Foucault
Foucault s theorisation of the power/knowledge relationship
Foucault in theorizing the relationship between power and knowledge basically focused on how power
operated in the institutions and in its techniques. The point is how power was supported by knowledge
in the functioning of institutions of punishment. He places the body at the centre of the struggles
between different formations of power/knowledge. The techniques of regulation are applied to the
body (Wheterell et al., 2001: 78)
Power is the ability to control others or one s entity. Accordingly it can be defined as a kind of strength
or as an authority. There are various theorisations about the meaning of this term in sociology thus it
would be hard to give a comprehensive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When plague turned up the old system followed the then methods of observation and surveillance,
plague was everywhere thus the supporting power must have been mobilized. In this case power is
mobilized; it makes itself everywhere present and visible; it invents new mechanism; it separates; it
immobilizes etc. to make people act as it was expected in these conditions (because of the plague
almost every interactions must have been stopped in the interest of getting rid of the disease).
(Foucault, 1975) The Panopticon instead of exercising power from several sides emphasises the
importance and perfection of the surveillance focus from one place.
The Panopticon is a building which has an annual part in the periphery and a tower in the centre. Next
to omitting little details its most important feature is the ability to see into every cells without being
visible. The panoptic mechanism arranges spatial unities that make it possible to see constantly and to
recognize immediately. (Calhoun et al., 2007: 209) The consciousness of being watched make people
put on their best behaviour, their best way of acting thus the inmates do not commit any further crimes
as it usually occurs that could happen without being watched.

Gregor Mendel s Laws Of Inheritance
Gregor Mendel s Laws of Inheritance Gregor Mendel, also know as the Father of genetics, was a
monk who studied pea plants and discovered the laws of heredity. Heredity is the passing of traits
from one generation to another. There are three laws and they are known as; the law of dominance,
law of segregation, and the law of independent assortment.
The law of dominance states that the dominant alleles always show and the recessive alleles can be
hidden because of that. For example, if brown eyes are dominant in a family, their genotype would be
AA or Aa. In a heterozygous pair, like Aa, the dominant allele would appear in the phenotype because
dominant will always show even though there a

The Common Long Term Complications Of Diabetes Mellitus
One of the most common long term complications of diabetes mellitus is painful neuropathy. Diabetic
neuropathy is estimated to affect about 60 70% of all diabetes patients and can lead to foot ulcers,
amputations, and decreased quality of life. The most common form is chronic peripheral neuropathy
which results in pain and numbness in the extremities, usually described as a burning, tingling, or
steady aching pain.1 Patients may also feel increased sensitivity to pain or experience paresthesia, a
sensation of tingling, tickling, or prickling of the skin.1 According to current guidelines, intensive
glycemic control is very important for the prevention and reduction of peripheral neuropathy and other
microvascular complications.1,2 Medications used to help relieve nerve pain include duloxetine and
pregabalin (Lyrica®), which are both approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use in
diabetic neuropathy. Other drug classes commonly used are antidepressants, anticonvulsants, and
opioids.3 Although there are many medications used for this condition, pain relief is often insufficient
for patients. Treatment is difficult due to the complicated pathophysiology of pain transmission and
the wide range of mechanisms of action of drugs used to treat pain. Therefore, there is a continued
need for additional medication options for this chronic painful condition. Lacosamide is an
anticonvulsant approved for use as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy for partial onset seizures.

Chris Brown Integrity
Chris Brown is a an artist who has faced a lot of adversity in his life. Brown was born in small town
called Tappahannock ,Virginia. As a child Brown s mother had a significant other at the time that
abused his mother. At the age of 6 where he witnessed his mother being beaten by her significant
other. Brown witnessing this had an effect on him in later events in his life. In 2009 Brown got into a
physical altercation with his girlfriend Rihanna. This fight happened because of a simple argument

lead up to the self forming actions. Brown had the oppouritnity that night in the car to avoid hitting

Move and Position Individuals in Accordance with their Plan of Care
1.1 When moving and positioning individuals it is important to have a basic understanding of anatomy
and physiology to help reduce the risk of harm to yourself and others. Muscles in the body act like
levers and allow bones at a joint to move like hinges, when a muscle pulls, this moves the bone
making the body move. These muscles can only move bones at a joint as far as the joint will allow and
trying to extend joints beyond their range can cause serious damage. Nerve fibres, which send
impulses to the muscles enabling them to contract and relax can be easily damaged as a result of poor
moving and handling techniques due to their delicate structure. 1.2 ... Show more content on

