Define Cause And Effect Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of defining cause and effect can be both challenging and
intellectually stimulating. The difficulty arises from the intricate nature of dissecting and
elucidating the relationship between events or phenomena. To effectively delve into this type of
essay, one must possess a keen analytical mind to unravel the complexities of causation and its
subsequent effects.
Firstly, identifying a clear thesis statement becomes crucial. Pinpointing the central cause-and-
effect relationship to be explored sets the foundation for the entire essay. The challenge lies in
selecting a topic that offers both depth and breadth, ensuring there is ample material to support
the analysis.
Once the topic is established, the writer must navigate the intricate web of causation. This
involves meticulous research and a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
Untangling the various threads of causality demands critical thinking and the ability to discern
primary causes from secondary or tertiary ones.
Structuring the essay is another formidable task. A well-organized framework is essential to
guide the reader through the cause-and-effect analysis. Transitioning seamlessly between the
introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion requires finesse, making sure that each section
flows logically into the next.
Moreover, maintaining a balance between causation and correlation poses an additional
challenge. It is imperative to avoid oversimplification or overcomplication of the relationships
being explored. Striking this delicate balance requires a nuanced approach to ensure the essay
remains both accessible and intellectually rigorous.
In conclusion, crafting a cause and effect essay demands intellectual rigor, critical thinking, and
effective organizational skills. The writer must navigate through a complex web of relationships,
ensuring clarity and coherence in the exploration of causation and its effects. While challenging,
the process can be immensely rewarding for those who are able to master the art of dissecting
and articulating intricate cause-and-effect relationships.

How Does Faber Use Diction In Fahrenheit 451
In the modern day society, books are frowned upon; however, interactive media
such as television and seashell radios are highly encouraged. In Fahrenheit 451,
Professor Faber fears the aftermath of the world without literature and is portrayed
as too cowardly to take action, a Queen bee, safe in the hive (87). Through Faber s
lecture to Montag, Ray Bradburyaggrandizes his pessimistic view on society by using
characterization, diction, and the selection of detail to present the idea that society
relies upon pleasure and happiness so much that literature and common knowledge
are rapidly disappearing. In the midst of the novel, Faber is introduced as a paranoid
man; someone who differentiates from the social norm. He leaps as if to run when
Montag first confronts him; also, Faber continually claims that he hasn t done
anything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Faber first encounters Montag, he claims to talk the meaning of things and
knows he s alive , unlike society (71). Faber also mocks the societal view on
religion by using sarcasm to ponder if God even recognizes his own son, because
Jesus Christ is portrayed only as an actor rather than a religious figure, merely
present for societal pleasure. Bradbury also uses an ironic motif of hearing and
listening to portray the lackadaisical carelessness of fact due to the obsession with
fun and the media (76 87). Montag s society fears literature due to the government s
persuasion of its irrelevance, and Faber blames this on the authors who only wrote to
be famous, metaphoredly comparing the human race to a girl and bad literature to
rape (79). Bradbury purposely uses a negative connotation to emphasize the fatal flaw
within the pleasure society is dependent upon. Bradbury s diction reflects both
negativity and irony through Faber s lecture, and this allows the reader to
contemplate the hamartia within
Ancient Art Of South And Southeast Asia
In early centuries CE, the art of South and Southeast Asia assisted in capturing the
beauty of surrounding cultures. But most importantly, the art helped spread religion
such as Buddhism and Hinduism, into surrounding areas. This religious advance
helped form beautiful pieces featuring important religious figures such as Buddha.
Two examples are the Standing Figure of Buddha by Takht iBahi Gandhara and the
Bodhisattva Maitreya by an unknown artist. Both figures were created in the second
and third centuries CE and stand between forty and forty five inches tall. The height
and time period, however, are not the only similarities between the two. There are
multiple similarities and differences between the Standing Figure of Buddha by Takht
iBahi Gandhara, and the Bodhisattva Maitreya by an unknown artist. The similarities
between the two figures include Buddhist characteristics such as the cranial bump,
nimbus, elongated ears, and draped robe, and the differences include the amount of
detail featured in each piece. The main similarities between the two figures are the
Buddhist characteristics featured in the detail of each sculpture. By Buddhist
characteristics I mean the details found in Buddhist text written by Kushan era
sculptors, that describe the features of a Buddha s body. There are very specific
details or characteristics that must be included in all figures of Buddha to show
respect. Some features and characteristics found in the first sculpture
The Most Beautiful And Hitler Youth Quex
Youths are the leaders of tomorrow. This clichГ© statement is common to both film
in The Most Beautiful by Ichiban Utsukushiku and Hitler Youth Quex by Hans
Steinhoff, yet it holds water. Both the films common theme emphasized the youths of
a fascist regimes. Some of the themes were about being heroic as a youth, ideal goals
for youths, and vitality of the youth. Mosse once wrote both figuratively and literally
that Youths are the leaders, i.e. ones with a lot of influences:
The leaders, too, were young by the standards of that age Mussolini became prime
minister at thirty nine; Hitler attained the chancellorship at forty four. Youth
symbolized vigor and action; ideology was joined to fact... There must have been
many who, like Albert Speer s mother, voted for the Nazis because they were young
and clean cut. (Mosse 70)
Literally, many of the leaders were young, and figuratively many youths becomes
leader. However, these two film differ in message in its propaganda. Hitler Youth
Quex differ by devotion to a political party, meanwhile The Most Beautiful differ in
diligence and goals, i.e. war efforts. Even so, one would have to look critically at
the time period each of the film sets. Overall, comparing these two films will explore
how the elements of the youth oriented films can be an effective measure of
propaganda. In the exposition of the film, The Most Beautiful clearly expresses that it
is during wartime periods. This launches the reasoning behind the messages the film

Motifs In The Green Lantern
The Green Lantern is a good movie to analyze the presence of ancient hero motifs
in modern film. Throughout, The Green Lantern, the protagonist and central hero
of the film Hal Jordan embodies many of the character motifs of ancient heroes
such as opposition, help from others, tokens of recognition, and rewards while also
neglecting some of these classic motifs. Typical of most heroes, Hal Jordan
receives a lot of opposition from the government, the people and guardians of Oa,
and from the main villains Dr. Hammond and Parallax. The government faces a
threat to Hal Jordan because they are searching for him in order to discover his
involvement with Abin Sur, the extraterrestrial Green Lantern whom crashed into
Earth and was able to pass the ring onto Jordan. After receiving the power of the
ring Jordan deals with the criticism and skepticism from fellow core members as
well as the guardians of Oa, who don t listen to Jordan s advice about the power of
fear. The most prevalent opposition is that of Dr. Hammond and Parallax who both
possess the power of fear. Parallax the greater danger of the two is extremely
powerful and tries to devour and feed off of Earth but with the power of will Jordan
is able to defeat Parallax. Even though Jordan is able to overcome many obstacles...

by the rings and lanterns. These pieces which contain Jordan s power are also
symbolic of the hero s tokens of recognition on the planet Oa. Another symbol of
recognition is the coat of arms that his suit creates when he is the Green Lantern
which lets others now he is from Earth. With the ring Jordan is able to draw on the
power of willingness which enables him to complete heroic exploits. As the Green
Lantern Jordan embodies the hero role of a savior. Jordan s two main heroic
exploits involved saving a group of people from Dr. Hammond and also destroying
Parallax to save the Earth from being consumed the
Little Canada, Questions And Answers
Question 1: Why are you interested in this position?
From what I have learned city governments provide some of the most challenging,
dynamic, learning centric environments where opportunities to make a difference
abound through numerous opportunities. Often from what I have seen the staff is
smaller, and so is the budget and other resources and yet the issues that arise didn t
shrink as well, so creative and quick solutions are more frequently needed. I want to
start building experience working in government and I want to do it at the local level
because I see meaningful and challenging work. Moreover I have spent many years
developing excellent skills, including communication, problem solving and research
capabilities and working in Little Canada will allow me to take the next step while
doing something that matters to Minnesotans. This important job will give me the
opportunity I have been seeking to further develop my skills while offering my love
for creative solutions when the opportunity arises. From what I have read thus far the
Little Canada government favors people who consistently deliver simple and sound
solutions to problems in a timely and professional manner. This is why I want to

This position covers a wide area of responsibility and my background has both
taught me to thrive in this environment and more importantly show me that it s
where I am happiest because while there will be recurring duties each day will
provide unique challenges and opportunities to shine. Also I either have
experience at or above what is requested in job description and in the few areas I may
seem to be lacking I have some transferable experiences or skills that coupled with
my adaptability will give you what you need in a City Clerk in the coming years.

