Inequality And Oppression
The aim of this essay is to address the problem of inequality and oppression through three separate
texts, The Second Sex, The Death of the Profane and Killing Rage. The Second Sex focuses on the
woman and her role compared to man. The Death of the Profane and Killing Rage are both texts that
describe experiences about the constant racism felt by blacks. To thoroughly examine these texts and
how they are related to oppression and inequality it is important to first define what each mean.
Oppression and inequality each have different definitions but they go hand in hand. Oppression is the
state of being subject to prolonged unjust treatment. While inequality is defined as lacking equality,
equality is the state of being equal especially in status, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Simone de Beauvoir focuses on women and their permanent otherness, women will always be this
other . They are never the subject or absolute like man is. This constant oppression of women is
different of others, women are not a minority, they are numerically almost equal to man and yet man
has still been able to create dominance over them. Man is the superior, they are the absolute and
women are the other. Oppositely, bell hooks and Patricia Williams speak on the inequality of
minorities, specifically blacks. Racism and killing rage are heavily connected. Racism is strong and
deep; it is the phantom in the room. Killing rage is a rage that is felt after constant unjust treatment, it
is a rage that is healing. This killing rage should be viewed as a passion for freedom. I think a passion
for freedom should be the forefront change. This passion for freedom can be connected to each author.
A passion for freedom can aid in changing the permanent otherness women have faced and continue to
face. Otherness is expressed through inequalities in pay and the way women are viewed. Simone de
Beauvoir s text brought up important and relevant inequalities women and minorities face. Patricia
Williams text focusing on the inequality blacks face is relevant and important. Again a passion for
freedom from oppression and inequality should be expressed. By Patricia Williams continually

Theory Z
Theory Z
Theory Z is a name applied to three distinctly different psychological theories. One was developed by
Abraham H. Maslow in his paper Theory Z and the other is Dr. William Ouchi s so called Japanese
Management style popularized during the Asian economic boom of the 1980s. The third was
developed by W. J. Reddin in Managerial Effectiveness (19 Situation guides) man: * Reason
motivates him. * Interdependence is man s primary mode of discourse. * Interaction is man s social
unit of importance.
Objective best and succinctly describes man s concept of man.

The word Wa in Japanese can be applied to Theory Z because they both deal with promoting
partnerships and group work. The word Wa means a perfect circle or harmony, which influences
Japanese society to always be in teams and to come to a solution together. Promoting Theory Z and
the Japanese word Wa is how the Japanese economy became so powerful. And also because the
Japanese show a high level enthusiasm to work, some of the researchers claim that Z in the theory Z
stands for Zeal .
Ouchi wrote a book called Theory Z How American Business Can Meet the Japanese Challenge
(1981), in this book; Ouchi shows how American corporations can meet the Japanese challenges with
a highly effective management style that promises to transform business in the 1980 s. The secret to
Japanese success, according to Ouchi, is not technology, but a special way of managing people. This is
a managing style that focuses on a strong company philosophy, a distinct corporate culture, long range
staff development, and consensus decision making (Ouchi, 1981). Ouchi shows that the results show
lower turn over, increased job commitment, and dramatically higher productivity.
William Ouchi doesn t say that the Japanese culture for business is necessarily the best strategy for the
American companies but he takes Japanese business techniques and adapts them to the American
corporate environment. Much like McGregor s theories, Ouchi s Theory Z makes certain assumptions

Drug Testing Professions
In many professions, drug testing is the norm. When a company hires an employee, they may be
required to be drug tested (Deschenaux, 2015). Throughout the duration of the employment term, drug
testing may be required, rather this is a surprise test or not. It would be my opinion that drug testing,
for the most part, be used.
In many professions, such as hospital, school, or military settings drug testing is mandatory. After all
would an individual like to know that their doctor, nurse, child s teacher is under the influence of a
drug? I personally would not be happy. While some professions may not need drug testing, it would be
improbable to ban drug testing while still enforcing it for these above fields. For example, the military

Would this be the hospital s fault? Or would it be the individual doctor s fault? Many would say both,
however if the doctor was never required to take a drug test, then both parties should be held
accountable. Drug testing should be used a means to ensure that all those impacted, including those
required to take the test, understand that their primary concern is those individuals they serve. Even
construction workers serve people, they must ensure the work they do is safe for those who may use
whatever is being built. While drug tests may not save lives directly, they have the ability to have an
indirect impact if

Why Canada Is An Astounding Nation
People in the United States joke a lot about Canadians, which makes sense since Canada can be very
strange. Canada never declared independence. Justin Bieber is from Canada. Canada s military is non
existent. They give out the Juno award. Their accents sound kind of silly, eh? Canada could improve a
couple things, but Canada, however, possesses many admirable qualities, some that others praise them
for, and others that outsiders do not notice. I, personally, have to come to admire Canada for 3 reasons,
which I try to emulate. My scarlet letter honors these efforts. I think Canada is an astounding nation
because their global influence lies largely below the radar, their government remains at peace with
virtually everyone, and the Canadian people are generally known for their genuine kindness and care
for others. Canada benefits economically and politically because many countries don t take them
seriously as a world power. Foreign nations are not alarmed when Canada adds its name late to treaties
and economic policies late in a process. Despite this, Canadian decisions play a major role on the
world stage, as they did in 1923 s Chanak crisis, where they kept Britain from intervening in wars in
the former Ottoman Empire simply by refusing to help. Although I would like to be respected in my
lifetime, being underestimated by the common people could benefit me in many ways. If there was
someone who stepped out to lead a group that was simply not a good leader, I could quietly

OBJECTIVES
In this assignment I will review the accounting software appropriate to the outlined hypothetical
company. On the one hand, I will consider advantages and disadvantages of the software which are
relevant to the proper management of the company. On the other hand I will demonstrate the relevant
connection of the accounting software to the financial management of the company.

Sales management is connected with purchasing management and inventory control to provide better
analysis of the data. The software supports controls of purchasing materials, orders, goods receipt and
payment.
INVENTORY CONTROL (IC)
The inventory control in Emfibia Limited is another important area. The company has to have
organised importation by having large numbers of inventory. Therefore, the company can start losing
the capital. This is why they require appropriate analysis with stock valuation and the movement of
the goods. Sage ERP X3 runs on similar principles to manual ones, but this software is more flexible
and it is possible to receive the information in real time. Inventory Control is closely connected with
the manufacturing management. The software uses Kanban method of Just in Time production. The
information can be grouped by cost centres, price lists. The important tool is to forecast the future
cost. When the company will prepare new production in six months time, the software can analyze the
actual cost of the production.
HUMAN RESOURCES (HR)
When company has 240 employees it needs an efficient HR Management. Emfibia Limited provides a
variety of salaries, contracts and benefits for the employees. Sage has all the important covered with
applications necessary for Personnel Management, Benefit Management, Payroll Management,

Referencing What is referencing? Referencing is acknowledging all of the material (books, articles,
electronic resources collectively known as your sources) that you have used in writing your
assignment. Because this is other people s work / ideas, you need to acknowledge their influence and
ideas within your work. Why bother? or Reasons for referencing Referencing is an academic
requirement. It is unethical (and can be illegal) to pass off the intellectual property of others as your
own. This is called plagiarism. Plagiarism is regarded as a very serious offence (see your programme s
Student Handbook). Learning to reference correctly is your best protection against charges of

referenced as: Attachment is the special emotional bond that we feel for those who we are very close

(2004) describes attachment as the special emotional bond that we feel for those who we are very
close to. Those that we like being with and turn to in times of need. Spot the difference? The important
thing is that both the author and then the date are included. While the date is always in brackets, the
author may be inside or outside the brackets, but should always be adjacent to the date. If the authors
surname is in the brackets then remember the comma between it and the date. You choose which
(inside or outside brackets), depending on whichever reads better in your assignment. How about
when there are multiple authors? It s not too hard. The exact rules are found in the APA manual in
section 3.95, starting on page 208. For two authors you always include them both. Outside the
brackets you use the word and between the surnames, while inside the brackets you use an ampersand
symbol . From the book: Dew, K., Kirkman, A. (2002). Sociology of health in New Zealand. Victoria,

Marcus Brutus In The Tragedy Of Julius Caesar
Marcus Junius Brutus was one of the protagonists in The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. He is best known
for assisting in the assassination of Julius Caesar but he was also a husband, friend, influential public
figure, and an honorable military leader. Brutus, son of Marcus Junius Brutus Maior and Servilia, was
born in Rome in 85 BC and was raised by his uncle, Servilius Caepio. He started his political career
being Cato s assistant and during this time he made money by loaning to desperate people and then
charging them high interest rates. After his active career life in Cilicia, he returned to Rome where he
met and married Claudia Pulchra. Once welcomed into the Senate, Brutus aligned with the Optimates

Brutus realized the threat that his friend Caesar was becoming and accepted the invitation to join the
conspirators. The conspirators met in secret and plotted on how to kill Caesar, finally reaching the
conclusion to attack Caesar on the Ides of March at the Theater of Pompey during a session of the
senate. The day arrived and Brutus and the conspirators made their way to the meeting. Many bad
omens accompanied Caesar on his way to the Senate meeting such as a Caesar s wife dreaming of
Caesar bleeding to death and trying to persuade him not to attend the Senate meeting, Spurinna
warning Caesar to beware dangers, and even Caesar himself being ill the day of the meeting. All of
these hindrances delayed Caesar s arrival and worried the conspirators yet Brutus insisted that they
remain vigilant. Caesar finally arrived and took his seat and it was not long after that the attack
ensued. Daggers flew through the air and into Caesar. After many additional stabbings by many of the
conspirators, Caesar lay dead at the conspirators feet. An amnesty, proposed by Mark Antony, was
then passed to pardon the assassins of the political offense; however, the city itself was opposed to the
passing of this amnesty because many of the citizens adored Caesar. As a result, Brutus and his fellow
conspirators fled from

A Black Man Talks Of Reaping By Countee Cullen
Alienation of Individuals
Many individuals are often alienated from society. One of many causes can be the racism of African
Americans. The alienation caused by racism can affect individuals and society. Due to their race, they
were discriminated and led to racial inequality. This can all be depicted in Incident by Countee Cullen,
A Black Man Talks of Reaping by Arna Bontemps, and We Wear the Mask by Paul Laurence Dunbar.
In Incident , a young African American is called a racial slur because of her physical appearance. Also,
A Black Man Talks of Reaping , describes how a black man is discriminated and face racial inequality.
Lastly, in We Wear the Mask shows how blacks had to hide their true identity because they were
colored and did not fit in society. In all three text of Cullen, Bontemps, and Dunbar all show how
racism can make an individual feel alienated. In the poem, Incident by Countee Cullen , he looks back
at a moment of his life that he encounters racism. Racism causes individuals to become alienated. He
was a young Baltimorean and sees a boy staring at him. He says, I was eight and very small, / And he
was no whit bigger, / And so I smiled, but he poked out/ His tongue and called me, Nigger . (Cullen 5
18)To explain, he uses imagery to show he was called a racial slur just because of his appearance. This
is also important because this demonstrates how racism can start at a young age, he was no whit
bigger than him when he was eight.

