Describe Yourself Sample Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Describe Yourself" may seem deceptively simple at first glance,
but it quickly becomes a challenging endeavor. Describing oneself requires a delicate balance
between self-awareness and humility, as well as the ability to choose relevant aspects of one's
personality, experiences, and achievements to highlight. The difficulty lies in presenting a
genuine and comprehensive picture without veering into self-indulgence or self-deprecation.
Expressing one's personality and traits in a coherent manner demands introspection and a keen
understanding of one's own strengths and weaknesses. It involves navigating the fine line
between confidence and arrogance, ensuring that the essay is not overly boastful while still
portraying a positive self-image. Striking this balance can be a formidable task, as individuals
often find it challenging to objectively evaluate their own qualities.
Moreover, the challenge extends to crafting a narrative that engages the reader. It's not just about
listing personal attributes but weaving them into a compelling story that reflects growth,
resilience, and uniqueness. Selecting the right anecdotes and experiences to illustrate key points
requires thoughtful consideration.
Additionally, the pressure to stand out in a sea of similar essays further complicates the writing
process. How does one distinguish oneself from countless other individuals with similar
academic backgrounds or experiences? This dilemma adds an extra layer of complexity to the
task, demanding creativity and originality in self-expression.
Furthermore, the essay should align with the expectations of the audience, be it a college
admissions committee or a potential employer. Understanding what aspects of oneself would be
most relevant and appealing to the specific audience is an additional challenge that requires
research and awareness.
In conclusion, writing a "Describe Yourself" essay is a multifaceted task that goes beyond simple
self-description. It necessitates a delicate balance between self-promotion and humility, demands
introspection and self-awareness, and requires the ability to craft a compelling narrative that
resonates with the intended audience. Successfully navigating these challenges is crucial for
creating an impactful and memorable essay.
If you find yourself struggling with such tasks, you may consider seeking assistance. There are
various resources available, such as HelpWriting.net, where you can find support for crafting
essays, similar assignments, and more.

A Love Spell Research Paper
You Want To Do A Love Spell? Really? Let me start off by saying that if you are
unhappy in your life, no spell will make that all disappear. Happiness does not
come from spells; it comes from you knowing who you are, totally and honestly
and from being one with nature. Before you can even cast a spell, you must be
ready to believe in yourself, to learn and understand yourself, challenge your
circumstances to change, and to listen while observing. When the underlying
problem still exists, a spell is not a magical band aid that will make things all better.
It is also very essential that you understand that the basis of Wicca are to do no harm,
which includes influencing the hearts and souls of others. While a love spell may
assist you in strengthening
Gender Roles In Ancient Mediterranean
Gossiping during the Ancient Mediterranean was a form of social control, which
enforced social norms such as ethical sexual behaviors. Gossip is usually
established from witnessing an action that is considered a deviation from the
standard behaviors within a given society. Set restraints and values produce a power
dynamic and allow individuals to claim their subjecthood; this socially constructed
definition of subjecthood allows people to categorize themselves within the social
and political hierarchy in order to make sense of who they are, such as their
sexuality. The interdictions built and created an understanding of one s subjecthood
and were controlled by gossip. As a result, gossip defines what is acceptable within
that society, the creation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, if a couple did not perform sexual intercourse in the manner that abided
the interdictions stated in the Talmud, there would be public and physical
consequences on their children. Why are there lame children? Because they [their
fathers] turned over the tables. Why are there dumb children? Because they talk
during intercourse. Why are there blind children? Because they look at that place
(Nedarim 20a b; Boyarin p. 110). In this interpretation of the text, the ministering
angels told R. Yohanan b. Dehabi that those who perform unconventional sexual
behavior will have children with birth defects. The deformed children became
public evidence that the couple did not follow the code of the Talmud and they
would have had to confront the gossip that circled around the community about
them and their children. This also deals with the issue of the panopticon, which is
the idea that God is the all seeing eye and is always watching you, even in the
married bed. This theory of surveillance functions as a social policing because it
shapes behaviors such as those in the marital bed and enforces the ideas in the

Figuring out how to watch TV without a cable or satellite subscription can leave
you feeling overwhelmed. When my wife and I cut the cord, we went back and forth
for weeks on the decision. Ultimately, it was the best thing we ever did for our family.
We are saving thousands, and watching quality shows we enjoy without all of the
garbage television shows that comes with a cable bundle. Don t think we re missing
out without cable TV.We watch the current seasons of hit shows like Game of
Thrones , The Walking Dead , and Better Call Saul . Watching sports without cable is
easy. And most importantly, the kids are satisfied with all the content available on
Amazon Prime.
I know you ll be happy when you call the cable company and cut the cord once and
for all, but I wanted to share some tips and tricks that may make this decision easier.
Keep a TV Journal
Don t rack your brain trying to figure out everything your family watches. Simply
write is down in a journal. Hand everyone a small notebook and when they watch a
show record the show title and network in the notebook. This will give you an idea
of your families viewing habits and let you know which are the most watch networks.
Many will be surprised to find that 80 90% of the shows they watch are on NBC,
CBS, ABC, and FOX. Those broadcast networks are free using an over the air

Relationship Between Orthodontic And Periodontics
The term synergy refers to two or more agents acting together to create an effect
greater than that predicted by knowing only the separate effects of the individual
agents. This definition is applicable to the classic relationship between orthodontic
and periodontics specialties in treating patients.1
An Interdisciplinary approach is often necessary to treat complex dental problems in
our patients and the example is ortho perio inter relation. A desire to improve
dentofacial appearance has been found to be the primary motivating factor for
seeking treatment in adults.
Plaque is a major etiologic factor in the development of periodontal disease.
Results from past animal studies done in dentitions with reduced periodontium
showed that in the absence of plaque, orthodontic forces and tooth movements do not
induce gingivitis. The orthodontic bands, brackets and wires compromises the self
cleansing property of the dentition which further contribute to the development of
gingival inflammation. Gingivitis and gingival over growth appear to be the main
short term effects of orthodontic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In adult patients, the loss of teeth or periodontal support can result in pathological
migration of teeth involving either a single tooth or a group of teeth. This may result
in the development of a midline diastema or spacing between the teeth with or
without incisal proclination, rotation or tipping of bicuspids and molars with the
collapse of the posterior occlusion and decreasing vertical dimension. Orthodontic
treatment either helps to correct these problems, or it helps to prevent them from
progressing further. The main reasons cited to justify the provision of orthodontic
treatment are improvement of facial and dental aesthetics with dental health and
function. However, association between malocclusions and periodontal condition is

Men Who Were Sent to Alcatraz Essay
Alcatraz began in 1850 as a military prison. Later it became a federal prison. Then on
the verge of 30 years it was closed. Then for a while Indians used the island. Alcatraz
was used to house the criminals who provoked problems at other jails. The island
was located off the coast of California. The island has had many uses over a span of
122 years. Alcatraz was first used as a Military prison. They used it as a Military
prison from 1850 to 1934. In 1934 it was changed to a federal prison. The Military
cons were the first inmates of the prison. Then after roughly 30 years of federal
prison use, Alcatraz was shut down due to deterioration and cost.

The men s uniforms were white and black or black and white shirts with blue

with their father or husband who worked in the jail. Some inmates would go years
without seeing a woman or hearing one s voice. The food and drink provided was
on holidays the inmates were served fine meals such as stuffed celery, tom turkey
roasted, pumpkin pie, fruit cake, and coffee. The inmates were fed 3 times a day
and always had decent food. Most inmates said it was better than other federal
prisons. But for drinks, the only fresh water on the island was rain and fog.
Alcatraz experienced various deaths on the island. Eight inmates were murdered, 15
died of disease. Also five suicides took place; most men did not have time to attempt
suicide because guards and officers were always walking the halls, also no knives,

The Ombudsman Program Case
At Indiana University, there are many conflicts between students and faculty that
cannot be resolved. There are concerns that students and faculty both have to which
they have differing views on. The problem is that there is no clear cut way to resolve
this issue; but, with an ombudsman program, it may be easier. The Ombudsman
programcan regulate disputes between two parties and also differ any responsibility
on the university. The fact of the matter is that students wantto voice their concerns
but they feel that they will not get exactly what they want out of it. For example, if
a student feels that a certain race is getting discriminated on more than others, he
/she will have to try and find a way to voice this; which can be hard at a large... Show