It is important that you have had manual handling training, are in good health and well being to carry
out the activity and that you are wearing suitable clothing and footwear to perform moving and
handling procedures. When planning a moving and handling activity, a piece of equipment may be
required, such as a hoist, stand aid, slide sheet or walking frame. Before using any equipment you
should check that the equipment is available, clean, in good condition and in good working order. You
must also consider the person being assisted and find out if they have used the equipment before and if
any problems occurred. Only use equipment that you have been trained to use.
3.3 It is important to check the person, equipment and environment before moving and positioning
individuals to identify any possible risks. You should consider if the person is still able to cooperate
with the activity and that all equipment is clean and safe. Other things to consider could include; is the
person s footwear suitable and are there any obstacles on the floor. When positioning people who are
unable to move themselves, it is important to check their pressure areas as poor positioning techniques
can cause pressure areas to develop. 3.4 Once a risk assessment has been carried out and risks

Aboriginal Dreaming
Aboriginal people are spiritually connected to country, their sacred land in which their ancestral
beings were formed. The Dreaming is the core of Aboriginal spirituality that s embedded with

The sun had just turned but I knew I needed to keep on running and finish my jog. As the trees formed
around me, I saw something flash into the woods, I swear it was a person. Nevertheless I kept on
going at a faster pace, this place could be scary at night! Halfway down the track, the sun had just
disappeared when I heard a scream. I ran even faster knowing there was something bad going on. Just
before my eyes fell a body with a cut in the throat. I also screamed myself, then sprinted out of the
woods up the road and straight to the police office. It was closing time and the door was locked so I
banged on it furiously with my fists. Thinking back now that was probably not a smart thing to do, but
I had just seen a dead body. An old lady opened ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

woods and just before where I saw the body, I told her I was tired and turned back to go home, then
once she was out of sight I put on my mask and went to the side of the trail and followed her. Sure
enough, there was a scream and I saw one of the men with a dead body and a knife. I was sure it was
the Tom dude. I held my pistol tight, it was my most useful weapon I had and was only to be used
when needed. I was given the pistol by Tim to help me, but it was not to be seen by anyone. Tom crept

mouth with a cloth, I called Mary to help me. She had a look of shock on her face, but then realised
what was happening. Quickly she scurried to help me. Tom tried and tried to break free, but luckily
being two fitness freaks we were able to drag him out of the woods and to the police station. Mary

Leadership Structures Used By FBC Bossier City
As a Christian the best leadership structure for the body of believers we have was given to use by
Jesus Christ. He taught us how to love (God with all our heart) and who to love (thy neighbor), which
results in us being better leaders. Naturally, each church reads the same scripture but interprets it
differently and has a different leadership style as a result of that. Three church s constitutions in
particular will be the subject of discussion. I will compare and contrast the leadership structures of the
three, list positives and negatives, interpret what I see the preferred church leadership structure and
interpret what the constitution reveals about each church.
FBC Bossier City
This the only church constitution out of the three with a leadership team that is designed specifically
for handling church matters that aren t related to the spiritual oversight. This leadership structure is led
by the key figure the pastor; he has the power to ordain those. The pastor is the chief and al things go
through him if they happen in the church he is preceding over. Reading this constitution, I quickly
noticed how it had a feel as if the pastor was the C.E.O of a fortune 500 company. Some of the things
like the leadership team and the requirements of the pastor really gave the impression that this church
was being ran more than an organization, a very tight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Organizational Culture, Management Styles, And...
Abstract
This paper discusses the implications of organizational culture, management styles, and organizational
size and market demands on the organizational structure of the firm. The paper uses the case study or
Toyota Motors Corporation to evaluate how organizational structures are affected by these factors and
to make recommendations on the same.
Objectives of the study
The study seeks to understand the meaning of organizational culture and how it implicates the
structure the firm. The study will also seek to understand the effects of management styles on
company structures. Also, the study undertakes to understand the implications of market demands as
well as organizational size on the structure of the firm. It also places these ... Show more content on

Organizational culture defines how the firm responds to different market issues, how employees
perceive different situations and scenarios in the firm as well as the firm aligns it in relation to
different market forces. Organizational culture thus serves as the compass on which different decisions
are made and executed and determines the actions that will be a success in a given firm and those that
are resisted or lead to failure. The culture of an organization also includes the assumption and what the
firm view as common knowledge usually developed over time as the firm goes through different
stages to the pit that such bases become part of the firm, and define its relationships with the rest of
the world.
Organizational culture is deemed to be the most important binding factors in a firm an is the only
thing that differentiates the employees of one firm from another. The culture of any organization also
determines the power relationships between the different players of the firm, how communication and
key decision making is handled as well as how different key stakeholders relate with each other. A
culture that empowers every employee will se an organizational structure that mirrors this
empowerment, and will consequently have a structure that allows more people to take part in decision
making and value their contributions.
Organizational culture impacts performance, management and perception and has been cited as

may be heard on auscultation but are rarely heard in the emergency room and are non specific.
This contusion involves injury to alveolar capillaries, resulting in accumulation of blood and fluids

