After these expenses, the bank account was left with $4,000 in cash on March 31. Carmen
decided to expand by selling custom designed ribbon table arrangements for special events. As a
result Carmen she purchased a used sewing machine for $1,800 cash on May 1.
The investors asked Carmen to provide a financial report covering March 1st June 30th. Upon
review of this information, Carmen gathered the following. Customers paid $7,400 in cash for
ribbons and accessories, but she was still owed $320 for a transaction on June 30. A part time
employee was still owed $90 after being paid $1,510. Rent was paid in cash at the end of each
month. Inventory replenishments costing $2,900 had been delivered and paid for by June 30.
Carmen estimated the June 30th merchandise inventory on hand had cost $4,100. Opening office
supplies were almost all gone with an estimated $20 in supplies was left.
Carmen did not know why Ribbons an Bows cash on June 30 was $3,390, which was less than
the April 1 balance of $4,000. She also had trouble accounting for the following in her financial
report. No interest had been paid on the investors loan. Related expenditures on the sewing
machine and her computer could prove to have estimated useful lives of 5 and 2 years
respectively with no resale value. She did not know how to account for the free legal work and
cash register provided. She also had not paid herself dividends for the four months of operations. If

Dance Monologue
For as long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated with dance, especially ballet. As a
child I would stand in front of the TV, watching ballerinas in tutus twirl across the stage, attempting
to copy their leaps and pirouettes. I dreamed about the possibility of that dancer being me one day.
I had no idea how much that dream would eventually shape my life.
In sixth grade, I began ballet. I had no idea how challenging ballet could be, but I also had no idea
how much I would grow to love it. And that love is what gave me the determination to keep
growing, and keep advancing, no matter how hard it got.
Once I entered high school I would often spend 20+ hours a week at my dance studio teaching
classes, taking as many classes as I could, and training by myself whenever the studio was open. I
joined a dance performance company, and each year I trained for the Royal Academy of Dance
dance examinations. Ballet became a huge part of my life, and it taught me many more lessons than
just how to pliГ© or pirouette. It taught me determination, commitment, and what it means to
follow a passion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These were the days that it would have been easier to stay at home, or to only give ten percent in
class. These were also the days that defined my determination and character. Would I be the
person in life always looking for an excuse to quit, or would I be the one to work harder the
harder it became? This is a lesson that has shaped the person I am today, even outside of the dance
room. I always want to be someone who gives one hundred percent to everything I set my mind to,
even when it gets

Medical Care At The United States
Summary Medical care in the United States is complex at the individual provider level, at the
system level, and at the national level. While managed care works to streamline medical services,
and integrate systems, integration within safety net hospital systems providers that deliver a
significant level of care to vulnerable patients (Ko Et Al, 2015) and community health centers is
still undergoing transition. Although policymakers have worked to promote integration in large
hospital systems, and have been widely successful, integration among safety net providers and
health care centers for the uninsured, Medicaid and underinsured populations remains largely
fragmented. The study conducted by Michelle Ko, Julie Murphy and Andrew Bindman, in late
2015, aimed to address the challenges of integration between the two systems and propose ways to
implement integration within safety net hospitals and community health centers. In order to do so
Ko Et Al designed a qualitative study in which recognized leadership executives of five sites were
interviewed on their experiences with service integration. The interviews were projected to last up
to an hour and consisted of open ended question that allowed for participants to highlight what they
felt were the challenges to successfully implemented integrated systems within their organizations
and what strategies they implemented to effectively navigate the challenges. This study method
allowed for the researchers to identify conflicts

The Benefits Of NCAA College Football
The 2016 NCAA College Football Playoff Championship game aired January 11, 2016, to an
audience of over twenty five million people (Consoli). A thrilling game saw the Alabama
Crimson Tide win their fourth championship in the past seven years, defeating the Clemson
Tigers of South Carolina. Coverage of the game was provided by sports media behemoth ESPN,
which had agreed to pay 5.64 billion dollars over ten years, or 470 million dollars per year, for the
exclusive rights to broadcast the game (Hinnen, par. 3). Advertisements greeted viewers at every
opportunity, whether it be the sponsored segments during the broadcast (i.e. the Buick Halftime
Report ) or commercials during breaks in the contest. By the end of the game , millions of dollars...

Trashing The Workplace
Organizational Behavior Beyond Flextime: Trashing the Workweek J.A. Counter s ROWE
program includes influence tactics as well as a couple of power bases. The influence tactics
prevalent in this case are soft tactics because they are worker friendly and not coercive at all.
Inspirational appeals are present in this case because the decision to incorporate ROWE into the
work environment at J.A. Counter is a direct approach to appealing to all employees. They are no
longer bound by set days and times to be present at their jobs but rather given the motivation to
complete their tasks by a certain time but at their own pace, hours chosen, and days preferred. This
tactic is used to appeal to the employee s. Consultation is another... Show more content on

Skoglund has enabled employees to now make decisions about their work days and
performance. She has done away with mandatory hours and days that undoubtedly held time
constraints for specific tasks to be completed. The employees now have freedom to decide when
and for how long they will attend their job (physically). In implementing the ROWE program,
Skoglund has given all employees authority to make decisions. Skoglund s decision to
implement the ROWE program has given the employees major say in the workplace, mainly
focused on their personal desire to come and go as they please and work the hours they
themselves decide. In most organizations, this seems an invitation to chaos but according to this
case, it has increased productivity therefore I do not feel employee empowerment has been taken
too far. The goal of employee empowerment is to increase productivity and competitiveness
(Kreitner amp; Kinicki) and in this case, that goal has thus far been met. This could also be
defined as participative management. J.A. Counter has successfully established a balance between
the employee s self interests and the organizations interests by incorporating the ROWE program.
The ROWE program will have a positive impact at J.A. Counter because the owner has
intentionally enhanced the self interest of the employees (p. 452). The ROWE program alleviates
any challenges in the amount of power any employee has over another; they are all given

World war I is considered one of the bloodiest wars ever...
World war I is considered one of the bloodiest wars ever fought in the history of the world. A
major contributor to the death toll of this war was the new tactic of trench warfare. Trench warfare
is a battle strategy using man made trenches and weapons to attack and take the enemy s trench.
This battle strategy combined with the use of new war technology, and the living conditions in the
trenches resulted in one of the deadliest wars ever fought by mankind.
For about four years France and Germany used trench war as their war tactic. The soldiers were
told to dig the trenches for temporary shelter from gunfire. The trenches would provide a sufficient
amount of cover as long as a soldier would duck. The trenches where long zig zagging ... Show

Another way that this was an inefficient method was the tedious action of putting on masks. In
1916 tanks started being used as an offensive battle method. At first they were used incorrectly by
the british, but in 1917 they helped them shatter a six mile front. The tanks were deadly and almost
invincible when used correctly.
The technology used to defend the army against the attacking enemy also used different weapons.
For example, Barbed wire would protect against enemy attacks on the trenches. The barbed wire
was a very intimidating tactic to the soldiers because of the fear of becoming entangled. If a trench
is taken over, there are second and third lines of trenches that the soldiers can retreat to. When their
trench is taken over, the army that was pushed back would try to regain their trench and advance
upon the enemy.
The living conditions in the trenches where never sufficient enough for living in, especially
when the soldiers had to stay in them for a few years. The trenches where just ditches in the
ground with no sleeping arrangements. Many of the soldiers would go days without sleep. The
rations of food that the soldiers received were often boring and sometimes inedible because they
were rarely given fresh food. This would limit a soldier s stamina in battle and make it more likely
for that soldier to get killed. The

Essay about Comapring Porters 5 Forces for the Airline...
Assignment # 1
Strategic Practice Exercise: (page #81)
1. Score each competitive force in the airline industry and provide a brief rationale for your
assessment.
В·Rivalry Among Existing Firms: (High)
When one major company in an industry makes a change in costs or services that could
potentially increase their clientele, a major competitor almost always follows suit. Price matching
is a prime example of that, therefore the threat is high. West Jet is one company that offers flights
at a discount and forced Air Canada to create new banners to compete with the discounted prices.
All major companies and firms in an industry watch each other s every move very carefully, and
match any move with a countermove. During slow season in the airline ... Show more content on

Therefore, the threat of substitution is a significant factor in the airline industry. However, if a
customer has to travel very quickly or a significant distance, that person would most likely choose
the flight option instead of a cheaper alternative.
В·Bargaining Power of Buyers/Distributors: (Medium)
Bargaining power is a tricky one because it can work both ways. Buyers have a certain level of
power in any industry. A buyer may switch suppliers very easily if there are no penalties and it is
cost effective for them. If a large firm makes a large purchase of goods from another firm, it may
be mutually beneficial and if serviced well, have the potential for repeat business. However, the
buyer then has the power to use a substitute or competitor which would negatively affect the
seller. Buyers are always the more powerful of the two because some buyers have the ability to
put pressure on lower costs from suppliers, while demanding an increase of the quality of
products or services provided to them. Also, the bargaining power in industries with high fixed
costs like the airline industry can play a big factor. On the other hand, things like jet engines, tires
and other key safety devices on aircrafts can cause severe consequences if this equipment
malfunctions. For that reason, the buyer has a reduced amount of bargaining power with suppliers
in this industry. The bargaining power of buyers is both high and low, so I ranked it medium.