Examples Of Loyalty In Hachiko
Friendship and Loyalty
People can t live alone. As social being, people always need someone to consider as their friend. Aside
from human, most people prefer dogs, cats, rabbits, or others as their bestfriend. These are social
creatures that accompany people to play, exercise, and perform any other activities together.
To pet owners, dogs provided physical health through exercise motivation; comfort and
companionship; an avenue for dog owners meet new friends, support and love as family members; a
listening ear as therapists, and a feeling of protection and safety when out walking (Knight Edwards
2008).

Usually, family members communicate with each other, and having similar communication with pets
is part of viewing them as family. Pets respond through vocalizations and gestures, which are
understood by their owners, sometimes in special ways. Some people prefer the intimate
communication they share with their pet over conversations with humans.
There are different levels of affection and respect that people have for their pets, but the term family
members is used quite often. Cohen (2002) explores this trend in three different ways: (a) Pets are like
human family; (b) pets are part of a broader social network system but not family; (c) pets are family
members only in a linguistically playful way. (621).
Whether people joke about their pets as children or not, the idea of companion animals as specific kin
or generic family members is becoming much more accepted in western cultural systems, and we have
to pay much more attention to it. If we do not recognize the intense emotional bonds people have with
animals, we risk damaging both the human and the pet s well being when they are forced to separate
for various reasons (housing, illness, family disputes). Beyond psychological issues, if we discount or
ignore the importance of pets in the kinship network in anthropological studies, we risk missing out on
a rich area of human relations, which will enrich the field of cultural

Process Of Negotiation Analysis
Per Text Fee Verses a Resource Fee Usually when an institution moves towards adopting eBooks, a
single publisher provides the institution with all of the materials and eBooks (Ye, 2015). Moving to a
resource fee rather than a fee for each textbook, the resource fee would make the students have to by
an electronic textbook without an option to purchase a printed textbook (Ye, 2015).
Process of Negotiation
When negotiating with publishers, there are several topics that must be addressed. When it comes to
price negotiation, asking for a price is a signal to the publisher that the item is going to be purchased,
and the value of the product cannot be determined from the price (Dunie, 2015). Instead, the
institution should ask the publisher to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the institution wants to have a third party to place the content on a platform of the institution s
choice and manage the content, the institution may not be able to do this under the license with the
publisher (Dunie, 2015). Often times, the publisher will have restrictions on the technology in order to
have a continuous connection with the institution, so the institution needs to ask if they are able to use
a third party or ask if they can have the source code (Dunie, 2015).
Often times, the university bookstore is a third party vendor, and during negotiations, there are items
that need to be discussed. In contract negotiations, there needs to be information that includes
electronic material (Raible deNoyelles, 2015). Since the definition of electronic material is constantly
changing, it is recommended that the terminology used for referencing electronic material in contracts
is digital material so that it can include all types of material and not just eBooks (Raible deNoyelles,
2015, p. 8). The negotiations need to also include the time frame for students to access an eBook,
refund policies, and format availability for the eBook, and it also needs to include how much the
bookstore can markup the price for the eBook (Raible deNoyelles, 2015).
Impact on the Institution s Finances
In order to convert to eBooks, the impact on the institution s financial bottom line could be significant.

The New Right Essay
Starting during the 1970s, factions of American conservatives slowly came together to form a new and
more radical dissenting conservative movement, the New Right. The New Right was just as radical as
its liberal opposite, with agendas to increase government involvement beyond the established
conservative view of government s role. Although New Right politicians made admirable advances to
dissemble New Deal economic policies, the movement as a whole counters conservativism and the
ideologies that America was founded on. Although the New Right adopts conservative economic
ideologies, its social agenda weakened the conservative movement by focusing public attention to
social and cultural issues that have no place within the established Old ... Show more content on

George Gilder stays true to Old Right s pure market position in his book Wealth and Poverty, where he
promoted uncurbed capitalism and pure free enterprise. He rejected all forms of welfare and
redistribution, arguing that current welfare and other subsidy programs substantially reduce work and
incurs bitter resistance of the real working class . Gilder strayed from establishment ideology when he
added a moral element to his position, citing monogamous heterosexual marriage as a requirement for
upward mobility. Gilder is an example of how New Right intellectuals borrowed Old Right economic
theory and then tainted it by adding elements of morality and traditionalism.
The Old Right also found common ground with Reagan s measures to deregulate business, however
many argued that he did not expand the policies enough. Reagan froze new regulations and ordered a
rollback of existing rules to decrease bureaucracy within federal regulation and public services but
failed to dismantle or privatize any federal programs. The push to privatize the Social Security system
is a central example of the New Right failing to fully dismantle New Deal liberalism. Libertarian
intellectual, J.D. Dorn, promoted privatization as a vital measure to keep the system free of political
influences and consistent with the principles of a free society . The Old Right supported Social

Starters vs Relievers Essay
Starting Pitchers vs. Relief Pitchers There are many differences and similarities between relief pitchers
and starting pitchers. There are many different types of relief pitchers that each team has in its bullpen.
While starting pitcher each team usually has about 5 starters that rotate through each game, which
leaves the rest of the game up to the relief pitchers once the starter can no longer go. People do not
normally realize that saying a person is a pitcher is quite a general statement. For example starting
pitchers is defined as the pitcher who delivers the first pitch of the game to the first batter. Even if that
pitcher gets hurt on that pitch he is still the starter. Normally starting pitchers are supposed to go the ...

Once a runner reaches the goal switches to a no hitter if they got on an error or walk. If they got on
with a hit the goal is to get a shutout, which is when the opposing team scores no runs. Also if the
starting pitcher goes all the innings in the game whether it is seven or nine they are rewarded with the
complete game. Normally when a pitcher reaches any of their goals they achieve a win. Starting
pitchers normally have at a minimum three effective pitches. They need pitches to get ahead in the
count on the batter and then a strike out pitch. A strike out pitch is a pitch with a lot of break or
movement and is hard for the batter to pick up and normally ends with freezing the batter or a swing
and miss. A relief pitcher or commonly called a reliever is a pitcher that comes in at any time during
the game after the first pitch of the game is thrown. The starter can be removed for multiple reasons
such as; injury, ineffectiveness, fatigue, ejection, or depending on the batter. There are many types of
relief pitchers for example closers, set up pitchers, middle relief, left handed specialist, long relievers
and mop up relief. Many relief pitchers were starters in the primes of their careers but can no longer
endure the stress given with being a starter. This is because as a relief there is more time for rest
between outings and the pitcher doesn t throw as many pitches in one outing.

The Importance Of Fresh Water Invertebrates
Fresh water invertebrates rely on many things to help them survive in the river and other bodies of
water. The water quality must be the right pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen levels and conductivity
levels in the water for the invertebrates to survive. Fresh water invertebrates are important for the
ecosystem as they feed on mosses on the rocks and provide food for predators to keep the ecosystem
together. Water quality is important because if it is poor then the animals, not only livestock but
domestic pets, will be affected by it because they would drink from the river. Not only do animals
drink from it but water is also extracted from this river for human consumption as drinking water,
therefore if diseases get in to water it can also have consequences on humans as well as animals. (find
evidence) The quality of the water can affect the way in which the ecosystem can change as if the
water quality becomes poor then this can influence not only the invertebrates themselves but those
species that eat these invertebrates (Wren Stephenson, 1991). Therefore, the whole food chain would
be broken as the predators would have nothing to eat so would then they will also start to die. By
monitoring what freshwater invertebrates are in each section of the river, we can check what the water
quality in the water is like as certain invertebrates survive in different conditions (look up what
invertebrates survive better in acid and alkaline water). The area around the river Plym is

N Sott Momaday The Way To The Rainy Mountain Analysis
These lines extracted from N Sott Momaday s The Way to Rainy Mountain aptly depict his conception
of the reader s role within this multi genre text. Literary Texts , as famously articulated by Terry
Eagleton, are code productive, code transgressive as well as code confirming...they may teach us new
ways of reading , not just reinforce the ones with which we come equipped . ( Eagleton, 116).
Reaffirming this analogy, Momaday s The Way to the Rainy Mountain empirically proposes to
transgress old codes, disintegrate decisions, eventually leading to a creation of polyphony within
literature by simultaneously performing eternal happening . Momaday has incessantly stressed upon
his ideology associated with the powerful act of imagination. In an essay entitled Native American
Attitudes to the Environment , he advocates ...we are all....at the most fundamental level what we
imagine ourselves to be..... . ( 80). The same intonation is reiterated in his proverbial lecture entitled
Man made of words where he eloquently elaborates We are what we imagine. Our very existence
consists in our imagination of ourselves . (3). This very notion finds a stance in the prologue of The