4.Quick Decision
The sole proprietor is his own boss and need not consult others while making any decision. He
exercises exclusive control over the affairs of the business. Therefore, he can take quick decision and
implement them without any delay.
5.Effective Control
In this form of organisation, the business can be controlled effectively because business activities are
planned and executed by a single man. Since all the decisions relating to purchase and sale are taken
by the soletrader, he can effectively control the business if there is any deviation from the original
plan.
6.Increase in Sales
A sole trader has direct relationship with the customers. Direct contact with the customers will enable
the proprietor to know the nature of their tastes, likes and dislikes. It enables him to make necessary
changes in the quality and design of his products. It will boost his sales besides enhancing the
reputation of the firm.
7.Inexpensive management
The sole trader is the owner, manager and controller of the business. He does not appoint specialists
for various functions. He personally supervises various activities and can avoid wastage in the
business. In this way managerial expenses are reduced to a large extent.

The Theme Of Individualism By Ralph Waldo Emerson
The theme of individualism is present in several of Ralph Waldo Emerson s works. It was also his
philosophical views on how to live life. He believed that human beings had remarkable capabilities,
more than they can possibly identify. With these capabilities a person should govern themselves, not
be governed by a society. Emerson also believed that nature played a large role in how man should act
and to follow nature s actions of growing without obstruction ( Nature ). This is why he lead the
Transcendentalism movement in the nineteenth century, along with Theodore Parker, Frederic Henry
Hedge, Amos Bronson Alcott, Margaret Fuller and Henry David Thoreau (Lewis). This philosophy
was not only significant then, it was imperative throughout times in history.
Emerson speaks of Americas ability to deviate from the norms set in Europe in one of his formal
speeches given in 1837 on August 31st in Cambridge. It was simply titled The American Scholar
(originally titled: An Oration Delivered before the Phi Beta Kappa Society, at Cambridge,
[Massachusetts,] August 31, 1837). He begins with speaking of how this gathering is distinctive and is
nothing like the ones of the past in Europe. He believes it is time to begin anew as a new country of
people. He believed that the society they were living in were only allowing them to imitate with the
majority and not allow them to be Man Thinking . (Emerson, The American Scholar ). The only way
to reflect on such a high level is to throw

2.3 Factors Affecting Accurate Demand Forecast
The operation of electricity system is strongly influenced by the accuracy of demand forecast as
economy and control of electric power system is quite sensitive to forecasting errors [44 45]. The four
important factors affecting load forecast are:
I. Weather conditions Electricity demand has a strong correlation to weather. To develop an efficient
and accurate demand forecasting model for electricity much effort has been put to find a relationship
between the weather and the demand of electricity. The change in comforts of customer due to change
in weather conditions resulting in usage of appliances likes air conditioner, space heater and water
heater. It also includes use of agricultural appliances for irrigation. The pattern of demand differs
greatly in the areas with large meteorological difference during summer and winter. Dry and wet
temperature, humidity, dew point, wind speed, wind direction, sunshine and amount of precipitation
are common weather parameters that influence electricity demand. Among the weather variables listed
above, two composite weather variable functions, the cooling degree days and heating degree days are
broadly used by utility

be sorely missed without them. The use of epithets throughout the poem allows the reader to grasp
what each of the described words is meant to convey. Symbolism in Dover Beach expands the

High Albedo Lab
Introduction
The cryosphere consists of all frozen water on earth. It is found in the high northern and southern
latitudes of the planet. The components of the cryosphere include the following: sea ice, glaciers, ice
sheets, ice shelves, snow cover, freshwater ice, and frozen groundwater. The cryosphere plays an
important role in cooling the planet. The cryosphere, being ice, has a high albedo. The accepted albedo
of ice in the cryosphere is .6 or 60%, meaning ice reflects 60% of incoming shortwave radiation. It is
important that the cryosphere has a high albedo because it helps the planet to absorb less coming
radiation, thus helping to cool the atmosphere. Surfaces such as the open ocean or asphalt roads have a
lower albedo; these surfaces absorb more incoming radiation and ... Show more content on

accepted albedos of each surface. It is very likely that the experimental albedos were lower than the
accepted albedo due to human error in measuring the incident illuminance and the reflected
illuminance. The values for incident illuminance were higher than expected. They were likely skewed
by the distance the light meter senor was held from the heat lamp. Further effort should be taken when
repeating this method so that the experimental albedo accurately represents the accepted albedo. This
can be accomplished by taking care to hold the light meter sensor at the appropriate distance from the
heat lamp. It would have been better to get multiple recordings for the incident illuminance rather than
one so the incident illuminance can more accurately represent the

