Computer Engineering At Shanghai Jiao Tong University
During my college career, through various challenging courses and research experience, as a computer
engineering major, I not only obtained a solid background knowledge in this field but developed an
analytical mind for research and a passion to continuing working in computer architecture. After
deliberating on my future, I decided to apply for the Ph.D. program at (department of Computer
Science Engineering) at (the Pennsylvania State University).
I was honored to be admitted to the dual degree program of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the
University of Michigan in 2013. During my freshman and sophomore years at Shanghai Jiao Tong
University, I led some embedded system related projects, and developed small applications on
different kinds of microprocessors. Writing software that is so close to hardware made me curious
about how these microprocessor s internal architecture works. Therefore, I declared my major in
Computer Engineering when I started my junior year at the University of Michigan. However, what
really got me excited about the field of computer architecture was the Computer Architecture course.
The course gave me the opportunity to build a synthesizable two way out of order MIPS R10K based
processor in Verilog. By walking through the progress that computer engineers have been made since
last century, I realized that I can learn more about computer architecture and even make innovations
by joining them in academic research.

Homoid Homicide In Honduras
Honduras has a serious amount of homicides occurring in their community. Within their economy,
Honduras is one of the poorest countries, with about 65% of their citizens living in poverty. During his
term, President Zelaya stirred controversy among the country through acts of reforming the
constitution and making unethical policy decisions (U.S. Department of State, 2011). Honduras has
been ranked the most violence country on the globe. This accounts for the one death per hour ratio that
is due to political views of Zelaya, inequality among citizens, and organized crime (B Lajoie, D
Andrea, Rodriquez, Greenough, Patel, 2014). These occurrences of homicide are a critical aspect of
Honduras mental health and well being that desperately needs to be changed for the lives of their
citizens. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Homicide effects individual s daily lives as well as their mental health. The aftermath of death on one
s family and friends can cause serious mental health disorders. For example, post traumatic stress,
anxiety, and inconsistent sleep patterns (FrontiĆØres, 2017). When it comes to data collection of
homicide events in Honduras, some information may be inaccurate or incomplete due to the
inconsistency in reports. However, data collected about 9,453 violent deaths were reported in 2013 in
Honduras. Per one hundred thousand people, there was 318.3 homicides among men aged between
twenty to twenty four. Also, among those numbers, 15% of those killed were assaulted, stabbed, or
shot (B Lajoie, D Andrea, Rodriquez, Greenough, Patel, 2014). Through this data, the evidence is
clear that this act of homicide is still a deadly act that needs to be decreased in order to better the lives
of citizens and increasing Honduras s public

The Elizabethan Era
The Elizabethan Era, which was named after Queen Elizabeth I, is often referred to as the Golden Age
of England. It was a time of great change for England. It was a time of new ideas and new ways of
thinking. William Shakespeare played an enormous role in the Elizabethan theatre; his unique writing
style in The Taming of The Shrew influenced modern day literature. Queen Elizabeth played a huge
role in the Elizabethan era ( Queen ). The reign of Queen Elizabeth I is referred to as The Golden Age
( Queen ). Elizabeth was the daughter of King Henry VIII and his second wife, Anne Boleyn ( Queen
). She was born on September seventh 1533 ( Queen ). During childhood it was clear that Elizabeth
was gifted with knowledge, she spoke five fluent languages ( Queen ). Life continued on with more
complications but on November seventeenth 1558 Elizabeth took the throne of England ( Queen ).
Queen Elizabeth enjoyed watching playwrights. Watching plays was one of her many hobbies and she
impacted plays heavily because she was a huge supporter. Social class was also greatly impacted
during the Elizabethan time period. Commoners were the poor people who had to have the no high
paying jobs, these commoners are the lowest of the social class. Noble people were the higher class or
also called the wealthy these people were the people who had high paying jobs. One huge factor in
this era was the reoccurring Black Plague. The Black Plague caused many deaths. This plague caused