Public Education versus Private Education Essay
Public education has been able to provide the necessary education to students, despite its limited
capabilities. Students are offered the same education in public schools as they are in private
schools. Students make their choice on whether or not they want to apply themselves, and learn
from the teachers in front of them. In private schools students are excited to learn. Maybe that is
why they have better test scores. Students enrolled in public schools have a tendency to fail, or
some succeed. These options are taken by students who who either try, or do not care. Either way,
every student has an equal opportunity to gain an education. In To Kill A Mockingbird, many
examples can be seen about public education, and how things... Show more content on

Success rate is also higher within the private educational area. This is because these students are
already at a higher learning level, and are ready for the college preparatory type classes (Walker
1). Students in the public school area are not always ready for the higher level thinking that it
takes to do college level classes. Public school was not highly advanced in the 1930 s. Teachers
tried to stick kids in the same class when either a certain student could be above that level or
below that level. In Scout s case, she was way above the standards of the class she was
associated with (Lee 17 20). Other students in that class did not even know how to read, and
Scout could read and write. She could write in cursive, let alone print (Lee 17 20). This is
another reason why Scout s teacher was insistent that Scout should stop learning outside of school
and class. Now there are many ways to separate these two classes of students. Public schools have
begun to incorporate a Challenge Program. It is a program for those students who are able to go
above and beyond (Hauser 1). Also, these places are starting to become better equipped to handle
students who require extra attention, or special needs kids. Schools are starting to better include all
students who attend there.

†the Labour Governments of 1964-1970 Were More Successful...
The Labour governments of 1964 1970 were more successful than the Labour governments of
1974 1979. How far do you agree? Both of the Labour Governments had some great successes,
for instance, the 1964 1970 Labour government won the 1966 election with a majority of 100
seats. The Labour government of 1974 1979 did not win the election with a majority but
managed to reduce inflation in 1978 from 15% to 8% which was a very large success as inflation
had been a problem for a long time. Just from looking at the two governments you assume that the
1964 1970 labour government was more successful than the 1974 1979 labour government because
they were in power for longer, and they won with a much larger majority of seats in the elections....

In 1976 Wilson retired and Callaghan took over his role as Prime Minister despite the fact that
Wilson had managed to win both of the elections in 1974 (The February and October elections).
Wilson s government managed to win the 1964 election after 13 years of the opposition being in
power, he decided to do something new and present himself as an average Yorkshire man, and he
even changed his first name to Harold as it sounds more working class. The people wanted
something new and this is what Wilson presented them with. The 1964 election was won with a
majority of thirteen seats, and in 1966 Labour won with a majority 110 seats. That was a vast
improvement from the 1964 election. The Labour government of 1974 1979 also won two
elections, the 1974 February election and the 1974 October election, however both were won by
a minority. The February election was won by 4 seats and the October election was won by 42
seats. The reason for the slim win is to do with inflation. The Labour governments of 1974 1979
were in office at a bad time because Britain had started to suffer from huge inflation because of
the oil price rise in 1973, and so voters didn t have a clear decision on which they were going to
vote for. This shows that at the moment the 1964 1970 Labour Government was more successful
by far because of their majority of 110 seats in the 1966 election. In 1967 the Labour Government
of 1964 1970 was forced to devalue the pound.

Thetis, a sea nymph. They did not invite Eris, the goddess of discord, to the wedding but they did

The first ship was commanded by his son. However the other 49 were toy clay ships with toy
clay soldiers. Tactics used in the war One tactic is that the soldiers would line up tightly and link
their shields together. The first few ranks would project their spears. In doing this it made
frontal assaults by the enemy much more difficult. This tactic was called the turtle attack . The
main tactic used in this war was trickery. The Greeks won the war using this which I will tell you
about later. Weapons used in the war Some weapons used in the war were the spear, sword, and
shield. The spear was 8.8 feet long with an iron spearhead. It was the most commonly used
weapon. These were used for their long reach. The sword was used only when the spears were
all gone. They were called xiphos. These had a straight blade with a double edge. The shield was
wood with a thin layer of bronze all over. These were used to deflect strikes. The end In the end
the Greeks won by using trickery. All the Greek ships departed and went into hiding, giving the
Trojans the thought that they had won. The Greeks left a peace offering of a wooden horse.
Inside the horse was a small army of about thirty Greek soldiers. One of whom was Odysseys.

whether to burn it or worship it. They decided to bring it into their city. In the middle of the night

The Legend Of Luna, Luna And The Legend Of The Teddy Bear
Once there was a girl named Luna. Luna was a girl in the 1960 s who was given a designer
teddy bear. Luna was very attached to this teddy bear and took it everywhere. However, she was
an orphan girl and she had no care for anyone. Her life was hard and she wished she didn t have
to live in this life. Only two weeks later, something tragic had happened, that no one saw coming.
A girl was reported sleepwalking and had knocked over a candle and set the orphanage on fire
during the night.
Luna died in this fire, but the teddy bear survived. Luna s body was buried with the teddy bear.
Everyone who had known Luna, other homeless girls, people who came to adopt other girls, etc.
came and paid their respects. The locals had a legend about the bear, however. They saw it
unnatural for something made of soft cotton to survive such a fire.
The local s legend was, that the teddy bear made the girl set the house on fire, because he wanted
a new master. A new child to take care care of it? But who would believe that?
Now it is the year 2000, and there is a boy named Trevor who was going to the graveyard to see the
grave of his dead mother. He paid his respects at his mother s grave. He looked up from the grave
and saw the teddy bear. It was a dark brown color with a ripped ear. The stuffed bear was wearing a

Cosimo De Medici s Influence On Florence
The Medici family earned their status by commerce rather than warfare, marriage or inheritance,
and they were the first princely dynasty to do so. Cosimo de Medici never held office, but ran
Florence through his wealth and strategic mind from 1434 1537. He played a large part in the
patronage of the arts and the political development of the city. His patronage allowed men to
achieve such impressive architecture. Brunelleschi, for example, who restored the church at San
Lorenzo. Cosimo centered the city around cultural and creative achievements. He allowed Florence
to enter the age of the Renaissance by proving himself and his policies to the people, and making
the citizens of Florence proud.
Cosimo de Medici was born on September 27, 1389 in the city of Florence, Italy. He was also
known as Cosimo the Elder, Cosimo il Vecchio (Italian), and Pater Patriae (Latin), meaning Father

Introduction . The Prevalence, Affects, And Types Of Stigma
Introduction The prevalence, affects, and types of stigma and stigmatization felt by American gang
members is an under researched topic in the social sciences. While daily experiences in and social
understanding of American culture illustrate that gang membership is a stigmatized identification
the research to support that notion is sorely absent from the greater conversation on gangs, stigma,
and violence in our communities. In an attempt to understand how stigma directly affects gang
affiliated men this report attempts to analyze different elements that directly connect to these men
in hopes of creating an understanding of the stigma that gang involved men feel. These topics are
social stigma, a sense of belonging, and the influence of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hypothesis states that belonging holds two foundational elements the first, there is a need for
frequent, affectively pleasant interactions with a few other people and second these interactions
must take place in the context of a temporally stable and enduring framework of affective concern
for each other s welfare (Baumeister Leary, 1996). Gangs commonly fulfill these two elements.
Burnett states that a gangs, formation and maintenance are based on its members bared
experience of estrangement from traditional social systems and on the security (emotional and
physical) that membership provides (McMillan Chavis) (Burnett, 1999) . The gang s acceptance
of the man and the subsequent sense of family satisfies the need for affectively pleasant
interactions (McMillan Chavis, 1986), and the desire for protection (Regan) and the ability of
gangs to provide such protection secures a man s sense that his welfare is a concern of those with
whom he feels acceptance. As Baumsiester and Leary s article illustrates belonging is so necessary
to personal happiness that those who experience social isolation are bared from experiencing high
levels of happiness (Baumeister Leary). While gang membership might not provide happiness in the
traditional sense they do quench the human need to belong. This need for acceptance and belonging

