Disconnection Essay
When people are feeling down or there is something wrong with them they tend to disconnect from
the world and go into one of their own. In this place they find comfort and safety and it is somewhere
that no one can bother them for the time being. I myself find comfort just lying in my bed staring at
the ceiling and drifting off in thought. For artists though, they are able to find this comforting place in
music. Blink 182, Linkin Park, and NAS are some of the famous artists that are able to disconnect
from the world through their songs. They are able to get all of there thoughts out through music and
the world has a chance to hear them.
In NAS song quot;Hate me Now quot; he feels disconnected because there ... Show more content on

In this lyric from there song quot;In the end quot; they are explaining to us what they think life is all
about. They tell us that no matter what you do in life, no matter how far you go and succeed, it just
doesn t matter when you die because God doesn t care about it. All God cares about is you as a person
and that is what he is going to judge you on in the end. The group became disconnected from the
world in order to think of this song. They must have spent a lot of time gathering there thoughts and
opinions to come up with the lyrics and verses.
The best example of feeling disconnected come from the lyrics of Blink 182 s quot;Adam s song
quot;. This song was written by the drummer of the band to express how life was on tour. quot; The
tour was over we d survived I couldn t wait till I got home to pass the time in my room alone quot;.
All the drummer wants to do is go home to lie in his bed and disconnect from the world. He had been
on tour for months entertaining people and he never had anytime for himself so all he wanted to do
was be alone and not have to make anyone but himself happy.
Song writers are excellent on expressing their feeling os disconnection from he world because they
usually never have anytime to be themselves so they express is through song. I think that everyone
needs time to disconnect in one way or another. It gives you time to be by yourself and think about
things that are

Plastic Waste Of Plastics
Plastic waste Americans are generating more plastic trash than ever, and very little of it gets recycled.
Plastics and their byproducts are littering our cities, oceans, and waterways, and contributing to health
problems in humans and animals.Plastic pollution is one of the greatest threats to ocean health
worldwide. In spite of society s many efforts to properly dispose of plastic waste, between 4 and 12
million metric tons of plastic waste enter the ocean each year enough to cover every foot of coastline
on the planet. And that amount is expected to more than double in the next 10 years Stop using plastic
straws, even in restaurants. If a straw is a must, purchase a reusable stainless steel or glass straw.
How can you stop plastic waste
One of the easiest ways to keep plastic out of the landfill is to refuse plastic straws. Simply inform
your waiter or waitress that you don t need one, and make sure to specify this when ordering at a drive
thru. Can t fathom giving up the convenience of straws? Purchase a reusable stainless steel or glass
drinking straw. Restaurants are less likely to bring you a plastic one if they see that you ve brought
your own.The things about plastic bags that there are 1 million plastic bags are used every minute, and
a single plastic bag can take 1,000 years to degrade. If you re already bringing reusable bags to the
grocery store, you re on the right track, but if you re still using plastic produce bags, it s time to make
a change. Purchase some

The Life And Works Of Nathaniel Hawthorne
Nathaniel Hawthorne was an outstanding writer from the nineteenth century. He wrote themes that
could be understood by people in his time and today. His use of literary devices such as fantasy, irony,
symbolism, and illusion made his works very entertaining and powerful.
Nathaniel Hawthorne was born on July 4, 1804, in Salem, Massachusetts. Nathaniel Hawthorne s life
was surrounded by the Puritan legacy, he had an early ancestor named William Hathorne, and he was
one of the first people to emigrate to the United States. Nathaniel later added the w to his last name to
distance himself from this side of the family. Nathaniel was an only child, his parent s names were
Nathaniel and Elizabeth Hathorne. The family later had financial problems,

Bicycle Thief Essay
The Bicycle Thief The Bicycle Thief is probably the best known and most highly praised of all the
Italian Neorealist films of its era. The films of the Neorealist movement were characterized by several
primary ideas. Instead of featuring stories focusing on glitz and glamour, Neorealist films focused on
the poor and the working class. Instead of building and fabricating complex sets to film on, they did
their filming on location. And instead of trying to get the most well known, highly paid celebrity
actors, they frequently used people that weren t even professional actors and had no training for their
starring roles. This all helped lend a sense of realism and weight to the stories. The Bicycle Thief takes
place in Rome during a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With no other choice, Antonio takes to the streets and searches for his bike for hours, but comes up
empty handed. The scene where he and his son are caught in the rain, soaked and downtrodden, as all
around him people on their bikes are riding away really makes poignant the hopelessness of his
situation. After trying everything he can think of to get any leads on the thief or the location of his
bike, go so far as to even spend what little money he has left on a fortune teller, he happens to bump
into the thief in question walking down the street. He chases and finally corners him, but the thief
refuses to confess anything and his family and friends defend him from the furious Antonio. The cops
arrive, and yet again, they are of no help. They can t do anything for Antonio as he has no concrete
evidence of the crime. Pushed to the final point of desperation, Antonio realizes he has no choice left
but to stoop to the lowest level and steal a bike if he doesn t want his family to starve. He tries to
snatch one but is almost immediately taken down by witnesses and held until the police arrive. Seeing
Antonio s son distraught and in tears, the man doesn t press charge and lets him off the hook. Antonio
and his son walk off, both of them in tears, completely hopeless and beaten by society at every turn.
This is what Italian Neorealism is all about. For millions upon millions

