Hagia Sophia vs Dome of the Rock
Religion has always played an important role in the development of art and architecture.
They serve as a bridge between the real world and the divine world, and mirror religious views
of people and the major beliefs of the society. Hagia Sophia and the Dome of the Rock are two
of the greatest and the most important architectural monuments in the world. Even though two of
the most historical mosques, Hagia Sophia and the Dome of the Rock, are built for different
religions, but due to a sharing purpose, which being praying to God, the difference can barely be
noticed. By sharing a purpose, both structures act as a shrine for different religions to reach God.

Another important architectural monument, the Dome of the Rock, is not only the third
most important shrine of Islam, but also the most magnificent architectural monument of the
Middle East. It is a mosque located in Jerusalem built between 691 and 692 by Umayyad caliph
Abd al Malik. The place this mosque is built on is sacred to both, Muslims and Jews. According
to Muslims, Muhammad ascended into heaven from here and the Jews believe that Abraham
prepared to sacrifice Isaac here. Both inside and outside of the mosque holds magnificent beauty,
elegance, and color. The structure is an octagonal exterior wall placed under a golden dome. The
bright arabesque patterning that decorates the exterior of the building, not only catches the eye,
but also greatly contrasts the plain exteriors of Christian Basilicas. The surface decoration of the
interior of the Dome of the Rock has 240 metres of inscription mainly verses from the Qur an
just below the ceiling on both faces of the inner octagon. The main bulk of the interior
decoration of the Dome of the Rock, however, is the mosaic work. 2 Once inside, the rock that
the pilgrims have come to see, sits directly in the center of the structure with mosaics and
Arabic calligraphy decorating the walls surrounding.
To understand the differences between these two architectural monuments, we need to
understand some basic key values of Islamic Art and

Summary Of Guts By Gary Paulsen
The book Guts is a non fiction, 162 page book by Gary Paulsen that tells the true stories behind
hatchet and the other Brian books. In this memoir Gary Paulsen writes about how plane crashes,
swarming mosquitoes, and growing up in northwoods of Minnesota influenced the writing of hatchet.
One of the many events that influenced Gary Paulsen s writing was growing up in Minnesota. His
Minnesota heritage extended back all the way to the 1890s when his family first moved to duluth.
Gary lived on the edge of town next to 50 acres of land that he called his own. There Gary learned
how to use a hatchet and make survival shelters. He also hunted small game with his .22 cal long rifle
and fished in Lake Superior. The Woods was his life, from the second school was out to sundown

Over the course of childhood to adulthood Gary had a number of moose attacks that made him respect
these giant creatures in a special way. In hatchet, Brian was attacked by a bull moose and ended up
with broken ribs and a concussion. Luckily this wasn t the case with Gary, instead the moose ran right
past him and hit a tree. The cause of the moose s stupidity was that it had chronic wasting disease that
had turned its brain to mush. The other attack happened when he was working on a farm and was
driving home in his truck when he saw a bull moose in the middle of the road. He stopped and waited
for it to pass but instead the moose turned at him and the fur on its back stood up. The moose charged,
BANG! Another hit and another hit and another hit until both the headlights were out. Gary stat there
in shock stunned by what just happened. The moose had toteled his truck and he was left in the
freezing cold with no place to go within 5 miles. He had to stick it out in his truck until help came the

Chad Agnew Observation
On 010/05/2016, I, Chad Agnew, was working as a patrol officer for the Wichita State University
Police Department, in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas. At approximately1415 hours, officers were
dispatched to the Rhatigan Student Center for a suspicious character. Dispatch notified all officers that
they were still gathering more information at the time but the suspicious character was a black male
with crutches. They also said the subject was yelling someone had a gun. I notified dispatch that
Officer Albert and I were out at the RSC. I parked our patrol car on the north side of the RSC and
entered the north door. I heard Officer Smith on the radio say he was out with the subject near the
Credit Union. I observed from across the RSC Officer J. Smith and Officer R. Faison standing next to
a black male all the way by the Book Store. As I walked closer, I could see the black male with both of
his hands up in the air and he was getting down on both of his knees. When I got to the Credit Union, I
saw a set of crutches and a black bag laying on the floor. I told Officer Albert to stay here with these
items as I continued to go behind the black male. Officer Faison kept trying to talk to the subject but
he was clearly ignoring him. The subject who was later identified as ... Show more content on

