Perverse Portraits Of Phallic Power In Flannery OConnor
Because Enoch is such a physically driven character, he often highlights the novel s theme and irony
with just his actions, but there are many instances where characters exemplify irony and theme with
only their thoughts and beliefs. Hazel pursues Sabbath Lily Hawkes thinking that she is an innocent
young woman he can corrupt but finds that she is actually very experienced and looking to seduce
him. This sets about events such as Hazel destroying the mummy Enoch gives him and forcing
Sabbath to leave (O Connor 189). Hazel initially decides to pursue her to get closer to Asa Hawkes,
but that proves to be no help. Hazel, as an example of irony, is later seduced by Sabbath as she calls
him the king of the beasts (O Connor 106). This reveals her to not be the pure soul Hazel had assumed
and after sleeping with her, he feels troubled (O Connor 170). White Trash, Low Class, and No Class
at All: Perverse Portraits of Phallic Power in Flannery O Connor s Wise Blood, states that Sabbath, as
well as the audience, knew that Sabbath was looking to seduce Hazel because he wanted nothing but
Jesus, but when Sabbath tells Hazel this, he forces her out of his car and out of his life (Paige 332).
This represents the novel s theme because sleeping with Sabbath after her seducing him forced Hazel
to look at his reasoning, which is what drove him to self mutilation and suicide.
Hazel s incorrect beliefs stretch beyond his thoughts of Sabbath, and he even proves himself to be a
hypocrite

Growth of the Automobile Industry in India
The automobile industry is the fastest growing sector in India. Growth in consumption patterns has
encouraged tremendous improvement in manufacturing sector and the auto industry has been growing
at a rapid pace recording over 2.06 million four wheelers (passenger cars, light, medium and heavy
commercial vehicles, multi utility vehicles such as jeeps), and over 9 million two and three wheelers
(scooters, motorcycles, mopeds, and three wheelers) in 2006 07. (SBH India, 2008)
It was this promising outlook for Indian auto industry that forced Fiat into a collaboration with Tata
Corporation India in 2007. However within few months, troubles were reported and by 2010, it was
officially considered an unfortunate venture since Fiat was losing in terms of sales and profits so
rapidly that it made Fiat and Tata rethink their Joint venture. In 2011, the two companies decide to
reorganize their distribution channels to allow separate distribution facilities.
Fiat Motors had initially planned to sell through Tata dealers but the channel tie up did not prove
profitable as evidenced by sagging sales and in 2011 it was decided that separate dealerships might
work better.
The joint venture agreement with Tata Motors stands. We are altering our marketing strategy. We have
identified 20 cities where Fiat cars will now be sold separately and independently, said Ranjeev
Kapoor, CEO of Tata India. (BS reporters 2011)
Interestingly while Fiat sales were falling by 15 percent in India,

Modernization And Development Towards Democracy
This research paper uncovers the study of modernization and how it correlates to political
development towards democracy. First, it examines the development and origins of the modernization
theory that encompass a number of explanations that connect economic, social and cultural changes
with shifts in political systems. Modernization puts forth the idea that economic development will lead
to cultural and social changes that transform the political behavior of a country s citizens that can
ultimately lead to democratic governments. Subsequently, the paper moves to the empirical evidence
supporting the modernization theory and critiquing the theory s broader applicability. Some critics
would suggest that certain types of economic development could actually destabilize society, rather
than progressing the cultural and social components that provide the starting point for democratic
societies. Meanwhile, others have advocated that wealth does not explain the emergence of
democracy, and that the likelihood that a country remains democratic is higher in richer countries.
Finally, it will look into future avenues in research on the correlation between political development
and modernization. Modernization theory refers to a set of explanations that link economic
development and social changes with the type of political regime that emerges. As countries
economically modernize, they shift from agricultural to industrial societies. Industrialization results in

What Role Does Media Play In Presidential Elections
The role the media played in the 2017 presidential election Media plays an ever increasing role in
presidential elections. The various forms of media affect presidential elections primarily by the slant
each chooses to take in reporting about a candidate or party. The personal bias of a reporter or network
often comes through in a news story, even when it is not intended. This causes major backlash from
candidates and voters alike. Does this apparent bias change the mind of voters or ultimately rig the
outcome of our election? The effect of media bias is obvious when comparing minutes each candidate
is talked about on air. For example, An analysis for CNN s Reliable Sources showed that talk about
Trump totaled 36 minutes

Essay on The History of Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp
Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp was born March 19, 1848, in Monmouth, Illinois. Wyatt s dad was a soldier in
the Mexican War. Wyatt was named after a guy that was the leader of his dad s unit. Wyatt never really
had a permanent home because his dad was a drinker and gambler. Because, of his dad s gambling and
drinking problem he moved his family around a lot and thats why Wyatt didn t have a permanent
home. When Wyatt was thirteen the Civil War broke out, Wyatt wanted to go fight for the union like
his older brothers but he was to young, so he snuck away from home and tried to enlist 3 times but
was found out he was young and was sent home. Since he had to stay home he had to tend 8 acres on

blast from his double barreled shotgun. Wyatt Earp shot Frank McLaury in the stomach, and the
wounded man staggered out into the street but managed to pull his gun and return fire. Meanwhile, Ike
Clanton and Billy Claiborne ran for their lives. The wounded Frank McLaury and Billy Clanton both
managed to get off several shots before collapsing, and Virgil, Morgan, and Doc were all hit. The
sherrif of tombstone watched the gun fight and charged Wyatt Earp with murder then a month later the
charge was taken off. But, despite its name, the gunfight actually occurred in a narrow lot six doors
west of the rear entrance to the O.K. Corral on Fremont Street, and also in the street. Another famous
gunfight Wyatt Earp was known for was killing Curly Bill while leaving Arizona. Wyatt Earp was told

Otariid Rearing Behavior Case Study
Otariid Rearing Behavior
In all otariid species, the male ignores young pups. There is no parental care. Often, the males are even
overly aggressive towards young pups. After parturition, the mother immediately smells the newborn
and vocalizes. The pup can vocalize within minutes of birth. Through these actions, a mother pup
bond is formed. They can then recognize each other and reestablish connections based on smell and
vocalizations (textbook). It is thought that hearing is the more efficient so that vocalizations are better
at distinguishing between individuals (3). This is beneficial in reuniting pup and mother after she
returns from her foraging trip. The female will attack females at risk of endangering their pup. They
will move the pup out of harms way if necessary by way of mouth (3). Pups are rejected by non
maternal females (4). Pups often aggregate with other pups in the same age group normally in areas
away disturbances. Pups receive no instruction in feeding and swimming from the mother. They learn
from their social ties with other pups (3).
Otariid s use a foraging cycle strategy when rearing. On average Otariid species spend 1 to 7 days

