Summary Of The Ballot Or The Bullet
Give ME Liberty or Give Me Death An Great Appeal to Pathos Through a Black Nationalist
Rhetoric in The Ballot or the Bullet by Malcom X. Although The Years have passed and History
is what our Nation was built on. The Unit States of America has always and consistently has had
a problem with civil rights. From The Creation of this nation when mostly all white landowners
owned slaves, to today where slavery is outlawed, civil rights still reside as an issue today. Some
might disagree that racism still exist in today s society but the evidence is prominent. There is
still a great group of extraordinary activist and leaders today, who still fight a great fight for civil
rights. But who started the era of activism, and the movement for civil rights were two
Historians one was Martin Luther King Jr, and the other was Malcom Both Men advocated for
the same thing but their deliveries were different while Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, advocated for
more of a peaceful revolution, Malcom X advocated in the use of violence and demanding style
when delivering The Ballot or the Bullet speech. Malcom X would give the Ballot or the Bullet
speech in 1964 in Cleveland Ohio, in front of more than two thousand people. This speech was
also significant because it was delivered after Martin Luther King Jr s I Have a Dream Speech.
The Ballot or The Bullet Speech was about nationalism during that year, X was encouraging African
Americans to vote for who was going to benefit blacks. White

It is in this way that we must train ourselves: by liberation of the self through love. We will

If we ask why our social evolution has become so maladaptive, we come immediately upon the
key influence of mass advertising. From an early age, we are bombarded by powerful imagery,
deployed through a hypnotic medium, television, that bypasses conscious filters to directly
influence our subconscious mind. The vivid imagery of television and movies create a seamless
virtual reality that programs our collective nervous system. From America to China, consumerism
has become an organizing principle for billions of peoples lives.
Zen Buddhist philosopher David R. Loy states:
Consumerism requires and develops a sense of our own impoverishment. By manipulating the
gnawing sense of lack that haunts our insecure sense of self, the attention economy insinuates its
basic message deep into our awareness: the solution to any discomfort we might have is
consumption. Needless to say, this all pervasive conditioning is incompatible with the liberative
path of Buddhism.
Consumption has replaced religion and citizenship as the way we participate in society. It is one of
4 Megaphenomena that have spiked in intensity over the last century, combining to create
unprecedented danger for the biosphere. Population growth, carbon gas emissions and species
extinctions are the other three megaphenomena.
Fossil fuels will be exhausted within this century. The production

Descartes Discourse Method
Descartes, A discourse on the method, 1637 coincides with the authors argument the although
Descartes was taught at the best school in England he left without feeling intellectually
accomplished, that he instead had doubts which reviled to him how ignorant he was. That
Descartes believing he was ignorant in order to gain knowledge created a method that could
establish absolute truthif only for himself as although he can try to show others what he believes
they have to come to an agreement with it in order to internalize it. In this method Descartes would
disregard his senses and use logic.
Descartes decided that he would not accept everything he was told to be true nor would he trust
what he perceived to be true because he, like everyone else,

the entire world, although it only takes up 10% of the livable land. Rice is their main product,
which takes up 25% of their farming land. China is also the world s leading producer of cotton.
China also has a large variety of livestock. Among these are cattle, water buffalo, yaks, horses,
cows, pigs, and fowls. Fowls and pigs are their most important, China also is a big aquaculture

Neil Gorsuch Accomplishments
The most significant achievement of the Trump Administration so far is the nomination of 49
year old Neil Gorsuch, as Supreme Court Justice. On many issues, dear to conservatives Mr.
Gorsuch is a perfect match. He usually sides with companies, provides little room for
condemned prisoners appealing against death sentences, and goes out of his way to protect
institutions. It seems clear he is personally, at least pro life. In his 2006 book, The Future of
Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia , Mr. Gorsuch wrote that all human beings are intrinsically
valuable and the intentional taking of human life by private persons is always wrong . He is also
an exceptionally good writer and it matters, since words are what the law is made of, and a well

Microcosm In The Film Snowpiercer
Director Bong Joon ho s post apocalyptic film, Snowpiercer (2013), follows the capitalistic
microcosm of a super train that houses the last vestiges of humanity. Curtis, the film s protagonist,
leads a group of ragtag revolutionists against the carefully perfected balance of the train in hopes
of obtaining an egalitarian system. As the group forces their way from the tail of the train to the
engine room, they re greeted with new surprises with each new train car they pass through. On
their quest, the group comes across a seemingly harmless school car. It s in this school car that
viewers see the juxtaposition Joon ho created between the train babies from the tail section and the
more privileged middle class children. Joon ho also highlights the indoctrination of the children
during their formative years as a way to keep balance in the microcosm.... Show more content on

The most obvious use of mise en scene presents itself as color. Before stumbling upon the school
car, all the scenes were shot in very muted, dark tones. The camera abruptly straight cuts from
Minister Mason to the school car and the change in coloration overwhelms viewers. As Curtis and
company move into the school car, the camera moves in a traveling shot, displaying all the
children costumed in colorful clothing and homemade masks. Seeing those masks, it s inferred
that the middle class children enjoy crafts and toys that are easily accessible, but in the tail section,
the children only have one raggedy ball to pass around. This scene emphasizes that the tail section
children are deprived of so much, whether it be color, toys, crafts, or even the most important

(2) CURRENT MARKETING SITUATION
2.1 MARKET SITUATION
Market Segments:
Restaurant is not a place, which can be assigned to any one category of market, but to be more
efficient in directing the resources to the right target market, for this we have done market
segmentation. According to the given statistical data, we can easily understand why children were
chosen to be the target market:
Between 5 10 years 75% Between 11 18 years 88% Between 19 25 years 28% Between 26 40 years
45% Between 41 onwards 14%
The result of the analysis states that the age group of 5 18 is the best target segment to be focused.
The rest of them are some how related to the above two fields and can be influenced by their
demands to come to the restaurant.
Geographic Segments:
Here we subdivide markets into segments based on geographic distribution the regions, counties,
cities and towns where people live and work. This can be taken out by taking into consideration:
a) Regional population distribution
b) Urban, suburbs and rural distribution

The Trolley Dilemma By Philippa Foot
The trolley dilemma was first created by Philippa Foot The Problem of Abortion and the
Doctrine of the Double Effect in 1967 as a thought experiment on ethics, it then evolutionized
into what we know today. Making us question human morality, write books annually and hold
worldwide presentations. I will explain the trolley dilemma and how Mill s Theory of Utility is
the best way to approach this problem, helping us attain the answer with the best moral outcome.
The question states that there is a trolley, a train, speeding down the railroad tracks which you
are walking beside. You realized that straight ahead there is five people tied up and unable to
move from the tracks. You then noticed that you are next to a lever that you can pull and switch
to a different set of tracks. However, there is one person on the other track tied up unable to move
as well. You have two options: One, do nothing, and the trolley kills the five people on the main
track. Second, pull the lever, diverting the train onto the side track where it will kill one person.
What would you do is the final question? This sadistic question was designed to test your moral
values. It is studied in the cognitive science field, neuroethics, psychology, law and philosophy
today. It challenges people s beliefs, ethics, philosophical beliefs and theories of consequentialism,
utilitarianism theory and the bystander effect. There are several variations to this

The Causes and Treatments of Acute Renal Failure
According to Sushrut Waikar, Every year more than 1 million hospitalizations in the United States
are complicated by acute kidney injury, accounting for an estimated $10 billion in excess costs to
the healthcare system. Acute Renal failure is the inability of your kidneys to work properly. Your
kidneys lose the ability to remove waste, filter and balance fluid and electrolytes. This type of renal
failurehappens most often when there is an injury or trauma and blood flow to kidneys is
severely compromised. A person can return back to normal after having acute renal failure, that
is if you detect the problem and treat it on time. There are three causes prerenal, intrarenal and
postrenal. In prerenal there is a sudden and drastic drop in blood pressure which can result in no
blood flow to your kidneys also dehydration can be a part of it as well. Intrarenal occurs when the
damage being done is directly to the kidneys. This can happen from the overuse of medications.
Medications are not bad when used correctly but when you overuse or don t use them correctly
they can be very harmful to your kidneys. Postrenal is when there is an obstruction in the urinary
tract most often from renal calculi or an enlarged prostate in men that blocks the flow of urine.
Diagnostic tests can be done to determine kidney function. The most important test to determine
kidney function would be BUN and creatinine. Normal BUN is 6 20 mg/dl, creatinine normal
levels are 0.6 1.2mg/dl. If kidneys begin

