Critical Issues Paper Of Testing Equality
Critical Issues Paper of Testing Equality

The diagnosis of students of autism brings long term effects that can increase the functionality of the
child s life. As we know, early diagnosis is key producing long term effects whenever families and
parents are diligent in getting their children help. Throughout the diagnosis process, it is imperative to
take every element into account. Considerations such as race, culture, and socioeconomic status may
affect the validity and reliability of the test. Although the test can be administered exactly as it should
be, there are many different characteristics of the child in their upbringing that can affect the outcome
of the results.
Whether a diagnosis of autism, or diagnosis of another disability is to be made, interventions can be
developed to add the child s tool belt on their waist of life. Research shows that the early intervention
can highly impact the likelihood of success (Krader, 2014). The American Academy of pediatric tells
us that the diagnosis procedure should start in children between 18 and 24 months. With the essential
screening process, recommendations can be used to begin intervention and start the help that the child
needs. As we have seen through research, not all children receive testing that proves equality (Krader,
2014).
Beginning diagnosis and testing process can be very intimidating to the parents, especially if this is

Why Do Sub-Saharan African Countries Fail
4. In general, the reason of high levels of poverty in Sub Saharan according to Jeffrey Sachs is that
unlike countries in Asia, African countries failed to get onto the ladder of development which means
exporting manufactures and services in world markets, and linked to the world in the networks of
production, trade, finance, and technology. There are two main reasons why Sub Saharan African
countries fail to get into globalization. Firstly, the corruption and mismanagement of its leaders.
Corruption is probably the most understandable reason for lack of development in this region. Take
Zimbabwe for example, Zimbabwe is considered one of the most corrupt nations in the world, ranking
163rd out of 176 countries on the latest Transparency International

Martin Luther King Jr Diction
The United States had struggled with racism and segregation for many years before 1963. However,
Martin Luther King Jr had a global goal to end racism and segregation. In the I Have a Dream speech
by Martin Luther King Jr, the speech was given on August 28th, 1963 in front of countless African
Americans fighting for their right to freedom. Martin Luther King Jr s argument utilizes diction,
imagery, and similes to demand that America needs to change the social norms that have developed
over time. Martin Luther King Jr. uses strong diction to bring up the idea of change within the United
States. He uses the word, shameful to open the eyes of the audience when talking about how the
African Americans have been treated for many years. Martin Luther King Jr. begins discussing the
past, in order to compare the differences between what was happening then compared to what he
wants to change, and how he plans on changing segregation and racism around the world. Martin
Luther King Jr., also uses the strong word, insufficient in order to argue that African Americans are not
having the same rights and opportunities that most of the whites are having at the time. Although
Martin Luther King Jr. appears to be using his angry diction in order to guide many Americans
towards change within the community, his effective use of strong diction seems to push the audience
in order to make the change that the United States citizens want. The angry diction that Martin Luther

Analysis Of Dale Carnegie s Book How On Win Friends And...
Dale Carnegie s book, How to Win Friends and Influence People, discusses 30 principles that are
essential to the life of an individual and how they can contribute to their career success. These
principles, if applied with good effort, can be useful to one s daily life in business. The first standard
Carnegie discusses is to not criticize, condemn, or complain (80). In my life, I have seen this principle
in action through the way people treat and interact with others. It is important to not be critical of the
efforts of others because they are working hard to be successful like everyone else and we must be
conscious of the impact our words have on people around us. I have found myself degrading the
efforts of others out of jealousy which caused me to feel guilty about the words I chose to say. The
words a person chooses to say can mean the difference between the continuation or termination of a
relationship. The second principle the book discussed is to give sincere and honest appreciation to
others (80). In my lifetime, I have seen honesty and sincerity serve as a valuable asset to my education
because showing appreciation to my professors for their mentorship and teaching has helped me grow
in knowledge of accounting, professionalism, and relationships. It is important to be grateful for the
opportunities a person is given to use their gifts and talents. The skills I have acquired while in college
will continue to instrumental in my growth and future potential. The

The Collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Essay
The Collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge
The Tacoma Narrows Bridge is perhaps the most notorious failure in the world of engineering. It
collapsed on November 7, 1940 just months after its opening on July 1, 1940. It was designed by Leon
Moisseiff and at its time it was the third largest suspension bridge in the world with a center span of
over half a mile long. The bridge was very narrow and sleek giving it a look of grace, but this design
made it very flexible in the wind. Nicknamed the Galloping Gertie, because of its undulating behavior,
the Tacoma Narrows Bridge drew the attention of motorists seeking a cheap thrill. Drivers felt that
they were driving on a roller coaster, as they would disappear from sight in the trough of ... Show

It is shaped in a way to transfer weight to the towers and anchors with its tension (O Connor, 1971, p.
372). Cables are made of high strength wires spirally bound to form a rope (O Connor, 1971, p. 372).
Vertical cable suspenders that are fastened to the main cables hang the actual roadway. Stiffening
girders and trusses are along the side of the bridge to distribute concentrated loads and help to keep
the motion of the bridge at a minimum (Troitsky, 1994, p115).
The basic design of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge itself was a suspension bridge with a center span of
2800 feet and two side spans of one 1100 feet (Farquharson, 1950, p. 17). Its two lane, reinforced
concrete roadway was twenty six feet wide with two 5 foot, 9 inch sidewalks (Farquharson, 1950, p.
19). Overall the superstructure was 5939 feet, including the suspension structures, approach spans and
anchorages (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Anchorages were made of solid concrete and were fifty feet by
170 feet and were fifty feet high (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). The main towers which the cables saddle
were 425 feet in height and with a spacing of thirty nine feet at the top and fifty feet at the bottom
(Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Each cable consisted of nineteen strands of galvanized wire and totaled a
diameter of seventeen inches. The design of the bridge may sound rather large and structurally stable
but as mentioned before the bridge was designed to be very sleek looking. By

Symbolism In Cathedral By Raymond Carver
Symbolism plays a big role in the short story by Raymond Carver because only towards the end of the
story we find out why the story is called Cathedral. The short story is called Cathedral because as the
narrator and Robert, the blind man, are watching television Robert asks the narrator to describe him
what a cathedral looks like since he has never been able to see one. However, because the narrator
stated that he does not believe in something in particular, to him a cathedral is just a building that took
about a hundred years to build and that they are very big and made of stone. But because Robert is not
physically capable of seeing one for himself, the narrators description isn t helping too much. Then
Robert had given the suggestion

Disagreements Between North And South America In 1787
Autumn M, Colin H, Brayden C.Harding, Kyle R and Adam C In Philadelphia in 1787, 55 delegates
including George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Gouverneur Morris attended the Convention to
improve the Article of Confederation. There, they also discussed the many issues between the North
and South. There were many disagreements between the Northern and Southern states, here are the
two main disagreements. The first disagreement was the Southern states wanted to keep slavery
mostly for their own farms, so they can gain money from the slave labor. The other disagreement was
the North was so against slavery that Governor Morris denounced slavery. He said it was the curse of
heaven . This led up to the fugitive slave clause and it states, a slave who escapes from slavery to a
state where slavery was prohibited, shall be delivered up on claim. The Southern states wanted this so
that their slaves would not run away, the Northern didn t want this because they were against slavery.
Tariffs was a common disagreement they both had. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

were necessary for their business to prosper. The Southern states argued that tariffs would increase the
cost of the manufactured goods that they bought from European Nations. The fugitive slave clause
states that a person who escaped from slavery was prohibited shall be delivered up on claim of the
party whom such service or labor may be due If a slave escapes they must be brought back to their