4.1. Overview of the tradable green certificates system
The support system for renewable energy in Romania, i.e. quota system with tradable green
certificates, was launched in 2004 in order to achieve two goals: to reduce the prices for
consumers and to protect the generators of renewable electricity. Wind energy, solar energy,
biomass, micro hydro and geothermal energy are all sources of energy that can be supported by
this system [68].
The trading of green certificates is ensured by OPCOM (green certificates market operator) who
establishes the prices on the centralized market of green certificates. The green certificates are sold
on the green certificates market, independently from electricity sold on the electricity market. The

Renewable electricity producers operate both on the electricity market (as producers of electricity),
and on the green certificates market (as owners of green certificates). If they do not fulfill the
annual mandatory quota, then they have to pay a penalty equal to the value of the green certificates
not purchased. The payment is made to Transelectrica S.A., who is the power grid company.
The evolutions of the Romanian economy and energy sector, as well as the international trends
have induced the necessity of updating the strategies, policies, plans and programs previously
developed. The Romanian Energy Strategy for the period 2007 2020 updated for the period 2011
2020 states as the overall objective of the energy sector to meet the energy needs both now and in
the medium and long term, at the lowest possible price, suitable for a modern economy, and a
decent standard of living, in terms of quality and energy security, respecting the principles of
sustainable development [61]. Having in mind the role of energy in society and in all economic
sectors, the development of this sector is made under the supervision of the state, through the
development and the implementation of the sector strategy.
For the promotion of renewable energy sources the strategy envisages the following measures [61]:

Historical questions:
В· SLIDE 1: Specifics of the historical topic or issue
1. WHO was involved?
The two groups involved in this historical issue were factory workers and business owners.
Business owners who had selfish ideals and didn t care about the safety of their employees because
they were clouded by greed.
2. WHAT happened?
During this time factory workers faced harsh working conditions and had low paying wages.
They weren t given basic rights as workers and they were certainly not protected. The conditions
they had to work in were horrible having due that there weren t any reliable emergency exits and
they were exposed to unsafe, dangerous equipment. In many cases workers lost limbs or were

This is when the US started overflowing with new urban cities, where factories were built. New
technologies and machines were introduced during this time, which made the US the ideal trading
partner. This drastic advancement led to overproduction but most importantly it caused the blood
and tears of deprived factory workers.
В· SLIDE 3: Causation
8. Why did it happen?
I believe that this event happened because of the ideology, Laissez Fare. This ideology supported
the privacy and liberty to all business owners. In other words the government was not actively
involved in the way these owners ran their factories and they were most definitely not concerned
with how factory workers were treated. Instead government officials ignored the problems within
these factories and showed zero importance towards workers well being. There did not exist any
laws or rules that limited business owners authorities of their factories.
9. How did the context/events of the time period lead to this event?
The need for advancing and introducing mass production is what enabled such event to occur.
Without this need, factories probably wouldn t have been created and business owners wouldn t
have reasons to act

John Brown Research Paper
Hello Everyone,
John Brown was a revolutionary abolitionist who felt very strongly about ending slavery. He was
born in 1800 and died in 1859. His birthplace was Torrington, Connecticut. He belonged to a very
loving family with very strong anti slavery beliefs. He tied the knot twice and brought forth 20
children from those unions.
Brown had several business endeavors that failed. In 1842 he filed bankruptcy. He began working
as a conductor with the Underground Railroad in order to support the abolitionist cause. He also
started the League of Gileadites, which was organized to aid runaway slaves fleeing to Canada. He
later moved to a free black farming community in New York.
In 1856, at the age of 55, Brown and his sons moved to Kansas Territory, John Brown
accompanied by a small army of his four sons and two other men set out along the Pottawatomie
Creek and brutally murdered five men and boys whom they believed were promoting slavery. Later

Banana Reef Bananas Essay
Banana farms along the Johnstone river, sending the reef bananas?
Location and current status
The Johnstone River catchment in far North Queensland is one of many rivers that is destroying
the great barrier reef, it and many other rivers in North Queensland are the home to banana and
sugarcane farms. When the area gets large amounts of rainfall, sediments run off the farms and
into the Jonstone or other rivers it has been placed next to for irrigation. The sediment contains
nutrients, nitrogen and chemicals meant to rid the farms of pests and increase productivity. These
all enter the river and eventually the sea. To Quote Martin Cunningham The Johnstone river has
died the sediment is causing the animals that usually live in the river to die or leave, the birdlife
is dieing down and it is getting progressively harder to fish in the river. Other people say that the
Johnstone river is not dieing, there is a large crocodile population. They say that there must be
plenty of life in the river for the crocodiles, if there wasn t the crocodile s would leave.

Brown Sugar Solubility
The ability a substance has of dissolving is known as, solubility. Solute, is the substance being
dissolved, while solvent is the substance in which the solute is being dissolved in. The final
product of a solute and solvent mixing together is known as, a solution. Considering the fact that
the research question states that the purpose of this experiment is to understand how the mass of
brown sugar effects the time it takes to dissolve in 50ml of water, the solute of this experiment
would be brown sugar, while the solventwould be the 50ml of water. Five different masses of

One of the main purpose of any type of sugar is to act as sweeteners, therefore they are found in
many kitchens throughout the world. Sugar also plays a huge part in reactions occurring, since it
assists in important chemical reactions that take place whist cooking and/or baking. Sugar has the
ability to act as a solute in many solutions, for example they have the ability to dissolve in water,
therefore they are soluble. This is because when sugar is placed in water, the sucrose molecule
start breaking from the sugar crystal, and begin to immediately get surrounded by water
molecules, and eventually bond with the water molecules. The fact that the negative and positive
areas on the sucrose molecules attract the polar water molecules, is also why sugar dissolves in
water. Therefore in theory, the larger the amount(mass) of sugar placed in water, the longer the
sugar should take to dissolve completely, since there would be more sucrose molecules to bond
with the water molecules. The concept of brown sugar dissolving in water is relevant to real life,
due to the fact that this solution is constantly created by numerous people as a part of their daily

Complications Of Obesity In America
Over time, America has become the most overweight country in the world. The lifestyle of
having home cooked meals every night has changed into the lifestyle of having people drive to
fast food places and grab something quick for dinner without thinking whether or not it is a
healthy choice. With many Americans realizing the obesity rate is increasing in both adults and
children, many are trying to act upon it. Whether it is through a New Year s resolution to lose
weight, or The First Lady s effort to change school lunches, more people are finally beginning to

How Did The Parthenon Contribute To The Pantheon
The Parthenon in Athens and the Pantheon in Rome have both made significant contributions in
architecture throughout the years from when they were built. They have also been important in
helping us understand the cultures of the Greeks and Romans during the times the two buildings
were constructed.
Right from its name it is fairly obvious that the Parthenon was built as a dedication to Athena, the
patron deity of Athens. The name Parthenon derives from one of Athena s epithets: Athena
Parthenos. Parthenon therefore means house of Parthenos . From the 4th century BCE, the whole
building acquired the name Parthenon. (M. Cartwright, 2012) The Parthenon was both a temple
and a treasury. These two functions tremendously influenced its design. There is evidence that the
temple was built to measure in order to accommodate the chryselephantine statue of Athena by
Pheidius. (M. Cartwright, 2012) The Greeks had a very extensive mythology which they took very
seriously. Due to this, building of the Parthenon was a form of gratitude to Athena for helping them
win the war.
Features of the Parthenon are from both the Doric and Ionic orders. The Parthenon s aesthetic
appeal emanates from the refinement of many established norms of Greek architecture and ... Show

The Endocrinology Of Male And Female Reproduction
Reproductive physiology is comprised of many tightly coordinated functions of the endocrine
system including the hypothalamus, pituitary and reproductive organs whose dynamic function
plays several critical roles in growth and development as well was reproduction. The hypothalamic
pituitary gonadal axis plays a critical role in the development and regulation of the reproductive
system. These tightly regulated functions within the pituitary must respond to continuously
changing signals from the central nervous system gonads and provide the quick responses. The
hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis is comprised of major hormones, including gonadotropin
releasing hormone(GnRH), luteinizing hormone(LH) and follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) and
operate through both positive and negative feedback loops in mammals.1 When toxicants affect any
part of this axis s function, either by altering cellular activity or the signals themselves, the
physiology can impacted by immediate and downstream effects. An understanding of the
endocrinology of male and female reproduction, is required to understand how toxicological effects
can have severe consequences on reproductive physiology.
GnRH is a prominent reproductive hormone that is produced in neural cells in the hypothalamus.
GnRH is secreted into the bloodstream where it is carried downstream to the pituitary gland and
activates the Gonadotropin Releasing hormone receptor. 2 Once these cells are activated, signal