Essay On Investment Management Versus Stockbrokers
The investment services industry can be daunting and ambiguous for individuals who seek a return on
their capital. After working hard earning your wealth, it is important to understand the different
services offered by professionals and what solutions fit you personally. One of the main questions we
get asked here is: What is the difference between investment management and stockbrokers? Firstly,
let s discuss what stockbrokers are we all have a much better, clearer, idea of what they do and who
they represent. Stockbrokers are regulated firms that offer financial advice to their clients. A
stockbroker buys and sells equities and other securities like bonds, CFDs, Futures and Options on
behalf of their clients in return for a fee or commission. A brokerage / stockbroker will receive a fee
on each transaction, whether the idea is profitable or not. A brokerage can specialise in any investment
niche they wish for example: FTSE All Share stocks, AIM stocks, European Stocks, Asian Stocks, US
Stocks Combinations of the above Straight equities, Straight derivative trading (CFDs, Futures
Options) The main reason why investors choose stockbrokers over any other professional investment
service is simply down to control. Due to the nature of a brokerage firm, they can only execute a trade
after you instruct them to do so. This means it is impossible for a brokerage to keep buying and selling
securities without you knowing known as churning for commission. This doesn t

Pros And Cons Of Bruichladdich
Bruichladdich is no stranger to No Age Statement whisky. In fact over the past ten or twelve years
they ve probably been one of the most visible proponents of the concept. I think this approach was
first viewed by the distillery as a necessary maneuver in order to get whisky on the shelves throughout
the first decade of production after their 2001 reopening.
Considering how fundamentally opposed I am to the idea of opaque marketing with whisky, I imagine
it s somewhat surprising (even to myself, if I m to be honest) how much I adore and support
Bruichladdich.
Let s face it...no other distillery has done as much to reinvigorate the whisky world over the last few
years as Bruichladdich. They ve pushed hard for higher bottling strengths first 46% as a standard, and
now 50%. They ve foregone artificial colouring. They ve made a mockery of the concept of chill
filtration. Their employment of local labour is staggering, especially viewed in contrast to the two man
crews running some of Diageo s multi million litre producers. Their innovative cask play, phenol

Then as a contra argument Xiu finds the broken piece of the bowl in the train which symbolizes the
broken love as a proof that this love existed, and the final scene of the lake proving that Zhou Yu also
existed. In conclusion, by challenging the notion of existence of such relationship, it is created the
feeling that their love is on the verge between reality and dreams.
Secondly, the story challenges the problem of the changed status of the poets in China. Although they
were highly respected in early Chinese dynasties, poets in the 20th century as part of the Chinese
intelligence, which is not favoured by the Communist party, became highly unpopular in China.
(King, 2004) In the movie for example no one knows who Chen Qing is and although Zhou Yu helps
him to make popular the event, no one comes. Such thing may be consequence of the fact that poetry
was regarded during this time only as an instrument of the political party for propaganda and that
society did not indulged in any kind of art except the traditional and communist. (King, 2004)
Moreover, Chen Qing is not rich, in contrary to the great Confucius who lived richly, he only works in
a small library and lives simple life, judging from his bead and living conditions. Furthermore, poetry
other than propaganda is hard to be published and authors have to invest their own money in order
their book to be printed which is a paradox when in today s societies they live poorly. (King, 2004) In

Nevada Hazards Research Paper
Nevada Hazards
Wendy Gurganus
Coastal Carolina Community College One of the geologic hazards in Nevada is the Mountain ranges.
The reason these are hazards is because most of the ranges in Nevada have a major fault line on either
side of them. Some of these faults have been active within the last 1.6 million years, and have had
large earthquakes. This causes the ranges to tilt and shift and raised the ranges to higher levels. As far
as seismic activity goes, Nevada is the third most active state in the nation. There is an earthquake in
Nevada of a 7 or greater approximately once every thirty years. There are strike slip faults in the
northwest region of the state. The border of California had what is called Walker Lane. This area ...

Especially in the area around the Great Basin, since that covers most of the state. This area is
surrounded by the mountain ranges and gets all the run off . This water helps with the water shortage
throughout the year but at the time it is too much for the area to handle as there is no drainage to the
ocean from this area. Groundwater is used throughout the state. Sometimes, the water is pumped out
faster than it can be replenished. When this happens, the land surface can be affected. There are many
cracks in the ground near Las Vegas, and in some places the land has sunken in over six feet within the
last sixty years. An increase in the population of the state is to blame for the increased demand on the
groundwater and therefore, the increased damage being done to the landscape as a whole. More
people, more water, more land being developed, means less of the natural preservers being available.
Also, with these floods the state sees landslides. The rocks of the area show the different ways the
terrain was built

My New Journey At Kiaria O. Brown Mortuary Inc. Essay
Good morning, today is September 2925 B.C., as I start my morning I m very excited. I m starting my
new journey at Kiaria O. Brown Mortuary Inc., the team and I are set out to travel to Port Said, Egypt
for Queen Nefertiti Ancient Egyptian Funerary. As the team conduct normal procedures before the day
start, I prepare to get the necessary tools to prep the deceased for mummification, the most important
process we have to commence after a person has died. Ms. Nefertiti would be buried in paradise
known as The Field of Reeds, where her soul would be tested. The Field of Reeds is known to the
Egyptians as A aru, which they believed the afterlife of the eternal soul were visions of their mirror
like image. Death to the Egyptians is a celebration, the family members believe her soul is trapped
inside her body, so therefore we must send her to the Gods. The Gods were Anubis, Osiris, Thoth and
The Forty Two Judges. As Queen Nefertiti confess to her negative actions, the high power would
confer. Would the queen heart be lighter than the feather or heavier? Who knows. There s no hell in
the afterlife, your only Great Death is to be thrown to the floor and eaten by the female devourer of the
dead known as Ammut. The family brought Queen Nefertiti to Kiaria. O. Brown Mortuary embalmers,
in which the family had to sit down with the professionals to agree upon pricing and quality. It was up
to Nefertiti family members to choose the coffin type, funerary rites available and the treatment

Gerald Graff And Rakoff s They Say I Say
In chapter seven of They Say / I Say, Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein address how to improve a
topic through connectivity, and how the topic relates to the reader. They do so by introducing the
questions so what? and who cares? which, in their view, make for a more stimulating paper. Even if an
issue is obviously consequential, Birkenstein and Graff argue, the writer should go as far as possible in
answering those questions (100). One way the writer can do this is by refutibg the standard opinion of
their topic (97). Judge Jed Rakoff does precisely that in his article, Why Innocent People Plead Guilty.
He begins by noting that the criminal justice system bears little resemblance to what the Founding
Fathers contemplated . . . [and] what the average American believes. Due to plea bargains, jury trials
in the United States are exceedingly rare, in spite of constitutional provisions for a speedy and public
trial. If there is no trial, there can be no speedy trial, and that means that this constitutional right, for
most, is a myth. But while this revelation complicates and adds relevance to Rakoff s topic, he also
asks What s wrong with that? a variation of so what? In answer to this question, he says that plea
bargains are secret negotiations that invite[] arbitrary results. Both innocent and guilty defendants, in
other words, are placed in the same pot, and the goal is to achieve the appearance of fairness, not the
realization of it. Considering ninety seven percent of federal convictions are the results of guilty pleas
(Rakoff), that is a haunting injustice. Journalist Antonia Malchik takes a similar approach to in The
End of Walking. The right to walk, as Malchik calls it, might not seem as important as the right to a
fair trial, but she is explicit about the cost. Walking, Malchik observes, is an interconnection of
cognitive processes that can have a significant impact on everything from cardiovascular disease to
muscle atrophy. Yet walking as way of life is more out of reach than ever. For instance, in 2013, more
than 4,700 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes (Malchik). Malchik further emphasizes the
seriousness of the situation by including a relevant

Browne said, Daddy told us that there s not many things in life you really and truly cannot change, but

Summary Of Why Max Was Right By Karl Marx
Karl Marx is considered a very controversial figure. On the one hand, he was a figurehead for the
common worker worldwide. On the other hand, he was a detestable threat to the very existence of
capitalism according to the millionaires and billionaires that controlled and still control this country. In
David Michael M. San Juan s academic article Why Marx Was Right: Third World Edition , David
shows that economic inequality exists not just within First World countries, but also exists on a global
scale and affects Third World countries as well. The article begins with the definition of colonialism
and a quote by Pope Francis detailing how poor countries become a simple means of raw resource
providers: Colonialism, both old and new, which reduces poor countries to mere providers of raw
material and cheap labor, engenders violence, poverty, forced migrations...precisely because, by
placing the periphery at the service of the center, it denies those countries the right to an integral
development. (Juan 3) He goes on to prove that this statement by the Pope is based upon data from the
United Nations Development Report, which scores countries on the Human Development Index based
on various factors. The article goes on to recount various stories from various researchers and
documentaries, such as the story of the garbage chicken and mud cake , in which people from
developing Third World countries are documented as eating these things so as to get something in
their belly (Juan 4 5). He goes on, saying that these stories and the subsequent graphs provided in the
article prove that there is an economic disparity. This disparity has been almost exclusively left alone,
in favor of economic studies of First World countries. The article then begins to show the difference
between the rich and poor, and how the combined wealth of the top 1 percent will overtake the bottom
99 percent (Juan 8). The article goes on to show that the Marxist interpretation of capitalist
exploitation actually turns out to be accurate. The article references some disturbing facts, such as the
fact that the 1,426 richest individuals have an aggregate net worth of US$ 5.4 trillion, which is more
than the combined gross domestic product

The Affordable Care Act Of 2010
Abstract Signed into law in 1997, Children s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provides health
coverage to approximately eight million children. This law encompasses families whose incomes are
too high to qualify for Medicaid, but cannot afford the expense of private health insurance. CHIP is
like Medicaid, it s managed by the states, but different because it s jointly funded by the federal
government and by the states. The Affordable Care Act of 2010 retains the CHIP eligibility standards
and extended CHIP funding until October 1, 2015. The Affordable Care Act also provides an
additional $40 million in federal funding to continue efforts to encourage enrollment in Medicaid and
CHIP. Working to keep children healthy is something that all governmental opponents can agree on.
Medicaid and CHIP together provides health care coverage for low income families. Both of these
programs are jointly financed by the states and the federal government, but are largely administered by
the states within extensive federal rules. Funding for this program is set to expire at the end of
September of 2015. Although these programs differ in many ways, including financing, benefits and
cost sharing, it s very beneficial to many children whose parents make too much money to qualify for
Medicaid, but not enough for private health insurance. CHIP is also known as the State Children s
Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) and was created by the 1997 Balanced Budget Act, enacted

the Graphical Processing Unit (GPU), increasing the computing performance of our system, hence
creating a robust parallel computing unit. In this paper, we will be introducing a brief history on
CUDA, it s execution flow and it s architecture to handle processor intensive tasks. We will also be
highlighting some of it s real life applications and the difference in performance as compared of the
only CPU based architectures. Also, since most of the CUDA applications are written in C/C++, we
will also be exploring how CUDA provides the programmable interface in such languages as well.