Favelas In Brazil Research Paper
Favelas in Brazil have always had a somewhat rough background in getting along with outsiders.
Meaning drug lords, gangs, and occasional gun shootouts with the police. There is no doubt that it is a
dangerous area to be in. Though you d expect the people living there to want to leave to get out of that
situation. It is actually quite different they like where they re at. None of them really mind where they
are and favelas support a total of 1.5 million people, which is about 24% of the population in Brazil.
Though living in one is also a close resemblance to slum life, or an overcrowded area, occupied by
very poor people. There are some that are seen as a more high functioning, and have been developing
in new and extraordinary ways. Favelas do indeed have a darker side. Since they are such tight space
with so many people, this area, have become a popular spot for crimes, and for drugs. Most are ruled
by drug lords. Who traffic cocaine, and encourage gang violence. The government brought in military
force to try to help with this, with a high success in 2010. The protection is slowly deteriorating, as

Detection Capabilities Of Endpoint Antivirus Solutions
Many enterprises have trouble discovering advanced threats because they exclusively rely on the
limited detection capabilities of endpoint antivirus solutions. The figure below demonstrates how
signatures are significantly better at discovering opportunistic attackers. This is because opportunistic
attackers find value in scale. Their objective is to compromise as many endpoints as possible and as a
result are likely to have a signature developed shortly thereafter. The advanced attacker who only
targets a finite number of assets needed to accomplish a specific mission can remain below the
detection threshold and go significant amounts of time without registering a signature, if they register
one at all. Additionally, an advanced attacker can move laterally to more critical systems in an attempt
to escalate their privileges within an environment. If the attacker succeeds, they can come and go as
they please within a given enterprise living off the land by leveraging built in tools to reduce the
number of new executables reducing the amount of change they introduce into the environment. As a
result, the attacker can persist for long periods of time by adding more user and system accounts. By
proactively deploying continuous data collection to track an attacker s every move, and classifying
threats by leveraging robust threat intelligence, enterprises can hunt across the attacker s entire kill
chain. The example below also illustrates the shortcomings of endpoint

the funding that they had received. Once a month the teens get to plan out what they want to do that
month. Some of the things that get chosen are improv, creative writing, trivia, game day, arts and
crafts, scavenger hunts, murder mysteries and the occasional game of Quidditch at the park. The

Importance Of Islam In The Long Distance Trade
Islam played a key role in the long distance trade between the South China Sea and the Mediterranean
Sea from the 7th century until the late 15th century. During this time, Islam had a large number of
merchants which allowed for them to play such a role in the expansion of trade and which also
allowed for the expansion of Islam as a religion. The Silk Road was the most used land routes between
the 7th and 15th century and this was because it was the largest, most active trade routes that stretched
the longest distance which allowed for further reach of resources, commodities, ideas, technology, and
religion. The silk road had many different land and sea routes that went a range of distances and to a
variety of different places. The role that Islam played in the trade between the South China Sea and
the Mediterranean Sea, was also beneficial for them. The long distance trade allowed for Islam to
grow and develop in many ways. Due to the extreme distances that the trade routes covered, Islam, the
second largest religion, behind Christianity, was able to share their beliefs as a culture and as a
religion. There were many different key assets and events that help with the expansion of the long
distance trade routes and their goods between the 7th and the 15th century. During this time,
Muhammad was a key figure in the Islamic religion and the Islamic culture. Which also meant that he
was a key role in helping Islam gain its role in the long distance trade. The prophet

All The Shah s Men
All the Shah s Men by Stephen Kinzer details the 1953 American orchestrated coup in Iran. Iran was
under British economic control, but as it modernized, Iranians began fighting for their own control.
Their fledgling democracy was working to modernize, until the UK and the US decided to interfere to
protect Britain s colonial holdings from Soviet influence. Because the US was not interested in
protecting a British business, British politicians emphasized the threat the USSR held to Iran, leading
to Americans inserting themselves into a nation s politics in which they had no place. They
successfully orchestrated a coup, however, the negative, long term, anti Western results overwhelm
any positive effect. All the Shah s Men by Stephen Kinzer paints a picture of the results of action
without adequate attention to future results.
All the Shah s Men details the Iranian coup of 1953. The British, as a colonial power, ran the Anglo
Iranian Oil Company, which provided much of the oil Britain needed during World War II. Not only
that, but it provided large amounts of revenue for the nation. Meanwhile, the Iranians were not
benefiting from the arrangement, as the British mistreated the Iranian workers and paid only a minute
amount of the profits to the Iranian government. A politician, Mossadegh, arose who would work to
nationalize Iranian oil production, taking away economic and political power from the British.
Obviously, the British were unwilling to accept this, and, incensed at

Fuel Usage Of Electric Vehicles
Introduction
In 2015, transport energy demand in New Zealand was up 2305.56 GWh, the largest annual increase
in 20 years (MBIE, 2016). This energy came from non renewable fossil fuels, and as such is not
sustainable in the long term. The subject of this research is to investigate the impact of targeting 20%
of the light passenger fleet being electric.
The current electric vehicle fleet is less than 1% of the light passenger fleet, which consists mainly of
petrol and diesel vehicles (Ministry of Transport (MoT), 2016). If the New Zealand government hopes
to increase this figure to 20%, one of the main driving factors is reducing fossil fuel consumption.
At face value, electric vehicles are the solution to reducing fossil fuel usage in the ... Show more

Vehicle fleet data (MoT, 2015) reveal that 29,249 million kilometres were travelled by 2,811,703 light
passenger vehicles (LPV) on petrol. Hence, the average km travelled per LPV was:29,249 million
kilometres2,811,703 LPV=10402.69 km/LPV The average light petrol fleet fuel economy in 2015 was
9.59 L(petrol)/100km (MoT, 2015). Thus, on average, each LPV used:
10402.69 km/LPV9.59 L(petrol)/100km =997.91 L(petrol)/LPV Hence, the total petrol consumed by
20% of vehicles in the LPF is:
997.91 L(petrol)/LPV603,624 LPV=602.36 million L(petrol)
Consequently, this means that electric vehicles will save about 600 million litres per year if they
replaced 20% of the LPF. Furthermore, in terms of CO2 emissions this equates to: 22.9619.59
L/100km10402.69 km/LPV603624 LPV=13,826,796.2 kgCO2 not emitted from petrol consumption
per year.
Total fossil fuel offset
While electric vehicles do not directly burn fossil fuels, electricity production does. As a result, the
total fossil fuel offset from electric vehicles is less than the fossil fuels burned when using petrol
vehicles.
A popular electric vehicle in NZ is the Nissan Leaf (MoT, 2017). The following calculations use the
specifications of this car, which has an energy consumption rate of 18.7 kWh/100 km (US Department
of Energy, 2017). For an electric vehicle (EV) to travel the same distance annually as a typical light
passenger petrol vehicle, the amount of energy consumed is:

the difference between food and nonfood items has linked people with mental handicap to Pica. This
answer, however, is not supported by the examples of nonfood items that were consciously eaten by
people with limited mental gifts.
Pica can go unnoticed, and is usually only discovered when a health problem strikes. It can remain
undetected for months or even years. Very often pica is detected when an individual suffers from an
intestinal blockage, intestinal tear, dental injury, or a poisoning infection linked with eating non food
substances. Blood tests will usually be carried out during, to determine if a mineral shortage could be
the cause. Pica is diagnosed in individuals who have routinely eaten non food substances for at least a
month, for whom this behavior is inappropriate to their developmental stage. Those who do not
consume these substances as part of a recognized cultural or religious practice will fit into the
category. Only a qualified doctor should make a diagnosis of Pica. Laboratory studies may be used to
access these answers. The choice of imaging or laboratory studies depends on the characteristics of the
ingested materials and the resulting medical problems. In addition to people having pica some animals

