Analysis Of Henrik Wolff s Bullet s The Brain
Imagine death. What happens in your final moments? Are you going to think about your loved ones
or just simply reminisce on one of the happiest moments of your existence? What would be your
very final thought to think? The short story, Bullet in the Brain , is a very intriguing, well
articulated fictional writing piece that captures what happens in the split second of death through
the main characterAnders. Written by Tobias Wolff
, the story follows a man who finds the clichГ©
in anything and his final thoughts of his life as a bullet is moving through his brain. Saying I
enjoyed this story would be the understatement of the century. The short storyis purely brilliant and
one of the most thought provoking stories I have read in a while. The story takes place inside an
old pompous bank building. Anders, a book critic, cannot make it to the bank until right before
closing time so, of course, the line is long and the women he gets stuck waiting in line behind
puts him in the worst mood possible. Anders is a man who has critiqued the beauty out of life
and in turn has let it turn him bitter. Anders could not be any more irritated while waiting in line
because the teller decides to neglect her job to flirt with a man. Instead of taking his anger out on
the bank teller, he takes it out on two ladies in front of him who were just trying to make
conversation. But in the blink of an eye, everything changes and a plot twist occurs. Suddenly two
men in ski masks are attempting

The Use of Characters in A Man For All Seasons by Robert Bolt
The Use of Characters in A Man For All Seasons by Robert Bolt
In Robert Bolt s A Man For All Seasons , there is a significant key to the use of characters. Bolt
uses the characters in this play very well and in an unique fashion. Bolt has the character the
common man, who takes the roles as many other characters. This is what makes this play special in
its own way. Bolt uses the common man as other characters which makes the reader really think. He
uses the common man as the narrator, servant, publican or innkeeper, boatman, foreman of the jury,
and the executioner. The common man is used in this play as a symbol of just common everyday
people with common jobs. These people are not of high class just common people. The common ...

This is precisely More s tactic, too (Bryfonski,Harris 90). The publicans pub is where Cromwell
and Rich plot their conspiracy on More. Cromwell tells Rich of his deviant plan but, Rich
wanted no part. Cromwell grabbed Rich, sits him down and gives him a proposition that Rich
would not refuse. This is where Rich betrays More. The common man as the role of the boatman
is important where as this is the point in the play that it is unhealthy to know More. When More
is out late trying to get home, he calls for a lone boatman also on his way home. The boatman is
off duty but, is willing to take More home because he believes More will make it worth his while
(Bolt 25). More says that there are fixed rates and he will pay what he always does. The whole
way the boatman would not give up. He hassled More about the rate but, More did not budge. The
boatman is just a common man trying to earn some fast cash. As foreman of the jury, this common
man has more power than any one person should have. The foreman of the jury has the final say to
convict Sir Thomas More of treason. With the jury being poles with hats on them and the foreman
of the jury being told what to say, More has no chance of getting out of these counterfeit charges.
The foreman of the jury sentences More to execution without a second thought. Even though More
is a honest man and sticks to what he believes in, this is Bolt s way of asserting that even under the
greatest of pressures man can exist

Inflatable Hot Tub
Why Portable Hot Tubs Are So Beneficial The people who purchase portable hot tubs usually fall
into the following categories: need a more affordable option, don t have too much space in their
homes or backyards, and don t want to permanently install a space in their yards for the hot tubs.
Though others will frown and say that inflatable tubs are subpar when compared to permanent ones,
we believe that inflatable tubs offer many benefits that permanently installed ones certainly cannot
offer. Move the Hot Tub Whenever You Want Remember that when you install a large permanent
tub in your backyard, its location is pretty much set in stone. Sure, you could move the tub if you
really wanted to, but that s a whole lot of manpower, time, and money... Show more content on

If you don t want to purchase a cheaper option and wish to get the most out of your experience,
you have the options of more high quality units that will provide jet controls and air pumps.
These tubs even rival the features of some in ground units, with the added benefit of being
portable. Inflatable tubs like these are definitely pricier, but offer so many different advantages.
How to Keep Your Inflatable Hot Tub in Top Shape Inflatable hot tubs are definitely easier to
take care of than the other classic options, but you still have to remember to keep them clean and
well serviced. In order to maintain your hygiene and keep the water sanitary, review the
information below to better take care of your inflatable hot tub. Note: Not all portable tubs are
inflatable. The following tips are meant for completely inflatable spas, so make sure yours is the
same. Clean Out the Water on a Weekly Basis A guaranteed way of maintaining the hygiene of
your inflatable hot tub is to simply empty out all the water from it on a weekly basis. Most
inflatable tubs don t require any chemicals to clean the water, considering that they are smaller and
hold less water. However, this means that it can attract a number of algae, bacteria, etc. if the water

The Legend Of Jack The Ripper
England has always been known for their elevated culture and afternoons fit for tea, but in the
small town of Whitechapel, London around 1888 this was not the case. Poverty played a big role
during this time period and mothers of small families had to prostitutes themselves in order to
provide meals for their families. Between August and November of 1888, a notorious murderer
rose to the surface, slaughtering at least five women escorts. The legend of Jack the Ripperis one of
the most famous, yet unsolved mysteries of English crime.
I.Suspected Murder Victims August 31, 1888, was the first killing, Mary Ann Nichols was found
dead on the side of a street at four o clock in the morning. She had been dead for approximately
20 minutes, her throat had been slit, her abdomen mutilated with one deep jagged wound,
several incisions across the abdomen, and three or four similar cuts on the right side caused by
the same knife at least 6 8 inches long used violently and downwards. There seemed to be
surprise at the small amount of blood at the crime scene, about enough to fill two large wine
glasses, or half a pint at the most (Llewellyn). This comment led to the suspicion that Nichols was
not killed where her body was found, but the blood from her wounds had soaked into her clothes
and hair, and there was little doubt that she had been killed at the crime scene by a swift slash to the
throat. Death would have been instantaneous, and the abdominal injuries, which would have

The Bird Motif Of Hitchcock s Films Revisited
Robin Wood, in Hitchcock s Films Revisited, argues that much of the meaning that the audience
derives from Psycho involves spectatorship through character development.1 What makes Psycho
such a timeless film is its intricate and extensive use of symbols. One symbol never really takes
precedence over the other, and are largely left up to the viewer s interpretation. Psychos symbols
have not been discussed in great detail based on the information presented in the readings thus far
this semester, but this dissertation will attempt to illuminate the purpose of at least one of these
symbols: that of the bird. Hitchcock uses the bird both obviously and ambiguously throughout the
film. These instances, which are primarily psychological and sexual in nature, are developed
through the film s two central characters, Marion Crane and Norman Bates, and reveal fundamental
truths about the psyche and about human nature in general. The bird motif, despite being a central
element of Hitchcock s films, was developed before the action of the film even commences. This
film was based off of a book, of the same name, by Robert Bloch. In the novel, the central female
protagonist s name is Mary, and in the film, it is Marion. Both women, however, share the same
last name: Crane.2,6 Cranes, like Marion herself, spen[d] much of their time in self directed
activities to maintain life. 3 Marion lives very much in her own microcosm, with a noncommittal
man and a mundane office job as its stars.

