Differentiated Instruction
Differentiated instruction helps to alleviate the complication of instructing multiple learning
modalities and plan for all students in one simple lesson plan. How does it work? What are the
recommended instructional strategies? In the article, 'Creating Lesson Plans for all Learners' the
authors give an example of how to plan using differentiated instruction. Their lesson plan format
includes: 1) State the objective of the lesson; 2) State the learner focus of the lesson; 3) Include
activities that will enable the students to get engaged and interact; 4) State a closure summary i.e.
overview of the lesson; 5) State any lesson extensions such as any follow–up activities; 6) Include
independent practice activities; 7) Include an evaluation format; 8) Reteach lesson in future lessons
(reiteration and confirmation that lesson was understood by students). In another article, 'Teacher
Learning through Self–Regulation', the focus is on the teacher being able to regulate themselves
(Katie Tricarico, Diane Yendol–Hoppey, 2012). Self–regulation is a big part of integration and
programming for differentiated instruction and can be defined as "concerning itself with a teacher's
conscious goal–setting and proactive stance towards making a change in the classroom" (Katie
Tricarico, Diane Yendol–Hoppey, 2012). It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Response to Intervention is described as a tiered, integrated system of assessment and instruction
with Tier 1 being its main component and considered the preventative stage of tiered instruction
(Ruth E. Jones, 2012). Tier 1 is the core programming stage before any identification has been
implemented for a child and it is viewed as the preventative stage where possible and it is evidence–

Response To Intervention Essay
RTI, is an acronym that has become commonly used in education after No Child Left Behind was
implemented, but what does that acronym mean? Brown–Chidsey and Steege quoted Dave Tilly, a
school psychologist, as saying that RTI actually means "really terrific instruction!" RTI is defined
differently in different states. Some would argue it is Response to Intervention, while others say that
it means Response to Instruction. Brown–Chidsey and Steege state that whether you say
intervention or instruction, it does not matter; the importance is that teachers use scientific based
teaching that responds to students' learning.
There are several benefits of RTI. First, according to the Nebraska RTI website, research states that

According to the National Center on RTI website, the first step a district needs to take to begin RTI
is to access the needs of the district and gather information on RTI. If RTI meets the needs of the
district, then an action plan should be developed. The district should form a leadership team that
consists of an administrator, general education teacher, special education teacher, and school
psychologist. Next, a universal screener should be adopted. This screener, for example, DIBELS,
should be administered three times a year. Also, professional development should be planned to
assist with the understanding of how RTI works and how the data will drive instruction.
According to the ESU10 RTI website, RTI is an educational service delivery system designed to
provide effective instruction for all students using a comprehensive and preventive problem solving
approach. RTI is a three tiered method of instructional delivery to meet the needs of most students.
The three tiers consist of the core, targeted, and intensive. The tiers represent instructional supports.
Tier one is the utilization of a researched based core instruction program. The district should
implement a universal screener to check for students learning. The goal is for districts to achieve at
least eighty percent of students meeting benchmark. If the student does not meet benchmark, then
the data is analyzed by

Strategic Challenges For Local Communities
Strategic Challenges for Local Communities The Department of Homeland Security released the
2014 Quadrennial Homeland Security Review on June 18, 2014 as required by the Homeland
Security Act of 2002 and its amendments. This review outlined the current state of preparedness, as
well as the future areas of concentration. It also determined six strategic challenges facing the
nation: terrorist threat; growing cyber threats; biological concerns as a whole; nuclear terrorism;
transnational criminal organizations; and natural hazards. The basic building block of emergency
management in the U.S. is the local community. Each step begins here. Threat assessments are
completed on the local level. Planning, mitigation, and response are all responsibilities of the local
community to support the state and Federal practice using the guidance provided by both.
One of the best guidance documents for these communities is the Comprehensive Preparedness
Guide 201 (CPG201). In this guide, communities will complete the Threat and Hazard Identification
and Risk Assessment. The THIRA has a detailed four–step process in developing a robust Risk
Assessment to allow the community to develop its plans. The first step is to "identify the threats and
hazards of concern" to the community. Some of the challenges described by the Department of
Homeland Security may not be applicable to the community or may pose extremely limited threat.
The second step in to "give the threats context" which states how

In order to assess this impact, it was necessary to add email and voice services to the Profile
Configuration and the server named FTP located in the Washington DC subnet. The graphs below
illustrate the impact of background load on point to point throughput––> and point to point
utilization for the back_load and no_back_load scenarios. The data in these charts is reflective of
using the predefined Email(heavy) application profile metric. Figure 3 – Email Point to Point
Throughput (bits/sec) Figure 4 – Email Pont to Point Utilization
It's clear that background load has a significant impact on link throughput and utilization. The
simulation without background loading remains steady and relatively flat with throughput at roughly
2Kbps and link utilization at under 5%. When background load is added, we see a marked upward
trend in utilization and throughput early in the simulation that keeps with our scheme of
incrementally ramping up background load from 19,200 to 32,000 during the first 8 minutes,
followed by a less pronounced continued upward trend over the remainder of the simulation. Link
throughput begins to stabilize at just over 30kbps late in the simulation, while link utilization
approaches 50%. Interestingly, we see a sharp drop in email download response time during the first
seconds of both scenarios even as background load is ramping up at the same time. However, both
scenarios flatten out to a more consistent level as the simulation

Effective Assessment For Exceptional Ebd Students
Effective assessment for exceptional EBD students
A best practice for assessment is a process of addressing the emotional and behavioral concerns of a
student. In short, the student would be referred to a Response to Intervention Team (RTI) to
determine what school based supports and or interventions could be put into place to help the
student. If the interventions are not successful, then the student can be referred for EC evaluations to
determine if they are in need of special education services. The referral for the special education
process should occur within 90 days. If a student is determined to be eligible for special education
services, then an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is developed. An IEP is individualized;

Response to intervention
Response to Intervention (RTI) according to Kauffman and Landrum (2013) is a multi–tiered
approach for the early identification and support of students with learning and behavior needs. The
RTI process begins with high–quality instruction and collective screening of all students in the
general education classroom. Struggling learners are provided with interventions at growing levels
of concentration to speed up their rate of learning. These services may be provided by a variety of
personnel: (e.g.: including general education teachers, special educators, and specialists). The
progress is carefully monitored to evaluate both the learning ratio and level of performance of each
individual student. Educational decisions around the concentration and time of interventions are
based on the individual students' response to instruction. RTI was designed for use when making
decisions in both general education and special education classrooms, creating a well–integrated
scheme of instruction and intervention guided by student outcome data.
For RTI implementation to work well, the following vital components must be executed with
fidelity and in a rigorous manner:
 High–quality, systematically based classroom instruction: (e.g.: all students receive high–quality,
research–based instruction in the general education classroom).
 Ongoing student assessment: (e.g. :)

Applying A Change Model: A Case Study
Applying a change model when a change is being proposed can help ease staff, worries and
uncertainties. Changing someone familiariary can be very frustration to all staff involved. Since
MCI is not easily determined by using the MMSE this writer is recommending the team evaluate the
MoCA and change to this current assessment tool. Before recommending changes in health care one
must consider using a change model to applying your evidence–based intervention. This paper will
utilize the Iowa Model of EBP as the change model for implementing the change in cognitive
assessment tools. Melany and Fineout–Overholt, (2011) stated the "Iowa model provides guidance
for nurses and other clinicians in making decisions about day–to–day practices that affect ... Show