Stephen Crane s The Open Boat Essay
Stephen Crane s The Open Boat
Humanity often tends to see itself as being somehow important in the grand scheme of the Universe.
We speak of fate as if we were put here for some reason, or purpose. We have our religions, which
often serve as an engine to drive our lives and as a means to give meaning to them. But why do we
think of ourselves in such a superior fashion? Do we really matter at all? Would the Universe stop if
we were suddenly taken away? In his short story, The Open Boat, Stephen Crane shows us a Universe
totally unconcerned with the affairs of humankind; it is an indifferent Universe in which Man has to
struggle to survive. The characters in the story come face to face with this indifference and are nearly
overcome ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The men, however, seem removed from the clockwork of their surroundings; seperate, but somehow
in the midst of everything happening around them. This indifference causes the men to feel a certain
isolation from nature. They even go as far as to think of the Universe as being hostile: [The waves
were] nervously anxious to do something effective in the way of swamping boats. (1) This is,
however, just normal activity of nature, not any act of agression against Man.
Although the men are pitted against an uncaring sea, they still at this point seem to think their
destinies are controlled by some outside force. Their collective thoughts are given: If I am going to be
drowned if I am going to be drowned if I am going to be drowned, why, in the name of the seven mad
gods who rule the sea, was I allowed to come thus far and contemplate sand and trees?...If this old
ninny woman, Fate, cannot do better than this, she should be deprived of the management of men s
fortunes. (6) It soon dawns on them, though, that there is no fate, no purpose for their being where
they are. It is the realization of this fact that brings the men to the brink of despair: When it occurs to a
man that nature does not regard him as important, he at first wishes to throw bricks at the temple, and
he hates deeply the fact that there are no bricks and no temples. (6) It seems to them that their

Homemade Education By Malcolm X Analysis
Trying to communicate, but words aren t used, writing isn t used, it s simply impossible. When
communicating with others we use words, we speak, write, and read. But if one can t perform those
tasks, communication is simply out of reach. The essay Homemade Education by Malcolm X, a
minister and a civil right activist, describes how his experience of learning how to read and write in
prison changes his life as he became both an articulate speaker and writer. Similarly, Helen Keller, an
author and political activist shares her experience being both deaf and blind in an excerpt called A
Word for Everything. She explains how learning a new language opened her to all the joys and horrors
of the world. I, like many other authors, also had an experience concerning language and how it
changed my perspective of the world. Speaking Chinese and Vietnamese as my first languages in the
United States made me run into societal barriers and restrictions. However, by learning English, I
could open myself to new possibilities and experiences. By learning and struggling through the
experience of language; new perspectives are opened up such as how one views themselves, the
world, and society. There is a motive each person has that causes them to want to learn, experience,
and struggle with language. Malcolm X lacked writing skills and claimed that when he tried to write
in simple English, [he] not only wasn t articulate, [he] wasn t even functional (143). Malcolm X

The History Of World War II
To begin with second World war, or the largest war in the history of mankind, began on 1 September
1939 till 1945. It involved almost every part of the earth. World war 2 was the bloodiest conflict, more
than 40 million were found killed. The principal belligerents were the Axis powers Germany, Italy,
and Japan and the Allies France, Great Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union, and, to a lesser
extent, China. The war was in many respects a continuation, after an uneasy 20 year hiatus, of the
disputes left unsettled by World War II (Royde Smith). First of all, German on September 1 invaded
Poland. After that British and France declared war on September 3. In April and June 1940, German

October 13 Italy declared war on Germany. German fascist troops occupied its territory. In September,

A Case Of Statutes Trumping Common Law
This is a case of statutes trumping Common Law. The seller would allege that there was a mistake in
the advertisement and that, as advertisements are not offer, no contract was formed. This is a mistake,
as the facts demonstrate; New Jersey Vehicle Code § 4251 trumps the common law practices of offers
and mistakes. Lonergan v. Scolnick tells us that advertisements are simply manifestations of
willingness to enter into a bargain, but are not meant to justify another person in understanding that
his assent to that bargain is invited and will conclude it, as offers do (Restatement 2nd §24).
Therefore, the advertisement is not considered to be an offer to sell the vehicle at the stated price.
Under Common Law, ABC Motors would be able to refuse to sell the car at the mistaken price of
$25,000. However, in New Jersey, advertisements for the sale of automobiles are governed by a
statute, New Jersey Vehicle Code § 4251, stating, A dealer of automobiles in this state may not decline
or refuse to sell an automobile to any person at an advertised price while the vehicle remains unsold,
unless the advertisement states the advertised total price is good for only a specified period of time
and that time has elapsed. As this statute would trump the common law practice of advertisements not
being offers, ABC Motors advertisement is considered an offer that cannot be revoked while the
vehicle remains unsold and the expiration of the offer has not lapsed. After receiving the

great deal of consideration to ensure prosperity in the future.
Local government
Pequena Isla will use a general purpose and perform essential services such as law enforcement, park
services, maintaining roads, human services and public works (Dye MacManus, 2015). To ensure
quality educational services, they will also use a special purpose government to establish and maintain
school districts (Dye MacManus, 2015).
Form of government
A rural county government would make for an excellent political structure while giving the residents
common services. It would also give private businesses opportunities for maintenance, healthcare,

Undeclared War Analysis
An undeclared war can be defined as a struggle in which no formal declaration of war is stated by
either side in combat. In the United States, this occurs when the president utilizes his powers as
commander in chief to deploy troops for battle without the consent of Congress. By issuing the order
without waiting for a confirmation or rejection from the legislative branch, the president is effectively
able to bypass the requirement of Congressional approval for an authorized war and commence a
pseudo war of sorts, in which the typical wartime strategies are employed without the official title of a
war ever being established. One particularly disastrous period in which these conditions were met was
during the late twentieth century when John F. Kennedy oversaw the beginning of a Cold War era
conflict between the United States and Vietnam. This undeclared war resulted in over 58,000
American casualties and was a major topic of debate amongst both American citizens and members of
Congress (Keever, 2013).
Incensed by both public dissatisfaction over the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the Constitution expressly grants the president the title of commander in chief, the power to
give or revoke permission for military deployment to the legislative branch can only be found in the
text indirectly. In article I, section 8, clause 11 of the Constitution, Congress is given the power to
declare war . Those such as Stephen Carter, professor of law at Yale University, contend that with this
power, Congress should be able to prevent war as well. Without the authority to stop a president from
placing troops into areas of high contention, the ability to declare war or peace is rendered useless.
Therefore, a supporting argument can be made that the WPR is not an unconstitutional check on
presidential power, but rather a clarifying definition of what Congressional authority really should be

The story of Jesus birth is a well known part of the Bible and an important part of Christian and
Catholic beliefs. The Nativity has been interpreted and written in many different ways, such as the two
poems Ava Maria Plena Gratia by Oscar Wilde and I saw a stable, low and very bare by Mary
Elizabeth Coleridge. Ava Maria Plena Gratia is a description of Mary s conception of Jesus when the
angel Gabriel visited her, while I saw a stable, low and very bare describes the events after Jesus birth
in the manger with the farm animals and his two parents around him. The two poems both describe
events that contribute to the Nativity, as well as the symbol of innocence, which is shown differently
through Mary and Jesus. Mary has been given many titles, such as the Madonna, the Holy Mother, the
Virgin Mary, Our Lady, and so on. Ave Maria Plena Gratia means see Hail Mary full of grace (Green),

