Defining Personal Responsibility and Exploring My Own...
What is personal responsibility? Some examples people would probably come up with would be
these: working, chores, taking care of your family and some might even say going to school and
getting a better education. The definition of personal responsibility is: the obligation to carry
forward an assigned task to a successful conclusion. With responsibility goes authority to direct and
take the necessary action to ensure success. ("DOD Dictionary of Military and Associated Terms").
Personal responsibility to me is taking ownership of the things that will affect us in anyway, whether
it is in the long run or short term. If we do not take ownership of the situations around us we will be
consumed by duties and assignments which at that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will take personal responsibility to the next level in my studies. I will make sure everything I can
control in my realm will be completed to the best of my abilities. I will make sure my
responsibilities don't become 'burdens' or 'assignments'. My responsibilities will be complete and
because of the steps I have taken to choose my fate I will have the blessing of making my family's
life easier and I will be happier with my new sense of worth. Because of the direct connection going
to college has with making more money and being a successful person we should all take ownership
of our lives and get educated. According to Julian and Kominski (2011) "Occupation is often the
mechanism by which education is related to earnings. Higher levels of education allow people
access to more specialized jobs that are often associated with high pay. Degrees in many
occupations are treated as job training that may be required for a position or earn the employee more
pay within that position. (p.2.)." The way I see it, I have no choice. I will take ownership of my life
and I will make a better living situation for my family.
In conducting the research for this essay I found various websites and papers people have written
which all fell along the same lines of thinking about personal responsibility. It seemed that anyone
who thinks about personal responsibility automatically begins to list their everyday duties:

The Benefits Of Going To A Community College
According to Jenkins and Fink, the writers for the Community College Research Center, an average
of 38% of community colleges students transfer to a 4 year college and 42% of the students
complete a bachelor's degree within the next 6 years. Going to a community college is very
beneficial and affordable to children with high or low income. While I am taking Economics my
teacher broke down the concepts and benefits of going to a community college versus a university.
For example, going to Moraine Valley Community College is about $3,570 a year for their tuition,
while the University of Illinois is around $15,686 in tution. If you go to Moraine Valley Community
College for 2 years you will only be paying about $7,140 versus going to the University of Illinois
for 2 years and paying $31,372 Your saving $24,232 dollars if you go to a 2 year college versus
going the whole 4 years. If people are struggling financially this can be a financial advantage. Some
junior colleges cost less than two–thousand dollars each semester for students who attend full time
and it gives students some time to prepare for a 4 year university if they plan on taking their
education further. Going to a community college helps students to set goals and aspects for their
future career they want to pursue to transfer to a university. So why doesn't Joliet West counselors
promote the idea of going to a community college?

Students who may not know much about going to a community college may think

Junior Rearden
Religion
" Please God, please don't kill my daddy"(203). People have very different beliefs and ways to show
their beliefs. Junior shows his belief in God by praying for his father to arrive safely at the school.
After losing multiple people that he cares about he became so upset and cold and he needed hope
from God that he wouldn't lose his father as well. Some people do not believe that prayer works and
use different ways to ask for things. Junior was so happy to see his father he started laughing. He
knew that if he had a lot hope for his father to arrive safely that he would. 2. Goals and Dreams
" I felt important with a pen in my hand. I feel like I might grow up to be somebody important. An
artist. Maybe a famous artist. Maybe a rich artist"(6). Everyone has a dream job that they've always
wanted to have. Junior has a dream to be an artist. He encourages that dream by leaving the
reservation and going to Rearden, he is breaking out of his small town shell to become more
successful. He enjoys creating cartoons because it makes him feel special. He likes to portray how
he feels in cartoons, instead of words because images are limitless. Junior dreams of being someone
important and not just a small town Indian. Junior lives his current life in poverty and he wants to be
rich when he is older. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Education "Rearden was the opposite of the rez"(56). This evidence shows how all schools educate
students differently. Rearden had a great education which is why Mr. P wanted Junior to go to
Rearden so he could be more successful with is education because he is so intelligent. Mr. P saw
potential in Junior and thinks he can go far. In comparison, the reservation school was not as nice
nor as good of an education. They did not have a lot of funding for the school because it is in an area
of poverty for example, the books at the reservation were so old that they were same books that

Junior Fellow
There are many reasons that one would want to be a Junior Fellow but I think that the most
important one for me is the variety of opportunities that this program opens for me. I have a deep
passion for understanding how and why it is political actors act the way that they do. I think that the
Junior Fellows program opens up the way for me to dive head first into the field of research and
gain the necessary tools to be an effective researcher. Furthermore, as a student transferring with so
many credits to the University of Florida my ability to become involved in research projects is
somewhat limited, so the Junior Fellows program offers me a great opportunity. Now as far as my
specific research interests go, they are somewhat diverse but

My Junior Year : My Highself As A Junior Year
Benjamin Franklin once said, "I am lord of myself, accountable to none", and I feel that this has
defined my junior year greatly due to my tremendous growth as a student and a person. My junior
year has not only helped me develop skills needed for a future as a successful adult, but also ways to
live happier for both myself and those around. From the beginning of the school year in September
to now, I have changed my ways of a naive underclassmen to now showcase qualities as a young
adult in the community.
As the years fly by in my highschool career, I have continued to push myself by taking rigorous
courses that have shaped what I may choose as a career in the future. One of my hardest classes this
year has ultimately been AP Biology, and although I love the subject and all I have learned, my
grades reflect the constant struggle I have had in the class. AP Biology has not only taught me that
not only should I care for my own wellbeing, but also that of others and the world we live in
because our actions have a direct impact on all that surrounds us. AP Biology was also one of the
first classes I have ever taken where I need to study the material in order to perform well on a test.
This was very different for me because in comparison to previous courses, I never needed to study
before a big exam or quiz in order to get a B or higher, therefore I really did not know how to study.
Through AP Biology I learned how to study and encouraged me to attempt studying for other
courses I was taking, helping improve my grades all around. However, I still hopelessly plagued
with procrastination this year in nearly all my classes, which really impacted my grades as well.
As a person, junior has helped me realize that other people's actions do not always need a reaction
from me. I have been able to keep myself and my own priorities in place while ignoring those who
are not there to support. As a person, I have learned to allow who and what is good is for me in my
own life and leave what is toxic in my life behind, because I have control over my own life. This
includes having respect for myself and others because I am putting myself first and allowing for
myself to be happy in a respectful manner to others. I have also

The Fleeting Shadow: Life of Lawrence Exeter Essay
Is this the irony of fate or just a plain coincidence? Lawrence Exeter Senior sat by the foggy
window, with the breath of life gone by. Just a few hours ago, he got a phone call from Flossie.
"Mr. Exeter, Junior had collapsed and was sent to the emergency room!" Her voice was mixed with
panic and consternation. Lawrence's mind went blank and his phone dropped on the white speckled
with gray tiled floors.
"Dr. McCoy, are there any way to save my son?" Lawrence Exeter Senior pleaded.
"Mr. Exeter, I believe you did not know about Junior's conditions for the past few months. Junior is
diagnosed with..." Dr. McCoy remarked.