The Impact Of Globalization On The Sami People
The Sami people are an indigenous group spreading through parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and
Russia. The majority of them are reindeer herders and migrate with herds across many national
borders. The global population of indigenous peoples is estimated at 300 million people, including
over 5,000 different groups across 70 countries. The total Sami population is at an estimated
population of 70,000, more than half, 40,000 live in Norway, 20,000 live in Sweden, 6,000 in Finland
and 2,000 in Russia. Almost 10,000 are involved in reindeer husbandry and cover an area of 157,487
square kilometers (Sami People, 2013). Globalization has affected this group in many different ways
throughout the years. The largest impact of globalization on the Sami is their new found dependence
on consumer goods. Traditionally, Sami herders relied on a mutual cooperation between each other on
the management of local environments and reindeer population in northern Scandinavia (Sami People,
2013). Reindeer herding in Finland represents a lifestyle and occupation for about 1,000 families who
rely on approximately 200,000 reindeer. While any citizen of the European Union who is permanently
domiciled in a reindeer area of Finland may breed reindeer, Norway and Sweden reserve reindeer
husbandry for Sámi people (Dana and Dana, 2007). The boundaries of the year round and winter
grazing lands of the Sami are specified in the Reindeer Grazing Act of 1886 and subsequent relevant
legislation. Reindeer

Compare And Contrast Circe s Power And One Art
Being confident can sometimes get you through tough times but sometimes can make others think you
re conceited. Being resilient helps you to move on through tough times. Being direct can help you to
get a point across. In One Art by Elizabeth Bishop, the speaker is someone who has lost but moves on.
In Circe s Power by Louise Gluck, the speaker is Circe and on his journey, Odysseus and his men
came upon her, and she turned them into pigs. In One Art by Elizabeth Bishop and Circe s Power by
Louise Gluck, both speakers have a confident tone towards their audiences. On the other hand in One

able to move on in their life. When the speaker is giving advice to the audience, the speaker says,
None of these will bring disaster. (Bishop line 9). This proves that the speaker knows that everything
will be all right. The words disaster means something very bad so the speaker knows that nothing bad
will happen. The speaker is confident because they know that nothing absolutely terrible will happen.
When the speaker is talking to the audience, the speaker says, It s evident / the art of losing s not too

Hindu Weddings Essay
Marriage is the institution whereby men and women are joined in a special kind of social and legal
dependence for the purpose of founding and maintaining a family. (Webster s Dictionary.) When a
couple gets married they make a vow in front of their loved ones and their God to be together for the
rest of their lives and abide by each other. In the Hindu religion, which is the third largest religion in
the world, weddings are very sacred, therefore a wedding ceremony takes a lot of time and effort and
it is composed of different rituals and ceremonies. The Hindu marriage, Lagna Vivah is the connection

Therefore you can never marry someone outside your caste even if you are truly in love with someone
outside your caste your marriage will never be favored. If a couple still goes ahead and proceeds with
marrying even though they are from two different castes, there family will basically disown them and
so they will have to deal with a lot of public pressure from their family as well as outsiders. Today the
idea of arranged marriages is overlooked as a forced marriage from other society s point of views.
Hindus arrange their children to meet partners they think are well suitable for them but this does not
mean the son or daughter has to automatically marry this person they have been introduced to. They
have a choice whether to go along with it or not. They are not forced at any point to marry this person.
Years ago parents arranged their children marriages while their children were very young and even
babies. They understood that if the kids grew up together over the years they will learn everything
there was to know about each other and so everything will basically work out to their advantage. Even

until she was matured, until then she will just visit him and his family. The wedding will occur before

Twelfth Night Mistaken Identity Essay
Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare should be considered a comedy because it fulfills all the
elements of comedy, specifically puns and mistaken identity. Twelfth Night is a play about twins who
are shipwrecked and separated. One of the twins, Viola, disguises herself as a man so she can work in
Duke Orsino s court. She quickly befriends him and is sent to woo Countess Olivia, the object of
Orsino s affection. Much to her dismay, Viola falls in love with the Duke and Olivia falls in love with
her disguised, masculine self. This hilarious play is a shakespearean comedy because it is composed of
five elements: puns, complex plots, mistaken identity, happy endings, and insults. Puns are a play on
words that create a double meaning. This can be confusing like complex ... Show more content on

Typical in other shakespearean comedies, Twelfth Night immediately uses mistaken identity when
Viola disguises herself as a man. But the most hysterical example of mistaken identity in Twelfth
Night is Malvolio´s love letter. Malvolio is a pompous steward of Olivia who the other servants do not
like. After being scolded by him, Maria, along with Sir Toby and another servant play a trick on
Malvolio. Since Malvolio is secretly in love with Olivia, Maria forges a letter declaring her love for
him in Olivia s penmanship. This leads Malvolio to believe Olivia loves him back. The letter asks
Malvolio to show he loves her back by ¨let it appear in thy smiling¨ (Shakespeare). Now whenever
Malvolio is in Olivia´s presence, he vows to smile. This is hilarious because Olivia is still mourning
her brother´s death whilst he stands around her, smiling like an idiot. Maria pretended to be Olivia and
now Malvolio looks like a fool. Her mistaken identity generates humor in the manner that Malvolio is
humbled from his condescending position. Shakespeare s use of mistaken identity and puns makes