Totalitarianism In Dystopian Literature
Dystopian Literature The Dystopian novel is created by the illusion of a perfect political and social
structure in a community. Dystopian literature exposes the negative results of the poor decision
making of society. Unlike a Utopia, that is an ideal world, a dystopia is the contrary: a world in
which everything is unpleasant, typically a totalitarian or enviromentally degraded one. The
government is usually a controlling one and it tries to maintain a perfect society by using
technological and moral control. These novels often feature different kinds of repressive social
control systems. The political structure of a community is emphasized in a dystopian novel. The
government is usually authoritarian or totalitarian, and it controlls... Show more content on

In this literature the society itself is tipically the antagonist, because society is the one against
the aims and desires of the protagonist. The government enacts this oppression then resulting in
the loss of civil liberties like controlling a person s sexual or reproductive freedom. A novel
called Among the Hidden is about a dystopian world in which you can t have more than two
children as a family. The family in the novel have three children and the novel revolts around the
life of the third child that lives hidden in the basement so the population police won t find him
and kill him with his family. To a person that does not care about having children or is fine with
having just one, he does not consider this world a dystopian world, as it is called. Someone who
would like to have more than two children considers this world a dystopian one. The dystopian
novel is determined as one depending on one s point of view. The societies can be depicted as
utopias when they are probably dystopias. In a dystopia, society gives up something for the benefit
of another thing that blinds society of the loss of what they gave up, but after sometime they will
notice the loss is affecting them and that s when they figure out they are living in a dystopia. The
idea that you could be living in a dystopia and not even know it is what makes dystopian fiction so

Essay on Exploring the Existence of Paranormal Activity
Whether we choose to believe in the paranormal or not, we all have to realize that there are
many strange things that happen to all of us that are unexplainable. The history of paranormal
existence has been around since the beginning of time. The paranormal is not what most people
believe it is, ghosts . There is a wide range in what is considered paranormal. In order to
understand the paranormal you must first understand the meaning of the word. The prefix Para
means beyond and normal. This gets you the result of beyond normal. Just because science cannot
prove it, does not mean that it is paranormal. In fact, as you read on you will discover that science

Not to say that they are not signs of spirits, because an orb is a manifested sphere of energy.
Sometimes they are visible by the human eye but most of the time they are only viewable
through photographic lenses. Energy is plain and simple, energy everything you see and touch
has energy in it no matter what it is. Take the elements for example. Earth, wind, water, and fire.
These elements have mass amounts of energy that some people attempt to harness for their own
good. Such as making a Psy ball in the palm of their hand. Psy pronounced sigh is the act of
making an orb in your hand. It s not evil or fake. I have read many cases of this event. There are
people that practice pyrokinesis and it is not the Hollywood classic of people making huge balls
of fire and throwing them at things burning them to the ground. It is more or less drawing the
energy from the fire and using it whether it be to create a psy ball or to get in touch with yourself.
You can find energy in music. Have you ever witnessed somebody playing an instrument closing
their eyes and enjoying it to the fullest? I know it happens to me all the time. I feel at one with the
guitar. Just feeling the vibrations from the wood go from your fingertips up to your arm and
throughout your body. Next time you are watching somebody who takes great passion in their
music, watch what they do and how they act. You might just

The Coleman Report
Student achievement in schools recently came under the scrutiny of the American public due to the
confirmation hearing for the Secretary of Education, Nancy DeVos. Because of DeVos support of
school choice and vouchers, Bellwether Education Partners reported on basic facts relating to
Michigan public and charter schools (Mead, 2017). Not only is it important to determine what
constitutes achievement in regard to education, but it is important to identify the factors that can
affect it. Achievement should not only be thought of as the amount of intellectual ability a person
possesses, but additionally as the ability to question, think critically, collaborate and synthesize
information ( Primer: Education, 2014). A report by Michael Bennet... Show more content on

Limited family income will make it more difficult for a student to have access to the same
amount of educational supports at home that a student from a higher income family would have
such as books, electronics, and tutoring, to name a few (Nokali, Bachman, Votruba Drzal, 2010).
Illegal activities and gangs are more prevalent in lower income neighborhoods and can have
negative influences on the amount of effort a student puts into their studies (Willingham, 2011).
Less access to proper nutrition and healthcare can lead to increased absenteeism and reduced
access to instruction (Kapinga, 2014). An increased level of mental health issues and distress can
also be attributed to low SES (Baum, Garafalo, Yali, 1999). Any or all of the factors mentioned
above can produce chronic stress which can negatively affect achievement (Kapinga, 2014).
Students have also been shown to lack the motivation to pursue a post secondary education if there
is no role model at home, such as a parent who has earned a college degree, to follow ( Identifying
Factors, n.d.). In spite of the negative factors that a student might experience as a result of coming
from a low SES, there are some positive attributes that have been shown to have a mitigating effect
on student achievement. Johnson, 2006, reported that a high level of intelligence

Sedentary Changes In The Neolithic Period
Mesolithic period marked the beginning of Holocene inducing simultaneous climatic changes
which led to proliferation of flora and fauna. This inherently led to the increased availability of
resources to man, hence creating a change in the economy. Substantial changes in lifestyle were
observed as a form of survival strategy which primarily promoted localization, halting locomotion.
The progression of evolutionary changes in anatomy and physiology equipped man to enjoy
privileges like full hand and thumb grip, larger cranial capacity that inherently influenced other
inter dependent bodily functions. His emotions cultivated social cohesions forming personal and

As a result interpersonal relationships were developed to consolidate a form of cooperative

Mesolithic indicating the advancement of culture and religion. The way man built pits and other

animal burial along with man. It only confirms that man became more attached to the environment
meanwhile formulating various emotions. He would bury the dead near his habitation and built
separate cemeteries and structured graves to dispose off the dead stipulating his respect for the
dead. Neolithic period holds evidence of childrens bones stored in jars showing the increased
complexity of man and his emotions. Man was more concerned about the dead .The Mesolithic
period included simpler burials than those in Neolithic, demonstrating that man was still adapting
and his emotions were still enhancing. The continued usage of red ochre indicates that its symbolic
value was probably passed down through generations. The features of these burials reveal that both

Full Range Leadership
According to Bruce Avolio, What we have clearly learned is that leaders who can balance
transactional and transformational leadership across time, situations, and challenges are the most
effective (Avolio 2011, 49). People have a greater sense of ownership at the highest levels in
terms of identification and are willing to provide the extra effort needed to succeed (Avolio 2011,

Laissez faire leadership (LF) is the behavior of those individuals in a group who, in the extreme,
do not care what happens, avoid taking responsibility, cannot make up their minds, and are
satisfied to sit and wait for others to take the necessary initiatives imposed by the tasks at hand
(Avolio 2011, 55). In Full Range Leadership and Following Leader the LF is not an effective

Students At The University Of Alabama
The number of students attending the University of Alabama has reached a new high of 37,100.
That number is a 2.4% increase from 2014 (uanews.ua.edu). As the number of students is predicted
only to increase in the years to come, the University must reflect on the housing options for these
37,100 students. Freshman students required to live on campus face a difficult situation lack of
housing. With that being said, the best and most efficient way to cope with the ever growing
population is to allow freshmen to live off campus, and build more apartments around campus to
allow thousands of more students to have places to live in the future. Providing housing on campus
for nearly 8,000 freshman students is nearly impossible. The Presidential Villages house 1,840
students. Blout, Bryant, Bryce Lawn, Burke, Friedman, The Highlands, Lakeside, Parham, Paty,

freshman options barely fit the ever growing number of new students coming to Alabama. The

