The Impacts of the Emergence of Sociology on the Works of...
The emergence of sociology as a discipline is a result of the social, economic, political and
technological developments in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In this essay, the adequacy of
this viewpoint will be analysed by pointing out these developments and highlighting their impact on
the works of Emile Durkheim, Karl Marx and Max Weber. The three are considered because they are
regarded as the pioneers of sociology. Furthermore, the relevance of the early work of the above to
modern sociology will be highlighted.
The eighteenth and nineteenth centuries was a period characterised by large population growth
coupled with a large demographic shift. This was aided by technological innovations such as the
development of railroads and the steam engine. The demographic shift was mainly to urban areas
where there was rapid growth and development in the manufacturing industry. The developments were
driven by curious scientists and professionals who were extending the influence of large institutions,
in biology, banking and etc., to larger portions of the society. The consequence was the emergence of a
capitalist society.
The chaos and social disorder that resulted from the series of political revolutions ushered in by the
French Revolution in 1789 disturbed many early social theorists. While they recognized that a return
to the old order was impossible, they sought to find new sources of order in societies that had been
traumatized by dramatic political changes.

Causes Of The Watergate Scandal
Considering the post war era of American society and the intense political conflicts, the Watergate
scandal increased problems in society. The Watergate scandal was a result of many events beginning
in the late 1950 s to 1960 s such as Vietnam, Nixon s campaign, and the Pentagon papers. In the late
1960 s Richard Nixon won the presidency over Hubert Humphrey in what is called the closest election
in American history. This election was the beginning to what would become the Watergate scandal in
1970 s. Some of Nixon s policies for the government involved expansion of federal agencies, which
gave him easy access to classified documents or files.
One major event that triggered the infamous scandal was in 1971 when the Pentagon Papers were
released by the New York Times; A few months later, the Plumbers unit broke into an office in attempt
to discover files on who released them, Daniel Ellsberg. These Plumbers broke into the Democratic
National Committee in attempt to find information about Nixon s opponent. Many public officials
were involved in the cover up and break in itself which led to widespread corruption in the
government. Some of those involved in these events were James McCord, a former CIA agent;
Richard Nixon, the president; Sam Ervin, the man who first began to investigate the crimes; John
Dean; John Ehrlichman and Gordon Liddy. Many events led up to the Watergate scandal, but it left a
major mark on American history and holds a crucial significance to the

The Prince Of Tides By Pat Conroy
The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy is a compelling narrative in which an ordinary southern South
Carolina family, the Wingos, experience extraordinary circumstances deeply rooted in the canticles of
childhood affliction. It is a narrative of survival; survival of familial bonds, mortality, and unaffected
love when the Wingo parents, Lila and Henry Wingo, thoughtlessly wreak havoc on the fragile lives of
their children: Tom, Luke, and Savannah Wingo. It is a story of sand dollars, marsh tides, shrimp,
marsh hens, meandering boats through the salt marsh of Colleton, and everything the South Carolina
sun imprints upon permanently. Most importantly, The Prince of Tides is the story of Tom Wingo, a
white Southern male, who represses his past until he reconciles with the wreckage he abandons in the
salt marshes and consequently, liberates himself from his internal affliction. Tom Wingo lives on
Sullivans Island, South Carolina the sanctuary in which he neglects his past with his three daughters
and his wife, Sallie; however, their family dynamics do not replicate those of the archetypal Southern
family. For one, Tom takes care of the domestic affairs while Sallie brings home the money as she
divulges into the disciplined study of medicine. In the 1980s, the domestic Southern Belle and hard
working, sexist, racist male were prevalent in the distinct culture of the South (Conlee 4). It is evident
Tom adores his daughters, but the translation of his love comes in subtle

Impact Of Arch On Roman Architecture
The development of concrete and the arch was integral to the advancement of Roman architecture.
Both had a great impact on the people of Rome from all walks of life.
When designing a building, the load that must be supported is a very important consideration. Various
building materials will each have their own levels of strength and ability to support loads. In addition
to this, the way in which the building material is utilized may also play a role in the ability of the
building to support large loads. The implementation of concrete as a building material led to much
stronger walls and supports in Roman buildings. Additionally, the development of the arch was
revolutionary in its ability to support loads. The types and sizes of structures that the Romans could
build became unlike anything seen before, and they also became very interested in working with
interior spaces, as well (Ambler, n.d.). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The arch continues to feature prominently in...designs and with good reason: Its semicircular structure
elegantly distributes compression through its entire form and diverts weight onto its two abutments
(Lamb, 2000). The key to the structure is located in the center of the arch and is called a keystone.
Remove it and the entire structure collapses. The entire structure is dependent upon the architect not
designing an opening that is too wide. That would also lead to increased pressure and decreased
structural integrity (Lamb, 2000).
As you can imagine, the arch opened the door to a great many changes in structural design. The
Romans utilized it in their homes and in their public buildings. It found its way into bridge design, as
well. Yet, the arch alone does not explain the amazing advancements made in Roman architecture.
Concrete also play a huge part in shaping Roman construction. As such, it is also important to
understand exactly what concrete