It is vital when conducting EBP research that the researcher use credible sources to search for
articles. By identifying the need for change the researcher can ensure there is a problem that needs
father research. For this project the researcher searched CINHAL, Psych INFO, MEDLINE, and The
Science Direct. The search reveled over 300 articles relevant to this problem.
Step Five
Step five of the Iowa Model is when the researcher begins to review the articles and identifying the
ones that are valid and relevant to the project.
Step Six
Step six is the last step in the Iowa Model. The team will begin the plans for the pilot study. Before
changing a policy or implementing a new change one must find an environment to test the problem
at hand. A pilot study will be conducted at the PACE center on patients with MCI the results of the
MMSE and Mocha will be compared. After the results are obtained the team will meet to discuss the
implications of changing their current cognitive tool. If the team changes decides to change their
cognitive assessment tool then communication will be had with all staff involved in administering
the test. Training sessions will be scheduled so everyone knows how to properly administer this

Differential Equations Of A Nonlinear System
5.1 Linearization
It can be seen clearly by the system's equation that the model belongs to a nonlinear system. Normal
differential equations can be created by the conversion of the system into state space model format.
When a control law is designed, Lagrange equations of motion (9) are reformatted. To be able to
carry this out, a state vector is introduced which is as follows. x= (θ θ ̇ )^T
To be able to apply the LQR technique on the system, linearization is important. Therefore the
nonlinear model of the system turns into: θ ̈= –D^(–1) Cθ ̇–D^(–1) G+D^(–1) Hu (14)
After putting the variables of the system matrices in the above generalisation and their derivatives,
the system equation is as follows: x ̇=(■(0&I@0&–D^(–1) C))x+(■(0@〖–D〗^(–1) C))+
(■(0@D^(–1) H))u (15)
Where I and 0 are identity and zero matrices respectively.
The system equation can be rewritten as: x ̇=f(x)+g(x)u (16)
Where
f(x)=(■(0&I@0&–D^(–1) C))x+(■(0@〖–D〗^(–1) C)) (17) g(x)=(■(0@D^(–1) H)) (18)

The Design Tool That I Will Use For My Research
The design tool that I will use for my research case of study is the survey. Survey represents one of
the most frequent types of quantitative in social science research. By utilizing the method of survey
research, as a researcher I can cull a sample of respondents from a population and administers a
uniform questionnaire to them; in this case the children ages 10– 13 yrs old and their parents from
an aftercare program. The questionnaire, or survey, will be an indicated document that will be
consummated by the person that will be surveyed, throughout a questionnaire, a face–to–face
interview, or a telephone interview. By utilizing a survey, will accumulate data from diminutive
populations that every so often referred to as the macrocosm of a study. According to Bradburn and
Sudman (1988) the benefits of using this tool over other tools are: Surveys are quite less expensive.
Surveys are utilizable in unfolding the characteristics of an astronomically immense population. No
other method of observation can provide this general competence. They can be administered from
remote locations utilizing mail, email or telephone. Consequently, prodigiously and sizably
voluminous samples are feasible, making the results statistically consequential even when analyzing
multiple variables. Many questions can be given as a topic giving considerable litheness to the
analysis. There is flexibility at the engenderment phase in deciding how the questions will be
administered: as

Professional Development Survey Paper
Introduction Professional development is defined as an ongoing trainings, activities workshops,
coaching or learnings that help an employee gain skills related to his or her job responsibilities. In
education, on–going professional development is a vital step to ensure that teachers are equipped
with best practices to prepare students for the future. According to Billingsley (2005), "Professional
development goals needs to emerge from the needs of needs of teachers" (p. 96). As such, the use of
surveys and interests polls is encouraged to determine the needs of teachers. After identifying staff
needs, it is crucial for a leader to plan and execute trainings aligned with Adult Learning Theory to
increase engagement, generalization and skill application. The purpose for this paper is to evaluate
the 2014–2015 professional development survey conducted by the Montgomery County
Intermediate Unit (MCIU). Furthermore, suggestions for improving the yearly practice will be made
to increase participant responses and the quality data collected. Finally, a professional development

of the major deficiency with the survey was the low response rate. While over 200 participants were
targeted, only 22 actually completed the survey (G. Katch, personal communication, February 2,
2016). In addition to the low return rate, many participants skipped questions or only completed the
first ten questions. In total, only 16 participants completed the survey in its integrity. Due to the low
response rate, these results are not valid as the opinions of such a small sample may not reflective of

Summary Of The Response To Intervention
Chapter 3 The Response to Intervention, Referral, and Placement Process Reflection and Summary
By: S. Elizabeth Jackson Examining the Response to Intervention (RTI) Process Response to
Intervention (RTI) is an in school service program designed to guarantee that all students are getting
a high quality education. Before students are referred for special education services, it is essential
that they receive effective teaching designed to meet their own learning requirements. All students in
public schools are required to be included in the RTI program. While the different program may
vary from state to state, the basis of the models are the same. The RTI process has three tiers. In tier
one is labeled curriculum–based classroom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teachers, during tier one, should closely follow the GREAT guidelines. Teachers are also expected
to differentiate instruction for those who are struggling. Tier two teachers expected to collect
extensive data on the at risk student. Teachers are to collect data not only on information the student
got wrong, but also when they were correct. This aids in a more correct placement, if needed. The
final tier of the RTI process, tier three, is where all the data collection comes into play. In order for a
student to be admitted into tier three, there has to be adequate evidence to support this claim. The
teacher needs to continue to collect data to provide information on whether or not the student has
made progress with the interventions in place. The teacher may asked to organize the data collected
during the previous interventions. The text suggest that the teacher may be asked to collect this data
in the form of a visual aid, such as a bar graph. Process of Determining if a Student has a Disability
and the Responsibilities of the Teacher When all the tiers of RTI have been utilized, the Students
Support Team (SST) decides if the next appropriate step for the student is a referral to special
education. Biased on the information gathered during the RTI process, the SST will appraise and see
if the student meets the criteria for one of the IDEA categories of disability. The disability or
impairment must have an unwanted

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electronic Survey
In this part I will go through the questionnaire layout and construction. Then I will define the
electronic survey and its advantages and disadvantages.
In fact, there is no strong theoretical base for questionnaire design. All researchers have their own
way born out from their experience and other previous researchers' experience. Moreover,
"Questionnaire design is more of an art than science" (Oberski, 2015, p. 1).
The questionnaire is defined as "a document containing serious of questions and other types of items
designed to solicit information appropriate to analysis" (Babbie, 1990, p. 377). In our daily work we
used the questionnaire as a tool for collecting information to justify and explain cases, knowledge,
and behaviors on target group. Questionnaire design is very crucial and important part of the
research because inappropriate questionnaire will misleads the research result. Indeed, we used
questionnaire in our daily life to satisfy our queries in in another format. For example, we ask
questions in different events like when we want to pay something. The use of questionnaire in
research is somehow similar to that in our daily life. It constructed to collect information or answers
related to the research issue for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

for developing the questionnaire and telephone interviews. Also, no cost of additional workers to

shorter than that of traditional research methods as the information gathered automatically (smith et
al. 1986). Also. It is quicky and easy to analyse like google Drive. You can develop your survey and
the data will analyzed automatocly. Electronic survey easy to use for researchers, participants and