Skin Color Evolution
Skin color is a real life example of evolution in humans. In both the Skin Deep and the TED talk, they
discuss and take a deeper look into the differences in skin color. In both the article and the video they
hypothesized that our skin has developed over time to be dark enough to prevent the damaging
sunlight that has been harming our skin and the nutrient folate that it carries. However, at the same
time out skin is light enough to receive vitamin D.
Scientists have studied this topic extensively and overtime come to the conclusion that the distribution
of skin color is not random. Darker skin color has been found to typically come from closer to the
equator and lighter skin colors are typically coming from closer to the poles. Over time, ... Show more

After, when these people started leaving the tropic areas they had got a lot less UV radiation than they
were used to. As these humans started going to other regions of the world their skin had adapted to
that new place and its conditions. Which I believe shows evidence of evolution in humans, like they
said in the TED talk. But it took awhile and there are still some noticeable differences in color
between natives and those who had migrated, sometimes even thousands of years later.
Our skin color has changed over time to the area or climate that we have moved to that shows that
skin color is vital to our existence. Because its characteristics are so random we cant use it to find out
our relationships to other human populations. Although all of this was a hypothesis at the time it was a
very advanced one and fairly accurate. With advances in science today we have a better understanding
exactly why we have certain and different skin colors, but the fact that their theory was so close

This article develops a conceptual model to explain how culture impacts negotiation . It draws on
previous research on culture and on negotiation to develop an understandin g of how culture affects
negotiation processes and outcomes. The article begins with a review of fundamental concepts in the
literature on negotiation and culture. These concepts provide a language for what we know and what
we do not know about culture and negotiation and allow us to build a model of factors affecting inter
cultural negotiation process and outcome.
A MODEL OF INTER CULTURAL NEGOTIATION Negotiation
Negotiation is a form of social interaction. It is the process by which two or more parties try to resolve
perceived incompatibl e goals (Carnevale Pruitt, 1992). In order to understand the effect of culture on
negotiation, it is useful to have a mental model of negotiation. What is it that people mean when they
say they negotiate? What is involved in negotiating? What is a good outcome in negotiation? What
does it take to get a good outcome? What goes wrong in a negotiation that has a poor outcome?
However, if culture has an effect on negotiation, the mental models of negotiators from one culture
may not map on to the mental models of negotiators from another culture, making the speciĀ® cation
of a single mental model problematic. There are two ways to approach this problem of specifying a

The Effects Of Video Games On A Global Scale
Introduction:
Video games on a global scale have become one of the most lucrative of what is considered new
media in today s society. They came from humble beginnings in the form of games such as Pong and
Pacman, games that consisted of limited color and moving dots. Now the gaming industry is worth
billions of dollars. In a recent study conducted by Forbes magazine in 2012, figures showed that the
video game industry was worth an estimated 67 billion dollars and in 2017 it will be worth an
estimated 82 billion dollars (Gaudiosi, 2012). With its rise in popularity as a result of its technological

College Students . He states that Students may be able to report studying while watching TV, whereas
playing a video game may require more focused attention ( pg. 377). With video games demanding
more attention from the player, time is ultimately sacrificed for the perceived self gratification of the
player.
Recent research showed that heavy video game play had an effect on the ability of the gamer to
manage his/her time effectively. The purpose of this proposed study is to examine the relationship
between video game play and time management skills. First, this current research attempts to discover
whether or not gender plays a role in the relationship between time management and video game play.
It is also to find out the age groups that are most likely to practice poor time management skills as a
result of heavy video game play. Lastly, this proposed research aims to explore whether or not the
relationship between video game play and poor time management skills is genre specific. Upon
completion of this research, a greater and more complete understanding of the relationship between
heavy video game play and time management skills will be attained. The significance of this study is
rooted in the main objective of finding out the direct relationship between heavy video game play and
poor time management skills. After the study is

The World State controls the citizens by controlling their fertility. This quote shows the power the
World State has over overpopulation because they are deciding the fertility rates.
C. BBC stated that China s government says the one child policy, officially in place since 1979, has
prevented 400 million births. ii. This is a step forward in Huxley s vision because it is controlling the
number of family members per unite instead of allowing each family to decide on its own. It controls
population growth with the goal to lower population to a stable number.
Alexandra Paul stated that One of the advantages of having only a child in the family is the
opportunity given to the newborn of having a comfortable life. This is because all the attention, love
and financial resources of the parents will be enjoyed by the child. iii. Analysis: Having population
control children would live a better life due to the love they get. They would be more job opportunity
and many people would be content.
D. Our world is already taking steps toward that of Huxley s Brave New World due to the fact that we
are already placing policies like one child policy, which control the world s population.