A Research Paper On Lyme Disease
Lyme Disease I chose to do my research paper on Lyme disease. During my research, I found a
lot of interesting facts about Lyme disease. The disease is caused by bacteria, called Borrelia
burgdorferi, which is only transmitted to humans when they are bitten by an infected tick. Lyme
disease was first discovered in 1975, in Lyme, Connecticut, after a group of children were
diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. This eventually led them to discover the bacteria
Borrelia burgdorferi. The disease was given its name in 1982, after the town of Lyme, Connecticut.
According to Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Lyme diseaseis the most commonly
reported vectorborne illness in the United States. In 2014, it was the fifth most common
Nationally Notifiable disease. Lyme disease is most prevalent in the northeast and upper
Midwest. Your chances of acquiring Lyme disease can be greatly affected by where you live or
travel to. Many outdoor activities put you at risk. Since deer ticks feed on mice and white tailed
deer, they are most commonly found in heavily wooded areas. Another risk factor of Lyme
disease is having exposed skin. Since ticks attach easily to bare skin, being exposed in wooded
or grassy areas will increase your risk. If you are bitten by a tick, the final chance of prevention is
to remove the tick quickly and properly. In most cases, to infect it s host, a tick must remain
attached to the skin for at least thirty six hours. If you safely remove the tick

U.s. Military Draft History
The draft started on April 16, 1862 for the Confederate States during the Civil War. The Union
then conducted their own draft on March 3, 1863. The Northern 1862 draft was an attempt to let
states handle their own conscriptions, instead of the old volunteer militia. The next draft took
place on September 16, 1940 for World War I and remained in effect continuously until 1973. The
president, Woodrow Wilson, decided that A draft was needed and nearly 3,000,000 soldiers were
drafted following the Service Act of 1917. (Understanding the U.S. MilitaryDraft History 1). The
reasoning behind President Wilson calling for the draft is because Before the draft only 73,000
soldiers volunteered during the first 6 weeks of World War I (Understanding the U.S. Military
Draft History 1). Before July of 1973 The draft was in effect continuously from 1940 to 1973
(Smith 1). This means that more than 10,000,000 men were drafted and sent off into battle
throughout the past wars. One of the most controversial drafts was the infamous Vietnam War Era.
The Vietnam war was also called the Ten Thousand Day War because of how long it took to end.
The United Stateswas not initially involved in the starting of the Vietnam war. The United States
got involved after France requested to leave of the war after suffering a huge loss in the battle of

demonstrates Helen s struggle to communicate with her parents and Anne and how Helen slowly
begins to learn, despite her disabilities. The concepts that I learned in class each helped me to see
the movie from a different perspective. The topics of conflict, perception, and non verbal
communication make up the majority of the film s plotline. Each one of these topics will be
discussed in a paragraph about how it was represented in the film. Throughout the course of the
film, there were various conflicts that took place between the main characters. The conflicts mainly
occur between Anne and Helen and between Kate and Captain Keller. Most of the time, the
conflicts are started because of an overall frustration trying to communicate with Helen. Conflicts
can arise because of many different factors, but in this case, these conflicts arise because of Helen s

Analyzing The Companies Microsoft And Apple Using The Swot...
In this essay I will be analyzing the companies Microsoft and Apple using the PESTEL analysis.
PESTEL stands for: Political, Environmental, Social, Technological, Economic, and Legal.
Microsoft and Apple are the two leading brands of the personal computer market. Although they
both are highly in demand for essentially the same products, both companies have strategized their
business in such a way to advertise their items uniquely. Microsoftwas founded in 1975 by Bill
Gates and Paul Allen. Since the start of the company, Microsoft has had it s fair share of not only
successes but problems as well. The United States Government claimed Microsoft violated the

Social: After Gates took on a less significant role in the company, Microsoft began campaigning
more heavily in television advertisements, print ads, and billboards to reach a younger audience. By
partnering with Google, the company has created a new image for itself. Rather than just being a
product for professionals, they have linked their products with the Android system just as Apple has
with the iPhone. (Strickland and Crawford 2014) Technological: Microsoft is the leading
alternative to Apple products which many find quite expensive. Many consumers are attracted
to Android s customizable options over the iPhone s set features. Economic: Microsoft s stock
has been steadily increasing since the dot com bubble of 2000 with only a small setback in 2009
when the global economic recession hit and the demand for PCs fell. Legal: Microsoft was sued
by Apple in 1994 in a highly publicized case. Apple claimed that they had licensed certain parts
of their user interface during the inception of Microsoft 1.0, but Microsoft then turned around and
illegally copied aspects that already existed in Apple. Microsoft won the case but not after a
lengthy legal battle. (Morgenstern 2012) Only one year after Microsoft, Apple was founded in
1976 in the garage of Steve Job s parents in Los Altos, California. Political: Recently their have
been many scandals about hackers using Apple technology to access classified information. The
situation has grown so dire that Apple Chief

Elie Wiesel As A Victim To The Holocaust
The Holocaust was a tragic event that involved the murder of millions of Jews from the years
1938 to 1945. Elie Wiesel was a victim to this, being a Jew himself. The book he wrote, Night,
tells his story and how he survived, changed, and adapted to being put into labor camps and
forced to work and was starved. Elie was forced to work for nearly four years in these camps
surrounded by hundreds of other enslaved Jews. His experience was the definition of trauma. The
traumatic experience altered his relationship with his father and emotionally changed him.

Comparing Shintoism And Buddhism
The main goal of any religion is to gain an idea of understanding and reasoning in one s life.
Religion is a vast hole with endless conceptions concerning the purpose for existence, as well as
moral principles for how individuals should live their one life. Religion is sacred and vital in the
Japanese society. Japan is a remarkable country with endless temples and shrines for praying,
donating, and ceremonies. Yet, the modern lifestyle and urbanization in Japan continues to emerge.
This realization had me contemplating the notion of how people can adjust towards contemporary
ideals and newly found social orders, but continue to keep ancient beliefs and teachings like
Buddhism. Buddhism arrived in the sixth century in Japan from the Kingdom of Baekje in
Korea, roughly 552 A.D. However, it began in India with Siddhartha Gautama. Siddhartha lived
within a royal family and was protected from the real world for most of his childhood until he
witnessed the trials of sickness, aging, and death from a local monk. He wanted to find a way to
live his life with those trials, or somehow accept them. Siddhartha craved for a life of no pain and
suffering, so he left his comfortable home and strived to live towards Hindu teachings and nothing
else. He desired to reach enlightenment and after meditating for... Show more content on

Because of the mass number of Hurricanes that have hit Texas, Puerto Rico, and Florida a majority
of AMericans are focused on cleaning up the damages caused by the hurricanes and hoe to be

preoccupied to focus on other matters at hand. If we pay attention to the recent earrthquake that
took place in Mexico City we can see that the hurricanes aren t the only thing we should be worried
about. The United Statesseems to focus mainly on hurricanes, rather than on earthquakes, solely for
the reason that, especially recently, hurricanes have caused havoc among the citizens of America.

