that occurs due to different kind of short circuit fault and the switching of heavy load. Dynamic
Voltage Restorer (DVR) is one of the most common custom power device to compensate the voltage
sags Usually DVR is installed between load feeder and source in the distribution system. In this paper
approach to compensate voltage sag by using dynamic voltage restorer base on the d q 0 algorithm is
discussed. Simulation is done in MATLAB software and results are obtained.

RICH WILKINSON EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Clarkson Lumber Company, owned by Mr. Keith
Clarkson, has been in business for 15 years and currently has 15 employees. Firms who have worked
with Clarkson speak very highly of him, saying that he is conservative and his operating expenses are
low. The company s revenues are projected to continue to grow. Recently, Clarkson Lumber s
accounts payable and notes payable have increased significantly. The company has not been able to
take advantage of trade discounts in recent years because of lack of funds and because of investments
due to the company s growth. While Clarkson Lumber has been increasingly ... Show more content on

Even with the growing trade debt, CLC still was comparable to the overall percentages of other
lumber outlets (see Exhibit 3). It is also important to recognize specific ratios related to the company.
The current ratio, which is helpful in understanding asset liquidity or inefficient use of cash flow,
decreased from 2.5 in 1993 to 1.1 in 1995. High profit companies have a current CLARKSON
LUMBER CASE STUDY FINAN 6022 002 PAGE 2 ratio of 2.52. ROE for Clarkson Lumber
remains relatively steady; it increased from 1993 to 1994 but decreased to 17.1% in 1995. This ROE is
only slightly lower than the ROE for high profit companies which is at 22.1%. After reviewing
Clarkson Lumber s financial situation, several key issues became apparent. First, the company is
clearly growing at an unsustainable rate. Exhibit 3 (various statistical ratios), shows the average
internal growth rate of the company at 6.06% and the average sustainable growth rate at 15.78%.
However, over the three full years analyzed, the company has an average growth margin of 24.5% and
an average asset growth margin of 33.69%. This continues in the forecasted 1996 year as the company
is projected to increase revenue by roughly 21.7%. At the company s current level, it cannot continue
to support its current growth rate going forward and will require more debt to finance this growth.
Therefore, the company seems to be overly reliant on short term financing for its operations.

Industrialization Of Industrialization And...
Industrialization is a starting point for many of the technologies and factories around and exists today,
despite the negative influences of the industrialization, people gained many benefits from it too. For
example, because of the industrialization workers are more efficient producing goods and products,
also industrialization helped many people walked out of the countryside which broadens their
perspectives. For many countries, industrialization is a voluntary movement within the country, but as
an exception, China s industrialization is forced due to the barbarism action from Britain, France and
many other countries. Recalls the first Opium War, which is the event that aroused the
industrialization in China, and later the second Opium war etc.... Due to the pressure from enemies,
China has to start industrialization in order to strengthen itself and to protect the people from the
opponents. Overall, industrialization was a hard and a long term battle not only with other countries
but also within China itself. Luckily, China slowly recovered from its failure and walked out of its
shadow by the transformation through the self strengthening movement, the Xinhai revolution and
when new China was founded in 1949. Even though China is still in the process of industrialization,
but due to its transformation, China is now deemed as one of the strongest industrial countries around
the world.

Living In A Tipi Short Story
Living in a Tipi It was 1973. I was twenty one, living in Vancouver, and working as a nanny. I had
lived in Toronto for three years after graduating high school in Sudbury, Ontario. In my last story,
Going West and Coming Home, I described my previous adventures. Vancouver is a fantastic city, but
I think, at heart, I m more of a country gal. One day, my old friend Dik Budd (from Toronto) called
and invited me to visit him in Merville, on Vancouver Island. So, off I went, on a ferry over to
Naniamo. I could not believe the size of the ocean or Vancouver Island. After what seemed to me a
very long bus ride, we arrived in Courtenay. The bus depot was on the main street, and I made my way
to meet up with Dik and his friends at the Courtenay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dik, who was small guy, had the perfect home. Like a hobbit house, it had a wood stove and was
warm and cozy. A lot of time was spent carrying water and splitting wood. We all played baseball and
drank homemade beer and wine. Everything tasted delicious. The gardens produced wonderful
vegetables and even small, sweet casaba melons. We all appreciated the fruits of our labours. It was
late summer, and there were huge blackberries, salmonberries, and huckleberries. Dik fished for trout
and salmon in river. During my visit, Dik s friend Vicky asked me if I d like to take care of two little
girls, Tara and West, while she worked. I could live with them in their tipi. Well, why not? So, I went
back to Vancouver, packed up, and returned to start my new life. I knew then that I d be on Vancouver
Island forever. Vicky s tipi was quite spacious. There was a wooden floor on which sat two beds, two
dressers, a toy box, and a shelf for books. Sleeping there evoked ancient memories. We mostly cooked
on fires outside. We all joined together around a big fire at night and made music or told jokes. Tara,
who was five, and West, who was three, were adorable, blonde, blue eyed girls. They were easy to
take care of. Vicky would get up early in the morning and fetch water and wood to cook breakfast.
Then, she would get ready for work at her office job in Courtenay. She would put on a tidy skirt and
jacket, nylons, and high heels and head to work in her old