Development in Charter Schools Essay
In 1988, Ray Budde (A University of Massachusetts Amherst Professor) felt that something needed to
be done to improve the public education system in the United States. Falling test scores and rising
dropout rates provoked a movement for reform. Ray Budde pointed out many restrictions set by state
governments that inhibited the potential of many students and how these restrictions were damaging
the educational system rather than maintaining it. He proposed a plan that would eliminate these
restrictions and create a system where students would excel. This idea took hold when the American
Federation of Teachers adopted the idea and set up the first Charter Schools in Minnesota in 1991.
These were the first of many charter schools in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although very risky, starting a charter school has its advantages too. A study performed by Phi Delta
Kappa International focuses on the differences between charter schools and public schools. This study
gives a comprehensive interpretation of the advantages charter schools have over public schools. The
study mainly focuses on the management aspect of the charter schools and shows how principals of
charter schools use their power to put their schools ahead of public schools. A former public school
principle interviewed eight charter school principals on how they hired teachers. The interviews
suggested that charters schools are serving as exciting seedbeds for new approaches to finding,
employing, and keeping better teachers. ( Finn) Interestingly enough some principals would be willing
to hire non state certified teachers to meet their standards of quality. These principals were looking for
was a teacher who was highly intelligent, had prestigious college background, was articulate, and
liked kids. (Finn) Although they would be taking a risk hiring someone without the standard teaching
qualifications set by the state, they knew that with their intelligence and prestige, they would strive to
educate the children as they would themselves. The charter school system gives the principal the
power to hire teachers which enables them to select the teachers that match the needs and culture of
their school. Most of these principals look for overachievers, those who want to

Social And Social Class In Charles DickensGreat Expectations
In the novel Great Expectations, author and social reformer, Charles Dickens presents an appropriate
example of hope in class mobility. Social and financial status performs a real role in our society, even
today. Similar to Dickens time, the well off tend to get more acknowledgment and the lower class
tends to get a bad reputation for being uneducated citizens. He hoped to rectify to improve society.
The primary theme is social class has no connection to moral merit.
The novel is narrated from the point of view of the main character, Pip. He narrates to the audience
throughout his life, illustrating the contrasting stages from childhood to gentleman. In Pips belief,
becoming a gentleman will automatically construct happiness in himself. Pip was a child whose
parents died when he was very young. He tells the story of being raised by his sister, Mrs. Joe and her
husband, Joe Gargery, whom Pip shares a special kind of camaraderie. I wished Joe had been rather
more genteelly brought up, and then I should have been so too. (ch.8) Unfortunately, the three of them
live in a village which classifies them as poor.
Pip is informed of a letter left on the front door, by his sister, inviting him to go over to Miss
Havisham s house. I had heard of Miss Havisham up town everybody for miles round, had heard of
Miss Havisham up town as an immensely rich and grim lady who lived in a large and dismal house

Christ Figure In A Separate Peace And Cool Hand Luke
A Christ Figure is an archetype in literature that echoes the presence and actions of Jesus Christ. These
characters are often a martyr who sacrifices himself for the betterment of those around him. John
Knowles A Separate Peace, Ken Kesey s One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, and the film Cool Hand
Luke are all prime example of works that include a Christ Figure. These characters display
characteristics of a Christ Figure, obvious and subtle, including performing miracles, death and
resurrection, images of the Last Supper, and an ultimate sacrifice. A Christ Figure will often perform
actions that are considered miracles by those around him. The film Cool Hand Luke focuses on the
titular character, Luke, a prisoner who refuses to conform to life in prison. Luke performs miracles on

His resurrection is when he returns to school, restoring his presence. In Cool Hand Luke, Luke also
experiences death and resurrection. After Luke s multiple escape attempts, the guards force Luke to

Auschwitz Death Camp Research Paper
Auschwitz Death Camp Auschwitz is well known to all of us. This camp had been owned by Hitler
and many other commanders. The Nazi s treated the Jews like animals. They would beat them and the
Jews were scared to stand up to them. Many Jews lost their loved ones, family members, children,
parents and even grandparents. However, Auschwitz will always be known as a horrible place, like as
the Death Camp , what they would do to the Jews if they were unfit for work, how was it for a typical
prisoner, the purpose for the selection, and what happened when the Soviet Army came. To begin
with, Auschwitz had the nickname the Death Camp , and it had been a very cruel place to many Jews.
It was well known that Auschwitz had many deaths within the Holocaust. When the prisoners saw
over the main entrance they saw the words Arbeit Macht Feri (work makes you free) . As the
prisoners, they would think that if they work hard enough they would get out of the camp, but the sad
truth was that the prisoners were doomed to slave labor and death was the only real escape. Auschwitz
had many gas chambers and big pits for the Jews that had been gassed. Once these prisoners had
entered the gates many of them were unfit and was sent to the gas chambers or were immediately shot

Transforming Nursing and Healthcare Through Technology
Transforming Nursing and Healthcare Through Technology Introduction The unification of healthcare
information systems must be driven first by the continual integration of key process areas, ensuring
responsiveness to each stakeholder and most of all, the patient. Integration between healthcare systems
however can be daunting and aside from the costs of change management, the most costly aspect of
any healthcare information technology initiative (Sadeghi, Benyoucef, Kuziemsky, 2012). The intent
of this analysis is to evaluate the challenges that healthcare organizations face when sharing data
across systems. Second, two specific interoperability challenges are discussed, and third, two
strategies a healthcare organization can use to address interoperability challenges are discussed.
Challenges Healthcare Organizations Face With Systems Integration The nature of healthcare
processes and the systems supporting them is to grow more separate and siloed over time, as each
often have unique roles in a healthcare organization. Breaking down the process barriers and creating
a highly unified, collaborative healthcare information technologies platform is critical for any
healthcare provider to continually deliver excellent service to patients (Bernstein, McCreless, Côté,
2007). The challenges of integrating healthcare processes and their supporting systems together
include managing often highly diverse data formats and definitions of database records (Abu Samaha,
2003); high

