Hedge article. The SEC also examined whether Fairfield
Greenwich, a giant feeder fund, was properly disclosing the extent of its reliance on Madoff.
According to research by Harry Markopolos, it grew from as much as $7 billion in 2000 to as
much as $50 billion by the end of 2005. What had started decades before as a small time recruiting
effort by Madoff agents at country clubs had gone global. Massive international institutions such as
Grupo Santander, Fortis Bank, and Union Bancaire PrivГ©e were all funneling billions sometimes
through intermediaries to Madoff, lured by the call of steady 10% to 12% returns. Even one of the

Tibet Imperialism
Vincenzo Villeggiante
Tibet has had a very long history within and outside of China. For many years, Tibet was its own
kingdom, ruling over the plateau for which it is named with full sovereignty. However, Tibet
eventually came under the official rule of the Qing dynasty, the Manchu dynasty of China. Within
Qing, Tibet retained a very high level of local autonomy, having its own government and many
qualities similar to independent countries. In some ways, it didn t even identify as being part of
Qing. An example is the time when China was divided into multiple spheres of influence between
European powers. The British had enforced a trade law on China, but the Dalai Lama at the time
refused to obey, citing Tibet as not part of China. This continued... Show more content on

The Republic of China never attained direct control over Tibet, and so there was a de facto
independent Tibetan state. This unofficial and unrecognized country continued to exist for about
forty years. During this time, Tibet was controlled by a very conservative people. Refusing to
modernize and/or industrialize. When the communist revolution in China occurred, and the former
government fled to Taiwan, they would have to face a new threat: the People s Republic of China.
The People s Republic claimed that the Tibetan government was exploiting the citizens as serfs,
and that they should be liberated from them by none other than the People s Liberation Army.
Although Tibet actually had a high resemblance to medieval European feudalism, the government
never exploited the citizens per se. When the PLA was at their doorstep, they were nowhere near
prepared and were conquered by the Chinese. They were eventually officially annexed into China,
and the 14th Dalai Lama was exiled to India. Under the PRC, the Tibetans endured many hardships
that were brought upon them. The so called Great Leap Forward led to widespread starvation, and

These Political figures are expected to guardianship the well being of the citizens in our country.
Their means of interest in the people of our country is now being exposed for liberation, freedom
and truth in which it is properly due to all men and women that are created equally. This essay
will explore how abuse of authority impacts upon individual freedom in our society today. If we
examine the first impact of abusive authority, we will find that moral standards are today, at its
lowest percentile. It is fair to say that America has lost its morality. No longer are we conservative
or discreet. Yet, we are outspoken and boastfully filled with pride and our very own alto ego;
living for self. No longer are we caring or outreaching. Yet and still, we build a wall. For example,
there are many obscurities that can be easily witnessed while watching American television.
Whereas, many actors are now shown at their least of clothing or somewhat nudity in the midst of
primetime broadcasting. What happened to broadcasting services only allowing such nature of
television that is shown at a specific time during the night? Has the media authority taken advantage
of our innocence, our kids innocence? Maybe! Another example, there have been many shootings

When a child is affected from the mother using drugs during gestation, the child suffers for an
infinite amount of time, so states should consider rethinking the laws to better support the child,
not the mother. A child suffers with a numerous number of issues for eternity whenever his or her
mother uses drugs during pregnancy. On the other hand, a child that is effected should have the
rights to not live with the person who harmed him. Child abuse should be illegal in every state,
not just the few that have made it illegal, and the mother should be tried and prosecuted. Along
with keeping the child safe, prosecuting the mother also ensures the child to having a better life.
The child will not have to worry about being made fun of, suffering from terminal diseases, and
losing a parent to drug use. The child is more likely to live a healthier life if law enforcement can
do away with the drug using mother. The laws that are in effect today are not feasible in most
circumstances. The laws do not push through enough, and they are not strong enough to keep the
drugs away from the child. That being said, more children are being affected day by day. The
enforcement of the laws against prenatal drug abuse, in the United States, is important to the