Examples Of Porter s Five Forces
Porter s Five Forces Model
Porter s Five Forces are the following: Potential entrants with their threat of entry; Buyers with
bargaining; Suppliers with their bargaining power; Threats of substitutes and Rivalry. I will describe
the Five Forces and how they are helpful in the international area. I will also discuss their current
applications and conclude with the limitations that this model has. The first force to discuss is the
supplier power. This force leads to buyer supplier relationships between firms and industries. When
suppliers are in a position of strength they have influence over the industry that provides raw
materials; their goal is to sell raw materials at a higher price in order to capture some of the industry s
profit. An example of this can be Jewelry stores holding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When new industry enters the market if throws of the balance, affecting competitions. In theory we
have a free market; meaning any firm can enter and exit the market at will. The reality it s just not that
simple due to barriers of entry. When profits are high many firms what to enter the market and over
time profits will decrease. When the profits begin to decrease then firms begin to exit the market.
Barriers are unique characteristic in the industry to reduce the rate of entry of new firms into the
market. One type of barrier is entry deterring pricing, this is when the price is kept relatively low to
discourage other firms from entering the market. Government barriers are those in with the
government create monopolies through regulations. An example of this type of barrier is the utility
market, in which the government rather have one company providing efficient service. Other barriers
are patents and assets specificity. Exit barriers keep a firm from leaving the markets. Examples can be
that they have specialized assets that difficult to liquidate, high exit cost and interrelated

The Development Of The Horror Genre Throughout The Years

Final Semester Paper
The Development of the Horror Genre Throughout the Years Both horror and science fiction explore
the boundaries of what is means to be human (Belton, 272). This is done by emphasizing the
dilemmas of the figures who straddle the border of human and non human (Belton, 273). Horror and
Sci fi contain narratives that take on a form of a search for knowledge that will enable the human race
to overcome any obstacle that involves a supernatural force (Belton, 273); the story lines require a
search or journey to resolve the issue. Horror and Sci fi often overlap when there is a monster featured
in a sci fi film; or when a horror film is set in the future (Belton, 271). The two differ in purpose,
horror, a sub genre for sci fi, was created to generate fear through a figure of a monster or supernatural
being. While Sci fi has a chief purpose of focusing on science and reasoning (Belton, 272). The
development of both genres is created to a number of works done throughout the years. The
improvement of special effects, influences from the original masters of suspense, camera angles, and
heightened elements of the horror film genre has allowed it to maintain its popular demand amongst
audiences for decades.
Although Native Americans have passed legends about werewolves, evil spirits, and monsters from

Violence And Racism In Wolf Whistle By Lewis Nordan
Wolf whistle is based on a real life tragedy that occurred in 1955. Lewis Nordan, the author uses
humor to alleviate the vicious tone that was given off from the violence and racism. During 1955 Jim
Crow laws were in effect, so segregation and inequality was present throughout the whole novel. Jim
Crow laws sparked a significant amount of unfair trials, where the guilty people were magically let go,
unpunished. The Emmett Till case was one of the many unfair trials. It solely revolved around
violence and racism, which still exists in our society today. Racism can and does lead to violence a
majority of the time. It is detrimental flaw in society, where innocent people are killed daily due to
their skin tone. In Wolf Whistle, Bobo was a fourteen year old African American boy that was
murdered by two white men because he wolf whistled at a white female. He was killed simply because
a white man named Solon thought that Bobo s action was outrageous due to his skin color.
Unfortunately, racists people like Solon still walk among us today. They are referred to as white
supremacists, since they firmly believe they are better than other races. Killings like Bobo s still
happen today but to a lesser degree. Bobo s death was a long, slow and vicious death that no human
should ever have to go through. Bobo s death began when he was kidnapped from where he was
staying at with no fight. His Aunt and Uncle practically handed him over to Solon. The fact that Solon

that pediatric population, females are reported to be more susceptible to ankle injuries than their male

occurrence of ankle sprains among this population are: leg dominance, history of previous injury,

Response to Literature
The free bird thinks of another breeze....a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams... The two literary
works I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou and Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird
can be seen as mockingbirds that have flown over fields of prejudice and repeat what they have seen
for all to hear. Jem Finch, a young boy and lawyer s son from To Kill a Mockingbird clearly
symbolizes a mockingbird because of his youth and innocence, and because of his innocence he
cannot fully understand the racism in the story. Jem also has many similarities to the caged and free
birds in I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings , whether it be Jem s ... Show more content on

While Jem was a young boy he acted very similar to the free bird in I Know Why the Caged Bird
Sings. He lived life to its fullest never stopping to think of the racism he was being shielded from. The
free bird thinks of another breeze and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees and the fat worms
waiting on a dawn bright lawn and he names the sky his own. (Angelou, 14 18) In this stanza of the
poem you can infer that the free bird is very happy with life and never thinks of anything upsetting.
The upsetting things in this instance would be the racism in the story; the free bird never stops to think
about the caged bird. As the summer progressed, so did our game. (Lee, pg. 52) When Jem and his
sister Scout meet Dill, a boy in their neighbor s yard, they get to know him and play with him. They
are always thinking of improving their game, living life to its fullest as much as a kid can. When they
are playing said game, Jem never stops to think about the racism in the world and is shielded from it
by the fun of being a kid. Concluding that they are similar characters because both Jem and the free
bird enjoy their lives. Another reason why the free bird and Jem , the symbol of a mockingbird are
similar is they are both able to do what they please. A free bird leaps on the back of the wind and
floats downstream till the current ands and dips his wing

Trip To Haiti
In the fall of 2014 I was presented with the opportunity to go on a missions trip to Zambia. We had a

people from visiting, but for me it was exactly what I needed. We got to Haiti and even in the airport
saw the people desperate for money to feed themselves and their families. We took a ten passenger
plane up the mountain and as we flew we were able to see the poverty in the towns below. There were
houses made up of four corner poles with a tin roofs. The destruction from the earthquake still had not
been recovered from. In this moment I realized how fortunate I was to have not been in the earthquake

Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing
Speaking with old English as his first language, Shakespeare portrayed a story. Tragedies, Much Ado
About Nothing is a comedy, which uplifts spirits as it circles the lives of Hero, Claudio, Beatrice, Don
John, and Benedick. Love, trickery, and deception are motifs used to develop a theme relatable to
years later. Using love as a basis tricks are placed everywhere in the Italian town of Messina to spark
the interest of two or to ruin the love. In Much ado About Nothing, William Shakespeare s explores
the motif of deception, and how nothing is as it seems, connected to the human nature for people of
love, deception is neither always good or always detrimental, it is how it is portrayed. Deception, at
first glance, appears as a word usually in a negative tone, but in times the act of deception is used to
benefit the characters lives. Nevertheless, Shakespeare allowed for deception to be played with when
the characters never expected it. In of Much Ado About Nothing, deception is used in the way to help
others. As an example, in Act 2 Scene 1 a ball took place where all the men and women were to dress
in guises. Don Pedro, the prince, agreed to help Claudio woo Hero over so Claudio could no longer
say he is a bachelor. This is an act of deception used in the positive effect. In Act 1 Sc. 1 Don Pedro
tells to Claudio, If thou dost love fair Hero, cherish it, And I will break with her and with her father,
and Thou shall have her. Don Pedro encouraged Claudio to cherish

compare this with survey results and research on Australian society.
Procedure
Websites like the Australian Bureau of Statistics were used to find information about Australian
society. A survey was conducted with 20 people aged 18 to 45+ to find out if cultural diversity is
represented well on Australian free to air TV. Approximately 10 hours of Australian programs and

white, 9% were Asian, 5% were African, 3 % were Indian and 2% were Middle Eastern, Latino and

Wireless Mobile Telecommunication Technology And The...
Abstract
With the development of mobile devices and web applications, people tend to access data, audio,
picture and video from their mobile devices anywhere and anytime, thus, wireless mobile
telecommunication becomes more and more important. Cellular network technology is the basis for
the wireless mobile telecommunication. And the generation is used to describe the development
history of wireless mobile telecommunication standard and technology, from first generation (1G) to
fifth generation (5G). Fourth generation (4G) is currently widely commercialized around the world by
different wireless service providers, or carriers. Mobile WiMAX and Long Term Evolution (LTE) are
two technology categories in 4G systems and the spread spectrum radio technology behind 4G is
orthogonal FDMA (OFDMA). 4G not only provides internet speeds that are five times faster than 3G,
but also reduces likelihood of losing the connection significantly, solving the problem of unreliability.
with sudden drops in speed and complete outages. LTE is based on the GSM/ EDGE and UMTS/
HSPA network technologies, offering high speeds and low latencies over long distances. FDD LTE
and TDD LTE are two different standards for LTE 4G technology. Besides, LTE Advanced is a major
enhancement of the LTE standard, in order to reach and surpass the ITU requirements.

Vera Wang Engagement Ring Essay
He gently holds the ring with the shiny, large stone. He says to himself, it has to be perfect. His
expression speaks that the Vera Wang engagement ring from the Love collection at Zales is the perfect
ring to propose with. The man in the magazine sits in a black and white setting. He looks to be in deep
thought. When it comes to buying an engagement ring, the major key point is the ring. $4,000: that is
what the average American spends on an engagement ring. The cost of an engagement ring can be
pricy, and what many fail to realize is that they are only paying for the name brand not the quality. The
ad in the Cosmopolitan magazine implies that a perfect marriage is only perfect if one buys the Vera
Wang Love collection ring from Zales. The word perfect is bolded in black, san serif letters in front of
a white background. The word love is in capital letters, with the collection ring sitting in between the
letters L and O on the bottom left hand corner of the magazine. The text on the image is small, with
the words love and perfect made larger for emphasis. The words are emphasized for two reasons: to
capture the reader s attention and to create an illusion that the Vera Wang ring is the only ring to
propose with. The image is perfectly balanced with the man in a grey tone and a white ... Show more

Thomas J. Jackson played a very important roll in the civil war. As a general for the confederate side
he served in many famous battles and was very well known. In November of 1859, Jackson was one
of the Virginia Military Institute officers to accompany the contingent of cadets to Harpers Ferry,
Virginia. At the execution of John Brown, who was an abolitionist, they stood guard. In 1861 Jackson
was in charge of the cadets who were ordered to Richmond. There they were going to serve as
drillmasters for new army recruits. 6 days later, Colonel Jackson was ordered to take command at
Harpers Ferry, where he soon comprised the famous stonewall Brigade. That July, he was promoted to
Brigadier General.
At the first battle of Bull Run, Jackson s small group of troops were facing overwhelming odds but
they formed a strong line and held their ground. At the sight of this, General Barnard Bee said, There
is Jackson s line over there standing like a stonewall. After this statement Thomas Jackson was given
the nickname Stonewall .
In October 1861 Colonel Jackson was promoted to Major General. He served in the seven day battles,

Similarities Between Canada And Canada
When it comes to certain qualities and attributes of the United States of America and Canada, many
people residing elsewhere fail to tell the difference. The accents of people from certain parts of both
countries, for instance, are so incredibly indistinguishable that they baffle any and everyone. Besides
this one factor, they even share some comparable cultural characteristics, such as driving on the right
side of the road and cherishing the same basic human rights to the utmost importance. Likewise, there
are several similarities between multiple aspects of the countries respective governments, including
within their individual established frameworks, political systems, and their divisions of authorities and
duties. These could potentially point out a reason as to why Canada and the United States are
immensely successful in their particular objectives, and are on their paths to achieving their long term
goals with difficult to accomplish, yet beneficial visions. After all, they are both either on the way to
becoming or currently are two of world s leading superpowers (Financial Post). However, there is not
just one particular infallible way to rule a country and push it to further advancement simultaneously.
In fact, each country works and functions differently, which is primarily due to individual background
and history. Ultimately, although Canada and the United States of America are both nations that share
similarities in various parts of their Constitutions, political

