My Love Essay
I was loved even before I was born, that is what my parents always told me. To be loved and fully
accepted without reservation is their greatest gift to me. Raised by Christian parents who
modeled Christ s love, my early life was uneventful and peaceful. I followed the rules and never
got in any serious trouble. So for the first ten years of my life, my faith was not tested and had no
chance of maturing. My life of ease did not incite me to seek Godor his purpose for me. God was in
the background for me then.
Then came some hard times. My easy life was shaken when my mom was diagnosed with breast
cancer. This was her second cancer diagnosis and more serious than the first. Real life stress and
worry came crashing in on me. Was I being punished for some wrong doing? Would my mom
survive? What would happen to me? I was just a kid, but I knew how serious this was. At first, I
did not know where to find help and comfort. Then I remembered seeing my parents turn to
prayer and the Bible especially when they had worries. I came across Ephesian 1:4, Even before
he made the world, God loved us/me and chose us/me in Christ to be holy and without fault in
his eyes. This verse reminded me of what my parents told me when I was very young. God chose
me to have a relationship with Him through his Son, Christ. He holds me without fault because of
the sacrifice his Son made for me. My mom s illness was not a punishment because I have already
been forgiven for my sins. I found peace and

Notes On Motivation Theory And Motivation
Chapter 2: Literature review
2.1. Motivation theory
Types of motivation
According to Pritchard and Ashwood (2008: 6), motivation is the process used to allocate
energy to maximize the satisfaction of needs. It requires that one have a reason to do something.
Well know researchers in this area Ryan and Deci (2010) believe that a person, who feels no
drive or inspiration to act, can therefore be characterized as unmotivated, while someone who is
energized toward a goal can be defined as motivated. People may also experience differing levels
and types of motivation based on their individual backgrounds, which means that they vary not only
in their amount of motivation, but also in the trend of that motivation (Ryan and Deci, 2000).
Different things motivate people who come from different social, cultural, economic and/or
financial backgrounds, or who have received different education. An employee s motives, socio
economic background and value system will have an effect on how they work, as well as influence
the outcome of their performance (Wyk and Erasmus, 2003: 315).
Many researchers have worked in the field of motivation over the years, and developed different
theories. Maslow s Hierarchy of needs theory proposes that an individual s most basic needs must
be met before they will develop higher level desires (Goble, 1970). Maslow created the term
metamotivation to explain the motivations of those people, which go beyond the extent of their
basic needs and instead

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Copper Cookware
For any cook, professional or otherwise, the type and quality of cookware being used are as
essential as the ingredients of the food itself. Although every home and restaurant operate uniquely,
each shares common needs as far as cookware is concerned. As a result, the market is full of
cooking equipment so that cooks and chefs have different options to choose from.
However, regardless of the shape or size cookware, you always need to consider the metal that the
cookware is made of. This makes your ultimate choice of cooking equipment a question of the
metal it is made of. There are many materials to choose from including stainless steel, aluminum or
even copper.
The focus of this article is copper cookware and information that can be learned through copper
cookware reviews. Copper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Copper is necessary and beneficial in the human body, but only in very small quantities. In larger
amounts, it becomes toxic or potentially lethal.
Difficult to Clean and Maintain
Copper has always been a demanding material to keep in top shape. It stains and scratches quite
easily and needs regular polishing. In old England, sand was imported from French beaches
specifically for cleaning copper pots and kettles without damaging them.
In the modern kitchen, copper cannot be cleaned in dishwashers and has to be done by hand.
Some cheap and easy methods of cleaning have been known to work well to rid copper of stains
such as scrubbing lightly with lemon juice or with vinegar. However, these tasks still become
cumbersome for most people who would simply prefer cookware that can be cleaned satisfactorily
with soap and warm water.
Tarnishing and Fading
Even when not in use, copper items tarnish and lose their lustrous sheen making it necessary to
polish regularly them to maintain their visual appeal.

The Fifa World Cup Event
The FIFA World Cup, as one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world that comes around
every four years, is often assumed by potential host countries as highly profitable. Current research,
however, suggests that the economic growth experienced by these host nations due to the World
Cup event is lower than the expectations they had. Specifically, a number of economists assert that
no observable short termeconomic growth exists within the tourism, retailing, accommodation, and
employment sectors of each one of the host countries (Allmers Maennig, 2009). As for the long
term impacts, some scholars insist that the World Cup cannot boost the four sectors listed above
(Baumann, Robert, Bryan Engelhardt, and Victor A. Matheson 2012), while others argue that other
beneficial factors, that do not affect the host countries in the short term, generate economic profits
for host countries in the long term (Maennig, 2009). Some scholars even critique this claim,
however, arguing that the new factors won t bring profits to host countries.
In my opinion, the World Cup seems to give the allusion that it will benefit the economy right away
in the short run, but this not necessarily true. On the other hand it is beneficial to the host countries
and the international economy in the long run, assuming that different factors are considered in the
long term analysis. These factors include the novelty effect of new stadiums, the feel good effect
on citizens, and the World Cup s effect

Examples Of Power Corrupts
Many would say that power corrupts. The phrase penned by John Dalberg, Power corrupts, and
absolute power corrupts absolutely, has become a clichГ© idiom thrown about when discussing
power. Does it really though? Does power really corrupt every man it touches? Power is merely
a tool, neither inherently good nor bad. Power, similar to magic , is subject to the one who
wields it. If something wicked wields power, the power will lead to wicked things. However,
power in the hands of good will lead to good things it is a reflection of the heart. In J.R.R. Tolkien
s book The Fellowship of the Ring his characters exhibit different reactions to power. Some crave
it, others lust for it, and one in particular shuns it. Power is a tool;... Show more content on

In the opening of the first book The Fellowship of the Ring Tolkien puts a poem which begins,
Three Rings for the Elven kings under the sky, Seven for Dwarf lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne... (Tolkien 49).
The men were doomed to die. Similarly, in our world men are doomed to die without the
salvation of Jesus, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and they are justified
freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:23 24) This is
why men in Tolkien s books have such a hard time handling power. For example the nine mortal
men give in to the temptation to abuse their power and consequently they turn into wraiths, undying
slaves of Sauron. Man s heart is corrupt in Middle Earth same as it is corrupt in our world, and
this is why it appears that power always corrupts when it is really just the corruption of man
brought to light by the influence of power. The great sin here is lust. The lust for power, or money,
or women, or gold (Thorin Oakenshield) is the great downfall of man. Each thing individually is
not evil, but it is the lust that is, and it is the lust that

Lord Of The Flies Themes
GoldingВґs book The Lord of the Flies has many different background meanings to it. Two themes
that some critics think of are that people are born with evil already in them and that there is no
hope for humanity. These themes are shown throughout the book in what the characters say and
do. In this book there are many conflicts where the boys bully each other in an inhumane way,
which shows how evil they really are. Also the boys lose hope for being rescued and start to go
back to the more primitive ways of mankind. Golding definitely comes across in his work as
some who may think that there is no hope for mankind and that all people are born with evil in
them. One of the first examples of there being a theme for no hope for humanity is what Piggy
first says to Ralph. Ralph and Piggy are arguing (pg. 14) and Piggy says They re all
dead...Nobody don t know we re here. Your dad don t know, nobody don t know. When he says
this, Piggy shows the reader that he thinks there is no hope for them to be rescued from the
island. To some people, Golding may be hinting that there is no hope for people to be rescued
from times of war. War seems to be ongoing, when one war ends another war begins. Until people
end wars there is no hope for peace in the world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ralph learns that Jack plans on having everyone hunt for him is when he speaks with Samneric
(pg. 188) They hate you Ralph...They re going to hunt you tomorrow. Critics might think that this
shows there is no hope for humanity to keep moving forward. When the boys decide to hunt Ralph
it shows a more primitive side of humans, in the way that instead of working something out, they
decide to eliminate the problem all together. Golding makes it seem as if he thinks that humans will
start to go back to their original state and that there is no hope that people will

