Essay On Cell Phone Distraction
Running Head:CELL PHONE DISTRACTION 3 Cell Phone Distractions Cell phones and technology
in general has advanced a lot over the last ten years. Allowing students to be able to take their phones
or devices wherever they want in today s society. Thus bringing forward the issue of cell phone
distraction in the classroom. Concerns about cell phones in the classrooms are also grounded in what
we know about teenage brains, including the inability to concentrate while multi tasking and possibly
long term effects on overall health (12) Multitasking is hard enough and if teens are doing this in the
classroom that means that kids are not learning enough while staring at their phones while the teacher
is teaching. Having said this a study from Pew research center stated that 78 percent of teens check
their devices hourly , this is insane. If that is true that means on average a student will at least look at
her/his device once per class period. As being a student in high school i find this to be very true.
Another study from Pew Research center stated that 50% of teens 13 18 feel addicted to their phones ,
this means that means separating from their phones will be tough. The reason i am writing about this
topic is to inform people about this epidemic and i am stating why this needs to be fixed. Unlike other
technologies there is something very specific about smartphones it represents life, entertainment,
social Running Head:CELL PHONE DISTRACTION 4 media, and gaming (12) the reason for this is
because of apps such as Netflix, Hulu, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and gaming apps. Phones being
allowed in the classroom are tempting for students. Students feel a vibration in their pockets and feel
the need to check their phones. Apps for example snapchat will flash the camera light when the
student receives a snap from someone. A research from Pew Research center asked a teacher what her
thoughts were on the issue. It s just too tempting for a student. Once that phone is brought out, most
can t resist texting a friend or begin playing a game. (12) Schools are allowing this epidemic to spread

The Bloody Root Of Titus Andronicus
The Bloody Root of Titus Andronicus: An Argument of Intent and Origin
There are have been many arguments throughout the history of Shakespearean academia regarding the
validity of Shakespeare s authorship to Titus Andronicus, and the critics have not been shy to express
their discontent of its seemingly endless violent montage. As Michael Fentiman and Harold Fuller
point out of what Dr. Samuel Johnson spoke to in 1765,
all the editors and critics agree in supposing this play spurious...for the colour of style is wholly
different from that of the other plays, the barbarity of the spectacles and the general massacre which
are here exhibited can scarcely be tolerable...That Shakespeare wrote any part...I see no reason in
believing (Fentiman). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Virtually, all the central characters killed each other off in a downward spiral of luscious revenge
(Shakespeare). It is striking in its contrast to the likes of Romeo and Juliet or Hamlet or Macbeth to
where Shakespeare dove deep into the emotions and psyche of human life (RedEyesTakeWarning).
Violence and death were not foreign concepts to the people of the Elizabethan era, as medieval life
was chocked full of war, famine, and plague. In the case of entertainment, violence and death were no
strangers as people would flock to see bear baiting, including Queen Elizabeth. (Mabillard).
Allistair Brown claims that we take entertainment out of simulated violence because it is cathartic
(Brown). Brown also argues that, Violence becomes comic because laughter, denying the reality or
seriousness of whatever threatens, is a way of dealing with trauma (Brown). With the world being
consumed with death at every doorstep, what is so far fetched at the notion that Titus Andronicus is an
extremely dark comedy to help a broken soul cope with the grim reality of medieval life? As there is
almost nothing else for society to take away as a benefit from the play (RedEyesTakeWarning), what
else could it be? There are already plenty of examples in literature that deliver morals and lessons
learned from seeking revenge. Why

Comparison of Homer and Virgil’s Tragic Hero
Comparison of Homer and Virgil s Tragic Hero
Homer, an ancient Greek epic poet, influenced many writers in the ancient Greek and Roman culture,
particularly Virgil. Virgil, most famous for his epic poem The Aeneid demonstrates Homer s influence
through similar characters, mythology, and ideals. Homer in both his most famous works the Iliad and
The Odyssey weaves poetry based on centuries worth of oral stories handed down and uses a
sophisticated style of writing that is still recognized today. Although the tragic hero is defined slightly
differently in modern text than ancient Greek and Roman works, Aristotle defined a tragic hero in his
work Poetics as the character between these two extremes, that of a man who is not eminently good ...

Homer used pride as the tragic flaw that Achilles learned to overcome, whereas Virgil used a sense of
duty as Aeneas s tragic flaw. Homer portrayed Achilles as arrogant because he allowed his men to
fight a battle he knew they could not win without him. Achilles asked his mother for Zeus to favor the
Trojans so that he could regain the honor that he felt Agamemnon stripped away. Aeneas s tragic flaw
unlike Achilles was his sense of duty, which in turn he encountered pitfalls during his escape from
Troy. Achilles battled for personal glory and his own honor as a warrior whereas Aeneas spent his time
attempting to fulfill his mission, which forced him to invade and conquer, a duty given to him by the
gods. Virgil unites and conjoins all the virtues in the formation of his hero: He gives him religion
towards the gods, piety towards his country, tenderness and friendship towards his relations, and
equity and justice towards all (Rapin). On the contrary, Homer magnified the tragic flaw in Achilles,
which cost him his sanity because he became obsessive with revenge. Although Aeneas s flaw appears
minor in comparison to Achilles, it led him to be an instrument of gods, which in turn destroyed
innocent lives. Mercury appeared to Aeneas to remind him of his mission and told him, Oblivious of
your own world, your own kingdom...He [Zeus] and no other sent me to you...Think of the