Eyewitness Testimony Of The Human Eye
In eyewitness testimony the human eye can distort or change what it sees. There are many intricate
parts of the eye that contribute to people s daily vision. Not everyone has the same form and order of
cells in their eyes. The rod cells are located on the perimeter of the retina. While the cone cells are
compacted together in the middle of the retina. Both of these cell types are clustered together but, are
not placed evenly throughout the eye. When the form of the cells create central vision the vision is
clear. The other form of the eye is peripheral vision which has less clear vision. When someone looks
around the eye can take a quick glance at an object and see many things, yet so much is going on in
the eye to produce this image. The eyes take in everything they see to create a smooth movement. This
makes the brain look at it as a motion picture. The eyes see three dimensional to notice every side of
an object. This can result in two different types of vision. Binocular vision which is where sight is
produced from both eyes. The other type is Stereoscopic vision where both eyes collect different
angles of an image and gives it depth. All the different forms and and visions in the eye can create a
different perception for each individual. The eye ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Gap Between Development And Underdevelopment
In Walter Rodney s book he emphasizes the difference between development and underdevelopment.
According to Rodney, development is defined as a many sided process involving individuals, social
classes, and society as a whole. At the level of the individual it s represented by increased skill, greater
freedom, creativity, self discipline, responsibility and material well being. Rodney paid more attention
to material well being, freedom and skill at this individual representation. For Rodney the individual
development is directly linked to the development of the state. For the second side of development,
social class/group, Rodney states that development implies an increasing capacity to regulate both
internal and external relationships. For the society as a whole, development shows how man has the
ability to overcome downfalls and better their lives through making use of the earth s resources
available to him. In Rodney s book, he points out how Africa fits into these definitions of
development, but more so how they fit into the definition of underdevelopment.
Developed states are characterized by being highly industrialized, they have low unemployment,
improved social services, advanced farming industries with the technology to produce more in less
time and with fewer people. Underdevelopment should not be understood as the opposite or lack of
development but the very low level of development of a particular state when in comparison to other
states (especially wealthier

The Melting Point And Boiling Point
Results The results show that the highest melting point was 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid and the lowest
melting point was Sulfosalicylic Acid. The highest boiling point was Octanol and lowest boiling point
was Methanol. When it came to the percent error the highest percent error calculated was pentanol and
the lowest percent error was Propanol.
Discussion
During this lab the melting point ranges and boiling points were recorded from several substances.
Based upon the structures of these various samples certain trends were expected to be followed. For
example, with the melting points of pure substances are usually higher than the melting points of
impure substances. In this lab the melting point of Benzoic Acid, Salicylic Acid, 3 Hydroxybenzoic
Acid, 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid, and Sulfosalicylic Acid were taken. If we apply the concept of pure
substances having higher boiling points, it was expected for substances like 3 Hydroxybenzoic Acid
and 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid to have higher melting points and for substances like Benzoic Acid and
Salicylic Acid to have lower melting points. As for Sulfosalicylic Acid, its melting point was the
lowest so it was assumed that the substance was the most impure. It was proven that the fewer
impurities call for higher melting points. This is due to the crystalline lattices structure of repeating
ions or molecules. This lattice is held together by intermolecular forces that create a strong, stable
structure. The solid must be heated to a certain

How Do High School Sports Identify Second-Class Gender...
Title IX was the outcome of gender discrimination found in academics and athletics. Even though
many people can argue that it s not as present in schools as it was before its passing, it s still found in
many schools. One popular example of second class gender discrimination was identified at the
Sweetwaters District, when the girl s softball team lacked the benefits or other male sports, like
baseball. They lacked fundraising benefits, publicity support, equal access to coaching, recruiting and

Fine Arts Education Issues
According to the National Art Education Association s goals for schools, all elementary schools shall
require students to complete a sequential program of art instruction that integrates the study of art
production, aesthetics, art criticism, and art history, (Clark, 1987). Elementary schools are having
difficulty because they are cutting back on the fine arts programming and many non specialist
classroom teachers are expected to integrate the fine arts into their daily curriculum. Most of these
teachers feel inadequate and uncomfortable when teaching these subjects. The children are receiving
inadequate lessons in art education. All elementary schools should expand their curriculum to include

Will teachers have the money...more often than not, the answer is no, (Reardon, 1995). When budget
cuts are underway in school systems, the allotted amount of money for fine arts education is the first
to be reduced. Fine arts education should be considered a core subject in elementary schools. All
budgeting should be done so that all core areas receive an equal amount of money.
Because the fine arts are given a lower status than the traditional core subjects, schools fail to hire
licensed arts specialists. Schools then burden their classroom teachers by implementing poor quality
arts programs into their daily routines to fulfill certain art expectations. This not only discourages and
takes time away from classroom teachers, but also misrepresents the fine arts. Even when a fine arts
specialist is hired, they often are pushed into trying to teach other areas of art than what they were
hired for. In some cases, the requirements for becoming an arts specialist are so relaxed that many
communities don t believe that the fine arts should be taken very seriously. Luckily, national reports
are pushing for higher standards to become a fine arts specialist.
Impact on Students
It has been argued that the arts promote skills and abilities such as problem solving, teamwork, goal

introducing the fact that the German s were just like the allied forces, I remember once at Wipers we
had a man shot down...Next day we blew each other to blazes , no matter what happened the two sides

There is however some suggestion of injury, S M shrinks back and throws his hands across his face, as
though a human hand could ward off the hot flying pieces which give the text a definite dark tone to
the otherwise cheery mood. The likely explanation for a lack of graphic imagery is that the text was
intended as a play and therefore severe injuries would be complicated to apply mid performance.
Birdsong alternatively is a fairly graphic novel, Faulks was not afraid to describe in detail the shear
horror and physical grotesque of war. As Birdsong is a novel the inclusion of such description is far
more practical than in the play format of A Journey s End. Faulks uses violent imagery to captivate the
reader, well described events can be easily imagined by the reader and therefore creates far more
involvement with the characters and settings. His nose dangled and Stephan could see his teeth
through the missing cheek is a good example of violent imagery that is very effective in drawing the
reader in. The far greater amount of violence in Birdsong is likely to be because the text was published
far after the war, Faulks was far more informed about the war and he did not have to worry about
causing public upset. An element that plays big parts in both texts is the loss of battlefield friends and
the deaths of family

God Breathed And Is Useful For Teaching, Rebuking,...
16 All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness, (2 Timothy 3:16)
It s amazing how similar, and yet how different a couple can be. take my parents for instance. Both of
them enjoyed cooking, but they went about it in completely different ways.
My mother is the, by the book recipe follower. She may deviate if, over time she has found she had to
make some adjustments in seasoning, but by and large she is going to be exact, and do what the recipe
calls for.
My Dad was more the seat of the pants type. If my mother was the classical music type in cooking,
my Dad was the improvisational jazz type. I don t think he ever followed a recipe in his entire life. He
would go to the kitchen, begin looking at what we had and create something. You never knew what
you were going to get but it was usually pretty good.
Two different approaches, but they came up with the same results. They were able to do this because,
while they may have had a different way to go about it, they both still had to follow the rules of , the
physics of cooking. They both knew if you wanted something to taste good, and to be consistent you
had to have the same ingredients. Every time. Leaving out an ingredient could prove disastrous, and
could be the difference between a delicious meal and a disaster.
Take for instance the time in a mandatory high school home ec class I forgot to add baking powder to
a chocolate cake

