The Conflict Between Jewish And Arab State
Although Palestine declared independence as an Arab state, it still face obstacles in achieving its
sovereignty. Former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat planned to officially announce the statehood
of Palestine in 1996 (Quigley). This action received a strong response from Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu said recognition of Palestinian statehood would nullify the Israeli
Palestinian agreement. From this notion, Netanyahu threatened to invade Palestinian territories like
the West Bank of Jordan River. The settlements have been a prominent feature in hindering peaceful
treaties. Israelclaims that it should have territorial rights to its settlements while Palestines cannot
negotiate on land that Israel continues to occupy. The tensions between the Jewish and Arab state
continued to grow as Israel expanded Jewish settlements in the West Bank. According to the United
Nations, these settlements are illegal under international law. This violates the Fourth Geneva
Convention which prohibits states to occupy land in a war zone (League). Both sides of the
government have been unable to communicate effectively to determine an agreement to resolve the
territorial dispute. This conflict has expanded over three decades, resulting in hundreds of
thousands of deaths and the suffering of many innocent Jewish and Arab civilians. The support of
Palestine statehood provides a solution that could bring long term peace to the area. Recognition of
Palestinian statehood by

Japan s Power In The United States
Currently in the world there are 196 countries, each one with unique qualities and political
structures. Japan is an island nation in East Asia that is located in the Pacific Ocean. It has a total
of 6, 852 islands that make up about ninety seven percent of Japan s land area. It is the world s
tenth largest population with 126 million people. The emperor ran the country until it was forced to
surrender and the United Statesassisted in the reform of the country. Currently, Japan is a democracy
with a constitution that used the structure of the United States as a model. It uses the three branch
system, however, one of its branches drastically outweighs the other two in regards to power. This
developed nation has many aspects of it government... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A new constitution took affect in 1947; establishing a parliamentary system, with all adults
eligible to vote and the emperor became mostly a symbolic head of state (Infoplease). United
States troops were stationed in Japan because of a security treaty that was signed between the
two countries in 1951 (Infoplease). However, in 1952, Japan regained full sovereignty and the
Ryuku Islands, including Okinawa, were returned by the United States (Infoplease). During this
time, the Liberal Democratic Party was formed (BBC). This party will govern the country,
almost uninterruptedly, for the rest of the century and beyond (BBC). Also during this time,
United States servicemen raped an Okinawa schoolgirl causing mass protest demanding the
removal of United States forces from the island (BBC). Japan had an extraordinary postwar
economic recovery and continued to grow through the 1970s and 1980s until it was the world s
second largest economy (after the United States) (Infoplease). Because of scandals involving
leaders of industry, government officials and bankers, Japan suffered in the Asian economic
crisis in 1998, (Infoplease). In 2009, the Democratic Party of Japan won the general election and
ended the unbroken rule of the Liberal Democratic Party (BBC). Also, in 2009, it faced the worst
economic crisis since World War II because its economy shrank by 3.3% (BBC). However, it started
to grow in 2010 but China overtook Japan as the world s second largest economy

Assignment 1.1 Personal Power Profile
The assessment that I chose for this assignment was from the box 5.1 Personal Power Profile.
This assessment is composed of a list of statements that describe possible behaviors of leaders in
work organizations. The end results are based on the response for each item. For example,
strongly disagree is equal to 1 point, disagree is equal to 2 points, neither agree nor disagree is
equal to 3 points, agree is equal to 4 points and strongly agree is equal to 5 points. Consequently, I
end up with more points on referent power4.5, followed by legitimate power 4.0, and expert power
4.0.
Referent power is role model power. This type of power depends on feelings of affection, esteem,
and respect for another individual. The benefits of this type ... Show more content on

The amount of legitimate power someone has depends on the importance of the position she or he
occupies and the willingness to grant authority to the person in that position. The benefits of this
type of power are that incorporates weight of the entire organization, effective for gaining
obedience, helps large organizations function effectively. The costs are that lowers follower task
performance, lowers follower task satisfaction, and may become less effective overtime.
Expert power is based on the person, not on the position. This type of power influences people
because leaders supply needed information and skills.
What have you learned from completing this exercise? What I learned about this exercise is that I
confirmed my leadership style. I like to practice what I preach, as I do not expect others to do
what I do not do. I treat others with respect and courtesy, all the time, no matter what! I think that
honesty is the best policy, so I like to keep my team inform, and I do not pretend to have all of the
answers, I do apologize if I make a mistake. Gaining followers trust is most important to me, so I
always make sure that I communicate with them with valid/proven facts. However, I think that the
legitimate power comes into play when it s about bossing around people about their duties and

Traits That Make Up The Best NBA Player
Traits that Make up the Best Current NBA players The game is set, it s the 2017 NBA all star
game. Everyone s eyes are wide as they watch, swishes from three pointers, and the rim rattling
from dunks can be heard. The spotlight is on when these East and West all stars are on the court:
most of these players MVPs, league leaders, and NBA champions. They are the league s best,
and the best in the world as they astonish the crowds when they show off their talent. But it takes
a lot of great traits for these players to be considered the best in the league and make it to the 2017
All Star Game. While there are many players in the current NBA, Similar qualities separate the
greats from every other player in the league. Since certain traits make... Show more content on

The best defensive player in the league, and NBA champion, and western conference all star starter
Kawhi Leonard demonstrates this ability. The San Antonio Spursforward Kawhi Leonard won
defensive MVP in 2015 16 and is also one of the best players in the league, averaging 25 points
per game and 2 steals per game. Another great player who also has great defensive
characteristics is Paul George of the Indiana Pacers. When not on the floor the Pacers are one of
the worst defensive teams, but when he is on the court they become 6th defensively. He is almost
single handling leading the Pacers to a playoff position this year, at the 6th seed as of right now.
The final great current NBA player whose great defensive ability makes him strive is Detroit Pistons
center Andre Drummond. Drummond is the anchor of the Pistons, and a defensive monster,
averaging 1.6 blocks per game. Andre is leading the NBA with a defensive rating of 93, and is
one of the best at defending the paint. That is how all great current NBA players share a trait of
great defense to make them the best current NBA players, examples are Kawhi Leonard, Paul
George, and Andre Drummond.
All good current NBA players should have good athleticism, good defense, or clutch ability. By
having all of these qualities, these players take over the league. They get swarmed with fans,
endorsements, publicity, and most of all money.

Socrates Paper
Socrates is believed to be one of the greatest philosophers of all time and he is credited as being the
founder of western philosophy. This paper will explain some of his views to the most fundamental
questions of today s age. These questions will include topics about morality, the human condition,
solution, and death. After Socrates views on these topics are explained, a critique will be done on
his answers. I will start out by explaining exactly who Socrates is, and the time that he lived in. To
start out, we will first examine Socrates view on morality.
There are many questions that could be asked about the topic of morality. Questions like, what are
the central moral principles, who is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It interferes and holds back the soul s search for the truth and causes all bad things in the world. It
is not necessarily the physical body itself, as much as it is the desires that it brings with it.
With the question of human condition being answered, Socrates now can answer another one of
our fundamental questions. This question is Solution. Solution proposes a way to fix what has
gone with the world and mankind. In Socrates eyes, the world s greatest problem was the
attachment to the human body. He proposes that this can be fixed by detaching oneself from the
body. Socrates partially explains this by saying It seems that so long as we are alive, we shall
keep as close as possible to knowledge if we avoid as much as we can all contact and association
with the body, except when absolutely necessary; and instead of allowing ourselves to become
infected with its nature, purify ourselves from it until God himself gives us deliverance. In this
way, by keeping ourselves uncontaminated by the follies of the body, we shall probably reach the
company of others like ourselves and gain direct knowledge of all that is pure and uncontaminated
that is, presumably, of Truth. (Phaedo 67a b). Socrates also talks about the importance of
purification of the mind as another solution, which ends up coming back to the separation of the
soul from the body. This can be seen when Socrates