Nature Overcomes Man In Jack London s To Build A Fire
Nature overcomes man. Jack London, the author of To Build a Fire, depicts this theme in his short
story. In To Build a Fire London s character who has no given name travels Yukon with no one but his
Husky to meet some of his friends. Despite warning to not travel alone in such frigid temperatures, he
makes the journey anyways and finds himself at the mercy of mother nature. In such cold
circumstances and having stepped in water, the man attempts to build a fire. Having failed to start a
fire to thaw out his hands and feet, he grows anxious and runs around trying to bring the feeling back
into his limbs. A realization dawns on the man that he is going to die, so he calms down and decides to
die with dignity. He lays down and meets his end as his husky watches nearby. London uses his
characters survival instincts, the story s setting, and the husky to illustrate the theme: humankind
cannot overcome nature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the man grows fearful and he begins to accept that his attempts to build a fire were of no use, he

a hold of the animal but not long after he realize[s] that he [can] not kill the dog. There was no way to
do it. With his helpless hands he could neither draw nor hold his sheath knife nor throttle the animal

were so frostbitten and numb that he was unable to grip the knife or the dog to save himself. Similarly,

Impact Of Tourism On The Tourism Industry
1. Introduction
We now live in an age penetrated with revolution, cooperation and competition. With the dramatic
development of the global economy and industrialization, there has been a dramatic increase in travel
over the last few decades.
Ashworth, G. Page, S.J. argue as if it is a general truth that the tourism industry clearly needs the
varied, flexible and accessible tourism product that cities provide: it is by no means so clear that cities
need tourism (Urban Tourism Research: Recent progress and current paradoxes, Tourism
Management, Vol. 32, pp 1 15.). This essay, supports part of the quote, which claims that it is
necessary for contemporary cities to offer several types of tourism products for the tourism industry
which could be easily reached to the tourists. However, it is doubtful that the tourism modern day
cities do not need the tourism industry.
The structure of the paper is as follows.
This essay consists of two parts. In the first part, the reason why variable city tourism products are
needed would be explained. In the second part, which would be the main part of this paper, the fact
that some cities do need the tourism industry to boost their economy is illustrated by some examples.
These two parts are independent of each other.
2. The relationship between the tourism industry and tourism products
2.1 What is a tourism product?
Mason (2000) and Poerwanto (1998) have made the formulation of the components of tourism
product, that is:

Define Worldview And What Happens To A Human Being
INTRODUCTION Waking up in the morning thinking about why, how, when and what is the
importance of the world we live in and the interactions with others mean to us. Defining worldview is
essentially a commitment, a fundamental orientation of the heart, that can be expressed as a story or in
a set of presuppositions that we hold about the basic constitution of reality, and that provides the
foundation on which we live and move and have our being (Sire, 2016).On the other hand spirituality
holds the essence of our existence on this earth. Spirituality makes someone feel the connection to
something. This is where our beliefs comes in. It depends on which religion you belong to, to define
spirituality better. Spirituality is the wellspring of divinity that pulsates, dances, and flows as the
source and essence of every soul. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Believing that God created man in His own image is what I believe. Some people view the human
being as a highly complex machine, a sleeping god, a person made in the image of God, a naked ape
(Sire, 2016, p12). Whatever people believe, God is the answer to this question and they is no doubt
that God created a human being.
What Happens to a Person at Death? Most religions do not believe life after death. Most of them
believe in incarnation. But as a Christian, I believe they is heaven and hell. If you are living right with
God, your soul goes back to heaven but if not, you go hell. As the bible says in Revelation 20:10 And
the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false
prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever (King James Bible, 2016, p.6).
Why is it Possible to Know Anything at All? You understanding about the existence of God and the
world depends on what you believe. As bible talks about the creation of the world and that God exists
is what I have been taught and know since I was

Jules Ferry s Speech On Imperialism
According to the content section of this chapter Imperialism, means, the subjugation, domination, and
exploitation of almost the entire globe to the economic and political needs of one region (Europe), a
development unprecedented in human history. To a neutral viewer this may appear like a beneficial
idea. During the 1800s and early 1900s, Imperialism was seen as a benefit to some and others did not
see it as this. Many European nations such as Great Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, as well as
some other nations were gaining land. Many people had opposing views regarding imperialism. Those
who were in favor of imperialism often argued that it was beneficial based on nationalism, economic
gains, the fervor missions of the Christians, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jules Ferry s idea about making the trade better is a great idea, but unfortunately would not work like
he thinks. The other country would not be willingly let imperialists take over. Jule s speech continues
with a response from M. Camille Pelletan, an honorable audience member, he states What is this
civilization which you impose with can non balls? What is it but another form of barbarism? Don t
these populations, these inferior races, have the same rights as you? Aren t they masters of their own
houses? (258). Pelletan jeers and condemns Ferry, but Ferry sticks to his racist ideas and continues to
put the inferior races under him. Ferry continues to talk about the superiority he thinks Europe has
over everyone. He states, Gentlemen, I must speak from a higher and more truthful plane. (258). Ferry
is showing that he thinks he is superior to those he is speaking to and sees himself as a superior to

Tess of the D Urbervilles Essay
Tess of the D Urbervilles was first published in 1891 to mixed reviews. The book is about the
character Tess and it is a haunting and tragic tale set in England in the Victorian times in around about
the mid 1800 s. The book was intially turned down by publishers because the story included seduction
and illegitimate birth. In the book Hardy uses a lot of symbolism, some of which foreshadows the
events that occur later in the story. Tess s world is rural Wessex where agriculture was the most
important industry. The story contains many rustic characters which are links back to Hardy s own
life; the rustic characters are friendly and understanding and do not judge other people as much as the
aristocratic chracters.

