Move Without Lots Of Boxes Research Paper
So, it s settled. You ve picked out one of the best apartments in Chino, California and you re ready to
move. You already envision yourself driving down the freeway, enjoying weekly farmer s market, and
making impromptu trips to LA. While the excitement of moving to Chino is understandable, it s also
important to avoid putting the cart before the horse. Proper planning is wise to experience a smooth
transition to Chino. Try some of these tips when you re preparing for the big move! Gather Supplies
What s a move without lots of boxes? Unless you have boxes stores in random areas of your home,
most people have to go purchase boxes. Before making a big purchase of boxes you ll later throw
away, visit some of the local grocery stores. Go to the customer service desk and find out their policy
regarding boxes. Grocery stores get shipments of boxes in on a weekly basis. Normally, grocery stores
workers will break down the boxes and throw them away. Ask if it s possible to get some boxes for
yourself. Most stores give them away for free. This is a great way to secure one of the most vital
supplies for a big move. Additionally, don t forget to purchase lots of heavy duty scotch or masking
tape. A heavy duty marker and labels are great for each box as well. ... Show more content on

In their frenzy to end the process, they can overlook their safety and wind up with an injury. One of
the most important things to remember when moving heavy boxes and items involves bending. Bend
the knees when picking items because this takes the pressure and strain off the back. Nothing is more
painful than pulling a muscle or throwing out your back. Practice safety by utilizing this one
precaution every time you need to pick up a heavy item. Use

How Does An Autism Assistance Dog Positively Affect The...
Research Question: How does an autism assistance dog positively affect the autistic child?
I decided to research this topic as I have always been interested in animals and want to pursue a career
working with animals. After watching a captivating news clip on assistance dogs it was clear this was
going to be the topic I would investigate for my research project.
I researched autism assistance dogs (AAD), specifically their training, eligible criteria and positive
effects on the child. I read websites and books along with watching videos to get secondary
information. I contacted an expert in the field Danielle Mathews, service coordinator of AAD at Guide
Dogs SA/NT, to obtain further information to support my findings.
My Research Outcome is in report form and features pictures and diagrams.

E1 Evaluation of Research processes
I relied heavily on secondary sources as there were limited organisations where I could receive the
primary information. All the resources used cross referenced each other and were specific to my topic.
The basis of my research was conducted through Guide dogs SA/NT as they are based in Adelaide and
have significant information regarding AAD. This process was highly valid in that it included a large
amount of relevant in depth information that contributed to many key findings of my research. Guide
dogs provided me with an effective abundance of information desired. As well as having general

The Great Dictator s Speech By Charlie Chaplin
In The Great Dictator s Speech spoken by Charlie Chaplin, a famous actor in the early 20th century,
seems to talk about the evils in the world and how mankind should all unite and make peace with one
another without the need for war, death, and petty rivalries. However, the goal of the speaker in this
speech actually points towards his desire to gain power, which he will then abuse as it is written in the
name, The Great Dictators Speech. The main purpose of the speech itself is to inform people and all of
humanity has the power of themselves rather than a dictator. In other words: Freedom and peace in the
world. Chaplin s character talks of how man has fallen, succumbed to greed and misery, which then
turns into war and bloodshed. He uses this to convince people they all must set aside their differences
to unite as one to prevent future struggles in the world. In his first quote Chaplin says, We all want to
help one another. human beings are like that. We want to live by each other s happiness not by each
other s misery. We don t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for
everyone. He is stating in this text that the world would be a better place should people work together
and exercise the love of looking out for one another. If men weren t so preoccupied with greed and
self gratification, negative emotions like hate and misery would cease. The next quote states, The hate
of men will pass, and dictators will die, and the power they

The Importance Of Lifelong Learning
In a developing world, in which society and technology are evolving at an exponential rate, lifelong
learning has become in the way to promote personal development and enhance social incorporation.
Knowledge is not acquired only in classrooms or in any educative institution, but in reality, knowledge
is obtained by engaging and interacting with a society that grows along the world. Therefore, it is
important to understand of the need for, and the ability to engage in lifelong learning. This process
happens on a daily basis and is the responsibility of each person to engage in a continuous learning
process.
For many people who engage in higher education, it is believed that the learning process stops when a

Many European countries want 15% of all adults that are in ages between 25 and 64 to participate in at
least one learning activity (Ellen p.3). For developing countries, lifelong learning activities promote
literacy skills and better opportunities in employment promoting economic growth among the
population.
After the first decade of the 21st century, Lifelong learning has become in the primary tool to face
common global challenges such as poverty, economic breakdowns, and climate change (10.1007,
p.xlix). The importance of embracing lifelong education allows people to understand this issues with
better self knowledge and how to respond to them with confidence. An example of lifelong learning
implementation is Hungary. In the 1990s, the Hungarian government proposed a national
modernization plan, in which substantial resources were used to improve regional equality in rural
areas, promote self sustaining development in communities, and facilitate labor market flexibility.
This was accomplished by adopting lifelong learning as a way of re training communities in rural
areas (9199 p.52) . Access to this education was found in vocational education systems and in
enterprises willing to invest in work based training providing better skills to their employees; some of
these companies contributed about 1.5% of their total payroll (9199 p.58).

