Mote Marine Internship Program
Living in Florida provides an opportunity that varies in comparison to anywhere else. Due to the
beaches, programs, even the climate, there is an aspect in which certain circumstances can be viewed.
By researching the surroundings, an individual can begin to understand the world as a whole, as well
as the way it functions. Through the Mote Marine Internship Program, I will be able to glean a new
perspective that will aid me throughout my schooling. I aspire to enter the field of Medicine and
become a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. With the chance to research, this aspiration can become a

Copa Cruise Case
Copa Cruises Welcome Aboard! Copa Cruises is a 40 year old company that offers dining and
sightseeing cruises. What started with only one ship at Maryland s Eastern Shore, is now a big
business operating at multiple locations with 40 vessels. Copa operates scheduled tours at least twice
daily during the peak travel/tourism seasons at each of its locations. The total number of scheduled
tours varies based on the number of vessels available at each location. Copa also offers its ships
exclusively for groups. In fact, a significant portion of Copa s revenues come from group bookings.
Typically, group customers book for corporate events, weddings, or private celebrations (e.g. family
reunion). Copa customizes the table arrangement, the deck, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Using all the transactions in the data set, determine the revenue maximizing price for Copa. Here is a
step by step approach: a) Fit a logit price response curve to the data using the MLE approach
discussed in class. (NOTE: For better numerical precision and to get good results in Excel, use prices
in 100s. That is if the quote is $150 per person for a contract, use $1.5 per person in the MLE
calculations.) b) Based on the fitted logit curve, what is the price (per person) that maximizes expected
revenue per event? What is the expected revenue per transaction for that price? c) Assuming the
annual number of inquiries remains the same, what would be the total expected revenue for the
company if the price you determined in part (b) is used? How does the annual expected revenue
compare to the total revenue earned by Copa in 2007? 2) Analyze the data to determine whether there
are multiple price segments. a) What is your segmentation criterion? Explain clearly. b) What is the
revenue maximizing price for each segment? What is the expected revenue for each transaction in that
segment? (You have to repeat the analysis in part (1) for each of the segments.)

Israel s Involvement In The 1967 June War
The nature of Israel s involvement in the 1967 June War can be aptly portrayed as both a prime
example of pre emptive self defence of the nation and as a rapacious campaign of self interested
opportunism. A central tenet of the Israeli position that Arab encroachment posed a danger to the
continued existence of Israel is that the short and long term consequences of Israel not acting
decisively were disastrous and had to be avoided. The partisan essence of the Six Day War is
exemplified through the Arab narrative s empathetic denial that Israel acted defensively and their
testimony that the actual aggressor in this conflict was Israel. Primary source documents, particularly
declassified intelligence reports, provide a unique prism through which one can deconstruct some of
the underlying principles that steer Israel s justifications of war against its foes. Likewise, the rejection
of elements of Israel s narrative by esteemed Israeli s such as Yitzhak Rabin and Abba Eban indicates
that certain facets of its conduct in the June War cannot be reasonably understood as being defensive.

M. A. El Kony, who served as the United Arab Republic s ambassador to the United Nations,
succinctly summarised the Arab narrative by stating Israel has committed a treacherous premeditated
aggression against the United Arab Republic . The notion that Israel had explicitly planned the Six
Day War as a land grabbing maneuverer is utterly contradictory to the principles encapsulated within
the ideology of defensive warfare. Consequently, it becomes vital to analyse contemporary source
material to determine the veracity of the Arab narrative as doing so will enable an unbiased observer
to form a more nuanced position that could deviate considerably from the Israeli

Bubonic Plague In The 14th Century
Have you ever wondered how harmful one disease can be? Back in the 14th century there was a
deadly outbreak. This outbreak had a very dreadful outcome for the carrier of the disease. This
outbreak killed nearly 60% of the European population. This outbreak was called the Bubonic Plague
it had many awful symptoms and could be spread very easy.
There was many ways for the Bubonic Plague to be spread in the 14th century. It was spread around
by fleas and rats; for a human to contain this disease is for them to get bitten or scratched by a flea or
rat. This disease could also be spread by human contact just the same as flu. There was many people
in risk of this disease especially if they tried to help someone who had it. This could have been

Risk Arbitrage Case
Risk Arbitrage: Abbott Labs and Alza
Harvard Business Review Case Study
1. BACKGROUND
Risk Arbitrage is essentially just arbitrage with some element of risk. Three main types of risk
arbitrage are merger and acquisition arbitrage (also known as just merger arbitrage), liquidation
arbitrage, and pairs trading. We will focus on merger arbitrage, as it pertains to this case study. Merger
arbitrage is an investment strategy that chooses to capitalize upon arbitrage that presents when a
merger or acquisition deal is announced. Essentially, an arbitrageur is seeking to profit from the
movements of the acquirer s and or target s stock price from the merger. There are two main types of
mergers, a cash merger and a stock merger, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chris acquired 260,000 shares at $48/share, which came out to a $12.48 million allocation. Since the
announced exchange rate was 1.2, Chris also shorted 312,000 shares of Abbott Labs
(260,000*1.2=312,000) at $43.50. If the deal did go through, Chris would expect positive returns
because the stock price of Alza would increase as a result of the merger (long position would profit)
and the stock price of Abbott would decrease as a result of the merger (short position would profit).
Another option Chris could take would be to buy Alza put options maturing December 18th at $3.25 a
share for a strike price of $40.00 (Alza s current share price is $40.12). This could serve to hedge his
current position, since

The Cell Cycle, Genetic Variation, Mendelian Genetics, And...
Introduction: This essay will explore the cell cycle, cancer, cancer, mitosis and meioses, genetic
variation, Mendelian genetics, and complex genetic inheritance. Each area will be broken down in
further detail, and the result should demonstrate the knowledge learned on the subjects.
The Cell Cycle
The cell cycle is a series of stages that occurs when a new cells makes the division from the parent cell
to two daughter cells. This is a stage in cellular reproduction. The cell cycle consists of three phases,
interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis. During Interphase, a cell will continue to perform its functions as
usual. The time frame for Interphase varies; while an embryonic cell will take just a few hours to
complete the cycle, a stem cell from an adult can take 24 hours (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). After
the interphase stage completes itself, a complete nuclear division happens and mitosis occurs. During
the stage of mitosis, the daughter cells will receive the same amounts of the contents of the parent cell.
Throughout the last stage, in the cytoplasm there is a division known as Cytokinesis (Mader,
Windelspecht, 2015). Cytokinesis occurs differently in plant cells than it does in animal cells, as the
cell wall around the plant prevents the process from happening the same way. Instead, a new plasma
membrane and cell walls are built are built between the daughter cells. However, in animal cells a
single cell will become two (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015).