Victorian Internet Chapter 1 Summary
The Victorian Internet tells of telegraph s development and creation. Also, it talks of its remarkable
impact, oddballs, and the visionaries together with the eccentrics who pioneered the telegram
development. According to the book, by the year 1865, the telegraph cables started to span into
different oceans to continents rapidly and played an essential role of revolutionizing on ways countries
dealt with each other (Standage 15). Due to the creation of telegram, the book provides that some
impacts were realized including the creation of businesses and more job opportunities. Additionally,
based on Chapter 1 reading, it sparked the development of criminal activities and also gave rise to
more business practices, promoted to development of new forms of crime (Standage 145). The
Victorian Internet is a book written by Tom Standage, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main interesting point in the book is when the author focuses more on the culture change that was
realized in operators, governments, businesses, and newspapers as a result of telegram invention
(Standage 137). It is from this chapter that the book readers can easily and better understand the
uniqueness that was associated with telegraph technology in transforming society, accelerating the
world together with annihilating distances. Standage portrays an inner description of coding books
that were used by brokers and traders, as well as the establishment of new and effective agencies. It is
from telegram development that individuals like the Romans decided to blossomed over cables and
wires, others decided to come up with secret codes over there devices with issues related to
cybersecurity also being realized. The main benefit that telegram is considered to have brought about
is excellent improvements in communication especially from the significant developments that were
recognized in the field of the printing press (Standage

The Dangers Of Cockfighting In Bali
When one thinks of Bali, one will most possibly envision the white sand beaches, clear blue skies,
calming water and the huge number of Western tourists there. Chances that one will jump into the idea
of cockfighting in Bali villages would probably be very low. Cockfighting plays a pivotal role in the
life of numerous Balinese men. As Geertz (2005), an American anthropologist suggested, cockfighting
is considered as a part of The Balinese Way of Life . A cockfight, in a straightforward explanation,
means a fight between two roosters in a caged ring until one of them dies for the amusement of
spectators (PETA, n.d.). However, to Balinese men, it means so much more than this it is an obsession
that has been passed down through generations.
Every year in Bali, there will be legal large scale cockfights in almost every village of Bali. This
precedes the renowned public holiday in Bali called Nyepi, where people in Bali are not allowed to go
out of their houses and even have to turn off the lights when they are indoors. This is done in order to
avoid contacts with influx of demons that are chased out of hell for an instant moment (Geertz, 2005).
Before a cockfight, a tadji a razor sharp dagger about four to five inches long would be attached to

For any religious ceremony to commence, the blood of at least three roosters needed to be spilled on
the ground (TravelGrom, 2014). In addition, it is believed that cockfighting is related to certain kind
of power animalistic demons. It is seen as a part of Balinese Hindu ritual with blood considered as
sacrifice offerings to assuage the demons hunger. After harvesting crops, one would usually need to
sacrifice the roosters before digging the soil, as it is regarded as Bali villages adat or local law, which
demands sacrifices to be made for good harvests (The Jakarta Post,

Conflict In The Kite Runner
Middle Eastern Literature
The way of life in Afghanistan is very different from life in America. The conflicts, transformations,
and aspects of human condition from the excerpts of The Kite Runner as well as the articles and
poems discussed in class provide a deeper understanding of what life is really like in the Middle East.
A conflict in literature is defined as any struggle between two opposing forces. The Kite Runner is
filled with both internal and external conflicts that gives the reader insight into the main character,
Amir s, life and thought processes. The first prevalent internal conflict is Amir s mother s death during
his birth and his battle with the way [he] ached for the mother [he] had never met. This ache affected
him psychologically as he struggled to cope with her loss his whole life, well as affected the
relationship he has with his father, who he calls Baba. The second internal conflict is that Amir feels
like he cannot relate to Baba and that he and his father are very different minded people. The first
example of Amir feeling unconnected from Baba is when he was young and Baba would shut him out
of the smoking room during grown ups time and Amir would sit there for an hour, sometimes two,
listening to their laughter, their chatter. This lead Amir to wonder why it was always grown ups time
with him. The first time we see that these two are different minded is when the bus is stopped at the
checkpoint in Mahipar and the Russian soldier wants

How Did Leonardo Da Vinci Change The World
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication . Leonardo da Vinci was a quiet man, but is well known for
his intelligence. He was a man of few words, and never bragged about his intelligence. He let his work
do the talking for him. Leonardo da Vinci was one of the world s most incredible minds. He changed
the word with his scientific discoveries, many inventions, and beautiful art. Da Vinci was born on
April 15, 1452 in Vinci, Italy. He was born out of wedlock to Ser Piero and a peasant women. His
father was a well respected notary, but was never involved in Leonardo s life ( Renaissance Man ).
Leonardo only received a general education, which included reading, writing, and basic math. His
teachers and mother quickly realized his potential, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Renaissance was a new age in Europe. It means rebirth , which was a demonstration of what was
going on at the time. People began to explore the world, develop new artistic styles, and make
advances in math and science ( Renaissance ). Leonardo was the leader of the pack. He is the man
behind the brush of some of the most iconic paintings ever, including The Last Supper , Mona Lisa ,
and Vitruvian Man. He was commissioned by Ludovico in 1495 to begin the last supper. The painting
took da Vinci nearly three years, and shows the moment went Jesus notifies his Twelve Apostles that
one of them would soon betray him. Da Vinci does an incredible job of capturing the intensity of the
moment. He demonstrates his brilliance with his masterful strokes that portray the facial expressions
and body language of everyone in the room ( Leonardo da Vinci ). Leonardo spent a lot of time
examining the human body to try perfecting his art. He had an acute understanding of proportions and
movements of the human body. In his painting, Vitruvian Man , it is clear that he understands more
than most humans of that time period. Vitruvian Man states that the average man is nearly two meters
tall, and his outstretched arms are equal to the length of his body ( The Complete Works ). In the
Mona Lisa , uses some of his own techniques to make the painting extremely realistic. He treated
objects as 3 D figures, and used shadows, instead of lines, when outlining figures. Nobody knows who
Mona Lisa depicts, but that is beside the fact. It is easily one of the most famous paintings of all time.
Using his knowledge, da Vinci made his paintings more realistic and defined. He is also credited with
developed the techniques known as chiaroscuro and sfumato. These techniques involve using shadows
and subtle gradations in the paint. These techniques, along with his overall understanding

ERO Meeting Summary
A meeting was held on Monday, August 3, 2015 regarding a new beginning for ERO and its structural
change. The intention of this meeting was to begin a process of teamwork and to build on strengths of
the caseworkers and supervisors; as well as looking at cases from a different perspective and
improving performance outcomes. At that time, the decision was placed on hold as there were
expressions of concern that the two units identified and the caseworkers wish to remain in their
current units.
A subsequent meeting was held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 to discuss the identified concerns. With