Why Does Seymour Kill Himself
Seymour kills himself as a victim of his own inability to reconnect to real society after his wartime
experience. Right from the get go, when Muriel s mother expresses that there s a very great chance...
that Seymour may completely lose control of himself (Salinger 2), we see how people surrounding
Seymour are concerned for his mental health due to a host of his previous erratic behaviors. These
include funny business with the trees [when driving] , that business with the window [he broke it] ,
and the horrible things he said to Granny about her plans for passing away (Salinger 2), which when
compounded, clearly demonstrates Seymour s struggle to reconnect with society. His disconnection is
also emphasized when he kisses Sybil s foot

Operations Management s Incentive Programs
Incentive Programs And Their Effect On Operations Management In spite of numerous assertions
concerning the putative significance, there has been small experimental appraisal of incentive

Cicero And The Age Of Extremes By Philippe Rousselot
First century BC was marked by great political violence and social turbulence for the Roman History.
In his article Cicero and the Age of Extremes , Philippe Rousselot refers to Cicero s century as one
marked by war, violence, and proscriptions. Amidst such moral and political decline, Cicero
composed De Oratore to not only depict the perfect orator, but also to take the opportunity to portray
himself as an honorable leader of the Republic. It is in this dialogue that Cicero blatantly expresses his
justification of violence as a viable means to sustain the Republic, despite the disdain for violence he
had expressed throughout his life. In fact, even when Cicero was growing up and his family urged him
to obtain a successful career in politics,

Associate Degree in Nursing Essay
Associate Degree Nursing vs. Bachelors Science Nursing Healthcare systems and the way safe,
quality health care is delivered are continually changing to better serve patients and communities.
Professional nursing practice is a large component in the healthcare system today. Back in the 1960s,
professional nursing leaders tried to adopt the bachelor degree programs as the only educational track
to become a registered nurse (Creasia Friberg, 2011). Due to nursing shortages and demands this
motive did not hold fast. Individuals entering the nursing profession today must first decide which
educational pathway to take to become a Registered Nurse (RN). Although there are studies that

Obviously, the BSN program will take more time and money over the ADN program. Although most
colleges and universities offer traditional four year nursing programs, some offer accelerated
programs. It will usually cost the same, however you are able to enter the nursing profession sooner.
Unlike the ADN program, the BSN nurse is better prepared to practice in all health care settings
critical care, outpatient, public health, and mental health (Baccalaureate Degree, 2000, para. 8). In
addition to the content taught in ADN programs, the humanistic BSN education encompasses more of
the physical and social sciences (Impact of Education, 2011). The BSN nurse is better prepared to
work more independently, therefore is well qualified to practice in healthcare systems outside of the
hospital. Bachelor programs prepare professional nurse generalists for acute care settings, community
based practice, and beginning leadership /management positions (Creasia Friberg, 2011, p. 32). This
course of study is crucial to the delivery of good, safe, quality patient care. There have been several
research studies completed to see if there is a correlation between higher RN education level and
better patient outcomes. Several studies concluded there is decrease in mortality rates within hospitals
that employee a greater percentage of bachelor prepared nurses (Creating a More, 2011). There are

align itself with the original Midas Touch story, where Midas was given the ability to turn anything he

turns everything into skittles. We, the audience, love Tim and connect an emotional attachment to him
as he is a soft lovable character who just wants to eat his own breakfast without turning it into skittles,
and there is one question that keeps us watching that skittle ad and that is if Tim touches a skittle does
it split into two skittles or does it stay the same? We ll never know. In the Skittle pox advertisements

Summer Reading Research Paper
This summer I had a summer reading problem. I had a list of books that I got before school ended, that
I had to choose a book from to read over the summer. I also had to read a book of my choice for a total

Characteristics Of Mercantilism
Mercantilism is a political and economical system that continued on the 16th to late 18th century. It
means that a country s economic power is related to the maintenance of a positive balance of trade.
That is, in order to remain economically and politically exist, a country most export more than it
imports. Such a positive balance of trade, according to mercantilist thought, causes the gold to surplus
in the country s treasury. So as to achieve these, international trade must be done. Key ideas of
mercantilism is that national wealth will came through the accumulation of gold or other precious
metals such as silver. They can be acquired by export. Raw materials were imported and final products