There is another point in the book where Tess prays at what she thinks is some sort of holy relic but
later finds out it was the grave of an evil man, Tis a thing of ill omen, Miss. It ws put up in wuld times
by the relations of a malefactor who was tortured there by nailing his hands to a post and afterwards
hung. the bones lie underneath. They say he sold his soul to the devil, and that he walks at times , this
foreshadows when she is hung at the end of the book.
Another use of symobolism is used late in the book where Tess and Angel are at stonehenge, But Tess,
really tired by this time, flung herself upon an oblong slab that lay close at hand, and was sheltered
from the wind by a pillar , some people speculate that ritualized funerary processions where held at
stonehenge which could foreshadow her coming death or this could be a reference to sacrifice, and the
stone of sacrifice midway . Also when Tess spends a night in the woods she is described like she is
hiding and there is also the story of the deer, this is foreshadowing to when she becomes a wanted
criminal and is hunted by the authorities, It is no use, sir, he said. There are sixteen of us on the plain,
and the whole country is reared.
The rustic characters in Tess of the D Urbervilles are links to Hardy s life. They are described as

Rainforest Meets The Sea Rhyme Scheme
Two of the poems that I wrote were the limerick, Sam s Journey , and the six room image poem,
Rainforest Meets the Sea . Sam s Journey is about Sam and how he went on the lamb. He went to
many houses and was quick when he was on the run. Rainforest Meets the Sea is about Costa Rica and
the wonders that are there. Since I have been there twice in my life, I know much about it. In Sam s
Journey , I used a rhyme scheme, and in Rainforest Meets the Sea , I used repetition. Rhyme scheme is
the pattern in which the lines rhyme. For example, there could be a rhyme scheme of ABAB when
every other line rhymes with each other. Repetition is when a poet repeats a certain word, line, or
stanza within a poem. It is usually used to put emphasis on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They can be anything from ABAB to ABACAD, or anything in between. In Sam s Journey , I used
AABBA. In order, the end of each line was Sam, lamb, houses, mouses, and BAM. Using this rhyme
scheme helped my poem in that it makes it flow. When you read it aloud, it has a rhythm. The
repetition that I used was in the poem, Rainforest Meets the Sea . At the end of the poem, I repeated
the phrase, rainforest meets the sea three times. I wanted to show the importance of that phrase to the
readers. Costa Rica is known for having the rainforest and the ocean right next to each other, so I
thought that I should repeat that certain phrase. This phrase also repeats the main subject of the poem
without repeating Costa Rica over and over again.
One thing that I had difficulty with while writing some of the poems was making some of the lines
rhyme and make sense. One of the poems that I wrote, but did not include in the portfolio was the
seasonal poem. I was writing about winter and had the word cocoa at the end of one of my lines. Since
there are not many words that rhyme with cocoa, I had to change it to hot chocolate. Changing this
messed up the meter that I was trying to incorporate into the

Definition Of Comedy Essay
Some Risky Business The moment you all have been waiting for. You see the mic stand, the mic, a
stool, and a bottle of water. The stage is empty and silent, then someone appears on the stage. But in
that moment, you don t think about the reasons for your great anticipation, whether it is because
someone is entering the stage or the on coming laughter that you look forward to. This is one of stand
up comedy s greatest mysteries. These unknown mysteries bring life into us in many ways. Comedy
captures minds, by changing, evolving, and redefining everything we did or did not think. This
gateway to bliss aids our bodies through chemicals we produce. But most importantly, it is a huge
factor in our human makeup, and how we communicate and relate ... Show more content on

The meaning of laughter to all is not as simple, but much more complex. Comedians use comedy as a
door to educate minds, while using laughter as a safety room. Jokes are made by a formula, one
critiqued and created to perfection to make the listener believe in what they are saying. So, when the
moment comes and a joke is said, not only is the listener s voice unleashing sounds, but their minds
are releasing thoughts and questions. The question also begs us to consider when we laugh, with
whom, at whom, at what, and why (Carter and Villaverde, 104). Picture this, a room full of people that
are crying from laughter, heaving because they are out of breath, and smiling uncontrollably, right
after you release your deepest thoughts in one joke. This is the moment comedians live for, because
knowing that the crowd laughed meant they are right where the comedians need them, vulnerable. In
those few seconds the crowd is impressionable, laughing while questioning everything they ever
thought. This here is the change comedians have been looking for. In a TEDtalk with Chris Bliss
called Chris Bliss: Comedy Is Translation, he stated, Every act of communication is an act of
translation. In short, the language of comedy is a simple truth. Comedy educates in its own language.