Although the primary purpose of both organisation type is to fufil customer s needs, there are
important differences which will dictate their operational setup, known as the four Vs (Volume,
Variety, Variation, Visibility).
In the case of Ford Motor Company, we have the typical scenario of a car manufacturer that
create batches of the same cars in high volume but in low variety. Because there is very little
variation in demand along with no customer interaction for their operational staff, as such the
production line is designed to ensure precision in the similarity of all the finished product.
Following Ford s mission to be a global family with a proud heritage passionately committed to
providing personal mobility for people around the world and to anticipate consumer need and

All employees have a duty of care to report any concerns of abuse they have. These might include
evidence or suspicions of bad practice by colleagues and managers (whistleblowing), or abuse
by another service user, staff or their family and friends. The correct actions to take if an
idividual tells you they are being abused. The key things to do when an individual discloses
abuse is: Assume the person is telling the truth. Speak to them in a clam and sensitive way.
Listen carefully and make sure you record what was said. If the person needs medical attention
you would call the emergency service or call a doctor as appropriate, and inform your line
manager immediately, or another senior person. If this is a criminal matter i.e. an alleged
assault, rape or indecent exposure, call the police, if a senior was not on duty/available to do so.
How to ensure that any evidence of abuse is kept safe It is important to record everything that
has been said or disclosed, in the event of alleged abuse, include date/time, and sign it. This is
because the information needs to be accurate, in case it is to be used in a legal investigation or
proceedings. The written record should be stored in a secure place, for safety and to prevent
others from seeing its content. If the alleged abuse is of sexual nature, it is advisable to ask the

The Case Of Harvey And Capability Limited
The Case of Harvey and Capability Limited
Before analysing, Harvey needs to be advised that there are two known clauses that exist in a
contract; limitation clause and exclusion clause. He needs to understand that there is a difference
between both of these clauses. When there is a breach of the contract, the limitation clause that
is relied on in a contract and enforced would make an effort to pay for certain damages. This can
only be used as an indicator for Harvey to recognise their differences, but, it will not be explained
any further as the enquiry made is only related to exclusion clause. Capability Limited is a private
limited company that has subcontracted a sole proprietor, Reckless Enterprise. As the damages
were done by Reckless Enterprise, with the matter of who is liable to pay for it, the court needs to
look deep into the consequences of Capability Limited and how Reckless Enterprise was included
in the Memorandum as a third party.
Exclusion Clauses
If the contract is breached, the party relying on the exclusion clauses will not be responsible for
paying for any damages (Treitel, 1995). If the document does not have any intention for the
contract, exclusion clause will not be bound. As it can only be defined in this manner, Harvey also

machine and signed the order without reading the clause. She sued the defendants as it did not

of whether she read it or not. However, in other cases, it can be argued that there are other
exceptions that would be convinced that exclusion clauses will not be

this chapter, the researcher describes how the businesses and educational organizations use cloud
computing technology and how they benefit from using it. In addition, the researcher also covers
the advantages of cloud computing from an economic perspective. Then, the researcher will give an
explanation of how cloud computing technology relates toward intercultural communication in the

computing for firms and educational organizations by governing cloud computing in the institution.
3.1 Cloud computing for commercial organizations For commercial organizations, cloud computing
does not mean putting all data information in virtual storage on the Internet network such as

means the firm and business to gain lower barriers to entry into business because of cost
effectiveness in IT, the ability can grow faster, the significant scalability and flexibility of IT bases
and cloud services. On the other hand, the cloud computing technology is not a miracle service,
which always benefits every business (Colt, 2014, n.p.g.). Consequently, any commercial
organization has to consider the different needs, of a company 3.1.1. Cloud computing technology

Poetry Is Often Used As An Outlet To Express Oneв
Ђ™S Feelings
Poetry is often used as an outlet to express one s feelings or ideas. Sometimes it is possible to
find out a person s mental state from reading their poetry. Violeta Parra was an artist in many
senses including poetry. In her poem and song Here s to Life , it appears that Parra is celebrating
life but may hint at certain factors in her life such as racism, poverty, exhaustion, mixed emotions,
and her love life that lead to her depressionand impending suicide. An ironic tone is established in
the poem by the speaker giving contradictions to the things she is grateful for. The first line of
every stanza starts with the phrase Thanks to the life that has given me so much (1). This phrase
alone seems to be genuinely grateful. The speaker... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is suggested that the speaker may not happy with her life and expresses that with an ironic
tone is when she is talking about being grateful for sounds. The first sounds she talks about are
generally thought of as appealing sounds like crickets and birds. She then goes on and describes
loud and unsettling sounds Hammers, turbines, barking, squalls (14). Very few people would
consider these pleasant sounds and many would avoid hearing them. They also seem to suggest
a low income area that is perhaps near to construction or a factory. I do not know if the speaker
is from a place of poverty but even if she is not, this section appears to be referencing poverty and
poverty is reason to make someone unhappy. Exhaustion is another part of the speaker s life that
is that lead to the conclusion that the speaker was unhappy. This is when she talked about being
thankful for walking. She names all of these cool places to walk such as beaches and mountains.
She names places that allude to her having traveled all over the world and yet she describes her
own feet as tired. If one was to describe their adventures they might say after a long day of
walking they were tired but the way the speaker talks about her tired feet is not that they became
tired from walking but that they were always tired. Tiredness is often considered a symptom of
depression. The inability to find energy, even when one can travel all over the world would

prejudiced against Shrek because of how he looks, which is similar to how certain people are
prejudiced based on the color of their skin. Prejudice is also shown in the movie when Shrek
goes to the town of Duloc and a man wearing a big head gear sees him and runs away because he

Lord Farquaad has prejudice against magical creatures. This is shown when he has ordered that
the magical creatures be exiled to the forest. This action also illustrates the discrimination that
the magical creatures experienced due to Lord Farquaad s personal prejudices. The magical

Furthermore, Lord Farquaad also has prejudice against ogres. He identifies and calls Shrek as it ,

The Pros And Cons Of Counterfeit Medications
Counterfeit medications are unsafe and a treat to people around the world. The use of the
medications can cause harm to both the body and society. It is important that the consumers are

you should make to better show off your skills, experience, and value. The changes you should
make are below:
First off, for skills section, you list some skills that you need to actually provide examples for. Some
of those skills are Active Listening, Reading Comprehension, Critical Thinking, Time Management,
and Judgement and Decision Making. These skills need to be proved rather than listed on your
resume. Prove them through past examples of how you used them to help in a situation.
For your experience as the Director of Resident Affairs, only use bullet points that relate that show

Grammatically, bullet points don t have periods. Also, start off each bullet point with a past tense
verb.
For your experience at COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE HEADSTART, I believe the
title may have a grammar mistake.
One thing that I am noticing is your bullet points sound like there are copied from a job
description. I am not saying they are, but the bullet points don t sound unique in any way. For
each of the bullet points, describe in detail how you did that task and either what you
accomplished or what was the result. For example, for identify and recruit head start eligible
families and children, how did you recruit them, what did you do to find them. Describe more in
detail what you did, so you can better explain and better show what you did that is unique or made
something better.
You should remove the accomplishments section. Yes, accomplishments are important, but if you
don t show how those awards can help the employer, than they don t mean much.
Most resumes tend to leave off references, and simply put the line references available upon
request. This is mainly because listing all your references takes up space, but if you would like to
keep them on there, that s