What Is The Difference Between Korotokoff Sound And Dub...
What anatomical structure of the heart produces the lub and dub sounds? The anatomical structure that
makes the lub is the atrium. This is when the atria closes off at the tricuspid and mitral valves after
filling the ventricle. The dub sound is the opposite. This is when the ventricles close off at the aortic
and pulmonary valves. What are Korotkoff sounds? They are the sounds, heard with a stethoscope, as
the pressure from the blood pressure cuff starts to release. How are Korotkoff sounds different from
the lub dub sounds? The Korotkoff Sounds differ from the lub, dub sounds because the lub,dub sounds
can be heard from any normal ear. Whereas the K sounds need to be heard by stethoscope. The heart

Fallacious Argument About Juror 12

Words 1014 FALLACIOUS ARGUMENT OF 12 ANGRY MEN
The arguments without logical reasoning or invalid reasoning are called fallacious argument. In this
movie there are many situations where people have used fallacious argument, which is listed below.
#Juror 8.He is nineteen years old.
Initially EIGHT argue that kid is only 19 years old, how could he kill his father. But this age is enough
for thinking what to do or not. We have not any reasonable logic behind that kid can t murder.
#Juror 8.There were eleven votes for guilty.

#Juror 7.The boy looks not guilty.
This is situation when after a long discussion people do not get clear result. SEVEN wants to go his
home and without having a valid reason decide that boy is not guilty. Here is the issue of a life.
Concluding for personal work is very shameful.
#Juror 8.You do not believe the boy s story, how can you believe the woman s.
I think it is not necessary that if one story seems wrong then another will also be. If someone don t
believe on one story then it is not necessary for them to not believe on another. We can t force another
to view everything in similar way.
#Juror 3.Nobody proved otherwise
If someone blame on me that i have killed someone and i have no evidence, it means not i really killed
someone. During initial inspection of the case there was no evidence in favor of kid. Due to that we
should not assume that kid had killed his father. There may be also possibility that all the evidences
are false.

Conversation Partner s Communication Analysis
Profile of your Conversation Partner s Communication
What are the features of your CP s communication? Consider how they express themselves (think
about verbal and non verbal means).
JR has mild, fluent, anomic aphasia. People with fluent aphasia have difficulties understanding spoken
and written language, but expression is mostly within normal limits (Robb, 2014). JR has difficulties
naming certain words, often nouns. For example, she was having trouble naming Riverstone , a
restaurant, so instead she said Dot s (the owner) place near the Waitaki River . She mainly
communicates verbally, but is not afraid to show us something using her body if she cannot express
what she would like using words. For example, she has an oddly shaped ball in her living room which
we asked about. She then demonstrated to us how she uses the ... Show more content on

Sometimes before our visit, JR and JM (the other CP in our group) work with fourth year Speech and
Language students. Some of this work involves reading from a book, and then they answer questions
about the book or review the plot and features of the novel. This seems to tire them out, as they do not
take much of a break before our visit (the break is normally only around five minutes, the time it takes
for them to pack up from their previous session). They are normally fine for the first 45 minutes and
show no signs of fatigue, but by the end of the hour it is always evident that they are tired and would
like to end the visit. On the sessions where they don t have the fourth years visit, or have not had
another session before us, their communication ability is consistent. When we had our reflection after
the first term, we decided that forty minute visits might be more productive. With a tighter structure of
visits, we could have better discussions and ensure all the time we used was useful. This also meant
that JR and JM will not as exhausted after our visits and have more positive

Transitioning Into High School
The effect of choosing which high school a student will be attending will last longer than the four
years. The decision follows the student into college, continuing their habits set in high school. The
more basic question is whether they will attend a same sex or co ed school. The different types of high
schools do not only effect the 9 12th grade experience but effects the behavior of students
transitioning into college classrooms. This is a common debate in my house: whether it is helpful to
attend same sex high schools or not. My sister attended a same sex school and her college professor
noticed before she could tell him. Because of her active participation and constant hand raising, her
teacher asked if she attended a single sex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It took me a few years of high school to be comfortable raising my hand in class. I was too scared to
ask something dumb, or answer a question wrong that I found myself and other girls asking each other
questions before asking the teacher, said Jessica Recker, senior at Perrysburg high school. Many co ed
schools find it necessary to have a talk to males about how to treat female classmates and how to
behave themselves while also teachings girls how to properly treat their make classmates. Single sex
schools communicate more on how to handle the drama that may occur when putting same sex
students together. Transitioning from high school to college is a complex process for students from all
schools. It s complexity is rooted not only in choosing the gender of the school but rather the size,
environment, distance and other factors that go into determining where these new adults will go for
their next four years. Although the college atmosphere is a new feel for all incoming freshmen, the
habits and behavior students learn from high school tend to stick with them when they enter classes at
universities. The effect of going to a same sex high school can show differently in all students at the
start of college. The same goes for co ed graduating

in this industry line, and many of them are the large companies that have many chains along the line.
Therefore, I would like to focus on one big company, and categorize its chains in each competitive
strategy, Marriott. Marriott is a worldwide operator and franchisor of a broad portfolio of hotels and
related lodging facilities. It has more than 3,000 lodging properties located in the United States and 67

business oriented hotels like Wingate Inn and Hilton Garden Inn. With its full services at affordable
price, the customers are both the normal travelers and the business travelers as they are viewed as the

Marriot Conference Centers is a Quality tier brand specializing in highly effective small to mid sized

the business, meetings, and the results. As it clearly stated its position, it is no doubt to classify it in
this category as their focus its on the business people who have the business at a hand to negotiate or
the meetings to conduct; therefore, it tends to provide all other facilities in order to let their customers
focus on only their business.