Chemistry Coursework
How Concentration Affects a Reaction
Aim:
The aim of this experiment is to find out how concentration affects the rate of reaction
between Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium
Thiosulphate.
Introduction:
This experiment will be carried out by drawing a cross on a piece of paper and
mixing hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulphate together to see if the cross
disappears. The concentration of hydrochloric acid would change every reaction to
show that concentration effects a reaction. The time in which the cross took to
disappear would be recorded as well as the temperature at the start and end of the
reaction, the concentration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sunlight could affect the speed therefore the experiment will take place in the
shade, so that temperature shouldn t change the reaction speed, we will check by
using a thermometer. Also the same amount of hydrochloric acid and sodium
thiosulphate will be mixed each time so that the concentration changes will affect
the same amount of hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulphate. The concentration
of the hydrochloric acid will be changing each time to test if it speeds up a
reaction. The speed for the light intensity to drop by 10% will be measured after
each attempt so that the affects of concentration changes can be recorded. Each
concentration will be tested three times and an average will be worked out, to see
if there were any anomalies within the experiment. If one result is out of line with
the others then that will be easily identified using graphs and tables. The
concentration has been picked so that there is a range from 0.25M to 2M, at
intervals of 0.5M, 1M, 1.25M and 1.5M.
Prediction:
I predict that the higher the concentration the faster the reaction will take place
meaning the light intensity will drop by 10%. This is because the more concentrated
the hydrochloric acid is the more particles there are to collide, therefore more
effective collisions to break old bonds and make new bonds. 0.25M concentration
would be the slowest reaction and 2M would be the

negative functions (breaking of communications, punishing of unauthorized

more effective (Utopian, perhaps). This disciplinary part of the Panopticonhad
operated throughout the ages. Disciplinary institutions, whether they be military,
educational, or religious, flourished in the classical years. And what processes were
involved that led to this important piece of a Panoptical machine, you may ask? First,
was the functional inversion of the disciplines. This simply means that what started
out as one thing became totally different. For example, the military started out as a
Description Of An Old Railway Station Essay
Scenario:
A property developer is converting an old railway station into retail and office
accommodation. The client is keen to make the working environment for the staff as
comfortable as possible. As a consultant, explain how this can be done by addressing
the relevant grading criteria.
To begin with this assignment I will have a look at and discuss an old railway station.
I hope to change this railway station into a small office block with a small spar
shop also in the building. Now I will begin and work through the assignment always
bearing in mind the changes required from railway station to retail office. The
railway station is very old and is hard to heat, so there will have to be a lot of work
done to make the building a comfortable space for people to work. There is also not
great lighting in the area so I will have to consider that when I am contracting the
building plan.
The basic factors that will influence human comfort in the office accommodation in

As humans we produce excess heat all the time, this heat is a by product of the
metabolic process that we all go through every minute of every day, we must lose
excess heat to keep the body temperature at 37oC. As we lose this heat it enters the
outer environment and raises the room temperature .We lose most body heat by
convection, by radiation and by evaporation of sweat. We lose very little body heat
by conduction. When the sweat evaporates from
Climate Warming And Climate Change Essay
It is well known that politics and religion are two topics to never to be discussed
with someone one does not know well. In today s society, it feels as if this list of
topics that are socially deemed inappropriate to discuss seems to be growing, with
climate change now being a conservation to avoid. This aversion to discussing
climate change appears to stem from the fact that the issue tends to polarize opinions,
in which people fall into one of two groups: climate change skeptics and climate
change believers. This paper seeks to address and analyze the ways in which climate
skeptics speak about and understand climate change as well as how climate scientists
understand climate change phenomena. More specifically, this paper focuses on how
climate skeptics comprehend the relationships between grasslands, livestock, methane
and nutrient cycling and how these interconnected concepts do not lead to the type of
climate change that green urbanities /green politicians/green activists/green elite
predict. The paper will conclude with an evaluation of the two differing positions
between climate skeptics and climate scientists, in which I will determine which
argument I find to be the most accurate. According to Viv Forbes and Albrecht
Glatzle, an earth scientist/farmer and agronomist respectively, in their article The
Battle for our Grasslands and Livestock , there are many positive impacts that
grasslands, grazers, and livestock provide for humans and the environment. Moreover,
Who Is Sydney Carton A Dynamic Character
Sydney Carton, one of the most dynamic characters of the book, indulges himself
with wine and depression, however furthermore represents himself as a dynamic
character due to his eagerness to preserve happiness in Lucie Manette and Charles
Darnay. The anger that persists in Carton s mind is evident of hatred towards
Charles Darnay due to the fact that Darnay is who Carton wanted to be, and now
believes he has wasted his life. In fact, he fills himself with pure hatred and despair,
saying [he] shall sink lower, and be worse and he is like one who died young
(Dickens 149 and 150). This oversaturated mentality, filled with oblivious thoughts,
proves his instability and represents one who can t reach his desire. Sydney Carton

What Do Acids And Bases Of Varying Ph Levels Have On

What effect do acids and bases of varying PH levels have on the efficiency of
catalase? Catalysts are an extremely important part of the experiment, but to
understand catalyst you first must understand Activation energy. Activation Energy is
the minimum amount of energy that is required to activate atoms or molecules to a
condition in which they can undergo chemical transformation or physical transport.
(Encyclopedia Britannica, activation energy | chemistry ). A Catalyst is is a
substance which speeds up a reaction, but is chemically unchanged at the end of
the reaction. When the reaction has finished, you would have exactly the same
mass of catalyst as you had at the beginning. A catalyst provides an alternate route
for a reaction, one which has lower activation energy, there for speeding up the
reaction by requiring the reaction to need less energy to begin, but only in specific
conditions will they work to their full potential. (Clark, The effect of catalysts on
rates of reaction ) An enzyme is a catalyst in living organisms, regulating the rate at
which chemical reactions proceed without it being altered in the process . Catalysts
work optimally in certain PHs, and can be altered when in temperatures and PHlevels
that are different then what they are used to (http://www.britannica.com/science

catalyst in a reaction. Materials can be considered acids or bases depending on their

McCarthyism looks like he has had a fear of the situation revolving the red scare.
The red scare went above and beyond and lead communists to a position that people
really didn t think it was ever going to be possible to reach. Mr. McCarthy is a
senator that started taking actions of his own to go ahead and look for United
States citizens that were supporting and cheering on the communist for his benefit.
The red scare was already a big time situation that had everyone on their feet scared
of different possible outcomes within our own society. McCarthy will only be
making our society more terrified and not going the right path. McCarthy started
his journey to find these U.S Citizen that said were communist through the
department of state. While getting in their mission was to go for bigger groups
and wanted to target the military. Once he saw and realized that his mission can
possibly fail, he decided to target Hollywood movie companies. By doing so, he
boycott a few famous actors which was later known to the public as Black
Hollywood List. He targeted actors as well as productions and writers. McCarthy
then created another Black Hollywood list that promoted ten famous actors which
he believed were communist which made more publication and talk. This led to
famous Hollywood actors to lose their jobs and positions on roles with production
companies. These actors became the actual target which led to the end of their
acting careers.Mr. McCarthy went against many amendments of this country. This
whole time his focus has been to force innocent people into helping him find
different communist for no positive result. He obviously does not have the support
of the group of people he left jobless including the middle and needy class. He
continues to do wrong acts that are only being supported by the rich. He needs to be

