Descriptive Writing Essay
Crafting a descriptive writing essay can be both a rewarding and challenging endeavor. The
difficulty lies in the intricacies of capturing the essence of a subject through words, painting a
vivid picture in the reader's mind. Unlike other types of essays that may rely on analytical or
argumentative approaches, descriptive writing requires a finesse in language that goes beyond
conveying information – it demands the ability to evoke sensory experiences and emotions.
One of the challenges is striking the right balance between providing enough detail to make the
scene come alive and avoiding overwhelming the reader with an excess of information. It's like
walking a tightrope between being too vague and leaving the reader disconnected, or being too
detailed and risking monotony. The choice of words becomes crucial in this delicate dance, as
the writer must select expressions that not only accurately describe the subject but also resonate
emotionally with the audience.
Moreover, maintaining coherence and a logical flow can be challenging when the primary goal is
to create a sensory experience. The writer must ensure that the descriptions seamlessly connect,
forming a cohesive narrative that keeps the reader engaged from start to finish. Transitions
between different elements or aspects of the subject should feel natural, enhancing the overall
reading experience.
In addition, the challenge intensifies when attempting to infuse creativity into the essay. The
writer must think beyond the ordinary, finding unique angles and perspectives to present the
subject. This requires a creative mind that can think imaginatively and transform the mundane
into the extraordinary through the power of words.
While the difficulty of writing a descriptive essay may seem daunting, it is precisely this
challenge that makes the process intellectually stimulating. It demands a heightened level of
observational skills, a mastery of language, and the ability to engage the reader's senses on a
profound level.

The Second Amendment Of The United States Constitution
Gun control is an ineffective means of reducing both violent, and firearm related
crime. Limiting the ability for law abiding citizens to responsibly own arms only
reduces their ability to provide to provide security to themselves and their family. It
is not the duty of the federal government to dictate what a citizen chooses to legally
defend themselves with. The second amendment of the United States Constitution
was ratified on the 15 of December, 1791 and was drafted by future president James
Madison. The text of the second amendment reads A well regulated Militia, being
necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear
Arms, shall not be infringed. There has been much debate in our country regarding...

Currently in the United states there are over 18,000 firearm laws in place. The first
federally mandated firearm law was the National Firearm Act of 1934. This
firearm act, which is still in place today, required a Federal Firearms License to be
obtained by anyone in the business of buying, selling, and manufacturing firearms.
The National Firearms Act also required all NFA firearms to be registered with the
Secretary of the Treasury. NFA firearms at the creation of the NFA included rifles
and shotguns with a barrel length under 18 inches, machine guns, and firearm
silencers. To purchase any of these firearms a $200.00 tax was imposed on every
transaction with one of these firearms in an effort to prevent criminals from
purchasing such firearms as they were said to have been popular with the
gangsters of that era. The Bureau of Alcohol tobacco and Firearms defines a
machine gun as a firearm with select fire capabilities. Select fire means that the
firearm has both full and semi automatic fire capabilities. Semi automatic means
that for every one pull of the trigger, one bullet will be fired. Fully automatic means
that for as long as the trigger is pulled, the firearms will continue to fire. On May
19th 1986, the Firearm Owners Protection Act prevented the sale and transfer of
machine guns produced after May 1986. This provision excluded machine guns
registered before May 1986 and machine guns sold to government agencies. With only

Based on these series of events, these paintings were later recovered in one of the
homes of the Italian mobster s mother. The two paintings were found in pretty good
condition, despite the minor damages that was sustained. Yet, after a year later, the
art thief named Octave Durham appeared in a 45 minute Dutch television
documentary that was shown on the same day the two paintings were officially

Italian mobster, Raffaele Imperiale were the three main figures who were involved
in this heinous organized crime. Durham was convicted in 2004 and he had served
over 25 months in prison. He was released from prison in 2006, but returned to
prison due to a fail bank robbery. Imperiale s assets that were approximately around

In the Ted Talk How America s public schools keep kids in poverty, by Kandice
Sumner she uses her personal experience to show frustration with the education
system and how it s racist or biased against blacks and browns. Throughout her whole
speech, she talks about educational systems and her kids and how segregation is
becoming a thing in schools.
She a starts off by saying that her kids are the best then she states the following
However, because their real parents aren t rich and, I argue, because they are
mostly of color, they will seldom get to see in themselves the awesomeness that I
see in them. (Sumner, 2016). Here Kandice makes the point that color students won t
see their full potential like she does. Then she keeps on going saying that she lived
in a family that wasn t wealthy so her neighborhood wasn t wealthy, so her school
wasn t necessarily the best; however that didn t stop her from going to school she
would take an hour long bus ride to get a better education. She thought everyone had
a life like her but she didn t notice this until she was older how she had access to
certain things her kids didn t or her friends from her neighborhood didn t. Then she
asks the following Why is a high quality education only exclusive to the rich?
(Sumner, 2016) This question is pretty easy to answer. Education is exclusive to rich
people because they have money and their parents have connections or know other
important or rich people which can help them out. This
High Fat And Low Carb Diet
Learning that (good) fats are good, and wheat is bad (white or whole, it all has
gluten), one may think, What should I eat then? . The answer is a high fat and low
carb diet. An excellent example of such a diet is called the Paleo diet. Nutritionist
Stephanie Eckelkamp discusses the theory behind the Paleo diet, The theory is,
our bodies haven t evolved to properly digest these modern foods, which became
widely consumed only upon the advent of agriculture 12,000 years ago . Evolution
happens very slowly, so our stomachs know the chemistry of meat, fat, and veggies.
It knows how to break them down. If the species of felines have been eating meat,
then why would anyone start to force all cats to start eating beans and rice? That
food wasn t meant for them, and it would probably make them really sick. If
humans have been eating meat, fat, and veggies for so long and have been never
had a problem with weight, then why is everyone so surprised that large quantities
of GMO food (genetically modified food that has been changed in a lab), featuring
modern day gluten, has dramatically increased obesity and is killing more people
than cigarette smoking? What about the people who have lost weight with the low
fat and high carb diet? A recent study done by a Harvard team of professors looks at
the difference between high fat and high carb and their effects for weight loss. Amby
Burfoot, who wrote an article explaining the study, reported this, After six days, the

Robert Graves Good-Bye To All That
In Good bye to All That, the autobiography by Robert Graves, explores his
experiences during World War I and reflects on his life prior to being a soldier as a
way to display the universal loss of innocence. World War I caused for a shift in
the perception and need for traditional Victorian values in post war Europe due to
the wartime experiences. Composition, created by LГ©opold Survage in 1915, is
an abstract oil painting that revolves around the image of a man, stylized as a black
shadow, with a series of disjointed images surrounding the figure. Graves
investigation of modern disillusionment works in tangent with Survage s discussion

CIS610 Information Warfare Class Analysis
Starting the third week of CIS610 Information Warfare Class it I had a very good
idea of what was expected of me as a student in this class. I was able to determine
this based on the quick grading and excellent feedback provided on each of my
assignments in week one and two. This allowed me to use this information to
improve my work to better meet the expectation of the teacher. Along with this,
going into the third week of class I felt as if I had gotten into a schedule which
would work best for ensuring the completion of my assignments in an organized
and timely fashion. The Third week of this class was designed to cover objectives
one, two, and three. Objectives one and two were covered in weeks one and two
which allowed week three to take what we had already learned about what
information warfare is and the theory of warfare and apply it in our week three

Due to the televised nature of the Vietnam War the Tet offensive was highly televised
in the United States. This attack showed the American people that the United States
had underestimated the abilities of the North Vietnamese army and their ability to
use misinformation and perform large scale multi front attack. This in turn decreased
the moral of American soldiers and civilian following war and lead to drastic increase
in anti war segment making the United States involvement in Vietnam unfadable in
the eyes of a large majority of the United States population with only 28% of the
United States endorsing the handing of the war. This drastic increase in anti war
sentiment throughout the war forced the withdraw of United State personnel from
Vietnam by the end of 1975. This showed the United States how information warfare