The Evil, Manipulative Character of Cassius in Julius...
William Shakespeare the writer of Julius Caesar decided how Cassius would be portrayed in his play.
In the play, Cassius has an evil, manipulative personality; he can be your friend one minute then
Cassius can be your worst enemy. Although Cassius was not popular with the people of Rome, he
became the ringleader of the conspirators.
Cassius displays the personality of a shrewd opportunist, who doesn t believe in the rule of one
person. He believes there should be an elected set of officials; to decide on the laws for Rome. He
resides as a very close friend to Julius Caesar, before he became the Roman king. Cassius played a
large role in the assassination of Julius Caesar (I.ii.90 115). When Julius Caesar became godlike to the
roman people, Cassius had much dislike toward Julius. He thought that Julius appeared too
incompetent and weak to the point of embarrassment, and wanted him removed from the throne. In the
play, Cassius manipulates Brutus into thinking that Caesar has become too powerful and that he
needed to be killed. He also uses flattery to sway Brutus into becoming part of his plan (I.ii.48 51).
Cassius tricked Brutus into finally believing the Roman people wanted Caesar dead by forging letters
from the people that do convey these thoughts (I.iii.142 148). He also made Brutus feel like it was his
civic duty to the Roman people. Cassius seems like just a very evil or cruel man, he committed suicide

Summer Reflection Essay
Reflective Essay Draft It was the summer time in Akron, Ohio 2007 to be exact. The sun was
relentlessly hot like it should have been, and the ice cream trucks were driving through the
neighborhoods consistently. I just moved to a new neighborhood and life was different for me. With
no friends nearby at all I had zero things to do by myself. I ve never been able to swim, so swimming
pools will not be mentioned in this story. The only upside of the summer was playing with my brother
Carl that summer. My brother Carl was twenty years old, five more than me, and was visiting for the
summer. Carl came to visit at the perfect time. Me being new to the neighborhood, I had no friends
nearby but him thankfully. My mom enjoyed me being home for the summer but did everything she
could to keep me outside, but lock the doors. If I wanted to be inside the house. I most definitely wasn
t not working. When I mention working I mean chores, and when I say chores I mean a lot of them
and some. Not just your ordinary chores like washing the dishes or vacuuming, she was more creative
than that. Washing the houses windows in and out was famous among the summer chores as well as
plenty of yard work, all I tried to avoid. Basketball has always been my favorite sport. When I speak
of basketball, I speak with passion and love, which all started with Carl. Carl showed me the
fundamentals of basketball. He taught me how to shoot, pass, dribble, and the language of basketball.

The Media And Its Portrayal Of Athletes
According to Knight and Giuliano s 2001 article, gender equality has been and will remain a current
topic of hot discussion in the media and its portrayal of athletes. Athletes have a unique ability to
deliver their thoughts and information to the masses through the media outlets given to them in regard
to their social status. Once the media has heard what the athletes have to say it can be at the media s
hand for interpretation. In this specific study 92 undergraduates were given a fake newspaper that
covered an Olympian with the main focus being on attractiveness. The study covered male and female
athletes in the newspaper article while focusing predominantly on attractiveness. Results show that the
readers not only disliked the attraction focus, but also preferred the reading be more focused on the
athleticism of the Olympians. The largest take away from the study is the media and its coverage or
portrayal of athletes being geared towards athletic achievement over quality of appearance In Riebock
and Bae s 2013 literature review they discuss the differences in men and women athletes body
perception in the media. To get their results they used multiple questionnaires that revolved around
questions dealing with body shame, self objectification and their appearance goal. Their conclusion
said grade level and ethnicity do not play a significant role in the effects of the media on body
perceptions (Riebock Bae, 2013). However, what does play a role is gender. Women are in

Introduction
In the absence of peace, there is conflict. This might lead to war between countries if conflict is not
handled carefully. Today it is almost a norm to see countries engaging others in war. Today the
greatest problem facing many nations is international relation. Countries have failed to live like decent
neighbors. There is disunity among many nations. War between nations is caused by mistrust and
tension. Nations purchase arms to stock their armory. Major inventions are made daily in out on
nuclear power and how to develop sophiscated weapons. This tries to explain the fact that countries
are always in mistrust of each other. It also explains that there is constant tension between countries

As times progressed there was an uprising in Lebanon as the Palestinian opposed Israel rule, In 1978
Palestine attacked Hezbollah. Israel felt invaded and led an offensive attack o Lebanon. Israel attacked
Lebanon and went as far as capturing Beirut. The prime target was to bomb Yasser Arafat locations.
During this invasion, Israel declared southern Lebanon as a security zone. During these attacks, there
were deaths on both sides. The greatest casualties were the children. Israel came to withdraw its
security forces from southern Lebanon in May 2000. Another serious crisis came to be in 1980s. This
was the intifada. A group of young Palestinians confronted Israeli troops with sling shots and stones.
The outcome was not acceptable and many of the youth were shot dead. To lay an offensive attack, the
Palestinians used suicide bombers to kill the Israeli troops. Many innocent civilians were killed from
both sides.
In 1993 the Oslo peace accord was made. In this accord Israel accepted to recognize the Palestinian

that PLO were to end a Palestinian claims on Israel territory. The accord was met with different
reaction across the world. It was seen as a one sided accord which favored only the Israelites. The