Desire May Lead To Destruction In A Streetcar Named Desire
Desire May Lead to Destruction In the play Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams shows
Blanche as a symbol of a Southern lady, the pinnacle of a civilization. In the forties, upper class
southern women s expectations were based on a Victorian model of a woman. The perception was that
women did not express their sexuality and wore clothing that did not expose any body parts. Also,
women did not have many roles except for a housewife, and two appropriate jobs as a teacher or a
nurse. Blanche is an English teacher from a Mississippi. She was raised in a wealthy family and got a
great education. At sixteen years old, she fell deeply in love with a boy named Allan Gray (Williams
1857). Their marriage served as different grounds for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Right away, he told his wife and Mitch about it. While Blanche was taking a bath she was singing, But

Mitch and kept the truth from her sister. Thus, the lyrics she was singing show that she lives in her
world of illusions. That day, she was expecting Mitch to come over to celebrate her birthday.
However, he did not show up. At a table, Stanley gave Blanche a ticket back to Laurel as a gift,
knowing that she can not go back there. Stella was upset about it because she knew that it will ruin her
tender and trusting sister (Williams 1865). According to Encyclopedia Britannica, psychotic behavior
can come and go as a result of various influences. The effects of some drugs can cause psychotic
episodes, or a traumatic situation that affects a person s psychological well being might trigger the
episode of neurosis ( Neurosis ). Blanche feels like her future is slipping away from her and becomes
highly neurotic. In her head, she hears the same polka tune, the Varsouviana , (after which Allen shot
himself) and she started to drink to escape the reality (Williams 1866). The Same night when Mitch
came to confront her, she admits to him about intimacies and school expulsion. When he said that she
told him all lies, in return she said, Never inside, I didn t lie in my heart and I don t want realism. I
want magic! (Williams 1869). Maybe in her mind she was still married to Allen. At the very last, it
gives Blanche a credit for her honesty. Nothing in the play justifies the condemnation of her. Yet,
nothing justifies her innocence either after her husband s death (Thomieres

island is due to the inherent evil of man. I believe that the lack of societal influence is the cause of the
breakdown on the island, and not the inherent evil of man. Studying this further I found the novel
rather pessimistic and opinionated, to which I undertook additional research. My analysis of a range of
critical evaluations, turned up a profound number of contrasting views and opinion, of some which
partly aligned with my hypothesis and others with my viewpoint. However what is clear is that with
time the critics views changed, with more aligned, with my view point, that man is not inherently evil.
During this analysis I will make reference to the author William Golding in addition the work of
critics, Bernard F. Dick (1987), John F. Fitzgerald John R. Kayser (1992) and Kathleen Woodward
(1997), to deliver a compressive, in depth analysis into the cause of societal breakdown on

Safety And Prevention Of Central Line Blood Stream Infections
Safety and Prevention of Central Line Blood Stream Infections
Shelbie N. Langless
Tidewater Community College
With all the traffic continuously moving through the hospital it is important to make sure that infection
control and safety are always being taken into consideration. There are several infections that can be
acquired in the hospital setting, but one of the most prevalent is a central line associated blood stream
infections (CLABSI). A CLABSI is a primary bloodstream infection (that is, there is no apparent
infection at another site) that develops in a patient with a central line in place within the 48 hour
period before onset of the bloodstream infection that is not related to infection at another site (The
Joint Commission, 2015, CLABSI Toolkit Introduction). With that being said, a central line is a long
catheter that accesses a major vein in the body that leads to the heart. Central lines can be used for
drawing blood and administration of medicine and blood products.
Nurses Role In Safety Nurses play various different roles during their career; depending on the patient
they re providing care for. The roles of the nurse include, but aren t limited to, caregiver,
communicator, teacher, and patient advocate. In order to ensure patients are receiving quality care,
nurses must first make sure they are using safe practice. Communicating with other health
professionals while serving as a patient advocate is essential when keeping the patient

Glow Sticks Experiment
This experiment is about glow sticks so here are some facts. Let s talk about glowsticks and
everything about them. Light is generated from a chemical reaction which is called
chemiluminescence. Typical glow sticks use a hydrogen peroxide solution, a solution of phenyl
oxalate ester, and a fluorescent dye. Glow sticks are plastic tubes containing glass vials that emit light
when they are cracked/ bent. They have a glow time from 6 12 hours. It also depends on the size of the
glow stick and other stuff like that. Glow sticks are also waterproof if you did not already know that.
Energy created by the chemical reaction is what creates the color. If glow sticks did not have
fluorescent dye there would be no color. Glow sticks might look like they

Euthanasia Often Surfaces In Mainstream News As Being A
Euthanasia often surfaces in mainstream news as being a highly controversial issue, with strong
arguments for both positions. To be clear, euthanasia can be defined as the following, Intentionally
taking the life of a presumably hopeless person (Gay Williams, 781). There are also several other
distinctions that classify euthanasia as either active or passive, based on the level of action involved,
or as voluntary, involuntary, or non voluntary, based on the level of consent (Dittmer). However, in
this paper, when I use the term euthanasia, I am speaking of euthanasia in any of its forms. Thus, I will
argue that all forms of euthanasia are morally impermissible. Lastly, I will assess an objection to my
argument, but in the end show that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second premise is true, because given the definition of euthanasia, no one is being saved by the
act, but only the opposite, someone is being killed. For an action to be considered euthanasia, three
conditions must be met: there must be the taking of a life, the person whose life is taken must be
suffering from a disease with a terminal prognosis, and the action must be intentional (Gay Williams,
781). Accordingly, it is evident that there is no aspect of self defense in this case, and no one s life is
being saved in the process of euthanasia. Therefore, it is true that euthanasia is an action that involves
the taking of someone s life, without the saving of another s life.
Therefore, given the preceding reasons for the truth of the premises, and the valid argument form,
modus ponens, the argument against euthanasia is sound. In defense of the premises, I utilized the
moral theory of natural law. For this theory, an action is judged to be moral or immoral based on it
being in accord with the natural law or not. This natural law is built into our very nature as human
beings, so an action is moral if it is consistent with our nature. I used this moral theory to show that
the desire to survive is a part of our natural law, and thus euthanasia is against our natural law as
human beings.
One might object to my argument by way of utilitarian reasoning. In