Analysis Of George Washington Carver s The Golden Door...
George Washington Carver once said Education is the key to unlock the golden
door of freedom. Freedom can be defined in various ways by different people. To
many immigrants, America is often seen as that opportunity of freedom, the
freedom to learn, the freedom to love, and even just the freedom to exist. In this
paper, I will put into words the story behind a second generation female immigrant s
experiences. By using various articles and notes given in class, I will talk about her
and her familys assimilation process and how their freedom involves the power of
education. I interviewed a second generation individual for this paper. I shall call her
Margo, for the sake of confidentiality purposes. She is currently a high school
student. Margo was born in America to two immigrant parents, making her a second
generation immigrant (Feliciano Lec 01/04/16). Both of Margo s parents migrated
from Sri Lanka, a small country located by the tip of India. Margo s parents came to
America to escape the ongoing civil war that was taking place in Sri Lanka. There
was a rivalry between the Tamils and the Sinhalese, two groups of people in Sri
Lanka. Being Tamil, her family was faced with so many disadvantages, seeing that
the Sinhalese were the dominant group. During the war, her family faced a lot of
discrimination. Margo s mom s brother was shot to death in the middle of the street
for no reason at all. Tired of all of the injustices faced, Margo s parents decided to

Analysis of Derek Thompson’s Essay, “How
Headphones...
Headphones are a necessity for many people in today s society. Headphones allow a
person to listen to music without disturbing others; therefore people are listening to
music all day while they eat, sleep, or work. In Derek Thompson s essay, How
Headphones Changed the World , Thompson addresses the problem of why workers
use headphones even if studies have shown that it interferes with their productivity
levels. Thompson effectively uses precise language and organizes his essayin a way
that shows a breakdown of his thoughts on this topic. These two elements make the
essay easy to understand, which enhances the audience s reading experience.
To begin with, Derek Thompson uses precise language in his essay which allows
for his essay to be easily understood by the general public. First off, Thompson only
addresses what is needed for the readers to obtain a good level of understanding
about the topic. One can argue that headphones have the capacity to make our music
like our thoughts. Something that nobody else can hear. Something we can choose to
share (Thompson 3). By reading that quote, the general public is able to clearly
understand that headphones can make music like our thoughts, and 2 specific
reasons why. There is no further explanation or additional examples, because it is
simply not necessary. There is not too little, or too much information and therefore
allows for readers to understand the Thompson s ideas clearer. Secondly, he makes
his sentences precise. His

executives who refuse to provide much training to their front line store employees.
One of the most common is: What if I train them, and they leave? Friedman says this

Essay The Theme of Blindness in King Lear
The Theme of Blindness in King Lear
In the tragedy King Lear, the term blindness has an entirely different meaning. It is
not a physical flaw, but the inability of the characters to see a person for whom they
truly are. They can only read what is presented to them on the surface. King Lear,
Gloucester and Albany are three prime examples characters who suffered most by
having this flaw.
Lear was by far the blindest of the three. Because Lear was the King, one would
expect him to have superb reasoning skills, but his lack of insight kept him from
making wise choices. This is the flaw that led to his downfall.
Lear s first big mistake was letting himself be fooled by Regan and Goneril, and
giving them his throne. For they did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the play progressed Lear s sanity went downhill, but his vision became clearer.
When Goneril and Regan would not provide him with shelter during a furious storm,
Lear realized that they were the daughters who did not love him. He also began to
understand the words of Cordelia from the beginning of the play, he realized that she
loved him too much to put into words.
When Lear and Cordelia finally reunited near the end of the play, Lear expressed his
sorrow for what he had done. You must bear with me, I pray you now, forget and
forgive:/ I am old an foolish. ( 4, 7. 82 ) But it was too late, Lear s rashness and
inability to see clearly had already cost him, and Cordelia their lives.
Lear was not the only character to suffer from blindness, Gloucester too, had lack of
insight. He could not see the goodness of his son Edgar, and the wickedness of
Edmund. A forged letter was the only evidence needed to convince Gloucester that
Edgar was plotting to kill him. Immediately after reading the letter Gloucester
screams in a rage;
O villain, villain! His very opinion in the/ letter! Abhorred villain! Unatural, delested,
brutish/ villain! Worse than brutish! Go, sirrah, seek him; I ll/ apprehend him.
Abominable villain! Where is he? (1, 2. 75 78 )
He did not even stop to consider if Edgar were capable of doing such a thing.
Ironically, it is not until Gloucester loses his physical sight, when his vision becomes
clear. He finds out that it was
Racism In Ernest Gaines s A Lesson Before Dying
Racism is the belief that innate differences between races dictate cultural
achievement and includes the idea that one race is above another. This is a
universal problem and is the root of discrimination. Lately, police officers face
accusations of racial profiling and being responsible for several unjust murders. The
deaths that are due to the victims skin pigment recognize that social oppression is an
active practice. In the book A Lesson Before Dying, author Ernest Gaines reveals
how racismis an oppressive force through multiple characters and situations.

White Privilege In Time Wise
In the movie, Time Wise, an antiracist and educator, explores racism and white
privilege. He thoroughly brings up the phrase white denial , where politicians and
others consistently believe that racism is in the past. In the reading in class we
have also described this onset as colorblind racism (Golash Boza 64). He also
integrates living expectations and stereotypes into his video by describing his
past. Tim had lived in an area where he attended a majority black school. There he
was described, when he failed, that he was not working to his potential. They used
this word because of his skin color, whereas his peers, when receiving the same
grade, were working as expected. He goes on to further explain that the United
States has always had racial problems from the beginning and that future generations
will inherit these problems. However, he is a firm believer that we can fix these
issues. One of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, one stood out; what does it mean to be white? A question that I had
never thought of because I had lived all my life with the privilege of being white. It
s true that I have never experienced a situation where others cross the street because
they feel threatened by me. Or that I can easily buy a toy when I was younger that
looked like me because I was an average white person. Another intriguing thought
that the students in the video provoked was affirmative action. As I do attend a
university in the north, it is not an unpopular subject. It is often stated that the
university has a quota or policy that helps those who are often discriminated against
to be admitted into the school because of their skin color. I have known friends who
were admitted to the same school or had received scholarships because of their race.
And as awful as it sounds, I felt as if I was being discriminated against because I was

The Discussion on Immigration
If you are an everyday American, one of the most talked about things right now is
immigration. The definition of immigration is the action of coming to live
permanently in a foreign country. Why is something with such a simple definition
cause so much unease in U.S. people? Why is it that people such as Donald Trump
find it ok to kick people who are trying to do the very thing that our country is built
off of? The United States was built off of the action of moving to a foreign country

The Romanticism Period By William Cullen Bryant
First of all, the Romanticism Period is all about the ideas of nature, beauty, fantasy,
and love, not necessarily having to do with a boy and a girl. As for Realism
behind all the weird and beautiful ideas to live happily ever after, the people
realized the problems were not fixed with the Civil War. Therefore, the people
started to convert into Realism seeing the world focusing on details, facts, and the
people. The two periods follow each other because the time the world came to a
revolution which the people know till this day. Such as William Cullen Bryant, who
was a Romantic writer of To a Waterfowl and believed, creating a natural scene to
teach a lesson. Thou rt gone, the abyss of heaven hath swallowed up thy form; yet,
on my heart, (Bryant) which the critics have suggested, a more universal image to
help in conveying his theme of the poem by blending the scenes from his reflection.
(Philip) Leaving a clear view of something floating over things and vanishing through
the horizon. Other Romantic writer is Edgar Allan Poe, which wrote Annabel Lee a
poem about his love one that passed away. He believed that even as children he and
his Annabel Lee love for each other was strong that even angels wanted love like it.
For example, And so, all the nigh tide, I lie down by the side of my darling, my
darling, my life, and my bride. In her sepulcher, a monument there by the sea, in her
tomb by the side of the sea. (Locklear) Is creepy, weird and the most romantic idea
Integrated Communication Skills

If I have a student like Kevin in my classroom I would make sure to incorporate
social interaction and communication skills in my class each day. I would provide

understanding and use of gestures; to a total lack of facial expressions and nonverbal

deficit to me that described Kevin were abnormalities in eye contact and body
language. When Kevin was younger he got into a lot of accidents that caused him
harm. Whenever he would fall instead of reaching his hands out to prevent him from

The firm drives its operations diversely and internationally in scope, but they are

of the owners to set up Panamanian shell companies to establish their financial

Examining Greed in The Rocking Horse Winner

of an upper middle class family struggling to maintain appearances through
habitual overspending. Both the parents with common jobs and expensive tastes

only to retain their high status in the society. The Rocking Horse Winner depicts a
common demon we all face; greed, society s need for more possessions and money

Yalta Essays
The Yalta Conference
The Yalta Conference was one of the most important events in history, let alone, this
century. It took place from February 4 to February 11, 1945, at Yalta, Crimea, a port
/resort. The three main individuals at this meeting were Churchill of Great Britain,
Roosevelt of the United States and Stalin of the
U.S.S.R, known back then, and now known as Russia.
Roosevelt had two primary goals at Yalta, and he secured them both, during the

