Little Women During The American Civil War
Families whether they are big or small have different social norms and interact with each other
very differently. Some families are very open with each other, while others are very closed. A
change within a family unit has an effect on the family s dynamic and how the family members
interact with each other. American culture reflects this in the belief that families are changed either
positively or negatively by major emotional events.
The family unit can be described in many different ways. Sometimes the family unit, like in Little
Women by Louisa May Alcott, consists of everyone that is blood related. The family unit can also
extend past genetic barriers and represent big groups such as everyone in the United States of
America. The family unit is not exclusive of a specific classification of the members.
In Little Women, the March family had to adjust due to emotional events in their family during
the American Civil War period. Little Women is a novel set in the early 1860s about a family,
which consists of Mr. and Mrs. March, and their four daughters, Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth. Jo, the
second oldest child, is the protagonist in the book. She does not like change and during the book
her world changes beyond her control. Early in the book all four sisters, even though they were not
all the same age, were open to each other and told each other everything. Their father was away
fighting in the Civil War. America was experiencing troubles and went into war, which

Chinese Buddhism
Buddhism traveled from India through the Silk Road and Central Asia to northern China in the first
century C.E. At that time the Chinese believed in Confucian values also known as the Chinese
values. The conflict between these values continued through many ruling Chinese dynasties. There
were inherent differences between the Buddhist beliefs and practices and traditional Confucius
beliefs practiced by the Chinese. These differences are captured in the three sources which are
collection of many biographies.
The first source is a collection of sixty five biographies of Buddhist nuns. This covers the period
between fourth and sixth centuries. This passage deals with the lives of nuns. It is a story of
Lingshou who was a young and intelligent woman. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The passage articulated how increase in Buddhism has created more priests and temples at the cost
of work and family values. The spread of Buddhism lead to exhaustion of resources of the Empire
from 317 C.E through 557 C.E. Gigantic temples and monasteries were like Imperial palaces.
Huge amounts of money instead of going into farming and business went into building temples and
monasteries. Taizong the Imperial ancestor who ruled during the period 626 649 C.E built the
Middle Kingdom by governing his kingdom his accomplished learning and culture. He believed in
the power of state but he tried to balance both Buddhism and Chinese values. Zhenguan and
Gaiyuan, later instituted radical changes. The Buddhist enjoyed many privileges; they did not pay
taxes and were treated differently, which was detrimental to state. These values were at variance
with the Confucius values of general applicability of rules to all people within the state. By
confiscating land occupied by temples and monasteries and by bringing the monks into the
mainstream of the state a healthy balance was achieved which ended the extremes of the first two

Emily Grierson Bystander
In the short story A Rose for Emily, author William Faulkner shows a woman, Miss Emily
Grierson, who is seen as an upholder for tradition by the community. Emily lives on her own with
a butler in her old, dusty mansion and has her story told by the viewpoint of unnamed narrators in
a total of five sections, each depicting her life from someone one in the community s perspective.
The story demonstrates Emily s life through the eyes of bystanders. We are introduced to the main
character through her funeral being hosted in her home in which has not been seen in over ten
years, excluding the single servant. Miss Emily had a special relationship within the community
since 1894 when they remitted her taxes. As the more modern ideas arose, the new generation was
dissatisfied with the old arrangement. They had a special meeting in her home where they were
quickly excused off the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is after her most recent lover disappeared and her father has been dead for about two years.
Instead of confronting Miss Emily about the smell, a group of men were sent at midnight to
clean up the smell with lime and eventually the smell was gone. The Story now returns further
into the past, more recent to the death of her father, as the new narrator gives details about her
boyfriend Homer Barron. The town disapproves of their relationship and fail at attempting to end
their relationship. Later she is seen in a drug store ordering arsenic. When asked for legal reason
on the purpose of purchase, she gives no response and is mail them anyways. The town takes the
assumption of Miss Emily having suicidal thoughts over relationship issues with Homer. Miss
Emily is now seen purchasing more masculine items, leading the town to assume that she will
marry. Homer leaves town and returns later, only be to seen a final time entering Miss Emily s
home; she now barely leaves her home with minor

Functional Model Of Rehabilitation
At the mention of rehabilitation, images of physical therapy, addiction withdrawal, and even
prisons flow through my head. In our modern time, rehabilitation exists with a good connotation,
expressing the idea of renewal or resetting to what is deemed normal or natural to our society.
Merriam Webster describes rehabilitation as the process of restoring an individual to a useful and
productive place in society through some form of vocational, correctional, or therapeutic retraining.
Perhaps it s a reaction to the Functional Model, in which society would view criminals, addicts, and
handicaps as irrelevant to the general progression of the economy. The idea that they need to be
restored to normal as closely as possible contains an undertone... Show more content on

N.p., n.d. Web. 05 Sept. 2016). In addition, the idea of rehabilitating addictive behaviour has
existed since the beginning of the 19th century temperance movement. It gave rise to our
modern notion of addiction and the duty of our society to alleviate the struggles of the addicts.
This rehabilitation of addicts would eliminate or obstruct the social decay which was believed to
be a result of indulging in a spirituous beverage. Here , a socio political model of disability
reveals itself as the addicts represent the minority group , but not only do they recognize
themselves as part of the group, society recognizes the group as a catalyst to social decay and
produces rehabilitation as a cure for the problem. Although rehabilitation has some selfish
undertones represented by the sociopolitical and Functional models, it aims for the care and
restoration of the ill(mentally, emotionally, or physically) to a more comfortable and healthier

Homework: Questions of budgeting
1. Discuss some of the major benefits to be gained from budgeting.
It motivates the executives to define the basic objectives of the company, it gives a structure to the
company by defining the responsibilities of each of the parts that forms the organization, it
motivates and rises the participation of all workers of the company, it obligates to maintain a
control document with historical data, it facilitates managers the use of resources, and it gives
periodic evaluations and analysis.

It explains that a company must be decentralized or separated into manageable parts. ... Show more

Who are the participants in the budgeting process, and how do they participate?
First the management must choose a period of time for which the budget will be used; the most
convenient period is of one year. A period can also be of one month in which it is easier to compare
the real expenses against the planned expenses. A committee of budgeting formed by several
members of the organization executives watch the process of the preparation of the budgeting. This
committee sets the rules by which the budgeting must be done and coordinates the budgets that
separately are prepared by the different units in the organization, and solves conflicts that may arise
to later present the final budgeting plan to the general director and the consul. Instructions must be
delivered by the ordinary chain of command. Decisions over the budgeting must be done by the line
of command, and the final planning by the general director, while the staff can only give advises,
but cannot decide. The person who decides is the budgeting director. His main functions are to
inform the mechanism of the budgeting preparation through computers and telecommunications, to
give the macroeconomics information, make the necessary calculations, gather the numbers for the
budget, and watch that each part of the company gives their proposals on time. Once the period of
time is established, the committee must listen to the companies expectations and objectives. Then a

The Importance Of Censorship In College Education
The United States, the land of the free, prides itself in the rights given to its people. Despite the
acclaimed freedom of America, Americans, especially college students, are not as free as the
founding fathers would have hoped. When the First Amendment was adopted on December 15,
1791, Americans were given the Freedom of Religion, Speech, the Press, Assembly, and Petition.
While the Constitution clearly grants these rights to all U.S. citizens, individuals still fight for these
freedoms. Specifically, the Freedom of Speechis an ongoing issue which people continue to pursue.
This freedom is essential to student growth in higher education, yet collegestudents are often
limited by what they can say while on campus. The censorship of individual and group speech
threatens the purpose of a liberal education. It also limits the freedoms of a free society.
Students should be encouraged to voice their individual feelings and views on worldly issues,
instead of being shunned and threatened for doing so. The purpose of a liberal education is to not
only to educate individuals but also to introduce them to the different cultures and beliefs of the
students they sit beside during class. Exposure to the views of others allows students to expand
their own knowledge on current issues, individual rights, cultural differences, and more. An
important part of one s education is to grow spiritually, individually, and culturally, as well as
intellectually. One must note that the experiences