A bad driver is not the reckless maniac running red lights and knocking over stop signs in order

The polite driver would find his place on the right side of the road, and put up with everyone
around him driving five miles under what his grandma would be driving without her glasses. The
efficient driver knows better. He swiftly transitions into the leftmost lane and drives at a pace that
is comfortable to him, despite that said speed is often ten miles under the speed limit. He artfully
sets his radio to the perfect volume to drown the honking of the cars behind him. It is important to
note that the efficient driver does not use his turn signal when changing lanes. The sight of his
car leaving the right lane should be enough to alert any drivers behind him, and if not, they
should be paying closer attention. At this point, one may begin to question the rules of the road,
and will eventually come to the realization that many of these so called regulations are simply
suggestions. For example, the solid yellow lines in the middle of the road are present more of a
guideline than a strict decree, so if it is more convenient, one can ignore the distinctions and take
up as many lanes as is necessary. One must remember that he has a singular goal, and everyone
else on the road is merely an obstacle in his way of achieving that

The debate over the legalization of drugs continues to disturb the American public. Such an issue

ask all of you to please keep an open mind and hear me out on this very controversial subject. All
of us have in some way or another been affected by drug, whether it is a family member or the

Why would an inner city youth degrade themselves by working for five dollars an hour at
McDonalds? While some of his peers are standing on a corner, selling drugs for a couple of
hundred dollars an hour. So you risk going to jail. Unfortunately jail for some people is better
than living in the conditions, which they live in now. The slick young pushers are the new role
models for today s youth. They are wearing designer clothes and are driving the new $50,000 cars.
They are being seen everyday with a smug smile that tells the younger children that drugs pay.
One way to combat the problem is to go after the pusher: arrest them and toss them in jail. This is
the approach we use today but it is not an effective one. This is because people will do anything
and use all their intellect to avoid arrest. A lot of Americans have sufficient talent to get away
with illegal crimes. As we attempt to crack down on the violence and drug trafficking, we find
that our justice and prison systems are ill equipped to handle the problem to the magnitude as we

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Employees

Apart from the advantages offered by captives, there are some factors that limit captive expected

These include:
Lack of market co operation.
Lack of adequate statistics.
Government control.
Insurance nationalism.
Tied up capital.
Reinsurance cost.
While companies form captives with the initial motive of underwriting its parent s risks, they are
likely to need the cooperation of the market. Sometime market co operation is very difficult to get,
especially in a very difficult insurance market environment where the possibility of creating a

The growth of captives has been gradual in the early stage until the 1960s, and 1970s, when a
substantial expansion took place. The growth may be seen as a clear evidence of the demand by
corporations and institutions for a greater level of cost efficiency and response to new problems of
risk management.
The coming of captives brought significant changes in the business environment of risk
management and even greater changes are envisaged to occur in the future. The changes captives
brought along have affected many including commercial insurers and reinsurers, government
bodies, the operation of insurance agents and brokers in the distribution systems for insurance. The
effects are felt in the competitive pressure experienced by the traditional insurance market brought
about by captive presence, which has brought about important underwriting changes among the
commercial insurers. The current method of rate making by commercial insurers is altered
significantly because of the growing importance of captive, since current rating classes now tend to
be broad, permitting the average insurer to operate in a fairly level and stable rate structure across
industries. Thus, firms with relatively favourable loss experience are contributing to losses of those
with poorer experience. Captives constituted a big threat for the conventional insurance because
they have a lot going for them. The traditional insurance market did not welcome captive movement
because it saw the movement as a threat to its share of the insurance market. They were made to
accept captives when they realised that many businesses were flourishing as a result of captive
activities and they benefited directly and indirect from those

