American History Without A Mention Of Pennsylvania
Andrew Lee
Ms. Coulson
HIST012
December 17, 2014
Final Assessment It is nearly impossible to study American history without a mention of Pennsylvania.
The state is central in American history not only because of its location on the East Coast, but also for
the long duration of time that Europeans have inhabited Pennsylvania. Always central to early
American history, Pennsylvania was of the first American colonies, birthed many of the founding
fathers, and even housed Philadelphia, the first capital of the United States. Furthermore, Pennsylvania
had many of America s firsts, such as the first national bank and the first major road. Pennsylvania
was able to see much of the change that occurred throughout America s history and shared many ...

Penn was given 45,000 acres on the Delaware River and named it Pennsylvania, or Penn s Woods
after his father. Penn then migrated to the new land with a group of Quakers and started to build a
community. One of the many issues that early settlers like William Penn had to face was interactions
with the Natives of the New World. The differences between the Native Americans and the settling
Europeans were plentiful and great examples are conflicting religious views, social life, family values,
and sense of ownership. In fact, it was the latter that sparked multiple problems between the
colonizers and the native population. Though the European settlers would try to obtain land through
trade, the concept would be completely lost to the Native Americans, who had no sense of ownership.
Because of these differences in cultures, the groups soon clashed resulting in sorrow on both sides.
Primary Source Three is a letter by William Penn to the Native Americans who inhabit Pennsylvania.
The letter starts with the words My Friends, implying the friendly tone of the message and his desire
to coexist with the Native American population (Trent). In the first part of the letter, Penn thanks God
and credits God for his ability to come to America. This reaffirms the strong Quaker beliefs and their
thorough connotations throughout Pennsylvanian history. Penn then

In the metropolitan museum I had a great time and got a lot of knowledge. First, the visit was great as

The Great Railroad Strike Of 1877
Summary:
Crises, such as the great railroad strike of 1877, Homestead strike of 1892, Pullman strike of 1894,
and the depression of 1893 1894, were results from the rise of industrial capitalism. By 1900, America
produced one third of the world s goods. Due to this, cities became polluted and overcrowded, and
became breeding grounds for diseases like typhoid and cholera. The working situations were not much
better, with unskilled industrial laboring class, child labor, low wages, locked fire doors, and
allowance of toxic fumes in the factories; many people were disgusted by the way America s economy
grew, while its people were left in poor health.
The middle and working classes were looked down upon by the wealthy capitalistic upper class.
Muckrakers shed light on the shady business dealings the capitalistic upper class dealt in, and the
corruption of politics. The society they showed made many Americans felt as though the fundamental
principles and promises were violated. This is how progressivism was formed; a way to fix the broken
society that many Americans now suffered in.
Progressivism arose in various places from 1890 to 1917. It had many different focuses ranging from
social justice emphasis to economic and political emphasis. There were three areas the movement
wanted to reform: efforts to make the government cleaner (less corrupt and more democratic),
attempts to ameliorate the effects of industrialization and efforts to rein in corporate power.

Reflective Practice
As pointed out before, RP is a trending topic nowadays but also confusing. The ambiguity and the
overlapping use of terms complicate the understanding (hebert, tsingos 2014). Boud 1985 p.8 points
out that it is not a single facet term but a generic/umbrella one that involves a range of ideas and
activities. In order to apply the concept correctly to dental education, I will present different
definitions of related terms such as reflection, critical reflection and reflexivity. Reflective Practice
There is some consensus about the RP definition and it is generally understood as the process of
learning through and from experience towards gaining new insights of self and/or practice {Finlay,
2008 p.1}. It involves the examination of daily practical assumptions, the self awareness of the
practitioner and the critical evaluation of the own action. RP breaks the assumption that reflection
happens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This definition links feelings and cognition. It also presumes an intentional activity, or purpose
learning (Moon, Amulya date) which is in line with many definitions of reflection (Dewey, Moon).
However, reflection could be only thinking about something, and not necessary in a deeply, carefully
or purposefully way. Therefore, there is an argument for having different levels of reflection (see van
manen, hebert, mezirow), All of these suggests that critical reflection is the highest or the most
important level, and it is this that I consider next. Critical Reflection Mezirow (1990) contemplated
reflective practice and identified that there was more to reflection than simply thinking about
experiences, suggesting that critical reflection involves a critique on the assumptions on which our
beliefs and values have developed (hickson p.

The Telegraph Research Paper
The telegraph not only united the nation with access to quicker communication, it was also the
foundation for advanced technology like computers and phones. It took many physicists, inventors,
scientists, and others to do research and experiments that lead to the telegraph an invention that would
change the world forever. In the 1780s, galvanism was unintentionally discovered by Luigi Galvani
while he was doing experiments in animal physiology. Galvanism is an electric current made when
two metals and a moist environment come into contact. Hans Christian Oersted made a discovery that
a magnetized needle could be moved by an electric current. This was an important step toward the
telegraph by varying the current with electromagnets, a message could be sent through a wire!
William ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He developed a telegraph that could send signals for over a mile. William F. Cooke and Charles
Wheatstone constructed a telegraph that used 5 needles and 5 wires, then 2 needles and wires, and
finally one needle and wire. The first practical telegraph, however, was made in 1837 by Samuel F. B.
Morse. The making of his telegraph was thanks to all the research that took place for over decades. In
November of 1832, Morse built his first model of the telegraph. The telegraph used a portrule to turn
the electric current s flow on and off. His original code was number sequences each particular
sequence representing a word. By 1835, his improved model was larger and on it was a small picture
frame that held a pencil. The electromagnets would move the pencil to make dots and dashes on paper
tape. A dot would be made by a smaller amount of electric current, while a dash is a larger amount.
Morse started working with Leonard Gale, a chemistry professor, in 1836. Gale helped to upgrade the
electromagnet and battery to allow messages to be sent farther. On Sep. 2,