The Importance Of Augustus, The First Emperor Of The Roman...
Throughout the Roman Empire, many new perceptions and strong leaders began to rise to overall
power. These new perceptions and leaders helped build the structure of the history of the world. One
of these resilient leaders was Augustus, who was considered to be the first emperor of the historical
Roman Empire. During his reign as the first emperor, Augustus established many new and fulfilling
virtues. Some of these virtues included the idea of taxation being more reasonable for citizens. He
also implemented the creation of roads and the ultimate revamping of the Roman city. In order to
document his lifetime and role as a Roman leader, Augustus decided to scribe many of his
experienced achievements, successes, and victories. More importantly, he used this subjective
inscription to successfully display his leadership and consultant persona during his reign.
Throughout the inscription of the Res Gestae, Augustus expresses and legitimates his diplomatic
authority by describing his many political successes, social achievements, and military victories to
seek the approval of citizens throughout his reign during the Roman Empire.
During his admired reign, Augustus claimed to have proficiency in many political successes that
ultimately expresses and legitimates his authority. Along with exiling the murderers of his father,
he describes how he undertook many civil and foreign wars by land and sea throughout the world
(RG, 1). This claim addresses how Augustus made many

Second Language Acquisition ( Sla )
Second language acquisition (SLA) has long been a topic of interest for many researchers such as
linguists, psychologists, and educators. Through the study of SLA, researchers may better
understand the basic properties of languages, how languages are processed in the brain, and how to
facilitate the acquisition of a second language. A common topic of inquiry among SLA researchers
is why some people seem to learn new languages with ease while others do not. This question is
especially important to foreign language educators who want all of their students to succeed at
becoming proficient in a second language. In order to provide the proper support their students
need, educators must be aware of the many factors that influence SLA. In order to investigate why
some language learners appear to be more successful than others, researchers examine the
differences between individual learners. The current consensus among experts is that individual
learners learn differently depending on variables like learning opportunities, the motivation to learn,
individual differences and learning styles in second language acquisition(Bista, 2008, p. 2).
Therefore an individual s success is dependent on the combination of many factors. Educators may
attempt to determine an individual s chances at learning a language by measuring their language
aptitude. While researchers thus far failed to create a universal definition for language aptitude,
they have identified some aspects of

The Role Of Anger In The Kitchen Desk Drama
It was in the middle of the 1950s when John Osborne brought the movement of the called Angry
Young Men to the stage personified by Jimmy Porter, the main character of Look Back in Anger.
This Kitchen Sink Drama shows a picture of working people s life as well as the provocative,
rebellious, dissatisfied and angry attitude of the main character. Osborne portraits Jimmy as a
working class young man full of anger and humanemotionwho bears neither slothfulness nor social
inequality. Anger is the dominant emotion in the play, but how and why is it expressed by Jimmy?

phoney past he did not managed to forget, especially after the two World Wars and the beginning
of the dreary American Age (Act I, p. 17). At the same time, though, I suggest that Jimmy is also
attracted by the old colonialist ages and its determined and worthy causes: Jimmy I suppose
people of our generation aren t able to die for good causes any longer...There aren t any good,
brave causes left (Act III, p. 84). He feels that English people have left their convictions and
although he is not supposed to be patriotic (Act I, p. 17), he seeks a revolutionary fire (Act I,
p.35) that would bring these worthy causes back to people s lives. Unlike Daddy, who looks to
the past with nostalgia and regret, Jimmy looks back in anger to a gone period where people
were able to live a real and enthusiastic life, which is what he thinks it lacks in the American era:
You re hurt because everything is changed. Jimmy is hurt because everything is the same. And

Application Paper
Application Paper The social penetration theory is a theory composed by Altman and Taylor in
which people are compared to onions. This may seem like an absurd comparison, but when
explored more deeply it makes quite a bit of sense. The social penetration theory is a description
of the multi layered nature of people s personalities. As the outer skin of an onion is peeled away
another layer is found beneath it, and if you remove that layer you will expose another layer,
and so forth. The same holds true for people; as we get to know someone better we expose more
layers of their personality and hence become closer to the core of the individual, or the private self

How do we know when to disclose ourselves and when not to? According to Jourard a person is
more likely to self disclose when he believes that his audience is of good will, or someone with
an attitude of love and trust. Now we must ask a question as to how much one should disclose to
people? The breadth and depth of self disclosure is determined by the degree of intimacy a person
wants to achieve, with another. This theory claims that peripheral (public) items are exchanged
more frequently and sooner than private information. This usually happens in the beginning of a
relationship when it is still on a more impersonal and superficial level. According to one study,
only about 2 percent of people disclosed intimate details about themselves during this level of the
relationship, the majority of talk between two individuals on this level was about public items, or
worldly experiences they both knew about. Self disclosure is reciprocal during the beginning stages
of developing a relationship. New acquaintances generally achieve equal levels of openness,
perhaps due to the vulnerability of both people knowing nothing about the other. Instant intimacy
usually does not happen with people, it is something that both parties must strive for in order to
attain. At the beginning of a relationship penetration is usually fast, but as the layers of personality
are revealed, it slows

Analysis Of Gae Polisner s The Summer Of Letting Go
Loss is hard. Whether a family member or a friend, death finds a way to reach us all. No matter
how we decide to cope with it, weak or strong, death can consume us, and if we re not careful, it
is able to change us to the point where you not only lose someone you loved or knew but to the
point where you begin to lose yourself entirely. In the novel, The Summer of Letting Go, written by
Gae Polisner, we follow the main protagonist Francesca Schnell on her journey to overcome the
grief and the guilt of the loss of her younger brother. During the summer of her sixteenth birthday,
Francesca Schnell should be going to the beach, hanging out with her best friend, and making out

Simon s death has such an impact on her where it gets to the point where she loses the will to
live. She says, In the months after I let Simon die, I spent countless hours trying to figure out
how to stop my breath and disappear. I m not sure I wanted to kill myself exactly. All I knew was
that I wanted to be gone. To be invisible, to slip away, (Polisner 20). Francesca uses the words let
Simon die because she blames herself for his death, when, in fact, it is not her fault at all. So
especially during the time right after Simon s death, when the pain and the guilt are as its
strongest, and the memory still fresh in everyone s heads, Francesca wanted to escape. She couldn
t bear the absence of her brother and the blameful eyes of her mother. She simply didn t want to
exist anymore, because she could not handle not only being the cause of her brother s death, but
also one who destroys her family. Someone else who was heavily impacted by Simon s death was
Francesca s mother. Although she tried to direct her grief into a positive cause, the Simon A.
Schnell Drowning Foundation, it ended up becoming an unhealthy obsession and outlet in which
she buried both her and her grief in. As Francesca says, You [her mother] spend your whole life in
some dark basement trying to keep people out of the water, (Polisner 249). Her mom ended up
dedicating her life, and her time into a cause that is not only irrational but

Social Learning Theory Case Study
Social learning:
The social learning theory is one the most significant theories that came about in the 1960s by
Albert Bandura as it made it clear as to how individuals acquire and develop new behaviors through
modeling others behaviors. As indicated by (Chavis, 2012), social learning theory is of great of
importance due to its sheer influence on human development, and it s established in many of the
fundamental concepts of traditional learning. The theory focuses on the social context in which
learning takes place, and it suggests that people learn from each other (Chavis, 2012). Therefore,
social learning theory helps us explain why individuals behave in a certain way. Bandura didn t
much agree with what behaviorists suggested about how human ... Show more content on

Operant conditioning argues that animals and humans alike tend to behave in social context based
on the outcomes of their behaviors (Kretchmar, 2015). Negative outcome punishment decreases the
chance of individuals to behave in a certain way, while positive outcome reinforcement increases
the probability for individuals to show a particular behavior (Kretchmar, 2015). Bandura thought
operant conditioning was an insufficient theory for explaining observational learning (Kretchmar,
2015). According to (Kretchmar, 2015), Bandura wasn t in agreement with behaviorists who
considered reinforcement as a necessary component of learning, and he demonstrated that behavior
and learning are different from each other. Bandura suggested that people tend to imitate whatever
they happen to watch even if they are not reinforced for that behavior (Kretchmar, 2015). This
simply happens when they see that other people get reinforced for their exhibited behavior,
subsequently this works as an incentive for them to reproduce this behavior (Kretchmar, 2015).
Being aware of the limitations of behaviorism and operant conditioning, Bandura considered
coming up with a new theory social learning which was first called