Reflection Paper On Cycling
One must be willing to persevere through tough times in order to reach the good times. On
September 17, last weekend, I earned what I consider to be my best race result in my young
cycling career. After a high speed crash in the road race the day before, I managed to bounce
back and earned a third place in the Pensacola Cycling Classic pro / one / two criterium. This
perfectly exemplifies one of the many life lessons that cycling has taught me over the course of
the past five years. I would have never learned these lessons, had I not received my first road
bike in 2012. My bike has given me more than I ever thought was possible. I have found a
passion and a niche that has engulfed my life, and I love every second of it. I have made friends
from California, all the way to the far reaches of Maine. I have suffered through the high desert
of Bend, Oregon and labored up the mountains of Greenville, South Carolina. I have experienced
the high of screaming down a mountain at fifty miles an hour, filling your lungs with dread, but
making your heart feel as if it is floating. These people I have met, places I have been, and
feelings I have felt have molded me into a modge podge of regional cultures. In fact, this modge
podge will become international, as I will be traveling to Odense, Denmark to racefor Team USA in
2018. This will be yet another once in a lifetime opportunity, all thanks to cycling. During my early
years of racing, I was able to succeed without a large

Behavioral Addictions And Substance Abuse Addictions
In 2013, the release of the updated Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth

Addictions are said to be around for hundreds of years. For example, gambling was part of daily
life in ancient Greece. (Hekster, 2002). In the first edition of American Psychiatric Association in

United States Health Care System
TITLE OF PAPER
For many years the condition of the United States health care system has been a hot topic for
debate. Some would like to believe that the U.S has the best health care system in the world, but
unfortunately that may not be the truth. In 2000 The World Health Organization (WHO) released a
world health report. The report ranked the overall health system performance of 191 countries; the
United States was ranked at 37 out of the 191. With out of control costs, highly inequitable
coverage and comparatively low health outcomes, the US healthcare system has failed to provide

citizens that a new plan to reform health care had to be devised.
On March 23, 2010 congress approved and President Obama signed The Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act (PPACA) into law. The PPACA is more commonly known as just the
Affordable Care Act (ACA) or negatively as Obamacare. In order for the ACA to be passed, the
President had to appease the different political parties. As a result, the ACA is not entirely an
original idea. Some of the main provisions already had the support of various political parties,
because they had been introduced by past presidents and political parties in their health reform
plans over the past few decades. Some examples include: both Nixon and Carter had employer
mandates; Bush had a version of the individual mandate, both Bush and Clinton proposed similar
ideas to the insurance marketplace, among a few others. The ACA is similar to universal health care;
the objective is to ensure that the US citizens have access to affordable quality healthcare, instead
of a free market for all like in other countries it is still for profit. The Affordable Care Act increases
access to care, makes health insurance more affordable, strengthens Medicare and ensures that
Americans have more rights and protections (U.S. Department of

Media Coursework Production Evaluation ( 760 Words )
A2 Media Coursework Production Evaluation (760 WORDS)
The focus of my investigation was to analyse the representation of women in horror films. The
films I had selected were Resident Evil Retribution (2012) and Halloween (1978). In the film,
Resident Evil Retribution, the representation of women was stronger, whereas Halloween
represented females as weak and vulnerable as they were from a different epoch. I have used codes
and conventions and also subverted the representation of women in my opening sequence of the
horror film.
The codes and conventions I discovered include:
в¦Ѓ Females are represented as weak and vulnerable
в¦Ѓ The close up on Halima s face screaming (Elder Sister)
The subversion of stereotypes of Trapped 2016
в¦ЃThe females are not sexually objectified
в¦Ѓ Females from an Islamic background
The opening sequence I have created has similar conventions to Halloween (1978). During the
closing equilibrium of Judith Myer screaming, implies that she is weak and vulnerable, likewise I
have included this in my horror film, where both of the young, female characters scream once they
see the person with the anonymous mask. The purpose of including this element is to ensure the
film is easy to market success, as stated by Steve Neal that if there are repertoires of elements in a
film, audiences are more likely to see it as it follows the codes and conventions.
I have selected a medium shot to ensure the audience clearly see the character s body and it provides

Persuasive Speech About Stereotypes
Don t be racist, be PewDiePie. He is Swedish, looks American, lives in the UK, has an Italian
girlfriend, and likes Mexican candy. The U.S. is no longer as racist as it used to be, as 200 years
ago, you were likely a slave because of your skin color. However, today many Americans are being
racist to Asians in a new way: stereotyping. Hello, I m Dexter Chen, and today I will be discussing
why you shouldn t stereotypeAsians because stereotypes aren t true, are extremely discouraging,
and because stereotyping is offensive in general. Before we get into this topic, let me explain what
stereotyping is. Stereotyping is judging a group, religion, ethnicity, or even gender, although these
stereotypes might not reflect on reality. This is caused by social media, the human tendency to
reduce complex things to simple things, and prejudice. You might be thinking to yourself: Gee, how
is stereotyping offensive? It s just a playful way of describing someone! If you are thinking that
doubtful thought, then pay attention, because I will show you why you shouldn t stereotype
anyone, especially Asians. First things first: Stereotypes are usually untrue. An average Asian
Americanstereotype would be nerdy, introverted, and smart. That stereotype isn t even close to
true. Imagine 4.4 billion people all being nerdy, smart, and introverted. That s literally not possible.

makes very less noise while juicing. Even with wheat grass, Horum does an efficient job which
customers cannot expect on juicers from top most or reputed brands.
Some of the common complaints on Horum are blade jamming. This is a situational defect. If
the customer tries to push the consumables too hard before it is crushed, then the blade would be
jammed. If the eatables are very hard, then users might need to cut it down to smaller pieces to
make the blade to rotate freely. However, this is not a fault with Horum juicer. Occasional breaks
can happen, which can be tackled by filing warranty claims. Breaks are very rare and do not tend
to happen frequently. This case is the same even for

How Did Hezbollah Cross Border Raid
On July 12, 2006 Hezbollah launched an elaborate cross border raid. In the first stage of the raid
Hezbollah launched Katyusha rockets on Israeli positions in villages such as Zar it. Five civilians
were wounded. While Israel was distracted a group of Hezbollah fighters crossed the border and
coordinated an attack on two Israeli Humvees with a group of Hezbollah fighters near the border in
south Lebanon. After killing all the soldiers in one of the Humvees Hezbollah managed to disable
the other Humvee and capture two Israeli soldiers and transport them to Lebanon. The point of
this capture was to negotiate a prisoner exchange, but what Hezbollah received in return was a
war. On top of the two captured three Israeli soldiers were killed. Five more Israeli soldiers would
be killed later in a failed rescue attempt. In response to this even... Show more content on

My Love Story
When I was younger I would make conversation with any breathing personage. As I grew older
just the thought of having to interact with someone I did not know was mortifying. Therefore,
signing up for a full week of a Young Life camp was one of the hardest decisions I have made.
Trying to back out the night before, I wandered on to the bus at six in the morning. A forty five
minute drive and forced to scarf up my cell phone. Arriving at the camp we were greeted by a
thousand smiling faces. Settling into our cabin, I was a little more relaxed until I heard the bell.
Curiously, we walked out onto the porch to see everyone running. Our cabin quickly followed
into the chaos. I Pushed and scraped my way through everyone, and made my way to the front
row of the club room. I thought to myself how idiotic it was, I was already a Christian. What else
is there to learn about God? Little did I know. That night was the first time I had been introduced
to God on a deeper level. I saw him as intimidating and loving instead of a fictional character in
my head. I felt comfort and at peace for once. July twenty fourth, two thousand and sixteen is the
day that changed my life forever. I heard the greatest lovestory of all time. Most people know what
it feels like to be loved by a family member, friend, or a spouse. However, nobody can grip the
thought of someone loving them as much as Jesus. He could have stopped the Roman soldiers at
any given point. However, without His mercy and grace we

who was a peddler at the time, willingly threw her and her sisters into an orphanage at the age of
twelve only to be raised by nuns. Cocostarted off her exciting life as a singer performing in