Analysis Of Frank Jackson s What Mary DidnT Know
The topic I chose for this paper is the article What Mary Didn t Know written by Frank Jackson.
Essentially, What Mary Didn t Know focuses on a woman, Mary, who is confined to a room where
nothing contains any colour, everything is in black and white. She is educated this same way, strictly
through means black and white tools. She is taught every possible thing there is to know about the
physical nature of our world. Jackson concludes that physicalism must be false, for when she is let out
of that black and white room, having complete knowledge of the physical world, that she will learn
what the colour red is. Jackson believes that through his article, he has disproven physicalism. This
paper will prove why Jackson s article is false, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second counter argument Jackson could have is that the realm of mental states has always existed.
To say that a realm of mental states exists during a time without life, without conscious, is nothing
short of foolish. A separate realm of reality made up of nothing more than experiences cannot possibly
exist without anything to experience it. If there is no living thing to perceive a reality solely made up
of mental states, in what capacity would it exist? The simple answer is that it could not possibly exist,
which would result in a time where the world, existence itself, was physicalist. Therefore, his second
possible counter argument is not feasible either. This leaves only one possible solution. The world had
to be at some point physicalist, which will be used as a tool throughout the rest of this paper.
II: Approach from Evolution Jellyfish have been on Earth for more than 650 million years. But there is
something even more interesting about them: they completely lack a brain. Despite this, they are still
able to do incredible things such as touch, smell, and see. Even if it is in a way that is
incomprehensible to us, these animals are still able to experience the world in some form. By Jackson
s logic, this should be utterly impossible. For sensations must exist in a separate realm away from this
reality, how could they access this realm if they have absolutely no thought? No consciousness? And

Turkey Research Paper
The history is always a good place to start when you are writing a paper over countries. The history of
Turkey is pretty interesting to talk about. During the 1300s a group of Turks also know for as the
Ottomans founded a principality in Northwestern Anatolia. Which means the Ottoman created an
empire and that empire soon became one of the most powerful empires in the world. With that being
said later on in 1939 1945 Turkish sided with the democratic western nations during and after World
War II. Now switching from history over to geography, agriculture in Turkey is widely practiced in the
Northwestern and the Southwestern of Turkey. Now you notice that the Eastern part of Turkey wasn t
mentioned, that is because the Eastern parts of turkey are the most mountainous parts, which tells you
that it s very difficult to practice agriculture there. Now a little more about mountains are that many
peaks in Turkey exceed 10,000 feet at the least. Turkey s highest point is Mt. Ararat which peaks at
16,948 feet, which is very tall compared to the smaller ones. Another very interesting thing about
Turkey is the people and their lifestyles, you may not know but turkish lives are far from the same as

Similarities Between Of Mice And Men
John Steinbeck is considered one of the great American authors. His novels centered on the American
landscape, particularly California. John Steinbeck s 1937 novel, Of Mice and Men, is a classic
American novel about two ranch workers who struggle to keep their dream alive. In 1992, a MGM
film adaptation directed by Gary Sinise was created. As with all book to film adaptations, many
people debate over which work is better. Some say that the book is better because it creates a mood of
darkness within the reader. Although both works convey their themes well, Steinbeck s novel has more
emotional impact on readers due to its setting and mood. The novel s setting exceeds the film s
because it is meaningful and symbolic. The author utilizes the California ... Show more content on

Characters are presented differently scene to scene to change the reader s perspective of them. For
example, in the film Curley s wife is depicted as a lonely housewife who is desperate to leave her
husband. Although this characterization is accurate, the novel provides a more complex view of her
because it shows how her frustration manifests itself in her treatment of others. One instance of her
pent up anger hurting others is when she verbally attacks Crooks. She declares, Listen, Nigger... You
know what I can do to you if you open your trap?...you keep your place, Nigger. I could get you strung
up on a tree so easy it ain t even funny (Steinbeck, 79). This moment of cruelty shows that Curley s
wife has been corrupted by the evil of the world. She hurts those who are lower than her on the social
hierarchy because she believes doing so will make people respect her. This shows that she is deeply
insecure of her place in the world. The reader comes to hate Curley s wife, until they learn more about
her life. She monologues about her dreams of becoming an actress before she dies, but her death is
optimistic and bitter sweet. The author states, ... the meanness and the plannings and the discontent
and the ache for attention were all gone from her face. She was

Pros And Cons Of Museum Repatriation Controversy
Museum Repatriation Controversy
Museums are in a showdown with other countries over art, artifacts, and even culture. They are
fighting over repatriation, the return of artifacts and other antiquities. One expert explains, There are
those in favor of repatriation who say it is unethical to keep these artifacts. Others contend that such
artifacts should remain in museums because they are part of a universal human history (Art and
Cultural Repatriation). Having better more fair laws on cultural property and repatriation could lower
looting and increase archeological dig sites to find even more antiquities. The individual country the
artifact comes from, and the museum researching it, should be the only ones that can claim whether

Author Svensson of On Craft and Art , believes that by giving back artifacts of cultural importance it
will mean better environments for it to be in, and become a tourist attraction for these countries so
they could get more money. Svensson also thinks that for the indigenous peoples that now have
museums could finally have something to attract more people and promote sharing of the artifacts
between other museums(par. 1). Along with Svensson s ideas there is also a problem with stopping
museums from buying stolen artifacts and refusing to give them back. Henrik Bering noted, The
traditional museum concept of universalism, the British cultural policy adviser Munira Mirza points
out, is now associated with imperialistic values and the theft of other peoples identity, for which there
is said to be only one remedy: to hand back our ill gotten gains (par. 16). Some museums feel it
necessary to keep artifacts because they believe they could provide a better more suitable environment

A Modest Proposal Essay
Have You Eaten Yet?: Swift s Final Solution
amp;#9;As a lately favored eighteenth century essay, Jonathan Swift s amp;quot;Proposal amp;quot;
has been canonized as a satirical model of wit. As will be discussed shortly, Swift s essay is often seen
as an allegory for England s oppression of Ireland. Swift, himself and Irishman (Tucker 142), would
seem to have pointed his razor wit against the foreign nation responsible for his city s ruin. Wearing
the lens of a New Historicist, however, requires that we reexamine the power structures at work in
Swift s society. We must delve into not only Swift s amp;quot;Proposal, amp;quot; but also into other