"I saw the story about your railroads in the newspaper a couple of weeks ago, and I had to come and
see you again," Daisy responded. Lawrence was not born as a boss of the famous railroad company.
He had worked his way up from a low level. He did not attend the top fifty universities in the world.
In fact, he dropped out of college. However, he had strong leadership skills, a great personality, and
a senior–level managerial experience. He was one of the most admirable people in the world.
Lawrence smiled broadly. "I'm glad you did." He studied her face closely, noticing her brilliant blue
eyes. "You look gorgeous. You're even prettier now than you were then."
Daisy felt her cheeks redden. "Thank you. You look great, too."
"So what have you been up to? Why are you here?" he asked.
She turned away and took a deep breath, wondering how to say it, and when she finally started, her
voice was quiet. "I'm pregnant. You remember Ian, right? He was our high school friend." Lawrence
sat in silence for endless minutes, staring at Daisy, unable to believe what he had just heard, yet
believing it. He could see in her eyes that she meant every word she had said. "I'm sorry," she said
softly. He nodded understandingly. Daisy's belly grew larger and few months later, a soft angelic
baby was born. Since Daisy and Lawrence were inseparable friends in high school, he visited her to

Junior Discrimination
Five million two hundred thousand Native Americans are suffering from poverty, alcoholism,
unemployment and high rates of suicide (Peralta, "Native Americans Left Behind"). In the
unfortunate events of discrimination and prejudice against First Nations, they are at huge
disadvantages and do not have many rights (McCue, "Racism against Aboriginal People"). The
famous writer, Sherman Alexie, also known as Junior, is able to share and beautifully capture his
experiences through his book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part–Time Indian. Throughout his
novel, he shares his struggles growing up being Native American, who is a hydrocephalic, has a
stutter, a lisp and sacrifices himself by attending an all white school (Alexie 1–4). Junior's decision

Following, if Junior returns to Spokane, he is given the full opportunity to find redemption for
rebelling. By the very end of the novel, a slight glimpse of atonement is seen when, he plays
basketball with his lifelong friend, Rowdy and they do not keep track of the score (Alexie 184). The
importance of this event, is that the tribe is extremely ashamed of him leaving, however, towards the
end of the novel, Rowdy realizes that Junior is still the same person regardless of his atrocious
choices and immediately receives forgiveness. Likewise, if he transfers back, many people from the
Spokane tribe will appreciate and approve of his ways. This validates that he is fully accredited to be
exempt from his mistakes. All in all, Junior makes a very bad choice of betraying the reservation,
making Junior a traitor, who suffers from the consequences and loses out on opportunities to gain
forgiveness from his

Junior Council Report
I have chosen to run for next year's Junior Council because I believe I can make a positive impact on
my class and improve the Marin Catholic community. I want to be involved in all the positive ways
Marin Catholic improves people lives. For me the transition from middle school to high school was
a large leap and I still see some classmates struggling with making new friends and adapting to a
busier high school life. If I were to be elected I would try to change this by providing easily
accessible study sessions that are available to the whole class. It is ideas like this and others that I
have heard from fellow peers that I want to estate so that my class can become a closer and more
supportive community.
I have held multiple leadership roles inside and outside of Marin Catholic in the past two years. I
have been a leader on my JV waterpolo team, my work colleagues, and in the Marin Catholic
Interact Club. From last spring to this winter I was a lifeguard at a local swimming and tennis club,
during these months I leaved valuable skills in communication and work ethic. I was the assistant to

want the junior class to become more an extended family than just a class so that everyone will be

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Youth Participation In...
The sport of tennis is often thought of as a "country club" sport – limited only to the wealthy and
elite. Due to its financial requirements, people who are less fortunate are often denied opportunities
to play. Substantial expenses that accumulate from lessons, equipment, and membership fees deter
potential players from participating. Inner–city youth are underrepresented due to lack of attainable
resources and programs. Aside from financial limitations, many junior athletes favor the
characteristics of team sports such as football, soccer, and basketball over the independence and
isolation of an individual sport like tennis. Not to mention, team sports are often far less costly. Due
to these drawbacks and perceptions, prospective junior tennis athletes are often more inclined to
take the route of a different sport. I believe that youth participation in tennis is deteriorating. As an
avid tennis player and advocate for the sport, I identify this as a major problem. Discovering
practical methods that introduce and attract younger players to tennis is crucial in expanding
participation. Broadening accessibility to tennis, demonstrating its positive values, and targeting
specific ethnic and social groups are worthy solutions in reversing the negative trend. Inner–city
kids are some who have the most difficulty becoming involved in tennis. A large majority of these
kids don't come from an economic background capable of providing expenses required for
participation in the sport. Talented underprivileged kids may never have the opportunity to go to a
country club and take lessons. More often than not, urban areas lack the facilities and money to
provide tennis programs for their kids. This economic deficit becomes a major challenge for
impoverished kids who want to learn tennis. As a result, inner–city youth neglect even the thought
of playing tennis, and become underrepresented as a part of the junior tennis community. By finding
a way to give the inner–city kids of poorer, urban areas the opportunities to take part in tennis, we
can expect to see participation of youth rise. One practical method to encourage the involvement of
inner–city kids is to implement tennis programs in public schools. By introducing

The Key Challenge For Academic Achievement
Prompt 5: Describe the most significant challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to
overcome this challenge. How has this challenge affected your academic achievement?
Most children grow up fearing the dark or scary monsters in the closet. I grew up fearing my dad
and his alcoholism. When I was in the third grade, my dad always drove me home from school, and
I prayed to God every day that he would be sober. His breath always reeked of alcohol, and his eyes
were constantly bloodshot red. As a child, I didn't understand the consequences of alcohol until one
day, during the ride home, my dad swerved onto multiple lanes, resulting in loud, alarming sirens. I

How have you developed and demonstrated that talent over time?
Patience is a virtue, but to me, it is a skill. It has become a trait that I possess in my relationships
with others. As a former assistant to a private tutor, I was granted the opportunity to teach a variety
of students, ranging from kids who just learned how to add and subtract to those who know how to
calculate the slope of a tangent line.
One of my students, Kyle, was a 10–year–old boy who struggles with dyslexia. Words that were
simple for others his age to read were difficult for him to understand. From this, I understood the
importance of having patience and multiple perspectives. Every day, I helped Kyle with his
homework, and every day I saw the frustration on his face when he had difficulty reading. I learned
to have patience with not only with him but also myself. I had to put myself in Kyle's shoes and try
not to get frustrated when he couldn't read a word in order to find the best method of teaching him.
Over time, his reading improved and he slowly was able to differentiate his letters. He no longer
confused his d's with his b's and his q's with his p's. With this, Kyle made me realize that I was
making a difference in someone else's life as well as my own by opening my eyes to the possibility
of working with children in the future.
Patience is difficult to maintain which is why I consider having patience a talent. It is not something
inherent in most people's

Ready For Junior Year
To begin with, so far I started off on the right track this year and I'm satisfied about it. There this one
question that has been constantly repeating itself on my head. Am I ready for junior year? I been
asking this question to myself constantly this school year. I believe that I'm not ready for junior year.
The reason why I'm saying this is because I feel like there a lot more concepts to know of to be
certified to myself that I'm ready for junior year. Which is understandable to me because I know
myself if I'm ready or not.
Moreover, I believe that there's still a lot to learn. Last year this question had come up around this

In order to see the world at 15,000 ft we must get out and about, leave our comfort zone. We take so
much time to mentor our junior subordinates, but forget about the junior officer. Junior officers must
know how to deal with administration, division proficiency, seamanship. A junior officer will only
go as far, as their first chief will take them. Perhaps the reason the division officer does not reach out
for the chief is because he had a bad experience with the chief's mess, and is scared of the "goat
locker". Reach out to your junior officer invite them in for a cup of coffee, discuss work, discuss
life. Help them to reach their goals professionally and in their personal life. Create time to teach
your junior officer what you are doing, why your are doing it that way, get them involved with
administration. Perhaps create a unofficial PQS with tasks that a junior officer is expected to know
and complete before his tour is complete. Material should include general division knowledge, basic
administrative functions, budget managing, supply functions, and work life. . In conclusion junior
officers and chiefs unwillingness to follow a mentorship program, is causing poor mission
execution. This can be resolved by the chief getting out of the mess and mentoring the junior officer.