Show Boat History
On December 27, 1927 when the premiere of Show Boat opened in the spectacular new Ziegfeld
Theater, producer Florenz Ziegfeld Jr. had brought something new to Broadway. As Katherine Leigh
Axtell writes, the show was neither an operetta nor a musical comedy, neither a vaudeville nor a
revue. For the first time, composer Jerome Kern and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II seamlessly
integrated plot, character, music, and dance into a modern musical production starting a new genre of
musical, which is often called musical theater or book musical. Show Boat also brought serious
themes that left the audience unable to react the way they had to the previous Broadway musicals. For
the first time, there was a breakthrough in racial integration. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

What Is My Experience With Nature Essay
My experience with nature

1. Born in a town, my experience with nature is comparatively less compare with friend who spent
their childhood in the interior village life. The first experience I can recall is back in the 1998 99 when
an ethnic conflict took place in my district between two communities which one was them was my
tribe. We move to a place where it was safe for my community to be, it was a centre for the villagers
who come to sell their goods and take them to the town. I could barely remember what was
happening, I get to recall this from my sisters who were too scare to tell my parents that I was
surround by a snake. They told me that I did not even notice the snake around my leg. In the Manipuri

remember each detail, yet what I can recalled was the yell of jackal in the midst of the day in the field,
and the tiring journey which lead to the banana field. On the way there are lots of fig tree on the way, I
remember competing with friend to be the first one to reach the tree, for we believe that the first one
who pick the fruit tastes the sweetest. On the way, there are numbers of streams which we used to fill
our bottles. The waters in the streams are crystal clear, tastes sweet and that was the reason why we do

Rank Structure Essay
The Importance of Rank Structure in the Marine Corps Rank structure is important to the Marine
Corps because it form one of the fundamental backbones of military service. Many believe that with
rank structure the Marine Corps or any other military organization could not function. This is has been
proven fact over the centuries by the countless of mob armies that has arisen in history of the fall apart
because they had no clear leadership. One of the ways that rank structure is important is that it is like a
link of chains. This chain forms a link between the highest officer to the lowest of the enlisted. This
chain allows for the anywhere in the chain of command for an order to be issued and it will go down
the chain to the level ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is also one of the most important reasons for the rank structure to have been created is that any
time a commander can find out the condition of his troops. And this of course is something that every
commander especially if the commander is going in to a wartime environment would like to know
what strength he is has. Rank structure is vital to the Marine Corps or any military organization
because rank structure is the basis of where all discipline in the ranks comes from. Without a rank
structure know one would know who is in charge of who and everyone would start to trying to take
charge in their own way cause confusion and disorder through the ranks. Also without rank structure,
when rules or orders are broken in a military organization it is up to the superior of that person to
discipline that person, no one would know who was supposed to merit the discipline or who is
supposed to carry out the discipline thus cause more chaos and anarchy. Therefore in conclusion we
see that without rank structure, military organization such as the Marine Corps could not function.
Without rank structure the Marine Corps would be in disorder and disarray, because it would have no
idea who was in charge and who was suppose to be the foot soldiers. Therefore maintaining proper
rank structure is the responsibility of the highest ranking officer to the lowest ranking private in boot

Environmental Factors Play a Key Role in the Development...
Environmental factors play a key role in the development of any human being. Within a family unit,
the ones who are closest can effect the way they are to be as adults. Adam Trask grew up with his half
brother, Charles. He had a difficult relationship with [him because he} was jealous of him and [beat]
him when they [were] boys ( East ). Fighting for the love of Cyrus Trask, Charles took his anger out
on Adam, scarring him and his view of his brother. Adam had no control within the feelings of
Charles, making him that more repelled by the idea of his abusive brother. Biblically paralleled with
Cain, Charles truly affects Adam s look on any type of Cain figure that crosses paths with him, such as
the effects of Cathy after she breaks his heart. Adam s son, Aron Trask, also has a Cain figure in his
life as well. Aron is the innocent, good brother, in contrast to the aggressive, malicious Caleb just as
Adam was in contrast with Charles ( East ). He and his twin brother aren t as aggressive as Adam and
Charles were, but mentally and verbally. Caleb abuses Aron when he told Abra that Aron put a snake
in her box making her reject him. Caleb is also jealous of Aron, but for his popularity. Charles and
Caleb both effect Adam and Aron in a revealing way. When Charles tries to convince Adam that their
dad was a liar, Adam immediately denies it, not wanting to accept the truth. As for Caleb telling Aron

Literary Influences Of Shakespeare
Context Due to Shakespeare having a big influence on literature, even today, many literary works are
related to Shakespeare. Authors incorporate Shakespeare s writing in some way and change things a
bit to make their own story. Reflection In literature class, we could apply this concept because many
literary works are influenced by Shakespeare and other writings, which we can use to make
connections and it can be considered as a text to text situation. A film called West Side Story is just
like Romeo and Juliet because in both of the stories there are two rival groups and one person form
one group falls in love with a person from their rival group. These two stories have common elements
such as the rival gangs, and the type of love. Context The Bible is well recognized book, which has
many allusions in it. The writers use these references to make it more meaningful. Reflection In
literature class, we could apply this concept because allusions can create a lot of imagery, which adds
more meaning to it. Religious or biblical references can also be used for irony. Allusions add hidden
and deep meaning, due to the fact it s an indirect reference. For example, in the book Macbeth,
Shakespeare uses the Golgotha as an allusion. Context Many writers integrate other literary works into
their writing. It helps readers understand what s going on more by connecting some of the events and
themes to the fairytales. Reflection In literature class, we could apply