First of all, though both having been influenced by Buddhism, the reincarnations of main characters
in the two stories are somehow different because they are also affected by other ideologies and
cultures. In Vietnamese Tam Cam, Tam undergo four times of reincarnation (a nightingale, a white
cedar tree, a wooden loom and a persimmon fruit) whereas in Neang Angkat, the girl reborns two
times. The reincarnation process of Tam is linked with Confucian ideology of female virtues and
behaviour. For instance, her transformation from a persimmon fruit into a human shape to do the
housework and cook for the old woman represents the virtue of skillful of work, which is one of
four Confucian virtues that Vietnamese women need to obtain (Bui, 2009). Differently, two forms
of reincarnation in Cambodian Cinderella a banana tree and a grove of bamboo only describe two
symbolic images of this eastern country. Another difference is the supernatural power. Whereas the

Ecocide In Aranyak-Of The Forest-An Ecocide
Aranyak Of the Forest An Ecocide: The term ecocide refers to extensive damage done to the
ecosystem of a territory due to human atrocities or to such an extent that the normal living of the
inhabitants is severely disturbed ( Ecosophy Wikipedia , 2017). Human nature is essentially
anthropocentric which assumes the primacy of man over other organisms in the environment. We
are committing ecocide by deforestation of a land, burning fossil fuel, emitting green house gases
from the industrial hubs, by exploiting natural ecocritical understanding of Aranyak Of the Forest
(1976) in the light of ecocide. Ecocriticism is best exhibited in Aranyak Of the Forest where the
protagonist Satyacharan, a city dweller gets hypnotized by nature. Initially urban lifestyle revolted
against the loneliness of the forest. He has been sent to the forest as an estate manager to clear up a

weaknesses that I revealed, diminishing the overall powerful effect that my speechshould have
gave. As I watched Amy Cuddy s TED talk called Your body language
shapes who you are , I
learned more about body language and what I should ve done when I presented my Values Speech.
Throughout my reflection, I will discuss my strengths that I portrayed during my speech such as
pacing and eye contact as well as the limitations, for instance, stuttering and abruptly finishing my
sentences, and then I will finish off my reflection with the levels of confidence and body language I
portrayed.
First off, there were many strengths that I believed were demonstrated within my Values Speech
such as pacing and eye contact with my fellow classmates, but despite the strengths that were
seen, the weaknesses of stuttering and finishing sentences abruptly created a weak feeling at the
end of my presentation. As I watched the recording of my presentation on repeat, I noticed that
my pacing was very well executed. I didn t speak too fast nor did I speak too slow, which is
good because my classmates were able to follow along with what I was saying. Not only that,
but I also provided eye contact to my classmates, showing that I was well prepared and did not
need to read my note cards as much. Of course, with strengths, there were also weaknesses
portrayed. I often stuttered at a couple of phrases because of my anxiety and I would also finish
some of my sentences abruptly, leaving a poor execution. I realized that once I began saying a
certain sentence and mess up mid way through, I would end the sentence with words that wouldn t
be as clear. Now knowing my weaknesses and strengths, I will better prepare myself for my next
upcoming speech by practicing my speeches with more word choices when I say it verbally,
allowing myself to become more aware of the variety of

The Importance Of Vital Signs Of Essential Signs Essay
The Importance of Vital Signs: Introduction Vital signs are common exams performed by medical
professionals that assess the essential functions of the human body. These exams are imperative in a
clinical setting as they help to determine the overall health of a patient. During a routine vital sign
examination, hospital personnel such as nurses or certified nursing assistants must evaluate the
patient s body temperature, pulserate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure in order to obtain an
adequate assessment of the patient. Typically, radiographers are not often required to collect their
patients vital signs. However, it is crucial for a radiographer to know how to acquire a patient s
vital signs in case of an emergency situation.
The Importance of Vital Signs: Body TemperatureBody temperature is a vital sign that determines
the body s ability to produce and eliminate heat. According to the article, Vital Signs (Body
Temperature, Pulse Rate, Respiration Rate, Blood Pressure), The normal body temperature of a
person varies depending on gender, recent activity, food and fluid consumption, time of day, and in
women, the stage of the menstrual cycle. As a result of the variations in body temperature, the
normal body temperature is given a range between 96.4Вє F to 99.1Вє F for an average adult. A
temperature recorded as 100.4Вє F or above is considered a fever which indicates that the body is

Candid View Of Leibniz s Optimism
A Candid View of Leibniz s Optimism
During the Age of Enlightenment, 18th century France was a hotbed of changing political and
intellectual thought. Many people began to question how things work and look to reason and
science rather than superstition and metaphysical thought for answers. Nontraditional thinkers
known as philosophes began to make their radical ideas public and soon European society was
taken by an intellectual storm.
The primary satirist of the French Enlightenment, Voltaire, was a deist and a renowned playwright.
Using his quick wit and talent with words, Voltaire satirized popular philosophy and political
thought through his most famous work titled Candide. With its fantastical and violent plot, the story
served as a public platform for Voltaire to criticize modern issues of religion, government and
philosophy. Specifically, Candide critiques the main ideas of German philosopher, Leibniz.
Candide is a parody of Leibniz dominant theory of possible worlds and pre established harmony.
The plot assaults Leibniz s optimism but provides some practical wisdom on how man should live.

Voltaire wrote about the earthquake in Candide and also wrote a poem about the disaster to
challenge philosophical and theological optimism. In Candide before the earthquake, Pangloss
prevents Candide from saving a drowning character by reasoning that the specific place in which
he was drowning was created for the character to drown in. After the earthquake, Pangloss attempts
to console the survivors with the idea: things could not be otherwise... For, all this if or the best ...
for it is impossible that things should not be where they are, for all is well (241). Pangloss s
unconvincing justification for such great devastation weakens Leibniz theory that this world, where
so much suffering exists, is the best possible

How Technology Is What Propels Our Innovative Society Forward
Moving with the Changes How did this paper fall into your hand? Speaking on a literal level, a
lot of work happened for this paper to come into a material item that is now something anybody
can read. First, an inventor thought up and created this paper. Which was then typed on a computer
which itself went through years of development, blueprinting, designing, and many other
complicated processes. After hours of revision this paper was printed on a printer that was also
developed and designed to do its job efficiently. Things do not pop out of thin air, they take
development which can sometimes involve a long, tedious process. Just like the development of
this essay did not happen overnight nor come easy, technologydoes not either. Though chaotic, the
development and progress of technology is what propels our innovative society forward. When
new technology is first introduced an array of opinions from all perspectives come spewing out.
Right now this is being experienced with the release of the new iPhone 7. Apple has been noted
in the past for getting rid of specs to gadgets that aren t necessary to make way for new and
improved technology. Laptops have evolved on lacking the CD disk slot to make way for
slimmer, less bulky laptops and more room for better technology inside the hardware. This time
around, Apple is dropping the headphone jack in efforts to move towards a new, wireless era. As
product of this, Apple has also created new, wireless Air Buds which are