A Brief Look at Subrata Roy
Introduction A table, two chairs, a Lambretta scooter and Rs. 2000 in pocket . Many
entrepreneurs may have similar beginnings, but none of them would match the person about
whom we are going to discuss. The man, who formed India s biggest family namely Sahara
Parivar . A man, who did not care about the road blocks, who always had faith in himself and
moved forward to show that roadblocks are nothing before determination and even demonstrated
how they help in success. We are talking about Subrata Roy Saharasree . A smiley face and
traditional moustache are the most common look of Saharesree. A man born in Bihar, where rarely
any businessmen have been born, did the traditional Lala business money interest calculation, done
by almost all the wealthy people in Indian villages and small town. Despite all odds against him, he
still got success.
Journey In 1978, Subrata Roy started his business with Rs. 2000/ as capital. His first business was
raising funds from the people. Due to some bad business by some businessman, the government
banned this business in 1979 80. Roy s first business went into vain and he had to make the payment
immediately. After closure of first business, he started housing finance business. After 2 years, in
1982 the government imposed some ceiling on the raising fund for housing finance, which limited
the growth rate and compelled him to think beyond it. After these incidences, Mr. Roy started

100 Life Expectancy Calculator
I was surprised at how much education level, marital status, weight, blood pressure, and stress
can affect a life expectance. According to the Living to 100 Life Expectancy Calculator, I am
predicted to live to 93 years old. A 2015 National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and
Medicine report said men born in 1930 could expect to reach about age 82 if their income put them
in the top 20 percent of earners and they survived to age 50. And high earners born in 1960 are
projected to live to 89 a sizable seven year gain in three decades (Henricks, 2018, para 9). Marital
status can also play a part in determining longevity. Getting married is a good way to live longer at

healthy diet can all be contributing factors. Experts also agree that where a person lives, good

these are all important factors, but there are no guarantees because life is unpredictable. Buskak,

Contemporary Art Brazil
Contemporary Art from Brazil Over the years, Brazilian culture played an important role in
Western civilization. In order to learn more about Brazilian culture up close, I had a chance to
visit Histories: Contemporary Art from Brazil and Sandra Cinto: Chance and Necessity which is
located at USF Contemporary Art Museum. The museum has some artworks done by an Brazilian
artists whose approaches address the varied histories of Brazil, some collective, some individual,
but all rooted in reflections on the country s complicated past and present, and vast geographical,
racial, and cultural wealth and diversity. I believe this visit is a rich experience for me about the

her dramatic scenarios incorporating water, the night sky and billowing seas, that transform
exhibition spaces into places of meditation on the passing of time and the relationship of humans
to nature. Moreover, I really consider Carla as inspirational artist because her work makes you
think differently about Brazil, how it is created and how it has a lot of races mixed with one
culture and one nation. In addition, I liked how they presented their traditional culture by simple
works as Lugar para um corpo ( Place for a Body) which is done by Sonia Gomes, this artwork
shows us how they are simple and very naturel. On the other hand, I ve been looking forward to
diversity of the artworks to learn more broadly about Brazil such as education, trade and the
history of art in Brazil. In nutshell, I believe that USF Contemporary Art Museum has an amazing

The Importance Of Business Communication
Good communication s high value in the business world is incontestable. In fact, it s not
unreasonable to hypothesize a business world without communication would be impossible. There
are two types of communication that take place in business in four different ways. Good
communication has uncountable benefits for the business world.
There are four different types of communications in every business that should be proficient in order
for the business to be successful. The first is intra business communication; different departments or
employees in the same company communicating. An example would be the accounting department
communicating with the sales department. Internal business communication is important to your
company s success. The smooth transfer of information between departments ensures that daily
tasks are completed. (bizfluent.com) Another type of communication in the workplace is
managerial. This type of communication pertains to managers communicating with their
employees. The constant interaction between a manager and employee on day to day issues can
help to head off problems before they cause damage, and can allow the staff to develop solutions
that can be implemented in other parts of the company. (bizfluent.com) One of the most important
types of business communication is customer communication. It is imperative to have good

Sample Theme Essay on Amigo Brothers
SAMPLE ESSAY ON THEME The Amigo Brothers, written by Piri Thomas, is a story about a
special friendship between two boys. Antonio and Felix, two seventeen year old boys, have grown
up together and are very close to one another. They do almost everything together. They both dream
of a future in which they will be the lightweight champions of the world, and together they help
each other train regularly. Then a time comes when their friendship is threatened because for the
first time ever, they have to compete against one another in a match. In the end, however, their
relationship survives because both boys value their friendship above their ambitions. Through the

Felix, too, tries to block out his thoughts and feelings about Antonio, but while he is sitting in a

the movie screen while he, Felix, is punching him out. Both boys are unable to stop thinking about
protecting the other because their relationship is so important to them. Here, again Piri uses the
boys to testify to the value of friendship. Finally, the story s theme is relayed through the final
actions of the boys. During the fight, both are focused on winning the match. Each attacks the other
with full force. The fight becomes so violent that the referee has to pull them apart. After cold water
is poured on both of them, they start to come back to reality. When they realize what has happened
to them, they rush toward each other and hug. Afterwards, the bell rings to announce the winner of
the fight, but when the announcer looks around to identify the victor, no one is there. The boys
leave the ring arm in arm. The reason they leave is that they realize that winning is not what is most
important to them. What they really care about is their friendship. Piri finalizes his theme through
the ultimate actions of the boys. In conclusion, the boys choice to leave

Reflection Paper On Powerlifting Moment
Powerlifting Progression
After enduring months of intense conditioning, the time came for us to see if our work paid off.
It was testing week for varsity football and bench press day had arrived. I maxed out at 335
pounds at the beginning of the year and I was looking to make some gains. I did my dynamic
warm up and static stretches and hit a few reps of 300 pounds to stimulate blood flow. Routinely
reaching for my weightlifting belt, I arrived at a dilemma. The belt evidently grew a conscience
of its own and decided not to function. Presented with a chance to test the nature of my raw
muscle, I had to visualize lifting 365 pounds without the aid of a weightlifting belt. I sat down
and performed my normal pre lift rituals to gain composure. Gradually lying backward, I grasped
the bar as I adjusted my back to the bench. With a deep breath, I un racked the bar and claimed the
strongest bench press in the history of the school. This record, however, was not the only accolade
I acquired from powerlifting.
As a powerlifter, I am continuously prompted to assess my physical condition at any given time.
This awareness is very crucial because it has helped me balance the degree that I increase the
intensity of my workout to get stronger with the appropriate recovery time that allows my muscles
to recuperate. As the complexity of my workout progresses, my overall physical development
follows suit. Knowing that advancement in the weight room is enhanced through awareness, I
greatly utilize this understanding of growth when considering my intellectual progression.
If I want to become stronger in a particular lift, I start by highlighting details in individual
segments of that lift that can be improved. I make similar observations in regards to my
intellectual state; for example, stability exists as the foundation of my outlook on the world. From
the atmosphere of my upbringing as a homeschool student, to my pastimes as a powerlifter and
critical thinker, stability gives meaning to many properties that comprise my character. Being the
third of eight children, most of the things I do have already been done before at least once in my
family. I am often tasked with an expectation to succeed solely because of this precedent,

Nietzsche And Buddhism
Both, Friedrich Nietzsche and the Buddha, at least at the level of conventional truth, look at the life
and the world as largely nihilistic and unsatisfying, and search for a solution to the meaninglessness
of their respective cultural situations by turning within and advocating a transformation of our
inner forces and of our outlook on the world. The major difference between Nietzsche and
Buddhism, however, lies in the role of the will in nihilism and its overcoming. For the Buddha, only
by cutting the root of the fundamental will altogether, through the self overcoming of the will to
power, one can step beyond nihilism. The radicality of both Nietzsche s negation and his
affirmation of life, on the contrary, is limited insofar as the standpoint

her rebellious to the common norm. Her impact changed the fashion industry completely to