Schools sell high fat, high sugar snack foods and beverages in vending machines and school
stores. These malicious foods are easier to come by and cheaper, appealing more to the
developing minds of students. Schools have been known to lack access of healthy foods, such as
fresh produce, whole grains, and low fat dairy products (Latino Childhood Obesity). Marketers are
also a huge contribution to the rise in obesity among the Latino youth. About 74 percent of kid
targeted food and drinks ads on television promote foods in the lowest nutritional category
(Ramirez). Young children are affected more by food advertisements, especially fast foods. Fast
food commercials advertise toys with the purchase of a kid s meal that appeals to young kids. Also,
restaurants use cartoon advertisement, like Ronald McDonald, to encourage children to want to go
there, increasing their intake of high calorie and Tran s fat food. Giant playgrounds, along with the
cartoons and toys, grasp the attention of

Big Five Personality Traits
One of the aspects of the personality theory is the Big Five Personality traits. Those traits are:
extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness. Each of these traits
have been studied by many experts and defined based on the behaviors and attitudes that are
attributed to most people. There are no absolutes meaning that just because most people who
display a certain characteristic are effective leaders, does not mean that everybody who has that
trait is an effective leader (Dziak, 2017). This paper will break down each of the Big Five traits
and talk about their role in leadership. Agreeableness is defined as being kind and caring.
Agreeable people tend to display sympathy and affection in various situations and usually find
productive ways to deal with problems. Agreeable people also are more generous and forgiving
(Dziak, 2017). As a leader, there will be times when the organization will face shortcomings or
there are internal problems... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Extraverted people are friendly, talk more in social situations, and are fueled by being around
other people (Dziak, 2017). When someone is in charge of something, they should also be
passionate about it. If the leader does not care why should anybody else? Most leaders are
energetic and sociable. It is an important trait to get people excited about your product. Most
organization and companies require people to spend their time or money on their product. Even
something like Facebook, which is free, requires people to spend time on its platform. Being
assertive does not mean being in your face or overbearing, which often turns people off, but
someone can be assertive in a non offensive way by being passionate. People need other people in
some form or fashion to be successful, so it is important to treat people respectfully so that they
would want to do business with you or buy your

Alzheimer s Disease Research Paper
Alzheimer s disease is a degenerative brain disease. It is a form of dementia most common in
older individuals, identifiable to scientists by the presence of amyloid plaques and tau tangles.
Most individuals associate the disease with memory loss, unusual behavior and moods, and
watching their loved ones fade away. While there are recognized genetic risk factors that may
contribute to disease onset, environmental and lifestyle factors also play a role in disease
development. Five FDA approved medications are currently on the market to treat symptoms, but
none are capable of halting or slowing progression of the disease, nor are they capable of treating
underlying causes. Though there is currently no known cure, scientists are working to... Show more

There are two important physiological abnormalities that define the disease: amyloid plaques and
tau tangles. Abnormal protein deposits throughout the brain form amyloid plaques and tau tangles.
Amyloid is a normally harmless protein that appears throughout the body. Cleavage of the amyloid
precursor protein by ОІ secretase and Оі secretase leads to the formation of beta amyloid, a toxic
version of the protein, which leads to the death of neurons. While the mode of action of beta
amyloid is still not definitively known, a 2012 study by the University of Michigan supports the
idea that it damages neuronal membranes (Moore). According to this theory, the plaques poke tiny
holes in the membrane, allowing calcium to flow into the neuron uncontrollably, leading to the
eventual death of the neuron. Another theory is that the beta amyloid breaks down to form free
radicals that attack the neurons. The degenerated neurons and the amyloid protein combine to form
sticky clumps, known as amyloid plaques, that the body is incapable of breaking down naturally. As
a result, these plaques build up throughout the brain, leading to the loss of connections between
neurons. According to research, plaque formation first occurs in the hippocampus, which plays a
vital role in memory formation. Overtime, additional brain structures are affected, and significant
brain tissue shrinkage