Comparing Bare-Nosed Wombats And Water

snow tussocks for Bare nosed wombats and spear and perennial grasses for Southern Hairy nosed

tender grass shoots when available. Bare nosed wombats also forage for foodalong the seashore.
During droughts they also tend to dig up dead grass to get to the roots. Wombats must also
conserve energy because their diet is low in protein and high in fiber. Since Hairy nosed wombats

Essay on Ghost on the Throne Book Review
James Romm wrote Ghost on the Throne with the purpose to inform the reader of Alexander the
Great and the empire he established, with the ensuing chaos the came after when Alexander
tragically died at a young age. The book was organized somewhat chronologically, starting from
opening the tombs in which Alexander was buried and how he fell ill, to the closing of the tombs
and a reflection of the fall of his empire. Romm tried to answer the question of how Alexander
died, providing multiple theories of how and why he died. Romm seemed to advocate the theory of
poison from Alexander s enemies, including the fact that many people wanted to see Alexander
dead. Romm also explained in great detail how the empire fell; the countries wanted to... Show

The people were devastated and afraid that they had lost him. The two ideas are relevant to each
other and support the author s idea; that Alexander was perceived as a God to his people.
However, the switch in time periods makes the book more difficult to understand than if it was
explained chronologically. Romm did go into much detail about Alexander: he explained
Alexander s family history, his top advisors, his love life, his illness, and over all Alexander s
personality. Romm describes Alexander s family history and how he came to assume the throne
after his father was assassinated. Romm provided historical evidence of Alexander s family
through the opening of Alexander s tombs and sculptures found of other members of his family.
Also mentioned were Alexander s top military advisors and closest friends, known as the
Successors. Detail was provided that they did not try to succeed the king for the first seven years
after Alexander s death. They wanted his power, but not the throne. This supported the author s
idea of people desiring power but how they were conflicted with their respect for Alexander.
Romm discussed Alexander s marriages as well as his quest to conquer, showing a different side
of Alexander. Alexander is mostly portrayed with a great work ethic, imbued with a great desire.
Through his last days, however, Romm expresses more of

Antidepessants are a blessing for me. I have been taking an antidepressant for 16 years, and have

The Ethics Of A Pharmaceutical Company
In order to view ethical dilemmas, we have to evaluate descriptive ethics that are present in a
situation. These descriptive ethics lay the foundation, to which, we are able to understand a
circumstance in its entirety. They are the concrete evidence where we can access all ethical
boundaries and establish what is considered morally inhabitable. What causes us to question
morality, the principles that help us determine right from wrong and good or bad (Beauchamp
2), is that the livelihood of a person or a group of people are at stake. In the medical field,
morality is questioned with every decision that is made. Everyone hopes for the best outcome.
With this outcome, individual roles can be questioned. Who made the right decision, was it just
and how does it affect the people around me or even them. Martin Shkreli is the CEO of a

was the main problem. They should focus on higher class people who can afford better quality
phone with better features and application. If they starting doing it again I am sure people will
again attracts to Nokia phones and the company will start once again.
Financial Analysis
From the case we came to learn the income statement of Nokia from year 1989 to 2012. Where
we can see that when they started there were loss but later they started increasing but in 2009 it
again falls. Due to some reason it started rising again in 2010 but later they face huge loss. In

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Suresmile Technology
SureSmile has the highest reproducibility in comparison with other digital model such as emodel
and AnatoModel as it has the smallest mean squad error. The efficiency of the SureSmile is ranked
second as it take longer time to complete the tooth size measurement compared to emodel.
Orthodontists believe that the main advantage of SureSmile technology is that they have choices
to use their preferred bracket system, as well as it may increase precision in the finishing stage [1].
Besides, the customized wire can be created by getting information through intra oral scan or cone
beam computed tomography (CBCT)[11]. Several disadvantages can be seen in SureSmile
Technology. It includes the possibility of debonding of bracket after arch wire customization...

and 2,945 patients with conventional treatment. All the data of the patients were recorded including
treatment time, malocclusion class, patient age and patient visits. The patients with a complete data
were chosen for further analysis. The results approved that SureSmile technology have a greater
efficiency as the treatment time in SureSmile patient is shorter that conventional patients by
median of 8 months. All the variables including malocclusion class, age and patient visits in
SureSmile patient is shorter compared to conventional patients [2]. Saxe et al recently analysed a
total of 62 patients, SureSmile (38) and conventional (24) treated patients based on pre and post
treatment study. Discrepancy index (DI) and Objective Grading System (OGS) was determine by
the treatment study respectively. According to the ABO OGS scores, SureSmile showed a mean of
26.3 with a significant difference of 4.4 from conventional treatment with 30.7. Meanwhile, the
treatment time showed a difference of almost six months, SureSmile (14.7 months) and
conventionally (20.0 months). The level of difficulty which was measured using DI does not

Sermon At The Word Of Faith Christian Church Delivered By...
On Tuesday, November 26, I critically listened to a sermon at The Word of Faith Christian
Church delivered by Pastor Julius Stephens. It was a regular Tuesday bible study with about
eight people. Pastor Stephens s topic for the day was everybody has a purpose. In this paper, I
will critique Pastor Stephens s sermon based on its introduction, body, delivery, conclusion and
finally my overall reaction to his speech. The reason for the speakers sermon was to ensure his
audience realizes their worth.
Pastor Stephens speech introduction started with an attention getting device and then followed with
a Short anecdote which he used to further explain his topic. His attention getting device was the
quotation If you don t know the purpose of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To enable better understanding Pastor Stephens s maintained good volume in speaking marking
sure we didn t have to strain to hear him. He also made the sermon very interactive asking a lot
of question and asked the views of his audience on an issue in order to engage them. He
maintained good eye contact and didn t use a lot of hand gestures so he didn t distract his
audience from the topic. He used spoke audaciously, he took risks in saying things that may or
may not hurt people s feelings in order to pass his point effectively. The speaker also made use of
transition words this made his sermon coherent.
The body of the sermon was mostly centralized on the purpose of each and every one of us in the
church, the saying everything happens for a reason and his view on it. He stated that every
person in the church has a particular purpose. He used the example of a human s body stating that
every part of the body has particular purposes. He went further to say in the body of Christ some of
us maybe the legs, the eyes, the mouth, and the eyes of the church.
He said every one of us has a purpose in the church as every part of our body has a particular task
to perform. He said those of us who are evangelist are the mouth of the church; he said those of us
who are givers are the hands of the church, and those of us who have the money to sponsor the
movement of the gospel around the world are the feet. This example made me and other audience

Medical Jargon-Lost in Translation
Medical Jargon Lost in translation
Introduction
Imagine you went to a hospital complaining of a sore throat and runny nose, and this was the
diagnosis the Doctors and nurses came up with; ma am/sir, you are suffering for acute, mild, self
limiting catarrhal syndrome caused by rhinoviruses and coronaviruses . Envision you did not speak
or understand English and the doctor did not speak or understand your language, all this confusion
and misunderstanding because you re doctors language is more complex than your condition , on
the contrary all that you are suffering from is a common cold. The purpose of this essay is to state
previous problems with medicine and communication, and to provide some possible solutions to
those problems and prevent the problems reoccurring so people do not get lost in translation.
Community health worker programmes
In correlation to the above paragraph; In 1970 the CHW (community health worker program)
was set in motion, with a key element in achieving the WHO goal health for all by the year 2000
, (Van Ginneken, et al., 2010) However, interest waned from the 1980 and 1990 due to
government failure in areas where the programmes were depended on. In 1994, with the rise of a
new government, nearly all CHW programmes fell out of service as they were seen as a racial
infliction. The first CHW programmes helped malaria patients mostly, and in 2005 these programs
reemerged but focused on aiding patients diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. A possible