Churchill took the initiative on this issue, arguing with great energy that France
be given both and occupation zone and a seat of the ACC. The British prime
minister was understandable anxious to engage France in the task of occupying
and controlling Germany in the general to rebuild French power with a view to
help offset the Soviet military presence in Central Europe. After much behind the
scenes talks and debates, FDR was finally convinced to give France a seat in the
ACC. Stalin agreed, but it in no way affected the size of the Soviet occupation, so it
was of no real interest to him. It had always been understood that any zone for
France would be formed out of part of the British and American zones, already made
out.
Churchill s concern about particular issues reflected in his apprehension that the
United States would not maintain an armed presence in Europe. Stalin had noted
that a prolonged presence of American military forces would be necessary in
Europe. In reply to Stalin s comment, he said that American forces should not stay
very long. This opinion was underlined by FDR when in a telegram to Churchill he
stated that You know, of course that after Germany s collapse I must bring American
troops home as rapidly as transportation problems will permit (2). So, it came as no
surprise to Churchill, when at Yalta, FDR stated that American
Mourning Etiquette In The Victorian Era
Background on the time period: The Victorian era was the time period between the
years 1837 and 1901. It was named after Queen Alexandrina Victoria Guelph who
became the Queen of Britain and Ireland. When her husband, Prince Albert died
December 14, 1861, at the age of 42, Queen Victoria went into deep mourning, which
she remained in until her death. Toward the end of the 19th century, people and
trends were changing as were the thoughts on mourning etiquette. The Queen of
England, being the biggest trend setter of the day, kept mourning a tradition, most
followed her example and continued to practice strict mourning etiquette until after
her death and the start of the 20th century. Quality of life had improved for the
average person by the Victorian Era. People expected to live long lives and when
young people died, which they frequently did, it was seen as tragic and terrible.
During the 19th century death was a constant fact of life. People died from
disease, lack of proper medical care, inadequate food, poor sanitary conditions,
accidents on the farm, fire, and war. The Industrial Revolution just added on to the
list of things you could die from. It created an environment in which accidents led
to the deaths of many workers who were men, women, and even children. The most
common death for women was related to childbirth complications. The average
person s lifespan was around 50 years of age. The mortality rate for children was
especially high. One third of all
How Did Alexander II Kill The Tsar
Explain why Tsar Alexander II was assassinated in 1881 (12 marks)
Tsar Alexander II was assassinated for a number of reasons. Tsar Alexander II was
the ruler of Russia since 1855 to 1881. He was killed in the streets of St. Petersburg
by a bomb thrown by a member of the People s Will group. The People s Will was
formed in 1879. They used methods such as terrorism and assassination in their
attempt to overthrow Russia s Tsarist autocracy. They murdered officials and made
several attempts on the Tsar s life before finally assassinating him on March 13
1881. Alexander II did much to liberalize and modernize Russia this included the
abolishment of serfdom in 1861. However his authority was challenged by groups
such as the People s Will party, the populist and the intelligentsia. He used repressive
actions and he passionately opposed movements for political reform. ... Show more

At court, reactionary ministers hinted that the tsars reforming instincts had gone too
far. Weakening the props which the impartial monarchy relied on, the church and the
nobility. They argued that the state needed to be purged of the foreign influences
which were undermining it, both the dangerous and uncontrollable western ideas
which were spreading through the liberal universities and being discussed in the
press, more literally the ethnic minorities and their religion which were seen as
diluting Russian strength. The conservatives were not against all the changes that
Alexander II had initiated. Therefore the reason why Tsar Alexander II was
assassinated was because of reactions to
The Tragedy Of Sophocles Oedipus
Shakespeare, one of the greatest playwrights of the Renaissance era, could have
changed Ancient Greek Theatre plays tremendously as his approach was drastically
different than that of Greek playwrights. In Oedipus by Sophocles, a curse has been
set on the people of Thebes for the previous murderer of their former king Laius.
King Oedipusas a child was given a prophecy that he would kill his father and marry
his mother and that indeed has occurred as it is proven by witnesses that he was the
murderer of the king and that his wife is also his mother. Following this horrible
news Oedipus wife commits suicide and Oedipus decides to blind himself, to only
then be exiled from Thebes. Shakespeare would have changed many things about how
Sophocles wrote Oedipus and one of the first things he would do are establish many
settings throughout the story, add much more violence than what Sophocles already
provided, and have many time changes instead of having everything crammed into
one day.
As Oedipus By Sophocles has only one setting because of how Ancient Greek theatre
was distinguished, Shakespeare was not restrained, and he would use as many as
setting he would need to tell a story. Oedipus occurs at the palace and does not
have any setting changes even when Oedipus orders that Creon goes hear Tiresias
the blind prophets fortune. Shakespeare would have added a setting change from the
palace to Creon visiting Tiresias at his home. We would go from the palace to
somewhere far away
U.s. State Department Advisory

both stood glancing back and forth between his massive pile and the small plane.
When we made eye contact, we both burst out laughing. Obviously, we had way
too much to put in the plane. In addition to sheer volume, we needed to be
concerned with Weight and Balance; in other words, total weight and how it s
distributed in relation to the airplane s center of gravity. My weight, Miguel s

Circumcision Is A Debating Procedure For Many Years
Circumcision has been a debating procedure for many years. It is a procedure that
means cutting off the foreskin, or ring of tissue that covers the head of the penis.
Circumcision is said to have started many years ago and is a big part is some
religions. For example, according to the book of Genesis in the Torah, god made a
covenent with Abraham (a Jewish patriarch) in which Abraham and his decendents
would be given great land riches, and success. There was only one catch, Abraham,
his descendants, any slaves purchased or born in his house hold by the eighth day of
life. If any failed to do so then they would be separate from his people and live
without the favor of god. Untill this day Jewish people have lived by that and is a
strong religious belief. This procedure on the Jews was called a bris or brit milah.
Even though circumcision was practiced in different areas of the world, it was first
documented in art form by the Egyptians. They circumcised because they believed it
was a method of purification. It later started making its way to other cultures, but
nobody really knows why the practice spread nor why it even started.
Many other countries removed the foreskin because they believed it marked entrance
into adulthood, to humiliate enemies, to identify those with higher social status, to
enhance or limit sexual pleasure. Also having your penis circumcised helped make it
easier to maintain clean. Normally circumcision was done at the age where they
thought was

Homelessness in Hawaii
How can we help them through this struggle?
The future is the children, yet many are choosing to be runaways and headed to the
direction of becoming homeless at a young age. Before criticizing their poor
choices, there are valid common reasons as to why youth are leaving, such as family
problems, being casted away for having an unacceptable sexuality and teens who end
up being pregnant. Around the world, there have been quite a few cases that involve
the three reasons for homelessness listed, including in the State of Hawaii. In order
to prevent the numbers of young ones from becoming homeless, the state alone
offers a variety of organizations, programs and projects that provides help to all
underage group of teens circling dangerous streets. Some great organizations,
programs and projects that can be found are called Hawaii YouthServices Network
(HYSN),
Youth Outreach (YO), and Institute for Human Services family shelter (IHS). It is
normal to have people claiming to have never heard about any of these before, but
that is because media coverage mainly focuses on the much bigger group which are
the adults and does not show the other part where youngsters are struggling to
survive alone. Nonetheless, the growth of homelessness needs to be controlled soon
or this will divert more of people s focus on other problems in the community.

Persuasive Essay On Social Welfare Policy
Social welfare policy is defined as acts, laws, and rules that help improve the lives
of people in the community . Social welfare policy includes social security, justice,
unemployment insurance, living conditions, health care, child protection, and
educational policy. During the English Poor Laws, it provided relief for the poor as
well as work for the able bodied in workhouses. The primary goal for social welfare
policies is to reduce poverty. President Ronald Reagan proposed the Trickle Down
method which was a theory that provided economic benefits to those with upper
level incomes. In the past, these social welfare programs was not enough to
dismiss the issues of inflation and equality within the economic system. Social
Welfare policies have developed over the years but there is still a ongoing issue on
poverty. According to the Census on poverty, In 2016 there were 40.6 million
people in poverty, 2.5 million fewer than in 2015 and 6.0 million fewer than in
2014 (Semega and Kollar 2017). Welfare assistance may result in families being
trapped in poverty. Some may argue that one of the reasons why there is poverty in
America now is due to social welfare programs that give a minimal amount of
money to aid the poor. According to Eternity, facts and figures on the subject of
poverty must be parsed: There are beggars living paycheck to paycheck, a step away
from slipping into poverty. There are beggars mired in deep poverty, handed down
generationally. And there
The Real Macbeth Research Paper
The Real Macbeth
Who really was Macbeth?
We all know the character in William Shakespeare s tragic play Macbeth, but who
really was Macbeth? Was he really the murderous man that ruthlessly killed the
people closest to him? Did he really go insane due to the guilt of his actions? Well, to
start at the very beginning, the real Macbeth was born in 1005 to Finlay MacRory,
Mormaer of Moray, and Donalda, daughter of Kenneth II ( Macbeth. BBC News).
Macbeth later married Gruoch, granddaughter to Kenneth III, as well as adopted her
son Lulach ( King Macbeth of Scotland ). In 1031, Macbeth succeeded his father,
after his death, and became the Mormaer of Moray ( Macbeth. Britannica School).