Rita Charon Listening Theory
In narrative medicine, Dr. Rita Charon asserts that, physical medicine such as, antibiotics, pills, and
other medicine individuals can physical take, can cause the patient to self diagnose their selves.
Although, these medicine are supposed to heal, Dr. Charon reveals the genuine way to heal a patient.
Most of the time when a patient goes to see their doctor, they are slightly afraid. Many doctors just
state to the patients what s wrong with their body, rather the patient telling the doctor what s wrong
with their own body. With the doctors doing that, this allows a disconnected feeling from the patient
towards the doctor. Dr. Charon wants doctors to realize the art of listening and gaining a strong
connection with the patient and not just brushing them off, which leads to more sickness and pain.
Actually listening to the patient can be medicine for them. Additionally, in one American Greetings
card it argues that, with peace, quietness, and calmness the healing ... Show more content on

Both the card and Dr. Charon can be a healing to the patient and House. When House applied Dr.
Charon listening theory to his case it opened up positive things for him and the patient. House and the
patient both needed someone to listen to their story. With the patient being sexually assaulted, House
did not want to have his hands on a case like this. Dr. Charon believes that your identity can be shown
by your autobiography. By House being a doctor and not wanting to be on the same level as his
patient, it creates major conflict between the two. All the patient wanted was peace, calmness, and
someone to talk to. With House finally coming down to his patient s level and connecting with her as a
person and not just a patient, it allows not only the patient to feel comfort but also House to have that
same comfort feeling. This is beautiful in Charon s eyes. House listened for stories versus listening to
stories and ended up with peace, quiet, and

Tips on how to Sell Your House When the Company Leaves Town
With a lot of major firms in the U.S.A transferring from little communities to huge markets, should
small town property owners worry about house values?
Looking at the current state of the U.S. real estate market, the discussion quickly turns to traditionally
reduced inventories, increasing sale prices and insufficient building and construction to meet demand.
But that s not the entire story. Outside primary metropolitan areas, when a large employer closes down
or relocates to a large metropolitan area, it tends to leave collateral damage in its wake. Populations
decrease as citizens move elsewhere for work, property values can fall due to the decline in demand

most significant segment in between $120,000 and $150,000.
A city that has already experienced this shift is Paducah, Kentucky. The tiny city dropped a significant
employer in 2013 when the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant shut down. The plant generated enriched
uranium for nuclear reactors starting in the 1950s.
Located along the Ohio River in western Kentucky, Paducah has a population just over 25,000. While
the population has consistently declined from its peak of just over 34,000 residents in 1960, local area
Realtor Ben Sirk, owner of real estate firm Sirk Company, says Paducah has handled to prevent a lot
of the mass exodus regular of a small town that loses a primary employer. The prime river area

shipping industry is the most significant source of work. As a result, whilst property sales experienced
some aftereffects from the plant closure, Sirk says the market place has since normalized, and median
house values continue to increase year to year.

Essay on History of Rumba, Merengue and Salsa
According to Holger Henke in his The West Indian Americans, Jamaican Rex Nettleford was correct
when he said, dance was a primary instrument of survival . As such a vital part of cultural traditions,
dance plays and integral role in the history culture. Three of the most influential styles of dance in the
Caribbean are the Rumba, The Merengue, and the Salsa. The word Rumba is defined by the Merriam
Webster Dictionary as a ballroom dance of Haitian and Dominican origin in 2/4 time in which one
foot is dragged on every step. Here, however, Rumba is a collection of percussive rhythms, song and
dance that originated in Cuba as a combination of the musical traditions of Africans brought to Cuba
as slaves and Spanish colonizers. The term ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What we know today as Ballroom Rumba is basically son and not based on the authentic folk rumba.
The first serious attempt to introduce the rumba to the United States was in 1913 but real interest in
Latin music began about 1929. In the late 1920 s, Xavier Cugat formed an orchestra that specialized in
Latin American music and opened at the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles and later played at the
Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. By the end of the decade he was recognized as having the
outstanding Latin orchestra of the day. Monsieur Pierre was London s leading teacher of the Rumba
and in 1955 he and his partner, Doris Lavelle, introduced the true Cuban Rumba which was finally
established after much argument, as the official recognized version in 1955.
During this time, the intellectual movement known as Afrocubanismo, a sort of mass relization of the
value of African culture (especially in the Caribbean), gave roots to traditional rumba. When this
afrocubanismo movement came along, it helped open the doors to African rooted dancing and ways of
expression. Rumba became more accepted among Cubans and was a recognized cultural expression
that identified as a part of the Cuban people. It also provided the means at that point of public
expression for those without representation in the media, the Afro Cubans.
Today, Rumba is most commonly performed informally and can be broken down into three types:

The Quranic And Biblical Story Of Adam And Eve
Kody Ayers
3/11/2015
The Quranic and Biblical Story of Adam and Eve Christianity and Islam are similar in many beliefs
and have many intersecting histories. These beliefs include major points such as a God and ancient
prophets. However, Islam and Christianity vary significantly between their religious written works.
These works are the Bible and the Qur an. The compilation of both in their respective religions
however do point back to God. God being the omnipotent deity in which these religions believe in. It
should be mentioned that although both religions have a God , that does not mean it is the same God.
There are key differences in beliefs, culture and history between the two. These two religions are
considered Abrahamic religions. Therefore they share a similar past and their records talk about
similar topics and events that transpired in the past. To help distinguish some key points of the two
religions, one can compare the works of them, regarding the past. This essay will compare and
contrast the same story of Adam and Eve in the Qur an and Bible and discuss various key points from
both and how that applies to elements of its religion. In the Bible, on the sixth day of creation, God
created all the land animals and humans. God created man in his own image. In the bible he formed
man and breathed life into him. This first human was named Adam. After Adam, God created Eve. It
is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him. (Genesis