A Russian Empress for thirty four years,
during which Russia became a world super power.
When Catherine II, seized the Russian throne from her less than perfect husband,
Peter III, she had absolutely no right to it! She wasn t even born a Russian, nor was
her name Catherine at first. In fact, her birth name was Sophia Augusta Fredericka of
Anhalt Zerbst.
She was a German princess, who was ignored by her parents as a child for being a
girl. That is why her French governess, Mme Babet Cardel, covered the task of

After the empress died, Peter became emperor of Russia, but was losing popularity
with Russia s people, nobles and peasants alike. He would wear a Prussian army
uniform, and order his regiments to do the same.
So it was no surprise to anyone that six months into his reign, Peter was overthrown,
and with the help of the Imperial Guard, Catherine was crowned empress of all
Russia. Everyone pledged his or her allegiance to Catherine, who was a much better
ruler than the weak and incompetent Peter.
Catherine let Peter live, but six days later, he was found murdered. It was an
accident, but many people believed that Catherine had personally ordered for Peter s
death. With Peter dead, Catherine set out to start her job as empress, and improve her
new country.
First, she set up a new government by revoking almost all of Peter s acts. She
based Russia s government on European principals, and wrote the guidelines for a
new code of laws, which she felt was long overdue. The first law that she made was
to make sure that nobody else would ever share her title, for she believed in having
one ruler who had absolute power over his or her country. Many more laws were yet
to come. This new code of laws was what made Catherine known as an enlightened
and modern ruler.

Cellular Respiration Lab Report
This experiment tested the hypothesis that there was no difference between
cellular respiration before vigorous exercise and cellular respiration after vigorous
exercise in terms of rate of cellular respiration. During cellular respiration, glucose
broke down into carbon dioxide in order to convert the chemical energy stored in
glucose into usable energy in ATP. Cells did not perform cellular respiration to
create carbon dioxide, for carbon dioxide was a byproduct, and thus, carbon dioxide
was released. In this experiment, the carbon dioxide was bubbled through water and,
as a result, formed carbonic acidwhen carbon dioxide and water reacted. Since acids
donate hydrogen ions, carbonic acid a weak acid dissociated in water, which formed...

the time was recorded in a table as the subject s resting clearing time.
Next, a timer was set to five minutes, and the subject exited the lab room. As soon
as the timer started to count down from five minutes, the subject begun their
exercise, which consisted of running laps around building on the second floor.
When the timer reached zero, the subject returned to the lab room and sat down in
front of the second Erlenmeyer flask filled with prepared solution that sat on top of
a white piece of regular printer paper. The timer was set to zero, and then, as soon as
the timer was started, the subject blew into the straw until the solution appeared clear,
which was when the stopwatch was stopped. Then, the time was recorded as the
subject s working clearing time. In the entire class, there were a total of twenty
participants; the twenty subjects consisted of both male and female students of
varying ages and various races, including White and Hispanic descent. We determined
the class mean of resting and working clearing time, excluding four outliers.

Would you rather be prosperous and disheartened or common and jovial with your
life? Joe Gargery showed that wealth doesn t define one s personality but personality
defines ones wealth, Miss Havisham shows that wealth is everything but that
emotions don t matter, and Jaggers shows that some gentlemen have dispirited lives
despite all of their riches. Characters in the novel such as Joe Gargery, Miss Havisham
, and Jaggers represent that life is not always perfect whether someone is rich or
poor. In the novel, Great Expectations, Charles Dickens uses the element of fortune
and social class to show the dynamic of how wealth doesn t guarantee contentment.
Joe Gargery, Pip s brother in law and a benevolent blacksmith , is very satisfied
with his status as a member of the lower class. He believes that he s wrong out of
the forge (224) and well off working in what he senses is his rightful place. In an
unqualified, typical lower class setting Joe is contented and able to be himself, but

Miss Havisham s mansion, Satis House, a vast dissimilarity from his own modest
home. Joe targets all his answers to Miss Havisham s queries at Pip, displaying
abnormal uneasiness and a great politeness (99). Joe, in all his inelegance around
rich personalities and having no material wealth himself, is impeccably able to find
cheerfulness. Joe Gargery really doesn t worry if he s the underprivileged or

Canada Political Parties
My Opinion On Voting Canadian political parties
The NDP in my opinion, is the best party to vote for. I know, New Democrats know,
that is is possible to grow our economy while protecting our environment, (Tom
Mulcair speech at iVote May 2015.) The following reasons why I support the New
Democratic Party are. Their belief of not leaving anyone behind, the way they plan to
grow the economy and how they will help preserve the environment.
Firstly, The NDP s main goal, To build a better Canada
, where no one is left behind.
Meaning they will support the less fortunate Canadians and help elevate them into a
better social class. They will support the lower class by taxing the richer population,
closing the income gap. This approach I suspect ... Show more content on

The NDP will re prioritize the goals Canada has and treat global warming seriously,
facing it now rather than ignoring and letting it spiral out of control in the future.
The NDP will combat this by investing in the production of clean tech. By 2020, the
global market for Cleantech is estimated to be over 3 trillion. Another plan the
NDP have is to ensure the construction of future national parks, protecting the
ecosystems and create new jobs at the same time. They want to increase the
amount of emissions tax corporations pay as well as decrease the limit they already

Everyday Use Is A Life Lesson And A Realistic Story
Everyday Use is a short story that is both a life lesson and a realistic story. A
mother and her daughter Maggie both live in a little southern home where their
lifestyle is a little outdated than the rest of the modern world, Mama also had a
daughter named Dee, instead of living with her mother and sister she decided to
go to college and live stylishly with the modern world. The real conflict in the
story is when Dee decides to go home, and when things get out of hand, the reader
figures out that Dee and Maggie have some similarities however they are far from
being alike in any way. The two sisters love each other dearly but the differences
between the two are what makes them who they are and while one sister does not
agree and decides to run from the situation, the other realizes and respects the other
because that is in her nature and she knows how her sister can be. The differences of
the two sisters are shown physically, mentally, and as well as the way they feel as
what is right. This short storygives a lot of real life lessons in respect and loyalty
towards being a part of a family. Dee who is also known as Wangero, is the eldest
daughter in this short story, in the beginning of the story Mama starts to describe
Dee and how her personality is. This shows a lot about the character because the
mother knows a lot about her daughter, Dee has always been the kind of girl who
feels the need to live in a modern lifestyle, and keeps up to date on the newest trends.