I Am An American Born Asian Male Teenager
I am an American born Asian male teenager. According to the East Asian Youth, there are two kinds

about where K–pop differs from American pop. This will already be mentioned in the first section

Korean Pop Music And Its Effects
For the past 4–5 years I have listened to Korean pop music as my main source of music. Over this
time, a lot of changes have happened in the Kpop community but the most outstanding change was
how much more popular Korean music has become worldwide. Kpop has been around since the 90's
but has recently become much more popular globally with thanks to the internet and social media.
Globalisation and its effects have been amplified extremely by the Internet which has facilitated
communications between different groups of people on a global scale. Sites such as Twitter,
Facebook and YouTube have allowed Korean artists to reach a new, much larger audience and
achieve global success. The surge in the visibility of Korean culture has been coined 'The Korean
Wave' or 'Hallyu' which translated literally means the flow of Korea. The Hallyu wave first began by
the spread of Korean dramas being televised in other areas of Asia and continued to grow once
Kpop artists began utilising social networking services and in particular YouTube. Much of the
Hallyu Wave's success can be attributed to the video sharing website. YouTube has allowed Korean
(and other nationalities) artists to post their content online and be viewed by the larger overseas
audience. As of 2012, the most viewed video that has ever been uploaded to YouTube is a Korean
pop music video, holding a world record for the achievement and now totalling over 1 billion views.

When parents sign their children up for activities, they of course have to keep in mind what the
children themselves want, and that is fun. Activities for the average youngster these days include
swimming lessons, baseball, football, gymnastics, and ballet. All of these options are great for
interaction with their friends, time alone for their parents, and exercise, but there is an option that
can be equally as fun that can have a great impact on the child 's future. This option is tennis, a truly
great individual sport, that can truly be a money making opportunity. Don 't get me wrong, I 'm not
saying to force your children to play tennis, however if they try it and like it, then it is a perfect
scenario. I picked up a tennis racket for the first time at the age of 18. Within a year, I could have
made the team at any high school in my city; however I was already in college. By the time I was
finishing up college, I could have made the team at some community colleges earning scholarships.
Who knew I would love and excel at tennis, because it is simply not something a child usually has
interest in. My parents would have never thought to put me into tennis lessons, and as you will see,

My College Experience
Growing up, I never saw myself as one of those people who graduate high school and then off to a
four–year college they went. It was hard enough just to imagine attempting, let alone succeeding, at
a two–year college. Even though, I had wondered what it might have been like to experience dorm
life at a college in another town, even state. But, for me, after high school graduation, I was enrolled
at the Community College.
It didn't take long for me to realize College life probably wouldn't continue. Maybe it was the
classes I was enrolled in, maybe it was knowing I needed to find a job, or maybe it was just the
excuses I used. Soon the college road, reached a sign that read, 'Dead End Approaching. Detour
Ahead. Proceed with Caution'. And with that, college became a distant memory in my rear view
mirror.
It was during the early part of 2014 that I decided to walk my talk. For years, I told my son he was
going to college; he was going to finish and I would make sure he got to. But how could I say
anything about college, if I couldn't back it up? By returning to college, I was going to get a degree,
proving to myself, I can accomplish and finish something. Hoping my son would see that I wasn't
just talking the talk, also hoping he would be proud of me.
Fast forward three years, and here I am, with a life road ending, approaching another sign, at the
crossroads.

As a result of my Junior Achievement education, I have acquired knowledge about many things that
will guide me through my life in the future, such as personal finance, world–wide issues, and
decision making for the road ahead. I have learned how to manage my money by putting it into a
savings account, keeping track of my income and spendings, and by spending money wisely. I have
also learned about the decisions I will have to make in my future such as if I want to attend college,
what kind of career I would want to pursue, and other situations like paying taxes and saving up to
purchase a house. Junior Achievement has given me the skills and knowledge that will help me
succeed in my life and many other things that I choose to do.

Using Technology Into An Organization
Culture View According to a recent LACCD memorandum beginning 2014 all employees will have
the opportunity to download their W2 forms directly from the Districts personnel page. The District
anticipates that this decision will lower their cost of printing and postage. It will also enable
employees to receive financial information quickly and electronically. However, one of the main
drawbacks with modifying the organization procedures is that some employees might feel
apprehensive to the change. The culture of an organization refers to the "pattern of development
reflected in a society's system of knowledge, ideology, values, laws, and day–to–day ritual"
(Morgan, 120). In the case of LACCD they must understand how the changes in procedures might
alter the culture and shape the views of employees. The ability to integrate technology into an
organization depends on the employee's practices, values, and beliefs. It also depends on their ability
to learn how to use the technology and willingness to implement the technology. I believe that
school leaders should consider integrating technology into an organization in a slow and methodical
manner in order to help employees understand the new procedures and give them the opportunity to
adapt. This method of integration can help organizations implement their plan and lower employee
resistance. The resistance in implementing technology into an organization can significantly
increase if it has the potential to impact the

Foreign Donations Worth 98 $ Million Essay
Windows exploded as the storm sustained its wrath. Shards pierced soft bodies. My father wrapped
in blood. Next to him, sat on a pile of wet paper, my mother –– grasping a rosario as she clutched
my 10–year old brother. I looked down the stairs – all I saw was a surge of thick brown water
determined to cover the entire first floor. In shock, we had no choice but to wait. Outside, I saw
tangled electric posts as they collapsed like dominoes. Cars, bikes and buses rushed through waters
stacked a mountain pile. The storm was only the tip of the iceberg; aftermath worse.
In despair to survive, all stampeded their way to loot stores. Money had no value and God
unrecognized. Worse our own president neglected to help and managed to point blames to the city
mayor. As help poured in, news circulated that foreign donations worth 98$ million were put unto
hold by the government. Politics still preeminent in the midst of devastation. Our house completely
vanished. For six months, we slept in a tent on my father's office rooftop. We lit candles to survive
the night. The glimmer of the candlelight etched in my mind the gift of a second life. I realized that
life is too short to delay critically important decisions. If I wanted to impact the world, the time is
now. As a child, I knew I was one of the initiators of change. I always have been involved in civic
engagement. In high school, I was a crusader for graft and corruption working closely with the
ombudsman. I furthered my

Four Year Vs Juco
Four Year or Juco The decision making process on what college to attend can be stressful. For some,
the deciding factor can be where they get the better offer for sports, such as Butler Community
College, or where is closer to home, like Wichita State University. When the time comes to have this
tough, and extremely long, process come into play, look at the pros and cons of the college choices
and how each one can benefit life after college. What institution can you get out of as much as you
put in? Which college has the degree completion plan you are wanting to pursue? These questions
weighs in all incoming college students minds who strive for that goal of success that is a college
degree. Despite bearing some minor similarities, the differences ... Show more content on

Naturally, going to a University is going to be more expensive than a juco because it is a four–year
college verses two. Tuition for a two year juco is 2000 dollars according to the U.S. Department of
Education. This seems expensive, but when you hear a university like WSU tuition is 2900, 2000
does not seem bad. Knowing you could get the same education for the first two years at a cheaper
price is useful. The dorm cost is also extremely different. WSU cost for dorms plus the meal plans
can add up to over 4000 dollars a semester. On the other hand, Butler's cost for dorm and meal plan
is over 2,500 dollars a semester.
Academics, sports, and cost are some similarities and differences between Wichita State and Butler
Community College. Other than being located in Kansas, Wichita and Butler both have what it takes
to get you on the path to success. Wichita has the starting classes for any and all degrees and so does
Butler. Every degree possible has to have the foundation classes such as College Algebra, English
101, and a fine arts credit. Both schools offer a variety of sports and courses. Making a choice
between these two colleges might be difficult but you cannot go wrong with either