Contribution Of Entrepreneurs And New Zealand Business...
Introduction
The Investopedia defines the entrepreneur as a person who starts his own business by taking lot of
risks. (Entrepreneur, 2014). Most of the large organisations around the world have been started by
entrepreneurs. The contribution of entrepreneurs to a country s business environment holds a high
value. EY Entrepreneur of The Year Award s Director, Jon Hooper stated that Successful entrepreneurs
have an extraordinary passion, self belief and that keeps them going when others might give up.
Because of this, they are able to make a significant contribution to New Zealand s economy and to the
community by creating jobs, driving productivity, fuelling growth and inspiring others (EY, 2014).
Entrepreneurs are contributing in various ways to the business environment and some of them will be
by providing employment, growing economy, innovating new technologies, creating market
competitiveness and also by providing contributions to the society. Therefore, this essay is a critical
evaluation of the contribution of entrepreneurs to the New Zealand business environment.
Contribution to the New Zealand Employment
According to the New Zealand treasury, nearly one out of 7 adults is an entrepreneur in New Zealand.
Entrepreneurship always creates job opportunities for the educated qualified people as well as for the
people who don t have much education qualifications. Entrepreneurship is one of the factors to reduce
unemployment rate in New Zealand. New Zealand s Total

How To Scope Out An Office That Fits Your Values
The way we work has change very drastic. Instead of working in a cubical most day, we have the
chance to work at home and do work online, or even to be in a foreign countries and still be able to
work miles away. In the article How to Scope Out an Office That Fits Your Values, the environment
that you work is very important. The accuracy of what they are saying surprise me. Because the
environment that you work on does have an effect on your work productivity. Even at home you have
your environment that you work on and if something changes it affects how focus you are on your
school work. Meaning that we need to look for a work environment that we can feel productive in.

Case Study Of Acute Appendicitis
Out of 100 patients studied in this research, the age incidence varies between 12 to 47 years, the
maximum incidence of acute appendicitis was found in age group of 21 40 years [56 patients (56%)],
followed by age group of ≤20 years [28 patients (28%)] and lastly the age group of 41 60 years [16
patients (16%)]. Regarding to sex, males were more than females [68 males (68%) vs 32 females
(32%) with a ratio of 2.13:1 respectively]. Married patients were suffering from acute appendicitis
more than single patients (52% vs 48% respectively). Regarding to job, students were the maximum
job suffering from acute appendicitis (32%) followed by workers (28) then house wife (20%). Acute
appendicitis were more prevalent among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concurs with our results, the incidence of acute appendicitis were more in males than females
(68% vs 32%) with a ratio of 2.13:1. But other investigators, documented different results in which
that male: female ratio was 1: 1.66 [Mardan et al., 2007]. Ultrasonography is an affordable,
noninvasive tool whose results can be obtained more quickly than for C T scans [Incesu et al., 1997].
Many studies proved that, ultrasound has a high sensitivity ranged from 55% to 98% and specificity
ranged from 50% to 100%, PPV ranged from 80.48% to 97.4, NPV ranged from 19.51% to 89.19%
and accuracy ranged from 70.91% to 81%.. These results emphasize that appositive ultrasonographic
findings for appendicitis is strongly in favor of a diagnosis of acute appendicitis. However a negative
ultrasound findings is not sufficient to rule out the diagnosis and discharge the patient [Singh et al.,
2014; Incesu et al., 1997; Flum et al., 2002; Nasiri et al., 2012]. But in our study, ultrasound
sensitivity= 60%, specificity= 0%, PPV= 70.59%, NPV= 0% and accuracy= 30%, comparing our
results with the previous results reveals that the ultrasound provides less reliable findings for the
diagnosis of acute appendicitis in our study. These variations in reported data may be due to that, the
ultrasound is an operator dependent technique and the results vary depending on how is performing