The Lunar Phase
The phases of the moon, relative to the Earth and Sun, are collectively called the Lunar Phase, and are
a 29.5 day cycle there a four main phases; new moon (1st quarter), half moon (2nd quarter), full moon
(3rd quarter) and another half moon (4th quarter). The phases of the moon occur because the moon
reflects the light of the sun, and we, on Earth, see the reflected light; as the moon orbits the Earth, the
amount of Sun that the Moon reflects changes.
Any phase of the moon, from the new moon to the full moon, is described as Waxing, whilst any
phase between the full moon to the new moon is called Waning.
Any phase where over half the moon is visible is called Gibbous. Before the moon is half full, it is
called a Crescent, and after the

Efficient Resource Allocation In Cognitive Radio Networks
Efficient resource allocation in cognitive radio networks considering time varying constraints
Abstract:
Wide spread acceptance of wireless technologies has given rise to increase in demand for bandwidth
.cognitive radio was developed as a promising technique to overcome the scarcity of spectrum
resources in wireless communication. The term cognitive radio is defined as an intelligent radio that
can be programmed and configured dynamically. Particular portion of the spectrum can be used only
by a specific user of communication systems i.e. licensed user (or) primary user (PU). The secondary
user is cognitive user (CR). There are two main paradigms to implement CR in practical, namely
interweave and underlay techniques. The main motive of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In underlay transmission method the secondary users use the licensed band along with the active
primary users but to keep the interference to the PU s under a predefined threshold level the SU s will
control their power accordingly, where as in interweave transmission the SU s use the licensed band
when no active primary user is present [3].
Spectrum sensing in cognitive radio is performed to know the surrounding radio environment such as
PU s existence and usage of spectrum in geo graphical area and it determine the spectrum holes.
Based on the spectrum sensing results, the process of identifying the best channel to meet the QOS to
the user is known as spectrum management. It assigns that channel to the cognitive user. Scheduling
coefficients, rate, power are the resources available for cognitive radio to adapt. In spectrum
management by using some time varying constraints it identifies the best channel in the spectrum, but
there are still few challenges in design faced by cognitive radio paradigm For controlling interference
we need some extra constraints. The volatile nature of CR may cause outdated statistical channel state
information. It is difficult to acquire instantaneous CSI of the PU.
For first design challenge, interference can inflicted by either through average (long term) transmit
power constraints or instantaneous (short term) constraints [4]. The instantaneous constraints have
been focused as the second design challenge, handling these constraints

Selma Book Vs Book Essay
The conflicts met between the Civil Rights Movement protesters and the white people of the South
were incredibly gruesome. While peace and equality for African Americans was the driving force of
the protests, violence and inhuman resistance was the force for the white people. In the March Trilogy
Books, written by John Lewis and Andrew Aydin, and in the movie Selma, written by Paul Webb and
directed by Ava DuVernay, we are given a glimpse of these troubling times during the 1960 s. The
tone was very dark, harsh, and violent. Because voting rights and equality were important to them, the
mass of marchers continued their protests despite the beatings and cruelty they faced. Although there
were horrendous acts made against the African ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where a crowd of resisters were waiting for them. Even though the marchers faced violent opposition
and met with conflict, they continued their protests. The books and the movie displayed conflict
throughout. One example is during the first attempt to cross the bridge, when the marchers were met
by the Alabama State Troopers. It went very dark, very quick, as the troopers barged towards them,
making this day known as Bloody Sunday , March 7, 1965. When asked for his comments in the
movie by the press after the brutal attack on the marchers, King says While rageful violence continues
towards the unarmed people of Selma, while they are assaulted with tear gas and batons like enemy in
a war, no citizen of this country can call themselves blameless, for we all bear a responsibility for our
fellow man. I am appealing to men and women of God and goodwill everywhere, white, black and
otherwise. If you believe all are created equal, come to Selma. Join us. Join our march against
injustice and inhumanity. We need you to stand with us . The second attempt to cross the bridge on
March 9, 1965 brought clergy, men, and women from all over to join. But faced conflict as well, this
time between Martin Luther King Jr, and the marchers themselves. However, there was a major
difference regarding this attempt to cross, between the books and the movie. In the books, the
marchers were met on the bridge by a Federal Official who

scientists who are using the same methods and tests on the same virus cannot come to the same
conclusion, how could they be so unanimous in a more complicated subject like Bioidentical
Hormones? As for the FDA s decision that the risks of Bioidenticals are the same as those for
synthetic hormones, what are these opinions based on? Did the FDA test Bioidentical Hormones? Not
that I m aware of. They assumed that Bioidenticals work the same as synthetic hormones, which we
know might be in fact harmful. It s like assuming that a one dollar bill has the same value as a hundred
dollar bill, because they re the same size. On the other hand, proponents of Bioidentical Hormone
Replacement Therapy are saying that these hormones are safe and have almost no side effects. Two
French studies published in 2008 suggest that Bioidenticals are safer than conventional HRT.
According to Dr. Kent Holtorf s literature review bioidential hormones appears to be safer and more
potent then synthetic therefore physicians may opt for biodenticals for now unless new data is
available from new studies.

Privacy Is Not The State Or Condition Of Being Free
Privacy means the state or condition of being free from being observed or disturbed by other people.
Privacy is something that we all take for granted because we don t know how to live our lives without
it and in most cases we never have, well not like in the 1984 and The Circle. Without privacy, people
would not be comfortable doing most of the things that they do on a daily basis. If we were being
watched and listen to day in and day out then we would be living like prisoners. We would be limited
to what we say, who we talk to, and sometimes even who we date. When there is privacy in
relationships, it gives it a greater bond and makes those people closer to each other. Whether its two
best friends gossiping or two lovers getting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because, of the telescreens, they had to be stealthy in saying what they had to do. With the thought
police, telescreens, and anyone else that could not be trusted roaming everywhere, it was tough.
Orwell tells us how much the price of privacy is worth and is sacrificed for when Julia and Winston
betray each other at the end. Orwell sends many messages through out the whole story. First, it is valid
evidence that without privacy, people have to follow the rules of which the government enforces upon
them. Every government has their set of rules, but without privacy, the government is full of control in
what it enforces and what you think. On a social and personal level, we see that Julia and Winston
have to secretly have their relationship. This lead to them eventually rebel and get caught in the story.
Orwell is warning us that a relationship is build upon trust and privacy. If we can t speak our minds on
just normal stuff to a single individual or may be a group; then their is a issue. This issue can affect the
quality of the relationship. One may not be comfortable or even trust the other party due to the lack of
privacy, and whats a friendship without privacy? But, the bottom line main thought of what can
happen if the government does not give us privacy. We see the consequences in the story The Circle ,
and realistically speaking, in modern day society. We have

The Parts Of A Community Analysis
1. Discuss the parts of a community analysis report why each part is important.
Defining borders is important for the patrons to understand the community in which the library serves.
It s also important due to knowing the development of the collection which caters to the patrons of the
community. The borders can be defined through zip codes, and service areas. (Disher, 2007, p. 10)
Understanding the borders of the library allows the staff to understand who they are servicing, and
what trends are a part of their patrons. Defining borders is also important to respect the neighboring

acquiring the materials that are needed for their patrons. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s also important in collecting the circulation data to find out more about the active users of the
library. (Disher, 2007, p. 10)
Understanding and using the data is the most important part of creating the analysis report. Some
create charts to illustrate the data. But a major part of understand the data, is to know that it s forever
changing. (Disher, 2007. p.10)
2. Discuss the parts of a collection development policy and why each part is important.
The introduction is the first part of the collection development policy and its importance is to provide
the patrons an answer to why the policy has been created. To inform the users on how often it has been
reviewed, and when revisions may take place (Disher, 2007, p. 48).
The mission, vision, and goals is the second part of the policy and it plays a part in allowing the users
to understand the purpose and meaning of the library. The vision takes place to illustrate the short and
long term goals of the library (Disher, 2007, p. 48).
Community served is a part of the policy in regards to showing the demographic in which the Library
serves. It shows the reason for what the collection consist of, regarding the community (Disher, 2007,
p. 48). The importance of the community served part of the policy is to show the need of the collection
for the community.
The responsibility for collection development is the fourth part of the policy in which it allows the