Samsung mobile phone.
Abstract
This essay analyses the Samsung Mobile company by applying Porter s Five forces. Also each
factor will be compared with Apple and Nokia which are competitive companies in the mobile
industry and the strength of Samsung s strategic position will be demonstrated.
Introduction
Samsung Electronics, Apple and Nokia are the competitive mobile companies. To compare each
company s strategic position Samsung was chosen. Although many components are needed to make
mobile phones; semiconductors and the operating systems (OS) which companies use will be
mainly discussed because these factors have an effect on the function of a mobile phone. Therefore

The power of suppliers
Samsung, Apple, and Nokia use a variety of suppliers for mobile components (Husso, 2011). As
some mobile components of Samsung Electronics are provided by their subsidiary company, it
seems that they have low power of supplier. Also, the subsidiary company which is Samsung
Semiconductor was ranked second in the number of sales throughout the world in 2012(Leachman
et al, 2002). This means that their semiconductors could be delivered for a low price in high
quality. The most interesting factor is that Apple and Nokia chose the Samsung Semiconductor for
their supplier (Leachman et al, 2002). Therefore Samsung Semiconductor could reduce the fixed
cost as they produce large amounts of semiconductors to provide to two large companies.
In the case of Operating System, except for Samsung, Apple and Nokia use their own company s
OS which is iOS and Symbian respectively. In the OS market, Android accounts for over 50%
market share which means they provide OS to many mobile companies (Fernandez,2009).
Therefore Samsung which uses Android OS has high level of power of Operating System

Celeste s Heart Themes
The themes found in the passages, Celeste s Heart by Aida Bartnik and Principals and Principles
by Daniel Hadler both are similar. A similar theme from both passages is that you have to stand up
for what you believe in no matter the cost or outcome.
In the passage Celeste s Heart, the story s message shows the theme shared between the two
passages. The main character, Celeste is a young student who attends a school in Argentina.
During the break periods at school, their teacher would make her class stand in a line and stretch
their arms out for two break periods. After getting home from school and realizing the true hardship

her announcement had violated student rights. ... I was sent to the principal s office... She asked me

teachers. I said that free dress was one of our rights. She said that shorts led students to have

she was in charge. I said that free dress was one of our rights. She kept pointing at me. I kept
pointing at the pamphlet... until at last she gave up... In eighth grade we got a new version of the
pamphlet. Instead of Students have the right to free dress, it read, Students have the responsibility
to dress appropriately, I threw away. If you stand up for your rights, you can count on the fact that
the wicked people will find sneaky ways to change the rules. But you should stand up for your
rights anyways... ( Hadler Paragraph 4) In this story, Daniel and most of the grade has worn

He played it cool and told them that once a year they would let them bring book home to show

Cast Away
In the movie Cast Away, Chuck Noland says that to turn ones back on time is to commit a sin. In
this movie, Chuck s life revolves around time, and his ability to make more money is directly
affected by time. This fact, however, is exactly what is related as a bad thing. Throughout the
movie, capitalistic ventures, which require an extreme investment of time, are characterized as evil.
The message sent in Cast Awayis that we live in a corrupt and morally bankrupt society which is

not good at dealing with people or emotions. He only gives his friend a phone number when his
friend s wife is dying of cancer. He offers no emotional support, and even tries to stay out of the
conversation when the flight attendant is talking to his friend about it. Some other examples of
this are the Christmas presents he buys Kelly (Cast Away). Even though they are gag gifts, it is
still insensitive, and he did not think about how it would make her feel. He suffers a Satan esque
fall to this island where suddenly all the time and money in the world no longer matter. It is only
after being stripped of these elements that Chuck is able to sort out what really matters in life. The
fact that he does not open the package with the wings on it symbolizes that he is beginning to
become more attuned to the elements of life that truly matter (Cast Away). He could have easily
opened it, but he realized that respecting someone s privacy, even on that remote island, was vitally
important. He also realized that having a companion was important in survival, and this is why he
created Wilson (Cast Away). Wilson taught him that he was taking his friendships and relationships

Pro Gun Control Debate
As we engulf ourselves in politics for the election year, there has been frequent source of debate
between the candidates; gun control. In the words of Patrick J. Charles of Britannica, gun
control is ...politics, legislation, and enforcement of measures intended to restrict access to, the
possession of, or the use of arms, specifically firearms. Even taking away the political
importance, gun control is a hot topic that is in every Americans mind as fear for personal safety
is on the rise. This has been created by increased media attention and coverage of mass shootings,
which seem to occur more frequently as time goes on. This has lead to the question: can we use
laws and enforcement to reduce the violence? It shows creating laws to control or ban the
purchasing and use of firearms is the most probable to be the solution to reducing gun violence
while coinciding with proper firearm education. The event that sparked the modern debate of gun
control occurred on July 20, 2012 when James Holmes used weapons with high capacity magazines
to open fire on a sold out movie theatre in Aurora, Colorado, and accumulated 74 casualties,

Both terrorist and transnational organized criminal groups utilize illegal activities to further their
agendas and increase their coffers. Some of the methods employed are: kidnapping, drug trafficking,
and human trafficking. Recently these two groups have begun working together to accomplish

2.1 The Imams
The Imamate began with Ali, who is also accepted by Sunni Muslims as the fourth of the rightly

beginning with his sons Hasan and Husain, continue the line of the Imams until the Twelfth, who is
believed to have ascended into a supernatural state to return to earth on judgment day.
Shias point to the close lifetime association of Muhammad with Ali. When Ali was six years old,
he was invited by the Prophet to live with him, and Shias believe Ali was the first person to make
the declaration of faith in Islam. Ali also slept in Muhammad s bed on the night of the hijra, or
migration from Mecca to Medina, when it was feared that the house would be attacked by
unbelievers and the Prophet stabbed to death. He fought in all the battles Muhammad did except
one, and the Prophet chose him to be the husband of his favorite daughter,

Abstract
Acute Stress Disorder or ASD is a phenomenon that happens during or shortly after a traumatic
event. It can affect people in many different ways but it is usually debilitating for up to one month.
There has been controversy and stigma attached to the diagnosis of ASD since it was first added to
the DSM IV. This paper will illustrate the definition of ASD, the diagnostic guidelines, the
difference between ASD and Acute Stress Reaction(ASR), symptoms and effective treatments, the

While many aspects remain the same thee has been some additional criteria or information that
makes the diagnosis more effecting. The diagnostic criteria for ASD include; experiencing or
witnessing actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violation, or learning that the event
occurred to a friend or close relative, repeated or extreme exposure to the event but it is important to
note that this does not include exposure through mass media. In DSM IV three criteria had to be
met along with the occurrence of other disturbances. In DSM V this is sectioned together and eight
or more of the symptoms must be met, starting with at least three of the disassociated symptoms
such as numbing, depersonalization, or amnesia. There are four inclusion symptoms that could
occur such as flashbacks, recurrent images, thoughts, or dreams. Two avoidance symptoms that
could include avoiding conversations, activities, people, and places that bring back intense feelings
and memories of the event. Furthermore; symptoms of arousal or anxiety such as the inability or
difficulty sleeping, irritability, poor concentration, and the inability to sit still or body tremors and
shaking. There needs to be clinically observed stress or impairment, the symptoms last from three
days to one month after the event and are not due to the use of substances, a medical condition, or