The Goal, By Eliyahu M.
The Goal, written by Eliyahu M. Goldratt, displays the life of a plant manager who is told that if he is
not able to shift the manufacturing plant within a constrained time frame to make money, the factory
will shut down. What s even more interesting about the novel is that it is based on the conflicts and
advances of a mere manager in a small company located in a small town. By introducing and
successfully implementing the Theory of Constraints , this manager was able to make this small
company that was on the verge of shutting down to have one of the most productive plants thus
making the factory more successful at the end. Alex Rogo, plant manager at UniCo, is told that he
needs to bring the plant around in three months and make it profitable. Battling between his personal
life problems (marriage) and problems at work, Alex just couldn t seem to make it work initially. He
targets all of the wrong factors like employing the right people and assuring he has the latest
technology. This is demonstrated clearly when Mr. Bill Peach, division vice president, discusses about
a seven week overdue order that needed to be shipped out that very same day. The first foul is seen
when Mr. Rogo handled the situation by forcing all the employees to work over time that night.
Although that order got shipped out that night, it is not an efficient or stable method to take care of the
problem. This is when Jonah, Alex s old physics professor, comes to the rescue. After Jonah s and

Beyond Good And Evil By Joshua Lohin
Art is a form of communication. Art is a form of language. The language of art can be elaborated in a
multitude of ways, as well. These methods include the content, process, or themes of the artwork. The
pieces Who Tells the Truth? and Beyond Good and Evil by Joshua Lohin, which I found in the
University Gallery, Fulton Hall 109, are prime examples of art being conveyed as a language through
their content.
Firstly, the artwork Who Tells the Truth? by Joshua Lohin, is a digital print, depicting a woman
standing with what appears to be an opaque veil over her head. The female figure s body is turned
slightly away from the viewer, while her head is facing the viewer. The figure stands in an ostensibly
grainy photograph with the words ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This piece illustrates two faces, one smiling and the other frowning, accompanied by words placed
around the print in a seemingly random order. The two faces are placed in the center of the print, while
the words, Beyond, Good, and, and Evil, are positioned around the edges of the print. Beyond is
printed horizontally, and Good is printed vertically with the base of the word being faced toward the
right end of the print. And is printed on the bottom left corner of the print, with the left end of the print
as the base, and Evil is printed in the same manner as Beyond in the bottom right side of the print.
Located around the faces in the center are smaller printed words being, originality, danger,
imagination, and self assertion. I believe that perhaps the content in this print could be insinuating
human demeanors as well. The smiling and frowning faces in the center are associated with the human
expressions of smiling and frowning. Additionally, the words that are positioned around the faces
describe human qualities. This could also be illustrated by the saying, Smiling faces tell lies. The
quote tells that individuals can obscure their true emotions and feelings with their facial expressions.
This piece appears to be much more simple than the previous one, however many similarities and
differences between the two can be

The offshore drilling industry can be split into 5 key markets: upgrade market, contract drilling
market, second hand market, scrap market and contract drilling market. Among them contract drilling
market is most important, because it ensures smooth cash flow between markets. drilling units is
summarised in the table below.
The table above describes cash flow within offshore drilling markets. Contract drilling market leases
drilling units to O G companies to drill or service wells, in turn they receive day rates. The day rate is
the daily price to lease a rig and includes the use of the rig and its crew but does not include most of
the other costs associated with drilling and completing a well (e.g., casing, drilling fluids, logistics,
well evaluation, etc.). The drilling service industry is the largest and most closely followed of the five
markets and drives the activities of investors in the other markets.
The new build market uses shipyard labour and capital to convert steel and third party equipment into
rigs. Drilling contractors enter into turnkey contracts with shipyards for the construction and delivery
of one or more rigs, or yards may build on speculation. The new build market is primarily Asian with
major shipyards in Singapore, South Korea, and China.
The upgrade market is a ship repair market which both upgrades and maintains rigs. Upgrades
improve and modernize rig technology and represent significant capital expenditures.
In the second hand market, rigs are