Naomi Carter: A Short Story
She sat on her unmade bed, swishing her legs back and forth as she waited for Naomi to finish her
makeup. Naomi had her face positioned directly in front of the mirror, her hand remaining steady
and fluid as she swept her black eyeliner across her eyelid. They had class in ten minutes, but Naomi
apparently ignored that fact. Carter knew her roommate spent a solid hour in front of the small
mirror already; the girl curled her blonde hair in rippling waves and took her time on applying her
contour and highlight despite it being so early in the morning and their destination being a small
poetry class. Naomi was pretty though. That was her thing. Her trademark. Her smile was blinding,
her hair was bouncy and soft, and her body possessed the grace that you only got from the
combination of years of dedicated dancing and natural talent. She didn't just apply a pink lip and
some shimmery highlight to her cheekbones though. She was naturally a force of beauty. Naomi
chose to focus on that aspect of herself and Carter assumed that enhancing that essence about her

She didn't regret that decision. Sleep was good. Every extra minute added another dollop of sanity

into a loose ponytail that hung out the back of her blue baseball hat that had the word mermaid
embroidered across the front. The hat was silly, offly resembling something a modern day Little
Mermaid would wear if she decided she was edgy and had second day hair. It was a gift from her
little sister from a few Christmases ago, and even without the sentimental attachment, Carter liked

The Role Of Response To Intervention In Special Education
The Roots of Response to Intervention
In 2002, the President's Commision on Excellence in Special Education report stated that many
students are "placed in special education are instructional casualties and not students with
disabilities. They noted that almost half of all children in special education were identified as having
a learning disability, and this group has grown since 1976. 80% of those students with learning
disabilities are there " simply because they haven't learned how to read." Thus, many children
receiving special education because they weren't taught to read, and few close the achievement gap

Their framework includes a schoolwide or districtwide comprehensive system of social–emotional
learning and behavioral supports, where educators model respectful behaviors, support engagement

behavioral expectations across grades (Connecticut State Department of Education Bureau of

Connecticut refers to the response to instruction framework as Scientific Research–Based

Making A Criteria For Accepting Books
in charge to develop a criteria for accepting books. Once this committee evaluates which books
could be a good option to be used, the committee sends a list of the books that the teachers might
use. Then it becomes of matter of each teacher's preference; however, Mrs. Espinoza addressed that
changes have been made since the implementation of the Common Core Standards. What is
occurring nowadays, she said, "each teacher take the Common Core and apply it to current lesson
plans using the Basal or whatever they use, and for a whole year, just to see, what they are already
doing and how it falls under the Common Core". Mrs. Valencia pointed that material selection is
very different in the 5th and 6th grades. She explained that since it is novel based program, these
grades do not follow any basal reader or reading series type of textbooks. The students are the ones
who select the books they plan to read during the school year. To select these book, the students
complete an interest inventory at the beginning of the school year; then, Mrs. Valencia and the
Literature teacher, Mrs. Jacob plan together the activities that they will deliver; however, the
students are guided through the process of their book selection and they complete this inventory
with the teacher guidance; the materials are based on 5th and 6th grades reading skill levels, the
possibility of using their content in the Language Arts classroom, and if they are a good example of
the genre that the material pertain

The Causes And Effects Of Violent Video Games
Violent video games have always been a hot topic since the release of the first Mortal Kombat in
October 1992 for home consoles, which, because of its violence, resulted in the creation of the
Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). There have been studies that show a correlation
between violent video games and aggression resulting in both an increase and decrease in aggression
among players, but all if not most studies have only been short–term experiments. The real question
is whether violent video games cause an increase in short–term aggression to the point where the
players start to commit violent actions because of it, but, if the aggression does increase, how to
prevent the short–term aggression from increasing to the point where it becomes a problem without
taking the games away.
Almost every gamer who has played a multiplayer game with audio chat has either played with or
against a person (usually a child) who, whenever they start to lose, they fly into an aggressive frenzy
or tantrum, starting to do everything from cussing out other players, accusing them of being
cheaters, and etc.. One should worry about people like this, who if possible might seek out the
"cheaters" for vengeance, when it comes to possible related crimes, but realistically speaking there

Response To Intervention Research
The article CAN STUDENTS RUN THEIR OWN INTERVENTIONS?: A SELF–
ADMINISTERED MATH FLUENCY INTERVENTION written by David M. Hulac, Kayla
Dejong, and Nicholas Benson caries the discussion further on the implementation of response to
intervention, especially in the area of mathematics. The article begins with expansion of response to

mathematics. A comparison is drawn between research found within the area of mathematics thus

The Problem Solving Process Will Begin
When confronted with a problem, the question we should first begin asking ourselves is "What
should I do?" We will first need to examine the problem and determine the steps needed to take in
order to ensure the problem is solved satisfactorily. This is where the problem solving process will
begin. For this assignment, I will be focusing on Scenario 1: "You have worked at your company for
eleven (11) years. You have returned to college to earn a Bachelor's degree in order to increase your
chances for a promotion. You are nearly finished with your degree, when a supervisor's position in a
competing company becomes available in another state. The start date is in two (2) weeks, during
your final exam period for your courses. The position offers a $15,000 per year salary increase, a car
allowance, and relocation expenses. Your former supervisor works for the company and is
recommending you for the position based on your outstanding job performance; if you want the job,
it's yours. All of the other supervisors at this level in the company have Master's degrees, so you
know that you would be expected to earn your Bachelor's degree and continue on to a Master's
degree. Your present company offers tuition reimbursement, but the new company does not." (cite)
For this particular scenario, I have been tasked with making a decision on whether or not I should
change my job, an opportunity that will increase my salary; or stay in a position that will allow me
to further my educational

Evaluation Of A Student For Special Education Essay
In order for a student to be eligible for special education services, the regular education teacher
discovers that there is a problem. From there, a screening must take place. The screening can consist
of hearing, vision, communication, and any other type that may be needed. Permission is not needed
in order to do a screening.
Next, Response to Intervention begins, also known as RTI. This provides levels or tiers of
increasingly intensive instruction to help students master academic content. Tier 1 takes place in a
regular classroom setting. Tier 2 involves and allows the student to go out to a specialty teacher. Tier
3 mainly takes place in a special education classroom. Tier 3 requires more one–on–one instruction
for the student from the teacher. RTI serves two purposes– support struggling learners and identify
students with learning disabilities. Parents are invited to take part in their child's RTI process. Other
school professionals also take part during the RTI process to meet the child needs. Research Based
Interventions are used during the RTI process. Data is gathered during the RTI process on a regular
basis. After a few weeks, the team meets again to determine how beneficial the interventions are for
the child. If RTI is working, it is continued, if RTI is not working, a meeting takes place where the
RTI data is presented. Then the referral process initiates.
The referral process commences with an Admissions and Release Committee known as ARC. Here,

Response to Intervention in the Class Room Essay
Response to Intervention Response to Intervention (RtI) is a framework based off the problem
solving method that integrates assessment, and targeted instruction, within a multi–tiered
intervention system. Implementation of RtI in schools is crucial to identify which students need
additional intervention that will help increase their literacy skills, and prevent them from falling
behind. RtI is based off multi–leveled tiers that are each categorized by the intensity of the
intervention that is being used. The RtI framework is also used as a valued tool in monitoring and
improving student behavior in the classroom through a model known as Positive Behavioral
Intervention Support (PBIS). RtI was designed to provide early intervention to ... Show more