A Study Of Adhesion And The Entry Of Magnetite Nanoparticles
We present experimental and theoretical results from a study of adhesion and the entry of magnetite
nanoparticles (MNP) into MDA MB 231 breast cancer cells. The adhesion between Luteinizing
Hormone Releasing Hormone (LHRH) and breast cancer cells is studied using an atomic force
microscopy (AFM) technique. The adhesion force between LHRH coated AFM tips and MDA MB
231 breast cancer cells is shown to be about twice that between bare/uncoated AFM tips and breast
cancer cells, while the adhesion force between LHRH MNP coated AFM tips is also approximately
twice as much as that between MNP coated AFM tips and breast cancer cells. The increased adhesion
of the LHRH coated tips suggests that LHRH can be used as a molecular recognition unit for ... Show

It is also the leading cause of cancer death in women aged from 20 to 59 years old [1]. These alarming
statistics arise from the fact that there are limitations in both current detection and treatment methods
[2 5]. Advancements are, therefore, needed in early detection, to increase survival rates and improve
clinical outcomes [6]. In addition, localized treatments are needed to overcome the side effects that are
associated with current breast cancer therapies [7]. One of the specific targeting receptors for human
breast cancer cells is Luteinizing Hormone Releasing Hormone (LHRH). Approximately 52% of
human breast cancers express binding sites for LHRH receptors [8]. With LHRH coated magnetite
nanoparticles, studies have shown that the specific interaction between LHRH receptors and its
ligands can be used for the targeting of breast cancer cells. This can be use to enhance the early
detection of breast cancer and its metastasis [6, 9, 10]. Furthermore, the specific receptor ligand
interaction between LHRH and LHRH receptors can be used to facilitate the attachment of LHRH
conjugated magnetite nanoparticles to breast cancer cells. This can be used as a contrast agent to
enhance the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of breast tumor sites and their metastases [6, 11].

Liberalisation Of Immigration Policies In Canada Essay
This focus of this article is on the liberalisation of immigration policies in Canada and the US post
WWII. Triadafilopoulos (2010, 169) makes an argument that liberalisation of immigration policies
were driven by shifting norms in concern to race, ethnicity, and human rights. Canada s commitment
as part of its membership to the UN entailed an unqualified obligation in eradicating racial
discrimination and promoting human rights but this conflicted with its domestic practice
(Triadafilopoulas, 2010, 178). Canada s vision was to preserve its white European composition, which
meant discouraging those who do not fit in this vision (Triadafilopolous, 2010, 178). Critics used the
shift in normative context to challenge discriminatory policies. ... Show more content on

Lizzie Borden Investigation
The research paper I am conducting is on Lizzie Borden who was accused of murdering her father and
stepmother in 1892 with a hatchet. Due to failed investigation and lack of technology at the time,
Lizzie was released and acquitted of all charges. In this paper I will point out what the police did not
do properly during the investigation, as well as what I would have done differently. Lizzie Borden s
story had red flags that police and investigation should have caught on to. The first being, that when
police interviewed Lizzie about what had happened that day she gave inconsistent stories. Second
being, that she said I heard a groan or a scraping noise before entering the house . Later she changed

Andrew Borden estate was worth $300,000 dollars, which as of 2016 would be $7,901,111. This was a
lot of money during the late 1800 s. Lizzie was reported to have arguments with her father regarding a
property settlement over the divorce between Andrew and Mrs. Borden. If the investigation was in my
hands, I would have thoroughly questioned Lizzie, and requested a full physiological evaluation. I
would have also tried to submit the hatchet into evidence, proving that the split in the skull could
match that of a hatchet. The repetitive Hatchet blows to the back of Abby Borden s head shows it was
killing out of rage. The only person to have shown signs of animosity towards these individuals was
Lizzie Borden. The dispute over property of a wealthy man as Andrew Borden, the dislike people had
for him, the divorce Lizzie went through, and her father killing her pet birds leads me to believe there
was a motive. The double murder of Andrew and Abby Borden still remains unsolved. The police
could have done a better job investigating and the evidence showing Lizzie being linked should have
been enough to charge her but this is a period of time when forensics was at its infancy and if there
was no weapon there was no crime. The money involved could have brought rise to Lizzie to plot the

A Coat Of Arms
Historically, the profession of nursing has been viewed as an inferior occupation, one that holds a
lower status when compared to other medical professions (Thupayagale Dithole, 2005, pg. 1).
Contrastingly, nursing is one of the most vital careers within the health care system, with continuous
demands for their services (Burhans, 2008, pg.2). Generally, a poor perception and understanding of
this profession exists which prevents nurses from being properly recognized for their crucial role
within society (Thupayagale Dithole, 2005, pg.2). Ultimately, four symbols will be discussed in this
essay deprived from the creation of a coat of arms. They will serve to acknowledge nurses as more
than providers of care and comfort, but as truly valuable medical professionals in their own right. The
first symbol chosen to embody nursing is waves which characterize the quality of upstream thinking.
Their constant movement is representative of either an upstream or downstream thinking approach,
depending on the individual s perspective. This quality depicts how nurses advocate, focusing their
practice at an individual level, overlooking systematic complications and injustice (Murphy and
Norma, 1993, pg.1). As well, nursing plays an important role in contributing to the improvement of
individual s lives through health promotion and education. This method contrasts that of downstream
thinking, characterized as temporarily fixing a problem (Murphy and Norma, 1993, pg.6). For

In every 45 seconds, someone is sexually violated in the United States. Out of every 6 women, one has
experienced an attempted rape or complete rape. Lesbians and bisexual women remain at increased
risk of sexual victimization compared to heterosexual women. In order for a woman to determine the
direction of her life, she must first determine her sexuality. Sexuality is a deep, integral part of any
human s life. This should not be a subject of coercion or debate. The society must recognize that a
woman has the right to freely pre determine her sexuality without oppression and discrimination
(Burn, 2004). Traditionally, women throughout history and culture have undertaken the role of