Essay on the American Dream Revised in Song of Solomon
The American Dream Revised in Song of Solomon
America was founded on the belief that all men are created equal. However, a
question must be posed which asks who constitutes men and what is equal ? Africans
were taken from their country and enslaved in America. They had to fight to retain
dignity and grace in circumstances that were deplorable. Even slaves who were well
taken care of were not able to realize the dream of being free again.
In her work, Song of Solomon, Toni Morrison relates a story of the dream of
Milkman. Although he is not a slave, Milkman is enslaved by the fact that as a child,
he was forced to participate in a shameful act that he wanted no part of. Even his
nickname was derived from this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of letting the situation be and making apologies, He comes to me with some
way out tale of how come and why (76). Milkman did not want to participate in this
discussion, but he had no choice.
Milkman must go on a difficult journey. He was never a slave. His family has
money and education; however, Milkman is not satisfied. He longs to be
connected to his past. He leaves everything behind to discover his roots, and his
journey, though it leads to his death, is accomplished for he is free. His dream has
been reached, but he cannot reap its benefits. Milkman cannot enjoy the success he
shares with his family until he finds his people from the South. He retraces the
history that he gathered from his family and recounts it to his people in Georgia
where he discovers more truth and more myths. This revisiting of his roots is a
characteristic of Africans, even if they are not direct descendants of Africa. Their
dream cannot be accomplished until they are sure where their people belonged
centuries before the recent generations existed.
Pilate is a prime example of not existing in a traditional family setting. When their
father died, Macon and Pilate were separated and sent to live with relatives or, in
Pilate s case, live a nomadic life traveling from place to place. They had no contact
with each other because of a disagreement that occurred a few days after their father
was murdered. Pilate
The Abortion Of The Fetus
I am going to argue that its is right to claim that, even if a fetus is a person, abortion
is still permissible when one s risk in health/stability/happiness is threatened. I believe
that any woman, who houses the fetus inside her body for estimated nine months
have the right and the choice to abortion when it is for one s health, stability and
happiness for both the mother and the unborn fetus. Thomson s argument is entitled
as Defense to Abortion. I agree to Thomson and her argument when it comes to
aborting a fetus, even if a fetus is a person. Yes, it has it s own DNA, and it s own
life but when it threatens the house that it stays in, which in this case would be the
woman/mother s womb, I believe the abortion of the fetus, is permissible.
Thomson states it cannot be seriously thought to be murder if the mother performs
an abortion on herself to save her life. (Thomson, Defense on Abortion, pg6)
Thomson gives an example of a violinist being plugged into another human, using
their blood in high hopes of survival by that person s kidneys extracting the poison
from the violinist s blood. The person never agreed to do such, being that it was
decided by the Society of Music Lovers; but did not go against it by detaching
himself from the violinist knowing that it can cause death. This explains that there
are events where we don t have much of a freedom of choice when there is a
conscious person/life involved meaning, when there is a conscious life in our hands,

Common and Preferred Stock
How do Corporations raise capital? All of the large corporations could not have
grown to their present size without being able to find innovative ways to raise
capital to finance ultimate expansion. There are many ways this can be
accomplished, but this review will take a look at just two ways: the issuance of
Preferred Stock and selling of Common Stock. What exactly is a stock, anyway?
Basically, stock is ownership, simple as that. Buy a share of APPLE Inc. and acquire

In contrast to a Common Stock, a company may choose to issue Preferred Stock to
raise capital. Preferred Stock represents a hybrid in the sense that it is an equity
interest with certain features resembling debt. Buyers of these shares have special
status in the event the underlying company encounters financial trouble. A typical
preferred shareholder doesn t vote on the composition of the company s board or
other matters. They are more interested in receiving regular dividends, since these
dividends do not fluctuate based on the company s profits; each preferred
shareholder is entitled to a fixed amount at certain periods, just so long as the
company has the money to do so. Dividends are, also, paid to preferred
stockholders before they are paid to common stockholders. Preferred stock is
issued with a specific dividend rate. The dividend rate may be stated as a dollar
amount or as a percentage of the par value. When dividends are paid, preferred
stockholders are paid the amount applicable to their class of preferred stock. Several
advantages to issuing preferred stock include: no dilution of management s interest in
corporate growth or in voting power (if non voting preferred stock is issued), and
predictable dividend payments and preferences upon liquidation (for which investors
may pay a premium). Although, disadvantages include: a

that the journalist is being told what they do wrong and how they should try to fix it.

By random, a reference librarian was interviewed using either technique by an
interviewer trained in both.
The dependent variables: (1) the number of events elicited per each interview
(efficiency), and (2) the degree of completeness of details recalled per event
(effectiveness) were examined.
Cognitive interview was found to be both more effective and more efficient than
standard interviewing techniques in eliciting episodic knowledge from reference
librarians. In order for the cognitive interview to be considered an effective
interviewing technique, more than one rater must determine that the degree of
completeness of details of the events collected under the CI are higher than those
collected under the SI.
All interviews were conducted in private rooms individually. The interviews were
conducted at the institute of each patron. Ten students enrolled in a senior level
expert system class who received training on the SI and the CI during regularly
scheduled class time. No one involved knew of the details of the experiment or the
types of techniques being tested. Interviewers received course credit and monetary
compensation for their participation.
The interview has long been part of the systems professional s repertoire of
elicitation tools, used extensively in both requirements analysis and knowledge
acquisition. It is said that there are some drawbacks associated with the use of

Headscarf Controversy
French media coverage of the headscarf controversy perpetuates considerable
misunderstanding of Islam and thus the politics of secularism extend to media
framing of the tension between religious minorities and the non religious in a
society where secular is hegemonic. In 1989, in a small town outside of Paris, three
girls were expelled for wearing Hijabs. The girls were in no way disruptive, or
incapable academically, however, the event became significant to the reframing of
the headscarf as a ;veil; or misrepresentation as a chador through and by the media.
Furthermore, public intellectuals in the media promoted concerns regarding Iran

Commercialisation goes hand in hand with sponsorship and treats athletes as
commodities.
For e.g. Cristiano Ronaldo wears NIKE shoes to promote the brand. He is being
treated as an asset to the NIKE Company through product endorsement which helps to
bring increased sales and more publicity for products.
There are advantages and disadvantages of commercialisation that affect sports. The
advantages are essential funding alternative for sporting organization and events
(substantial funding either for the operations or sponsorship of a particular event or
an athlete will be helpful and eradicate the need to be constantly source for a variety
of funding resources), alternative revenue source for athletes
(revenue sources may encourage more athletes to consider a full time career or be
moving from the semi professional level to the professional level), increase media
exposure of a sport and its athletes (help to raise the profile of the sport and bringing
in more sponsors for the sporting organisation and its athletes), exposing sporting
activity to a wider audience (bringing in new fans of a sport and thereby increasing
spectatorship and participation) and development opportunity for both the sport and
its athletes (helps sports
Workplace Discrimination And Its Effects On Social...
Workplace discrimination is still prevalent and could have disastrous effects on
social cohesion and political stability if it continues unchecked. While the most
blatant forms of discrimination at work may have faded, many remain a persistent
and daily part of the workplace, or are taking on more subtle forms. Every day,
around the world, discriminationat work is an unfortunate reality for hundreds of
millions of people. Women are by far the largest discriminated group, with the pay
gap between the sexes still significant in most countries. Racial discrimination also
persists, though older theories of the purported superiority of one racial or ethnic
group over another have been replaced by allegations that foreign and incompatible
cultures may have disruptive effects on the integrity of national identities. New forms
of discrimination based on disability, HIV/AIDS, age or sexual orientation have now
become cause for growing concern.
Inequalities within discriminated groups are widening. Affirmative action policies,
for example, helped create a new middle class of formerly discriminated persons in
some countries. A few rise to the top of the social ladder, while most remain among
the low paid and socially excluded. Discrimination often traps people in low paid,
informal economy jobs. The discriminated are often stuck in the worst jobs, and
denied benefits, social protection, training, capital, land or credit. Women are more
likely than men to be engaged in these more
Seattle Pitting Research Paper
On March 23, 1954, Seattle newspapers reported citizens finding pits and glass
bubbles within their car windshields at a town 80 miles from Seattle. Police
investigated and initially brushed it off as vandalism, albeit without much proof. It
did not seem like a serious case, after all...until more reports of similar damages
popped up on April 14th from another town 65 miles away, and on that same evening,
in Seattle itself. Hundreds of people phoned Seattle police between the 14th and 15th,
reporting the same pittings and dings in their windshields. Seattle citizens entered a
state of confusion and paranoia, to the point where the mayor had begun to look to
President Eisenhower for help when not even the police could find the cause for this.