Macbeth ruled successfully from 1040, after defeating Duncan I, until 1057, when
he was killed in battle ( Macbeth. Bio). Macbeth s reign and defeat were the muse
for Shakespeare s tragedy Macbeth where he partially illustrates the true story of
Macbeth.
Macbeth vs. Macbeth
William Shakespeare s play, Macbeth, is historically inaccurate when it comes to
the portrayal of the actual Macbeth. To begin, Macbeth did not brutally murder
King Duncan in his sleep, but rather defeated him in a battle near Elgin Morayshire
in August, 1040 (Johnson). It was then that Macbeth respectably claimed the title
of King of the Scots because of his relation to Kenneth MacAlpin (the first King of
the Scots), unlike in Shakespeare s play, where Macbeth is only given the crown
because Duncan s two sons run away ( Macbeth. Bio). Also, the real Macbeth ruled
successfully for 17 years, with both law and order as well as encouraging
Christianity ( Macbeth. Bio). Shakespeare compresses Macbeth s reign to only
about a year s time where we see the fictional Macbeth rule aggressively and kills all
potential threats to his crown such as Banquo and Macduff s family

According to the online dictionary, a bully is someone that uses superior strength or
influence to intimidate another person typically to force the bullied person to do
what the bully wants them to do. Bullying, whether in person or in the cyber world,

community where life is very laid back and everyone knows each other, but bullying
still exists. I find it very interesting that each public school in Pennsylvania has an anti
bullying system that is practiced, anti bullying is consistently taught in media and in
religious institutions but it doesn t seem to have impacted the rate of bullying issues.

Some say in ice.

I was thinking that Frost wanted to basically put a question on our minds, If you
had to choose a way to die would you choose fire or ice? In lines seven through
nine, To say that destruction ice is also great and would suffice . To me this is
saying you would have to choose the lesser of the two evils. Weighting the pros
and cons of the two. Asking which one is better for you, a cold slow death or a hot
slow death. But in the end of the poem Frost is saying the no matter which one he
picks they are both going to give you the same results, death. To analyze the poem
better I took each word as if it symbolized a certain characteristic. In lines three and
four, From what I ve tasted of desire I hold those who favor fire it led me to believe
that Frost was trying to use desire as a metaphor to fire. Desire, can usually be used
a negative or a positive manner depending on the context it s use. In the poem I
think that Frost is using it in a negative sense, because he is uses words like end,
perish, and destruction in the poem. Negatively the word desire can mean the
drive to win or receive something at any cost, the urge for power, which is very
destructive. In lines six and nine I think I know enough of hate to say that for
destruction ice is also great and would suffice . Saying that ice is a metaphor to hate.
The word hate is worldly known to have a negative condensation. Hate is also
The Competency Of The Educator
Students who are taught key skills and strategies in reading instruction often develop
into more proficient readers than those who are not provided with these skills in an
explicit and systematic way. As formal reading instruction for many students
commences in the foundation year of school, it is the role of the educator to model
and explain the key components of literacy to students. Research on effective reading
instruction suggests that students benefit when they learn concepts of print,
phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension (National
ReadingPanel, 2000). Moreover, reading instruction needs to be supported by
effective teaching strategies that include modelled reading aloud, shared book
reading, guided... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through a balanced approach, educators make decisions on individual student s
literacy needs and select appropriate instructional activities with the goal of
developing, value, comprehension, and enjoyment of reading (Cowan, as cited in
National Education Psychological Service [NEPS], 2015, p. 8). However, research
concludes there is no definitive description of what a balanced approach to literacy
means and they all have similar elements. To put it another way, effective educators
of reading instruction offer a print rich balanced reading program that incorporates
explicit and systematic instructions in concepts of print, phonemic awareness,
phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. These reading skills develop as
educators model and scaffold engaging activities, for instance, read aloud s, shared,
guided, and independent reading, rhymes, and songs. These activities are the
underpinnings of a successful literacy program (Winch, Johnston, March, Ljungdahl,
Holliday, 2006, p. 155). A balanced reading approach also provides students
opportunities to repeat and practice skills as educators observe and assess student s
abilities. Therefore, educators must explicitly instruct literacy skills from foundation
to year twelve because they are essential to academic growth.
Explicit teaching is a systematic and carefully planned approach that effectively
teaches students the key skills of literacy.
Life Span Development Paper
According to Cliff Notes, Developmental psychology is the scientific study of age
related changes throughout the human life span. A discipline of scientific inquiry,
developmental psychology recognizes humans of all societies and cultures as beings
who are in process, or constantly growing and changing. This discipline identifies the
biological, psychological, and social aspects that interact to influence the growing
human life span process. Within the last 25 years, developmentalist s researchers who
study human development expanded their focus to include the study of the physical,

The last stage is the Formal operational stage. This stage is for ages eleven and up.
This is the stage when thoughts are better conserved, more logical and more

these stages can be affected by many factors. These factors include environment
and surroundings, genes, and everyday interactions. As a parent I feel that it is
very important to have day to day interaction with your child whether they are
newborn or a teenager. I have a 5 month old son and a seven year old daughter. It is
imperative to both of their development for one on one time and interaction as well

At this point BMW has showcased its fleet of hydrogen powered vehicle very
successfully and hope s to have the cars on the market in Europe in 2005.
Before thinking that Hydrogen is ready for use right now, it should be noted that
there are issues to be resolved to make this system work as perfectly as it should.
As mentioned earlier, BMW has achieved some measure of success with their
hydrogen fueled vehicles, but what was not mentioned is that in order for this fuel
to work properly in these cars, it has to be compressed enough to provide the
required amount to make it practical (around 400 miles from a full tank) therefore
it has to be cooled to a temperature of 423 degrees Fahrenheit. BMW has safely
achieved this with its fuel tank, but now needs to make the fuel tank cost effective
and mass produce it. If it were not cooled, the fuel tank would be too large for any
automobile. Also the fuel tank would have to be insulated and designed to keep it at
that temperature and because it is compressed it would need to withstand 10,000 psi
В– 50 times the pressure of a normal gas tank.
The infrastructure is a large problem to overcome: how to begin manufacturing,
storing and building or retrofitting fueling stations across the nation, this in itself is
an enormous economic undertaking to overcome. It will require a commitment from
the private and government sector similar

How Is Andrew Carnegie Ethical
Andrew Carnegie is without a doubt one of the most famous rags to riches stories.
He came to America from Scotland at 12 years old in 1448. His family immigrated
to avoid poverty. When he matured, Carnegie took on a railroad assistant job and in
doing this, became essential to the railroad business. Eventually, he was able to
construct and build his own steel company named Carnegie Steel Corporation.
Although Carnegie became successful philanthropist, he may not have taken the
most ethical route. While he is quoted saying The man who thus dies rich, dies
disgraced, he had an appetite for wealth himself. Using the excuse of the fall in steel
prices, Carnegie argued a 20% cut in his employees wages due to his need to be

Seatbelts
Definition= A seat belt is a vehicular safety device designed to secure the occupant of
a vehicle against harmful movement that may result during a collision or a sudden
stop.
Seatbelts are used so that the occupant is not thrown forward during a vehicle crash,
as a result of inertia. Inertia is the tendency to stay in the same state of either
moving, or not moving, and because of this, anything inside of a car when it crashes
wants to continue to move forward. Seatbelts restrict the space for the occupant to
move, keeping them in their place, and stopping them from moving forward.
Seatbelts also spread the load exerted on the body to the areas that can handle the
force, such as the chest and hips.
Seatbelts are one of the major safety features of a car, as without them, a person is
almost certain to die in a collision. Seatbelts however, increase the chance of survival
by 45%.
As seen from the images below, seatbelts decrease both force and g s applied on
their user during a collision, decreasing the strain put on their bodies.