Defective Bacteria Experiment
Discussion and Conclusion: The original plates were swabbed with defective bacteria that did
not grow to show sufficient, so new plates were made in replacement and the following results
and conclusions are based off of observations from the new plates. The hypothesis stated earlier
was rejected by this experiment because in the hypothesis rubbing alcohol was predicted to have
the largest zone of inhibition, but according to the class and overall average, Betadine has the
largest zone of inhibition diameter at 42.2 mm for the class average and 39.6 mm for the overall
average. As shown in the graph and table, the largest diameter lengths in order from least to
greatest was Betadine with a class average of 42.2 mm and an overall average of 39.6... Show more
content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated in the introduction Betadine contains iodine which, through iodination, can quickly
kill the cells, whereas rubbing alcohol has to dehydrate the cell which takes longer than the
Betadine, thus explaining the result because of the ability of Betadine to kill more bacteria in a
less amount of time. Group 4 s was similar to all the other group except for rubbing
alcohol, which was 28.5 compared to the class overage of 20.6. The group that had the closest
result was Group 5, who got 27.0 mm. For rubbing alcohol, the zone of inhibition was an ellipse,
so the group decided to take the average of the longest and shorted diameters; therefore, two
possible sources of error could have been either in the measuring itself, or in the calculation of the
average. Taking the ideas from this experiment, some other tests could be proposed to investigate
the topic further. One experiment could be trying new products that have the same active
ingredient. The results would show whether the active ingredient has the largest effect or if the
bacterial growth is mainly affected by the combination of ingredients in a certain product. Another
experiment could be changing the bacteria. This experiment would reveal if the products are more
effective on a certain type of bacteria or if Betadine is the effective

Questions On Online Internet Marketing Essay
a.Rivalry (Among Competing Sellers)
CyberGold, NetCentives, and MyPoints are the three main online Internet marketing firm. All the
competitors offer similar services and products. Competition is based on a non price dimension
like marketing, brand, and search technology. Competitive rivalry is high as the cost of switching
firm is low. Because this is relatively new business, there are growth opportunities for economic of
scale in advertising. (Gamble Thompson, 2013)
b.Threat of New Entrance
Online Internet marketing has a low barrier to entry. Since the barrier is low, new entries should be
able to offer more incentives, lower marketing cost, and innovative new ideas to market the
advertiser products and service. The threat of new entrants is high because online advertising is
relative at its early stages and few online Internet marketing firm has set itself apart from its
competitor. (Gamble Thompson, 2013)
c.Threat of Substitute Products
The threat of substitute in the industry is weak. In term of mass marketing, the Internet can reach
far more people in every corner of the world. The market is still growing as more users are
coming online and new and improve technologies are improving the median we utilize to access
the net. Online advertising allows marketers to tailor the company s product and services to a
select market vice mass marketing. It provides benefits, cost saving, and flexibility that you can t

Health Plan Survey Paper
The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Health Plan Survey is a
tool used to collect standardized information that analyzes the experience of enrollees through
health plans and their services. The intent is to design a support system that assesses consumer s
performance with the healthplans and it allows them to choose the plan that best suits their needs. It
was first launched in 1997 and has now become the national standard when it comes to both
determining and reporting the experiences of consumers through their health plan. Almost every
state conducts this form of standardization and sponsors within the U.S. include health plans, state
agencies who regulate health care, as well as federal agencies, such as the Department of Defense
and Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services.
The health plans are also able to examine the information gathered in order to use it to their
advantage by identifying their weaknesses to target areas of improvement and building on their
strengths to ensure efficiency. The Health Plan Survey 5.0 version is an example of a standardized
measurement system used so that questionnaires, other optional ... Show more content on

purpose is to facilitate assessments made based on results from participants. The main benefit is
that it is a voluntary compilation of survey results that range from a large amount of data and
narrows it to a single database, so it can enable participants to compare their personal results with
the overall survey outcomes. In this case, the CAHPS Database intends on offering an important
source of quality as measured by CAHPS

Summary Of The Film The Linguists
The film The Linguists follows linguists Gregory Anderson and David Harrison on their journey to
learn about and document endangered languages in Bolivia, India, Arizona, and Siberia. Through
their quest, they are able to interact with some of the few remaining speakers of languages that are
near death and they manage to make an impact on how these communities view their heritage
language. Focusing on the moribund languagesof Siberia and Arizona, it becomes evident that
speakers of the heritage language feel a love for the language and the culture it represents, but
went through periods of oppression and embarrassment for being speakers of a minority
language that ultimately shaped their attitudes on the language. The film highlights the
Chemehuevi language of a Native American tribe in Arizona, where there is only one
remaining speaker. The speaker is forced to repeat words to himself and replay recordings in
Chemehuevi over and over again so that he can keep the language alive, since there is no one
else who knows the language. This exemplifies how drastically endangered this language is, as it
is only survived by one speaker. It is evident that this man has a love for his language and a
cultural attachment to it because he does not give up in keeping it alive, even if it means having to
talk to himself repeatedly. The local majority language that killed off Chemehuevi was English, as it
kept being imposed on younger generations until it was ultimately the only

The Role Of Genocide In Rwanda
In April of 1994, a terrible atrocity began in the African country of Rwanda where around eight
hundred thousand individuals were massacred over a time period of 100 brutal days. If thought
about in mathematical terms, this works out to about 333 deaths per hour; which is a rate of
deaths worse than what occurred during the Holocaust. (2) The term genocide is defined in the
United Nations Genocide Convention, established in 1948, as any of the following acts committed
with the intent to destroy in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, as such:
a) killing members of the group; b) causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the
group; c) deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to... Show more content on

had no idea that a genocide could occur in the small African nation.

Timothy Mcveigh Research Paper
On April 19, 1995, a man by the name of Timothy McVeigh carried out an attack that would leave
the United States, along with other countries, devastated. At 9:02 A.M, a truck bomb explosion
outside of the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, left 168 people dead and
hundreds more injured. Many people apprehend that McVeigh carried out this attack because he
was mentally unstable. He was actually thinking logically. McVeigh planned out the attack based
on his life experiences and by what he read in books. He retaliated against the government because
of his personal beliefs and he wanted to be recognized for the bombing. To begin with, Timothy
McVeighs childhood most likely carved out how Mcveigh would eventually end up at some
point later on down the line. At the age of ten, McVeigh s parents divorced and his father
continued to raise him in Pendleton, New York ( Timothy ). Most who knew McVeigh
remember him as being a very outgoing and playful child who withdrew as an adolescent (
Timothy ). The fact his parents were divorced might have had a major impact on McVeigh, which
is also a reason why he might have withdrawn as an adolescent. Also, at a young age McVeigh was
introduced to firearms by his grandfather. He quickly became interested in them, so interested that
his plans for college fell through and he enrolled in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Linkage Analysis Essay
As molecular genetic data became available, studies used them to understand human behaviors.
Below I briefly summarize the structure of human genome and introduce the genome wide
association studies (GWAS). In humans, 23 pairs of chromosome constitutes the human genome.
For each chromosome, the nucleotides on the opposite strands connected together to form tens of
thousands of base pairs. Normally, the bonds are either adenine thymine (A T) or guanine cytosine
(C G). These construct the double helix DNAstructure. A chunk of a chromosome that relates to
certain functions is a gene. The lengths of genes (i.e., a region of DNA) differ. Mutations of genetic
variants in genes can lead to diseases or variations in phenotypes. Genetic variants... Show more

Also, the analyzed segments for association studies are at least ten times smaller than the ones used
in linkage analysis (10~100 kb vs. 1000 kb). Therefore, although both association studies and
linkage studies use the similar method, by scanning a large scale of the known human genetic
variants, and finding the significant SNPs that relate to the outcomes, association studies have the
larger statistical power and are more popular nowadays. The genome wide association studies apply
the association studies to a large portion of the known common human genetic variants. For
humans, there are about 8 to 10 million common SNPs for whom at least one percent of the
population has the minor allele. The minor allele is the rarely observed genetic variants in the
reference population. Mostly, laboratories genotype only about a million of these tag SNPs and
impute others. Both the linkage studies and association studies are hypothesis free approach which
does not require the a priori knowledge of the biological pathways underlying the study (Belsky and
Israel 2014, Manuck and McCaffery 2014). GWAS features of including many genetic variants and
being hypothesis free provide researchers with an unbiased and comprehensive method. Only a
theoretical assumption is assumed for these association studies: the common disease common
variant assumption. This holds that multiple SNPs contribute to a single disease

El racismo aun prevalece en nuestra sociedad
Perfil Racial
Es evidente que en nuestra sociedad el racismo aГєn prevalece. Lo vemos todo el tiempo en las

minorГas.