Arabian Nights Characters Analysis
The frame story of The Arabian Nights is set up with the kings encounters with their wives and the
demon s woman. Linked by the emphasis on promiscuity as a shared characteristic of all the women
concerned, and structurally by the repetition of the act of betrayal and the humiliation of men, the
message is clear: woman s sexuality and promiscuity can not be controlled.
Opening with the story of King Shahrayar and Shahrazad and their wives, we are first introduced to
the themes of betrayal and the promiscuity of women. Here are two kings living in different cities, far
from each other, experience similar circumstances. Their women, having betrayed them, make love to
their slaves once King Shahrayar and Shahrazad are gone. This is the first sign of the king s changing
their perspective on women and both acting rashly on their own feelings.
How will it be and what will happen behind my back when I go to visit my brother in India? No.
Women are not to be trusted. He got exceedingly angry, adding, By God,I am king and sovereign in
Samarkand, yet my wife has betrayed me and has inflicted this on me. As his anger boiled, he drew his
sword and struck both his wife and cook. Then he dragged them by the heels and threw them from the
top of the palace to the trench below. (pg 6)

murdering his wife and cook that these action, although seemingly justified, are rash and are based on

Judaism religion. Many people in the United States that call themselves Jews will celebrate the
holidays but don t do the religious activities. These people are still considered Jews though because
they are known as secular people. You are considered a Jew if your mother was a Jew or anyone
whose gone through the formal process of conversion of a Jew. The conversion of a Jew can be a long
process. The first step in this process is considering Judaism. During this step the person has to figure
out why they want to become a Jew. Many choose to because they are involved romantically or want
to unite the family religion. Once the person has decided that it s the right choice for them, the second
choice is finding a rabbi. This step can be difficult since the different rabbis differ. Some rabbis will
want to devote more time than other one might. Rabbis decide who can enter into Judaism. When
meeting with the rabbi they will ask a series of questions about the person wanting to convert. The
third step is learning Judaism. The rabbi the person is meeting with will normally help someone learn
more about Judaism. The fourth step is the religious court. During this step you go to a religious court
which normally consists of three people which at least one of them is a rabbi and can pertain up to
three rabbis. During the court session the person is asked

This quote inspires me because it relates to me in real life. I ve tried so many times on many different
things, but i ve never gave up so i eventually won it or got it. For example Ar, Ar is very hard for me

before the industrial revolution compared to today s society cannot be stated similar. In the modern
society, people rely on mechanisations and machinery for living, however, before the 1750, everything
was mostly done manually as countries had not yet adopted machines. This caused a significant

organizational theory Essay
Question #1
Despite the economic progress brought about in part by scientific management, critics were calling
attention to the seamy side of progress which included severe labor management conflict, apathy,
boredom, and wasted human resources to examine the discrepancy between how an organization was
supposed to work versus how the workers actually behaved. In addition, factors like World War I,
developments in psychology and later the depression, all bought into question, some of the basic
assumptions of Scientific Management. (Internet) This is where the Human Relations School steps in.
Its primary focus is the importance of attitudes and feelings of workers, while informal roles and

To Mayo, this was not only the key to organizational success, but also the goal to achieving social
stability. He also viewed informal group processes as the promoting tool for social integration, as well
as stopping absenteeism, turnover, and discontent among employees.
Another important person at this time was Chester Barnard, who combined practical experience in
management and corporate affairs with a complex and sophisticated theory of organization and human
behavior. His focus projected from an emphasis on the organization to an analysis of the nature of an
individual. He placed priority on tension between the organization and the individual noting that
...organizations are constructed for particular purposes, but they employ individuals who may have
widely divergent objectives and desires. (Jaffe, 74) Barnard noted that cooperation was needed for the
organization to work effectively and efficiently. He discussed in his book, The Functions of the
Executive, the relationship between incentives and contributions, and the need to join these together to
meet an equilibrium of some sort. He claimed that this system would satisfy individuals and obtain
contributions from them while at the same time making everyone happy. To do this, he used
distribution hoping to gain cooperative activity from the employees. The executive needs to note that
distribution can be good in one situation but

The Contradiction Between Neorealism And Realism
Events which took place after the end of the Cold War and the disintegration of the USSR, and in
particular for the first year of the XXI century, demanded political scientists, sociologists, geopolitics,
as well as psychologists revision of views on the theory of international relations. The variety of
theories and attitudes existing today can ultimately be reduced to three known paradigms: realist
(including classical realism and neorealism), liberal (traditional idealism and neo liberalism) and neo
Marxist, each of which comes from its understanding of the nature and character of international
relations. I suppose that today it is relevant to look at the contradiction between neorealism and
neoliberalism.
For the theory of political realism, the concept of interest defined in terms of power is the central, as
well as the related concept of balance of power, geopolitical strategy, etc. In neorealism, which was
first outlined by Kenneth Waltz, these accents are slightly displaced. Defending a structural
understanding of power, neo realism does not reduce the balance of power to the military component,
and includes economic, information and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the end of the cold war the credibility of political realism was seriously shaken. Some of the
representatives of neorealism began to call themselves liberal realists or utopian realists , thus showing
a certain willingness to revise certain provisions of the realist paradigm. Many scientists without
questioning the realist thesis about the radical difference of political interactions within the state and
in the international arena, believe that the whole nature of international relations is changing in the
direction of mature anarchy in which Western liberal democratic States are able to play the role of
guarantor of international security and progress is made available to all, including fragile states and