Television In The 1920 s Essay
Television is a gift of God and God will hold those who utilize his divine instrument
accountable to him Philo T. Farnsworth. In the 1920 s life in America, and around the
world, was blossoming with excitement and shock due to all the new things
happening around them. For instance, women were re imagining the rules of
feminism, alcohol was being banned everywhere, secret clubs were being brought up,
and also the televisioncoming to life. The television had to be the most talked about
thing in the 1920 s. All because a random guy decided he wanted to experiment with
things and later created the television. Not only was the television invented around
this time, but a year after it was he demonstrated it. Then shortly after demonstrating

When Philo was growing up he didn t have electricity in his house. So he later
thought about shining a new light into the world of electricity. He created to
television by using a disc about 2 feet in diameter to scan and transport the image
onto the television screen. He used a glass slide, smoked it with carbon and
scratched a single line on it. This was placed in a carbon arc projector and shone
onto the photocathode of the first camera tube(Philo T. Farnsworth) .He also used
a disc about 2 feet in diameter to scan and transport the image onto the television
screen. Farnsworth had begun to conceive of a system that could capture moving
images in a form that could be coded onto radio waves and then transformed back
into a picture on a screen(Mitchell Stephens). He also used an image dissector , also
known as a video camera tube, to make the image transfer from one thing to another.
While creating the television he married a young woman named Pem Gardner. After
they got married he was very in depth in his research for the television. He then
decided to do something with his research and accepted a position at Philco
Philadelphia. After the years went by he then left there and got his own place for his
research. Farnsworth sold his company , but continued his research on

The Two Theorists Of Working With Others
Learning as a group consisted of working with others but also figuring out how to
work with others. A person needs to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of
their group to properly understand how to function efficiently in a group. If the
members in the group are not able to work together and argue for the majority of
the time, no work will get done. I had the luxury of having to deal with this task of
having to discover which methods would work in order to work with others well
and efficiently make a quality film. From past experiences, I have learned that
groups work together well when everyone is on the same page. No one is confused
and rarely questioning other people s ideas. Also when communicating ideas, it is
helpful to have everyone brainstorm. With everyone brainstorming about possible
themes or ideas directed towards the project, it makes everyone feel involved in the
process of completing the project and no one is left out. In reading different
theorists, my ideas about how to work in groups was altered. The two theorists in
which I studied and learned from were Knud Illeris and Etienne Wenger. Illeris theory
emphasized that people that were learninghad different backgrounds that affected
their ability to learn. Illeris developed a chart in which the Basis, Internal Conditions,
External Conditions all determined how people learned and how they applied the
knowledgethat they had. The Basis consists of the biology, psychology, and social
science of the
Analysis Of Bolsa Familia Springs From A Long Tradition
Of...
Bolsa Familia springs from a long tradition of welfare and development strategies in
Latin America. Economic and social development are of central concern to
governments and development agencies worldwide due to their direct link to
equality. This can be explained through the well defined link between income levels
and health, education and nutritional outcomes, emphasizing the importance of
addressing inequality in order to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty. Thus,
reducing inequality is central to the success of policy initiatives, as the Bolsa Familia
s strong focus on developing human capital is what makes it a poverty reduction
program rather than a social assistance one (Fitzbein et al, 2009: 11). Targeting

Figure 1: Social security, health, and education expenditure in Brazil
Source: Haggard and Kaufmann, 2008: 388.
Welfare can be defined as the minimum level of responsibility of the state for its
citizens this is what I will attribute to social security in Figure one. Welfare can be in
the form of a steady base transfer, in order to provide ongoing, or short term payments
to alleviate financial hardship. In contrast, human capital accumulation (HCA) can be
attributed to investments in education and health (Figure 1). HCA is the increased
education, health and productivity of potential workers, to which social security is
only a precondition. It is a central driver of human and economic development. Thus,
Bolsa Familia s conditionality is what distinguishes it from a welfare scheme to a
poverty assistance scheme. Furthermore, the conditionality aspect of cash transfers is
what assures requirements regarding human capital accumulation will be met.
CCTs are a site of convergence of international and statist development policy
initiatives, which are played out at the community level by administrators and agents
on the ground. Thus, Bolsa Familia is led by governments, endorsed by the World
Bank, and implemented by local authorities. CCTs are seen as an alternative to more
traditional and paternalistic approaches to social assistance (de la Briere and
Rawlings, 2006: 6). It is this level of decentralisation which contributes to their appeal

Buffalo Blitz Research Paper
Buffalo Blitz
Buffalo Blitz
Playtech have had a relatively quiet summer, when it comes to new slot machine
games. Whilst several of their competitors have been churning out the new releases,
Playtech had been holding back for reasons best known to themselves. That was until
recently, when they officially unveiled their latest new slot machinegame, Buffalo
Blitz.
Calling Buffalo Blitz a new slot is a bit misleading. Whilst it certainly is new for
Playtech, you may have spotted some of the features, and indeed the theme before.
The slot bears a striking resemblance to WMS Gaming s Raging Rhino, complete
with the 4,096 paylines that it carries over its 6 reel format. Raging Rhino was
certainly an impressive slot when it was released 2 years ... Show more content on

Playtech have chosen not to go out of their depth, by keeping wagers nice and
simple. Rather obviously, you cannot wager on a bet per line basis, but your wagers
are still kept nice and cheap, with the betting range stemming from 0.40 up to 200.00
per spin.
What we do not like
Although there are stacked symbols in this slot (in the form of a high paying buffalo
symbol), we don t like them. They are only really useful if they appear on the first
three reels, and this doesn t happen often. Instead, they hog space on the reels
uselessly, denying you potential wins, which is quite infuriating.
Whilst we re on it, we re not that keen on the theme either. Yes, it features buffalo
blazing across the open plain, but you have to ask yourself; if it wasn t for
Playtech s need to take on Raging Rhino head to head, what would this slot s theme
really be? It could have been really special, because the current theme is a little bit on
the boring side.
Worth playing?
For all its sticking points, Buffalo Blitz is still worth a look. If you can t get your
hands on Raging Rhino, this slot will certainly do. If you love large numbers of
paylines, and cheap bets, this slot will do. If you are after something really original
and creative from Playtech, Buffalo Blitz doesn t exactly tick many
Dental Hygiene And Dental Prevention
Dental Hygiene When most people think of good health they think of doctors,
however dental health can be just as important. Regular dental care can help
prevent numerous other illnesses. Dental hygienists are the professionals who
teach and aid in taking care of all of your oral hygiene needs. Dental hygienists
clean teeth, examine patients for signs of oral diseases such as gingivitis, and
provide other preventative dental care. ( Summary Dental Hygienists ) Dental
hygiene goes way back to the times of the Ancient Egyptians. The educational
requirements to become a dental hygienist are short. The minimum education to
become a dental hygienist is an associate s degree. The history of dental hygiene
started back many years during the Sumerian times. The earliest known writing
about tooth disease was an ancient Sumerian text that dates to about 5,000 B.C.
accusing tooth worms of burrowing into teeth thus forming characteristic holes of
tooth decay, a superstition that persisted through the Middle Ages in Asia, the
Middle East, and Europe. (Byers 1) Years later, the ancient Egyptians increased
their knowledge on dental care. The Ancient Egyptians were some of the first
people to develop specialized dental care techniques. (Libal 48) Many dental
procedures have existed for thousands of years... Some practices go back to the
Egyptian empire of 2,000 B.C. (Byers 2) The Chinese people were some of the first
people to take care of their teeth at home with

Josh got a call at work from an old high school friend that would be in town that
month, and Josh invited him to stay at his house for the weekend, without first
checking with Linda. Linda was upset when she heard this news because she was
away on business the week before and that Friday was to be her first night home.
Linda was less upset by that fact, and more upset that Josh had made plans without
checking with her first, she would never make plans with anyone without checking
with Josh, and didn t understand why he couldn t show her the same courtesy. This
conflict affected Linda and Josh perhaps more so than another couple because it hit
their primary concerns. Linda was hurt because she felt Josh didn t care as much
about her as she did for him. And Josh was hurt because he felt that Linda was trying
to control him, and limit his freedom. Many women feel that it is expected for them
to consult with their partners at every turn, while men automatically make more
decisions without asking their partners. Women may try to initiate a relaxed
conversation by asking What do you think? while men may feel that they are being
forced to decide. Tannen states that communication is a continual balancing act,
juggling the conflicting needs for intimacy and independence. To survive we need to
act with concern for others but also survive for ourselves. There has always been a
common stereotype that women talk too