Performance Funding : A Descriptive Study
Performance Funding, A Descriptive Study
During the years 1979 to 2007, 26 states enacted performance funding (Harnisch 2011). According
to the National Conference of State Legislatures, today 33 states use performance based funding as a
source of determination for their higher education institutions. Locally, the state of Louisiana is not
exempt. According to senate bill 337, the higher education commissioner must submit a proposal for
outcome based funding by the end of 2015 to the Board of Regents for approval. Performance based
funds are often used across the United States thus understanding this mandate is critical to the
continued success of higher education institutions. The research shows both the positive and
negative outcomes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dougherty notes that the "First wave of performance funding adoption began in Tennessee in 1979,
and ended in 2000, when a recession struck and caused a sharp decline in new program adoptions
and the discontinuation of many existing programs. It seemed as if performance funding had been
but a passing fancy. However, beginning in 2007, another wave of performance funding arose. The
first–wave programs typically involved a bonus for higher education institutions above base state
funding. The performance funding bonus was relatively small, between 1 and 6 percent of base state
funding for public higher education" (Dougherty and Reddy 201). This policy has been labeled
"performance funding 1.0".
"The second wave of performance funding began in 2007 with two–thirds of these new programs
being re–adoptions of discontinued first–wave programs. In about two–fifths of these wave 2
programs, performance funding typically did not take the form of a bonus on top of regular state
funding. Rather, performance funding dollars were embedded in the base state funding for higher
education.
This has been dubbed "performance funding 2.0" (Dougherty and Reddy 2013).
As noted by Friedel, Performance 1.0 emphasized outcome measures such

College Should Offer Free Tuition
Having a college degree is considered to a vital part of being successful in today's day and age.
College degrees are really expensive, but in a long run they really pay off. College can be a big
financial burden so with that being said, in my opinion, I think community college should offer free
tuition with some sort of standards to be eligible for free tuition. President Barack Obama conveyed
a speech at Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan this past September. President
Obama proposed a free educational cost at any two–year junior college at length of their stay as long
as they were at least half–time students, and they keep up a base evaluation point normal of no less
than 2.5 and the administration would cover seventy five percent of the costs to the state getting the
remaining total as stated by Silvia Munguia. CQ researcher Silvia Munguia, states that "Although
some people may disapprove of the proposal, arguing that the country would lose a lot of money and
that offering free community colleges would not necessarily improve our educational system nor
guarantee students ' graduation from college, it is definitely a great starting point." I agree with this
because at the end of the day, you have to start somewhere. Munguia also states "There are many
benefits of making the first two years of college free. If Obama 's proposal passes more people will
be able to attend college and be better prepared upon entering the job market. Free community

Junior As A Survivor Essay
There is no doubt that Junior is a survivor. Typically a survivor is a person who overcomes an
obstacle. In the community Wellpinit, there were a lot of helpless people who had given up,
including Junior's own family. Arnold Spirit, known as Junior, already had cerebral spinal damage in
the skull. He had already been a survivor since birth. Overtime, Junior was bullied by most kids his
age and his very own reservation camp neighbors. This was only the beginning.
To begin with, Junior lived in poverty, in a place surrounded by alcohol, and alcoholics. The high
school on the reservation was so helpless that the books were as old as Junior's parents! There were
times when Junior's breakfast was a gallon of orange flavor drink mix. The only Christmas gift he'd
receive was a five dollar bill if he was even lucky. Living like this and to not give up like the rest
made him a survivor. Junior's sister had given up school, but once had a dream of writing romance
novels. Along with Junior's sister, Junior's father and mother gave up way before she did. Everyone
else on the reservation had given up since it was ultimately a death camp. Even the young teenagers
had given up in school.
As time flew by, everyone that meant so much to Junior had passed away. Both Junior's grandma
and sister had passed away. Along with them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Basic Understanding Of Irish Law
To address this question, a basic understanding of Irish law with all its complexities and
contradictions is necessary. Irish law lays the foundations for all aspects of life within Irish society
and just as society itself is constantly evolving, so too is Irish law as it is being constantly updated,
reviewed and amended to keep up with the times and a modernising society. This essay will focus
solely on the education sector and the respective underpinning principals which guide, direct and
influence practitioners as they work within this sector. The themes of reasonableness,
proportionality and equality form the back bone of the Irish legal system and this is no different
within the education sector. By focusing on the aforementioned themes, this essay will discuss areas
of health and safety, duty of care and negligence, bullying, special educational needs, employment
law, codes of behaviour, child protection and family law as well as admission and participation
policies and furthermore draw upon relevant legislation and appropriate documents and cases to
highlight the governing legal principals at play within the education sector. As practitioners in this
sector, one must be continually aware of the changing nature of society as well as the underpinning
legal principles which govern and direct all aspects of teaching, learning and administration. Firstly,
and before any learning or teaching can take place, health and safety take precedence. Therefore the

History Of Development Of The Two Year College
The history of the development of the two–year college as presented by Cohen and Brawer (1987,
2003), Dougherty (1994), Townsend and Twombly (2001), and Hutcheson (1999) indicates that
most two–year institutions started out as junior colleges, providing the first two years of a bachelor
's degree for those living in rural areas without nearby universities and a chance to explore options
for those who were undecided about their careers. From the first community college established in
1901 in Joliet, Illinois (Dougherty 1994), the number of community colleges across the United
States multiplied until the 1980s. After World War II the GI Bill of Rights promised returning
veterans access to higher education. In the 1960s the Johnson Administration used the community
college as "a key weapon in its War On Poverty," supporting growth to the extent that "by late in the
decade, a new community college opened every week" (Nystrand and Duffy 10). With the Center
for Educational Statistics showing enrollments of over 2.1 million students in 654 community
colleges as of 1970, more students were beginning their college careers at two–year community
colleges than at their four–year counterparts, and by 1980 more than 4.5 million students were
enrolled in community colleges (Brint and Karabel 198). Local school and other government
officials were motivated to support the establishment of community colleges to meet the needs of
business, the demands of families for affordable

Descriptive Essay About Basketball
I walked into the high school gym 15 minutes before it started. I was ready to kill it. I could already
smell the fresh new volleyballs for the upcoming season. It was the last day of junior varsity
volleyball tryouts. "Hi Amber!" exclaimed Taylor, the junior varsity coach. I waved, sat down, and
got my shoes and kneepads on. There were many upperclassmen in the gym ready to make the team
they had all made the previous year. Honestly, it was pretty intimidating being a freshman
surrounded by all of these amazing players. But, I knew I'd be okay because I spent my entire
offseason preparing and working in order to make the team I'd wanted to play on during my
freshman year. The previous day, I had worked hard, but not as hard as I could. I promised myself
that I would prove to the coach and myself that I was worthy of making the junior varsity team and
playing on it. That day, Coach Wiley told us that only 12 people would make each team. Those
words made me freeze up because I was so nervous. To start the second day, Coach Taylor was
tossing balls to pass and I worked as hard as I ever could to make each and every forearm pass
perfect. At that point, I was already sweating like a glass of lemonade on a hot day. We then did a
hitting drill with freshman and first–year players only. After, we did some setting drills and a few
transition drills. Then, it was time for a water break.

With that in mind, I'd plan to devote a paragraph to defining the basic terms, and then begin my

associated with submarines. Subsequently, I would remove the jargon and then ensure that I defined
any common technical terms that I may have been required to use. The next detail I'd have to think
about is sentence length. Since most of the terms and concepts involved in nuclear power require a
lot of elaboration, I'd have to minimize the length of my sentences. The combination of wordy
sentences and complicated technical terms can easily confound the average person, which may lead
to frustration. To prevent losing my readers, my explanation must be straightforward and not possess
any excess "fluff." In addition to sentence length, I also have to ponder on the sentence structure. If I
use too many complex sentences, my reader may become confuse. This goes hand–in–hand with the
length of my sentences. I will have to mainly stick to simple sentences; allowing my audience to

Teammate I woke up at six, I didn't get a lot of sleep that night because I was filled with anxiety. It

Attending College : A Terrific And Terrifying Experience

However, there were students that had other priorities at the time, whether it be providing for their

reason, it can be considered a second chance at school to those students in situations of that sort and
of a similar fashion. As stated before, college life can extremely nerve wrecking. Especially, to a
young adult of 18–20 years of age. Most of us, in that point of lives have no clue as to what want to
do. We don't know what want be after college, we aren't really sure of what we would want to study
in school. Some individuals can't even decide on what they are going to eat for the most important
meal of the day. Junior college can be a help to the younger generation decide on what they want to
do with their lives. There are also the students that come from smaller schools. The students that
would be used to small classes and suddenly thrust into a course where they end up in a huge room
full of other students would be an immense culture shock. Smaller classroom settings could possibly
allow a student to get the help that they need by receiving personalized assistance from the professor
of that course. Also there are the students from lower income communities. I believe that some of
their curriculums do not allow for students to prepare themselves to enter a university, they are more

The Benefits of Attending a Community College Essay example
A look back at the institution of education over the past 20 years will reveal that once upon a time a
bachelor's degree was long since considered the marker of ultimate success, the highest level of
achievement that one could make in their lives. In those days, if for some reason you failed to march
across the stage on graduation day after an epic, four–year stretch of high tuition, long nights
studying, and unrelenting professors that found great joy in riding your back, then you had indeed
failed at life.