The Rape Of The Daughters Of Leucipus Analysis
This art piece is titled The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus and the artist is Peter Paul Rubins.
This work was created in 1618 in what was probably Antwerp, Belgium. The socio cultural situation
during at that time and place was tense with the short 12 year truce during Eighty Years War that
resumed in 1619. This war was being fought at this time in what was called the Low Countries
(comprised of some of modern Belgium) and included Antwerp. There were also conflicting religions
with Protestants and Catholics at this time as seen with the Thirty Years War that began in 1618. This
piece is made of oil paint and was made by using a brush to paint the oil onto the canvas.
The story being told here is about the Greek myth of two twin brothers named Pollux and Castor who
kidnapped and married the daughters of King Leucippus. Two recognizable images are Castor, who is
dressed in garb common for a horse tamer, while Pollux is completely nude. In the image, it is clear
that the two daughters are being taken away against their will by the two men with their horses. The
exact location of this event is not clear but it appears to be occurring in a green valley of some sort
where trees and hills can be seen in the background. Although the time in which it is happening is not

the piece. This work really reminds me of other traditional art pieces I have seen with the style of the
painting and the usage of darks and lights to highlight figures. I think it is very similar to other

Essay about Historical Analysis of the Military Draft Policy
Historical Analysis of the Military Draft Policy
The Constitution adopted in 1789 gave Congress the power to raise and support armies, but it neither
mentioned nor prohibited conscription. The Framers left that issue to the future, although most of
them believed that the United States like Britain would enlist its men rather than conscript them, and
would pay for its armies through the power to tax. Not until World War I did the United States rely
primarily upon conscription. The Selective Service Act of 1917 was adopted in large part because a
civilian led preparedness movement had persuaded many Americans that a selective national draft was
the most equitable and efficient way for an industrial society to raise a wartime army. ... Show more

The drawing continued until all days of the year had been matched to lottery numbers. (Berger 1981)
In 1973, the draft ended and the U.S. converted to an All Volunteer military. The registration
requirement was suspended in April 1975. It was resumed again in 1980 by President Carter in
response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Registration continues today as a hedge against
underestimating the number of servicemen needed in a future crisis. (Berger 1981)
Draft Procedure and Policy
When a crisis occurs which requires more troops than the volunteer military can supply, Congress
passes and the President signs legislation which starts a draft. It should be noted that the President
cannot initiate a draft on his own. Congress would first have to pass legislation (both the House and
Senate), and the President would have to sign the bill into law. A lottery based on birthdays determines
the order in which registered men are called up by Selective Service. The first to be called, in a
sequence determined by the lottery, will be men whose 20th birthday falls during that year, followed,
if needed, by those aged 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25. The Agency activates and orders its State Directors and
Reserve Forces Officers to report for duty. Registrants with low lottery numbers are ordered to report
for a physical, mental, and moral evaluation at a Military Entrance Processing Station to determine
whether they are

Theme Of Expressionism In Bury The Dead
The characters, conflicts and physical settings in Bury the Dead are all carefully constructed to initiate
a specific emotional response. They are not created to be analyzed as being apart of reality. However,
expressionism is not a subset of complete fantasy, it is a distilled form of reality in which an artist or
author can focus specifically on an event, person or group of people and the subsequent inner reaction
he or she wants to make aware to the audience. Expressionism can be found throughout literature, art
and theater, therefore it is not difficult to exhibit similar reactions found in Bury the Dead in other
mediums or even settings. A new transposition of Shaw s work would ardently relate the stark themes
to a modern audience. The second facet of Shaw s play that stands out as essential is the use of
sardonic wit in his dialogue. Verbal quips can be described as sardonic if they are intended to criticize
or demean a person or group of people. For example, in Bury the Dead, the Doctor references the
apathy of the Generals during his examinations.
Shaw, primarily because the play is a form of propaganda, constructs the dialogue of every character
to carry the weight of his thesis of dichotomy. This realization connects the sardonic wit back to the
expressionistic characteristics. The characters and the setting are literary marionettes dancing to the
music of propaganda, holding no free intelligence unaligned to Shaw s themes. In a vast sea of
consumerism and