What A Postnatal Abdominal Palpation Is Important For A...
This essay will first describe partnership and how a midwife working in the continuity of care model
develops and maintains it. Secondly, this essay will describe what a postnatal abdominal palpation is,
why it is done and what the outcomes may be. It will also describe the anatomy and physiology of a
uterus and involution. Lastly, a description of how the assessment is conducted and how during this
partnership and cultural safety is maintained by the midwife.
The partnership between a woman and her midwife is the key to a successful birth experience. This
partnership is a professional friendship that allows midwives to get to know women and their bodies.
This model identifies midwifery partnership as a relationship of sharing between the women and the
midwife, involving trust, shared control and responsibility and shared meaning through mutual
understanding. It is the sharing relationship which constitutes midwifery and it is one which spans the
life experience of pregnancy and childbirth. (Guilliland, K., Pairman, S, 2010, p. 7).
This partnership is formed throughout the continuity of care Model. According to Leap Pairman
(2010) The development of this partnership relationship relies on midwives being able to work in
continuity of care models so that mutual trust and understanding between midwives and women can
evolve over time (p. 338). The continuity of care model that lead maternity carers work with, is where
midwives support woman from the day they find out

For organization that have not planned ahead for visibility, this issue frequently comes to a breaking

software and patch requirements. It can also confirm that devices are connecting at the appropriate
place, and at an appropriate time. The Network Sentry security automation and orchestration solution
then continues to monitor and log all device activity, and how devices interact with other equipment.
This visibility and control is an important part of an IoT strategy. Organizations can also use Network
Sentry to confine devices to specific LANs and microsegments on the network. This can isolate
critical data from less secure IoT devices, and prevent lateral (east/west) movement in case of a
breach.
Another benefits of complete device visibility is the ability to track all actions and deliver contextual

Adr In Family Law Case Analysis
Critically analyse whether ADR methods such as mediation offer a better forum for resolving family
law disputes than the courts, thus providing greater access to justice:
Alternative Dispute Resolution has become one of the most central and significant changes to the
family law system since the 1980 s with the emergence of mediation as an alternative form of
achieving justice. The main form of ADR used in family law is family mediation, and is now known
in Australia as family dispute resolution (FDR). The concept was first introduced as a means to reduce
conflict, improve communication and co parental cooperation, produce better agreements in less time
and expense and lead to more compliance with agreements (Kelly 1996 373). Since the first ... Show

Only 1.5% of ATSI families use the FDR services. The AIFS evaluation of 2006 family law reforms
has shown that many practitioners lack the confidence when engaging with CALD and Indigenous
families. There are specific barriers to ATSI and CALD families such as s in the poor delivery of
culturally specific or appropriate services by providers and the lack of trust in mediation services.
Furthermore CALD face many communication barriers and culturally differences. There is clearly
greater need for family dispute practitioners to address issues of cultural competency. The NADRAC
2009 has suggested that culturally appropriate practices are essential to better engage with the local
CALD and ATSI populations. Culturally reflexive practices may help enhance the responsiveness to
cultural contexts of families in dispute resolution. Furthermore employing FDR practitioners, who
speak the languages of the CALD communities in the local area, may also help to increase the cultural
competency of staff and increase the barriers faced by CALD

Cell Membranes Of Proteins And Proteins Essay
Chapter One Introduction
Cell membranes of eukaryotes are complex in structure, comprised of a highly regulated heterologous
distribution of lipids and proteins (Hanada, 2010). This distribution is determined to some extent by
the location and topology of lipid synthases, and results from the trafficking of proteins and lipids
(Hanada, 2010). Within the cell, transport vesicles and tubules mediate trafficking by loading desired
sets of proteins at one organelle and delivering them to the next (Hanada, 2010; Kumagai et al., 2005).
Lipid influx routes such as the endocytosis of membrane lipids add further to the diversity (Hanada,
2010). The result is an asymmetric distribution of protein and lipid types across the membrane
phospholipid bilayer (Hanada, 2010).
Ceramides are an example of a family of cellular lipids found in the cell membrane (Yasuda et al.,
2001). Ceramides are synthesised at the endoplasmic reticulum from precursor compounds and are
transported to the Golgi apparatus for conversion into one of several sphingolipids (Yasuda et al.,
2001). The transport of such compounds is highly selective if not specific (Kumagai et al., 2005;
Yasuda et al., 2001). Inhibiting transport is a useful tool in investigating the role of substrates (Yasuda
et al., 2001) and makes an attractive target for biochemical manipulation of the cell (Ueno et al.,
2001).
Intracellular trafficking of ceramides is highly regulated. Two ceramide transport pathways have been
identified

Urinary Obstruction Case Study
Urinary Obstruction, Pediatric
Urinary obstruction happens when something blocks the passage of urine from the body. The blockage
may be in any of the following places:
The kidneys. These are organs that filter blood and produce urine.
The ureters. These are tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder.
The bladder. This is the sac that holds urine until it passes out of the body.
The urethra. This is the tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body.
Urinary obstruction can put pressure on the kidneys, leading to kidney infection or kidney damage.
CAUSES
Causes include:
Birth defects.
Kidney stones.
Blood clots.
Scar tissue.
Tumors or blood vessels that compress the ureters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DIAGNOSIS
Urinary obstruction is usually diagnosed with one or more tests. Tests may include:
An ultrasound.
An X ray.
A CT scan.
Cystoscopy.
Blood tests.
Urine tests.
TREATMENT
Treatment depends on the cause of the urinary obstruction and its severity. In some cases, the problem
corrects itself as the child grows and develops. In other cases, treatment can involve:
The placement of a soft plastic tube (stent) into the blocked ureter. The stent will keep the ureter open
and allow urine to flow more normally.
The placement of a drainage tube into a kidney. The tube will allow urine to drain into a container
outside the body.
Surgery to fix the problem causing the obstruction.
Antibiotic medicine to treat an infection or to help prevent infection.
HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Give medicines only as directed by your child s health care provider.
If your child was prescribed an antibiotic medicine, have him or her finish it all even if he or she starts
to feel better.
Have your child drink enough fluid to keep his or her urine clear or pale yellow.
SEEK MEDICAL CARE IF:

Christopher Columbus And The Era Of The Americas
Many people think of Christopher Columbus as the person who discovered the Americas. However,
Leif Ericson, a Norseman or Viking, was the first European to see the Americas. Columbus was born
to Domenico Colombo and Susanna Fontanarossa sometime between August 25 and October 31, 1451
in Italy near Genoa (Heat Moon 4). Columbus had four other siblings (Phillips 64). Columbus
childhood was a tough one, even though he had a great parental guidance. Columbus grew up in a
medieval world exhausted by war and bigotries, religious corruption and intolerance, a time of
widespread spiritual dissolution and social pessimism, a continent deeply in need of a rebirth (Heat
Moon 5). The era of which Columbus lived in was really in need of a make over. The way people
acted, their decisions, and the changes in their religion were not acceptable to any standard. That time
period was very boring and depressing and it was difficult to be happy. Christopher spent some of his
early years at his father s trade of weaving and later he became a sailor on the Mediterranean [Sea] (
Christopher Columbus ). By the time he was 31 or 32, Christopher had become a master mariner in
the Portuguese Merchant Service ( Christopher Columbus ). Later in life, Columbus had married Doña
Felipa Perestrello o Moníz (Heat Moon 7). After eight years of persistence and two rejections from
Portugal, Columbus was granted the finance needed to complete the voyage from Spain ( Christopher

performance was played by the University of Houston Symphony Orchestra in Moores Opera House
at the Moores School of Music. The performance was conducted by two different conductors. The first
conductor was Carlos Guillermo Jung, he conducted the first piece which was a piece by Pyotr Ilyich