Anabolic Steroid Use in Sports Summary
Anabolic Steroid use in Sports The competitive drive to win at all cost is fierce among athletes.
Winning at all cost often includes using one of many performance enhancing drugs such as anabolic
steroids. Many athletes use performance enhancing drugs, like steroids, to achieve higher goals and
set higher records than other drug free successful athletes. Although athletes are performing at
higher levels when using such drugs, what is the cost? Finally anabolic steroids should remain
banned from sports because their use results in many harmful side effects; because their use violates
sports regulations, and because their use can cause death. Anabolic steroids should remain banned
from sports because of the many harmful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another reason is the potential side effect caused by the use of anabolic steroids. Since the use
of steroids has become a trend among athletes, the number of deaths among them has risen. A lot
of these deaths are due to suicides and violent behavior as a result of the effect of these anabolic
androgenic steroids on mood. A number of recent, well publicized deaths of American football
players have drawn attention to the potential dangers of sports supplements and the raised
important public health concerns about the unrestricted availability of these products that are
exempt from U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation (Haller, 2002). Performance
enhancing drugs are not only dangerous and damaging; they are potentially deadly. Between
1985 and 1995, at least 121 US athletes collapsed and died during or directly after a training
session or game; most often because they had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or heart
malformations (Maron, 1996). Most of the athletes that have collapsed and died during or directly
after training session or game tested positive for some type of performance enhancing drug. From
case reports, the incidence of life threatening effects appears to be low, but serious adverse effects
may be under recognized or under reported. Data from animal studies seem to support this
possibility. One study found that exposing male

a. Limitations of Vertical Integration
Vertical integration, a distinctive feature of Zara s business model, has allowed the company to
successfully develop a strong merchandising strategy. This strategy has led Zara to create a climate
of scarcity and opportunity as well as a fast fashion system. However, Zara s strategy creates some
weaknesses. Their vertical integration has more advantages than drawbacks but it is important to
recognize its limitations. Vertical integration often leads to the inability to acquire economies of

The close proximity of the distribution center to the American market will allow Zara to effectively
interpret the particular American fashion.
The increased cost of product variety will increase cost due to possible changeover of production
techniques to create different apparel lines but this cost is warranted since the monetary gain is
much greater than the cost. Central distribution centers, however, will help cut some the cost of
quick, high fashion since it can help streamline some of the processes and techniques used to create
different apparel as they vary from country to country.
Implementations
To expand globally, Zara should focus on one country at a time. Our team concludes that United
States should be Zara s current focus on international expansion. United States is an open trade
market with well formed trade regulations. This provides a safer business environment as compared
to Asia countries. During the globalization process, Zara should maintain short lead time, quick
inventory turnover, leading fashion brand and low advertising cost as its competitive advantage.
Regional distribution center, vertical integration, outsourcing, eye catching window displays are the
key elements for Zara to continue to re invent and innovate themselves to stay fresh in the apparel
industry. Below you may find the implementation details for United States region:

Contribution Of Winston Churchill
INTRODUCTION
Sir Winston Churchill was born in 1874, and is the son of English politician Lord Randolph
Churchill and American socialite Lady Randolph Spencer Churchill. He was a British politician
who served in the British Army, as a member of Parliament, and as the Prime Minister of the
United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and 1951 to 1955. From 1940 to 1955, he was the leader of
the Conservative Party in Britain. In 1953, he received a Knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II and
the Nobel Prize for Literature.
While Winston Churchill is most known for his leadership of Britain during the Second World War
and his prominent role in the defeat of Nazi Germany and the Axis Powers, he is equally
responsible for the brutalization of numerous foreign nations and cultures, the unwarranted deaths
of three million Indians due to a famine that he purposefully worsened, and the oversight of
unprovoked attacks on Greek civilian protesters.
Churchill was known for arming troops who previously had collaborative ties to Nazis, under the
guise of national leverage . When communist friendly forces in Greece became more powerful
than he originally anticipated, Churchill aligned Britain s forces with pro Nazi forces, thereby
switching alliances, and either killing or injuring hundreds of people in a 1944 unarmed protest in
Athens, Greece. Churchill even considered swapping sides and fighting on the side of Nazi
Germany at the end of World War II since he began to hate the Soviets more than

one side of the view, smartphone is very efficiency in our society and well developed technology

How Human Computer Interactions Incorporated Into Computer...
2.Purpose
The purpose of the authors is to introduce the capabilities of context aware design and give an
insight into how it can positively affect and benefit the user s lifestyle. The authors inform the
audience of the three types of context aware computer systems and uses prototype examples to
clearly explain them to an audience who would not be knowledgeable about this field. The article
highlights how human computer interactions incorporated into computer systems are continuously
evolving to provide a more personal, efficient and user friendly experience. This has further
extended onto systems that recognise contexts and situations allowing less user inputs and more
about understanding and analysing the user s preferences.
3.Key Information
3.1 Framework
Context aware design is the concept of computer systems being attentive of the user s setting or
context. It will recognise engagement and interactions from the user and model the situations to
accomplish a set task or purpose. The fundamental framework of context aware designs takes into
consideration a user s personal needs which may be affected by many factors such as habits, self
image, and issues of motivation. Thus, many questions are raised and answered in the planning
process regarding the purpose, intended audience, inputs and outputs required etc. to design such
technologies that are able to understand and interpret what the user s goals are. The prototype
examples exhibit endless possibilities and

Progression of Black Masculinity
Nearly every decade consists of at least one film that helps to define the development of a
generation. The film is able to paint a clear enough picture that not only captures the cultural
aspects of the generation but also portrays the social implications and complexities associated
with the environment the culture thrives in. In regards to the genre of hip hop and rap and its
relationship with black life and urban imagery for example, Cooley High may be representative
for a generation that was in their 20 s during the debut of the movie. The next generation of the
1980 s would most likely be able to understand the interworking s of the movie Krush Groove
whereas the generation of the 1990 s would more than likely link themselves to such films as
New Jack City and Juice. These films depicting the rise of black boys to black men were in rarity
during their debut and because of the popular actors and underlining themes in them have had a
significant long lasting impact on people of color as well as young white Americans that have
been somewhat interested in the everyday struggle of their inner city counterparts. Through a
careful analysis of films such as Krush Groove depicting black life in the 1980 s to the urban
imagery displayed in the 1990 s movies of Juice and New Jack City the progression of the
portrayal of young black males can be observed as well as the difference in viewpoints on black
humanity, and stereotypes. Minorities have overcome significant hurdles in the

It Is Impossible To Create A Dystopian Society
According to the Webster Dictionary the definition of utopia is ...a place of ideal perfection
especially in laws, government, and social conditions... (Merriam Webster) . If utopia is really
perfection what happens when there is trouble in a utopia? Does that utopia suddenly become a
dystopia because it is not as perfect as it may seem? Thomas Mores Utopiaincluded these
characteristics, it also contained some unfavorable characteristics as well. A few of these dystopian
characteristics include slavery, land conquering, and social isolation when sick (More). Although

characteristics were new for the age that he was writing in. Many universal themes included the
ideas of having an abundant amount of food, and shelter, and the lack of fear. The residents of
More s island were able to achieve many of these ideas especially having an abundant amount of
food. This abundance of food offers many different advantages to the residents. This food limits the
amount of fighting over land between residences. Without the fear of food need the scramble for
land disappears. Another advantage of More s island is that the residents are eating out of a
communal pantry, which limits the stress of people. By having a communal pantry the residents do

For this Level 2 daily data of AOD and CF from MODIS (Aqua) are considered along with high
resolution rainfall data from IMD. These data were incorporated in to the AFF model to observe
the microphysical and radiative effects of the aerosol on cloud cover. The spatial and temporal
variations of AOD, CF and RF in addition with other ancillary parameters like AE, AI, CER,
LWP and OLR were studied. Also, the vertical distribution of aerosols and clouds from
CALIPSO data were analysed in the present study. The results can be summarized as follows:
a)During 2012 ISMR, there was high aerosol loading over the region in June and due to late
arrival of monsoons the region witnessed low rainfall intensity. This can be inferred from the
low values of seasonally averaged CER and LWP, and also from the monthly AOF and COF
plots. This explains the microphysical effect dominating over the region. Rest of the months had
normal rainfall events over the region and the same was observed in the rainfall deviation plots.
b)In 2013 ISMR, heavy washout of aerosols during June by early onset of monsoons led to
decrease in the aerosol concentrations which in turn reduced the inhibiting nature of microphysical
effect of aerosols on cloud cover. The seasonal AOD was low over the region. Also the CER was
comparably high compared to other ISMR years which might be associated with the high rainfall
intensity during this