However, over the three full years analyzed, the company has an average growth margin of 24.5% and an average asset growth margin of 33.69%. This continues in the forecasted 1996 year as the company is projected to increase revenue by roughly 21.7%. At the company s current level, it cannot continue to support its current growth rate going forward and will require more debt to finance this growth. • 6. Living In A Tipi Short Story Living in a Tipi It was 1973. I was twenty one, living in Vancouver, and working as a nanny. I had lived in Toronto for three years after graduating high school in Sudbury, Ontario. In my last story, Going West and Coming Home, I described my previous adventures. Vancouver is a fantastic city, but I think, at heart, I m more of a country gal. One day, my old friend Dik Budd (from Toronto) called and invited me to visit him in Merville, on Vancouver Island. So, off I went, on a ferry over to Naniamo. I could not believe the size of the ocean or Vancouver Island. After what seemed to me a very long bus ride, we arrived in Courtenay. It was late summer, and there were huge blackberries, salmonberries, and huckleberries. Dik fished for trout and salmon in river. During my visit, Dik s friend Vicky asked me if I d like to take care of two little girls, Tara and West, while she worked. I could live with them in their tipi. Well, why not? So, I went back to Vancouver, packed up, and returned to start my new life. I knew then that I d be on Vancouver Island forever. Vicky s tipi was quite spacious. There was a wooden floor on which sat two beds, two dressers, a toy box, and a shelf for books. Sleeping there evoked ancient memories. We mostly cooked on fires outside. We all joined together around a big fire at night and made music or told jokes. Tara, who was five, and West, who was three, were adorable, blonde, blue eyed girls. They were easy to take care of. The first force to discuss is the supplier power. This force leads to buyer supplier relationships between firms and industries. • 9. The Development Of The Horror Genre Throughout The Years Makhi Hughes Section 5 15 November, 2016 Final Semester Paper The Development of the Horror Genre Throughout the Years Both horror and science fiction explore the boundaries of what is means to be human (Belton, 272). This is done by emphasizing the dilemmas of the figures who straddle the border of human and non human (Belton, 273). Horror and Sci fi contain narratives that take on a form of a search for knowledge that will enable the human race to overcome any obstacle that involves a supernatural force (Belton, 273); the story lines require a search or journey to resolve the issue. Horror and Sci fi often overlap when there is a monster featured in a sci fi film; or when a horror film is set in the future (Belton, 271). The two differ in purpose, horror, a sub genre for sci fi, was created to generate fear through a figure of a monster or supernatural being. While Sci fi has a chief purpose of focusing on science and reasoning (Belton, 272). The development of both genres is created to a number of works done throughout the years. The improvement of special effects, influences from the original masters of suspense, camera angles, and heightened elements of the horror film genre has allowed it to maintain its popular demand amongst audiences for decades. • 10. Violence And Racism In Wolf Whistle By Lewis Nordan Wolf whistle is based on a real life tragedy that occurred in 1955. Lewis Nordan, the author uses humor to alleviate the vicious tone that was given off from the violence and racism. During 1955 Jim Crow laws were in effect, so segregation and inequality was present throughout the whole novel. Jim Crow laws sparked a significant amount of unfair trials, where the guilty people were magically let go, unpunished. The Emmett Till case was one of the many unfair trials. It solely revolved around violence and racism, which still exists in our society today. Racism can and does lead to violence a majority of the time. It is detrimental flaw in society, where innocent people are killed daily due to their skin tone. In Wolf Whistle, Bobo was a fourteen year old African American boy that was murdered by two white men because he wolf whistled at a white female. He was killed simply because a white man named Solon thought that Bobo s action was outrageous due to his skin color. Unfortunately, racists people like Solon still walk among us today. The two literary works I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou and Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird can be seen as mockingbirds that have flown over fields of prejudice and repeat what they have seen for all to hear. Jem Finch, a young boy and lawyer s son from To Kill a Mockingbird clearly symbolizes a mockingbird because of his youth and innocence, and because of his innocence he cannot fully understand the racism in the story. While Jem was a young boy he acted very similar to the free bird in I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. He lived life to its fullest never stopping to think of the racism he was being shielded from. The free bird thinks of another breeze and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn and he names the sky his own. (Angelou, 14 18) In this stanza of the poem you can infer that the free bird is very happy with life and never thinks of anything upsetting. The upsetting things in this instance would be the racism in the story; the free bird never stops to think about the caged bird. As the summer progressed, so did our game. (Lee, pg. 52) When Jem and his sister Scout meet Dill, a boy in their neighbor s yard, they get to know him and play with him. They are always thinking of improving their game, living life to its fullest as much as a kid can. When they are playing said game, Jem never stops to think about the racism in the world and is shielded from it by the fun of being a kid. Concluding that they are similar characters because both Jem and the free bird enjoy their lives. Love, trickery, and deception are motifs used to develop a theme relatable to years later. Using love as a basis tricks are placed everywhere in the Italian town of Messina to spark the interest of two or to ruin the love. In Much ado About Nothing, William Shakespeare s explores the motif of deception, and how nothing is as it seems, connected to the human nature for people of love, deception is neither always good or always detrimental, it is how it is portrayed. Deception, at first glance, appears as a word usually in a negative tone, but in times the act of deception is used to benefit the characters lives. Nevertheless, Shakespeare allowed for deception to be played with when the characters never expected it. In of Much Ado About Nothing, deception is used in the way to help others. As an example, in Act 2 Scene 1 a ball took place where all the men and women were to dress in guises. Don Pedro, the prince, agreed to help Claudio woo Hero over so Claudio could no longer say he is a bachelor. This is an act of deception used in the positive effect. • 27. Rank Structure Essay The Importance of Rank Structure in the Marine Corps Rank structure is important to the Marine Corps because it form one of the fundamental backbones of military service. Many believe that with rank structure the Marine Corps or any other military organization could not function. This is has been proven fact over the centuries by the countless of mob armies that has arisen in history of the fall apart because they had no clear leadership. One of the ways that rank structure is important is that it is like a link of chains. This chain forms a link between the highest officer to the lowest of the enlisted. This chain allows for the anywhere in the chain of command for an order to be issued and it will go down the chain to the level ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is also one of the most important reasons for the rank structure to have been created is that any time a commander can find out the condition of his troops. And this of course is something that every commander especially if the commander is going in to a wartime environment would like to know what strength he is has. Rank structure is vital to the Marine Corps or any military organization because rank structure is the basis of where all discipline in the ranks comes from. Without a rank structure know one would know who is in charge of who and everyone would start to trying to take charge in their own way cause confusion and disorder through the ranks. Also without rank structure, when rules or orders are broken in a military organization it is up to the superior of that person to discipline that person, no one would know who was supposed to merit the discipline or who is supposed to carry out the discipline thus cause more chaos and anarchy. Therefore in conclusion we see that without rank structure, military organization such as the Marine Corps could not function. Without rank structure