4. Bihar Potato Campaign

Bihar Potato Campaign was launched by Dhanuka Agritech Limited
to create awareness among the Potato Farmers for the “BLACK
LEG” disease. It started off from 22nd December till 5th February.
Potato is the fourth major food crop after rice, wheat and maize in
Bihar. It occupies less than 5% of net sown area with production
only 4th after rice, wheat and maize.

Conika is a new combination product which has the power of fungicide and bactericide
together to prevent the Bacterio-fungal complex formation in multiple crops. Its dual mode
of action makes it an effective and powerful tool to prevent crops from fungal and bacterial
diseases. Its timely application gives farmers a disease free healthy crop with super quality
produce
MODE OF ACTION
It’s a contact and systemic fungicide which interferes with the enzyme system of spores
and mycelium and it inhibits the protein bio-synthesis.

6. MYCORe

MYCORe is an Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) having endo mycorrhizal spores in
granular formulation. It enhances surface area of roots and facilitates increased absorption
of soil nutrients (Phosphorus, Nitrogen, Zinc, Calcium, Magnesium etc.) and water,
ultimately helps the crop to be vigorous, to be resistant against physical and biological
stress. Eventually increases the yield and productivity of the crop.
MODE OF ACTION
MYCORe on application on the crop root zone, endo spores germinate on the root surface
and invades the crop root by establishing symbiotic relationship. Through mycelium it gets
connected to the crop roots for better root and soil establishment.

7. In the duration of 45, I have been allotted several
villages in Begusarai, to spread awareness for
the target products of Dhanuka Agritech Limited –
CONIKA & MYCORe. The target for the day was
to meet Farmers individually and explain them
the benefits of target products and even
recommend other products if needed.

8. Farmer Meetings

Everyday or In two days, I conducted a farmer meeting of a
group of farmers either in their fields, residential places, or
wherever I get the chance to make the awareness reach to
maximum possible. Through small meetings, the farmers
were able to clarify their doubts in a more efficient manner
than the individual meets.
The Meetings were conducted in almost every village I
visited and collected positive response from maximum
places. In some villages like Kastoli, chiranjeevipur, some
farmers have already use Conika for their Vegetable crop.
So, it became quite easy to aware those groups.
In such meetings, farmers also Inquired for Other crops
also, so I provided the optimum solution by consulting my
reporting officer – Manish Sir and Dhanuka Doctor – Ajay

9. Live Demonstrations

For proper explanation of the problem, I also demonstrated
the farmers live on their field that how black leg virus affects
their crop. Prakash Sir, taught me how to demonstrate the
disease to the farmers, on the first day of my Internship.
The farmers were able to connect quite efficiently when they
were demonstrated and could understand the In-Depth
problem of Black leg in Potato.
Through Live Demonstrations, I made them understand the
efficient ways to control it by Spraying CONIKA in their field
before or once the disease attacked their field.
Demonstrations also worked in making them feel the
importance of MYCORe, for enhancing their plant root
absorption capacity and resistance to disease

Demo session is a great marketing strategy and a way to find out the compatibility of the product in the natural environment. I have
conducted demo’s in 5 different villages and have continuous monitored with the fields with in the presence of the farmer and Dhanuka
Doctor – Ajay (Mansoorchak Region). The response of the product on black leg is appreciable and completely sticks to its claims.
11. Demo Field Meeting

In the Presence of my reporting officer – Manish Singh sir
and Dhanuka Doctor – Ajay (Mansoorchak
Region). We have conducted meeting in the demo fields
with the field owner and other farmers of that area to better
understand the action of the product in the natural
environment and make the farmers see the visible
difference between CONIKA and Other products.
In the meeting Manish sir and Ajay sir, explained the
benefits of CONIKA and MYCORe thoroughly, and also
provided information about other Dhanuka products to the
farmers.
RESULT
The results we got were appreciable for the Black leg
disease but the product was not suitable for Late blight of
Potato
12. Retailers Interaction

I have also interacted with many Retailer in my region and
gain insightful information about the farmers in their locality.
They provide information the farmers consumer behaviour
and pattern of buying the product.
Majority of the farmers trust the retailer and take whatever
product the retailer offers them and they are predominately
farmers with less land holdings. While in the case of farmers
with large land holdings go for the products they wanted and
rarely get influenced by the retailer.
According the Retailer, Some farmers are already using
CONIKA for vegetable crops. They also stated that the
Biggest competitor of Dhanuka in their region for potato is
INDOFILL which captures the majority of the market, through
their excellent marketing and advertising strategy.
13. Findings

The farmers found CONIKA more costly as compared to its other substitute product like
Dhanuka M-45 and Indofill M-45
The farmers In this region had been using M-45 since very long time as it has Cost effective and
proven good result against several potato diseases. So, its difficult to break the consumer
loyalty.
INDOFILL has strong market presence in this region and it is the biggest competitor for
Dhanuka in this region
Farmers rely on results more as compared to promises. So, Demo sessions are quite effective
to capture market in this region.
Farmers were interested in MYCORe but want demo session to see its result and Understand
how it works.
Farmers Feedback: The result is quite appreciable for Black leg disease, but the result are
quite Insignificant for other disease of potato. Kirari is not showing the significant result as it
claims
14. Suggestions

Dhanuka should spend on ground level marketing through the help of banners, posters and
various others means because the competitors are spending high amount of money in marketing
and customer relationship development.
A product on the formulation of Streptocycline should be developed by Dhanuka, this will
increase it sales of Dhanuka M-45 as like to like combination.
A farmers training programme should be started on the grassroot level to gain more audience
which will eventually increase the company base
The Pricing of the product should be done considering the income level of the farmers and
should target especially the farmers with low income level to gain more audience.
More and more Product Demo’s should for the target product is the best means to market the
product followed by a farmers meeting in the field.so, that farmers can see the significant
difference.