The first program is for faculty work space/environment. This program focuses on as
stated on the Northwestern page, If any faculty member has concerns, complaints, or
particular anxieties concerning any aspect of their work environment that have not
been adequately addressed through regular channels, or which seem intractable,
please feel free to communicate or meet with any of the distinguished emeritus
faculty appointed to serve as ombudspersons, listed below (Resources). This message
serves as a way for the university to cover any issue relating to work; it s a very open
statement to interpret. Much like Northwestern, Arizona and Cornell both have
similar style programs. The programs are broader than what Northwestern has but is
still essentially the same. This proves that most ombudsman programs are going to be
essentially the same in purpose and nature. The statement that many individuals fail
to read when regarding ombudsman programs is as stated, The Ombudsman office is
a voluntary program and no one is required to use Ombudsman services. If a
community member (visitor) chooses to meet with an Ombudsman, the visitor will
be understood to have agreed to abide by these ethical principles, including agreeing
not to call the Ombudsman to testify with respect to confidential communications

Cultural Capital Needed For Gain Upward Social Mobility
As a student from a working class background, I did not have access to the type of
cultural capital needed to gain upward social mobility. For example, I come from a
family that has had no formal education beyond high school and so I was without the
knowledge of how to gain access into the realm of higher education. My family had
never gone through the application process and so they did not know how to access
and utilize the collegehelp that my school provided. Also, my high schoolonly had
fourteen counselors available to provide assistance to the 4,263 students that
attended the school (Illinois Report Card 2010). This counselor to student ration
meant that not much time could be devoted to each student to give them the help
they needed to navigate the complex college application system (Civil Rights Data
2009, Illinois Report Card 2010). During my time in high school, I never actually
spoke to any of the counselors about college plans and I was not even aware that they
could help in that area. In the following sections I detail how the cultural capital
borrowed or learned from scholarship programs and cultural mentors ultimately
impact a student s upward mobility most.
Exclusive scholarship programs can act as a tool that helps move a working class
student beyond the achievement levels of their parents. These programs do so by
exposing students to privileged knowledge, skills, and strategies that they would not
access to otherwise. Lareau and Horvat define these types
Mapping And Sharing, The Consumer Genome By Natasha
Singer
The article Mapping, and Sharing, the Consumer Genome is about companies
(mainly Acxiom) that access information on consumers from third party sources to
provide other companies a basis to market items to that consumer. The author,
Natasha Singer, is arguing that Acxiom and other companies like it need to have
more transparency, like the ability to see your own profile, and revealing other privacy
issues (security). She has an abundance of good points and supporting details. This
topic is important because these companies basically go unregulated giving them the
freedom to do almost anything they please to do. The information can be sensitive
basically painting a red target on these companies for hackers. This impacts people

Hydrogen Energy In Long Beach
As you go throughout your day, you use energy many times. Turning on the lights,
using the toaster, taking the bus to school, all examples of using energy. Slowly,
the fossil fuels that we are burning to get this energy are harming the environment.
Hydrogen energy and biofuels would bring many benefits to Long Beach,
California because of how well they work together. Long Beach is the perfect place
for these 2 energy sources because Hydrogen Energy requires the city using to to
have a Hydrogen Fueling station, which Long Beach does (afdc.energy.gov). It
needs to have a lot of land, which Long Beach has. And since Southern California
works for both Hydrogen and Biofuels, it would be the ideal spot. Hydrogen is
nontoxic, which means it poses no threat to humans, and its very efficient so it won t
need as much. Also, biofuels are environmentally friendly, and they are cheap....

Some of the disadvantages are that it s very expensive, its difficult to store and
transport, and its flammable and its impossible to detect leaks. However, biofuels
have none of these problems. Biofuels don t produce much greenhouse gas, which
doesn t really help complement Hydrogen. They are great for countries with little
to no oil reserves, but the United States, and specifically California, have a good
sized oil reserve. However, it costs about the same as gasoline, which helps since
Hydrogen is very expensive. Also biofuels are renewable. For example, fossil fuels
aren t renewable, so they expire and turn into smoke. But biofuels are mostly made
us of waste from crops and plants, so they can be replanted time and time
Patent Trolls Research Paper
Memo to Congress: Help Small Business by Deterring Patent Trolls
Darrell Issa (Republican of California), the incoming chair of the House Intellectual
Property Subcommittee said recently (http://blogs.rollcall.com/technocrat/issa to head
house judiciarys courts intellectual property and the internet panel/?dcz=) that
legislation to curb patent trolls is high on his agenda. That s good news for small
business owners who have faced a growing problem in recent years letters from trolls
demanding payment for alleged patent infringement. When House passed legislation
to curb the problem stalled in the Democratic controlled Senate last year, small
business owners were left without a Congressional solution.
Patent trolls are businesses that acquire intellectual property for the sole purpose of
collecting damages for infringement. More often than not they employ unscrupulous
tactics to extract compensation from alleged infringers. One commonly employed
technique is to send a vaguely worded letter alleging an ill defined infringement and
demanding that the recipient take a license to the troll s ... Show more content on

The American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPILA) (http://www.aipla.org
/learningcenter/library/books/econsurvey/Pages/default.aspx) estimates that the
average cost of defending a patent infringement case is $650,000 for lawsuits of $1
million or less and $2.5 million for those of $1 to $25 million. Because patent trolls
know that many small companies lack these kinds of dollars for a fight over
intellectual property, they often ask for relatively small sums of money in the tens of
thousands of dollars. The difference between the trolls demand for compensation and
the cost of defending an infringement charge gives small business owners a strong
incentive to pay up rather than
The John Smyth s Movement
The left over of John Smyth s movement became endangered. The English law did
not allow such independent churches to be formed or practiced. King James the first
vowed to harshly take charge of anyone who chose to go against or refuse to attend
the Church of England. The Gainsborough group had heard of a city in Amsterdam
that provided religious freedom and decided to migrate across the English Channel to
reach their religious freedom and to escape the persecution. Once they left, they were
not yet Baptists.
Once they reached Amsterdam, they met some Dutch Mennonites, which is a
denomination of the Anabaptists that educated religious liberty and baptism of
believers only. Smyth s group proceeded to follow the way of God more completely as

originally decided to call themselves Brethren or Brethren of the Baptized Way.
Other times they would call themselves the Baptized Churches. Baptists also were

the people who were actually Anabaptists. Of the early English Baptists, it was not

Abstract Education is the most important part of any individual s life. It shapes
characters and builds personalities, introvert and extrovert, pessimistic and
optimistic, loving and aggressive. For a better society an improved educational
system is a must, a system based on ethics and knowledge. The paper examines the
work and educational principles of W.E.B. Dubois and then compares his
proposed system to the currently prevalent educational system. Introduction
William Edward Burghardt Du Bois is one of the greatest African Americans in
history. He was born, 23rd February 1868 in Massachusetts. Du Bois had an
unusual life, in the sense that in his early years he knew nothing of the racial
discrimination prevalent in the South. He lived a life of privilege for a black in
U.S. He faced neither outright discrimination nor economic difficulties. He
graduated as a Valedictorian and the only colored student and even went on to
become the first black to secure a doctorate degree in history, from Harvard. It was
during graduation that he got first taste of the racial prejudice prevalent in the
American society. He began educating himself in the history of discrimination. He
took a Bachelor s degree from Fisk University, where he came face to face with
racism and frequent lynching or name calling. He vowed to elevate the status of
his race and help solve what he referred to as, the Negro problem. At Fisk he was part
of the Mozart society, editor of college newspaper and a