If violence was to take place between two intimate women in a lesbian relationship, the violence
would seem to be nothing more than a cat fight. It would not be surprising for the majority to ask what
harm could really be done by two women. The violence that exists between women in a lesbian
relationship is in deliberate opposition to the traditional female/feminine gender role stereotype deeply
entrenched in the society. This stereotype combined with the belief that women are naturally weak and
lack stature and strength to inflict any serious harm to each other calls for the dismissal of any serious
violence between two intimate women (Walters, 2011). Currently, there is a consensus in statistics
regarding the rate of lesbian intimate partner violence. However, it is thought that the occurrence of
lesbian intimate partner violence is comparable to the heterosexual domestic violence rates. Studies
conducted in the past indicated that between 41 percent and 68 percent of all lesbians have at one

Hmong is a Miao Yiao language spoken primarily in Southern China, Thailand and Laos. According to
Ethnologue.com, there are over 5.7 million people who speak the language all around the world. Over
95,000 Hmong people have settled in the United States. Hmong is monosyllabic and tonal language.
This means that it consists primarily of one syllable words where the tone of a word affects the
meaning. The Hmong dialect is branched from the Chuanqiandian dialect into two separate ones;
known as Njua green and Daw white. Hmong is closely related to the Miao language spoken in
Southern China. However, it is not too known because various people living in these areas gradually
adopted phrases and words from other cultures, to produce a whole new way of speaking.

True North is a superb example of a leadership book that equips people with the principles, and
necessary skills, to become more authentic and proficient leaders. This book also helps the reader

Examples Of Fair Business Practices
Fair Business Practices
In the United States, several laws were established to keep businesses operating fairly and
competitively in every market. With businesses willing to do just about anything to gain the
competitive edge, antitrust laws were set into place to prevent to keep a companies from being
dishonest while trying to obtain new clientele. Being a small business is tough trying to compete with
larger companies, such laws protect them from market allocation, bid rigging, and price fixing.
Coming to an agreement to not operate in the same space as another company, dividing area to benefit
each other is illegal. Being a large company, practicing this method allows the two companies to set
prices where smaller businesses cannot compete and eventually going out of business. A Boston food
retailer accused C S Grocers Inc. and Supervalu Inc., two of the largest U.S. grocery wholesalers of
such practices in 2009. Allegations include that the two wholesalers conspired to inflate prices and not

volume for every major vitamin sold for human and animal consumption (U.S. Dept. of Justice, 2003).

People: A Menace to the Mojave When one think of what can be dangerous, or hostile towards a

Eye level When you re standing up and shooting an animal on the ground, your angle of view is
pointing downwards. This detracts from the photo, making the perspective seem strange. It also
decreases the distance between the subject and the background, getting rid of your chance for that
nice, soft bokeh (background). Instead, get onto eye level with your subject. It brings the viewer down
onto the animal s level, creating a much more interesting perspective. It will most likely increase the

Globalisation can be defined as the worldwide movement toward economic, financial, trade and
communications integration . (Business Dictionary. (2017). The definition then goes onto discuss the
interconnectedness and interdependent of a society that allows a free transaction of capital and goods
and services through the opening of boarders and uninterrupted movement of labour. (Business
Dictionary. (2017). Globalisation can be seen in all aspects of a modern society and in the day to day
life of individuals, for example, with the advancement of technology we have seen an increase of
global communication with the use of the internet to allow people to connect and understand different
backgrounds and culture. This essay will primarily focus on the way in which globalisation can affect
and make an impact on the economies of small community s and what the effects it has on the
economy on a global scale.
Globalisation can be argued to be the way of the future, the way to connect countries, cultures and
individuals. It is argued that the benefits encourage a less developed country to join in the path of
globalisation is that in theory it is meant to allow for the free movement of labour, this being
beneficial to a country that may be experiencing labour shortages. This can be seen to be effective in

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Frozen Dough
It has been believed from ages that there is no substitute for fresh baked product. However the current
trend in the baking industry is to use frozen dough to manufacture quality product because it can be
quickly transformed into fresh baked product. Main advantages of freezing of dough are reduction of
losses caused by aging of products and harmonization of product with the market demands (Dodic et

and loss of stability over long term frozen storage (Inoue and Bushuk, 1991; Berglund 1988). All this
results in prolonged final fermentation time, lower loaf volume, and poor bread characteristics (shape

Agar forms the strongest and most stable gels at lowest concentration. Agar gels are transparent and
reversible upon heating and cooling. Therefore agar finds several uses in stabilizing food products.
Carrageenans are also sulphated galactans from seaweed extracts. These are both gel forming and non
gel forming carageenan fractions. Both form stable complexes with proteins and other gums.
Carrageenan are especially useful in dairy products because they form stabilizing complexes with milk
proteins and suspended cocoa powder in milk and give a more acceptable texture to processed cheese
and cream.
Some microbial gums also find use in foods. Two important ones are dextrans and xanthan gums.
Dextran is a polysaccharides consisting of D glucose units. Dextrans of molecular weight below
100,000 are readily soluble in water and are used in many food products. Xanthans are formed by the
action of bacterium Xanthomonas compestris on D glucose. The gum contains D glucose, D mannose
and D galacturonic acid and has a high molecular weight. It is dissolved in cold water and finds use in
food as a stabilizer, emulisifier, thickener, suspending agent, bodying and foam enhancer (Whistler
and Bemiller, 1972). Gums are widely used in baked goods to enhance dough handling properties, to
increase overall quality of the fresh products and to extend shelf life of stored goods. Different
hydrocolloids had been proved beneficial (sodium alginate,