Justice Is Justified By Plato s The Republic
For centuries, people have been asking the question, what is justice? Although justice is not sincerely
defined in Plato s The Republic, both Socrates and Thrasymachus enter into a deep discussion over
what justice truly is. After Socrates disproves Cephalus and Polemarchus explanations of justice,
Thrasymachus declares that justice is simply what is in the interest of the stronger party (338c).
Furthermore, he debunks justice altogether, arguing that justice is the strong exploiting the weak and
that the unjust lifestyle is better than the just lifestyle. The two elements that this paper will break
down is Thrasymachus s idea of justice and how he thinks that being unjust is better than being just.
Initially, Thrasymachus s sentiment of justice is simply what is in the interest of the stronger party
(338c). This causes Socrates to question Thrasymachus on what Thrasymachus means when he says
interest . Socrates wants Thrasymachus to simplify what he means by interest because everybody has
different interests. For example, a bartender has the interest of making drinks to satisfy his customers,
while a computer programmer has the interest of making programs to create advances in technology.
As a result, Thrasymachus categorizes the interest limited to only rulers and answers Socrates s
question that interest is what is right , each type of government enacts laws that are in its own interest,
a democracy democratic laws, a tyranny tyrannical ones and so on; and in

Pat Conroy s The Lords Of Discipline Essays
Pat Conroy s The Lords Of Discipline
Conroy displays his life through his novel, The Lords of Discipline, to give readers a visual
demonstration of how life connections can transform the entity of a novel. Conroy s attendance to the
Citadel, his family, and the South helped influence his innovative writing style. A lifetime in a
Southern family negated any possibility that he [Will/Conroy] could resign from the school under any
conditions other than unequivocal disgrace (6). Conroy s family held a strong control over his will to
renounce the hardship of the Citadel. A pervasive admiration for his mother runs through the book as

While Conroy s mother treated him with love, his father abused him both physically and mentally.
Through the book, Conroy mentions the torment he endured by his father s negligence and lack of
support. The Lords of Discipline is not the only book where Conroy mentions the abuse by his father,
like in his other novel The Great Santini, but it is the one where he incorporates the influence of his
father into why he attended the Citadel. Being raised in the South, with a long standing and proud
heritage, makes it difficult for Conroy to bow down and accept the control of the Citadel. His rejection
of their norms and expectancies can be seen throughout the book as Will McLean s refusal to
participate in the continual abuse of innocent plebes, and his apathetic emotions displayed about the
school in front of his peers, while on the contrary he feels a deep and passionate love for it. I did not
participate in the rituals of the plebe system. Cruelty was easier to forgive than forget (109). Conroy s
deep connection to the South allowed him to see first hand the different treatments given to those of
the upper classes and the African Americans. By making the main character, Will McLean, non racist,
Conroy innovates an idea that had been repressed at the

The Pros And Cons Of Plastic Bags
Since 1985, America has been using plastic bags due to them being waterproof and having handles
making them easier to carry goods. Paper and plastic has always been a huge controversy in super
markets through the preference of customers. Some customers prefer having the paper bags standing
up straight in the trunks of their cars. Other customers prefer the plastic bags because of the handles
making it easier to walk home and carry their goods. Although both preferences are fine, all customers
know the dangers of the plastic bag. Banning plastic bags from stores and replacing them with only
paper or reusable bags, will reduce corruption of organic products, reduce CO2 emissions from
creation and destruction of the plastic and prevent harm upon Earth and its creatures. Plastic bags were
first designed in 1965 by a Swedish company which later became known as the T shirt plastic bag ;
made from high density polyethylene, but It was in the late 1970s when Plastic bags first began to
terrorize the well being of humanity. More and more supermarkets in America began handing out
plastic bags as if they were candy on Halloween. The more plastic bags humans use, the more natural
resources are being destroyed. There are two different types of plastic bags that one may find in any
supermarket, high density polyethylene (HDPE) or low density polyethylene (LDPE). There isn t
much difference between them besides the fact that LDPE would be the tougher and more durable
bags you might find in department stores as well as any regular supermarket. They both require the
same materials for creation such as oil, gas and coal (fossil fuels). Fossil fuels are the prehistoric
resources formed by plants and animals that lived hundreds of millions of years ago. These fuels won t
be replaced for another millions of years to come, that is why they re called non renewable resources.
Plastic is very valuable, but humans decide that is more than okay to litter these valuable resources
than to recycle it and prevent some of the corruption and over usage of resources we may not have in a
distant future. Although plastic bags, as well as paper bags, can be recycled in order to postpone
running out of resources, the creation and

High School Jacket Research Paper
I threw my books on the bed and approached the jacket slowly, as if it were a celebrity I was about to
meet. My hands drugged acrossed the soft cold leather, the color of dark forest green and black.
From the kitchen my mom yelled that my jacket was in the closet. I slowly opened the closet hoping
my jacket was the one on my bed. Sure enough it was, right then I slipped into my jacket. It was a
little big on me so I would have it for at least three years. Looking at the jacket I could see my future,
all the girls around me, hanging out with the cool kids. It is like my jacket was one million dollars.
I slipped my jacket back on and looked in the mirror and realized that I would look good if I combed
my hair. My sleeves ran past my hands so I rolled the cuffs up, and ran down stairs and hugged my
mom like there was no life left in her Thank you! I screamed. I sprinted outside with my new style of
hair and jacket. As I was outside I tried to avoid my hungry dog, so I could show everyone how cool I
was in my new slick jacket. As I sat on the fence daydreaming about my jacket, two cool kids walked
over to me and invited me to hang out with there group of friends at school. At that moment, I knew
my jacket held a great future for me. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ripped my jacket, I can kiss my great future good bye. She tried again and again and again, finally she

Application Of An Information Literacy Program
access to information in many different formats such as print, electronic, and visual as well as
instruction that fosters competence as well as interest in reading, viewing and using information. The
last component in accomplishing the mission statement is for the library teacher to collaborate with
other educators to design instruction to best meet the needs of the students A strong information
literacy program is essential when it comes to helping students be able to use information effectively
throughout their life. The focus of an information literacy program is not merely to distribute
information but should focus on the process of learning. In order to determine if a program will help

(AASL, 2006) The other set of standards that guide the scope for the information literacy program
here in Utah are the Utah State Core Standards for the Library Media (grades 6 12). While there are is
some overlap between these two sets of standards they work together comprehensively to cover all
areas of information literacy. These standards are divided up into 3 clusters. The Utah State Standards
were designed to be taught through integration with other subject and content areas. The three clusters
include: Literacy: Reading Engagement
Literacy: Research and Information
Literacy: Media Engagement
Cluster one, reading engagement, focuses largely on promoting reading and creating lifelong readers
who read for enjoyment as well as out of need. It also includes using strategies to be able to
comprehend both recreational reading as well as informational texts. This cluster does a good job of
filling some of holes that appear in the AASL standards. The information and research strand hones in
on defining an information problem and identifying the information need. Some of the indicators in
this standard show that a learner can narrow or broaden an information search as well as seek
clarification from teachers and other resources. The third cluster, research and information includes
being able to identify, evaluate, and select sources. The indicators in this