A Brief Note On The Kingdom Of Bhutan
The Kingdom of Bhutan is a small country with a total area of 38, 394 square kilometres and a
population of approximately 745, 000 (Royal Government of Bhutan, 2015). Agriculture is one of the
main ways of life for the population of Bhutan, as approximately 56% of the total population is
engaged in agriculture and forestry (Royal Government of Bhutan, 2015). Even though a large portion
of the population relies on agriculture, only 12 percent of Bhutan s total land area consists of
farmlands and grazing areas because of Bhutan s diverse regions (Zurick, 2006). The majority of the
land available for agriculture is limited due to steep topography and high altitude (Gurung Seeland,
2011). The rugged mountainous terrain has elevations ranging from 160 7000 metres (Royal
Government of Bhutan, 2015). While agriculture is the primary source of income for the population of
Bhutan, a major source of revenue for the government is the export of electricity from hydropower
projects (Royal Government of Bhutan, 2015). While Bhutan is a small developing country, this has
not hindered our ambitions in climate action. Bhutan is the sole country in the world that measures
Gross National Happiness rather than Gross Domestic Product. GNH generates a more holistic
approach to development by balancing economic growth with social development, cultural
preservation, and environmental sustainability (Tobgay, 2016). However more recently, Bhutan has

The association was held liable for the damages that stemmed from the emotional distress of the
defendant. The plaintiff had caused the defendant to suffer such extreme fright that it compelled him
to either give up the Acme account he had been working in the service area and give to the State
Rubbish Collectors Association back payment or the defendant had to become a member with the
association and pay dues.
The courts ruled that the plaintiff had not right to use such coercive methods when competing for
business and the liability was clear in this circumstance. The defendant was awarded $1250.00 by the
plaintiff for compensatory damages and $4000.00 was awarded by the association for exemplary
damages. Plaintiff attempted to appeal stating the awarded amount was excessive; the courts ruled that
the amount awarded was not excessive and denied the appeal from the plaintiff. No dissenting opinion
was made.

Crown Point Descriptive Writing
I haven t always lived on Crown Point. Before that we lived on Southwell Road, in the house that was
destroyed by a tornado. I remember the day I had to say goodbye to all of my friends at Emerson
Williams School forever. The house on Crown Point is grey with black shutters and a stone front on
the bottom of the house. When we first saw the house, the flowers planted near the windows waltzed in
a gentle breeze. It looked like the perfect house for us to buy. The neighborhood I live in is very quiet
and no one drives up the long curvy roads except the people that live in these houses. My house is one
of houses that is the highest up on the mountain. That is why the name of my street is called Crown
Point. We moved because my mom and dad wanted

Compare And Contrast Senate And House
The Senate and the house both have very important committees that take care of many things for the
United States. Each committee is responsible for taking care of specific work that belongs to them. An
important and prestigious committee in the Senate that I decided to take a look into is the Judicial
committee. On the other side of things for the House of Representatives I decided to look into the
committee of Foreign Affairs. Both of these committees are not only important to their respective
house origin, but also to the American people. The Judiciary chairman, Chuck Grassley, is the one of
the most powerful and respected man throughout the entire senate. He is a republican from the state of
Iowa. When he turned into a politician he began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These departments include the FBI, homeland security, nomination for representatives, pending
legislation, etc. Within these departments the judicial committee takes charge of the drug control
policy, the United States Parole commission, the supreme court nominations, district court
nominations. This committee has one of the broadest jurisdiction of all the committees because of all
the issues that they are in charge of. For example, they have continuously discussed how to combat
crime. Senator Feinstein cosponsored a bill that has put over 114,000 additional cops in the streets of
this nation in order to help fight the crime in this nation. Another big issue that this committee faces
with is immigration reforms. For decades this nation has had different perspectives on undocumented
people that are within this country. Some people want to help them become documented workers by
offering citizenship, visas, or other methods while other people do not. This is an ongoing matter that
will continue to be talked about for many years to come not only in the Judiciary committee, but also
by the people of this country. The jurisdiction of Foreign Affairs in the House will have an oversight
on many different issues that include: foreign assistance, the peace corps, international law, promotion
in democracy, and as well as many other matters. A huge issue that they are currently facing is how to
defeat ISIS. This members within the committee have been wanting to do whatever possible to stop
the current execution of Christians and help the people who are combatting ISIS in the middle east,
but the current problem is that the commander in chief, Barack Obama, does not have a strategy to
take down the terrorist group. The Foreign Affairs committee is infuriated by how Obama is taking
care of the issue. On March 14, they had a vote that