Some human impacts to keep this water clean consists of a clean environment by not
littering, picking up any garbage by/in the creek, or making sure only pure water is

creeks don t have a great quality, but actually end up have an excellent water

One example is using bacteria to actually purify drinking water. Although, that
seems like a horrible solution, but according to a new study, certain species of
microbes may help remove trace minerals such as zinc, selenium and even arsenic
from your drinking water in the future. Some pros are bacteria will clean/purify
drinking water and the creek water, zinc concentration makes bacteria a million
times higher in the surrounding water (will increase the water index quality),
degrade herbicides found in the water, Aminobacter Bacteria is harmless and still
reduces 50% of BAM (a harmless substance), reduces time and money spent, etc.
Some cons include if the bacteria get mixed with invertebrates it could damage a
food chain by killing the invertebrates, some bacteria could cause health problems
for people smelling it, some carbon dioxide gets left behind, bacteria do not fully
penetrate within the sand filters leaves some harmful substances, bacteria don t work
well with sand bacteria or just sand, could kill the plants on the banks of the creek,
Julius Caesar And Calpurnia Essay
Portia and Calpurnia were both noble and important character in Julius Caesar. They
were both married to men who had authority in Rome. Portia was married to Brutus
while Calpurnia was married to Caesar who had more power than Brutus. There are
similarities between these two and also differences. Brutus and Portia marriageis
based on equality. Calpurnia s marriage is based on the Roman marriage, where the
man is in charge.
Portia and Brutus s marriage was based on treating each other as equals and no one
has power over another. First and foremost, Portia was only seen right after the
important conversation between the conspirators. She was worried about Brutus,
Dear my lord, Make me acquainted with your cause of grief (Act 1 Scene 2). She
was worried because Brutus was not telling her what s going on and why he s
keeping it a secret. When they swore to treat each other equal, it means not to keep
secrets from one another. Also, Portia said, tell me your counsels, I will not disclose
em (Act 2 Scene 1). Portia is persistent and refused to ignore the fact that her
husband is keeping a secret from her and thinks she is unworthy to know because she
is a woman. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in the first scene of the play, Caesar called for Calpurnia and she
answers, Here, my lord ( Act 1 Scene 2). This shows her obedience to him. Next,
Calpurnia warned caesar, Do not go forth to day: call it my fear (Act 2 Scene 2).
She fears that someone is going to do something to Caesar. Calpurnia tells Caesar
not to go to the senate and he agreed. Then, Decius came and convinced Caesar to
go to the senate because he would be crown, but that was a lie to get him to go.
Since Caesar was in charge, he went to the senate and ignored Calpurnia s warning.
This shows how Calpurnia has no control in their relationship, but is willing to speak
and talk to Caesar about her

(Bixler et al. 2015; Robbins 2006; Wilson 1997; Wilson 1999). The relative success
of the Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement, in that irrigators and tribes were able
to collaborate despite a history of animosity and a century of entrenched power
relationships (Most 2006), is surprising in the context of the political climate that
must be overcome. Environmental groups however, were not part of this new
coalition and are still pursing alternative ways to influence policy outside of CBRM.
In the case of Walker and Hurley (2006) historical political animosities worked
against the process and resulted in its dissolution, whereas in Yung, Patterson, and
Friemund(2010) diversity resulted in an overly compromised watered down
agreement that avoided any contentious issues, and therefore also avoided resolution
since the real issues were never brought into discussion. I am interested in exploring
how the Klamath Basin Settlement Group as a case study of community management
will support or contradict the findings of other scholars. Wilson(1997) states ... while
the symbols of conflict may change a reintroduced wolf, a hydroelectric dam, a

Obesity Is The Biggest Risk Facing Kids Today
In the age of television and fast food, diet and nutrition for children seems to be

Good Communication Is Effective Communication
Good communication is effective communication; it provides direction, a clear goal,
and encourages the flow of ideas. Successful communication is achieved through a
variety of methods, but most importantly, it begins with a foundation of security and
trust within the team. Successful Communication
Over the past few weeks my group has been using our group discussion board as our
primary method of communication. Since beginning our power point project we
have been posting updates, questions and simple check ins to see how each member
of the group is coming along with their portion of the PowerPoint assignment. Our
key to success has been because of our communication; this is especially important
because we are a virtual group. We touch base with each other regularly for multiple
reasons, the first being the need to establish a relationship.
In contrast to teams who meet face to face on a regular basis, we cannot pick up on
non verbal clues that are expressed through body language, nor are we able to
establish an emotional connection with one another; with that being said, we must
maintain regular contact in order to build a rapport. Secondly, regular communication
allowed us to report progress and drawbacks that may hinder our success. Moreover,
scheduling regular periods of communication enforced accountability by instituting
periodic milestones of progress.
In previous experiences I have had working in collaborative groups, in regard to the
importance of communication,

modern age. The war between the Protestant majority and the sizable Catholic
minority in Northern Ireland was centuries old, but the Troubles as they are called
lasted about 100 years and some argue still continue today in a lesser form. The
Protestants fought to keep their majority and remain part of Protestant England;
while the Catholics wished to cede from what they viewed as Protestant rulers and
join the Irish Republic. However, while this conflict heated up in Northern Irelandthe
British decided to intervene by sending troops into the torn community. At first this
was welcomed by Catholic moderates, but soon British practices were viewed through

Programming for a Better Future
Programing for a Better Future The world has become extremely depended on
technology. But hardly anyone takes time to think about all the hard work that has
been put into creating the technology and programs. Computer programing is a vast
field with many different categories. The different subcategories are desktop
application programming, core programming, system programming, and
programming science. Within the different categories there are subcategories. The
different subcategories contain various job descriptions ranging from constructing
new computerlanguage to creating a new application such as Java. One of the main
and most important categories is system programming. Programming Science is a
type of advanced programing which develops computing technologies, programing
languages and data mining. Even though some people do not have to specialize, it
would be the best option. The different specialties are algorithmdesign, programming
languages, artificial intelligence, robotics, scientific programming, supercomputing,
computer aided design, virtual reality and computer graphics. Algorithm design is
constructing a specific method to mathematical process. Programming languages is
having a computer programmerwrite instructions for a computer to follow. Artificial
intelligence is when human like intelligence is shown and experienced by machines
or software. Robotics is a branch of technology that consists of design, construction,
operation and application of robots.
Alkite Synthesis
On 1/7, the Alky started to only process FCCU BB and no longer process Coker BB.
Alkylation chemistry neither likes contaminants nor diluents. Contaminants are direct
acid consumers. The more contaminants in the feed, the more often the unit will be at
an acid constraint. Diluents do not reaction in alkylationchemistry but they take up
space and decrease the effective area for isobutane and olefin to contact. With less
contact, side reactions like polymerization are more likely to occur; polymerization
reactions are a direct acid consumer.
Comparing the FCCU and Coker BB, Coker BB contains far more contaminants and
diluents than FCCU BB (see Table 2, pg.4).
By lowering the amount of contaminants and diluents, acid consumption was reduced

The best way to decrease acid residence time is by lowering the level in the settlers.
PAR has abnormally high settler levels (45 60% vs. typical 15 20%). The acid
consumption impact of running at the appropriate levels in the settler is 0.15 lb
/gal or 1.3 MM$/yr in savings (1.1 MM$/yr at cooling constraint and 1.3 MM$/yr
at acid constraint). Process Support recommends maintaining a level of 15 20% in
C and A settler and a level of 40% in B settler. B settler should be run higher than C
or A because of risk of sending lighter hydrocarbons to the spent acid tank.
3.Emulsion recycle
Emulsion recycle minimizes undesirable side reactions, such as polymerization, in
the acid settler by keeping the olefins and alkyl sulfates (esters) in contact with
isobutane. This results in improved Alkylate quality with reduced acid consumption.
Process Support recommends opening all emulsion recycle valves 100%.
In general, maximum acid recycle rates and minimum acid residence time promote
better Alkylate product quality, and decrease the potential for polymerization. Net
effect of implementing these steps is $5.3 MM$/yr due to reduced acid consumption
and lower endpoint.
Operations began lowering settler levels and opening acid recycle valves in
February. Progress on this effort will be reported in the next bi monthly
Trichinosis Research Paper
Trichinosis Trichinosis is a rare infection caused by a parasitic worm. People can
become infected by eating the raw or undercooked meat of an animal infected with
this worm. Bear meat and pig meat are possible sources of this infection. The
severity of the illness will vary depending on the number of worms in the
contaminated meat that is eaten. Once the worms are eaten, they enter the intestines
and can cause symptoms. From there, the worms travel through blood vessels to
other areas of the body. When worms reach the muscles, a cyst forms around the
worms. The illness can range from mild to severe. In mild to moderate cases, most
symptoms will go away in a few months. The infection can cause serious health
problems if the worms heavily
E. Colia Case Study
One of the most major and deadly outbreaks of E.coli in the world happened in the
small rural town of Walkerton, Ontario, Canada in 2000. The cause of the illness
was from the town s local water supply. Even though tap water contains chlorine
and undergoes many treatments, out breaks can still occur. This horrendous
waterborne illness caused seven deaths and more than 2300 illnesses over six
months. On the 13 of May, 2000 many citizens of Walkerton began to show
symptoms of bloody diarrhoea, fever and abdominal pain. Shortly after this the
region s Medical Officer of Health, Murray McQuigge urged people to not use tap
water and to boil any water they wish to drink. After many months scientists revealed
that the cause of the illness was the