Anton Krager, he conducted the Cello Concerto No. 1 in A Minor, Op. 33, by Camille Saint Saens
which also included Vagram Saradjian, who was a guest cellist performer. The next piece conducted
by Fran Anton Krager was the Symphony No.5 in C minor, Op. 67 by Ludwig van Beethoven. The
performance overall was over two hours, but was very entertaining and captured my attention the
whole time. The first piece that was conducted by Jung called Romeo and Juliet Overture Fantasy,
which is an orchestral work composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Tchaikovsky was one of the top
composers during the Romantic era who was inspired by the work of Shakespeare. The overture
outlines the plot of Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet. The genre of the piece is overture, the form
is sonata, and the meter is duple or to some people, it may seem like the meter is quadruple.

The Case V. Long Island Railroad Co
Introduction
Different case laws are referred while representing any case in the court; however seminal cases are

It is a scenario when first revision or addition of any clause is done to any legal clause, which is done
to have a better understanding and judgement on the given scenario. In this report, the seminal case on
the causa proxima clause of negligence will be evaluated in detail.
Summary of the case

However, in this case dissenting opinion was of higher importance than the deciding opinion. The case
was carried on the trail court which gave decision in favour of Ms. Palsgraf, then the case was
appealed at intermediate New York which has also given decision in the favour of Ms. Palsgraf; then it
was taken the court of appeals, highest court in New York which provided the reverse decision and

In this case, the dissenting opinion changed the course of the case, provided new directions but
leading to the formation of new clause under tort law. In this case, question was raised against the
guard position and it was held that as guard did not know anything about the material within the
parcel, he should be held responsible for the harm caused to the plaintiff (Miller Cross, 2011).
However, with a new perspective of causa proxima the whole scenario received a new perspective.

Museum Report At Los Angeles County Museum Of Art
Museum Report After visiting the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), I felt as if this was
an entire new experience for me, seeing that this was my first time to visit a museum. Before entering
the museum, I decided to analyze the front entrance of the Ahmanson building. What I observed is that
the inventor of the building kept it simple and precise, which there were red metal bars that supported
the front entrance. And there was a glass door incorporated into the entrance as well, this glass door
would consist of information of what type of art is inside. For example, modern art, Islamic art,
European art, and so on. As I went inside, I was welcomed with an enormous piece of art that
encompassed several geometric shapes. Likewise, this art piece could be studied from multiple
perspectives, from the first floor and second floor. As for the work of arts, most of the art was
displayed on white walls, it should be noted that the walls were beginning to become dirty. One last
thing about the interior of the building is that I appreciated the atmosphere, since there was sufficient
space to observe the art from different viewpoints. That being said, I will now go on and discuss about
the piece of art that spoke to me (not literally). The piece of art that spoke to me was called The
Liberator, in 1947, created by Rene Magritte. Oil and canvas were the foundation that was utilized by
Magritte, leading to the formation of his painting. One of the main reasons why this piece

Purple Rain Analysis
In 1984 s Purple Rain, the title track is fictionally written and arranged by the women in Prince s
character s (simply known as The Kid ) nightclub band. Out of egotism, The Kid refuses to play any

dedication to his father. He moves the audience, and regains the respect of his peers. It s considered
his finest moment (and a defining point in the film). Art imitates life, because if I had to name one

Rain. Welcome to my #1 favorite, everyone. I know, I know, how cliché, but clichés are so for a
reason. Whatever they re about has stood the test of time and can be applied over and over. Purple
Rain is a timeless classic and goes on the Songs That Should Never Be Remade list with Sam Cooke s
A Change is Gonna Come and Etta James At Last. It endures because it s one of the most emotive
pieces of music there is. The hopelessness that comes with not being able to prevent or reverse a loss
pulsates in every word, note and chord from the first transfixing strum. The heartbreak swells with
Rain s multiple peaks, predominately characterized by wailing guitars, falling strings and Prince s
pleading vocals. He sings of regret with such intensifying anguish, it erupts into howls around the last

Conflict management assumes that conflict is a constant feature of group life. The idea is to keep it
within boundaries, not to eliminate it. Conflict resolution sees conflict as an interruption of normal
life.ii The idea is to find a solution usually a compromise as quickly as possible. Conflict cannot be
avoided, yet how religious leaders speak about and react to the conflict will frame how the community
handles conflict that arises. The stories and teachings of the Bible assume that conflict and change are
a natural and normal part of individual and community life.iii As leaders, we can be the voice that
highlights overlooked insights and methods while acknowledging and affirming the emotions in the
conversation and what each person has at stake in the decision making. People cause conflict. We can
either further the conflict or squander it with our actions.
The conflict that is dealt with, discussed, managed, and resolved can be good. This kind of conflict
provides an opportunity for growth and creative change. On the other hand, the conflict that is left
unattended and ignored can destroy unity, hinder growth, and render ministry ineffective. Poorly
managed situations can lead to increased tension, decreased productivity, and lingering resentments
that can last a very long time. Alternatively, if the conflict is well managed, it can lead to improved
communication and teamwork, more innovative ideas, and increased motivation. We let present

Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Flat Tax
The idea of a flat rate of income tax is one of a single rate of tax paid by everyone. Currently, in the
UK, the rate at which one pays tax is dependent on the level of income of an individual from paying
no tax at all with a low income to 45% tax on extremely high incomes these incomes include bonuses,
dividends, retainers etc. This excludes, however the Personal Allowance permitted by the government,
£11,000 which one does not have to pay income on. In the UK, the flat tax dates back to medieval
England, when it was introduced in 1377, followed almost immediately by a graduated tax in 1379.
Incidentally, this essay will explore the advantages and disadvantages of a flat rate of income tax.
There are numerous advantages to having a single ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall, a correct execution of a flat tax would produce social equality, profits and a growing
economy. The major change it would bring about would be to simplify a convoluted system, with less
procedure to go through as everyone pays a single rate, resulting in more people being inclined to pay
and follow tax regulations. However, I conclude that the disadvantages end up outweighing these
advantages. A look at history has shown that the general public would not be in favour of a flat rate of
income tax as it heavily burdens the poor while favouring the rich. Many a time, this heavy
discrimination results in a high exemption rate, the revenues of which may not be able to be
compensated for through foreign investment, as such a rapidly spending economy such as the UK
cannot necessarily be compared to those of Eastern Europe. This is aside from the fact that it would be
extremely difficult and expensive to implement such a tax in such an economic environment.
Therefore, the disadvantages are far greater than the

This substitution is inserted between the positions 451 and 452. It is worth notice that insertion is (3).