Law 421 Contracts
Contracts
Contracts are an important part of everyday life. They are an essential part of business. As a student of
a business law class, I will discuss in this paper several aspects of contracts. This paper will give a
definition of a contract and the essential elements necessary to form a valid contract. It will briefly
discuss breach of contract and the difference between a material breach and a nonmaterial breach of
contract. Examples of legal and equitable remedies available for breach of contracts will be
highlighted. Also, legal excuses for nonperformance or other grounds for discharge of contracts will
be addressed. Finally, three types of common contracts personally and professionally encountered will
be mentioned.
A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contracts can be discharged by complete performance or material non performance of the contractual
duty. For example: A contractor does not do any work promised on a bathroom, or almost none, then
the homeowner does not owe him anything. Therefore, the homeowner the non breaching party is
discharged and the contractor is liable for the breach of contract (lectriclaw, 2012). A cancellation can
be effected if one party breaches the contract, or a termination can occur when either party lawfully
ends the contract for anything other than a breach. In this case, all executor duties are discharged on
both sides but in the event of a partial breach, there is still a right to seek a remedy (lectriclaw, 2012).
Procedures dealing with all aspects of contracts are a part of everyday transactions and can affect
every individual on one level or another.
In everyday living, contracts can be a basic part of individual life. On a personal level, there are
several types of contracts that have been encountered. These contracts are life, health, and automobile
insurance that is a benefit for the person insured in case something happens such as a death, a hospital
stay or a car accident. Also, there are employment contracts that are signed when one accepts a job
such as an employment application, and service contracts such as contractors performing work on my

Subcultures And Its Influence On Contemporary Society
Historically, subcultures found its definition originating in the early 1800s, with examples such as
bohemia and another example(ref). Whether subcultures still have an identifiable existence in today s
contemporary society is contentious pertaining to its difficulty in actual measurement. It is important
to look from a historical perspective at the features that define a subculture, and gives it the unique
identity that constitutes some discernible traits that differ from conventional society. This is to say that
the traits that make the subculture are not singular in their form, for they can be both abstract and
material. It is the intent of this essay to highlight such features and question if subcultures as a term,
should still be applicable in contemporary society. From Teddy Boys, mods and rockers, hells angels
to punks and even modern day terms for groups such as chavs, subcultures have throughout history
attempted to identify themselves from what is considered societies definition of normal (ref). This
form of indifference against the majority agreed upon social construction of society, is expressed in a
multitude of ways. The social constriction that minority groups feel in the respect of class
stratification, cultural, political, and religious beliefs result in sense of being ostracized (ref). Through
this constraint, the expression of subcultures emerges in the manifestation of unique socially
constructed ideas and beliefs. This typically goes hand in hand with

Essay on The Effect of God on Robinson Crusoe
It has been observed that when placed in harsh or unusual conditions, people tend to look to spiritual
support to help them overcome adversity. In Robinson Crusoe, Daniel Defoe not only depicts the
struggle of a man abandoned on a deserted island, but also depicts Crusoe s repentance for past
disobedience against his father and humanity as well as his acceptance of religion into his life. Crusoe
s religious beliefs, however, do not remain consistent; in fact, he later uses religion as a justification
for murder and other immoral acts. Crusoe accepts religion into his life, repenting for his sins
throughout the novel, however his faith is not genuine, only becoming strong when he experiences
misfortunes.

30th of Sept. 1659 (Defoe 61) as opposed to a tribute to God or Christ. Next, in his journal, Crusoe
begins to relieve himself by listing both the good and evil of his situation. Crusoe confronted with
tragedy quickly takes religion into his life, but once again the sincerity in his beliefs can easily be
questioned by the reader. Additionally, once Crusoe is settled into his life on the island, he forgets his
commitment to religion until he becomes deathly ill. In his journal he writes Very ill, frighted almost
to death with the apprehension of my sad condition ... Prayed to God for the first time since the storm

of illness he cries out for God to pity and have mercy on him. After waking up feeling better, but
thirsty, Crusoe lies in bed and falls back to sleep. While asleep, Crusoe experiences a vision of a man
descending from the clouds. The apparition approaches Crusoe, saying Seeing all these things have
not brought thee to repentance, now thou shalt die (Defoe 85). Crusoe finally realizes all the
wickedness in his life, such as disobeying his father and participating in the slave trade for his own
profit. While suffering in sickness for another day, at last

Ncfe Teaching Assistant Essay
The primary objective of a teaching assistant is to support the school by carrying out a variety of tasks
in order to create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment thus allowing teachers more time
to focus on teaching. It is therefore paramount to remain flexible at all times. The purpose of this essay
is to summarise the major learning points from the Teaching Assistant Diploma Course. I will address
the nine subject areas separately.
Supporting the teacher Teachers are incredibly busy and the teaching assistant is a valued asset to

Unlike physical development that is visual, a child s social and emotional development is also
generalised according to age but can t be seen. Every child is unique and for that reason although
general milestones can be used as a guide to expectation, it must be remembered that each child will
develop at his/ her own pace.
The brain development of a child can be seriously affected by their well being during the early years.
Genetic illness, social/ economic factors, culture and influence of carers, stress and harm caused by
lack of stimulation, engagement and positive relationships can all influence development.
Signs such as behavioural problems, low self esteem, apprehension, lack of concentration and
attention seeking could all be signs of emotional distress. In order to support the pupil, teaching
assistants need to have strategies to cope with pupils displaying such symptoms. Schools need to
provide a safe, positive, supporting environment with equal emphasis on pastoral care as much as
academics.
Pupils should be encouraged to strive for independence and take responsibility for their actions and
learning. This may be through input into rules, choices regarding behaviour, or identification of
success criteria and evaluation of learning.
The classroom provides opportunity for self expression in a variety of curriculum areas. The teaching
assistant should support

Reading The World Ideas That Matter Ethos Pathos Logos
In the book Reading the World Ideas that Matter explains how there are three moderns of persuasion
which are; ethos, pathos, and logos. Aristotle states that ethos is more about communicating with your
audience. An ethos speaker would use such as, changing their tone of voice, physical appearance and
comforting an audience. Credibility, authority and reliable describe an ethos point of view. Michael
Austin gives us four ways to create a good ethos in writing; First, establish your credibility, as you
explained to the audience why are you giving them your opinion. Secondly, be generous to others
points of view, avoid disrespecting the audience. Third do not show off, always make sure you point
out the facts that are relevant to the argument. Avoid being overbearing, what Austin meant by that is

Sometimes pathos can be manipulative, but if its use correctly it can help you connect with the reader
and exemplify the emotional piece of a topic. Pathos emphases on emotion, imagination and
sympathy. In the book, Austin gave us a list that can be used as emotional appeals, sympathy, fear,
anger, belonging and pride/vanity. Logos is more about logic and reason, according to Aristotle. Logic