By taking these steps, you are in complete control of your education and which directions it will turn
in. It will be forward moving rather than stalled and undecided, which can potentially lead to higher
bills as a direct result of your extended enrollment beyond the intended 2–year stay.
This is not the only way that you can save by going to a community college. Chances are a larger
university is not near your home. A school closer to home allows you to stay home and cut your bills
another way by eliminating room and board fees and transportation expenses. Driving across town
and maintaining your sometimes drastically lower living expenses sounds much better than the
usurious bill many find themselves incurring at a larger school miles away from home.

How I Lost The Junior Miss Pageant Short Story
In the story, "How I Lost the Junior Miss Pageant" by Cindy Bosley, the narrator tells her story

lost the pageant. She went even further after the pageant was over, to tell the reader how
disappointed her mother was because she did not win and her mother's ultimate sorrow, her

She did the pageant to get her mother's acceptance for one. Her mother always had put her down,
"After my mother's never–subtle hints that if I'd just lose 20 pounds boys would like me and I might
even win a beauty contest" (Mauk & Metz, 2016, pg. 34).
Throughout reading the story, I felt the mother and daughter always had a problem with people
accepting them for who they were. The theme about wanting people to accept you is a hard one to
talk about because I feel that everyone wants to feel accepted. Some people want that to happen
without them changing themselves and some people will change themselves if it means that they're
with the rest. Acceptance is what the mother really wants because she's always had problems with
men and it hurt that her husband left her for an even heavier woman. The daughter, on the other
hand, still wants people to accept her, but she's come to terms with 'reality' that she'll never be the
lucky one, "I'd lost this contest at birth...I'd lost the contest in borrowed shoes and an out–of–date
dress...I'd lost the contest with the engagement ring on my seventeen–year–old finger" (Mauk &
Metz, 2016, pg. 36).
The novel, "How I Lost the Junior Miss Pageant" taught the devastating effects of what can happen
once you need someone else's approval of yourself. The mother and daughter were both transparent
people that wanted a way out from never being seen. When you live your life by training yourself or

Defining Personal Responsibility And Exploring My Own...