But the man heading the Trump transition team s Social Security effort? Michael Korbey, a former

It s a failed system, broken and bankrupt, Korbey said as a lobbyist in the mid 1990s. Korbey

The 1953 U.S. Intervention in Iran
Once upon a time, in a mountainous land between Baghdad and the Sea of Caviar there lived a
nobleman. This nobleman, after a lifetime of carping at the way the kingdom was run, became Chief
Minister of the realm. Within a few months he had the whole world hanging on his words, his deeds,
his jokes, his tears, and his tantrums. His personal behavior, which included wearing pajamas for
numerous public appearances; speeches to the Majles (Parliament) from his bed, which was brought
into its chambers. Frequent spells of public weeping, helped focus world attention upon him during his
premiership. Yet, his people loved all that he did, and cheered him to the echo whenever he appeared

By 1951 Mohammad Mossadegh had established himself firmly in the political scene in the
mountainous country of Iran. Mossadegh ran for the office of Prime Minister with just one campaign
promise: to free Iran from the British imperial yoke (Gavin, 1999, p.64). He had also built his political
strength, based largely on his call to nationalize the concession and installations in Iran of the British
owned Anglo Iranian Oil Company (Risen, 2000, p.10). Mossadegh embodied the fierce nationalistic
pride felt by so many Iranians, this brought Mohammad Mossadegh an easy victory
(Gregory,1951,p.31). On May Day 1951, after three days of raging Pro Mossadegh rioting, Mossadegh
announced that the Majlis had passed the Nationalization Act, despite strong opposition by many
members of the Majlis (Gavin,1999, 65). By this time Mossadegh s power had grown so great that the
Shah (monarchy) was virtually forced to appoint him Premier. Even after being appointed to the
Premiership, popularity continued to skyrocket for Mossadegh. Mossadegh s popularity, growing
power, and intransigence on the oil issue were creating friction between the prime minister and the
Shah. These small victories wet Mossadegh s appetite for more power. As a result in the summer of
1952, Mossadegh demanded the Shah appoint him Minister of war

The Court System Of England And Wales
The court system in England and Wales means a thousand years of history and development
throughout different political and social climates. This essay will provide a brief history of this
evolution and evaluation of some advantages and disadvantages of a modern jury system.
According to The Open University (2014, section 10.1), under Anglo Saxon domination all disputes
were resolved in local courts called moots . These courts later developed and became Magistrates
Courts, still keeping their local function. Majority of all criminal cases are heard there, however the
courts can only decide on summary or triable either way offences, referring the most serious files to
the Crown Court.
Crown courts, which superseded the courts of assize and quarter sessions, were established under the
Courts Act 1971 to improve efficiency of the existing criminal justice system. The latter were local
courts of the Queen s Bench Division, which served a number of circuits by assembling juries and
hearing cases not serious enough to go before a High Court judge.
The Norman Conquest made significant changes to the English law by establishing the Curia Regis ,
the court which was ruled by the king and his appointed judges. Some key institutions of Parliament,
such as the common law courts including King s (Queen s) Bench, Common Pleas, Exchequer, and
the Court of Chancery evolved from the Curia Regis . The law became to be more centralised through
a unified court system to a national

Neutrinos Research Paper
Recently, scientists found the first known evidence of oscillating neutrinos, and have come to believe
that they re getting very close to understanding these bizarre particles.
FERMILAB LAUNCHES NEUTRINOS FARTHER
This scientific advancement is the result of Fermilab s ongoing NOvA experiment, which hopes to
uncover the secrets of those elusive particles called neutrinos. The study released its final results
earlier this week. The experiment s gigantic particle detector is capable of detecting neutrinos fired
from an impressive 500 miles distance, but the scientists are having a hard time forming significant
conclusions from this recent success. It s incumbent for these quantum physicists to progress their
theories because to understand which neutrinos are heavier or lighter will help us construct theories

FERMILAB S EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE
In order to detect these far flung neutrinos, Fermilab s neutrino beam uses an underground detector
capable of measuring the neutrino composition of each shot. After being fired, the neutrinos oscillate
500 miles through the Earth s crust. When one of the neutrinos collides with one of the atoms in the
detector, a signature trail of particles and light is released which is used to identify the neutrino as an
electron, muon or tau. Most neutrinos shot out of Fermilab are composed of muons, but because of
this experimental method, scientists can actually infer how many are transform in transit from muon to
electron.