In the first video, Drunk History Claudette Colvin and Rosa Parks are using ethos, because they are

The Effects Of Climate Change On Earth
In another matter, this is not the first time that climate change has affected the planet in the past there
were many problems to the earth millions of years ago. There were five major ice ages from the
longest and first scientists believe occurred was two point four to two point one billion years ago
during the early Proterozoic Eon there was an ice age formed and it was the Huronian. The second ice
age was the cryogenian and it has been known that it produced a snowball earth in which permanent
sea ice extended to or very near the earth s equator; this period occurred from eight hundred and fifty
to six hundred and thirty million years ago. The third ice age that occurred was the Andean Saharan it

Scientists believe the possible causes of the medieval warm period were increase in solar activity,
decrease volcanic activity, and change to ocean circulation. After the medieval ended what followed
was the little ice age; the little ice age is a period between the thirteen hundreds to the eighteen
seventies. During this time Europe and North America were subjected to a much colder winters than
during the 20th century. Scientists believe the cause of this period was cyclical lows in solar radiation,
heightened volcanic activity, changes in the ocean circulation, variations in earth s orbit, and axial tilt,
inherent variability in global climate and decrease in the human population these just the few reasons
why the little ice age was formed.
Climate change has caused many problems to humans and ironically the cause of it are humans them
selves. One of the major problems that climate changed has caused is food crisis; hotter temperatures
will severely diminish the world s ability to grow crops and feed humanity and other animals. The
effects of major heat waves recorded in the past were very excruciating like the one in Western Europe
during the summer of 2003 which hunted the crop yield deeply. Also in 2003 Italy was affected by a
big heat wave where a maze yield feel by 36%. These are major signs that humans won t have any
thing to feed themselves in several years if this damaging global warming continues.

Masks In Ancient Greek Mythology
Elektra, who plotted a revenge with her brother Orestes against their mother Clytemnestra and
stepfather Aegisthus for the murder of their father Agamemnon, is a very significant and complex
character in ancient Greek mythology. In the opera Elektra by Richard Strauss and Hugo von
Hofmannsthal, there are some distinct stylistic features from Classical Greek theater. They are masks,
customs and chorus. In ancient Greek theater, masks are significant element in ceremony and
celebration. Greeks believed that the way in which the mask was to melt into the face and allow the
actor to vanish into the role. In the opera Elektra we watched, all the character were maked up with
exaggerated colors and style, which looked like masks on actors

Runway Description Of Runway Lighting
Runway lighting. Runway lighting is composed of several different types of lighting, with specific
colors and positions on the runway, conveying vital information to the pilot during night operations, or
operations during low visibility. Some airports will have Runway End Identifier Lights, which provide
positive identification of the approach end of the runway. These lights are located on each side of the
runway threshold, consist of a pair of synchronized flashing lights, and may be unidirectional facing
the approach area or omnidirectional. Runway Edge Lights are white lights used to mark the edges of
the runway. Used for night or low visibility operations, these lights are classified as high, medium, or
low intensity lights. On instrument runways, amber lights are used on the last half of the runway, or
2,000 feet, whichever is less, with red lights marking the end of the runway. Touchdown Zone Lights
are flush lights that consist of two rows of lights on either side of the runway center line that designate
the desired touchdown area of the runway. Runway Centerline Lights consist of a single row of white
lights, beginning 75 feet from the landing threshold, spaced at 50 foot intervals, and run the length of
the centerline of the runway. Taxiway Turnoff Lights are installed on some precision runways, they
consist of flush lights which emit a steady green color, and designate where taxiways intersect the
runway ( Airport Operations, n.d.). Taxiway lighting. As with

The Pearl
Steinbeck quoted in one of his novels, A story has many versions as it has readers. Everyone takes
what he wants or can from it and thus changes it to his measure. Some pick out parts and reject the
rest, some strain the story through their mesh of prejudice, some paint it with their own delight. His
quote explains how each reader depicts the novel into their own understanding. John Ernst Steinbeck,
an American novelist, is the author of the novella, The Pearl, published in 1947. The three main
characters in The Pearl are Kino, Juana, and their baby, Coyotito. The Pearl is the story of Kino, a
young Native American man, who finds a magnificent pearl, is greedy when trying to sell the pearl for

Kino and Juana hear the Song of the Family when they are at peace and trying to protect their family.
Family is idolized by its warmth and safety throughout the novella. In the beginning of The Pearl,
Kino protects his family above all else and does this in an animalistic way. Family is closely tied
together to gender roles in the text, since the duty of the mother and father, husband and wife are an
important part of identity. The narrator explained, Kino heard the creak of the rope when Juana took
Coyotito out of his hanging box and cleaned him and hammocked him in her shawl in a loop that
placed him close to her breast. Kino could see these things without looking at them. Juana sang softly
an ancient song that had only three notes and yet endlessly variety of interval. And this was part of the
family song too...aching chord that caught the throat, saying this is safety, this is warmth, this is the
Whole (Steinbeck 9). Juana s song has three notes to represent the three members of her and Kino s
family. When Coyotito dies, the entire family is completely destroyed: what is left is no longer whole.
While the pearl sparks greed in people s hearts the purity of the family is in danger. The love of family
is real and not dependent on monetary value. The greed associated with the pearl blinds Kino s eyes to

types of place, manner and voicing.
Introduction: According to the article, there is documentation that there are early intervention
programs out in the world. The congress, of 1986, encouraged others to design early intervention for
toddlers and infants with disabilities. There is (1/4) of children in the world that qualify for early
interventions and demonstrate some type of communication disorder. There are many other studies
that have been done that concluded there is little known about the effectiveness of treatments on
toddlers with cleft palate who enrolled in early intervention services. According to Blakeley and
Brockman (1995), they described 41 children that do have cleft palate who enrolled in 4 year
treatment plan at the age of 12 months. 66% of the children also received articulation therapy from an
SLP. The results showed 93% of them showed normal articulation by age 5 and 88% had normal
expressive language also by the age of 5.
Early intervention helps children, with delays, in speech sound development and expressive language
focus on the extending of the child s lexical development. Lexical development refers to stages or
steps in a process involving change. One primary therapy goal would be SLP s expanding the client s
consonant inventory, of early intervention. In the method