So, in 2007, NVIDIA released CUDA, which provided the parallel architecture, to support the usage
of the GPUs. It was designed to work with programming languages such as C/C++ or Fortran and this
really helped specialists in parallel programming to use CUDA, rather than to learn other advanced
skills in GPU programming[10] . The model for GPU computing is to use a CPU and GPU together in
a heterogeneous co processing computing model[3]. The framework is designed such that the
sequential part of the application runs on the CPU and the computationally intensive part is
accelerated by the GPU. From the user s point of view, the application is faster because it is using the
better performance of the GPU to improve its own performance. Figure1: Core comparison

Bronze Coins Essay
Archaeologists have discovered nine 1,400 year old bronze coins that may have been hidden by
Christians trying to escape Persian invaders on a highway leading to Jerusalem in Israel. In June, the
Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) conducted an archaeological dig ahead of a widening project for
Highway 1 situated between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The scientists found a two story structure, a
winepress, and nine bronze coins that ate back to the 7th century C.E., Haaretz details. The
archaeologists think that the ancient coins belonged to Christians who hid them as they were trying to
flee Persians who invaded Israel in 614 C.E. In the course of time, the place where the stash was

It seems that during a time of danger the owner of the hoard placed the coins in a cloth purse that he

archaeologists date the coins. Earlier this month, Live Science published a story on the discovery of a

Essay on Police in Ontario
Policing in Ontario
1. What are the different types of police forces we have in Ontario and how do they differ and how are
they the same?
In Ontario, we have three different types of police forces. They are the municipal which are the
numbered divisions within a city, provincial which is the Ontario Provincial Police, and federal which
is the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Municipal police forces are established by the municipalities
and are usually in every major city. If a city has a population of approximately 50 000 100 000, then
they usually contract out the policing to the RCMP such as in the case of Burnaby and Northern
Vancouver, B.C. Municipal police forces are the most common type of policing found in ... Show

Another reason why I strongly believe that policing in Ontario is good is because of the T.A.V.I.S.
program. The Toronto Anti Violence Intervention Strategy is a group of officers who focus on
community policing and interaction with the community. They are deployed within a neighbourhood
who are experiencing a rise in crime, and it s their job to try to figure out the root cause of the problem
by cooperating with the community. Their goals are to make neighbourhoods safer, not by arresting
more people, but by the reduction of crime. Even though I believe policing in Ontario is good, there
can obviously be changes or enhancements in order to be more effective. First off, Ontario needs to
recognize aboriginal policing as a fully fledged police force. Not only are they more effective than
regular police, they are also the preferred policing amongst the aboriginal people themselves. One of
the most important aspects the police have to work on is community support and trust. They need to
reach out and communicate with the communities. I say this because I believe the reputation of
officers is tarnished, especially amongst any persons in priority neighbourhoods under the age of 30.
In order to prove this, I went to the Kingston/Galloway area which is one of the priority
neighbourhoods. I interviewed approximately 15 people of all different races, ages (under 30), and
nationalities. Remarkably, not a single person

revenge as a motif, which centralizes on the tragic deaths of Clytemnestra and Hieronimo s children.
The two protagonists act out because of a deep and furious anguish over what they perceive as
senseless murders of their beloved children, Iphigenia and Horatio. Clytemnestra and Hieronimo view
this crime committed by the murderers as an act of betrayal. Thus, it encourages the two protagonists
to seek revenge for their own child s unlawful death. Both parents regard their vindictive motives as

Naturalism In Wharton s Ethan Frome
Naturalism began as a literary movement in the early 1890 s all throughout 1915. Naturalism is meant
to imply a philosophical position. For writers, characters can be studied through their relationships to
their surroundings. Naturalists believed that human beings are meant to be studied like they were just
products , that are to be studied impartially, without moralizing about their natures. Ethan Frome was
first published in 1911. At first, people were skeptical that Wharton could write realistically about
poor farmers, seeing as how she had been born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Ethan Frome takes
place in a New England background. In the short novel, Ethan is married to a querulous wife. He is

back to if he didn t give up his life. With them came the heated vision of the house he was going back
to of the stairs he would have to go up every night, of the woman who would wait for him there. And
the sweetness of Mattie s avowal, the wild wonder of knowing at last that all that had happened to him
had happened to her too, made the other vision more abhorrent, the other life more intolerable to
return to . . . (Wharton 71). When Ethan says the woman who would wait for him there , he is talking
about Zeena. He also means that he d be happy to see her go the same way he did, instead of leaving
her to deal with Zeena by herself. Mattie feels the same way about Ethan being left alone to deal with
Zeena for the rest of his life, alone. In the first page of Ethan Frome, the narrator is asking around, and

Student Lo 7 Students Loan
7 student loan myths debunked
When it comes to student loans, there is a lot of information to take in especially for a new college
student who is exploring their financing options for the first time, or a new graduate who has just
started paying off their student loan debt. With all of the different information out there, it can be easy
to get confused, and perhaps even misunderstand certain things about student loans. The following are
some common student loan myths, debunked:
Myth #1: I m not worried about my student loan debt, because I can just have some or all of my debt
forgiven
Fact: It s not easy to qualify for student loan forgiveness. The criteria can be rather strict, and you

You can usually get your payments adjusted and lowered based on your income, so if you haven t
exactly reached the salary you were hoping for post graduation, don t fret. You may also be able to
temporarily defer payments as well. However, you ll want to consider the disadvantage of not opting
for a standard repayment schedule. You are essentially lengthening your loan by delaying the
inevitable, which means you ll pay more interest in the end.
Myth #3: I can discharge my student loan debt through bankruptcy if I ever really need to
Fact: Not all debts can be discharged through bankruptcy, and typically, student loan debt falls into
that category. That doesn t mean it s impossible, but isn t as easy as discharging other types of debt,
and you may not be eligible. As such, it s important to not just assume that bankruptcy can be an
automatic solution for any student loan debt troubles.
Myth #4: I probably don t qualify for financial aid, so I should just take out student loans
Fact: Not necessarily. Many students qualify for some level of funding, and unlike student loans,
financial aid usually doesn t need to be paid back (there are some exceptions to this for example, if
you fail a class). It doesn t cost anything to just apply and see what you re eligible for. Even if you don
t receive enough financial aid to avoid student loans completely, every little bit helps, and that s less
you ll need to borrow.
Myth #5: I ll be required to borrow far more

The Idea of Li and Governing Essay
Li, or rites, has played an integral part in shaping early Chinese philosophy, though not all
philosophers have agreed on its meaning or reason for application. Some will argue that human nature
requires us to us Li to be ethical beings, while others believe that Li will teach and mold us into beings
that will follow the norms of our society. The three major Confucian philosophers whom used the idea
of Li to shape their theories were Confucius, Mencius, and Xunzi. All three of these philosophers used
Li to shape their ideal government, but it was Xunzi who would have the most applicable form of an
ideal government. Confucius was alive and teaching during the Spring and Autumn period. The power
of the Zhou king was on the decline and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking back at the social norm of a man holding a door open, even though there is no direct
punishment for not holding the door open, a man will naturally feel a sense of shame when not
adhering to the social ritual that is ascribed to a man. He wanted men to do the right thing not out of
fear, but out of shame. This would lead the common folk to follow the Li and become gentlemen in
their own right. There would be no chaos due to lack of basic needs because the everyone in the
society was fulfilling their personal role, whether it be to provide food or provide governance.
Confucius also put a large emphasis on the Zhou kings of the past, calling them sage kings and
praising their ability to keep order through promoting Li to their subjects, which caused peace and
security to their fellow man (The Analects, 22). Mencius, a stark follower of Confucius s teachings,
viewed Li in a different light. Living in the time called the Warring State Period, Mencius saw the
discourse and chaos that Confucius had worked hard to fight against. While rulers fought amongst
themselves for power, Mencius sought to find what was the cause of this chaos and what could
alleviate it. Mencius had a nearly identical description of Li as Confucius, yet his Li was largely tied
in with human nature and the internal struggle to be a moral person. Li was just one of the

Zootopi Is It Better To Live Together Creatively Or...
Zootopia is a mammal metropolis populated by anthropomorphic mammals where predators and prey

together without eating or harming each other in real life. There are many factors that keep animals
from living together peacefully. These factors include survival instincts, food supplies, climate and the
animal s temperament. The fact that we will never be able to make animals understand that working

In the movie, it shows animals living together that would normally live in very different climate
zones. Such as, a polar bear and a zebra. Polar bears live in very cold climates and zebras live in hot,

Lions for example, are a lot more violent than bunnies and they can cause a lot more damage. It would
be very hard to teach them that violence is not always needed, because it is in their instincts. As of
now, we do not have a good way to communicate with animals. It would be impossible for us to get
animals to understand that living together peacefully can be a good thing. The relationship of the

The American Common School Movement
Introduction
While many different types of schools and educational movements have influenced the American
education system that we have today, two primary influences are the American common school
movement and the Latin grammar school movement. Common schools were first started in the 1830 s

provided by the government. The Latin grammar schools came into being around the 1870 s to 1900 s
and were used as secondary education to prepare young men for college. While both schools have
different characteristics that contribute to the differences of them, they also have similarities such as
their curriculum that make them alike.
Common Schools Background
When a person imagines the typical one room school house or similar educational buildings, the type
of schools that they are picturing are common schools. Common Schools were one of the first
organized schools that were established by Horace Mann and Henry Barnard. Additionally, Thomas
Jefferson influenced the start of common schools in some perspective s. Common schools were
available for everyone and supported by taxes payed by citizens. While Latin grammar schools only
accepted men, common schools accepted girls into their schools without any judgement towards them.
(Wagoner Urban, 2008). Common schools did face difficulties such a having large class sizes and only
one teacher. The curriculum to common schools relied heavily on