Such dire sounding headlines only fueled the people s fear of nuclear war more.
Upon hearing news of the affected fishermen and the sheer power of such H
bombs, people began to fear not only of other countries, like Soviet Russia, planning
to develop similar, if not more destructive hydrogen bombs, but American bomb
testings affecting them. Following atmospheric testing of hydrogen bombs in 1954,
people in and around Seattle, Washington began to report mysterious pitting damage
to auto windshields. [...] The incident was shortly followed by a nationwide rush to
buy fallout shelter plans (Miller 136) The H bomb testings seemingly spelling
doom, according to 1950s media, did not help survival plans make people feel any
safer, either. The film, Duck and Cover, was shown to schoolchildren beginning in
1950. The cartoon turtle, the cheerful theme song, and the practical advice were
supposed to reassure children who might worry about an atomic attack. Instead, the
images of little Johnny diving off his bicycle convinced children that the bombs could
fall at any moment and gave them nightmares (Walbert). The 1950s was a time where
many were scared of being under nuclear attack, children and adults alike. Thus, the
unexplainable windshield pittings in Seattle had people easily jumping to a
conclusion of nuclear fallout being behind the pittings. Those in Seattle who were in
support of this view ... claimed that they found tiny, metallic looking particles about

Critique Of Leo Steinberg s Other Criteria Steinberg
Kyle Hevey | Leo Steinberg Other Criteria Leo Steinberg s Other Criteria focuses
on how America s view on art differs from that of other Countries and many of the
problems that ensue when artists create art in America. Also, how critics and
viewers of art should perceive different pieces and how to cope with differing
views. Steinberg later goes on to discuss the problems with how certain groups of
people can perceive an art piece negatively, when it might not be a negative piece.
Steinberg s style of writing was very difficult to comprehend, I found myself
rereading most things, and only occasionally understanding the concepts he was
trying to convey. He began his piece by addressing two writing pieces published by
Fortune, a magazine about the business side of art. He compared the two pieces, the
first one was written in September 1946 and the second one in December 1955, he
began with the earlier one. The earlier piece was written using a travelogue as the
stylistic model and it talks about, [the] many curious customs to be observed among

Eakins learned to accept that America wasn t very interested in art and behand
treating painting as work. Steinberg compared two of their pictures as an example.
One picture showed Gerome chiseling a woman out of marble and the top half of
her body turned to flesh due to his passion for painting. Eakin s version just
showed the completed woman still as marble and he had already moved on to
another piece. Eakin s piece was adapted to the puritanism of the society in which
he worked. Steinberg explained how some cultures were different than that of
America s. Work is much more respected and understood here. A perfect example
of this is a quote by Claes Oldenburg that he used, John Marin used to feel put down
by taxi cabs, he said to himself: what is my painting worth next to a taxi cab? A taxi
cab is so much more powerful and
Types Of Tissue, Nervous, And Muscular Tissue.epithelial
Tissues Project
There are 4 types of tissue in our body. They are the epithelial, connective, nervous, and
muscular tissue.Epithelial covers the whole surface of the body.It occurs on the
surfaces on the interior of the body. The cells are packed tightly together. There are six
types of epithelial tissue which are simple squamous ,simple cuboidal ,simple
columnar ,stratified columnar ,stratified cuboidal ,pseudostratified
columnar.Epithelial tissue is usually separated from the tissue by a thin sheet of
connective tissue. The connective tissue is a group of tissues in the body that
maintains the form of the body and its organs. It provides cohension and internal
support. The connective has 7 types of tissue. They are loose connective tissue, fibrous
tissue,bone tissue,cartilage,adipose tissue,and blood tissue.The nervous tissue is is
specialised to react to stimuli. Its also conduct impulses to various organs in the
body. There are only two types of nervous tissue, neuron and neuroglial. The neuron are
easily stimulated and transmit impulses very rapidly. They are not sensitive to
stimuli. They do not conduct nerve impulses. The main function of the muscular
system is movement. The three types of muscular tissue is cardiac, skeletal, and
smooth.Cardiac muscle tissue shows some of the characteristics of smooth and of
skeletal. The skeletal is attached to and bring about the movement of the various
bones of the skeleton.Smooth is made up of thin elongated muscle cells, which are
called fibres.

Ghosts In The Turn Of The Screw
Ghost stories are thrilling and suspenseful tales chocked full of fright and elements of
the supernatural that science has trouble explaining. Though some stories contain
frightening events that cause nightmares, others rely on their eeriness and the
fantastical aspect of the belief of the afterlife and beyond. In this particular novella,
no jump scares or moments of horrific nature are conveyed in the text. Instead it is
packed with an air of unknown that is still left intact as the pages of the story come
to a close. Speculation surrounding the actuality of the assumed ghosts is left to the
minds of the reader and is formed on the compelling evidence that is presented
throughout the story and it s plot. In Henry James s Turn of the Screw,... Show more

One of example of which comes from the idea that Flora and Miles are both being
possessed by Miss Jessel and Mr. Quint respectively. At the second lake incident,
when the governess accuses Flora of witnessing the ghost of Miss Jessel, the
governess states that, she was literally, she was hideously, hard; she had turned
common and almost ugly (71). Then, Flora emotionally declares that she has
never seen the ghosts and then hugs and cries to Mrs. Grose almost as if it was a
theatrical production. Due to this ghostly possession, this is possible and thus a
reasonable deduction that proves the ghosts are real and are communicating to the
children, yet not presenting themselves to Mrs. Grose. It also makes the governess
look silly to be discussing the ghosts because nobody else claims they witness any
ghosts during the entire book and especially at a moment where the governess says
that a ghost is there. Besides the fact of the public humiliation of the governess by
those that do not see the ghosts, another factor that the ghosts are affecting are her
ability to sleep properly. Her fear for the children interacting with the ghost has
kept her up, in one situation where she stays up to a late hour and then goes to
check on Miles under her endless obsession (61)). The problem of the ghosts have
not just made the governess lose sleep, they have made the governess obsessed
with saving the kids from the ghosts. It is also present that this puts the governess
on edge and when Miles and Flora act suspiciously strange, she thus believes that
the ghosts are involved in somehow possessing their bodies. Due to this, the fear of
the apparitions reflects onto the children and she becomes afraid of them and whilst
speaking to Miles she writes, My voice trembled so that I felt it impossible to
Holden Caulfield Censorship
In 1951, the public was introduced to sixteen year old Holden Caulfield, a
character created and narrated by J.D. Salinger, in his first novel, The Catcher in
the Rye. Throughout the book s lifetime, it has been a subject of constant debates
and controversies. The novel has only been the target of ridicule and criticisms, but
has also sparked intriguing discussion on its validity for use of high schools (Top
10 Censored Books). The Catcher in the Rye is banned due to meeting the
requirements for censorship. Censorship is the practice of officially examining
books, movies, etc., and suppressing unacceptable parts (Merriam Webster). The
novel centers around the life of the sixteen year old Holden Caulfield. The novel deals
with issues such... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Holden is presented as intolerable to other people, disrespectful, and
hateful. In addition, he is so much into teenage sex as revealed in his words sex is
something I really don t understand too hot. I keep making up these sex rules for
myself and then I break them right away (The Catcher in the Rye.). Hopefully as the
readers unravel the personality of Holden, they estrange his personality for their own.
Consequently his intolerable personality is unacceptable in the society, and the book

Shakespeare Sonnet 130 Tone
Poetry has always had a common theme where lovers are portrayed as goddess
like, based on their beauty and love. However, in William Shakespeare s Sonnet
130, written as an English sonnet, the speaker has a different vision, as he realizes
that his lover s beauty cannot be compared to that of a goddess, nor can it be found
in nature for she is just a typical human being. His love for her is eventually shown,
but without the use of the clichГ© image of beauty. Shakespeare s use of metaphors,
contrast, language and structure demonstrates that love is complicated and that real
beauty is unrealistic and impossible to live up to. Since this poem is an anti love
poem, the speaker is describing ways in which his lover doesn t properly fit into these