Polysomnography Study
EMG The equipment that is needed to perform polysomnography is divided over certain sections
of the human body that need to be measured at the same time. The electromyography or EMG is
an electro diagnostic technique that records the electrical activity created by various skeletal
muscles. The signals that are going to be analyzed are detections of the activation levels of the
different muscles groups. An example for usage of an electromyography during polysomnography
is the detection of chin movement to ascertain the level of muscle tone, which is correlated with
the fluctuation of REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep and sleep onset. It can also provide us with
information about the patients movement in general. In certain situations when constant
monitoring of the patient is not entirely possible there is also the option to adhere said EMG
sensors to the limbs to detect periodic limb movements of sleep (PLMS). By monitoring the

Essay about Motivation for Work
Work is a positive thing for many people. To some people, it may be described as a place to escape
from the kids, or even a time consumption thing for a single or retired person, but most
importantly it is what we do in order to provide for our families and ourselves. Work is
something that we all will experience at one time or another during our lives. There are several
reasons why a person goes to work. These reasons can be better explained as work motivation. Work
motivation can be defined as the inner forces that make us work and want to work harder to
achieve personal or organizational goals (George Jones, 2005). There are two different types of
motivation; intrinsic and extrinsic. When personal goals motivate us,... Show more content on

On the other hand, things like total accomplishment motivate Aberdeen s employees; they thrive on
bettering the work environment, learning new skills and getting to participate in group leadership.
You could say that the main difference between the Aberdeen and Green River plants have mostly
to do with which type of motivational reasoning each have. Aberdeen employees are motivated for
intrinsic reasons. They continue to work hard for the satisfaction of the entire company doing well,
as Green River employees do things for extrinsic reasons. They are only concerned with doing only
what it takes to make more money.
There are several different ways an employer can motivate their employee s: job design goals,
performance appraisal, pay, and career development. Job design is the process of envisioning
and defining specific work systems for a particular job, and deciding what techniques, procedures,
and equipment that it will take to do the job (George Jones, 2005). Job design plays an important
role in enhancing motivational levels in the workplace. It seems that if you can break jobs down
individually and make them simpler to understand do, then people are more apt to do them
effectively. With this in mind, I would like to recommend that Green River s management break
their jobs down into steps to help simplify and make for better production. Developing goals and

Factors Determining The Form Of Legal Business Entity
Factors Considered In Deciding the Form of Legal Business Entity
When starting a new business, it is very important to decide the form of legal entity which may be
appropriate based on a number of factors. The legal entity can be sole proprietorship, partnerships
(general and limited liability partnerships), limited liability companies, or corporations. One of the
most important factors to consider when deciding the appropriate form of legal business entity is
complexity. If one has limited capital and wishes to start a simple business unit, then sole
proprietorship is the most appropriate. The second factor is the need for protection from the risk
of liabilities. If the new business operates in a volatile industry where it is possible to experience
huge financial losses, then a limited liability company or partnership can be considered
appropriate. The ease of formation is another factor. It is easy to form a sole proprietorship as
opposed to other forms of businesses. The issue of taxation may also influence the form of
business entity that a person or group of people may choose. The aim is always to minimize tax
as much as possible. According to Chiappinelli (2006), another important factor that should
always be considered is the ease with which capital can be raised. It is easier to raise capital in
limited liability companies or in corporations than it is in sole proprietorship.

Institutional Critique Essay
When someone enters an art gallery, they believe they are going to view art, but under the guise of
Institutional Critique, this notion often false. Instead of being the traditional art of painting,
sculptures, and installations, viewers encounter, in the work of Hans Haacke, Daniel Buren, and
Michael Asher in the 1970s, not much to look at, but a lot to think about. In essence, Institutional
Critiqueis a protest against museums/galleries demanding them to view art and art exhibition in
new ways, exemplified by Conceptual artwhere words, video, readymades, and even ideas are art.

In 1971, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum was to present a solo show of Haacke s work,
which was to include the controversial piece, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum Board of

Haacke s refusal to omit the work from the show, but mostly because of the piece s subject
matter. This piece consists of two framed panels with lists of the museum s board of trustees,
which would be acceptable to showcase because this knowledge would be readily available, but
Haacke added five more panels listing the corporate sponsors of the museum along with each
member s other affiliations with corporations. This work exposed the inner mechanisms of the
institution by revealing the trustees questionable affiliations and the financial backers of the
museum. In addition, this piece exemplifies Institutional Critique precisely because of its focus on
the museum itself over the artwork. After all, this piece cannot be sold at auction, which is an
essential aspect of galleries and museums. The piece is, to an extent, also site specific in that the
trust essence of the piece could only be felt if it was exhibited in the institution it was criticizing,
although Haacke never exhibited it at the Guggenheim. In fact, the piece was not shown until

Comparing Odysseus And God In Homer s The Odyssey
In Homer s The Odyssey, Odysseus tests his servants, family, and the suitors, and in the Book of
Genesis God tests Abraham. Odysseus returns home alone and unrecognized to find his home in
disarray, unsure of who and who cannot be trusted. In the Book of Genesis, Abraham is tested to
assure he is loyal to, and trusts, the Lord. Odysseustests the loyalty of his servants and family
members, as well as the suitors, likewise, Abraham s faith is assessed by God as he commands
Abraham to sacrifice his son. The similarities between Odysseus and God, and their assessment of
others, draw further on the concept of crossing the boundary between humans and the divine; both
Odysseus and God use testing as a form of bringing justice to a world that lives without a justice

Phillips Curve Methodology Is Used On An Information Set...
Abstract
In a creating nation like Pakistan, Phillips Curve methodology is utilized on an information set of
35 years. Phillips Curve helps in analyzing the relationship in the middle of inflation and
unemployment. There is a non relative negative relationship in the middle of inflation and
unemployment (if unemployment is decreased than there is a rising value level in the economy).
There is a long run and easygoing relationship in the middle of inflation and unemployment over the
above mentioned period in Pakistan. There is a momentary relationship (stuns) in the short run,
while there is a lasting relationship (stuns) over the long run. By taking a look at the relationship
built, one can estimate for next 10 years, that there will be a reverse relationship between both
variables. This paper records an inflation insignificantly influences GDP and unemployment and the
correlation is negative, exact confirmation for the presence of the Phillips Curve in Pakistan i.e.,
inflation has reduced unemployment.

analgesic and antipyretic properties (Brodie 23). It was first synthesized by the reduction of p
nitrophenol with tin in glacial acetic acid; however was not used classified as a medication until ten
year later (Bertolini 264). Initially, phenacetin, a closely related compound that exhibited similar
physiological effects, became the popular over the counter drug for headaches (Bertolini 251).

This is an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction where a hydrogen on the aromatic ring is
replaced with a nitro group. The hydroxyl group on the aromatic ring is an electron donating group
and therefore serves as an ortho para director. Through the nitration reaction, two products are
formed: o nitrophenol and p nitrophenol. In comparing the stability of the two resulting products, o
nitrophenol is less stable due to steric hinderance and proximity of the hydroxyl and nitro group to
one another. On the other hand, p nitrophenol does not experience the same steric hinderance since
the two group as on opposite sides of the aromatic ring and therefore do not interfere with one
another. As a result, p nitrophenol is the major product of reaction. It is also the product of interest
and will be involved in the next step of the synthesis.
Subsequently, p nitrophenol is reduced by sodium borohydride to give 4 aminophenol. In an
industrial synthesis, hydrogenation is used for reduction instead of sodium borohydride to produce
an identical product(Travis 764). The use of hydrogenation is more efficient when produce larger

carbonyls on the acid anhydride. The electrons move up to the oxygen, forming a negative anion,

448 Responding to the Wii? Market Birth, Collapse, and Rebirthb The videogame industry got
off to an uncertain start in 1972, when television maker Magnavox introduced Odyssey, the first
home videogame console. Priced at $100 (the equivalent of $516 in 2008 dollars),c Odyssey
needed a television screen to project its very limited action. The system came with 12 games,
including versions of tennis and ping pong, each on a printed circuit board.5 However, partly
due to some uninspired marketing and distribution decisions, Odyssey s appeal proved limited.
Magnavox sold more than 100,000 game systems by year end, but sales quickly declined and
Odyssey was pulled from the market.6 Enter Atari Around the same time, a young entrepreneur
named Nolan Bushnell was developing arcade games with the use of then new microprocessor
technology.7 In 1972, the company he started, Atari, launched its first hit game an arcade version
of ping pong.8 In Pong, two players batted a ball of light back and forth between on screen
paddles. The game instructions were simple: Avoid missing ball for high score. 9 Pong was an
immediate success: 8,500 arcade consoles were sold in the first year.10 Bushnell