The Harlem Renaissance
The Harlem Renaissance writers were able to speak out for African Americans and present to the
world their own culture into American life. This movement allowed African Americans to share
their talents and abilities with the rest of the society and they did not have to feel the least bit
ashamed about it. Through having the chance to share their work, these writers spread across
America the new negro ; an individual who has the power to express, share, and present to the
world their own uniqueness of culture (Locke, 985). Although the Harlem Renaissancemade a huge
impact on repairing the psychology of the negro , Langston Hughescontributed a great deal to this

In his essay, Blueprint for Negro Writing, Richard Wright rejects the Renaissance at which he
brings forward several reasons as to why. To begin, he discusses the role of the negro writing and
how the negro writer does not write to the black audience, but to the whites and through doing so,
the negro writer treats themselves worse than others. In the text, he writes: Rarely was the best of
this writing addressed to the Negro himself, his needs, his sufferings, his aspirations. Through
misdirection, Negro writers have been far better to others than they have been to themselves
(Wright, 1403). In his work, he questions the power of the Negro writers and the path that they are
taking. Initially, the negro writers are not focusing on their own lives, their experiences and
condition (Wright, 1403). Another issue that Wright brings forward in his essay is that Negro
writing has been addressed in the main to a small white audience rather than to a Negro one, it
should be stated that no attempt is being made here to propagate a specious and blatant nationalism
(Wright, 1405). Essentially, what Wright is addressing is that writers are more focused on the white
audience rather than the black audience and he states that a gap continues to widen between them
and their people (Wright, 1404). Another point that Wright makes is that Negros should accept the
nationalist implications of their lives, not in order to encourage them, but in order to change and
transcend them (Wright, 1406). In response to this, Wright says that Negro writers should be
focusing on the hardships of their lives, and the fact that their life is not easy (Wright, 1406). The
only way to bring change is to accept the fact that this is the reality. In his work, he continues to

The Split Horn Analysis
Introduction:
Summary:
The Split Horn, narrated by a young Shaman s daughter, illustrates the journey of a Hmong
Shaman; a healer and spiritual leader, Paja, and his family moving from their motherland, Laos, to
Appleton, Wisconsin. Along with numerous difficulties they face trying to keep and practice their
family s ancient traditions in an unfamiliar environment. His daughter, Chai Thao, gives us an
insight into what the family goes through as several of her siblings completely lose correspondence
with their family s long established customs. However, as Paja s children embrace and grow to
learn the American culture, including: computer games, TV and Christianity, his concerns and
worries for his family s integration also increases. As the leader of the group, Paja must attend to
the needs of friends and family with elaborate rituals that connect the natural and spirit worlds
together. With that being said, Paja Thao, spirals into depression because of both his family and
because he is unable to perform his rituals and heal his people. Ultimately, towards the end of the
movie, after several obstacles he had faced, with the help of one of his relatives who performed a
ceremony for Paja and his wife, he is able to heal himself and continue performing his rituals on
others which further helps restore his strength and reunite his family members. Therefore, the
filmmaker s thesis is that families who relocate from their homeland to the Western culture

I Know Who You Are And I Saw What You Did By Lori Field
An enchanted arrangement of wildflowers, beasts and humans intertwined together in a fantasy
world. I Know Who You Are and I Saw What You Did, by Lori Field is a hand drawn piece on
paper using an ancient writing method called silverpoint. Lori s style is a mixture of surrealistic,
grotesque and contemporary pop. Her process consists of hand drawing either with silverpoint
or color pencils and then uses wax to layer the drawings to create one piece like a collage. At first
glance this piece captures the audiences eyes on the two women who are main characters. One
woman is in full armor with her eyes closed while the other woman is floating next to her gazing
upon her. The piece definitely has a surrealistic feel, almost like the audience is looking into the
woman s dream especially since the woman floating has a dress on with the words I cannot sleep
written on it. Due to the specific symbols, objects, and animal imagery there is an intended hidden
message intended for the audience to discover. Created in 2012, I Know Who You Are and I Saw

Christianity, Christianity And Christianity
Religion is the belief and worship of a higher power which is in control of the universe. The most
popular religions in the world today are Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. All four of
these religions teach peace. However, followers do not always get along with each other
peacefully. All of these religions have a moral code to live by and encourage devotion and prayer.
The religion of Christianityis one of the prevalent forms of religion, and it is most widely spread.
There are over three billion followers and has many sects around the world. While each sect has
different customs, all Christians believe that there is only one Godand creator of the universe.
Within this God, there is God the father (creator of the universe), God the Son (Jesusor Christ, the
Messiah), and God the Holy Spirit (The actual presence of God that is in us or around us but is
not visually apparent). The people of this religion believe Jesus, born of a virgin mother, and
died on the cross for our sins, and resurrected three days later. Followers of Christ believe that
Christ was God s son and the true Messiah, sent to earth to free us from our sins through
salvation. Achievement of Salvation by believing in Christ s life, death, and resurrection. When a

Through The Looking Glass of Art Essay
What makes us human is the ability to recognize the good in other people and in turn recognize
the good in ourselves. There is a saying that whatever you think about another person is just a
reflection of what you think about yourself; it is like looking into a mirror. Paintings can act like
mirrors as well; we can gaze into a painting and see the good of the subject being portrayed and in
turn we can identify the same attributes within ourselves allowing us to relate to the subject
matter. Both Rembrandt and Vermeer were able to capture intersubjectivity in their paintings. In
The Return of the Prodigal Son (Fig. 1) and Aristotle (Fig. 2) by Rembrandt and The Milk Maid

The capacity to forgive one another is one way we are able to see the humanity in others. The
second painting of Rembrandt s that produces a deep connection between the image and the
viewer is Aristotle (Fig. 2); this painting shows us Aristotle in contemplation looking discontent.
According to Mariet Westermann, Rembrandt is suggesting, Aristotle is torn by the competing
demands of spiritual matters, embodied in the bust of Homer, and secular ones, signified by the
medal with the portrait of Alexander the Great, which dangles from the gold chain
(Westermann, p. 244). Humans have been torn emotionally between two different paths in life
since we gained the ability to rationalize. The idea of being able to make choices comes into play
when considering free will, having free will is the ability to choose ones own destiny. What
better picture to look at than Rembrandts Aristotle (Fig. 2) when contemplating ethical theories.
At some time or another we have been confronted with moral dilemmas, in the face of those
quandary s we must choose the path that will lead us to our highest and best good. These
decisions are not always easy ones to make and sometimes we make the wrong choices, but in
the end they will teach us valuable lessons. One of Vermeer s works that people can see the

Passion is particularly important for entrepreneurs because although rewarding, the process of
starting and building a new firm is demanding. Entrepreneurship isn t for the person who us only
partially committed.
Product/Customer focus. This concept underscores an understanding of the two most important
elements in any business products and customers. While it is important to think about management,
marketing, finance, and the like, none of those functions makes any difference if a firm does not
have good products with the capability to satisfy customers. An entrepreneur s keen focus on
products and customers typically stems from the fact that most successful entrepreneurs are, at
heart, craftspeople. They are obsessed with making products that can satisfy customer s need. This
is an important point to remember , particularly in an era when it is tempting to envision new
businesses resulting from every advance in technology.
Tenacity despite failure. Because entrepreneurs are typically trying something new, the failure rate
associated with their efforts is naturally high. In addition, the process of developing a new business
is somewhat similar to what a scientist experiences in the laboratory. Developing a new business
idea may require a certain

The Morphology Of Species Of Snakes
The term morphology refers to a division of biology that looks at the forms of living organisms
and the relationships between them and their physical structures. In terms of morphology, snakes
are quite interesting, especially when it comes to venomous snakes of Kansas. Here, we will
describe snakes, their structure, what they eat, how often, reproduction, habitat and other
interesting facts about snakes in general. Then, we will examine closely venomous snakes that
are indigenous to Kansas. Snakes are elongated, flexible, and limbless reptiles from the suborder
Serpentes. There are approximately 2,900 different species of snakes. There are around 700
different species of venomous snakes and 250 of these are able to kill a human with a single bite.
Snakeare generally carnivorous. They eat various items such as termites, birds, eggs, mice,
rabbits, and other reptiles/mammals. Snakes do not chew their prey; they swallow it whole and
their moveable maxillary allows them to swallow large prey three times the size of their heads.
They have rear facing teeth which helps them keep their prey captive until they can swallow it.
Some venomous snakes will inject their prey with venom while constricting snakes will squeeze
the breath from their prey until they die. Snakes do not need to hunt food every day because they
only eat once or twice per week. Large snakes such as anacondas and pythons can survive for up to
an entire year without food. Mostly snakes hunt at