  • 1. Defining Personal Responsibility and Exploring My Own... What is personal responsibility? Some examples people would probably come up with would be these: working, chores, taking care of your family and some might even say going to school and getting a better education. The definition of personal responsibility is: the obligation to carry forward an assigned task to a successful conclusion. With responsibility goes authority to direct and take the necessary action to ensure success. ("DOD Dictionary of Military and Associated Terms"). Personal responsibility to me is taking ownership of the things that will affect us in anyway, whether it is in the long run or short term. If we do not take ownership of the situations around us we will be consumed by duties and assignments which at that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will take personal responsibility to the next level in my studies. I will make sure everything I can control in my realm will be completed to the best of my abilities. I will make sure my responsibilities don't become 'burdens' or 'assignments'. My responsibilities will be complete and because of the steps I have taken to choose my fate I will have the blessing of making my family's life easier and I will be happier with my new sense of worth. Because of the direct connection going to college has with making more money and being a successful person we should all take ownership of our lives and get educated. According to Julian and Kominski (2011) "Occupation is often the mechanism by which education is related to earnings. Higher levels of education allow people access to more specialized jobs that are often associated with high pay. Degrees in many occupations are treated as job training that may be required for a position or earn the employee more pay within that position. (p.2.)." The way I see it, I have no choice. I will take ownership of my life and I will make a better living situation for my family. In conducting the research for this essay I found various websites and papers people have written which all fell along the same lines of thinking about personal responsibility. It seemed that anyone who thinks about personal responsibility automatically begins to list their everyday duties: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. The Benefits Of Going To A Community College According to Jenkins and Fink, the writers for the Community College Research Center, an average of 38% of community colleges students transfer to a 4 year college and 42% of the students complete a bachelor's degree within the next 6 years. Going to a community college is very beneficial and affordable to children with high or low income. While I am taking Economics my teacher broke down the concepts and benefits of going to a community college versus a university. For example, going to Moraine Valley Community College is about $3,570 a year for their tuition, while the University of Illinois is around $15,686 in tution. If you go to Moraine Valley Community College for 2 years you will only be paying about $7,140 versus going to the University of Illinois for 2 years and paying $31,372 Your saving $24,232 dollars if you go to a 2 year college versus going the whole 4 years. If people are struggling financially this can be a financial advantage. Some junior colleges cost less than two–thousand dollars each semester for students who attend full time and it gives students some time to prepare for a 4 year university if they plan on taking their education further. Going to a community college helps students to set goals and aspects for their future career they want to pursue to transfer to a university. So why doesn't Joliet West counselors promote the idea of going to a community college? Audience: Students who may not know much about going to a community college may think ... • 5. Junior Rearden Religion " Please God, please don't kill my daddy"(203). People have very different beliefs and ways to show their beliefs. Junior shows his belief in God by praying for his father to arrive safely at the school. After losing multiple people that he cares about he became so upset and cold and he needed hope from God that he wouldn't lose his father as well. Some people do not believe that prayer works and use different ways to ask for things. Junior was so happy to see his father he started laughing. He knew that if he had a lot hope for his father to arrive safely that he would. 2. Goals and Dreams " I felt important with a pen in my hand. I feel like I might grow up to be somebody important. An artist. Maybe a famous artist. Maybe a rich artist"(6). Everyone has a dream job that they've always wanted to have. Junior has a dream to be an artist. He encourages that dream by leaving the reservation and going to Rearden, he is breaking out of his small town shell to become more successful. He enjoys creating cartoons because it makes him feel special. He likes to portray how he feels in cartoons, instead of words because images are limitless. Junior dreams of being someone important and not just a small town Indian. Junior lives his current life in poverty and he wants to be rich when he is older. ... Rearden had a great education which is why Mr. P wanted Junior to go to Rearden so he could be more successful with is education because he is so intelligent. Mr. P saw potential in Junior and thinks he can go far. In comparison, the reservation school was not as nice nor as good of an education. They did not have a lot of funding for the school because it is in an area of poverty for example, the books at the reservation were so old that they were same books that Junior's mother ... • 7. Junior Fellow There are many reasons that one would want to be a Junior Fellow but I think that the most important one for me is the variety of opportunities that this program opens for me. I have a deep passion for understanding how and why it is political actors act the way that they do. I think that the Junior Fellows program opens up the way for me to dive head first into the field of research and gain the necessary tools to be an effective researcher. Furthermore, as a student transferring with so many credits to the University of Florida my ability to become involved in research projects is somewhat limited, so the Junior Fellows program offers me a great opportunity. • 9. My Junior Year : My Highself As A Junior Year Benjamin Franklin once said, "I am lord of myself, accountable to none", and I feel that this has defined my junior year greatly due to my tremendous growth as a student and a person. My junior year has not only helped me develop skills needed for a future as a successful adult, but also ways to live happier for both myself and those around. From the beginning of the school year in September to now, I have changed my ways of a naive underclassmen to now showcase qualities as a young adult in the community. As the years fly by in my highschool career, I have continued to push myself by taking rigorous courses that have shaped what I may choose as a career in the future. One of my hardest classes this year has ultimately been AP Biology, and although I love the subject and all I have learned, my grades reflect the constant struggle I have had in the class. AP Biology has not only taught me that not only should I care for my own wellbeing, but also that of others and the world we live in because our actions have a direct impact on all that surrounds us. AP Biology was also one of the first classes I have ever taken where I need to study the material in order to perform well on a test. This was very different for me because in comparison to previous courses, I never needed to study before a big exam or quiz in order to get a B or higher, therefore I really did not know how to study. Through AP Biology I learned how to study and encouraged me to attempt studying for other courses I was taking, helping improve my grades all around. However, I still hopelessly plagued with procrastination this year in nearly all my classes, which really impacted my grades as well. As a person, junior has helped me realize that other people's actions do not always need a reaction from me. I have been able to keep myself and my own priorities in place while ignoring those who are not there to support. As a person, I have learned to allow who and what is good is for me in my own life and leave what is toxic in my life behind, because I have control over my own life. This includes having respect for myself and others because I am putting myself first and allowing for myself to be happy in a respectful manner to others. I have also ... • 11. The Fleeting Shadow: Life of Lawrence Exeter Essay Is this the irony of fate or just a plain coincidence? Lawrence Exeter Senior sat by the foggy window, with the breath of life gone by. Just a few hours ago, he got a phone call from Flossie. "Mr. Exeter, Junior had collapsed and was sent to the emergency room!" Her voice was mixed with panic and consternation. Lawrence's mind went blank and his phone dropped on the white speckled with gray tiled floors. "Dr. McCoy, are there any way to save my son?" Lawrence Exeter Senior pleaded. "Mr. Exeter, I believe you did not know about Junior's conditions for the past few months. Junior is diagnosed with..." Dr. McCoy remarked. "Dr. McCoy! "I saw the story about your railroads in the newspaper a couple of weeks ago, and I had to come and see you again," Daisy responded. Lawrence was not born as a boss of the famous railroad company. He had worked his way up from a low level. He did not attend the top fifty universities in the world. In fact, he dropped out of college. However, he had strong leadership skills, a great personality, and a senior–level managerial experience. He was one of the most admirable people in the world. Lawrence smiled broadly. "I'm glad you did." He studied her face closely, noticing her brilliant blue eyes. "You look gorgeous. You're even prettier now than you were then." Daisy felt her cheeks redden. "Thank you. You look great, too." "So what have you been up to? Why are you here?" he asked. She turned away and took a deep breath, wondering how to say it, and when she finally started, her voice was quiet. "I'm pregnant. You remember Ian, right? He was our high school friend." Lawrence sat in silence for endless minutes, staring at Daisy, unable to believe what he had just heard, yet believing it. He could see in her eyes that she meant every word she had said. "I'm sorry," she said softly. He nodded understandingly. Daisy's belly grew larger and few months later, a soft angelic baby was born. Since Daisy and Lawrence were inseparable friends in high school, he visited her to the Hollywood Hospital. "Hey Daisy, I brought some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Junior Discrimination Five million two hundred thousand Native Americans are suffering from poverty, alcoholism, unemployment and high rates of suicide (Peralta, "Native Americans Left Behind"). In the unfortunate events of discrimination and prejudice against First Nations, they are at huge disadvantages and do not have many rights (McCue, "Racism against Aboriginal People"). The famous writer, Sherman Alexie, also known as Junior, is able to share and beautifully capture his experiences through his book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part–Time Indian. Throughout his novel, he shares his struggles growing up being Native American, who is a hydrocephalic, has a stutter, a lisp and sacrifices himself by attending an all white school (Alexie 1–4). By the very end of the novel, a slight glimpse of atonement is seen when, he plays basketball with his lifelong friend, Rowdy and they do not keep track of the score (Alexie 184). The importance of this event, is that the tribe is extremely ashamed of him leaving, however, towards the end of the novel, Rowdy realizes that Junior is still the same person regardless of his atrocious choices and immediately receives forgiveness. Likewise, if he transfers back, many people from the Spokane tribe will appreciate and approve of his ways. This validates that he is fully accredited to be exempt from his mistakes. All in all, Junior makes a very bad choice of betraying the reservation, making Junior a traitor, who suffers from the consequences and loses out on opportunities to gain forgiveness from his ... • 15. Junior Council Report I have chosen to run for next year's Junior Council because I believe I can make a positive impact on my class and improve the Marin Catholic community. I want to be involved in all the positive ways Marin Catholic improves people lives. For me the transition from middle school to high school was a large leap and I still see some classmates struggling with making new friends and adapting to a busier high school life. If I were to be elected I would try to change this by providing easily accessible study sessions that are available to the whole class. It is ideas like this and others that I have heard from fellow peers that I want to estate so that my class can become a closer and more supportive community. I have held multiple leadership roles inside and outside of Marin Catholic in the past two years. I have been a leader on my JV waterpolo team, my work colleagues, and in the Marin Catholic Interact Club. From last spring to this winter I was a lifeguard at a local swimming and tennis club, during these months I leaved valuable skills in communication and work ethic. I also want the junior class to become more an extended family than just a class so that everyone will be happy to come to school. • 17. The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Youth Participation In... The sport of tennis is often thought of as a "country club" sport – limited only to the wealthy and elite. Due to its financial requirements, people who are less fortunate are often denied opportunities to play. Substantial expenses that accumulate from lessons, equipment, and membership fees deter potential players from participating. Inner–city youth are