  • 2. Critical Issues Paper Of Testing Equality Critical Issues Paper of Testing Equality Megan Randle University of North Texas The diagnosis of students of autism brings long term effects that can increase the functionality of the child s life. As we know, early diagnosis is key producing long term effects whenever families and parents are diligent in getting their children help. Throughout the diagnosis process, it is imperative to take every element into account. Considerations such as race, culture, and socioeconomic status may affect the validity and reliability of the test. Although the test can be administered exactly as it should be, there are many different characteristics of the child in their upbringing that can affect the outcome of the results. Whether a diagnosis of autism, or diagnosis of another disability is to be made, interventions can be developed to add the child s tool belt on their waist of life. Research shows that the early intervention can highly impact the likelihood of success (Krader, 2014). The American Academy of pediatric tells us that the diagnosis procedure should start in children between 18 and 24 months. With the essential screening process, recommendations can be used to begin intervention and start the help that the child needs. As we have seen through research, not all children receive testing that proves equality (Krader, 2014). Beginning diagnosis and testing process can be very intimidating to the parents, especially if this is their first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In general, the reason of high levels of poverty in Sub Saharan according to Jeffrey Sachs is that unlike countries in Asia, African countries failed to get onto the ladder of development which means exporting manufactures and services in world markets, and linked to the world in the networks of production, trade, finance, and technology. There are two main reasons why Sub Saharan African countries fail to get into globalization. Firstly, the corruption and mismanagement of its leaders. Corruption is probably the most understandable reason for lack of development in this region. Take Zimbabwe for example, Zimbabwe is considered one of the most corrupt nations in the world, ranking 163rd out of 176 countries on the latest Transparency International ... • 8. Martin Luther King Jr Diction The United States had struggled with racism and segregation for many years before 1963. However, Martin Luther King Jr had a global goal to end racism and segregation. In the I Have a Dream speech by Martin Luther King Jr, the speech was given on August 28th, 1963 in front of countless African Americans fighting for their right to freedom. Martin Luther King Jr s argument utilizes diction, imagery, and similes to demand that America needs to change the social norms that have developed over time. Martin Luther King Jr. uses strong diction to bring up the idea of change within the United States. He uses the word, shameful to open the eyes of the audience when talking about how the African Americans have been treated for many years. Martin Luther King Jr. begins discussing the past, in order to compare the differences between what was happening then compared to what he wants to change, and how he plans on changing segregation and racism around the world. Martin Luther King Jr., also uses the strong word, insufficient in order to argue that African Americans are not having the same rights and opportunities that most of the whites are having at the time. Although Martin Luther King Jr. appears to be using his angry diction in order to guide many Americans towards change within the community, his effective use of strong diction seems to push the audience in order to make the change that the United States citizens want. • 9. Analysis Of Dale Carnegie s Book How On Win Friends And... Dale Carnegie s book, How to Win Friends and Influence People, discusses 30 principles that are essential to the life of an individual and how they can contribute to their career success. These principles, if applied with good effort, can be useful to one s daily life in business. The first standard Carnegie discusses is to not criticize, condemn, or complain (80). In my life, I have seen this principle in action through the way people treat and interact with others. It is important to not be critical of the efforts of others because they are working hard to be successful like everyone else and we must be conscious of the impact our words have on people around us. I have found myself degrading the efforts of others out of jealousy which caused me to feel guilty about the words I chose to say. The words a person chooses to say can mean the difference between the continuation or termination of a relationship. The second principle the book discussed is to give sincere and honest appreciation to others (80). In my lifetime, I have seen honesty and sincerity serve as a valuable asset to my education because showing appreciation to my professors for their mentorship and teaching has helped me grow in knowledge of accounting, professionalism, and relationships. It is important to be grateful for the opportunities a person is given to use their gifts and talents. The skills I have acquired while in college will continue to instrumental in my growth and future potential. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Essay The Collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge The Tacoma Narrows Bridge is perhaps the most notorious failure in the world of engineering. It collapsed on November 7, 1940 just months after its opening on July 1, 1940. It was designed by Leon Moisseiff and at its time it was the third largest suspension bridge in the world with a center span of over half a mile long. The bridge was very narrow and sleek giving it a look of grace, but this design made it very flexible in the wind. Nicknamed the Galloping Gertie, because of its undulating behavior, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge drew the attention of motorists seeking a cheap thrill. Drivers felt that they were driving on a roller coaster, as they would disappear from sight in the trough of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stiffening girders and trusses are along the side of the bridge to distribute concentrated loads and help to keep the motion of the bridge at a minimum (Troitsky, 1994, p115). The basic design of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge itself was a suspension bridge with a center span of 2800 feet and two side spans of one 1100 feet (Farquharson, 1950, p. 17). Its two lane, reinforced concrete roadway was twenty six feet wide with two 5 foot, 9 inch sidewalks (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Overall the superstructure was 5939 feet, including the suspension structures, approach spans and anchorages (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Anchorages were made of solid concrete and were fifty feet by 170 feet and were fifty feet high (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). The main towers which the cables saddle were 425 feet in height and with a spacing of thirty nine feet at the top and fifty feet at the bottom (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Each cable consisted of nineteen strands of galvanized wire and totaled a diameter of seventeen inches. The design of the bridge may sound rather large and structurally stable but as mentioned before the bridge was designed to be very sleek looking. By ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There, they also discussed the many issues between the North and South. There were many disagreements between the Northern and Southern states, here are the two main disagreements. The first disagreement was the Southern states wanted to keep slavery mostly for their own farms, so they can gain money from the slave labor. The other disagreement was the North was so against slavery that Governor Morris denounced slavery. He said it was the curse of heaven . This led up to the fugitive slave clause and it states, a slave who escapes from slavery to a state where slavery was prohibited, shall be delivered up on claim. • 16. Detection Capabilities Of Endpoint Antivirus Solutions Many enterprises have trouble discovering advanced threats because they exclusively rely on the limited detection capabilities of endpoint antivirus solutions. The figure below demonstrates how signatures are significantly better at discovering opportunistic attackers. This is because opportunistic attackers find value in scale. Their objective is to compromise as many endpoints as possible and as a result are likely to have a signature developed shortly thereafter. The advanced attacker who only targets a finite number of assets needed to accomplish a specific mission can remain below the detection threshold and go significant amounts of time without registering a signature, if they register one at all. Additionally, an advanced attacker can move laterally to more critical systems in an attempt to escalate their privileges within an environment. If the attacker succeeds, they can come and go as they please within a given enterprise living off the land by leveraging built in tools to reduce the number of new executables reducing the amount of change they introduce into the environment. As a result, the attacker can persist for long periods of time by adding more user and system accounts. By proactively deploying continuous data collection to track an attacker s every move, and classifying threats by leveraging robust threat intelligence, enterprises can hunt across the attacker s entire kill chain. The example below also illustrates the shortcomings of endpoint ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Importance Of Islam In The Long Distance Trade Islam played a key role in the long distance trade between the South China Sea and the Mediterranean Sea from the 7th century until the late 15th century. During this time, Islam had a large number of merchants which allowed for them to play such a role in the expansion of trade and which also allowed for the expansion of Islam as a religion. The Silk Road was the most used land routes between the 7th and 15th century and this was because it was the largest, most active trade routes that stretched the longest distance which allowed for further reach of resources, commodities, ideas, technology, and religion. The silk road had many different land and sea routes that went a range of distances and to a variety of different places. The role that Islam played in the trade between the South China Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, was also beneficial for them. The long distance trade allowed for Islam to grow and develop in many ways. Due to the extreme distances that the trade routes covered, Islam, the second largest