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Noble Fir
Introduction Abies magnifica and Abies procera, often referred to as red fir and noble fir, are two
closely related evergreen coniferous tree species residing in moist soils at mid and high elevations of
western North America (Zavarin et al. 1978). Ranging from 10 20 centimeters in sizes, these two firs
are distinguished by their hockey stick structured needles among their genus (Parker 1963). Red fir, in
particular, has the subgroups California red firs and intermediate Shasta red fir (Mathiasen and
Daugherty 2008). Controversies on whether red fir and noble fir hybridize have long been debated in
the scientific world (Critchfield 1988; Silen et al. 1965).
Morphologically, red firs consist of cones larger than 15 centimeters, chained barks, more diamond
shaped needles that exclude a groove, as well as basal bud scales pubescent throughout (Parker 1963;
Hunt 1993). Noble firs tend to be smaller than 15 centimeters and include narrow ridged barks,
grooved needles, and central basal bud scales (Parker 1963; Hunt 1993). Based on his research of
thirteen separated sites, Parker reasoned that most of the fir at higher altitudes in southern Oregon as
well as north western California were noble fir (Parker 1963). Nevertheless, classification of the
morphological affiliations of red fir, noble fir, and Shasta red fir are disputable due to their variations.

An Idea That Protects A Proprietor s Land Title
Indefeasibility Introduction Indefeasibility of title is an idea that protects a proprietor s land title. It
allows for the proprietor to be immune from attack by adverse claims and interests in the land, in
which he, the proprietor, is registered. This concept is based around the Torrens system in New
Zealand, this concept consists of three main principles, the mirror, the curtain and the insurance
principles. This essay will discuss the concept of indefeasibility of title, the Torrens system and how
these have provided security of title for land owners in New Zealand. I will also report on two
significant cases that will illustrate the concept of Indefeasibility of title, they are Frazer v Walker and
Efstratiou, Glantschnig and Petrovic v Glatnschnig. Common Law Common law was implemented in
New Zealand when the British settlers arrived. It was in accordance with English law and was known
as the Deeds system and Act and was replaced by the Torrens system in 1870. Common Law basically
stated that no one could confer a better title than the one they have and therefore if a deed was deemed
invalid, so too was the title (Hinde 2013). Torrens System The Torrens system is what indefeasibility
of title has been built around. It has existed since 1870 and has been refined and is now found in the
Land Transfer Act 1952. The system, as mentioned earlier, consists of three principles, the mirror
principle, the curtain principle and the insurance principle. The Mirror principle:

A Framework For Understanding Poverty Essay
A Framework for Understanding Poverty Paper
A Framework for Understanding Poverty is a book, written by Ruby K. Payne for the purpose of
helping educators impact their students in poverty through opportunities. This book examines
experiences from all economic classes in order to evaluate the differences in education among each
class. Payne talks about the different types of poverty and the resources needed to be a stable and
educated person. Poverty is the extent to which an individual does without resources .
There are two types of poverty, generational poverty and situational poverty. It is very important to
know the difference between the two types of poverty. Situational poverty is when an event happens,
for example a death, illness or divorce. Situational poverty is usually temporary because it is mainly
based on the lack of financial resources rather than any other resources. Generational poverty is when
a family has been in poverty for two or more generations. So they usually lack more than just financial
resources.
Generational poverty has different hidden rules, and beliefs than situational poverty. Generational
poverty usually has violence, instability, uneducated adults, addiction, incarceration, death, and lack of
space in a household. In generational poverty people don t usually know how to manage money
because they have never had much or any. Family is very important to people in poverty and the
patterns are usually hard to understand for people outside of

The process of improvements in healthcare for the United States has been a continuous battle with

Essay about The Media’s Effect on Adolescent Bodies

The stringent standard Barbie doll proportions of body image and what is considered beautiful in
today s media has resulted in devastating effects on adolescent women. The images displayed of

In her book The Beauty Myth, Naomi Wolf criticizes the media and its negative effects on women by
stating that every woman should be allowed the choice to do whatever we want with our faces and

legal judgments regarding women s appearance to undermine us psychologically and politically (10).
Some of the most common negative effects that young girls are experiencing are physical, emotional,

The physical effect s that the media has on a young girl s overall beauty and body image are
staggering. Many young girls put their bodies through painful physical transformations. They want to

When talking about fractionation response, tumors tend to behave similar to early responding tissues

the response of early and late responding tissues. One benefit is that hyperfractionation can be
effective even if tumors have high sensitivity by looking at their alpha/beta ratios. Usually
hyperfractionation is generally expected to have an escalation of total dose which increases control

A figurehead of the abject criticism of restoration era theatre was Jeremy Collier, a non juror bishop

him to act similarly or mirror such behavior, and that these desires could not be satisfied without