Wwii
Japanese Canadian Internment WWII
During the beginning of WWII, there were a lot of Japanese Canadians living in
Canada, all of which were either second generation Canadians, Japanese people who
had taken Canadian citizenship or those who were still Japanese nationals. These
Japanese Canadians mainly inhabited British Columbia and smaller villages in the
coastal regions of the west coast. Prior to their internment, Japanese Canadians
suffered great prejudice, discrimination and racism. White people were fearful that
they would lose their dominance due to competition in industries such as fishing,
farming, markets and even in education. The Canadian Government created laws
stating that Japanese Canadians were not allowed to vote, they also had fishing and
farming permits denied, which were supposed to motivate them to move back to
Japan. On top of that, White people also feared that Japan would attempt to expand
into Canada and take it s natural resources due to Japan s expansionist policies that
existed at the time. On December 7th, 1941, Japanese Air Forces attacked the US
forces at Pearl Harbor, pulling the US into the second world war. On the same day,
50,000 Japanese troops attacked Hong Kong, which was a British Colony at the time.
After events the events at Pearl Harbour, anyone living in Canada of Japanese
immigration or descent would be considered an enemy alien . Around this time, Japan
also launched attacks on the Philippines and Malaya, the victories in these

Responding To Texts: Film Study
How do the cinematic techniques (mise en scГЁne, cinematography, editing, and
sound design) work together in the selected scene or sequence to develop the film s
central characters and themes?
Damien Chazelle s Whiplash (2014) follows Andrew Neiman, a fame driven drummer
joins the studio band at a prestigious music school, Shaffer Conservatory where he is
acquainted with the manipulative and vigorous Terence Fletcher who pushes him to
his limits. The salient themes of volatile and manipulative student teacher
relationship, overcoming adversity and relentless pursuit of perfection are
accentuated through cinematic techniques such as mise en scГЁne, cinematography,
and sound design and editing. The scene which exemplifies these themes are when
Andrew Neiman is competing against two drummers, Ryan Connolly and Carl
Tanner, to earn the part of becoming the main drummer of a jazz composition called
Caravan (1936) composed by Duke Ellington.
Chazelle s usage of mise en scГЁne is used to demonstrate the important theme of
volatile and manipulative student teacher relationship. The dimly lit room is
representative of Fletchers personality, throughout the film Fletcher is portrayed as a
manipulative teacher who would go out to any means to get what he desires. The
costumes used in this scene are vital to express the volatile relationship between
Fletcher and his students. During this scene, Connolly is the only drummer to be

Tsunami can be divided into three categories: earthquake tsunami, volcanic tsunami,

volcanoes and earthquakes can induce tsunamis
The volcano is a common form of landform. Under the crust 100 to 150 kilometers,
there is a liquid area with high temperature and high pressure gas containing
volatile components of the molten silicate material, magma. Once magma rushed

Dormant volcanoes , even live but not now erupted, and volcanoes that may be

Descriptive Writing Essay

  • 1. Descriptive Writing Essay Crafting a descriptive writing essay can be both a rewarding and challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies in the intricacies of capturing the essence of a subject through words, painting a vivid picture in the reader's mind. Unlike other types of essays that may rely on analytical or argumentative approaches, descriptive writing requires a finesse in language that goes beyond conveying information – it demands the ability to evoke sensory experiences and emotions. One of the challenges is striking the right balance between providing enough detail to make the scene come alive and avoiding overwhelming the reader with an excess of information. It's like walking a tightrope between being too vague and leaving the reader disconnected, or being too detailed and risking monotony. The choice of words becomes crucial in this delicate dance, as the writer must select expressions that not only accurately describe the subject but also resonate emotionally with the audience. Moreover, maintaining coherence and a logical flow can be challenging when the primary goal is to create a sensory experience. The writer must ensure that the descriptions seamlessly connect, forming a cohesive narrative that keeps the reader engaged from start to finish. Transitions between different elements or aspects of the subject should feel natural, enhancing the overall reading experience. In addition, the challenge intensifies when attempting to infuse creativity into the essay. The writer must think beyond the ordinary, finding unique angles and perspectives to present the subject. This requires a creative mind that can think imaginatively and transform the mundane into the extraordinary through the power of words. While the difficulty of writing a descriptive essay may seem daunting, it is precisely this challenge that makes the process intellectually stimulating. It demands a heightened level of observational skills, a mastery of language, and the ability to engage the reader's senses on a profound level. If you find yourself grappling with the complexities of crafting a descriptive essay or any other academic assignment, assistance is readily available. Services likeHelpWriting.net provide a platform where you can order similar essays tailored to your specific needs, ensuring that your writing meets the highest standards. In this way, the art of descriptive writing becomes a collaborative effort, combining your ideas with the expertise of skilled writers to produce a masterpiece that captivates and resonates. • 2. The Second Amendment Of The United States Constitution Gun control is an ineffective means of reducing both violent, and firearm related crime. Limiting the ability for law abiding citizens to responsibly own arms only reduces their ability to provide to provide security to themselves and their family. It is not the duty of the federal government to dictate what a citizen chooses to legally defend themselves with. The second amendment of the United States Constitution was ratified on the 15 of December, 1791 and was drafted by future president James Madison. The text of the second amendment reads A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. There has been much debate in our country regarding... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Currently in the United states there are over 18,000 firearm laws in place. The first federally mandated firearm law was the National Firearm Act of 1934. This firearm act, which is still in place today, required a Federal Firearms License to be obtained by anyone in the business of buying, selling, and manufacturing firearms. The National Firearms Act also required all NFA firearms to be registered with the Secretary of the Treasury. NFA firearms at the creation of the NFA included rifles and shotguns with a barrel length under 18 inches, machine guns, and firearm silencers. To purchase any of these firearms a $200.00 tax was imposed on every transaction with one of these firearms in an effort to prevent criminals from purchasing such firearms as they were said to have been popular with the gangsters of that era. The Bureau of Alcohol tobacco and Firearms defines a machine gun as a firearm with select fire capabilities. Select fire means that the firearm has both full and semi automatic fire capabilities. Semi automatic means that for every one pull of the trigger, one bullet will be fired. Fully automatic means that for as long as the trigger is pulled, the firearms will continue to fire. On May 19th 1986, the Firearm Owners Protection Act prevented the sale and transfer of machine guns produced after May 1986. This provision excluded machine guns registered before May 1986 and machine guns sold to government agencies. With only

According to Siegal and Povoledo: The burglars climbed to the roof using a ladder, broke through a window, stole the two works and then escaped out the side of the building using a rope... The Italian prosecutors office said that the works had been recovered during an investigation of the Amato Pagano clan of the Camorra Mafia family... One of the gang members arrested in January told the police that the two paintings were in a house in the town of Castellammare di Stabia, near Naples... The paintings were found on Sunday afternoon, wrapped up in a cloth in a small hallway next to a kitchen... At the time of the crime, the estimated value of both works was 4 million euros, or about $4.5 million... Both of the paintings were found without their frames and have suffered some damage. The two paintings were found in pretty good condition, despite the minor damages that was sustained. Yet, after a year later, the art thief named Octave Durham appeared in a 45 minute Dutch television documentary that was shown on the same day the two paintings were officially returned to the museum. Durham and his accomplice, Henk Bieslijn, and the Italian mobster, Raffaele Imperiale were the three main figures who were involved in this heinous organized crime. Durham was convicted in 2004 and he had served over 25 months in prison. He was released from prison in 2006, but returned to prison due to a fail bank robbery. In the Ted Talk How America s public schools keep kids in poverty, by Kandice Sumner she uses her personal experience to show frustration with the education system and how it s racist or biased against blacks and browns. Throughout her whole speech, she talks about educational systems and her kids and how segregation is becoming a thing in schools. She a starts off by saying that her kids are the best then she states the following However, because their real parents aren t rich and, I argue, because they are mostly of color, they will seldom get to see in themselves the awesomeness that I see in them. (Sumner, 2016). Here Kandice makes the point that color students won t see their full potential like she does. Then she keeps on going saying that she lived in a family that wasn t wealthy so her neighborhood wasn t wealthy, so her school wasn t necessarily the best; however that didn t stop her from going to school she would take an hour long bus ride to get a better education. She thought everyone had a life like her but she didn t notice this until she was older how she had access to certain things her kids didn t or her friends from her neighborhood didn t. Then she asks the following Why is a high quality education only exclusive to the rich? (Sumner, 2016) This question is pretty easy to answer. Education is exclusive to rich people because they have money and their parents have connections or know other important or rich people which can help them out. This
  • 5. High Fat And Low Carb Diet Learning that (good) fats are good, and wheat is bad (white or whole, it all has gluten), one may think, What should I eat then? . The answer is a high fat and low carb diet. An excellent example of such a diet is called the Paleo diet. Nutritionist Stephanie Eckelkamp discusses the theory behind the Paleo diet, The theory is, our bodies haven t evolved to properly digest these modern foods, which became widely consumed only upon the advent of agriculture 12,000 years ago . Evolution happens very slowly, so our stomachs know the chemistry of meat, fat, and veggies. It knows how to break them down. If the species of felines have been eating meat, then why would anyone start to force all cats to start eating beans and rice? That food wasn t meant for them, and it would probably make them really sick. If humans have been eating meat, fat, and veggies for so long and have been never had a problem with weight, then why is everyone so surprised that large quantities of GMO food (genetically modified food that has been changed in a lab), featuring modern day gluten, has dramatically increased obesity and is killing more people than cigarette smoking? What about the people who have lost weight with the low fat and high carb diet? A recent study done by a Harvard team of professors looks at the difference between high fat and high carb and their effects for weight loss. Amby Burfoot, who wrote an article explaining the study, reported this, After six days, the high carb group