Different Interpretations Of The Scarlet Letter
Different Interpretations of The Scarlet Letter
Symbolism is everywhere around us in our daily lives, even if you don t notice it right away.
Traffic signs, company names, and even colors can all be examples of symbolism. Dr. Stephanie
Carrez article, Symbol and Interpretation, focuses on and interprets the different types of symbolism
in Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel, The Scarlet Letter. Focusing mainly on the characters Hester and
Pearl, Carrez article brings symbolism to a new light as she interprets her thoughts. Carrez article
shows that symbolism, allegories, and the different possibilities for interpretation play a vital role
in analyzing the novel s worth by using Pearl and Hester as the main examples for the used literary

Towards her mother, too, Pearl s errand as a messenger of anguish was all fulfilled, (Hawthorne). I
believe that the symbolism in this quote is exceptional since it is talking about the spell that Pearl
has broken after kissing her father. When Pearl was born, she was known as the physical
embodiment of Hester Prynne and Mr. Dimmesdale s sin. She didn t show much emotion and
didn t appreciate her father s presence, or didn t know how to, until he was gone. When Pearl
kisses Dimmesdale, it is almost as if she has broken a spell and can now be her own person.
Before, she was almost trapped . She didn t show her own emotions and didn t appreciate what a
child normally might. I think when Pearl kissed Dimmesdale she realized what she had been
missing and started to finally realize that she was about to lose a very important person in her
life. Above all, Pearl is shown as a symbol in this novel by representing that she is a physical
example of sin.
Carrez also uses examples of allegory in her article to explain the importance of the novel.
Allegory is a more complex version of symbolism; however, allegory represents one thought,
whereas symbolism is a wide spectrum of objects having different meanings than what they
physically mean. Allegory is a story using symbolism, where symbolism is the

Sticker Hang Tags
When designing hang tags for your clothing line, you could stick to the typical tag that is displays
your logo and the suggested retail price of the item. While these basic tags serve their purpose,
they quickly end up in the trash once they are taken off the clothing after purchase. Customers may
even love the design of the tag that you painstakingly created to catch and dazzle their eyes, but
they may feel silly saving a clothingtag that has no further use. Eco conscious consumers have even

3. Book Mark Hang Tags
Another type of hang tag that your customers can save and reuse is a bookmark tag. This option
is great for clothing designed for people all ages. Bookmarks used to tag children s clothing can
be used by their parents to mark the page they are currently at in their night time story books, and
teens can use the bookmarks for their school books. Adults also still enjoy traditional books today,
and they can make great use of them as well.
When designing bookmark hang tags, make sure to make a straight perforation line directly
below the hole where the nylon string will attach it to the clothing item. Stick to typical
bookmark dimensions, which is about 6 inches by 2 inches, to make it somewhat obvious to
consumers that your tag is intended to serve as a bookmark after purchase. Place item size and
price on the back of the bookmark and, and keep the front limited to a catchy design, your brand
name, and a quote related to reading that you feel fits in well with your brand

Online Communities For Depression Awareness Essay
Introduction
Online communities can offer a unique experience to everyone. I cannot exactly say I have
much experience in an online community. The only interaction I have had in an online
community is an online book forum I had joined during high school where we discussed a
particular book I had really enjoyed reading. Unfortunately, I personally did not know anyone
else who had read that particular book and I had really wanted to discuss that book with someone
one, and so I decided to join the online forum. That experience was certainly enjoyable as I had
the opportunity to share my ideas and in return hear from other people s perspectives. Sharing such

Carmen decided to expand by selling custom designed ribbon table arrangements for special events. As a result Carmen she purchased a used sewing machine for $1,800 cash on May 1. The investors asked Carmen to provide a financial report covering March 1st June 30th. Upon review of this information, Carmen gathered the following. Customers paid $7,400 in cash for ribbons and accessories, but she was still owed $320 for a transaction on June 30. A part time employee was still owed $90 after being paid $1,510. Rent was paid in cash at the end of each month. Inventory replenishments costing $2,900 had been delivered and paid for by June 30. Carmen estimated the June 30th merchandise inventory on hand had cost $4,100. Opening office supplies were almost all gone with an estimated $20 in supplies was left. Carmen did not know why Ribbons an Bows cash on June 30 was $3,390, which was less than the April 1 balance of $4,000. She also had trouble accounting for the following in her financial report. No interest had been paid on the investors loan. Related expenditures on the sewing machine and her computer could prove to have estimated useful lives of 5 and 2 years respectively with no resale value. She did not know how to account for the free legal work and cash register provided. She also had not paid herself dividends for the four months of operations. If cash were available she