St. Louis Piety
St. Louis has all these traits he is well educated, a strong warrior, very pious and has authority. He
comes from the nobility so he was well educated and taught to fight. His family has a long tradition of
being kings and they have a good relation with the Church. But everyone makes him out to be the
ideal king. The kind of king that everyone should aspire to be. But that is not true. He went on two
crusades. On the first his army was defeated and his country was forced to pay for his release. On is
second he was killed. His religious piety was his undoing. He was so focused on religious goals that
he lost sight of being a good king. As talked about early a good king needs to have a balance of traits
and not be overwhelmed by one trait like piety. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However during his crusade this may have led to his defeat. During the 7th crusade, the crusades are
faced with a decision of where to go after capturing Damietta. They could choose to follow the 5th
crusade and go down to Mansurah then Cairo or go to Alexandria. Thomas Madden in The Concise
History of the Crusades takes about St. Louis reasoning behind his choice to go to Mansurah. Louis
deeply believed that God was eager to bestow great victories on his army of crusaders, and the ease
with which they had taken Damietta confirmed this for him. He felt certain that similar victories
awaited them at Mansurah and Cairo if only they put their trust in God rather than in clever
bargaining. (Madden pg160) St. Louis felt that God was going to help them win the battles to come
and put his trust in God rather than reason. With his strong devotion to God, it is hard to say that he

Madness In H. P. Lovecraft s Temple
H.P. Lovecraft s Temple tells the story of how a German crew on a badly damaged ship during World
War Two slowly descends into madness. A combination of odd sightings, fear, illness, and eventually
violence and suicide leave the protagonist, Karl Heinrich, all by himself on a doomed ocean voyage.
By the end of the story, Heinrich senses that he is going mad. He believes to have found the lost city
of Atlantis, and ultimately dies while exploring it. An episode of Star Trek: Voyager titled Bliss deals
with the similar theme of a descent into madness. This science fiction 1990 s television show takes
place in the 24th century of our universe. The starship Voyager has been flung to the other end of the
galaxy, and the show is about their journey ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The crew is terribly afraid of being lost in space forever. When the crew finds an unstable wormhole
that appears to be a direct route back to Earth, they jump at the chance. However, the crew of the
starship has one member who is not from the Alpha Quadrant, where earth and the other crew member
s alien home worlds are located. This crew member, named Seven, is the only one who has no desire
to ever return home, since she never had a home. Therefore, she is the only character not afraid of
being lost in space forever, since she is perfectly content there. Seven analyzes the wormhole with the
ship s sensors. With these sensors, she finds clear evidence that the wormhole is not a wormhole at all,
but rather some sort of elaborate alien deception, trying to lure the crew into their grasp. Despite her
clear evidence that the wormhole is an alien trap, the crew is so afraid of being stuck in space forever
that they enter the wormhole anyway. Their fear of being lost forever in space overcame all of the
rational though that Seven presented them with. Their fear drove them to do the unthinkable. It is not
only in fictional stories where this fear

My Friend As A Friend
As a child growing up you meet many people that you like. Everyone tends to make your day from the
kind stranger whom gave you a dollar at the grocery store to your neighbor that lets you pet their dog.
As I ve gotten older I ve grown to love people more than like. Moreover, I have made many long term
friends and continue to do so. I ve always been a social person so making good quality friends has
never been a problem. As my mom would say, I have never met a stranger. Now that I am a freshman
in college and making more friends than ever. Although I ve only been here for three weeks, I have a
large circle of friends that I like very much. Since then, the circle has gotten smaller. Now, there is one
person that I do like the most, Vanessa Rodgers.
In fact, Vanessa is one of my twelve close friends that I have made since I first got to Grambling State
University. Since being her friend I have learned that she is also from my hometown, Houston, Texas.
Vanessa is the opposite of me on the surface but we do share very many similarities. Besides our place
of origin, we re also very sarcastic and hilarious. Our friends and strangers alike say that we re good
people to be around. Always making someone laugh or if you ever need a friend to talk to, Vanessa is
the person I call on. She has a very high pitch squeaky voice that makes everything she say sound so
much better. Everyone gets tickled every time she opens her mouth to speak. Vanessa always has to