Carry On College Campuses
When pondering guns we tend to think whether the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms,
would be taken away. Whether or not to allow concealed weapons on college campuses has been
a debated topic for many years. Whether we should allow conceal and carry on campuses seems
like a hard debate for many reasons, one such as whether it would be safe to allow college
students to be armed with weapons. Several colleges lately have been allowing conceal and
carry on their college campuses. Conceal and carry used to be a topic that not many people
thought would come up when talking about colleges and where to go. The recent shootings have

In order for students to be successful in college, they must be responsible. John McNay once
said, There is an assumption that if these people are licensed to carry guns then they will act
responsibility and wise with the weapons. But we license people to drive cars, too, and we see
people driving foolishly and carelessly all the time (McNay). This states that there seems to be not
much trust in the college students and that they will probably not act as responsible as they should
with a deadly weapon in their possession. If the students are trusted to carry a gun, then they should
be responsible with that gun in hand. Other factors also come into play when considering
whether students should be allowed to carry guns, such as drugs or alcohol could play a role in
how students act. Vore once said, A lot of folks think they re just going to carry a gun ... and just
going to pop their head up and confront the shooter and shoot them (Hulsey). People who have
guns often feel like they are strong and are invincible. They often act like they can confront the
person when they can t always do that. It isn t safe because the student could easily be shot by the
shooter. Shooters are more likely to shoot someone who has a gun than someone who doesn t, so
students are just putting themselves in more danger if they have a gun in hand. Students need to be
more responsible in knowing when the right time would be to take

Someone who is considered a hero who displayed a great amount of patience is Rosa Parks.
Parks knew that there was a problem and the amazing thing is that she waited for her moment,
and when she saw it, she took it: On December 1, 1955, a black woman named Rosa Parks took a
stand that would change the nation. She was arrested while riding a city bus in Montgomery,
Alabama. The charge: Refusing to give up her seat to a white man (Modigliani). Barry often
displays the same quality of patience in the way he lives his life. The Arrow, a friend of Barry s
who is also a super hero, acts as a mentor to him multiple times. The Arrow teaches Barry that he
needs to assess every situation before he charges in to save the day. Barry applies the advice The
Arrow gives him to his life and puts himself in danger much less frequently because of it (Flash vs.

Social Rank Essay
There are many forms or types of rank social (gender, race, education, professional, health, age,
religion), psychological and spiritual rank. Social rank, in particular, is bestowed unequally by the
society and culture we live in, being derived from mainstream biases and prejudices. Some rank is
earned (personal development, education, expertise) and some not(racial, gender, height, certain
health characteristics).
The more rank one has, the less one is aware to its effects on others. Those with lower rank are
attuned to its sting and humiliation. Each of us can have high rank in one or more types, and less
rank in others. High social rank individuals can be undermined by their low psychological rank.

Who resists the call for change? Who defends the status quo? Doctors are among the most highly
paid professionals in our society. The current system benefits them by limiting the education and
licensing of doctors, thus creating low supply in the face of increasingly high demand. Insurance
companies, with the input of physicians, determine the rate of reimbursement for physician
services. Health care corporations continue to be good investments, despite the recession. The
pejorative term socialized medicine , first coined by a free market focus group opposing President
Truman s attempt to create a government sponsored health care system in the 1940 s, has
successfully forestalled change by frightening the public with images of inept and oppressive
governmental interference in health care. The current system, unjust, inadequate and expensive,
continues to profit the few ( doctors, pharmaceutical corporations, hospital corporations, HMO s
politicians) to the detriment of all. This is a rank issue. Who profits the most resists change the
most, and uses rank to influence and obstruct. The medical industrial congressional complex, which
comprises of our gross domestic product, overtly and covertly, opposes change which threatens
their interests ( profits ) opposes health care reform and justice. They have the money, the access to

Analysis Of Alcoa s Core Practices

Last year, the community of Ferndale was in chaos over the upcoming curtailment of Alcoa Intalco

the rumor started, every employee suffered the upcoming turmoil with hard work, dedications that
exceeded expectations, continuous loyalty and grace. Over 500 jobs were hanging in the balance

On May 2000, Alcoa executives entertained the idea of building a power plant for Intalco
however resulted in selling its power back to BPA, supposedly to help cover the energy crisis
which is the plant s most challenging aspect of its business. BPA pays for the wages and
benefits of nearly all the workers, plus $1.75 million to cover Intalco s tax burden, in 2001 as
reported in The Bellingham Herald printed on the August 2016 article. In 2002, it reopened two
potlines that were idle for 6 months which a year later were forced to shut down again due to
high energy cost. This move did cost 200 employees out of a job. In 2006, Alcoa Inc. became the
full owner of Alcoa Intalco Works after buying out its partners and later signed a five year
contract with BPA for its 450 employees, and eventually re opened the second potline. In 2008,
there was a contiguity for budget cuts including 100 jobs due to low demands in aluminum which
later increased in 2009 after BPA and Alcoa Intalco agreed over enough low cost power to last
another seven years.
Alcoa created its aluminum using a process called Hall Herould through electrolysis since
aluminum is highly reactive, also requires a lot of power. This single aluminum plant uses as much
electricity as the city of Tacoma to produce billet, foundry, T ingot, and standard ingot. The
company currently spends a lot of money researching ways to use less power. It, however, still

M1 Team Roles and strategic planning
In this report I am going to be discussing the different team roles and how they are effective
within a business. I will also be looking at what roles I took on during the KS5 Preparations
Evening, how roles complement each other and what roles are essential for a high achieving team.
I will also be looking into strategic planning, the strategic plans of *Blank* and how our team
helped to meet these.
Introduction and comparison of different team roles

by Belbin. This theory suggests the roles needed in order to create the perfect high achieving team.

would play in a team I was an Implementer and Completer/Finisher. I think that this was clear in my
jobs both before the event and during the event. For both my tasks on the evening and

The Empire Of Crete
The Empire of Crete is an island strategically positioned in the Mediterranean Sea. Crete controls
most of Eastern Mediterranean trade and taxes. Crete has the ability to trade with Egypt, Syria,
Cyprus, the Aegean islands, the mainland and west Sicily (Thomas Sakoulas). This is how Crete
gets its income. The issue is Crete has materials to build boats, but as soon as Crete reaches the
mainland they lack animals to carry their goods across the Silk Road. The Crete Empire will
secure trade along the Silk Road by forging alliances with the Bedouins and Ottoman Empire. The

Crete sails, the Bedouins meet up with Crete and trade camels and timber. Timber was one of
the natural resources that was commercially exploited and exported to nearby Egypt (Thomas
Sakoulas). Since the Bedouins are helping Crete, Crete will take off fifty percent for the vessels
the Bedouins use, on the Eastern Mediterranean. In return, the Bedouins will provide an army
for Crete to block the Holy Roman Empire from using the trade routes. One army will not hold
off all of Rome, so Crete agreed to partner up with the Ottomans and have the Ottoman army tag
along with the Bedouins. Therefore, Crete will allow the Ottomans no taxation on the eastern
sea. Crete shall do this because they have harsh history with Rome. Professor Keith Bradley said,
Rome once forced people to be Greek slaves. This is showing that Crete would never trade, nor
partner up with the Holy Roman Empire, because they enslaved Crete s own family. In conclusion,
Crete will gain power, wealth, and peace because of the Silk

Cure of the Streets
The poet Rainer Maria Rilke says that a work of art is good if it has sprung from necessity
(Farley). Hip Hop was born on the poor and dangerous streets of the USA. Minorities such as
African Americans and Hispanics dominated these streets, and they felt the need to address their
long standing common issues. Therefore, a new form of art, hip hop was born, and became the
method of self expression for these minorities. Lyrics have presented what they have been
through. While rap has turned from a tool of self expression to a multi billion dollar industry, it
has continued to constructively affect the social and economic structure of the society. While
serving as a good alternative to the streets, hip hop positively uplifts the cultural barriers within
the society and educates the youth. In order to better understand the necessity and the influence
of hip hop, the history of how and where this music emerged is highly important. In the 1970s,
Hip hop was born in the immensely impoverished, crime ridden, drug infested streets of the
Bronx , which were often called America s worst slum or the epitome of urban failure (Price 4).
Emmett Price III, the writer of Hip Hop Culture, says that the ostracized, marginalized, and
oppressed youth started hip hop as a liberation movement , and they aimed to combat against
issues of racial prejudice, cultural persecution, and social, economic, and political disparities (Price
1). From the 1970s to the 1990s, hip hop had increased

Nurses should be full partners, with physicians and other health professionals, in redesigning health
care in the United States. 4. Effective workforce planning and policy making require better data
collection and information infrastructure. What I took from those four main issues is the
importance for nurses to continue with their training, so that those currently in the nursing
profession would be more competent, with a larger range of responsibilities. Through that further
nursing education and making programs more accessible to the nursing profession to achieve a
higher level of education. Nurses are the ones that are delivering care; therefore nurses should be
active in regards to resigning of health care. Nurses need to speak and be able, have input into the
implementation of health care systems. In my opinion, the report re invents health care in
America. Nurses are the largest part of the health workforce. They are often seen as the most
trusted in the health care profession. From what I understood, it lets APNs work towards their
fullest potential in being able to provide quality, effective, safe care. The ability to work
independently and no longer hinders the APN to provide full primary care services.