the Marine Corps would be in disorder and disarray, because it would have no idea who was in charge and who was suppose to be the foot soldiers. Therefore maintaining proper rank structure is the responsibility of the highest ranking officer to the lowest ranking private in boot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He had a difficult relationship with [him because he} was jealous of him and [beat] him when they [were] boys ( East ). Fighting for the love of Cyrus Trask, Charles took his anger out on Adam, scarring him and his view of his brother. Biblically paralleled with Cain, Charles truly affects Adam s look on any type of Cain figure that crosses paths with him, such as the effects of Cathy after she breaks his heart. Adam s son, Aron Trask, also has a Cain figure in his life as well. Aron is the innocent, good brother, in contrast to the aggressive, malicious Caleb just as Adam was in contrast with Charles ( East ). He and his twin brother aren t as aggressive as Adam and Charles were, but mentally and verbally. Caleb abuses Aron when he told Abra that Aron put a snake in her box making her reject him. Caleb is also jealous of Aron, but for his popularity. Charles and Caleb both effect Adam and Aron in a revealing way. Authors incorporate Shakespeare s writing in some way and change things a bit to make their own story. Reflection In literature class, we could apply this concept because many literary works are influenced by Shakespeare and other writings, which we can use to make connections and it can be considered as a text to text situation. A film called West Side Story is just like Romeo and Juliet because in both of the stories there are two rival groups and one person form one group falls in love with a person from their rival group. These two stories have common elements such as the rival gangs, and the type of love. Context The Bible is well recognized book, which has many allusions in it. The writers use these references to make it more meaningful. Reflection In literature class, we could apply this concept because allusions can create a lot of imagery, which adds more meaning to it. Religious or biblical references can also be used for irony. Allusions add hidden and deep meaning, due to the fact it s an indirect reference. For example, in the book Macbeth, Shakespeare uses the Golgotha as an allusion. Context Many writers integrate other literary works into their writing. In addition, factors like World War I, developments in psychology and later the depression, all bought into question, some of the basic assumptions of Scientific Management. His focus projected from an emphasis on the organization to an analysis of the nature of an individual. He placed priority on tension between the organization and the individual noting that ...organizations are constructed for particular purposes, but they employ individuals who may have widely divergent objectives and desires. (Jaffe, 74) Barnard noted that cooperation was needed for the organization to work effectively and efficiently. He discussed in his book, The Functions of the Executive, the relationship between incentives and contributions, and the need to join these together to meet an equilibrium of some sort. He claimed that this system would satisfy individuals and obtain contributions from them while at the same time making everyone happy. To do this, he used distribution hoping to gain cooperative activity from the employees. The executive needs to note that distribution can be good in one situation but ... • 37. The Contradiction Between Neorealism And Realism Events which took place after the end of the Cold War and the disintegration of the USSR, and in particular for the first year of the XXI century, demanded political scientists, sociologists, geopolitics, as well as psychologists revision of views on the theory of international relations. The variety of theories and attitudes existing today can ultimately be reduced to three known paradigms: realist (including classical realism and neorealism), liberal (traditional idealism and neo liberalism) and neo Marxist, each of which comes from its understanding of the nature and character of international relations. I suppose that today it is relevant to look at the contradiction between neorealism and neoliberalism. For the theory of political realism, the concept of interest defined in terms of power is the central, as well as the related concept of balance of power, geopolitical strategy, etc. In neorealism, which was first outlined by Kenneth Waltz, these accents are slightly displaced. Defending a structural understanding of power, neo realism does not reduce the balance of power to the military component, and includes economic, information and ... • 38. The Rape Of The Daughters Of Leucipus Analysis This art piece is titled The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus and the artist is Peter Paul Rubins. This work was created in 1618 in what was probably Antwerp, Belgium. The socio cultural situation during at that time and place was tense with the short 12 year truce during Eighty Years War that resumed in 1619. This war was being fought at this time in what was called the Low Countries (comprised of some of modern Belgium) and included Antwerp. There were also conflicting religions with Protestants and Catholics at this time as seen with the Thirty Years War that began in 1618. This piece is made of oil paint and was made by using a brush to paint the oil onto the canvas. The story being told here is about the Greek myth of two twin brothers named Pollux and Castor who kidnapped and married the daughters of King Leucippus. Two recognizable images are Castor, who is dressed in garb common for a horse tamer, while Pollux is completely nude. In the image, it is clear that the two daughters are being taken away against their will by the two men with their horses. The exact location of this event is not clear but it appears to be occurring in a green valley of some sort where trees and hills can be seen in the background. Essay about Historical Analysis of the Military Draft Policy Historical Analysis of the Military Draft Policy The Constitution adopted in 1789 gave Congress the power to raise and support armies, but it neither mentioned nor prohibited conscription. The Framers left that issue to the future, although most of them believed that the United States like Britain would enlist its men rather than conscript them, and would pay for its armies through the power to tax. Not until World War I did the United States rely primarily upon conscription. The Selective Service Act of 1917 was adopted in large part because a civilian led preparedness movement had persuaded many Americans that a selective national draft was the most equitable and efficient way for an industrial society to raise a wartime army. ... It was resumed again in 1980 by President Carter in response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Registration continues today as a hedge against underestimating the number of servicemen needed in a future crisis. (Berger 1981) Draft Procedure and Policy When a crisis occurs which requires more troops than the volunteer military can supply, Congress passes and the President signs legislation which starts a draft. It should be noted that the President cannot initiate a draft on his own. Congress would first have to pass legislation (both the House and Senate), and the President would have to sign the bill into law. • 40. Theme Of Expressionism In Bury The Dead The characters, conflicts and physical settings in Bury the Dead are all carefully constructed to initiate a specific emotional response. They are not created to be analyzed as being apart of reality. However, expressionism is not a subset of complete fantasy, it is a distilled form of reality in which an artist or author can focus specifically on an event, person or group of people and the subsequent inner reaction he or she wants to make aware to the audience. Expressionism can be found throughout literature, art and theater, therefore it is not difficult to exhibit similar reactions found in Bury the Dead in other mediums or even settings. A new transposition of Shaw s work would ardently relate the stark themes to a modern audience. The second facet of Shaw s play that stands out as essential is the use of sardonic wit in his dialogue. Verbal quips can be described as sardonic if they are intended to criticize or demean a person or group of people. For example, in Bury the Dead, the Doctor references the apathy of the Generals during his examinations. Shaw, primarily because the play is a form of propaganda, constructs the dialogue of every character to carry the weight of his thesis of dichotomy. This realization connects the sardonic wit back to the expressionistic characteristics. The characters and the setting are literary marionettes dancing to the music of propaganda, holding no free intelligence unaligned to Shaw s themes. In a vast sea of consumerism and ...