The Importance Of City Elections In Canada
This paper will examine municipal elections in British Columbia, taking Surrey and Vancouver as
direct examples to show that a ward system would be a much more fair and democratic way to elect
city councils. Municipal elections in these two cities currently take place in an at large system. The
argument behind why this system is superior is that city councils have a more citywide approach to
representation, as opposed to a regional one. Many political scientists have argued that a ward system,
which splits cities into districts that are all represented by at least a single councillor, are a better way
to hold more democratic and representative elections. Because of the current lack of representation for
some lower income or underprivileged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goal of ward systems is to make sure that all sections of a city are equally represented by at least a
single councillor. Even though cities such as Vancouver have for some reason rejected it (as seen in
2004), it is a much more fair system to all citizens of a city. The at large system easily tends to favour
wealthier communities in a city. When taking Vancouver as an example, the Berger Commission of
2004 found that [it] is generally accepted that the majority of city councillors have been from the West
Side. As Rebecca Dhindsa puts it, the West Side is an area with higher incomes and less
unemployment than Vancouver s East Side. This shows that councillors tend to run from wealthier
segments of a city in at large systems. This can be because they may be more financially well off than
the candidates from the underprivileged sections, which can affect campaign financing, or as the
Berger Commission states, the richer and better educated have a greater chance of informing
themselves on civic issues and participating in political affairs. The defence that this system is better
for a council with a citywide focus is also largely false. Royce Koop and John Kraemer found that
many councillors in at large municipalities still favour a certain area. When interviewing Councillor
Bruce Hayne of Surrey, they were told this by him; I think everybody has some affinity to the
geography of where they live. I live in Cloverdale so I

Corporate Governance Convergence Practice in Japan
Corporate governance convergence practice in Japan Introduction In recent years, there are a number
of literatures with regard to the debatable and inevitable convergence in the corporate governance
practices (Yoshikawa Rasheed, 2009). In general, corporate governance convergence relate to the
models of corporate governance, in which merge in practices and theoretical views especially at
national or multinational level (West, 2009). West (2009) also stated that the completely convergence
which represent the differences between various countries would disappear and a universal corporate
governance would be used widely in the end. However, Hansmann and Kraakamn (2001) claimed that
the corporate laws and practices are all converging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the European Commission (EU) provides particular governance such as increasing of
shareholder s rights and better discourse for enhancement of corporate governance in European Union

increasing the isomorphism in the governance practices of public corporation from different country
(Yoshikawa Rasheed, 2009: p389). However, Yoshikawa et al. (2009) argued that such the definition
is quite general. There are several researches show that the clearer definition which divides the
convergence into two categories: Convergence in form and Convergence in function . Convergence in
form means the increasing of homogeneity in legal framework and institutions. Convergence in
function states that the different nations might have various rules and institutions, yet it could still
operate the similar functions such as guaranteeing fair disclosure and responsibility of managers.
(Gilson cited in Yoshikawa Rasheed, 2009: p389). Khanna et al. (2006) also divided the convergence
into de jure convergence and de facto convergence (Yoshikawa Rasheed, 2009). If there were two
countries which adopt similar corporate governance laws, it is called de jure convergence between
these two countries. Therefore, de facto convergence relate to the two countries whose actual practices

The Advertiser and the Otago Times Daily are written within somewhat different contexts. With
celebrity culture having a large importance within our society, knowing that Dawson was only known
in some world regions, Amy Harris assumed the target audience to be uneducated of Dawson s life

battling depression , living a life full of contradictions and becoming an anti bullying advocate . In

Volcanic and Seismic Events Are Major Pieces of Evidence...
Volcanic and Seismic events are major pieces of evidence towards proving that plate tectonics theory
is valid (40 marks) The theory of plate tectonics states that the Earth s lithosphere (top layer of the
Earth s crust) is split up into rigid sections called plates that are moving relative to one another as they
move on top of the underlying semi molten mantle. These plates are either continental, The North
American Plate, or oceanic, The Nazca Plate. Tectonic plates are powered by convection currents,
which is the circular movement of magma within the mantle. These currents are powered by the core,
which heats the magma, causing it to rise, cool and fall back down. This circular motion causes the
plates, which float on the mantle, to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Earthquakes can be created on any of the plate boundaries. Earthquakes occur when tension is
released from inside the crust. Plates do not always move smoothly alongside each other and
sometimes get stuck. When this happens pressure builds up. When this pressure is eventually released,
an earthquake tends to occur. The point inside the crust where the pressure is released is called the
focus. The point on the Earth s surface above the focus is called the epicentre. Earthquake energy is
released in seismic waves. These waves spread out from the focus. The waves are felt most strongly at
the epicentre, becoming less strong as they travel further away. The most severe damage caused by an
earthquake will happen close to the epicentre. But there are some anomalies as there are earthquakes
which don t take place on a plate boundary and it s the same with volcanoes. An example of this is
Hawaii. Hawaii is a volcanic island which is found in the middle of a tectonic plate. Hawaii is an
example of a hotspot. The places known as hotspots are volcanic regions thought to be fed by
underlying mantle that is anomalously hot compared with the mantle elsewhere. They may be on, near
to, or far from tectonic plate boundaries. There are two hypotheses to explain them. One suggests that
they are due to hot mantle plumes that rise from the core mantle boundary. The other hypothesis
postulates that it is not high

My Papa s Waltz By Roethke
My Papa s Waltz Analysis
My Papa s Waltz, by Theodore Roethke is a classic poem enjoyed by numerous people. This poem is
frequently analyzed it due to it s meaning that continues to be relevant after seventy four years. It can
be seen as a happy poem about a father and a son, but the diction and metaphors used lead to its
serious and sad implication. After continuously reading and analyzing My Papa s Waltz, I came to
realize this is a narrative poem written in a lyrical way. Using rhythm and beat, the speaker tells a
story about a joyful memory between a father and son that has an unfortunate connotation.
In this poem, the speaker is a male looking back at a memory from his childhood that he shared with