Chin The World s Largest Producer Of Coke
Coke Industry China is the world s largest producer of coke, and there is evidence that China has for
the last decade manipulated production and prices. According to the OECD, China s use of export
quotas became more commonplace starting in 2004 and continued for several years. Coke export
allocations of 12 million tons in 2008 were cut to 11.9 million tons in 2009, to 9 million tons in 2010
and to 8.4 million tons in 2011. As China rolled out the export quota over these years, it concurrently
started to introduce export taxes on coke in 2006. The graph below shows China s ad valorem export
tax rates compared to Russia and the rest of the world in 2012. As depicted, China s export tax was
approximately 40%, while Russia s was significantly lower at 5% and the rest of the world almost non
existent.
This export tax essentially raised the price that importers abroad, including the United States, had to
pay at the end, making U.S. buyers of coke less competitive in the global supply chain. The added ad
valorem tax would suppress demand, thereby reducing the price that sellers would receive on the
market. When considering the aftermath of China s loss in the 2013 WTO case, it was forced to
eliminate the export restraint measures on the 9 raw materials, including coke. As a result, a tax free
situation meant that Chinese coke became cheaper again, which would have led to an increased supply
of coke exports to the United States.

Araby Coming Of Age Examples
Coming of age stories are an important subset of English literature. Araby and The Ball Poem are both
examples of such pieces. They both depict disappointment or loss in the main characters lives, as well
as the recognition that a replacement is something less than the original. In addition to this, they show
the characters thoughts changing in tone after a moment of significance in the plot. Araby in particular
shows a change in the main character due to it being a short story rather than a poem, and having more
time to develop the characterization.
In The Ball Poem, the child, the initial subject of the poem, loses his ball and watches it bounce all the
way down into the harbor, beyond recovery. After this, the speaker tells how the boy, senses first

Often, the event of growing up is represented as a series of events and experiences, culminating in the
realization that one is a child no longer. However, some forms of literature, due to length restrictions,
are unable to show the process in full, and so will describe the initiating event, which it is assumed
will eventually lead to the subject maturing over time. One example of this is the poem The Ball
Poem, by John Berryman; do to its relatively short length, Berryman told of the loss of the ball, which
was a metaphor for innocence and childhood, and how the child would now have to learn to deal with
the loss and keep going. Araby, in comparison, is a longer text, though still a short story, and as such is
not constrained by the same length restrictions. The main character s coming of age is, as such, shown
over several events, although they are still in a very short time span when compared to a full life of

The Concept of free tuition for university would eliminate student loans in Canada hence weakening
the banks of Canada and the nation s economy. Due to the interest on student loans, banks make a

While Socialism (equality) sounds as if it were a better economic system than capitalism (equity), it is
not. With history proving that Capitalism is a better economic system. If you look at the cold war
between the U.S.S.R (a socialist country) and the U.S.A (a capitalist country) for world power, it
becomes obvious that the capitalism is better economic system then socialism. As the U.S.S.R lost the

Adolf Hitler And The Nazi Rule
In the year 1939 World War Two came into play and chaos had erupted all across Europe. The war had
lasted for over 6 years and during that time period, and Hitler had made his mark in trying to eradicate
the Jews from existence and almost succeeded in his goal. The Jews were like a wrong answer to a
question and that Hitler could use an eraser to get rid of the mistakes. Hitler was gaining power as he
was reviving the Germans from the Great Depression and ending their suffering by solving all of their
woeful problems. He had gained a plentiful amount of popularity and eventually became the dictator
or Fuhrer of Germany through his revival of Germany. He and his Nazi army began the quest to take