William Penn And The Liberty Bell Reflection
For the pin that you see above, was made using the program Adobe Photoshop CC (creative
cloud). I came up with my inspiration for the pin from my childhood memories. I remember
clearly, when I was just a toddler; my parents would always take me to see the Liberty Bell. And I
loved the experience! So when I stumbled along the chance to create a pin that would proudly
represent Pennsylvania, I used it. I first went onto Google, and went to find an image or a symbol
just something that would represent Pennsylvania that everyone recognized. I was stuck choosing
between William Penn, or the Liberty Bell. After much thought and consideration, I chose the
Liberty Bell. Next, I went to find an image of the Liberty Bell. Alas, I found two images of

Chick Fil An American Food Restaurant Franchise Essay
Chick Fil A is an American food restaurant franchise having its head office in Georgia, USA. The
company was established in 1946 and has gradually entrenched itself in the American food
industry as a cultural icon in the Southern United States for its specialty in preparation of
chicken sandwiches. Chick Fil A prides itself for the establishment of over1690 branches located
within the United States alone as well as its economic contribution to the larger part of Western
America and California. It realized sales of around $4.6 billion in 2012, which reflected a 14
percent increase over the overall performance experienced in the previous year by the chain
while the same store sales performance increased by 8 percent. In Houston, Texas, the greatest
performer realized a 7.2 million total gross sales in 2012. Chick Fil A uses a significantly
distinct model, notable in the retention of the ownership of each restaurant since its acquisition.
Chick Fil A selects the most suitable restaurant location, undertakes its construction, then takes
over its ownership. Chick Fil A requires a payment of only a $5,000 as capital to become an
owner of their branch while its rival franchises pay almost $2 million. The company receives over
15, 000 submissions annually from interested franchise operators for the available 70 slots. Chick
Fil A receives a bigger allocation of income in comparison to other chains amounting to $190,000
per year. Chick Fil A s solid mission statement and its

Jackson Vs. Andrew Jackson And The Revolutionary War
President s either change the United States for the better of for the worse. Andrew Jackson did
both. At age twelve, Andrew Jackson fought in the Revolutionary War. Jackson was a war hero for
the War of 1812, fought in the Battle of New Orleans, lost the election to John Q. Adams in 1824
because it was a corrupt election. Andrew Jacksonwas a national war hero and shaped the country in
many ways.
After Andrew Jackson became President, he threw a party in the White House for anyone to
attend. Some people camped out on the streets, so they could get into the party. People were found
drunk with alcohol in bathtubs. In total, 10,000 20,000 people attended. Andrew Jackson created
the Spoil System which limited federal jobs to four years. Jackson fired his enemies and hired his
friends and journalists. Jackson also had a backup Cabinet called the Kitchen Cabinet. The Kitchen
Cabinet included Jackson s friends and journalists. They drank whiskey and discussed current
issues. Jackson used the Kitchen Cabinet more than his official Cabinet. Andrew Jackson had an
enormous temper. He dueled, gambled, and fought Indians. Jackson fired 919 people from the
government that did not agree with his beliefs.
Andrew Jackson used his powers as President for granted. He abused his veto power and would
veto any bill that he did not like or that Henry Clay proposed. Jackson vetoed twelve bills in only

Gender Roles in Television Essay
Introduction
It is often said that the media and the arts are an accurate reflection of any given community. This
is especially true in American pop culture, where television shows depict the various stereotypes
attributed to men and women and the roles they play in society. House, a highly popular medical
drama that revolves around Dr. Gregory House and his diagnostic team, is a particularly good
example as it represents the true state of the traditional gender roles in American culture today by,
both, redefining and reinforcing them over the course of the show.
In Big Baby, the thirteenth episode of the current season, the show highlights these gender roles by
centering on the effects the recent adoption of Rachel has had on Dr. ... Show more content on

In Gender Role Behaviors and Attitudes, Aaron Devor sheds light on this stereotype:
Feminine characteristics are thought to be intrinsic to the female facility for childbirth and breast
feeding. Hence, it is popularly believed that the social position of females is biologically mandated
to be intertwined with the care of children and a natural dependency on men for the maintenance of
mother child units.
Dr. Cuddy s confusion and fears over raising her adopted daughter indicates a significant shift from
this centuries old stereotype ascribed to women a radical redefinition of traditional gender roles.
Mr. Sensitive
However, this redefinition is not limited to women alone. Dr. Wilson is perhaps the most
diplomatic, sensible, and level headed character in the entire show as he constantly strives to
broker a truce between the clashing personalities of Dr. Cuddy and Dr. House.
In this episode, he reveals his emotional and sensitive side as he attempts to console a tearful Dr.
Cuddy who was struggling with maternity. He returns to her house later on in the episode and
attempts to cheer her up by bringing Dr. Cuddy an age enhanced photograph of a teenage Rachel.
He tries to get her to understand that the motherly love develops over time. He then admits that the
photograph came with the frame and was not Rachel.

Mursi Woman
1) The Mursi woman talks about what she thinks is beautiful, which among other things involves
removing her eyelashes and undergoing other facial modifications. Many Europeans and North
Americans would not necessarily find these things beautiful. How do you explain those differences
in perspective?
The difference in perspective can be explained by how the people grew up. Growing up in
America, young girls have seen their moms and other women in their life wearing makeup such
as eyeshadow and mascara to bring out their eyes. Consequently, the girls believe that they will
be beautiful if they wear eyeshadow and mascara also. Likewise, few people in America wear
facial piercings and ornaments like the ones seen in the video. Consequently, people in America do
not wear them as it is not seen as normal to do so. Simply, the differences ... Show more content on

Do you think the Mursi show the Europeans their authentic culture?
Since the people in this village dress just for show when the tourists come, they likely enjoy having
the tourists around. The woman is clear when she says she doesn t care if what she wears is not
customary, they simply want to please the tourists so that they will take photos. They are likely as
fascinated with the tourists as the tourists are with them.
The Mursi woman and her village are not completely showing the tourists their authentic culture as
the woman makes it evident that they dress in an almost completely different way when the tourists
come. However, they in part are still showing the visitors their culture as they cannot change things
such as how their homes are built and what they do for work simply because people are coming to
visit. Part of their culture must shine through no matter how hard they

The biggest challenge faced by a foreign company is that the local manufacturers will copy their
product in a matter of weeks and mass produce and distribute it throughout the country at a very
cost effective rate. Another problem can be the strict rule of Chinese food and drug authority s
strict rule regarding the registration of devices. Recommendation: The best market for
GENICON to enter is the Brazil market as the competition is relatively low on both the locally
produced products and imports. The best course of action would be to enter into a joint venture
with a local Brazilian firm (as there can some sort of traditional/cultural misunderstanding). This
will allow GENICON to overcome the cultural aspects of doing business in Brazil such as
leveraging in local distribution network and avoiding the crime factor. Through joint venture the
GENICON will be able to save the tax which the Brazilian government might have imposed. Brazil

compound annual growth rate of 13.8 % is anticipated trough 2013 , which shows that there is a
large untapped potential in Brazilian market.