Harvard Business Review s Fixing Health Care From Inside...
Harvard Business Review s Fixing Health Care From Inside Out was a unique collection of
examples on how all members of a health system, both clinical and administrative, make a huge
different on operations. This compilation not only provided exceptionally informative articles,
but also many charts, graphs, and other depictions to back up the points the contributors were
making. Many of the remarks in these articles seemed to be simple fixes or strategies that do not
seem that hard to implement, but in reality they are so challenging because making changes can
be a big deal for any organization. All ten of the articles offered a distinct perspective and
innovative ideas that future healthcare leaders such as myself could use moving forward. Some of
the key points highlighted were to implement changes on smaller scales first and then go larger, to
tackle issues as they come up and not put them off for the future, and also the importance of all
staff working together as a team rather than in pursuit of individual goals. Community Relations

doing it for one reason, to gather information. The last thing I am going to want is some company

A third disadvantage to e marketing is intrusive e mail. E mail is a good way to communicate long

choices, and using laws to make choices for us where as our rights should apply. From a rightful
stand point, his argument of this could be considered applicable. However, the government?s stated
agenda is to constantly protect the citizens of the state via laws, rules, and social standards. One
can argue that rights are being infringed on, but the government has factually shown that deaths
have decreased in auto accidents, and therefore they succeed in protecting the state. For example,
the increase in seat belt usage has caused a 14 percent reduction in serious and fatal accidents in
the state of North Carolina (Success Stories 1999). Apparently, the placement of seat belt
restrictions has allowed the safety of citizens to continue. Beyond the safety benefit, this has
allowed the lowering of insurance premiums and savings of health care related costs (Success

refuses to discuss the idea of saving lives and health costs. A compromise should exist between
rights and responsibility, but the current policy shows a more advantage situation.

Patrice Lumumba And The Congo Crisis
In June of 1960, at the height of the Cold War, Congo received its independence from King
Leopold II s Belgium. Patrice Lumumba, the first Prime Minister of Congo, was instrumental in
the Congolese bid for independence, and played a similar role in the early stages of postcolonial
Congo, known as the Congo Crisis. In the new Congolese nation, Lumumba was faced with the
challenge of unifying a large African nation with difficulties arising from Cold warinfluences and
geopolitical tensions. As Prime Minister, Lumumba s primary goal was to build a functioning
Congolese state, with the Cold War being irrelevant save its ability to help in the process of state
building.
For the most part, the new Congolese government was populated by elites ... Show more content on

The short term success of communist and other highly centralized governments was enticing to
Lumumba, so he turned to a strong centralized government as his way of unifying Congo. In the
context of the Cold War, with fears and tensions at an all time high, this methodology alarmed the
nations of the free world. The Belgians and opposing political parties propagated the rumors of
Lumumba s communist tendencies, vilifying Lumumba. As Lumumba later found out, this was an
unfortunate resemblance to bear in the free world.
Bearing the alleged connection to communism, Lumumba had to complete the difficult task of
unifying a vast landscape with many diverse ethnicities, languages, and political interests. The
province of Katanga posed the greatest threat to Lumumba in this respect. Katanga was extremely
important as it was the most wealthy and lucrative province in Congo, making it paramount to a
successful Congolese nation. Unfortunately for Congo, Moise Tshombe, the leader of Katanga, did
not see eye to eye with Lumumba. As demonstrated in film, the leaders of Katanga, with the support
of Belgium, sought to secede from the independent Congo, resulting in a frenzy as the soldiers led a
Katangese revolt. As a consequence, geopolitical tensions were at their zenith. Lumumba attempted
to quell this revolt with his own troops, but the new Congolese nation s army was untrained and
unorganized and thus was ineffectual in its response to the chaos.

Who Is Mending Wall, And Stopping By The Woods On A Snowy...
In the poems by Robert frost, Mending Wall , The Road Not Taken , and Stopping by the Woods
on a Snowy Evening . As we take a broad view, we see a correlation of the theme from all three
poems. Consisting of either an outdoor setting or nature setting
2.In The Road Not Taken , we see the narrator, Robert Frost, comes upon a fork in the road while
walking through the yellow wood. He takes a while and thinks about both paths and decides that
each path is equally often taken and they both catch his attention. After choosing one of the roads,
the narrator tells himself that he will come back to this fork one day to try the other road. But, he
realizes that this is highly unlikely that he will ever will come back to this specific point ... Show

A few moments later, he decides to continue his trail ride.
5.This poem is somewhat, very complex. As we look at the first, second, and fourth line rhyme,
(Know, though, and snow.) while the third line rhymes with them as well, but in the sense of,
(here, queer, near, and year.) Iambic meter, four stanzas with them each having four stressed
syllables. He also repeats the final line twice, that he would like to stay more but must move on
with life. The poem also gives off a hint of him wanting to express adventure, and experiences of
new things perhaps.
6.In his piece, Mending Wall , it seems to talk about two neighbors meeting to repair a wall that
divides their property. The narrator is skeptical, he does not seem to understand the need for a
wall when there is no livestock to be contained or anything of the sorts, only an apple and pine
tree. He does not believe that a wall should exist simply for it just to be there. He cannot help but
come to notice that many people out in the world, or their area does not seem to like the wall as
much as hi=e does not like the wall. Then, gaps begin to appear in the wall out of nowhere,
boulders fall for no reason. The neighbor, proclaims that the wall is crucial to maintaining their
relationship, ultimately stating, Good fences make good neighbors.
7.We can see from the way this poem is set up, the narrator has no real set or meter of this poem. It
s like a blank verse type deal. The narrator seems

Iva Toguri Aquino In The Hunt For The Tokyo Rose
A person who is blamed for the wrongdoings, mistakes, or faults of others, especially for reasons
of expediency: this is the definition of scapegoat. It is also how one might describe the role of Iva
Toguri Aquino in the hunt for the Tokyo Rose. Betrayed by not one but two countries she called
home, Iva Toguri Aquino was the seventh person in the history of the United Statesto be tried and
convicted of treason. D Aquino v. United States is the case involving a young American born
and raised woman of Japanese heritage, who was taken advantage of by the U.S. and Japanese
government and a mythical siren blamed for the discouragement of U.S. Troops during World
War II. Iva Toguri was born on July 4th, 1916 in Los Angeles, California. She left the U.S.A. for
Japan to further her study in medicine and take care of her ill aunt not long after graduating
from UCLA. Once healthy, Iva Toguri s aunt turned her out on her own, claiming it was too
expensive to feed her. Forced to find a job rather quickly, she picked up a job as a local radio
station broadcaster. While working that job, Toguri married a Portuguese citizen, Felipe D
Aquino and denied many offers by family and friends to become a Japanese or Portuguese
citizen. However, when she attempted to return to America, she was told there was no proof of
her citizenship and was required to stay in Japan. Shortly after, Toguri was hand picked by the
executive producer of Zero Hour , a radio station produced by the Japanese government, to cover a
segment broadcasted to the American Troops and their allies. Iva Toguri broadcasted under the
name of Orphan Ann or Orphan Annie but was swindled into signing a contract labeling her as the
Tokyo Rosesome time post war when interviewed by journalists. Post war, it was realized that
Zero Hour was one of the Japanese s many forms of psychological warfare. This epiphany started
a hunt for the mythical siren, the Tokyo Rose. Many American speaking women were recruited by
Broadcasting Corporation of Japan( production company that worked hand in hand with the
Japanese government) to cover various demoralizing segments of Zero Hour and say things like