religion, behind Christianity, was able to share their beliefs as a culture and as a religion. There were many different key assets and events that help with the expansion of the long distance trade routes and their goods between the 7th and the 15th century. • 20. All The Shah s Men All the Shah s Men by Stephen Kinzer details the 1953 American orchestrated coup in Iran. Iran was under British economic control, but as it modernized, Iranians began fighting for their own control. Their fledgling democracy was working to modernize, until the UK and the US decided to interfere to protect Britain s colonial holdings from Soviet influence. Because the US was not interested in protecting a British business, British politicians emphasized the threat the USSR held to Iran, leading to Americans inserting themselves into a nation s politics in which they had no place. They successfully orchestrated a coup, however, the negative, long term, anti Western results overwhelm any positive effect. All the Shah s Men by Stephen Kinzer paints a picture of the results of action without adequate attention to future results. All the Shah s Men details the Iranian coup of 1953. The British, as a colonial power, ran the Anglo Iranian Oil Company, which provided much of the oil Britain needed during World War II. Not only that, but it provided large amounts of revenue for the nation. Meanwhile, the Iranians were not benefiting from the arrangement, as the British mistreated the Iranian workers and paid only a minute amount of the profits to the Iranian government. • 21. Fuel Usage Of Electric Vehicles Introduction In 2015, transport energy demand in New Zealand was up 2305.56 GWh, the largest annual increase in 20 years (MBIE, 2016). This energy came from non renewable fossil fuels, and as such is not sustainable in the long term. The subject of this research is to investigate the impact of targeting 20% of the light passenger fleet being electric. The current electric vehicle fleet is less than 1% of the light passenger fleet, which consists mainly of petrol and diesel vehicles (Ministry of Transport (MoT), 2016). If the New Zealand government hopes to increase this figure to 20%, one of the main driving factors is reducing fossil fuel consumption. At face value, electric vehicles are the solution to reducing fossil fuel usage in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Vehicle fleet data (MoT, 2015) reveal that 29,249 million kilometres were travelled by 2,811,703 light passenger vehicles (LPV) on petrol. Hence, the average km travelled per LPV was:29,249 million kilometres2,811,703 LPV=10402.69 km/LPV The average light petrol fleet fuel economy in 2015 was 9.59 L(petrol)/100km (MoT, 2015). Thus, on average, each LPV used: 10402.69 km/LPV9.59 L(petrol)/100km =997.91 L(petrol)/LPV Hence, the total petrol consumed by 20% of vehicles in the LPF is: 997.91 L(petrol)/LPV603,624 LPV=602.36 million L(petrol) Consequently, this means that electric vehicles will save about 600 million litres per year if they replaced 20% of the LPF. Furthermore, in terms of CO2 emissions this equates to: 22.9619.59 L/100km10402.69 km/LPV603624 LPV=13,826,796.2 kgCO2 not emitted from petrol consumption per year. The following calculations use the specifications of this car, which has an energy consumption rate of 18.7 kWh/100 km (US Department of Energy, 2017). • 23. Stephen Crane s The Open Boat Essay Stephen Crane s The Open Boat Humanity often tends to see itself as being somehow important in the grand scheme of the Universe. We speak of fate as if we were put here for some reason, or purpose. We have our religions, which often serve as an engine to drive our lives and as a means to give meaning to them. But why do we think of ourselves in such a superior fashion? Do we really matter at all? Would the Universe stop if we were suddenly taken away? This indifference causes the men to feel a certain isolation from nature. They even go as far as to think of the Universe as being hostile: [The waves were] nervously anxious to do something effective in the way of swamping boats. (1) This is, however, just normal activity of nature, not any act of agression against Man. (6) It soon dawns on them, though, that there is no fate, no purpose for their being where they are. It is the realization of this fact that brings the men to the brink of despair: When it occurs to a man that nature does not regard him as important, he at first wishes to throw bricks at the temple, and he hates deeply the fact that there are no bricks and no temples. When communicating with others we use words, we speak, write, and read. But if one can t perform those tasks, communication is simply out of reach. The essay Homemade Education by Malcolm X, a minister and a civil right activist, describes how his experience of learning how to read and write in prison changes his life as he became both an articulate speaker and writer. Similarly, Helen Keller, an author and political activist shares her experience being both deaf and blind in an excerpt called A Word for Everything. She explains how learning a new language opened her to all the joys and horrors of the world. I, like many other authors, also had an experience concerning language and how it changed my perspective of the world. Speaking Chinese and Vietnamese as my first languages in the United States made me run into societal barriers and restrictions. However, by learning English, I could open myself to new possibilities and experiences. By learning and struggling through the experience of language; new perspectives are opened up such as how one views themselves, the world, and society. The seller would allege that there was a mistake in the advertisement and that, as advertisements are not offer, no contract was formed. This is a mistake, as the facts demonstrate; New Jersey Vehicle Code § 4251 trumps the common law practices of offers and mistakes. Lonergan v. Scolnick tells us that advertisements are simply manifestations of willingness to enter into a bargain, but are not meant to justify another person in understanding that his assent to that bargain is invited and will conclude it, as offers do (Restatement 2nd §24). Therefore, the advertisement is not considered to be an offer to sell the vehicle at the stated price. Under Common Law, ABC Motors would be able to refuse to sell the car at the mistaken price of $25,000. However, in New Jersey, advertisements for the sale of automobiles are governed by a statute, New Jersey Vehicle Code § 4251, stating, A dealer of automobiles in this state may not decline or refuse to sell an automobile to any person at an advertised price while the vehicle remains unsold, unless the advertisement states the advertised total price is good for only a specified period of time and that time has elapsed. In the United States, this occurs when the president utilizes his powers as commander in chief to deploy troops for battle without the consent of Congress. By issuing the order without waiting for a confirmation or rejection from the legislative branch, the president is effectively able to bypass the requirement of Congressional approval for an authorized war and commence a pseudo war of sorts, in which the typical wartime strategies are employed without the official title of a war ever being established. One particularly disastrous period in which these conditions were met was during the late twentieth century when John F. Kennedy oversaw the beginning of a Cold War era conflict between the United States and Vietnam. There are many intricate parts of the eye that contribute to people s daily vision. Not everyone has the same form and order of cells in their eyes. • 37. The Gap Between Development And Underdevelopment In Walter Rodney s book he emphasizes the difference between development and underdevelopment. According to Rodney, development is defined as a many sided process involving individuals, social classes, and society as a whole. At the level of the individual it s represented by increased skill, greater freedom, creativity, self discipline, responsibility and material well being. Rodney paid more attention to material well being, freedom and skill at this individual representation. For Rodney the individual development is directly linked to the development of the state. For the second side of development, social class/group, Rodney states that development implies an increasing capacity to regulate both internal and external relationships. For the society as a whole, development shows how man has the ability to overcome downfalls and better their lives through making use of the earth s resources available to him. In Rodney s book, he points out how Africa fits into these definitions of development, but more so how they fit into the definition of underdevelopment. Developed states are characterized by being highly industrialized, they have low unemployment, improved social services, advanced farming industries with the technology to produce more in less time and with fewer people. Underdevelopment should not be understood as the opposite or lack of development but the very low level of development of a particular state when in comparison to other states (especially wealthier ... In this lab the melting point of Benzoic Acid, Salicylic Acid, 3 Hydroxybenzoic Acid, 4 Hydroxybenzoic Acid, and Sulfosalicylic Acid were taken. As for Sulfosalicylic Acid, its melting point was the lowest so it was assumed that the substance was the most impure. It was proven that the fewer impurities call for higher melting points. Fine arts education should be considered a core subject in elementary schools. All budgeting should be done so that all core areas receive an equal amount of money. Because the fine arts are given a lower status than the traditional core subjects, schools fail to hire licensed arts specialists. Schools then burden their classroom teachers by implementing poor quality arts programs into their daily routines to fulfill certain art expectations. This not only discourages and takes time away from classroom teachers, but also misrepresents the fine arts. There is however some suggestion of injury, S M shrinks back and throws his hands across his face, as though a human hand could ward off the hot flying pieces which give the text a definite dark tone to the otherwise cheery mood. The likely explanation for a lack of graphic imagery is that the text was intended as a play and therefore severe injuries would be complicated to apply mid performance. Birdsong alternatively is a fairly graphic novel, Faulks was not afraid to describe in detail the shear horror and physical grotesque of war. As Birdsong is a novel the inclusion of such description is far more practical than in the play format of A Journey s End. Faulks uses violent imagery to captivate the reader, well described events can be easily imagined by the reader and therefore creates far more involvement with the characters and settings. His nose dangled and Stephan could see his teeth through the missing cheek is a good example of violent imagery that is very effective in drawing the reader in. The far greater amount of violence in Birdsong is likely to be because the text was published far after the war, Faulks was far more informed about the war and he did not have to worry about causing public upset. An element that plays big parts in both texts is the loss of battlefield friends and the deaths of family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. God Breathed And Is Useful For Teaching, Rebuking,... 