  • 2. SPF Baboons Case Study To dissect out the role of hTBM expression for extending the cardiac xenograft survival, three xenografts from donor pigs not expressing (GTKO.CD46) were transplanted in SPF baboons using previously used anti CD40 (2C10R4) antibody based immunosuppression. All heterotopic cardiac xenotransplantation s were done without any technical difficulty or perioperative complications. Transplanted recipient baboons were successfully extubated immediately following surgery and were active, eating, and generally well soon after the operation. Use of left ventricular telemetry implant and serial echocardiograms confirmed vigorous xenograft contractility following transplantation. In contrast, both IgM and IgG non Gal antibodies were increased when xenograft rejection was triggered by withdrawal of anti CD40 (2C10R4) antibody in a previous experiment (4). Besides our earlier report, Anti CD40 (2C10R4) antibody treatment is also shown to be associated with the prevention of induced anti pig humoral immune response in pig hematopoietic cell transplantation in baboon (18). We have previously reported a shorter cardiac xenograft survival (median 71 days) from GTKO.hCD46 donor pigs along with anti CD154 antibody based immunosuppression (2). Perhaps by using clinically available anti CD154 antibody along with GE pigs expressing hTBM will allow faster clinical transition. However, Anti CD154 antibody has been shown to cause thromboembolic complications which may limit its clinical application. Anti CD40(2C10R4) antibody blocks the same CD40/CD154 pathway without causing thromboembolism and has also been shown to prolong the graft survival in both the xeno and allotransplantation setting by us (4) and others (12) (19) but this agent is not currently approved for clinical use. In our recently reported study (4), low doses of anti CD40 (2C10R4) antibody treatment and early withdrawal it from the immunosuppressive regimen resulted in poor xenograft outcome (20). Madden believes several of Frank O Connor s stories reflect his personal life and goals. Jackie, the young protagonist, in the First Confession, loves his mother as equally as O Connor loved his mother. Madden also believes O Connor should have selected a religious calling because the priests mentioned in his stories incorporate the instrumental impact on the laity s lives (3227). Understanding women, contributed by his mother s influence, frequently are displayed in O Connor s writings. They talk about the horrific details of hanging for such vicious crimes. At first, Jackie is unwilling to confess but regretful for having to part with his new friend (the priest). He values him as an exceptionally entertaining character in the religious line (182). Jackie is a young naГЇve boy who is nervous about the transition of obligations according to his religion. He is planning to make his First Communion, but initially he is required to make his First Penance. Jackie proclaims, I was scared to death of confession (177). He thinks his sins are disgraceful, and he may be punished for them. On the other hand, he is petrified to make a bad confession because he does not want to burn in Hell for eternity like Mrs. Ryan taught him. Jackie s youth and innocence leads him to believe literally the tales that have been told to him about confession (178). Jackie thinks that his grandmother and sister are the core to all his evil doing, and he wishes death upon both of them. Most young children have these same feelings. Jackie s confidence increases because of the relationships he finds in his mother and the priest. Jackie s mother is the typical mom. She is always shielding him from the world, and especially his father s thrashings. It seems she is his only ally in the world until he meets the priest. • 5. My Day Of School After Winter Break Numb Toes and Good Times There are not many things I love more than the smell of pine trees, the cold brisk wind of the first snowfall, and the joy of Christmas time. I can see myself now, getting released on my last day of school before winter break. Second grade might not have been a struggle, but a couple weeks off of school was just what a little me needed. I trudged home through the snow and slush. The sidewalks were almost non existent in Michigan winters; you had to search for footprints made by others or risk a rolled ankle. Muddy slush seeped into my snow boots, yet still I had a grin peeled across my face. This smile was mostly a result of the day approaching, December 25th. Christmas mostly meant a couple things to me when I was little, presents, candy, and my favorite vacation out west to the mountains. The Christmas card had already sent out that year, it was all seven of us; heads morphed onto the Little Rascals characters. At the time this was probably relatively funny, but now it s pretty much just embarrassing. The poems on the cards were always the best, I m sure my second grader friends couldn t interpret the jokes my mom wrote, but their moms would. We would start planning our Christmas cards around September, it was way too early but I guess it was necessary, to create a comic masterpiece. I never understood how she made everything rhyme and flow so well, it still amazes me to this day. When I finally made it home, like clockwork, my mom yelled at me ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Maybe its renewed popularity