The Work And Paintings Of Jacob Lawrence
For my research paper, I will be studying the work and paintings of Jacob Lawrence. Jacob Lawrence
was an American painter and was very highly commended African American artist of the 20 century.
What he is best known for is his Migration Series. He was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on
September 7, 1917. When he was the age of two his mother deposited him and his two younger
siblings in foster care in Philadelphia after his parents divorced. When he was thirteen he went to work
in New York City and there he went to join his mother. He also spent fifteen years teaching as a
professor at the University of Washington. Lawrence was also widely known for producing narrative
collections such as the Migration Series and War Series. Shortly after Lawrence had arrived there, he
was introduced to art when his mother had enrolled him in Utopia Children s Center, which then had
an after school art program. At the age of 16 he dropped out of school and took classes at the Harlem
Art Workshop where it was taught by Charles Ashton and he very often visited the Metropolitan
Museum of Art. In 1937, he won a scholarship to the American Artist School in New York. When he
graduated in 1939 he had received funding from the Works Progress Administration Federal Art
Project. By that time, he had already established his own type of modernism and that is then when he
began to create his narrative series; where he would paint about 30 paintings or more for that one
subject. In 1941, he had

opinion, is helplessly watching your relative forget who you are, the maintenance of those connections
is incredibly important. Some of my most visceral memories are associated with the music I listened
to with my family when I was a child. Listening to music from my childhood not only triggers
memories in my brain, but also sensory and emotional memories that resonate in a different part of my

One of Canada s foremost contemporary writers, Margaret Atwood is an internationally renowned
poet, literary critic, novelist, humanitarian and political activist. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, in 1939, she
spent most of her childhood in the Canadian wilderness. She has won praise and acclaim for her
ability to incorporate humor, biting wit, irony and symbolism into her writing style. Her themes
usually depict the very nature of human behavior and issues of power between men and women as it
relates to society ( The Writer. New York Times). Her very first novel, The Edible Women, published
in 1970, explored issues of oppression, self identity and power, as it relates to the broader social

Estelle begins her monologue by saying that you can not even look at a magazine without being

women are perceived in a condescending and degrading fashion. Incapable to evaluate their own
feelings in reference to rape and that they do not possess the intuitiveness to recognize the magazines

rape and finds it incomprehensible, you think it was just invented...I mean what s so new about it

insecurities of self consciousness, powerlessness, fear and loss of control over their own will and
condemns the magazine for minimizing the seriousness of such a sensitive issue. Estelle discovers that

My observation was spent at Bedford Rd School in Pleasantville, New York on January 9th to 13th

teachers one is a teaching assistant and the other is the teacher of the room. There are 20 children in

the side in the room on a table and some get pulled out with a special education teacher. The
kindergarten includes a morning and afternoon snack as well as lunch for each student. The students

Mrs. Vecchiariello referred to curriculum framework as she planned her lessons with what she would

Impact Of The Industrial Revolution On The World Essay
Since the first time an image was transported to a laptop screen or a handheld device was used to
communicate to people in other countries, the world has been a system of calls, emails, texts, and
networks that are all categorized under the term technology. We started off with technology that
helped us forage for food or manage our livestock. However, tech today is a basis of
telecommunications and the use of different mechanical mechanisms that are seemingly robotic. How
far we have come from the beginning of the first civilizations to what we are able to do now illustrates
the impact of the industrial revolution and, some may say, tech revolution. We are still booming and at
every corner that is turned new advancements are introduced into society that was not thought about
before. It seems that we should be all tech savvy and a life without technology would be a little
unnerving to say the least. Others say that this dependence makes robots or us less human. Throughout
the research conducted on technology, there were news articles assumingly concluding that we are
humans merging with technology and turning into robots and another similarly arguing that we need
to become cyborgs or risk humans being turned into robots. These may not be scholarly articles but
are interesting to see and notice the perspective that people believe to be true. The extremely absurd
notion that we are so heavily dependent on technology that we will turn into robots may actually be
true.

Essay on Understanding the Underground Dancer
Understanding the Underground Dancer
If you have seen him in clubs, in parties, and even in the street you will surely remember him. The
Underground Dancer is a figure of the modern world that cannot be dismissed. Anthropologists
explain dance as the expression of sexual desires, but the Underground Dancer is different, and
therefore, often misunderstood. It is hard to pinpoint what he is, and what he looks like, all I can
provide is shots in the dark, a desperate attempt to shed light to this misunderstood personae. The
underground dancer is a spiritual beggar, a metaphorical call for freedom, a revelrying Dionysus, an
artist and a work of art he matters not merely because he is different, but because he gives us new eyes

It is his favorite song and all the dreams are flushed away, his spiteful stare returning to this oh, so

routine, of the day in day out, of the same ol , same ol , of everyday existence. Like an ill man he may
swear inside him, and like Dostoevsky s Underground Man he will let out a high pitched cry that
speaks: Enough! This world is not enough! He is still motionless for although he wants to dance, his
mind is not at ease what is the use of dancing anyway, when all the troubles of the world burden his
shoulders (Kaufmann 71, 72)? He remains inert, perhaps slightly trembling, a tingling anticipation of
an unknown surge tickling his soul. His inaction drives him insane because if he refuses to dance
without a reason, he will remain inert but if, on the other hand, dances without a reason, his lack of
determination will manifest itself as self consciousness and fall pray to the eyes of his audience. But
who ever heard of rationality as prerequisite for action? The whole of History is littered with examples
of irrational choices, where man acts without consideration for reason or advantage. The Underground
Dancer realizes this, and does not wish for himself a good, virtuous or advantageous choice but simply
to satisfy his own caprice, in a sense, feed his own desire for the single most advantageous advantage :
independent choice (72). He must dance,