Questions On The On Cyber Offense
Report 1
10/10/2014
Luke Weyrauch
ICS 382 01 Fall 2014
Faisal Kaleem
Metropolitan State University
Background
Cyberattacks have both the potential to devastate and intimidate. They can disable national
infrastructure, disrupt communication systems, or even destroy nuclear reactors.
Cybersecurity is a thought provoking and interesting issue. The use of cyberattacks in US as a tool of
policy is not sufficiently deliberated by policy makers but it s of utmost importance to the nation. The
policy issues facing the acquisition and use of cyberattacks in US remains a riddle among many
policymakers in the US and the world at large. Lifting the Veil on Cyber Offense is an article based on
the National Research Council, 2009. The article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Summary of the issues raised
The pertinent issues presented in the article are majorly based on the ways the National
Research Council can protect the US against cyberattacks. The article affirms that cybersecurity is
both a delicate and sensitive issue that requires deliberate monitoring before taking any action.
However, most of the studies carried out have been based mostly on the cyberdefense side rather than
the cyber offense side. This gap, therefore, acts as a motivation towards carrying out this particular
research in trying to unveil some of the issues that remain untouched.
The current state of cyberattacks in many countries including the US is one filled with dilemma and
misunderstanding. Proper institutions and policies have not been set in place to ensure that the policies
formulated are in line with both national and international interests. Some of the problems existing
include difficulty in identification of parties responsible for cyberattacks, strategic and tactical
implications of cyberattacks, and lack of comprehensive strategic policies in the US, among many
others (Lin, 2009). These problems exist because cyber related crimes have no boundaries nor proper

King James Version New Living Translation
In reading the King James Version, New American bible, and new living translation, each of these
translations in my opinion show no significant difference in reading Genesis 2. Each translation gives
a good description of how God created the heavens and the earth and explaining the Sabbath.
Although each translation is clear and understandable, I believe the King James Version is more
transparent to those who will read it. These translations do not make a difference in understanding of
the true exegesis. The translations are conveying the same thing but just using different wording. All
of these versions are translated from different sources and some words might transfer over to different
meaning. I think it would matter if these translations

Habitat AA Case Study
A.) In fig 1A, the environmental selection, shows species in pool, where different habitat types
existed. The species composition is determined by the environmental selection. Similar habitats select
for similar species to occupy its environment. In 1A, habitats A and A have the same invasion of
species which are species 1, 2, 3, and 4. The fundamental niche is where species could live and
reproduce itself in the whole range of habitats. Diverse types of species could occupy similar habitat.
In fig. 1D, dispersal limitation, the barrier requires that a species has the similar building blocks to

When we consider the microbiome in our gut as invasive species, like any other invasive species we
can see that their chance of surviving in our body depends on niche and resources. The environment
conditions such as temperature, pH, and aerobic/anaerobic will determine if a species occupy that
space will thrive or not. By viewing pathogens as invasive species, we see that the contexts in which
they are able to cause disease are the same as those required for any other species that invades and

Biomedical Model
In order to understand the Biomedical model of health and wellbeing, the meaning behind the terms
biomedical, health and wellbeing must be understood. The term biomedical combines both biological
and medical science. It is a term used consistently within health care, that helps portray the clear links
with the biomedical concepts. Bio simply means living, or living organism. Medical refers to the
diagnosis and cure of a disease with the input of science. Health can be defined as a complete
physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. This means
that any disturbances that would effect either physical, mental or social well being, will have possible
consequences regarding one s health in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Psychological and social factors are excluded from this model. Excluding these will improve a service
provider s understanding of an individuals illness, with the only contribution from biological factors.
The main focus of this model is entirely on the individuals health and wellbeing, seeking to treat/cure
them through various applications. Reasons for a disease or illness are completely unnecessary. This
model of care is implemented through health care professionals as a medical approach. Diseases or
illnesses will be approached through diagnosis, treatment and the possibility of a cure. An example of
this could be; x ray, ultrasound, blood tests and so. The action followed from the diagnostic is known
as the treatment. Treatment aims to improve an individuals health and wellbeing, for example;
hospitalisation, surgery, medication, physiotherapy and so on. To cure an individual means to
successfully aid their return to the pre illness state. The biomedical model has gradually developed and
evolved due to the new advances in technology, as well as other advances in areas like; medical
science, increased rates in treatments and cures. The concept of the biomedical model of health is
usually the first thought that arises when an individual thinks of healthcare. This model informs that
no responsibility lies with an individual who has an illness or disease, as both body and mind function