How Does Shakespeare Use Deception In Othello
Othello is a play about suffering; every character in the play has some cruel compounce: not a single
being in the play escapes their harsh fate. Fate is the driving force of Othello, This is shown through
the ease of deception by Iago, the various religious influences spread throughout. as well as the meta
analysis present in most of shakespeare s plays. Deception is used throughout the play by Iago,
however it is not the driving force as said by Alyssa Brown. Othello has the fairly typical theme of
deception. Self deception is also a theme (Alyssa Brown, Brown/A/Deception). Deception does not
exist in the play. The characters have no freewill and cannot be deceived. This play uses deception
wrong according to Shakespeare. Usually, Shakespeare uses deception to a positive end of the players.
When used in tragedies, Romeo and Juliet use deception to further their love, although it does
ultimately end with their deaths, it ends with the Montague and Capulet families coming together.

Does mass media influence human lives so greatly that a self inflicted 48 hour free period from the
influences of mass media such as television, social media, internet, recorded and live music such as
the radio, could have a measurable effect? As my personal journey into this experiment is laid out the
conclusion will become clear. Through removing forms of mass media such as radio, television,
internet and newspapers I have learned that indeed mass media is not easy to get away from, and it has
a deep impact on mood, response, and critical thought processes. Through a 48 hour period, I
consciously chose to remove all mass media influence, such as social media, television, radio and
recorded music, and in doing thus have come to some rather startling conclusions about the severe and
often silent effect that mass media can have on our lives. This was a rather difficult task as most
people never take the time to consider where and how mass media influences our daily lives, and how
deep the impact can be. The escape from radio is difficult, the desire to lose oneself in television after
a hard day is overwhelming and the sheer amount that we rely on social media is harder still to
understand unless you do without it for a lengthy period. While staying clear of these forms of
obvious mass media such as overt advertisements, or Facebook seemed easy enough, though one can
never be prepared to cope with the interruption of the thought processes and mood changes that
accompany this

How Does Katherine Mansfield Use Direct Characterization...
In Miss Brill, Katherine Mansfield uses indirect characterization to demonstrate how loneliness can
distort a person s perception of the world and leave one vulnerable when confronting the truth. The
reader is first introduced to Miss Brill while she is at the Jardins Publiques for her Sunday routine.
While at the park, she reminisces about her fur, [taking] it out of its box that afternoon...and [rubbing]
the life back into the dim little eyes. One might initially perceive Miss Brill as a quirky, yet cheery,
woman. However, by having Miss Brill address the fur as Dear little thing and emphasizing her
recurring need to touch and stroke it, Mansfield reveals a deeper, more genuine layer to Miss Brill s
character. By observing Miss Brill s character indirectly, the reader notices the more obscure details,
such as the absence of an intimate relation in Miss Brill s life, and concludes that she is incredibly
lonesome. Her solitude provokes a constant need to make her life more ... Show more content on

Miss Brill remarks how the woman s hair, face and even her eyes, [are] the same colour as the shabby
ermine and that the ermine toque was alone. The reader can recognize the way Miss Brill and the
woman are mirror images: Miss Brill s fur and the woman s toque, the woman being rejected and Miss
Brill s loneliness. Even though she notices the specifics of the woman, Miss Brill does not display any
awareness regarding the similarities between them. Through indirect characterization, the reader may
discern that Miss Brill is preventing herself from consciously empathizing with the woman. She has a
world in her mind where she is happy with observing the lives of others. When a truthful image
threatens to tarnish her creation, she rejects that notion. She does not want to acknowledge the real
world, a world where she is lonely and

Essay On Foreign Affairs
Trump s Travel Ban was halting immigration from seven dominantly Muslim nations. Trump wanted
to ensure that he is not admitting into our country the very threats our soldiers are fighting overseas.
Trump s Travel Ban put America in the danger of being isolated from other nations. On the other hand,
the American people flocked to international airports around the country to protest the order and show
their support for those affected by it. This indicates that the American people want to embrace
international relationships. This pattern of American attitude towards foreign affairs is very similar to
that from 1898 to 1945. American attitude towards foreign affairs has been gradually changing from
isolationism to internationalism. At ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
America did not want involvement, they just waited patiently and did not have the desire to fight back
after the explosion.
America started to increase its involvement in foreign affairs during World War l. On April 30, 1915,
Woodrow Wilson spoke in New York. Wilson said my interest in the neutrality of the United States is
not the small minded desire to keep out of trouble. To judge by my experience, I have never been able
to keep out of trouble. I have never looked for it, but I have always found it..... If a man is looking for
trouble that is the trouble of men in general and I can help a little, why, then I am in for it. Wilson s
words show that if a nation creates trouble for the whole world, he is willing to get involved and help
solve the problem. On May 27, 1916, Wilson spoke in Washington D.C. He said that the nations of the
world must in some way band themselves together to see that right prevails against any sort of selfish
aggression. Wilson realizes that it is important to connect with other nations to overcome aggression.
The United States would also do anything to secure their values. They are willing to become a partner
in any workable association of nations formed in order to realize these objects and make them secure
against violation. Americans are realizing that they need to work with other nations in order to make
sure American values are not violated. Throughout World War ll, America has moved more towards

Forecasting Using Eviews
Data The variables of interest are oil imports to Germany, and temperature in Germany. The latter is
used as a leading indicator for the former, to improve on the forecast obtained by the univariate model.
Both variables are collected over a time range from January 1985 until and including December 1997,
whereas the last year is not used for constructing the optimal forecast, obtained by fitting a model
through the data until the end of 1996. This will enable us to forecast the year 1997 using our model,
and then comparing it to the actual data. Assuming no large one time shock, meaning that it is not
captured by seasonality or cyclical behaviour in the data, occurs in this year, a graphical comparison
of our forecast and the whole data ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The insignificant December month can be explained by the little temperature difference compared to
the base month January, and roughly the same oil is consumed therefore. Moreover the negative signs
of their coefficients are in line with intuition, that in the coldest month January more oil is needed than
in all the other month. The last step before fitting autoregressive and moving averages terms to the
data, is to check for unit roots. We will use the augmented Dickey Fuller test to decide whether the
data has a unit root or not. The H0 of the test is that the data has a unit root against the Ha, that the
data has no unit root. Table 1.1 shows the result of the augmented Dickey Fuller test. The p value of

The Sunflower By Simon Wiesenthal Essay
Vince Lombardi, an American football player, and a coach, once said, Leaders aren t born, they are
made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. With these words, Lombardi
highlights that people are nurtured to become a leader and a follower. For instance, Lombardi asserts
that a person is trained, whether to be a leader, or a follower, through eagerness and determination.
The book, The Sunflower, written by Simon Wiesenthal, an author and a Jewish holocaust survivor,
who focuses on one of the most controversial topics during and after World War II, forgiveness. In this
book, Weisenthal talked about a questionable case in which Karl, an SS soldier who murdered
plentiful of people, asked Weisenthal for forgiveness for all the pain he had done towards all the
people that were affected by him. When it comes to the topic of whether people are born to become
leaders or followers or is one trained by the environment, most people will readily agree that people
are conditioned to become a leader or a follower, where this agreement usually ends, however, is on
the question of, What makes a person a leader? Whereas some are convinced that people are natural
born leaders. Becoming a leader consists with a few reasons such as developed leadership skills, the
bystander apathy, and the diffusion of responsibility.
Leadership is a honorary degree that contains many practices to which can truly affect his/her position