The colonization of the Americas by Spain and the beginning of extensive silver mining in
Japan greatly increased silver production. However, this increase of the supply of silver, while to
some people seemed good, overall caused problems. Although the increase in silver mining
appeared to benefit Japan and Spain the suppliers as well as Ming China the receivers overall this
increase caused worldwide problems. The effect of the increase of silver production, while being
beneficial to the middlemen that facilitated the trade, eventually weakened states empires that

Although this would not affect the economy at all, the basic reason to be frugal is one that the
Ming Empire should have used in their large transactions that would affect the economy.
Furthermore, the affect moneylenders in order to buy things, since they must use silver instead of
a traditional barter economic system ( doc5). The increase impedance to the Chinese economy
would fill the pockets of moneylenders instead of benefiting the economy. Likewise, the increase
in silver production, while benefiting Spain early on, in time hurt the Spanish empire. Tomas de
Mercado, a Spanish scholar, wrote how the high prices of luxury goods caused silver to only flow
out of Spain, hurting the economy (doc2). Mercado wrote this account in 1571, yet already Ming
ships conducted extensive silver trade with the Spanish Empire via Manila. In addition, Antonio
Vasquez de Espinosa, a Spanish priest, shows another side that the silver production affected in
negative way the social side: Vaquez, writing about Potosi, the largest silver mine in Spain s
colonial possessions, describes the terrible condition that Native American dealt with in the labor in
the mines ( doc6).Although the encomienda system had already been dismantled in 1542, Vasquez
shows the continuing manipulation of the Native American population by the Spanish. Vasquez, a

Finding Deep Meaning Of Film
Finding Deep Meaning in Film As was demonstrated in my analysis of Uys (1980) film, the
techniques used for biblical interpretation may be used not merely for biblical interpretation or as a
means to read literature as an example of the modern parable. These techniques may also be used to
the interpretation of film as a medium of communication. Rosenberg, Lucchesi, Boardman, Vinson,
Flynn, and Derrickson s (2005), The exorcism of Emily Rose, provides a wonderful platform for
examining these techniques as it is fraught with meaning, should the viewer take time to peel back
the layers of the onion. Rosenberg et al. (2005) tells the story of the death of Emily Rose and the
Catholic priest who is charged with the negligent homicide. On... Show more content on

There are many theological themes that flow from the basic narrative if one takes time to consider
them. Beyond the question of the cause of Emily s death, one finds themes that relate to faith and
rational thought, the existence of God and demons, the relationship between faith and science,
suffering and faith, compassion and pain, and submission to a higher authority. While I will not
take the time to delve into each one of these themes independently, I will select a few that are the
most critical to this author. The first theme that becomes apparent is an overt attack on religion.
Early on in the film, we find a group of lawyers talking about who will prosecute the case. It is
stated that, We need a Christian on this, preferably a Catholic. Someone who knows this stuff
inside and out, and who the public will see as unbiased. We re going after a holy man here
(Rosenberg et al, 2005). It was not merely about identifying a prosecutor who was capable, but one
who took attack the faith and discredit the exorcism rite. The courtroom attacks on Father Moore
continue in this vain claiming that his views were based upon, archaic and irrational superstition
(Rosenberg et al, 2005). The Christian faith is depicted as the product of fiction; because it cannot
be rationalized. A second theme that flows from the film is the question of the existence of God
and demons. Peter Chattaway (n.d.),

African Americans and The Reconstruction Period
The Reconstruction Period I think is a problem for the African Americans back then. They were
treated unfairly during this period, when it was to being them a new started and hope of change.
Don t get me wrong there were some people who were for them to e happy, but not many. So, let
start at the being; where it all happened. In January of 1865, Union General William T. Sherman
issued a special field order Number 15, which temporary granted each freed family 40 acres of
land off the region of Georgia in the islands and coastal area. Also the Union Army donated
mules to them after the war was over. In the summer of 1865 when President Andrew Johnson
was in office, his first act of Reconstruction was to give back all the federal control land back to
its previous owner. When the land was giving back to the owners, freed men and women could
sign a labor contracts with the planters or they could leave the land they occupied this was called
Freedman s Bureau. Soon after when the land was giving back, the former Confederate state stated
Black Codes . Black Codes would deny African Americans to legal have equality and political
rights. Also it would require then to sign yearly labor contracts with the planters. When this happen,
Congress made the Reconstruction Act in the 1867, when the 14th (June 13, 1866) and the 15th
(February 26, 1869, ratified on February 3, 1870) Amendments. These two amendments granted
African Americans the right to vote, and equality before the law and

The Geologic Scale Of Dinosaurs
The earth has existed for about 4.6 billion years; the geologic scale divides all of these years into
sections, much like chapters in a book. Each of these sections is unique because it shows all of the
changes on earth s surface throughout the years. The largest of these sections on the geologic scale
is eons. Eons are also divided into another two sections call ears. Eras are then divided into periods
and then periods are divided into epochs. The reasons why the sections have been divided are either
because major organisms developed or went extinct. Organisms go extinct because they either run
out of space or food, or the environment changes making it hard for some organisms to survive the
new environment (Ghose). Dinosaurs started developing after a mass extinction of the Paleozoic
Era just about 125 million years ago. Dinosaurs lived through the Mesozoic Era then later died off
during another mass extinction about 65 million years ago, starting the beginning of the Cenozoic
Era. Almost all dinosaurs and half of the other plants and animals went extinct, some scientist think
that an asteroid hit the earth wiping out everything in sight. At the beginning of the Cenozoic Era,
which still continues today, scientist have a better understanding of this era because humans are
living through it and are able to document everything that happens throughout the years. (Gammon)
When the average person thinks of dinosaurs they envision a big ferocious reptile. Which is mainly
true but

My Experience At Hair Savvy Hair And Nail Salon
The entrepreneur I interviewed was, Dehra Battle. She is the owner and stylist at Hair Savvy
Hair and Nail Salon. The salon opened up on the Spring of 2010. I have known Dehra for the past
10 years. She has been my personal hair stylist for the last 10 years. Being a close family friend, I
have witnessed her trials and tribulations with being an entrepreneur. I choose Dehra, because she
is a wonderful and hard working woman; she has a passion for helping others with self esteem
by creating signature styles that will give any woman the confidence. Dehra was not satisfied
with working under a salon owner who was not concerned about the workers safety and
customer satisfaction. She wanted to be in control and create an environment that customers
would love to attend regularly. Her personal background played a tremendous part of her in her
desire of becoming an entrepreneur. Dehra s mother was a nail tech part time for a the majority
of her childhood. Being in this environment for a strong portion of her life, she developed a
passion for the art of beauty services. As she got older she began to start learning how to do hair.
She attended a high schoolthat had a vocational program for where students could earn their
cosmetology license, STNA certificate, and etc. Dehra received her cosmetology license while in
high school. After graduation from high school, she worked in several shops where she trained
under some of the top stylists of Cleveland. She became the salonmanager

Biography Of Samuel De Champlain
When Samuel De Champlain was born in 1574, according to his baptismal certificate, which was
discovered in 2012, in Brouage, a small port town in the province of Saintonge, on the western
coast of France. But although Champlain he wrote extensively of his voyages and his later life,
little is known of his childhood. Champlain was likely born as a Protestant, but converted to
Catholicism as a young adult.Samuel De Champlainwas a french explorer and cartographer best
known for establishing and governing the settlements of New France and city of Quebec. The year
1603 Samuel De Champlain he began to explore the North America, establishing the city of Quebec
in the northern colony of New France, and mapping the Atlantic coast and the Great Lakes,... Show