  • 4. Dance Monologue For as long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated with dance, especially ballet. As a child I would stand in front of the TV, watching ballerinas in tutus twirl across the stage, attempting to copy their leaps and pirouettes. I dreamed about the possibility of that dancer being me one day. I had no idea how much that dream would eventually shape my life. In sixth grade, I began ballet. I had no idea how challenging ballet could be, but I also had no idea how much I would grow to love it. And that love is what gave me the determination to keep growing, and keep advancing, no matter how hard it got. Once I entered high school I would often spend 20+ hours a week at my dance studio teaching classes, taking as many classes as I could, and training by myself whenever the studio was open. I joined a dance performance company, and each year I trained for the Royal Academy of Dance dance examinations. Ballet became a huge part of my life, and it taught me many more lessons than just how to pliГ© or pirouette. It taught me determination, commitment, and what it means to follow a passion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These were the days that it would have been easier to stay at home, or to only give ten percent in class. These were also the days that defined my determination and character. Would I be the person in life always looking for an excuse to quit, or would I be the one to work harder the harder it became? This is a lesson that has shaped the person I am today, even outside of the dance room. I always want to be someone who gives one hundred percent to everything I set my mind to, even when it gets ... • 5. Medical Care At The United States Summary Medical care in the United States is complex at the individual provider level, at the system level, and at the national level. While managed care works to streamline medical services, and integrate systems, integration within safety net hospital systems providers that deliver a significant level of care to vulnerable patients (Ko Et Al, 2015) and community health centers is still undergoing transition. Although policymakers have worked to promote integration in large hospital systems, and have been widely successful, integration among safety net providers and health care centers for the uninsured, Medicaid and underinsured populations remains largely fragmented. The study conducted by Michelle Ko, Julie Murphy and Andrew Bindman, in late 2015, aimed to address the challenges of integration between the two systems and propose ways to implement integration within safety net hospitals and community health centers. In order to do so Ko Et Al designed a qualitative study in which recognized leadership executives of five sites were interviewed on their experiences with service integration. The interviews were projected to last up to an hour and consisted of open ended question that allowed for participants to highlight what they felt were the challenges to successfully implemented integrated systems within their organizations and what strategies they implemented to effectively navigate the challenges. This study method allowed for the researchers to identify conflicts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A thrilling game saw the Alabama Crimson Tide win their fourth championship in the past seven years, defeating the Clemson Tigers of South Carolina. Coverage of the game was provided by sports media behemoth ESPN, which had agreed to pay 5.64 billion dollars over ten years, or 470 million dollars per year, for the exclusive rights to broadcast the game (Hinnen, par. 3). The influence tactics prevalent in this case are soft tactics because they are worker friendly and not coercive at all. Inspirational appeals are present in this case because the decision to incorporate ROWE into the work environment at J.A. Counter is a direct approach to appealing to all employees. Skoglund has enabled employees to now make decisions about their work days and performance. She has done away with mandatory hours and days that undoubtedly held time constraints for specific tasks to be completed. The employees now have freedom to decide when and for how long they will attend their job (physically). In implementing the ROWE program, Skoglund has given all employees authority to make decisions. Skoglund s decision to implement the ROWE program has given the employees major say in the workplace, mainly focused on their personal desire to come and go as they please and work the hours they themselves decide. In most organizations, this seems an invitation to chaos but according to this case, it has increased productivity therefore I do not feel employee empowerment has been taken too far. The goal of employee empowerment is to increase productivity and competitiveness (Kreitner amp; Kinicki) and in this case, that goal has thus far been met. This could also be defined as participative management. J.A. Counter has successfully established a balance between the employee s self interests and the organizations interests by incorporating the ROWE program. The ROWE program will have a positive impact at J.A. Counter because the owner has intentionally enhanced the self interest of the employees (p. 452). • 9. World war I is considered one of the bloodiest wars ever... World war I is considered one of the bloodiest wars ever fought in the history of the world. A major contributor to the death toll of this war was the new tactic of trench warfare. Trench warfare is a battle strategy using man made trenches and weapons to attack and take the enemy s trench. This battle strategy combined with the use of new war technology, and the living conditions in the trenches resulted in one of the deadliest wars ever fought by mankind. For about four years France and Germany used trench war as their war tactic. The soldiers were told to dig the trenches for temporary shelter from gunfire. The trenches would provide a sufficient amount of cover as long as a soldier would duck. The trenches where long zig zagging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way that this was an inefficient method was the tedious action of putting on masks. In 1916 tanks started being used as an offensive battle method. At first they were used incorrectly by the british, but in 1917 they helped them shatter a six mile front. The tanks were deadly and almost invincible when used correctly. The technology used to defend the army against the attacking enemy also used different weapons. For example, Barbed wire would protect against enemy attacks on the trenches. The barbed wire was a very intimidating tactic to the soldiers because of the fear of becoming entangled. If a trench is taken over, there are second and third lines of trenches that the soldiers can retreat to. When their trench is taken over, the army that was pushed back would try to regain their trench and advance upon the enemy. The living conditions in the trenches where never sufficient enough for living in, especially when the soldiers had to stay in them for a few years. The trenches where just ditches in the ground with no sleeping arrangements. Many of the soldiers would go days without sleep. The rations of food that the soldiers received were often boring and sometimes inedible because they were rarely given fresh food. This would limit a soldier s stamina in battle and make it more likely for that soldier to get killed. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Essay about Comapring Porters 5 Forces for the Airline... Assignment # 1 Strategic Practice Exercise: (page #81) 1. Score each competitive force in the airline industry and provide a brief rationale for your assessment. В·Rivalry Among Existing Firms: (High) When one major company in an industry makes a change in costs or services that could potentially increase their clientele, a major competitor almost always follows suit. Price matching is a prime example of that, therefore the threat is high. West Jet is one company that offers flights at a discount and forced Air Canada to create new banners to compete with the discounted prices. All major companies and firms in an industry watch each other s every move very carefully, and match any move with a countermove. During slow season in the airline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the threat of substitution is a significant factor in the airline industry. However, if a customer has to travel very quickly or a significant distance, that person would most likely choose the flight option instead of a cheaper alternative. В·Bargaining Power of Buyers/Distributors: (Medium) Bargaining power is a tricky one because it can work both ways. Buyers have a certain level of power in any industry. A buyer may switch suppliers very easily if there are no penalties and it is cost effective for them. If a large firm makes a large purchase of goods from another firm, it may be mutually beneficial and if serviced well, have the potential for repeat business. However, the buyer then has the power to use a substitute or competitor which would negatively affect the seller. Buyers are always the more powerful of the two because some buyers have the ability to put pressure on lower costs from suppliers, while demanding an increase of the quality of products or services provided to them. Also, the bargaining power in industries with high fixed costs like the airline industry can play a big factor. On the other hand, things like jet engines, tires and other key safety devices on aircrafts can cause severe consequences if this equipment malfunctions. For that reason, the buyer has a reduced amount of bargaining power with suppliers in this industry. The bargaining power of buyers is both high and low, so I ranked it medium. В·Bargaining ... • 12. Public Education versus Private Education Essay Public education has been able to provide the necessary education to students, despite its limited capabilities. Students are offered the same education in public schools as they are in private schools. Students make their choice on whether or not they want to apply themselves, and learn from the teachers in front of them. In private schools students are excited to learn. Maybe that is why they have better test scores. Students enrolled in public schools have a tendency to fail, or some succeed. These options are taken by students who who either try, or do not care. Either way, every student has an equal opportunity to gain an education. In To Kill A Mockingbird, many examples can be seen about public education, and how things... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Success rate is also higher within the private educational area. This is because these students are already at a higher learning level, and are ready for the college preparatory type classes (Walker 1). Students in the public school area are not always ready for the higher level thinking that it takes to do college level classes. Public school was not highly advanced in the 1930 s. Teachers tried to stick kids in the same class when either a certain student could be above that level or below that level. In Scout s case, she was way above the standards of the class she was associated with (Lee 17 20). Other students in that class did not even know how to read, and Scout could read and write. She could write in cursive, let alone print (Lee 17 20). This is another reason why Scout s teacher was insistent that Scout should stop learning outside of school and class. Now there are many ways to separate these two classes of students. Public schools have begun to incorporate a Challenge Program. It is a program for those students who are able to go above and beyond (Hauser 1). Also, these places are starting to become better equipped to handle students who require extra attention, or special needs kids. Schools are starting to better include all students who attend there. .A public education is starting to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both of the Labour Governments had some great successes, for instance, the 1964 1970 Labour government won the 1966 election with a majority of 100 seats. The Labour government of 1974 1979 did not win the election with a majority but managed to reduce inflation in 1978 from 15% to 8% which was a very large success as inflation had been a problem for a long time. Just from looking at the two governments you assume that the 1964 1970 labour government was more successful than the 1974 1979 labour government because they were in power for longer, and they won with a much larger majority of seats in the elections.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1976 Wilson retired and Callaghan took over his role as Prime Minister despite the fact that Wilson had managed to win both of the elections in 1974 (The February and October elections). Wilson s government managed to win the 1964 election after 13 years of the opposition being in power, he decided to do something new and present himself as an average Yorkshire man, and he even changed his first name to Harold as it sounds more working class. The people wanted something new and this is what Wilson presented them with. The 1964 election was won with a majority of thirteen seats, and in 1966 Labour won with a majority 110 seats. That was a vast improvement from the 1964 election. The Labour government of 1974 1979 also won two elections, the 1974 February election and the 1974 October election, however both were won by a minority. The February election was won by 4 seats and the October election was won by 42 seats. The reason for the slim win is to do with inflation. The Labour governments of 1974 1979 were in office at a bad time because Britain had started to suffer from huge inflation because of the oil price rise in 1973, and so voters didn t have a clear decision on which they were going to vote for. This shows that at the moment the 1964 1970 Labour Government was more successful by far because of their majority of 110 seats in the 1966 election. In 1967 the Labour Government of 1964 1970 was forced to devalue the pound. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Greeks won the war using this which I will tell you about later. Weapons used in the war Some weapons used in the war were the spear, sword, and shield. The spear was 8.8 feet long with an iron spearhead. It was the most commonly used weapon. These were used for their long reach. The sword was used only when the spears were all gone. Gangs commonly fulfill these two elements. Burnett states that a gangs, formation and maintenance are based on its members bared experience of estrangement from traditional social systems and on the security (emotional and physical) that membership provides (McMillan Chavis) (Burnett, 1999) . The gang s acceptance of the man and the subsequent sense of family satisfies the need for affectively pleasant interactions (McMillan Chavis, 1986), and the desire for protection (Regan) and the ability of gangs to provide such protection secures a man s sense that his welfare is a concern of those with whom he feels acceptance. As Baumsiester and Leary s article illustrates belonging is so necessary to personal happiness that those who experience social isolation are bared from experiencing high levels of happiness (Baumeister Leary). The fact that the negative and positive areas on the sucrose molecules attract the polar water molecules, is also why sugar dissolves in water. How Did The Parthenon Contribute To The Pantheon The Parthenon in Athens and the Pantheon in Rome have both made significant contributions in architecture throughout the years from when they were built. They have also been important in helping us understand the cultures of the Greeks and Romans during the times the two buildings were constructed. Right from its name it is fairly obvious that the Parthenon was built as a dedication to Athena, the patron deity of Athens. The name Parthenon derives from one of Athena s epithets: Athena Parthenos. Parthenon therefore means house of Parthenos . From the 4th century BCE, the whole building acquired the name Parthenon. There is evidence that the temple was built to measure in order to accommodate the chryselephantine statue of Athena by Pheidius. (M. The hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis plays a critical role in the development and regulation of the reproductive system. These tightly regulated functions within the pituitary must respond to continuously changing signals from the central nervous system gonads and provide the quick responses. The hypothalamic pituitary gonadal axis is comprised of major hormones, including gonadotropin releasing hormone(GnRH), luteinizing hormone(LH) and follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) and operate through both positive and negative feedback loops in mammals.1 When toxicants affect any part of this axis s function, either by altering cellular activity or the signals themselves, the physiology can impacted by immediate and downstream effects. An understanding of the endocrinology of male and female reproduction, is required to understand how toxicological effects can have severe consequences on reproductive physiology. • 31. Essay on Ghost on the Throne Book Review James Romm wrote Ghost on the Throne with the purpose to inform the reader of Alexander the Great and the empire he established, with the ensuing chaos the came after when Alexander tragically died at a young age. The book was organized somewhat chronologically, starting from opening the tombs in which Alexander was buried and how he fell ill, to the closing of the tombs and a reflection of the fall of his empire. Romm tried to answer the question of how Alexander died, providing multiple theories of how and why he died. Romm seemed to advocate the theory of poison from Alexander s enemies, including the fact that many people wanted to see Alexander dead. Romm did go into much detail about Alexander: he explained Alexander s family history, his top advisors, his love life, his illness, and over all Alexander s personality. Romm describes Alexander s family history and how he came to assume the throne after his father was assassinated. Romm provided historical evidence of Alexander s family through the opening of Alexander s tombs and sculptures found of other members of his family. Also mentioned were Alexander s top military advisors and closest friends, known as the Successors. Detail was provided that they did not try to succeed the king for the first seven years after Alexander s death. They wanted his power, but not the throne. This supported the author s idea of people desiring power but how they were conflicted with their respect for Alexander. Romm discussed Alexander s marriages as well as his quest to conquer, showing a different side of Alexander. Alexander is mostly portrayed with a great work ethic, imbued with a great desire. At present, the most common drugs used to treat the debilitating lethargy, anxiety, and fatigue often associated with major depression fall into three key categories based upon mechanism of action: SSRIs, Tricyclics, and MAOIs. Since major depression and bipolar disorder are characterized by imbalances of certain chemicals within the brain, prescription medications are often the best way of relieving the symptoms of these disorders. These descriptive ethics lay the foundation, to which, we are able to understand a circumstance in its entirety. They are the concrete evidence where we can access all ethical boundaries and establish what is considered morally inhabitable. What causes us to question morality, the principles that help us determine right from wrong and good or bad (Beauchamp 2), is that the livelihood of a person or a group of people are at stake. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As stated in the introduction Betadine contains iodine which, through iodination, can quickly kill the cells, whereas rubbing alcohol has to dehydrate the cell which takes longer than the Betadine, thus explaining the result because of the ability of Betadine to kill more bacteria in a less amount of time. Group 4 s was similar to all the other group except for rubbing alcohol, which was 28.5 compared to the class overage of 20.6. The group that had the closest result was Group 5, who got 27.0 mm. For rubbing alcohol, the zone of inhibition was an ellipse, so the group decided to take the average of the longest and shorted diameters; therefore, two possible sources of error could have been either in the measuring itself, or in the calculation of the average. Taking the ideas from this experiment, some other tests could be proposed to investigate the topic further. One experiment could be trying new products that have the same active ingredient. The results would show whether the active ingredient has the largest effect or if the bacterial growth is mainly affected by the combination of ingredients in a certain product. Summary Of The Film The Linguists The film The Linguists follows linguists Gregory Anderson and David Harrison on their journey to learn about and document endangered languages in Bolivia, India, Arizona, and Siberia. Through their quest, they are able to interact with some of the few remaining speakers of languages that are near death and they manage to make an impact on how these communities view their heritage language. Focusing on the moribund languagesof Siberia and Arizona, it becomes evident that speakers of the heritage language feel a love for the language and the culture it represents, but went through periods of oppression and embarrassment for being speakers of a minority language that ultimately shaped their attitudes on the language. The film highlights the Chemehuevi language of a Native American tribe in Arizona, where there is only one remaining speaker. The speaker is forced to repeat words to himself and replay recordings in Chemehuevi over and over again so that he can keep the language alive, since there is no one else who knows the language. This exemplifies how drastically endangered this language is, as it is only survived by one speaker. It is evident that this man has a love for his language and a cultural attachment to it because he does not give up in keeping it alive, even if it means having to talk to himself repeatedly. • 49. Linkage Analysis Essay As molecular genetic data became available, studies used them to understand human behaviors. Below I briefly summarize the structure of human genome and introduce the genome wide association studies (GWAS). In humans, 23 pairs of chromosome constitutes the human genome. For each chromosome, the nucleotides on the opposite strands connected together to form tens of thousands of base pairs. Normally, the bonds are either adenine thymine (A T) or guanine cytosine (C G). These construct the double helix DNAstructure. A chunk of a chromosome that relates to certain functions is a gene. The lengths of genes (i.e., a region of DNA) differ. Mutations of genetic variants in genes can lead to diseases or variations in phenotypes. Genetic variants... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, the analyzed segments for association studies are at least ten times smaller than the ones used in linkage analysis (10~100 kb vs. 1000 kb). Therefore, although both association studies and linkage studies use the similar method, by scanning a large scale of the known human genetic variants, and finding the significant SNPs that relate to the outcomes, association studies have the larger statistical power and are more popular nowadays. The genome wide association studies apply the association studies to a large portion of the known common human genetic variants. For humans, there are about 8 to 10 million common SNPs for whom at least one percent of the population has the minor allele. The minor allele is the rarely observed genetic variants in the reference population. Mostly, laboratories genotype only about a million of these tag SNPs and impute others. Both the linkage studies and association studies are hypothesis free approach which does not require the a priori knowledge of the biological pathways underlying the study (Belsky and Israel 2014, Manuck and McCaffery 2014). • 51. Different Interpretations Of The Scarlet Letter Different Interpretations of The Scarlet Letter Symbolism is everywhere around us in our daily lives, even if you don t notice it right away. Traffic signs, company names, and even colors can all be examples of symbolism. Dr. Stephanie Carrez article, Symbol and Interpretation, focuses on and interprets the different types of symbolism in Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel, The Scarlet Letter. Focusing mainly on the characters Hester and Pearl, Carrez article brings symbolism to a new light as she interprets her thoughts. Carrez article shows that symbolism, allegories, and the different possibilities for interpretation play a vital role in analyzing the novel s worth by using Pearl and Hester as the main examples for the used literary ... I believe that the symbolism in this quote is exceptional since it is talking about the spell that Pearl has broken after kissing her father. When Pearl was born, she was known as the physical embodiment of Hester Prynne and Mr. Dimmesdale s sin. She didn t show much emotion and didn t appreciate her father s presence, or didn t know how to, until he was gone. When Pearl kisses Dimmesdale, it is almost as if she has broken a spell and can now be her own person. Before, she was almost trapped . She didn t show her own emotions and didn t appreciate what a child normally might. I think when Pearl kissed Dimmesdale she realized what she had been missing and started to finally realize that she was about to lose a very important person in her life. Above all, Pearl is shown as a symbol in this novel by representing that she is a physical example of sin. Carrez also uses examples of allegory in her article to explain the importance of the novel. Allegory is a story using symbolism, where symbolism is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Sticker Hang Tags When designing hang tags for your clothing line, you could stick to the typical tag that is displays your logo and the suggested retail price of the item. While these basic tags serve their purpose, they quickly end up in the trash once they are taken off the clothing after purchase. Customers may even love the design of the tag that you painstakingly created to catch and dazzle their eyes, but they may feel silly saving a clothingtag that has no further use. Eco conscious consumers have even been posting on the internet asking for ways to reuse clothing tags instead of throwing them away. Why not design tags that customers can reuse, which provides them a bonus item when purchasing your clothing and makes sure they will never forget your... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3. Book Mark Hang Tags Another type of hang tag that your customers can save and reuse is a bookmark tag. This option is great for clothing designed for people all ages. Bookmarks used to tag children s clothing can be used by their parents to mark the page they are currently at in their night time story books, and teens can use the bookmarks for their school books. Adults also still enjoy traditional books today, and they can make great use of them as well. When designing bookmark hang tags, make sure to make a straight perforation line directly below the hole where the nylon string will attach it to the clothing item. Stick to typical bookmark dimensions, which is about 6 inches by 2 inches, to make it somewhat obvious to consumers that your tag is intended to serve as a bookmark after purchase. Place item size and price on the back of the bookmark and, and keep the front limited to a catchy design, your brand name, and a quote related to reading that you feel fits in well with your brand ... • 53. Online Communities For Depression Awareness Essay Introduction Online communities can offer a unique experience to everyone. I cannot exactly say I have much experience in an online community. The only interaction I have had in an online community is an online book forum I had joined during high school where we discussed a particular book I had really enjoyed reading. Unfortunately, I personally did not know anyone else who had read that particular book and I had really wanted to discuss that book with someone one, and so I decided to join the online forum. That experience was certainly enjoyable as I had the opportunity to share my ideas and in return hear from other people s perspectives. Sharing such diverse ideas allowed for influencing other s way of thinking and allowed me to connect with other individuals who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, I am someone who has a tendency to feel very anxious around other individuals, however, participating in an online community can allow me to remain anonymous while still connecting with others. This can provide as a useful tool to help me feel comfortable to interact with others personally. The ultimate purpose of this paper is to explore the online community Families for Depression Awareness. I chose this online community because I strongly recognize the importance of raising awareness of depression in families so as to inform families how they can help loved ones who are struggling with mood disorders. I, myself, used to struggle with depression when I was a teenager, and unfortunately my family did not know how to help me. ONLINE COMMUNITY ANALYSIS 3 That experience made me feel isolated and like an outcast in my family. It took me a long time until recently to realize that they just did not know how to help me.