Comparison Of The Three Cabritos And The Three Billy Goats...
The Three Cabritos is the retelling of The Three Billy Goats Gruff with a Tex Mex background unlike
the contrary which have more of an American culture background. The author clearly states at the end
of her book, The Three Cabritos is my own original retelling of The Three Billy Goats Gruff with a
Texas twist (Kimmel 29). The background and the writing of the tale but told in different cultures. In
The Three Cabritos and The Three Billy Goats Gruff , the main characters appearances are distinct,
but the story follows the same plot line. The main characters appearances being distinct but the same
story also has a couple dissimilarities. One of the main differences between the two stories is that the
monster in The Three Cabritos is a Cupacabra whereas the monster in The Three Billy Goats Gruff is a
goblin. By changing the monster the author incorporates the Tex Mex culture into the story.
Additionally, the cultural backgrounds are extremely different for example, The Three Cabritos the
scene is a ranch located near the Rio Grande filled with cactus. Also in the sketches, the goats are
cartoon farm animals and the cabritos are dressed in overalls while holding their instruments. In The
Three Cabritos the cabritos are given typical Hispanic culture names: Reynaldo, Orlando, and
Augustin. The purpose for the cabritos to cross the bridge is also a difference between the two stories.
In The Three Cabritos the reason they crossed was to attend a fiesta. The story goes One day the three
cabritos heard there was going to be a fiesta just across the border in Mexico. Lets Go! The three
cabritos said (Kimmel 3). They want to go the fiesta to dance and play all night. In The Three Billy
Goats Gruff takes place on a field of trees and flowers that surround a meadow. In The Three Billy
Goats Gruff exact names are not given, just Little Billy Goat Gruff, Middle Billy Goat Gruff, and
Great Big Billy Goat Gruff. The reason for crossing the bridge was, that they were eating all the grass
on their side and they needed more. The story reads, Yes , said his big brother, Great Big Billy Goat
Gruff. All we have to do is cross the wooden bridge, and we can eat to our hearts content (Randall 3).

Gospel Of Luke Wealth
In the Gospel of Luke, heaven is signified by Jesus Kingdom and can be entered even by those who
sin as long as they repent their sins. Jesus informs human beings that in order to enter his kingdom,
you must be a righteous person at the time of death. The themes of love, wealth, and poverty embrace
Jesus teachings. He states explicitly that you must love thy enemy like you love thy neighbor in order
to be allowed into Heaven. You must bless them, care for them and when stricken on the cheek you
must offer up the other one. In order to love thy neighbor, Jesus tells human beings that they must,
[take] pity on him (Luke 10:35 25 37). Rather than ignore a half dead man like the Priest and Levite,
you must be merciful in order to, love your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He tells humans that, each tree is known by its own fruit , implying that you are loved by Jesus
through your actions rather than your possessions. Any man can do good to someone who does good
to him, but only a good heart can produce good treasure. The theme of love continues to connect with
the themes of poverty and wealth throughout the Gospel of Luke. Rather than being contempt with a
life full of greed, Jesus wants you to share your wealth because, you cannot serve both God and
Money. In order to enter the Kingdom, you must do things for others rather than yourself. If you do
what is righteous you will be blessed and repaid in the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus pronounces in
chapter 12 of Luke that, a man s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions. No matter
how much wealth you have, you are no different than a man who has nothing if you are not kind
hearted. Chapter 12 of Luke ties back to the golden rule stated in chapter 6, line 31; do to other as you
would have them to do to you , If you want to enter Jesus Kingdom you must share your wealth rather
than build a bigger barn and take life easy. If you become choked by life s worries, riches, and
pleasures then you have not retained the word of Jesus and you must not have, a noble and good heart
, therefore, you cannot enter Jesus Kingdom because you have ears that do not hear. The theme of love

Talk Radio Film Analysis
Few film directors can capture the feeling of sheer intensity on screen quite like Oliver Stone.
Whether it be with hyperviolent genre pictures like Natural Born Killers or methodical dramatic
pieces like Wall Street, Stone has a knack for delivering intense and often unsettling narratives and
characters within them, and as such is able to consistently instill in his audience a feeling of
discomfort and disturbia, all while satirizing various facets of American culture. It is somewhat ironic
that one of Stone s most intense films is also one of his more subdued films and less violently graphic
films. The film in question is 1988 s Talk Radio, based on the play of the same name written by Eric
Bogosian, who also stars in both versions. Throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

apologetic lament, calling out his own hypocritical nature. I ask for sincerity and I lie. I denounce the

That s the truth! This remorseful lament quickly turns into another rant, targeting his listeners and

Richardson s cinematography and Bogosian s performance. As he goes into what looks like another
typical Barry Champlain style rant, Bogosian s performance becomes one that is much more somber
and regretful than had been shown before. As he goes on about his audience ganging up on him and
embracing the hatred seen in the country at the time, it becomes evident that the issues he has been

Morals In City Of Lost Souls By Cassandra Clare
The book, City of Lost Souls written by Cassandra Clare, is about a girl named Clary, who is half
angel half human. Clary needs to save her lover Jace who has been brainwashed by her evil brother
Sebastian. Clary must stop Sebastian from summoning an army of demons and starting a war between
good and evil. When I read this novel, I felt envious. I felt this because the ShadowHunters had so
many supernatural abilities compared to humans. For example when we learn that ShadowHunters are
half human half Angel which means that they have the ability to draw runes etc. Runes are drawings
that give them certain powers, for example becoming stronger, becoming invisible and healing etc.
This would be awesome if I had the ability to become invisible or have supernatural strength so that
day to day routines would become easier. If i had these powers I would use them to help people in
distress, like a modern superman. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author seemed to be suggesting that power hungry individuals will do anything to gain their goals
without caring about collateral damage. We see this in the text when Sebastian forces the Iron sisters
to make the Infernal cup. The infernal cup is the opposite to the mortal cup and is made with blood
from a powerful demon named Lilith. The infernal cup turns Shadowhunters into Dark Shadowhunter
and replaces their Angel blood with demon blood, making them evil. This proves that people hungry
for power will do anything and use anybody to get more power. People that hunger for power want
power because they feel like they have to be in control. An example of somebody who is power
hungry is Kim Jong Un. I believe that this kind of behaviour is not acceptable in today s society and
should not be tolerated, because people need to be working together and helping eachother out to

The Miracle of Feeding the 5000 Essay
The first thing that one needs to understand is the true meaning of the miracles Jesus performed, even
though the Devil does not want us to understand the meaning. He loves when we speculate and

responsible for, usually above and beyond natural laws. Baker s Dictionary of the Bible defines a
miracle as Synthesizing the root connotations of these terms, we may define a miracle biblically as an

Jesus also performed a miracle of feeding four thousand (Matthew 15: 32, Mark 8: 1), which is much
like the miracle of Jesus feeding the five thousand. There were many more astonishing acts performed
by the wondrous miracle worker, Jesus. The coin in the fish s mouth, walking on the water, and raising
of Lazarus from the dead, are just a minute amount, out of approximately thirty six. The miracle of
Jesus feeding the five thousand is just one of the many.
Feeding of the multitude is the only miracle besides the resurrection that is present in all four of the
Gospels; Matthew 14: 13 21, Mark 6: 31 44, Luke 9: 10 17, and John 6: 1 15. Jesus performed this
miracle of feeding the multitude of five thousand, with only five barley loaves of bread and two fish.
The basic meaning of all four gospels is the same with a few slight differences. The amount of five
thousand did not include the women or children. According to John A Broadus, the number of these
(woman and children) was probably small in proportion to the men, for otherwise Mark, Luke, and
John would hardly have omitted to mention them.
Matthew and Mark have the most similar writings in regards to this miraculous act, besides a few
minor things. Matthew writes that Jesus feels pity for them and cures the sick but Mark on the other
hand does write that Jesus feels pity, but does not mention healing the sick. In Matthew, the people

unresolved uncertainty that becomes menacing as the story draws to a conclusion. Carver s method is
to leave out details in the course of dialogue, revealing very little despite the heightened sensitivity for

significant sentence the weather turned and the snow was melting into dirty water ( Carver,1981. p.1 ),
which makes the reader understand that the story will develop from something positive to negative.