Use Of Quantitative Trade Models On Aggregate Bilateral...
This paper builds on the previous literature which uses quantitative trade models to determine the
effects of trade barriers on aggregate bilateral trade flows, income, and welfare, including Eaton
and Kortum (2002); Anderson and van Wincoop (2003); Alvarez and Lucas (2007); and Helpman
et al. (2008) and more recent papers that address discrepancies between more traditional quantitative
trademodels and the data. 3 The main contribution of my paper to this literature is that it
demonstrates how the workhorse class of quantitative trade models can be generalized to account
for the aggregate effects of non trivial patterns of product level comparative advantage. It does so in
a way that maintains, to a large extent, the tractability and parsimony of this class of models while
utilizing the wealth of information contained in product level trade data, which is available for
most of the world s countries. It also provides succinct and intuitive expressions relating the gains
from trade to countries patterns of product level comparative advantage, allowing for a
straightforward decomposition of the gains from trade into across product and within product
components.
This paper is also related to Arkolakis et al. (2012) in that both papers address important features
shared among the literature s workhorse class of quantitative trade models, but we make very
distinct points. Arkolakis et al. (2012) demonstrate that, in this class of models, the welfare gains
from trade depend only

Different personality traits make us who we are today. There are many factors to our
personalities and each aspect illustrates a bigger picture of who we are and how we came to be.
Openness to experience is a factor of the Five Factor Model (FFM) that describes my personality

attentiveness to inner feelings, intellectual curiosity, interest in variety, and interest in aesthetics. It
is used to display a general appreciation for creative ideas, imaginations, and the arts. Due to a

Although, they were traditionally Korean in the sense that they craved discipline and enforced
good morals on me, they were also understanding of the imaginative world. Also, my parents are

openness, it is apparent that is in them that they are open to experience. Ever since I was five, I
have played the cello. This driving force behind the pursuit of music stems from my parents broad
outlook on the arts and their thoughts on how important it is to learn about the arts. These
evidences display that openness to experience carries a genetic component. Not only in my
immediate family is it apparent that there is a genetic component to openness to experience, but in
my extended family it is evident as well. Another prime example of the nature quality of
openness is illustrated through my twin cousins. I have twin cousins, who were raised in

Clean The Bore Research Paper
There are two reasons to clean the bore of any п¬Ѓrearm. It improves accuracy and putting away a
gun with a dirty bore is courting the formation of rust which will cause pitting, thus ruining a
valuable barrel. Frequent cleaning of firearms and barrels reduces fouling buildup, makes
fouling removal easier, and reduces the chance of bore damage to firearms. When cleaning a
bore of a barrel you will first need a quality one piece straight rod of the correct diameter for the
caliber. The rod needs to be just long enough to accommodate the length of barrel you are cleaning.
Second is a quality bore guide made for an Ar platform style guns these replace the bolt carrier and

With bore brushes, make sure the windings in the middle of the brush never terminate at the front,
exposing their rough ends that can dig into the bore. Ammonia free Windex is used after each
cleaning to remove two types of solvents. Petroleum based bore solvents can contribute to carbon
fouling. Copper solvents have ammonia in them and trace ammonia left in the bore can combine
with chemicals in the burning of gunpowder to form a substance corrosive to barrel steel. Avoid
mixing different brands of solvents. First, bore brushes offer the greatest resistance on the п¬Ѓrst
use. Thoroughly flush the crud out and reuse them until they wear out. Be careful because flex
from the cleaning rod equals more potential damage to the bore. You can push a patch forward

The Philippine Insurrection
The Philippine Insurrection of 1899 1902 was a little different than most insurgencies. Using Mao
s 3 phases of an insurgency, which I will break down below.
The native demand for liberation from Spain had been building since the 1880s. In 1892 a poor
warehouseman by the name of Andres Bonifacio organized a group called the Katiunan, hoping to
drive the Spaniard s out of the Philippines. As in other insurgencies, we are seeing groups coming
together for the same objective, but not all insurgent groups get along. In 1896 after a reign of
terror against the islanders, Emilio Aguinaldo, a rival group leader, took over leadership by having
Bonifacio executed. The insurgency was forced into the hills, but the fighting continued. The
people wanted Spain out and supported an independent Philippines. In 1897 Spain paid Aguinaldo
off to stop the fighting and sent him to Hong Kong. This put the insurgency back into survival
mode and brought a temporary peace.
Aguinaldo made a pact with the United States which was at war with Spain at the time. With the
assistance of Commodore Dewey they were able to have a decisive victory over the Spanish in
Manila. June 12th then became Philippine Independence Day in 1898. The Americans seemed
reluctant to leave and in December Spain formally ceded the Philippines to the United States in the
Paris Peace Treaty. In January 1899 Aguinaldo staged an inauguration of the First Philippine
Republic. This was an uneasy peace, because what was

Dovercourt School is a bilingual school which provides English and Chinese program. The school
philosophy is to believe that the students need to be engaged to be deeply successful in their

I began to be a volunteer to read mandarin stories to students in mandarin grades three and four in
Dovercourt School in Oct 14 and Oct 16. On the one hand, I believe that volunteering activity can
create my credibility, build self confidence, develop self awareness, and share the vision. On the

How was this activity chosen?
When I picked the volunteer project, I have been the volunteer in my son s school for several

Analysis Of The Film The Dark Knight
A literary convention is a specific pattern like a repetition of a word, phrase, character, or setting.
They are recurring patterns in particular literary genres and are present in many novels, short
stories, plays, and sonnets. There are many different literary conventions or tropes in the stories that
we have read, but I am choosing to write about the film The Dark Knightby Christopher Nolan.
There are also many within the film, but the one that stuck out most to me was Jokers famous
saying, why so serious? . When he says this his tone of voice is almost angry, or he may even
sound mentally insane. There are two stories from where The Jokersays that the saying why so
serious originates from. The most notable one is that his father was a drunk and killed his
mother. Then his father asks him why so serious , and decides he should have a smile, so he put
a knife in his mouth and cut his face from ear to ear. This phrase and the way that he says it ends
up making people of Gotham more scared then they maybe normally would be. The phrase could
also mean that order will never be contained, that somehow someway chaos will always rise. I
think that by the different stories about his scar, his actions throughout the film, and by his famous
why so serious? phrase, Joker is a psychopath who is mentally deranged, yet maybe not insane, and
somehow he is very intelligent. The phrase is something that occurs very frequently in the movie.
It has also become a very popular saying

Decision Tree Induction Clustering Techniques In SAS Enterprise Miner, SPSS Clementine, And

Abdullah M. Al Ghoson, Virginia Commonwealth University, USA
ABSTRACT Decision tree induction and Clustering are two of the most prevalent data mining
techniques used separately or together in many business applications. Most commercial data
mining software tools provide these two techniques but few of them satisfy business needs. There
are many criteria and factors to choose the most appropriate software for a particular organization.