Retention Strategies in Post Consolidation Banking...
CHAPTER ONE
Introduction
The Nigerian banking industry is one of the most dynamic and competitive industries in the
Country. The banking industry has transformed rapidly in the last ten years, shifting from
transactional and customer service oriented to an increasingly aggressive environment in which
competition for revenue is top priority.
The Nigerian Bank can now fit into the global definition of bank. Consolidation of the Nigerian
Banking sector is one of many reforms of the Gen. Obasanjo s administration that Nigerians have to
embrace happily. (Victor E, 2007)
Prior to the reforms, the industry was highly fragmented, with many banks having very small and
undiversified capitalisation. With a much higher capitalisation base, ... Show more content on

The regression in the nation s economy has taken its toll on both the private and public sectors.
Employee retention has therefore become one of the biggest problems in these sectors. As such,
many companies or organisation have had to downsize or reduce their staff strength by laying off
some. (Toluwani O, 2008)
The Consolidation in the banking industry has also given rise to competiton among banks for
skilled labour .Competition for talent is on the increase, and many companies are going to great
lengths to retain their best employees. This has further put pressure on these institutions to retain
their staff

Politics And Power Motifs In Julius Caesar
Abraham Lincoln once stated Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man s
character, give him power. In Lincoln s statement a key term is power, which means the ability or
right to control people or things. Another important term in Lincoln s statement is adversity, which
means a difficult situation or condition. Taken as a whole, Lincoln means that all men can handle
a difficult period by themselves easily, but when someone has power and battles a situation it
makes a person corrupt and harder to handle situations. This is because when you have power it is
easier to do the wrong thing. Furthermore, Lincoln implies in his statement that power defines a
person and power can change a person, most of the time for the bad. Finally, when looked under
the lens of William Shakespeare s tragedy Julius Caesar, Abraham Lincolns statement can be
proven true through Shakespeare s development of the politics and power motif.... Show more

For example, Cassius is talking to Brutus at the Senate house before the funeral oration. Cassius
is telling Brutus that he does not think it is a good idea for Mark Antony to speak at the funeral
oration (III.I.237 260). This clearly demonstrates Brutus judgement is naive and impulsive
because he does not see the bigger picture and he believes he is more rounded than Cassius.
Brutus should not be the one to make that call since he does not know politics he knows law. This
affects the work as a whole because when Brutus let Antony speak he turned all the people against
the conspirators and made the conspirators run away in fear for their life. This example clearly
shows that the Lens is true because it starts to show the beginning of Brutus downfall with power
and his

Congressional Committees and Healthcare Policy Essay
Congressional Committees and Healthcare Policy (Chapter Review) An important point made in
Weissert and Weissert concerning Congress and its committee structure is that the majority of the
work in Congress is done through committees. They perform the majority of research on issues
and possible solutions, get legislation written, re written and amended, and support it as it moves
through Congress and finally gets passed. They are the workhorses of the legislature (Weissert and
Weissert, 29). The breadth of information on any given issue that has to be assimilated, analyzed
and formed into a bill that can be passed by the two chambers of Congress is complex, and
lawmakers cannot realistically apply significant time and attention to... Show more content on

Cabinet officers often spend a lot of time testifying before committees (Weissert and Weissert,
30). Committees are responsible for oversight of federal agencies, and while this is described as
complicated...tedious, (Weissert and Weissert, 61) and seems to be a mostly a passive process, an
example was cited where at least one committee member was more active. Representative John
Dingell was essentially accused of bullying federal agencies (Weissert and Weissert, 61) when he
was chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, due to his apparent micro management
style. House committee investigations of presidential behavior, while becoming less common, are
other areas where committees have influence outside of Congress (Weissert and Weissert, 61).
Another example given is investigation by the House Judiciary Committee of the sentences
handed down by federal judges thought to be too soft (Weissert and Weissert, 78). A third point
made by Weissert and Weissert is that the power, effectiveness and popularity of Congressional
committees can be influenced and weakened. When party leadership is stronger, the power of
committees is lessened. Party leaders can find ways to get their pet

Sun Also Rises Relationships
In Ernest Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises, various characters suffer from physical and
psychological brokenness as a result of the traumatic events of the Great War. Though
Hemingway s character Lady Brett Ashley did not serve a soldier but as a worker in a military
hospital, she is a veteran of the war nonetheless. Despite Brett s seemingly carefree and
unapologetic lifestyle and personality, she is internally fragmented like the other characters in the
novel. This fragmentation surely comes from her experiences in the military hospital where she
watched soldiers die or become broken beyond repair, physically and psychologically. Though
Brett does not bear physical scars, watching people die when she could only do so much to help
left her psychological... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the end of the novel, when Brett laments that her relationship with Jake could have been great,
Jake only says back that, Isn t it pretty to think so? (Hemingway 250). This indicates that Jake is
now disillusioned with Brett and while she thinks fondly of what could have been, he knows better
as does the reader. Brett will never commit to one man because the only true source of stability that
Brett has in her life is the instability of her romantic relationships. Like many of the other characters
in the novel, Brett is a war veteran and was thrust into a horrific environment filled with a chaos that
she had very little control over. The instability that her dramatic romantic and sexual relationships
offera Brett is not a chaotic or uncontrollable instability. Instead, it is an instability that only she can
control through her sexual agency. By maintaining a control over her instable and complicated
personal life, Brett turns this disorder into a controllable

Marina Lambrini Diamandis Research Paper
Marina Lambrini Diamandis was born on the tenth of October in 1985 in Brynmawr, Wales,
though she grew up in a small town named Pandy. She only had one sibling; an older sister.
Most of her inspiration came from her childhood music teacher who told her she could she could
do anything. Diamandis went to the University of East London to study music for a year, and
then transferred to Middlesex University for a classic composition course, where she dropped
out two months in. While Marina was a teen, she spent a lot of time going to auditions, which all
turned out to be unsuccessful. She had chances to perform in The Lion King, and be in a boy
band, but she ended up falling ill so she ultimately could not audition for either. Her stage name,
Marina and the Diamonds was created in 2005. Diamandis did not have any band members, so
she came to the conclusion that Diamonds stood for her fans. Marina released her first song
Mermaid vs. Sailor , which she self produced. Obsessions was the second song she released, on the
fourteenth of February, 2009. That December, she was ranked second on the Sound of 2010, just
behind Ellie Goulding.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She released the singles from the album. Primandonna , which was released on the twentieth of
March 2012. The song reached number eleven on the UK Singles Chart, and was noted as her
most successful song. The full album was released on the twenty seventh of April. In this album,
Diamandis portrays a character, in songs such as: Teen Idle, Primadonna, Homewrecker, and
Housewife. The character, whose name is, coincidentally, Electra Heart. She portrays the concept
of female integrity and a recent breakup . Electra Heart sold over 7,500 copies, and went on to be
one of her most successful albums. In the next years, Marina went on to release a third studio
album, Froot, and it has been recently announced that she is working on a fourth