Raymond Carver uses ordinary language to expose the inability of communicating the reality of
experience through purely referential language. He has been criticized for being a minimalist writer.
Underneath the obviousness of his language, he subverts the simplistic equation of words to meaning.

Corporate Social Responsibility And Sustainability
Introduction
This article is study of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability. It mainly speaks
about the origin and the operations of CSR programs in the United States of America from the 1980 s.
One of the most dominating concepts of business reporting is Corporate Social Responsibility. It has
become mandatory for every business to include a policy with regards to CSR and produce a detailed
report with regards to its activities. CSR can be defined as the relationship between a corporate
company and the society in which the company operates. The concept of CSR became famous during
the late 1960 s and since then it has helped corporations to sustain itself in the market.
CSR plays a very important role in the sustainability of every department in the corporation including
marketing and management. Corporations are very particular in maintaining a sustainable corporate
socially responsible environment. While marketing a product they make sure that they endorse it in
the right way as it is the responsibility of the company to provide the right facts of the product to the
society. In the same manner with regards to Management corporations make sure that they are socially
responsible.
Three Principles put together can help us understand CSR in a much better way.
 Sustainability: Sustainability shows how actions taken in the present affect the future. Marketing a
product would affect the consumption of the product in the future, also in the field of

The Centralization And Development Of Urbanization In Africa
Africa is a rapidly urbanizing continent, experiencing tremendous growth and transformation with an
increasing concentration of cities. Today, it boasts a greater number of urban dwellers than Europe,
Australia, North or South America. However, situations were not always so promising. The arrival of
imperialism and the start of colonial rule in the 19th century served to exploit the growth of physical,
economic, and human resources of a flourishing Africa to benefit European powers. By setting severe
economic and social restrictions on things such as trade and education, the Europeans developed a
colonized state which arrested all other natural development of the African system. Nonetheless,
during the approximately five and half decades after independence, citizens began to slowly migrate to
city hubs around the continent as various countries like Ethiopia and Tanzania developed socially and
politically. This movement from rural to urban, a typical mobility characteristic of Africa, resulted in
an expansion of leadership, institutions, and technical domains such design and finance. Urbanization
has thus played a significant role in the development of factors including gender, inequality, and
economic growth, as well as downturn. However, it has presented both opportunities and challenges
which, in turn, have impacted the state of cities in modern day Africa.
Since 1960, African cities have been growing fast, more so than the population. A direct result of this
rapid urbanization has been the growth of opportunities for people seeking a better, comfortable life
with their transition out of rural settings. For decades, this increased centralization has brought various
cultures, perspectives, and talents together in an effort to place Africa on the global, economic scale.
However, a drastic consequence of the growth of cities has been an increased inequality amongst its
members, both economically and in terms of the standard of living. Income inequality creates a
significant discrepancy between the rich and the poor. Whereas large manufacturers enjoy wealth
through their involvement in an export oriented economy, laborers work through grueling hours in
tiring conditions to earn minimum wage which can barely

Capitalism Essay
Capitalism
Throughout my duration in college, business has been my major area of concentration. Capitalism is
the most central and consequential topic which has to do with business. The ideals of capitalism, over
time, have faced much scrutiny. Many great minds within the past two centuries have discredited
capitalism, for the virtues of socialism and the whole of society. It is my intent to put forth a moral
justification of the ideals behind capitalism. Ayn Rand said The moral justification of capitalism does
not lie in the altruist claim that it represents the best way to achieve the common good .
It is true that capitalism does, if that catch phrase has any meaning, but this is merely a secondary ...

Assuming that consumers are most concerned with their own self interest, the demand for goods that
are the most useful or helpful for society will arise. Assuming, also, that producers are most concerned
with their own self interest, they will further their own cause by striving to produce those goods which
will be the most useful to society at the lowest possible cost. Many economists have debated that
capitalism is practical because it allows each individual to align their actions with their own thoughts,
instead of acting under the demands of bureaucrats. A multitude of minds attack each problem under
capitalism. The successful thinkers thrive because they are able to see the opportunities that the other
thinkers do not.
They think of new products and come up with more efficient production methods which are
innovative to their field. Everyone is able to begin a business, raise money, and market his own
product in a free market, and each individual thinker is free to use his own ideas, and his success or
failure is based on the merits of his own idea. The successful thinker brings improved and new
products at a lower cost which creates economic advance and opulence. In order to fully understand
capitalism, we must have some understanding of other politico economic systems. Socialism is a
theory of social organization that advocates the ownership and control of industry,

Nimrud Research Paper
The remains of the city, Nimrud, tell many stories about itself throughout its lifespan. Even though
most of the remains left today were destroyed by an Islamic terrorist group, we can still replicate,
through the architecture, the lives of the Nimrud people. Through the statues built and the reliefs on
the walls we can determine the everyday lives, wars, and divinity that the people of Nimrud lived
among.
Sir Layard was the first to head an excavation team at Nimrud. He choose this site considering his
earlier travels near Nimrud. One of his major find was the sculpture of the King Ashurnasirpal II.
From the expedition were two colossal winged lions, which Layard insisted be kept intact, unlike
similar lamassu from Khorsabad that had been cut into smaller sections for their transportation to the
Louvre Museum. Layard moved his winged lions whole, much in the same way they had originally
been transported to Nimrud in antiquity. His findings were shipped to The British Museum where they
became the centerpiece of their art. 1 This sentence from his book shows how much he wanted to
preserve the art and architecture of Nimrud. Sir Layard wanted to keep these pieces in a whole ...