Disappointed, Yet Optimistic Let America Be America Again
The Poem, Let America Be America Again was written in 1938 by Langston
Hughes. An American writer of the 20th century and well known for writing about
injustice and inequality against low income working folks that existed in his days
as a kid in Harlem south of Manhattan, New York. At a young age in the 1920 s were
the years of Manhattan s black renaissance (Hughes). In the poem Let America Be
America Again , the speaker expressed his frustrations of African Americanwho are
victims of deception regarding what American is portrayed be. Our narrator
emphasizes how dream became the motivation of the American people. Hughes
also made reference to the inequality and lack of freedom that existed in the
American community especially the disadvantaged multiracial, multi skill
workers. Hughes wrote about the shift in what is meant by a free America as a
result of greed and not living up to what it s known for, The Land of the Free .
People made brave move from old world through many shores to build the now
known America. The narrator however did not lose all hope. In the last lines of the
poem, Hughes showed that in the end, the freedom would be worth the while. He
expressed hope in a way of an oath that America will be! that America would become
that land of the free, the American had dreamt it to be.
Hughes begin with an expressions of hopes and dreams that make American

What Are Respirators Are Common Today And Household
Settings
Respirators are defined by Merriam Webster as, a device worn over the mouth and
nose to protect the respiratory tract by filtering out dangerous substances (as dusts or
fumes) from inhaled air (Merriam Webster). The use of respirators are common today
in both industrial and household settings. The earliest known idea for a respiratorcan
be traced to Pliny the Elder over 1900 years ago. He suggested the use of wearing
animal bladders to protect Roman mine workers from inhaling red oxide of lead
(OSHA). In 1854, John Stenhouse developed a respirator using powdered charcoal
(see Figure 1) that could be used for protection from gas. Stenhouse s respirator led
to the use of activated charcoal, which is still used today (OSHA). There... Show

Wet laid process
The wet laid process is a modified version of a process that is used to create paper.
There are various methods that can be utilized based on the needs of the finished
product, production, demand, etc. The particular wet laid process that was utilized
in this experiment yielded a mat that was approximately 12 x12 with varying
thickness, based on the mass of material used. One mat could be produced
approximately every hour, with an additional two hours needed for the drying of
each mat. The material is mixed with a dispersal agent, flocculating agent, and a
resin. The process involved the mixing of the chemicals, along with the material. The
resulting mixture is then added to the suction box and filled with more water. A
vacuum is then pulled by opening a valve below the suction box, resulting in a mat of
the material on the mesh bottom of the suction box.
This project was a continuation of prior research conducted by Meghan Moore. She
investigated how the efficiency of using activated carbon fiber compared to
traditional filtering face piece respirators for nanoparticle aerosols. The particular
activated carbon fibers used in this study were two nonwoven activated carbon fiber
felts, with a surface area of 1,000m2/g and 1,500m2/g, and two woven activated
carbon fibers
Resilience In Andrew Shatte s
When we fall down, it takes resilience to get back up, because without resilience,
what reason do we have to rise again? It was on March 14th, my 19th birthday, that
I began making my way through Karen Reivich and Andrew ShattГ© s The
Resilience Factor. As a college freshman living away from home for the first time, I
can use some advice on how to respond to adversity. This is why I picked up The
ResilienceFactor, despite being dubious of the self help genre. A beautiful day at

learn how to keep going in the face of struggle. What more apt setting, where so
many dreams are chased after for lifetimes, could there be to find the elusive key to

The Resilience Factor is mainly targeted at working class Western culture, whereas
the research of Maggie Zraly and her colleagues focuses on the vastly different
people of Rwanda, who experienced a tremendously dissimilar adversity from
what most people reading The Resilience Factor have or will face. However, this
sharp contrast also allows us to see the universality of resilience in all of humanity,
independent of culture, geography, or values. Kwihangana, the Rwandan process
of drawing strength from within oneself, bears a striking resemblance to one of
the techniques of putting it in perspective, in which you tell yourself that you can
deal with an adversity, that you do have the strength to overcome (Reivich and
ShattГ© 208). The process of ABC ing adversities also includes the essential
aspect of identifying and accepting an adversity for what it is, closely related to
gukomeza ubuzima, which allows Rwandans to do the same by accepting struggle
and continuing to fight. Finally, the practice kwongera kubaho, which forces
Rwandans to acknowledge their existential being, is closely related to part of The
Resilience Factor s conclusion, which highlights the existential paradox of
mortality. This paradox is what makes time precious, as we contemplate the risk of
taking action while we only have one life to live (309). This relates to our resilience
in that we must balance the fear of failure and pain while taking the right risks to
thrive. This balance may not lay directly in The Resilience Factor, the book can help

Rhetorical Analysis Of A Hanging
In A Hanging, George Orwell utilizes the rhetorical appeals of pathos and ethos in
historical context to convince the audience that the unjustifiable execution of a
person is not only barbaric, but unethical. This is successful because of his sensitive
word choice and sympathetic tone. Through his cleaver use of language techniques
and word selection, Orwell evokes the reader s sympathy for the prisoners struggles.
He repeatedly shows that the prisoners are treated like animals. In the opening
lines of the essay, the setting is described immediately highlights the inhumane
conditions in which the prisoners are contained in. We notice this when the author
is describing the cells, he states, we are waiting outside the condemned cells, row
of sheds fronted with double bars, like small animal cages (Orwell 93). It is
evident again when he is describing the way it took six guards to escort the
prisoner. He says it was like men handling a fish which is still alive and may jump
out of the water (Orwell 94). The sprouting moustache, absurdly too big for his body
(Orwell 93), and a puny wisp of a man (Orwell 93) suggests malnourishment and
neglect among this prisoner, but the reader can infer that this treatment is spread out
amongst all the prisoners. In contrast with this sickly man, he describes the prison
guards as tall Indian warriors (Orwell 93) and even describes one guard in
particular as a fat Dravidian (Orwell 94). The details of these well fed men in
comparison to this ill man fuels a feeling of sympathy towards the prisoner. He
provides these details to evoke sympathy for the prisoner to prove that killing a man
is unethical. Through the appeal of pathos, we can empathize with George Orwell.
Orwell never states in the essay as to why the Hindu man was to be hanged. He
does not want the reader to form an opinion on whether or not the prisoner should
be executed or not. Instead, he builds his essay in a way in which he directs us to a
path that only argues that taking a life is wrong, no matter the crime. When he says
till that moment, I had never realized what it means to destroy a healthy conscious
man (Orwell 95), the reader is able to empathize with him. Before he says this, the

Pirated and Counterfiet Software
Ethics is one of the fundamental building blocks for all organizations. Specifically,
information ethics directly relates to Management Information Systems. Information
ethics includes the ethical and moral issues arising from the development and use of
information technologies. This also includes the creation, collection, duplication,
distribution, and processing of information itself with the aid of computer
technologies. This paper will focus on the illegal duplication and distribution of
software. There are two primary ethical areas concerning software: Pirated software
and counterfeitsoftware. Pirated software is the unauthorized use, duplication,
distribution, or sale of copyrighted software. Software publishers maintain ownership
of the software they create and only they control the right to duplicate and distribute
their products. Counterfeit software is software that is manufactured to resemble
authentic software and is sold as such. This could include the illegal copying and
distribution of commercial software on DVD or CD. This is typically accomplished
using a CD burner. New technology has made it much easier for consumers to be
deceived by counterfeiters via high quality packaging and fake products that are
nearly impossible to distinguish from authentic software. Software publishers are
continuously looking for ways for consumers to be able to distinguish whether they
have purchased authentic or counterfeit merchandise. Many companies are
attempting to
Negative Stereotypes In Video Games
According to several sources around 42% of the American population plays video
games, and around 1.2 billion people worldwide play video games today. Gaming
has become an increasingly more popular hobby since its creation. As such the
medium has obviously attracted a multitude of different people and groups, all
consisting of diverse backgrounds, body types, sexes, races, nationalities and the
like. However, contrary to the numerous demographics video games have come to
attract, it is very evident the vast majority of them do not seem to be marketed
toward many of them via game characters, and their importance, if any, in a game.
Video games show an overwhelming amount of white malecharacters, despite the
many demographics they reach. Of the characters that are not white, or male, that
are represented, are often represented poorly. For example, many black characters
represented in video games are often characterized as vulgar, and violent. Women
represented in games are often characterized as support characters, or objects of
sexual desire. Considering forms of sexism, racism, and other such types of
prejudices are still prominent in modern society, and these representations obviously
do not help how people see these marginalized groups. Ultimately, these
representations, or lack thereof, affect people in society in a number of ways, by
perpetuating prejudice and harmful stereotypes.
Media is one our society s greatest ways to spread information, though it s not always

INTRODUCTION Effective Communication is significant for managers in the
organizations so as to perform the basic functions of management, i.e., Planning,
Organizing, Leading and Controlling. Communication helps managers to perform
their jobs and responsibilities. Communication serves as a foundation for planning.
All the essential information must be communicated to the managers who in turn
must communicate the plans so as to implement them. Organizing also requires
effective communication with others about their job task. Similarly leaders as
managers must communicate effectively with their subordinates so as to achieve the
team goals. Controlling is not possible without written and oral communication.