The Patent Law Of Taiwan
This thesis is to address the possibility of adapting the patent law in Taiwan, compared with what is
done in India. These adjustments utilize the so called TRIPS flexibilities embodied in the TRIPS
Agreement (The Agreement on Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights), as Annex
1C of the Marrakesh Agreement establishing the World Trade Organization (hereinafter the WTO)
which came into effect in January, 1995. As a trade off between promoting knowledge diffusion
and exclusivity to use the knowledge, the patent system is part of the minimum standard established
in the course of the globalization of intellectual propertyright (IPR). The formation of TRIPS also
demonstrates that the strength of private sector and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of the root of the intellectual property rights inevitably goes to the inherent public goods
analysis, favoring partially the inventor s power of control will become a burden for users and
competitors. Excessive protection may ultimately reduce competition barrier and weaken the
power of the national innovation. If developing countries can render their laws to curve it to the
pro competitive strategy, and this would allow the technology free rider countries to become fair
followers, as Professor Reichman indicates. In this way, developing countries can make use of
TRIPS flexibilities, because wiggle room in fact exists in the TRIPS Agreement. For example,
Brazil employs this idea in constructing its compulsory license requirements in its copyright law;
South Africa adopted a more stringent patent protection than the TRIPS Agreement demands while
incorporated a safeguard clause to facilitate the use of essential drugs. Another good example of
employing TRIPS flexibilities is the patent law of India. Before the TRIPS Agreement was
negotiated, India s patent law did not regard pharmaceutical chemicals as subject matter of
protection and India consequentially became one of world s top generic drug producers. However,
in order to comply with

The right and left hemispheres of the brain are joined by a bundle of fibers called the corpus

Sinclair found some solace in books, Sinclair was a natural writer and he began publishing at the
young age of fifteen years old. Sinclair started off going to school at a small college by the name

The Insanity Defense In Batman Begins
The insanity defense is one of the hardest legal topics that the Criminal Justice System faces. It is
so hard because of how inaccurate it is. Every time someone is suspected of being insane, the
media jumps at every chance to prove that they really are. The media has every right to do this,
because the average person is made to believe that the insanity defenseis common through watching
shows such as; CSI, Law and Order, and even in the movie Batman Begins. These particular shows
inform people that the insanitydefense is used many times, requires just one testimony from his
or her psychiatrist, and puts the accused person in a nice mental hospital for a few months until
they are better. However, the truth is this; the insanity defense is hardly ever used and is really
hard for us to get a full understanding of. In this paper I will try to explain pleading legally
insane and all the hard decisions the lawyers have to go through in trying to use this defense. I
will also explain the the actual term of insanity from the legal side, show criminals can t just
automatically plead legally insane relating to diseases, and try to show that this defense really
never works. Throughout these points I will also consider why states are... Show more content on

Network Security Practices Essay
Today s corporate infrastructure is not the same as it was 10 years ago. In the past you were able
to control the amount of attacks on a network because of the reasonable number, which is not the
case today. At any given time an organizations network will be attacked or try to be attacked
several hundred times in one day. For larger more well known organizations this number could
grow significantly. To ensure your organization is not one of the ones on the 10 oclock news you
have to ensure you have proper securitypractices in place to secure your network.

Having this type of accountability will help you in having a better understanding and provide for a
good foundation for enforcing security across the organization. This area should also cover the
different types of data each person handles on a daily basis. It should clearly outline the different
categories that data will fall into whether it be internal, external, general use or confidential. By
doing so you now allow the employees to have a better understanding of what data they can
manipulate and data that has to stay the same.
2. Remote Access Policies users are always going to want to access the office network from a
remote site. We have to ensure that there are policies in place that allow them to do so but in a
safe manner. If they are going to remotely access the network it has to be done in accordance
with the security policies of the organization and not on their terms. This should include using a
laptop or remote connection software that has been pre approved by the organizations security
team, keeping IP s in a safe place, making sure that if they are accessing the network from a
laptop to ensure that hard drive is encrypted. This will prevent anyone from gaining access the
sensitive information if it is ever lost or stolen. Lastly not everyone should be granted remote
access to the network; this privilege should only be given to people who have a legitimate need for
it.

beneficial to Tom and the team. Falls are a serious health concern for people and an important
issue for nurses. Many factors contribute to the causes of falls, apart from cognitive impairment.
The consequences of patient falls are becoming a serious issue for patients and society. I
discovered preventive strategies could be used as a theory to minimise falls in older people
using different literature reviews. A fall however can be defined as an unexpected, involuntary
loss of balance by which a person comes to rest at lower or ground level (Commodove, 1995).
The older population is growing in number, and falling is common in this group up to one third
of people over the age of 65 falls each year, with half reporting multiple falling episodes (Bludau
and Lipsitz, 1997). Savage and Matheisk Kraft, (2001) states that fall related injury is the sixth
highest cause of in older people. Half of those ages over 75 years who fracture their hip as a result
of a fall die within one year (Rawskey, 1998), and those who survive rarely regain complete
mobility (Marotolli et al 1992). Falls are associated with major morbidity, functional decline and

Britain s cooperation with the trade route involved the confiscation of the West African Coast and
the establishment of unkempt prisons to hold enslaved Africans awaiting purchase by overseas
traders. In 1660 and 1663, Trade Acts passed in the British parliament, implying the dependency of
overseas slave traders on British goods, paralleling the rise of the sugar industry and attempts to
establish influence regarding governmental economic policies in line with slave trader interests.
Money earned from slave trade plantations aided in the generation of commerce for the British
economy and an increased development of new financial institutions. Subsequently, trading vessels,
primarily constructed in Liverpool, contained trade goods such as guns, ammunition, rum and cloth
were exchanged for slaves. Additionally to the objectification of the African peoples, the conditions
of the trade ships furthered the inhumanity of the exchange. A manuscript by Theophilus Conneau