The Problem With Illegal Aliens
Introduction Despite the multiple laws and policies that were implemented in the United States, there
is still a problem with illegal aliens or immigrants. The U.S. government has spent millions of dollars
to secure our southern border but, with that being said, the government has charged the Department of
Homeland Security to create and implement new and innovative ways to justify and solidify those
polices. In this case study, there will be a focus and analytical approach to three of the main issues
which continue to surface on immigration enforcement. These issues are: who is an illegal alien; who
can detain illegal aliens; and when can they be deported?

of using fraudulent documents to obtain their jobs, the newspaper said (Savage, 2009). This situation
along with many others lead to the demise of the company many years later. Many illegal aliens

Who can detain illegal aliens? Any law enforcement branch including the Department of Homeland

person seeking illegal entry into the U.S. This Act was passed by congress and is the main law that
legislates and regulates immigration. This authority is prescribed by the Secretary of DHS to all law

Description Of Social Class On Someone s Life Dramatically
Description of Social Class Social status or placement can impact someone s life dramatically. Social
class determines where people will live, how well educated they may be, their occupation, their
physical health, their mental health, the forms of recreation they enjoy, their social networks, their
political views, their attitudes toward childrearing, and how long they may live. (Vissing, 2011) It also
plays a big role in how people view themselves, as well as how others view them. Social class can also
play a role in the potential of how successful someone can be. Class is a large group of people who
share common economic resources that influence the kind of lifestyle they are able to live. (Giddens,

It provided data on how often gender, race, and social class inequalities were discussed in the
classroom and textbooks. While gender stratification was discussed the most, it was clear that all types
of social stratification still exist today. 59 percent of the gender and socialization citations directed the
readers to the inequality sections of the textbook, particularly the gender chapter. This suggests that
socialization plays more of an explanatory role in gender inequality in introductory textbooks than it
does for race or class. (Puentes, Gougherty 163) If this information was not available in textbooks or
discussed in classrooms, then you could go as far to say that social stratification did not exist. Another
article I researched talked about how most authors focused on gender rather than social class. There is
a significant lack of information pertaining to social class and a greater emphasis on gender. However,
differences in socialization by class were not used to explain class inequality or the reproduction of the
class structure; instead, the focus tended to be on the uneven distribution of economic resources and
opportunities. When class socialization was discussed, it was likely to be several paragraphs instead of
the several pages that were devoted to gender socialization in the gender chapters. (Puentes,
Gougherty 164)

Marriott Group Pricing Optimizer Essay
Marriot Group Pricing Optimizer
Revenue management has been a system long used by the airline industry to optimize revenue on
airline routes. Marriott implemented their own revenue management One Yield system twenty years
ago to optimize individual guest room rates and allocation. One Yield is used in 97 percent of Marriott
s 3,300 hotels in 70 different countries to handle over 75 million individual guest room transactions
per year. Recently, Marriott decided to move from One Yield to Total Yield so its revenue
management system would include all revenue generation instead of just individual guest rooms. To

The constraints would be the bookings, inventory, inventory rates and the already allocated rooms.
Since One Yield works in a real time setting these constraints would change day to day to maximize
profit. More complicated scenarios when groups and catering events are incorporated in the formula
would require large complicated decision trees or programs such as QM for Windows.
Deciding whether to use a room for an individual or as part of a group could be a large decision tree,
but the probabilities of renting out the room would need to be decided. Deciding on the probabilities
of renting a room to an individual guest that gets the best return is a complicated procedure, which is
why a computer program would be best utilized. This step is the most complicated one. Marriot had to
decide what ultimate factors should be used to price a room. This info was not revealed in the case
because it is proprietary and has increased profit for Marriott by $120 million since its inception.
Total Yield does an excellent job analyzing pricing for current hotels and is able incorporate a lot of
different customer types. Marriott has been using for One Yield for twenty years and Total Yield was
just rolled out a couple years ago so the amount of individual data vs. group data is staggering. As
Marriott moves forward and tweaks any problems that Total Yield has, the amount of group data is

The Design Of The Hardware
The selection of the hardware is a very critical part of the hardware implementation of the project; the
selector must know the pros and cons on the design of each component that is being used. The
selection can lead to the failure or success of the project. Therefore, special attention is required to the
selection process and it was discussed with the specialist of the electrical and mechanical engineering
fields to be on safe side. The main components of the system that are used in this project are as

It includes a motor controller. The function of the motor controller is to convert the DC into AC.
Mechanically, these motors have simpler design than the other types of the DC motor as there is no
requirement of transferring power to the spinning rotor from the outside of the motor. The position of
the rotor is sensed by the control of a Hall Effect sensor or any other such device to optimize torque
and regulate speed. Advantages Advantages of the Brushless DC motor are their long life, better
efficiency, and high RPM with no maintenance required. Disadvantages The design of the controllers
for these types of the motors is a bit more complex and they have relatively higher initial cost. These
are the only disadvantages of the Brushless DC motor. 2. Brushed DC motors: The generation of the
torque in the brushed DC motors is coming directly from the DC power. The internal commutation
and the magnets that are stationary (magnets can be permanent or electromagnet) supply the power to
the motor to generate the torque. These motors include carbon brushes to transfer the power to the
rotating shaft. Advantages The cost required for a brushed DC motor is relatively low compared to
other DC motors. These are highly reliable and have very simpler and basic type to control the motor.
Disadvantages The major disadvantages of this type of motor include a shorter life span