In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain explores the ideas of growth and maturity as
shown through Huck s realization of Jim s humanity, his choice choosing to steal the money from the

maturity in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was Huck s gradual realization that Jim was a human
being and his growing sympathy towards him. Huck states, I do believe he cared just as much for his
people as white folks do for their n (Twain 155). Huck deals with constant inner conflict during his
many adventures. He is pressured by society s view on slavery, influencing Huck to turn in Jim and
force him back into bondage. But, as worded by Joseph

External And Internal And Physical Changes In Adolescence
Physical Development Adolescence is a period rapid phases of human development begins at puberty
and ends at emerging adulthood. During adolescence, young people go through many changes as they
move into physical maturity. There are two types of physical changes during adolescence. They are
external and internal. External changes are clearly seen and noticed from outside. For example,
Increase in height and weight of the body, growth of sexual organs, appearance of moustache and
bread in a male child, etc. Similarly internal changes are the changes that appear in the internal
systems of the body such as changes and development of digestive system, circulatory system,
respiratory system, glandular system, etc. The growth of height in girls is almost completed by the age
of seventeen to eighteen years whereas the growth of height in boys remains two years later than the
girls. Physical weight also increases along with their height. Various organs of boys proportionally and
gradually increase. There is a growth and development of sex organs in both boys and girls but they
are not fully matured for reproduction. Various changes such as increases in the size of penis and
testis, sprouting hair around genitals, production of spermatozoa, emergence of moustache and beard,
sprouting hair under armpit, change of voice, wet dream, etc. take place in boys. In girls, size of

The Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand Franz at Sarajevo
It was a peaceful day at Sarajevo. The town had gathered to see the parade, but in the end, witnessed a
crime. Archduke Franz and his wife Duchess Sophie were driving through Sarajevo and expected to
arrive peacefully, but Gavrilo Princip had an assassination in mind for the family. The assassination of
Duke Franz Ferdinand was the most significant assassination of the twentieth century. The series of
unfortunate events, the lives of the killer and the killed, the coincidence and the troubles that ensued
because of this event were key to the beginning of World War I.
Franz Ferdinand was traveling to Sarajevo in June 1914 to inspect the imperial armed forces in Bonzia
and Herzgovina. As they were cruising through the town in an open car, Serbian nationalist Nedjelko
Cabrinovic threw a bomb at their vehicle. The bomb rolled off of the back their vehicle and injured a
few officers and a few civilian. The car sped off and quickly made it to a safe place. Later in the day,
Duke Franz Ferdinand went to visit the people injured. As they turned down the street not expecting
anything, BANG, the royalty had been shot. The assassination that occurred caused two world wars,
eighty thousand deaths, the Rise of Hitler. This may not have happened if Princip had not have been

Plato s Phaedo Essay
Plato s Phaedo
Plato s Phaedo is a dialog between Phaedo, Cebes, and Simmias depicting Socrates explanation as to
why death should not be feared by a true philosopher. For if a person truly applies oneself in the right
way to philosophy, as the pursuit of ultimate truth, they are preparing themselves for the very act of
dying. Plato, through Socrates, bases his proof on the immortality of the soul, and it being the origin
of our intellect. Several steps must be taken for the soul to be proven immortal. First the body and all
the information acquired though it must be discredited. For without the question being addressed of

Our intellect makes the correction that it was always a man, and it was actually a visual error that
made him seem female. Distance or any other means of creating ambiguity leads us to differentiate
between what we experience and what we know to be actually happening. If a differentiation has to
take place between the crude sensory information and what we view as reality, than the truth or
meaning within an object is not held within the sensory perception of it. Well, have you ever
apprehended them with any other bodily sense? By them I mean them all, including tallness or health
or strength in themselves, the real nature of any given thing what it actually is. Is it through the body
that we get our truest view of them? Isn t it true that in any inquiry you are likely to attain more nearly
to knowledge of your object in proportion to the care and accuracy with which you have prepared
yourself to understand that object in itself? (2) Besides the processing of inaccurate information, the
temptations and desires of the body are so strong and numerous that the philosopher never gets an

contradictions are in fact the fundamental processes of life. To view these as burdensome is to