Summary Of The Mammoth Cometh
The article, The Mammoth Cometh, uses many appeals and techniques to relay the importance of de
extinction, especially in relation to Novak s passion, the passenger pigeon. Pathos are effectively used
to in giving us (the audience) a personal connection with Ben Novak as the author takes us on hikes as
a boy throughout the badlands near his home, exploring a vast petrified forest, in North Dakota.
Novak frequently came across vertebrae, phalanges and rib fragments of extinct crocodiles, and other
animals. With such a childhood it s no wonder that at 13, Novak pledged his life to the resurrection of
extinct animals. A few years later he fell in love at first sight with passenger pigeons and has since
dedicated his life to their cause. The burning passion he has for these extinct animals can t help but
inspire us. He is described as overcome by awe, sadness and the birds physical beauty, and has visited
339 preserved passenger pigeons. His solid determination in the revival and restoration of these birds
is also unbelievable, trying first to become a part of a lab already sequencing passenger pigeon DNA
and then, when he was not accepted, writing more than 30 times to an institute to receive a sample of a
bird s tissue to do it himself. Ultimately, he was able to partner with the other lab, but the owner
expressed that she was worried his zeal might interfere with his ability to do serious science.

research your options before making any decisions. The advice from your colleagues in the text does
bring up some really good points. If the article in The Wall Street Journal holds to be true, now would

Assuming that the 80 acres of farmland do not come with all of the equipment needed to grow and
harvest corn crops, there will be an additional investment beyond the $80,000 for the land in terms of
both time and money. If you do not have the additional funds to not only purchase the materials and
hire the manpower to get the farm up and running, but also the funds to sustain your likelihood while
waiting for the crops to turn a profit, you would find yourself in quite the predicament. There are
alternatives to obtaining these additional resources, such as taking out business loans or finding a
business partner, but these added expenses may in turn cause additional stress in your life, defeating
the purpose of moving to Illinois seeking refuge in a more peaceful environment. I also believe it is
important to research the corn crops and corn based ethanol a little bit more before jumping into a
decision like this. According to the 2014 Illinois Crop Budgets corn crops have lower returns than
received in recent years, suggesting that incomes will be down for corn farmers in comparison to
previous years (Schnitkey, 2013). Even with the increased demand for ethanol, knowing that projected
incomes are potentially in decline is something one should not take lightly before making such a
drastic career

In the Machinery Halls, heavy industry was represented by displays on mining, iron and steelwork,
armaments manufacture, shipbuilding, pumping and motive power machinery, electricity generation,
as well as textile and printing machinery. Many displayed objects were instruments of war such as a
gun carried on the backs of three dummy men. Warship firms displayed models of their scouts,
destroyers, armed cruisers and torpedo boats. War relics included an astrolabe of 1578, the barge of
the great Napoleon, the flat bottomed boats which the French used when they captured Algiers, and
some of the small cannons used on the gunwales of eighteenth century warships.
Numerous modern inventions were also featured. The steel and iron industry displayed flywheels, and
suction producers, while railway companies made a model of a Scenic Railway outside. The place of
honor in the French hall was taken by the great Pont à Mousson blast furnace. The London Electricity
Companies demonstrated modern cooking with electric range and kettles, and showed sewing

One of the great luxuries in the building was a free rest room, in the middle of which was a pleasant

The Family Of A Family
Introduction
A family is a group of two or more people that are related by blood, marriage (registered), adoption,
step or fostering, and who usually live together in the same household. This includes newly weds
without children, gay partners, couples with dependants, single mums or dads with children, siblings
living together, and many other variations (What is a family, 2013). A family consists of many
variables that work together to form a system. The main functions of a family are to ensure that
children are satisfactorily socialised into norms and values, to provide economics support for other
family members, to satisfy the emotional love and security in a family and to provide a sense of place
and position in the society.
Families underwent significant shifts in structure over the 20th century. During the time of federation,
families often had extended relatives living together. In the years following WW2 nuclear families (A
family unit that includes two married parents of opposite genders and their biological or adopted
children living in the same residence (Melissa Mayntz, 2012) became most common although this is
still the case, diversity in various kinds of family increased during the later parts of the century.
During 2001, more than 14.8 million Australians lived with at least one other family member, between
1986 and 2001 the number of families increased by 19%. While families comprising of couples with

Psychoanalytic Theory And Depth Psychology
Claudia Segal
Question #1
1. Write a short essay in which you describe and discuss what you consider to be at least one major
strength or intellectual contribution and at least one major weakness of Freud s version of
psychoanalytic theory and depth psychology. In your essay, show your understanding of key Freudian
concepts 20 pts. (2 pages)
Sigmund Freud s primary version of psychoanalytical theory presented in the late 19th century is one
that has withstood the tests of time; with just a few exceptions. Freud s psychoanalytical theory which
is comprised of many of Freud s very unique and great theories like the tripartite mind, psychosexual
developmental stages, and defense mechanisms gave insight into the inner workings of the mind that
until then had not yet been discovered nor explored. After all, psychoanalysis centers on exposing the
human unconscious by viewing human behavior through a deterministic lens, meaning that the mind is
governed by the unconscious, instinctual drives, and other forces.
Some of his theories such as his concept on the existence and meaning of psychosexual developmental
stages fall under being deterministic; this is because Freud was a strong believer in psychic
determinism, which is a type of determinism that theorizes that all mental processes are determined by
the unconscious or preexisting mental complexes. There lies one of Freud s greatest weaknesses in my
opinion, as over time the popularity for determinism has shifted to humanism,