underrepresented due to lack of attainable resources and programs. Aside from financial limitations, many junior athletes favor the characteristics of team sports such as football, soccer, and basketball over the independence and isolation of an individual sport like tennis. Not to mention, team sports are often far less costly. Due to these drawbacks and perceptions, prospective junior tennis athletes are often more inclined to take the route of a different sport. I believe that youth participation in tennis is deteriorating. As an avid tennis player and advocate for the sport, I identify this as a major problem. Discovering practical methods that introduce and attract younger players to tennis is crucial in expanding participation. Broadening accessibility to tennis, demonstrating its positive values, and targeting specific ethnic and social groups are worthy solutions in reversing the negative trend. Inner–city kids are some who have the most difficulty becoming involved in tennis. A large majority of these kids don't come from an economic background capable of providing expenses required for participation in the sport. Talented underprivileged kids may never have the opportunity to go to a country club and take lessons. More often than not, urban areas lack the facilities and money to provide tennis programs for their kids. This economic deficit becomes a major challenge for impoverished kids who want to learn tennis. As a result, inner–city youth neglect even the thought of playing tennis, and become underrepresented as a part of the junior tennis community. By finding a way to give the inner–city kids of poorer, urban areas the opportunities to take part in tennis, we can expect to see participation of youth rise. One practical method to encourage the involvement of inner–city kids is to implement tennis programs in public schools. By introducing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. The Key Challenge For Academic Achievement Prompt 5: Describe the most significant challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to overcome this challenge. How has this challenge affected your academic achievement? Most children grow up fearing the dark or scary monsters in the closet. I grew up fearing my dad and his alcoholism. When I was in the third grade, my dad always drove me home from school, and I prayed to God every day that he would be sober. His breath always reeked of alcohol, and his eyes were constantly bloodshot red. As a child, I didn't understand the consequences of alcohol until one day, during the ride home, my dad swerved onto multiple lanes, resulting in loud, alarming sirens. I remember being in the backseat of his car with my eyes closed, hoping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How have you developed and demonstrated that talent over time? Patience is a virtue, but to me, it is a skill. It has become a trait that I possess in my relationships with others. As a former assistant to a private tutor, I was granted the opportunity to teach a variety of students, ranging from kids who just learned how to add and subtract to those who know how to calculate the slope of a tangent line. One of my students, Kyle, was a 10–year–old boy who struggles with dyslexia. Words that were simple for others his age to read were difficult for him to understand. From this, I understood the importance of having patience and multiple perspectives. Every day, I helped Kyle with his homework, and every day I saw the frustration on his face when he had difficulty reading. I learned to have patience with not only with him but also myself. I had to put myself in Kyle's shoes and try not to get frustrated when he couldn't read a word in order to find the best method of teaching him. Over time, his reading improved and he slowly was able to differentiate his letters. He no longer confused his d's with his b's and his q's with his p's. With this, Kyle made me realize that I was making a difference in someone else's life as well as my own by opening my eyes to the possibility of working with children in the future. Patience is difficult to maintain which is why I consider having patience a talent. It is not something inherent in most people's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There this one question that has been constantly repeating itself on my head. Am I ready for junior year? I been asking this question to myself constantly this school year. I believe that I'm not ready for junior year. The reason why I'm saying this is because I feel like there a lot more concepts to know of to be certified to myself that I'm ready for junior year. Which is understandable to me because I know myself if I'm ready or not. Moreover, I believe that there's still a lot to learn. Last year this question had come up around this time period which around that time I thought was ready for sophomore year. However, I was wrong because later on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Junior officers must know how to deal with administration, division proficiency, seamanship. A junior officer will only go as far, as their first chief will take them. Perhaps the reason the division officer does not reach out for the chief is because he had a bad experience with the chief's mess, and is scared of the "goat locker". According to the East Asian Youth, there are two kinds of Asian guys: the smart, athletic kind and the cool, lenient kind. I don't fit under neither types and as a result, I became self–conscious of the way I act, not to also mention my overweight body. I didn't know how to be myself while conforming to the stereotypes. That's when I discovered Kpop, or Korean Pop Culture. I immersed myself into the music, the dramas, and even the food. I found a second home, even if it was through my computer. This will already be mentioned in the first section but this will be in depth research on such "differences," and this section will actually require me to use a lot of YouTube videos. This section will have me using a lot of react videos where "Americans" react to Kpop or vice versa. The fourth section is the real deal: the mula. Where does the money come in from, where does the money go to, why is so much money being spent, etc. For my last section this will be where my conclusion is formed. If an average Westerner were to be asked of a successful music artist, they might think of a band like Coldplay. Over this time, a lot of changes have happened in the Kpop community but the most outstanding change was how much more popular Korean music has become worldwide. Kpop has been around since the 90's but has recently become much more popular globally with thanks to the internet and social media. Globalisation and its effects have been amplified extremely by the Internet which has facilitated communications between different groups of people on a global scale. Sites such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube have allowed Korean artists to reach a new, much larger audience and achieve global success. The surge in the visibility of Korean culture has been coined 'The Korean Wave' or 'Hallyu' which translated literally means the flow of Korea. The Hallyu wave first began by the spread of Korean dramas being televised in other areas of Asia and continued to grow once Kpop artists began utilising social networking services and in particular YouTube. Much of the Hallyu Wave's success can be attributed to the video sharing website. YouTube has allowed Korean (and other nationalities) artists to post their content online and be viewed by the larger overseas audience. As of 2012, the most viewed video that has ever been uploaded to YouTube is a Korean pop music video, holding a world record for the achievement and now totalling over 1 billion views. Here are some simple things that you can do to help reduce the cost of your schooling. One way to greatly decrease the price of your education is to start off with community college. A junior college is much cheaper than a university, but they usually offer the same core curriculum. You can go to a local school for your first couple of semesters and get your basics out the way. Activities for the average youngster these days include swimming lessons, baseball, football, gymnastics, and ballet. All of these options are great for interaction with their friends, time alone for their parents, and exercise, but there is an option that can be equally as fun that can have a great impact on the child 's future. This option is tennis, a truly great individual sport, that can truly be a money making opportunity. Don 't get me wrong, I 'm not saying to force your children to play tennis, however if they try it and like it, then it is a perfect scenario. I picked up a tennis racket for the first time at the age of 18. Within a year, I could have made the team at any high school in my city; however I was already in college. By the time I was finishing up college, I could have made the team at some community colleges earning scholarships. It was hard enough just to imagine attempting, let alone succeeding, at a two–year college. Even though, I had wondered what it might have been like to experience dorm life at a college in another town, even state. But, for me, after high school graduation, I was enrolled at the Community College. It didn't take long for me to realize College life probably wouldn't continue. Maybe it was the classes I was enrolled in, maybe it was knowing I needed to find a job, or maybe it was just the excuses I used. Soon the college road, reached a sign that read, 'Dead End Approaching. Detour Ahead. Proceed with Caution'. And with that, college became a distant memory in my rear view mirror. It was during the early part of 2014 that I decided to walk my talk. For years, I told my son he was going to college; he was going to finish and I would make sure he got to. Therefore, the Argentine people were expecting a drastic change to the economic situation with Macri in charge reflected in the falling approval rates for him. Furthermore, Johnathon Kandall's article, "Macri's Magic Act", outlines a key factor hindering Macri's ability to affect the economy, "lack[ing] a congressional majority to back his economic policies" (24) making the drastic changes he promised more difficult to accomplish. • 41. Using Technology Into An Organization Culture View According to a recent LACCD memorandum beginning 2014 all employees will have the opportunity to download their W2 forms directly from the Districts personnel page. The District anticipates that this decision will lower their cost of printing and postage. It will also enable employees to receive financial information quickly and electronically. However, one of the main drawbacks with modifying the organization procedures is that some employees might feel apprehensive to the change. The culture of an organization refers to the "pattern of development reflected in a society's system of knowledge, ideology, values, laws, and day–to–day ritual" (Morgan, 120). In the case of LACCD they must understand how the changes in procedures might alter the culture and shape the views of employees. The ability to integrate technology into an organization depends on the employee's practices, values, and beliefs. It also depends on their ability to learn how to use the technology and willingness to implement the technology. I believe that school leaders should consider integrating technology into an organization in a slow and methodical manner in order to help employees understand the new procedures and give them the opportunity to adapt. This method of integration can help organizations implement their plan and lower employee resistance. The resistance in implementing technology into an organization can significantly increase if it has the potential to impact the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first–wave programs typically involved a bonus for higher education institutions above base state funding. The performance funding bonus was relatively small, between 1 and 6 percent of base state funding for public higher education" (Dougherty and Reddy 201). This policy has been labeled "performance funding 1.0". "The second wave of performance funding began in 2007 with two–thirds of these new programs being re–adoptions of discontinued first–wave programs. In about two–fifths of these wave 2 programs, performance funding typically did not take the form of a bonus on top of regular state funding. • 49. College Should Offer Free Tuition Having a college degree is considered to a vital part of being successful in today's day and age. College degrees are really expensive, but in a long run they really pay off. College can be a big financial burden so with that being said, in my opinion, I think community college should offer free tuition with some sort of standards to be eligible for free tuition. President Barack Obama conveyed a speech at Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan this past September. President Obama proposed a free educational cost at any two–year junior college at length of their stay as long as they were at least half–time students, and they keep up a base evaluation point normal of no less than 2.5 and the administration would cover seventy five percent of the costs to the state getting the remaining total as stated by Silvia Munguia. CQ researcher Silvia Munguia, states that "Although some people may disapprove of the proposal, arguing that the country would lose a lot of money and that offering free community colleges would not necessarily improve our educational system nor guarantee students ' graduation from college, it is definitely a great starting point." I agree with this because at the end of the day, you have to start somewhere. Munguia also states "There are many benefits of making the first two years of college free. If Obama 's proposal passes more people will be able to attend college and be better prepared upon entering the job market. Free community colleges ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