  • 2. Analysis Of Henrik Wolff s Bullet s The Brain Imagine death. What happens in your final moments? Are you going to think about your loved ones or just simply reminisce on one of the happiest moments of your existence? What would be your very final thought to think? The short story, Bullet in the Brain , is a very intriguing, well articulated fictional writing piece that captures what happens in the split second of death through the main characterAnders. Written by Tobias Wolff , the story follows a man who finds the clichГ© in anything and his final thoughts of his life as a bullet is moving through his brain. Saying I enjoyed this story would be the understatement of the century. The short storyis purely brilliant and one of the most thought provoking stories I have read in a while. The story takes place inside an old pompous bank building. Anders, a book critic, cannot make it to the bank until right before closing time so, of course, the line is long and the women he gets stuck waiting in line behind puts him in the worst mood possible. Anders is a man who has critiqued the beauty out of life and in turn has let it turn him bitter. Anders could not be any more irritated while waiting in line because the teller decides to neglect her job to flirt with a man. Instead of taking his anger out on the bank teller, he takes it out on two ladies in front of him who were just trying to make conversation. But in the blink of an eye, everything changes and a plot twist occurs. Suddenly two men in ski masks are attempting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Use of Characters in A Man For All Seasons by Robert Bolt The Use of Characters in A Man For All Seasons by Robert Bolt In Robert Bolt s A Man For All Seasons , there is a significant key to the use of characters. Bolt uses the characters in this play very well and in an unique fashion. Bolt has the character the common man, who takes the roles as many other characters. This is what makes this play special in its own way. Bolt uses the common man as other characters which makes the reader really think. He uses the common man as the narrator, servant, publican or innkeeper, boatman, foreman of the jury, and the executioner. The common man is used in this play as a symbol of just common everyday people with common jobs. These people are not of high class just common people. The common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is precisely More s tactic, too (Bryfonski,Harris 90). The publicans pub is where Cromwell and Rich plot their conspiracy on More. Cromwell tells Rich of his deviant plan but, Rich wanted no part. Cromwell grabbed Rich, sits him down and gives him a proposition that Rich would not refuse. This is where Rich betrays More. The common man as the role of the boatman is important where as this is the point in the play that it is unhealthy to know More. When More is out late trying to get home, he calls for a lone boatman also on his way home. The boatman is off duty but, is willing to take More home because he believes More will make it worth his while (Bolt 25). More says that there are fixed rates and he will pay what he always does. The whole way the boatman would not give up. He hassled More about the rate but, More did not budge. The boatman is just a common man trying to earn some fast cash. As foreman of the jury, this common man has more power than any one person should have. The foreman of the jury has the final say to convict Sir Thomas More of treason. With the jury being poles with hats on them and the foreman of the jury being told what to say, More has no chance of getting out of these counterfeit charges. The foreman of the jury sentences More to execution without a second thought. Even though More is a honest man and sticks to what he believes in, this is Bolt s way of asserting that even under the greatest of pressures man can exist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Inflatable Hot Tub Why Portable Hot Tubs Are So Beneficial The people who purchase portable hot tubs usually fall into the following categories: need a more affordable option, don t have too much space in their homes or backyards, and don t want to permanently install a space in their yards for the hot tubs. Though others will frown and say that inflatable tubs are subpar when compared to permanent ones, we believe that inflatable tubs offer many benefits that permanently installed ones certainly cannot offer. Move the Hot Tub Whenever You Want Remember that when you install a large permanent tub in your backyard, its location is pretty much set in stone. Sure, you could move the tub if you really wanted to, but that s a whole lot of manpower, time, and money... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you don t want to purchase a cheaper option and wish to get the most out of your experience, you have the options of more high quality units that will provide jet controls and air pumps. These tubs even rival the features of some in ground units, with the added benefit of being portable. Inflatable tubs like these are definitely pricier, but offer so many different advantages. How to Keep Your Inflatable Hot Tub in Top Shape Inflatable hot tubs are definitely easier to take care of than the other classic options, but you still have to remember to keep them clean and well serviced. In order to maintain your hygiene and keep the water sanitary, review the information below to better take care of your inflatable hot tub. Note: Not all portable tubs are inflatable. The following tips are meant for completely inflatable spas, so make sure yours is the same. Clean Out the Water on a Weekly Basis A guaranteed way of maintaining the hygiene of your inflatable hot tub is to simply empty out all the water from it on a weekly basis. Most inflatable tubs don t require any chemicals to clean the water, considering that they are smaller and hold less water. • 5. The Legend Of Jack The Ripper England has always been known for their elevated culture and afternoons fit for tea, but in the small town of Whitechapel, London around 1888 this was not the case. Poverty played a big role during this time period and mothers of small families had to prostitutes themselves in order to provide meals for their families. Between August and November of 1888, a notorious murderer rose to the surface, slaughtering at least five women escorts. The legend of Jack the Ripperis one of the most famous, yet unsolved mysteries of English crime. I.Suspected Murder Victims August 31, 1888, was the first killing, Mary Ann Nichols was found dead on the side of a street at four o clock in the morning. She had been dead for approximately 20 minutes, her throat had been slit, her abdomen mutilated with one deep jagged wound, several incisions across the abdomen, and three or four similar cuts on the right side caused by the same knife at least 6 8 inches long used violently and downwards. There seemed to be surprise at the small amount of blood at the crime scene, about enough to fill two large wine glasses, or half a pint at the most (Llewellyn). This comment led to the suspicion that Nichols was not killed where her body was found, but the blood from her wounds had soaked into her clothes and hair, and there was little doubt that she had been killed at the crime scene by a swift slash to the throat. Death would have been instantaneous, and the abdominal injuries, which would have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Bird Motif Of Hitchcock s Films Revisited Robin Wood, in Hitchcock s Films Revisited, argues that much of the meaning that the audience derives from Psycho involves spectatorship through character development.1 What makes Psycho such a timeless film is its intricate and extensive use of symbols. One symbol never really takes precedence over the other, and are largely left up to the viewer s interpretation. Psychos symbols have not been discussed in great detail based on the information presented in the readings thus far this semester, but this dissertation will attempt to illuminate the purpose of at least one of these symbols: that of the bird. Hitchcock uses the bird both obviously and ambiguously throughout the film. These instances, which are primarily psychological and sexual in nature, are developed through the film s two central characters, Marion Crane and Norman Bates, and reveal fundamental truths about the psyche and about human nature in general. The bird motif, despite being a central element of Hitchcock s films, was developed before the action of the film even commences. This film was based off of a book, of the same name, by Robert Bloch. In the novel, the central female protagonist s name is Mary, and in the film, it is Marion. Both women, however, share the same last name: Crane.2,6 Cranes, like Marion herself, spen[d] much of their time in self directed activities to maintain life. 3 Marion lives very much in her own microcosm, with a noncommittal man and a mundane office job as its stars. ... Dystopian literature exposes the negative results of the poor decision making of society. Unlike a Utopia, that is an ideal world, a dystopia is the contrary: a world in which everything is unpleasant, typically a totalitarian or enviromentally degraded one. The government is usually a controlling one and it tries to maintain a perfect society by using technological and moral control. Because of DeVos support of school choice and vouchers, Bellwether Education Partners reported on basic facts relating to Michigan public and charter schools (Mead, 2017). Not only is it important to determine what constitutes achievement in regard to education, but it is important to identify the factors that can affect it. Illegal activities and gangs are more prevalent in lower income neighborhoods and can have negative influences on the amount of effort a student puts into their studies (Willingham, 2011). Less access to proper nutrition and healthcare can lead to increased absenteeism and reduced access to instruction (Kapinga, 2014). An increased level of mental health issues and distress can also be attributed to low SES (Baum, Garafalo, Yali, 1999). Any or all of the factors mentioned above can produce chronic stress which can negatively affect achievement (Kapinga, 2014). It only confirms that man became more attached to the environment meanwhile formulating various emotions. He would bury the dead near his habitation and built separate cemeteries and structured graves to dispose off the dead stipulating his respect for the dead. Neolithic period holds evidence of childrens bones stored in jars showing the increased