The Ugly Renaissance Discussion Of Italy
The Ugly Renaissance Discussion
1. Why did the Renaissance originate in Florence and prosper for so many years?
In many ways, Italy had benefits over northern Europe in detaching from the feudal system and
accumulating enormous amounts of wealth. I think that above all else, geography was Italy s anchor in
this respect. Being a projecting land mass sticking out into the Mediterranean Sea, and beneficially
located between the main part of Europe and the Byzantine Empire, cities within Italy had little choice
but to weave endeavors of commerce into every day life while engaging in the market and foreign
trade. Therefore, Italy became prone to the extensive continuity of goods and novelties earlier than
other European areas. Accordingly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Florence was exposed to the principles and ideologies of foreign regions and immersed them into the
art and literature produced thereafter. That then percolated to the rest of the other European nations
and the rest of Italy itself. The Medici maintained these connections rooted and stable by way of
finance and politics and guaranteed that Florence, throughout the Renaissance, was an advocate of the
arts. Furthermore, had it not been for the establishment of a connection between the Medici and the
Papacy, Florence and Rome, it seems, may have actually been rivals grown under the essence of
partnership and collaboration during the Renaissance. Rome supplied many Florentine artists with a
harbor, and, in turn, Florence took advantage of the administration of the papal funds.
2. What were the differences from the Middle Ages promoted by the Renaissance? Often, the
Renaissance is acknowledged as an era of artistic refinement. However, couldn t it also be said that the
Renaissance, for the most part, clung to the spiritual and religious motifs of the Middle Ages? If so,
what were the differences, during that period, from the Middle Ages as promoted by the Renaissance?
Regardless of the likenesses to medieval art encircling subject matter and theme, Renaissance artists
undoubtedly interrupted the stagnant standards of medieval art. As previously stated, the themes of the
Middle Ages were rather consistent, but the Renaissance style was unprecedented in its

Similarities Between Gerda And All But My Life
The film La Vita E Bella and the memoir All But My Life have many similarities in themes, symbols,
occurrences, emotions and characters. To highlight the effect of the most important similarity that is
seen between the film and the memoir on the audience would have to be the fact that the protagonists
both exemplify altruism. Although these two are both very different they definitely have their
similarities. Gerda and Guido both go out intending to fight for their freedom while becoming
altruistic due to their desires to survive the Holocaust. Gerda and Guido are both very altruistic
because they have an unfulfilled desire to survive.
In the memoir All But My Life by Gerda Weissmann Klein,Gerda has a very strong ambition to make
it out of the war alive. At the start of the war Gerda believed that death would have been the much
easier solution. Gerda eventually has a change of heart and wants to carry out her days. This alteration
is triggered by a promise that Gerda made to her father that she would never end her own life no

food court which increase the competition for Taco Bell especially by McDonalds and Burger King.
When Taco Bell entered the Indian market, all the crowd in the mall used to line up outside Taco Bell,
Oberoi Mall until Burger King opened up right next to it. If Taco Bell want to increase its sales they
should consider relocating its store to an area with high youth population, for example; around school
or colleges. This will allow them to reach out their targeted customers easily and will further increase
sales. Taco Bell had aimed to expand further into the Indian market by opening more outlets around
the nation, this would definitely allow them to increase sales but Taco Bell will have to ensure they
know their market well. The outlet will not perform if the location is in an area where there is not

Analysis Of The Slow Paced spring Summer Winter Spring...
Few words are spoken in Kim Ki duk s Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring. Yet much is
expressed regarding humankind s relationship with nature. The slow paced, contemplative movie
explores key Buddhist principles, including rebirth and meditation, through the life of an apprentice
monk. Laden with heavy symbolism, as seen in the use of the seasons, animals, architecture, medicine
and punishment, the film deeply considers people s connection to their environment, stressing in
particular the importance of both inner and outer harmony. Seasons The seasons are likely the most
notable motif of the film, which progresses through them as they match the stages of the Apprentice s
life. As the once young man presumably returns towards the end to replace his old master, the wheel
of life turns again. The beautiful cinematography, featuring long shots of the surrounding landscape,
captures the breathtaking beauty of the area as the seasons change. By enriching the movie with these
scenes, rather than focusing on just the plot, Kim invites the viewer to appreciate the setting s beauty,
allowing time for reflection on both the story and the cyclical tendencies of nature and life. Following
the seasons through the Apprentice s life reflects a cycle of rebirth that is an integral part of Buddhist
teachings. Animals More subtly, animals also play a significant role in each stage of the Apprentice s
life. Like the seasons, one creature matches up with the Apprentice during each phase