was something to do with the very unique socio political situation in the 1960s echoing a the unique situation of the late eighteenth century, the heyday of the genre.) Since then there has been a deluge of commentary which has elevated the genre to a critical and scholarly favourite. It is often said that one of the unifying features of Romanticism is its intentional political relevance. Much of the canonical Romantic literature is inspired or informed by socio political events. We need only look at Blake s work or key poems by second generation Romantics like Shelley s Ode to the West Wind or The Mask of Anarchy to verify this. The same is true of Romantic Gothic which arose around that unique period in European history posthumously defined by the French Revolution but significant for its trans European massive cultural and social upheaval indicated in part by repeated rioting in Britain (Lowe, vii) and a widespread clamour for various reforms. Victor Sage writes, English Gothick of the eighteenth century is seen as a collective symptom of political pressure felt all over Europe. Occupational hazards in the workplace for employees with physical disabilities are sometimes difficult to acknowledge by the employer. Ramps for employees in wheelchairs may need to be installed if steps are the only entrance into the workplace. Also it may be necessary to install ramps inside the building if there are no elevators that are accessible for the employees. The reason these may be an occupational hazard is because the wheel chair may turn over when trying to maneuver steps, which could cause injuries such as broken bones. A physical disability can also cause occupational hazards in the workplace when there are no handicap accessible doors located in all work spaces. When there are no doors that have sensors, buttons, or ramps available that the disabled can use there is a risk for an occupational hazard. The presence of the court files helps with the researchstudy being reliable. If those files did not exist, one would question the reliability of the stories from younger ladies. To adjust for the credibility, the researcher obtained information from official criminal histories, interviews from offenders and law enforcement records (Hargreaves Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34). Sample When looking for a sample for a research project one must be sure that it is going to provide us with the answers to the questions we are looking to answer and it represents the sample that was in mind (Yegidis et al., 2012, p. 210). They are later forced to move to the Warsaw ghetto with the rest of the Jewish population, which was over 400,000 people(United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Warsaw ). After a few years, Szpilman s family was put on a train going to a concentration camp, however a Jewish police officer saved Szpilman and let him escape. New Jersey: John Wiley and Sons, Inc. 2010. Pp. 345. $17.35 (hard cover) This book brought out the failures of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in America s history, as orchestrated by Bernie Madoff. Harry Markopolos caught up with Madoff s Ponzi scheme earlier on in his career and saw all the red flags. There was no explanation of the continuous one percent yield in over forty five stocks that Madoff dealt with. Madoff took advantage of the laxity by the SEC officials in failing to follow up complains with an investigation, and the trust... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The employees and traders shrugged it off. As it would later turn out, Madoff s illegal investment business was indeed subsidizing his legal trading operation. Among the charges to which Madoff pleaded guilty in March were three counts of money laundering, which involved transferring millions of dollars from Madoff s fraudulent business through his London operation to his legitimate New York business. At least $250 million was transferred in this manner, according to the charges. In 2006 when the SEC launched an investigation into Madoff s dealings it was from persuasion from Markopolos that Madoff was running a Ponzi scheme and he was also a key source for the Mar/Hedge article. The SEC also examined whether Fairfield Greenwich, a giant feeder fund, was properly disclosing the extent of its reliance on Madoff. According to research by Harry Markopolos, it grew from as much as $7 billion in 2000 to as much as $50 billion by the end of 2005. What had started decades before as a small time recruiting effort by Madoff agents at country clubs had gone global. Massive international institutions such as Grupo Santander, Fortis Bank, and Union Bancaire PrivГ©e were all funneling billions sometimes through intermediaries to Madoff, lured by the call of steady 10% to 12% returns. • 31. Tibet Imperialism Vincenzo Villeggiante Tibet has had a very long history within and outside of China. For many years, Tibet was its own kingdom, ruling over the plateau for which it is named with full sovereignty. However, Tibet eventually came under the official rule of the Qing dynasty, the Manchu dynasty of China. Within Qing, Tibet retained a very high level of local autonomy, having its own government and many qualities similar to independent countries. In some ways, it didn t even identify as being part of Qing. An example is the time when China was divided into multiple spheres of influence between European powers. The British had enforced a trade law on China, but the Dalai Lama at the time refused to obey, citing Tibet as not part of China. This continued... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Republic of China never attained direct control over Tibet, and so there was a de facto independent Tibetan state. This unofficial and unrecognized country continued to exist for about forty years. During this time, Tibet was controlled by a very conservative people. Refusing to modernize and/or industrialize. When the communist revolution in China occurred, and the former government fled to Taiwan, they would have to face a new threat: the People s Republic of China. The People s Republic claimed that the Tibetan government was exploiting the citizens as serfs, and that they should be liberated from them by none other than the People s Liberation Army. Although Tibet actually had a high resemblance to medieval European feudalism, the government never exploited the citizens per se. When the PLA was at their doorstep, they were nowhere near prepared and were conquered by the Chinese. They were eventually officially annexed into China, and the 14th Dalai Lama was exiled to India. Under the PRC, the Tibetans endured many hardships that were brought upon them. The so called Great Leap Forward led to widespread starvation, and the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution led the Red Army to destroy thousands of cultural artifacts and sites, ... Such titles consist of Politicians, Lawyers, Doctors, Law Officials etc. including our former and past candidates of presidency. These Political figures are expected to guardianship the well being of the citizens in our country. Their means of interest in the people of our country is now being exposed for liberation, freedom and truth in which it is properly due to all men and women that are created equally. This essay will explore how abuse of authority impacts upon individual freedom in our society today. If we examine the first impact of abusive authority, we will find that moral standards are today, at its lowest percentile. It is fair to say that America has lost its morality. No longer are we conservative or discreet. Yet, we are outspoken and boastfully filled with pride and our very own alto ego; living for self. No longer are we caring or outreaching. Yet and still, we build a wall. For example, there are many obscurities that can be easily witnessed while watching American television. Whereas, many actors are now shown at their least of clothing or somewhat nudity in the midst of primetime broadcasting. What happened to broadcasting services only allowing such nature of television that is shown at a specific time during the night? When a child is affected from the mother using drugs during gestation, the child suffers for an infinite amount of time, so states should consider rethinking the laws to better support the child, not the mother. A child suffers with a numerous number of issues for eternity whenever his or her mother uses drugs during pregnancy. On the other hand, a child that is effected should have the rights to not live with the person who harmed him. Child abuse should be illegal in every state, not just the few that have made it illegal, and the mother should be tried and prosecuted. Along with keeping the child safe, prosecuting the mother also ensures the child to having a better life. The child will not have to worry about being made fun of, suffering from terminal diseases, and losing a parent to drug use. The child is more likely to live a healthier life if law enforcement can do away with the drug using mother. The laws that are in effect today are not feasible in most circumstances. A bad driver is not the teenager in the driver s seat for the first time, racing through a parking lot at ten miles per hour. A bad driver is neither the gray haired man driving under the speed limit on a one laneroad, nor the woman fixing her lipstick in the rearview mirror, instead of watching the light turn green. This essay does not refer to those without adequate drivingskills, but rather, to those who are capable of driving well but choose not to. In this essay, bad driving is defined as a mere disregard for the road regulations that do not directly benefit the driver, otherwise known as efficient driving.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The polite driver would find his place on the right side of the road, and put up with everyone around him driving five miles under what his grandma would be driving without her glasses. The efficient driver knows better. He swiftly transitions into the leftmost lane and drives at a pace that is comfortable to him, despite that said speed is often ten miles under the speed limit. He artfully sets his radio to the perfect volume to drown the honking of the cars behind him. It is important to note that the efficient driver does not use his turn signal when changing lanes. The sight of his car leaving the right lane should be enough to alert any drivers behind him, and if not, they should be paying closer attention. At this point, one may begin to question the rules of the road, and will eventually come to the realization that many of these so called regulations are simply suggestions. For example, the solid yellow lines in the middle of the road are present more of a guideline than a strict