The Most Famous Work Of Art
The 13th and 14th centuries in Italy are as known as the early Renaissance. Several artists remain well
recognized from this period in art history. Duccio di Buoninsegna was an Italian painter, active in the
city of Siena. His most famous work of art is the Maesta Altarpiece located in the Cathedral of Siena.
At that time, Siena was very competitive with Florence. The greatest Florentine painter was Giotto di
Bondone. He was a couple years younger than Duccio. Giotto s crowning achievement is a series of
fresco murals painted in the Arena Chapel. Duccio and Giotto were two astonishing artists.
Duccio s Maesta and Giotto s fresco painting in the Arena Chapel both tell us a narrative story of the
life of The Virgin Mary and Christ. Both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His stillness is in contrast to the crowd, it allows scenes flow around him. Judas reaches and kisses
Christ from the left, there appear to be regret in Judas face. There is not apparent though his
aggressive posture. Christ s right hand is pointing forward. This may express Christ s future
forgiveness of Judas. Duccio s depiction leaves more space for imagination for the viewer. In Giotto s
painting, Christ is in profile. This allows for eye contact between Christ and Judas. Christ is a little
taller than Judas, and he gaze silently upon Judas s face. From the gaze of the Christ, we can feel a
sense of forgiveness and sorrow. Moreover, we can feel Juda feels sorry for what he has done. Their
expressions make the painting more emotional, they emphasize the nobility of the Christ and let
viewer have a better connection to this emotional content.
Both Duccio and Giotto captured the act of Saint Peter slicing an ear off of a roman solider. Duccio is
telling the story of the arrest of Christ though a passing of time. In Duccio s painting, we can clearly
see the anger on Peter s face, he is next to Judas on his left. The viewer will draw their attention to
Peter after viewing the moment of the kiss of Judas. Duccio made it a separate moment from the main
scene. In Giotto s painting, Peter is in the crowd he raises up his right arm, which is holding a knife
and reaches behind the

Wooramaroo Personal And Community Identity
Place is important in relation to personal and community identity because where we live, in a way
defines us. If we live in the country, we can identify with tropes of bush living or a rural lifestyle. If
we are in the city, that place and cityscape can determine our way of life and sense of belonging to that
place.
Wooramaroo is the story told from the viewpoint of female protagonist Cara McGeever s ten year old
son, Scott, and their change of place as immigrants from inner city working class Liverpool to
Outback Australia in the 1970s.
The novels that have influenced my story are Mullumbimby, Breath, and Heat and Light. Cara
McGeever has suffered loss of place and identity through moving to Australia. Personal and
community identity through place will be discussed through female characters Jo Breen in
Mullumbimby, Eva Sanderson in Breath, and Pearl and Amy Kresinger in Heat and Light.
Life in rural Australian presents strong community spirit and opportunities for Cara to belong to that
space. Outback regions have a strong sense of place because their people experience commonalities
such as dealing with the vagaries of nature. As Tuan (2001, 131) states, Attachment to place can
emerge from the experience of nature s intransigence. The locals bond together in time of need, as we
see at the end when the storm comes to Wooramaroo. It is this vital connection to the Outback that
Cara needs in order to build a new identity, and find a new sense of place. Tuan goes on to

Essay On Structural Components
The maintenance, restoration and development of structural components, is maybe one of the most
typical problems in construction field applications. In addition, a huge number of structures developed
in the past utilizing the ancient established design codes in various parts of the world are basically
structurally hazardous as indicated to the recent time design codes on the other hand the retrofitting
has become necessary due to the environmental degradation, heavier loading conditions and their life
spans. Therefore, various strengthening techniques are being introduced, historically the structural
components were repaired by post tensioning or jacketing with new concrete in conjunction with a

the only contribution of the concrete strength it also adds on the strength of the internal stirrups and
the longitudinal reinforcement. They are generally initiated from the flexure cracks and the propagated

Shear compression failure: This type of failure of a structure is caused due to the crushing of concrete
at compressive zone above the tip of the shear crack. This is basically observed in structural members
with low web reinforcement but sufficient longitudinal reinforcement. Shear cracks are initiated from
the flexure cracks but do not pass through the compressive region.
Shear tension failure: This type of crack tends to propagate along the main bars due to the secondary
flexure shear crack. In this circumstance the longitudinal reinforcement loses the bond with concrete
due to insufficient anchorage or the concrete cover subsequently leading to the failure.
Web crushing failure: In this type of failure the direct forces are transferred from the loading zone to