complexity of man and his emotions. Man was more concerned about the dead .The Mesolithic period included simpler burials than those in Neolithic, demonstrating that man was still adapting and his emotions were still enhancing. The continued usage of red ochre indicates that its symbolic value was probably passed down through generations. Full Range Leadership According to Bruce Avolio, What we have clearly learned is that leaders who can balance transactional and transformational leadership across time, situations, and challenges are the most effective (Avolio 2011, 49). People have a greater sense of ownership at the highest levels in terms of identification and are willing to provide the extra effort needed to succeed (Avolio 2011, 49). Yet, Rusty Ricketson wrote, Those who embrace the followerfirst perspective are not dependent on titles or positions in order to gain a sense of identity and worth. As the number of students is predicted only to increase in the years to come, the University must reflect on the housing options for these 37,100 students. Freshman students required to live on campus face a difficult situation lack of housing. With that being said, the best and most efficient way to cope with the ever growing population is to allow freshmen to live off campus, and build more apartments around campus to allow thousands of more students to have places to live in the future. • 18. A Research Paper On Lyme Disease Lyme Disease I chose to do my research paper on Lyme disease. During my research, I found a lot of interesting facts about Lyme disease. The disease is caused by bacteria, called Borrelia burgdorferi, which is only transmitted to humans when they are bitten by an infected tick. Lyme disease was first discovered in 1975, in Lyme, Connecticut, after a group of children were diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. This eventually led them to discover the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi. The disease was given its name in 1982, after the town of Lyme, Connecticut. According to Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Lyme diseaseis the most commonly reported vectorborne illness in the United States. In 2014, it was the fifth most common Nationally Notifiable disease. Lyme disease is most prevalent in the northeast and upper Midwest. Your chances of acquiring Lyme disease can be greatly affected by where you live or travel to. Many outdoor activities put you at risk. Since deer ticks feed on mice and white tailed deer, they are most commonly found in heavily wooded areas. Another risk factor of Lyme disease is having exposed skin. Since ticks attach easily to bare skin, being exposed in wooded or grassy areas will increase your risk. If you are bitten by a tick, the final chance of prevention is to remove the tick quickly and properly. In most cases, to infect it s host, a tick must remain attached to the skin for at least thirty six hours. If you safely remove the tick ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Northern 1862 draft was an attempt to let states handle their own conscriptions, instead of the old volunteer militia. The next draft took place on September 16, 1940 for World War I and remained in effect continuously until 1973. The president, Woodrow Wilson, decided that A draft was needed and nearly 3,000,000 soldiers were drafted following the Service Act of 1917. (Understanding the U.S. MilitaryDraft History 1). The reasoning behind President Wilson calling for the draft is because Before the draft only 73,000 soldiers volunteered during the first 6 weeks of World War I (Understanding the U.S. Military Draft History 1). Before July of 1973 The draft was in effect continuously from 1940 to 1973 (Smith 1). This means that more than 10,000,000 men were drafted and sent off into battle throughout the past wars. One of the most controversial drafts was the infamous Vietnam War Era. The Vietnam war was also called the Ten Thousand Day War because of how long it took to end. In this paper, the 1962 version of The Miracle Worker is discussed and analyzed in terms of these communication concepts. The movie revolves around the story of Helen Keller, a seven year old girl who became deaf and blind after contracting an infection during her infancy. In order to teach Helen how to communicate, her parents (Kate and Captain Keller) hire a visually impaired schoolteacher by the name of Anne Sullivan. The film demonstrates Helen s struggle to communicate with her parents and Anne and how Helen slowly begins to learn, despite her disabilities. The concepts that I learned in class each helped me to see the movie from a different perspective. The topics of conflict, perception, and non verbal communication make up the majority of the film s plotline. Each one of these topics will be discussed in a paragraph about how it was represented in the film. Throughout the course of the film, there were various conflicts that took place between the main characters. The conflicts mainly occur between Anne and Helen and between Kate and Captain Keller. Most of the time, the conflicts are started because of an overall frustration trying to communicate with Helen. He needs to understand that there is a difference between both of these clauses. When there is a breach of the contract, the limitation clause that is relied on in a contract and enforced would make an effort to pay for certain damages. First of all, though both having been influenced by Buddhism, the reincarnations of main characters in the two stories are somehow different because they are also affected by other ideologies and cultures. In Vietnamese Tam Cam, Tam undergo four times of reincarnation (a nightingale, a white cedar tree, a wooden loom and a persimmon fruit) whereas in Neang Angkat, the girl reborns two times. The reincarnation process of Tam is linked with Confucian ideology of female virtues and behaviour. For instance, her transformation from a persimmon fruit into a human shape to do the housework and cook for the old woman represents the virtue of skillful of work, which is one of four Confucian virtues that Vietnamese women need to obtain (Bui, 2009). Differently, two forms of reincarnation in Cambodian Cinderella a banana tree and a grove of bamboo only describe two symbolic images of this eastern country. Another difference is the supernatural power. Whereas the Bụt in Tam Cam stands for the Buddha, the Spirit of Virtue in Cambodia s Neang Angkat is said to be stand in for her dead mother (Bettelheim, 1974). The Bụt is a religious image, appearing in many other folk lores in Vietnam and willing to help whoever encounter difficulties while the Spirit of Virtue in Neang Angkat is just a symbol of motherhood. A Reflection On My Values Speech By reflecting upon my Values Speech, I will be more aware of what skills I have already accomplished and what skills I need to improve on in order to prepare myself better for the next big speech as well as to further improve my public speaking skills. Now that I look back at the recording of my presentation, I clearly saw strengths that were shown, but there were also weaknesses that I revealed, diminishing the overall powerful effect that my speechshould have gave. As I watched Amy Cuddy s TED talk called Your body language shapes who you are , I learned more about body language and what I should ve done when I presented my Values Speech. Throughout my reflection, I will discuss my strengths that I portrayed during my speech such as pacing and eye contact as well as the limitations, for instance, stuttering and abruptly finishing my sentences, and then I will finish off my reflection with the levels of confidence and body language I portrayed. First off, there were many strengths that I believed were demonstrated within my Values Speech such as pacing and eye contact with my fellow classmates, but despite the strengths that were seen, the weaknesses of stuttering and finishing sentences abruptly created a weak feeling at the end of my presentation. As I watched the recording of my presentation on repeat, I noticed that my pacing was very well executed. I didn t speak too fast nor did I speak too slow, which is good because my classmates were able to follow along with what I was saying. Not only that, but I also provided eye contact to my classmates, showing that I was well prepared and did not need to read my note cards as much. Of course, with strengths, there were also weaknesses portrayed. I often stuttered at a couple of phrases because of my anxiety and I would also finish some of my sentences abruptly, leaving a poor execution. I realized that once I began saying a certain sentence and mess up mid way through, I would end the sentence with words that wouldn t be as clear. Now knowing my weaknesses and strengths, I will better prepare myself for my next upcoming speech by practicing my speeches with more word choices when I say it verbally, allowing myself to become more aware of the variety of ... Many people began to question how things work and look to reason and science rather than superstition and metaphysical thought for answers. Nontraditional thinkers known as philosophes began to make their radical ideas public and soon European society was taken by an intellectual storm. The primary satirist of the French Enlightenment, Voltaire, was a deist and a renowned playwright. Using his quick wit and talent with words, Voltaire satirized popular philosophy and political thought through his most famous work titled Candide. With its fantastical and violent plot, the story served as a public platform for Voltaire to criticize modern issues of religion, government and philosophy. Speaking on a literal level, a lot of work happened for this paper to come into a material item that is now something anybody can read. First, an inventor thought up and created this paper. Which was then typed on a computer which itself went through years of development, blueprinting, designing, and many other complicated processes. After hours of revision this paper was printed on a printer that was also developed and designed to do its job efficiently. Things do not pop out of thin air, they take development which can sometimes involve a long, tedious process. Just like the development of this essay did not happen overnight nor come easy, technologydoes not either. Though chaotic, the development and progress of technology is what propels our innovative society forward. When new technology is first introduced an array of opinions from all perspectives come spewing out. Right now this is being experienced with the release of the new iPhone 7.