Things didn t go smoothly for Champlain for long. Charles l of England commissioned an
expedition under David Kirke to displace the French. They attacked the fort and seized supply
ships, cutting off necessities to the colony. Champlain lived with the Hurons that winter, between
foot of Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe. During his stay, he composed one of the earliest and most
detailed accounts of Native American life. When Champlain returned to France, he found himself
embroiled in lawsuits and was unable to return to Quebec. He spent this time writing the stories of
his voyages, complete with maps and illustrations. When he was reinstated as lieutenant, he
returned to Canada with his wife, who was 30 years his junior. Champlain spent some time
writing about his travels until, in 1632, the British and the French signed the Treaty of Saint
Germain en Laye, returning Quebec to the French. Champlain returned to be its governor. By this
time, however, Champlain health was failing and he was forced to retire in 1633. Samuel De
Champlain died in Quebec on Christmas Day in 1635. So after all his traveling his health was
failing and there was nothing he could about it until he finally passed away on Christmas

The Qualities Of An Anglo Saxon Hero
Bravery. Honor. Intelligence. Loyalty. Sense of Duty. Selflessness. Sense of Justice. Strength.
Boasting. These are the common characteristics of an Anglo Saxon hero. Anglo Saxon heroes
display some or all of these attributes, which help distinguish them as a hero. Much like Batman
and Superman or other heros of modern day, Anglo Saxon heroes protect the public against evil
foes, or perhaps Villains. They act courageously and selflessly, without seeking personal gain. Also,
they possess an overwhelming sense of duty to protect those in need. Furthermore, Superheros are
loyal to those they serve, whether it be their lord, or the Lord. With all these characteristics in mind,
the character of Beowulfcan clearly be seen as an Anglo Saxon hero. Specifically, his overwhelming
bravery, loyalty, and sense of duty establish him as an Anglo Saxon hero. First of all, Beowulf is
the pure embodiment of bravery. A man who drove five great giants into chains, chased all of that
race from the earth , and also swam in the blackness of night, hunting monsters out of the ocean
and killing them one by one , is clearly the bravest man alive, bar none. Furthermore, even before
he slayed Grendel, Grendel s mother, and the Dragon, Beowulf already had a reputation as one of
the bravest men in the word. Then, while battling the three beasts we witness in Beowulf, he further
shows his bravery by killing Grendel with nothing but the strength in his fingers.
After that, he swims down through

behavior or sexuality issues. The oldest however seems to have a problem with being told what
to do, having chores and consequences for her action. This all comes from her having to be the
mother for her siblings and no proper adult figure around. Both the foster mother and child are
doing counseling together and separate. I feel this is the best for them, this is where change
begins and a new life for them as well. The mother is still not complying with counseling. Not
answering the door or either saying she is too sick to talk so visits are cut short. But she says
that she does like the counseling sessions and wants to keep doing it. Mother still drinks and
says she does not see a problem. Still not working, house evaluation failed. Mother no longer asks
about getting kids back. I feel that she has given up and so has the CM. There was no changes in
the plan. Both older children were promoted to next grade they still visit with siblings and mother
every other weekend still monitored. In court Judge told mother bluntly that she is not slow and is

Cup Of Baking Powder Experiment
The Effect of Amount of Baking Powder in a Cup of Cookie Dough on the Diameter of the Cookie
In this experiment, I investigated the effect of baking powder on the expansion of cookies. To
experiment, I made a large batch of cookie dough and then added different amounts of baking
powder to each cup of dough. My prediction was that the baking powder would rise the cookies
and therefore push them out to increase the diameter. I guessed this because I know that baking
powder rises cakes. From my results, I concluded that baking powder does expands a cookie.
Introduction
I have always loved to bake, but I sometimes get cookies that expand too much and end up
pushing up against the edge of the cookie sheet or two separate cookies coming out of the oven as
one super huge cookie. On the opposite side of the spectrum, when I try to stop this phenomenon
by scooping smaller cookies of a different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, my plastic measuring spoons are getting older, so some spoons have warped out of shape.
A professional chef would have more professional spoons that would improve the accuracy of
the ratios in my recipe. Next, my oven is a little weird. Sometimes when I follow a recipe, my
check on the recipe at the time it is supposed to be done shows it needs much more time. My main
point is that my oven may say it is three hundred and fifty degrees hot, but the oven is not correct.
This could hinder the growth of the cookies with higher amounts of baking powder because the
bubbles from the baking powder reaction have not had a chance to harden yet (Parks), causing my
results to be slightly inaccurate. Lastly, professional bakers would soften their butter for a good
amount of time. I did not soften my butter, so I most likely had a different outcome than a baker
would from letting the butter sit out from an hour to a night

Real Heroes In The Real World

saving the world. They are a symbol of hope, peace, and justice. This is what our heroes should
be, but are they a real heroes in this world? Is the real hero have a bat mobile? Do they have the
healing factor? Can they stop a thousand of terrorists with an outnumbered? The answers is no.

voices of innocence cried that they cannot resist. The question that follows is that can we an
ordinary people who are not solider, police, or do not have political power, or a strong
willingness to change a society be a hero. The answer is absolutely yes. We are all hero from the
chef that cook a chicken shawarma, to Uber drivers, to reception at hotel entrance. We are serving
society by doing our daily duty, and moving the country to better tomorrow for the next
generation. The hero figures we have seen from our first memory are our parents. They scarify at
least 15 years to raise their children. They still spend the rest of their lives to look after us, even
though we don t notice that. It does not require any special talent for typical human being to

ourselves. Many heroes started just hoping for a better tomorrow. Some heroes went down in

Delivery of low molecular drugs using chitosan and its derivatives
1.Introduction
The primary focus of this term paper consists of two parts. First, review chitosan based drug
delivery system for the delivery of traditional low molecular weight drugs based on a review paper
titled targeted delivery of low molecular drugs using chitosan and its derivatives (Advanced Drug
delivery reviews, 2010). Second, critique an original research paper about hydrotropic oligomer
conjugated glycol chitosan as a carrier for tumor targeted paclitaxel delivery, which was published
in Journal of Controlled Release in 2013 (title: Enhanced drug loading and therapeutic efficacy of
hydrotropic oligomer conjugated glycol chitosan nanoparticles for tumor targeted paclitaxel
delivery).
Chitosan, a linear aminopolysaccharide composed of randomly distributed (1в†’4) linked D
glucosamine and N acetyl D glucosamine units, is obtained by the deacetylation of chitin, a
structural element in the exoskeleton of crustaceans, which is the second most abundant natural
biopolymer after cellulose (Fig. 1). The most easily exploited sources of chitin are the protective
shells of crabs and shrimp. The primary aliphatic amines of chitosan can be protonated under acidic
conditions (amine pKa is 6.3). Fig 1. Chemical structure of chitosan
Research showed that long circulating macromolecules (polymer drug conjugates) and nano sized