  • 9. CIS610 Information Warfare Class Analysis Starting the third week of CIS610 Information Warfare Class it I had a very good idea of what was expected of me as a student in this class. I was able to determine this based on the quick grading and excellent feedback provided on each of my assignments in week one and two. This allowed me to use this information to improve my work to better meet the expectation of the teacher. Along with this, going into the third week of class I felt as if I had gotten into a schedule which would work best for ensuring the completion of my assignments in an organized and timely fashion. The Third week of this class was designed to cover objectives one, two, and three. Objectives one and two were covered in weeks one and two which allowed week three to take what we had already learned about what information warfare is and the theory of warfare and apply it in our week three assignment trough an anticlerical review of the use of... • 10. Analysis Of George Washington Carver s The Golden Door... George Washington Carver once said Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom. Freedom can be defined in various ways by different people. To many immigrants, America is often seen as that opportunity of freedom, the freedom to learn, the freedom to love, and even just the freedom to exist. In this paper, I will put into words the story behind a second generation female immigrant s experiences. By using various articles and notes given in class, I will talk about her and her familys assimilation process and how their freedom involves the power of education. I interviewed a second generation individual for this paper. I shall call her Margo, for the sake of confidentiality purposes. She is currently a high school student. Margo was born in America to two immigrant parents, making her a second generation immigrant (Feliciano Lec 01/04/16). Both of Margo s parents migrated from Sri Lanka, a small country located by the tip of India. Margo s parents came to America to escape the ongoing civil war that was taking place in Sri Lanka. There was a rivalry between the Tamils and the Sinhalese, two groups of people in Sri Lanka. Being Tamil, her family was faced with so many disadvantages, seeing that the Sinhalese were the dominant group. During the war, her family faced a lot of discrimination. Margo s mom s brother was shot to death in the middle of the street for no reason at all. Tired of all of the injustices faced, Margo s parents decided to migrate to the
  • 11. Analysis of Derek Thompson’s Essay, “How Headphones... Headphones are a necessity for many people in today s society. Headphones allow a person to listen to music without disturbing others; therefore people are listening to music all day while they eat, sleep, or work. In Derek Thompson s essay, How Headphones Changed the World , Thompson addresses the problem of why workers use headphones even if studies have shown that it interferes with their productivity levels. Thompson effectively uses precise language and organizes his essayin a way that shows a breakdown of his thoughts on this topic. These two elements make the essay easy to understand, which enhances the audience s reading experience. To begin with, Derek Thompson uses precise language in his essay which allows for his essay to be easily understood by the general public. First off, Thompson only addresses what is needed for the readers to obtain a good level of understanding about the topic. One can argue that headphones have the capacity to make our music like our thoughts. Something that nobody else can hear. Something we can choose to share (Thompson 3). By reading that quote, the general public is able to clearly understand that headphones can make music like our thoughts, and 2 specific reasons why. There is no further explanation or additional examples, because it is simply not necessary. There is not too little, or too much information and therefore allows for readers to understand the Thompson s ideas clearer. Secondly, he makes his sentences precise. His

Retail Store Manager Retail Manager as TrainerBy Malcolm Fleschner, Monster Contributing Writer Since founding The Friedman Group, a global retail consulting and training organization, in 1980, Harry Friedman has heard plenty of excuses from retail store executives who refuse to provide much training to their front line store employees. One of the most common is: What if I train them, and they leave? Friedman says this is the exact opposite approach they should take. He suggests a better question is, What if I don t train them, and they stay? But when you re asked behavioral questions, the interviewer is listening for specific examples of how you have handled situations or problems in the past. When presented with interview questions beginning with phrases like tell me about a time when or give me an example of the interviewer wants to hear your real life examples. When interviewers ask such behavioral interview questions, they are listening for examples of how you handled situations similar to the ones you may handle for this company. This is your chance to talk about your accomplishments. If you can demonstrate through examples (preferably recent ones) that you ve succeeded in certain areas of interest, you ll likely be considered a strong candidate for the position. After all, if you did it somewhere else yesterday, you can do it for this company tomorrow. Your success stories should include the situation, the action you took and the result. • 13. Essay The Theme of Blindness in King Lear The Theme of Blindness in King Lear In the tragedy King Lear, the term blindness has an entirely different meaning. It is not a physical flaw, but the inability of the characters to see a person for whom they truly are. They can only read what is presented to them on the surface. King Lear, Gloucester and Albany are three prime examples characters who suffered most by having this flaw. Lear was by far the blindest of the three. Because Lear was the King, one would expect him to have superb reasoning skills, but his lack of insight kept him from making wise choices. This is the flaw that led to his downfall. When Goneril and Regan would not provide him with shelter during a furious storm, Lear realized that they were the daughters who did not love him. When Lear and Cordelia finally reunited near the end of the play, Lear expressed his sorrow for what he had done. You must bear with me, I pray you now, forget and forgive:/ I am old an foolish. ( 4, 7. 82 ) But it was too late, Lear s rashness and inability to see clearly had already cost him, and Cordelia their lives. Lear was not the only character to suffer from blindness, Gloucester too, had lack of insight. He could not see the goodness of his son Edgar, and the wickedness of Edmund. A forged letter was the only evidence needed to convince Gloucester that Edgar was plotting to kill him. Immediately after reading the letter Gloucester screams in a rage; O villain, villain! • 22. Mourning Etiquette In The Victorian Era Background on the time period: The Victorian era was the time period between the years 1837 and 1901. It was named after Queen Alexandrina Victoria Guelph who became the Queen of Britain and Ireland. When her husband, Prince Albert died December 14, 1861, at the age of 42, Queen Victoria went into deep mourning, which she remained in until her death. Toward the end of the 19th century, people and trends were changing as were the thoughts on mourning etiquette. The Queen of England, being the biggest trend setter of the day, kept mourning a tradition, most followed her example and continued to practice strict mourning etiquette until after her death and the start of the 20th century. Quality of life had improved for the average person by the Victorian Era. People expected to live long lives and when young people died, which they frequently did, it was seen as tragic and terrible. During the 19th century death was a constant fact of life. People died from disease, lack of proper medical care, inadequate food, poor sanitary conditions, accidents on the farm, fire, and war. The Industrial Revolution just added on to the list of things you could die from. It created an environment in which accidents led to the deaths of many workers who were men, women, and even children. The most common death for women was related to childbirth complications. The average person s lifespan was around 50 years of age. The mortality rate for children was especially high. One third of all

The Tragedy Of Sophocles Oedipus Shakespeare, one of the greatest playwrights of the Renaissance era, could have changed Ancient Greek Theatre plays tremendously as his approach was drastically different than that of Greek playwrights. In Oedipus by Sophocles, a curse has been set on the people of Thebes for the previous murderer of their former king Laius. King Oedipusas a child was given a prophecy that he would kill his father and marry his mother and that indeed has occurred as it is proven by witnesses that he was the murderer of the king and that his wife is also his mother. Following this horrible news Oedipus wife commits suicide and Oedipus decides to blind himself, to only then be exiled from Thebes. Shakespeare would have changed many things about how Sophocles wrote Oedipus and one of the first things he would do are establish many settings throughout the story, add much more violence than what Sophocles already provided, and have many time changes instead of having everything crammed into one day. As Oedipus By Sophocles has only one setting because of how Ancient Greek theatre was distinguished, Shakespeare was not restrained, and he would use as many as setting he would need to tell a story. Oedipus occurs at the palace and does not have any setting changes even when Oedipus orders that Creon goes hear Tiresias the blind prophets fortune. Shakespeare would have added a setting change from the palace to Creon visiting Tiresias at his home. We would go from the palace to somewhere far away