  • 3. Copa Cruise Case Copa Cruises Welcome Aboard! Copa Cruises is a 40 year old company that offers dining and sightseeing cruises. What started with only one ship at Maryland s Eastern Shore, is now a big business operating at multiple locations with 40 vessels. Copa operates scheduled tours at least twice daily during the peak travel/tourism seasons at each of its locations. The total number of scheduled tours varies based on the number of vessels available at each location. Copa also offers its ships exclusively for groups. In fact, a significant portion of Copa s revenues come from group bookings. Typically, group customers book for corporate events, weddings, or private celebrations (e.g. family reunion). Copa customizes the table arrangement, the deck, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using all the transactions in the data set, determine the revenue maximizing price for Copa. Here is a step by step approach: a) Fit a logit price response curve to the data using the MLE approach discussed in class. (NOTE: For better numerical precision and to get good results in Excel, use prices in 100s. That is if the quote is $150 per person for a contract, use $1.5 per person in the MLE calculations.) b) Based on the fitted logit curve, what is the price (per person) that maximizes expected revenue per event? What is the expected revenue per transaction for that price? c) Assuming the annual number of inquiries remains the same, what would be the total expected revenue for the company if the price you determined in part (b) is used? How does the annual expected revenue compare to the total revenue earned by Copa in 2007? 2) Analyze the data to determine whether there are multiple price segments. a) What is your segmentation criterion? Explain clearly. b) What is the revenue maximizing price for each segment? What is the expected revenue for each transaction in that segment? (You have to repeat the analysis in part (1) for each of the segments.) ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________ Fall 2009 This case was prepared by Itir Karaesmen and Inbal Yahav of Robert H. • 4. Israel s Involvement In The 1967 June War The nature of Israel s involvement in the 1967 June War can be aptly portrayed as both a prime example of pre emptive self defence of the nation and as a rapacious campaign of self interested opportunism. A central tenet of the Israeli position that Arab encroachment posed a danger to the continued existence of Israel is that the short and long term consequences of Israel not acting decisively were disastrous and had to be avoided. The partisan essence of the Six Day War is exemplified through the Arab narrative s empathetic denial that Israel acted defensively and their testimony that the actual aggressor in this conflict was Israel. Primary source documents, particularly declassified intelligence reports, provide a unique prism through which one can deconstruct some of the underlying principles that steer Israel s justifications of war against its foes. Likewise, the rejection of elements of Israel s narrative by esteemed Israeli s such as Yitzhak Rabin and Abba Eban indicates that certain facets of its conduct in the June War cannot be reasonably understood as being defensive. International law, which has a chief objective of resolving global ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... M. A. El Kony, who served as the United Arab Republic s ambassador to the United Nations, succinctly summarised the Arab narrative by stating Israel has committed a treacherous premeditated aggression against the United Arab Republic . The notion that Israel had explicitly planned the Six Day War as a land grabbing maneuverer is utterly contradictory to the principles encapsulated within the ideology of defensive warfare. Consequently, it becomes vital to analyse contemporary source material to determine the veracity of the Arab narrative as doing so will enable an unbiased observer to form a more nuanced position that could deviate considerably from the Israeli ... This outbreak had a very dreadful outcome for the carrier of the disease. This outbreak killed nearly 60% of the European population. This outbreak was called the Bubonic Plague it had many awful symptoms and could be spread very easy. There was many ways for the Bubonic Plague to be spread in the 14th century. It was spread around by fleas and rats; for a human to contain this disease is for them to get bitten or scratched by a flea or rat. This disease could also be spread by human contact just the same as flu. There was many people in risk of this disease especially if they tried to help someone who had it. This could have been ... • 6. Risk Arbitrage Case Risk Arbitrage: Abbott Labs and Alza Harvard Business Review Case Study 1. BACKGROUND Risk Arbitrage is essentially just arbitrage with some element of risk. Three main types of risk arbitrage are merger and acquisition arbitrage (also known as just merger arbitrage), liquidation arbitrage, and pairs trading. We will focus on merger arbitrage, as it pertains to this case study. Merger arbitrage is an investment strategy that chooses to capitalize upon arbitrage that presents when a merger or acquisition deal is announced. Essentially, an arbitrageur is seeking to profit from the movements of the acquirer s and or target s stock price from the merger. If the deal did go through, Chris would expect positive returns because the stock price of Alza would increase as a result of the merger (long position would profit) and the stock price of Abbott would decrease as a result of the merger (short position would profit). Another option Chris could take would be to buy Alza put options maturing December 18th at $3.25 a share for a strike price of $40.00 (Alza s current share price is $40.12). • 7. The Cell Cycle, Genetic Variation, Mendelian Genetics, And... Introduction: This essay will explore the cell cycle, cancer, cancer, mitosis and meioses, genetic variation, Mendelian genetics, and complex genetic inheritance. Each area will be broken down in further detail, and the result should demonstrate the knowledge learned on the subjects. The Cell Cycle The cell cycle is a series of stages that occurs when a new cells makes the division from the parent cell to two daughter cells. This is a stage in cellular reproduction. The cell cycle consists of three phases, interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis. During Interphase, a cell will continue to perform its functions as usual. The time frame for Interphase varies; while an embryonic cell will take just a few hours to complete the cycle, a stem cell from an adult can take 24 hours (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). After the interphase stage completes itself, a complete nuclear division happens and mitosis occurs. During the stage of mitosis, the daughter cells will receive the same amounts of the contents of the parent cell. Throughout the last stage, in the cytoplasm there is a division known as Cytokinesis (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). Cytokinesis occurs differently in plant cells than it does in animal cells, as the cell wall around the plant prevents the process from happening the same way. Instead, a new plasma membrane and cell walls are built are built between the daughter cells. However, in animal cells a single cell will become two (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). The Abnormal Cell ... The phases of the moon occur because the moon reflects the light of the sun, and we, on Earth, see the reflected light; as the moon orbits the Earth, the amount of Sun that the Moon reflects changes. • 9. Efficient Resource Allocation In Cognitive Radio Networks Efficient resource allocation in cognitive radio networks considering time varying constraints Abstract: Wide spread acceptance of wireless technologies has given rise to increase in demand for bandwidth .cognitive radio was developed as a promising technique to overcome the scarcity of spectrum resources in wireless communication. The term cognitive radio is defined as an intelligent radio that can be programmed and configured dynamically. Particular portion of the spectrum can be used only by a specific user of communication systems i.e. licensed user (or) primary user (PU). The secondary user is cognitive user (CR). There are two main paradigms to implement CR in practical, namely interweave and underlay techniques. The main motive of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In underlay transmission method the secondary users use the licensed band along with the active primary users but to keep the interference to the PU s under a predefined threshold level the SU s will control their power accordingly, where as in interweave transmission the SU s use the licensed band when no active primary user is present [3]. Spectrum sensing in cognitive radio is performed to know the surrounding radio environment such as PU s existence and usage of spectrum in geo graphical area and it determine the spectrum holes. Based on the spectrum sensing results, the process of identifying the best channel to meet the QOS to the user is known as spectrum management. It assigns that channel to the cognitive user. Scheduling coefficients, rate, power are the resources available for cognitive radio to adapt. In spectrum management by using some time varying constraints it identifies the best channel in the spectrum, but there are still few challenges in design faced by cognitive radio paradigm For controlling interference we need some extra constraints. The volatile nature of CR may cause outdated statistical channel state information. It is difficult to acquire instantaneous CSI of the PU. For first design challenge, interference can inflicted by either through average (long term) transmit power constraints or instantaneous (short term) constraints [4]. The instantaneous constraints have been focused as the second design challenge, handling these constraints ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While peace and equality for African Americans was the driving force of the protests, violence and inhuman resistance was the force for the white people. In the March Trilogy Books, written by John Lewis and Andrew Aydin, and in the movie Selma, written by Paul Webb and directed by Ava DuVernay, we are given a glimpse of these troubling times during the 1960 s. It went very dark, very quick, as the troopers barged towards them, making this day known as Bloody Sunday , March 7, 1965. When asked for his comments in the movie by the press after the brutal attack on the marchers, King says While rageful violence continues towards the unarmed people of Selma, while they are assaulted with tear gas and batons like enemy in a war, no citizen of this country can call themselves blameless, for we all bear a responsibility for our fellow man. Not that I m aware of. They assumed that Bioidenticals work the same as synthetic hormones, which we know might be in fact harmful. Two French studies published in 2008 suggest that Bioidenticals are safer than conventional HRT. Privacy is something that we all take for granted because we don t know how to live our lives without it and in most cases we never have, well not like in the 1984 and The Circle. Without privacy, people would not be comfortable doing most of the things that they do on a daily basis. If we were being watched and listen to day in and day out then we