  • 2. Summary Of The Ballot Or The Bullet Give ME Liberty or Give Me Death An Great Appeal to Pathos Through a Black Nationalist Rhetoric in The Ballot or the Bullet by Malcom X. Although The Years have passed and History is what our Nation was built on. The Unit States of America has always and consistently has had a problem with civil rights. From The Creation of this nation when mostly all white landowners owned slaves, to today where slavery is outlawed, civil rights still reside as an issue today. Some might disagree that racism still exist in today s society but the evidence is prominent. There is still a great group of extraordinary activist and leaders today, who still fight a great fight for civil rights. But who started the era of activism, and the movement for civil rights were two Historians one was Martin Luther King Jr, and the other was Malcom Both Men advocated for the same thing but their deliveries were different while Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, advocated for more of a peaceful revolution, Malcom X advocated in the use of violence and demanding style when delivering The Ballot or the Bullet speech. Malcom X would give the Ballot or the Bullet speech in 1964 in Cleveland Ohio, in front of more than two thousand people. Buddhism and the Climate Energy Emergency Statue of Buddha Sakyamuni, Bodh Gaya, India It is in this way that we must train ourselves: by liberation of the self through love. We will develop love, we will practice it, we will make it both a way and a basis, take our stand upon it, store it up, and thoroughly set it going. The Buddha, Samyutta Nikaya Environmental and social breakdown is now vast and global in scale. If we ask why our social evolution has become so maladaptive, we come immediately upon the key influence of mass advertising. From an early age, we are bombarded by powerful imagery, deployed through a hypnotic medium, television, that bypasses conscious filters to directly influence our subconscious mind. The vivid imagery of television and movies create a seamless virtual reality that programs our collective nervous system. From America to China, consumerism has become an organizing principle for billions of peoples lives. Zen Buddhist philosopher David R. Loy states: Consumerism requires and develops a sense of our own impoverishment. By manipulating the gnawing sense of lack that haunts our insecure sense of self, the attention economy insinuates its basic message deep into our awareness: the solution to any discomfort we might have is consumption. Needless to say, this all pervasive conditioning is incompatible with the liberative path of Buddhism. Consumption has replaced religion and citizenship as the way we participate in society. It is one of 4 Megaphenomena that have spiked in intensity over the last century, combining to create unprecedented danger for the biosphere. Population growth, carbon gas emissions and species extinctions are the other three megaphenomena. Fossil fuels will be exhausted within this century. The production ... Descartes Discourse Method Descartes, A discourse on the method, 1637 coincides with the authors argument the although Descartes was taught at the best school in England he left without feeling intellectually accomplished, that he instead had doubts which reviled to him how ignorant he was. That Descartes believing he was ignorant in order to gain knowledge created a method that could establish absolute truthif only for himself as although he can try to show others what he believes they have to come to an agreement with it in order to internalize it. In this method Descartes would disregard his senses and use logic. Descartes decided that he would not accept everything he was told to be true nor would he trust what he perceived to be true because he, like everyone else, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On many issues, dear to conservatives Mr. Gorsuch is a perfect match. He usually sides with companies, provides little room for condemned prisoners appealing against death sentences, and goes out of his way to protect institutions. It seems clear he is personally, at least pro life. In his 2006 book, The Future of Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia , Mr. Gorsuch wrote that all human beings are intrinsically valuable and the intentional taking of human life by private persons is always wrong . • 8. Microcosm In The Film Snowpiercer Director Bong Joon ho s post apocalyptic film, Snowpiercer (2013), follows the capitalistic microcosm of a super train that houses the last vestiges of humanity. Curtis, the film s protagonist, leads a group of ragtag revolutionists against the carefully perfected balance of the train in hopes of obtaining an egalitarian system. As the group forces their way from the tail of the train to the engine room, they re greeted with new surprises with each new train car they pass through. On their quest, the group comes across a seemingly harmless school car. It s in this school car that viewers see the juxtaposition Joon ho created between the train babies from the tail section and the more privileged middle class children. Seeing those masks, it s inferred that the middle class children enjoy crafts and toys that are easily accessible, but in the tail section, the children only have one raggedy ball to pass around. • 11. The Trolley Dilemma By Philippa Foot The trolley dilemma was first created by Philippa Foot The Problem of Abortion and the Doctrine of the Double Effect in 1967 as a thought experiment on ethics, it then evolutionized into what we know today. Making us question human morality, write books annually and hold worldwide presentations. I will explain the trolley dilemma and how Mill s Theory of Utility is the best way to approach this problem, helping us attain the answer with the best moral outcome. The question states that there is a trolley, a train, speeding down the railroad tracks which you are walking beside. You realized that straight ahead there is five people tied up and unable to move from the tracks. You then noticed that you are next to a lever that you can pull and switch to a different set of tracks. However, there is one person on the other track tied up unable to move as well. You have two options: One, do nothing, and the trolley kills the five people on the main track. Second, pull the lever, diverting the train onto the side track where it will kill one person. What would you do is the final question? This sadistic question was designed to test your moral values. It is studied in the cognitive science field, neuroethics, psychology, law and philosophy today. It challenges people s beliefs, ethics, philosophical beliefs and theories of consequentialism, utilitarianism theory and the bystander effect. There are several variations to this ... • 13. The Causes and Treatments of Acute Renal Failure According to Sushrut Waikar, Every year more than 1 million hospitalizations in the United States are complicated by acute kidney injury, accounting for an estimated $10 billion in excess costs to the healthcare system. Acute Renal failure is the inability of your kidneys to work properly. Your kidneys lose the ability to remove waste, filter and balance fluid and electrolytes. This type of renal failurehappens most often when there is an injury or trauma and blood flow to kidneys is severely compromised. A person can return back to normal after having acute renal failure, that is if you detect the problem and treat it on time. There are three causes prerenal, intrarenal and postrenal. In prerenal there is a sudden and drastic drop in blood pressure which can result in no blood flow to your kidneys also dehydration can be a part of it as well. Intrarenal occurs when the damage being done is directly to the kidneys. This can happen from the overuse of medications. Medications are not bad when used correctly but when you overuse or don t use them correctly they can be very harmful to your kidneys. Postrenal is when there is an obstruction in the urinary tract most often from renal calculi or an enlarged prostate in men that blocks the flow of urine. Diagnostic tests can be done to determine kidney function. The most important test to determine kidney function would be BUN and creatinine. Normal BUN is 6 20 mg/dl, creatinine normal levels are 0.6 1.2mg/dl. If kidneys begin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Reflection Paper On Cycling One must be willing to persevere through tough times in order to reach the good times. On September 17, last weekend, I earned what I consider to be my best race result in my young cycling career. After a high speed crash in the road race the day before, I managed to bounce back and earned a third place in the Pensacola Cycling Classic pro / one / two criterium. This perfectly exemplifies one of the many life lessons that cycling has taught me over the course of the past five years. I would have never learned these lessons, had I not received my first road bike in 2012. My bike has given me more than I ever thought was possible. I have found a passion and a niche that has engulfed my life, and I love every second of it. I have made friends from California, all the way to the far reaches of Maine. I have suffered through the high desert of Bend, Oregon and labored up the mountains of Greenville, South Carolina. I have experienced the high of screaming down a mountain at fifty miles an hour, filling your lungs with dread, but making your heart feel as if it is floating. These people I have met, places I have been, and feelings I have felt have molded me into a modge podge of regional cultures. In fact, this modge podge will become international, as I will be traveling to Odense, Denmark to racefor Team USA in 2018. This will be yet another once in a lifetime opportunity, all thanks to cycling. During my early years of racing, I was able to succeed without a large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some would like to believe that the U.S has the best health care system in the world, but unfortunately that may not be the truth. In 2000 The World Health Organization (WHO) released a world health report. The report ranked the overall health system performance of 191 countries; the United States was ranked at 37 out of the 191. On March 23, 2010 congress approved and President Obama signed The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) into law. The PPACA is more commonly known as just the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or negatively as Obamacare. In order for the ACA to be passed, the President had to appease the different political parties. As a result, the ACA is not entirely an original idea. Some of the main provisions already had the support of various political parties, because they had been introduced by past presidents and political parties in their health reform plans over the past few decades. Some examples include: both Nixon and Carter had employer mandates; Bush had a version of the individual mandate, both Bush and Clinton proposed similar ideas to the insurance marketplace, among a few others. The ACA is similar to universal health care; the