The Chrysalids, by John Wyndham
The Chrysalids by John Wyndham is a science fiction novel about a town that does not accept
difference. The novel takes place in a post nuclear time in the community of Waknuk. It describes how
human nature can be cruel and the act of acceptance which everyone strives for. David Strorm morally
and emotionally grows throughout the novel through character, setting, theme and plot. Significant
events that David experiences teach him both something about himself and the world he lives in.
When he firstly meets Sophie and realizes her difference, his aunt expressing that she does not feel
bad about her newborn that has a deviation and lastly when he, Petra and Rosalind flee Waknuk.
The characters change drastically throughout the novel especially David Strorm. He changes from the
young innocent boy to an adult striving for his acceptance. David is brought up in a house hold and
community that teaches to not accept deviants. In his adolescence David starts realizing that he is not
like the others. He believes that it is ok to have differences, especially when he meets Sophie and the
way his community captures her sending her away because they believe she is not the true image of
the Lord. The essential quality of life is living, the essential quality of living is change; change is
evolution: and we are part of it. The static, the
enemy of change is the enemy of life , and therefore our implacable enemy ( Wyndham, 196 ). At a
young age he realizes that there is something

Latino Music Essay
I have grown up listening to Hip Hop just as I did listening to my mother s blaring Bachata and
Merengue every Sunday morning and from what I can recall, the artists I primarily listened to were
black, or Eminem. The only Spanish rappers I did listen to were Reggaeton artists, meaning I did not
listen to many predominately English speaking Latino rappers. This revelation of my early musical
tastes begs the question as to why I was not exposed to more Latino rappers during the late nineties
and early millennium. In learning about how Latino s have participated within the realm of Hip Hop,
one learns that allow Latino s have played a major role in its foundations, the call for a strong identity

African American acceptance of Latino culture stems largely from similar experiences of prejudice
and shared African roots. In addition, black hip hop has included various Latino elements, illustrating
growing acceptance and integrations between both parties. Various elements present in black hip hop
include Spanglish lyrics, rumba rhythms (Morales 300 301), and the celebration and desire for a
Latina woman, who shares similar physique to African American women (Rivera 131 132). In
examining Latino Hip Hop history, an overall theme of inclusion and exclusion emerges, where
Latinos are included if they provide something desirable and marketable and excluded due to their
ethnicity. Because of this, the need to affirm Latin identity becomes a necessity in order to solidify the
Latino presence within the genre. Latino rap takes on the Latin American experience and builds upon
to tell poetic stories of pride, unity, and discrimination throughout Latino history. This theme of being
proud of one s roots plays a central role in how Spanish speaking rappers may or may not conduct
themselves. For many, the following lyrics illustrate pride in the face of discrimination: Now what you

My Graduate Study At Harbin Institute Of Technology Essay
As someone who has great enthusiasm for mathematics and a strong interest in financial modeling, I
find myself drawn to Statistics above all other subjects. Additionally, my undergraduate study at
Harbin Institute of Technology has provided me with a strong foundation in mathematics and
economics, and I ve also been able to develop my ability to apply statistical methodology through
research experience on Prediction of Interest Rate Term Structure. I have no doubt that my
enthusiasm, diligence, and cooperative spirit will make me an asset to MStat of the University of
Hong Kong.
The Harbin Institute of Technology is in the C9 League (the top 9 universities in China), Chinese
national 985 Project and 211 Project universities, and my education in International Economics there
has subsequently been among the highest quality in China. Additionally, as one of the best engineering
universities in China, HIT places great focus upon the cultivation of mathematical ability and the
development of an engineering mindset. This is reflected in many aspects of an education at HIT: HIT
has higher standards for students in mathematics curricula, such as requiring mathematical analysis for
engineering instead of merely calculus, and some course designs include calculation by programming,
for instance, the calculation of implied volatility of option. Therefore, I have a sound base in
mathematics and get ready to study in the program of statistics.

Antibiotic Investigation
The graph I have created is a line graph. I included the four types of antibiotics we tested.
Control, which is a blank template and has no medicine on it, but acted example of no effectiveness,
penicillin, streptomycin, and tetracycline. The zone of inhabitation is a circular shape around the circle
pad of antibiotic that represents the effectiveness of an antibiotic at a given dosage. It is measured in
millimeters and included the diameter of the disk of antibiotic. We determine the effectiveness of it by
putting the different measurements in three different categories. The categories are resistant,
intermediate, and susceptible. Resistant means that the antibiotic was not effective, intermediate
means it was slightly effective, and susceptible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
coli, and the other was for s. epi. We covered the inside of each petri dish (that had a jelly base) with
the bacteria it was designated for. After that, we split both dishes into four sections. In the middle of
each section we would put an antibiotic disc. After all four of the antibiotics were placed in each dish
with tweezers, they were incubated overnight. The next day, we measured the zone of inhabitance
around each antibiotic disc. I had two statements in my hypothesis. If S. epi is gram positive, then
penicillin, streptomycin, and tetracycline will be effective on it because each one reacts with gram
positive bacteria. If E. coli is gram negative, then streptomycin and tetracycline will be effective on it
because each one reacts with gram positive bacteria. I reject the first statement in my hypothesis
because only one of the antibiotics was susceptible on s. epi, while the others were resistant. I accept
my second hypothesis because both streptomycin and tetracycline were susceptible on the e. coli
bacteria. We can relate this experiment to the outside world by testing the effectiveness of antibiotics
on certain diseases and infections. This important for the care and treatment of people so they can
continue living their lives. If I or a friend every needed to know the effectiveness of a antibiotic
against a bacteria I can look up labs similar to this one to make sure we are taking the right

An Analysis Of Zora Neale Hurston s Trifles By Susan...
In a male dominated society, women were believed to be fragile weaklings that depended on men in
order to survive and find happiness. In fact, they were seen as nothing more than selfless wives and
mothers. The seemingly perfect wife then, was characterized by her dutifulness and obedient
demeanor. This notion of male supremacy was undoubtedly the predominant basis of the nineteenth
and twentieth centuries. Rendered unable to voice their own opinions, women then turned to pen and
paper as a way to communicate their thoughts. From this, arose the following pieces: Kate Chopin s
short story The Story of an Hour, Emily Dickinson s poem She rose to His Requirement dropt, Susan
Glaspell s play Trifles, and Zora Neale Hurston s novel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story takes place during the harsh and relentless winter, serving as a key symbol since Mrs. Hale
describes Mr. Wright as a raw wind that gets to the bone (Glaspell 19). In this sense, the desolate
environment outside parallels the atmosphere inside the Wright s home. The cold presence of her
husband has confined Mrs. Wright and created a loneliness that was unbearable, leading her to
eventually murder him.
While Glaspell communicates women s view of marriage through significance of the canary and
setting, Chopin makes use of the symbolism in Mrs. Mallard s room door along with the front door of
her home to illustrate the struggles that women during her time. After news of her husband s death,
Mrs. Mallard retreats back to her room, having no one accompany her. She resides there long enough
that her sister, Josephine, must implor[e] for admission with her lips to the keyhole (Chopin 16).
Josephine is convinced that grief has consumed her sister who was making herself ill. Although she
does weep over the death of her husband, Mrs. Mallard was drinking in a very elixir of life (Chopin
16). The door that divides her and the rest of the characters represents a separation from her ordinary
life and the life that she must keep private. Only behind this door does Mrs. Mallard feel safe to
confide in her feelings, which was that of joy and a profound desire for a freedom that would belong
to her absolutely (Chopin 16), without concern for what others will make

U.s. Labor Policy Proposal Essay
Labor Policy Proposal
Presented by
Institution
Introduction Many people have no idea of what they expect to achieve after retirement when asked
about their retirement plans. The government s policies about retirement do not cater for the well
being of retirees creating a lot of worry for the life after employment. The increasing number of
employees demanding cover by government pension programs and the current decline in the
retirement income levels contributes to the change of the American pension landscape (Heiland and
Li, 2012). The United States of America developed labor laws during the time when the country s
economy was independent and self contained. The main aim of U.S. labor policy was to get rid of
different challenges affecting employees and improve their lifestyle in order to enjoy working in a
suitable environment. Additionally, the labor policy aimed at protecting American workers by law and
protecting certain human rights. According to Dugas (2013), despite the growing economy in U.S.
more than 28 percent of American workers lack confidence with the current labor policy on
retirement. The research conducted by the Employment Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) in 2013
revealed that most workers are not sure of saving money for retirement. The above information calls
upon a recommendation of labor policy about retirement that would fulfill the demands of workers.
The proposed policy will bring change to the Public Employees Retirement Fund

Vatican Influence On American Culture
In the articles they talked about the Vatican Synod and how it was not like any Vatican Synod before.
In the Vatican Synod the bishops voted a ⅔ majority on how people who were divorced can marry
again in the church. After, the article talked about how this votes might ve been rigged for
predetermined results. In the Vatican Synod, they also talked about a more merciful church for
divorced people. For example, they had said that the church will provide spiritual help for those that
were married then divorced and may soon be allowed to be welcomed back into the church. Also,
there was a different setup than previous years in the Vatican Synod. For example, in years before the
Synod was already planned out where all the changes and documents were already made. That s not
all that the Synod talked about, but we will discuss the other discussions and my opinions in this next
paragraph. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Vatican Synod, the bishops talked about same sex marriage and homosexuality. In my opinion,
this was not a good topic to talk about because the US recently passed a law about same sex marriage
which would make us look bad. Pope Francis also changed the layout of the Vatican Synod to be
different than prior years. For example, in years before this the Vatican Synod was just a discussion of
what they changed, but this year they discussed and voted on laws for the church. In my opinion this
was a good idea so Pope Francis would know why certain people voted for something and try to find
out what affected their decisions. In the Vatican Synod, Pope Francis changed very important laws for
the church. For example, he changed how you can be welcomed back into the church if you were
divorced. This is surprising to me because that is a topic that is usually never brought up at the Vatican
Synod. That is report on my opinion on the Vatican Synod and what Pope Francis did to it this