The use of the word heaven shows indication that his love for his mistress is higher
than any of the comparisons that he has previously mocked in order to describe
her (Shakespeare 13). The speaker notes that, beyond all of his mistress
imperfections, his love is as rare/As any she belied with false compare
(Shakespeare 13 14). With that being said, it is clear to the reader that, although
she has fallen short to society s vision of perfection, his love for her is endless and
he accepts her for who she is. The speaker proves to the reader that he doesn t need
the assistance from false comparisons, such as comparing her eyes to the sun, to
show just how much he loves her. The word false in line 14 could suggest that the
women described with qualities such as red lips and rosy cheeks aren t accurately
depicted. The speaker recognizes that a women s body should not resemble the
images stated in the earlier lines, so the truth is being used to describe his lover, as
opposed to using false
Similarities Between Judaism And Roman Catholicism
Religion is entwined with every aspect associated in modern society. Religion is
defined as the human beings relation to that which they regard as holy, sacred,
absolute, spiritual, divine, or worthy of especial reverence. Many religions believe in
the same God but practice their religion very differently. Judaism and Roman
Catholicism are two unique religions that have many similarities and differences,
though they both are derived from the same idea of God.
There is a close, but often misleading relationship between Judaism and Roman
Catholicism. The discrepancies are excessive, however, there are many similarities
because Roman Catholicism emerged from Christianity, and Christianity emerged
from Judaism. Though they may have their differences, both religions are rooted
together and share the belief of the same God. I am the Lord thy God, which have
brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have
no other gods before me (Exodus 20:2, 3).
Though descendants of both Judaism and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this time, God made a covenant with Abraham and promised to make his
descendants sacred people and provide them with a holy land (Genesis). I will
make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and kings will

descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to
be God to you and to your descendants after you. I will give to you and to your
descendants after you, the land of your sojourning s, all the land of Canaan, for an
everlasting possession; and I will be their God (Genesis 17 6 8). From Abraham, the
children of Israel were born; which were Jacob and Isaac, the other patriarchs of
Israel. Jacob and Isaac practiced the Jewish religion all the way up to the time of
Moses. The Torah was given to Moses, and he continued with the Judaism religion
My Favorite Quote Analysis
My favorite quote will always be by Sappho in which she says, Someone, I tell you,
in another time will remember us. She was right. She s remembered for being a
gay poet and is immortalized despite a lot of her works not being found completely.
It s one of my favorite quotes because identifying as a nonbinary queer person who
also likes girls, I can relate to Sappho a lot when she writes about her desire for love
and personal heartbreaks. This quote also brings me ease as even in another time
someone will still remember me. I think we all want to leave a legacy of some sort,
and for me I want my legacy to be centered around my experience and
accomplishments as an American born Punjabi artist and social activist, who was
also highly active in the LGBTQ+ community. I want someone to remember me
because it is a vicious cycle that people of color and members of the color in the
LGBTQ+ community get forgotten in history. History is white washed. But the
idea that I will do enough in my life to be remembered in some shape or form,
reminds me that my efforts and failures as a Punjabi artist and social activist are just
part of a legacy I am starting.
Moving on, my strength and determination did not magically appear one day. I had
a lot of amazing people who are a part of my support network who helped show me
what healthy self love and growth is supposed to be. One of the people I will be
highlighting is my AP English teacher. Candice Ligator, was one of the best, and
one of my favorite teachers in my high school career. She was a big part of my
support system when it came to being a trans and queer student who had a lot of
family issues. She was also a big inspiration to me as she told us stories full of
struggles growing as a teacher. She talked about how starting off as a teacher at
first made her cry every night, showing me that it takes persistence to be adept in a
profession. Her choices on the pieces of literature she taught were engaging as they
touched upon feminism, gay rights, and race. This allowed me to explore both my
interest in writing and in social justice. Reading about personal experiences from
Mary Shelley, Oscar Wilde, and Ralph Ellison was inspiring as it allowed me to see
that I can
The Big Bang Theory And Evolution
Creation Theory
A young man who is a senior in college has the opportunity of a lifetime to conduct
research with professors in Israel on geological fossils for his major in Earth
Science. He had never been out of the United States before and only knew what he
had been taught: the big bang theory and evolution. Israel is made up of a very strong
Jewish community and, as this young man would soon find out, they did not view
geological findings through the Big Bang theory, but through the Biblical creation
theory. Due to their disagreements he had traveled to a different country only to fail
to understand his new professor s teachings The United States of America was
founded upon the Christian God but yet teachers are not even allowed to teach about
the Biblical creation theory of how Earth was made. They are forced to only teach
about the big bang theory and evolution. What students are being taught today is only
a scientific theory and can not be proved, so why not at least teach the theory our
nation was founded upon to the students. They are only being taught a single side of
the story with no option to learn any other theory. There are also many parents who
want their children to be exposed to different theories of the Earth s creation. Without
teaching multiple theories, there is no way for children to have an interest sparked in
them to investigate into the many theories that are in existence. Also, it is very
inappropriate in the school setting for the students to

Define Cause And Effect Essay. Cause and Effect Essay Examples of Writing by Sample Essay Medium

  • 1. Define Cause And Effect Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of defining cause and effect can be both challenging and intellectually stimulating. The difficulty arises from the intricate nature of dissecting and elucidating the relationship between events or phenomena. To effectively delve into this type of essay, one must possess a keen analytical mind to unravel the complexities of causation and its subsequent effects. Firstly, identifying a clear thesis statement becomes crucial. Pinpointing the central cause-and- effect relationship to be explored sets the foundation for the entire essay. The challenge lies in selecting a topic that offers both depth and breadth, ensuring there is ample material to support the analysis. Once the topic is established, the writer must navigate the intricate web of causation. This involves meticulous research and a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Untangling the various threads of causality demands critical thinking and the ability to discern primary causes from secondary or tertiary ones. Structuring the essay is another formidable task. A well-organized framework is essential to guide the reader through the cause-and-effect analysis. Transitioning seamlessly between the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion requires finesse, making sure that each section flows logically into the next. Moreover, maintaining a balance between causation and correlation poses an additional challenge. It is imperative to avoid oversimplification or overcomplication of the relationships being explored. Striking this delicate balance requires a nuanced approach to ensure the essay remains both accessible and intellectually rigorous. In conclusion, crafting a cause and effect essay demands intellectual rigor, critical thinking, and effective organizational skills. The writer must navigate through a complex web of relationships, ensuring clarity and coherence in the exploration of causation and its effects. While challenging, the process can be immensely rewarding for those who are able to master the art of dissecting and articulating intricate cause-and-effect relationships. For those seeking assistance with essays or similar tasks, a variety of resources are available. • 4. How Does Faber Use Diction In Fahrenheit 451 In the modern day society, books are frowned upon; however, interactive media such as television and seashell radios are highly encouraged. In Fahrenheit 451, Professor Faber fears the aftermath of the world without literature and is portrayed as too cowardly to take action, a Queen bee, safe in the hive (87). Through Faber s lecture to Montag, Ray Bradburyaggrandizes his pessimistic view on society by using characterization, diction, and the selection of detail to present the idea that society relies upon pleasure and happiness so much that literature and common knowledge are rapidly disappearing. In the midst of the novel, Faber is introduced as a paranoid man; someone who differentiates from the social norm. He leaps as if to run when Montag first confronts him; also, Faber continually claims that he hasn t done anything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Faber first encounters Montag, he claims to talk the meaning of things and knows he s alive , unlike society (71). Faber also mocks the societal view on religion by using sarcasm to ponder if God even recognizes his own son, because Jesus Christ is portrayed only as an actor rather than a religious figure, merely present for societal pleasure. Bradbury also uses an ironic motif of hearing and listening to portray the lackadaisical carelessness of fact due to the obsession with fun and the media (76 87). Montag s society fears literature due to the government s persuasion of its irrelevance, and Faber blames this on the authors who only wrote to be famous, metaphoredly comparing the human race to a girl and bad literature to rape (79). Bradbury purposely uses a negative connotation to emphasize the fatal flaw within the pleasure society is dependent upon. Bradbury s diction reflects both negativity and irony through Faber s lecture, and this allows the reader to contemplate the hamartia within