The Man Who Killed By Barbara Ehrenreich Essay
Barbara Ehrenreich goes on a venture as a minimum wage employer. During that time, she soon
realizes that it is difficult to remain stable in all courses of living with the amount of money she
makes. Throughout this experiment she is fully aware that losing her job would not affect her in any
way, which gives her the fortune of being able to influence others to speak up and claim for what they
deserve. There were hours of draining work to maintain a room over her head, a meal to eat, and
health care to fulfill her needs. Above all, at the end of the day, if Ehrenreich would find herself
having to live in her car or come to the trail of hunger, she had the advantage of quitting this lifestyle
or being able to cheat her way out of it. However, in her journey she did endure the majority of the
stress that came with these low wage professions which made her successful with some part of her
experiment. Ehrenreich elaborates on the fact that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is to demonstrate the unbelievably stressful occupations low class employers live with everyday, and
present to others who do not appreciate them because of their higher professions. Ehrenreich writes
about relatable struggles in their lives which can demonstrate to the world how tough it is in those
fields. Details about the excruciating pain and the difficulty of carrying on a load of the job can
change the point of view of those who are willing to read this book and influence them into thinking
twice before judging these employees. As a maid, Ehrenreich discusses her encounter with medical
needs but is turned down by Ted, who believes that a cure to a migraine is popping to Excedrins and
the cure to a rash is new latex gloves (Ehrenreich 87). If someone who is financially stable with a well
paying job were to read this, they would be astounded by the idea of people not being able to get the
care they need in order to maintain a healthy

The Pros And Cons Of Apartheid Schools
Although there is no apartheid law in place in the United States, there are still schools that follow the
same tradition. According to Tractenberg, Orfield, and Flaxman, every major city examined by a
federal court was found to have a long history of illegal public actions and decisions which fostered
segregation . As modern citizens, we should thrive for a diverse world in which our students are not
segregated whether by the color of their skin or social economic status. Unfortunately, apartheid
schools are prevalent in New Jersey which ranks 3rd in holding black students and 5th in holding
Latinos in apartheid schools. Although apartheid schools make up 8% of all schools in New Jersey,
they still hold 26% of black students and 13% of Latino s. Most of apartheid schools are often in
urban areas. In New Jersey, 12 districts that are 100% segregated from other cultures and social
economic status are Essex which holds three, two in Hudson, and one each in Camden, Mercer,
Middlesex, Monmouth, Passaic and Union. According to the article, school segregation in New Jersey
is worse than residential segregation . This statement presents a strong representation of the
segregation in school. Many would think that apartheid schools are the result of the neighborhood
however, that is not the case. Even white students who live in poor neighborhood do not attend an
apartheid school. The many factors that contributes to segregation is residential segregation, racial
differences, and

Lusitania Involvement In World War I
On May 7, 1915, World War 1 took a pivotal turn as German forces sunk the British ocean liner the
Lusitania killing over 1,198 people, including 128 Americans. For many of the allied Entente forces
and Americans, the sinking of the Lusitania was viewed as a clear unjust act of German aggression
and a call to war; however, the Lusitania s untimely demise was not an act of German aggression but
rather a cunning joint British and American exploit to win the war. Both Britain and America desired
for further American involvement in the war to ensure an Allied victory; however, to gain support for
American involvement in the war a reason was needed. The Lusitania had been stocked with
American munitions destined for Britain making it fair game under wartime law for German
submarines. Following multiple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following the dawn of WWI, both Britain and America desired an Allied victory, however for an
Allied victory to be attained America needed to enter the war justly; thus, a plan was needed. During
the years 1914 1915 Britain had accumulated a large amount of debt form numerous countries
including America to fuel the Allied war effort along the Western Front. In hopes of securing a timely
full reimbursement, the American government needed to ensure an Allied victory. While many
American companies were keen to export items to Britain, few were willing to import. From the years
1914 1915 alone, a £256 million trade deficit between Britain and the U.S was accumulated. The
increasing trade deficit and Allied lending forced Britain to borrow from the U.S. In 1915 a $500
million loan between Britain and private American banks, known as the Anglo French loan, was
secured. All loans provided by the U.S were to be paid off by Britain following the end of the war, and
America would

Hydroquinone
Hydroquinoe is a compound found in numerous skin products that is used for lightening skin. It is
contained in a lot of products that are aimed towards reducing the appearance of dark spots, freckles,
and acne scars. Hydroquinoe unfortunately does cause some dangerous health concerns. For one, it
causes skin irritation. Using this ingredient regularly can result in your skin starting to irritate. Some
people have even experienced extreme redness and itching when they applied it to their skin.
There are many alternatives to using products that contain hydroquinone. If you are searching for a
skin whitening product, look for one that is made of natural ingredients such as mandelic acid and
alpha hydroxy acids. Using products with these natural ingredients are way safer than using products
that contain hydroquinone. However, remember that even though skin whitening can help many skin
problems, it should only be used for treating problem regions, not for using all over. Try your best to
be comfortable in the skin you already