Any change in plans might be communicated with the employees in advance so that
resistance may not come from them. Communication helps the organization in this
regard by supplying information to the employee. CHARACTERISTICS OF
COMMUNICATIONS: Segmented: Even in small organizations, it is wrong to
assume that all employees will have the same needs, interests and desires when it
comes to business communication. Effective business communication is segmented
to meet the needs of specific audiences. Employees working in an administrative
setting, for instance, will have different needs and different access to information
than employees working in a manufacturing environment. Specific: Generic business
communication doesn t meet the needs of anyone. Effective business communication
is specific. The more specific communication is, the more it meets the needs of its
audience. Accurate: When information is inaccurate it loses its credibility. The
sender of the information also loses credibility. Effective business communication is
accurate in terms of the content conveyed and in terms of simple things that include
grammar, spelling and punctuation. Timely: Employees need to know what is going
on in their organizations and in the external environment that impacts them. Today s
technology driven environment makes it more challenging than ever before for
businesses to communicate with employees in a timely manner,

The World Bank And Imf
As a result of the inadequacies of the World Bank and IMF, Uganda today appears
to be no better off today then as they were in the year(s) prior to acquiring the
assistance in debt relief in 1998. According to Ana Eiras; Despite such a monstrous
display of resources, according to the index of economic freedom, the Bank s
money has done nothing to improve the economic freedom in recipient countries .
Erias goes on to make it clear that many of the country s who have received
assistance have seen no change or economic improvement and are just as poor as
they were many years ago. There is a distinct ineffectiveness on the part of the World
Bankand IMF to effectively utilize their plethora of economic intelligence,
strategic relationships, and technical and industrial knowledge to help a country to
an improved economic state. Uganda received as much as $650 million in US
dollars for the purposes of debt relief back in 1998. The relief was to provide
assistance in several ways to include an educational program, the purchase and
cancellation by HIPC Trust Fund of outstanding IDA credits the payment of debt
service by HIPC Trust Fund , savings on IDA charges associated with these
instruments , (Press Release 1998). In short the World Bank was to cover as much
as half of Uganda s annual debt. They were awarded this because they had met the
requirements , and Uganda was said to have the strongest performing economies in
Africa . (Press Release 1998) What was
The Gulf War
While militarily, the Gulf War of 1990 91 seemed like a quick and decisive victory,
it was an environmental disaster, both at the time and when considering the residual
impacts. Environmental travesties were committed by both the Iraqi aggressor and
the allied forces, ranging from use of minerals like depleted uranium in weapons to
deliberate dumping of oil into the Gulf. Oil fires and spills had a severe impact on all
forms of life, most prominent in the Gulf region, but with possible global
implications. Human health, wildlife, natural resourcesand ecosystems were all
adversely impacted by actions taken and not taken by both sides of the conflict.

The impacts of the spill were not immediately known because of the slow flow of
information coming out of the region. Also, a gag order originating in the Bush
White House specifically prohibited American scientists from discussing the impact
of the oil spills. (Hawley, p 47 48)
The water exchange rate in the Persian Gulf is relatively slow and the area has
classic low energy shorelines. All of this meant that cleanup efforts would be slow
and that the natural recovery would take years and years. The low energy shoreline
along the Saudi Arabian coast means that there are no crashing waves that could
wash away oil on the beaches. Also, the shore has a naturally gentle slope, which
means that high tide would wash oil all the way up the beach, impacting all the
shore birds and other organisms. (Hawley p 54)
The threat to human life by the oil spills in the Gulf was very real. In fact, the
recovery efforts in the area focused on desalination plants that supplied water to
much of the population. (Hawley p 53) The contamination of Gulf water was a
direct threat to the water supply. In addition, much of the 500 kilometers of coastline
that were affected by the oil spills consisted of wetlands and mangroves. (Clark p
102) Both of these provide important habitats and are essential to the sustainability of
all life.
The oil spills that began in January 1991 had both direct and indirect consequences
for marine animals living in the Persian Gulf
Exploring Different Types of Video Games Essay
Video games in today s society have become very popular. Every new game that
comes out to be played and conquered by the average gamer has its own category.
There are several other types of genres of games that people play but because of big
hit titles and the new popular game systems like the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3,
people become more interested in a gamethat is well known than a game they have
never even heard of before. Every game has its own storyline and own way of how it
unfolds and where the game ends according to game play. Some of the biggest
reasons people sway to certain genres of games is because of the game titles released
under them and the demand of people who want a good game under that category.

Unlike action/adventure games, people don t have to run to a particular spot in the
game to get that special item they wanted, instead, they just simply unlock it when he
or she has accomplished the necessary requirements to get the item.
Action/Adventure categories of games are very unique. These types of games
generally feature long term obstacles that must be overcome using a tool or object
that is acquired at the beginning of the game. These types of games are generally a
more item gathering, simple puzzle solving, and combat game. Games such as
Assassins Creed and Ratchet and Clank are perfect examples of this category of
games. Assassins Creed is a bit more puzzle solving and more stealth like than
Ratchet and Clank whereas Ratchet and Clank is more of an action pack filled
game with more item gathering and small obstacles along the way encountering
combat in every turn that is made. Another famous action/adventure game would
be Super Mario. The perfect storyline of saving a princess and while looking for
her one would encounter different but strong enemies in each level he or she would
go in; along the way he or she would also benefit from picking up certain items and
having to complete certain obstacles to obtain that item that does later on become
very handy when used it at the right time. Role playing games play similar to action
/adventure games but has a much more difficult way of how the game is completed.

How Did Nero Influence Rome
Emperor Nero was the most detrimental emperor to Rome. He burned Rome so he
could build Rome as he imagined it, he blamed the fire on the Christians, and he
persecuted the Christians. Those are the acts that have been proven to be done by
him that have affected Rome the most. He has also done some despicable things to
become and stay emperor. Emperor Neroruled Rome from 54 AD to 68 AD. He was
originally named Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus, but his name was changed to Nero
in 49 AD when Lucius s mother Agrippina married Emperor Claudius. Historians
have read that Nero s fate was inevitable. His real father, Gnaeus Domitius, who
died when Nero was three, was extremely violent. It is written that Gnaeus once
deliberately ran over a young boy with his chariot as he drove through a local
village. When his friends congratulated him upon hearing of the birth of his son,
Nero s father said that anything born to Agrippina and him would be unlikeable and
a disaster. Because of these traits in Nero s father, the people knew that hardly any
good could come out of it. The people of Rome were right.
One of the most despicable manifestations of human flesh ever to disgrace this
planet was Nero Claudius Caesar. Born in A.D. 37, Nero was educated at the feet of
the philosopher Seneca (whom he eventually forced to commit suicide). Nero
murdered his way to the imperial throne, which he occupied from A.D. 54 68. His
life was characterized by debauchery, violence (he caused his own mother to be

In saying that, I was baptized, raised and confirmed Catholic. Whenever I was
facing trials and tribulations, prayer was always the answer. Accordingly, it has
been embedded in my brain that family always have and always will come before
anything else in my life. My parents are to be treated with a high level of respect
and I am to take their word over mine regardless of my age and experiences. As I
transformed into my teenage years, this was a significant difficultly for me
because I wanted to start making decisions for myself but I could not do so
because of my parents. However, this has allowed me to live my life in an open
and honest manner because I know they will not always accept my actions or
decisions but they have taught me to come forth and learn from my mistakes. I am
able to reflect on my past experiences and coming to figure out who I was within
my culture and relate to others. Accordingly, it has taught me respect for others
who are still uncovering who they are within their life. More importantly, it has
allowed me to explore their beliefs, actions and values. For example, a good friend
of mine from the Middle East worked with me this past summer. Everyday, on the
way to work, we would discuss the differences in our religions and customs. She had

Advantages And Uses Of MATLAB
5. Implementation Tool
MATLAB (MATRIX LABORATORY) is a numerical computing environment and
fourth generation programming language. Developed by Math Works, MATLAB
allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data, implementation of
algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other
languages, including C, C++, and FORTRAN. Although MATLABis intended
primarily for numerical computing, an optional toolbox uses the MuPAD symbolic
engine, allowing access to symbolic computing capabilities. An additional package,
Simulink, adds graphical multi domain simulation and Model Based Design for
dynamic and embedded systems.
In 2004, MATLAB had around one million users across industry and academia.