No interference meant Hitler can achieve his goal in creating an ultimate German empire, and wiping
the Jews from the face of the earth. The very existence of the Jewish race depended on the help of
others. The Jews cannot go in this battle alone and the people grasped this. They know that they have
to do something, anything to help stop the occupation. Although the fear of a Nazi takeover in Europe
was strong many people risked their lives to for those who were incapable to fight themselves.
Through terror stricken hearts as the Nazis were attaining more control over Europe, the people of the
world still strived to make a stand and warn the Jews of the Nazi advancements. Trying to escape a
deadly force such as the Nazis is a difficult task to do especially if a person is going out on their own.
Though it often appeared that no one wished to help the victims in need, and that everyone has turned
completely against them there are those who willingly go out on a limb to help save the Jews; such as
the Poles, Chinese, Germans, Dutch, Americans, and Jews from neighboring villages who may not
may not witness the massacres of other Jewish lives. The people of the world still cared but were
extremely cautious. They knew for a fact that if they were to help aid the Jews in any way they put
themselves in jeopardy of being killed, or sent to a concentration camp to work as slaves until they die

Time Travel
For many years time travel was the stuff of science fiction. This was all just part of the world s
imagination until recently. Scientists now believe that the current laws of physics allow us to travel
though time. They believe that we can now travel back to see our founding fathers sign the declaration
of independence. We could travel to 2999 to witness the birth of the next new millennium. Such travel
would require a machine capable of withstanding great pressures and incredible amounts of speed.
The act of actually traveling though time is for the most part, agreed upon, but the implications of
such travel is not so decided upon. Many different theorists have different views of what could happen
and some go, as far as to say that if we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Time for a stationary observer on earth and for an astronaut on a spaceship of high velocity is
different. A person s heart beats to the rhythm of the realm it is in. One realm of time seems the same
as any other to the person in the realms, but not to an observer outside that realm that can see the
difference. As an example, astronauts traveling at 99% the speed of light could make a trip to the star
Procyon that is 11.4 light years away in 23 earth years round trip (Hewitt 229). Because of time
dilation, it would seem that only 3 years passed for the astronauts, there clocks would be 3 years older;
they would be biologically only 3 years older (Hewitt 229). It would be the mission control people
that would appear to be 23 years older. The question is why dose this happen. Let s say that we are in
our hometown, looking at the grandfather clock that is in the center of town. The clock reads 12:00
noon. Light from the sun bounces off the face of the clock and hits our eyes. We then turn our head
and the light misses us and travels off into space. In space, there is a space ship that is traveling at the
speed of light. An astronaut looks out his passenger side window and sees the reflection of the clock.
It reads 12:00 noon. As he continues to move at the speed of light, he keeps up with the reflected face
of the clock. In the space ship time would pass as normal, but time in the universe would have seemed
to stop. This might sound like

Liberalism is defined by the desire to minimise the role of the state Discuss. Liberalism as an ideology
revolves around the idea of freedom for the individual. The reason for this is due to the liberal s view
of human nature; they see the human being as unique and rational; able to make decisions in their best
interest. Although all liberals agree on individual freedom, when it comes to the role of the state they
are split down the middle. On one side there are the classic liberals who believe in as little state
intervention as possible, and on the other side there is the modern liberals who believe state
intervention is necessary as it can develop people and create equal opportunity. When looking at a
liberal view of the state it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In classic liberals eyes, true freedom is that when the individual is left completely to their own desire,
at best the state can be seen as a necessary evil , or as Jefferson summed up, Government is best when
governed least . On the other hand there are the modern liberals, who in contrast, have advanced a
developmental form of individualism that prioritises human flourishing over the quest for interest
satisfaction. This idea says that people can be developed in order to become the best person they can
be. In contrast to classic liberals, modern liberals follow positive freedom. This was an idea proposed
by Green in the late nineteenth centaury; it recognizes that liberty may also be threatened by social
disadvantage and inequality. This, in turn, implied a revised view of the state. By protecting
individuals from the social evils that threaten to limit their lives, the state can expand freedom, and not
merely diminish it. In the place of the old minimal state, modern liberals have devised a new enabling
state , exercising an increasingly wide range of social and economic responsibilities. Therefore
modern liberals differ from the classic liberal in terms of the individual, as the classics believe the
state restricts and limits individual freedom, whereas modern liberals see the state as enabling and
protective, and can therefore boost levels of individual freedom