1.1 BACKGROUND Energy is the key determinant of economic development and prosperity of the
society s quality of life. The human civilization started with the historic revolutionary invention of
fuel energy which today has become a universal concern. Energy plays a vital role in human
development and welfare, since all the important economic activities of present civilization are
dependent on availability and level of consumption of energy (Rajgopal and Mishra, 1994). Energy is
considered to be the life line of an economy, the most vital instrument of socio economic development
and has been recognized as one of the most important strategic commodities (Sahir and Qureshi,
2007). Energy is not only essential for the economy but its supply is uncertain (Zaleski, 2001). Energy
is a strategic source that influenced the outcome of wars, fueled and strangled economic development
and polluted as well as clean up the environment. Energy in the layman s language is often
synonymous with strength or force or better still fuels. In technical terms, energy is that thing that can
be used to produce work. Fuels and materials that ignite at moderate temperature burn with
comparative rapidity and are obtainable in quantities of reasonable prices (William and Pinto, 2000.)
Energy sources can also be classified as renewable and non renewable forms. Renewable forms
include; fuel, wood, solar energy, biogas and crop residue, while non renewable forms are mainly
petroleum products such as;

purchases from both businesses as well as other consumers where payments are made through various
options. For information system to flourish there is a need to have the necessary infrastructure and the
requisite technology to facilitate any technological platform. On the other hand, the platform requires
an information system in order to run smoothly.
Introduction
An information system is an integral part in any business in enhancing the development of new
products as well as services and the innovation of business models. It is also significant in the decision
making process and the development of business networks and relations. Additionally information
systems are critical in the enhancement of business efficiency in operations that is important in
creating a competitive advantage. There are different information systems which differ with their
purpose and type of industry as well as different levels of management that use them.

Trumpets blaring, bass booming, heads swaying to the beat in a tiny jazz club. Creativity is flowing
and the Beat Poets of the 1950s are unknowingly establishing a counterculture movement, one that
challenges the social norms and politics of their time and even transcends generations to remain

Ginsberg were heavily influenced by jazz, adopting their seedy dress, manners, and hip vocabulary (
Beat Movement ) that changed their lifestyle and helped write their poetry. Specifically, Allen
Ginsberg s poem Howl, is often regarded as the anthem of 1950s Beats ( Howl | Poem by Ginsberg ), a
poem unstructured and free flowing to reflect Ginsberg s experiences. In Howl, Allen Ginsberg uses
unique language and changes his tone throughout the poem in an attempt to break the constraints of

Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife Refuge
Near the small town of San Antonio, NM is a spectacular display of one of nature s finest balanced
beauty and wilderness paradise, Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, situated on the northern
edge of the Chihuahuan desert and straddling the Rio Grande. Fitting is the name Bosque del Apache,
meaning woods of the Apache, a reminder of the Apache peoples of long ago who lived along the Rio
Grande. The 57,331 acre refuge was established in 1939 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, an
effort aimed to preserve the area as a wildlife habitat. The nucleus of the refuge is 7,000 acres of flood
plain, an extensive area of wetlands and farmlands. Arid foothills and towering mesas ascend to the
Chupadera Mountains and the San Pascual Mountains, giving shape to a landscape that captivates.
Remnants of a lost civilization are evident in the petroglyphs in the region, along with stone tools and
other artifacts. The Piro Indians that lived in the valley at least 700 years ago, hunted, fished, and

The First Path Of Formation Of The Kazakh Diaspora
Repression was blown to frightening enormous proportions. Repressions even reached the traditional
knowledge holders Kazakh shamans baksi , which J. Assmann calls special carriers of cultural
memory [13].
During this period, the trend of migration had been strengthened, and about a million ethnic Kazakhs
was forced to migrate from their historic homeland to neighboring countries. It was the first path of
formation of the Kazakh Diaspora, but there was also a second way: creation of state borders
separated part of the kazakh people and made it difficult to communicate with the main ethnic masses
[14], this process in science is called irredentism [15]. Thus, in the second half of the XIX century
after the establishment of the Russian Chinese border part of Kazakhs who had been wintering in the
former Qing Empire territory was in the allegiance of China. Subsequently, in 1916 after the
suppression of the anti colonial rebellion in 1932 1934. During dispossession, collectivisation and
famine some Kazakh tribes migrated from Kazakhstan to Xinjiang and took Chinese citizenship [16].
The main concentration of the Kazakh migrant fell on Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Turkey,
Mongolia and China.

A time management system is a designed combination of processes, tools, techniques, and methods.
Usually time management is a necessity in any project development as it determines the project
completion time and scope.
In business, time management has morphed into everything from methodologies such as Enterprise
Resource Planning through consultant services such as Professional Organizers. When we think of
time management, however, we tend to think of personal time management, loosely defined as
managing our time to waste less time on doing the things we have to do so we have more time to do
the things we want to do. Therefore, time management is often thought of or presented as a set of time
management skills; the theory is that once we master the time management skills, we ll be more
organized, efficient, and happier. There are an abundance of books, classes, workshops, day planners,
and seminars on time management, which teach individuals and corporations how to be more
organized and more productive. Time management has become crucial in recent years thanks to the
24/7, busy world in which we live.
Time management is important for everyone. While time management books and seminars often place
their focus on business leaders and corporations, time management is also crucial for students,
teachers, factory workers, professionals, and home makers. Time management is perhaps most