If the appropriate progress is not made by a student in Tier III in a timely matter, the next step would
be to test the student for any learning disabilities that are hindering their literacy skills. RtI works at
its best when personal from across the school, including administrators, general education teachers,
special education teachers, supplemental specialists, music and gym teachers, and counselors all
collaborate to support the framework, because each staff member shares equal responsibility for the
success and failure of all students (Shapiro 2011). RtI needs the full support of all staff members,
because it does not show immediate results and could take between 3–5 years to see its positive
impact. RtI gives schools the chance to correct literacy issues, and fix the problem early, before
students' progress forward where they pay for it long into their future. RtI also helps implement
behavioral interventions in the classroom through a similar process called Positive Behavioral
Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS is based on a problem–solving model and aims to prevent
inappropriate behavior through teaching and reinforcing appropriate behaviors (Sandomierski,
Kincaid & Algozzine, 2007). Both RtI and PBIS are grounded in differentiated instruction; a type of
instruction that is beneficial to all types of students with

Irish Dance Paper
Irish Dance: A Marvelous Dance
Irish step dancing has existed since the 1700's, over 300 years. Families in Ireland have passed
down Irish step dance from generation to generation as a way of preserving their culture. While the
meaning of the dance remains the same, the performance and showmanship has changed
dramatically. From girls and boys with pale skin and natural hair to girls with fake tanned skin, huge
curly wigs, and thousand dollar dresses and boys with fake tanned skin and outlandish outfits. Irish
dance has become more of a spectacle–such as "Riverdance" and "Lord of the Dance." Those dances
are some of the most enjoyable and respected around the world. Over time this type of dance has
taken on a life of its own and changed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking methods of the dance or stick with the traditional movements and showing them in a way
that would be more interesting to the public. Which is what was done with Riverdance and Lord of
the Dance, which take the form of the dance and use it for a dramatic necessity.
There are various parts of Irish dance that have lasted throughout the years to remain an influence
on the form known today. These basics have laid the foundation on which the dance has grown.
Performed mainly during festivals, which date from the period of Eric the Red and the Viking raids
of Ireland. While the Vikings did destroyed most books and written records, it was acknowledged
that music and dance were important to the Gaelic culture. These festivals were a mixture of trade
fair, political gathering, music, dance, sports, story telling and crafts. Today, the sole purposes of
feiseanna are competitive dance competitions. There is still music, crafts, and trades, not as much.
Officially there is no political aspect to the festivals anymore, many who participate would tell you
otherwise.
The reason that the traditional dance has remained apart of the world is because of the teachers and
students. But in order to dance the students required movements, steps, and music to put them to.
The dance masters–teachers of the 18th and 19th centuries–all had the same original dance steps,
while they invented their own steps on top the original ones. There are two different roots, which

Supporting Influences in the Process of Special Education
How does the role of the Response to Intervention process (RTI), and the Positive Behavior
Interventions and Support (PBIS) structure influence the pre–referral process for special education?
In today's time it is of common practice to use the RTI method for academic issues. Likewise, the
PBIS framework is used for issues dealing with unfavorable characteristics in student behavior.
Each method is widely known and looked on as a favorable approach. Both RTI and PBIS are very
important in addressing students during the pre–referral process, and each plays a very significant
role. In the following essay the aforementioned question of their role and influence will be explored
and answered. In addressing the role of the Response to Intervention process (RTI), one must first
become familiar with the premise of this process. RTI is a method that is used to address school
aged children that are showing evidence of academic struggle. At the beginning of the pre–referral
process, educators identify struggling pupils. Following this identification, these same teachers
begin to explore several avenues of remediation through highly recommended research based
approaches. An approach is selected, implemented, and the child's progress is documented fully. If
solid evidence of success is discovered, through the implementation of a given program, then the
process is concluded because success has been met. However, if there is solid evidence that proves
that the program is unsuccessful then

Using The Root Cause Analysis And `` 5 Whys ``
I must admit, I am uncomfortable putting work conflicts on the internet, and even more
uncomfortable exposing personal relationship conflicts that should inherently be private. I also do
not watch the news, because I do not trust it as a source of information. Thus, for the purposes of
this essay, I shall describe the most recent inner conflict of note that I have experienced instead, and
analyse it using the "Root Cause Analysis" and "5 Whys" strategies that were discussed in this
week's reading.
While it is not a particularly recent source of conflict – it happened about three or four years ago – it
resulted in some life–changing events. I shall briefly describe the timeline: in January 2012, I move
to New Zealand to study for a diploma in 3D Animation and VFX. By November 2012, I had
decided that I no longer wanted to be studying towards a qualification in the VFX industry, and
decided to enrol at one of the universities in Auckland for a degree in Hospitality instead. By March
2013, I had turned right around, and enrolled in a different school for a degree in none other than 3D
Animation and VFX.
Using the "Root Cause Analysis" and "5 Whys" strategies, I shall explore the reasons for these
changes I made – what made me deflect from my original course, and then later why I came back to
it. Many of these observations are made in hindsight, so may sound more logical and rational than I
truly was at the time.
First, I shall consider why I left my first course of study:

Being Present 1. When I arrived to class I expected myself and my students to be fully present. If
they were experiencing joy, sadness, a burden, I would have them share with the class before
continuing on. This allowed my students to be focused on the now and not on what happened or will
happen. An exercise that helped them accomplish this was to write something down that may be
hindering them from being present and deposit it, without their name, into a classroom box.

Going broke is a very tedious and cumbersome activity, which requires constant vigilance and

form of guidance. This serves as the quintessential handbook of how to get broke; it shall be called
The House of Cards Insolvency Process Guide. To begin, it is critical to limit the term broke as

Our Iceberg Is Melting, By John Kotter
"Once upon a time a colony of penguins was living in the frozen Antarctic on an iceberg near what
we call today Cape Washington." From the first sentence of John Kotter's bestselling book, Our
Iceberg Is Melting, it is difficult to tell that one is about to read a great fable about how to manage
change in business as well as everyday life. ! The following summary will explain the key moments
of the fable and how they relate to our lives. First, let's introduce some of the more important
penguins – the Leadership Council members. Louis, the head of the Leadership Council, could
perhaps be considered the CEO of the penguin colony. Alice is a smart, aggressive member of the
council, and is Fred's loyal confidant. Buddy is a young penguin council member who may not be
the brightest bulb in the box, but brings an element of trust among the council members. Fred is the
most curious of all of the penguins; although he was an 'unknown' penguin in the beginning, he
ultimately plays a very important role in the change process. Jordan, also known as the "Professor,"
was the brains of the council; he could perhaps be considered the 'researcher' of the group. Although
the penguins start out simply as individuals, in the end, they are a well working team capable of
effectively managing change. Fred, a quite curious penguin, studies the wonderful iceberg that the
penguins consider home. He comes across a problem which suggests that their beloved iceberg may

Response Of Intervention ( Rti ) Process
Response to Intervention Process Joey Veltri Reinhardt Univsersity Introduction The response to
intervention (RTI) process allows educators to respond to students' academic and behavioral needs
in the classroom. Educators can respond to student challenges by using instructional interventions to
provide extra support to struggling students. An intervention is a type of instruction targeted to meet
the learning and/or behavioral needs of a student. Interventions are in addition to the general
classroom instruction. The interventions may vary in intensity. They can increase or decrease in
intensity as determined by students' needs. Students are progress monitored by using checkpoints to