  • 2. Foucault Foucault s theorisation of the power/knowledge relationship Foucault in theorizing the relationship between power and knowledge basically focused on how power operated in the institutions and in its techniques. The point is how power was supported by knowledge in the functioning of institutions of punishment. He places the body at the centre of the struggles between different formations of power/knowledge. The techniques of regulation are applied to the body (Wheterell et al., 2001: 78) Power is the ability to control others or one s entity. Accordingly it can be defined as a kind of strength or as an authority. There are various theorisations about the meaning of this term in sociology thus it would be hard to give a comprehensive ... When plague turned up the old system followed the then methods of observation and surveillance, plague was everywhere thus the supporting power must have been mobilized. In this case power is mobilized; it makes itself everywhere present and visible; it invents new mechanism; it separates; it immobilizes etc. to make people act as it was expected in these conditions (because of the plague almost every interactions must have been stopped in the interest of getting rid of the disease). (Foucault, 1975) The Panopticon instead of exercising power from several sides emphasises the importance and perfection of the surveillance focus from one place. The Panopticon is a building which has an annual part in the periphery and a tower in the centre. Next to omitting little details its most important feature is the ability to see into every cells without being visible. The panoptic mechanism arranges spatial unities that make it possible to see constantly and to recognize immediately. (Calhoun et al., 2007: 209) The consciousness of being watched make people put on their best behaviour, their best way of acting thus the inmates do not commit any further crimes as it usually occurs that could happen without being watched. Gregor Mendel s Laws Of Inheritance Gregor Mendel s Laws of Inheritance Gregor Mendel, also know as the Father of genetics, was a monk who studied pea plants and discovered the laws of heredity. Heredity is the passing of traits from one generation to another. There are three laws and they are known as; the law of dominance, law of segregation, and the law of independent assortment. The law of dominance states that the dominant alleles always show and the recessive alleles can be hidden because of that. For example, if brown eyes are dominant in a family, their genotype would be AA or Aa. In a heterozygous pair, like Aa, the dominant allele would appear in the phenotype because dominant will always show even though there a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Common Long Term Complications Of Diabetes Mellitus One of the most common long term complications of diabetes mellitus is painful neuropathy. Diabetic neuropathy is estimated to affect about 60 70% of all diabetes patients and can lead to foot ulcers, amputations, and decreased quality of life. The most common form is chronic peripheral neuropathy which results in pain and numbness in the extremities, usually described as a burning, tingling, or steady aching pain.1 Patients may also feel increased sensitivity to pain or experience paresthesia, a sensation of tingling, tickling, or prickling of the skin.1 According to current guidelines, intensive glycemic control is very important for the prevention and reduction of peripheral neuropathy and other microvascular complications.1,2 Medications used to help relieve nerve pain include duloxetine and pregabalin (Lyrica®), which are both approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for use in diabetic neuropathy. Other drug classes commonly used are antidepressants, anticonvulsants, and opioids.3 Although there are many medications used for this condition, pain relief is often insufficient for patients. Treatment is difficult due to the complicated pathophysiology of pain transmission and the wide range of mechanisms of action of drugs used to treat pain. Therefore, there is a continued need for additional medication options for this chronic painful condition. Lacosamide is an anticonvulsant approved for use as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy for partial onset seizures. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Muscles in the body act like levers and allow bones at a joint to move like hinges, when a muscle pulls, this moves the bone making the body move. These muscles can only move bones at a joint as far as the joint will allow and trying to extend joints beyond their range can cause serious damage. He taught us how to love (God with all our heart) and who to love (thy neighbor), which results in us being better leaders. Naturally, each church reads the same scripture but interprets it differently and has a different leadership style as a result of that. Three church s constitutions in particular will be the subject of discussion. I will compare and contrast the leadership structures of the three, list positives and negatives, interpret what I see the preferred church leadership structure and interpret what the constitution reveals about each church. FBC Bossier City This the only church constitution out of the three with a leadership team that is designed specifically for handling church matters that aren t related to the spiritual oversight. This leadership structure is led by the key figure the pastor; he has the power to ordain those. • 14. The Theme Of Individualism By Ralph Waldo Emerson The theme of individualism is present in several of Ralph Waldo Emerson s works. It was also his philosophical views on