The Relationship Between Time And Money
The relationship between time and money provides the foundation of every financial decision that we,
the people made in the world today. Whether it will be saving money for a future event or considering
a loan to pay for a current financial need. Everyday, everywhere people are greatly affected by the
time value of money. Firms and organizations, investors and capitalists use this concept in particular
for them to decide what to accomplish with their money and how to achieve their goals. They give
money today in order to receive money in the future. Companies on the other hand applies the use of
its view and theory to decide which projects to take and which projects to pass up. This perception is
called capital budgeting. Capital budgeting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Time Value of Money impacts business finance, corporate finance, and government finance. Time
value of money is demanding and demeaning when investing in finance and commercial real estate for
instance, in valuing companies, stock analysts use this idea and the notion of time value of money to
discount back the estimated future earnings of a company to their present value. But, in comparison to
numerous different buyers and sellers, whose future earnings may come at different times; discounting
the value of their earnings may assess their present value.
Present value determines what a cash flow to be received in the future is worth in today s dollars. The
present value of future cash flow will always be less than the same amount of future cash flows, since
each people can instantly and directly invest cash received now, therefore can achieve a greater return
than from a promise to receive cash in the future. The concept of present value is critical in various
financial applications, for instance, corresponding to the valuation of pension obligations, determining
the outcome of investing in fixed assets, and whether or not to purchase one type of investment over
another.
A crucial fundamental component of the present value calculation is the interest rate to use for
discounting purposes. While the market rate of

Scarlet Letter Individuality
In The Scarlet Letter, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, the story of a flawed woman is told in such an
explicitly detailed way that it manages to exemplify the individuality of the tale. As author Thomas
Hardy states, A story must be exceptional enough to justify its telling; it must have something more
unusual to relate than the ordinary experience of every average man and woman. The seven years of
Hester Prynne s life that The Scarlet Letter reminisces about is such a strange and exquisite story that
uses both the irregularity of such events, and the period of time in which it takes place, to keep the
reader intrigued. The rarity of this story that Hawthorne seamlessly stumbled upon during his time in
the custom house and the talent of the aforementioned author in his writing skills, leads to a timeless
tale worthy of the papers it is placed upon. In the period of time in which the story takes place,
scandals between people and their relationships were extremely rare and almost unheard of. If you
skip forward a couple hundred years, cheating and other things that were once unimaginable now
happen all the time. The reaction of citizens in her town shows the outrage that occurred towards such
an uncommon event, with one lady saying, This woman brought shame upon us all, and ought to die.
Is there no law for it? (Hawthorne, 49). The statement demonstrates just how confused and unprepared
the townspeople were for such an event, planning forms of punishment