It integrates computation, visualization, and programming environment.
Furthermore, MATLAB is a modern programming language environment: it has
sophisticated data structures, contains built in editing and debugging tools, and
supports object oriented programming. These factors make MATLAB an excellent
tool for teaching and research. MATLAB has many advantages compared to
conventional computer languages (e.g., C, FORTRAN) for solving technical
problems. MATLAB is an interactive system whose basic data element is an array
that does not require dimensioning. The software package has been commercially
available since 1984 and is now considered as a standard tool at most universities
and industries worldwide. It has powerful built in routines that enable a very wide
variety of computations. It also has easy to use graphics commands that make the
visualization of results immediately available. Specific applications are collected in
packages referred to as toolbox. There are toolboxes for signal processing, symbolic
computation, control theory, simulation, optimization, and several other fields of
applied science and
Assimilation Richard Rodriguez Summary
Richard Rodriguez is a famous Mexican American writer, famous for his articles on
immigrant culture and assimilation. Assimilation, according to Rodriguez, is the
integration of one s culture with another. Rodriguez is not in favor of or against
assimilation but acknowledges that it is occurring in America. Rodriguez first
discusses the Canadian model of assimilation, where individuals in a mixed race
culture prefer to remain ethnically and culturally separate. Rodriguez proposes that
America adopts a Mexican model of assimilation, where one is classified by the
culture that one adopts rather than by one s skin color. Americans have a conflicted
and confused view of assimilation, preferring to keep a distinguished sense of self,
while actually assimilating culturally with many different ethnic groups. Americans
have often resisted assimilation, especially if it meant race mixing or cultural
blending. They feared how immigrants would change the culture and... Show more

As the Chicago Tribune states, [These laws allow] someone with no legal right to be
present in the country to be entitled to a very expensive and valuable benefit of
citizenship (The Chicago Tribune 95). The Chicago Tribune implies that these laws
would devalue the meaning and significance of United States citizenship by allowing
non immigrants the same privileges as United States citizens. Furthermore, the
Chicago Tribune implies that it is unfair for illegal immigrants to obtain the same
privileges without being subject to the same responsibilities as United States citizens
are subjected to. The Chicago Tribune argues that legislation allowing illegal
immigrants to pay in state state tuition devalues the worth of United States
citizenship by allowing illegal immigrants the privileges of citizenships without the
The Journey Home By Allison Lester
This reflective report is based on different modelled and shared approaches to
determining what strategy worked best when dealing with 7 year old Elli. Different
approaches were used to decide what skills needed development. Appropriate
questions were we involved to establish an understanding of the child s literacylevel
and perceptive.
For the reading session, I have chosen The Journey home by Allison Lester (2009)
this book is about two characters named Wild and Wooly, who are brother and sister.
One day they decide to dig through the sand to reach the North Pole and then begin a
long journey home through many magical kingdoms. I chose this book because it has
a variety of different genres that will expand a student s imagination through the use
of colourful images and characters. This book will further express the effectiveness of
the student s thoughts and cognitive ability by imagining what will happen next.
The aim of this 20 minute reading session with my 7 year old niece Elli was to learn
how to use a modelled and shared reading strategy with young children and the
value of modelled reading in a balanced literacy program (Tompkins, Campbell,
Green Smith 2015). So I began with seating arrangements. I made sure we were
seated side by side making sure the book is in her hands. I noticed she was flipping
through the pages to further grasp more information about the book. So I decided to
ask her the first question on my list which was, what do you think this book
Prominent Architecture of Melbourne s Federation Square
Federation Square or also known as Fed Square was initially designed in 1997
through a public competition announced by former premier Jeff Kennedy, the site
later opened on the 26th of October 2002. Consuming a total city block the site has
an entire floor area of 38,000 sqm or 9.39 acres, positioned superbly adjacent
Flinders Street Station and St. Pauls Cathedral. The initial competition phase of the
project gathered vast interest from architect from around the world, a total of 177
entries was lodged while 41 of them proposals came from architects located overseas.
It wasn t until July 1997 that Lab Architecture Studio (then located in London) and
Bates Smart (one of Melbourne s prominent architects) was awarded the design
contract for Federation Square. The stage of constructing Federation Square had seen
some major challenges during the developments lifecycle; the project had seen a
change in government in 2001 which inflicted changes to the proposed design of the
complex to please heritage critics. As a result the projects final construction cost
exceeded well above its estimated budget, the final total was approximately $467
million (AUS) which was over four times the original estimated budget. The
construction stage had many complex construction methods that had to be
implemented to construct the extremely unique façade and framework of the
buildings, along with the sites famous Labyrinth and well know platform The Deck .

Monologue Of Jabari
It was like two hands intertwining together when the moon s light peeked through
the gargantuan sycamore trees. We are on the treacherous run to freedom, and I
am eager to get there. Because of my bistered skin, I was shackled and cuffed, and
forced to work in a field my whole life without my family. If all goes well tonight, I
will be a free manwho makes his own decisions instead of having everything forced
upon me by an austere master. It seems like we had been running for days and my
feet had never felt pain this agonizing until now. We slid through the woods like a
snake slithering towards its prey until we began to hear voices. They echoed through
the trees and would not stop. Ducking behind opaque bushes, we waited for the signal

the bushes. This was the signal we have been waiting for our whole lives, the
sweet sound of freedom. I climb out from the cover of the green bushes and
lethargically begin to walk toward the altruistic woman. She stops dead in her tracks
and turns around to see me, Amare, and Chiddy with our big burnt sienna eyes wide
open. We are a scabrous looking group of men, covered in mauve bruises and
swollen wounds cracked with dried carmine blood. What plantantation do you men

Butler Island, in Georgia , I reply exacerbated, for I hope to make her feel bad for us
and our horrible lives of suffering at the plantation.
How d y all get here alive? , she said with aversion in her voice.

Relative Valuing Best Buy
Relative Valuation According to Aswath Damodaran, relative valuation is the most
widely used technique in sell side research at investment banks. Relative valuation
is the concept of using multiples and comparing the value of an asset to a similar
asset in the market. Purchasing a house uses concepts of relative valuation. Houses
are priced by comparing other houses that have similar specification within the
same neighborhood. In this section I will be valuing Best Buy using a historical
relative valuation, ranking model using solver analysis, and pricing Best Buy s
equity share price by discounting the PV sum of 5 years of dividends and applying a
target P/E to my earnings per share forecast in 2020 to find the terminal value.