Use Of Voice Inside Our Minds
There are many ways of self expression. We may express ourselves through music, written and
oral interpretation, our political affiliation, and lastly, our voice. Though we may not realize it,
we are under the constant influence of the power of voice. Whenever we read an article, type an
essay, or even think, we are likely to employ the use of voice inside our minds. It could be our
own, a friend, a favorite actor s voice, or for some people, all of them combined. Another factor
we typically associate to a voice is an image. While subtle, image plays an amazingly crucial role
in how we are to appear to our audience. No one would want to pay for expensive tickets to see
an artist live with otherwise lackluster cadence. Individuals also, probably, might not vote for a
candidate if they were to use their voice to spread oppressive, immoral, or even awkward and
unprofessional values; it would affect their public image. In this essay, we will analyze how our
legitimacy (public image; authority) effect how our voices, and ideas, are heard. In all four cited
monologues, each of the narrators has some pre conceived notion of how they want to be viewed
and heard among their audience. In The Candidate , Bill Peduto stresses the importance of his voice
and all the variables that play into how he utilizes it. Elaborating further, Peduto paints a stressful
picture of the responsibilities and burdens of running for public office, as Peduto states, When you

The Little Boy Bombs That Ended World War II
There are many factors that ended World War II; However, The bombs and the ship that dropped
them were some of the most important. These bombs were known as the Fat Man and Little Boy,
and the ship was the Boeing B 29 Superfortress Enola Gay.
The first bomb dropped in World War II was the Little Boy. The Little Boy bomb was a gun type
device, whose critical mass was achieved when a uranium projectile was fired into a uranium
target through a barrel. Both were in a subcritical state. The resulting uranium mass was
composed of both the projectile and the target going from a subcritical state to a critical state
which, in turn, caused the chain reaction to begin. The Little Boy bomb weighed nine thousand
seven hundred pounds with a length of ten feet and a diameter of twenty eight inches. The fuel
used for the bomb was made up of highly enriched uranium. The fuel was approximately one
hundred forty pounds. The target case, barrel, uranium projectile, and the other main parts of the
Little Boy bomb were transported to Tinian Island via the USS Indianapolis. The efficiency of
this bomb was destitute. Roughly 1.38% of the uranium fuel had actually fissioned in the bomb.
The explosive force of the Little Boy was equal to that of fifteen thousand tons of TNT. The use
of the Little Boy bomb was to be dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945.
The delivery of the bomb was by the B 29 Enola Gay which was piloted by Colonel Paul Tibbets (

In 1954 This Is When Vietnam Was Divided Into Two States
In 1954 this is when Vietnam was divided into two states known as the, communist North Vietnam
and non communist South Vietnam. When Vietnamese communists began attacking South
Vietnam, the United States sent out their troops to support and help. Over five hundred thousand
United States troops were fighting in care of South Vietnam. Ultimately, many Americans soon
came to believe that the US troops should be withdrawn from the Vietnam war. It became one of the
most conflict ridden and ostracized causes in U.S. history. In 1973, a break in fighting agreement
with North Vietnam was signed and U.S. forces withdrew. Just two years later, Vietnam was
brought together under communist power.

The United States maintained the new leader Ngo Dinh Diem when he took control in South

The United States had been sending support to South Vietnam and facilitated them to create the

from taking over. Regardless of American financial aid, the South Vietnam was still being
overpowered and were in need of grave involvement from the U.S. The United States dreaded that
if one of the Southeast Asian nations fell to communism, that all others would sooner or later

How do you think the family is feeling about this incident?
I think that Bob s family will also go through some of the stages of the grieving process. I think that
they would go through shock, denial, anger, guilt, and acceptance. Furthermore, I think they would
also have some fear.
Bob s family may have some shock and disbelief that he was involved in an accident. This may be
due to the fact that Bob has had so many years of experience driving and also teaching people to
drive safely. Furthermore, they may be surprised that he injured someone else. They will be happy
that Bob did not injury himself though.
Secondly. I think that they would be in denial of the whole situation. I feel that they may think that
their father could not have possibly been involved or at fault of the accident. This would be due to
the fact of Bob s experience and the trust that the family has in their loved one.
They family may also have some anger and frustration built up. They may be angered and
frustrated after looking at the police report that it was actually Bob s fault in the accident. They
may be frustrated that Bob did not admit that the accident was his fault. Furthermore, they may

Family Planning And Poverty
The mainstreaming of the family planning agenda in many countries over the decades has been
accompanied by increased researcher interest in the subject, with a lot of research attention being
focused on the link between family planning and poverty. Empirical research studies using standard
economic models have demonstrated that increased access to familyplanning services is associated
with lower rates of poverty. This effect has been posited as occurring through a number of channels.
The first channel is the family size channel. As per this channel, increased access to family planning
reduces the number of children per family, which results into parents devoting more time and
resources per child, and occasioning higher per child investment that should lead to material
decline in household poverty (Bailey, Malkova and McLaren, 2013). The second channel is the
household income channel. Here, increased access to family planning services helps to free up
more resources, which can then be invested in the improvement of the human capital of the
parents. For instance, delaying parenthood can enable the soon to be parents to pursue further
education, gain more work experience, or enroll for further job training, and thus raise their
lifetime earnings levels (Bailey, Malkova and Norling, 2014). For instance, Bailey, Hershbein, and
Miller (2012) demonstrated that women who had access to the pill were able to delay motherhood
and to invest in their careers, resulting in higher wage

After finishing An Unmarried Woman, Mazursky had begun to delve deeper into the love
connections that people make on a day to day basis, in particular, with Moscow on the Hudson, he

one of his later films that was ill conceived and seemingly unfinished, not yet thought through ,

to the US and live within the diverse universe of New York City. The picture had earned Mazursky

Mary Barton by Elizabeth Gaskell
Through attention to detail, repeated comparison, shifting tone, and dialogue that gives the
characters an opportunity to voice their feelings, Elizabeth Gaskell creates a divide between the
poor working class and the rich higher class in Mary Barton. Gaskell places emphasis on the
differences that separate both classes by describing the lavish, comfortable, and extravagant life that
the wealthy enjoy and compares it to the impoverished and miserable life that the poor have to
survive through. Though Gaskell displays the inequality that is present between both social classes,
she also shows that there are similarities between them. The tone and diction change halfway
through the novel to highlight the factors that unify the poor and... Show more content on

Earlier in the story, Mary s mother dies and the event leaves her and her father devastated. The
scene of Mary Barton s death is compared with the scene of Harry Carson s death to show that
even if it may appear that the upper class lives without any worries, fears, and feelings of sadness
and despair, they like the poor go through times of trial and hardships. Mr. Barton went
mechanically and sat down on the first chair and sat on, like a stock or a stone, so rigid, so still
(21) As with Davenport, Gaskell likens Mr. Barton to a mechanical machine and compares him
to a rock to place emphasis on his emotions that have hardened due to grief. Sophy has a similar
reaction to Mr. Barton when she hears of the death of her brother. Gaskell writes that Sophy
went mechanically to the dining room door (206). The mechanical way in which Sophy is
described captures her in a moment where she is devoid of feeling because she is unable to fully
process the death of her brother. The repeated use of the word mechanical places emphasis on
the quiet stillness present in both scenes, as well as the absence of life. Mary s shriller sobs and
terrified cries (22) mirror Mrs. Carson s hysterical cries (209) that inspire sympathy in the reader
when earlier in the story the reader is made to see her as being aloof and indifferent towards the
suffering of the poor because while she happily left the store with a handful of groceries, John
Barton could only watch on as his son died of