A Mouth Sweeter Than Salt Review
Toyin Falola s memoir, A Mouth Sweeter Than Salt, portrays one boy s views on the culture and
customs of his county from his perspective as an active participant as well as an observer. From
determining his mother s age to joining in the struggle to free an innocent man, Dr. Falola s journey
growing up in Nigeria embodies the rich, diverse history that defines Africa. The opening of the novel
places the reader not in Falola s shoes as a child, but rather as an adult scholar attempting to procure
information from his own family. This proves easier said than done as Falola takes us through the
process of obtaining specific dates in a society that deems them irrelevant. By examining the difficulty
that Falola has in this seemingly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Education proves to be a major factor in this transition, as the newly educated class demands higher
standards of living and white collar jobs. Falola is able to give a face to the topics and issues that we
have been discussing in class. Little details such as how imported foods change the taste buds of
students and prepare them for a future that would enslave them in the global economy (Falola 145). As
a student who has eaten cafeteria food for many, many years this is a concept that I can identify with
and allows me to see the subtle ways in which the Western world has tainted traditional African
culture. Another major event, Pasitor s attempt to free Jakobu, leads the reader step by step through
the escalating corruption of the government and demonstrates how it directly affects the lives of the
citizens. However, while the reader can imagine what it looked like to live in Africa during these times
of change and hardship, the memoir does not give any indication of what it felt like. The lack of
emotional connections in the text was disappointing and it made it harder to connect on a personal
level with Falola s experiences. In this regard, the book failed to live up to my expectations. Falola s
memoir places the reader in the midst of historical and cultural events by viewing them through the
eyes of a young boy. This personal context allows the reader to better

Cadbury Shweppes Company Case Study
Trust is defined as the willingness to be vulnerable to a trustee based on positive expectations about
the trustees actions and intentions (Colquitt p. 205). Trust is one of the biggest aspects in the
organizational realm. In order to instill proper work ethics, you must trust that your employer is
instilling the correct values, and vice versa, you must trust that your employees will carry out those
work ethics when not being monitored closely, or in other words Integrity, defined as the perception
that the authorities adhere to a set of values and principles that the trustor finds acceptable (Colquitt P.
209). Without trust, a company cannot stand strong. The Cadbury Schweppes Company has
exemplified great leadership in the trust category, as they have been a forerunning company for nearly
fifty years. The Cadbury Schweppes Company is categorized into two main areas, confectionery and
beverages. Even more popularly known for Cadbury eggs, and Schweppes ginger ale. To be admired
as a great company to work for and one that is socially responsible to its communities and consumers
across the globe (Cadbury Schweppes), was a statement made by the Cadbury Schweppes Company
under their core purposes . This goal clearly states Cadbury Schweppes responsibilities and recognizes
that what it does as a business impacts on communities and the lives of consumers (Cadbury

Persuasive Essay Homelessness
As someone who lived on $8,000 for 2 years, Veronica Harnish says, Blaming personal failures for
their circumstances merely provides an excuse for not responding to the real causes of homelessness.
The issue at hand is that there is as many as 3.5 million homeless people in America as of 2017. A
quarter of these people are children and we need to find a way to help this generation and the next
from not having a safe place to sleep, or a job to make money, or even just a place to have fun without
any worries. By developing shelters, giving young children a place to feel safe and have fun, or
helping the homeless find jobs that they couldn t get before, we can help our generation and future
generations fix homelessness. All of these solutions are ways that we can help the homeless.
The first and foremost solution deals with jobs and finding a source of income. Many people don t
have a chance to get an income, or they just had a bad experience that left them dry. This should not
make them homeless. These are reasons why it is important to help homeless people find jobs. One
example is a program sponsored by the US Department of Labor, called HVRP(Homeless Veterans
Reintegration Program). It helps war veterans who come home from war get education, training and
even counseling services to help find a job. So far, this program has helped over 8,000 members
veterans find jobs. According to Frederico Juarbe, Jr, Through last year s HVRP grant, St. Patrick

trade and financial city with very imposing skylines throughout the city. Around most attractions,
there are multiple pubs serving beer locally made in Germany because Germany is famous for their

about the world and the city. Most people do not visit Frankfurt because most people are connecting
flights to other cities when they land, but the people who stay want to know more and just want to see
the city they came to visit. Most people who visit Frankfurt during the holidays, visit the Christmas
market. Most people visit the market at night because of all the light they have, and it is one of the
best places to visit when people come to Frankfurt. Also, Frankfurt has also long been an important
center for culture and tourism activities, its huge trade fair complex, and Frankfurt host a lots of
important events such as the Frankfurt Book Fair along with many fine museums, galleries, and

Solar Walls(Thermal Storage Walls)
According to Architecture 2030, the key to preventing the impending loss of our polar ice caps is to
reduce our use of coal, which is used to generate electricity. Mazria, the founder of Architecture 2030,
recommends we reduce our use of coal first by using passive solar solutions, and then by
supplementing those solutions with active eco friendly technologies to get us to cut emissions.

as well as the exterior glazing and insulated panel materials. Operating costs for solar walls are zero

 It was also believed that the installation of direct gain water walls can also reduce the excessive
glare from the direct sunlight to workable levels. Therefore ultra violet damage to goods and

The Pay For Performance Incentive Program
Abstract
The Pay for Performance incentive program is a new program being implemented across the United
States to measure the quality of care within health care organizations. There are both positive and
negative aspects of the Pay for Performance program that are based on information received from
organizations who have implemented the program within their organization. The regulations the
Federal Government has developed requirements for hospitals who serve Medicare patients as well as
establishing four metrics that are used to measure the quality of the employee. Employees who work
at an organization are given the opportunity to opt out of the Pay for Performance incentive program.
This gives the employee the ability to make decisions on their income potential. Pay for Performance
is a new aspect of the health care industry and will be used within the industry to measure quality of
employees for the foreseeable future.
Quality Health Care and Pay for Performance Incentives Pay for performance has been a topic debated
for many years in a wide range of professional settings as a way to increase employee productivity by
basing their pay on the quality of the employee s performance. Pay for Performance used within the
medical community is defined as a payment system that offers financial rewards to medical
professionals who meet or exceed specified benchmarks ( Pay For , 2009). Most approaches adjust the
payments to physicians and hospitals on the basis of

Physics Of Physics And Engineering Mechanics
By the time I reached senior high school, I knew I wanted to study mechanical engineering, but I hadn
t decided on a focus. Then, near the end of my junior year, I attended a family function at my aunt and
uncles house. A number of my siblings and cousins had piled onto their trampoline, and eventually a
bracket in the underside of the trampoline failed. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but my uncle, who
worked for Elliot Group, mentioned that a simple finite element model should have been able to
identify the design deficiency. At the time, I didn t even know what finite element analysis was, so I
did some research when I got home. What I found was a field that exactly suited my interests in
applied mathematics and engineering mechanics. Since then, I have taken every opportunity possible
to expand my knowledge of computational mechanics, and I hope to further that effort at the
University of Illinois. My academic experience began freshman year of college, when I took a course
on computational methods in engineering. As it was an honors course, the curriculum was extremely
aggressive. We covered basic programming in both C++ and MATLAB, a number of numerical
methods, and how to write strong technical papers. Since then, I have taken more advanced courses,
but this one had the greatest effect on me because it impressed upon me the vast potential of
computation methods. Many of the problems that are difficult to solve analytically could now be
solved in the blink of an eye,