  • 2. My Love Essay I was loved even before I was born, that is what my parents always told me. To be loved and fully accepted without reservation is their greatest gift to me. Raised by Christian parents who modeled Christ s love, my early life was uneventful and peaceful. I followed the rules and never got in any serious trouble. So for the first ten years of my life, my faith was not tested and had no chance of maturing. My life of ease did not incite me to seek Godor his purpose for me. God was in the background for me then. Then came some hard times. My easy life was shaken when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was her second cancer diagnosis and more serious than the first. Real life stress and worry came crashing in on me. Was I being punished for some wrong doing? Would my mom survive? What would happen to me? I was just a kid, but I knew how serious this was. At first, I did not know where to find help and comfort. Then I remembered seeing my parents turn to prayer and the Bible especially when they had worries. I came across Ephesian 1:4, Even before he made the world, God loved us/me and chose us/me in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. This verse reminded me of what my parents told me when I was very young. God chose me to have a relationship with Him through his Son, Christ. He holds me without fault because of the sacrifice his Son made for me. My mom s illness was not a punishment because I have already been forgiven for my sins. I found peace and ... • 3. Notes On Motivation Theory And Motivation Chapter 2: Literature review 2.1. Motivation theory Types of motivation According to Pritchard and Ashwood (2008: 6), motivation is the process used to allocate energy to maximize the satisfaction of needs. It requires that one have a reason to do something. Well know researchers in this area Ryan and Deci (2010) believe that a person, who feels no drive or inspiration to act, can therefore be characterized as unmotivated, while someone who is energized toward a goal can be defined as motivated. People may also experience differing levels and types of motivation based on their individual backgrounds, which means that they vary not only in their amount of motivation, but also in the trend of that motivation (Ryan and Deci, 2000). Different things motivate people who come from different social, cultural, economic and/or financial backgrounds, or who have received different education. An employee s motives, socio economic background and value system will have an effect on how they work, as well as influence the outcome of their performance (Wyk and Erasmus, 2003: 315). Many researchers have worked in the field of motivation over the years, and developed different theories. Maslow s Hierarchy of needs theory proposes that an individual s most basic needs must be met before they will develop higher level desires (Goble, 1970). Maslow created the term metamotivation to explain the motivations of those people, which go beyond the extent of their basic needs and instead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Copper Cookware For any cook, professional or otherwise, the type and quality of cookware being used are as essential as the ingredients of the food itself. Although every home and restaurant operate uniquely, each shares common needs as far as cookware is concerned. As a result, the market is full of cooking equipment so that cooks and chefs have different options to choose from. However, regardless of the shape or size cookware, you always need to consider the metal that the cookware is made of. This makes your ultimate choice of cooking equipment a question of the metal it is made of. There are many materials to choose from including stainless steel, aluminum or even copper. The focus of this article is copper cookware and information that can be learned through copper cookware reviews. Copper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Copper is necessary and beneficial in the human body, but only in very small quantities. In larger amounts, it becomes toxic or potentially lethal. Difficult to Clean and Maintain Copper has always been a demanding material to keep in top shape. It stains and scratches quite easily and needs regular polishing. In old England, sand was imported from French beaches specifically for cleaning copper pots and kettles without damaging them. In the modern kitchen, copper cannot be cleaned in dishwashers and has to be done by hand. Some cheap and easy methods of cleaning have been known to work well to rid copper of stains such as scrubbing lightly with lemon juice or with vinegar. However, these tasks still become cumbersome for most people who would simply prefer cookware that can be cleaned satisfactorily with soap and warm water. Tarnishing and Fading Even when not in use, copper items tarnish and lose their lustrous sheen making it necessary to polish regularly them to maintain their visual appeal. ... • 5. The Fifa World Cup Event The FIFA World Cup, as one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world that comes around every four years, is often assumed by potential host countries as highly profitable. Current research, however, suggests that the economic growth experienced by these host nations due to the World Cup event is lower than the expectations they had. Specifically, a number of economists assert that no observable short termeconomic growth exists within the tourism, retailing, accommodation, and employment sectors of each one of the host countries (Allmers Maennig, 2009). As for the long term impacts, some scholars insist that the World Cup cannot boost the four sectors listed above (Baumann, Robert, Bryan Engelhardt, and Victor A. Matheson 2012), while others argue that other beneficial factors, that do not affect the host countries in the short term, generate economic profits for host countries in the long term (Maennig, 2009). Some scholars even critique this claim, however, arguing that the new factors won t bring profits to host countries. In my opinion, the World Cup seems to give the allusion that it will benefit the economy right away in the short run, but this not necessarily true. On the other hand it is beneficial to the host countries and the international economy in the long run, assuming that different factors are considered in the long term analysis. These factors include the novelty effect of new stadiums, the feel good effect on citizens, and the World Cup s effect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Examples Of Power Corrupts Many would say that power corrupts. The phrase penned by John Dalberg, Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, has become a clichГ© idiom thrown about when discussing power. Does it really though? Does power really corrupt every man it touches? Power is merely a tool, neither inherently good nor bad. Power, similar to magic , is subject to the one who wields it. If something wicked wields power, the power will lead to wicked things. However, power in the hands of good will lead to good things it is a reflection of the heart. In J.R.R. Tolkien s book The Fellowship of the Ring his characters exhibit different reactions to power. Some crave it, others lust for it, and one in particular shuns it. Power is a tool;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the opening of the first book The Fellowship of the Ring Tolkien puts a poem which begins, Three Rings for the Elven kings under the sky, Seven for Dwarf lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne... (Tolkien 49). The men were doomed to die. Similarly, in our world men are doomed to die without the salvation of Jesus, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:23 24) This is why men in Tolkien s books have such a hard time handling power. For example the nine mortal men give in to the temptation to abuse their power and consequently they turn into wraiths, undying slaves of Sauron. Man s heart is corrupt in Middle Earth same as it is corrupt in our world, and this is why it appears that power always corrupts when it is really just the corruption of man brought to light by the influence of power. The great sin here is lust. The lust for power, or money, or women, or gold (Thorin Oakenshield) is the great downfall of man. • 7. Lord Of The Flies Themes GoldingВґs book The Lord of the Flies has many different background meanings to it. Two themes that some critics think of are that people are born with evil already in them and that there is no hope for humanity. These themes are shown throughout the book in what the characters say and do. In this book there are many conflicts where the boys bully each other in an inhumane way, which shows how evil they really are. Also the boys lose hope for being rescued and start to go back to the more primitive ways of mankind. Golding definitely comes across in his work as some who may think that there is no hope for mankind and that all people are born with evil in them. One of the first examples of there being a theme for no hope for humanity is what Piggy first says to Ralph. Ralph and Piggy are arguing (pg. 14) and Piggy says They re all dead...Nobody don t know we re here. Your dad don t know, nobody don t know. When he says this, Piggy shows the reader that he thinks there is no hope for them to be rescued from the island. To some people, Golding may be hinting that there is no hope for people to be rescued from times of war. War seems to be ongoing, when one war ends another war begins. Until people end wars there is no hope for peace in the world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ralph learns that Jack plans on having everyone hunt for him is when he speaks with Samneric (pg. 188) They hate you Ralph...They re going to hunt you tomorrow. When the boys decide to hunt Ralph it shows a more primitive side of humans, in the way that instead of working something out, they decide to eliminate the problem all together. Golding makes it seem as if he thinks that humans will start to go back to their original state and that there is no hope that people will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Importance Of Augustus, The First Emperor Of The Roman... Throughout the Roman Empire, many new perceptions and strong leaders began to rise to overall power. These new perceptions and leaders helped build the structure of the history of the world. One of these resilient leaders was Augustus, who was considered to be the first emperor of the historical Roman Empire. During his reign as the first emperor, Augustus established many new and fulfilling virtues. Some of these virtues included the idea of taxation being more reasonable for citizens. He also implemented the creation of roads and the ultimate revamping of the Roman city. In order to document his lifetime and role as a Roman leader, Augustus decided to scribe many of his experienced achievements, successes, and victories. More importantly, he used this subjective inscription to successfully display his leadership and consultant persona during his reign. Throughout the inscription of the Res Gestae, Augustus expresses and legitimates his diplomatic authority by describing his many political successes, social achievements, and military victories to seek the approval of citizens throughout his reign during the Roman Empire. During his admired reign, Augustus claimed to have proficiency in many political successes that ultimately expresses and legitimates his authority. Along with exiling the murderers of his father, he describes how he undertook many civil and foreign wars by land and sea throughout the world (RG, 1). This claim addresses how Augustus made many ... • 9. Second Language Acquisition ( Sla ) Second language acquisition (SLA) has long been a topic of interest for many researchers such as linguists, psychologists, and educators. Through the study of SLA, researchers may better understand the basic properties of languages, how languages are processed in the brain, and how to facilitate the acquisition of a second language. A common topic of inquiry among SLA researchers is why some people seem to learn new languages with ease while others do not. This question is especially