Guantanamo Bay and Human Rights Violations by the United...
IntroductionGuantanamo Bay, Cuba is originally a naval base that was once used to house
detention facilities for Haitian and Cuban refugees fleeing to the United States. It was also used as
a refueling station for Navy ships. It was then converted into a high level detention facility to
house enemy troops captured in the War on Terror campaign by Secretary of Defense, Donald
Rumsfield. It has three main camps that house the prisoners. These prisoners of war were later
referred to as enemy combatants. They were excluded from the prisoner of war statutes of the
Geneva Convention because of their involvement in a foreign terrorist organization and therefore
earning themselves the title of terrorists. The Guantanamo Bay Detention Center served as the
perfect location to send these terrorists. It allowed the United States to strip them of any due
process or protection that is provided by US law. Due to its location, being in foreign territory they
are only subjected to military law. They are close enough for them to be monitored without
interference of intentional agencies or international oversight. Furthermore, the US Government is
holding these men without due process because they are deemed too dangerous to be released into
the public because of their associations with terrorist organizations and possession of valuable
information relating to National Security such as location of key members of a terrorist groups,

The Importance Of Reading And Writing For Writing
The Importance of Reading and Writing How important is reading and writing to you? Do you
despise reading, and believe that reading, and writing is useless tasks that we do not need to
learn? Literature is not math, it is extremely important to learn, even if you do not go into a field
where English is required. We use reading and writingevery day. In this essay I will explain why I
believe that literature is important. I will give personal examples about why I think that reading and
writing are important.
We have used written languagefrom the beginning of time. Our ancestors from a long time ago
left us written records, symbolism, and pictures to tell us a story about their lives. A lot of these
languages I personally cannot read but they are just as important as our language is now. If they did
not leave these records we probably would not be as successful of a country as we are today.
Books are incredibly important. Without books we would be a lot less intelligent than we are.
Books give us knowledge that we could not have gotten any other way. When I was little my
great grandpa used to tell me stories about when he was a teenager. He died when I as still in
elementary, and soon after he died I had forgotten most of his stories. When I would ask my
mom to tell me grandpas stories she never would get the facts right. One day when I was looking
through some old pictures I found a few pages form m grandpas journal. I read about how he used
to train horses and about his

American film industry. The directors who made the most impact during this time period were
no other than Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, John Milius, Brian De Palma, Steven
Spielberg, Paul Schrader. Now will we only look into these three directors Francis Ford Coppola,
George Lucas and also the great Steven Spielberg. All of these directors have created some of the

The films he created allowed the new generation of movie goers to have their own movie, that
everyone could relate too. Tying into the backbone of the American New Wave movement which
was the realism within the films. The editing use within Star Wars was uncommon for films to
incorporate the use of computers models, the use of the computer aided effects started to effect
other films in the making, allowing them to add more to the story and attract the new age of the
audience. Also lets take into account that Lucas was not only a one film director, he also had created
the Indiana Jones series, another blockbuster film. Some on the trademarks used by Lucas in
Star Wars and Indiana Jones are still used today within other films, some examples of Lucas s
trademarks are his use of battle scenes by a large pit, visual effects, and also the use of soft edge
wipes as transitions. In addition, everything Lucas was doing was to get the new generation of
movie attenders to come and see the new film in the theaters. As a parallel too today, movies are
coming out every week, each one different from the other, but if you look closely at each of the
movies the use of visual effects within the movies have stayed the same, from having half of New
York always destroyed or from having more

Evolution Of The 1920s
The 1920 s were a time of change. New ideas were becoming more readily experimented with and
even accepted by large portions of the population. Some of these included jazz music and the
fight against the alcoholic prohibition. The radical idea I will focus on in this paper, however, is
Evolution. It is a theory that had been around for over half a century before the 20 s but had only
more recently caught on in the US. It contradicted the Christian theory of Divine Creation as
described in the Bible. This caused many religious fundamentalists to fight against it. They took
their battle to the law books, and they were challenged by pro evolution modernists in the Scopes
Monkey Trial of 1925.
The theory of Evolution was developed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) was on the forefront of the challenge against the
Butler Act. The ACLU is a non profit organization founded in 1920 whose stated mission is to
defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country
by the Constitution and laws of the United States. It posted an announcement in a Tennessee
newspaper saying that it would offer its services to anyone willing to challenge the anti
evolution statute. John T. Scopes accepted the offer, after townspeople like George Rappleyea
argued that a trial would bring publicity to the small town of Dayton. Scopes was a 24 year old
science teacher and coach of the local high school football team. He was indicted by a grand jury
for violating the Butler Law on May 25, 1925 and the stage was set for Case Number 5232, Scopes
v. State.
The main player for the prosecution was William Jennings Bryan, a three time presidential nominee
and former Secretary of State. He was a devout Christian, a prohibitionist, and fighter of evolution.
In a way, Bryan embodied the traditional way of life that many fought to keep during the twenties.
For the defense, there was Clarence Darrow, an agnostic lawyer who was famous for defending the
underdog in a trial. He, in a way, represented