The Bloodless Revolution Of 1800
The Bloodless Revolution of 1800 was a very important event that shaped our nation into what it is
today. The Revolution changed America s history in major ways. The twelfth amendment was created
and the party divisions that we see today in our modern government are results of the conflict. The
revolution was also a test: could the young nation of America shift power peacefully, as the founding
father s had intended? Or would everything collapse after only one president leading the country? The
Bloodless Revolution of 1800 was an event that changed our nation s history an ways of government
in many important ways. But in order to understand fully the whole effect this event had on our
nation, we must look back a few years before 1800 to the Neutrality Proclamation, the John Jay
Treaty, X Y Z Affair, and the Quasi War.
George Washington, in his second term of office, issued the Neutrality Proclamation in an attempt to
ease the tension and conflict with Britain caused by The French Revolution. Thomas Jefferson, being
so disgusted with Washington s policies, resigned his secretarial position in May of 1793, when the
proclamation was announced. Despite Washington s attempt to fix the conflict, British ships continued
to confiscate American merchant ships because they, in an attempt to remain neutral, continued to
trade with both France and Britain. War soon broke out after that between the new French Republic
and the European Monarchs, much to the

Critical Analysis Of Madame Bovary

A Fantasy World
In Madame Bovary, Gustave Flaubert shapes Emma, the protagonist, into a woman who deceives
herself, through romantic novels, into believing her life is better than it actually is. Emma like most
things in her life romanticized what marriage would do for her. At the start of her marriage to Charles,
she believed marriage would be the means at which she transitioned from a farm girl to a wealthy
woman. She believed that marriage would bring her all she had longed for. However, her marriage to
Charles is opposite to that. Thus, she is constantly searching for something or someone to satisfy her.

Flaubert use of they and them, further separates Emma from the festivities of the upper class.
Additionally, as Emma is preparing for the ball, she is striving to appear as extravagant as possible.
She did her hair according to the directions of the hairdresser, and put on the barege dress (Flaubert,
42 44) Thus, Flaubert emphasizes that Emma s is unable to prepare for the ball without directions
implying that she is not able to be a part of the upper class events without guidance. Therefore, her
only connection to the upper class at the ball are her clothes. Also, Flaubert further separates Emma
and Charles from the rest of the guest, by having them arrive in a dog cart (Flaubert, 41). Hence,
Flaubert advocates that no matter how much the middle class aspires to be a part of the upper class
through material items they will never have the means to do so. Flaubert further emphasizes the
separation between Emma and the rest of the guests when he writes: Emma was listening to a
conversation full of words she did not understand (Flaubert, 45). Flaubert is highlighting how out of
place Emma is, yet how aloof Emma remains. She is still listening even though she doesn t understand
what they are saying. Overall, Flaubert utilizes perspective in order to highlight Emma s aspirations to
be a part of the upper class, through her appearance and material items. Ultimately, Flaubert is
critiquing the French middle class in that

Group Development And Interaction Theory Essay
Group Development and Interaction Theory
Within the business setting, the shift from yesterday s singular culture to today s team culture has
brought about a new era of learning, development, and innovation. However, this shift has also
brought with it a certain amount of dissatisfaction, conflict, and confusion. This paper will focus on
the Tuckman Theory, and discuss how Tuckman s five stages of group development and interaction
applies to the work environment and leadership effectiveness.
The Tuckman Theory
Tuckman s theory maintains that groups enter four foreseeable and elementary stages of development,
and each of these stages contain both task and maintenance functions. These stages are Forming,

Storming. When important issues are beginning to be addressed within the team, the patience of some
team members may begin to break down and confrontations begin. The majority of these initial
confrontations may relate to the work of the group itself, or to roles and responsibilities within the
group. However, most of these minor confrontations will be taken lightly or dealt with promptly.
In order to progress to the next stage, group members must move from a testing and proving mentality
to a problem solving mentality. Hopefully, everyone will agree that the most important thing is to
finish the work and agree to work together to solve their problems. It is important to note that to move
on to the next stage group members need the ability to listen to each other (MacLeod, 2002).
Some team members may welcome these minor squabbles in that they can reveal the real issues
among the team, while others will wish they were still in the comfortable confines of forming. This is
also the stage when team members will look for ways to avoid or mediate conflicts more effectively.

that there are more crooks in an expensive school since in a society only upper class and some middle
class people would be able to afford to go to an expensive school. People would think the types of
people that go to an expensive school must be respectable and have a good nature, since they are
trying to become educated and prepared for the world. Instead, according to Holden there are more

Hurricane Andrew is a storm that destroyed South Florida, and the Bahamas, and ripped through

Hurricane Andrew was formed of the west coast of Africa on August 14. When it passed the
Caribbean, the pressure system made it stronger. From there, the wave moved the storm to the North
Atlantic. People had started to leave the area right before the Hurricane started. Schools and
businesses were shut down, it hit Dale County Florida at 5:00 a.m. August 24, and it was high tide
when the waves hit. There was weird lightning streaks of blue greenish colors, and thick streams of