In this way, decision trees provide accuracy and explanatory models where the decision tree
model is able to explain the reason of certain decisions using these decision rules. Decision trees
could be used in classification applications that target discrete value outcomes by classifying
unclassified data based on a pre classified dataset, for example, classifying credit card applicants
into three classes of risk, which are low, medium or high. Also, decision trees could be used in
estimation applications that have continuous outcomes by estimating value based on pre classified
datasets, and in this case the tree is called a regression tree, for example, estimating household
income. Moreover, decision trees could be used in prediction applications that have discrete or
continuous outcomes by predicting future value same as classification or estimation, for example,
predicting credit card loan as good or bad. 2.1 Decision Tree Models
Decision tree models are explanatory models, which are English rules so they are easy to
evaluate and understand by people. The decision tree model is considered as a chain of rules
that classify records in different bins or classes called nodes [1]. Based on the model s algorithm,
every node may have two or more children or have no child, which is called in this case leaf node
[1]. Building decision tree models requires partitioning the pre classified dataset into three parts,

And you have to statistics that the effective tax rate would be 24%. The risks of this investment
look beyond the appropriate rate for the investment to make, but Nodal acquires assets in a foreign
country has to adapt to the economic conditions of purchase and especially develop business in that
country without modifying the initial investment and it is much the impact of currency fluctuations
where these actions is no longer good for business, cannot take their assets and retire, but has to
evaluate all assets and sell the real estate. But before that happens and for proper economic
performance of real income derivatives, must be exchanged for dollars in each period, to distribute
investment and benefits, in order to reduce risks.
ALTERNATIVES
Take the currency risk, and buy real, hoping it will appreciate in future. This seemed to be a
favorable option because the real had consistently appreciated against the dollar over the past three
years, and macro volatility is low and economic policy is sound although the fiscal and external
solvencies are now a non issue and the balance of payments is being backed up by strong inflows
of dollar.

projections against the spot rate though. In this case had an option to have Forward contracts,

Part of the Earned Value Managementtechnique is the monitoring of variances from the approved
baseline of costs and schedule. The variances are useful in determining the overall project health
and status.
Schedule Variance (SV): The Schedule Variance indicates a value which is a measure of how
much the project is either ahead or behind at a given point in time. For any given point in time,
once the EV and PV are known the SV can easily be calculated. The formula for SV is quite
simply: SV = EV PV. Here a positive value indicates that the project is ahead at the current point in
time and a negative value would indicate the opposite that a project is behind at the current point in
time.
Cost Variance (CV): The Cost Variance indicates a value which is a measure of how much the
project is either overspent or underspent at any given point in time. For any given point in time,
once the EV and AC are known the CV can easily be calculated. The formula for CV is quite
simply: CV = EV AC. Here a positive value indicates that the project is under spent at the current
point in time and a negative value would indicate the opposite that a project is over spent at the
current point in time. The Cost Variance at the end of the project is calculated as follows: CV =
BAC AC. The same above rationale is applied to positive and negative numbers to indicate if the
project is under spent or over spent respectively.
To measure schedule or cost efficiency there are two

Migrant Workers In Canada
For over 50 years, farmers in Ontario and other provinces in Canada have met their seasonal
labour needs through the use of the Canadian Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program (CSAWP)
by hiring temporary workers from Mexico and other locations in the Caribbean. This program
allows entry of low to middle skilled farm workers for a provisional time of up to eight months of
the year into Canada each year. With current studies showing more than 1,600 migrant workers are
in Ontario primarily working for Horticulture employers. It brings to light that the participation of
the foreign migrant workers is essential in the agriculturesector alone. As fewer citizens of Canada
consider doing agricultural work due to the low wages and poor working conditions... Show more

economic policies enforced by the Canadian Government to reveal the previously misunderstood

War And Peace, By Nancy Scheper Hughes And Philippe
In an age of multiple overlapping crises involving public institutions, war, capital and law, we
witness a normalization of violence in everyday life. Violence, as defined by the World Health
Organization is the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself,
another person, or against a group or community that may result in various harms ranging from
psychological harm and deprivation to injury and death. From an anthropological perspective, all
dimensions of violenceare shaped by cultural and social structures, ideas and ideologies.
In their publication titled Violence in War and Peace, Nancy Scheper Hughes and Philippe
Bourgois suggest that expressions and repressions of violence are sometimes so deeply
embedded in broader socio cultural structures that they go unrecognized. According to Scheper
Hughes and Bourgois, these misrecognized and often invisible forms of violence racism,
inequality and exclusion are often not disapproved of nor seen as deviant behavior but, are
generally applauded conventional social, economic and political norms (5). From these larger
social, cultural, and political systems, violence derives its power and meaning. Examining
instances of violence in these ways, within their wider contexts of power and meaning, is critical
for a variety of reasons. First, it provides a foundation for understanding other forms of violence,
such as interpersonal or gender based violence; second, it reveals that

The Radioactive Iodine Uptake Of The Thyroid Gland
The radioactive iodine uptake is the measure of the amount of iodine avidity of the thyroid gland
(Cooper, 2003).Physician use RAI to find the functional condition of the thyroid nodules
(Panneerselvan et al., 2013).RAIU is measured at different time intervals mostly 24 hour after the
administration of the isotope, the RAIU is inversely proportional to the concentration of iodine in
the plasma and directly proportional to the thyroidfunctional state (Little, 2006).
Radioactive iodine scans are also useful in patient who show a sign of thyrotoxicosis, it helps in

day I went to the store I remember walking up to the fish tank and picking out which fish I
wanted. I decided to pick the smallest one because I wanted to see how much he could grow. I
told my dad, I want the smallest one! The pet store owner caught the smallest one and put him
into a plastic bag. Me and my brother Dillon were very excited because it was our very fish. We
took him home and put him in the new fish tank that we bought. Dillon and I were in such awe
of the fish that we sat for hours just staring at the fish swim around. My dad told us, Although that
fish may be small now it will grow to be big someday! From that day forward we watched Bubbles
as he grew and grew becoming bigger each day we fed him. A few weeks after we got Bubbles me

Societal Breakdown On The Island
Societal breakdown on the island in Lord of the Flies is due to the inherent evil of man
3.8: Develop an informed understanding of literature and/or language using critical texts.
Hypothesis: Societal breakdown on the island is due to the inherent evil of man
Jason Carvalho
Lord of the Flies is the name of William Golding s historically famous novel, yet it is more than
just a title. It is a kind of statement, a way of mocking the very existences of humanity. Reading
this book I came to a very profound and troubling conclusion that I struggle to accept: Societal
breakdown on the island is due to the inherent evil of man. I believe that the lack of societal
influence is the cause of the breakdown on the island, and not the inherent evil of man. Studying
this further I found the novel rather pessimistic and opinionated, to which I undertook additional
research. My analysis of a range of critical evaluations, turned up a profound number of
contrasting views and opinion, of some which partly aligned with my hypothesis and others with
my viewpoint. However what is clear is that with time the critics views changed, with more
aligned, with my view point, that man is not inherently evil. During this analysis I will make
reference to the author William Golding in addition the work of critics, Bernard F. Dick (1987),
John F. Fitzgerald John R. Kayser (1992) and Kathleen Woodward (1997), to deliver a
compressive, in depth analysis into the cause of societal breakdown on

The Joint Commission Visit
The roots of The Joint Commission began in the American College of Surgeons (ACS), founded in
1913, which eventually lead to voluntary onsite inspections of hospitals in 1918. In 1951, The
American College of Physicians, the American Hospital Association, the American Medical
Association, and the Canadian Medical Association joined forces with the ACS to create the Joint
Commissionon Accreditationof Hospitals (JCAH). JCAH was formed as an independent, not for

established minimum quality standards. It was not until 1970 that the standards of quality were
reformed to represent the highest achievable levels, instead of minimum necessary levels. In 1987,
the company was renamed the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations

Immigration Arguments For Immigration
Immigration: An Argument for Loose Borders
Immigration is not only beneficial to the United States, but is a vital component of what the country
is made up of. The United States of America was founded on immigration several hundred years ago
when individuals and their families left their home countries for various different reasons.
Immigration is defined as the movement of people from one country into another, for residential
rather than visiting purposes, which may be for a number of reasons, (QUOTE). Some of the
reasons that people do immigrate to the United States are for economic, familial, personal, and
social reasons. Many individuals come to this country to find a job, support their children or
families, or provide better education for their children, among many other things. Regardless of the
reason, Christians are called to have mercy and be compassionate toward immigrants as outlined in
several different Biblical scriptures. Christians have a moral duty to look after the needs of their
neighbors, and by allowing for more open borders, this can be accomplished. It is important to
examine immigration from several different perspectives, especially from the Wesleyan
Quadrilateral. The Wesleyan Quadrilateral is an important component to apply to any controversial
topic because it causes one to see their worldview from four different perspectives: scripture,
tradition, reason, and experience. These elements bring a fulfilling understanding of Christianity and

Genome Manipulation Essay
Targeted genome editing technology is an area of great attention for biomedical research fields,
as it has potential in clinical applications to cure or improve some genetic diseases. In particular,
the case of genome manipulation has been revolutionized by the development of the CRISPR/Cas
9 system. Despite recent advances in editing targeted genes inside of cultured cells, in vivo
targeted transgene integrations are still out of reach, because of current tools. Principally, this
applies to nondividing cells, which are made up of adult tissues, including the brain, eyes, ears, and
pancreas, and halts the development of treatments for a broad range of genetic disorders. Now,
scientists have discovered a new approach that not only works in... Show more content on

They improved the NHEJ machinery to collaborate with the CRISPR system, allowing DNA to be
inserted at precise locations in the genome, and then inserted an inert virus to deliver HITI s
package of genetic instructions to neurons derived from human embryonic stem cells (...). The
innovation allows the cells to glue the ends of cut targeted DNA back together, with the extra
addition of the DNA template in between the cut targeted DNA, via NHEJ. In the case of the cellre
joining without the added insertion or mutation, the CRISPR system would reform and repeat the
process. Likewise, donor DNA was designed to recreate the cut site, for the situation of the insertion

(CDB, 2017, Scheme of HITI method)
Before HITI, recent techniques in the area of gene editing were focused on using a natural DNA
repair pathway, called homology directed repair (HDR). These systems are targeted at dividing
cells, such as the skin, but has been proven to be ineffective in nondividing cells, and therefore
inefficient to provide solutions to genetic disorders in adult tissue. However, the non homologous

Zombie banks
What are zombie banks
The term zombie bank was first introduced by Edward Kane in 1987 to describe a bank that has a
negative net worth but still continues to operate. A negative net worth means that the fair value
of assets is lower than the total value of liabilities. Zombie banks usually have large amounts of
non performing assets on their balance sheets making them unprofitable. A loan is considered to
be a non performing asset if no principal payments or interest have been paid for 90 days and is
therefore seen to be in jeopardy of default. The fair value of an asset that is considered non
performing is considerably reduced. Zombie banks usually continue to operate until their financial
situation is resolved or they are run ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, Japan went into a prolonged period of deflation that lasted for most of the 1990 s. In
order to boost demand, the Japanese government took a Keynesian approach and went through
10 fiscal stimulus packages in 1990 s totaling over 100 trillion yen (10). However, this didn t
have the desired effect on demand because of deflation. Consumers were putting off purchase
decisions because prices were falling. The real GDP stagnated and average growth between 1990
and 2001 was only 0.37% (12).
The European debt crisis began in 2009 when rating agency s downgraded Greek government and
bank debt because Greece s government debt reached 113% of GDP. Furthermore, in 2010
Greece s budget deficit for 2009 was revised from 3.7% to 12.7% (13). Since then Greece has
received multiple bail outs and the crisis has spread throughout the Eurozone and many countries
like Portugal, Spain, Ireland and Italy have been severely affected. The Eurozone crisis is a

Greek Gods Gods have existed almost since the beginning of mankind, as people had things that

unique gods, because they had many gods for many different things such as love, war, etc. The
gods were almost like human beings as they interacted in the lives of the people they watched

In the Iliad the gods would take different sides in war and they would interfere in the destinies of
the heroes. They would seduce both man and woman, because they were all jealous of one
another and that was a great part of the Greek way of life. The Greeks thought it was all right to
love either sex, because they thought it was normal to share what they felt. One of the most
famous tales is that of Hercules, as he is the son of Zeus and a mortal woman that Zeus seduced so
he could have a son to be a hero. Hercules is the god of strength and courage, but he did not
become a god right away, because the other gods would not except him, because he was made a
god by the seducing of a woman. Zeus would change his form and shape, he would become a
winged horse, or any animal, and he would appear as a young man with unbelievable looks.
Aphrodite the god of love and a symbol of beauty would help people fall in love and help Zeus find
young woman and man so he could have sex with either one. Hera was known to be jealous of all
Zeus s fooling around so she would try to get him back, but Zeus did not care. The gods were
great in stature and great in powers so they did not live in a heaven like the god we know of

Language Development Chapter Summary
Language development was the focus of chapter nine. In order to effectively communicate, children
must master four concepts of language. The first is phonology, which refers to the way words
sound. Second concept is semantic, which is the meaning of words and phrases. The third
component is syntax, which are the rules that exist to put words and sentences together. Lastly is
the pragmatics of languageor strategies to successfully exchange words that is socially acceptable.
Several theorists have attempted to explain how human acquire language. One idea is that children
model and are reinforced by adults. Children have been observed to imitate specific sounds that
caregivers make. Moreover, as behaviorist B.F. Skinner proposed, children... Show more content on

Semantic development begins with children categorizing objects into meanings. As they continue
to grow, children s vocabulary also expands as they are introduced to different objects. Children
learn to divide the stream of speech into smaller word pieces and they use resourceful strategies to
learn the meaning of words. They can even infer a word s meaning after one time exposure also
known as fast mapping. Typically, comprehension or receptive language precedes production or
expressive language. Children tend to focus on lexical words first before acquiring skills in
grammatical words. As children continue growing, they improve their understanding of lexical
words. Despite this improvement, they continue having difficulties with grammatical words
throughout elementary and middle school. Syntactic development begins with children s awareness
of patterns in speech. It appears in children s earlier word phrases such as in telegraphic speech,
which refers to short sentences consisting of lexical words. Its been noted that children rely heavily
on word order when interpreting sentences and discover the likelihood with which word
combination is likely to exist.. Children may exhibit overregulation when learning the endings of
words. With regards to development of listening skills, infants learn to focus on sounds that are
similar to their native language and younger

Essay On Alexander Mcqueen
Lee Alexander McQueen, CBE (17 March 1969 11 February 2010) was a British fashion designer
and couturier. He is known for having worked as chief designer at Givenchy from 1996 to 2001
and for founding his own Alexander McQueen label. His achievements in fashion earned him
four British Designer of the Year awards (1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003), as well as the CFDA s
International Designer of the Year award in 2003. McQueen committed suicide in 2010 at the age
of forty. [1]
McQueen was known for his lavish, unconventional runway shows. McQueen has been credited
with bringing drama and extravagance to the catwalk. He used new technology and innovation to
add a different twist to his shows and often shocked and surprised audiences. The silhouettes that
he created have been credited for adding a sense of fantasy and rebellion to fashion.
AVAT GARDE The brand ideology was never conventional and the designer almost always
experimented with new things to create out of fashion. Alexander McQueen was the man who made
the builder s bum fashionable. His bumsters , which appeared in 1996, spawned the trend in
perilously low rise, crevice revealing jeans. It was a look that spread and spread, although few
dared go as low as McQueen s signature buttock baring style. Hipster jeans became ubiquitous