It is a procedure that means cutting off the foreskin, or ring of tissue that covers the head of the penis. Circumcision is said to have started many years ago and is a big part is some religions. For example, according to the book of Genesis in the Torah, god made a covenent with Abraham (a Jewish patriarch) in which Abraham and his decendents would be given great land riches, and success. There was only one catch, Abraham, his descendants, any slaves purchased or born in his house hold by the eighth day of life. If any failed to do so then they would be separate from his people and live without the favor of god. Untill this day Jewish people have lived by that and is a strong religious belief. This procedure on the Jews was called a bris or brit milah. Even though circumcision was practiced in different areas of the world, it was first documented in art form by the Egyptians. They circumcised because they believed it was a method of purification. It later started making its way to other cultures, but nobody really knows why the practice spread nor why it even started. Many other countries removed the foreskin because they believed it marked entrance into adulthood, to humiliate enemies, to identify those with higher social status, to enhance or limit sexual pleasure. Also having your penis circumcised helped make it easier to maintain clean. Normally circumcision was done at the age where they thought was

Social welfare policy includes social security, justice, unemployment insurance, living conditions, health care, child protection, and educational policy. During the English Poor Laws, it provided relief for the poor as well as work for the able bodied in workhouses. The primary goal for social welfare policies is to reduce poverty. President Ronald Reagan proposed the Trickle Down method which was a theory that provided economic benefits to those with upper level incomes. In the past, these social welfare programs was not enough to dismiss the issues of inflation and equality within the economic system. Social Welfare policies have developed over the years but there is still a ongoing issue on poverty. According to the Census on poverty, In 2016 there were 40.6 million people in poverty, 2.5 million fewer than in 2015 and 6.0 million fewer than in 2014 (Semega and Kollar 2017). Welfare assistance may result in families being trapped in poverty. Some may argue that one of the reasons why there is poverty in America now is due to social welfare programs that give a minimal amount of money to aid the poor. According to Eternity, facts and figures on the subject of poverty must be parsed: There are beggars living paycheck to paycheck, a step away from slipping into poverty. I was thinking that Frost wanted to basically put a question on our minds, If you had to choose a way to die would you choose fire or ice? In lines seven through nine, To say that destruction ice is also great and would suffice . To me this is saying you would have to choose the lesser of the two evils. Weighting the pros and cons of the two. Asking which one is better for you, a cold slow death or a hot slow death. But in the end of the poem Frost is saying the no matter which one he picks they are both going to give you the same results, death. To analyze the poem better I took each word as if it symbolized a certain characteristic. In lines three and four, From what I ve tasted of desire I hold those who favor fire it led me to believe that Frost was trying to use desire as a metaphor to fire. Desire, can usually be used a negative or a positive manner depending on the context it s use. In the poem I think that Frost is using it in a negative sense, because he is uses words like end, perish, and destruction in the poem. The Competency Of The Educator Students who are taught key skills and strategies in reading instruction often develop into more proficient readers than those who are not provided with these skills in an explicit and systematic way. As formal reading instruction for many students commences in the foundation year of school, it is the role of the educator to model and explain the key components of literacy to students. Research on effective reading instruction suggests that students benefit when they learn concepts of print, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension (National ReadingPanel, 2000). Moreover, reading instruction needs to be supported by effective teaching strategies that include modelled reading aloud, shared book reading, guided... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through a balanced approach, educators make decisions on individual student s literacy needs and select appropriate instructional activities with the goal of developing, value, comprehension, and enjoyment of reading (Cowan, as cited in National Education Psychological Service [NEPS], 2015, p. 8). However, research concludes there is no definitive description of what a balanced approach to literacy means and they all have similar elements. To put it another way, effective educators of reading instruction offer a print rich balanced reading program that incorporates explicit and systematic instructions in concepts of print, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. These reading skills develop as educators model and scaffold engaging activities, for instance, read aloud s, shared, guided, and independent reading, rhymes, and songs. These activities are the underpinnings of a successful literacy program (Winch, Johnston, March, Ljungdahl, Holliday, 2006, p. 155). A balanced reading approach also provides students opportunities to repeat and practice skills as educators observe and assess student s abilities. Therefore, educators must explicitly instruct literacy skills from foundation to year twelve because they are essential to academic growth. Explicit teaching is a systematic and carefully planned approach that effectively teaches students the key skills of literacy.

A discipline of scientific inquiry, developmental psychology recognizes humans of all societies and cultures as beings who are in process, or constantly growing and changing. This discipline identifies the biological, psychological, and social aspects that interact to influence the growing human life span process. Within the last 25 years, developmentalist s researchers who study human development expanded their focus to include the study of the physical, motor, cognitive, intellectual, emotional, personality, social, and moral changes that occur throughout all stages of the life span (cliff notes).... This is the stage when thoughts are better conserved, more logical and more thought out. More hypothetical thinking occurs in this stage. I believe that any of these stages can be affected by many factors. These factors include environment and surroundings, genes, and everyday interactions. As a parent I feel that it is very important to have day to day interaction with your child whether they are newborn or a teenager. I have a 5 month old son and a seven year old daughter. It is imperative to both of their development for one on one time and interaction as well as family time. At this point BMW has showcased its fleet of hydrogen powered vehicle very successfully and hope s to have the cars on the market in Europe in 2005. Before thinking that Hydrogen is ready for use right now, it should be noted that there are issues to be resolved to make this system work as perfectly as it should. As mentioned earlier, BMW has achieved some measure of success with their hydrogen fueled vehicles, but what was not mentioned is that in order for this fuel to work properly in these cars, it has to be compressed enough to provide the required amount to make it practical (around 400 miles from a full tank) therefore it has to be cooled to a temperature of 423 degrees Fahrenheit. BMW has safely achieved this with its fuel tank, but now needs to make the fuel tank cost effective and mass produce it. If it were not cooled, the fuel tank would be too large for any automobile. Also the fuel tank would have to be insulated and designed to keep it at that temperature and because it is compressed it would need to withstand 10,000 psi В– 50 times the pressure of a normal gas tank. The infrastructure is a large problem to overcome: how to begin manufacturing, storing and building or retrofitting fueling stations across the nation, this in itself is an enormous economic undertaking to overcome. It will require a commitment from the private and government sector similar

The Mitsubishi Lancer has a number of safety features which are proven to increase overall safety along with increasing the chance of survival in an accident. Seatbelts Definition= A seat belt is a vehicular safety device designed to secure the occupant of a vehicle against harmful movement that may result during a collision or a sudden stop. Seatbelts are used so that the occupant is not thrown forward during a vehicle crash, as a result of inertia. Inertia is the tendency to stay in the same state of either moving, or not moving, and because of this, anything inside of a car when it crashes wants to continue to move forward. Seatbelts restrict the space for the occupant to move, keeping them in their place, and stopping them from moving forward. Seatbelts also spread the load exerted on the body to the areas that can handle the force, such as the chest and hips. Seatbelts are one of the major safety features of a car, as without them, a person is almost certain to die in a collision. Seatbelts however, increase the chance of survival by 45%. As seen from the images below, seatbelts decrease both force and g s applied on their user during a collision, decreasing the strain put on their bodies.

A person needs to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of their group to properly understand how to function efficiently in a group. If the members in the group are not able to work together and argue for the majority of the time, no work will get done. I had the luxury of having to deal with this task of having to discover which methods would work in order to work with others well and efficiently make a quality film. From past experiences, I have learned that groups work together well when everyone is on the same page. No one is confused and rarely questioning other people s ideas. Also when communicating ideas, it is helpful to have everyone brainstorm. With everyone brainstorming about possible themes or ideas directed towards the project, it makes everyone feel involved in the process of completing the project and no one is left out. In reading different theorists, my ideas about how to work in groups was altered. The two theorists in which I studied and learned from were Knud Illeris and Etienne Wenger. Illeris theory emphasized that people that were learninghad different backgrounds that affected their ability to learn. Illeris developed a chart in which the Basis, Internal Conditions, External Conditions all determined how people learned and how they applied the knowledgethat they had. The Basis consists of the biology, psychology, and social science of the

Welfare can be defined as the minimum level of responsibility of the state for its citizens this is what I will attribute to social security in Figure one. Welfare can be in the form of a steady base transfer, in order to provide ongoing, or short term payments to alleviate financial hardship. In contrast, human capital accumulation (HCA) can be attributed to investments in education and health (Figure 1). HCA is the increased education, health and productivity of potential workers, to which social security is only a precondition. It is a central driver of human and economic development. Thus, Bolsa Familia s conditionality is what distinguishes it from a welfare scheme to a poverty assistance scheme. Furthermore, the conditionality aspect of cash transfers is what assures requirements regarding human capital accumulation will be met.