But most importantly, the art helped spread religion such as Buddhism and Hinduism, into surrounding areas. This religious advance helped form beautiful pieces featuring important religious figures such as Buddha. Two examples are the Standing Figure of Buddha by Takht iBahi Gandhara and the Bodhisattva Maitreya by an unknown artist. Both figures were created in the second and third centuries CE and stand between forty and forty five inches tall. The height and time period, however, are not the only similarities between the two. There are multiple similarities and differences between the Standing Figure of Buddha by Takht iBahi Gandhara, and the Bodhisattva Maitreya by an unknown artist. The similarities between the two figures include Buddhist characteristics such as the cranial bump, nimbus, elongated ears, and draped robe, and the differences include the amount of detail featured in each piece. The main similarities between the two figures are the Buddhist characteristics featured in the detail of each sculpture. By Buddhist characteristics I mean the details found in Buddhist text written by Kushan era sculptors, that describe the features of a Buddha s body. There are very specific details or characteristics that must be included in all figures of Buddha to show respect. Some features and characteristics found in the first sculpture

Youth symbolized vigor and action; ideology was joined to fact... There must have been many who, like Albert Speer s mother, voted for the Nazis because they were young and clean cut. (Mosse 70) Literally, many of the leaders were young, and figuratively many youths becomes leader. However, these two film differ in message in its propaganda. Hitler Youth Quex differ by devotion to a political party, meanwhile The Most Beautiful differ in diligence and goals, i.e. war efforts. Even so, one would have to look critically at the time period each of the film sets. Overall, comparing these two films will explore how the elements of the youth oriented films can be an effective measure of propaganda. In the exposition of the film, The Most Beautiful clearly expresses that it is during wartime periods. This launches the reasoning behind the messages the film

  • 12. Motifs In The Green Lantern The Green Lantern is a good movie to analyze the presence of ancient hero motifs in modern film. Throughout, The Green Lantern, the protagonist and central hero of the film Hal Jordan embodies many of the character motifs of ancient heroes such as opposition, help from others, tokens of recognition, and rewards while also neglecting some of these classic motifs. Typical of most heroes, Hal Jordan receives a lot of opposition from the government, the people and guardians of Oa, and from the main villains Dr. Hammond and Parallax. The government faces a threat to Hal Jordan because they are searching for him in order to discover his involvement with Abin Sur, the extraterrestrial Green Lantern whom crashed into Earth and was able to pass the ring onto Jordan. After receiving the power of the ring Jordan deals with the criticism and skepticism from fellow core members as well as the guardians of Oa, who don t listen to Jordan s advice about the power of fear. The most prevalent opposition is that of Dr. Hammond and Parallax who both possess the power of fear. How concentration affects the rate of reaction between Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Thiosulphate Chemistry Coursework How Concentration Affects a Reaction Aim: The aim of this experiment is to find out how concentration affects the rate of reaction between Hydrochloric Acid and Sodium Thiosulphate. Introduction: This experiment will be carried out by drawing a cross on a piece of paper and mixing hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulphate together to see if the cross disappears. The concentration of hydrochloric acid would change every reaction to show that concentration effects a reaction. The time in which the cross took to disappear would be recorded as well as the temperature at the start and end of the reaction, the concentration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sunlight could affect the speed therefore the experiment will take place in the shade, so that temperature shouldn t change the reaction speed, we will check by using a thermometer. Also the same amount of hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulphate will be mixed each time so that the concentration changes will affect the same amount of hydrochloric acid and sodium thiosulphate. The concentration of the hydrochloric acid will be changing each time to test if it speeds up a reaction. The speed for the light intensity to drop by 10% will be measured after each attempt so that the affects of concentration changes can be recorded. Each concentration will be tested three times and an average will be worked out, to see if there were any anomalies within the experiment. If one result is out of line with the others then that will be easily identified using graphs and tables. The concentration has been picked so that there is a range from 0.25M to 2M, at intervals of 0.5M, 1M, 1.25M and 1.5M. Prediction: I predict that the higher the concentration the faster the reaction will take place meaning the light intensity will drop by 10%. This is because the more concentrated the hydrochloric acid is the more particles there are to collide, therefore more effective collisions to break old bonds and make new bonds. 0.25M concentration would be the slowest reaction and 2M would be the

One where it serves as an enclosure, wherein there are negative functions (breaking of communications, punishing of unauthorized movements), and the other where it is a machine, wherein power is lightened but more effective (Utopian, perhaps). This disciplinary part of the Panopticonhad operated throughout the ages. Disciplinary institutions, whether they be military, educational, or religious, flourished in the classical years. And what processes were involved that led to this important piece of a Panoptical machine, you may ask? First, was the functional inversion of the disciplines. This simply means that what started out as one thing became totally different. For example, the military started out as a

The railway station is very old and is hard to heat, so there will have to be a lot of work done to make the building a comfortable space for people to work. There is also not great lighting in the area so I will have to consider that when I am contracting the building plan. The basic factors that will influence human comfort in the office accommodation in thermal, acoustic and visual terms. Thermal: Activity Level As humans we produce excess heat all the time, this heat is a by product of the metabolic process that we all go through every minute of every day, we must lose excess heat to keep the body temperature at 37oC. As we lose this heat it enters the outer environment and raises the room temperature .We lose most body heat by convection, by radiation and by evaporation of sweat. We lose very little body heat by conduction. When the sweat evaporates from
  • 17. Climate Warming And Climate Change Essay It is well known that politics and religion are two topics to never to be discussed with someone one does not know well. In today s society, it feels as if this list of topics that are socially deemed inappropriate to discuss seems to be growing, with climate change now being a conservation to avoid. This aversion to discussing climate change appears to stem from the fact that the issue tends to polarize opinions, in which people fall into one of two groups: climate change skeptics and climate change believers. This paper seeks to address and analyze the ways in which climate skeptics speak about and understand climate change as well as how climate scientists understand climate change phenomena. More specifically, this paper focuses on how climate skeptics comprehend the relationships between grasslands, livestock, methane and nutrient cycling and how these interconnected concepts do not lead to the type of climate change that green urbanities /green politicians/green activists/green elite predict. The paper will conclude with an evaluation of the two differing positions between climate skeptics and climate scientists, in which I will determine which argument I find to be the most accurate. According to Viv Forbes and Albrecht Glatzle, an earth scientist/farmer and agronomist respectively, in their article The Battle for our Grasslands and Livestock , there are many positive impacts that grasslands, grazers, and livestock provide for humans and the environment. Moreover,

Catalysts are an extremely important part of the experiment, but to understand catalyst you first must understand Activation energy. Activation Energy is the minimum amount of energy that is required to activate atoms or molecules to a condition in which they can undergo chemical transformation or physical transport. (Encyclopedia Britannica, activation energy | chemistry ). A Catalyst is is a substance which speeds up a reaction, but is chemically unchanged at the end of the reaction. When the reaction has finished, you would have exactly the same mass of catalyst as you had at the beginning. A catalyst provides an alternate route for a reaction, one which has lower activation energy, there for speeding up the reaction by requiring the reaction to need less energy to begin, but only in specific conditions will they work to their full potential. (Clark, The effect of catalysts on rates of reaction ) An enzyme is a catalyst in living organisms, regulating the rate at which chemical reactions proceed without it being altered in the process . Catalysts work optimally in certain PHs, and can be altered when in temperatures and PHlevels that are different then what they are used to (http://www.britannica.com/science /enzyme). His family has money and education; however, Milkman is not satisfied. He longs to be connected to his past. He leaves everything behind to discover his roots, and his journey, though it leads to his death, is accomplished for he is free. His dream has been reached, but he cannot reap its benefits. Milkman cannot enjoy the success he shares with his family until he finds his people from the South. He retraces the history that he gathered from his family and recounts it to his people in Georgia where he discovers more truth and more myths. This revisiting of his roots is a characteristic of Africans, even if they are not direct descendants of Africa. The Abortion Of The Fetus I am going to argue that its is right to claim that, even if a fetus is a person, abortion is still permissible when one s risk in health/stability/happiness is threatened. I believe that any woman, who houses the fetus inside her body for estimated nine months have the right and the choice to abortion when it is for one s health, stability and happiness for both the mother and the unborn fetus. Thomson s argument is entitled as Defense to Abortion. I agree to Thomson and her argument when it comes to aborting a fetus, even if a fetus is a person. Yes, it has it s own DNA, and it s own life but when it threatens the house that it stays in, which in this case would be the woman/mother s womb, I believe the abortion of the fetus, is permissible. Thomson states it cannot be seriously thought to be murder if the mother performs an abortion on herself to save her life. (Thomson, Defense on Abortion, pg6) Thomson gives an example of a violinist being plugged into another human, using their blood in high hopes of survival by that person s kidneys extracting the poison from the violinist s blood. The person never agreed to do such, being that it was decided by the Society of Music Lovers; but did not go against it by detaching himself from the violinist knowing that it can cause death. This explains that there are events where we don t have much of a freedom of choice when there is a conscious person/life involved meaning, when there is a conscious life in our hands,