  • 2. Inequality And Oppression The aim of this essay is to address the problem of inequality and oppression through three separate texts, The Second Sex, The Death of the Profane and Killing Rage. The Second Sex focuses on the woman and her role compared to man. The Death of the Profane and Killing Rage are both texts that describe experiences about the constant racism felt by blacks. To thoroughly examine these texts and how they are related to oppression and inequality it is important to first define what each mean. Oppression and inequality each have different definitions but they go hand in hand. Oppression is the state of being subject to prolonged unjust treatment. While inequality is defined as lacking equality, equality is the state of being equal especially in status, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simone de Beauvoir focuses on women and their permanent otherness, women will always be this other . They are never the subject or absolute like man is. This constant oppression of women is different of others, women are not a minority, they are numerically almost equal to man and yet man has still been able to create dominance over them. Man is the superior, they are the absolute and women are the other. Oppositely, bell hooks and Patricia Williams speak on the inequality of minorities, specifically blacks. Racism and killing rage are heavily connected. Racism is strong and deep; it is the phantom in the room. Killing rage is a rage that is felt after constant unjust treatment, it is a rage that is healing. This killing rage should be viewed as a passion for freedom. I think a passion for freedom should be the forefront change. This passion for freedom can be connected to each author. A passion for freedom can aid in changing the permanent otherness women have faced and continue to face. Otherness is expressed through inequalities in pay and the way women are viewed. Simone de Beauvoir s text brought up important and relevant inequalities women and minorities face. Patricia Williams text focusing on the inequality blacks face is relevant and important. Again a passion for freedom from oppression and inequality should be expressed. By Patricia Williams continually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Maslow in his paper Theory Z and the other is Dr. William Ouchi s so called Japanese Management style popularized during the Asian economic boom of the 1980s. The third was developed by W. J. Reddin in Managerial Effectiveness (19 Situation guides) man: * Reason motivates him. * Interdependence is man s primary mode of discourse. * Interaction is man s social unit of importance. The word Wa in Japanese can be applied to Theory Z because they both deal with promoting partnerships and group work. The word Wa means a perfect circle or harmony, which influences Japanese society to always be in teams and to come to a solution together. Promoting Theory Z and the Japanese word Wa is how the Japanese economy became so powerful. And also because the Japanese show a high level enthusiasm to work, some of the researchers claim that Z in the theory Z stands for Zeal . Ouchi wrote a book called Theory Z How American Business Can Meet the Japanese Challenge (1981), in this book; Ouchi shows how American corporations can meet the Japanese challenges with a highly effective management style that promises to transform business in the 1980 s. The secret to Japanese success, according to Ouchi, is not technology, but a special way of managing people. This is a managing style that focuses on a strong company philosophy, a distinct corporate culture, long range staff development, and consensus decision making (Ouchi, 1981). Ouchi shows that the results show lower turn over, increased job commitment, and dramatically higher productivity. William Ouchi doesn t say that the Japanese culture for business is necessarily the best strategy for the American companies but he takes Japanese business techniques and adapts them to the American corporate environment. Much like McGregor s theories, Ouchi s Theory Z makes certain assumptions about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Drug Testing Professions In many professions, drug testing is the norm. When a company hires an employee, they may be required to be drug tested (Deschenaux, 2015). Throughout the duration of the employment term, drug testing may be required, rather this is a surprise test or not. It would be my opinion that drug testing, for the most part, be used. In many professions, such as hospital, school, or military settings drug testing is mandatory. After all would an individual like to know that their doctor, nurse, child s teacher is under the influence of a drug? I personally would not be happy. While some professions may not need drug testing, it would be improbable to ban drug testing while still enforcing it for these above fields. For example, the military performs ... Even construction workers serve people, they must ensure the work they do is safe for those who may use whatever is being built. • 5. Why Canada Is An Astounding Nation People in the United States joke a lot about Canadians, which makes sense since Canada can be very strange. Canada never declared independence. Justin Bieber is from Canada. Canada s military is non existent. They give out the Juno award. Their accents sound kind of silly, eh? Canada could improve a couple things, but Canada, however, possesses many admirable qualities, some that others praise them for, and others that outsiders do not notice. I, personally, have to come to admire Canada for 3 reasons, which I try to emulate. My scarlet letter honors these efforts. I think Canada is an astounding nation because their global influence lies largely below the radar, their government remains at peace with virtually everyone, and the Canadian people are generally known for their genuine kindness and care for others. Canada benefits economically and politically because many countries don t take them seriously as a world power. Foreign nations are not alarmed when Canada adds its name late to treaties and economic policies late in a process. Despite this, Canadian decisions play a major role on the world stage, as they did in 1923 s Chanak crisis, where they kept Britain from intervening in wars in the former Ottoman Empire simply by refusing to help. Although I would like to be respected in my lifetime, being underestimated by the common people could benefit me in many ways. He is best known for assisting in the assassination of Julius Caesar but he was also a husband, friend, influential public figure, and an honorable military leader. Brutus, son of Marcus Junius Brutus Maior and Servilia, was born in Rome in 85 BC and was raised by his uncle, Servilius Caepio. He started his political career being Cato s assistant and during this time he made money by loaning to desperate people and then charging them high interest rates. Brutus realized the threat that his friend Caesar was becoming and accepted the invitation to join the conspirators. The conspirators met in secret and plotted on how to kill Caesar, finally reaching the conclusion to attack Caesar on the Ides of March at the Theater of Pompey during a session of the senate. The day arrived and Brutus and the conspirators made their way to the meeting. Many bad omens accompanied Caesar on his way to the Senate meeting such as a Caesar s wife dreaming of Caesar bleeding to death and trying to persuade him not to attend the Senate meeting, Spurinna warning Caesar to beware dangers, and even Caesar himself being ill the day of the meeting. All of these hindrances delayed Caesar s arrival and worried the conspirators yet Brutus insisted that they remain vigilant. Caesar finally arrived and took his seat and it was not long after that the attack ensued. Daggers flew through the air and into Caesar. After many additional stabbings by many of the conspirators, Caesar lay dead at the conspirators feet. • 10. A Black Man Talks Of Reaping By Countee Cullen Alienation of Individuals Many individuals are often alienated from society. One of many causes can be the racism of African Americans. The alienation caused by racism can affect individuals and society. Due to their race, they were discriminated and led to racial inequality. This can all be depicted in Incident by Countee Cullen, A Black Man Talks of Reaping by Arna Bontemps, and We Wear the Mask by Paul Laurence Dunbar. In Incident , a young African American is called a racial slur because of her physical appearance. Also, A Black Man Talks of Reaping , describes how a black man is discriminated and face racial inequality. Lastly, in We Wear the Mask shows how blacks had to hide their true identity because they were colored and did not fit in society. In all three text of Cullen, Bontemps, and Dunbar all show how racism can make an individual feel alienated. In the poem, Incident by Countee Cullen , he looks back at a moment of his life that he encounters racism. Racism causes individuals to become alienated. He was a young Baltimorean and sees a boy staring at him. He says, I was eight and very small, / And he was no whit bigger, / And so I smiled, but he poked out/ His tongue and called me, Nigger . (Cullen 5 18)To explain, he uses imagery to show he was called a racial slur just because of his appearance. This is also important because this demonstrates how racism can start at a young age, he was no whit bigger than him when he was eight. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Usually, family members communicate with each other, and having similar communication with pets is part of viewing them as family. Pets respond through vocalizations and gestures, which are understood by their owners, sometimes in special ways. Some people prefer the intimate communication they share with their pet over conversations with humans. There are different levels of affection and respect that people have for their pets, but the term family members is used quite often. Cohen (2002) explores this trend in three different ways: (a) Pets are like human family; (b) pets are part of a broader social network system but not family; (c) pets are family members only in a linguistically playful way. (621). Whether people joke about their pets as children or not, the idea of companion animals as specific kin or generic family members is becoming much more accepted in western cultural systems, and we have to pay much more attention to it. If we do not recognize the intense emotional bonds people have with animals, we risk damaging both the human and the pet s well being when they are forced to separate for various reasons (housing, illness, family disputes). Beyond psychological issues, if we discount or ignore the importance of pets in the kinship network in anthropological studies, we risk missing out on a rich area of human relations, which will enrich the field of cultural ... • 12. Process Of Negotiation Analysis Per Text Fee Verses a Resource Fee Usually when an institution moves towards adopting eBooks, a single publisher provides the institution with all of the materials and eBooks (Ye, 2015). Moving to a resource fee rather than a fee for each textbook, the resource fee would make the students have to by an electronic textbook without an option to purchase a printed textbook (Ye, 2015). Process of Negotiation When negotiating with publishers, there are several topics that must be addressed. If the institution wants to have a third party to place the content on a platform of the institution s choice and manage the content, the institution may not be able to do this under the license with the publisher (Dunie, 2015). Often times, the university bookstore is a third party vendor, and during negotiations, there are items that need to be discussed. In contract negotiations, there needs to be information that includes electronic material (Raible deNoyelles, 2015). Since the definition of electronic material is constantly changing, it is recommended that the terminology used for referencing electronic material in contracts is digital material so that it can include all types of material and not just eBooks (Raible deNoyelles, 2015, p. 8). The negotiations need to also include the time frame for students to access an eBook, refund policies, and format availability for the eBook, and it also needs to include how much the bookstore can markup the price for the eBook (Raible deNoyelles, 2015). The New Right was just as radical as its liberal opposite, with agendas to increase government involvement beyond the established conservative view of government s role. Although New Right politicians made admirable advances to dissemble New Deal economic policies, the movement as a whole counters conservativism and the ideologies that America was founded on. He rejected all forms of welfare and redistribution, arguing that current welfare and other subsidy programs substantially reduce work and incurs bitter resistance of the real working class . Gilder strayed from establishment ideology when he added a moral element to his position, citing monogamous heterosexual marriage as a requirement for upward mobility. Gilder is an example of how New Right intellectuals borrowed Old Right economic theory and then tainted it by adding elements of morality and traditionalism. The Old Right also found common ground with Reagan s measures to deregulate business, however many argued that he did not expand the policies enough. Reagan froze new regulations and ordered a rollback of existing rules to decrease bureaucracy within federal regulation and public services but failed to dismantle or privatize any federal programs. The push to privatize the Social Security system is a central example of the New Right failing to fully dismantle New Deal liberalism. Libertarian intellectual, J.D. There are many different types of relief pitchers that each team has in its bullpen. While starting pitcher each team usually has about 5 starters that rotate through each game, which leaves the rest of the game up to the relief pitchers once the starter can no longer go. People do not normally realize that saying a person is a pitcher is quite a general statement. If they got on with a hit the goal is to get a shutout, which is when the opposing team scores no runs. Also if the starting pitcher goes all the innings in the game whether it is seven or nine they are rewarded with the complete game. Normally when a pitcher reaches any of their goals they achieve a win. Starting pitchers normally have at a minimum three effective pitches. They need pitches to get ahead in the count on the batter and then a strike out pitch. A strike out pitch is a pitch with a lot of break or movement and is hard for the batter to pick up and normally ends with freezing the batter or a swing and miss. A relief pitcher or commonly called a reliever is a pitcher that comes in at any time during the game after the first pitch of the game is thrown. The starter can be removed for multiple reasons such as; injury, ineffectiveness, fatigue, ejection, or depending on the batter. There are many types of relief pitchers for example closers, set up pitchers, middle relief, left handed specialist, long relievers and mop up relief. Many relief pitchers were starters in the primes of their careers but can no longer endure the stress given with being a starter. This is because as a relief there is more time for rest between outings and the pitcher doesn t throw as many pitches in one outing. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. The Importance Of Fresh Water Invertebrates Fresh water invertebrates rely on many things to help them survive in the river and other bodies of water. The water quality must be the right pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen levels and conductivity levels in the water for the invertebrates to survive. Fresh water invertebrates are important for the ecosystem as they feed on mosses on the rocks and provide food for predators to keep the ecosystem together. Water quality is important because if it is poor then the animals, not only livestock but domestic pets, will be affected by it because they would drink from the river. Not only do animals drink from it but water is also extracted from this river for human consumption as drinking water, therefore if diseases get in to water it can also have consequences on humans as well as animals. (find evidence) The quality of the water can affect the way in which the ecosystem can change as if the water quality becomes poor then this can influence not only the invertebrates themselves but those species that eat these invertebrates (Wren Stephenson, 1991). Therefore, the whole food chain would be broken as the predators would have nothing to eat so would then they will also start to die. By monitoring what freshwater invertebrates are in each section of the river, we can check what the water quality in the water is like as certain invertebrates survive in different conditions (look up what invertebrates survive better in acid and alkaline water). The ownership of any possession beyond those specified on the list can be confiscated or completely destroyed by city officials and, if non compliant to the destruction of their property, those experiencing homelessness can be arrested. Such regulations and seizures can constitute violations in both the Fourth and the Fifth Amendments in that such deprivation of property is an unreasonable seizure and without due process of law. • 17. N Sott Momaday The Way To The Rainy Mountain Analysis These lines extracted from N Sott Momaday s The Way to Rainy Mountain aptly depict his conception of the reader s role within this multi genre text. Literary Texts , as famously articulated by Terry Eagleton, are code productive, code transgressive as well as code confirming...they may teach us new ways of reading , not just reinforce the ones with which we come equipped . ( Eagleton, 116). Reaffirming this analogy, Momaday s The Way to the Rainy Mountain empirically proposes to transgress old codes, disintegrate decisions, eventually leading to a creation of polyphony within literature by simultaneously performing eternal happening . Momaday has incessantly stressed upon his ideology associated with the powerful act of imagination. In an essay entitled Native American Attitudes to the Environment , he advocates ...we are all....at the most fundamental level what we imagine ourselves to be..... . ( 80). The same intonation is reiterated in his proverbial lecture entitled Man made of words where he eloquently elaborates We are what we imagine. • 18. Essay On Investment Management Versus