  • 2. Perverse Portraits Of Phallic Power In Flannery OConnor Because Enoch is such a physically driven character, he often highlights the novel s theme and irony with just his actions, but there are many instances where characters exemplify irony and theme with only their thoughts and beliefs. Hazel pursues Sabbath Lily Hawkes thinking that she is an innocent young woman he can corrupt but finds that she is actually very experienced and looking to seduce him. This sets about events such as Hazel destroying the mummy Enoch gives him and forcing Sabbath to leave (O Connor 189). Hazel initially decides to pursue her to get closer to Asa Hawkes, but that proves to be no help. Hazel, as an example of irony, is later seduced by Sabbath as she calls him the king of the beasts (O Connor 106). This reveals her to not be the pure soul Hazel had assumed and after sleeping with her, he feels troubled (O Connor 170). White Trash, Low Class, and No Class at All: Perverse Portraits of Phallic Power in Flannery O Connor s Wise Blood, states that Sabbath, as well as the audience, knew that Sabbath was looking to seduce Hazel because he wanted nothing but Jesus, but when Sabbath tells Hazel this, he forces her out of his car and out of his life (Paige 332). This represents the novel s theme because sleeping with Sabbath after her seducing him forced Hazel to look at his reasoning, which is what drove him to self mutilation and suicide. Hazel s incorrect beliefs stretch beyond his thoughts of Sabbath, and he even proves himself to be a hypocrite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Growth of the Automobile Industry in India The automobile industry is the fastest growing sector in India. Growth in consumption patterns has encouraged tremendous improvement in manufacturing sector and the auto industry has been growing at a rapid pace recording over 2.06 million four wheelers (passenger cars, light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, multi utility vehicles such as jeeps), and over 9 million two and three wheelers (scooters, motorcycles, mopeds, and three wheelers) in 2006 07. (SBH India, 2008) It was this promising outlook for Indian auto industry that forced Fiat into a collaboration with Tata Corporation India in 2007. However within few months, troubles were reported and by 2010, it was officially considered an unfortunate venture since Fiat was losing in terms of sales and profits so rapidly that it made Fiat and Tata rethink their Joint venture. In 2011, the two companies decide to reorganize their distribution channels to allow separate distribution facilities. Fiat Motors had initially planned to sell through Tata dealers but the channel tie up did not prove profitable as evidenced by sagging sales and in 2011 it was decided that separate dealerships might work better. The joint venture agreement with Tata Motors stands. We are altering our marketing strategy. We have identified 20 cities where Fiat cars will now be sold separately and independently, said Ranjeev Kapoor, CEO of Tata India. (BS reporters 2011) Interestingly while Fiat sales were falling by 15 percent in India, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Modernization And Development Towards Democracy This research paper uncovers the study of modernization and how it correlates to political development towards democracy. First, it examines the development and origins of the modernization theory that encompass a number of explanations that connect economic, social and cultural changes with shifts in political systems. Modernization puts forth the idea that economic development will lead to cultural and social changes that transform the political behavior of a country s citizens that can ultimately lead to democratic governments. Subsequently, the paper moves to the empirical evidence supporting the modernization theory and critiquing the theory s broader applicability. Some critics would suggest that certain types of economic development could actually destabilize society, rather than progressing the cultural and social components that provide the starting point for democratic societies. Meanwhile, others have advocated that wealth does not explain the emergence of democracy, and that the likelihood that a country remains democratic is higher in richer countries. Finally, it will look into future avenues in research on the correlation between political development and modernization. Modernization theory refers to a set of explanations that link economic development and social changes with the type of political regime that emerges. As countries economically modernize, they shift from agricultural to industrial societies. Industrialization results in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Role Does Media Play In Presidential Elections The role the media played in the 2017 presidential election Media plays an ever increasing role in presidential elections. The various forms of media affect presidential elections primarily by the slant each chooses to take in reporting about a candidate or party. The personal bias of a reporter or network often comes through in a news story, even when it is not intended. This causes major backlash from candidates and voters alike. Does this apparent bias change the mind of voters or ultimately rig the outcome of our election? The effect of media bias is obvious when comparing minutes each candidate is talked about on air. When Wyatt got to them he walked up and said You sons of bitches you wanted a fight well now you have one that is a direct quote. The question of which side actually drew their guns first is still debated today, but it s believed that Virgil Earp pulled out his revolver and shot Billy Clanton in the chest at point blank range, while Doc Holliday killed Tom McLaury with a blast from his double barreled shotgun. Wyatt Earp shot Frank McLaury in the stomach, and the wounded man staggered out into the street but managed to pull his gun and return fire. Meanwhile, Ike Clanton and Billy Claiborne ran for their lives. The wounded Frank McLaury and Billy Clanton both managed to get off several shots before collapsing, and Virgil, Morgan, and Doc were all hit. The sherrif of tombstone watched the gun fight and charged Wyatt Earp with murder then a month later the charge was taken off. But, despite its name, the gunfight actually occurred in a narrow lot six doors west of the rear entrance to the O.K. Corral on Fremont Street, and also in the street. • 7. Otariid Rearing Behavior Case Study Otariid Rearing Behavior In all otariid species, the male ignores young pups. There is no parental care. Often, the males are even overly aggressive towards young pups. After parturition, the mother immediately smells the newborn and vocalizes. The pup can vocalize within minutes of birth. Through these actions, a mother pup bond is formed. They can then recognize each other and reestablish connections based on smell and vocalizations (textbook). It is thought that hearing is the more efficient so that vocalizations are better at distinguishing between individuals (3). This is beneficial in reuniting pup and mother after she returns from her foraging trip. The female will attack females at risk of endangering their pup. They will move the pup out of harms way if necessary by way of mouth (3). Pups are rejected by non maternal females (4). Pups often aggregate with other pups in the same age group normally in areas away disturbances. Pups receive no instruction in feeding and swimming from the mother. They learn from their social ties with other pups (3). Otariid s use a foraging cycle strategy when rearing. On average Otariid species spend 1 to 7 days feeding and 1 to 3 days nursing offspring. • 8. Comparison Of The Three Cabritos And The Three Billy Goats... The Three Cabritos is the retelling of The Three Billy Goats Gruff with a Tex Mex background unlike the contrary which have more of an American culture background. The author clearly states at the end of her book, The Three Cabritos is my own original retelling of The Three Billy Goats Gruff with a Texas twist (Kimmel 29). The background and the writing of the tale but told in different cultures. In The Three Cabritos and The Three Billy Goats Gruff , the main characters appearances are distinct, but the story follows the same plot line. The main characters appearances being distinct but the same story also has a couple dissimilarities. One of the main differences between the two stories is that the monster in The Three Cabritos is a Cupacabra whereas the monster in The Three Billy Goats Gruff is a goblin. By changing the monster the author incorporates the Tex Mex culture into the story. Additionally, the cultural backgrounds are extremely different for example, The Three Cabritos the scene is a ranch located near the Rio Grande filled with cactus. Also in the sketches, the goats are cartoon farm animals and the cabritos are dressed in overalls while holding their instruments. In The Three Cabritos the cabritos are given typical Hispanic culture names: Reynaldo, Orlando, and Augustin. The purpose for the cabritos to cross the bridge is also a difference between the two stories. In The Three Cabritos the reason they crossed was to attend a fiesta. The story goes One day the three cabritos heard there was going to be a fiesta just across the border in Mexico. Lets Go! The three cabritos said (Kimmel 3). They want to go the fiesta to dance and play all night. In The Three Billy Goats Gruff takes place on a field of trees and flowers that surround a meadow. In The Three Billy Goats Gruff exact names are not given, just Little Billy Goat Gruff, Middle Billy Goat Gruff, and Great Big Billy Goat Gruff. The reason for crossing the bridge was, that they were eating all the grass on their side and they needed more. The story reads, Yes , said his big brother, Great Big Billy Goat Gruff. All we have to do is cross the wooden bridge, and we can eat to our hearts content (Randall 3). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Gospel Of Luke Wealth In the Gospel of Luke, heaven is signified by Jesus Kingdom and can be entered even by those who sin as long as they repent their sins. Jesus informs human beings that in order to enter his kingdom, you must be a righteous person at the time of death. The themes of love, wealth, and poverty embrace Jesus teachings. He states explicitly that you must love thy enemy like you love thy neighbor in order to be allowed into Heaven. You must bless them, care for them and when stricken on the cheek you must offer up the other one. In order to love thy neighbor, Jesus tells human beings that they must, [take] pity on him (Luke 10:35 25 37). Any man can do good to someone who does good to him, but only a good heart can produce good treasure. The theme of love continues to connect with the themes of poverty and wealth throughout the Gospel of Luke. Rather than being contempt with a life full of greed, Jesus wants you to share your wealth because, you cannot serve both God and Money. In order to enter the Kingdom, you must do things for others rather than yourself. If you do what is righteous you will be blessed and repaid in the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus pronounces in chapter 12 of Luke that, a man s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions. No matter how much wealth you have, you are no different than a man who has nothing if you are not kind hearted. Chapter 12 of Luke ties back to the golden rule stated in chapter 6, line 31; do to other as you would have them to do to you , If you want to enter Jesus Kingdom you must share your wealth rather than build a bigger barn and take life easy. When I read this novel, I felt envious. I felt this because the ShadowHunters had so many supernatural abilities compared to humans. For example when we learn that ShadowHunters are half human half Angel which means that they have the ability to draw runes etc. Runes are drawings that give them certain powers, for example becoming stronger, becoming invisible and healing etc. This would be awesome if I had the ability to become invisible or have supernatural strength so that day to day routines would become easier. • 21. The Centralization And Development Of Urbanization In Africa Africa is a rapidly urbanizing continent, experiencing tremendous growth and transformation with an increasing concentration of cities. Today, it boasts a greater number of urban dwellers than Europe, Australia, North or South America. However, situations were not always so promising. The arrival of imperialism and the start of colonial rule in the 19th century served to exploit the growth of physical, economic, and human resources of a flourishing Africa to benefit European powers. By setting severe economic and social restrictions on things such as trade and education, the Europeans developed a colonized state which arrested all other natural development of the African system. Nonetheless, during the approximately five and half decades after independence, citizens began to slowly migrate to city hubs around the continent as various countries like Ethiopia and Tanzania developed socially and politically. This movement from rural to urban, a typical mobility characteristic of Africa, resulted in an expansion of leadership, institutions, and technical domains such design and finance. Urbanization has thus played a significant role in the development of factors including gender, inequality, and economic growth, as well as downturn. However, it has presented both opportunities and challenges which, in turn, have impacted the state of cities in modern day Africa. Since 1960, African cities have been growing fast, more so than the population. A direct result of this rapid urbanization has been the growth of opportunities for people seeking a better, comfortable life with their transition out of rural settings. For decades, this increased centralization has brought various cultures, perspectives, and talents together in an effort to place Africa on the global, economic scale. However, a drastic consequence of the growth of cities has been an increased inequality amongst its members, both economically and in terms of the standard of living. Income inequality creates a significant discrepancy between the rich and the poor. Whereas large manufacturers enjoy wealth through their involvement in an export oriented economy, laborers work through grueling hours in tiring conditions to earn minimum wage which can barely ... Many economists have debated that capitalism is practical because it allows each individual to align their actions with their own thoughts, instead of acting under the demands of bureaucrats. A multitude of minds attack each problem under capitalism. The successful thinkers thrive because they are able to see the opportunities that the other thinkers do not. Persuasive Essay Homelessness As someone who lived on $8,000 for 2 years, Veronica Harnish says, Blaming personal failures for their circumstances merely provides an excuse for not responding to the real causes of homelessness. The issue at hand is that there is as many as 3.5 million homeless people in America as of 2017. A quarter of these people are children and we need to find a way to help this generation and the next from not having a safe place to sleep, or a job to make money, or even just a place to have fun without any worries. By developing shelters, giving young children a place to feel safe and have fun, or helping the homeless find jobs that they couldn t get before, we can help our generation and future generations fix homelessness. All of these solutions are ways that we can help the homeless. The first and foremost solution deals with jobs and finding a source of income. Many people don t have a chance to get an income, or they just had a bad experience that left them dry. This should not make them homeless. These are reasons why it is important to help homeless people find jobs. One example is a program sponsored by the US Department of Labor, called HVRP(Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program). There is a tower that people can go up to the fifty fourth floor, and they will have the best view of the city from the top of the tower. The tower is called the Main tower; to get to the top and see the whole city from the top people only need to pay ten dollars to get to the top. From modern skyscrapers to junkie cafes new German cuisine to old fashioned German sausage (Rick Steves Europe). Most of Frankfurt is an international trade and financial city with very imposing skylines throughout the city. Around most attractions, there are multiple pubs serving beer locally made in Germany because Germany is famous for their Beer Fest in October. Frankfurt is home to some of the best museums from art to science to history about the world and the city. Most people do not visit Frankfurt because most people are connecting flights to other cities when they land, but the people who stay want to know more and just want to see the city they came to visit. Most people who visit Frankfurt during the holidays, visit the Christmas market. Most people visit the market at night because of all the light they have, and it is one of the best places to visit when people come to Frankfurt. Also, Frankfurt has also long been an important center for culture and tourism activities, its huge trade fair complex, and Frankfurt host a lots of important events such as the Frankfurt Book Fair along with many fine museums, galleries, and gardens (planetware). Frankfurt is also home to some very big cathedrals, people and visits also a lot of opera houses too. Solar Walls(Thermal Storage Walls) According to Architecture 2030, the key to preventing the impending loss of our polar ice caps is to reduce our use of coal, which is used to generate electricity. Mazria, the founder of Architecture 2030, recommends we reduce our use of coal first by using passive solar solutions, and then by supplementing those solutions with active eco friendly technologies to get us to cut emissions. Solar windows let sunlight directly into the house. The heat is usually stored in a heavy floor or in interior walls. Solar walls (also known as thermal storage walls) are exactly what their name implies walls built primarily to store ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The installation costs differ according to variations in the construction and detailing of the solar wall, as well as the exterior glazing and insulated panel materials. Operating costs for solar walls are zero ideally, and only little maintenance is required.  It was also believed that the installation of direct gain water walls can also reduce the excessive glare from the direct sunlight to workable levels. Therefore ultra violet damage to goods and furnishing is avoided. This characteristic of water has significant advantage in commercial buildings. 2. What has been done in the past? Water Wall There has been a lot of research on water walls with the use of water s thermal mass for passively heating/ cooling the environment. Water is a valuable resource for thermal mass. Storing water and not benefiting from its heating and cooling abilities is only seeing half the picture. [By David Bainbridge, Mother Earth News, Nov. 1983] A passive system is a non mechanical heating or cooling system. The system will use building components windows, walls, roofs or floors to capture, store and distribute the energy gained from various natural processes. There are two approaches to passive wall systems direct gain and indirect gain. 2.1 Direct Gain Water Wall Direct gain can be the most cost effective way to incorporate solar energy into passive wall system design. • 29. The Pay For Performance Incentive Program Abstract The Pay for Performance incentive program is a new program being implemented across the United States to measure the quality of care within health care organizations. There are both positive and negative aspects of the Pay for Performance program that are based on information received from organizations who have implemented the program within their organization. The regulations the Federal Government has developed requirements for hospitals who serve Medicare patients as well as establishing four metrics that are used to measure the quality of the employee. Employees who work at an organization are given the opportunity to opt out of the Pay for Performance incentive program. This gives the employee the ability to make decisions on their income potential. Pay for Performance is a new aspect of the health care industry and will be used within the industry to measure quality of employees for the foreseeable future. Quality Health Care and Pay for Performance Incentives Pay for performance has been a topic debated for many years in a wide range of professional settings as a way to increase employee productivity by basing their pay on the quality of the employee s performance. Pay for Performance used within the medical community is defined as a payment system that offers financial rewards to medical professionals who meet or exceed specified benchmarks ( Pay For , 2009). Most approaches adjust the payments to physicians and hospitals on the basis of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Physics Of Physics And Engineering Mechanics By the time I reached senior high school, I knew I wanted to study mechanical engineering, but I hadn t decided on a focus. Then, near the end of my junior year, I attended a family function at my aunt and uncles house. A number of my siblings and cousins had piled onto their trampoline, and eventually a bracket in the underside of the trampoline failed. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but my uncle, who worked for Elliot Group, mentioned that a simple finite element model should have been able to identify the design deficiency. At the time, I didn t even know what finite element analysis was, so I did some research when I got home. What I found was a field that exactly suited my interests in applied mathematics and engineering mechanics. Since then, I have taken every opportunity possible to expand my knowledge of computational mechanics, and I hope to further that effort at the University of Illinois. My academic experience began freshman year of college, when I took a course on computational methods in engineering. As it was an honors course, the curriculum was extremely aggressive. We covered basic programming in both C++ and MATLAB, a number of numerical methods, and how to write strong technical papers. Since then, I have taken more advanced courses, but this one had the greatest effect on me because it impressed upon me the vast potential of computation methods. Many of the problems that are difficult to solve analytically could now be solved in the blink of an eye, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Bloodless Revolution Of 1800 The Bloodless Revolution of 1800 was a very important event that shaped our nation into what it is today. The Revolution changed America s history in major ways. The twelfth amendment was created and the party divisions that we see today in our modern government are results of the conflict. The revolution was also a test: could the young nation of America shift power peacefully, as the founding father s had intended? Or would everything collapse after only one president leading the country? The Bloodless Revolution of 1800 was an event that changed our nation s history an ways of government in many important ways. But in order to understand fully the whole effect this event had on our nation, we must look back a few years before 1800 to the Neutrality Proclamation, the John Jay Treaty, X Y Z Affair, and the Quasi War. George Washington, in his second term of office, issued the Neutrality Proclamation in an attempt to ease the tension and conflict with Britain caused by The French Revolution. Thomas Jefferson, being so disgusted with Washington s policies, resigned his secretarial position in May of 1793, when the proclamation was announced. Despite Washington s attempt to fix the conflict, British ships continued to confiscate American merchant ships because they, in an attempt to remain neutral, continued to trade with both France and Britain. War soon broke out after that between the new French Republic and the European Monarchs, much to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Critical Analysis Of Madame Bovary Allison Witt September 28, 2017 Literature Core Professor O Har A Fantasy World In Madame Bovary, Gustave Flaubert shapes Emma, the protagonist, into a woman who deceives herself, through romantic novels, into believing her life is better than it actually is. Emma like most things in her life romanticized what marriage would do for her. At the start of her marriage to Charles, she believed marriage would be the means at which she transitioned from a farm girl to a wealthy woman. She believed that marriage would bring her all she had longed for. However, her marriage to Charles is opposite to that. Thus, she is constantly searching for something or someone to satisfy her. She spends majority of the novel aspiring to be a part of the upper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Flaubert use of they and them, further separates Emma from the festivities of the upper class. Additionally, as Emma is preparing for the ball, she is striving to appear as extravagant as possible. She did her hair according to the directions of the hairdresser, and put on the barege dress (Flaubert, 42 44) Thus, Flaubert emphasizes that Emma s is unable to prepare for the ball without directions implying that she is not able to be a part of the upper class events without guidance. Therefore, her only connection to the upper class at the ball are her clothes. Also, Flaubert further separates Emma and Charles from the rest of the guest, by having them arrive in a dog cart (Flaubert, 41). Hence, Flaubert advocates that no matter how much the middle class aspires to be a part of the upper class through material items they will never have the means to do so. Flaubert further emphasizes the separation between Emma and the rest of the guests when he writes: Emma was listening to a conversation full of words she did not understand (Flaubert, 45). Flaubert is highlighting how out of place Emma is, yet how aloof Emma remains. She is still listening even though she doesn t understand what they are saying. Overall, Flaubert utilizes perspective in order to highlight Emma s aspirations to be a part of the upper class, through her appearance and material items. Ultimately, Flaubert is critiquing the French middle class in that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Group Development And Interaction Theory Essay Group Development and Interaction Theory Within the business setting, the shift from yesterday s singular culture to today s team culture has brought about a new era of learning, development, and innovation. However, this shift has also brought with it a certain amount of dissatisfaction, conflict, and confusion. This paper will focus on the Tuckman Theory, and discuss how Tuckman s five stages of group development and interaction applies to the work environment and leadership effectiveness. The Tuckman Theory Tuckman s theory maintains that groups enter four foreseeable and elementary stages of development, and each of these stages contain both task and maintenance functions. These stages are Forming, Storming, Norming, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Storming. When important issues are beginning to be addressed within the team, the patience of some team members may begin to break down and confrontations begin. The majority of these initial confrontations may relate to the work of the group itself, or to roles and responsibilities within the group. However, most of these minor confrontations will be taken lightly or dealt with promptly. In order to progress to the next stage, group members must move from a testing and proving mentality to a problem solving mentality. Hopefully, everyone will agree that the most important thing is to finish the work and agree to work together to solve their problems. It is important to note that to move on to the next stage group members need the ability to listen to each other (MacLeod, 2002). Some team members may welcome these minor squabbles in that they can reveal the real issues among the team, while others will wish they were still in the comfortable confines of forming. This is also the stage when team members will look for ways to avoid or mediate conflicts more effectively. Norming. With conflicts resolved, and the rules of the team established, and the scope of the teams responsibilities and tasks clear and agreed upon, the team can get to the business at hand. Team members are once again comfortable with each other as well as his/her skills, knowledge, and abilities. These feelings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Crooks In An Expensive School The quote, The more expensive a school is, the more crooks it has , caught my attention because not many would expect that an expensive school would have crooks in it. Most people wouldn t expect that there are more crooks in an expensive school since in a society only upper class and some middle class people would be able to afford to go to an expensive school. People would think the types of people that go to an expensive school must be respectable and have a good nature, since they are trying to become educated and prepared for the world. Instead, according to Holden there are more crooks in an expensive school than other types of schools. On this crisp, cold San Fran morning, Simon wheeled his mother through the maze of their small apartment. Stacks of wooden chairs, china sets, hatboxes, and lanterns towered and leaned above. Simon rolled his mom to the small window to watch and preoccupy her with the passing pedestrians. In this cluttered small, apartment above their shop is where she spent most of her days, alone. • 36. Hurricane Andrew Research Paper Hurricane Andrew is a storm that destroyed South Florida, and the Bahamas, and ripped through Louisiana, costing as much as 26 billion dollars. Hurricane Andrew was formed of the west coast of Africa on August 14. When it passed the Caribbean, the pressure system made it stronger. From there, the wave moved the storm to the North Atlantic. People had started to leave the area right before the Hurricane started. Schools and businesses were shut down, it hit Dale County Florida at 5:00 a.m. August 24, and it was high tide when the waves hit. There was weird lightning streaks of blue greenish colors, and thick streams of water. Some people said it sounded like bombs were going off. Roofs were no longer to be seen and windows were broke glass everywhere. The waves surges were up to twelve feet high. High winds up to 170 mph. Category 4 Hurricane was ... Where buildings were toppled, bungalows out from their roots, and luxury hotels only had broken winds (Longshore, 1998). Several days before it had produced a deep convection, that had high pressure (Rappaport, 1993). On August 26, the storm was getting weaker everyday. A cold front was moving east and downgraded the storm to tropical. Soon when the Hurricane got to Pennsylvania, the storm faded away. Some people tried to dismantle their houses to see what was left (Sherrow, 1998). After the storm over, 11 inches of rain had fallen in Louisiana, and 7 inches in Mississippi (Rappaport, 1998). 275 small planes were no longer functionable.