Xenoestrogen Research Paper
We constantly hear the claim that you can t eat healthy on a budget, and to us that s a myth because a
family can eat a healthy diet with fruits and vegetables that meets the Dietary Guidelines for
Americans, says Robert Post, associate executive director of the USDA s Center for Nutrition Policy
and Promotion, as cited in an article by Nancy Hellmich of USA Today. Does this healthy diet include
the amount of hormones, chemicals and preservatives that is added to our daily food source? Unless
we buy our food from a local farm or have your own field to raise your crop, a healthy diet may not
necessarily be healthy if the food comes from your local grocery store. The majority of our local

So what is xenoestrogen? According to the medi lexicon website, xenoestrogens are any of the by
products of industrial or chemical processing that have estrogen like effects. When we look at its
Greek origin, the word xeno means alien or foreign, so xenoestrogen literally means a foreign

Media And Identity Essay
With the rise of media within the past few decades, media gained the power to shape society.
Everyday, millions and millions of people engage in some sort of media; they spend their time texting,
calling, or just browsing the internet looking up information, but mostly they utilize it for
entertainment. Media plays an important role in how everyone lives their daily lives, as they share
information that their audiences might relate to. A wide variety of audiences are consciously and
subconsciously influenced by whatever the media claims. As media only shows what they believe
their audience wants to hear and see, many become naive. Alongside the power that comes with
media, many people eventually turn to slaves to media. They blindly follow and believe what the
media says; it unknowingly forces them to remain ignorant. Consequently, the media can be a
distressing influence to individuals. Young individuals, who are still in the delicate stages of forming
their identity, identifying their wants and goals are easy targets for the media. Trapped in cyberspace,
they are constantly bombarded with information, which the majority of individuals do not take
advantage of. The media can act as a resource that young people may exploit as a guide to follow.
However, if they are exposed to the detrimental side of media, it will become a challenge for them to
figure out their true personal identity. The media tell what we should buy, who we should be, or who

The Development Of Software Defined Radio ( SDR )
Communication technologies have been in constant evolution during the past decades. Amongst these
digital communication is very relevant. The advent of the digital processor enabled us to perform the
complex tasks of communication such as transmission and receiving using a programmable system.
This led to the development of a new radio paradigm called Software Defined Radio (SDR). I believe
that software is increasing replacing hardware due to it s scalability and cost effectiveness; this idea
propelled me to research in this domain. cite{0001} Software Defined Radio is a type of system
which does the process of transmitting and modulation of radio waves using non traditional hardware

In this case I used one of the cheapest model: Raspberry Pi. The transmitter would transmit on
100MHz and with an output power of 1.5W. Modulation is done by adjusting the frequency using the
fractional divider between 100.025Mhz and 99.975Mhz, which makes the audio signal. cite{0002}
Future Work: The earlier system devised could be improved by implementing the following features:
Change Frequency: The Raspberry Pi GPIO pin 4 always transmits the radio waves at the value of
100MHz. I plan to make it possible for the user to set his own frequency value from the traditional FM
radio spectrum. Support more file formats: Currently the designed code only supports the .ogg format
this is because of it s ease of use in terms of audio manipulation and its ability of holding meta data.
Since most users do not use this format for their audio files and in order to remove the conversion over
head, my future work would involve providing support for more conventional file formats such as
.mp3 and .wav . Further, I plan to make use of this SDR based transmitter for Cognitive Radio
Communications, that is, developing a dynamic transceiver which can intelligently detect unused
channels and broadcast on the best channel thus avoiding interference. Mobile devices are dealing

What is teeth whitening? Teeth whitening is the process of using bleach or other materials to make the
teeth appear whiter. The materials remove stains or other discoloration from the tooth surface. The
main concern of everyone, is should it be allowed outside of a dental office or not. There are articles
upon articles, debating whether teeth whitening should be allowed in salons or kiosks, and dental

The book by Rubin is cited on account of its clarity of exposition, but this approach is documented in
many sources. J Nielsen advocates an approach he calls discount usability engineering .
Typical Application Areas
These approaches may be used at any stage in the process, although discount usability engineering
assumes the existence of a prototype that can stand on its own.
Benefits
The method can be seen as an alternative to more extensive trials, which may take place later, prior to
a release of a product.
Limitations
If planning and preparation work is underestimated, results may be of little value.
Cost of use
Basic needs for this approach are paper forms for the observers, and equipment to show the interface
on a screen or wall. This equipment could include an overhead projector, a computer screen, a barco,
or a video based system with monitor. Optional materials needed would be a video camera to record
the test session, log software and a computer with a simple data logging program.
Costs of Acquisition
This approach is public domain. The work of Rubin is particularly useful as a starting point.