Many of his pieces can be matched and described as poems. For instance the dress from
Sarabande spring/summer 2007 had silk flowers and real flowers sewn together in it the real
flowers lost their charm and fell all the way while the model wearing then sashayed across the
ramp. The concept all beautiful things die is nothing short than poetic. The direct resemblance goes
to the Malayalam Poet Kumaranasan s much celebrated work Veenapoov . Which talks about the
same concept through a fallen flower and how it losses it s charm slowly. The poetic element in the
design is

10 Things I Hate About You Belonging
Belonging and acceptance can be found in the relationships between people. This is clearly
evident in the relationships in the taming of the shrew and 10 things I hate about you. It is shown
through these relationships that we can see characters accepted and therefore feel a sense of
belonging. Acceptance and belonging can be shown in the taming of the shrew by the
relationship between siblings; that being Bianca and Katerina. Shakespeare uses juxtaposition
which can be seen in act 1 scene 1 when Hortensio describes the sisters and again when Katerina
is slapping Bianca and ties her to a chair. The use of juxtaposition, helps the audience to feel
sympathy towards a character and deepen our understanding of the character s personality. The
alienation of Katerina is highlighted through the crass treatment she receives from the
unimpressive series of suitors in Padua, the way that her father clearly prefers her younger sister
and his overall view of marriage as a way of gaining wealth. Therefore enforcing only through
acceptance can we belong.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film director uses soundtrack to show the contrast between Bianca and Kat. It is evident
from the opening scene of the movie, a low angle shot of Kat s beaten up car and loud punk rock,
playing from it, that Kat doesn t fit in, and appears to not care. Unlike in Bianca s scene
stereotypical pop music usually plays. This again differentiates the behaviour between Kat and
Bianca. It also gives further insight into their differing personalities. The use of music helps to
associate Kat with a subcultural group and enforcing her

Math Homework
Each one of us has specific talents, that when cultivated correctly, have the potential to advance
society as a whole. This is self evident. Why then, even though education is compulsory and
supposedly equal in America s public school system, is there a conspicuous education gap between
certain communities; especially in the STEM fields? My hypothesis is that the basis of this issue
lies in the teaching method of most urban public schools, and I am ready to start my own research
to find an answer.
I have always had a passion for math. But like so many other inner city students somewhere along
the line I was discouraged from pursuing this passion. Coming from a high school in Newark, New
Jersey I was one of few student who was interested in pursuing math; my school didn t quite
understand how to handle this. As a result, I was skipped over several math courses in high ... Show

Mary s Bridge Home in Dorchester through PULSE and was faced with the realization of my
own luck. As a caretaker for children newborn 12, school work was a huge issue; especially math
homework. I knew from my own experience that gaps in knowledge can make math near
impossible to understand; where I had small gaps some of these children faced huge gaps in
knowledge without remediation. This is a product of their school system; somewhere along the line
Boston public schools are failing to teach these children simple math concepts and are potentially
robbing society of future engineers and math prodigies. In PULSE we were constantly faced with
the question of how do we put ourselves out of business., meaning do we change society for the
better and make our job as volunteers obsolete. I believe that I have the right combination of insight
into the issue and understanding of what it takes to learn, understand, and teach math to conduct
research into this issue. The Community Research Program, for me, would be the first step in
putting myself out of

Cost Benefit Analysis ( Cba )
1.Introduction
In the recent years, Cost benefit Analysis (CBA) has been connected to different ranges of
strategies and tasks. Indeed, with research of CBA was conducted into two wide areas of work.
One area which undertaken to defined the technical economic reasons for supporting CBA and then
again there are studies which completes empirical evaluations over the performance of test of CBA.
For every business and IT that has developed projects, they have to make good decision on whether
the projects will have costs and benefits and to determine it is important to supplement such as cost
effectiveness analysis with CBA tool to help with strategy deciding. Pearce et al (2006), CBA is a

According to Bhatt et al, (2010 in Dehning 2002, Davis Stratopoulos, 2003) mentions that analysts
in the IT field contend that a model may not be specifically pertinent to IT expenses which can be

figure it out ROI or comparable models for IT expenses.
2.Cost Benefit Analysis
Cost benefit analysis has been around for many years while serving a great purpose to any
business or IT due its wide range of innovative strategies. According to Levin and McEwan
(2001, p.14) Cost benefit analysis is a tool that evaluates to the assessment of choices as
indicated by their costs and benefits when each is measured in economic terms. However Prest
and Turvey defined cost benefit analysis as a practical way of assessing the desirability of
projects, where it is important to take a long view (in sense of looking at repercussions in the
further, as well as the nearer, future) and a wide view (in the sense of allowing for side effects of
many kinds of many persons, industries, regions, etc.) i.e it implies the enumerations and evaluation
of all the relevant costs and benefits .
The aim of CBA is to put a monetary values on the benefit anticipated from the project and

Executive Order 12898
The prevalence of environmental issues in the public awareness reached a point where
government was forced to take action in 1979. When Henry Love abandoned construction of a
canal in New York in 1920, the site was bought by Hooker Chemical and used as a toxic
chemical waste dumping site for the next 33 years (Schons 2011). Then in 1953 Hooker
Chemical sold the Love Canal to the school board, and construction of a school began. In the mid
to late 1970s, when children s shoes began melting to the ground and children got sick the
residents organized and protested. Media coverage increased and showed toxic black sludge oozing
into people s basements (Schons 2011). The lack of awareness of environmental and health
consequences of chemical dumping... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was the first environmental justice action taken on a federal level, and it ordered that all federal
agencies, programs, and activities be equal in their benefit or protection (Clinton 1994). It further
requires the mission all federal agencies include addressing environmental justice (Clinton 1994).
The order also established an Interagency Working Group on Environmental Justice (Bernier, C. J.
2013). Executive Order 12898 was intended to ensure the full implementation and to supplement the
National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 promoting environmental justice awareness in all US
environmental policy. It was also designed to supplement already existing law prohibiting
discrimination of any kind in programs receiving funding from the federal government, and extends
the same protections from discrimination established in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to one s
health and community being afforded the same protection from pollution and effects of exposure to