Shiloh Literary Analysis
What makes a seemingly normal book a classic? Literary lenses. One of those classic books, Shiloh by
Phyllis Reynolds, shows the reader justice, difficult choices, and allows the reader to discover how it
uses literary lenses to become a classic. By studying the novel through various literary lenses, the
reader can see different perspectives which is important because it brings more depth and dimension,
making Shiloh a children s classic.
Word choice, figures of speech, literary devices, symbols, themes in Shiloh help bring the book to life

1 Introduction
Uranium should be produced in a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible way because this is
important for consumers, producers and society as a whole. The production of uranium through
hydrometallurgical processes such as leaching, ion exchange, solid liquid separation and solvent
extraction has not been without controversy, especially during the early stages of the industry.
Nowadays, the industry has changed drastically and a lot more can be done to ensure that safety is a
number one priority.
2 Safety issues
The process of mining uranium releases radon into the atmosphere as well as other heavy metals if not
properly managed. Radon is a colourless, tasteless gas and exposure to high levels can increase the
chances of getting cancer. As a result, every country that has nuclear facilities, has regulations to
ensure public land, air and water (both surface and groundwater) are protected now and in the future
(Vance, 2014).
The erosion of tailings and waste rock facilities has led to contaminants (either solid or in
ground/surface water) entering

The American Dream In Today s Society
The American Dream is a term that is often thrown around when talking about the careers and futures
of American youth, but what is the American Dream referring to? There is no clear cut definition of
the American Dream as it is a term in which the meaning is altered based on the person defining it
because of their personal background or bias. James Truslow Adams in his book The Epic of America
gives a more cohesive definition of the American Dream as he states: life should be better and richer
for everyone, with the opportunity for each according to ability or achievement regardless of social
class or circumstances of birth . The American Dream can be characterized as a rich life full of

like not much one concussion a year can have many side effects of future play. And for every 10,000

there are approximately 1,088,158 amatuer football players at the high school level in the United

that leaves hundreds of concussions a year that were documented. When is comes to high school
athletics within most public schools in the United States allow everyone to equal opportunity to play.
Leading to an increase in inexperienced players in the sports. This is predominant in football
especially where students use improper form when hitting making extreme contact with the top of the

John Irving creates a tragic effect through his use of third person narration, foreshadowing, and

Owen is a symbol of American ideals, so the loss of Owen is even more tragic because it also stands
for the loss of American ideals. Owen follows the Vietnam war and remembers everything about it. In
high school Owen is The Voice of the school newspaper and through his participation in The Voice he
expresses his ideas about the failures of America and comments on other issues as well. Since Owen s
ideas and commentary are cited as The Voice, he is detached from who he is and he comes off as
important and knowing, showing how he symbolizes American ideals. The Voice is in line with
American ideals because The Voice is always calling out Gravesend Academy, which isn t egalitarian,

Ambiguity In Early Adulthood
Ambiguity means that an individual has both male and female genitalia. Boys can appear to be male
while having female genes and hormones. Girls can seem like a girl while harboring male genes and
hormones. This can make it very hard for someone to identify with one sex or the other. There are
roughly twenty four disorders that can lead to this kind of confusion. They are called Disorders of
Sexual Development or DSD s. Many of these disorders are rare; however, some of them are relatively
common. They can be as common as having twins or red hair. Some DSD s can be harmful to your

The Types Of Parliamentary Democracies
The two types of Parliamentary democracies are direct democracy, also known as consociational or
consensus democracy, and representative democracy, otherwise called majoritarian democracy
(Dickovick 118 120). A consensus democracy is founded on the principle that the citizens govern
directly and that power is distributed between the executive and legislative branches to prevent and
limit one branch from gaining too much power. An example of a consensus democracy is Switzerland,
as it promotes consensus of the people, and it exhibits the factors necessary for a direct democracy.
Alternatively, a majoritarian democracy is based on the principle of majority rules, and that power is
concentrated and centralized. The United Kingdom is an example of a majoritarian democracy
because it follows the majority rule principle and possesses all the qualities of a representative
democracy. While consensus democracy and majoritarian democracies are both forms of democracy,
the contrasting approaches to democratic rule they engage in foremost pertaining to the ideas of
distribution of political power, causes the two types of democracy to be diametrically opposite. A
consociational or consensus democracy is commonly used in heterogeneous or plural societies, as a
majority rule democracy would be unpredictable and hazardous in such a society. consensus