Continuing My Studies and Specializing in Transfer Pricing
At the moment, my spirit to study becomes even more increasing after finishing my master in

The Importance Of Technology In Communication
Technology can play a positive role in communication ,example, live video and audio chats that
increase understanding through nonverbal messages and increase connection at the same time. While
technology like iMessaging can have a negative influence because it lacks nonverbal communication,
can often be distracting us from life, makes people anxious when they have to wait for people to
respond, is highly susceptible to misunderstandings and makes people feel lonely. On the other hand,
FaceTime has been able to provide expressions and voice cues that help bring meaning to verbal
messages which enhances trust and decreases the amount of misunderstandings that go on in
conversations. While, the relationship that is most influenced by technology is my friends at Uconn
because we spend most of the relationship face to face.
A new communication technology I believe is having a positive influence on interpersonal
relationships is FaceTime. FaceTime allows nonverbal communication to happen, which is one of the
most important forms of communication as it plays a role in about sixty five percent of all face to face
conversations. For example, my best friend and I would communicate about our daily troubles through
FaceTime. We thought this would be beneficial to our friendship because through FaceTime we were
able to distinguish other s feelings. If they looked for example ,like they were feeling sympathetic or
empathetic, we would figure that they have sincere intentions. Knowing

Myers Brigg Type Indicator The Myers Brigg Assessment, and the four dimensions of personality
types based on the findings of Carl Jung, Isabel Myers and Katharine Briggs, indicates Katie as an
ISFJ (intuitive, sensing, feeling, and judging). People falling into this category are often known as
nurturers. Additionally, individuals of this personality type tend to be practical, and sensitive towards
other s feelings. These traits make the ISFJ personality ideal for careers such as counseling where they
are needed to give practical and emotional support. ISFJ personality types are reliable, and exhibit a
strong sense of responsibility and duty (Sharf, 2013). Moreover, this personality type prefers
organization, planning, and schedules, (Neukrug Fawcett, 2015); qualities that Katie has presented in
her coaching positions. These characteristics have been noted in jobs that Katie has held. Furthermore,
ISFJ individuals carry high standards of work ethic (ISFJ Introverted, Sensing, feeling, Judging).
Careers where they serve others best suit their personality style. Both of Katie s career pursuits
necessitate serving others. ISFJ s are warm, sensitive to others feelings, and value kindness; additional
qualities essential qualities to being a genuine counselor and caring, nurturing, supportive coach
(Portrait of an ISFJ, 2015).

Differences Between Feminist Theology And Christian Theology
If one were to ask ten modern day theologians to define the word theology, it is likely that they would
hear ten different answers. Even within the various types of theology, for example, Christian theology,
there are a wide spectrum of attitudes and beliefs. Even more so, if one were to compare evangelical
theology with feminist theology, the differences would add up quickly. Two modern day theologians,
Stanley Grenz and Catherine Keller, well known in their respective fields, have approached their
theology from different backgrounds. The most obvious is the difference in gender. However, their
theological methodologies, the definition, and nature of their theological goals and their approach to
being biblically faithful are vastly different. By careful examination, these two theologians and their
specific ideologies in relating to evangelical theology and feminist theology will influence how a
person approaches their own theology.
Considered a prolific theologian, Stanley Grenz was a leader among evangelical theologians (Warner,
2005, p. 42). Author of a multitude of books on diverse subject matters including eschatology, ethics,
Trinity, and homosexuality, Grenz initially defended his Baptist customs (Warner, 2005). However,
considered as his greatest contribution, was his ability to bridge the evangelicals from their own world
of thought to engage the larger scholarly world (Warner, 2005, p. 43). He was the first to consider
postmodern thought, recognizing

For starters, Mandelbaum is very long winded his chapters go on forever. There are certain ideas that
he can convey in 5 pages but instead, he chooses to do so in 15 pages. His writing style is so plain that
it makes following the chapters that much harder. The information that Mandelbaum presents about in
relation to the sports of baseball, football and basketball are good I just wish his chapters were shorter.
Information can get lost quickly if there are 80 pages of information to read about one sport. Aside
from that, I learned a lot from his chapter about basketball. In chronological order, Mandelbaum
writes how the game of basketball shifted from a sport that was primarily white to primarily African
American. The first African American player to enter the NBA was in 1950. By the 1980s four out of
every five starting players in the league were black. Mandelbaum makes the argument that African
Americans were needed in the league or else the game would not have been as developed as it is now.
The game as it developed would have been far poorer in every way without them (Mandelbaum,248).
The same time that the professional game was developing so too was the street game. In chapter 4 I
learned about the winner take all market. According to investopedia.com, this is a concept in which
the best performers are able to capture a very large share of the rewards, and the remaining
competitors are left with very little. The chances of most African American making it to the NBA is
very slim, according to the book chances are 135,800 to