Every student engages in high quality instruction in the classroom at the Tier 1 level. In Tier 1,
students get a daily opportunity to learn grade level curriculum and get basic differentiation to
support their needs. The grade level standards are taught using research based, best practices.
Teachers may work with small groups and provide hands – on activities to make learning
meaningful and relevant to students. All students receive periodic assessments that allow the teacher
to identify if they require more intense support. Often times, schools will implement a schoolwide
screening tool to benchmark students and determine if they need supplemental instruction to meet
grade level expectations. Data collection from these assessments helps to guide teacher instruction
and will also help to determine if a student needs more support in one or more academic areas. RTI
Pyramid Tier 2 If a student is needing extra support in grasping grade level curriculum, they are
moved into Tier 2. Tier 2 is the second level in the RTI pyramid and allows for more support to a
struggling student. The student will still receive differentiated instruction just as they were given in
the Tier 1 level. In Tier 2, a support team including the classroom teacher, an early intervention
teacher, and parents work together to create a learning plan that works best for the student. Parents

function, their numbers and intersection value determines accuracy of the tool and its range of
operation. If the membership function covers poles values from 0 to 4 then the maximum value for
pole is 4 and the least value is 0 and same thing happens for the constants. Each unit reduces an
order of two to order of one. If a transfer function of higher order is needed to be reduced the
operation is repeated several times. For example an order 8 to 2 function reduction will reduce the 8
poles into 4 poles then the 4 new poles into the final 2 poles. E. Particle Swarm Technique
Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is initialized with a group of random particles (solutions) and
then searches for optima by updating generations. In every iteration, each particle is updated by
following two "best" values. The first one is the best solution (fitness) each particle has achieved so
far, this value is called Pbest. Another "best" value that is tracked by the particle swarm optimizer is
the best value, obtained so far by any particle in the population. This best value is a global best and
called Gbest. Each particle consists of: Data representing a possible solution, a velocity value
indicating how much the Data can be changed, a personal best (Pbest) value indicating the closest
the particle 's Data has ever come to the Target.
The particles ' data could be anything. In the flocking birds' example above, the data would be the X,
Y, Z coordinates of each bird. The individual

What Is Self Care? Essay
What is Self–Care?
Self–care is one of those words that therapists use, forgetting that the rest of the population has
never heard of it. Basically, it is a noun referring to taking care of your own emotional well–being.
Self–Care works on two levels. First, the obvious– it allows you to take care of yourself, to nurture
yourself. Second, it subconsciously sends you the message that you deserve to be taken care of,
which can help increase your self–esteem, self–worth, and happiness.
Self–care doesn 't need to take up a lot of time. Even the busiest person could build in five minutes a
day to do some deep–breathing or to call a friend. Explore how self–care can fit into your schedule.
Show yourself that YOU are just as important as the other responsibilities in your life.
Self–care can mean adding one thing into each day that you can look forward to. It could be
watching your favorite TV show, taking an extra long shower, or spending five minutes in silence–
whatever works for you.
Just because you 're feeling happy, doesn 't mean that self–care isn 't necessary. It is still important to
pay attention to your needs and feelings, and to nurture yourself.
Thoughts and Behaviors...
Self–care isn 't just about activities, it can include any thoughts or behaviors. For instance, it
includes stopping yourself from using negative self–talk. It also includes setting and enforcing

processor (DSP) based real–time controller. Its primary functions are supporting the downloading of
various control algorithm parameters (gains), specifying command trajectories, selecting data to be
obtained, and specifying how data should be plotted. ECP Model 205 torsion apparatus represents a
broad and important class of practical plants including: rigid bodies, flexibility in drives, and
coupled discrete vibrating systems. It easily transforms into second, fourth, and sixth (optional)
order plants with collocated or no collocated sensor / actuator control. This laboratory dealt with a
single simple degree of freedom. Parameters of a single Degree of Freedom The control degrees of