decree, so if it is more convenient, one can ignore the distinctions and take up as many lanes as is necessary. One must remember that he has a singular goal, and everyone else on the road is merely an obstacle in his way of achieving that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The debate over the legalization of drugs continues to disturb the American public. Such an issue stirs up moral and religious beliefs, beliefs that are contrary to what Americans should believe. I ask all of you to please keep an open mind and hear me out on this very controversial subject. All of us have in some way or another been affected by drug, whether it is a family member or the economic burden on society. While some of his peers are standing on a corner, selling drugs for a couple of hundred dollars an hour. So you risk going to jail. They are wearing designer clothes and are driving the new $50,000 cars. They are being seen everyday with a smug smile that tells the younger children that drugs pay. One way to combat the problem is to go after the pusher: arrest them and toss them in jail. This is the approach we use today but it is not an effective one. This is because people will do anything and use all their intellect to avoid arrest. A lot of Americans have sufficient talent to get away with illegal crimes. As we attempt to crack down on the violence and drug trafficking, we find that our justice and prison systems are ill equipped to handle the problem to the magnitude as we see now. Who is going to pay the billions of dollars required to build the prisons, hire the judges, train the police men for the load already on hand, let alone the huge one yet to come if we ever get serous about arresting dealers and the users. The growth of captives has been gradual in the early stage until the 1960s, and 1970s, when a substantial expansion took place. The growth may be seen as a clear evidence of the demand by corporations and institutions for a greater level of cost efficiency and response to new problems of risk management. The coming of captives brought significant changes in the business environment of risk management and even greater changes are envisaged to occur in the future. The changes captives brought along have affected many including commercial insurers and reinsurers, government bodies, the operation of insurance agents and brokers in the distribution systems for insurance. The effects are felt in the competitive pressure experienced by the traditional insurance market brought about by captive presence, which has brought about important underwriting changes among the commercial insurers. The current method of rate making by commercial insurers is altered significantly because of the growing importance of captive, since current rating classes now tend to be broad, permitting the average insurer to operate in a fairly level and stable rate structure across industries. Thus, firms with relatively favourable loss experience are contributing to losses of those with poorer experience. Captives constituted a big threat for the conventional insurance because they have a lot going for them. The traditional insurance market did not welcome captive movement because it saw the movement as a threat to its share of the insurance market. Those traits are: extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness. Each of these traits have been studied by many experts and defined based on the behaviors and attitudes that are attributed to most people. There are no absolutes meaning that just because most people who display a certain characteristic are effective leaders, does not mean that everybody who has that trait is an effective leader (Dziak, 2017). This paper will break down each of the Big Five traits and talk about their role in leadership. Agreeableness is defined as being kind and caring. Agreeable people tend to display sympathy and affection in various situations and usually find productive ways to deal with problems. There are two important physiological abnormalities that define the disease: amyloid plaques and tau tangles. Abnormal protein deposits throughout the brain form amyloid plaques and tau tangles. Amyloid is a normally harmless protein that appears throughout the body. Cleavage of the amyloid precursor protein by ОІ secretase and Оі secretase leads to the formation of beta amyloid, a toxic version of the protein, which leads to the death of neurons. While the mode of action of beta amyloid is still not definitively known, a 2012 study by the University of Michigan supports the idea that it damages neuronal membranes (Moore). According to this theory, the plaques poke tiny holes in the membrane, allowing calcium to flow into the neuron uncontrollably, leading to the eventual death of the neuron. Another theory is that the beta amyloid breaks down to form free radicals that attack the neurons. The degenerated neurons and the amyloid protein combine to form sticky clumps, known as amyloid plaques, that the body is incapable of breaking down naturally. As a result, these plaques build up throughout the brain, leading to the loss of connections between neurons. According to research, plaque formation first occurs in the hippocampus, which plays a vital role in memory formation. Overtime, additional brain structures are affected, and significant brain tissue shrinkage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