objective is to ensure that the US citizens have access to affordable quality healthcare, instead of a free market for all like in other countries it is still for profit. Media Coursework Production Evaluation ( 760 Words ) A2 Media Coursework Production Evaluation (760 WORDS) The focus of my investigation was to analyse the representation of women in horror films. The films I had selected were Resident Evil Retribution (2012) and Halloween (1978). In the film, Resident Evil Retribution, the representation of women was stronger, whereas Halloween represented females as weak and vulnerable as they were from a different epoch. I have used codes and conventions and also subverted the representation of women in my opening sequence of the horror film. The codes and conventions I discovered include: в¦Ѓ Females are represented as weak and vulnerable в¦Ѓ The close up on Halima s face screaming (Elder Sister) The subversion of stereotypes of Trapped 2016 в¦ЃThe females are not sexually objectified в¦Ѓ Females from an Islamic background The opening sequence I have created has similar conventions to Halloween (1978). The U.S. is no longer as racist as it used to be, as 200 years ago, you were likely a slave because of your skin color. However, today many Americans are being racist to Asians in a new way: stereotyping. Hello, I m Dexter Chen, and today I will be discussing why you shouldn t stereotypeAsians because stereotypes aren t true, are extremely discouraging, and because stereotyping is offensive in general. Before we get into this topic, let me explain what stereotyping is. Stereotyping is judging a group, religion, ethnicity, or even gender, although these stereotypes might not reflect on reality. This is caused by social media, the human tendency to reduce complex things to simple things, and prejudice. You might be thinking to yourself: Gee, how is stereotyping offensive? It s just a playful way of describing someone! If you are thinking that doubtful thought, then pay attention, because I will show you why you shouldn t stereotype anyone, especially Asians. First things first: Stereotypes are usually untrue. An average Asian Americanstereotype would be nerdy, introverted, and smart. That stereotype isn t even close to true. Imagine 4.4 billion people all being nerdy, smart, and introverted. That s literally not possible. Everyone s different in their own ways. Are all Americans stupid and fat? In his essay, Blueprint for Negro Writing, Richard Wright rejects the Renaissance at which he brings forward several reasons as to why. To begin, he discusses the role of the negro writing and how the negro writer does not write to the black audience, but to the whites and through doing so, the negro writer treats themselves worse than others. In the text, he writes: Rarely was the best of this writing addressed to the Negro himself, his needs, his sufferings, his aspirations. Through misdirection, Negro writers have been far better to others than they have been to themselves (Wright, 1403). In his work, he questions the power of the Negro writers and the path that they are taking. Initially, the negro writers are not focusing on their own lives, their experiences and condition (Wright, 1403). Another issue that Wright brings forward in his essay is that Negro writing has been addressed in the main to a small white audience rather than to a Negro one, it should be stated that no attempt is being made here to propagate a specious and blatant nationalism (Wright, 1405). Essentially, what Wright is addressing is that writers are more focused on the white audience rather than the black audience and he states that a gap continues to widen between them and their people (Wright, 1404). Another point that Wright makes is that Negros should accept the nationalist implications of their lives, not in order to encourage them, but in order to change and transcend them (Wright, 1406). In response to this, Wright says that Negro writers should be focusing on the hardships of their lives, and the fact that their life is not easy (Wright, 1406). The only way to bring change is to accept the fact that this is the reality. In his work, he continues to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I Know Who You Are and I Saw What You Did, by Lori Field is a hand drawn piece on paper using an ancient writing method called silverpoint. Lori s style is a mixture of surrealistic, grotesque and contemporary pop. Her process consists of hand drawing either with silverpoint or color pencils and then uses wax to layer the drawings to create one piece like a collage. At first glance this piece captures the audiences eyes on the two women who are main characters. One woman is in full armor with her eyes closed while the other woman is floating next to her gazing upon her. The piece definitely has a surrealistic feel, almost like the audience is looking into the woman s dream especially since the woman floating has a dress on with the words I cannot sleep written on it. Due to the specific symbols, objects, and animal imagery there is an intended hidden message intended for the audience to discover. Created in 2012, I Know Who You Are and I Saw What You Did is a 12 x 12 inch drawing currently located at the Cumberland Gallery in Nashville, Tennessee. The main characterof the piece is a woman wearing medieval armor like a knight and she has on a headpiece consisting of thorns and horns of an animal like a deer. There is a saying that whatever you think about another person is just a reflection of what you think about yourself; it is like looking into a mirror. Paintings can act like mirrors as well; we can gaze into a painting and see the good of the subject being portrayed and in turn we can identify the same attributes within ourselves allowing us to relate to the subject matter. Both Rembrandt and Vermeer were able to capture intersubjectivity in their paintings. The second painting of Rembrandt s that produces a deep connection between the image and the viewer is Aristotle (Fig. 2); this painting shows us Aristotle in contemplation looking discontent. According to Mariet Westermann, Rembrandt is suggesting, Aristotle is torn by the competing demands of spiritual matters, embodied in the bust of Homer, and secular ones, signified by the medal with the portrait of Alexander the Great, which dangles from the gold chain (Westermann, p. 244). Humans have been torn emotionally between two different paths in life since we gained the ability to rationalize. The idea of being able to make choices comes into play when considering free will, having free will is the ability to choose ones own destiny. What better picture to look at than Rembrandts Aristotle (Fig. 2) when contemplating ethical theories. At some time or another we have been confronted with moral dilemmas, in the face of those quandary s we must choose the path that will lead us to our highest and best good. These decisions are not always easy ones to make and sometimes we make the wrong choices, but in the end they will teach us valuable lessons. Here, we will describe snakes, their structure, what they eat, how often, reproduction, habitat and other interesting facts about snakes in general. Then, we will examine closely venomous snakes that are indigenous to Kansas. Snakes are elongated, flexible, and limbless reptiles from the suborder Serpentes. There are approximately 2,900 different species of snakes. There are around 700 different species of venomous snakes and 250 of these are able to kill a human with a single bite. Snakeare generally carnivorous. They eat various items such as termites, birds, eggs, mice, rabbits, and other reptiles/mammals. Snakes do not chew their prey; they swallow it whole and their moveable maxillary allows them to swallow large prey three times the size of their heads. They have rear facing teeth which helps them keep their prey captive until they can swallow it. Some venomous snakes will inject their prey with venom while constricting snakes will squeeze the breath from their prey until they die. While I will not take the time to delve into each one of these themes independently, I will select a few that are the most critical to this author. The first theme that becomes apparent is an overt attack on religion. Early on in the film, we find a group of lawyers talking about who will prosecute the case. It is stated that, We need a Christian on this, preferably a Catholic. Someone who knows this stuff inside and out, and who the public will see as unbiased. They were treated unfairly during this period, when it was to being them a new started and hope of change. Don t get me wrong there were some people who were for them to e happy, but not many. So, let start at the being; where it all happened. In January of 1865, Union General William T. Also the Union Army donated mules to them after the war was over. In the summer of 1865 when President Andrew Johnson was in office, his first act of Reconstruction was to give back all the federal control land back to its previous owner. When the land was giving back to the owners, freed men and women could sign a labor contracts with the planters or they could leave the land they occupied this was called Freedman s Bureau. Soon after when the land was giving back, the former Confederate state stated Black Codes . Black Codes would deny African Americans to legal have equality and political rights. Each of these sections is unique because it shows all of the changes on earth s surface throughout the years. The largest of these sections on the geologic scale is eons. Eons are also divided into another two sections call ears. Eras are then divided into periods and then periods are divided into epochs. The reasons why the sections have been divided are either because major organisms developed or went extinct. Organisms go extinct because they either run out of space or food, or the environment changes making it hard for some organisms to survive the new environment (Ghose). These are the common characteristics of an Anglo Saxon hero. Anglo Saxon heroes display some or all of these attributes, which help distinguish them as a hero. Much like Batman and Superman or other heros of modern day, Anglo Saxon heroes protect the public against evil foes, or perhaps Villains. They act courageously and selflessly, without seeking personal gain. Also, they possess an overwhelming sense of duty to protect those in need. Furthermore, Superheros are loyal to those they serve, whether it be their lord, or the Lord. With all these characteristics in mind, the character of Beowulfcan clearly be seen as an Anglo Saxon hero. Specifically, his overwhelming bravery, loyalty, and sense of duty establish him as an Anglo Saxon hero. First of all, Beowulf is the pure embodiment of bravery. A man who drove five great giants into chains, chased all of that race from the earth , and also swam in the blackness of night, hunting monsters out of the ocean and killing them one by one , is clearly the bravest man alive, bar none. Furthermore, even before he slayed Grendel, Grendel s mother, and the Dragon, Beowulf already had a reputation as one of the bravest men in the word.