  • 2. The Conflict Between Jewish And Arab State Although Palestine declared independence as an Arab state, it still face obstacles in achieving its sovereignty. Former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat planned to officially announce the statehood of Palestine in 1996 (Quigley). This action received a strong response from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu said recognition of Palestinian statehood would nullify the Israeli Palestinian agreement. From this notion, Netanyahu threatened to invade Palestinian territories like the West Bank of Jordan River. The settlements have been a prominent feature in hindering peaceful treaties. Israelclaims that it should have territorial rights to its settlements while Palestines cannot negotiate on land that Israel continues to occupy. The tensions between the Jewish and Arab state continued to grow as Israel expanded Jewish settlements in the West Bank. According to the United Nations, these settlements are illegal under international law. This violates the Fourth Geneva Convention which prohibits states to occupy land in a war zone (League). Both sides of the government have been unable to communicate effectively to determine an agreement to resolve the territorial dispute. This conflict has expanded over three decades, resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths and the suffering of many innocent Jewish and Arab civilians. The support of Palestine statehood provides a solution that could bring long term peace to the area. Recognition of Palestinian statehood by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This assessment is composed of a list of statements that describe possible behaviors of leaders in work organizations. The end results are based on the response for each item. For example, strongly disagree is equal to 1 point, disagree is equal to 2 points, neither agree nor disagree is equal to 3 points, agree is equal to 4 points and strongly agree is equal to 5 points. Consequently, I end up with more points on referent power4.5, followed by legitimate power 4.0, and expert power 4.0. Referent power is role model power. The amount of legitimate power someone has depends on the importance of the position she or he occupies and the willingness to grant authority to the person in that position. The benefits of this type of power are that incorporates weight of the entire organization, effective for gaining obedience, helps large organizations function effectively. The costs are that lowers follower task performance, lowers follower task satisfaction, and may become less effective overtime. Expert power is based on the person, not on the position. This type of power influences people because leaders supply needed information and skills. What have you learned from completing this exercise? What I learned about this exercise is that I confirmed my leadership style. I like to practice what I preach, as I do not expect others to do what I do not do. I treat others with respect and courtesy, all the time, no matter what! I think that honesty is the best policy, so I like to keep my team inform, and I do not pretend to have all of the answers, I do apologize if I make a mistake. Gaining followers trust is most important to me, so I always make sure that I communicate with them with valid/proven facts. This paper will explain some of his views to the most fundamental questions of today s age. These questions will include topics about morality, the human condition, solution, and death. After Socrates views on these topics are explained, a critique will be done on his answers. I will start out by explaining exactly who Socrates is, and the time that he lived in. It is not necessarily the physical body itself, as much as it is the desires that it brings with it. With the question of human condition being answered, Socrates now can answer another one of our fundamental questions. This question is Solution. Solution proposes a way to fix what has gone with the world and mankind. In Socrates eyes, the world s greatest problem was the attachment to the human body. He proposes that this can be fixed by detaching oneself from the body. Socrates partially explains this by saying It seems that so long as we are alive, we shall keep as close as possible to knowledge if we avoid as much as we can all contact and association with the body, except when absolutely necessary; and instead of allowing ourselves to become infected with its nature, purify ourselves from it until God himself gives us deliverance. In this way, by keeping ourselves uncontaminated by the follies of the body, we shall probably reach the company of others like ourselves and gain direct knowledge of all that is pure and uncontaminated that is, presumably, of Truth. (Phaedo 67a b). Socrates also talks about the importance of purification of the mind as another solution, which ends up coming back to the separation of the soul from the body. This is especially true in American pop culture, where television shows depict the various stereotypes attributed to men and women and the roles they play in society. House, a highly popular medical drama that revolves around Dr. Gregory House and his diagnostic team, is a particularly good example as it represents the true state of the traditional gender roles in American culture today by, both, redefining and reinforcing them over the course of the show. Many Europeans and North Americans would not necessarily find these things beautiful. How do you explain those differences in perspective? The difference in perspective can be explained by how the people grew up. Growing up in America, young girls have seen their moms and other women in their life wearing makeup such as eyeshadow and mascara to bring out their eyes. Consequently, the girls believe that they will be beautiful if they wear eyeshadow and mascara also. (2008) and more recent papers that address discrepancies between more traditional quantitative trademodels and the data. 3 The main contribution of my paper to this literature is that it demonstrates how the workhorse class of quantitative trade models can be generalized to account for the aggregate effects of non trivial patterns of product level comparative advantage. It does so in a way that maintains, to a large extent, the tractability and parsimony of this class of models while utilizing the wealth of information contained in product level trade data, which is available for most of the world s countries. It also provides succinct and intuitive expressions relating the gains from trade to countries patterns of product level comparative advantage, allowing for a straightforward decomposition of the gains from trade into across product and within product components. This paper is also related to Arkolakis et al. The native demand for liberation from Spain had been building since the 1880s. In 1892 a poor warehouseman by the name of Andres Bonifacio organized a group called the Katiunan, hoping to drive the Spaniard s out of the Philippines. As in other insurgencies, we are seeing groups coming together for the same objective, but not all insurgent groups get along. In 1896 after a reign of terror against the islanders, Emilio Aguinaldo, a rival group leader, took over leadership by having Bonifacio executed. The insurgency was forced into the hills, but the fighting continued. The people wanted Spain out and supported an independent Philippines. In 1897 Spain paid Aguinaldo off to stop the fighting and sent him to Hong Kong. This put the insurgency back into survival mode and brought a temporary peace. Aguinaldo made a pact with the United States which was at war with Spain at the time. With the assistance of Commodore Dewey they were able to have a decisive victory over the Spanish in Manila. June 12th then became Philippine Independence Day in 1898. The Americans seemed reluctant to leave and in December Spain formally ceded the Philippines to the United States in the Paris Peace Treaty. There are many different literary conventions or tropes in the stories that we have read, but I am choosing to write about the film The Dark Knightby Christopher Nolan. There are also many within the film, but the one that stuck out most to me was Jokers famous saying, why so serious? . When he says this his tone of voice is almost angry, or he may even sound mentally insane. There are two stories from where The Jokersays that the saying why so serious originates from. The most notable one is that his father was a drunk and killed his mother. Then his father asks him why so serious , and decides he should have a smile, so he put a knife in his mouth and cut his face from ear to ear. This phrase and the way that he says it ends up making people of Gotham more scared then they maybe normally would be. Also, decision trees could be used in estimation applications that have continuous outcomes by estimating value based on pre classified datasets, and in this case the tree is called a regression tree, for example, estimating household income. Moreover, decision trees could be used in prediction applications that have discrete or continuous outcomes by predicting future value same as classification or estimation, for example, predicting credit card loan as good or bad. 2.1 Decision Tree Models Decision tree models are explanatory models, which are English rules so they are easy to evaluate and understand by people. The decision tree model is considered as a chain of rules that classify records in different bins or classes called nodes [1]. Based on the model s algorithm, every node may have two or more children or have no child, which is called in this case leaf node [1]. Building decision tree models requires partitioning the pre classified dataset into three parts, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For any given point in time, once the EV and PV are known the SV can easily be calculated. The formula for SV is quite simply: SV = EV PV. • 27. War And Peace, By Nancy Scheper Hughes And Philippe In an age of multiple overlapping crises involving public institutions, war, capital and law, we witness a normalization of violence in everyday life. Violence, as defined by the World Health Organization is the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another person, or against a group or community that may result in various harms ranging from psychological harm and deprivation to injury and death. From an anthropological perspective, all dimensions of violenceare shaped by cultural and social structures, ideas and ideologies. In their publication titled Violence in War and Peace, Nancy Scheper Hughes and Philippe Bourgois suggest that expressions and repressions of violence are sometimes so deeply embedded in broader socio cultural structures that they go unrecognized. According to Scheper Hughes and Bourgois, these misrecognized and often invisible forms of violence racism, inequality and exclusion are often not disapproved of nor seen as deviant behavior but, are generally applauded conventional social, economic and political norms (5). From these larger social, cultural, and political systems, violence derives its power and meaning. Examining instances of violence in these ways, within their wider contexts of power and meaning, is critical for a variety of reasons. First, it provides a foundation for understanding other forms of