Earthquakes In Southern California
There is no shortage of earthquakes in Southern California. On any given day this area sees numerous
earthquakes, though most are barely even felt. The concern here is what will happen when another
earthquake occurs in a large dense area such as Los Angeles County, California. One question
concerns earthquake preparedness of residents in this region. Do residents know what to do in order to
prepare for an earthquake? Are residents prepared for a medium to large sized earthquake? Another
question is, how prepared are buildings when it comes to the shaking from a medium to large
earthquake? Will these buildings protect residents and employees, or do they pose a severe threat
when faced with another earthquake?

In order to map earthquake hazard zones correctly geologists found that not only should they be
mapping historic earthquake epicenters but also a detailed map of every single fault line. Not until the
deadly Long Beach earthquake of 1933 did politicians and engineers feel the need to start earthquake

hospitals were severely damaged that more policies were put in place to earthquake proof these
structures (Mualchin 2011). The schools which were structurally designed to withstand earthquakes
from the Field Act faired surprisingly well during this earthquake. The new policies that followed the
San Fernando earthquake required hospitals and infrastructure to be designed to withstand an
earthquake, also they required rupture hazard zones to be mapped so that development here would be

Even though two of the most historical mosques, Hagia Sophia and the Dome of the Rock, are built for different religions, but due to a sharing purpose, which being praying to God, the difference can barely be noticed. It is a mosque located in Jerusalem built between 691 and 692 by Umayyad caliph Abd al Malik. The place this mosque is built on is sacred to both, Muslims and Jews. According to Muslims, Muhammad ascended into heaven from here and the Jews believe that Abraham prepared to sacrifice Isaac here. Both inside and outside of the mosque holds magnificent beauty, elegance, and color. The structure is an octagonal exterior wall placed under a golden dome. The bright arabesque patterning that decorates the exterior of the building, not only catches the eye, but also greatly contrasts the plain exteriors of Christian Basilicas. The surface decoration of the interior of the Dome of the Rock has 240 metres of inscription mainly verses from the Qur an just below the ceiling on both faces of the inner octagon. At approximately1415 hours, officers were dispatched to the Rhatigan Student Center for a suspicious character. Dispatch notified all officers that they were still gathering more information at the time but the suspicious character was a black male with crutches. They also said the subject was yelling someone had a gun. I notified dispatch that Officer Albert and I were out at the RSC. I parked our patrol car on the north side of the RSC and entered the north door. I heard Officer Smith on the radio say he was out with the subject near the Credit Union. I observed from across the RSC Officer J. Smith and Officer R. Faison standing next to a black male all the way by the Book Store. As I walked closer, I could see the black male with both of his hands up in the air and he was getting down on both of his knees. When I got to the Credit Union, I saw a set of crutches and a black bag laying on the floor. I told Officer Albert to stay here with these items as I continued to go behind the black male. In the play, Cassius has an evil, manipulative personality; he can be your friend one minute then Cassius can be your worst enemy. Although Cassius was not popular with the people of Rome, he became the ringleader of the conspirators. Cassius displays the personality of a shrewd opportunist, who doesn t believe in the rule of one person. He believes there should be an elected set of officials; to decide on the laws for Rome. He resides as a very close friend to Julius Caesar, before he became the Roman king. Cassius played a large role in the assassination of Julius Caesar (I.ii.90 115). When Julius Caesar became godlike to the roman people, Cassius had much dislike toward Julius. He thought that Julius appeared too incompetent and weak to the point of embarrassment, and wanted him removed from the throne. In the play, Cassius manipulates Brutus into thinking that Caesar has become too powerful and that he needed to be killed. He also uses flattery to sway Brutus into becoming part of his plan (I.ii.48 51). Cassius tricked Brutus into finally believing the Roman people wanted Caesar dead by forging letters from the people that do convey these thoughts (I.iii.142 148). The Media And Its Portrayal Of Athletes According to Knight and Giuliano s 2001 article, gender equality has been and will remain a current topic of hot discussion in the media and its portrayal of athletes. Athletes have a unique ability to deliver their thoughts and information to the masses through the media outlets given to them in regard to their social status. Once the media has heard what the athletes have to say it can be at the media s hand for interpretation. In this specific study 92 undergraduates were given a fake newspaper that covered an Olympian with the main focus being on attractiveness. The study covered male and female athletes in the newspaper article while focusing predominantly on attractiveness. Results show that the readers not only disliked the attraction focus, but also preferred the reading be more focused on the athleticism of the Olympians. The largest take away from the study is the media and its coverage or portrayal of athletes being geared towards athletic achievement over