how to live life. He believed that human beings had remarkable capabilities, more than they can possibly identify. With these capabilities a person should govern themselves, not be governed by a society. Emerson also believed that nature played a large role in how man should act and to follow nature s actions of growing without obstruction ( Nature ). This is why he lead the Transcendentalism movement in the nineteenth century, along with Theodore Parker, Frederic Henry Hedge, Amos Bronson Alcott, Margaret Fuller and Henry David Thoreau (Lewis). This philosophy was not only significant then, it was imperative throughout times in history. Emerson speaks of Americas ability to deviate from the norms set in Europe in one of his formal speeches given in 1837 on August 31st in Cambridge. It was simply titled The American Scholar (originally titled: An Oration Delivered before the Phi Beta Kappa Society, at Cambridge, [Massachusetts,] August 31, 1837). He begins with speaking of how this gathering is distinctive and is nothing like the ones of the past in Europe. He believes it is time to begin anew as a new country of people. He believed that the society they were living in were only allowing them to imitate with the majority and not allow them to be Man Thinking . (Emerson, The American Scholar ). But in end use method of forecasting, statistical information related to customers along with amount of change act as the basis for the forecast. The four important factors affecting load forecast are: I. Weather conditions Electricity demand has a strong correlation to weather. To develop an efficient and accurate demand forecasting model for electricity much effort has been put to find a relationship between the weather and the demand of electricity. The change in comforts of customer due to change in weather conditions resulting in usage of appliances likes air conditioner, space heater and water heater. It also includes use of agricultural appliances for irrigation. The pattern of demand differs greatly in the areas with large meteorological difference during summer and winter. There is one theme, however, that stands out more that the rest and that is man and the natural world. The use of epithets throughout the poem allows the reader to grasp what each of the described words is meant to convey. • 17. High Albedo Lab Introduction The cryosphere consists of all frozen water on earth. It is found in the high northern and southern latitudes of the planet. The components of the cryosphere include the following: sea ice, glaciers, ice sheets, ice shelves, snow cover, freshwater ice, and frozen groundwater. The cryosphere plays an important role in cooling the planet. The cryosphere, being ice, has a high albedo. The accepted albedo of ice in the cryosphere is .6 or 60%, meaning ice reflects 60% of incoming shortwave radiation. It is important that the cryosphere has a high albedo because it helps the planet to absorb less coming radiation, thus helping to cool the atmosphere. Surfaces such as the open ocean or asphalt roads have a lower albedo; these surfaces absorb more incoming radiation and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The surface with the lowest albedo was the soil. The table shows the experimental albedos to be lower than the accepted albedos of each surface. It is very likely that the experimental albedos were lower than the accepted albedo due to human error in measuring the incident illuminance and the reflected illuminance. The values for incident illuminance were higher than expected. They were likely skewed by the distance the light meter senor was held from the heat lamp. Further effort should be taken when repeating this method so that the experimental albedo accurately represents the accepted albedo. This can be accomplished by taking care to hold the light meter sensor at the appropriate distance from the heat lamp. It would have been better to get multiple recordings for the incident illuminance rather than one so the incident illuminance can more accurately represent the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Brief Note On The Kingdom Of Bhutan The Kingdom of Bhutan is a small country with a total area of 38, 394 square kilometres and a population of approximately 745, 000 (Royal Government of Bhutan, 2015). Agriculture is one of the main ways of life for the population of Bhutan, as approximately 56% of the total population is engaged in agriculture and forestry (Royal Government of Bhutan, 2015). Even though a large portion of the population relies on agriculture, only 12 percent of Bhutan s total land area consists of farmlands and grazing areas because of Bhutan s diverse regions (Zurick, 2006). The majority of the land available for agriculture is limited due to steep topography and high altitude (Gurung Seeland, 2011). The rugged mountainous terrain has elevations ranging from 160 7000 metres (Royal Government of Bhutan, 2015). While agriculture is the primary source of income for the population of Bhutan, a major source of revenue for the government is the export of electricity from hydropower projects (Royal Government of Bhutan, 2015). While Bhutan is a small developing country, this has not hindered our ambitions in climate action. Bhutan is the sole country in the world that measures Gross National Happiness rather than Gross Domestic Product. Senator Feinstein cosponsored a bill that has put over 114,000 additional cops in the streets of this nation in order to help fight the crime in this nation. Another big issue that this committee faces with is immigration reforms. For decades this nation has had different perspectives on undocumented people that are within this country.