Differentiated Instruction

  • 1. Differentiated Instruction Differentiated instruction helps to alleviate the complication of instructing multiple learning modalities and plan for all students in one simple lesson plan. How does it work? What are the recommended instructional strategies? In the article, 'Creating Lesson Plans for all Learners' the authors give an example of how to plan using differentiated instruction. Their lesson plan format includes: 1) State the objective of the lesson; 2) State the learner focus of the lesson; 3) Include activities that will enable the students to get engaged and interact; 4) State a closure summary i.e. overview of the lesson; 5) State any lesson extensions such as any follow–up activities; 6) Include independent practice activities; 7) Include an evaluation format; 8) Reteach lesson in future lessons (reiteration and confirmation that lesson was understood by students). In another article, 'Teacher Learning through Self–Regulation', the focus is on the teacher being able to regulate themselves (Katie Tricarico, Diane Yendol–Hoppey, 2012). Self–regulation is a big part of integration and programming for differentiated instruction and can be defined as "concerning itself with a teacher's conscious goal–setting and proactive stance towards making a change in the classroom" (Katie Tricarico, Diane Yendol–Hoppey, 2012). It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Response to Intervention is described as a tiered, integrated system of assessment and instruction with Tier 1 being its main component and considered the preventative stage of tiered instruction (Ruth E. • 3. Response To Intervention Essay RTI, is an acronym that has become commonly used in education after No Child Left Behind was implemented, but what does that acronym mean? Brown–Chidsey and Steege quoted Dave Tilly, a school psychologist, as saying that RTI actually means "really terrific instruction!" RTI is defined differently in different states. Some would argue it is Response to Intervention, while others say that it means Response to Instruction. Brown–Chidsey and Steege state that whether you say intervention or instruction, it does not matter; the importance is that teachers use scientific based teaching that responds to students' learning. There are several benefits of RTI. First, according to the Nebraska RTI website, research states that struggling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the National Center on RTI website, the first step a district needs to take to begin RTI is to access the needs of the district and gather information on RTI. If RTI meets the needs of the district, then an action plan should be developed. The district should form a leadership team that consists of an administrator, general education teacher, special education teacher, and school psychologist. Next, a universal screener should be adopted. This screener, for example, DIBELS, should be administered three times a year. Also, professional development should be planned to assist with the understanding of how RTI works and how the data will drive instruction. According to the ESU10 RTI website, RTI is an educational service delivery system designed to provide effective instruction for all students using a comprehensive and preventive problem solving approach. RTI is a three tiered method of instructional delivery to meet the needs of most students. The three tiers consist of the core, targeted, and intensive. The tiers represent instructional supports. Tier one is the utilization of a researched based core instruction program. The district should implement a universal screener to check for students learning. The goal is for districts to achieve at least eighty percent of students meeting benchmark. If the student does not meet benchmark, then the data is analyzed by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Strategic Challenges For Local Communities Strategic Challenges for Local Communities The Department of Homeland Security released the 2014 Quadrennial Homeland Security Review on June 18, 2014 as required by the Homeland Security Act of 2002 and its amendments. This review outlined the current state of preparedness, as well as the future areas of concentration. It also determined six strategic challenges facing the nation: terrorist threat; growing cyber threats; biological concerns as a whole; nuclear terrorism; transnational criminal organizations; and natural hazards. The basic building block of emergency management in the U.S. is the local community. Each step begins here. Threat assessments are completed on the local level. Planning, mitigation, and response are all responsibilities of the local community to support the state and Federal practice using the guidance provided by both. One of the best guidance documents for these communities is the Comprehensive Preparedness Guide 201 (CPG201). In this guide, communities will complete the Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment. The THIRA has a detailed four–step process in developing a robust Risk Assessment to allow the community to develop its plans. The first step is to "identify the threats and hazards of concern" to the community. Some of the challenges described by the Department of Homeland Security may not be applicable to the community or may pose extremely limited threat. The second step in to "give the threats context" which states how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The final step in setting up your scenario appears below. 1. (30 points) Once your project is created (after Step 6 above), your workspace will contain a map of the United States. Your project and scenario name can be seen in ITGuru's top window border in the form of Project: Scenario: . Capture a screenshot of your new project workspace that clearly shows your project and scenario name, and paste it below. 2. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to assess this impact, it was necessary to add email and voice services to the Profile Configuration and the server named FTP located in the Washington DC subnet. The graphs below illustrate the impact of background load on point to point throughput––> and point to point utilization for the back_load and no_back_load scenarios. The data in these charts is reflective of using the predefined Email(heavy) application profile metric. Figure 3 – Email Point to Point Throughput (bits/sec) Figure 4 – Email Pont to Point Utilization It's clear that background load has a significant impact on link throughput and utilization. The simulation without background loading remains steady and relatively flat with throughput at roughly 2Kbps and link utilization at under 5%. When background load is added, we see a marked upward trend in utilization and throughput early in the simulation that keeps with our scheme of incrementally ramping up background load from 19,200 to 32,000 during the first 8 minutes, followed by a less pronounced continued upward trend over the remainder of the simulation. Link throughput begins to stabilize at just over 30kbps late in the simulation, while link utilization approaches 50%. Interestingly, we see a sharp drop in email download response time during the first seconds of both scenarios even as background load is ramping up at the same time. However, both scenarios flatten out to a more consistent level as the simulation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Effective Assessment For Exceptional Ebd Students Effective assessment for exceptional EBD students A best practice for assessment is a process of addressing the emotional and behavioral concerns of a student. In short, the student would be referred to a Response to Intervention Team (RTI) to determine what school based supports and or interventions could be put into place to help the student. If the interventions are not successful, then the student can be referred for EC evaluations to determine if they are in need of special education services. The referral for the special education process should occur within 90 days. If a student is determined to be eligible for special education services, then an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is developed. An IEP is individualized; therefore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Response to intervention Response to Intervention (RTI) according to Kauffman and Landrum (2013) is a multi–tiered approach for the early identification and support of students with learning and behavior needs. The RTI process begins with high–quality instruction and collective screening of all students in the general education classroom. Struggling learners are provided with interventions at growing levels of concentration to speed up their rate of learning. These services may be provided by a variety of personnel: (e.g.: including general education teachers, special educators, and specialists). The progress is carefully monitored to evaluate both the learning ratio and level of performance of each individual student. Educational decisions around the concentration and time of interventions are based on the individual students' response to instruction. RTI was designed for use when making decisions in both general education and special education classrooms, creating a well–integrated scheme of instruction and intervention guided by student outcome data. For RTI implementation to work well, the following vital components must be executed with fidelity and in a rigorous manner:  High–quality, systematically based classroom instruction: (e.g.: all students receive high–quality, research–based instruction in the general education classroom).  Ongoing student assessment: (e.g. :) ... • 11. Applying A Change Model: A Case Study Applying a change model when a change is being proposed can help ease staff, worries and uncertainties. Changing someone familiariary can be very frustration to all staff involved. Since MCI is not easily determined by using the MMSE this writer is recommending the team evaluate the MoCA and change to this current assessment tool. Before recommending changes in health care one must consider using a change model to applying your evidence–based intervention. This paper will utilize the Iowa Model of EBP as the change model for implementing the change in cognitive assessment tools. By identifying the need for change the researcher can ensure there is a problem that needs father research. For this project the researcher searched CINHAL, Psych INFO, MEDLINE, and The Science Direct. The search reveled over 300 articles relevant to this problem. Step Five Step five of the Iowa Model is when the researcher begins to review the articles and identifying the ones that are valid and relevant to the project. Step Six Step six is the last step in the Iowa Model. The team will begin the plans for the pilot study. Before changing a policy or implementing a new change one must find an environment to test the problem at hand. A pilot study will be conducted at the PACE center on patients with MCI the results of the MMSE and Mocha will be compared. After the results are obtained the team will meet to discuss the implications of changing their current cognitive tool. If the team changes decides to change their cognitive assessment tool then communication will be had with all staff involved in administering the test. • 13. Differential Equations Of A Nonlinear System 5.1 Linearization It can be seen clearly by the system's equation that the model belongs to a nonlinear system. Normal differential equations can be created by the conversion of the system into state space model format. When a control law is designed, Lagrange equations of motion (9) are reformatted. To be able to carry this out, a state vector is introduced which is as follows. x= (θ θ ̇ )^T To be able to apply the LQR technique on the system, linearization is important. Therefore the nonlinear model of the system turns into: θ ̈= –D^(–1) Cθ ̇–D^(–1) G+D^(–1) Hu (14) After putting the variables of the system matrices in the above generalisation and their derivatives, the system equation is as follows: x ̇=(■(0&I@0&–D^(–1) C))x+(■(0@〖–D〗^(–1) C))+ (■(0@D^(–1) H))u (15) Where I and 0 are identity and zero matrices respectively. The system equation can be rewritten as: x ̇=f(x)+g(x)u (16) Where f(x)=(■(0&I@0&–D^(–1) C))x+(■(0@〖–D〗^(–1) C)) (17) g(x)=(■(0@D^(–1) H)) (18) 5.2 Linear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. The Design Tool That I Will Use For My Research The design tool that I will use for my research case of study is the survey. Survey represents one of the most frequent types of quantitative in social science research. By utilizing the method of survey research, as a researcher I can cull a sample of respondents from a population and administers a uniform questionnaire to them; in this case the children ages 10– 13 yrs old and their parents from an aftercare program. The questionnaire, or survey, will be an indicated document that will be consummated by the person that will be surveyed, throughout a questionnaire, a face–to–face interview, or a telephone interview. • 17. Professional Development Survey Paper Introduction Professional development is defined as an ongoing trainings, activities workshops, coaching or learnings that help an employee gain skills related to his or her job responsibilities. In education, on–going professional development is a vital step to ensure that teachers are equipped with best practices to prepare students for the future. According to Billingsley (2005), "Professional development goals needs to emerge from the needs of needs of teachers" (p. 96). As such, the use of surveys and interests polls is encouraged to determine the needs of teachers. After identifying staff needs, it is crucial for a leader to plan and execute trainings aligned with Adult Learning Theory to increase engagement, generalization and skill application. The purpose for this paper is to evaluate the 2014–2015 professional development survey conducted by the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU). Furthermore, suggestions for improving the yearly practice will be made to increase participant responses and the quality data collected. Finally, a professional development ... • 19. Summary Of The Response To Intervention Chapter 3 The Response to Intervention, Referral, and Placement Process Reflection and Summary By: S. Elizabeth Jackson Examining the Response to Intervention (RTI) Process Response to Intervention (RTI) is an in school service program designed to guarantee that all students are getting a high quality education. Before students are referred for special education services, it is essential that they receive effective teaching designed to meet their own learning requirements. All students in public schools are required to be included in the RTI program. While the different program may vary from state to state, the basis of the models are the same. The RTI process has three tiers. In tier one is labeled curriculum–based classroom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teachers, during tier one, should closely follow the GREAT guidelines. Teachers are also expected to differentiate instruction for those who are struggling. Tier two teachers expected to collect extensive data on the at risk student. Teachers are to collect data not only on information the student got wrong, but also when they were correct. This aids in a more correct placement, if needed. The final tier of the RTI process, tier three, is where all the data collection comes into play. In order for a student to be admitted into tier three, there has to be adequate evidence to support this claim. The teacher needs to continue to collect data to provide information on whether or not the student has made progress with the interventions in place. The teacher may asked to organize the data collected during the previous interventions. The text suggest that the teacher may be asked to collect this data in the form of a visual aid, such as a bar graph. Process of Determining if a Student has a Disability and the Responsibilities of the Teacher When all the tiers of RTI have been utilized, the Students Support Team (SST) decides if the next appropriate step for the student is a referral to special education. Biased on the information gathered during the RTI process, the SST will appraise and see if the student meets the criteria for one of the IDEA categories of disability. Then I will define the electronic survey and its advantages and disadvantages. In fact, there is no strong theoretical base for questionnaire design. All researchers have their own way born out from their experience and other previous researchers' experience. Moreover, "Questionnaire design is more of an art than science" (Oberski, 2015, p. 1). The questionnaire is defined as "a document containing serious of questions and other types of items designed to solicit information appropriate to analysis" (Babbie, 1990, p. 377). In our daily work we used the questionnaire as a tool for collecting information to justify and explain cases, knowledge, and behaviors on target group. Questionnaire design is very crucial and important part of the research because inappropriate questionnaire will misleads the research result. Indeed, we used questionnaire in our daily life to satisfy our queries in in another format. For example, we ask questions in different events like when we want to pay something. Naomi had her face positioned directly in front of the mirror, her hand remaining steady and fluid as she swept her black eyeliner across her eyelid. They had class in ten minutes, but Naomi apparently ignored that fact. Carter knew her roommate spent a solid hour in front of the small mirror already; the girl curled her blonde hair in rippling waves and took her time on applying her contour and highlight despite it being so early in the morning and their destination being a small poetry class. Naomi was pretty though. That was her thing. Her trademark. Her smile was blinding, her hair was bouncy and soft, and her body possessed the grace that you only got from the combination of years of dedicated dancing and natural talent. Then it becomes of matter of each teacher's preference; however, Mrs. Espinoza addressed that changes have been made since the implementation of the Common Core Standards. What is occurring nowadays, she said, "each teacher take the Common Core and apply it to current lesson plans using the Basal or whatever they use, and for a whole year, just to see, what they are already doing and how it falls under the Common Core". Mrs. Valencia pointed that material selection is very different in the 5th and 6th grades. She explained that since it is novel based program, these grades do not follow any basal reader or reading series type of textbooks. The students are the ones who select the books they plan to read during the school year. To select these book, the students complete an interest inventory at the beginning of the school year; then, Mrs. Valencia and the Literature teacher, Mrs. Jacob plan together the activities that they will deliver; however, the students are guided through the process of their book selection and they complete this inventory with the teacher guidance; the materials are based on 5th and 6th grades reading skill levels, the possibility of using their content in the Language Arts classroom, and if they are a good example of the genre that the material pertain ... The Causes And Effects Of Violent Video Games Violent video games have always been a hot topic since the release of the first Mortal Kombat in October 1992 for home consoles, which, because of its violence, resulted in the creation of the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). There have been studies that show a correlation between violent video games and aggression resulting in both an increase and decrease in aggression among players, but all if not most studies have only been short–term experiments. The real question is whether violent video games cause an increase in short–term aggression to the point where the players start to commit violent actions because of it, but, if the aggression does increase, how to prevent the short–term aggression from increasing to the point where it becomes a problem without taking the games away. Almost every gamer who has played a multiplayer game with audio chat has either played with or against a person (usually a child) who, whenever they start to lose, they fly into an aggressive frenzy or tantrum, starting to do everything from cussing out other players, accusing them of being cheaters, and etc.. From there, a screening must take place. The screening can consist of hearing, vision, communication, and any other type that may be needed. Permission is not needed in order to do a screening. Next, Response to Intervention begins, also known as RTI. This provides levels or tiers of increasingly intensive instruction to help students master academic content. Tier 1 takes place in a regular classroom setting. Tier 2 involves and allows the student to go out to a specialty teacher. Tier 3 mainly takes place in a special education classroom. Tier 3 requires more one–on–one instruction for the student from the teacher. RTI serves two purposes– support struggling learners and identify students with learning disabilities. Parents are invited to take part in their child's RTI process. Other school professionals also take part during the RTI process to meet the child needs. Research Based Interventions are used during the RTI process. Data is gathered during the RTI process on a regular basis. After a few weeks, the team meets again to determine how beneficial the interventions are for the child. If RTI is working, it is continued, if RTI is not working, a meeting takes place where the RTI data is presented. Then the referral process initiates. RtI is based off multi–leveled tiers that are each categorized by the intensity of the intervention that is being used. RtI needs the full support of all staff members, because it does not show immediate results and could take between 3–5 years to see its positive impact. RtI gives schools the chance to correct literacy issues, and fix the problem early, before students' progress forward where they pay for it long into their future. RtI also helps implement behavioral interventions in the classroom through a similar process called Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS is based on a problem–solving model and aims to prevent inappropriate behavior through teaching and reinforcing appropriate behaviors (Sandomierski, Kincaid & Algozzine, 2007). Supporting Influences in the Process of Special Education How does the role of the Response to Intervention process (RTI), and the Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) structure influence the pre–referral process for special education? In today's time it is of common practice to use the RTI method for academic issues. Likewise, the PBIS framework is used for issues dealing with unfavorable characteristics in student behavior. Each method is widely known and looked on as a favorable approach. Both RTI and PBIS are very important in addressing students during the pre–referral process, and each plays a very significant role. In the following essay the aforementioned question of their role and influence will be explored and answered. In addressing the role of the Response to Intervention process (RTI), one must first become familiar with the premise of this process. RTI is a method that is used to address school aged children that are showing evidence of academic struggle. At the beginning of the pre–referral process, educators identify struggling pupils. Following this identification, these same teachers begin to explore several avenues of remediation through highly recommended research based approaches. An approach is selected, implemented, and the child's progress is documented fully. Thus, for the purposes of this essay, I shall describe the most recent inner conflict of note that I have experienced instead, and analyse it using the "Root Cause Analysis" and "5 Whys" strategies that were discussed in this week's reading. While it is not a particularly recent source of conflict – it happened about three or four years ago – it resulted in some