The Combustion of Polymers
Introduction
The history of polymers stretch back millions of years. These primitive polymers
were created by nature to fulfill the needs of information storage, energy storage and
information reproduction. Human made polymers are a more recent invention, of
the last two hundred years or so. These polymers are general made of highly
flammable hydrocarbons and their derivatives. Fires caused by a combination of
human careless and the physical properties of hydrocarbons have caused millions of
dollars in property damage and claimed an untold number of human lives. It is this
fact that has lead to scientists devoting time and resources to making polymers safer.
In the following paragraphs the mechanism behind burning polymers will be ... Show

This dehydrates the polymer, forming the protective carbon layer. At higher
temperatures the phosphoric acid can help in the generation of cross linked species
and can under go polymerization to form polyphosphates. Which react with the
cross linked species to form the char layer. Borated species work the same way, they
form a glassy surface that helps protect and insulate the substrate. The final pathway
that will be investigated is the suppression of radical species in the reaction space.
This is done by introducing halogenated hydrocarbons and an inorganic enhancer into
the polymer. When the polymer burns, halogen radicals are released into the gas
phase. The halogen reacts with hydrogen, to form a hydrogen halide. Finally, this
species reacts with either hydrogen or oxygen radical to form hydrogen gas or water
vapor, respectfully. From this series of reactions the halogen radical is regenerated,
where it reacts with either the polymer substrate or more gaseous hydrogen to form
hydrogen halide. The halogen radicals are at a lower energy than either the hydrogen
or oxygen radical species. The effectiveness of this method is dependent on the
halogen used. Bromine is the most common due to it narrow temperature activation
range. Chlorine is the next most common but due to a broad temperature range is not
as useful. Florine and

Describe Yourself Sample Essay

  • 1. Describe Yourself Sample Essay Writing an essay on the topic "Describe Yourself" may seem deceptively simple at first glance, but it quickly becomes a challenging endeavor. Describing oneself requires a delicate balance between self-awareness and humility, as well as the ability to choose relevant aspects of one's personality, experiences, and achievements to highlight. The difficulty lies in presenting a genuine and comprehensive picture without veering into self-indulgence or self-deprecation. Expressing one's personality and traits in a coherent manner demands introspection and a keen understanding of one's own strengths and weaknesses. It involves navigating the fine line between confidence and arrogance, ensuring that the essay is not overly boastful while still portraying a positive self-image. Striking this balance can be a formidable task, as individuals often find it challenging to objectively evaluate their own qualities. Moreover, the challenge extends to crafting a narrative that engages the reader. It's not just about listing personal attributes but weaving them into a compelling story that reflects growth, resilience, and uniqueness. Selecting the right anecdotes and experiences to illustrate key points requires thoughtful consideration. Additionally, the pressure to stand out in a sea of similar essays further complicates the writing process. How does one distinguish oneself from countless other individuals with similar academic backgrounds or experiences? Gossip is usually established from witnessing an action that is considered a deviation from the standard behaviors within a given society. Set restraints and values produce a power dynamic and allow individuals to claim their subjecthood; this socially constructed definition of subjecthood allows people to categorize themselves within the social and political hierarchy in order to make sense of who they are, such as their sexuality. The interdictions built and created an understanding of one s subjecthood and were controlled by gossip. As a result, gossip defines what is acceptable within that society, the creation... Because they look at that place (Nedarim 20a b; Boyarin p. 110). In this interpretation of the text, the ministering angels told R. Yohanan b. Relationship Between Orthodontic And Periodontics The term synergy refers to two or more agents acting together to create an effect greater than that predicted by knowing only the separate effects of the individual agents. A desire to improve dentofacial appearance has been found to be the primary motivating factor for seeking treatment in adults. Plaque is a major etiologic factor in the development of periodontal disease. Results from past animal studies done in dentitions with reduced periodontium showed that in the absence of plaque, orthodontic forces and tooth movements do not induce gingivitis. With less contact, side reactions like polymerization are more likely to occur; polymerization reactions are a direct acid consumer. Comparing the FCCU and Coker BB, Coker BB contains far more contaminants and diluents than FCCU BB (see Table 2, pg.4). By lowering the amount of contaminants and diluents, acid consumption was reduced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The best way to decrease acid residence time is by lowering the level in the settlers. PAR has abnormally high settler levels (45 60% vs. typical 15 20%). The acid consumption impact of running at the appropriate levels in the settler is 0.15 lb /gal or 1.3 MM$/yr in savings (1.1 MM$/yr at cooling constraint and 1.3 MM$/yr at acid constraint). Process Support recommends maintaining a level of 15 20% in C and A settler and a level of 40% in B settler. B settler should be run higher than C or A because of risk of sending lighter hydrocarbons to the spent acid tank. 3.Emulsion recycle Emulsion recycle minimizes undesirable side reactions, such as polymerization, in the acid settler by keeping the olefins and alkyl sulfates (esters) in contact with isobutane. This results in improved Alkylate quality with reduced acid consumption. Process Support recommends opening all emulsion recycle valves 100%. In general, maximum acid recycle rates and minimum acid residence time promote better Alkylate product quality, and decrease the potential for polymerization. Net effect of implementing these steps is $5.3 MM$/yr due to reduced acid consumption and lower endpoint. Operations began lowering settler levels and opening acid recycle valves in February. Progress on this effort will be reported in the next bi monthly

People can become infected by eating the raw or undercooked meat of an animal infected with this worm. Bear meat and pig meat are possible sources of this infection. The severity of the illness will vary depending on the number of worms in the contaminated meat that is eaten. Once the worms are eaten, they enter the intestines and can cause symptoms. From there, the worms travel through blood vessels to other areas of the body. When worms reach the muscles, a cyst forms around the worms. The illness can range from mild to severe. In mild to moderate cases, most symptoms will go away in a few months. The infection can cause serious health problems if the worms heavily

An American writer of the 20th century and well known for writing about injustice and inequality against low income working folks that existed in his days as a kid in Harlem south of Manhattan, New York. At a young age in the 1920 s were the years of Manhattan s black renaissance (Hughes). In the poem Let America Be America Again , the speaker expressed his frustrations of African Americanwho are victims of deception regarding what American is portrayed be. Hughes also made reference to the inequality and lack of freedom that existed in the American community especially the disadvantaged multiracial, multi skill workers. Hughes wrote about the shift in what is meant by a free America as a result of greed and not living up to what it s known for, The Land of the Free . People made brave move from old world through many shores to build the now known America. The narrator however did not lose all hope. He expressed hope in a way of an oath that America will be! that America would become that land of the free, the American had dreamt it to be. What Are Respirators Are Common Today And Household Settings Respirators are defined by Merriam Webster as, a device worn over the mouth and nose to protect the respiratory tract by filtering out dangerous substances (as dusts or fumes) from inhaled air (Merriam Webster). The use of respirators are common today in both industrial and household settings. The earliest known idea for a respiratorcan be traced to Pliny the Elder over 1900 years ago. He suggested the use of wearing animal bladders to protect Roman mine workers from inhaling red oxide of lead (OSHA). The Resilience Factor is mainly targeted at working class Western culture, whereas the research of Maggie Zraly and her colleagues focuses on the vastly different people of Rwanda, who experienced a tremendously dissimilar adversity from what most people reading The Resilience Factor have or will face. However, this sharp contrast also allows us to see the universality of resilience in all of humanity, independent of culture, geography, or values. Kwihangana, the Rwandan process of drawing strength from within oneself, bears a striking resemblance to one of the techniques of putting it in perspective, in which you tell yourself that you can deal with an adversity, that you do have the strength to overcome (Reivich and ShattГ© 208). The process of ABC ing adversities also includes the essential aspect of identifying and accepting an adversity for what it is, closely related to gukomeza ubuzima, which allows Rwandans to do the same by accepting struggle and continuing to fight. Finally, the practice kwongera kubaho, which forces Rwandans to acknowledge their existential being, is closely related to part of The Resilience Factor s conclusion, which highlights the existential paradox of mortality. This paradox is what makes time precious, as we contemplate the risk of taking action while we only have one life to live (309). This relates to our resilience in that we must balance the fear of failure and pain while taking the right risks to thrive. This balance may not lay directly in The Resilience Factor, the book can help us find
  • 31. Rhetorical Analysis Of A Hanging In A Hanging, George Orwell utilizes the rhetorical appeals of pathos and ethos in historical context to convince the audience that the unjustifiable execution of a person is not only barbaric, but unethical. This is successful because of his sensitive word choice and sympathetic tone. Through his cleaver use of language techniques and word selection, Orwell evokes the reader s sympathy for the prisoners struggles. He repeatedly shows that the prisoners are treated like animals. In the opening lines of the essay, the setting is described immediately highlights the inhumane conditions in which the prisoners are contained in. We notice this when the author is describing the cells, he states, we are waiting outside the condemned cells, row of sheds fronted with double bars, like small animal cages (Orwell 93). It is evident again when he is describing the way it took six guards to escort the prisoner. He says it was like men handling a fish which is still alive and may jump out of the water (Orwell 94). The sprouting moustache, absurdly too big for his body (Orwell 93), and a puny wisp of a man (Orwell 93) suggests malnourishment and neglect among this prisoner, but the reader can infer that this treatment is spread out amongst all the prisoners. In contrast with this sickly man, he describes the prison guards as tall Indian warriors (Orwell 93) and even describes one guard in particular as a fat Dravidian (Orwell 94). The details of these well fed men in comparison to this ill man fuels a feeling of sympathy towards the prisoner. He provides these details to evoke sympathy for the prisoner to prove that killing a man is unethical. Through the appeal of pathos, we can empathize with George Orwell. Orwell never states in the essay as to why the Hindu man was to be hanged. He does not want the reader to form an opinion on whether or not the prisoner should be executed or not. Instead, he builds his essay in a way in which he directs us to a path that only argues that taking a life is wrong, no matter the crime. When he says till that moment, I had never realized what it means to destroy a healthy conscious man (Orwell 95), the reader is able to empathize with him. Before he says this, the reader