  • 2. The Impacts of the Emergence of Sociology on the Works of... The emergence of sociology as a discipline is a result of the social, economic, political and technological developments in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In this essay, the adequacy of this viewpoint will be analysed by pointing out these developments and highlighting their impact on the works of Emile Durkheim, Karl Marx and Max Weber. The three are considered because they are regarded as the pioneers of sociology. Furthermore, the relevance of the early work of the above to modern sociology will be highlighted. The eighteenth and nineteenth centuries was a period characterised by large population growth coupled with a large demographic shift. This was aided by technological innovations such as the development of railroads and the steam engine. The demographic shift was mainly to urban areas where there was rapid growth and development in the manufacturing industry. The developments were driven by curious scientists and professionals who were extending the influence of large institutions, in biology, banking and etc., to larger portions of the society. The consequence was the emergence of a capitalist society. The chaos and social disorder that resulted from the series of political revolutions ushered in by the French Revolution in 1789 disturbed many early social theorists. While they recognized that a return to the old order was impossible, they sought to find new sources of order in societies that had been traumatized by dramatic political changes. Socialism ... • 3. Causes Of The Watergate Scandal Considering the post war era of American society and the intense political conflicts, the Watergate scandal increased problems in society. The Watergate scandal was a result of many events beginning in the late 1950 s to 1960 s such as Vietnam, Nixon s campaign, and the Pentagon papers. In the late 1960 s Richard Nixon won the presidency over Hubert Humphrey in what is called the closest election in American history. This election was the beginning to what would become the Watergate scandal in 1970 s. Some of Nixon s policies for the government involved expansion of federal agencies, which gave him easy access to classified documents or files. One major event that triggered the infamous scandal was in 1971 when the Pentagon Papers were released by the New York Times; A few months later, the Plumbers unit broke into an office in attempt to discover files on who released them, Daniel Ellsberg. These Plumbers broke into the Democratic National Committee in attempt to find information about Nixon s opponent. Many public officials were involved in the cover up and break in itself which led to widespread corruption in the government. Some of those involved in these events were James McCord, a former CIA agent; Richard Nixon, the president; Sam Ervin, the man who first began to investigate the crimes; John Dean; John Ehrlichman and Gordon Liddy. Many events led up to the Watergate scandal, but it left a major mark on American history and holds a crucial significance to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Prince Of Tides By Pat Conroy The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy is a compelling narrative in which an ordinary southern South Carolina family, the Wingos, experience extraordinary circumstances deeply rooted in the canticles of childhood affliction. It is a narrative of survival; survival of familial bonds, mortality, and unaffected love when the Wingo parents, Lila and Henry Wingo, thoughtlessly wreak havoc on the fragile lives of their children: Tom, Luke, and Savannah Wingo. It is a story of sand dollars, marsh tides, shrimp, marsh hens, meandering boats through the salt marsh of Colleton, and everything the South Carolina sun imprints upon permanently. Most importantly, The Prince of Tides is the story of Tom Wingo, a white Southern male, who represses his past until he reconciles with the wreckage he abandons in the salt marshes and consequently, liberates himself from his internal affliction. Tom Wingo lives on Sullivans Island, South Carolina the sanctuary in which he neglects his past with his three daughters and his wife, Sallie; however, their family dynamics do not replicate those of the archetypal Southern family. For one, Tom takes care of the domestic affairs while Sallie brings home the money as she divulges into the disciplined study of medicine. In the 1980s, the domestic Southern Belle and hard working, sexist, racist male were prevalent in the distinct culture of the South (Conlee 4). It is evident Tom adores his daughters, but the translation of his love comes in subtle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Impact Of Arch On Roman Architecture The development of concrete and the arch was integral to the advancement of Roman architecture. Both had a great impact on the people of Rome from all walks of life. When designing a building, the load that must be supported is a very important consideration. Various building materials will each have their own levels of strength and ability to support loads. In addition to this, the way in which the building material is utilized may also play a role in the ability of the building to support large loads. The implementation of concrete as a building material led to much stronger walls and supports in Roman buildings. Additionally, the development of the arch was revolutionary in its ability to support loads. The types and sizes of structures that the Romans could build became unlike anything seen before, and they also became very interested in working with interior spaces, as well (Ambler, n.d.). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The arch continues to feature prominently in...designs and with good reason: Its semicircular structure elegantly distributes compression through its entire form and diverts weight onto its two abutments (Lamb, 2000). The key to the structure is located in the center of the arch and is called a keystone. Remove it and the entire structure collapses. The entire structure is dependent upon the architect not designing an opening that is too wide. That would also lead to increased pressure and decreased structural integrity (Lamb, 2000). As you can imagine, the arch opened the door to a great many changes in structural design. The Romans utilized it in their homes and in their public buildings. It found its way into bridge design, as well. Yet, the arch alone does not explain the amazing advancements made in Roman architecture. Concrete also play a huge part in shaping Roman construction. As such, it is also important to understand exactly what concrete ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Entrepreneur, 2014). Most of the large organisations around the world have been started by entrepreneurs. The contribution of entrepreneurs to a country s business environment holds a high value. EY Entrepreneur of The Year Award s Director, Jon Hooper stated that Successful entrepreneurs have an extraordinary passion, self belief and that keeps them going when others might give up. Because of this, they are able to make a significant contribution to New Zealand s economy and to the community by creating jobs, driving productivity, fuelling growth and inspiring others (EY, 2014). Entrepreneurs are contributing in various ways to the business environment and some of them will be by providing employment, growing economy, innovating new technologies, creating market competitiveness and also by providing contributions to the society. Therefore, this essay is a critical evaluation of the contribution of entrepreneurs to the New Zealand business environment. Contribution to the New Zealand Employment According to the New Zealand treasury, nearly one out of 7 adults is an entrepreneur in New Zealand. Entrepreneurship always creates job opportunities for the educated qualified people as well as for the people who don t have much education qualifications. In the article How to Scope Out an Office That Fits Your Values, the environment that you work is very important. The accuracy of what they are saying surprise me. Ultrasonography is an affordable, noninvasive tool whose results can be obtained more quickly than for C T scans [Incesu et al., 1997]. Many studies proved that, ultrasound has a high sensitivity ranged from 55% to 98% and specificity ranged from 50% to 100%, PPV ranged from 80.48% to 97.4, NPV ranged from 19.51% to 89.19% and accuracy ranged from 70.91% to 81%.. These results emphasize that appositive ultrasonographic findings for appendicitis is strongly in favor of a diagnosis of acute appendicitis. However a negative ultrasound findings is not sufficient to rule out the diagnosis and discharge the patient [Singh et al., 2014; Incesu et al., 1997; Flum et al., 2002; Nasiri et al., 2012]. But in our study, ultrasound sensitivity= 60%, specificity= 0%, PPV= 70.59%, NPV= 0% and accuracy= 30%, comparing our results with the previous results reveals that the ultrasound provides less reliable findings for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis in our study. These variations in reported data may be due to that, the ultrasound is an operator dependent technique and the results vary depending on how is performing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shortly after Lawrence had arrived there, he was introduced to art when his mother had enrolled him in Utopia Children s Center, which then had an after school art program. At the age of 16 he dropped out of school and took classes at the Harlem Art Workshop where it was taught by Charles Ashton and he very often visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 1937, he won a scholarship to the American Artist School in New York. When he graduated in 1939 he had received funding from the Works Progress Administration Federal Art Project. • 13. Impact Of The Industrial Revolution On The World Essay Since the first time an image was transported to a laptop screen or a handheld device was used to communicate to people in other countries, the world has been a system of calls, emails, texts, and networks that are all categorized under the term technology. We started off with technology that helped us forage for food or manage our livestock. However, tech today is a basis of telecommunications and the use of different mechanical mechanisms that are seemingly robotic. How far we have come from the beginning of the first civilizations to what we are able to do now illustrates the impact of the industrial revolution and, some may say, tech revolution. We are still booming and at every corner that is turned new advancements are introduced into society that was not thought about before. It seems that we should be all tech savvy and a life without technology would be a little unnerving to say the least. Others say that this dependence makes robots or us less human. Throughout the research conducted on technology, there were news articles assumingly concluding that we are humans merging with technology and turning into robots and another similarly arguing that we need to become cyborgs or risk humans being turned into robots. These may not be scholarly articles but are interesting to see and notice the perspective that people believe to be true. The extremely absurd notion that we are so heavily dependent on technology that we will turn into robots may actually be true. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Underground Dancer is a figure of the modern world that cannot be dismissed. It is hard to pinpoint what he is, and what he looks like, all I can provide is shots in the dark, a desperate attempt to shed light to this misunderstood personae. Like an ill man he may swear inside him, and like Dostoevsky s Underground Man he will let out a high pitched cry that speaks: Enough! This world is not enough! He is still motionless for although he wants to dance, his mind is not at ease what is the use of dancing anyway, when all the troubles of the world burden his shoulders (Kaufmann 71, 72)? He remains inert, perhaps slightly trembling, a tingling anticipation of an unknown surge tickling his soul. His inaction drives him insane because if he refuses to dance without a reason, he will remain inert but if, on the other hand, dances without a reason, his lack of determination will manifest itself as self consciousness and fall pray to the eyes of his audience. But who ever heard of rationality as prerequisite for action? The whole of History is littered with examples of irrational choices, where man acts without consideration for reason or advantage. The Underground Dancer realizes this, and does not wish for himself a good, virtuous or advantageous choice but simply to satisfy his own caprice, in a sense, feed his own desire for the single most advantageous advantage : independent choice (72). One example of growth and maturity in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was Huck s gradual realization that Jim was a human being and his growing sympathy towards him. Huck states, I do believe he cared just as much for his people as white folks do for their n (Twain 155). Huck deals with constant inner conflict during his many adventures.