Persuasive Essay On The Power Of Privacy
Technology and the Internet have evolved over the years to the point where it is used daily by millions
of people. As a result, people s privacy are more susceptible to invasion than ever before. Most people
had no reason to question their privacy until the Snowden revelations of 2013 or the celebrity photo
leak in 2014. However, as demonstrated through the documentary The Power of Privacy by the
Guardian, it is very easy to have your personal information stolen or discovered by others. As
technology continues to advance, Our attitudes and the law, haven t caught up yet (The Guardian

educated on how to protect their digital information. This documentary effectively displays the
importance of protecting digital privacy through demonstrating how easy it is to stalk people, lose
control of personal information and even have devices hacked. Individuals need to learn how to
protect their privacy in the online world in order to prevent such actions against them.
As the Internet has grown to become a popular tool, it has also left people s information available to
the world such as their address, email or telephone number. Most people are aware of the risks
involved with posting online and often implement privacy features on social media allowing only
friends and followers to see their information. However, these actions are not enough. An analysis by

How Does Aphra Behn Show Loyalty In Oroonoko
One of the key themes present throughout Aphra Behn s Oroonoko is betrayal based solely on the
concept of trust. Throughout history, fine literature has provided us with novels that reveal betrayal as
the base and themes of the story. For example, Oroonoko s deepest values of trust and loyalty are
turned against him. His trust in friendship and honorable truth to his word, expose him to the treachery
of Europeans/Africans who calculate human worth on a measure of profit and fear. A man without his
word is nothing. Trust is the basis of all human collaboration: without it, our world wouldn t exist, as
we know it. A hero cannot survive in such a world, a tangle of assurance and betrayals. Behn uses

The Learning Styles Of The Language
Children are normally found to be successful in acquiring a language that is spoken or signed to them
during their early developmental years, successful here meaning native level proficiency. Unless a
child is completely removed from an environment where language is communicated the child will
eventually learn a first language in due time with support from care givers and parents. When one
attempts to acquire a second language this is not always the case though. Many more factors go into

Gender Issues in August Strindberg s Miss Julie
August Strindberg was undoubtedly a contemporary writer, but where gender issues were concerned,
he preferred to support the past. His work reflected the cultural and societal environment around him
in 1887; this suggests themes throughout Miss Julie, such as gender inequality and women s rights,
were inflicted by his own struggle between classes and promiscuous relationships with women. It
becomes apparent in the play that Miss Julie, a self portrait of Strindberg, typifies Strindberg s creative
energy and the close relationship between his writing and lifestyle. Miss Julie s downfall can be

The Grateful Dead fused country, blues, jazz, and bluegrass on electric instruments and held acid tests
where LSD was given to thousands of people and a concert was held all day. Janis Joplin was also a
major part of the psychedelic era. Blues also heavily influenced Janis, who greatly admired the female
blues singer Odetta (Kallen 65). Janis is most remembered for her heavily emotional voice in songs
such as Piece of My Heart and Ball and Chain where she sang with her face contorted, sometimes
stamping her feet, clutching the microphone with one hand, and a whiskey bottle with the other. Of all
the artists of the psychedelic era, Jimi Hendrix was the most influential. Jimi took inspiration from the

Although Jimi seemed like a very wild and unpredictable person on stage he was actually a focused

and Jimi certainly did all that. (Lanham 102) But as

Censorship in the United States Essay

Censorship on television in the United States has been an issue ever since the television was invented.
The public holds a variety of stances on the topic, and no matter what law is ever passed regarding
censorship, it will never suit the needs of everyone. Some believe that censorship violates individual
rights in the law, and others believe that censorship should be available through members in the
family, not the government. On the other hand, some people strive to maintain government regulation
of censorship. Television censorship is significant because it holds the future of our country. If

Children are also drawn to more mature programs in order to make them feel older and more mature
by watching them, which is why the swearing and nudity need to be cut out. I support this view
mainly because of an experience I had when I was about five years old. I snuck into the TV room
without my parents knowing, and when I was flipping through the channels, I stopped on a channel
that was showing the movie Die Hard. Just from watching a short segment of that movie, I quickly
learned the f word and said it in class the next day. This initial view on censorship is significant
because it can prevent children, who are the most influenced by TV, from practicing what they see.
They will not learn these words or actions at an early age, like I did, and therefore will not get into
trouble in school or teach them to other children. The downside to this stance is that it violates the

the issue. I typed the keywords government censorship and stances and found a number of articles.

In A Primer on Social Movements, David A. Snow and Sarah A. Soule identify five conditions for a
social movement to be considered as such. First, a social movement has to challenge existing systems

criterion in that the movement was born in response to changes in laws by the Canadian federal

women is becoming higher and higher. Back to the past, the social status of women was very low.
They could not even go to school or work outside. According to Images of Women in Early Buddhism
and Christian Gnosticism , Karen Christina Lang uses many Buddhist and Gnostic scriptures to

Lang examines that if a women wants to involve in the community, she would have to change her
mind to man. Lang also mentions that Buddhist thinks that the highest goddess is neither a male nor
female (Lang 95 103). What she wants to argue is that women should not be tied with sexuality and
impurity. Somehow, woman is equal to man because to become a highest goddess, there should not
have a gender problem.
On the other hand, Pagels focuses more on the gender of God. Pagels rises the question of is God
masculine, and in the article, she uses different gospels to conclude that the God in Christians eyes is
gathering the finest things of man and woman; which in the article, she mentions the bisexual power .
She also uses Jesus birth as an example of divine power. As it is well known that Jesus mother, Mary
is virgin birth, in this way, people believe that this is a combined power of the Father of All and the
Holy Spirit . Pagels writes about the equal treatment for women in some Gnostic beliefs. She uses the
birth of Jesus and the words of Jesus to bring up the equality social status of women in the early
centuries. For example, on earth, Jesus has a father, Joseph, and a mother, Mary, which explains that
man and woman are equally important to the world. Even in divine heaven, Jesus also has the Father