History Of Development Of The Two Year College The history of the development of the two–year college as presented by Cohen and Brawer (1987, 2003), Dougherty (1994), Townsend and Twombly (2001), and Hutcheson (1999) indicates that most two–year institutions started out as junior colleges, providing the first two years of a bachelor 's degree for those living in rural areas without nearby universities and a chance to explore options for those who were undecided about their careers. From the first community college established in 1901 in Joliet, Illinois (Dougherty 1994), the number of community colleges across the United States multiplied until the 1980s. After World War II the GI Bill of Rights promised returning veterans access to higher education. In the 1960s the Johnson Administration used the community college as "a key weapon in its War On Poverty," supporting growth to the extent that "by late in the decade, a new community college opened every week" (Nystrand and Duffy 10). With the Center for Educational Statistics showing enrollments of over 2.1 million students in 654 community colleges as of 1970, more students were beginning their college careers at two–year community colleges than at their four–year counterparts, and by 1980 more than 4.5 million students were enrolled in community colleges (Brint and Karabel 198). I could already smell the fresh new volleyballs for the upcoming season. It was the last day of junior varsity volleyball tryouts. "Hi Amber!" exclaimed Taylor, the junior varsity coach. I waved, sat down, and got my shoes and kneepads on. There were many upperclassmen in the gym ready to make the team they had all made the previous year. To prevent losing my readers, my explanation must be straightforward and not possess any excess "fluff." In addition to sentence length, I also have to ponder on the sentence structure. If I use too many complex sentences, my reader may become confuse. This goes hand–in–hand with the length of my sentences. I will have to mainly stick to simple sentences; allowing my audience to concentrate on the information that I'm trying to convey them rather than expending their energy on trying to figure out what the subject of the sentence ... • 65. Soccer Descriptive Essay Teammate I woke up at six, I didn't get a lot of sleep that night because I was filled with anxiety. It was the last day of soccer tryouts and I wasn't so excited about going. The day before I was informed that I wouldn't be starting the season with varsity which saddened me. I couldn't let that keep me down from trying hard today, for I still needed to prove that I wanted to be there. I packed up all my soccer equipment before eating breakfast. "Good luck today Jack!" my dad said "Go out there and kick ball!" he said with amusement and yet with seriousness. That line was my dad's favorite saying before every soccer activity. He also enjoyed serenading us with words of wisdom before my brother and I left. As we were driving to the high school I thought to myself, it doesn't matter the team I will be on for we are all linked together in a community much larger than you'd think. A teammate, there is a lot of satisfaction in that word for to me it is friendship and having eachothers backs. Being a teammate means everyone is supportive and respectful of each other. The community that is created involves all the families involved in the soccer program. From brothers to sisters, mothers and fathers who were coaches and brought oranges. To me being a teammate on any level of team is perfectly fine to me. We pulled into the parking lot at the high school and gaver each other a nod and walked off to our fields. As I walked over I saw a lot of new faces mostly from the grade ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. Junior Year Junior year was full of many new experiences. We were now classified as upper classmen! Just like any of the other years in high school this year had just as many ups and downs. One of the main stresses in eleventh grade was the SAT. For sure one of the scariest things that I have ever had to do. All of the preparation going into it and the amount of studying made me feel as if I wasn't going to have a brain by the time the testing was over. I took college and career readiness, which really helped prepare me for what was to come. By this time in high school I had already had my job for a little over a month, so I already knew what to expect once school started. I am thankful enough that at my job you get to leave at seven because I hear many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. Attending College : A Terrific And Terrifying Experience Attending college can be a terrific and terrifying experience. It is something can forever alter your path in life. Just imagine, the professors with all the knowledge inside their minds, scheduling our courses hoping that it doesn't get filled too quickly, and the dreaded finals. Then there is the topic concerning whether to attend a community college then transferring to a 4–year university. I believe it should be judged case by case, but not every person can be dropped into the deep end of the pool and survive. For the majority of students, attending a community college prior to a four–year university, would greatly enhance their chances of academic achievement. For veterans, with dreams of using that well–earned "free money" from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there were students that had other priorities at the time, whether it be providing for their child or perhaps some financial issues prevented them from signing up for classes. Whatever the reason, it can be considered a second chance at school to those students in situations of that sort and of a similar fashion. As stated before, college life can extremely nerve wrecking. Especially, to a young adult of 18–20 years of age. Most of us, in that point of lives have no clue as to what want to do. We don't know what want be after college, we aren't really sure of what we would want to study in school. Some individuals can't even decide on what they are going to eat for the most important meal of the day. Junior college can be a help to the younger generation decide on what they want to do with their lives. There are also the students that come from smaller schools. The students that would be used to small classes and suddenly thrust into a course where they end up in a huge room full of other students would be an immense culture shock. Smaller classroom settings could possibly allow a student to get the help that they need by receiving personalized assistance from the professor of that course. Also there are the students from lower income communities. I believe that some of their curriculums do not allow for students to prepare themselves to enter a university, they are more or less preparing them to join the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. The Benefits of Attending a Community College Essay example A look back at the institution of education over the past 20 years will reveal that once upon a time a bachelor's degree was long since considered the marker of ultimate success, the highest level of achievement that one could make in their lives. In those days, if for some reason you failed to march across the stage on graduation day after an epic, four–year stretch of high tuition, long nights studying, and unrelenting professors that found great joy in riding your back, then you had indeed failed at life. Attendance at a technical college or local 2–year school was deplorably referenced to as "loser's territory" and if you dared to enroll in one anyway and followed through to graduation, well you were congratulated but to a lackluster ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By taking these steps, you are in complete control of your education and which directions it will turn in. It will be forward moving rather than stalled and undecided, which can potentially lead to higher bills as a direct result of your extended enrollment beyond the intended 2–year stay. This is not the only way that you can save by going to a community college. Chances are a larger university is not near your home. A school closer to home allows you to stay home and cut your bills another way by eliminating room and board fees and transportation expenses. Driving across town and maintaining your sometimes drastically lower living expenses sounds much better than the usurious bill many find themselves incurring at a larger school miles away from home. Build a Solid Work History Now that more people are earning degrees than they did two decades ago, employers are requiring applicants to have some type of experience listed on their resume if they expect serious consideration of their resume. In the past, all one needed was a crisp degree, bright and shiny, to hand over to a prospective employer to get on a desired company in your respective field. Those days are gone. To be competitive in today's job market, with longevity, you must have referenced experience from someone of power to vouch for your basic job ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. How I Lost The Junior Miss Pageant Short Story In the story, "How I Lost the Junior Miss Pageant" by Cindy Bosley, the narrator tells her story about how she lost the Junior Miss Pageant. She takes us on a journey about how she watched pageants and rated the females as if she was the judge and how she got into the pageant and practiced. She told us about her and her mother's struggles with money, men and ultimately how she lost the pageant. She went even further after the pageant was over, to tell the reader how disappointed her mother was because she did not win and her mother's ultimate sorrow, her loneliness. This descriptive narrative allowed me to understand the text's main point: being accepted by others. The mother definitely wanted people's acceptance because of her weight was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She did the pageant to get her mother's acceptance for one. Her mother always had put her down, "After my mother's never–subtle hints that if I'd just lose 20 pounds boys would like me and I might even win a beauty contest" (Mauk & Metz, 2016, pg. 34). Throughout reading the story, I felt the mother and daughter always had a problem with people accepting them for who they were. The theme about wanting people to accept you is a hard one to talk about because I feel that everyone wants to feel accepted. Some people want that to happen without them changing themselves and some people will change themselves if it means that they're with the rest. Acceptance is what the mother really wants because she's always had problems with men and it hurt that her husband left her for an even heavier woman. The daughter, on the other hand, still wants people to accept her, but she's come to terms with 'reality' that she'll never be the lucky one, "I'd lost this contest at birth...I'd lost the contest in borrowed shoes and an out–of–date dress...I'd lost the contest with the engagement ring on my seventeen–year–old finger" (Mauk & Metz, 2016, pg. 36). The novel, "How I Lost the Junior Miss Pageant" taught the devastating effects of what can happen once you need someone else's approval of yourself. The mother and daughter were both transparent people that wanted a way out from never being seen. When you live your life by training yourself or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