The Ethnic Issues of the Bedouins
Bedouins ethnic issues Abstract The focus of ethnicity and ethnic issues in the Middle East has been
associated with the Arabs in the Palestine and the Jews in Israel. Research carried in the previous

The 11 Principles Of Quality
Quality. Such a simple word with a multitude of meanings. I must admit, prior to this course, I was
rather naĆÆve about what quality entailed. I definitely did not have a concrete definition of what quality
was or stood for. It simply seemed as though quality was something that worked most of the time.
After the studies from this course I have a much better grasp of how to define quality and what exactly
quality means in various areas of life and business. For instance, the 11 Baldrige Principles of Quality
are an easily used metric for defining the quality of an organization. Previously, I never would have

charity is an underlying theme in all they do (Newman s Own, n.d.). This drew me towards them as a
company, then I noticed how much they value their employees and how their core values tend to line
up with the 11 Baldrige principles (Newman s Own, n.d.). After looking into this company and seeing
how they operate, I decided to purchase as many products as I could from them and ensure other
people were aware of their mission. This is something that would never have been in my realm of
possibilities prior to this course. This is not to say I was unaware of being socially responsible prior to
this course. It is simply highlighting how my thought pattern has been modified since learning about
these specific 11 Baldrige Principles of Quality. After having such an epiphany about quality and how
I grade various