The Factors Of Food Waste In Public Schools
Growing research shows steady increase in food waste throughout the globe. One largely contributing
factor is food waste produced from the public schools. The amount of food wasted in schools,
according to the USDA, has ranged between 10 37% of calories served (Buzby, J., Guthrie, J., 2002).
It is difficult to compare public school waste to global amounts due to the scarcity of specific data this
would depend on region, economic status and additional factors associated with how and why food is
wasted in schools. Having said that, this is a large enough problem that it is actively noticed and
prompting intervention. With these numbers rising, food waste negatively impacts costs for the
community, carbon emissions, water use and more.
However, students in the public schools are not completely to blame, as some factors affect food waste
after the implementation of some lunch programs, which are targeted to increase encourage students to
reach their recommended adequate intake of nutrients, such as the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of
2010 (Hakim, S., Meissen, G., 2017). Likewise, food serving methods have also played a role in the
amount of food wasted by students, by using the offer model and serve model approaches in
cafeterias. A non exclusive list of other issues affecting food waste in schools are: socioeconomic
status, accessibility of food at home, the time of day food is consumed, the amount of time given to

McVeigh along with Terry Nichols had received indictments on murder charges as well as using
explosives in an unlawful manner. McVeigh s ideology changed from hating governments that were

  • 2. Disconnection Essay When people are feeling down or there is something wrong with them they tend to disconnect from the world and go into one of their own. In this place they find comfort and safety and it is somewhere that no one can bother them for the time being. I myself find comfort just lying in my bed staring at the ceiling and drifting off in thought. For artists though, they are able to find this comforting place in music. Blink 182, Linkin Park, and NAS are some of the famous artists that are able to disconnect from the world through their songs. They are able to get all of there thoughts out through music and the world has a chance to hear them. In NAS song quot;Hate me Now quot; he feels disconnected because there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this lyric from there song quot;In the end quot; they are explaining to us what they think life is all about. They tell us that no matter what you do in life, no matter how far you go and succeed, it just doesn t matter when you die because God doesn t care about it. All God cares about is you as a person and that is what he is going to judge you on in the end. The group became disconnected from the world in order to think of this song. They must have spent a lot of time gathering there thoughts and opinions to come up with the lyrics and verses. The best example of feeling disconnected come from the lyrics of Blink 182 s quot;Adam s song quot;. This song was written by the drummer of the band to express how life was on tour. quot; The tour was over we d survived I couldn t wait till I got home to pass the time in my room alone quot;. All the drummer wants to do is go home to lie in his bed and disconnect from the world. He had been on tour for months entertaining people and he never had anytime for himself so all he wanted to do was be alone and not have to make anyone but himself happy. Song writers are excellent on expressing their feeling os disconnection from he world because they usually never have anytime to be themselves so they express is through song. I think that everyone needs time to disconnect in one way or another. It gives you time to be by yourself and think about things that are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Plastic Waste Of Plastics Plastic waste Americans are generating more plastic trash than ever, and very little of it gets recycled. Plastics and their byproducts are littering our cities, oceans, and waterways, and contributing to health problems in humans and animals.Plastic pollution is one of the greatest threats to ocean health worldwide. In spite of society s many efforts to properly dispose of plastic waste, between 4 and 12 million metric tons of plastic waste enter the ocean each year enough to cover every foot of coastline on the planet. And that amount is expected to more than double in the next 10 years Stop using plastic straws, even in restaurants. If a straw is a must, purchase a reusable stainless steel or glass straw. How can you stop plastic waste One of the easiest ways to keep plastic out of the landfill is to refuse plastic straws. Simply inform your waiter or waitress that you don t need one, and make sure to specify this when ordering at a drive thru. Can t fathom giving up the convenience of straws? Purchase a reusable stainless steel or glass drinking straw. Restaurants are less likely to bring you a plastic one if they see that you ve brought your own.The things about plastic bags that there are 1 million plastic bags are used every minute, and a single plastic bag can take 1,000 years to degrade. • 5. Bicycle Thief Essay The Bicycle Thief The Bicycle Thief is probably the best known and most highly praised of all the Italian Neorealist films of its era. The films of the Neorealist movement were characterized by several primary ideas. Instead of featuring stories focusing on glitz and glamour, Neorealist films focused on the poor and the working class. Instead of building and fabricating complex sets to film on, they did their filming on location. And instead of trying to get the most well known, highly paid celebrity actors, they frequently used people that weren t even professional actors and had no training for their starring roles. This all helped lend a sense of realism and weight to the stories. The Bicycle Thief takes place in Rome during a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With no other choice, Antonio takes to the streets and searches for his bike for hours, but comes up empty handed. The scene where he and his son are caught in the rain, soaked and downtrodden, as all around him people on their bikes are riding away really makes poignant the hopelessness of his situation. After trying everything he can think of to get any leads on the thief or the location of his bike, go so far as to even spend what little money he has left on a fortune teller, he happens to bump into the thief in question walking down the street. He chases and finally corners him, but the thief refuses to confess anything and his family and friends defend him from the furious Antonio. The cops arrive, and yet again, they are of no help. They can t do anything for Antonio as he has no concrete evidence of the crime. Pushed to the final point of desperation, Antonio realizes he has no