Stockbrokers The investment services industry can be daunting and ambiguous for individuals who seek a return on their capital. After working hard earning your wealth, it is important to understand the different services offered by professionals and what solutions fit you personally. One of the main questions we get asked here is: What is the difference between investment management and stockbrokers? Firstly, let s discuss what stockbrokers are we all have a much better, clearer, idea of what they do and who they represent. Stockbrokers are regulated firms that offer financial advice to their clients. A stockbroker buys and sells equities and other securities like bonds, CFDs, Futures and Options on behalf of their clients in return for a fee or commission. A brokerage / stockbroker will receive a fee on each transaction, whether the idea is profitable or not. A brokerage can specialise in any investment niche they wish for example: FTSE All Share stocks, AIM stocks, European Stocks, Asian Stocks, US Stocks Combinations of the above Straight equities, Straight derivative trading (CFDs, Futures Options) The main reason why investors choose stockbrokers over any other professional investment service is simply down to control. Due to the nature of a brokerage firm, they can only execute a trade after you instruct them to do so. This means it is impossible for a brokerage to keep buying and selling securities without you knowing known as churning for commission. This doesn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Considering how fundamentally opposed I am to the idea of opaque marketing with whisky, I imagine it s somewhat surprising (even to myself, if I m to be honest) how much I adore and support Bruichladdich. Let s face it...no other distillery has done as much to reinvigorate the whisky world over the last few years as Bruichladdich. They ve pushed hard for higher bottling strengths first 46% as a standard, and now 50%. They ve foregone artificial colouring. They ve made a mockery of the concept of chill filtration. The reason these are hazards is because most of the ranges in Nevada have a major fault line on either side of them. Gerald Graff And Rakoff s They Say I Say In chapter seven of They Say / I Say, Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein address how to improve a topic through connectivity, and how the topic relates to the reader. They do so by introducing the questions so what? and who cares? which, in their view, make for a more stimulating paper. Even if an issue is obviously consequential, Birkenstein and Graff argue, the writer should go as far as possible in answering those questions (100). One way the writer can do this is by refutibg the standard opinion of their topic (97). Judge Jed Rakoff does precisely that in his article, Why Innocent People Plead Guilty. He begins by noting that the criminal justice system bears little resemblance to what the Founding Fathers contemplated . . . [and] what the average American believes. Due to plea bargains, jury trials in the United States are exceedingly rare, in spite of constitutional provisions for a speedy and public trial. If there is no trial, there can be no speedy trial, and that means that this constitutional right, for most, is a myth. But while this revelation complicates and adds relevance to Rakoff s topic, he also asks What s wrong with that? a variation of so what? In answer to this question, he says that plea bargains are secret negotiations that invite[] arbitrary results. Both innocent and guilty defendants, in other words, are placed in the same pot, and the goal is to achieve the appearance of fairness, not the realization of it. Considering ninety seven percent of federal convictions are the results of guilty pleas (Rakoff), that is a haunting injustice. Journalist Antonia Malchik takes a similar approach to in The End of Walking. The right to walk, as Malchik calls it, might not seem as important as the right to a fair trial, but she is explicit about the cost. Walking, Malchik observes, is an interconnection of cognitive processes that can have a significant impact on everything from cardiovascular disease to muscle atrophy. Yet walking as way of life is more out of reach than ever. For instance, in 2013, more than 4,700 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes (Malchik). • 26. Summary Of Why Max Was Right By Karl Marx Karl Marx is considered a very controversial figure. On the one hand, he was a figurehead for the common worker worldwide. On the other hand, he was a detestable threat to the very existence of capitalism according to the millionaires and billionaires that controlled and still control this country. In David Michael M. San Juan s academic article Why Marx Was Right: Third World Edition , David shows that economic inequality exists not just within First World countries, but also exists on a global scale and affects Third World countries as well. The article begins with the definition of colonialism and a quote by Pope Francis detailing how poor countries become a simple means of raw resource providers: Colonialism, both old and new, which reduces poor countries to mere providers of raw material and cheap labor, engenders violence, poverty, forced migrations...precisely because, by placing the periphery at the service of the center, it denies those countries the right to an integral development. (Juan 3) He goes on to prove that this statement by the Pope is based upon data from the United Nations Development Report, which scores countries on the Human Development Index based on various factors. The article goes on to recount various stories from various researchers and documentaries, such as the story of the garbage chicken and mud cake , in which people from developing Third World countries are documented as eating these things so as to get something in their belly (Juan 4 5). He goes on, saying that these stories and the subsequent graphs provided in the article prove that there is an economic disparity. This disparity has been almost exclusively left alone, in favor of economic studies of First World countries. The article then begins to show the difference between the rich and poor, and how the combined wealth of the top 1 percent will overtake the bottom 99 percent (Juan 8). The article goes on to show that the Marxist interpretation of capitalist exploitation actually turns out to be accurate. The article references some disturbing facts, such as the fact that the 1,426 richest individuals have an aggregate net worth of US$ 5.4 trillion, which is more than the combined gross domestic product ... This law encompasses families whose incomes are too high to qualify for Medicaid, but cannot afford the expense of private health insurance. CHIP is like Medicaid, it s managed by the states, but different because it s jointly funded by the federal government and by the states. The Affordable Care Act of 2010 retains the CHIP eligibility standards and extended CHIP funding until October 1, 2015. The Affordable Care Act also provides an additional $40 million in federal funding to continue efforts to encourage enrollment in Medicaid and CHIP. Working to keep children healthy is something that all governmental opponents can agree on. Medicaid and CHIP together provides health care coverage for low income families. Both of these programs are jointly financed by the states and the federal government, but are largely administered by the states within extensive federal rules. Funding for this program is set to expire at the end of September of 2015. Although these programs differ in many ways, including financing, benefits and cost sharing, it s very beneficial to many children whose parents make too much money to qualify for Medicaid, but not enough for private health insurance. Even though I believe policing in Ontario is good, there can obviously be changes or enhancements in order to be more effective. First off, Ontario needs to recognize aboriginal policing as a fully fledged police force. Not only are they more effective than regular police, they are also the preferred policing amongst the aboriginal people themselves. One of the most important aspects the police have to work on is community support and trust. They need to reach out and communicate with the communities. The three major Confucian philosophers whom used the idea of Li to shape their theories were Confucius, Mencius, and Xunzi. There would be no chaos due to lack of basic needs because the everyone in the society was fulfilling their personal role, whether it be to provide food or provide governance. Confucius also put a large emphasis on the Zhou kings of the past, calling them sage kings and praising their ability to keep order through promoting Li to their subjects, which caused peace and security to their fellow man (The Analects, 22). Mencius, a stark follower of Confucius s teachings, viewed Li in a different light. Living in the time called the Warring State Period, Mencius saw the discourse and chaos that Confucius had worked hard to fight against. While rulers fought amongst themselves for power, Mencius sought to find what was the cause of this chaos and what could alleviate it. Mencius had a nearly identical description of Li as Confucius, yet his Li was largely tied in with human nature and the internal struggle to be a moral person. Li was just one of the ... • 35. Zootopi Is It Better To Live Together Creatively Or... Zootopia is a mammal metropolis populated by anthropomorphic mammals where predators and prey species, peacefully coexist and work together. These animals have no intentions on eating each other and there are minimum conflicts between them. I do not think, that animals would be able to survive together without eating or harming each other in real life. There are many factors that keep animals from living together peacefully. These factors include survival instincts, food supplies, climate and the animal s temperament. The fact that we will never be able to make animals understand that working together can be beneficial for them can also be something that keeps them from living together peacefully. Polar bears live in very cold climates and zebras live in hot, dry climates. Another issues is the animal s temperament. Some animals are more violent than others. Lions for example, are a lot more violent than bunnies and they can cause a lot more damage. It would be very hard to teach them that violence is not always needed, because it is in their instincts. As of now, we do not have a good way to communicate with animals. It would be impossible for us to get animals to understand that living together peacefully can be a good thing. • 39. The American Common School Movement Introduction While many different types of schools and educational movements have influenced the American education system that we have today, two primary influences are the American common school movement and the Latin grammar school movement. Common schools were first started in the 1830 s and 1840 s and consisted of a universal curriculum with multiple types of schools. They were also provided by the government. The Latin grammar schools came into being around the 1870 s to 1900 s and were used as secondary education to prepare young men for college. While both schools have different characteristics that contribute to the differences of them, they also have similarities such as their curriculum that make them alike. Common Schools Background When a person imagines the typical one room school house or similar educational buildings, the type of schools that they are picturing are common schools. Common Schools were one of the first organized schools that were established by Horace Mann and Henry Barnard. Additionally, Thomas Jefferson influenced the start of common schools in some perspective s. Common schools were available for everyone and supported by taxes payed by citizens. While Latin grammar schools only accepted men, common schools accepted girls into their schools without any judgement towards them. (Wagoner Urban, 2008). Latino Music Essay I have grown up listening to Hip Hop just as I did listening to my mother s blaring Bachata and Merengue every Sunday morning and from what I can recall, the artists I primarily listened to were black, or Eminem. The only Spanish rappers I did listen to were Reggaeton artists, meaning I did not listen to many predominately English speaking Latino rappers. This revelation of my early musical tastes begs the question as to why I was not exposed to more Latino rappers during the late nineties and early millennium. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... African American acceptance of Latino culture stems largely from similar experiences of prejudice and shared African roots. In addition, black hip hop has included various Latino elements, illustrating growing acceptance and integrations between both parties. Various elements present in black hip hop include Spanglish lyrics, rumba rhythms (Morales 300 301), and the celebration and desire for a Latina woman, who shares similar physique to African American women (Rivera 131 132). In examining Latino Hip Hop history, an overall theme of inclusion and exclusion emerges, where Latinos are included if they provide something desirable and marketable and excluded due to their ethnicity. Because of this, the need to affirm Latin identity becomes a necessity in order to solidify the Latino presence within the genre. Latino rap takes on the Latin American experience and builds upon to tell poetic stories of pride, unity, and discrimination throughout Latino history. This theme of being proud of one s roots plays a central role in how Spanish speaking rappers may or may not conduct themselves. After all four of the antibiotics were placed in each dish with tweezers, they were incubated overnight. The next day, we measured the zone of inhabitance around each antibiotic disc. I had two statements in my hypothesis. If S. epi is gram positive, then penicillin, streptomycin, and tetracycline will be effective on it because each one reacts with gram positive bacteria. If E. coli is gram negative, then streptomycin and tetracycline will be effective on it because each one reacts with gram positive bacteria. • 44. An Analysis Of Zora Neale Hurston s Trifles By Susan... In a male dominated society, women were believed to be fragile weaklings that depended on men in order to survive and find happiness. In fact, they were seen as nothing more than selfless wives and mothers. The seemingly perfect wife then, was characterized by her dutifulness and obedient demeanor. This notion of male supremacy was undoubtedly the predominant basis of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Rendered unable to voice their own opinions, women then turned to pen and paper as a way to communicate their thoughts. From this, arose the following pieces: Kate Chopin s short story The Story of an Hour, Emily Dickinson s poem She rose to His Requirement dropt, Susan Glaspell s play Trifles, and Zora Neale Hurston s novel ... The story takes place during the harsh and relentless winter, serving as a key symbol since Mrs. Hale describes Mr. Wright as a raw wind that gets to the bone (Glaspell 19). In this sense, the desolate environment outside parallels the atmosphere inside the Wright s home. The cold presence of her husband has confined Mrs. Wright and created a loneliness that was unbearable, leading her to eventually murder him. While Glaspell communicates women s view of marriage through significance of the canary and setting, Chopin makes use of the symbolism in Mrs. Mallard s room door along with the front door of her home to illustrate the struggles that women during her time. • 45. U.s. Labor Policy Proposal Essay Labor Policy Proposal Presented by Institution Introduction Many people have no idea of what they expect to achieve after retirement when asked about their retirement plans. The government s policies about retirement do not cater for the well being of retirees creating a lot of worry for the life after employment. The increasing number of employees demanding cover by government pension programs and the current decline in the retirement income levels contributes to the change of the American pension landscape (Heiland and Li, 2012). The United States of America developed labor laws during the time when the country s economy was independent and self contained. The main aim of U.S. labor policy was to get rid of different challenges affecting employees and improve their lifestyle in order to enjoy working in a suitable environment. Additionally, the labor policy aimed at protecting American workers by law and protecting certain human rights. According to Dugas (2013), despite the growing economy in U.S. more than 28 percent of American workers lack confidence with the current labor policy on retirement. The research conducted by the Employment Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) in 2013 revealed that most workers are not sure of saving money for retirement. The above information calls upon a recommendation of labor policy about retirement that would fulfill the demands of workers. The proposed policy will bring change to the Public Employees Retirement Fund ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Scarlet Letter Individuality In The Scarlet Letter, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, the story of a flawed woman is told in such an explicitly detailed way that it manages to exemplify the individuality of the tale. As author Thomas Hardy states, A story must be exceptional enough to justify its telling; it must have something more unusual to relate than the ordinary experience of every average man and woman. The seven years of Hester Prynne s life that The Scarlet Letter reminisces about is such a strange and exquisite story that uses both the irregularity of such events, and the period of time in which it takes place, to keep the reader intrigued. The rarity of this story that Hawthorne seamlessly stumbled upon during his time in the custom house and the talent of the aforementioned author in his writing skills, leads to a timeless tale worthy of the papers it is placed upon. In the period of time in which the story takes place, scandals between people and their relationships were extremely rare and almost unheard of. If you skip forward a couple hundred years, cheating and other things that were once unimaginable now happen all the time. The reaction of citizens in her town shows the outrage that occurred towards such an uncommon event, with one lady saying, This woman brought shame upon us all, and ought to die.