The Uk Supermarket Industry, And Analysing The Condition...
1.Introduction
This report is about the UK supermarket industry, and analysing the condition of the current market. It
will focus on its market structure, barriers to entry and contestable market to analyse if the
supermarket industry is an oligopoly market and if it is a contestable market or not.
2.Findings
2,1 Definition of oligopoly
To examine if a market is oligopoly market, it has to meet the following conditions:
Few firms in an industry
Firms under oligopoly market are price setters.
Long run abnormal profit can be made
Products can be homogeneous(e.g., sugar) or differentiated(e.g., mobile phone)
Barriers to entry Sunk cost, technology, economies of scale, limiting pricing and brand loyalty of
incumbents can all be barriers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, interdependence makes oligopoly market uncertain.
Due to uncertainty, firms may want to ensure a stable amount of profit, collusion may be an option for
them.
Cartel firms ,especially dominant players, gather together to set up a price according to the profit
maximisation in the whole market. In this case, firms act like a monopoly. The price of products of
each firms is fixed, thus reduction of price competition will be achieved. Instead of pricing strategy,
firms will compete each other over non price competition, for example, advertising. Like monopoly,
customers interest might be sacrificed because price is constructed according to the market s profit
maximisation point, whole industry can gain abnormal profit, which means customers pay more than
they actually need to. According to the figure 1, price of products under cartel is set up at P because of
profit maximisation E (MC=MR), and abnormal profit is PP2FG. However, cartel is illegal in many
countries, including UK.
Tacit collusion Firms will follow the price set up by established leader. Established leader can be
dominant company in this industry. This is called dominant firm price leadership. Price can also be set
up by company which may not be the dominant one, but other firms might follow its action because it
is reliable on price setting. This is called barometric price leadership.

In Walker III v. Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans (2015), attorney Scott Keller argues on

Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV). The case concerns the constitutionality of a
decision made by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Board (the DMV Board) to reject the

of the First and Fourteenth Amendment. Four contentions surround the issue: the form of speech

First Amendment s Free Speech Clause and the Fourteenth Amendment s guarantee of viewpoint

Following the industrial revolution, societies across the world began to notice strange effects on
individuals throughout certain local communities. Though toxicology was a relatively new and

exposed to industrial workers, their families, and nearby neighborhoods. Unfortunately, industry in the
United States continued to expand with little regard for the effects on human health. As a result from
this expansion the amount of chemicals released into the atmosphere skyrocketed continuously all the

Symbology In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
Piggy symbolises a rope because he holds everyone together. This representation is true because
people use rope to tie or hold things together. One quote to show this is The first thing we ought to
have made was shelters down there by the beach. Another way piggy symbolises a rope is that he
supports the group. One way he supports the group is taking care of the little ones. In conclusion
Piggy symbolises a rope because he holds everyone together and supports the group. Ralph
symbolises a toolbox because he is useful for many different things. This representation is true
because a toolbox holds many different items thus making it useful for many different tasks. One
piece of evidence from the story is That s why Ralph made a meeting, so

New York City Urbanization
The area that constitutes New York City today was originally populated by the Lenape people. These
autonomous groups of Native Americans were dozen odd groups who lived between today s Eastern
Connecticut and central New Jersey. They spoke an Algonquian language, lived in seasonal campsites,
and dedicated their lives to fishing, farming, and hunting. The first European to enter the New York
Harbor was the Florentine navigator Giovanni da Verraza, who was at the time searching for a
northwest passage to Asia. Despite the short visit, he named the area Nouvelle Angoulême in honor of
the principal state of the King of France (Burrows and Wallace).
The European exploration of New York City continued with the discovery of the Hudson River in
1609. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though factories were moving to neighboring boroughs after 1919, before World War II the city
did retain many factories in its central core, bucking the nationwide trend of suburbanization of

cities (Onion), so blue collar workers became attracted to the jobs in the suburbs. This process
essentially reshaped the city of New York, since the pushing of manufacturing industry made it
possible to disentangle the changing distribution of workplaces, homes, and commuting patterns
(Harris 169). In addition, the construction of interstate highways that took place after World War II
benefitted workers and their families when leaving the city ( New York City Facts Summary ).
The end of the 20th century represented the rise of New York s finance community to world
ascendancy. This phenomenon took place after the decline of New York as a port, yet the density and
size of the city turned the city into a center for the exchange of ideas and the general flow of
information (Glaeser 30). The flow of information and the city s ability to acquire and sell businesses
is what has contributed to the city s survival as a major center of world finance (Glaeser

A Feminist Analysis Of Wonder Woman And Dianna
Wonder Woman
The arrival of Wonder Woman in theaters was celebrated with a fervor not felt since the first wave of
modern superhero films began. The potential of getting a female superhero film after decades of
studios dragging their feet or releasing bizarre messes like Catwoman powered this excitement. While
the character had appeared in adaptation before, these appearances were in animated films aimed at
the inner audience of comic aficionados, or in Saturday morning cartoons. These were fine
representations of the character and her story, but the last attempt to bring the character in front of
mainstream adult audiences were with the ABC/CBS show from the 70s. This was in contrast to the
other two members of the DC Trinity , Superman and Batman, having numerous theatrical outings. ...