choice left but to stoop to the lowest level and steal a bike if he doesn t want his family to starve. He tries to snatch one but is almost immediately taken down by witnesses and held until the police arrive. Seeing Antonio s son distraught and in tears, the man doesn t press charge and lets him off the hook. • 6. The Impact Of Globalization On The Sami People The Sami people are an indigenous group spreading through parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia. The majority of them are reindeer herders and migrate with herds across many national borders. The global population of indigenous peoples is estimated at 300 million people, including over 5,000 different groups across 70 countries. The total Sami population is at an estimated population of 70,000, more than half, 40,000 live in Norway, 20,000 live in Sweden, 6,000 in Finland and 2,000 in Russia. Almost 10,000 are involved in reindeer husbandry and cover an area of 157,487 square kilometers (Sami People, 2013). Globalization has affected this group in many different ways throughout the years. The largest impact of globalization on the Sami is their new found dependence on consumer goods. Traditionally, Sami herders relied on a mutual cooperation between each other on the management of local environments and reindeer population in northern Scandinavia (Sami People, 2013). Reindeer herding in Finland represents a lifestyle and occupation for about 1,000 families who rely on approximately 200,000 reindeer. While any citizen of the European Union who is permanently domiciled in a reindeer area of Finland may breed reindeer, Norway and Sweden reserve reindeer husbandry for Sámi people (Dana and Dana, 2007). Typical in other shakespearean comedies, Twelfth Night immediately uses mistaken identity when Viola disguises herself as a man. But the most hysterical example of mistaken identity in Twelfth Night is Malvolio´s love letter. Malvolio is a pompous steward of Olivia who the other servants do not like. After being scolded by him, Maria, along with Sir Toby and another servant play a trick on Malvolio. Since Malvolio is secretly in love with Olivia, Maria forges a letter declaring her love for him in Olivia s penmanship. This leads Malvolio to believe Olivia loves him back. The letter asks Malvolio to show he loves her back by ¨let it appear in thy smiling¨ (Shakespeare). Now whenever Malvolio is in Olivia´s presence, he vows to smile. This is hilarious because Olivia is still mourning her brother´s death whilst he stands around her, smiling like an idiot. Maria pretended to be Olivia and now Malvolio looks like a fool. Her mistaken identity generates humor in the manner that Malvolio is humbled from his condescending position. Shakespeare s use of mistaken identity and puns makes Twelfth Night a ... Transforming Nursing and Healthcare Through Technology Transforming Nursing and Healthcare Through Technology Introduction The unification of healthcare information systems must be driven first by the continual integration of key process areas, ensuring responsiveness to each stakeholder and most of all, the patient. Integration between healthcare systems however can be daunting and aside from the costs of change management, the most costly aspect of any healthcare information technology initiative (Sadeghi, Benyoucef, Kuziemsky, 2012). The intent of this analysis is to evaluate the challenges that healthcare organizations face when sharing data across systems. Challenges Healthcare Organizations Face With Systems Integration The nature of healthcare processes and the systems supporting them is to grow more separate and siloed over time, as each often have unique roles in a healthcare organization. Breaking down the process barriers and creating a highly unified, collaborative healthcare information technologies platform is critical for any healthcare provider to continually deliver excellent service to patients (Bernstein, McCreless, Côté, 2007). This is the moment comedians live for, because knowing that the crowd laughed meant they are right where the comedians need them, vulnerable. In those few seconds the crowd is impressionable, laughing while questioning everything they ever thought. This here is the change comedians have been looking for. In a TEDtalk with Chris Bliss called Chris Bliss: Comedy Is Translation, he stated, Every act of communication is an act of translation. In short, the language of comedy is a simple truth. Comedy educates in its own language. Only those brave enough and self assured can conquer such a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. How Does Aphra Behn Show Loyalty In Oroonoko One of the key themes present throughout Aphra Behn s Oroonoko is betrayal based solely on the concept of trust. Throughout history, fine literature has provided us with novels that reveal betrayal as the base and themes of the story. For example, Oroonoko s deepest values of trust and loyalty are turned against him. His trust in friendship and honorable truth to his word, expose him to the treachery of Europeans/Africans who calculate human worth on a measure of profit and fear. A man without his word is nothing. Trust is the basis of all human collaboration: without it, our world wouldn t exist, as we know it. Somehow, woman is equal to man because to become a highest goddess, there should not have a gender problem. On the other hand, Pagels focuses more on the gender of God. Pagels rises the question of is God masculine, and in the article, she uses different gospels to conclude that the God in Christians eyes is gathering the finest things of man and woman; which in the article, she mentions the bisexual power . • 38. The Factors Of Food Waste In Public Schools Growing research shows steady increase in food waste throughout the globe. One largely contributing factor is food waste produced from the public schools. The amount of food wasted in schools, according to the USDA, has ranged between 10 37% of calories served (Buzby, J., Guthrie, J., 2002). It is difficult to compare public school waste to global amounts due to the scarcity of specific data this would depend on region, economic status and additional factors associated with how and why food is wasted in schools. Having said that, this is a large enough problem that it is actively noticed and prompting intervention. With these numbers rising, food waste negatively impacts costs for the community, carbon emissions, water use and more. However, students in the public schools are not completely to blame, as some factors affect food waste after the implementation of some lunch programs, which are targeted to increase encourage students to reach their recommended adequate intake of nutrients, such as the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 (Hakim, S., Meissen, G., 2017). Likewise, food serving methods have also played a role in the amount of food wasted by students, by using the offer model and serve model approaches in cafeterias.