  • 3. American History Without A Mention Of Pennsylvania Andrew Lee Ms. Coulson HIST012 December 17, 2014 Final Assessment It is nearly impossible to study American history without a mention of Pennsylvania. The state is central in American history not only because of its location on the East Coast, but also for the long duration of time that Europeans have inhabited Pennsylvania. Always central to early American history, Pennsylvania was of the first American colonies, birthed many of the founding fathers, and even housed Philadelphia, the first capital of the United States. Furthermore, Pennsylvania had many of America s firsts, such as the first national bank and the first major road. Pennsylvania was able to see much of the change that occurred throughout America s history and shared many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Penn was given 45,000 acres on the Delaware River and named it Pennsylvania, or Penn s Woods after his father. Penn then migrated to the new land with a group of Quakers and started to build a community. One of the many issues that early settlers like William Penn had to face was interactions with the Natives of the New World. The differences between the Native Americans and the settling Europeans were plentiful and great examples are conflicting religious views, social life, family values, and sense of ownership. In fact, it was the latter that sparked multiple problems between the colonizers and the native population. Though the European settlers would try to obtain land through trade, the concept would be completely lost to the Native Americans, who had no sense of ownership. Because of these differences in cultures, the groups soon clashed resulting in sorrow on both sides. Primary Source Three is a letter by William Penn to the Native Americans who inhabit Pennsylvania. The letter starts with the words My Friends, implying the friendly tone of the message and his desire to coexist with the Native American population (Trent). In the first part of the letter, Penn thanks God and credits God for his ability to come to America. This reaffirms the strong Quaker beliefs and their thorough connotations throughout Pennsylvanian history. Penn then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Great Railroad Strike Of 1877 Summary: Crises, such as the great railroad strike of 1877, Homestead strike of 1892, Pullman strike of 1894, and the depression of 1893 1894, were results from the rise of industrial capitalism. By 1900, America produced one third of the world s goods. Due to this, cities became polluted and overcrowded, and became breeding grounds for diseases like typhoid and cholera. The working situations were not much better, with unskilled industrial laboring class, child labor, low wages, locked fire doors, and allowance of toxic fumes in the factories; many people were disgusted by the way America s economy grew, while its people were left in poor health. The middle and working classes were looked down upon by the wealthy capitalistic upper class. Muckrakers shed light on the shady business dealings the capitalistic upper class dealt in, and the corruption of politics. The society they showed made many Americans felt as though the fundamental principles and promises were violated. This is how progressivism was formed; a way to fix the broken society that many Americans now suffered in. Progressivism arose in various places from 1890 to 1917. It had many different focuses ranging from social justice emphasis to economic and political emphasis. There were three areas the movement wanted to reform: efforts to make the government cleaner (less corrupt and more democratic), attempts to ameliorate the effects of industrialization and efforts to rein in corporate power. • 6. Reflective Practice As pointed out before, RP is a trending topic nowadays but also confusing. The ambiguity and the overlapping use of terms complicate the understanding (hebert, tsingos 2014). Boud 1985 p.8 points out that it is not a single facet term but a generic/umbrella one that involves a range of ideas and activities. In order to apply the concept correctly to dental education, I will present different definitions of related terms such as reflection, critical reflection and reflexivity. Reflective Practice There is some consensus about the RP definition and it is generally understood as the process of learning through and from experience towards gaining new insights of self and/or practice {Finlay, 2008 p.1}. It involves the examination of daily practical assumptions, the self awareness of the practitioner and the critical evaluation of the own action. RP breaks the assumption that reflection happens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This definition links feelings and cognition. It also presumes an intentional activity, or purpose learning (Moon, Amulya date) which is in line with many definitions of reflection (Dewey, Moon). However, reflection could be only thinking about something, and not necessary in a deeply, carefully or purposefully way. Therefore, there is an argument for having different levels of reflection (see van manen, hebert, mezirow), All of these suggests that critical reflection is the highest or the most important level, and it is this that I consider next. Critical Reflection Mezirow (1990) contemplated reflective practice and identified that there was more to reflection than simply thinking about experiences, suggesting that critical reflection involves a critique on the assumptions on which our beliefs and values have developed (hickson p. ... • 7. The Telegraph Research Paper The telegraph not only united the nation with access to quicker communication, it was also the foundation for advanced technology like computers and phones. It took many physicists, inventors, scientists, and others to do research and experiments that lead to the telegraph an invention that would change the world forever. In the 1780s, galvanism was unintentionally discovered by Luigi Galvani while he was doing experiments in animal physiology. Galvanism is an electric current made when two metals and a moist environment come into contact. Hans Christian Oersted made a discovery that a magnetized needle could be moved by an electric current. This was an important step toward the telegraph by varying the current with electromagnets, a message could be sent through a wire! William ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He developed a telegraph that could send signals for over a mile. William F. Cooke and Charles Wheatstone constructed a telegraph that used 5 needles and 5 wires, then 2 needles and wires, and finally one needle and wire. The first practical telegraph, however, was made in 1837 by Samuel F. B. Morse. The making of his telegraph was thanks to all the research that took place for over decades. In November of 1832, Morse built his first model of the telegraph. The telegraph used a portrule to turn the electric current s flow on and off. His original code was number sequences each particular sequence representing a word. By 1835, his improved model was larger and on it was a small picture frame that held a pencil. The electromagnets would move the pencil to make dots and dashes on paper tape. A dot would be made by a smaller amount of electric current, while a dash is a larger amount. Morse started working with Leonard Gale, a chemistry professor, in 1836. Gale helped to upgrade the electromagnet and battery to allow messages to be sent farther. On Sep. 2, ... Although, these medicine are supposed to heal, Dr. Charon reveals the genuine way to heal a patient. Most of the time when a patient goes to see their doctor, they are slightly afraid. Many doctors just state to the patients what s wrong with their body, rather the patient telling the doctor what s wrong with their own body. With the doctors doing that, this allows a disconnected feeling from the patient towards the doctor. Dr. Charon wants doctors to realize the art of listening and gaining a strong connection with the patient and not just brushing them off, which leads to more sickness and pain. The first serious attempt to introduce the rumba to the United States was in 1913 but real interest in Latin music began about 1929. In the late 1920 s, Xavier Cugat formed an orchestra that specialized in Latin American music and opened at the Coconut Grove in Los Angeles and later played at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. By the end of the decade he was recognized as having the outstanding Latin orchestra of the day. When this afrocubanismo movement came along, it helped open the doors to African rooted dancing and ways of expression. Rumba became more accepted among Cubans and was a recognized cultural expression that identified as a part of the Cuban people. To develop this system, Marriott created a proprietary Group Pricing Optimizer (GPO) to help hotel managers decide on what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The constraints would be the bookings, inventory, inventory rates and the already allocated rooms. Since One Yield works in a real time setting these constraints