quality of appearance In Riebock and Bae s 2013 literature review they discuss the differences in men and women athletes body perception in the media. To get their results they used multiple questionnaires that revolved around questions dealing with body shame, self objectification and their appearance goal. Everyday, millions and millions of people engage in some sort of media; they spend their time texting, calling, or just browsing the internet looking up information, but mostly they utilize it for entertainment. Media plays an important role in how everyone lives their daily lives, as they share information that their audiences might relate to. A wide variety of audiences are consciously and subconsciously influenced by whatever the media claims. As media only shows what they believe their audience wants to hear and see, many become naive. Alongside the power that comes with media, many people eventually turn to slaves to media. They blindly follow and believe what the media says; it unknowingly forces them to remain ignorant. Consequently, the media can be a distressing influence to individuals. Young individuals, who are still in the delicate stages of forming their identity, identifying their wants and goals are easy targets for the media. Trapped in cyberspace, they are constantly bombarded with information, which the majority of individuals do not take advantage of. The media can act as a resource that young people may exploit as a guide to follow. However, if they are exposed to the detrimental side of media, it will become a challenge for them to figure out their true personal identity. The media tell what we should buy, who we should be, or who we should become... which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sisters Of Mercy Scholarship Essay Becoming a distinctive mercy graduate means to understand personal truths and values,to mature, to be connected, spiritual, and to be able to accept responsibilities towards society. During my Mercy Today project I learned so much information about the current works of the Sisters of Mercy that connected with what I learned about the history of the Sisters of Mercy and their critical concerns. For example, I learned that a man named, Jim Wither, M.D.,which is the founder and medical director of Operation Safety Net, a ministry of Pittsburgh Mercy Health System (PMHS) and Trinity Health in the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy, he did his work on the streets of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He did what the Sisters of Mercy were doing in Ireland in the mid 19th Century. Since 1992, Withers has transversed areas under bridges, abandoned buildings, streets and and alleyways, seeking people in Pittsburgh who are homeless, to show them compassion by offering a listening ear, support, medical care and hope. The advent of the digital processor enabled us to perform the complex tasks of communication such as transmission and receiving using a programmable system. This led to the development of a new radio paradigm called Software Defined Radio (SDR). I believe that software is increasing replacing hardware due to it s scalability and cost effectiveness; this idea propelled me to research in this domain. cite{0001} Software Defined Radio is a type of system which does the process of transmitting and modulation of radio waves using non traditional hardware like Raspberry pi with the help of software. I plan to make it possible for the user to set his own frequency value from the traditional FM radio spectrum. Support more file formats: Currently the designed code only supports the .ogg format this is because of it s ease of use in terms of audio manipulation and its ability of holding meta data. Since most users do not use this format for their audio files and in order to remove the conversion over head, my future work would involve providing support for more conventional file formats such as .mp3 and .wav . It was not the best place to set up winter camp for the Continental Army, as it was unable to defend southern Pennsylvania at the time. The area was close enough to the British to keep their raiding and foraging parties out of the interior of Pennsylvania, yet far enough away to halt the threat of British surprise attacks. • 42. Differences Between Feminist Theology And Christian Theology If one were to ask ten modern day theologians to define the word theology, it is likely that they would hear ten different answers. Even within the various types of theology, for example, Christian theology, there are a wide spectrum of attitudes and beliefs. Even more so, if one were to compare evangelical theology with feminist theology, the differences would add up quickly. Two modern day theologians, Stanley Grenz and Catherine Keller, well known in their respective fields, have approached their theology from different backgrounds. The most obvious is the difference in gender. However, their theological methodologies, the definition, and nature of their theological goals and their approach to being biblically faithful are vastly different. By careful examination, these two theologians and their specific ideologies in relating to evangelical theology and feminist theology will influence how a person approaches their own theology. Considered a prolific theologian, Stanley Grenz was a leader among evangelical theologians (Warner, 2005, p. 42). Author of a multitude of books on diverse subject matters including eschatology, ethics, Trinity, and homosexuality, Grenz initially defended his Baptist customs (Warner, 2005). However, considered as his greatest contribution, was his ability to bridge the evangelicals from their own world of thought to engage the larger scholarly world (Warner, 2005, p. 43).