  • 2. Essay On Cell Phone Distraction Running Head:CELL PHONE DISTRACTION 3 Cell Phone Distractions Cell phones and technology in general has advanced a lot over the last ten years. Allowing students to be able to take their phones or devices wherever they want in today s society. Thus bringing forward the issue of cell phone distraction in the classroom. Concerns about cell phones in the classrooms are also grounded in what we know about teenage brains, including the inability to concentrate while multi tasking and possibly long term effects on overall health (12) Multitasking is hard enough and if teens are doing this in the classroom that means that kids are not learning enough while staring at their phones while the teacher is teaching. Having said this a study from Pew research center stated that 78 percent of teens check their devices hourly , this is insane. If that is true that means on average a student will at least look at her/his device once per class period. As being a student in high school i find this to be very true. Another study from Pew Research center stated that 50% of teens 13 18 feel addicted to their phones , this means that means separating from their phones will be tough. The reason i am writing about this topic is to inform people about this epidemic and i am stating why this needs to be fixed. Unlike other technologies there is something very specific about smartphones it represents life, entertainment, social Running Head:CELL PHONE DISTRACTION 4 media, and gaming (12) the reason for this is because of apps such as Netflix, Hulu, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and gaming apps. Phones being allowed in the classroom are tempting for students. Students feel a vibration in their pockets and feel the need to check their phones. Apps for example snapchat will flash the camera light when the student receives a snap from someone. A research from Pew Research center asked a teacher what her thoughts were on the issue. It s just too tempting for a student. Once that phone is brought out, most can t resist texting a friend or begin playing a game. (12) Schools are allowing this epidemic to spread by ... • 3. The Bloody Root Of Titus Andronicus The Bloody Root of Titus Andronicus: An Argument of Intent and Origin There are have been many arguments throughout the history of Shakespearean academia regarding the validity of Shakespeare s authorship to Titus Andronicus, and the critics have not been shy to express their discontent of its seemingly endless violent montage. As Michael Fentiman and Harold Fuller point out of what Dr. Samuel Johnson spoke to in 1765, all the editors and critics agree in supposing this play spurious...for the colour of style is wholly different from that of the other plays, the barbarity of the spectacles and the general massacre which are here exhibited can scarcely be tolerable...That Shakespeare wrote any part...I see no reason in believing (Fentiman). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Virtually, all the central characters killed each other off in a downward spiral of luscious revenge (Shakespeare). It is striking in its contrast to the likes of Romeo and Juliet or Hamlet or Macbeth to where Shakespeare dove deep into the emotions and psyche of human life (RedEyesTakeWarning). Violence and death were not foreign concepts to the people of the Elizabethan era, as medieval life was chocked full of war, famine, and plague. In the case of entertainment, violence and death were no strangers as people would flock to see bear baiting, including Queen Elizabeth. (Mabillard). Allistair Brown claims that we take entertainment out of simulated violence because it is cathartic (Brown). Brown also argues that, Violence becomes comic because laughter, denying the reality or seriousness of whatever threatens, is a way of dealing with trauma (Brown). With the world being consumed with death at every doorstep, what is so far fetched at the notion that Titus Andronicus is an extremely dark comedy to help a broken soul cope with the grim reality of medieval life? As there is almost nothing else for society to take away as a benefit from the play (RedEyesTakeWarning), what else could it be? There are already plenty of examples in literature that deliver morals and lessons learned from seeking revenge. Why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Comparison of Homer and Virgil’s Tragic Hero Comparison of Homer and Virgil s Tragic Hero Homer, an ancient Greek epic poet, influenced many writers in the ancient Greek and Roman culture, particularly Virgil. Virgil, most famous for his epic poem The Aeneid demonstrates Homer s influence through similar characters, mythology, and ideals. Homer in both his most famous works the Iliad and The Odyssey weaves poetry based on centuries worth of oral stories handed down and uses a sophisticated style of writing that is still recognized today. Although the tragic hero is defined slightly differently in modern text than ancient Greek and Roman works, Aristotle defined a tragic hero in his work Poetics as the character between these two extremes, that of a man who is not eminently good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Homer used pride as the tragic flaw that Achilles learned to overcome, whereas Virgil used a sense of duty as Aeneas s tragic flaw. Homer portrayed Achilles as arrogant because he allowed his men to fight a battle he knew they could not win without him. Achilles asked his mother for Zeus to favor the Trojans so that he could regain the honor that he felt Agamemnon stripped away. Aeneas s tragic flaw unlike Achilles was his sense of duty, which in turn he encountered pitfalls during his escape from Troy. Achilles battled for personal glory and his own honor as a warrior whereas Aeneas spent his time attempting to fulfill his mission, which forced him to invade and conquer, a duty given to him by the gods. Virgil unites and conjoins all the virtues in the formation of his hero: He gives him religion towards the gods, piety towards his country, tenderness and friendship towards his relations, and equity and justice towards all (Rapin). On the contrary, Homer magnified the tragic flaw in Achilles, which cost him his sanity because he became obsessive with revenge. Although Aeneas s flaw appears minor in comparison to Achilles, it led him to be an instrument of gods, which in turn destroyed innocent lives. Mercury appeared to Aeneas to remind him of his mission and told him, Oblivious of your own world, your own kingdom...He [Zeus] and no other sent me to you...Think of the ... The Dangers Of Cockfighting In Bali When one thinks of Bali, one will most possibly envision the white sand beaches, clear blue skies, calming water and the huge number of Western tourists there. Chances that one will jump into the idea of cockfighting in Bali villages would probably be very low. Cockfighting plays a pivotal role in the life of numerous Balinese men. As Geertz (2005), an American anthropologist suggested, cockfighting is considered as a part of The Balinese Way of Life . A cockfight, in a straightforward explanation, means a fight between two roosters in a caged ring until one of them dies for the amusement of spectators (PETA, n.d.). However, to Balinese men, it means so much more than this it is an obsession that has been passed down through generations. Every year in Bali, there will be legal large scale cockfights in almost every village of Bali. This precedes the renowned public holiday in Bali called Nyepi, where people in Bali are not allowed to go out of their houses and even have to turn off the lights when they are indoors. This is done in order to avoid contacts with influx of demons that are chased out of hell for an instant moment (Geertz, 2005). • 7. Conflict In The Kite Runner Middle Eastern Literature The way of life in Afghanistan is very different from life in America. The conflicts, transformations, and aspects of human condition from the excerpts of The Kite Runner as well as the articles and poems discussed in class provide a deeper