Sometimes Wonder Woman can lend a unique and nuanced perspective on the plot points occurring
but there are several famous instances of her being written as a screeching harpy. (That have
fortunately been written out of continuity.) I am not sure if this needs to be said, but the accuracy of
the portrayal of feminist philosophy skyrockets when Dianna is being written by a woman.
Unsurprisingly, the screeching harpy scenes were written by a formerly great male writer who turned
into a conspiracy theory spewing xenophobe. This complicated history present in the comics clearly
demonstrates that without the excellent directorial talent displayed by Patty Jenkins, the film might
have turned into something quite

Try some of these tips when you re preparing for the big move! Gather Supplies What s a move without lots of boxes? • 3. How Does An Autism Assistance Dog Positively Affect The... Research Question: How does an autism assistance dog positively affect the autistic child? I decided to research this topic as I have always been interested in animals and want to pursue a career working with animals. After watching a captivating news clip on assistance dogs it was clear this was going to be the topic I would investigate for my research project. I researched autism assistance dogs (AAD), specifically their training, eligible criteria and positive effects on the child. I read websites and books along with watching videos to get secondary information. I contacted an expert in the field Danielle Mathews, service coordinator of AAD at Guide Dogs SA/NT, to obtain further information to support my findings. My Research Outcome is in report form and features pictures and diagrams. (Word count 130) Evaluation E1 Evaluation of Research processes I relied heavily on secondary sources as there were limited organisations where I could receive the primary information. All the resources used cross referenced each other and were specific to my topic. The basis of my research was conducted through Guide dogs SA/NT as they are based in Adelaide and have significant information regarding AAD. This process was highly valid in that it included a large amount of relevant in depth information that contributed to many key findings of my research. • 4. The Great Dictator s Speech By Charlie Chaplin In The Great Dictator s Speech spoken by Charlie Chaplin, a famous actor in the early 20th century, seems to talk about the evils in the world and how mankind should all unite and make peace with one another without the need for war, death, and petty rivalries. However, the goal of the speaker in this speech actually points towards his desire to gain power, which he will then abuse as it is written in the name, The Great Dictators Speech. The main purpose of the speech itself is to inform people and all of humanity has the power of themselves rather than a dictator. In other words: Freedom and peace in the world. Chaplin s character talks of how man has fallen, succumbed to greed and misery, which then turns into war and bloodshed. He uses this to convince people they all must set aside their differences to unite as one to prevent future struggles in the world. In his first quote Chaplin says, We all want to help one another. human beings are like that. We want to live by each other s happiness not by each other s misery. We don t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. He is stating in this text that the world would be a better place should people work together and exercise the love of looking out for one another. If men weren t so preoccupied with greed and self gratification, negative emotions like hate and misery would cease. The Importance Of Lifelong Learning In a developing world, in which society and technology are evolving at an exponential rate, lifelong learning has become in the way to promote personal development and enhance social incorporation. Knowledge is not acquired only in classrooms or in any educative institution, but in reality, knowledge is obtained by engaging and interacting with a society that grows along the world. Therefore, it is important to understand of the need for, and the ability to engage in lifelong learning. This was accomplished by adopting lifelong learning as a way of re training communities in rural areas (9199 p.52) . She is educated this same way, strictly through means black and white tools. She is taught every possible thing there is to know about the physical nature of our world. Jackson concludes that physicalism must be false, for when she is let out of that black and white room, having complete knowledge of the physical world, that she will learn what the colour red is. The second counter argument Jackson could have is that the realm of mental states has always existed. To say that a realm of mental states exists during a time without life, without conscious, is nothing short of foolish. A separate realm of reality made up of nothing more than experiences cannot possibly exist without anything to experience it. If there is no living thing to perceive a reality solely made up of mental states, in what capacity would it exist? The simple answer is that it could not possibly exist, which would result in a time where the world, existence itself, was physicalist. Therefore, his second possible counter argument is not feasible either. This leaves only one possible solution. The world had to be at some point physicalist, which will be used as a tool throughout the rest of this paper. During the 1300s a group of Turks also know for as the Ottomans founded a principality in Northwestern Anatolia. Which means the Ottoman created an empire and that empire soon became one of the most powerful empires in the world. With that being said later on in 1939 1945 Turkish sided with the democratic western nations during and after World War II. Now switching from history over to geography, agriculture in Turkey is widely practiced in the Northwestern and the Southwestern of Turkey. Now you notice that the Eastern part of Turkey wasn t mentioned, that is because the Eastern parts of turkey are the most mountainous parts, which tells you that it s very difficult to practice agriculture there. John Steinbeck s 1937 novel, Of Mice and Men, is a classic American novel about two ranch workers who struggle to keep their dream alive. In 1992, a MGM film adaptation directed by Gary Sinise was created. As with all book to film adaptations, many people debate over which work is better. Some say that the book is better because it creates a mood of darkness within the reader. One instance of her pent up anger hurting others is when she verbally attacks Crooks. She declares, Listen, Nigger... You know what I can do to you if you open your trap?...you keep your place, Nigger. I could get you strung up on a tree so easy it ain t even funny (Steinbeck, 79). • 11. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Noble Fir Introduction Abies magnifica and Abies procera, often referred to as red fir and noble fir, are two closely related evergreen coniferous tree species residing in moist soils at mid and high elevations of western North America (Zavarin et al. 1978). Ranging from 10 20 centimeters in sizes, these two firs are distinguished by their hockey stick structured needles among their genus (Parker 1963). Red fir, in particular, has the subgroups California red firs and intermediate Shasta red fir (Mathiasen and Daugherty 2008). Controversies on whether red fir and noble fir hybridize have long been debated in the scientific world (Critchfield 1988; Silen et al. 1965). Morphologically, red firs consist of cones larger than 15 centimeters, chained barks, more diamond shaped needles that exclude a groove, as well as basal bud scales pubescent throughout (Parker 1963; Hunt 1993). Noble firs tend to be smaller than 15 centimeters and include narrow ridged barks, grooved needles, and central basal bud scales (Parker 1963; Hunt 1993). Based on his research of thirteen separated sites, Parker reasoned that most of the fir at higher altitudes in southern Oregon as well as north western California were noble fir (Parker 1963). I will also report on two significant cases that will illustrate the concept of Indefeasibility of title, they are Frazer v Walker and Efstratiou, Glantschnig and Petrovic v Glatnschnig. Common Law Common law was implemented in New Zealand when the British settlers arrived. It was in accordance with English law and was known as the Deeds system and Act and was replaced by the Torrens system in 1870. Common Law basically stated that no one could confer a better title than the one they have and therefore if a deed was deemed invalid, so too was the title (Hinde 2013). Torrens System The Torrens system is what indefeasibility of title has been built around. It has existed since 1870 and has been refined and is now found in the Land Transfer Act 1952. This book examines experiences from all economic classes in order to evaluate the differences in education among each class. Payne talks about the different types of poverty and the resources needed to be a stable and educated person. Poverty is the extent to which an individual does without resources . There are two types of poverty, generational poverty and situational poverty. It is very important to know the difference between the two types of poverty. Situational poverty is when an event happens, for example a death, illness or divorce. Situational poverty is usually temporary because it is mainly based on the lack of financial resources rather than any other resources. Generational poverty is when a family has been in poverty for two or more generations. So they usually lack more than just financial resources. Generational poverty has different hidden rules, and beliefs than situational poverty. Generational poverty usually has violence, instability, uneducated adults, addiction, incarceration, death, and lack of space in a household. The argument behind why this system is superior is that city councils have a more citywide approach to representation, as opposed to a regional one. The goal of ward systems is to make sure that all sections of a city are equally represented by at least a single councillor. Even though cities such as Vancouver have for some reason rejected it (as seen in 2004), it is a much more fair system to all citizens of a city. The at large system easily tends to favour wealthier communities in a city. When taking Vancouver as an example, the Berger Commission of 2004 found that [it] is generally accepted that the majority of city councillors have been from the West Side. As Rebecca Dhindsa puts it, the West Side is an area with higher incomes and less unemployment than Vancouver s East Side. This shows that councillors tend to run from wealthier segments of a city in at large systems. This can be because they may be more financially well off than the candidates from the underprivileged sections, which can affect campaign financing, or as the Berger Commission states, the richer and better educated have a greater chance of informing themselves on civic issues and participating in political affairs. The defence that this system is better for a council with a citywide focus is also largely false. • 24. Volcanic and Seismic Events Are Major Pieces of Evidence... Volcanic and Seismic events are major pieces of evidence towards proving that plate tectonics theory is valid (40 marks) The theory of plate tectonics states that the Earth s lithosphere (top layer of the Earth s crust) is split up into rigid sections called plates that are moving relative to one another as they move on top of the underlying semi molten mantle. These plates are either continental, The North American Plate, or oceanic, The Nazca Plate. Tectonic plates are powered by convection currents, which is the circular movement of magma within the mantle. These currents are powered by the core, which heats the magma, causing it to rise, cool and fall back down. This circular motion causes the plates, which float on the mantle, to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Earthquakes can be created on any of the plate boundaries. Earthquakes occur when tension is released from inside the crust. Plates do not always move smoothly alongside each other and sometimes get stuck. When this happens pressure builds up. When this pressure is eventually released, an earthquake tends to occur. The point inside the crust where the pressure is released is called the focus. The point on the Earth s surface above the focus is called the epicentre. Earthquake energy is released in seismic waves. These waves spread out from the focus. The waves are felt most strongly at the epicentre, becoming less strong as they travel further away. The most severe damage caused by an earthquake will happen close to the epicentre. But there are some anomalies as there are earthquakes which don t take place on a plate boundary and it s the same with volcanoes. An example of this is Hawaii. Hawaii is a volcanic island which is found in the middle of a tectonic plate. Hawaii is an example of a hotspot. The places known as hotspots are volcanic regions thought to be fed by underlying mantle that is anomalously hot compared with the mantle elsewhere. They may be on, near to, or far from tectonic plate boundaries. There are two hypotheses to explain them. One suggests that they are due to hot mantle plumes that rise from the core mantle boundary. The other hypothesis postulates that it is not high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pathos are effectively used to in giving us (the audience) a personal connection with Ben Novak as the author takes us on hikes as a boy throughout the badlands near his home, exploring a vast petrified forest, in North Dakota. Novak frequently came across vertebrae, phalanges and rib fragments of extinct crocodiles, and other animals. With such a childhood it s no wonder that at 13, Novak pledged his life to the resurrection of extinct animals. A few years later he fell in love at first sight with passenger pigeons and has since dedicated his life to their cause. The burning passion he has for these extinct animals can t help but inspire us. He is described as overcome by awe, sadness and the birds physical beauty, and has visited 339 preserved passenger pigeons. His solid determination in the revival and restoration of these birds is also unbelievable, trying first to become a part of a lab already sequencing passenger pigeon DNA and then, when he was not accepted, writing more than 30 times to an institute to receive a sample of a bird s tissue to do it himself. There are alternatives to obtaining these additional resources, such as taking out business loans or finding a business partner, but these added expenses may in turn cause additional stress in your life, defeating the purpose of moving to Illinois seeking refuge in a more peaceful environment. I also believe it is important to research the corn crops and corn based ethanol a little bit more before jumping into a decision like this. Freud s psychoanalytical theory which is comprised of many of Freud s very unique and great theories like the tripartite mind, psychosexual developmental stages, and defense mechanisms gave insight into the inner workings of the mind that until then had not yet been discovered nor explored. After all, psychoanalysis centers on exposing the human unconscious by viewing human behavior through a deterministic lens, meaning that the mind is governed by the unconscious, instinctual drives, and other forces. Some of his theories such as his concept on the existence and meaning of psychosexual developmental stages fall under being deterministic; this is because Freud was a strong believer in psychic determinism, which is a type of determinism that theorizes that all mental processes are determined by the unconscious or preexisting mental complexes.