Information ethics includes the ethical and moral issues arising from the development and use of information technologies. This also includes the creation, collection, duplication, distribution, and processing of information itself with the aid of computer technologies. This paper will focus on the illegal duplication and distribution of software. There are two primary ethical areas concerning software: Pirated software and counterfeitsoftware. Pirated software is the unauthorized use, duplication, distribution, or sale of copyrighted software. Software publishers maintain ownership of the software they create and only they control the right to duplicate and distribute their products. Counterfeit software is software that is manufactured to resemble authentic software and is sold as such. This could include the illegal copying and distribution of commercial software on DVD or CD. This is typically accomplished using a CD burner. New technology has made it much easier for consumers to be deceived by counterfeiters via high quality packaging and fake products that are nearly impossible to distinguish from authentic software. Software publishers are continuously looking for ways for consumers to be able to distinguish whether they have purchased authentic or counterfeit merchandise. Many companies are attempting to

Also, a gag order originating in the Bush White House specifically prohibited American scientists from discussing the impact of the oil spills. All of this meant that cleanup efforts would be slow and that the natural recovery would take years and years. The low energy shoreline along the Saudi Arabian coast means that there are no crashing waves that could wash away oil on the beaches. Also, the shore has a naturally gentle slope, which means that high tide would wash oil all the way up the beach, impacting all the shore birds and other organisms. In fact, the recovery efforts in the area focused on desalination plants that supplied water to much of the population. Rodriguez first discusses the Canadian model of assimilation, where individuals in a mixed race culture prefer to remain ethnically and culturally separate. Rodriguez proposes that America adopts a Mexican model of assimilation, where one is classified by the culture that one adopts rather than by one s skin color. Furthermore, the Chicago Tribune implies that it is unfair for illegal immigrants to obtain the same privileges without being subject to the same responsibilities as United States citizens are subjected to. The Chicago Tribune argues that legislation allowing illegal immigrants to pay in state state tuition devalues the worth of United States citizenship by allowing illegal immigrants the privileges of citizenships without the
  • 46. The Journey Home By Allison Lester This reflective report is based on different modelled and shared approaches to determining what strategy worked best when dealing with 7 year old Elli. Different approaches were used to decide what skills needed development. Appropriate questions were we involved to establish an understanding of the child s literacylevel and perceptive. For the reading session, I have chosen The Journey home by Allison Lester (2009) this book is about two characters named Wild and Wooly, who are brother and sister. One day they decide to dig through the sand to reach the North Pole and then begin a long journey home through many magical kingdoms. I chose this book because it has a variety of different genres that will expand a student s imagination through the use of colourful images and characters. This book will further express the effectiveness of the student s thoughts and cognitive ability by imagining what will happen next. The aim of this 20 minute reading session with my 7 year old niece Elli was to learn how to use a modelled and shared reading strategy with young children and the value of modelled reading in a balanced literacy program (Tompkins, Campbell, Green Smith 2015). So I began with seating arrangements. I made sure we were seated side by side making sure the book is in her hands. I noticed she was flipping through the pages to further grasp more information about the book. So I decided to ask her the first question on my list which was, what do you think this book

Prominent Architecture of Melbourne s Federation Square Federation Square or also known as Fed Square was initially designed in 1997 through a public competition announced by former premier Jeff Kennedy, the site later opened on the 26th of October 2002. Consuming a total city block the site has an entire floor area of 38,000 sqm or 9.39 acres, positioned superbly adjacent Flinders Street Station and St. Pauls Cathedral. The initial competition phase of the project gathered vast interest from architect from around the world, a total of 177 entries was lodged while 41 of them proposals came from architects located overseas. It wasn t until July 1997 that Lab Architecture Studio (then located in London) and Bates Smart (one of Melbourne s prominent architects) was awarded the design contract for Federation Square. The stage of constructing Federation Square had seen some major challenges during the developments lifecycle; the project had seen a change in government in 2001 which inflicted changes to the proposed design of the complex to please heritage critics. As a result the projects final construction cost exceeded well above its estimated budget, the final total was approximately $467 million (AUS) which was over four times the original estimated budget. The construction stage had many complex construction methods that had to be implemented to construct the extremely unique façade and framework of the buildings, along with the sites famous Labyrinth and well know platform The Deck . Located above the railway lines

Compound Reactions Write-Up Chemistry Group I II Compound Reactions Write up Aim: To discover how the three groups of elements react with water and oxygen and the relationships and reaction similarities between the three groups. Hypothesis: As the present element used moves down in groups the substance or compound will react more readily, and groups II and III will react less readily than group I, thus dissolving slower or not at all. We are on the treacherous run to freedom, and I am eager to get there. Because of my bistered skin, I was shackled and cuffed, and forced to work in a field my whole life without my family. If all goes well tonight, I will be a free manwho makes his own decisions instead of having everything forced upon me by an austere master. It seems like we had been running for days and my feet had never felt pain this agonizing until now. We slid through the woods like a snake slithering towards its prey until we began to hear voices. They echoed through the trees and would not stop. Ducking behind opaque bushes, we waited for the signal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Steal away to Jesus! Steal away, steal away home! I ain t got long to stay here! we heard parroting through the night as we dawdled behind the bushes. This was the signal we have been waiting for our whole lives, the sweet sound of freedom. I climb out from the cover of the green bushes and lethargically begin to walk toward the altruistic woman. She stops dead in her tracks and turns around to see me, Amare, and Chiddy with our big burnt sienna eyes wide open. We are a scabrous looking group of men, covered in mauve bruises and swollen wounds cracked with dried carmine blood. What plantantation do you men come from? she asked. Butler Island, in Georgia , I reply exacerbated, for I hope to make her feel bad for us and our horrible lives of suffering at the plantation. How d y all get here alive? , she said with aversion in her voice. We barely done got here but we are luck we did , Amare croaked
  • 50. Relative Valuing Best Buy Relative Valuation According to Aswath Damodaran, relative valuation is the most widely used technique in sell side research at investment banks. Relative valuation is the concept of using multiples and comparing the value of an asset to a similar asset in the market. Purchasing a house uses concepts of relative valuation. Houses are priced by comparing other houses that have similar specification within the same neighborhood. In this section I will be valuing Best Buy using a historical relative valuation, ranking model using solver analysis, and pricing Best Buy s equity share price by discounting the PV sum of 5 years of dividends and applying a target P/E to my earnings per share forecast in 2020 to find the terminal value. • 51. The Combustion of Polymers Introduction The history of polymers stretch back millions of years. These primitive polymers were created by nature to fulfill the needs of information storage, energy storage and information reproduction. Human made polymers are a more recent invention, of the last two hundred years or so. These polymers are general made of highly flammable hydrocarbons and their derivatives. Fires caused by a combination of human careless and the physical properties of hydrocarbons have caused millions of dollars in property damage and claimed an untold number of human lives. It is this fact that has lead to scientists devoting time and resources to making polymers safer. In the following paragraphs the mechanism behind burning polymers will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This dehydrates the polymer, forming the protective carbon layer. At higher temperatures the phosphoric acid can help in the generation of cross linked species and can under go polymerization to form polyphosphates. Which react with the cross linked species to form the char layer. Borated species work the same way, they form a glassy surface that helps protect and insulate the substrate. The final pathway that will be investigated is the suppression of radical species in the reaction space. This is done by introducing halogenated hydrocarbons and an inorganic enhancer into the polymer. When the polymer burns, halogen radicals are released into the gas phase. The halogen reacts with hydrogen, to form a hydrogen halide. Finally, this species reacts with either hydrogen or oxygen radical to form hydrogen gas or water vapor, respectfully. From this series of reactions the halogen radical is regenerated, where it reacts with either the polymer substrate or more gaseous hydrogen to form hydrogen halide. The halogen radicals are at a lower energy than either the hydrogen or oxygen radical species. The effectiveness of this method is dependent on the halogen used. Bromine is the most common due to it narrow temperature activation range. Chlorine is the next most common but due to a broad temperature range is not as useful. Florine and