16 All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, (2 Timothy 3:16) It s amazing how similar, and yet how different a couple can be. take my parents for instance. Both of them enjoyed cooking, but they went about it in completely different ways. My mother is the, by the book recipe follower. She may deviate if, over time she has found she had to make some adjustments in seasoning, but by and large she is going to be exact, and do what the recipe calls for. My Dad was more the seat of the pants type. If my mother was the classical music type in cooking, my Dad was the improvisational jazz type. I don t think he ever followed a recipe in his entire life. He would go to the kitchen, begin looking at what we had and create something. You never knew what you were going to get but it was usually pretty good. Two different approaches, but they came up with the same results. They were able to do this because, while they may have had a different way to go about it, they both still had to follow the rules of , the physics of cooking. They both knew if you wanted something to taste good, and to be consistent you had to have the same ingredients. Every time. Leaving out an ingredient could prove disastrous, and could be the difference between a delicious meal and a disaster. Take for instance the time in a mandatory high school home ec class I forgot to add baking powder to a chocolate cake ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Justice Is Justified By Plato s The Republic For centuries, people have been asking the question, what is justice? Although justice is not sincerely defined in Plato s The Republic, both Socrates and Thrasymachus enter into a deep discussion over what justice truly is. After Socrates disproves Cephalus and Polemarchus explanations of justice, Thrasymachus declares that justice is simply what is in the interest of the stronger party (338c). Furthermore, he debunks justice altogether, arguing that justice is the strong exploiting the weak and that the unjust lifestyle is better than the just lifestyle. The two elements that this paper will break down is Thrasymachus s idea of justice and how he thinks that being unjust is better than being just. Initially, Thrasymachus s sentiment of justice is simply what is in the interest of the stronger party (338c). This causes Socrates to question Thrasymachus on what Thrasymachus means when he says interest . Socrates wants Thrasymachus to simplify what he means by interest because everybody has different interests. For example, a bartender has the interest of making drinks to satisfy his customers, while a computer programmer has the interest of making programs to create advances in technology. As a result, Thrasymachus categorizes the interest limited to only rulers and answers Socrates s question that interest is what is right , each type of government enacts laws that are in its own interest, a democracy democratic laws, a tyranny tyrannical ones and so on; and in ... • 46. Pat Conroy s The Lords Of Discipline Essays Pat Conroy s The Lords Of Discipline Conroy displays his life through his novel, The Lords of Discipline, to give readers a visual demonstration of how life connections can transform the entity of a novel. Conroy s attendance to the Citadel, his family, and the South helped influence his innovative writing style. A lifetime in a Southern family negated any possibility that he [Will/Conroy] could resign from the school under any conditions other than unequivocal disgrace (6). Conroy s family held a strong control over his will to renounce the hardship of the Citadel. A pervasive admiration for his mother runs through the book as he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Conroy s mother treated him with love, his father abused him both physically and mentally. Through the book, Conroy mentions the torment he endured by his father s negligence and lack of support. The Lords of Discipline is not the only book where Conroy mentions the abuse by his father, like in his other novel The Great Santini, but it is the one where he incorporates the influence of his father into why he attended the Citadel. Being raised in the South, with a long standing and proud heritage, makes it difficult for Conroy to bow down and accept the control of the Citadel. His rejection of their norms and expectancies can be seen throughout the book as Will McLean s refusal to participate in the continual abuse of innocent plebes, and his apathetic emotions displayed about the school in front of his peers, while on the contrary he feels a deep and passionate love for it. I did not participate in the rituals of the plebe system. Cruelty was easier to forgive than forget (109). Conroy s deep connection to the South allowed him to see first hand the different treatments given to those of the upper classes and the African Americans. By making the main character, Will McLean, non racist, Conroy innovates an idea that had been repressed at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Pros And Cons Of Plastic Bags Since 1985, America has been using plastic bags due to them being waterproof and having handles making them easier to carry goods. Paper and plastic has always been a huge controversy in super markets through the preference of customers. Some customers prefer having the paper bags standing up straight in the trunks of their cars. Other customers prefer the plastic bags because of the handles making it easier to walk home and carry their goods. Although both preferences are fine, all customers know the dangers of the plastic bag. Banning plastic bags from stores and replacing them with only paper or reusable bags, will reduce corruption of organic products, reduce CO2 emissions from creation and destruction of the plastic and prevent harm upon Earth and its creatures. Plastic bags were first designed in 1965 by a Swedish company which later became known as the T shirt plastic bag ; made from high density polyethylene, but It was in the late 1970s when Plastic bags first began to terrorize the well being of humanity. More and more supermarkets in America began handing out plastic bags as if they were candy on Halloween. The more plastic bags humans use, the more natural resources are being destroyed. There are two different types of plastic bags that one may find in any supermarket, high density polyethylene (HDPE) or low density polyethylene (LDPE). There isn t much difference between them besides the fact that LDPE would be the tougher and more durable bags you might find in department stores as well as any regular supermarket. They both require the same materials for creation such as oil, gas and coal (fossil fuels). Fossil fuels are the prehistoric resources formed by plants and animals that lived hundreds of millions of years ago. These fuels won t be replaced for another millions of years to come, that is why they re called non renewable resources. Plastic is very valuable, but humans decide that is more than okay to litter these valuable resources than to recycle it and prevent some of the corruption and over usage of resources we may not have in a distant future. Although plastic bags, as well as paper bags, can be recycled in order to postpone running out of resources, the creation and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. High School Jacket Research Paper I threw my books on the bed and approached the jacket slowly, as if it were a celebrity I was about to meet. My hands drugged acrossed the soft cold leather, the color of dark forest green and black. From the kitchen my mom yelled that my jacket was in the closet. I slowly opened the closet hoping my jacket was the one on my bed. Sure enough it was, right then I slipped into my jacket. It was a little big on me so I would have it for at least three years. Looking at the jacket I could see my future, all the girls around me, hanging out with the cool kids. It is like my jacket was one million dollars. I slipped my jacket back on and looked in the mirror and realized that I would look good if I combed my hair. My sleeves ran past my hands so I rolled the cuffs up, and ran down stairs and hugged my mom like there was no life left in her Thank you! I screamed. I sprinted outside with my new style of hair and jacket. As I was outside I tried to avoid my hungry dog, so I could show everyone how cool I was in my new slick jacket. As I sat on the fence daydreaming about my jacket, two cool kids walked over to me and invited me to hang out with there group of friends at school. At that moment, I knew my jacket held a great future for me. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just then my dog jumps in front of me and tries to take a bite out of my jacket. (AASL, 2006) The other set of standards that guide the scope for the information literacy program here in Utah are the Utah State Core Standards for the Library Media (grades 6 12). While there are is some overlap between these two sets of standards they work together comprehensively to cover all areas of information literacy. These standards are divided up into 3 clusters. The Utah State Standards were designed to be taught through integration with other subject and content areas. The three clusters include: Literacy: Reading Engagement Literacy: Research and Information Literacy: Media Engagement Cluster one, reading engagement, focuses largely on promoting reading and creating lifelong readers who read for enjoyment as well as out of need. It also includes using strategies to be able to comprehend both recreational reading as well as informational texts. This cluster does a good job of filling some of holes that appear in the AASL standards. The information and research strand hones in on defining an information problem and identifying the information need. Some of the indicators in this standard show that a learner can narrow or broaden an information search as well as seek clarification from teachers and other resources. The third cluster, research and information includes being able to identify, evaluate, and select sources. The indicators in this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