  • 2. Little Women During The American Civil War Families whether they are big or small have different social norms and interact with each other very differently. Some families are very open with each other, while others are very closed. A change within a family unit has an effect on the family s dynamic and how the family members interact with each other. American culture reflects this in the belief that families are changed either positively or negatively by major emotional events. The family unit can be described in many different ways. Sometimes the family unit, like in Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, consists of everyone that is blood related. The family unit can also extend past genetic barriers and represent big groups such as everyone in the United States of America. The family unit is not exclusive of a specific classification of the members. In Little Women, the March family had to adjust due to emotional events in their family during the American Civil War period. Little Women is a novel set in the early 1860s about a family, which consists of Mr. and Mrs. March, and their four daughters, Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth. Jo, the second oldest child, is the protagonist in the book. She does not like change and during the book her world changes beyond her control. Early in the book all four sisters, even though they were not all the same age, were open to each other and told each other everything. Their father was away fighting in the Civil War. America was experiencing troubles and went into war, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Chinese Buddhism Buddhism traveled from India through the Silk Road and Central Asia to northern China in the first century C.E. At that time the Chinese believed in Confucian values also known as the Chinese values. The conflict between these values continued through many ruling Chinese dynasties. There were inherent differences between the Buddhist beliefs and practices and traditional Confucius beliefs practiced by the Chinese. These differences are captured in the three sources which are collection of many biographies. The first source is a collection of sixty five biographies of Buddhist nuns. This covers the period between fourth and sixth centuries. This passage deals with the lives of nuns. It is a story of Lingshou who was a young and intelligent woman. ... The spread of Buddhism lead to exhaustion of resources of the Empire from 317 C.E through 557 C.E. Gigantic temples and monasteries were like Imperial palaces. Huge amounts of money instead of going into farming and business went into building temples and monasteries. Taizong the Imperial ancestor who ruled during the period 626 649 C.E built the Middle Kingdom by governing his kingdom his accomplished learning and culture. He believed in the power of state but he tried to balance both Buddhism and Chinese values. Zhenguan and Gaiyuan, later instituted radical changes. The Buddhist enjoyed many privileges; they did not pay taxes and were treated differently, which was detrimental to state. These values were at variance with the Confucius values of general applicability of rules to all people within the state. By confiscating land occupied by temples and monasteries and by bringing the monks into the mainstream of the state a healthy balance was achieved which ended the extremes of the first two ... • 5. Functional Model Of Rehabilitation At the mention of rehabilitation, images of physical therapy, addiction withdrawal, and even prisons flow through my head. In our modern time, rehabilitation exists with a good connotation, expressing the idea of renewal or resetting to what is deemed normal or natural to our society. Merriam Webster describes rehabilitation as the process of restoring an individual to a useful and productive place in society through some form of vocational, correctional, or therapeutic retraining. Perhaps it s a reaction to the Functional Model, in which society would view criminals, addicts, and handicaps as irrelevant to the general progression of the economy. The idea that they need to be restored to normal as closely as possible contains an undertone... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... N.p., n.d. Web. 05 Sept. 2016). In addition, the idea of rehabilitating addictive behaviour has existed since the beginning of the 19th century temperance movement. It gave rise to our modern notion of addiction and the duty of our society to alleviate the struggles of the addicts. This rehabilitation of addicts would eliminate or obstruct the social decay which was believed to be a result of indulging in a spirituous beverage. Here , a socio political model of disability reveals itself as the addicts represent the minority group , but not only do they recognize themselves as part of the group, society recognizes the group as a catalyst to social decay and produces rehabilitation as a cure for the problem. Although rehabilitation has some selfish undertones represented by the sociopolitical and Functional models, it aims for the care and restoration of the ill(mentally, emotionally, or physically) to a more comfortable and healthier ... A period can also be of one month in which it is easier to compare the real expenses against the planned expenses. A committee of budgeting formed by several members of the organization executives watch the process of the preparation of the budgeting. • 7. The Importance Of Censorship In College Education The United States, the land of the free, prides itself in the rights given to its people. Despite the acclaimed freedom of America, Americans, especially college students, are not as free as the founding fathers would have hoped. When the First Amendment was adopted on December 15, 1791, Americans were given the Freedom of Religion, Speech, the Press, Assembly, and Petition. While the Constitution clearly grants these rights to all U.S. citizens, individuals still fight for these freedoms. Specifically, the Freedom of Speechis an ongoing issue which people continue to pursue. This freedom is essential to student growth in higher education, yet collegestudents are often limited by what they can say while on campus. The censorship of individual and group speech threatens the purpose of a liberal education. It also limits the freedoms of a free society. Students should be encouraged to voice their individual feelings and views on worldly issues, instead of being shunned and threatened for doing so. The purpose of a liberal education is to not only to educate individuals but also to introduce them to the different cultures and beliefs of the students they sit beside during class. Exposure to the views of others allows students to expand their own knowledge on current issues, individual rights, cultural differences, and more. An important part of one s education is to grow spiritually, individually, and culturally, as well as intellectually. One must note that the experiences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the Living to 100 Life Expectancy Calculator, I am predicted to live to 93 years old. A 2015 National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine report said men born in 1930 could expect to reach about age 82 if their income put them in the top 20 percent of earners and they survived to age 50. And high earners born in 1960 are projected to live to 89 a sizable seven year gain in three decades (Henricks, 2018, para 9). Marital status can also play a part in determining longevity. In order to learn more about Brazilian culture up close, I had a chance to visit Histories: Contemporary Art from Brazil and Sandra Cinto: Chance and Necessity which is located at USF Contemporary Art Museum. The museum has some artworks done by an Brazilian artists whose approaches address the varied histories of Brazil, some collective, some individual, but all rooted in reflections on the country s complicated past and present, and vast geographical, racial, and cultural wealth and diversity. Moreover, I really consider Carla as inspirational artist because her work makes you think differently about Brazil, how it is created and how it has a lot of races mixed with one culture and one nation. In addition, I liked how they presented their traditional culture by simple works as Lugar para um corpo ( Place for a Body) which is done by Sonia Gomes, this artwork shows us how they are simple and very naturel. On the other hand, I ve been looking forward to diversity of the artworks to learn more broadly about Brazil such as education, trade and the history of art in Brazil. Antonio and Felix, two seventeen year old boys, have grown up together and are very close to one another. They do almost everything together. They both dream of a future in which they will be the lightweight champions of the world, and together they help each other train regularly. Then a time comes when their friendship is threatened because for the first time ever, they have to compete against one another in a match. The fight becomes so violent that the referee has to pull them apart. After cold water is poured on both of them, they start to come back to reality. When they realize what has happened to them, they rush toward each other and hug. Afterwards, the bell rings to announce the winner of the fight, but when the announcer looks around to identify the victor, no one is there. The boys leave the ring arm in arm. The reason they leave is that they realize that winning is not what is most important to them. What they really care about is their friendship. Piri finalizes his theme through the ultimate actions of the boys. In conclusion, the boys choice to leave ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Reflection Paper On Powerlifting Moment Powerlifting Progression After enduring months of intense conditioning, the time came for us to see if our work paid off. It was testing week for varsity football and bench press day had arrived. I maxed out at 335 pounds at the beginning of the year and I was looking to make some gains. I did my dynamic warm up and static stretches and hit a few reps of 300 pounds to stimulate blood flow. Routinely reaching for my weightlifting belt, I arrived at a dilemma. The belt evidently grew a conscience of its own and decided not to function. Presented with a chance to test the nature of my raw muscle, I had to visualize lifting 365 pounds without the aid of a weightlifting belt. I sat down and performed my normal pre lift rituals to gain composure. Gradually lying backward, I grasped the bar as I adjusted my back to the bench. With a deep breath, I un racked the bar and claimed the strongest bench press in the history of the school. This record, however, was not the only accolade I acquired from powerlifting. As a powerlifter, I am continuously prompted to assess my physical condition at any given time. This awareness is very crucial because it has helped me balance the degree that I increase the intensity of my workout to get stronger with the appropriate recovery time that allows my muscles to recuperate. As the complexity of my workout progresses, my overall physical development follows suit. Knowing that advancement in the weight room is enhanced through awareness, I greatly utilize this understanding of growth when considering my intellectual progression. If I want to become stronger in a particular lift, I start by highlighting details in individual segments of that lift that can be improved. I make similar observations in regards to my intellectual state; for example, stability exists as the foundation of my outlook on the world. From the atmosphere of my upbringing as a homeschool student, to my pastimes as a powerlifter and critical thinker, stability gives meaning to many properties that comprise my character. Being the third of eight children, most of the things I do have already been done before at least once in my family. The major difference between Nietzsche and Buddhism, however, lies in the role of the will in nihilism and its overcoming. For the Buddha, only by cutting the root of the fundamental will altogether, through the self overcoming of the will to power, one can step beyond nihilism. This states that there seems to be not much trust in the college students and that they will probably not act as responsible as they should with a deadly weapon in their possession. If the students are trusted to carry a gun, then they should be responsible with that gun in hand. Other factors also come into play when considering whether students should be allowed to carry guns, such as drugs or alcohol could play a role in how students act. Vore once said, A lot of folks think they re just going to carry a gun ... and just going to pop their head up and confront the shooter and shoot them (Hulsey). Harvard Business Review s Fixing Health Care From Inside Out was a unique collection of examples on how all members of a health system, both clinical and administrative, make a huge different on operations. This compilation not only provided exceptionally informative articles, but also many charts, graphs, and other depictions to back up the points the contributors were making. Many of the remarks in these articles seemed to be simple fixes or strategies that do not seem that hard to implement, but in reality they are so challenging because making changes can be a big deal for any organization. All ten of the articles offered a distinct perspective and innovative ideas that future healthcare leaders such as myself could use moving forward. Some of the key points highlighted were to implement changes on smaller scales first and then go larger, to tackle issues as they come up and not put them off for the future, and also the importance of all staff working together as a team rather than in pursuit of individual goals. Community Relations 2.0 by Gerald C. Kane, Robert G. Fichman, John Gallaugher, and John Glaser was the article that I found to be the most interesting and applicable to current events in health care. They discussed how the internet and social media affect changes and ways that administration in health care systems can combat issues that arise online. It also discussed some of the positives of contemporary technologies and how crucial it is to have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