violence, such as interpersonal or gender based violence; second, it reveals that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Societal Breakdown On The Island Societal breakdown on the island in Lord of the Flies is due to the inherent evil of man 3.8: Develop an informed understanding of literature and/or language using critical texts. Hypothesis: Societal breakdown on the island is due to the inherent evil of man Jason Carvalho Lord of the Flies is the name of William Golding s historically famous novel, yet it is more than just a title. It is a kind of statement, a way of mocking the very existences of humanity. Reading this book I came to a very profound and troubling conclusion that I struggle to accept: Societal breakdown on the island is due to the inherent evil of man. I believe that the lack of societal influence is the cause of the breakdown on the island, and not the inherent evil of man. Studying this further I found the novel rather pessimistic and opinionated, to which I undertook additional research. My analysis of a range of critical evaluations, turned up a profound number of contrasting views and opinion, of some which partly aligned with my hypothesis and others with my viewpoint. However what is clear is that with time the critics views changed, with more aligned, with my view point, that man is not inherently evil. Immigration Arguments For Immigration Immigration: An Argument for Loose Borders Immigration is not only beneficial to the United States, but is a vital component of what the country is made up of. The United States of America was founded on immigration several hundred years ago when individuals and their families left their home countries for various different reasons. Immigration is defined as the movement of people from one country into another, for residential rather than visiting purposes, which may be for a number of reasons, (QUOTE). Some of the reasons that people do immigrate to the United States are for economic, familial, personal, and social reasons. Many individuals come to this country to find a job, support their children or families, or provide better education for their children, among many other things. Regardless of the reason, Christians are called to have mercy and be compassionate toward immigrants as outlined in several different Biblical scriptures. Christians have a moral duty to look after the needs of their neighbors, and by allowing for more open borders, this can be accomplished. It is important to examine immigration from several different perspectives, especially from the Wesleyan Quadrilateral. The first is phonology, which refers to the way words sound. Second concept is semantic, which is the meaning of words and phrases. The third component is syntax, which are the rules that exist to put words and sentences together. Lastly is the pragmatics of languageor strategies to successfully exchange words that is socially acceptable. Several theorists have attempted to explain how human acquire language. One idea is that children model and are reinforced by adults. Children have been observed to imitate specific sounds that caregivers make. Moreover, as behaviorist B.F. Skinner proposed, children... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Semantic development begins with children categorizing objects into meanings. As they continue to grow, children s vocabulary also expands as they are introduced to different objects. Children learn to divide the stream of speech into smaller word pieces and they use resourceful strategies to learn the meaning of words. They can even infer a word s meaning after one time exposure also known as fast mapping. Typically, comprehension or receptive language precedes production or expressive language. Children tend to focus on lexical words first before acquiring skills in grammatical words. As children continue growing, they improve their understanding of lexical words. Despite this improvement, they continue having difficulties with grammatical words throughout elementary and middle school. Syntactic development begins with children s awareness of patterns in speech. It appears in children s earlier word phrases such as in telegraphic speech, which refers to short sentences consisting of lexical words. • 43. Essay On Alexander Mcqueen Lee Alexander McQueen, CBE (17 March 1969 11 February 2010) was a British fashion designer and couturier. He is known for having worked as chief designer at Givenchy from 1996 to 2001 and for founding his own Alexander McQueen label. His achievements in fashion earned him four British Designer of the Year awards (1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003), as well as the CFDA s International Designer of the Year award in 2003. McQueen committed suicide in 2010 at the age of forty. [1] McQueen was known for his lavish, unconventional runway shows. McQueen has been credited with bringing drama and extravagance to the catwalk. He used new technology and innovation to add a different twist to his shows and often shocked and surprised audiences. The silhouettes that he created have been credited for adding a sense of fantasy and rebellion to fashion. AVAT GARDE The brand ideology was never conventional and the designer almost always experimented with new things to create out of fashion. Alexander McQueen was the man who made the builder s bum fashionable. His bumsters , which appeared in 1996, spawned the trend in perilously low rise, crevice revealing jeans. It was a look that spread and spread, although few dared go as low as McQueen s signature buttock baring style. Hipster jeans became ubiquitous throughout the 1990s ... For instance the dress from Sarabande spring/summer 2007 had silk flowers and real flowers sewn together in it the real flowers lost their charm and fell all the way while the model wearing then sashayed across the ramp. The concept all beautiful things die is nothing short than poetic. The direct resemblance goes to the Malayalam Poet Kumaranasan s much celebrated work Veenapoov . Which talks about the same concept through a fallen flower and how it losses it s charm slowly. The poetic element in the design is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. 10 Things I Hate About You Belonging Belonging and acceptance can be found in the relationships between people. This is clearly evident in the relationships in the taming of the shrew and 10 things I hate about you. It is shown through these relationships that we can see characters accepted and therefore feel a sense of belonging. Acceptance and belonging can be shown in the taming of the shrew by the relationship between siblings; that being Bianca and Katerina. Shakespeare uses juxtaposition which can be seen in act 1 scene 1 when Hortensio describes the sisters and again when Katerina is slapping Bianca and ties her to a chair. The use of juxtaposition, helps the audience to feel sympathy towards a character and deepen our understanding of the character s personality. The alienation of Katerina is highlighted through the crass treatment she receives from the unimpressive series of suitors in Padua, the way that her father clearly prefers her younger sister and his overall view of marriage as a way of gaining wealth. Therefore enforcing only through acceptance can we belong.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The film director uses soundtrack to show the contrast between Bianca and Kat. It is evident from the opening scene of the movie, a low angle shot of Kat s beaten up car and loud punk rock, playing from it, that Kat doesn t fit in, and appears to not care. Unlike in Bianca s scene stereotypical pop music usually plays. This again differentiates the behaviour between Kat and Bianca. It also gives further insight into their differing personalities. The use of music helps to associate Kat with a subcultural group and enforcing her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Math Homework Each one of us has specific talents, that when cultivated correctly, have the potential to advance society as a whole. This is self evident. Why then, even though education is compulsory and supposedly equal in America s public school system, is there a conspicuous education gap between certain communities; especially in the STEM fields? My hypothesis is that the basis of this issue lies in the teaching method of most urban public schools, and I am ready to start my own research to find an answer. I have always had a passion for math. But like so many other inner city students somewhere along the line I was discouraged from pursuing this passion. Coming from a high school in Newark, New Jersey I was one of few student who was interested in pursuing math; my school didn t quite understand how to handle this. As a result, I was skipped over several math courses in high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mary s Bridge Home in Dorchester through PULSE and was faced with the realization of my own luck. As a caretaker for children newborn 12, school work was a huge issue; especially math homework. I knew from my own experience that gaps in knowledge can make math near impossible to understand; where I had small gaps some of these children faced huge gaps in knowledge without remediation. This is a product of their school system; somewhere along the line Boston public schools are failing to teach these children simple math concepts and are potentially robbing society of future engineers and math prodigies. In PULSE we were constantly faced with the question of how do we put ourselves out of business., meaning do we change society for the better and make our job as volunteers obsolete. I believe that I have the right combination of insight into the issue and understanding of what it takes to learn, understand, and teach math to conduct research into this issue. The Community Research Program, for me, would be the first step in putting myself out of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Levin and McEwan (2001, p.14) Cost benefit analysis is a tool that evaluates to the assessment of choices as indicated by their costs and benefits when each is measured in economic terms. However Prest and Turvey defined cost benefit analysis as a practical way of assessing the desirability of projects, where it is important to take a long view (in sense of looking at repercussions in the further, as well as the nearer, future) and a wide view (in the sense of allowing for side effects of many kinds of many persons, industries, regions, etc.) i.e it implies the enumerations and evaluation of all the relevant costs and benefits . • 47. Executive Order 12898 The prevalence of environmental issues in the public awareness reached a point where government was forced to take action in 1979. When Henry Love abandoned construction of a canal in New York in 1920, the site was bought by Hooker Chemical and used as a toxic chemical waste dumping site for the next 33 years (Schons 2011). Then in 1953 Hooker Chemical sold the Love Canal to the school board, and construction of a school began. In the mid to late 1970s, when children s shoes began melting to the ground and children got sick the residents organized and protested. Media coverage increased and showed toxic black sludge oozing into people s basements (Schons 2011). The lack of awareness of environmental and health consequences of chemical dumping...