Computer Engineering At Shanghai Jiao Tong University During my college career, through various challenging courses and research experience, as a computer engineering major, I not only obtained a solid background knowledge in this field but developed an analytical mind for research and a passion to continuing working in computer architecture. After deliberating on my future, I decided to apply for the Ph.D. program at (department of Computer Science Engineering) at (the Pennsylvania State University). I was honored to be admitted to the dual degree program of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of Michigan in 2013. During my freshman and sophomore years at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, I led some embedded system related projects, and developed small applications on different kinds of microprocessors. Writing software that is so close to hardware made me curious about how these microprocessor s internal architecture works. Therefore, I declared my major in Computer Engineering when I started my junior year at the University of Michigan. However, what really got me excited about the field of computer architecture was the Computer Architecture course. The course gave me the opportunity to build a synthesizable two way out of order MIPS R10K based processor in Verilog. By walking through the progress that computer engineers have been made since last century, I realized that I can learn more about computer architecture and even make innovations by joining them in academic research. Within their economy, Honduras is one of the poorest countries, with about 65% of their citizens living in poverty. During his term, President Zelaya stirred controversy among the country through acts of reforming the constitution and making unethical policy decisions (U.S. Department of State, 2011). Honduras has been ranked the most violence country on the globe. This accounts for the one death per hour ratio that is due to political views of Zelaya, inequality among citizens, and organized crime (B Lajoie, D Andrea, Rodriquez, Greenough, Patel, 2014). These concepts provide a language for what we know and what we do not know about culture and negotiation and allow us to build a model of factors affecting inter cultural negotiation process and outcome. A MODEL OF INTER CULTURAL NEGOTIATION Negotiation Negotiation is a form of social interaction. It is the process by which two or more parties try to resolve perceived incompatibl e goals (Carnevale Pruitt, 1992). In order to understand the effect of culture on negotiation, it is useful to have a mental model of negotiation. What is it that people mean when they say they negotiate? What is involved in negotiating? What is a good outcome in negotiation? What does it take to get a good outcome? What goes wrong in a negotiation that has a poor outcome? • 13. The Court System Of England And Wales The court system in England and Wales means a thousand years of history and development throughout different political and social climates. This essay will provide a brief history of this evolution and evaluation of some advantages and disadvantages of a modern jury system. According to The Open University (2014, section 10.1), under Anglo Saxon domination all disputes were resolved in local courts called moots . These courts later developed and became Magistrates Courts, still keeping their local function. Majority of all criminal cases are heard there, however the courts can only decide on summary or triable either way offences, referring the most serious files to the Crown Court. Crown courts, which superseded the courts of assize and quarter sessions, were established under the Courts Act 1971 to improve efficiency of the existing criminal justice system. The latter were local courts of the Queen s Bench Division, which served a number of circuits by assembling juries and hearing cases not serious enough to go before a High Court judge. The Norman Conquest made significant changes to the English law by establishing the Curia Regis , the court which was ruled by the king and his appointed judges. Chin The World s Largest Producer Of Coke Coke Industry China is the world s largest producer of coke, and there is evidence that China has for the last decade manipulated production and prices. According to the OECD, China s use of export quotas became more commonplace starting in 2004 and continued for several years. Coke export allocations of 12 million tons in 2008 were cut to 11.9 million tons in 2009, to 9 million tons in 2010 and to 8.4 million tons in 2011. As China rolled out the export quota over these years, it concurrently started to introduce export taxes on coke in 2006. The graph below shows China s ad valorem export tax rates compared to Russia and the rest of the world in 2012. As depicted, China s export tax was approximately 40%, while Russia s was significantly lower at 5% and the rest of the world almost non existent. This export tax essentially raised the price that importers abroad, including the United States, had to pay at the end, making U.S. buyers of coke less competitive in the global supply chain. The added ad valorem tax would suppress demand, thereby reducing the price that sellers would receive on the market. When considering the aftermath of China s loss in the 2013 WTO case, it was forced to eliminate the export restraint measures on the 9 raw materials, including coke. As a result, a tax free situation meant that Chinese coke became cheaper again, which would have led to an increased supply of coke exports to the United States. Araby in particular shows a change in the main character due to it being a short story rather than a poem, and having more time to develop the characterization. One realm of time seems the same as any other to the person in the realms, but not to an observer outside that realm that can see the difference. As an example, astronauts traveling at 99% the speed of light could make a trip to the star Procyon that is 11.4 light years away in 23 earth years round trip (Hewitt 229). Because of time dilation, it would seem that only 3 years passed for the astronauts, there clocks would be 3 years older; they would be biologically only 3 years older (Hewitt 229). It would be the mission control people that would appear to be 23 years older. The question is why dose this happen. Let s say that we are in our hometown, looking at the grandfather clock that is in the center of town. The clock reads 12:00 noon. Light from the sun bounces off the face of the clock and hits our eyes. We then turn our head and the light misses us and travels off into space. In space, there is a space ship that is traveling at the speed of light. An astronaut looks out his passenger side window and sees the reflection of the clock. It reads 12:00 noon. As he continues to move at the speed of light, he keeps up with the reflected face of the clock. In the space ship time would pass as normal, but time in the universe would have seemed to stop. Liberalism as an ideology revolves around the idea of freedom for the individual. The reason for this is due to the liberal s view of human nature; they see the human being as unique and rational; able to make decisions in their best interest. Although all liberals agree on individual freedom, when it comes to the role of the state they are split down the middle. On one side there are the classic liberals who believe in as little state intervention as possible, and on the other side there is the modern liberals who believe state intervention is necessary as it can develop people and create equal opportunity. When looking at a liberal view of the state it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In classic liberals eyes, true freedom is that when the individual is left completely to their own desire, at best the state can be seen as a necessary evil , or as Jefferson summed up, Government is best when governed least . On the other hand there are the modern liberals, who in contrast, have advanced a developmental form of individualism that prioritises human flourishing over the quest for interest satisfaction. This idea says that people can be developed in order to become the best person they can be. In contrast to classic liberals, modern liberals follow positive freedom. This was an idea proposed by Green in the late nineteenth centaury; it recognizes that liberty may also be threatened by social disadvantage and inequality. This, in turn, implied a revised view of the state. By protecting individuals from the social evils that threaten to limit their lives, the state can expand freedom, and not merely diminish it. In the place of the old minimal state, modern liberals have devised a new enabling state , exercising an increasingly wide range of social and economic responsibilities. Therefore modern liberals differ from the classic liberal in terms of the individual, as the classics believe the state restricts and limits individual freedom, whereas modern liberals see the state as enabling and protective, and can therefore boost levels of individual freedom ...