life–changing events. I shall briefly describe the timeline: in January 2012, I move to New Zealand to study for a diploma in 3D Animation and VFX. By November 2012, I had decided that I no longer wanted to be studying towards a qualification in the VFX industry, and decided to enrol at one of the universities in Auckland for a degree in Hospitality instead. By March 2013, I had turned right around, and enrolled in a different school for a degree in none other than 3D Animation and VFX. Using the "Root Cause Analysis" and "5 Whys" strategies, I shall explore the reasons for these changes I made – what made me deflect from my original course, and then later why I came back to it. Many of these observations are made in hindsight, so may sound more logical and rational than I truly was at the time. First, I shall consider why I left my first course of study: ... • 60. Speech On Being Self Aware students. I provided office hours addressing any questions or concerns they may have or just general chit chat and this was a language school and every opportunity was an opportunity to speak English. Being Present 1. When I arrived to class I expected myself and my students to be fully present. If they were experiencing joy, sadness, a burden, I would have them share with the class before continuing on. This allowed my students to be focused on the now and not on what happened or will happen. An exercise that helped them accomplish this was to write something down that may be hindering them from being present and deposit it, without their name, into a classroom box. Temprarily, I was able to clear their mind and get them focused on what is happening now. – See more at: http://www.educationworld.com/a_curr/profdev/profdev170_c.shtml#sthash.E0UtKEEc.dpuf Being Self–Aware . Being self aware while teaching meant that I was aware of what I was saying, what I was thinking and how I was responding to the leaners' and the instructional material. I was self– ware of the decisions I made in and out of class. This is also what I encouraged in my students. Encouraging students to be self–aware, they consciously paid more attention. The learner proactively viewed themselves from the position of their higher self, through their feelings thoughts, decisions, and actions. I expected no less of them than what I expected of myself. • 62. How to Go Broke Going broke is a very tedious and cumbersome activity, which requires constant vigilance and tireless effort. Although many have accomplished this feat on their own, many of us require some form of guidance. This serves as the quintessential handbook of how to get broke; it shall be called The House of Cards Insolvency Process Guide. To begin, it is critical to limit the term broke as financially bankrupt. Although at times broke can refer to moral emptiness or may even be used to describe both pecuniary and personal ruin, we limit our definition strictly to fiscal failure. Before we delve into the step by step guidelines on achieving one's bankruptcy, certain foundations are suggested to be laid out in order to facilitate the process. ... Use words such as 'instability', 'hedging', and 'derivatives' to inspire awe and trust among those who discuss these activities with you. Of utmost importance to Step Two, one must invest in only certain types of products to assure that one's portfolio remains inflexible and susceptible to crashing. Next comes the more advanced form of unwise asset management: putting up businesses. In the Sound Business stage, the thoughtless and unabashed purchasing habits initiated in Step One shall be the basis. At this point, the financially carefree person should have festered into a near–irrational spender. Combined with the presumed delusions of grandeur instilled within every money dependent being, one's illogical fund management should produce poorly thought through and totally unreasoned out business plans. Logic and better judgment that should dawn on a person after a few days of the first occurrence of the insane business idea should be shelved for other situations. • 64. Our Iceberg Is Melting, By John Kotter "Once upon a time a colony of penguins was living in the frozen Antarctic on an iceberg near what we call today Cape Washington." From the first sentence of John Kotter's bestselling book, Our Iceberg Is Melting, it is difficult to tell that one is about to read a great fable about how to manage change in business as well as everyday life. ! The following summary will explain the key moments of the fable and how they relate to our lives. First, let's introduce some of the more important penguins – the Leadership Council members. Louis, the head of the Leadership Council, could perhaps be considered the CEO of the penguin colony. Alice is a smart, aggressive member of the council, and is Fred's loyal confidant. Buddy is a young penguin council member who may not be the brightest bulb in the box, but brings an element of trust among the council members. Fred is the most curious of all of the penguins; although he was an 'unknown' penguin in the beginning, he ultimately plays a very important role in the change process. Jordan, also known as the "Professor," was the brains of the council; he could perhaps be considered the 'researcher' of the group. Although the penguins start out simply as individuals, in the end, they are a well working team capable of effectively managing change. Fred, a quite curious penguin, studies the wonderful iceberg that the penguins consider home. He comes across a problem which suggests that their beloved iceberg may be in danger of ... Response Of Intervention ( Rti ) Process Response to Intervention Process Joey Veltri Reinhardt Univsersity Introduction The response to intervention (RTI) process allows educators to respond to students' academic and behavioral needs in the classroom. Educators can respond to student challenges by using instructional interventions to provide extra support to struggling students. An intervention is a type of instruction targeted to meet the learning and/or behavioral needs of a student. Interventions are in addition to the general classroom instruction. The interventions may vary in intensity. They can increase or decrease in intensity as determined by students' needs. Students are progress monitored by using checkpoints to measure their performance. Progress monitoring is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every student engages in high quality instruction in the classroom at the Tier 1 level. In Tier 1, students get a daily opportunity to learn grade level curriculum and get basic differentiation to support their needs. The grade level standards are taught using research based, best practices. Teachers may work with small groups and provide hands – on activities to make learning meaningful and relevant to students. All students receive periodic assessments that allow the teacher to identify if they require more intense support. Often times, schools will implement a schoolwide screening tool to benchmark students and determine if they need supplemental instruction to meet grade level expectations. Data collection from these assessments helps to guide teacher instruction and will also help to determine if a student needs more support in one or more academic areas. RTI Pyramid Tier 2 If a student is needing extra support in grasping grade level curriculum, they are moved into Tier 2. Tier 2 is the second level in the RTI pyramid and allows for more support to a struggling student. The student will still receive differentiated instruction just as they were given in the Tier 1 level. In Tier 2, a support team including the classroom teacher, an early intervention teacher, and parents work together to create a learning plan that works best for the student. • 68. Particle Swarm Optimization And Its Range Of Operation function, their numbers and intersection value determines accuracy of the tool and its range of operation. If the membership function covers poles values from 0 to 4 then the maximum value for pole is 4 and the least value is 0 and same thing happens for the constants. Each unit reduces an order of two to order of one. If a transfer function of higher order is needed to be reduced the operation is repeated several times. For example an order 8 to 2 function reduction will reduce the 8 poles into 4 poles then the 4 new poles into the final 2 poles. E. Particle Swarm Technique Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is initialized with a group of random particles (solutions) and then searches for optima by updating generations. In every iteration, each particle is updated by following two "best" values. The first one is the best solution (fitness) each particle has achieved so far, this value is called Pbest. Another "best" value that is tracked by the particle swarm optimizer is the best value, obtained so far by any particle in the population. This best value is a global best and called Gbest. Each particle consists of: Data representing a possible solution, a velocity value indicating how much the Data can be changed, a personal best (Pbest) value indicating the closest the particle 's Data has ever come to the Target. The particles ' data could be anything. In the flocking birds' example above, the data would be the X, Y, Z coordinates of each bird. The individual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. Graduation Speech : High School Society then and now is filled with people that chase their dreams of being famous, smart, or a pro sport competitor. What separates those who succeed and fail is the amount of dedication they put in, whether or not it started early in their life. For me it began when I was a freshman in high school. I was very active in playing in the marching and concert band. I played the saxophone and impressed a few other students during class. About a week later, after my class period ended, two friends of mine came up to me and suggested that I try out for the show choir band. I asked what it was and found out that it was a band playing with a singing and dancing choir. I was not at all hesitant to say yes and I remember having to ask my mom if it was okay that I was trying out for the band and she surprisingly said yes. I was filled with excitement being offered an opportunity like that and so I quickly walked to the choir room after the school day was over, played my audition piece, and in the end I made the band. Later on I talked to a few of my other friends from band and encouraged them to try out and so they did. They all ended up making the band as well and so the beginning of a new show choir band began. Once all of the try outs were concluded my friends and I were all given a schedule and informed when the first practice was. I looked at the schedule thinking that practices were not going to be long, but looking at the first practice made me realize that this band is going to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 78. What Is Self Care? Essay What is Self–Care? Self–care is one of those words that therapists use, forgetting that the rest of the population has never heard of it. Basically, it is a noun referring to taking care of your own emotional well–being. Self–Care works on two levels. First, the obvious– it allows you to take care of yourself, to nurture yourself. Second, it subconsciously sends you the message that you deserve to be taken care of, which can help increase your self–esteem, self–worth, and happiness. Self–care doesn 't need to take up a lot of time. Even the busiest person could build in five minutes a day to do some deep–breathing or to call a friend. Explore how self–care can fit into your schedule. Show yourself that YOU are just as important as the other responsibilities in your life. Self–care can mean adding one thing into each day that you can look forward to. It could be watching your favorite TV show, taking an extra long shower, or spending five minutes in silence– whatever works for you. Just because you 're feeling happy, doesn 't mean that self–care isn 't necessary. It is still important to pay attention to your needs and feelings, and to nurture yourself.