E mail is a good way to communicate long distances for free. Like postal mail, people can receive junk mail electronically. This has always burned me. Dr. Williams claims that this exemplifies the government owning our rights and choices, and using laws to make choices for us where as our rights should apply. From a rightful stand point, his argument of this could be considered applicable. However, the government?s stated agenda is to constantly protect the citizens of the state via laws, rules, and social standards. One can argue that rights are being infringed on, but the government has factually shown that deaths have decreased in auto accidents, and therefore they succeed in protecting the state. For example, the increase in seat belt usage has caused a 14 percent reduction in serious and fatal accidents in the state of North Carolina (Success Stories 1999). Apparently, the placement of seat belt restrictions has allowed the safety of citizens to continue. Beyond the safety benefit, this has allowed the lowering of insurance premiums and savings of health care related costs (Success Stories 1999). Dr. Walter E. The Belgians and opposing political parties propagated the rumors of Lumumba s communist tendencies, vilifying Lumumba. As Lumumba later found out, this was an unfortunate resemblance to bear in the free world. Bearing the alleged connection to communism, Lumumba had to complete the difficult task of unifying a vast landscape with many diverse ethnicities, languages, and political interests. The province of Katanga posed the greatest threat to Lumumba in this respect. Katanga was extremely important as it was the most wealthy and lucrative province in Congo, making it paramount to a successful Congolese nation. Unfortunately for Congo, Moise Tshombe, the leader of Katanga, did not see eye to eye with Lumumba. United States is the case involving a young American born and raised woman of Japanese heritage, who was taken advantage of by the U.S. and Japanese government and a mythical siren blamed for the discouragement of U.S. Troops during World War II. Iva Toguri was born on July 4th, 1916 in Los Angeles, California. She left the U.S.A. for Japan to further her study in medicine and take care of her ill aunt not long after graduating from UCLA. Once healthy, Iva Toguri s aunt turned her out on her own, claiming it was too expensive to feed her. Forced to find a job rather quickly, she picked up a job as a local radio station broadcaster. While working that job, Toguri married a Portuguese citizen, Felipe D Aquino and denied many offers by family and friends to become a Japanese or Portuguese citizen. However, when she attempted to return to America, she was told there was no proof of her citizenship and was required to stay in Japan. • 44. Use Of Voice Inside Our Minds There are many ways of self expression. We may express ourselves through music, written and oral interpretation, our political affiliation, and lastly, our voice. Though we may not realize it, we are under the constant influence of the power of voice. Whenever we read an article, type an essay, or even think, we are likely to employ the use of voice inside our minds. It could be our own, a friend, a favorite actor s voice, or for some people, all of them combined. Another factor we typically associate to a voice is an image. While subtle, image plays an amazingly crucial role in how we are to appear to our audience. No one would want to pay for expensive tickets to see an artist live with otherwise lackluster cadence. Individuals also, probably, might not vote for a candidate if they were to use their voice to spread oppressive, immoral, or even awkward and unprofessional values; it would affect their public image. In this essay, we will analyze how our legitimacy (public image; authority) effect how our voices, and ideas, are heard. In all four cited monologues, each of the narrators has some pre conceived notion of how they want to be viewed and heard among their audience. In The Candidate , Bill Peduto stresses the importance of his voice and all the variables that play into how he utilizes it. • 48. Family Planning And Poverty The mainstreaming of the family planning agenda in many countries over the decades has been accompanied by increased researcher interest in the subject, with a lot of research attention being focused on the link between family planning and poverty. Empirical research studies using standard economic models have demonstrated that increased access to familyplanning services is associated with lower rates of poverty. This effect has been posited as occurring through a number of channels. The first channel is the family size channel. As per this channel, increased access to family planning reduces the number of children per family, which results into parents devoting more time and resources per child, and occasioning higher per child investment that should lead to material decline in household poverty (Bailey, Malkova and McLaren, 2013). The second channel is the household income channel. Here, increased access to family planning services helps to free up more resources, which can then be invested in the improvement of the human capital of the parents. For instance, delaying parenthood can enable the soon to be parents to pursue further education, gain more work experience, or enroll for further job training, and thus raise their lifetime earnings levels (Bailey, Malkova and Norling, 2014). For instance, Bailey, Hershbein, and Miller (2012) demonstrated that women who had access to the pill were able to delay motherhood and to invest in their careers, resulting in higher wage ... Mr. Barton went mechanically and sat down on the first chair and sat on, like a stock or a stone, so rigid, so still (21) As with Davenport, Gaskell likens Mr. Barton to a mechanical machine and compares him to a rock to place emphasis on his emotions that have hardened due to grief. Sophy has a similar reaction to Mr. Barton when she hears of the death of her brother. Gaskell writes that Sophy went mechanically to the dining room door (206). The mechanical way in which Sophy is described captures her in a moment where she is devoid of feeling because she is unable to fully process the death of her brother. IntroductionGuantanamo Bay, Cuba is originally a naval base that was once used to house detention facilities for Haitian and Cuban refugees fleeing to the United States. It was also used as a refueling station for Navy ships. It was then converted into a high level detention facility to house enemy troops captured in the War on Terror campaign by Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfield. It has three main camps that house the prisoners. These prisoners of war were later referred to as enemy combatants. They were excluded from the prisoner of war statutes of the Geneva Convention because of their involvement in a foreign terrorist organization and therefore earning themselves the title of terrorists. The Guantanamo Bay Detention Center served as the perfect location to send these terrorists. It allowed the United States to strip them of any due process or protection that is provided by US law. Due to its location, being in foreign territory they are only subjected to military law. • 52. The Importance Of Reading And Writing For Writing The Importance of Reading and Writing How important is reading and writing to you? Do you despise reading, and believe that reading, and writing is useless tasks that we do not need to learn? Literature is not math, it is extremely important to learn, even if you do not go into a field where English is required. We use reading and writingevery day. In this essay I will explain why I believe that literature is important. I will give personal examples about why I think that reading and writing are important. We have used written languagefrom the beginning of time. Our ancestors from a long time ago left us written records, symbolism, and pictures to tell us a story about their lives. A lot of these languages I personally cannot read but they are just as important as our language is now. If they did not leave these records we probably would not be as successful of a country as we are today. Books are incredibly important. Without books we would be a lot less intelligent than we are. Books give us knowledge that we could not have gotten any other way. When I was little my great grandpa used to tell me stories about when he was a teenager. He died when I as still in elementary, and soon after he died I had forgotten most of his stories. When I would ask my mom to tell me grandpas stories she never would get the facts right. One day when I was looking through some old pictures I found a few pages form m grandpas journal. I read about how he used to train horses and about his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The films he created allowed the new generation of movie goers to have their own movie, that everyone could relate too. Tying into the backbone of the American New Wave movement which was the realism within the films. The editing use within Star Wars was uncommon for films to incorporate the use of computers models, the use of the computer aided effects started to effect other films in the making, allowing them to add more to the story and attract the new age of the audience. Also lets take into account that Lucas was not only a one film director, he also had created the Indiana Jones series, another blockbuster film. Some on the trademarks used by Lucas in Star Wars and Indiana Jones are still used today within other films, some examples of Lucas s trademarks are his use of battle scenes by a large pit, visual effects, and also the use of soft edge wipes as transitions. In addition, everything Lucas was doing was to get the new generation of movie attenders to come and see the new film in the theaters. As a parallel too today, movies are coming out every week, each one different from the other, but if you look closely at each of the movies the use of visual effects within the movies have stayed the same, from having half of New York always destroyed or from having more ... • 54. Evolution Of The 1920s The 1920 s were a time of change. New ideas were becoming more readily experimented with and even accepted by large portions of the population. Some of these included jazz music and the fight against the alcoholic prohibition. The radical idea I will focus on in this paper, however, is Evolution. It is a theory that had been around for over half a century before the 20 s but had only more recently caught on in the US. It contradicted the Christian theory of Divine Creation as described in the Bible. This caused many religious fundamentalists to fight against it. They took their battle to the law books, and they were challenged by pro evolution modernists in the Scopes Monkey Trial of 1925. The theory of Evolution was developed by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) was on the forefront of the challenge against the Butler Act. The ACLU is a non profit organization founded in 1920 whose stated mission is to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States. It posted an announcement in a Tennessee newspaper saying that it would offer its services to anyone willing to challenge the anti evolution statute. John T. Scopes accepted the offer, after townspeople like George Rappleyea argued that a trial would bring publicity to the small town of Dayton. Scopes was a 24 year old science teacher and coach of the local high school football team. He was indicted by a grand jury for violating the Butler Law on May 25, 1925 and the stage was set for Case Number 5232, Scopes v. State. The main player for the prosecution was William Jennings Bryan, a three time presidential nominee and former Secretary of State. He was a devout Christian, a prohibitionist, and fighter of evolution. In a way, Bryan embodied the traditional way of life that many fought to keep during the twenties. For the defense, there was Clarence Darrow, an agnostic lawyer who was famous for defending the underdog in a trial. He, in a way, represented ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