In contrast to a Common Stock, a company may choose to issue Preferred Stock to raise capital. Preferred Stock represents a hybrid in the sense that it is an equity interest with certain features resembling debt. Buyers of these shares have special status in the event the underlying company encounters financial trouble. A typical preferred shareholder doesn t vote on the composition of the company s board or other matters. They are more interested in receiving regular dividends, since these dividends do not fluctuate based on the company s profits; each preferred shareholder is entitled to a fixed amount at certain periods, just so long as the company has the money to do so. Dividends are, also, paid to preferred stockholders before they are paid to common stockholders. Preferred stock is issued with a specific dividend rate. The dividend rate may be stated as a dollar amount or as a percentage of the par value. When dividends are paid, preferred stockholders are paid the amount applicable to their class of preferred stock. Several advantages to issuing preferred stock include: no dilution of management s interest in corporate growth or in voting power (if non voting preferred stock is issued), and predictable dividend payments and preferences upon liquidation (for which investors may pay a premium). Although, disadvantages include: a

Workplace discrimination is still prevalent and could have disastrous effects on social cohesion and political stability if it continues unchecked. While the most blatant forms of discrimination at work may have faded, many remain a persistent and daily part of the workplace, or are taking on more subtle forms. Every day, around the world, discriminationat work is an unfortunate reality for hundreds of millions of people. Women are by far the largest discriminated group, with the pay gap between the sexes still significant in most countries. Racial discrimination also persists, though older theories of the purported superiority of one racial or ethnic group over another have been replaced by allegations that foreign and incompatible cultures may have disruptive effects on the integrity of national identities. New forms of discrimination based on disability, HIV/AIDS, age or sexual orientation have now become cause for growing concern. Inequalities within discriminated groups are widening. Affirmative action policies, for example, helped create a new middle class of formerly discriminated persons in some countries. A few rise to the top of the social ladder, while most remain among the low paid and socially excluded. Discrimination often traps people in low paid, informal economy jobs. The discriminated are often stuck in the worst jobs, and denied benefits, social protection, training, capital, land or credit. Women are more likely than men to be engaged in these more

Critique Of Leo Steinberg s Other Criteria Steinberg Kyle Hevey | Leo Steinberg Other Criteria Leo Steinberg s Other Criteria focuses on how America s view on art differs from that of other Countries and many of the problems that ensue when artists create art in America. Also, how critics and viewers of art should perceive different pieces and how to cope with differing views. Steinberg later goes on to discuss the problems with how certain groups of people can perceive an art piece negatively, when it might not be a negative piece. Steinberg s style of writing was very difficult to comprehend, I found myself rereading most things, and only occasionally understanding the concepts he was trying to convey. He began his piece by addressing two writing pieces published by Fortune, a magazine about the business side of art. He compared the two pieces, the first one was written in September 1946 and the second one in December 1955, he began with the earlier one. At the second lake incident, when the governess accuses Flora of witnessing the ghost of Miss Jessel, the governess states that, she was literally, she was hideously, hard; she had turned common and almost ugly (71). Then, Flora emotionally declares that she has never seen the ghosts and then hugs and cries to Mrs. Grose almost as if it was a theatrical production. Due to this ghostly possession, this is possible and thus a reasonable deduction that proves the ghosts are real and are communicating to the children, yet not presenting themselves to Mrs. Grose. It also makes the governess look silly to be discussing the ghosts because nobody else claims they witness any ghosts during the entire book and especially at a moment where the governess says that a ghost is there. Besides the fact of the public humiliation of the governess by those that do not see the ghosts, another factor that the ghosts are affecting are her ability to sleep properly. Her fear for the children interacting with the ghost has kept her up, in one situation where she stays up to a late hour and then goes to check on Miles under her endless obsession (61)). The problem of the ghosts have not just made the governess lose sleep, they have made the governess obsessed with saving the kids from the ghosts. It is also present that this puts the governess on edge and when Miles and Flora act suspiciously strange, she thus believes that the ghosts are involved in somehow possessing their bodies. However, in William Shakespeare s Sonnet 130, written as an English sonnet, the speaker has a different vision, as he realizes that his lover s beauty cannot be compared to that of a goddess, nor can it be found in nature for she is just a typical human being. His love for her is eventually shown, but without the use of the clichГ© image of beauty. She s remembered for being a gay poet and is immortalized despite a lot of her works not being found completely. It s one of my favorite quotes because identifying as a nonbinary queer person who also likes girls, I can relate to Sappho a lot when she writes about her desire for love and personal heartbreaks. This quote also brings me ease as even in another time someone will still remember me. I think we all want to leave a legacy of some sort, and for me I want my legacy to be centered around my experience and accomplishments as an American born Punjabi artist and social activist, who was also highly active in the LGBTQ+ community. I want someone to remember me because it is a vicious cycle that people of color and members of the color in the LGBTQ+ community get forgotten in history. History is white washed. But the idea that I will do enough in my life to be remembered in some shape or form, reminds me that my efforts and failures as a Punjabi artist and social activist are just part of a legacy I am starting. Moving on, my strength and determination did not magically appear one day. I had a lot of amazing people who are a part of my support network who helped show me what healthy self love and growth is supposed to be. One of the people I will be highlighting is my AP English teacher. Candice Ligator, was one of the best, and one of my favorite teachers in my high school career. She was a big part of my support system when it came to being a trans and queer student who had a lot of family issues. She was also a big inspiration to me as she told us stories full of struggles growing as a teacher. She talked about how starting off as a teacher at first made her cry every night, showing me that it takes persistence to be adept in a profession. Her choices on the pieces of literature she taught were engaging as they touched upon feminism, gay rights, and race. This allowed me to explore both my interest in writing and in social justice. Reading about personal experiences from Mary Shelley, Oscar Wilde, and Ralph Ellison was inspiring as it allowed me to see that I can

The Big Bang Theory And Evolution Creation Theory A young man who is a senior in college has the opportunity of a lifetime to conduct research with professors in Israel on geological fossils for his major in Earth Science. He had never been out of the United States before and only knew what he had been taught: the big bang theory and evolution. Israel is made up of a very strong Jewish community and, as this young man would soon find out, they did not view geological findings through the Big Bang theory, but through the Biblical creation theory. Due to their disagreements he had traveled to a different country only to fail to understand his new professor s teachings The United States of America was founded upon the Christian God but yet teachers are not even allowed to teach about the Biblical creation theory of how Earth was made. They are forced to only teach about the big bang theory and evolution. What students are being taught today is only a scientific theory and can not be proved, so why not at least teach the theory our nation was founded upon to the students. They are only being taught a single side of the story with no option to learn any other theory. There are also many parents who want their children to be exposed to different theories of the Earth s creation. Without teaching multiple theories, there is no way for children to have an interest sparked in them to investigate into the many theories that are in existence.