would change day to day to maximize profit. More complicated scenarios when groups and catering events are incorporated in the formula would require large complicated decision trees or programs such as QM for Windows. Deciding whether to use a room for an individual or as part of a group could be a large decision tree, but the probabilities of renting out the room would need to be decided. Deciding on the probabilities of renting a room to an individual guest that gets the best return is a complicated procedure, which is why a computer program would be best utilized. This step is the most complicated one. Marriot had to decide what ultimate factors should be used to price a room. This info was not revealed in the case because it is proprietary and has increased profit for Marriott by $120 million since its inception. Total Yield does an excellent job analyzing pricing for current hotels and is able incorporate a lot of different customer types. Marriott has been using for One Yield for twenty years and Total Yield was just rolled out a couple years ago so the amount of individual data vs. group data is staggering. As Marriott moves forward and tweaks any problems that Total Yield has, the amount of group data is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. The Design Of The Hardware The selection of the hardware is a very critical part of the hardware implementation of the project; the selector must know the pros and cons on the design of each component that is being used. The selection can lead to the failure or success of the project. Therefore, special attention is required to the selection process and it was discussed with the specialist of the electrical and mechanical engineering fields to be on safe side. The main components of the system that are used in this project are as follows: 1. Motor 2. Microcontroller 3. LEDs 4. Sensor for Synchronizing 5. Power Supply 4.1 Motor The two major classifications of the motors are AC and DC motors. Only the DC motors clearly fits our system because the AC motors are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It includes a motor controller. The function of the motor controller is to convert the DC into AC. Mechanically, these motors have simpler design than the other types of the DC motor as there is no requirement of transferring power to the spinning rotor from the outside of the motor. The position of the rotor is sensed by the control of a Hall Effect sensor or any other such device to optimize torque and regulate speed. Advantages Advantages of the Brushless DC motor are their long life, better efficiency, and high RPM with no maintenance required. Disadvantages The design of the controllers for these types of the motors is a bit more complex and they have relatively higher initial cost. These are the only disadvantages of the Brushless DC motor. 2. Brushed DC motors: The generation of the torque in the brushed DC motors is coming directly from the DC power. The internal commutation and the magnets that are stationary (magnets can be permanent or electromagnet) supply the power to the motor to generate the torque. These motors include carbon brushes to transfer the power to the rotating shaft. Advantages The cost required for a brushed DC motor is relatively low compared to other DC motors. These are highly reliable and have very simpler and basic type to control the motor. Disadvantages The major disadvantages of this type of motor include a shorter life span ... • 29. Energy Is The Key Determinant Of Economic Development And... 1.1 BACKGROUND Energy is the key determinant of economic development and prosperity of the society s quality of life. The human civilization started with the historic revolutionary invention of fuel energy which today has become a universal concern. Energy plays a vital role in human development and welfare, since all the important economic activities of present civilization are dependent on availability and level of consumption of energy (Rajgopal and Mishra, 1994). Energy is considered to be the life line of an economy, the most vital instrument of socio economic development and has been recognized as one of the most important strategic commodities (Sahir and Qureshi, 2007). Energy is not only essential for the economy but its supply is uncertain (Zaleski, 2001). Energy is a strategic source that influenced the outcome of wars, fueled and strangled economic development and polluted as well as clean up the environment. Energy in the layman s language is often synonymous with strength or force or better still fuels. In technical terms, energy is that thing that can be used to produce work. Fuels and materials that ignite at moderate temperature burn with comparative rapidity and are obtainable in quantities of reasonable prices (William and Pinto, 2000.) Energy sources can also be classified as renewable and non renewable forms. Renewable forms include; fuel, wood, solar energy, biogas and crop residue, while non renewable forms are mainly petroleum products such as; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Creativity is flowing and the Beat Poets of the 1950s are unknowingly establishing a counterculture movement, one that challenges the social norms and politics of their time and even transcends generations to remain relevant today. Poets like Jack Kerouac, William Seward Burroughs, Neal Cassady, and Allen Ginsberg were heavily influenced by jazz, adopting their seedy dress, manners, and hip vocabulary ( Beat Movement ) that changed their lifestyle and helped write their poetry. Specifically, Allen Ginsberg s poem Howl, is often regarded as the anthem of 1950s Beats ( Howl | Poem by Ginsberg ), a poem unstructured and free flowing to reflect Ginsberg s experiences. In Howl, Allen Ginsberg uses unique language and changes his tone throughout the poem in an attempt to break the constraints of confinement and seek his own forms of freedom. From the outset of Howl, Part I takes on a tone of delirium as the Beat Poets, sometimes referred to as the best minds or simply they , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tone of anger prevails in particularly in line 91, describing dreams, adorations, and illuminations as the whole boatload of sensitive bullshit that no one seems to care about. The 57,331 acre refuge was established in 1939 by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, an effort aimed to preserve the area as a wildlife habitat. The nucleus of the refuge is 7,000 acres of flood plain, an extensive area of wetlands and farmlands. Arid foothills and towering mesas ascend to the Chupadera Mountains and the San Pascual Mountains, giving shape to a landscape that captivates. • 33. The First Path Of Formation Of The Kazakh Diaspora Repression was blown to frightening enormous proportions. Repressions even reached the traditional knowledge holders Kazakh shamans baksi , which J. Assmann calls special carriers of cultural memory [13]. During this period, the trend of migration had been strengthened, and about a million ethnic Kazakhs was forced to migrate from their historic homeland to neighboring countries. It was the first path of formation of the Kazakh Diaspora, but there was also a second way: creation of state borders separated part of the kazakh people and made it difficult to communicate with the main ethnic masses [14], this process in science is called irredentism [15]. Thus, in the second half of the XIX century after the establishment of the Russian Chinese border part of Kazakhs who had been wintering in the former Qing Empire territory was in the allegiance of China. Subsequently, in 1916 after the suppression of the anti colonial rebellion in 1932 1934. During dispossession, collectivisation and famine some Kazakh tribes migrated from Kazakhstan to Xinjiang and took Chinese citizenship [16]. The main concentration of the Kazakh migrant fell on Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Turkey, Mongolia and China. Due to the special historical and political circumstances, one nation was artificially split into two parts repatriates and local , which naturally provoke the break of once united culture in two, conventionally called oralman and local culture. Ki is the life force or energy within a person, defined as the intrinsic power of the mind or the overwhelming attitude of self confidence and mental projection of power by 10th degree black belt O Sensei Jan Wellendorf (14). Everyone projects Ki at all times. Ki is projected by the way that one carries oneself (Whitfield). An illustrated example of projected Ki is if two men were standing next to each other, dressed in the same fashion and the same height, and one was holding his head up, had his arms crossed over his chest and seemed confident he might have an overbearing presence. Because of the way that he carries himself we would fear him, feeling the power of his confidence, or Ki, and we would shy away from him naturally. However, if the other man was slouching, his hands in his pockets and staring at the ground we might feel stronger than him, and possible respect him less because he does not carry himself strongly.