important to foreign language educators who want all of their students to succeed at becoming proficient in a second language. In order to provide the proper support their students need, educators must be aware of the many factors that influence SLA. In order to investigate why some language learners appear to be more successful than others, researchers examine the differences between individual learners. The current consensus among experts is that individual learners learn differently depending on variables like learning opportunities, the motivation to learn, individual differences and learning styles in second language acquisition(Bista, 2008, p. 2). Therefore an individual s success is dependent on the combination of many factors. Educators may attempt to determine an individual s chances at learning a language by measuring their language aptitude. While researchers thus far failed to create a universal definition for language aptitude, they have identified some aspects of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He sees the Coronel as a representation of a phoney past he did not managed to forget, especially after the two World Wars and the beginning of the dreary American Age (Act I, p. 17). At the same time, though, I suggest that Jimmy is also attracted by the old colonialist ages and its determined and worthy causes: Jimmy I suppose people of our generation aren t able to die for good causes any longer...There aren t any good, brave causes left (Act III, p. 84). He feels that English people have left their convictions and although he is not supposed to be patriotic (Act I, p. 17), he seeks a revolutionary fire (Act I, p.35) that would bring these worthy causes back to people s lives. Unlike Daddy, who looks to the past with nostalgia and regret, Jimmy looks back in anger to a gone period where people were able to live a real and enthusiastic life, which is what he thinks it lacks in the American era: You re hurt because everything is changed. • 11. Application Paper Application Paper The social penetration theory is a theory composed by Altman and Taylor in which people are compared to onions. This may seem like an absurd comparison, but when explored more deeply it makes quite a bit of sense. The social penetration theory is a description of the multi layered nature of people s personalities. As the outer skin of an onion is peeled away another layer is found beneath it, and if you remove that layer you will expose another layer, and so forth. The same holds true for people; as we get to know someone better we expose more layers of their personality and hence become closer to the core of the individual, or the private self The outer layers of our personality is the public self, or characteristics... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How do we know when to disclose ourselves and when not to? According to Jourard a person is more likely to self disclose when he believes that his audience is of good will, or someone with an attitude of love and trust. Now we must ask a question as to how much one should disclose to people? The breadth and depth of self disclosure is determined by the degree of intimacy a person wants to achieve, with another. This theory claims that peripheral (public) items are exchanged more frequently and sooner than private information. This usually happens in the beginning of a relationship when it is still on a more impersonal and superficial level. According to one study, only about 2 percent of people disclosed intimate details about themselves during this level of the relationship, the majority of talk between two individuals on this level was about public items, or worldly experiences they both knew about. Self disclosure is reciprocal during the beginning stages of developing a relationship. New acquaintances generally achieve equal levels of openness, perhaps due to the vulnerability of both people knowing nothing about the other. Instant intimacy usually does not happen with people, it is something that both parties must strive for in order to attain. No matter how we decide to cope with it, weak or strong, death can consume us, and if we re not careful, it is able to change us to the point where you not only lose someone you loved or knew but to the point where you begin to lose yourself entirely. All I knew was that I wanted to be gone. To be invisible, to slip away, (Polisner 20). Francesca uses the words let Simon die because she blames herself for his death, when, in fact, it is not her fault at all. So especially during the time right after Simon s death, when the pain and the guilt are as its strongest, and the memory still fresh in everyone s heads, Francesca wanted to escape. She couldn t bear the absence of her brother and the blameful eyes of her mother. She simply didn t want to exist anymore, because she could not handle not only being the cause of her brother s death, but also one who destroys her family. Someone else who was heavily impacted by Simon s death was Francesca s mother. Although she tried to direct her grief into a positive cause, the Simon A. • 13. Social Learning Theory Case Study Social learning: The social learning theory is one the most significant theories that came about in the 1960s by Albert Bandura as it made it clear as to how individuals acquire and develop new behaviors through modeling others behaviors. As indicated by (Chavis, 2012), social learning theory is of great of importance due to its sheer influence on human development, and it s established in many of the fundamental concepts of traditional learning. The theory focuses on the social context in which learning takes place, and it suggests that people learn from each other (Chavis, 2012). Therefore, social learning theory helps us explain why individuals behave in a certain way. Bandura didn t much agree with what behaviorists suggested about how human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Operant conditioning argues that animals and humans alike tend to behave in social context based on the outcomes of their behaviors (Kretchmar, 2015). Negative outcome punishment decreases the chance of individuals to behave in a certain way, while positive outcome reinforcement increases the probability for individuals to show a particular behavior (Kretchmar, 2015). Bandura thought operant conditioning was an insufficient theory for explaining observational learning (Kretchmar, 2015). According to (Kretchmar, 2015), Bandura wasn t in agreement with behaviorists who considered reinforcement as a necessary component of learning, and he demonstrated that behavior and learning are different from each other. Bandura suggested that people tend to imitate whatever they happen to watch even if they are not reinforced for that behavior (Kretchmar, 2015). This simply happens when they see that other people get reinforced for their exhibited behavior, subsequently this works as an incentive for them to reproduce this behavior (Kretchmar, 2015). Being aware of the limitations of behaviorism and operant conditioning, Bandura considered coming up with a new theory social learning which was first called ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although athletes are performing at higher levels when using such drugs, what is the cost? Another reason is the potential side effect caused by the use of anabolic steroids. Since the use of steroids has become a trend among athletes, the number of deaths among them has risen. A lot of these deaths are due to suicides and violent behavior as a result of the effect of these anabolic androgenic steroids on mood. A number of recent, well publicized deaths of American football players have drawn attention to the potential dangers of sports supplements and the raised important public health concerns about the unrestricted availability of these products that are exempt from U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation (Haller, 2002). Performance enhancing drugs are not only dangerous and damaging; they are potentially deadly. Between 1985 and 1995, at least 121 US athletes collapsed and died during or directly after a training session or game; most often because they had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or heart malformations (Maron, 1996). Most of the athletes that have collapsed and died during or directly after training session or game tested positive for some type of performance enhancing drug. • 18. Contribution Of Winston Churchill INTRODUCTION Sir Winston Churchill was born in 1874, and is the son of English politician Lord Randolph Churchill and American socialite Lady Randolph Spencer Churchill. He was a British politician who served in the British Army, as a member of Parliament, and as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and 1951 to 1955. From 1940 to 1955, he was the leader of the Conservative Party in Britain. In 1953, he received a Knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II and the Nobel Prize for Literature. While Winston Churchill is most known for his leadership of Britain during the Second World War and his prominent role in the defeat of Nazi Germany and the Axis Powers, he is equally responsible for the brutalization of numerous foreign nations and cultures, the unwarranted deaths of three million Indians due to a famine that he purposefully worsened, and the oversight of unprovoked attacks on Greek civilian protesters. Churchill was known for arming troops who previously had collaborative ties to Nazis, under the guise of national leverage . When communist friendly forces in Greece became more powerful than he originally anticipated, Churchill aligned Britain s forces with pro Nazi forces, thereby switching alliances, and either killing or injuring hundreds of people in a 1944 unarmed protest in Athens, Greece. How Human Computer Interactions Incorporated Into Computer... 2.Purpose The purpose of the authors is to introduce the capabilities of context aware design and give an insight into how it can positively affect and benefit the user s lifestyle. The authors inform the audience of the three types of context aware computer systems and uses prototype examples to clearly explain them to an audience who would not be knowledgeable about this field. The article highlights how human computer interactions incorporated into computer systems are continuously evolving to provide a more personal, efficient and user friendly experience. This has further extended onto systems that recognise contexts and situations allowing less user inputs and more about understanding and analysing the user s preferences. 