understanding of what life is really like in the Middle East. A conflict in literature is defined as any struggle between two opposing forces. The Kite Runner is filled with both internal and external conflicts that gives the reader insight into the main character, Amir s, life and thought processes. The first prevalent internal conflict is Amir s mother s death during his birth and his battle with the way [he] ached for the mother [he] had never met. This ache affected him psychologically as he struggled to cope with her loss his whole life, well as affected the relationship he has with his father, who he calls Baba. The second internal conflict is that Amir feels like he cannot relate to Baba and that he and his father are very different minded people. The first example of Amir feeling unconnected from Baba is when he was young and Baba would shut him out of the smoking room during grown ups time and Amir would sit there for an hour, sometimes two, listening to their laughter, their chatter. This lead Amir to wonder why it was always grown ups time with him. The first time we see that these two are different minded is when the bus is stopped at the checkpoint in Mahipar and the Russian soldier wants ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are normally fine for the first 45 minutes and show no signs of fatigue, but by the end of the hour it is always evident that they are tired and would like to end the visit. On the sessions where they don t have the fourth years visit, or have not had another session before us, their communication ability is consistent. Societal Breakdown On The Island Societal breakdown on the island in Lord of the Flies is due to the inherent evil of man 3.8: Develop an informed understanding of literature and/or language using critical texts. Hypothesis: Societal breakdown on the island is due to the inherent evil of man Jason Carvalho Lord of the Flies is the name of William Golding s historically famous novel, yet it is more than just a title. It is a kind of statement, a way of mocking the very existences of humanity. Reading this book I came to a very profound and troubling conclusion that I struggle to accept: Societal breakdown on the island is due to the inherent evil of man. I believe that the lack of societal influence is the cause of the breakdown on the island, and not the inherent evil of man. Studying this further I found the novel rather pessimistic and opinionated, to which I undertook additional research. My analysis of a range of critical evaluations, turned up a profound number of contrasting views and opinion, of some which partly aligned with my hypothesis and others with my viewpoint. However what is clear is that with time the critics views changed, with more aligned, with my view point, that man is not inherently evil. During this analysis I will make reference to the author William Golding in addition the work of critics, Bernard F. Dick (1987), John F. Fitzgerald John R. Kayser (1992) and Kathleen Woodward (1997), to deliver a compressive, in depth analysis into the cause of societal breakdown on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Euthanasia Often Surfaces In Mainstream News As Being A Euthanasia often surfaces in mainstream news as being a highly controversial issue, with strong arguments for both positions. To be clear, euthanasia can be defined as the following, Intentionally taking the life of a presumably hopeless person (Gay Williams, 781). There are also several other distinctions that classify euthanasia as either active or passive, based on the level of action involved, or as voluntary, involuntary, or non voluntary, based on the level of consent (Dittmer). However, in this paper, when I use the term euthanasia, I am speaking of euthanasia in any of its forms. Thus, I will argue that all forms of euthanasia are morally impermissible. Lastly, I will assess an objection to my argument, but in the end show that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second premise is true, because given the definition of euthanasia, no one is being saved by the act, but only the opposite, someone is being killed. For an action to be considered euthanasia, three conditions must be met: there must be the taking of a life, the person whose life is taken must be suffering from a disease with a terminal prognosis, and the action must be intentional (Gay Williams, 781). Accordingly, it is evident that there is no aspect of self defense in this case, and no one s life is being saved in the process of euthanasia. Therefore, it is true that euthanasia is an action that involves the taking of someone s life, without the saving of another s life. Therefore, given the preceding reasons for the truth of the premises, and the valid argument form, modus ponens, the argument against euthanasia is sound. In defense of the premises, I utilized the moral theory of natural law. For this theory, an action is judged to be moral or immoral based on it being in accord with the natural law or not. This natural law is built into our very nature as human beings, so an action is moral if it is consistent with our nature. I used this moral theory to show that the desire to survive is a part of our natural law, and thus euthanasia is against our natural law as human beings. One might object to my argument by way of utilitarian reasoning. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition, localized treatments are needed to overcome the side effects that are associated with current breast cancer therapies [7]. Triadafilopoulos (2010, 169) makes an argument that liberalisation of immigration policies were driven by shifting norms in concern to race, ethnicity, and human rights. Canada s commitment as part of its membership to the UN entailed an unqualified obligation in eradicating racial discrimination and promoting human rights but this conflicted with its domestic practice (Triadafilopoulas, 2010, 178). A Coat Of Arms Historically, the profession of nursing has been viewed as an inferior occupation, one that holds a lower status when compared to other medical professions (Thupayagale Dithole, 2005, pg. 1). Contrastingly, nursing is one of the most vital careers within the health care system, with continuous demands for their services (Burhans, 2008, pg.2). Generally, a poor perception and understanding of this profession exists which prevents nurses from being properly recognized for their crucial role within society (Thupayagale Dithole, 2005, pg.2). Ultimately, four symbols will be discussed in this essay deprived from the creation of a coat of arms. They will serve to acknowledge nurses as more than providers of care and comfort, but as truly valuable medical professionals in their own right. The first symbol chosen to embody nursing is waves which characterize the quality of upstream thinking. Their constant movement is representative of either an upstream or downstream thinking approach, depending on the individual s perspective. This quality depicts how nurses advocate, focusing their practice at an individual level, overlooking systematic complications and injustice (Murphy and Norma, 1993, pg.1). Shoot on Eye level When you re standing up and shooting an animal on the ground, your angle of view is pointing downwards. This detracts from the photo, making the perspective seem strange. It also decreases the distance between the subject and the background, getting rid of your chance for that nice, soft bokeh (background). Instead, get onto eye level with your subject. It brings the viewer down onto the animal s level, creating a much more interesting perspective. It will most likely increase the distance between the subject and the background too, removing distracting elements by throwing the backdrop out of focus. 2. Learn About Your Subject Getting to know the animal you re photographing can be a really helpful trick. If you know about an animal s typical behavioural traits, then you will be able to predict movements or particular things you can focus on capturing. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