would be living like prisoners. We would be limited to what we say, who we talk to, and sometimes even who we date. With the thought police, telescreens, and anyone else that could not be trusted roaming everywhere, it was tough. Orwell tells us how much the price of privacy is worth and is sacrificed for when Julia and Winston betray each other at the end. Orwell sends many messages through out the whole story. First, it is valid evidence that without privacy, people have to follow the rules of which the government enforces upon them. Every government has their set of rules, but without privacy, the government is full of control in what it enforces and what you think. On a social and personal level, we see that Julia and Winston have to secretly have their relationship. This lead to them eventually rebel and get caught in the story. Orwell is warning us that a relationship is build upon trust and privacy. If we can t speak our minds on just normal stuff to a single individual or may be a group; then their is a issue. This issue can affect the quality of the relationship. One may not be comfortable or even trust the other party due to the lack of privacy, and whats a friendship without privacy? Secondly, this essay will describe what a postnatal abdominal palpation is, why it is done and what the outcomes may be. It will also describe the anatomy and physiology of a uterus and involution. Lastly, a description of how the assessment is conducted and how during this partnership and cultural safety is maintained by the midwife. The partnership between a woman and her midwife is the key to a successful birth experience. This partnership is a professional friendship that allows midwives to get to know women and their bodies. This model identifies midwifery partnership as a relationship of sharing between the women and the midwife, involving trust, shared control and responsibility and shared meaning through mutual understanding. It is the sharing relationship which constitutes midwifery and it is one which spans the life experience of pregnancy and childbirth. (Guilliland, K., Pairman, S, 2010, p. 7). This partnership is formed throughout the continuity of care Model. Yet, a number of organizations with otherwise great security have not considered the need for comprehensive visibility, but how can you secure what you cannot see? For organization that have not planned ahead for visibility, this issue frequently comes to a breaking point when they have an incursion. The main form of ADR used in family law is family mediation, and is now known in Australia as family dispute resolution (FDR). • 25. Cell Membranes Of Proteins And Proteins Essay Chapter One Introduction Cell membranes of eukaryotes are complex in structure, comprised of a highly regulated heterologous distribution of lipids and proteins (Hanada, 2010). This distribution is determined to some extent by the location and topology of lipid synthases, and results from the trafficking of proteins and lipids (Hanada, 2010). Within the cell, transport vesicles and tubules mediate trafficking by loading desired sets of proteins at one organelle and delivering them to the next (Hanada, 2010; Kumagai et al., 2005). Lipid influx routes such as the endocytosis of membrane lipids add further to the diversity (Hanada, 2010). The result is an asymmetric distribution of protein and lipid types across the membrane phospholipid bilayer (Hanada, 2010). Ceramides are an example of a family of cellular lipids found in the cell membrane (Yasuda et al., 2001). Ceramides are synthesised at the endoplasmic reticulum from precursor compounds and are transported to the Golgi apparatus for conversion into one of several sphingolipids (Yasuda et al., 2001). The transport of such compounds is highly selective if not specific (Kumagai et al., 2005; Yasuda et al., 2001). Inhibiting transport is a useful tool in investigating the role of substrates (Yasuda et al., 2001) and makes an attractive target for biochemical manipulation of the cell (Ueno et al., 2001). Intracellular trafficking of ceramides is highly regulated. Two ceramide transport pathways have been identified ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Christopher Columbus And The Era Of The Americas Many people think of Christopher Columbus as the person who discovered the Americas. However, Leif Ericson, a Norseman or Viking, was the first European to see the Americas. Columbus was born to Domenico Colombo and Susanna Fontanarossa sometime between August 25 and October 31, 1451 in Italy near Genoa (Heat Moon 4). Columbus had four other siblings (Phillips 64). Columbus grew up in a medieval world exhausted by war and bigotries, religious corruption and intolerance, a time of widespread spiritual dissolution and social pessimism, a continent deeply in need of a rebirth (Heat Moon 5). The era of which Columbus lived in was really in need of a make over. The way people acted, their decisions, and the changes in their religion were not acceptable to any standard. In the UK, the flat tax dates back to medieval England, when it was introduced in 1377, followed almost immediately by a graduated tax in 1379. Incidentally, this essay will explore the advantages and disadvantages of a flat rate of income tax. There are numerous advantages to having a single ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overall, a correct execution of a flat tax would produce social equality, profits and a growing economy. The major change it would bring about would be to simplify a convoluted system, with less procedure to go through as everyone pays a single rate, resulting in more people being inclined to pay and follow tax regulations. However, I conclude that the disadvantages end up outweighing these advantages. A look at history has shown that the general public would not be in favour of a flat rate of income tax as it heavily burdens the poor while favouring the rich. Many a time, this heavy discrimination results in a high exemption rate, the revenues of which may not be able to be compensated for through foreign investment, as such a rapidly spending economy such as the UK cannot necessarily be compared to those of Eastern Europe. This is aside from the fact that it would be extremely difficult and expensive to implement such a tax in such an economic environment. Therefore, the disadvantages are far greater than the ... Besides, the upper second molars were small (12). Furthermore, a study involved six Japanese families with non syndromic tooth agenesis. There was a novel nonsense mutation in exon 1 in a family with oligodontia. • 41. How Does Shakespeare Use Deception In Othello Othello is a play about suffering; every character in the play has some cruel compounce: not a single being in the play escapes their harsh fate. Fate is the driving force of Othello, This is shown through the ease of deception by Iago, the various religious influences spread throughout. as well as the meta analysis present in most of shakespeare s plays. Deception is used throughout the play by Iago, however it is not the driving force as said by Alyssa Brown. Othello has the fairly typical theme of deception. Self deception is also a theme (Alyssa Brown, Brown/A/Deception). Deception does not exist in the play. The characters have no freewill and cannot be deceived. This play uses deception wrong according to Shakespeare. Usually, Shakespeare uses deception to a positive end of the players. When used in tragedies, Romeo and Juliet use deception to further their love, although it does ultimately end with their deaths, it ends with the Montague and Capulet families coming together. • 43. Mass Media Influence Does mass media influence human lives so greatly that a self inflicted 48 hour free period from the influences of mass media such as television, social media, internet, recorded and live music such as the radio, could have a measurable effect? As my personal journey into this experiment is laid out the conclusion will become clear. Through removing forms of mass media such as radio, television, internet and newspapers I have learned that indeed mass media is not easy to get away from, and it has a deep impact on mood, response, and critical thought processes. Through a 48 hour period, I consciously chose to remove all mass media influence, such as social media, television, radio and recorded music, and in doing thus have come to some rather startling conclusions about the severe and often silent effect that mass media can have on our lives. This was a rather difficult task as most people never take the time to consider where and how mass media influences our daily lives, and how deep the impact can be. The escape from radio is difficult, the desire to lose oneself in television after a hard day is overwhelming and the sheer amount that we rely on social media is harder still to understand unless you do without it for a lengthy period. In Miss Brill, Katherine Mansfield uses indirect characterization to demonstrate how loneliness can distort a person s perception of the world and leave one vulnerable when confronting the truth. In many ways, Italy had benefits over northern Europe in detaching from the feudal system and accumulating enormous amounts of wealth. I think that above all else, geography was Italy s anchor in this respect. Being a projecting land mass sticking out into the Mediterranean Sea, and beneficially located between the main part of Europe and the Byzantine Empire, cities within Italy had little choice but to weave endeavors of commerce into every day life while engaging in the market and foreign trade. Furthermore, had it not been for the establishment of a connection between the Medici and the Papacy, Florence and Rome, it seems, may have actually been rivals grown under the essence of partnership and collaboration during the Renaissance. Rome supplied many Florentine artists with a harbor, and, in turn, Florence took advantage of the administration of the papal funds. 2. What were the differences from the Middle Ages promoted by the Renaissance? Often, the Renaissance is acknowledged as an era of artistic refinement. However, couldn t it also be said that the Renaissance, for the most part, clung to the spiritual and religious motifs of the Middle Ages? If so, what were the differences, during that period, from the Middle Ages as promoted by the Renaissance? Yet much is expressed regarding humankind s relationship with nature. The slow paced, contemplative movie explores key Buddhist principles, including rebirth and meditation, through the life of an apprentice monk. Laden with heavy symbolism, as seen in the use of the seasons, animals, architecture, medicine and punishment, the film deeply considers people s connection to their environment, stressing in particular the importance of both inner and outer harmony. Seasons The seasons are likely the most notable motif of the film, which progresses through them as they match the stages of the Apprentice s life. As the once young man presumably returns towards the end to replace his old master, the wheel of life turns again. The beautiful cinematography, featuring long shots of the surrounding landscape, captures the breathtaking beauty of the area as the seasons change. By enriching the movie with these scenes, rather than focusing on just the plot, Kim invites the viewer to appreciate the setting s beauty, allowing time for reflection on both the story and the cyclical tendencies of nature and life.