3.Key Information 3.1 Framework Context aware design is the concept of computer systems being attentive of the user s setting or context. It will recognise engagement and interactions from the user and model the situations to accomplish a set task or purpose. The fundamental framework of context aware designs takes into consideration a user s personal needs which may be affected by many factors such as habits, self image, and issues of motivation. Thus, many questions are raised and answered in the planning process regarding the purpose, intended audience, inputs and outputs required etc. to design such technologies that are able to understand and interpret what the user s goals are. The film is able to paint a clear enough picture that not only captures the cultural aspects of the generation but also portrays the social implications and complexities associated with the environment the culture thrives in. In regards to the genre of hip hop and rap and its relationship with black life and urban imagery for example, Cooley High may be representative for a generation that was in their 20 s during the debut of the movie. The next generation of the 1980 s would most likely be able to understand the interworking s of the movie Krush Groove whereas the generation of the 1990 s would more than likely link themselves to such films as New Jack City and Juice. These films depicting the rise of black boys to black men were in rarity during their debut and because of the popular actors and underlining themes in them have had a significant long lasting impact on people of color as well as young white Americans that have been somewhat interested in the everyday struggle of their inner city counterparts. Through a careful analysis of films such as Krush Groove depicting black life in the 1980 s to the urban imagery displayed in the 1990 s movies of Juice and New Jack City the progression of the portrayal of young black males can be observed as well as the difference in viewpoints on black humanity, and stereotypes. The spatial and temporal variations of AOD, CF and RF in addition with other ancillary parameters like AE, AI, CER, LWP and OLR were studied. Also, the vertical distribution of aerosols and clouds from CALIPSO data were analysed in the present study. The results can be summarized as follows: a)During 2012 ISMR, there was high aerosol loading over the region in June and due to late arrival of monsoons the region witnessed low rainfall intensity. This can be inferred from the low values of seasonally averaged CER and LWP, and also from the monthly AOF and COF plots. This explains the microphysical effect dominating over the region. Rest of the months had normal rainfall events over the region and the same was observed in the rainfall deviation plots. b)In 2013 ISMR, heavy washout of aerosols during June by early onset of monsoons led to decrease in the aerosol concentrations which in turn reduced the inhibiting nature of microphysical effect of aerosols on cloud cover. The seasonal AOD was low over the region. Also the CER was comparably high compared to other ISMR years which might be associated with the high rainfall intensity during this ... The electromyography or EMG is an electro diagnostic technique that records the electrical activity created by various skeletal muscles. The signals that are going to be analyzed are detections of the activation levels of the different muscles groups. An example for usage of an electromyography during polysomnography is the detection of chin movement to ascertain the level of muscle tone, which is correlated with the fluctuation of REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep and sleep onset. It can also provide us with information about the patients movement in general. Work is something that we all will experience at one time or another during our lives. There are several reasons why a person goes to work. These reasons can be better explained as work motivation. Factors Determining The Form Of Legal Business Entity Factors Considered In Deciding the Form of Legal Business Entity When starting a new business, it is very important to decide the form of legal entity which may be appropriate based on a number of factors. The legal entity can be sole proprietorship, partnerships (general and limited liability partnerships), limited liability companies, or corporations. One of the most important factors to consider when deciding the appropriate form of legal business entity is complexity. If one has limited capital and wishes to start a simple business unit, then sole proprietorship is the most appropriate. The second factor is the need for protection from the risk of liabilities. If the new business operates in a volatile industry where it is possible to experience huge financial losses, then a limited liability company or partnership can be considered appropriate. The ease of formation is another factor. It is easy to form a sole proprietorship as opposed to other forms of businesses. The issue of taxation may also influence the form of business entity that a person or group of people may choose. The aim is always to minimize tax as much as possible. According to Chiappinelli (2006), another important factor that should always be considered is the ease with which capital can be raised. The hydroxyl group on the aromatic ring is an electron donating group and therefore serves as an ortho para director. Through the nitration reaction, two products are formed: o nitrophenol and p nitrophenol. In comparing the stability of the two resulting products, o nitrophenol is less stable due to steric hinderance and proximity of the hydroxyl and nitro group to one another. On the other hand, p nitrophenol does not experience the same steric hinderance since the two group as on opposite sides of the aromatic ring and therefore do not interfere with one another. As a result, p nitrophenol is the major product of reaction. It is also the product of interest and will be involved in the next step of the synthesis. Market Birth, Collapse, and Rebirthb The videogame industry got off to an uncertain start in 1972, when television maker Magnavox introduced Odyssey, the first home videogame console. Priced at $100 (the equivalent of $516 in 2008 dollars),c Odyssey needed a television screen to project its very limited action. The system came with 12 games, including versions of tennis and ping pong, each on a printed circuit board.5 However, partly due to some uninspired marketing and distribution decisions, Odyssey s appeal proved limited. Magnavox sold more than 100,000 game systems by year end, but sales quickly declined and Odyssey was pulled from the market.6 Enter Atari Around the same time, a young entrepreneur named Nolan Bushnell was developing arcade games with the use of then new microprocessor technology.7 In 1972, the company he started, Atari, launched its first hit game an arcade version of ping pong.8 In Pong, two players batted a ball of light back and forth between on screen paddles. The game instructions were simple: Avoid missing ball for high score. 9 Pong was an immediate success: 8,500 arcade consoles were sold in the first year.10 Bushnell ... • 43. Politics And Power Motifs In Julius Caesar Abraham Lincoln once stated Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man s character, give him power. In Lincoln s statement a key term is power, which means the ability or right to control people or things. Another important term in Lincoln s statement is adversity, which means a difficult situation or condition. Taken as a whole, Lincoln means that all men can handle a difficult period by themselves easily, but when someone has power and battles a situation it makes a person corrupt and harder to handle situations. This is because when you have power it is easier to do the wrong thing. Furthermore, Lincoln implies in his statement that power defines a person and power can change a person, most of the time for the bad. Finally, when looked under the lens of William Shakespeare s tragedy Julius Caesar, Abraham Lincolns statement can be proven true through Shakespeare s development of the politics and power motif.... Cassius is telling Brutus that he does not think it is a good idea for Mark Antony to speak at the funeral oration (III.I.237 260). This clearly demonstrates Brutus judgement is naive and impulsive because he does not see the bigger picture and he believes he is more rounded than Cassius. Brutus should not be the one to make that call since he does not know politics he knows law. This affects the work as a whole because when Brutus let Antony speak he turned all the people against the conspirators and made the conspirators run away in fear for their life. This example clearly shows that the Lens is true because it starts to show the beginning of Brutus downfall with power and his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Congressional Committees and Healthcare Policy Essay Congressional Committees and Healthcare Policy (Chapter Review) An important point made in Weissert and Weissert concerning Congress and its committee structure is that the majority of the work in Congress is done through committees. They perform the majority of research on issues and possible solutions, get legislation written, re written and amended, and support it as it moves through Congress and finally gets passed. They are the workhorses of the legislature (Weissert and Weissert, 29). The breadth of information on any given issue that has to be assimilated, analyzed and formed into a bill that can be passed by the two chambers of Congress is complex, and lawmakers cannot realistically apply significant time and attention to... Committees are responsible for oversight of federal agencies, and while this is described as complicated...tedious, (Weissert and Weissert, 61) and seems to be a mostly a passive process, an example was cited where at least one committee member was more active. Representative John Dingell was essentially accused of bullying federal agencies (Weissert and Weissert, 61) when he was chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, due to his apparent micro management style. House committee investigations of presidential behavior, while becoming less common, are other areas where committees have influence outside of Congress (Weissert and Weissert, 61). Another example given is investigation by the House Judiciary Committee of the sentences handed down by federal judges thought to be too soft (Weissert and Weissert, 78). A third point made by Weissert and Weissert is that the power, effectiveness and popularity of Congressional committees can be influenced and weakened. When party leadership is stronger, the power of committees is lessened. Party leaders can find ways to get their pet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Sun Also Rises Relationships In Ernest Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises, various characters suffer from physical and psychological brokenness as a result of the traumatic events of the Great War. Though Hemingway s character Lady Brett Ashley did not serve a soldier but as a worker in a military hospital, she is a veteran of the war nonetheless. Despite Brett s seemingly carefree and unapologetic lifestyle and personality, she is internally fragmented like the other characters in the novel. This fragmentation surely comes from her experiences in the military hospital where she watched soldiers die or become broken beyond repair, physically and psychologically. Though Brett does not bear physical scars, watching people die when she could only do so much to help left her psychological... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the end of the novel, when Brett laments that her relationship with Jake could have been great, Jake only says back that, Isn t it pretty to think so? (Hemingway 250). This indicates that Jake is now disillusioned with Brett and while she thinks fondly of what could have been, he knows better as does the reader. Brett will never commit to one man because the only true source of stability that Brett has in her life is the instability of her romantic relationships. Like many of the other characters in the novel, Brett is a war veteran and was thrust into a horrific environment filled with a chaos that she had very little control over. The instability that her dramatic romantic and sexual relationships offera Brett is not a chaotic or uncontrollable instability. Instead, it is an instability that only she can control through her sexual agency. By maintaining a control over her instable and complicated personal life, Brett turns this disorder into a controllable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Marina Lambrini Diamandis Research Paper Marina Lambrini Diamandis was born on the tenth of October in 1985 in Brynmawr, Wales, though she grew up in a small town named Pandy. She only had one sibling; an older sister. Most of her inspiration came from her childhood music teacher who told her she could she could do anything. Diamandis went to the University of East London to study music for a year, and then transferred to Middlesex University for a classic composition course, where she dropped out two months in. While Marina was a teen, she spent a lot of time going to auditions, which all turned out to be unsuccessful. She had chances to perform in The Lion King, and be in a boy band, but she ended up falling ill so she ultimately could not audition for either. Her stage name, Marina and the Diamonds was created in 2005. Diamandis did not have any band members, so she came to the conclusion that Diamonds stood for her fans. Marina released her first song Mermaid vs. Sailor , which she self produced. Obsessions was the second song she released, on the fourteenth of February, 2009.
